  1. Thank you, turn in your Bible to Luke chapter 16.

    Luke 16 chapter mention

  2. We've been using the Apostles Creed to study.

  3. The Bible, the Apostles Creed is not the Bible, but the Apostles

  4. Creed is a summary of a Central Christian doctrine.

  5. So we said it's super helpful to have Clarity on.

  6. Hey, what really matters. Well, I believe of a bit here

  7. and a bit there, well, there's plenty of freedom and there's

  8. plenty of open discussion or hot debate among Christians on

  9. different subject matter. But there's some things that are

  10. core that that to say you're a Christian means you believe

  11. these things, or if you don't, you will soon because you're

  12. just new and you're still learning and that's okay, too.

  13. But we've been walking through the Apostles, Creed to see, what

  14. do we. What does a Believer supposed to

  15. believe? I'm going to read it right now,

  16. to you, the entire Creed, at the end of the service will read it

  17. together. I believe in God, the Father

  18. Almighty creator of Heaven and Earth.

  19. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son our Lord, who was

  20. conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.

  21. He suffered under Pontius Pilate was crucified died and was

  22. buried. He descended to Hell.

  23. The third day. He rose again from the dead.

  24. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God,

  25. the Father Almighty from there, he will come to judge the living

  26. and the dead, I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic

  27. Church. The communion of saints, the

  28. Forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the

  29. life Everlasting. Amen.

  30. Do we bring my water? Bubba, can you go get it?

  31. Thank you, son. So today where we are in the

  32. Creed. We're at he descended to Hell

  33. the third day. He rose again from the dead.

  34. So he descended to hell is one that's, you know, important to

  35. explain because there's been a lot of confusion around it.

  36. As the as the language has been changed over the years, in the

  37. original writing of it. It was he descended into Hades

  38. but even then what are we talking about?

  39. What does that mean? We're not going to do a super

  40. deep dive here. Why?

  41. Well, because the scripture doesn't give us a ton to work

  42. with on the subject matter. But we have enough so we might

  43. be like a rock skipping across the top of the water on this

  44. particular portion but we're going to put our emphasis on the

  45. most important thing which is Jesus's.

  46. Resurrection thank you man. So I want you to turn in your

  47. Bible to Luke chapter 16, did I already tell you that?

    Luke 16 chapter mention

  48. I'll go there too now. Luke chapter 16 and verse 19 to

    Luke 16 chapter mention

  49. read verses 19 through 31 The rich man and Lazarus is the is

  50. the story that Jesus is telling here.

  51. There was a rich, man. So Jesus is talking.

  52. There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine,

  53. linen, and who feasted sumptuously every day and at his

  54. gate was laid. A poor man named Lazarus,

  55. covered with sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from

  56. the rich man's table. Moreover, even the dogs came and

  57. licked. His sores is a miserable

  58. scenario. The poor man died.

  59. Died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side.

  60. The rich man also died and was buried and was in Hades being in

  61. torment. He lifted up his eyes and saw

  62. Abraham far off and Lazarus. That's the poor man Lazarus at

  63. his side. So already you might be saying

  64. what's going on here. Well, that's a great question.

  65. What in the world is going on here?

  66. We've got Abraham, we've got Lazarus.

  67. So if we've got Abraham, we also know we have all of the Old

  68. Testament. Thanks anybody who believed in

  69. in, in the Messiah by faith who was saved, they didn't go to

  70. heaven, they went to this place that's come to be known as

  71. Abraham's side. It's been called Abraham's

  72. bosom, it's been called Paradise.

  73. This is a place of comfort is a place of Peace.

  74. This was a place of security was a place for God's people,

  75. they're absolutely secured by Faith by the grace of God and

  76. they're comforted but they can't yet enter into heaven.

  77. Well why not? Well you can't enter into the

  78. presence of God yet because the Blood of Christ hasn't yet been

  79. shed. He has not yet opened the way

  80. nobody goes to the father. Except through him.

  81. So they had by faith that taking that place.

  82. So this is a temporary thing is not to be confused with some

  83. Purgatory. You can't change your destiny at

  84. this point wherever you are. When you die, you will be.

  85. You're either secure in the old Covenant, you were secure and

  86. Abraham's bosom to be later delivered all the way into

  87. heaven with the Lord Jesus himself or you're going to be in

  88. torment. So this is what we see, the rich

  89. man is in torment and Lazarus who had put his faith in the

  90. Lord. We see them separated.

  91. So the rich, man. He calls out.

  92. Father, Abraham and verse. 24 have mercy on me and send

  93. Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool.

  94. My tongue for, I am in anguish in this flame so they can see

  95. each other. They can communicate with each

  96. other. This is a bit weird.

  97. Let's be honest, right? It's a bit strange.

  98. And yet Jesus is talking and this is exactly what the

  99. scenario was. We don't know what the realm.

  100. Is were like we don't know what the chasm was like, we don't

  101. know what the Divide was like, but we know that there was a

  102. degree of interaction that could take place there.

  103. So this is the realm of the dead.

  104. As the old town has the Old Testament Saints would have

  105. understood it so they weren't unconscious when you die.

  106. You're not unconscious your physical body obviously is but

  107. your you don't lose Consciousness.

  108. You're still aware and you're still somewhere.

  109. Everybody is somewhere at all times and they're conscious of

  110. it. And this is what we see

  111. happening. So, the rich man is begging for

  112. mercy, he's pleading to Father Abraham, but Abraham said, child

  113. verse 25, remember that you and your lifetime, you received your

  114. good things and Lazarus in like manner, received bad things.

  115. But now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish.

  116. And besides all this between us and you as a great Chasm, has

  117. been fixed in order that those who would pass from here to you

  118. may not be able and none may cross from there.

  119. To us and he said, then I beg you father.

  120. So the rich man I beg you send send Lazarus to my father's

  121. house. This is not the Lazarus who

  122. Jesus was raised from the dead. This is a different Lazarus but

  123. send Lazarus to my father's house for I have five brothers

  124. so that he may warn them. Lest they may also come to this

  125. place of Torment. So he's saying, please lie, let

  126. Lazarus be resurrected, go warn my brother's so that this

  127. wouldn't happen to them. Inhale, people are even pleading

  128. still for Mercy for others. To go.

  129. I deserve this. I know that but let somebody

  130. else be spared from this, but Abraham said they have Moses and

  131. the prophets will Moses is literally with Abraham.

  132. Moses is over there with all the old test.

  133. David is over there. Every Old Testament saying, who

  134. put their faith in the Lord Rahab.

  135. They're all over here with Abraham.

  136. He says, but they have Moses. What does he mean?

  137. He means they have the scriptures.

  138. The scriptures from Moses, they have Moses and the prophets, all

  139. the prophets are literally technically with Abraham and He

  140. needs to have the writings, they have the word of God.

  141. Is what Abraham is telling the rich man, they have Moses and

  142. the prophets. Let them hear them and he said,

  143. no Father Abraham. But if someone goes to them from

  144. the dead, they will repent Abraham.

  145. He said to him, if they do not hear Moses and the prophets,

  146. neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the

  147. dead? So what do we see here?

  148. There's a lot. We could teach, but we're going

  149. to focus on specifically. We're talking about Jesus

  150. descending to the realm of the Dead.

  151. We need to clarify immediately. When Jesus went to hell, Jesus

  152. did not suffer in Flames. Jesus did not suffer torment.

  153. After the cross, when Jesus said it is finished.

  154. He meant it is finished because it was finished.

  155. So, Jesus did not go into torment.

  156. He did not go suffer anguish at the hands of demons or anything

  157. or Flame or anything like that when Jesus went to hell, jeez.

  158. This went to this realm of the Dead, this realm where we've got

  159. torment is taking place and over here.

  160. We also see that Abraham side, Abraham's bosom.

  161. This place is Paradise. But what else do we see about

  162. this place? We see that Abraham was

  163. conscious, Abraham could see and communicate with those in hell.

  164. We see that there was a separation and like I said, this

  165. has been called Abraham's bosom, or Abraham's side, or Paradise.

  166. This was the place that Old Testament believers who were

  167. saved by faith were waiting for the Messiah.

  168. They didn't go into heaven before us.

  169. We would go in together through Christ as Hebrews tells us.

  170. So Jesus opened the way to God through his death and now those

  171. Saints could have sinned with Jesus to the father Go to Luke

    Luke 23 chapter mention

  172. chapter 23, turn a couple pages to the ride.

  173. Some have argued that Jesus had to go to hell, and Jesus had to

  174. suffer torment in hell in our substitute in our place.

  175. Because if he didn't, if Jesus didn't go there, that seems like

  176. a logical point of Jesus didn't go to hell and suffering

  177. torment, then don't we still need to?

  178. And the answer is no, because the full wrath and fury of God,

  179. was satisfied with the torment. That Christ went through on the

  180. cross. It was it was complete.

  181. It was thorough, it was absolute.

  182. And it was enough, which is why Jesus gave up his life at the

  183. right time and said, it's now finished, it's done, I have

  184. completed the work mission accomplished.

  185. I have absorbed the full Fury and the wrath of God and

  186. shielded everybody else from it. So how else do we know?

  187. Jesus didn't go into torment. Luke, 23, verse 39, Jesus is on

    Luke 23:39

  188. the cross. One of the criminals who are

  189. hanging railed at him saying, are you not the Christ?

  190. Save yourself and us, but the other man on the cross rebuked

  191. him saying, do you not fear God, since you are under the same

  192. sentence of condemnation? We indeed, justly.

  193. He's like, we're suffering for the right reason we deserve it.

  194. We're receiving the due reward for our Deeds.

  195. But this man, And has done nothing wrong.

  196. And he said to Jesus. Jesus, Remember me.

  197. When you come into your kingdom, and Jesus said to him, truly, I

  198. say to you today, you will be with me in Paradise.

  199. He didn't say today, I've got some other work to go do still

  200. I've got to go suffer, the torment of no, but today, you

  201. will join me in Paradise. So the Lord Jesus is talking.

  202. We know that today, this man was going to be with Jesus the same

  203. exact day that they were hanging on the cross.

  204. He Comforts him and says, you've been saved.

  205. You've put your faith in the Messiah and you have been

  206. rescued by God's Wonderful Grace, through your faith. so,

  207. we see that this paradise that Jesus is mentioning, we know

  208. that this is the same places, Abraham's bosom, this Abraham's

  209. side, this place of comfort, I'm going to take you one more

  210. place, and then we're moving on to the resurrection, go to 1st

  211. Peter, First Peter chapter 3. Verse 18 through 20 for Christ.

    1 Peter 3 chapter mention

  212. Also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous

  213. that he might bring us to God. Praise God.

  214. Being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit in

  215. which he went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison because

  216. they formerly did not obey when God's patience waited in the

  217. days of Noah. While the ark was being prepared

  218. in which a few that is is eight persons were brought slate

  219. safely through water. So what do we what else?

  220. Do we see? Happen here.

  221. So when Jesus goes down and he descended, we know that he

  222. descended into the underworld. He descended into this place of

  223. comfort. He descended into this place of

  224. also hell. Because how do we know?

  225. Well, he preaches to the spirits that are in prison.

  226. So why are we not going super deep and all this again?

  227. Because the scriptures don't give us a ton of detail.

  228. So we're wise to say, well here's what the word says,

  229. here's what the word doesn't say and they're still Plenty of

  230. interpretation or well. I think it meant this, I think

  231. he went there, but here's what we know, we know that Jesus went

  232. and he preached to those who are in prison, why?

  233. Because they formerly did not obey.

  234. So he preached to someone who had sinned during the days of

  235. Noah there is, it's Up For Debate as to whether or not.

  236. Did he preach to the particular demon spirits that were most

  237. responsible for the wicked Rebellion?

  238. At that time, that would have been a unique thing because we

  239. know the demon Spirits aren't yet imprisoned, right?

  240. They're free to roam about and yet.

  241. Maybe some are imprisoned, the ones who joined with human

  242. women, or maybe he's preaching to all of them.

  243. We do know that what his message was to those in hell.

  244. It was not a message of good news to them.

  245. It was not a, hey guys, I broke you out.

  246. That was not, it was a message of Victory.

  247. It was a message of his conquering of sin.

  248. This is probably part of him. The triumphing over them in.

  249. It, triumphing over the evil, spirits triumphing over death,

  250. hell, and the grave because he has the keys to them all.

  251. Now, So what does it mean? When we say, Jesus descended

  252. into hell? That's that's all that's about.

  253. As far as I'm willing to go as a Christian and as a pastor.

  254. But like this is not a subject while pound the pulpit and say

  255. we can do this and this and this we know God's word is true.

  256. We know God's word is safe. We know guys weren't as good,

  257. that's what I'm sure of and beyond that, we know that he

  258. descended and we know that he released all the saints and that

  259. he made the way to the father. There is no more Abraham side.

  260. There is no more Abraham's bosom.

  261. All of the Saints old new and All to come are with the Lord.

  262. This is why Paul does it say to be absent from the body is to be

  263. by Abraham and the rest of the rest of the Believers.

  264. For now in the New Covenant to be absent from the body is to be

  265. present with the Lord. When we die, we never die.

  266. We will live forever because of what Jesus has done.

  267. Amen. Turn to Luke chapter 9 The

    Luke 9 chapter mention

  268. Resurrection, the Cornerstone of everything.

  269. If there's no Resurrection, then there's no nothing.

  270. If Jesus was not raised from the dead.

  271. Then everything is pointless. Because, as we've often said, if

  272. it's not Jesus, it's not anybody.

  273. And if Jesus didn't rise from the dead, we have nothing, you

  274. have, no hope. You have no future, eat drink

  275. and be merry for tomorrow. You die.

  276. And you will enter into Oblivion all of this apparently came from

  277. nothing which came from nothing which came from nothing.

  278. That's its own eternity. That you know, secularist.

  279. Oh. They're dealing with in their,

  280. in their, in their pride and their so-called logic, but we

  281. Rejoice, because Jesus really is alive.

  282. And he really did come back from the dead Luke 9:22.

    Luke 9:22

  283. Saying the son of man, this is Jesus talking to son of man must

  284. suffer, many things and be rejected by the elders and the

  285. chief priests and the scribes and be killed.

  286. And on the third day, be raised everybody, Jesus predicted his

  287. resurrection multiple times, he didn't Blindside anybody with

  288. it. He told his disciples over and

  289. over and over. We have multiple occasions in

  290. the gospels where he says, hey, I'm going to be crucified, but

  291. I'm going to be raised on. The third day, I'm going to be

  292. crucified. I'm going to be raised on the

  293. third. Third day, I'm going to be

  294. crucified. I'm going to be raised on the

  295. third day and sometimes they're like, what could this mean it

  296. means I'm going to be crucified and I'm going to be raised on

  297. the third day in accordance with the scriptures.

  298. I'm not making up something new. I'm fulfilling something old but

  299. still unfortunately. On the third day they weren't

  300. waiting with their welcome back Jesus posters or anything.

  301. They were like, no way he's come back from the dead.

  302. Yeah, just like he said he would because all of his promises are

  303. true and he keeps his word Jesus.

  304. Was resurrected. Jesus came back from the dead,

  305. he predicted his resurrection and then he follows through.

  306. We believe Jesus rose from the dead on the third day.

  307. And because of that, we believe that all of his other promises

  308. are true. Everything he said, everything

  309. he's done, we're secure, we take great comfort.

  310. And we know that, if that one comes, then all the rest will

  311. follow anybody can prophesy, right?

  312. And he got, anybody can say, I'm from God, anybody can say

  313. anything. But Jesus did things Jesus had

  314. acts of power. Power.

  315. He had the confirmation of literally, the father's voice.

  316. He had the presence of the holy spirit, so he had his Earthly

  317. Ministry and they said, give us a sign.

  318. Give us a sign and you're thinking he's giving plenty of

  319. signs. He says no sign will be given.

  320. No sign will be given to this Wiccan adulterous generation

  321. except for the sign of Jonah. The sign of Jonah who descended

  322. into the depths of the Earth for three days.

  323. And then comes back out. That's what he said that he said

  324. that's the sign that I'm going to give you.

  325. And he gave that one as well, no sign will be given except the

  326. greatest sign ever. The most important sign of all

  327. time Go to John chapter 20. John chapter 20, I'm going to

John 20 chapter mention John 20 chapter mention

  328. read to you from verse 1. We're going to read the whole

  329. narrative here of the Resurrection.

  330. Now, on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene came to the

  331. tomb early. Why are we reading the whole

  332. portion? Because the word of God is

  333. powerful. It's alive.

  334. It's active and it will bring you Faith better than my sermon

  335. or my bullet points and I could say well the Bible Jesus is

  336. Alive. And now let me put it in my own

  337. words, the word of God will actually bring along with it.

  338. Faith for you to believe it, to be encouraged to be refreshed.

  339. And to say that is solid, I can sink my heart into that.

  340. I'm now on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene came to the

  341. tomb early while it was still dark and saw that the stone had

  342. been taken away from the tomb. She ran, and she went to Simon

  343. Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved and

  344. said to them, they have taken taken the Lord, out of the Tomb

  345. and we don't know where they have laid him.

  346. So Peter went out with the other disciple and they were going

  347. toward the tomb, both of them were running together.

  348. But the other disciple outran, Peter and reached the tomb,

  349. first stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloth lying there,

  350. but did not go in, then Simon Peter came following And went

  351. into the tomb, he saw the linen cloths lying there and the face

  352. cloth which had been on Jesus head.

  353. Look at all the detail that John gives here is, he's given the

  354. account of it happened. I was there that day.

  355. This is why. John the one writing this gospel

  356. was willing later to be boiled in oil for the glory of God.

  357. They're saying stop preaching Jesus.

  358. He's saying, I can't, I can't, I was there, I was there.

  359. I saw the empty tomb. Yeah, but maybe somebody stole

  360. away and then I I spent the next 40 days with him.

  361. And then what happened and then he flew up into heaven and then

  362. he continued to work miracles. As he poured out the Holy

  363. Spirit, I can't shut up. Well then we'll kill you.

  364. You may, you may try. They were unsuccessful and

  365. finally, they kept trying to kill John eventually, just sent

  366. him off to an island there like just chain him up on some Island

  367. where he can't get to anybody else.

  368. That was the best they could do. This is John He believed in the

  369. resurrection of Jesus. Verse 8, then the other

  370. disciple. Peter.

  371. Oh sorry. Then John.

  372. Then the other disciple that's John talking about himself who

  373. had reached the tomb. First also went in and he saw

  374. and believed For as yet, they did not understand the scripture

  375. that he must rise from the dead. Even though he'd been teaching

  376. there still, they couldn't see it.

  377. They were still expecting the Messiah who was just going to

  378. come raise up an army crush the Romans and go.

  379. Okay, it's Jewish World. Now that's what they were

  380. looking forward to. That's what they wanted.

  381. They wanted the that kind of dominance.

  382. Oh, the Lord is dominant, but they didn't understand the

  383. subversive Kingdom. The way it was going to grow

  384. like a mustard seed. They didn't understand it yet,

  385. even though he had told them and shown them.

  386. Them and how it starts small, it's the smallest seed in the

  387. garden but eventually it covers everything and all the birds can

  388. come and it put shade on everybody.

  389. Then the disciples went back to their homes, verse 11, but Mary

  390. stood weeping outside the tomb. And as she wept, she stooped to

  391. look into the tomb. And she saw two angels in white

  392. sitting, where the body of Jesus had been laying one at the head

  393. and one at the feet and they said, to her woman, why are you

  394. weeping? She said to them, they have

  395. taken away my Lord and I do not know where they have laid him.

  396. Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing,

  397. but she did not know that. It was Jesus.

  398. Jesus said to her woman, why are you weeping?

  399. Who are you? Seeking supposing him to be the

  400. gardener she said to him, sir, if you have carried him away,

  401. tell me where you've laid him. I'll take him away.

  402. Jesus said to her Mary. She turned and said to him in

  403. Aramaic rabboni which means teacher, Jesus said, don't cling

  404. to me for. I have yet I have not yet

  405. ascended to my to the father, but go to my brothers and say to

  406. them, I am ascending to my father and your father to my

  407. God, and your God. Mary Magdalene went and

  408. announced to the disciples. I have seen the Lord and that he

  409. said these things to her and that he had said these things to

  410. her on the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the

  411. doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the

  412. Jews, Jesus. This came and stood among them

  413. and said peace be with you. When he had said this, he showed

  414. them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad

  415. when they saw the Lord. Yeah, I bet they were.

  416. Jesus said to them again, peace be with you as the father has

  417. sent me even, so I'm sending you and we had when he had said

  418. this, he breathed on them and said to them receive the Holy

  419. Spirit. Many theologians believe, this

  420. is the moment that they were born again.

  421. This is the Time anyone was born again, do we know for sure.

  422. I don't know, but it's possible. We know it's some point that

  423. they were made brand new just like we all have to be when he

  424. had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, receive

  425. the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any,

  426. they are forgiven them. If you withhold forgiveness, for

  427. many it is withheld. It's hard to imagine the joy in

  428. the Ecstasy that they we would have been experiencing.

  429. Are you kidding me? Is this real, we've spent the

  430. past three years with you, you died.

  431. It was all. Over.

  432. We've seen a lot of people crucified, but now you're with

  433. us. Again, this is happening.

  434. And not only is this happening, this one that we love so dearly

  435. like, how crazy must it have been for those in the front row,

  436. to realize the significance of this moment of History, like the

  437. whole universe was built by you and here you are with me and I

  438. get to be. I've walked with you, I know

  439. you. I love you.

  440. You're calling me in your mission.

  441. It's so significant. It's so overwhelming.

  442. This is the same joy that you feel.

  443. Our hearts, because Jesus is Calling You, he draws all men to

  444. himself as he is lifted up. He calls everybody and says,

  445. yeah, I love you like that. I love you.

  446. Like the 12. Now, Thomas, one of the twelve

  447. called the twin was not with them when Jesus came.

  448. So, the other disciples told him we have seen the Lord, but he

  449. said to them, unless I see his hands, the mark of the nails and

  450. place my finger into the mark of the nails and place in place my

  451. hand into his side. He's saying, because I know what

  452. they did with that spear, unless I can see all that, I will never

  453. believe eight days later his disciples were inside again and

  454. Thomas was with them although the doors were locked.

  455. Jesus came and stood among them and said peace be with you.

  456. Then he said to Thomas I like alcohols him out right away.

  457. He's like, Hey Thomas you weren't here the other day I

  458. love you, man. He's like, hey you've been,

  459. you've been saying some stuff you I know what you said, Hey

  460. Thomas, put your finger here. See my hands.

  461. And put out your hand and place it into my side.

  462. No, I'm okay. I don't need to I'd rather not

  463. now do not disbelieve but believe Thomas answered him,

  464. poor Thomas, always gets a bad rap, right?

  465. But Thomas gets it right here. Thomas answered him, my Lord.

  466. And my God. Jesus said to him, have you

  467. believed because you have seen me blessed are those who have

  468. not seen? And yet have believed blessed

  469. are all those insult Church who have not seen, but they still

  470. believe. Now, Jesus did many other signs

  471. in the presence of the disciples which are not written in this

  472. book, but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus

  473. is the Christ, the son of God, and that by believing, you may

  474. have life in his name, Thomas also believed, and there are in

  475. the resurrection. In of Jesus so much.

  476. So that Thomas goes on to disciple and evangelize all of

  477. India Thomas. If I remember correctly, he gets

  478. killed by. It wasn't pleasant.

  479. I remember that. I think he gets shot with

  480. arrows. I think was Thomas is execution

  481. why he did it joyfully. Why?

  482. So I can obtain a better Resurrection.

  483. Shut up. Quit talking about Jesus.

  484. I can I was there. I put my fingers through his

  485. hands thrust my hand into his side.

  486. The resurrection of Jesus is a logical event, it is a

  487. historical event. It is an actual event.

  488. Jesus is body is not on the earth, Jesus is body ascended.

  489. He his feet left, the planet, and he ascended into heaven, and

  490. they watched, and then the Angels were there.

  491. And so why are you looking up into the sky?

  492. He said he's going to come back the same way that you've seen

  493. him going. All of his promises are true.

  494. Everything's going to happen exactly.

  495. The way he said it will how do you know?

  496. Because he proved it all With the Resurrection, The

  497. Resurrection is the absolute stamp of approval for everything

  498. else. That Jesus is done.

  499. Jesus is Alive. He stays on the earth, 40 days.

  500. After the resurrection, he appears to over 500 people.

  501. During that time, then he ascends into heaven, while his

  502. disciples are watching. From there, they go.

  503. On to turn the world upside down because Jesus is present tense

  504. alive. Proving his identity in earning

  505. victory over the, the last part of atoms curse, which is death

  506. So, the resurrection gives Jesus's death the Divine

  507. endorsement of God, the God had gives the Divine endorsement of

  508. Jesus. Death will Jesus died for my

  509. sins yet, but a lot of people died on a cross thousands and

  510. thousands, and thousands and thousands of people died on the

  511. cross. There wasn't just one person who

  512. died on the cross Jesus, the only person who ever died on the

  513. cross. Not true, not even close.

  514. Tens of thousands of people. Hundreds, maybe of thousands of

  515. people died on the cross. What made this guy?

  516. So different? Well, It was the three days

  517. later thing that made him so different.

  518. That's what proved that he died for my sins.

  519. I don't know, but he sure died the three days later.

  520. We now see the stamp of the father's approval saying his

  521. sacrifice has been received. Your debt has been paid, so

  522. plenty died on a cross, but only one had the power to take up his

  523. own life again. Plenty of died on the cross, but

  524. only one had innocent blood to cleanse us.

  525. All plenty died on the cross, but only one defeated death.

  526. He'll and the grave and holds the keys to them all.

  527. And only one Reigns on the throne to this day because of

  528. the Resurrection, we believe our sins are forgiven because of the

  529. Resurrection, we believe Jesus is gone to prepare a place for

  530. us because he told us, he said, if it wasn't, so I would have

  531. told you, you can trust. Jesus is word because Jesus has

  532. been resurrected. We believe that he's coming back

  533. again. Go to First Corinthians chapter

    1 Corinthians 15 chapter mention

  534. 15. I don't know where I left you,

  535. but that's where you're going. First Corinthians, 15.

  536. Paul writing to the Corinthian Church.

  537. Bringing encouragement, bringing correction.

  538. There was question. He's almost suppose letters are

  539. dealing with correction false Doctrine.

  540. Hey, somebody is starting to say that Jesus wasn't really

  541. resurrected bodily. He's like resurrected

  542. spiritually, like he's resurrected but not really.

  543. So, Paul's bringing some correction and some rot

  544. reminders here. Now, I would remind you Brothers

  545. 15:1 the First Corinthians I would remind you Brothers of the

  546. Gospel, I preached to you, which you received in which you stand

  547. and by which, you are being saved, if you hold fast to the

  548. true word, which I preached to you, unless you believed in

  549. vain, for I delivered to you, as of first importance, what I also

  550. received that Jesus died for our sins in accordance with the

  551. scriptures that he was buried and that he was raised on the

  552. third day in accordance with the scriptures and that he appeared

  553. to cephas as Peter. And then the 12 and then he

  554. appeared to more than 500 Brothers.

  555. At one time, most of whom are still alive, though.

  556. Some have fallen asleep. He means died physically.

  557. Then he appeared to James. Then to all the apostles last of

  558. all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.

  559. So remember Paul had been murdering.

  560. He had been killing, he had been persecuting, and he's saying,

  561. and Jesus in his Mercy. In his Sovereign will kicks.

  562. Me all knocks me off of my high horse and saves me as well.

  563. For I am the least of the Apostles, unworthy to be called

  564. an apostle because I persecuted the Church of God, but by the

  565. grace of God, I am what I am. And his grace toward me, was not

  566. in vain, on the contrary. I've worked harder than any of

  567. them though. It was not.

  568. I but by the grace of God, that is with me, whether then it was

  569. I or they. So we preach.

  570. And so ye believed His point is, I've preached the resurrection

  571. to you. And remember all the others have

  572. seen the Lord. He says, I've seen the Lord to

  573. he came to me, I was eagerly persecuting and harassing the

  574. church and now I'm eagerly. Going to go give my head to Nero

  575. in the name of Jesus, then nobody will shut me up either.

  576. Do you think the disciples would die for a lie?

  577. Plenty of people die because they're deceived.

  578. There are plenty of Muslims who have killed themselves because

  579. they think they're going to receive Of a greater

  580. Resurrection, a greater life on the other side.

  581. That's deception. That's different.

  582. The disciples weren't deceived and they weren't confused.

  583. They didn't turn the world upside down, they didn't go give

  584. their lives unto the death because of a lie.

  585. Hey guys. Best prank ever.

  586. I have an idea gather around if you'll see the Babylon, be did a

  587. piece. They did a sketch on that, it

  588. was the disciples after the resurrection like okay no, he's

  589. dead, but check this out. I got an idea.

  590. Okay, okay and I forget which disciple buddy, sharing the

  591. whole story, like we're going to go around the world and then

  592. we're going to die a gruesome deaths while preaching this this

  593. fake story and the other side was like, why?

  594. Like it's going to be awesome. Just trust me, but that's what

  595. they did. They went around preaching.

  596. Teaching the truth, they die a gruesome deaths and they said, I

  597. can't shut up, I won't shut up. He's worthy, Peter, Peter, the

  598. one who was cowardly and denied the Lord, he eventually, when

  599. they were going to crucify him, they said we're going to

  600. crucify. You just like your lord was

  601. crucified. Then he says, I'm not worthy to

  602. be crucified like the Lord. Jesus crucify me upside down.

  603. Ooh, that's a rough day man. It was already going to be bad

  604. but Peters like hey guys I tell you what could you crucify me

  605. upside down. So I'm not worthy.

  606. Be crucified like the Lord. Jesus was Was he doing it for a

  607. while? I know he was doing it because

  608. he had seen the Lord, because Jesus Christ is alive.

  609. Lord, and Master of all Where were we?

  610. I got to preach in. Okay, 15:12 now Now if Christ is

  611. proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say

  612. that there is no resurrection of the dead but if there is no

  613. resurrection of the dead then not even Christ has been raised.

  614. So there was also the false teaching that we're not going to

  615. be raised from the dead that when we die were in Abraham's

  616. bosom at best but there's not going to be an ultimate

  617. Resurrection for us. So he's bringing that correction

  618. he said hang on, hang on if we're not resurrected then

  619. Christ wasn't resurrected but he was the first to be resurrected

  620. verse 14 and if Christ has not been raised And then, our

  621. preaching is in vain, and your faith is in vain.

  622. We are even found to be misrepresenting God because we

  623. testified about God, that he raised Christ whom he did not

  624. raise. If it is true that we that the

  625. dead are not raised for, if the dead cannot be raised, not even

  626. Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been

  627. raised, your faith is futile and you're still in your sins.

  628. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.

  629. If in Christ, we have hope in this life only we have all

  630. people. We are of all people most to be

  631. pitied. He's saying if we only have hope

  632. in Christ, while we're alive on the planet, why our body is

  633. alive? We're pitiful, we deserve we

  634. deserve, pity and mercy from people not mocking and Scorn,

  635. we're helpless and hopeless. But if in fact, Christ has been

  636. raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have

  637. fallen asleep for as for sorry, let me read this again, but in

  638. fact, Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits

  639. of those who have fallen asleep. So he is the first to be raised

  640. from the dead and Resurrection, he resuscitated people.

  641. He resurrected Lazarus only for Lazarus to die again.

  642. He resurrected a little boys, little girls.

  643. Other people who had died only for them to die again.

  644. For them to live out their natural life but Jesus is

  645. resurrected with a resurrected body for as by 14.

  646. By One Man Came Death. So by one man came the

  647. resurrection from the dead so Adam got us into this mess.

  648. Jesus gets us all the way out for as in Adam all die.

  649. So also in Christ, oh shall be made alive.

  650. The resurrection of Jesus turns scatter disciples into faithful

  651. apostles who joyfully died. For the name of Jesus.

  652. The resurrection of Jesus turns dead men alive.

  653. The resurrection of Jesus feels cowards with Courage.

  654. The resurrection of Jesus makes Sinners into Saints.

  655. The resurrection of Jesus makes selfish people generous The

  656. resurrection of Jesus sins, his people into the Harvest When You

  657. Believe in the resurrection of Jesus was so practical about

  658. this, it's everything without the resurrection Friday doesn't

  659. even matter. Well, he was beaten.

  660. He suffered. Yeah, but to the Lord accept his

  661. suffering is he actually King, is he actually Lord of Heaven

  662. and Earth? Does he have the power of death?

  663. Hell and the grave because if he doesn't there's no chance for

  664. you and me but he is alive and he is raining.

  665. Will close with this in Ephesians chapter 1, terms of

    Ephesians 1 chapter mention

  666. the write a few pages. Ephesians 1.

  667. This is the prayer that Paul was writing to the Ephesians, he

  668. saying, this is what I'm praying for you.

  669. Verse 15 for this reason. Because I have heard of your

  670. faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints.

  671. I do not cease to give, thanks for you.

  672. Remembering you in my prayers, that the god of our Lord Jesus

  673. Christ. The father of Glory, may give

  674. you the spirit of wisdom and Revelation in the knowledge of

  675. him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened.

  676. So that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you

  677. and what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the

  678. Saints. And what is the immeasurable

  679. greatness of his power toward us who believe according to the

  680. working of his great might that he worked in Christ.

  681. When he raised him from the dead and seated him at his own right

  682. hand in the Heavenly places, far above all, Rule and authority

  683. and power and Dominion above every name.

  684. That is named not only in this age but also in the one to come

  685. and he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over

  686. all things to Church, which is his body, the fullness of him

  687. who fills all in, all Jesus is Alive.

  688. Paul knew it, the disciples knew it, they believed it and we

  689. believe it. That's why we say what we

  690. believe. If you want a new life, Jesus

  691. tells you how to get it. Take up your cross.

  692. Follow me in death and I will make you new.

  693. I will bring you through Resurrection.

  694. Jesus said, I am the resurrection and the life,

  695. whoever, come whoever believes in, In me, though.

  696. He die. Yet shall he?

  697. Live and everyone who lives and Believes In Me, shall never die.

  698. And then he asked the question, do you believe this?

  699. So I'll churchy believe this stand to your feet.

  700. If you have a copy of the Creed, we're going to read it together.

  701. If you know it, that's great. If you don't have one, I'm

  702. sorry. I didn't bring enough today so

  703. I'll do better next week. Here we go together.

  704. I believe in God, the Father Almighty creator of Heaven and

  705. Earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his

  706. only son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and

  707. born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate

  708. was crucified died and was buried.

  709. He descended to Hell. The third day.

  710. He rose again from the dead. He descended.

  711. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God,

  712. the Father Almighty. From there, he will come to

  713. judge the living and the dead, I believe in the Holy Spirit, the

  714. Holy Catholic Church. The communion of saints, the

  715. Forgiveness of sins. The resurrection of the body and

  716. the life Everlasting almond.
