There's a phenomenal message in store
-
just for you. I hope you're encouraged.
-
We're going to get back into a
-
conversation that we started last week
-
called the kingdom blueprint. The
-
kingdom blueprint. God's blueprint for
-
here on earth that was designed by the
-
master designer. But I have a question
-
before we start.
-
It's a very divisive question. So I
-
apologize in advance.
-
Who is team iPhone?
-
Okay, hands down. Who is team other?
-
Tony Murray. Who is team other? YEAH, IT
-
MAN I THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST DIVISIVE
-
questions that you can ask. Are are your
-
texts green or blue?
-
Don't put me in no group texts if it's
-
coming up green. Only thing I like
-
that's green is my money. I don't put me
-
in Don't put me in nothing that's got
-
green in it. I I don't like it. Whether
-
you have an iPhone or whether you have
-
an Android, I'm sure you have great
-
reasons why or if you have an Android,
-
you think you have great reasons why
-
have great reasons why we choose what we
-
have. But here's what I do know about
-
the iPhone and about an Android or about
-
a Mac, a laptop and a Windows computer
-
is each device or each brand has their
-
own operating system.
-
Like if I want to download an app for my
-
iPhone, I do not go to the Google Play
-
Store, which is what you would use for
-
Android. I I I don't go there. I go to
-
the Apple. Why? Because it's a Apple
-
product. So, it lives inside of that
-
operating system. It dictates it creates
-
parameters and it creates levels of
-
opportunity. It does both. Same thing
-
with an Android. that I I've downloaded
-
multiple applications here at the church
-
and my desk computer or for some other
-
folk and it always asks which operating
-
system are you using Mac or Windows?
-
Because if you're using Mac, you cannot
-
download a Windows and expect for it to
-
work and vice versa. There's different
-
operating systems and you cannot run two
-
operating systems at the same time. You
-
have to pick one. Sounds very similar to
-
like what Jesus said where you and I
-
cannot serve two masters. He says you
-
got to pick one. He he he even goes so
-
far as to say uh don't be lukewarm with
-
your faith. Either be cold or be hot,
-
but be decisive. And in a culture today
-
that wants a lot of ambiguity for my
-
feelings,
-
>> right?
-
>> Wants ambiguity for me to be able to
-
change my mind and and help be
-
comfortable. I I I want a gray area. I
-
don't want to decide. God says there's
-
certain things that are extremely black
-
and white. Choose this day who you will
-
serve
-
>> is what God says. And the Bible goes on
-
to say that there's two different
-
kingdoms,
-
two different operating systems that you
-
and I have to pick from. One is given to
-
us by default.
-
One is one that we choose to operate in.
-
Here's what the Bible says. Colossians
Colossians 1 chapter mention
-
chapter 1. I'll read in the New
-
Testament, the back half of the book.
-
The writer of Colossians begins to tell
-
us about these two different kingdoms
-
that we have to choose from. And then at
-
the same time shows us who is the owner
-
of the kingdom. Because when we talk
-
about kingdoms, really what we're saying
-
is there's a king's domain.
-
And the king gets to dictate the
-
culture,
-
>> the language, the boundaries, the
-
parameters, what's allowed and what's
-
not. It is the king's decision and it's
-
not a dictatorship.
-
>> People don't have a vote in. The king is
-
the one who sets the tone, sets the
-
pace. And same thing happens in our
-
life. And if I'm not careful, I would
-
love living in this democracy that we
-
get the opportunity to live in. love
-
that I'm able to vote and and share and
-
voice my opinion, but where God has an
-
opinion, mine is irrelevant.
-
>> And so, if I'm going to operate inside
-
of his kingdom, I need to continue to do
-
things his way. Here's what the writer
-
of Colossians says in Colossians chapter
-
1, verse 13. When you see these
-
highlighted words, I would love for you
-
to read them out loud with me. Here's
-
what it says. God has saved us from the
-
dark kingdom where Satan rules. He has
-
brought us into the kingdom of his son
-
whom he loves. Also called the kingdom
-
of light.
-
Kingdom of darkness,
-
kingdom of light. Two completely
-
different owners.
-
One who is oppressive,
-
one who is liberating.
-
One who cares about you. One who abuses
-
and uses you.
-
One who wants to give you love, one who
-
wants to steal, kill, and destroy
-
everything that you love. Choose which
-
operating system you are going to live
-
in. It says that you've been transferred
-
over. When we accept Jesus into our
-
lives, there's been a transfership of
-
kingdom, a transfership of citizenship.
-
The Bible actually says that you and I
-
when we get into Christ, we're not even
-
citizens of this world. We're aliens.
-
We're foreigners in the land. Why?
-
Because we actually belong to heaven. I
-
came from heaven into this earth. I'm on
-
vacation mode. I'm just trying to do
-
vacation with Jesus. And then I'm going
-
to go back home one day. That is the
-
prayer for every single Christ follower
-
that the Bible says that this life that
-
you and I are living in is nothing but a
-
vapor.
-
>> Here one second and then gone. don't
-
even know when it left, how it left, the
-
direction that it left. But then you,
-
you and I will spend eternity somewhere.
-
>> That's not subjective.
-
>> That is very objective. That it it is a
-
truth that you and I can live by. But we
-
have the opportunity to choose where
-
that is. Smoking or non-smoking,
-
with God,
-
without God. the kingdom of darkness
-
where Satan rules or the kingdom of his
-
son Jesus, the kingdom of light where
-
Jesus rules. The Bible says that we have
-
been transferred over a new kingdom, a
-
new system, a new way of operating
-
throughout life. And if I'm going to be
-
honest, here's something that I have
-
issues with, something that I have
-
struggled with. I can be saved and still
-
be living with an outdated operating
-
system in my life. So, I get saved, but
-
I still do things my way.
-
I get saved and and I allow this book to
-
just be an opinion for me to do in life,
-
not the authority for how I'm supposed
-
to act inside of life. If I'm not cful
-
careful, I will get saved. See Jesus as
-
my savior, but then make him out to be
-
my version of Lord. Whatever benefits
-
me, whatever comforts me, whatever makes
-
me feel good, whatever makes me look
-
good, whatever makes my bank account the
-
biggest, whatever makes me look the most
-
popping on social media, I will put him
-
in my image rather than allowing him to
-
transform and make me into his image.
-
It's a struggle and it's a slippery
-
slope that we live in that Jesus does
-
not just want to be our Lord, he wants
-
to be our savior. And the only way for
-
you and I to have the life that Jesus
-
fully died to give us, not just to
-
experience eternity, but in order to be
-
able to have a life that's actually
-
enjoyable, pleasurable, and lifegiving
-
while we're here on earth, is to do so
-
off of his operating system. When I have
-
a different input in my life, it creates
-
a different output. There is a
-
difference of operating in Satan's or in
-
the world's in cultures operating system
-
versus God's. What do you mean cultures
-
operating system? The Bible says that
-
whenever sin entered into the world that
-
that now became the culture, the domain
-
where Satan rules. He is the ruler over
-
this world.
-
>> It's the fact it's scripture. And that
-
whenever you and I are birthed into this
-
world, by default,
-
we are in his kingdom.
-
>> And you and I have to make a decision in
-
order to accept Christ into our life to
-
have this transfer of citizenship. This
-
is what the Bible calls for you and I to
-
be born again. Because in this world,
-
when we're born into it, we're born into
-
sin. We're born into his culture. But
-
when we get born again into Christ, the
-
Bible says, "What the flesh births is of
-
the flesh, but what the spirit birs is
-
of the spirit." When we get born again
-
in Christ, we're born again into his
-
kingdom and into his domain. And so what
-
I see is if my reactions look like the
-
world, then I'm probably operating with
-
the world's system,
-
>> not with Christ. But if my actions,
-
reactions, thoughts, words, motives look
-
like heaven's blueprint, heaven's
-
operating system, then chances are I'm
-
doing my very best in order to be led by
-
Holy Spirit to do things God's way. This
-
is why Jesus actually told you and I how
-
we should pray in Matthew chapter 6.
Matthew 6 chapter mention
-
Many people have this have this
-
memorized.
-
We're going to put it up on the screen,
-
but I want to focus on one particular
-
verse out of Matthew chapter 6. When
Matthew 6 chapter mention
-
Jesus is teaching how to pray, many of
-
you might know, "Our Father, who art in
-
heaven, hallowed be thy name." Here's
-
what the ESV version of Matthew 6:10
-
says. Your kingdom come, your will be
-
done on earth as it is in heaven.
-
So, not in heaven as it is down here on
-
earth. I need heaven to come down. Stop
-
Caleb trying to take earth and take it
-
up. It's not earth up. It's heaven down.
-
What God, what Jesus is saying is
-
prayer. Prayer for God to instill his
-
system inside of my life. A completely
-
different way of moving, a different way
-
of talking, talking, a different way of
-
thinking, a different way of operating
-
inside of life. let heaven's culture
-
override
-
my natural instincts.
-
How can it be for God to come here? For
-
me to be able to live heaven on earth
-
that I don't just have to wait until I
-
pass away, but there has to be another
-
level of living here. And I don't want
-
to diminish God's power and sovereignty
-
to only be effective whenever I get to
-
heaven. He's also able to be effective
-
here on earth, but I have to do things
-
his way to allow him the opportunity to
-
do what he's wanting to do. And so I I
-
would say it this way for me, I don't
-
want to just pray your kingdom come. I
-
want to be the place that it comes
-
through.
-
>> All right?
-
>> That if we're Christ followers, it's not
-
us just saying, "God, on earth as it is
-
in heaven." No, it's on earth as it is
-
in heaven. And by the way, use me in
-
order to show how it is in heaven. The
-
love of heaven, the joy of heaven, the
-
peace of heaven, the grace of heaven,
-
the mercy of heaven, the spirit of
-
heaven, but then also the strength of
-
heaven. I want God to use me in order to
-
show that to people inside of this
-
world. So the kingdom operating system,
-
it is very simple and very hard. Ain't
-
that the case that usually it's the
-
simple things that are the hardest
-
things? Like I remember back whenever I
-
was in school, I'll do pre-alggebra,
-
algebra 1, algebra 2. We going we not
-
going to talk about geometry
-
taking those classes. I remember the
-
first couple weeks in school like the
-
teacher was like going over things that
-
we had learned last time. I'm like, bro,
-
I done been known this. Like I I know
-
the fundamentals. I know they're the
-
building blocks for where we're going. I
-
I heard it. I didn't want to believe it
-
or do anything with it. Meanwhile, three
-
weeks into school, I'm over here asking
-
for tutoring because I'm already lost.
-
Like, I have no idea what we're doing,
-
where we're going. And the teacher said,
-
"It's because you weren't focused on the
-
fundamentals. You weren't focused on the
-
easy things. And if you can't do the
-
easy things, then how are you expecting
-
to build that up?" I find in my life the
-
more I focus on doing the simple things
-
that Jesus says to do, I will one
-
realize how hard it is, how much I can't
-
do it. Number two, it also reminds me
-
how much I need him. It's funny how my
-
pride and my arrogance can grow to a
-
place where I actually think I'm good
-
enough and don't need God.
-
>> All right?
-
>> And it happens to me easy. Too many
-
compliments, I think I got it. too too
-
many words of encouragement. I think I'm
-
good. I think I'm doing it on my own.
-
Too many successes, the business starts
-
popping and we're having some profitable
-
months. I think I actually know what I'm
-
doing.
-
>> I got to be careful with this. Stay
-
humble and stay submitted to God and how
-
he does things. So, the kingdom's
-
operating system, which is simple but is
-
not easy, are these three things. In
-
God,
-
two people
-
through devotion.
-
in God
-
towards people
-
through devotion. Let's talk about this.
-
In God. In God. The Pharisees in Matthew
Matthew 22 chapter mention
-
chapter 22, uh, they were trying to
-
catch Jesus slipping. Y'all, don't y'all
-
hate when somebody tries to like catch
-
you slipping?
-
Like, you trying to get me got? I hope
-
you get got like you YOU WHAT YOU TRYING
-
TO DO THIS FOR me for? The Pharisees was
-
doing that with with Jesus. that he was
-
around a whole bunch of religious elite
-
folk who knew better but weren't doing
-
better. Who knew the scripture but
-
weren't doing the scripture, who knew
-
the song and were singing it, but
-
weren't living out the appreciation of
-
the love for God. That that's who these
-
folk were, the Sadducees and the
-
Pharisees. And the Pharisees had came up
-
and they were like, "Oh, we going to
-
catch God slipping." And they sent a
-
lawyer to go up and to try to catch
-
Jesus. And he says, "Hey, rabbi, hey
-
teacher, um, what is the greatest
-
commandment in the law?"
-
>> And I can see like I Anybody else like a
-
visual person? Are you kind of crazy,
-
too? Like when when I'm seeing this like
-
I have a whole movie like I see him
-
saying, "Hey, Rabbi, what's the greatest
-
commandment in the law?"
-
Got him.
-
It's just me, Jesus.
-
And Jesus came back something gangster.
-
The truth.
-
Ain't it funny how we sometimes shy away
-
from the truth? Jesus said, "I'mma stand
-
10 toes on it." You asked me the
-
question, be ready for my response. I'm
-
not ashamed in he who I believe and I
-
know where it is that I come from.
-
Matthew 22:es 37-38.
-
Here's what Jesus said to what is the
-
greatest commandment in the law. And he
-
said to them, "You shall love the Lord
-
your God with all your heart and with
-
all your soul and with all your mind.
-
This is the great and first commandment.
-
Love God
-
>> with everything you got. Holding nothing
-
back. Which means emotionally, God, you
-
have me.
-
>> You have my heart. Intellectually, God,
-
you have me. I'm going to study your
-
word. It's not enough just for me to
-
have emotionalism with you,
-
experientialism. No, I want to have a
-
foundation for your word. I want to not
-
just know you. I want to understand you.
-
I want to know what makes you happy. I
-
want to know what makes you cry. I want
-
to know what you're proud of. I want to
-
know what makes you sad. I want to know
-
these things. So with my heart, with my
-
mind, and with my soul,
-
my willpower, that the decisions that I
-
make now are expressed in how I love
-
you. Love the Lord your God with all
-
your heart, with all your soul, with all
-
your mind. This is the great and the
-
first commandment
-
in the kingdom of God. Order matters
-
really. And anywhere we go,
-
>> order matters. The law of first mention
-
that if everything's a priority,
-
nothing's a priority.
-
>> All right?
-
>> So Jesus said, I need you to keep this
-
as a priority. Pimeo, number one, keep
-
this at the top of the list. Pin it to
-
your feed. Save it. Put it as your
-
screen saver. Do whatever. This is the
-
number one thing that things friend
-
John. Do you love God? Order matters.
-
Why does this matter?
-
>> As I said earlier, heaven's order, his
-
operating system is in God. When I love
-
God, I'm able to find my identity inside
-
of God
-
>> because God is the master designer. He's
-
the one that made you and he's the one
-
that made me. Well, you want to get to
-
know you better? How about you get to
-
know the one that made you
-
>> cuz you're going to see some intricacies
-
that you might have misqualified. You
-
might have called it weird. God called
-
it unique. People might have said that
-
it was bad. God said it's for my glory.
-
People might have shunned away from it.
-
And that's the thing that God is using
-
to embrace you and embrace people. WHEN
-
I GET START LOVING GOD MORE AND I MAKE
-
SURE THIS relationship was is right, I
-
have a security in who I am.
-
>> Without God, we have identity crisis.
-
With God, I have a secured identity. You
-
ever had an identity crisis before?
-
I talk about me. I'm a mut, baby. I'm a
-
dog. I'm a mut. I'M A MUT.
-
I'M HALF Puerto Rican and at times I
-
think I'm full.
-
And I I used to have the Puerto Rican
-
flag in my college dorm hanging on the
-
wall. I promise you I HAD THE BOXING
-
GLOVES HANGING FROM MY CAR. But if you
-
spoke to me in Spanish, deal with them
-
in the guy. Hey,
-
just keeping it a buck.
-
AND I'M FROM POKE COUNTY,
-
SO I COULD DO COWBOY BOOTS, COUNTRY
-
MUSIC, AND CAMO with the best of them.
-
I'm cool with you there. And in my
-
formative years growing up, we lived in
-
INNER CITY TAMPA, SO I THOUGHT I was
-
black.
-
I did. I JUST THOUGHT GOD took me out
-
the oven early. Like, I ain't know. I
-
thought I was half baked. Like, I I
-
didn't know.
-
Thank you.
-
Now watch this.
-
>> Because of that, I tried to put my
-
identity inside of what I deemed out of
-
ignorance, culture, nationality, what I
-
felt good in. And then I found myself
-
jumping to please whatever group of
-
people that I was around. So I never
-
knew who I was.
-
>> I allowed everybody else to dictate what
-
I was. I was inside of sports. I like I
-
like sports. Uh and I had my identity
-
inside of sports. Here was the problem.
-
We didn't go undefeated. I lost. Which
-
means then that I lost.
-
Put it into work ethic. And yeah,
-
somebody who works hard, somebody who
-
sweats, give me the job, I'm going to
-
get it done until I can't or won't,
-
until I don't know what to do or until
-
it's too much and something falls
-
through the cracks. Now I feel like I
-
have just became a failure. But once we
-
put our identity inside of Christ, we're
-
going to get to know a love, a security,
-
a strength that came from heaven because
-
he's the designer. NOT PUTTING MY LIFE
-
IN CHRIST IS LIKE YOU and I trying to
-
use the air fryer to heat or trying to
-
use the freezer to warm up a piece of
-
pizza.
-
>> All right?
-
>> We were never intended to do it that
-
way. It it's actually made to do
-
something completely different. And
-
there was times in my life where I was
-
trying to live and operate one way when
-
really I think what heaven was saying is
-
Caleb, you were meant to do something
-
different. You were created to You
-
wonder why it's not work? You wonder why
-
you out here trying to be wild and you
-
can't enjoy all of the wild.
-
>> All right?
-
>> Cuz you were created to do something
-
different. You want to know why you're
-
so tormented with the way that you just
-
responded to that person? Cuz you were
-
supposed to be operating different.
-
Caleb, change how you live. Change how
-
you operate. I need you to focus on me.
-
When you're in me, then you're inside of
-
security.
-
>> But now it's not just in me. It's also
-
to people towards people. Matthew 22:39,
-
the very next verse, Jesus continues and
-
he says it this way. And the second is
-
like it. The first commandment, love
-
God. This is the great and the first
-
commandment. And the second is like it.
-
You shall love your neighbor as
-
yourself.
-
>> What he's saying is that a love for God
-
should and will produce in you a love
-
for people.
-
>> That as I love him more, I naturally
-
love people more. As I embrace him more,
-
I will naturally begin to embrace other
-
folk more. Because while the
-
relationship with me and Jesus, yes, is
-
an internal decision and is something
-
that's going here. The kingdom life is
-
not a private life, it's a public life.
-
There should be visible implications for
-
the love that you and I say that we have
-
for Christ. That I'm not an in the
-
closet Christ follower. I'm outspoken.
-
What does that look like? Not in how I
-
slap people in the Bible. Not in how
-
loud I pray. Not in what I do there. How
-
well I treat others.
-
How well can I TREAT PEOPLE? HOW WELL
-
CAN I love people? I heard on a podcast
-
this past week, it was talking about
-
scripture and it said this that you and
-
I sometimes,
-
this pastor was talking, he said, "I
-
sometimes don't even love my family the
-
way that the Bible says to love my
-
enemies.
-
>> I have a jacked up and skewed version of
-
what love is on my own. I need God to
-
define it." First John actually says
-
that whoever does not love does not know
-
God because God is love. So the more I
-
get to know him, the more I'm able to
-
understand what love is and then be able
-
to give it out towards others. The
-
kingdom life isn't private. It's visible
-
based on how well I love people. This is
-
what Jesus started talking about in
-
Matthew chapter 5, talking about the
Matthew 5 chapter mention
-
sermon on the mount. He says that you
-
and I were the salts of the earth. We're
-
like a city that is set upon a hill, a
-
light in a house, not to be covered over
-
so that it can't be used, but to give
-
light, to shine it for people. And
-
here's what he says in Matthew 5:16. In
-
the same way, this is Jesus talking. LET
-
YOUR LIGHT shine before others so that
-
they may see your good works and give
-
glory to your father who is in heaven.
-
Not good works for them to say how good
-
you are. Good works to say how amazing
-
God is.
-
>> To say that because of how I love him, I
-
am now treating people with heavenly
-
principles, with the blueprint, the
-
operating system from heaven, that then
-
when people look at me, how well am I
-
doing at holding a mirror back up at God
-
that it's not me, it is him. I'm
-
grateful that he's able to use somebody
-
broken, busted, and disgusted like me
-
for his glory. How can I do that? It is
-
through what the Bible calls these good
-
works. Good works to glorify God,
-
not arguments. It doesn't say, "Let your
-
light shine before others so that they
-
may see your great argumentative points
-
and how you can be correct."
-
It doesn't say my harshness towards
-
people. It doesn't say to operate in
-
culture wars creating division between
-
men. No, it says operate inside of the
-
good works. There's a theologian RT
-
France and he he has a commentary on the
-
gospel of Matthew and RT France was
-
actually quoted saying this that the
-
good works are visible expressions of
-
allegiance to God's reign.
-
Visible expression of my heart's
-
allegiance to the king's domain. Not to
-
mine but to theirs. in Matthew. Well,
-
okay, that sounds good, but what are
-
these good works?
-
What are these things? It has to be
-
something tangible if Jesus wants me to
-
do it. Well, Matthew 5, the sermon on
-
the mount, he goes into these things
-
called the beatitudes right before this
-
word. This is the attitudes that he
-
wants you to be, the the things that he
-
wants you and I to possess. And it's to
-
be humble, to be broken over sin, to be
-
gentle, to be hungry for God, to be
-
merciful, to be pure of heart, of mind,
-
and of motive, to be a peacemaker, and
-
to be faithful under pressure.
-
These are what Jesus is saying are the
-
good works that when we operate in them
-
which is only found inside of God,
-
inside of Christ. But when we operate in
-
those, it's able to glorify God who is
-
in heaven.
-
>> And you and I need to care what people
-
think and how they view us. For one, the
-
Bible says that a good name is better
-
than riches.
-
I used to say, I don't care about what
-
people think. You should. That's your
-
reputation. And the Bible says that you
-
and I when we receive Christ are
-
ambassadors for God. I'm either bringing
-
people towards him or I'm pushing people
-
away from him. Which one is my lifestyle
-
doing? But then Paul actually says it
-
this way in 2 Corinthians 8 21. He says
-
this, "We are careful to be honorable
-
before the Lord to do what's right in
-
his eyes, but we also want everyone else
-
to see that we are honorable.
-
>> We want to do right in the eyes of God.
-
That's the number one thing. not living
-
based off of people. Remember, order
-
matters. I first do what's right in the
-
eyes of God. And then in my response to
-
loving him and being in him and focusing
-
on him, I now want to do what is best
-
for everybody else,
-
>> which is always going to be operating
-
inside of God's operating system.
-
>> Order matters. I You ever made rice
-
before?
-
I ain't talking about that Uncle Ben's.
-
I ain't talking about that minute rice.
-
I ain't even talk about no rice maker
-
rice. I'm talking about that season pot.
-
You know what I'm saying? That one that
-
you don't scrub cuz it's seasoned. Just
-
right. I wanted to make dinner for Liz a
-
couple months ago. So, I made my
-
steakoop whoop. Went to go make some
-
rice. Something simple, some slight, you
-
know, just out of the kindness of my
-
heart. Love you.
-
So, I go to make the rice, but I had the
-
kids at home, so I'm rushing and I'm not
-
really fully paying attention. So, I I
-
washed the rice. Woo! I got the got the
-
pot boiling. I threw in the salt again.
-
Just doing something simple. And then I
-
cooked it. Woo! I went TO GO TASTE IT.
-
THAT thing was nasty.
-
In our house, do how you will, we use
-
olive oil in our rice. I forgot to put
-
in the olive oil. So, you know what my
-
brilliant brain did?
-
>> I added it in after
-
just a little drizzle.
-
>> I took another bite. IT WAS EVEN WORSE.
-
ORDER. That was my reaction.
-
I started crying like I couldn't handle
-
it.
-
Order matters.
-
Same ingredients out of order.
-
Disgusting. Nobody ate it. Threw it in
-
the trash.
-
Use those same ingredients. Put it in
-
order. It is something that is
-
nourishing and that is beneficial to all
-
of those who take it in. God is saying,
-
"I have an order for you to do in life.
-
Think of me first." Matthew 6 says,
-
"Seek first the kingdom of heaven. I
-
want to go towards God first. And as I
-
love God, then I'm able to love people
-
because what I find is when I try to
-
love people without being rooted in God
-
first, my love eventually becomes more
-
about me.
-
>> I pervert it. I twist it. I manipulate
-
it. I make it to what how good it makes
-
me feel. What do I get out of it? How am
-
I treated? Order matters. When I love
-
God properly, then I'll be able to love
-
people properly. But then then it takes
-
me through devotion in God to people
-
through devotion. Titus chapter 3 verse
-
14, the Bible says this. And let our
-
people, this is Paul talking here, learn
-
to devote themselves to good works so as
-
to help in cases of urgent need and to
-
not be unfruitful.
-
Way to interpret this is if I'm not
-
doing good works, then I am not being
-
fruitful
-
and not good works based off of cultures
-
operating system. Good works based off
-
of what heaven says to do. I need heaven
-
to be the one that defines things inside
-
of my life. So good works heaven. If I'm
-
not doing the things that God said to
-
do, then I am being unfruitful. If I do
-
the things, treat people well, keep the
-
order, love, be in God, express love
-
towards people, then I am in the
-
operating system of heaven and I am
-
fruitful. But the Bible says to devote
-
yourself.
-
So my brain, I make up a lot of
-
definitions in my head. Anybody else
-
make up words? I make up words. I want
-
to know what does devotion actually
-
mean?
-
>> Devotion is an intense,
-
steadfast,
-
and loyal dedication.
-
An intense, over-the-top passion,
-
intensity.
-
I know nothing about that. Intense,
-
steadfast, which means it doesn't quit.
-
It can endure through the tough times.
-
Loyal,
-
which means whether it benefits me or
-
whether I it doesn't, I'm here.
-
Dedication. Devotion is the thing that
-
sustains God's system. A devotion to
-
what? A devotion to God.
-
We are in God.
-
Everything we do is for God.
-
And it can only happen through God.
-
My identity is inside of God
-
in me. My good works are for God to give
-
him the glory.
-
But the only way that that'll be
-
sustainable inside of my life is if I do
-
it through God, through his prompting,
-
through Holy Spirit, through me being
-
dedicated to him. All things are in him,
-
to him, and through him.
-
If I stop being devoted, chances are I'm
-
going to fall back into the world's
-
operating system. What do you mean by
-
devoted? If I stop if I stop praying,
-
I stop praying. If I stop this
-
communication with God, how do you
-
expect any relationship to grow without
-
communication?
-
I need to make sure that this is
-
growing. So, I need to make sure that
-
I'm continuing communicating with me,
-
which by the way, it's not a monologue.
-
It's a dialogue. It's not my time for me
-
to just tell him all my wants and then
-
just skate out and run. There also has
-
to be time for me to sit to feel the
-
prompings of Holy Spirit and also hear
-
what I need to get checked. I feel the
-
most times where I don't give him the
-
time to respond is because I'm scared of
-
what he's going to say.
-
>> I need this prayer time. I I I need my
-
time inside of scripture. I I HAVE SAID
-
GOD AIN'T TALKING TO ME. GOD HAS SAID A
-
WHOLE LOT. Am I reading it? Am I
-
listening to it? He's not silent. I've
-
just been ignorant, not knowing. I need
-
to open up my word. That's why we've
-
done this bring your Bible to church
-
campaign. IT'S CRAZY STATISTIC. YOU'RE
-
MORE LIKELY TO read the Bible if you
-
have a Bible.
-
Pretty crazy.
-
Wait, y'all manipulated me to do No, it
-
didn't. Led you.
-
>> Cuz it's for your benefit, not for mine.
-
>> It's for your benefit. It's for your
-
family's benefit. Get this book open.
-
This isn't for a Sunday picture. This is
-
to be a word, a a lamp to your feet, a
-
light to your path. DAVID SAID, "I'LL
-
HIDE YOUR WORD IN MY HEART, SO I WILL
-
NOT SIN AGAINST YOU." HOW CAN I KNOW
-
WHAT GOD WANTS IF I DON'T KNOW WHAT GOD
-
WANTS? It's inside of this book,
-
worship, a lifestyle that is edifying to
-
Christ. Not just the songs that I sing,
-
although there is that, but how am I
-
living? Well, my lifestyle to be one of
-
worship and obedience. How am I obeying
-
what he says to do? That's what keeps
-
the kingdom running.
-
So, in my life, I've had to do what I'd
-
call some kingdom resets
-
cuz I've kind of been off a little bit.
-
This morning when I woke up, I had a
-
notification that said that there's a
-
new update for your phone. Do you want
-
to update it? Yes, I I hit the update
-
and when I did it, the screen kind of
-
went black. I wasn't able to use my
-
phone for a little bit, but I saw this
-
loading bar and it was constantly
-
loading to bring in an up an operating
-
system that allows me to do things that
-
I could not do before I did the update.
-
>> All right.
-
>> There's been times where I have to do
-
these resets, these updates inside of my
-
operating system with Christ. What does
-
that look like?
-
Start your day with prayer instead of
-
your phone,
-
understanding that there is nothing that
-
I'm going to be able to do today that
-
God has not given me the ability to do.
-
That the fact that I woke up is a gift
-
from God. The fact that I can speak is a
-
gift from God. The fact that I have kids
-
to be able to make breakfast for is a
-
gift from God. I have a job to go to.
-
I'm not thinking about how I'm going to
-
get the job. I'm blessed to have a car.
-
Those are gifts from God. I can start
-
every day with prayer of thanksgiving.
-
Begin the communication with God. Holy
-
Spirit, thank you for being here and
-
operating in my life. Not just leaving
-
me. You're not just limited to a
-
building on a Sunday, but Holy Spirit,
-
you're God, you said I am the temple of
-
the Holy Spirit. So wherever I go, you
-
are there. Thank you. Spend some time in
-
your Bible. Read it. Do one act of
-
intentional kindness today
-
to somebody that can't do anything for
-
you.
-
That way I know I'm not doing it for
-
something. I'm doing it just because of
-
what he has done for me.
-
Use your voice to encourage somebody,
-
not create division.
-
Ask yourself what I'm asking myself.
-
What operating system am I talking in,
-
thinking in, and acting in?
-
If I can be very transparent while I was
-
preparing this message, here's what I
-
felt Holy Spirit say to me. Caleb,
-
before you correct your the world,
-
correct your spirit.
-
>> And before you debate culture, display
-
Christ.
-
>> All of us have an update that we can do
-
to make sure that we're in God. We're
-
showing love to people. But the only way
-
that's going to be sustainable is
-
through our devotion to God. It starts
-
with God. It ends with God. It's all
-
because of him. Everybody stand to your
-
feet.
-
To be in God is to speak of my identity.
-
I'm his. I'm inside of Christ. And to to
-
say to people is talking about the
-
expression
-
of my salvation and my need for God, my
-
devotion to his kingdom and his
-
blueprint, his operating system in life.
-
And through devotion, that's to talk
-
about the sustainability that I have in
-
order to do this. I can't do this on my
-
own and I can't change people but I can
-
change me.
-
>> How do I change me? I remember that it's
-
in God
-
to people through devotion. Maybe today
-
you're here and you would say with the
-
best heart and with the best
-
intentionality,
-
God hasn't been first in my life. Maybe
-
I put something else first. Maybe I've
-
put a love for people first and I and I
-
and I didn't put God in his rightful
-
place, but today I want to I want to get
-
my order straightened back out. Me, too.
-
You're maybe maybe your love has grown
-
sharp because you're trying to do your
-
version of love, not his version of
-
love. Where the Bible says love is
-
patient. Love is kind.
-
Devotion maybe has become occasional or
-
circumstantial,
-
which means it's not devotion. Maybe
-
maybe it's time to re-up the level of
-
intensity and passion that I have for
-
doing things his way. That I'm not doing
-
it laxidasically in life, but there is a
-
grit that I have that I am going full
-
speed in his direction. And my devotion
-
creates blinders like what raceh horses
-
have that keep me focused on the kingdom
-
of God. Maybe your reactions haven't
-
looked like heaven. And so you need
-
Jesus to help you on the inside, not
-
what it looks like on the outside.
-
Because a reaction is only a display of
-
my heart.
-
And sometimes I mess up in my reactions.
-
What happens when the pressure is on? I
-
mess up, slip. My words aren't always
-
right. My thoughts aren't always right.
-
My intentions and my motives aren't
-
always right. I need God every single
-
day to help me make sure that my
-
operating system is not the one that's
-
the most convenient and it's not the one
-
that's here. It's the one that is the
-
best for me in ge choosing God, choosing
-
Jesus is always always going to be what
-
is best for you and what is best for me.
-
Let's pray. Father God, we love you so
-
much. extremely grateful that we get the
-
opportunity to be vessels, conduits
-
from heaven into the earth for other
-
people to be able to see how good, how
-
amazing, how much you love, and how much
-
you care for them. God, I pray that you
-
would help us reorder. Reorder my heart,
-
reorder my love, reorder my priorities.
-
That I remember that everything that
-
happens in this world is from you, is to
-
you, and is through you. That you are
-
the beginning, you are the middle, you
-
are the end. The whole purpose for life
-
is to give glory and to give honor to
-
you. And so God, would you help me get
-
rid of my old mindset, my old way of
-
doing things, my old beliefs, my old
-
tendencies, my old priorities, and would
-
I be more focused and more in love with
-
you than I am myself or whatever it is
-
that I'm able to produce? God, would you
-
create in me a pure heart
-
so that everybody that I'm able to run
-
in contact with, I'm able to love the
-
way that you do and I'm able to give
-
glory right back towards you. In Jesus'
-
name we pray. Amen. Amen. Amen.
-
