  1. All right, so this morning, we're talking about the s word

  2. but it's not a four, letter word.

  3. We're finishing our series called ecstatically married.

  4. So for those of you joining us for the first time, we don't

  5. want today to be jarring to you. So I'll give a little bit of

  6. introductory had. We've had weeks to prepare

  7. ourselves for this conversation to steal ourselves and go.

  8. He's going to say it multiple times during this sermon, but

  9. throughout this series called ecstatically married.

  10. We did it. We did.

  11. What is a man we did? What is a woman we Did it.

  12. What is a husband? What is a wife?

  13. What is marriage? We did headship.

  14. We did submission. And then today, we're finishing

  15. the series talking about sex. So, I'm going to be honest, I'm

  16. going to be frank, I'm obviously not going to be graphic and

  17. we're going to talk about God's good design.

  18. God's intention for sex and marriage and what it would, what

  19. it would look like to be ecstatically married.

  20. So I don't think today is going to be anything that's going to

  21. be exhaustive. We're not going to go.

  22. As far as we could. We could obviously do whole

  23. marriage Siri we could do a whole series talking just about

  24. sex in different parts of God's design as it pertains to it.

  25. So this is a surface level just a quick Over.

  26. But my hope and expectation is that the word is still going to

  27. encourage you. It's still going to bless you as

  28. still going to open up conversation for husbands and

  29. wives. And I've even prayed for singles

  30. who would be in attendance today to that, they would be blessed.

  31. If they would be refreshed, they would be encouraged by God's

  32. good design. That they would be teachers for

  33. others as as the situations would as they would have

  34. opportunity to do so. So I'll tell you this, when it

  35. comes to sex, there is Most definitely a sacred privacy for

  36. the marriage bed. And this is one way that we keep

  37. the marriage bed undefiled by not broadcasting things.

  38. That ought not be broadcast. And yet we have often been in

  39. the other ditch by saying absolutely nothing about sex in

  40. the church it can easily be treated as a.

  41. Hey, that's a necessary evil and just y'all figure it out like

  42. I'm too uncomfortable to talk to you about it, everybody's too

  43. uncomfortable about it. It's the whole joke like where

  44. do babies come from? Go ask your mother.

  45. The last your father well unfortunately in all the go ask

  46. somebody else. The enemy in the world system

  47. has been has been more than happy to answer every question

  48. with lies. So in the vacuum that we've

  49. created, Satan has been happy to be the primary voice on

  50. sexuality in in the earth and the church should be the primary

  51. voice for truth in everything that happens.

  52. So we don't want to be in either ditch.

  53. We don't want to publicize things, that ought not be

  54. publicized and at the same time, I'm we don't want to be silent

  55. on things when they should be talked about.

  56. There's a wise approach, so the world is busy with the Demonic

  57. and the over-sexualization of everything.

  58. The world is literally, when I say the world, I mean, the world

  59. system as opposed to God's kingdom the world system.

  60. The one that Satan's kingdom, where he's raining temporarily

  61. with limited power and limited ability.

  62. But the world is busy, literally, making sex robots,

  63. more lifelike, and the church, Church is embarrassed because

  64. the Pastor said sex in his sermon, then we found it, deeply

  65. inappropriate, like we've got to, we've got to make some

  66. progress here, and we got to be able to go farther so that we

  67. can help people and say what belongs to God and say, what's

  68. good and say what's his jurisdiction.

  69. So again we won't go too far into intimate details, but we

  70. should boldly and joyfully declare.

  71. The principles of God's word pertaining to sex, sex is the

  72. distinguishing factor of marriage.

  73. There's this one thing that you can't have anywhere else.

  74. So well, I've got this. Marriage isn't just about sex.

  75. Nobody said it was and yet that's the only place where sex

  76. is to be present so well. Marriage is friendship, okay?

  77. Well marriage. Is this a marriage?

  78. Is that marriage? Is this okay?

  79. But everything you just listed, I can also have elsewhere.

  80. I can have friendship. I can have partnership.

  81. I can have camaraderie. I can have team I can have any

  82. of Other thing you could come up with, I could find pieces and

  83. portions of that outside of marriage.

  84. But there's still this one thing that only exists in exclusively

  85. one place as the Lord intended, and as the Lord designed it.

  86. So we don't want to make little of sex.

  87. We want to make much of what the Lord makes much of we can make

  88. little with the Lord makes a little of, but sex is important.

  89. It's the one thing that you were to have with this one person in

  90. marriage. As far as the purposes of sex,

  91. go, we know that sex is for children, sex is for expressing

  92. love. Sex is for expressing Unity.

  93. It's for protection from sexual Temptation, and it is also for

  94. pleasure. Now, I want to also say, as I go

  95. through this message, as I'm going through this sermon, I'm

  96. talking about normative circumstances, normative

  97. circumstances, just like I talked through male and female

  98. headship and submission. I was saying, hey, I'm

  99. describing normative circumstances.

  100. So like, I'm not speaking to the extreme 10% in either direction,

  101. we're talking to the general Norm, so keep In mind that I'm

  102. not going to be speaking to every possible extreme and every

  103. possible scenario. You going well what about or

  104. what about? That's perfect for the Q&A.

  105. That's exactly what the the Q and A line is forced to send

  106. that information in and we're going to cover everything that

  107. we need to cover. And then the other thing I'll

  108. add just before we dig in anymore is I will say that

  109. sexual abuse is significant and it is a profound issue that

  110. needs to be addressed. So it's not something that I'm

  111. going to be able to dive into today.

  112. But I'm going to say, it's an obvious wickedness, it's an evil

  113. that has been committed against many.

  114. Salman childhood some and adulthood, but it can often bear

  115. scars with it. It can bring shame along with it

  116. as people have been sinned against and unfortunately, it

  117. can hinder the renewal of their own mind so it can bring with

  118. it. A lot of baggage, a lot of push

  119. and pull a misunderstanding. So as I'm talking about all this

  120. stuff, just know that anyone who's experienced anything like

  121. that, just know that I'm tender towards that the Lord is tender

  122. towards that. But if you're saying man, you

  123. just said that so callous. What about a scenario?

  124. Well, Not, we're not going to be acknowledging.

  125. All the possibilities. Today we're going to be talking

  126. about the broad. Good design that the Lord has

  127. for sex in marriage. Does that make sense?

  128. So I'm going to start off in Genesis chapter 2.

    Genesis 2 chapter mention

  129. It's where we've been going for most of these sermons, right?

  130. Genesis in the beginning, we see the Lord's design.

  131. We see the Lord's intention Genesis chapter 2.

    Genesis 2 chapter mention

  132. Verses 18 through 24. The Pinnacle of creation is not

  133. the animals, it's not the Stars, it's not the moon, it's

  134. humanity. And then on top of that, the

  135. crown, the final Crown is is woman, but here we're about to

  136. read, man, and woman, being joined together Verse 18.

  137. Then the Lord God said it is not good that the man should be

  138. alone. I will make him a helper fit for

  139. him. Now, out of the ground, the Lord

  140. God, formed every beast of the field and every bird of the

  141. heavens and brought them to the man, to see what he would call

  142. them. And whatever the man called.

  143. Living creature. That was its name.

  144. The man gave names to all the livestock into the birds of the

  145. heavens and every beast of the field.

  146. But for Adam, there was not found a helper fit for him.

  147. So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man and

  148. while he slept, he took one of his ribs and closed up its place

  149. with flesh. And the red that the Lord had

  150. taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the

  151. man. Then the man said this at last

  152. is bone of my bones and Flesh of My Flesh.

  153. She shall be called woman because Cause she was taken out

  154. of, man. Therefore a man shall leave his

  155. father and mother and hold fast to his wife and they shall

  156. become one flesh. And the man and his wife were

  157. both naked and they were not ashamed naked and not ashamed.

  158. One flesh, this is sexual expression.

  159. This is what's taking place here.

  160. This is the understanding of one flesh.

  161. The idea is that we are the most exposed.

  162. We can possibly be The most vulnerable parts of the human

  163. body are joining together in the Covenant of marriage.

  164. Like we've said all throughout this series, we said a man's

  165. body teaches us. Something about masculinity,

  166. that wasn't on accident. That was on purpose.

  167. Men are stronger than women, that wasn't just got going here.

  168. I'm it doesn't matter who gets what?

  169. No, that was a purpose that was to signify, his role, his role

  170. as protector provider leader. So he's bigger by design a

  171. woman, women are beautiful. So, a woman is also a Erik Lora

  172. fire, and a life-giver. Well, in the same way, the way

  173. he designed the male and female reproductive system, they tell

  174. us something. They tell us some obvious

  175. things, it feels a little bit uncomfortable, maybe, but it's

  176. obvious and it's not accidental everything, the Lord design.

  177. He said, yeah, well, that's kind of like that.

  178. That's kind of like this. Yeah, exactly the physical we've

  179. said, before it images, the spiritual, the physical, and the

  180. spiritual, or not, the physical bad, dirty gross, shameful the

  181. Mmm. Holy now remember God is the

  182. author of all things. He was the designer and all

  183. these things are to be United as he intended instead of separated

  184. and divorced from one another. So God calls it all very good.

  185. He made everything, he calls it good, but when he makes man and

  186. woman, he says, this is very good now, it's very good.

  187. Woman is here, man. Is here, I've joined them

  188. together. This is all very good.

  189. The truth is this God's God designed sex.

  190. It's all his idea. Every part of It everything that

  191. happens, the sights, The Sounds, the smells The Taste, all of it

  192. was his idea. God loves sex and the devil

  193. hates sex. We mean by that, I thought the

  194. devil loves sex. No, no.

  195. The devil is just a pervert, God loves sex in its design and its

  196. context, and Its Right Place. God says, I love it, it's very

  197. good, it's the right thing. At the right time, it is a

  198. beautiful gift that I given to humanity.

  199. And we think well Satan is the one who's proud of it, though.

  200. Satan is the one who exposes things that ought not be exposed

  201. the world's System perverts things.

  202. So God says, I've got something good.

  203. True and beautiful. And Satan says, well then I'll

  204. twist it. God says this is sacred for the

  205. marriage bed. Satan says I'll put it all over

  206. the Internet. God says this is pure and holy

  207. and there's a there's a there's a modesty.

  208. No in the marriage bed. No no modesty needed but it's

  209. the modesty is the fact that it's contained within the

  210. marriage bed. It's contained within the

  211. marriage and Satan says then I'll expose it everywhere.

  212. So that's that's what we mean when we say, God loves sex and

  213. its proper context and Satan Sit.

  214. This is God's jurisdiction. Our Father built this.

  215. He owns it. He built every body part at

  216. creation. He's not embarrassed by any of

  217. it, it all belongs to him and therefore, it belongs to his

  218. children. The church, we are the ones who

  219. are the one. We're the only ones who can tell

  220. anybody the truth about this because God gave us this gift.

  221. It's ours. So we shouldn't sit back and

  222. it's kind of like, a worldly thing, but we got to do it to

  223. make kids. No, no, this belongs to God,

  224. this belongs. To his people will teach, you

  225. will instruct you and the in the sacred Beauty, we won't go

  226. beyond where we need to but we won't stay silent any longer.

  227. Either will say here's the right thing at the right time.

  228. This is what it looks like. And that's the church's

  229. responsibility to tell the world the truth.

  230. So, what do we see about? God versus the devil, when it

  231. comes to sex, well, God wants married people having sex

  232. together and what is Satan wants?

  233. Satan wants everyone except married people having sex

  234. together. He wants every other

  235. combination. Happening every because

  236. everything else is perversion. Everything else is sinful,

  237. everything else is Brokenness. Everything else is wrong.

  238. So the devil can only pervert with the Lord is created and we

  239. know now that sex is not a necessary.

  240. Evil sex is a necessary good. This is why the phrase like or

  241. you're just doing this because you want sex should never leave

  242. your mouth from this moment forward, maybe you've been

  243. guilty of it, it should never leave your mouth ever again or

  244. even enter your mind. Saying you're just doing this

  245. because you want sex is like saying that this person has been

  246. caught doing something wrong like you caught him with their

  247. hand in the cookie jar. You just, what want this

  248. spiritual emotional and physical gift with the person who I loved

  249. and made vows to guilty. You caught me, I'm I under

  250. arrest like what, which which court is going to try me now,

  251. you know? But again, that that shows are

  252. wrong thinking about you just want and, but imagine, you know,

  253. because a lot of the work that I do in the family leadership

  254. stuff and talking about sex, Marriage.

  255. I often times get objections. And why you talking about sex

  256. and I said, brother sister, usually it's brother,

  257. interestingly enough brother? Would you be okay, if I said,

  258. I'm talking about family leadership and having great

  259. conversations and marriage. And, of course, they're already

  260. trapped because they know where I'm taking with them.

  261. Great conversations are good, right?

  262. Of course, I would say, amen. I think everybody would what is

  263. it in my brother, though, that he's, why are you talking about

  264. sex? What is it that you would think?

  265. I shouldn't Something in him is thinking this is that's there's

  266. something naughty and his mind, there's something, there's

  267. something inappropriate, and it's not true.

  268. Now, there's an inappropriate way to do that.

  269. And honestly, I've been guilty of that, definitely been guilty

  270. of it. Absolutely.

  271. And I've repented of that sin and and hopefully will avoid it

  272. in the future. But anytime you're dealing with

  273. something on a spectrum. Well, how about?

  274. I mean, there's people who say I've already sending this

  275. sermon, you know, so you can't just chase the crowd but you

  276. have to stay sensitive to the holy Here it say Lord help me to

  277. be wise. Help me to talk about this in a

  278. way that's wise in a way, that's Godly in a way.

  279. That's wholly. But also, in a way that's Frank

  280. also in a way that's just honest and plain speaking.

  281. I mean, literally we're adults. So we are all comfortable with

  282. these conversations privately and yet we also need teaching

  283. biblically so there were not just so that we're not just

  284. mysteriously combining ideas together.

  285. All right I got off of my point here so this is why we would

  286. never say something like Just doing this because you want

  287. because again you're acting like someone's been caught red-handed

  288. and their hands in the cookie jar but it's not.

  289. Their hand is actually on the dinner plate.

  290. And this is the feast that the Lord has provided for marriage.

  291. So like I said, you know, I'm guilty.

  292. Yes of wanting God's spiritual physical and emotional gift to

  293. our marriage, but there are three there are typically three

  294. approaches towards sex, three perspectives, that we come to

  295. sex with. We either treat sex as God, we

  296. treated as gross, or we can receive it as a gift.

  297. Those are Typical. And sometimes we got a

  298. combination of three sex as a God would mean that we've, I

  299. doubt we've turned it into an idol.

  300. Like my whole life is about sex. I'm controlled by my sexual

  301. urges, that's a bad clip. That's going to get you someday

  302. on the podcast, like, I'm controlled by my sexual urges.

  303. This is where sex is idolized or worship.

  304. This is where sex is ultimately sexual, pleasure is your master,

  305. and you are at slave, you don't have compassion for anyone.

  306. You don't have compassion for your spouse.

  307. You're not. Patients with your spouse.

  308. You exclusively after the physical expression, most of the

  309. time in this case of sex, and this is where it's the ultimate,

  310. it is the ultimate expression of all, of all life.

  311. And although, we know it's good and we said marriage is

  312. normative. We see clearly that Jesus was

  313. never married and Jesus didn't experience any kind of sexual

  314. expression on the earth so it is very possible as the Apostle

  315. Paul taught. He said, hey, I wish everybody

  316. was like me. He said, but it's better to

  317. marry than to burn with passion. So he's saying, it's kind of

  318. funny. We've got the normative design

  319. for marriage. Paul's going, you know what?

  320. It's great. You can devote yourself more to

  321. the Lord, but absolutely marriage is a protection against

  322. sexual immorality. So God, we could treat it as a

  323. god, a false. God, we could treat it as gross.

  324. This is where sex is shameful. It's naughty.

  325. It's just inappropriate. It's the sun forsen.

  326. It's this unfortunate necessity and it's just for procreation

  327. and it's just You know, just to appease my spouse at the

  328. absolute minimums. Whenever I have to or we can see

  329. it the way God sees it, that sex is a gift to be received with

  330. gratitude and with joy. There's an appropriate time and

  331. a place open the gift and that time and place is marriage but

  332. in marriage, it should be fully open.

  333. So there's a time and a place for sexual expression, but once

  334. you've gotten to that time and place, it can be wide open to be

  335. richly enjoyed, because it's God's good gift.

  336. And this is the perspective that God has and this is why we're

  337. renewing our minds towards it in this very message.

  338. So I'm gonna have you turned to Song of Solomon?

  339. You thought I was inappropriate? I'm just about I'm just about to

  340. read out loud to you and it's about to get way worse.

  341. Psalms Proverbs Ecclesiastes Song of Solomon.

  342. So throughout different Jewish Traditions throughout history,

  343. The Song of Solomon and not it wasn't Universal.

  344. But there was times and places where young men were not even

  345. allowed to read this portion of the Bible, Because it was so

  346. obvious. What was being described?

  347. It was so plain. It was so obviously explicit as

  348. to what was taking place as Anatomy is being represented by

  349. fruit. But there's a there's a

  350. passionate love being expressed between a husband and a wife

  351. here. The Bible is are rated in case

  352. you hadn't noticed. So Song of Solomon and I'm just

  353. going to take a couple selections here.

  354. What is my point? What is my motive here?

  355. My motive is to steal just show you and convince you that sex is

  356. good. Sex is good.

  357. Well in the right place. Yeah.

  358. Well that's what we're talking about.

  359. We're only talking about its design.

  360. Yeah, that's that's all we have in mind.

  361. Here we reject sexual immorality, completely, and any

  362. sexual expression outside of a man and woman is sexual

  363. immorality. It's fornication.

  364. It's adultery. Jesus said, if I've lusted, then

  365. I've committed adultery. So everybody in this room is

  366. likely guilty of sexual sin that makes us, I could feel shame

  367. there except that we don't, because we've been forgiven and

  368. cleanse and we want to pursue Holiness.

  369. We want to continue to see God's best fulfilled our lives.

  370. So, in Song of Solomon, we have Solomon and his bride.

  371. Well, one of them. That's another sermon but

  372. Solomon and his bride loving one another.

  373. We see this is, this is beautiful, poetry.

  374. It's written to. And from you can read its, it

  375. will be he and then, it'll be she, and they're expressing

  376. their love to one another and it's this song, it's what's

  377. called its Song of Solomon. It's not a math equation, it's

  378. not calculus. It is beautiful masculine to

  379. feminine poetry and love. Chapter 1, verses 12 and 13.

  380. We have, she is speaking to the groom, while the King was on his

  381. couch minority gave forth its fragrance.

  382. My beloved is to me a sachet of myrrh that lies between my

  383. breasts. My beloved is, to me, a cluster

  384. of henna blossoms in The Vineyards of in guilty in

  385. guilty. So as you can see body parts

  386. already being described here, fragrance is being described.

  387. And all this is seen is a beautiful gift.

  388. We're expressing this love towards one another.

  389. In Chapter 2 verses 3 through 7. She speaking again, she said as

  390. an apple tree among the forest of apples, so is my beloved

  391. among the young men with great Delight, I sat in his shadow and

  392. his fruit was sweet to my taste. He brought me to the banqueting

  393. house and His Banner Over Me. Was love.

  394. Sustain me with raisins. Refresh me with apples.

  395. For, I'm sick with love, his left hand is under my head and

  396. his right. Right hand, Embraces me.

  397. I Adore You O Daughters of Jerusalem by the gazelles of the

  398. dose of the field that you not stir up or awaken love until it

  399. pleases. I'm going to keep reading.

  400. I don't think you're uncomfortable enough.

  401. Yet Chapter 4 verses 1 through 7 now.

  402. Now he's speaking to his bride behold.

  403. You are beautiful my love behold.

  404. You are beautiful. Your eyes are doves behind your

  405. Veil. Your hair is like a flock of

  406. goats. These are not pick up lines that

  407. I recommend. I don't think they've all aged.

  408. Well, but at the time I think it was the right thing.

  409. Your wife comes home. I got my hair done.

  410. Wow, babe. It's like a flock of goats like

  411. that's not what Natalie wants to hear.

  412. What? She's come back from the salon?

  413. I don't think babe. You look like a goat.

  414. I love it. I love it.

  415. Your teeth are like a flock of Shoring use babe.

  416. Your teeth are like sheep that have come up from the washing

  417. all of which bear twins. Maybe I guess when she comes

  418. home from the dentist, you know you're just like wow hey the

  419. really pearly white like just beautiful.

  420. Notice Psalm is making his way South here.

  421. They all bear Twins. And not one of them has lost its

  422. young, your lips are like a Scarlet, thread and your mouth

  423. is lovely. Your cheeks are like halves of a

  424. pomegranate behind your Veil. Your neck is like the Tower of

  425. David built built in rows of stone on it.

  426. Hang a thousand Shields. All of them Shields of Warriors,

  427. your two breasts are like two fawns twins of a gazelle that

  428. graze among the lilies until the day breathe And the Shadows

  429. flee. I will go away to the mountain

  430. of myrrh and to the hill of Frankincense.

  431. So he's saying you got these two Twin Peaks.

  432. I'm going to go to both mountains.

  433. Like again, just it says, what it says, it's obviously

  434. describing. But again, it's beautiful, it's

  435. poetic it's loving. It's, it's compassionate.

  436. There's vulnerability here. Verse 7, you are altogether,

  437. beautiful my love. There is no flaw in you.

  438. Come with me from Lebanon. My Bride.

  439. Come with me from Lebanon. So, I recommend reading Song of

  440. Solomon in the context of understanding the marital love,

  441. the sexual love. It's being expressed between a

  442. husband and a wife here as a way because the word of God is

  443. powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword.

  444. You should study and receive and instruction, and in the whole

  445. counsel of the word of God and all these things are intended to

  446. bless us. So, if you haven't read the Song

  447. of Solomon over your marriage bed and over you and your spouse

  448. together then do. So I feel a little bit strange

  449. with that and I I can understand that that's a common thing.

  450. That's probably a little bit of the Sexes.

  451. Gross thing. Like we have to kind of close

  452. the door, make sure the Lord's not watching, you know, like

  453. make sure he's not aware of what's going on in here.

  454. And in fact, just the opposite happens in The Song of Solomon,

  455. the Lord tells the couple he says drink drink enjoy one.

  456. Another like have added. This is a this is a banquet

  457. Feast that I prepared for you. This is a spiritual gifts.

  458. I've given to you, this is a physical gift, I've given to

  459. you. This is an emotional gift I've

  460. given to you enjoy. Drink deeply.

  461. Is the right thing at the right time and the right place, it's

  462. Rich. It's beautiful.

  463. Sex is more like poetry than it is calculus Song of Solomon.

  464. Shows us that it's more of a dance than it is a transaction.

  465. It's a song and it's not an equation.

  466. So this book is romantic and it is sexually obvious.

  467. A whole book of the Bible that has been dedicated to sexual

  468. love. There's no mention of making

  469. babies here, although that's a primary mention of of the sexual

  470. expression in Genesis Multiply, that's an important good and

  471. godly thing to do, but the Lord didn't have to make pleasure

  472. connected with it but he did. So there's no mention of making

  473. babies here but lots of obvious passion.

  474. So what do we see? When we see that sex is for

  475. pleasure, there are body parts. There are nerve endings, that

  476. are specifically created. They have no other purpose,

  477. other than pleasure, they don't accomplish anything other than

  478. that. Feels wonderful, that's

  479. delightful. This is a good gift from God.

  480. What else do we know about sex? Well, we know that, There is an

  481. emotional bond that's created. We know there's an emotional

  482. bond, that brings a great comfort to a marriage even when

  483. everybody's not all hot and bothered, even when everybody's

  484. not really excited to race to the bedroom together, we see.

  485. David and Bathsheba after their baby dies, the scripture says

  486. and David went into her to comfort her and you could you

  487. could also tell that story a different way.

  488. Hey, the baby just died. Can we do it now but that's not

  489. what was happening at all. Now, could things be done,

  490. selfishly? Absolutely.

  491. They can be done selfishly but things can be done lovingly and

  492. there's a time and a place, right?

  493. There's an appropriateness to that but this married this

  494. couple was experiencing the bond, the Comfort.

  495. We need one another. We just need to be close.

  496. We're sad. We just need to be well, I'm not

  497. up for that right now. Well, that they weren't, I don't

  498. think either of them was particularly probably fired up

  499. like they probably were. Unfortunately when their Affair

  500. begin, when their Affair began, But in this moment, they're

  501. coming together. And they're saying, let's let's

  502. Comfort one another in this moment of sadness.

  503. So we see that there is a pleasure to sex, but we see that

  504. there's a comfort to sex. It's not always gonna be

  505. fireworks, said I was going to be, this is the most amazing

  506. thing that we've ever done the the best it's ever been.

  507. But have we loved one another? Have we cared for one another

  508. are we being compassionate? Or we being loving?

  509. Or we being vulnerable, but sex is not exclusively physical.

  510. If it was, we'd have no problem with our spouse.

  511. Sharing this gift with Else like it was a handshake.

  512. So the world acts, like they say, they treat it and they talk

  513. like well it's just, it's just that like we're just mammals

  514. like, we're just animals doing things, but it's not true and we

  515. know it. Well can you prove it out?

  516. Well, nature proves it out. Like this is a truth that we

  517. hold to be self-evident. This is a self-evident truth and

  518. I'm going to make myself Dumber by pretending it's not already

  519. obvious. We know this to be true.

  520. We a handshake is a surface level thing.

  521. A hug goes, Farther, a kiss goes farther, but then the act of

  522. marriage. A husband inserts himself into

  523. his wife's body. This is graphic.

  524. This is explicit and God says is very good in the context of

  525. marriage. This is a beautiful thing.

  526. That's the to literally becoming one flesh.

  527. Two separate bodies. Have actually literally joined

  528. together and they have sealed the Covenant, they made the

  529. Covenant vows they stood before God and the witnesses and they

  530. made the Covenant vows and they said I'm forsaking all others.

  531. Devoted to you and my sexual life is your sexual life and my

  532. body is no longer mine but it's now yours.

  533. But then sealing the marriage covenant happens by.

  534. Hey, let's go consummate this thing now, now we've made the

  535. vows and now we're the two were going to become one flesh.

  536. Literally. We're going to join so that

  537. there's no separation. We can't get any closer than in

  538. the sexual expression. In the Lord says, it's very

  539. good. It's all very good.

  540. We should note here that the whole Bible is about Jesus, the

  541. whole Bible is about Christ in the church.

  542. So there was some who would say No, No Song of Solomon is only

  543. about Christ in the church. It's a picture of Christ and his

  544. bride. Well, first of all, yes, it most

  545. definitely is about Christ and his bride just like David and

  546. Goliath is about Jesus defending us where the where the terrified

  547. Israelites but the one righteous one Rises up and defeats our

  548. enemy just like Moses and Israel points to Christ in the church.

  549. But those things were still literally there.

  550. There's things still literally happened.

  551. Moses was real, David was real. Solomon is why for real and the

  552. Holy Spirit Soul, good and saw fit to make it into the Canon of

  553. scripture, this design in this explanation of sexual expression

  554. between a husband and wife. So it's not one or the other,

  555. it's both and but we look at what's written.

  556. And we say, God, you're good. Help us to learn, help us to

  557. grow, renew our minds with your way, with your words.

  558. The problem with Renewing, Your Mind is the enemy is also trying

  559. to unrwa new it constantly. We don't get to the place where,

  560. where, oh, I'm finished now. Well, unfortunately, you still

  561. I'll live in the world and there's still an enemy and

  562. they're still demonic attack and they're still fleshly

  563. Temptation. So the renewing, the Mind

  564. process isn't a finish line that we're ever going to cross.

  565. It's a life that we're going to keep living.

  566. It's a walk that we're going to keep walking.

  567. So this is important. It's not man.

  568. I heard A good sermon one time that you need.

  569. Fresh manna that was yesterday's man.

  570. That that's not going to keep until tomorrow.

  571. And this goes with all of our lives, this is why you must feed

  572. on and love the Bible. This is why you must continue.

  573. To read your Bible and love God's word.

  574. So, the truth is, there's a lot of mystery here in sex, but we

  575. recognize that there are depths to intimacy.

  576. And as we said before the physical images, the spiritual

  577. and its proper context. Sex has been called spiritual

  578. warfare. I heard somebody say that.

  579. That way. One time again it's one of those

  580. things will can you prove that you have inverse of that?

  581. No but I know it's true. I've seen I've Perience.

  582. I've heard testimony of just where the bond of a husband and

  583. wife was a protection and a blessing.

  584. So even knowing that sex is a spiritual warfare.

  585. That's taking place a blessing for the body of Christ.

  586. A blessing for marriage. When it comes to sexuality.

  587. The marriage bed has everything that you need and nothing that

  588. you don't need. Everything that you need in

  589. sexuality, can be fully found in fully expressed in the marriage

  590. bed. But the truth is this sex is a

  591. fire. Sex is a passionate fire which

  592. is why she gives the warning. He or she says, Daughters of

  593. Jerusalem so she's with her husband now but she's saying I'm

  594. warning, you young sisters to the virgin's to her to her

  595. virgin friends who would have been celebrating her marriage.

  596. She's saying don't awaken love before its time.

  597. Don't put the wrong place, the wrong thing in the wrong place.

  598. If I was to build a fire right here in this room, that's the

  599. wrong thing in the wrong place. We lit a building on fire.

  600. We've destroyed something. But if I build a fire in the

  601. fireplace or in the wood stove, what have we done?

  602. We've warned the home. We can cook on it.

  603. It's the proper thing. Sex is a fire.

  604. You can be warmed by, or you can be burned by it.

  605. Can a man, take a fire into his chest and not be burned.

  606. Can you pick up sex with with your hands and not be burned by

  607. it? No.

  608. What does that referencing? Well, that's referencing sexual

  609. immorality. I can't I can't experience

  610. sexual immorality in my life and not bear.

  611. The scars that come from it. There's wounds, there's damage

  612. and there's consequence that comes from that.

  613. But if sex is in the fireplace, if the fire is, sorry if the

  614. fires in the fireplace, then it can warm your home.

  615. It can cook your food. Fire can bring good memories,

  616. but if fire isn't in the right place, it can destroy a home.

  617. It can destroy a forest or it can destroy a city.

  618. It's a fire. Where is it going to be one of

  619. the marriage bed. That's the fire we want.

  620. Praise God for it but outside of it is destructive.

  621. The fireplace is marriage, everywhere else is sinful and

  622. destructive sexual immorality, lust adultery pornography

  623. homosexuality and Beyond are all picking up fire with your bare

  624. hands. So sex is a very important part

  625. of marriage. But like we said, it's not the

  626. only part, but we also need to say that if a husband or wife is

  627. interested in them in their spouse sexually, then they're

  628. going to show their expression of love in every other our area

  629. of life as well. It's not going to just show up

  630. in one area. It's the wrong thing to do to

  631. pursue your wife. Only at the moment of I'm

  632. interested in you and I'd like to take you to the bedroom.

  633. Well y-you just said it's physical, its spiritual and it's

  634. emotional. Well, it is, and that's true.

  635. And that makes sense. And yet a man who loves his wife

  636. is always going to be pursuing her in other ways as well.

  637. So a husband is to pursue his wife.

  638. Continually wife is to pursue her husband continually, but

  639. it's true that there is such a thing as a sex drive.

  640. And God has given the sex drive to us and generally a man is

  641. going to have a higher sex drive than a woman.

  642. We're saying some things that are common knowledge here and

  643. again, I'm speaking in generalizations, but this drive

  644. is for us as men, not something to be apologize for not

  645. something to be ashamed of, but allowing us to drive.

  646. Not just directly in a straight line towards sex, but to drive

  647. us to be the man that our wives would want to be with.

  648. Anyway, allow your sex drive Brothers to be something that

  649. fuels you to say, let me bless. My wife and every way possible

  650. and in the same way, a wife is, so why have a sex drive as well?

  651. Praise God, that's a good and wonderful thing.

  652. But it's also again to be fuel for your tank to say, how can I

  653. pursue my husband in every way? How do we have this Rich bond in

  654. in all of our marriage? So that the marriage bed, just

  655. becomes the obvious expression rather than this is a nightmare.

  656. But maybe we can, at least go to the bedroom and enjoy one

  657. another. That's not what we're after

  658. here. What we're after is, there's

  659. this Rich Bond and of course. And of course this too and of

  660. Course, this, at any given moment, we could go in this

  661. direction because there's such the Baseline of Health.

  662. There's such the Assumption of love, and it's so obvious, and

  663. so present all the time. Well, we don't always get that,

  664. right. He didn't always get that right.

  665. She didn't always get that right.

  666. Oh, it sounds like you married, a human being just like the rest

  667. of us. Which is why we offer Grace,

  668. which is why we offer kindness. This is why we offer

  669. forgiveness. And which is why we also need to

  670. make plain our desires. Hey Especially for a wife.

  671. Hey, here's what I'm feeling. Here's what I'm feeling.

  672. Hey, I'm feeling a little forgotten today.

  673. Oh, okay. Now he can choose to do

  674. something with that. Now, he can actually step into

  675. that go. Hey, I love you, I miss you.

  676. I'm sorry, I've been out of it. I've been, I've been focused on

  677. work rather than accusing him and judging him ladies.

  678. Remember like we talked about in the submission sir, your this

  679. you're awful, you're too much. All these things like now, here

  680. we go. Who can who can win this fight

  681. instead of, here's what I'm feeling or the husband in the

  682. same way? Hey, hey, beautiful, I got plans

  683. for you. Later.

  684. Well, I don't know. I don't know if I'm feeling it.

  685. Okay, well then, then we can work towards this together

  686. because this is a priority for us.

  687. A wife is not to be the keeper of this ex-husband is not to be

  688. the secret of the sex. God is The Giver of the Sexes to

  689. marriage. There's not one who says, well

  690. I'll hold it and if you jump through the Hoops properly, then

  691. perhaps I shall reward you. This is a sin to be repented of

  692. it is common. It's in every sitcom you've ever

  693. seen and it is the it is the Baseline assumption for marriage

  694. in the west and it's sinful It should be repented of I kind of

  695. like that because I was away. I was holding power.

  696. I bet you did and you should repent of it because it's not

  697. surrender. It's not submission again.

  698. A husband and wife should be eager to please one another.

  699. You can express your desire but you should also receive pleasure

  700. by giving pleasure, we're just talking more practically here.

  701. This is a, this is something that some couples forget about,

  702. there's a selfishness that can come into place like, well, I

  703. got what I was interested in. Well, your spouse is your

  704. priority as well, like you should enjoy.

  705. Oi and have a great, have a great time with your spouse.

  706. And yet, you should be all in for whatever your spouse

  707. interests, and desires are the same thing would go with

  708. frequency. What should our frequency be?

  709. I'm not going to be the referee and your bedroom, but are both

  710. spouses satisfied are both spouses happy with where things

  711. are. Well, this one is but this one

  712. isn't. Okay, well, the one who isn't

  713. then we want to bring them to a place of satisfaction and

  714. desire. We want to give and welders,

  715. it's not that simple. I understand that literally I do

  716. this stuff for a living and I Way farther into the weeds, a

  717. lot of times. And so I'm not naive.

  718. So I don't want you to think that was just an idealistic

  719. pitch, and this guy doesn't have any grasp on reality, and

  720. there's a lot of details, there's a lot of factors,

  721. they're all of which we have a way forward through all of,

  722. which can be overcome, all of which can be overcome.

  723. How can you say that? So confidently?

  724. Because I know my God, I know who he is, and I know what he's

  725. intended for you. This series is not an idealistic

  726. pitch of, hey, you know what I knocked.

  727. It out of the park and you can too.

  728. Why? Because I didn't, because I

  729. didn't and many haven't. But after sin, there comes

  730. repentance. And it's after my sin and

  731. ignorance that I started to grow and started to see God's best.

  732. And I've seen it in many others, but circumstances aside God has

  733. a path forward. So no matter where you are, no

  734. matter where you are in your sex, life in your marriage, you

  735. can always find the next PATH forward.

  736. But again, this is done with a focus on How can I be a giver?

  737. How can I care for the person that I love so much?

  738. Is their sin that I need to repent of.

  739. Like we said, this fire of fornication, it all has to be

  740. repented of. We can't minimize it.

  741. It's, it's prevalent in our culture.

  742. It's prevalent in the church, it's not, it's not exclusively

  743. with men, either. It's it happens with men.

  744. It happens with women. Pornography is damaging, and

  745. destroying people's brains literally.

  746. It's damaging people's marriage beds.

  747. All these things are sins to be, to be brought About to be

  748. exposed to be confessed. Well, I don't want to do that

  749. because of the shame, except that Christ will forgive and

  750. that Christ brings Grace. So there's a lot more that we

  751. could say. But what we want to do is, we

  752. want to understand the principles, the principles are

  753. God, made it, he calls it good. So we also call it very good.

  754. It's not a gift that wives gives a husbands or give their

  755. husbands give two wives. It's a gift that God has given

  756. to marriage. We can pursue it with joy.

  757. We can pursue it with freedom and we can navigate any other

  758. roadblocks along the way. Well, I've got Abuser, I've got

  759. these triggers. Hey we're going to be

  760. compassionate towards one another.

  761. You got the safest place you're ever going to find in the

  762. marriage bed in the marriage. Covenant, I'm with you, I'm for

  763. you to the end. But honey husband wife, let's

  764. move forward. Ford for doesn't mean 100 miles

  765. an hour. Don't be afraid.

  766. Ford can mean, let's take our foot off, the brake, our foots,

  767. been on the brake, potentially I'm giving an example here.

  768. Maybe we haven't even started the car in some of our cases.

  769. They were going to, uh, it's it's this, it's this thing that

  770. we've just, we've put aside, we stop talking about it or we just

  771. don't we only fight about it. I want you to have real Freedom

  772. here. I want you to have real

  773. breakthrough because I know the Lord.

  774. On the other side of it has a lot of help and a lot of Hope

  775. for you. To close it out.

  776. Obviously everything that the Lord is designed is always a

  777. picture of Christ in the church. And there are some who are who

  778. would Rage Against the idea that that the sexual expression is a

  779. reference to the New Birth. Honestly, I can't unsee it.

  780. It's hard for me to not see the obvious design of What the Lord

  781. Has Done in the act of sex and in the act of how the Lord would

  782. fill his people and give them new life.

  783. And the way a man would do the same thing.

  784. His wife like to not make that connection seems to me like,

  785. difficult to, not to not draw those lines.

  786. And yet, at the same time, we never want to sexualize our

  787. relationship with the Lord, anything like that would be

  788. demonic and we would reject that entirely, that would be utter

  789. nonsense. Foolishness and disgusting.

  790. So there's there's nothing in scripture taught that way and

  791. yet everything that the Lord has done, I'm closing with this, my

  792. point is, everything comes back to Jesus.

  793. So as we keep first things first, as we are people who love

  794. the Lord, as we were people who Of his word as we were, people

  795. who are humble and submitted to him, people of the table of God,

  796. who come to him for forgiveness, who come to him for help, who

  797. come to him for, Hope who come to him for guidance, we can find

  798. a path forward here because the Lord has given it to his people.

  799. We no longer need to be confused.

  800. We no longer need to be ashamed. Well, I still don't know what it

  801. looks like. Well then that's what that's

  802. what we want to do with our Q&A Service as well.
