  1. Matthew chapter 28. Were still in the Apostles

    Matthew 28 chapter mention

  2. Creed. And in particular today, we're

  3. looking at he ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand

  4. of God the Father Almighty. So, last week, he descended.

  5. So we looked at. He descended to Hell.

  6. The third day. He rose again from the dead and

  7. then he ascended to Heaven. Of course.

  8. He didn't Ascend to heaven, right away.

  9. He stayed on Earth for 40 days, appearing to over 500 people.

  10. During that time period, David and then he ascended in front of

  11. their eyes. They watched him Ascend up into

  12. heaven. We've talked a lot about the

  13. need for the Apostles Creed and why it's been such a valuable

  14. resource to the body of Christ for thousands of years now, and

  15. part of that we said is because it brings Clarity to the most

  16. essential doctrines instead of. Well, what do you want to tell

  17. somebody about God? Well, he loves you and he has a

  18. wonderful plan for your life. Well, those are true statements,

  19. and yet, there's more to it. That should be communicated.

  20. Even at a fundamental level and the Apostles Creed helps us to

  21. say, what matters, most what does a Christian need to

  22. believe? What is it?

  23. What do all Christians need to have Harmony and unity around in

  24. the Apostles? Creed says, these are essential.

  25. There's lots of Freedom Beyond these, but you can't but you

  26. can't remove any of these. We have boiled it down in the

  27. Apostles Creed to say, this is the essential essence.

  28. You can't remove anything from this and still have

  29. Christianity. So we've got Clarity and the

  30. purpose of this was because there was so much false doctrine

  31. that there Early church leaders were saying, you know what?

  32. There's a lot of misinformation. There's a lot about teaching.

  33. Let's put, let's put something together that can serve the

  34. church. They can educate new Believers,

  35. and disciple them and say, hey, I follow Jesus.

  36. Oh, did you know, are you filled with the Holy Spirit?

  37. We didn't even know there was a holy spirit, so there's all

  38. kinds of things that the, the early church fathers, I was

  39. combining the book of Acts of the Apostles Creed.

  40. They're not connected. The Creed comes hundreds of

  41. years after the apostles, but the point is not that the

  42. apostles wrote the Creed. The point is that the Screed is

  43. called the Apostles Creed because it confirms the teaching

  44. of the Apostles. It confirms what the apostles

  45. taught. But one of the big big needs of

  46. the Creed was to correct. False doctrines decide to say

  47. yes to one thing is to say no to something else to say, yes, to

  48. your spouse is to say no to billions of other people.

  49. Like, I choose you. That means, I say, no.

  50. You're so, you're rejecting all of us.

  51. Well, yeah, like that's the thing.

  52. That's what makes this thing special is because I rejected

  53. everything else. So, to say yes to these truths

  54. of the doctrine in the Apostles Creed is to say no to all other

  55. kinds of nonsense, I saw in. I don't know if you caught the

  56. news anymore. I saw online this week, that

  57. there was some heretical church with some heretical Minister who

  58. led their congregation in reciting, what they called the

  59. sparkle Creed and it was it was an Abomination.

  60. And and I won't I thought I was like, maybe I should show it to

  61. him is like, no, we're not going.

  62. Desecrate, the Lord's service with that kind of nonsense, but

  63. it was, it was just completely false Doctrine.

  64. It was, it was gross. It was the promotion of

  65. homosexuality, and in the glorification of it and false

  66. Doctrine about Christ and so on. But they but they had taken the

  67. framework of the Apostles Creed, and they had swapped it out and

  68. they said, I believe in, and then it and then the apostasy

  69. gets really bad. So, why do we have the Apostles

  70. Creed again, to say what is true?

  71. I believe that most Christians could have heard what they

  72. called the sparkle Creed and said that ain't right.

  73. But can those same Christians, also say, what is can those same

  74. Christians? Also say, well, I know that's

  75. wrong and no, that's wrong. I know, that's what, but can you

  76. say, what is good? Can you say what is true?

  77. Can you say? What is beautiful?

  78. Can you say, what's accurate? Well, the Apostles Creed gives

  79. us a place where we can joyfully declare what we believe because

  80. it's what is true and that's how the Creed starts.

  81. I believe I believe we talked about how believing in something

  82. will change the way that you live.

  83. It's different from just knowing something.

  84. I know I ought to eat better. Are you going to do it?

  85. Nah, but I know I order you know, I know a lot of things

  86. that don't change the silly way I live.

  87. Do you believe in something though?

  88. We've said changes the way that you live.

  89. I believe that then it'll show up there will be fruit they'll

  90. be evidence that will be proof of it.

  91. So let's start by reading the Apostles Creed together, stand

  92. to your feet, one more time. As we not just recite the Creed,

  93. but we declare we're declaring together.

  94. Here we go. I believe in God, the Father

  95. Almighty creator of Heaven and Earth.

  96. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son our Lord who was

  97. conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.

  98. He suffered under Pontius Pilate was crucified died and was

  99. buried. He descended to Hell the third

  100. day. He rose again from the dead.

  101. He ascended to heaven and seated at the right hand of God, the

  102. Father Almighty from there. He will come to judge the living

  103. and the dead, I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic

  104. Church. The communion of saints, the

  105. Forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the

  106. life Everlasting, amen. You may be seated.

  107. We join with the Saints throughout history.

  108. As we say, those things is what Saints have said and all

  109. languages and all time periods. To say this is what's true.

  110. We're joyfully saying it, why? Because we're not ashamed of the

  111. Gospel. It is the power of God unto

  112. salvation, for those who believe.

  113. So we've also said that the Creed is useful for you to even

  114. be able to minister the gospel you go.

  115. I don't know what to say to people.

  116. If you know the Apostles Creed, you've got a great framework,

  117. you've got a clear understanding, I mean, think

  118. about this, if You have this in your mind, you can teach

  119. somebody that there who is god. Well there's God the Father

  120. Almighty, he's the creator of Heaven and Earth.

  121. That's simple. That's foundational.

  122. But that's important just like Hudson shared his testimony a

  123. few weeks back on the playground.

  124. He heard some kids. Playing the Holy Spirit, led

  125. him, and he went over there and say, hey God is our creator.

  126. Did you know this? He starts to share the gospel

  127. with them and he actually used the framework of the Apostles

  128. Creed. What else do we believe?

  129. As you minister to somebody? You can tell them.

  130. Jesus Christ is God's only son. He's our Lord.

  131. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit.

  132. He was born of a virgin and we've talked about why all these

  133. things matter. God didn't make, Jesus, born of

  134. a virgin, just to say poof, look what I can do, I can do

  135. anything. Of course, he can do anything,

  136. but Jesus had to be born of a virgin and we explain why in

  137. that sermon. He suffered under Pontius

  138. Pilate. He was crucified died and was

  139. buried. Why for our sins, the punishment

  140. that brought us peace was upon him.

  141. The chastisement that brought us.

  142. Peace was upon him and it pleased, the father to punish

  143. and Crush cry. Just so that we could be set

  144. free. He descended to hell, we

  145. clarified and explained that he didn't suffer in Flames but the

  146. word hell represented the place of the dead.

  147. He was with that Thief that day, in paradise, he was in the place

  148. also known as Abraham's bosom, where Abraham and all the Old

  149. Testament Saints would have been, and he opens up the way to

  150. heaven, the third day. He rose again from the dead.

  151. He ascended into heaven. What are you doing?

  152. You're sharing with somebody, you're you're telling them the

  153. story. The the truth of God, it is

  154. historical. It's not just, you need to feel

  155. certain feelings. You need to think, certain

  156. thoughts like, hey, no, no, you your belief.

  157. Yes, it's by faith but it's also anchored in logic.

  158. This happened. This literally happened across

  159. that water and Israel in Jerusalem.

  160. Like it happened. There's like a hill that Jesus

  161. died on. There's a tomb where the stone

  162. that rock is still on the earth. I don't know which one and I'm

  163. sure they'll tell you, they know which one because they want

  164. those tourists to come. And look at the correct Rock.

  165. But regardless it's all, it's all there.

  166. It's all happened, and Jesus really ascended, his feet left,

  167. the mountain, and he ascended into heaven.

  168. He was there and this happened. This is the will of God.

  169. So you're able to share with somebody all these things are

  170. historically accurate. All these things took place and

  171. now he's seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.

  172. What's next? That person that you're

  173. discipling. May be wondering from there,

  174. he's coming to judge. He's coming back, he will judge

  175. the living and the dead. Oh, by the way, there's also the

  176. holy spirit. So there's one God In three.

  177. Look at the Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty next

  178. section. I believe in Jesus Christ, his

  179. only son our Lord final section. I believe in the Holy Spirit, we

  180. see the Trinity represented here, I believe in the Holy

  181. Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, not the denomination as

  182. you and I would think of it. But it just means the universal

  183. Body of Christ is what we put that a strict there.

  184. The Holy Catholic Church. The communion of saints, the

  185. Forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body.

  186. We're also going to be Resurrected.

  187. And the life Everlasting. This is a useful tool, a

  188. powerful tool for you to be able to communicate what to be able

  189. to communicate the word of God. That's all we're after

  190. communicating the word of God, and the Apostles Creed gives us

  191. a framework to be able to do that.

  192. Today, we're in Matthew chapter. 28.

  193. Once again, you're there and I'm not Matthew chapter 28, is we

    Matthew 28 chapter mention

  194. look at how he ascended into heaven and is seated at the

  195. right hand of God, the Father Almighty.

  196. Matthew 28 verse 16. Now, the eleven disciples went

    Matthew 28:16

  197. to Galilee to the mountain to, which Jesus had directed them,

  198. and when they saw him, they worshiped him, but some doubted.

  199. And Jesus came and said to them, all authority in heaven and on

  200. Earth, has been given to me go, therefore, and Make Disciples of

  201. all Nations, baptizing them in the name of the father, and of

  202. the son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all

  203. that. I have commanded you and behold.

  204. I Am With You Always to the End of the Age.

  205. God, we thank you for your word, for your promise, and for your

  206. power. Bring us Revelation.

  207. Bring us hope and fill us with faith.

  208. You make it all to grow and we thank you for maturing Us in

  209. Jesus name. Amen.

  210. Here we have Jesus last words before he ascends, we know this,

  211. right? We know this intuitively.

  212. Your last words are your most important words whenever you

  213. especially when you get to choose them deliberately, like,

  214. I'm dying everyone. Here's what I have to say.

  215. That's the important thing. It's the thing that I maybe I

  216. was always too afraid to say, it's the thing that I regret,

  217. but that you're about to get my best, you might be impressed,

  218. you might not, but you're still gonna get My best.

  219. My best effort. Well Jesus of course he's not

  220. dying. He died.

  221. He was raised and now he's been alive for 40 days and since then

  222. he's been alive for 2,000 years and he'll be Alive forevermore

  223. but he's sharing with them. His last words.

  224. So we pay attention, we think about his last words and we go,

  225. this is significant, this is the thing, he's leaving them with.

  226. He could say anything in this moment, but what does he say?

  227. What does he emphasized? Well, he says all authority has

  228. been given unto me. All authority in heaven on

  229. Earth. What's he pointing out?

  230. I am the king. I am.

  231. The king all authority in heaven has been given to me and some

  232. Authority on Earth. Is that the way he put it?

  233. No, it's not all authority everywhere belongs to Jesus.

  234. Well, I don't think so. And so sees it that way, all

  235. authority, everywhere belongs to Jesus.

  236. Jesus is King. Jesus is in charge.

  237. Everyone should constantly be submitting to Jesus.

  238. So, he's, he's waiting himself, and he's showing his disciples.

  239. Hey, all authority in Heaven and Earth belongs to me.

  240. Okay, therefore, go I command you, I'm the king.

  241. I'm the one who's accomplished everything, I deserve all the

  242. Glory and now, I'm giving you a command understand who I am

  243. before. I say what I'm about to say,

  244. don't receive this from a friend.

  245. Don't receive this as a suggestion.

  246. Don't think I'm saying. Hey guys, what do you think

  247. about this? Isn't a democracy.

  248. I'm the king. And when the king speaks

  249. everybody obeys, so I need to clarify and remind you.

  250. I'm the king and because I'm the king.

  251. Now, here's what I expect you to do all authority in Heaven and

  252. Earth belongs to me, go and make disciples of all Nations.

  253. Baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son, and

  254. of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that.

  255. I have commanded you and behold. I Am With You Always even unto

  256. the end of the age. So what does Jesus not say?

  257. He doesn't say some Authority in heaven and on Earth has been

  258. given to me, therefore, you know, mind your own business and

  259. just do your own thing because because your faith is a personal

  260. thing. You know, faith is deeply.

  261. Personal also known as like secretive.

  262. So, don't bother anybody with it.

  263. You can't teach anybody to obey. You can't baptize the nation's.

  264. Like you can't you can't like force Christianity on the world

  265. because like they might not like that very much but instead Jesus

  266. says go teach everybody to what? To do what I've commanded.

  267. Teach everybody to obey. What are you some kind of

  268. Christian nationalist? Let me clarify something for

  269. you. I'm a Christian everything.

  270. So if you can put Christian on it, I'm all about it.

  271. So I'm not a Christian nationalist.

  272. I'm a Christian Universalist because the one who Reigns over

  273. the universe is Christ. So, am I Christian nationalist?

  274. I guess that's supposed to be an insult, by the way, to

  275. Christians nowadays, But so was the name Christian when it was

  276. first formed. It was used as an insult to mock

  277. the church to call them. Oh, look at those little

  278. Christ's, that was how they wanted to insult them.

  279. And now, the newest message to get Christians to shut up about

  280. advancing, the gospel of the kingdom in the, in the, in the

  281. nation that you live in because we're not supposed to America,

  282. we're not supposed to christianize America.

  283. Apparently, we're only supposed to christianize like third world

  284. Nations. But if you try and christianize

  285. America, they're trying to demonize that with, are you some

  286. kind of Christian nationalist? I'm a When everything, let all

  287. the internet here on the podcast and everywhere else, I hope that

  288. Jesus would find me is faithful as the world Finds Me guilty.

  289. But the point is, we're joyfully telling everybody Jesus is King.

  290. Jesus is Lord. This is good news to you world,

  291. this is good news, I haven't given you one ounce of bad news.

  292. Jesus is a good King. He Loves You.

  293. Jesus isn't the king who killed his enemies.

  294. Jesus is the one who died for his enemies.

  295. So now bow, the knee, kiss the Sun and glorify his name because

  296. he's worthy because he loves you.

  297. What does Jesus want his church to do?

  298. He wants us to invade the world with the good news of the

  299. Gospel, the world is broken. The world has lost the world is

  300. hurting, so he says go into the world.

  301. But that when he said this and other gospels, bring this out as

  302. well in the gospel of Mark, when he says, go into all the world,

  303. he's not just talking about every country, he's not just

  304. talking geographically. Talking about every system.

  305. Every single system is where God wants his kingdom Advance, which

  306. is why Jesus taught us to pray, because Jesus is, my kingdom is

  307. not of this world, right? But he wants it to be, which is

  308. why he says in, that's it, which is why we pray, your will be

  309. done. Your kingdom.

  310. Come your will be done. Where on Earth?

  311. No. No guys.

  312. What are you doing? What are you?

  313. Christian nationalist. Calm down.

  314. Christian, globalist like everywhere.

  315. Mars needs to be Christian you know, like every Brock was to be

  316. the first man on Mars. So he's going to take communion.

  317. He's going to plan a Christian flag.

  318. Maybe like you didn't put the American fight like, no, I snuck

  319. another one up here, Mars belongs to Jesus, too.

  320. Everything is his. He invented it.

  321. He made it, he holds it together.

  322. He is preeminent. We said over everything and

  323. everybody, so he wants us to invade every system.

  324. Political, educational entertainment, the workplace,

  325. all the world with. What?

  326. What are you guys trying to get in here?

  327. Well, you guessed it. We do have a plot.

  328. It's it involves love joy. Peace, patience, kindness

  329. goodness, faithfulness gentleness and self-control you

  330. caught us. Are we under arrest?

  331. Well, yes, actually, it's some point.

  332. It's likely even for those of us in the west, that's okay.

  333. Because we know that this world is broken and upside down and

  334. the Lord's kingdom is right side up.

  335. So we're still going to come and bring the good news of the

  336. Gospel. No matter how much we hated

  337. were. The students are not above the

  338. teacher, right? If he was hated, what it, what

  339. should we expect, he was better than us, right?

  340. We have not fully become like the master.

  341. And if the master suffered We will as well.

  342. But look at the promise that he makes this is the great comfort.

  343. It gives to us that I find kind of funny.

  344. It's kind of funny last words, right before you fly up into the

  345. air. I'm with you always to the End

  346. of the Age. Goodbye.

  347. Wait, which is it? I'm with you always.

  348. And as he leaves like Jesus, we want you to stay.

  349. We don't want you to go. I'm with you.

  350. What do you mean by this? But he leaves, but he doesn't

  351. leave. That's the point.

  352. He doesn't leave. He actually fills the hearts of

  353. his people. He hasn't left them.

  354. He hasn't left his church. He hasn't left you.

  355. He does this through the power of the Holy Spirit and Jesus

  356. feels everything in every way. What's the point here?

  357. What are you getting at? I thought were supposed to talk

  358. about the Ascension of Jesus ascending into heaven.

  359. My point. Is this the Ascension of Jesus

  360. was not abandonment. It was empowerment.

  361. The whole point was for the church to disciple.

  362. The nation's, the whole point of Jesus ascending, he says, it's

  363. good for me to leave because if I leave them, there's going to

  364. be another who comes, who's just like me.

  365. And I'm going to send you out the training session has ended

  366. and the disciples are released. And now the disciples are to

  367. make disciples who make disciples and from those 11, we

  368. all sit here today. They turned the world upside

  369. down, and from those 11. It's a pretty cool thought to

  370. think that the Lord could you? And I couldn't at this point,

  371. but you could trace your Christianity back to one of

  372. those eleven Apostles of the Lamb.

  373. Somebody LED somebody to the Lord who led somebody to the

  374. Lord, who eventually came all the way down to you eventually.

  375. We'll get to see that spiritual tree of life.

  376. I came through Thomas, you know, that's crazy, that's so cool

  377. because him to him, to him, to him, to him, to her, to her, to

  378. her, to them. It's a beautiful thing to be a

  379. part of the family of God. But the Ascension is not Jesus

  380. as abandonment of the church. The Ascension is Jesus is

  381. empowerment to the church to say, I've got you and you've got

  382. this, I'm entrusting my mission to my church.

  383. Jesus is building his church, he hasn't left us alone, but Jesus

  384. sat down. You sit down when the job is

  385. done. When you've accomplished your

  386. work. He says, I've accomplished my

  387. work and now I have have empowered my church to go out

  388. and make disciples to glorify my name.

  389. Turn to Acts chapter 1. It's wild that he isn't trusted

    Acts 1 chapter mention

  390. so much to us. It's wild to me that he and that

  391. he's entrusted all of this to go.

  392. Y'all got the sounds like you would think that my thought is

  393. you would think he would want to still be here and to which he

  394. would reply, I am I am. That's the thing that you don't

  395. get. Whenever I have that train of

  396. thought it and I'm reminded but I am, I am the holy spirit's

  397. going? Excuse me.

  398. I am I am here. I am present.

  399. I'm present in my people and through my people to empower my

  400. people to make everybody my people.

  401. Acts chapter 1. So you know who wrote Matthew,

    Acts 1 chapter mention

  402. you know who wrote Mark and you know who wrote Luke and you know

  403. who wrote John, do you know who wrote Acts?

  404. Now his name was Act. Was a guy named act actually

  405. very good, Brock? Yes, it was Luke.

  406. So he's writing to his friend Theophilus and he's sharing the

  407. gospel with him. He says in my first book oh

  408. Theophilus I have dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach

  409. until the day when he was taken up after he had given commands

  410. through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen, he

  411. presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many

  412. proofs appearing to them, forty days and speaking about the

  413. kingdom of God, and while staying with them, he ordered

  414. them not to depart from Jerusalem.

  415. Mmm, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which he said you

  416. heard from me for, John baptized with water, but you will be

  417. baptized with the Holy Spirit, not many days from now.

  418. So when they had come together they asked him Lord.

  419. Will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?

  420. Again, they're still thinking about power.

  421. We want that political power. We want the Messiah to just

  422. crush the Romans and we can rule as Israelites again.

  423. He said to them, it's not for you to know the times or the

  424. seasons that the father has fixed by his own authority, but

  425. you guys want Power. You will receive power.

  426. When the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you will be my

  427. Witnesses in Jerusalem and in Judea and in Samaria to the ends

  428. of the Earth. And when he had said these

  429. things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up and a cloud,

  430. took him out of their sight. When it says he was lifted up,

  431. literally he leaves the ground, the ground he had been standing

  432. on with human feet. The he had been eating, he had

  433. been drinking with them. He is lifted up and a cloud

  434. comes and takes him out of their sight.

  435. And while they were gazing into heaven, as he went behold, two

  436. men stood by them in white. Robes to angels and said men of

  437. Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven?

  438. I like the questions that the Angels asked people.

  439. They like, why are you looking for the living?

  440. Among the dead? They're like so sarcastic about

  441. everything. Like hey guys it's going to be

  442. just like he said, you know. Hey why are you guys staring up

  443. in the sky? Why do you stand looking into

  444. heaven? This Jesus, who is taken up from

  445. you into heaven, will come and the same way as you saw.

  446. Him. Go into heaven, praise God.

  447. What do we see going on here? Lots of things.

  448. Everybody wants power. We want power, and we need power

  449. and God doesn't say how dare you.

  450. That's not his response. He says, I will give you power

  451. power to what power to be my Witnesses power to be my

  452. ambassadors power to be my representatives in the Earth.

  453. This is why. We need the Holy Spirit.

  454. I look forward to preaching on the holy spirit in a couple

  455. weeks, but everybody wants Power and Jesus promises power power

  456. to be an ambassador for his kingdom.

  457. And that's how he started his ministry with them.

  458. Three years earlier. Remember, he hasn't changed

  459. anything from the very first moment of his invitation to the

  460. very back and look at the bookends of his of his

  461. invitation, and then his command come follow me, why?

  462. I'll make you Fishers of Men. I'm leaving Go Make Disciples of

  463. the nation's, he wasn't inconsistent.

  464. There's a lot that happened in the middle, all relevant, ol

  465. important, but all connected to the two.

  466. Bookends here, there was no bait and switch.

  467. There was, no, I've got a great plan, follow me and six years

  468. down the road or be like, hey, have you thought about sharing

  469. your faith? That was never his angle.

  470. That was never his approach. Its come follow me.

  471. We're going to disciple the whole world to obey me.

  472. Hey, disciple, the whole world to obey me.

  473. I'm singing the Holy Spirit. I'll fill you with power, you

  474. who are cowards, and who deny me right now, who scatter?

  475. When I'm arrested. I'm going to fill you with

  476. power. You'll be different people.

  477. You'll be different men. It won't be you.

  478. I'll send the Holy Spirit, he's just like me.

  479. He's going to glorify me. He's going to glorify the father

  480. and you'll have power not power to glorify yourself or your own

  481. name, but there will be a supernatural power.

  482. A boldness, a Clarity, a wisdom tooth.

  483. Actually carry out my mission. That's how he started.

  484. And that's how he finishes I'll make you Fishers of Men.

  485. Now go and John 14, you don't have to turn there.

  486. Verses 12 through 14 is where he talks about anybody who follows

  487. and obeys me. It's going to actually do

  488. Greater Works than I do. Why?

  489. Because I go to the father, I go to the father, so those who

  490. follow me and obey me or now going to do Greater Works than

  491. I've done. There's a lot that's been said

  492. and lots of has been debated about what these Greater Works.

  493. Are you look at the context? I don't think it's too hard to

  494. figure out that Expects his church to do, the massive works

  495. that he did to do the supernatural works that he did.

  496. I have to work hard to get out of those conclusions and I

  497. choose not to because I want to take the text as I understand

  498. it, simply. And honestly, but Jesus saying,

  499. it's because I go to the father that the church is going to do

  500. these Greater Works again. The Ascension is not

  501. abandonment, the Ascension is Empowerment Church, you're

  502. empowered. You are overqualified to make

  503. disciples. The holy spirit is with you.

  504. And to be filled with the Holy Spirit is the ideal.

  505. Feel that God calls it for obedience to in the book of Acts

  506. as they continue because he says don't go anywhere until you've

  507. received power. Don't go anywhere until you've

  508. received the power that comes from on high.

  509. These men are born again at this point.

  510. Is multiple multiple places where it's likely that, that it

  511. already would have happened. I think my suspicion is this,

  512. when Jesus breathed on them, he breathed on them and said

  513. receive the Holy Spirit, but now he leaves.

  514. And now ten days go by You mean to tell me that the 10 days go

  515. by and these people aren't these, people aren't born again,

  516. they have experienced the new creation.

  517. I don't think what happens on the day of Pentecost.

  518. Pentecost is a new creation. I think it's very obvious.

  519. It's a second and separate event from salvation and we see that

  520. throughout the Book of Acts. Hey, you guys, are you guys felt

  521. the Holy Spirit? We didn't know there was a holy

  522. spirit, but we love and follow Jesus.

  523. Okay. Well then, let's also see that

  524. you're filled with the Holy Spirit, why?

  525. Because you need the power that comes from on high.

  526. It's good that I go to the father because I will fill you

  527. with the power that comes from on high.

  528. What else do we see going on here in acts as there staring up

  529. into the sky? We see that we're not supposed

  530. to just be staring up into the sky, we're supposed to be

  531. working in the field. Why are you staring up in the

  532. sky? Get to work.

  533. You heard the king, didn't you? The work is right here in front

  534. of you down here in the fields. This is where the work is.

  535. We're not supposed to just stare at the sky, we look forward to

  536. his return but we should not be distracted by it.

  537. We look forward to his return but we should not be distracted

  538. by it. There have been churches.

  539. There have been whole Ministries that said we have.

  540. Got like, we wrote a book on like, these are the 97 reasons

  541. we know that Jesus is God or 88 reasons, we know Jesus is coming

  542. back in 1988. That was a real thing. in case

  543. you're worried, he didn't come back in 1988 but Did they?

  544. They really did. Okay.

  545. And did they write a new one after that 419?

  546. Wow, yeah. So these are very likely our

  547. brothers and sisters who love the Lord, but staring at the

  548. sky, and instead of the work there, there are others who

  549. pulled all their money together and and their resources and work

  550. themselves to broke because they had predicted the day that he

  551. would return. They knew for sure.

  552. He's coming back on this day. So, we don't need any money past

  553. that day. And then a day came, can you

  554. imagine the discouragement and despair?

  555. That's sad, that's heartbreaking.

  556. Yeah, the world laughs at the mocks them but I'm sure there

  557. are brothers and sisters. So we love them and have

  558. compassion for them. And yet be about the business,

  559. be about the work, this is the work.

  560. Let's let's disciple the nation's when they're not going

  561. to do nothing. They're not.

  562. If we don't tell them, they're not if we don't teach them to

  563. obey, they need us to be the salt.

  564. They need us to be the light, it's dark, it's flavorless, it's

  565. bland in its rotting. So the salt and the light or the

  566. Gift that we can give. It's the way that we can walk in

  567. obedience Jesus said no one knows the day or the hour of the

  568. Masters return. No one knows the day or the

  569. hour, the Master has returned. And he tells a parable about a

  570. servant who behaves poorly because the master is gone.

  571. And then the master comes back and he says well, the master bi

  572. please do the master will cut him into pieces.

  573. The point of that, Parable was not, hey, do a better job

  574. looking out for the Masters return so that you can hustle up

  575. at the last minute Bob and I, when we were kids, whenever we

  576. had chores for the day and Mom, and Dad weren't home, we

  577. wouldn't do them all day. But when Mom's car would pull in

  578. the driveway and you'd be amazed at what you can accomplish in,

  579. like 60 seconds, thankfully mom is slow.

  580. So Mom pulls in the driveway and you I mean you might have a

  581. minute and a half. They get why she's like this

  582. person, this drink and these keys and this stuff and you know

  583. this backpack or whatever else you know, whatever else she was

  584. coming in with, but we hear the car TV off.

  585. You know, we had like three channels of course, back then

  586. three 10 and 13. We're like watching Ricky Lake

  587. after school. You know, anybody remember,

  588. these just trashy afternoon talk shows but you can get a lot

  589. done. In 45 60 seconds to make it look

  590. like, you've done something at least, and Mom's probably come

  591. in and not pay attention, or maybe she saw right through it.

  592. I don't know, we didn't get beat for it.

  593. We got beat for everything else, but not for that, just every

  594. day, all we did was get beatings.

  595. But Jesus is point is not hey learn to do a better job looking

  596. for the master so you can hustle up at the last minute.

  597. No, he's coming back now. Get to work.

  598. Are the nation's disciple? No.

  599. All right. Then we've got something to do.

  600. Does your neighbor know the Lord to your friends and family know

  601. the Lord. Are you praying for that person

  602. of Peace. Have you started that Bible

  603. study in your living room? Yeah but I really think the

  604. Lord's coming back if you really believed if you really believed

  605. then you'd be working in the field because you would want him

  606. to find baskets and baskets and baskets of heart.

  607. Just to go, look, look, we the Harvest is ready.

  608. He says, the laborers are few. Let's fill the field with

  609. laborers. We go into the field and harvest

  610. and we say, hey welcomed into the kingdom of God.

  611. God loves you. Here's who you are.

  612. Here's what who the Lord has made you to be all these

  613. important doctrines and also, it's your mission.

  614. It's your duty, it's your responsibility.

  615. And it's your command from King Jesus to make disciples.

  616. I'll help you. But now you are a disciple

  617. maker. You are now overqualified You're

  618. ready and able to make disciples for the glory of God.

  619. Well, don't I need to be a Christian for like 97 years.

  620. First know where did you get that nonsensical idea?

  621. Are you kidding me? No.

  622. You must, you must be an American.

  623. No. Actually we need to get right to

  624. work right away. Should there be any kind of

  625. oversight will sure? There can be Brotherhood and

  626. partnership. That's why you're going to be in

  627. the local church. You love Jesus.

  628. You'll obviously loved his church.

  629. You can't have one without the other so of course we'll do

  630. this. In Fellowship will do this

  631. together, but we will do this. We will do this Christians live.

  632. A lot Christians often times. I think live boring lives

  633. because they're not on the mission of God.

  634. Christians live boring lives because they're just

  635. navel-gazing and they're only looking to the other side.

  636. It's an important part of our faith to look ahead.

  637. It's an important part of our faith to look forward to all

  638. that Jesus has accomplished and all that.

  639. He has promised, but many Christians are bored.

  640. Many Christians are neurotic. Many Christians are anxious.

  641. Many Those are all caught up in themselves because they're not

  642. caring and thinking about the mission of God.

  643. They think that's like Navy SEAL Christianity.

  644. That's like that's you Pastor J. Mm.

  645. No, you're wrong. This is ABC kindergarten

  646. Christianity. It hasn't been taught that way

  647. and I'm sorry, but this is why we're emphasizing it.

  648. This is the DNA of salt Church. Like it's, I refuse to be a part

  649. of a local body where the Saints aren't considering themselves as

  650. disciple makers, but where the Saints just go?

  651. You gotta come here. Bob preach man.

  652. You gotta Here. Bob no, you got to lead them

  653. into the kingdom. You've got to.

  654. Well, can they come here Bob pre-shoot?

  655. Sure of course they're welcome to come here.

  656. Bob breach like that's important and good but most people don't

  657. care about Bob preaching. They don't know.

  658. Bob you love Bob and you care about Bob but they don't know.

  659. He's just some dude he's your preacher, he's probably weird.

  660. He's probably not normally probably the know how real life

  661. works. That's how they think about Bob

  662. so they don't love Bob the way you do.

  663. But they know you and they know your normal right.

  664. You know, they know you're cool. So your living room is an

  665. opportunity. Go.

  666. Hey, you want to come look at the scriptures with me.

  667. Hey, you know what? I want to write you a letter.

  668. That's what Luke did. Write a letter to a friend,

  669. write an email to a friend Jeff. Susie, I've been praying for you

  670. lately. I want to share some things with

  671. you that I've never really made plain, you got multiple

  672. opportunities. You can send it in a snap, you

  673. can tweet it Adam. You can write a letter, you can

  674. put it in the mail. If you want to, you can send an

  675. email, you can send a text message, you can send a voice

  676. memo. Like we're not limited on tools,

  677. on on means here. Are we limited on boldness?

  678. Are we limited on power? Well, the holy spirit is eager

  679. to fill his people. But to be a disciple of Jesus,

  680. is to make disciples of Jesus. So I love my master and I

  681. Rejoice at his voice and I look forward to when he breaks open,

  682. the sky with the shout of an archangel.

  683. But if I love him, I will obey his command to bring in the

  684. Harvest. Jesus ascended.

  685. And he says go for it and the disciples felt that way like

  686. It's on us now. Yeah, that's the point.

  687. It pleases the Lord, it pleases. The Lord just like it did with,

  688. for him with Adam in the garden. It pleased, the Lord to say

  689. Adam, it's yours. I give it to you.

  690. That's what a father. Does it pleases me to give my

  691. son stuff? They go.

  692. How do I do this? How to do that?

  693. Go work on it. Let me see.

  694. And I'm watching, I'm present with them, I'm not abandoning

  695. them, but I'm not saying I'm not giving them every single tiny

  696. instruction, why? Because they're mine and I

  697. already know they're capable. The same way with the Lord.

  698. He doesn't say Adam. Here's how here's where you have

  699. to plant the strawberries because it's your guard, it's

  700. yours. Fill the Earth and subdue it.

  701. Make it yours, make it obey, you, it pleases me to give my

  702. son that opportunity. And Jesus said it.

  703. Pleases me to give authority to my church.

  704. It pleases me to empower and elevate.

  705. My church to say, go go. Should we do it this way?

  706. The Lord will guide us wony. The Holy Spirit Will direct us.

  707. He is our senior partner. He's not abandoning us and

  708. saying, Figure it out. He empowers his church.

  709. He guides his church but that's the point.

  710. He didn't abandon us. He empowered us and said go.

  711. My answer is yes my power is with you.

  712. My presence is with you. I'm with you till the end of the

  713. age. That means always that means

  714. forever. We will never not be together

  715. and we'll close with this. Scripture says any the the Creed

  716. says, and he sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,

  717. go to Hebrews. Chapter 10.

    Hebrews 10 chapter mention

  718. We've been Hebrews a lot. I feel like we've been coming to

  719. Hebrews more than anything else for the past couple months even

  720. Hebrews chapter 10. Verse 11.

    Hebrews 10 chapter mention

  721. Remember, Hebrews has probably a sermon, I think it's my theory.

  722. I think Hebrews was a sermon and every priest stands daily at his

  723. service, talking about the high priest in the temple and the

  724. priests who would work in the temple, all the work.

  725. That's got to be done. All the sacrifice for all of us

  726. in Hebrews 10 11 and every priest stands daily at his

  727. service offering repeatedly, the same sacrifices, which can never

  728. take away sins, talk about exhausting, but when Christ had

  729. offered, For all time, a single sacrifice for sins.

  730. He sat down. At the right hand of God waiting

  731. from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for

  732. his feet. So not only does our King sit

  733. down. All the other priests priests

  734. got to work priest, gotta work. He's got to work.

  735. This priest comes and says, I finished the work.

  736. Nobody else could finish the work.

  737. Why? Because bulls?

  738. And goats their blood, it could never actually take away the

  739. sins of human humans. It was a temporary sacrifice

  740. that the Lord allowed until the Lamb of God would come.

  741. And when he comes, he says, what does he say on the Is, it is

  742. finished and he meant it mission accomplished Jesus did it.

  743. Jesus, Paid It all. He says, now I'm going to sit

  744. down, but not only am I going to sit down.

  745. I'd like to prop my feet up. How shall I prop up my feet?

  746. Oh, on my enemies. So, until his enemies be made

  747. his footstool, why don't want to be his footstool and don't be as

  748. enemy. Well how do I not be as enemy

  749. respond by faith to the grace? That he's so freely.

  750. Given God loves you. He doesn't want anybody to be

  751. his enemies. But there Comes a Day, there

  752. comes a time where we'll get to where he will come to judge the

  753. living and the dead, the spiritually alive and the

  754. spiritually dead, the physically dead and the physically alive,

  755. everyone will be settled and sorted by the king and at that

  756. moment you become footstool or you're a child in the father's

  757. house. We're already secure by our

  758. faith. In the grace of God.

  759. His grace through faith is what saved us?

  760. So, we don't, we don't we're not stacking up our winds.

  761. Jesus stacked up the winds, we receive them.

  762. They're credited it unto us as righteousness because of our

  763. faith, but the old priests, they stood because the work was never

  764. done. Jesus sits down because the work

  765. is finished. And the right hand symbol

  766. symbolizes. Why is he seated at the right

  767. hand of God the Father Almighty, it symbolizes power.

  768. The right hand symbolizes authority, Jesus is not just

  769. alive but he is reigning over his church and because of it we

  770. rejoice and we don't add to it, we add nothing to his kingship,

  771. he's already complete. He's already finished.

  772. Like we said, the Ascension is not abandonment, it is

  773. empowerment. Jesus sits on his throne because

  774. the work was accomplished on the cross and he is now established

  775. his church to carry out his mission.

  776. Last verse Ephesians Ephesians chapter 1.

    Ephesians 1 chapter mention

  777. Verse 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from

  778. the dead and seated him at his own, right hand in Heavenly

  779. places, the father seated Jesus at his right hand in Heavenly

  780. places verse 21, far above all Rule and authority and power and

  781. dominion. And every name that is named not

  782. only in this age but also in the one to come and he put all

  783. things under his feet. And gave him as head over all

  784. things to the church, which is his body.

  785. The fullness of him who fills all in all Jesus is reigning

  786. over his church. He's raining over death.

  787. He reigns over Hill. He reigns over the grave.

  788. This is why you and I should do something about it.

  789. I told you before we started to, seriously, how's the apartment

  790. house? The Apostles Creed?

  791. Is it going to be practical? Or is it just going to be like,

  792. I now know more stuff? I have better Doctrine.

  793. Well, congratulations. And yes, it's practical to

  794. believe that Jesus ascended to believe that Jesus is seated at

  795. the right hand of God the Father Almighty.

  796. It's not just a knowing. Yeah, I know.

  797. That's a fact. Does your life look like it?

  798. If you really believe Jesus is reigning, if you really believe

  799. Jesus, is at the right hand, then you're going to go do

  800. something with it. This is why you and I should

  801. tell everyone, it's good news. We do that with all kinds of

  802. news, right? When you see stuff in the news,

  803. I did. You see, I did you see where

  804. they? Hey, did you see where Elon Musk

  805. and Mark Zuckerberg? I'm going to fight in the

  806. Octagon. Like that's fun.
