-
Good morning, everyone. Oh, I'm recording John Michaels
-
listening right now. To me, it's always a privilege
-
and honor to speak at Salt Church.
-
You guys are one of my favorite people on planet Earth.
-
For those of you that do not know me, I am Pastor Daniel.
-
I've been a staff pastor at Lighthouse and Gloucester for 20
-
years or so. I'm the executive pastor and
-
man, I just love Jesus, all right, You know, I have, like
-
many of you, put all my chips on the table in front of our King
-
and said, hey, can you arrange my life to bring glory to your
-
name? And so Jesus stands above
-
everything in my life and will always.
-
And, and so I just try to live that way and I just love him so
-
much. So I try to love like Jesus.
-
I try to live like Jesus. I try to lead like Jesus.
-
I want everything to be about our King because he's done so
-
much for me. And so that's where I'm coming
-
from today. So yeah, I've accomplished
-
things in my life, but whatever. I think if you follow Jesus long
-
enough, you will see his glory be revealed in your life and
-
people will be affected in a positive way and, and praise God
-
for that. But I just want to speak from my
-
heart this morning. Thanks again, Natalie and John
-
Michael for inviting me here. I have a couple Sundays a year
-
that I can get away from Lighthouse and I choose Salt
-
Church every time. So and and so I just I feel like
-
I have a word now. I have shared this word a few
-
weeks ago. So.
-
If you heard it then and don't be disappointed because.
-
It is on disappointment if. You are disappointed.
-
That's my my. Teaching and if I could get
-
somebody to hand out some notes. I'm, I learned this from Pastor
-
Ken. We'll have some notes.
-
So if I get off track, there it is.
-
That's what I was supposed to say right there.
-
And if you want to join, turn to Luke chapter 15.
Luke 15 chapter mention
-
My family gives their love to you.
-
They are at home. Jennifer is steadily recovering
-
from from a stroke 8 months ago, so she's doing well.
-
And so the family's at home and that's where they are at.
-
All right, So turn with me to Luke Chapter 14.
Luke 14 chapter mention
-
Maybe it's just for me. Come on somebody, if you don't
-
go to church and feel the love of God, then come on, you got to
-
find it. Find another church.
-
But the spirit of of the Lord is in here today.
-
So. If you could, could just.
-
You, you don't have to stand up, just put your hands out like
-
this in the act of receiving from the Lord.
-
Oh Lord, we come to you today. I just thank you for your
-
unconditional love that cost you everything that you did for us,
-
what we could never do for ourselves.
-
You lived on this fallen world and did not sin, and then you
-
gave up willingly your life upon that cross so that we can have a
-
relationship with you. Father, you didn't Jesus, you
-
didn't state that God raised you from the dead.
-
And Lord, that love, I just pray for that sacrificial love to be
-
shed abroad supernaturally in every heart here today.
-
Lord, that our Sunday would be effective, that our Mondays and
-
Tuesday, may we have moments where we just take a deep breath
-
and realize that you have done for us what we can never do for
-
ourselves. Yes, we are called to work, but
-
we are called to work from faith, not for faith.
-
Your faith, your love is what compels us.
-
Father, I pray for that love to be shit abroad, not to others,
-
but. Individually, as you would.
-
Call each and every one of us by name and say you are my son, I
-
love you, you are my daughter, I love you.
-
I'm well pleased with you. I want to pray for that to
-
permeate every part of these next few minutes that we have
-
together. That your love would be shown,
-
that would be displayed, that would be received, that it would
-
be something that would shift our mindset, the atmosphere.
-
It would change everything. Your love changes everything.
-
God is love and your love never fails.
-
When we choose you, we receive love.
-
When we operate from that love, our actions will never fail.
-
And so Lord, I pray for that confidence, that boldness to
-
abide and live from that love. And I'll give you all the glory.
-
We give you all the glory in Jesus name, Amen.
-
Can you remember a time? Where you had like the best
-
birthday party ever. Think for a second.
-
You did you have one you had did you just recently have like the
-
best? Birthday.
-
Party ever. Not recently, but one of the
-
ones. OK, all right.
-
I remember. My best birthday party was. 1987
-
and that was a long time ago. And you can do the math.
-
But I don't do math anymore, so yeah, I'm past 40 and the.
-
Yeah, so that was a long time ago, but I was. 11 years old and
-
I didn't realize how awesome the birthday party was until I've
-
had a series of. Birthday parties that didn't go
-
according to plan? That makes sense.
-
I mean, sometimes things happen in your life and you're you look
-
back and you're like, I should have enjoyed.
-
That more Anybody there should have enjoyed that moment.
-
Well, it was 1987 and my team the.
-
Redskins Any Redskins fans in? Here, All right.
-
I still call them the Redskins. You can cancel me, but you got
-
to forgive me. Either way.
-
The blood of Jesus forgives me. There's still the Redskins to
-
me. The Redskins went to the Super
-
Bowl, and back then the Super Bowl had a chance to fall on my
-
birthday, January 31st, 19. You can put January 31st on your
-
phone if you want to get me something.
-
January 31st, 1987, the Redskins go to the Super Bowl on my
-
birthday. Praise the Lord, I wasn't even
-
serving him back then, but he was like, I got you.
-
You're coming to me so excited. They're playing the Denver
-
Broncos. All right.
-
Now, the Denver Broncos happen to be my wife's favorite
-
football team, and I didn't know her back then, but I remind her
-
of 1987 all the time. And like you remember that time.
-
All right. So they threw me a big birthday
-
party, had the cake and everything, and you know what?
-
It didn't disappoint because when the game was played. 42 to
-
10. Come on, the Redskins whooped
-
them. Doug Williams.
-
Come on, Art Monk. I mean, you had some great
-
football players, but I. Was like the best come on,
-
somebody the hogs don't, don't, don't let, don't take me down
-
that rabbit hole. That's the story that's not
-
there. But that was the best birthday
-
party I ever had. Have you ever had a party that
-
you planned that didn't go according to plan?
-
Like that one was kind of like, I wish I was in 1987.
-
I've been like, this is awesome. Whoa, alright, now I'm playing
-
things in my life and I'll tell you what, most of the time what
-
I expect to happen does not happen.
-
Sometimes I am disappointed with the results of said party.
-
Now let's take that just a little bit further.
-
Maybe you have experienced things in your life where you
-
thought it was going to go 1. Way.
-
And it went the total opposite way.
-
Yeah, yeah. I'll share.
-
I'm sharing stuff that is. Back so I don't have a
-
counseling. Session with you.
-
I'll leave that up to the Holy Spirit.
-
He's my counselor and so he'll work things out to me.
-
I don't have a counseling session here on Salt Church, but
-
here's here's one that I was super disappointed with in 2020.
-
I was. Graduating with with a from.
-
Region in a particular degree and I had vision.
-
I had, I had, I had visualized. Anybody practice visualization?
-
I do it all the time. Good stuff, good stuff.
-
I had been in the studies. How many go to have gone to
-
college? Going to college?
-
How many are out of? College.
-
Thank you Jesus, thank you. How many are in college saying
-
help me? OK.
-
All right. Well, I spent a whole lot of
-
time in college and I would use visualization to be like my
-
preferred future was coming. One of those things was I'm
-
going to walk across the stage, so rewind when I'm writing a
-
paper and I would like you, you've experienced this.
-
I used up all my brain cells and this thing is due and I don't
-
have anything. And then I would say, OK, just
-
pause. Jesus help me.
-
There will be a. Time.
-
Oh, that's right. Where?
-
All my family were gathered to celebrate me accomplishing this
-
great task. And I'll be walking.
-
On that stage and reaching university and I'm.
-
Going to be in my whole new thing and I'm going to.
-
Stand like a man and I'm going to grandma.
-
The degree across that. Stage and I was like yeah, thank
-
you Jesus and then we're going to party.
-
It's going to be great. What a day and this particular
-
degree I was getting on the other side of it.
-
I was getting a raise on top of that.
-
Come on somebody. So every time I got discouraged,
-
I would think about that, Oh, I have a couple more Dimes in the
-
bank account and I'm going to go in then in 20. 20 This thing
-
happened. They cancelled every graduation
-
and. It was called COVID.
-
So I'm sitting over there thinking, I had all this stuff
-
and it starts in March and then my graduation is May.
-
And I don't know, but if you fell in that trap where you were
-
like, this is just going to be a week, this would be just a week,
-
OK, this is just a month. I'd be like.
-
But I remember feeling disappointed now.
-
Good. Thing is, I have a.
-
Sweet daughter named Joy. And joy, man.
-
She is such a blessing to our family.
-
She's. Probably 14 at the time.
-
She goes outside. We live on a.
-
Second story. Flat and she goes into the yard
-
and she puts out a couple chairs.
-
And she? Puts out a little podium like.
-
This and she makes a. Little.
-
A little. Degree and she rolls it up and
-
puts a little twine on it and she says dad, what I want you to
-
do is I want you to I want you to put on your cap and gown
-
because. The family's going to have a
-
celebration for you today. And so I sat in my yard, and I
-
was the valid. Victorian.
-
I gave a speech and. Everything you know, I'm like.
-
Yes, Sir. We're all gathered here today to
-
hear from me. Top of the class.
-
Nobody knew I was lying. It was cool.
-
It was great. His blood covers whatever.
-
That was a joke. I didn't really do it, but.
-
No, I wasn't valid before. Won all the awards, but the Lord
-
kind of redeemed it. And I remember talking to one of
-
my good friends, Doctor Lynn Westman, and she's a counselor.
-
Do you anybody in counseling? Like is that your field in here?
-
I love counselors. I love.
-
Counselors. Well, Doctor Lynn Westman, she's
-
one of my heroes and she counsels me and I don't even
-
know what's happening. Like she's got that anointed.
-
You have those friends. Like some of the friends don't
-
have the degree. She has a degree.
-
Someone has those friends where they just grab stuff out of you
-
and then they the Lord uses that gift to just fix you.
-
I don't know how he does that. I'm like a man.
-
I'm. Just I'm fixed and like, how did
-
I get here? Well, I would talk to Doctor
-
Lynn and I said, she said, how are you doing?
-
And I said I'm disappointed. She's like, why?
-
And I and you know what, I had stuffed that disappointment.
-
You know why? Because there are people going
-
through worse things at that particular time than me not
-
getting my degree and walking across the.
-
Stage. I mean, people were losing
-
their. Lives and what I did was I was
-
like, in light of what everybody else is going through, I'm not
-
going to deal with that emotion, not how it goes when you're
-
having those emotions. We want to stuff them, but the
-
Lord wants to. Heal.
-
Them and so I was trying to be like, well, Doctor Lynn, all
-
this stuff happened she. Says whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a
-
second. Spend some time and let's
-
process that for a second. With the Lord about.
-
Being disappointed and so there are three ways.
-
Let me talk to your. Soul, just for a second, and
-
then we'll get to where? There are three ways things hit
-
us in life. It's external, internal and
-
theologically external. Internal theologically let's the
-
instance of me not walking that day, external wasn't it came at
-
me, did not expect it. Internally, I experienced the
-
the onslaught of what was coming at me and it produced something
-
in my soul. Does that make sense?
-
Am I tracking with you? It produces something.
-
Now, what most people don't factor in is how important
-
theologically fancy word for how you view God, how that
-
determines and effects those other two.
-
This is why it's really important that you read your
-
word. This is why it's really
-
important that you study the word, because how do you view
-
God? How do you view Jesus?
-
Now let me just give some of you just the hey, hey, this is the
-
way out. Jesus is perfect theology.
-
Amen. All right.
-
And you can think about that for a whole long time.
-
Jesus is perfect theology. OK, so if I go to Jesus, learn
-
from him because you're not following me, you're not
-
following John Michael, you're not.
-
You're following Jesus. Now all the other individuals
-
follow Jesus and then we do this thing together.
-
But you are called to follow Jesus.
-
And if he is perfect theology, then he is going to help you
-
navigate through life situations.
-
All right, so listen here. Here's the deal.
-
When things hit us externally, if internally something's not
-
right, it will cause this, this, this spinning out in your life,
-
so to speak, because you're not viewing things correctly.
-
All right? So if you censor yourself, OK,
-
well, here's Jesus. Here's one theological thought
-
that I'll just send you home with.
-
It's crazy some of the things so simple, but you could spend a
-
whole lifetime thinking through this.
-
Jesus was fully God and fully man Amen.
-
What the world? What does that mean?
-
He was fully God. So in the Book of Revelation,
-
Jesus is the king of kings coming down in the with the
-
White Horse. He destroys everything and he
-
doesn't even need any help. He got people behind him.
-
He he he wraps this thing up all by himself.
-
Jesus is fully God who but he is fully made when he was on earth,
-
and that means he experienced a whole lot of what we experience
-
as fallen human beings. Now Jesus did it all without
-
sinning, did it all without misstep, but he experienced what
-
we're he experienced on earth. Are you with him?
-
OK, now I have used that understanding theologically to
-
get me through a whole lot of stuff because there are times
-
where I'm like, Jesus is coming and he's going to destroy all my
-
enemies. That's not where I'm at today.
-
There are also times in my life when I'm struggling with.
-
Stuff that is just real and I need the king to.
-
Sit by me and help. Me out in my mouth.
-
I need Jesus, the one that. Talked to his disciples.
-
And said I no. Longer call you servants, I call
-
you friend. I need the king, that is.
-
Suffering. I need the king to help me.
-
And here's one of the things and that that's helped me in my
-
life. I hope it, I hope that helped.
-
Think through it because sometimes we're like waiting for
-
the conquering king when he's saying, I just want to sit with
-
you, dear, and tell you how much I love you.
-
I, I just want to encourage you, dude.
-
You are doing a great job leading your family.
-
Come, come to the King, Sit down with him, sit with him.
-
Well, there is one thing that happened to me and I was, I was
-
reading the scriptures and I had never come to Jesus with my
-
disappointment. It's so strange to me that I had
-
never come to Him with this disappointment.
-
So there was something that I struggle with that I would try
-
to own. Is there manly men in here?
-
I like, I know it's John Michaels church, you got manly
-
men in here and there's nothing wrong with that.
-
I think we should be men. We should be men in lead, right?
-
But there is things that we go through emotionally that we have
-
to say, how do I, how do I work this thing out with Jesus?
-
How do I sit with him and be like, how do I net?
-
Well, one of the things that I had never done is I had
-
experienced disappointment because we all do.
-
That's number one. Disappointment is common to us
-
all. I had experienced disappointment
-
and I had tried. To get on the other side of it
-
in my own strength with not it, without inviting the Lord with
-
me, does it? Am I here?
-
He and I was reading the passages and I came across Luke
Luke 14 chapter mention
-
chapter 14. Now in Luke chapter 14, we have
Luke 14 chapter mention
-
this situation that plays out. You can follow along.
-
I'm going to paraphrase it until we get to our verses in verse 15
-
through 24. It's the great banquet is the
-
parable Jesus shares in Luke chapter 14.
Luke 14 chapter mention
-
Find Jesus. He's impassioned.
-
We all right His like he is. People are coming after Jesus.
-
He's about to die for the sins of humanity.
-
They're about to hang them on a cross.
-
It is Passion Week and people are coming at them and the
-
Pharisees want to take him out. Like this is no joke.
-
Jesus is, they're after him. He gets invited to come to a
-
Pharisee's house and he attends. Jesus didn't run away from
-
conflict. He ran into it and then went
-
through it. He sits in this Pharisee's house
-
and it's a setup. It's like Jesus come to dinner
-
with us. We're setting you up.
-
All eyes are on Jesus. Matter of fact, they bring in
-
somebody that is sick just to see if Jesus will heal him on
-
the Sabbath. Now, Can you imagine if you read
-
this passage, Can you imagine being that sick guy?
-
Come on, Why don't you come with me to this house?
-
It's like, why are you inviting me here?
-
There in this, in this particular issue, the guy is
-
dealing with swelling of the body, like he's his liver is
-
messed up or something. His body's not acting right.
-
They pick somebody that's sick, they're like, come to this
-
thing. All right, Jesus is there, All
-
eyes are on him. Jesus says, hey, do you think
-
it's lawful to sin and to heal on the sound crickets.
-
Oh, they knew what they wanted to say to Jesus, but those
-
Pharisees, they didn't have the courage to say anything to the
-
King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
-
He says, hey, silence. He turns.
-
And he heals the van. It was so cool.
-
I don't know what verse it. Is four or five.
-
He heals him and sends him on his way.
-
They invite this man in here as a set up to see if Jesus would
-
heal him on the Sabbath, but they're all ticked off.
-
Trying to kill him over Jesus is like, hey, if your kid fell in a
-
ditch, if your oxen fell in a ditch, when you pick him up and
-
he heals this man and sends him on his way, he's like, look,
-
this party's not for you my friend, go ahead and leave.
-
Sends him on my management being that sick guy.
-
Come on, that's the best party he ever went to.
-
And then he begins to talk to them.
-
So then he says, I think it's he notices how the guests pick the
-
best seats. You know what, I think in
-
America, if we would just do this one, we would go a whole
-
whole far away. Teach your kids this.
-
Don't take the best seat when you come in a room.
-
That's a McKee rule. Here's another McKee rule.
-
Liters eat last. Don't come into the room and
-
take the best seat. So Jesus is at this Pharisees
-
party and he sees people jockeying for position and he
-
says, look, this is not how this thing is supposed to work.
-
If you come in and you see the best seat and you sit in it,
-
then you're liable to have the, the, the person that's running
-
the show come in and say, hey, look, that was reserved for John
-
Michael. You're sitting in John Michael's
-
seat. No, he says, the best thing you
-
can do is find the the seat that is farthest away so that when
-
the host comes in, they'll say, hey, why don't you come move up
-
in here, right? And he's teaching them how the
-
Kingdom works. He's in on in real time.
-
That's how Jesus is talking in real time.
-
He's saying this is what's happening.
-
This is what should happen. Then he says, OK, well, here's
-
the deals. What's happening is that you
-
guys are just inviting all your friends to come to your parties.
-
The best party you could have is if you went to the to to invited
-
people that really couldn't afford to come.
-
The cripple, the lame, invite them to the party.
-
That's how a party's supposed to go.
-
Then let me see if I caught it all.
-
I think I did good. You can read it later if and
-
text John Michael if I missed it.
-
So then in verse 15, let's pick up in verse 15.
-
Are you still with me this morning?
-
OK, verse 15 when one of those at the table with him heard
-
this, he said to Jesus, blessed is the one who will eat at the
-
feast in the Kingdom of God. Pharisee ask this to Jesus.
-
Jesus is prime. Teach them something.
-
This Pharisee says hey, it's good to know and we're all going
-
to be eaten up in that. Kingdom of Heaven.
-
And what Jesus is trying to teach them is that the Kingdom
-
is not only the Kingdom to come, it's the Kingdom now.
-
And you can take that home with you like you can have the
-
Kingdom now. Today.
-
The Kingdom is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy
-
Spirit. The Kingdom is at hand.
-
And Jesus is trying to tell the Pharisee guys, you have been
-
waiting for something that is here right in front of you.
-
It's me. And then he tells this parable.
-
Now parables are awesome. How many like parables?
-
You should read all the parables.
-
I think there's 37 parables that Jesus writes.
-
They are really, really good stuff.
-
So here's the parable. And then let's let's tag it into
-
disappointment because one of the things I just didn't, didn't
-
click with me was that Jesus has been disappointed.
-
And maybe that's just for me right there, but the fact that
-
Jesus was disappointed gave. Me, the strength to walk.
-
Through disappointment and when I.
-
Read this parable I saw. Keys to overcoming the villain
-
of disappointment to being on the.
-
Other side of of. Disappointment and it starts
-
with this first one, Jesus replied.
-
A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many
-
guests. At the time of the banquet, He
-
sent his servants to tell those who had been invited come, for
-
everything is now ready. Jesus prepares this banquet and
-
he's saying everything's been ready, everything is ready, and
-
he's invited people to come. You know who he's talking to?
-
He's talking to the Pharisees. He's saying you have already
-
been invited. The table has already been set.
-
Come then in verse 18 it says, but they but they all alike
-
began to make excuses. The first said I have bought a
-
field and I must go and. See it?
-
Now let me just pause. Who buys a field and then goes
-
and sees it? Right.
-
That's a lame excuse, 19 another said.
-
I have just bought 5 yokin of oxen and I'm on my way to try
-
them out. Please excuse me who works at
-
that time of. Day third excuse, which I think
-
is the best. Excuse.
-
There's still another said. I just got married so I can't
-
come. John Michael would not like
-
that. Well, what wife would not want
-
to get all. Dressed up and go to a banquet
-
that's already. Been prepared.
-
So what Jesus is saying to these Pharisees is that you have made
-
excuses. Now listen, I'm not going to
-
harp these excuses because you're here.
-
Today on a Sunday. Morning and you've.
-
Decided not to. Use any of those excuses.
-
But we have used all those excuses, right?
-
So let that sit for a second as you encourage others to come to
-
the. Local House of God.
-
As you you know, it is so easy in our world to make up a lame
-
excuse to not coming. I think Jesus would be more
-
pleased that we were just honest.
-
Yes. Right, so he.
-
Sends out this this request and here's the deal.
-
Like in ancient, in this time in Jewish time they would go door
-
to door and invite you to banquets.
-
So that means. Like they would, they would say,
-
OK. Are the clerks coming?
-
Yeah, we're coming. I'll put you down.
-
Are you guys coming? Yeah, I'll put you down.
-
I got you. I see you, darling.
-
Your family coming. I got you.
-
I got you. I got you.
-
And they would get a rough estimate.
-
And whoever is playing the church picnics.
-
You live this a rough estimate on how many people are going to
-
come. Then they would send out the
-
official invite. So then the official invite
-
would send up in your inbox and you'd be like, OK, then you make
-
the excuse right. So Jesus is talking to these.
-
So the so here here. So everybody deals with
-
disappointment and how to overcome this disappointment is
-
I need? I need one of those sheets.
-
I had it written somewhere. Resolve, Disappointment leads to
-
adaptability. It leads you to adapt.
-
Now listen in this in this particular parable, Luke chapter
-
1421. Let's get there real quick.
-
So they make the excuses. The servants came back and
-
reported this to the master. Then the owner of the house
-
became angry and ordered servants go out quickly into the
-
streets and alleys, out into the towns and bring in the poor, the
-
crippled, the blind and the lame.
-
In order to resolve disappointment, you need to
-
adapt to your present situation. Does that make sense?
-
There's there's this in this parable.
-
He was quick to adapt. He's like, OK, I invited all my
-
friends and all my friends didn't come because they had
-
lane excuses. Well, he didn't stay into in the
-
disappointment. He adapted it and said, OK,
-
well, now here's what we do. We go out and we invite the
-
cripple, the lane. We bring them in.
-
One of the ways to resolve disappointment is to see what
-
the opportunity is. That is presented itself.
-
In my situation, when I was talking about graduating, my
-
daughter Joy adapted, didn't she?
-
She saw the disappointment from Dad and she made a quick
-
decision to say, we're going to redeem this.
-
The longer you stay in something, the more it seeds in
-
you. And I'm not saying you can't
-
work through your emotions now. And everybody is wired a little
-
bit differently. So sometimes we like to think
-
our way out. Sometimes some people feel their
-
way out. I get you.
-
I'm not here to try to figure out who you are and how you're
-
wired. That's insanity.
-
I'm saying once you identify the disappointment is familiar to us
-
all, Look for the opportunities. How can we shift this?
-
How do we resolve this? How do we adapt?
-
All right, now listen the the next one and I got some points
-
there for you in verse 22 and 23, resolve disappointment leads
-
to perseverance. Verse 22 and 23, Sir, the
-
servant said, once your order has be done, been done, but
-
there's still room, then the master told his servants, go out
-
to the roads in the country lanes and compel them to come so
-
that my house will be full. And everybody said, Amen.
-
There is always room in God's house for more people.
-
All right, resolve, disappointment leads to
-
perseverance. Now let me just push a little
-
bit here. OK, in all love.
-
Let me get back into my love. Sometimes I'll get to the
-
exhorting. Thing it's.
-
Time to build some perseverance. In your.
-
Life and the way that God does that one way is because we live
-
in a fallen world and we have to adapt and we have to persevere
-
through some stuff like if we could just be like, OK, magic
-
genie Jesus. Last time I checked in the IMS
-
Iams of Jesus, the seven Iams, there wasn't the magic genie
-
Jesus. I am discipleship.
-
Following Jesus is a process. We go through stuff.
-
I'm here to tell you that on the other side of that resolved
-
disappointment is a bigger, better promise on the other
-
side. And there needs to be in the
-
body of Christ, there needs to be this call to surrendering to
-
Him and persevering through stuff.
-
Because on the other side of your disappointment is
-
opportunity. On the other side of
-
disappointment is, is something that Jesus has in store for you
-
Now, Did He 'cause it? I don't know.
-
Some stuff comes externally, some comes internally, some
-
comes because we're just hanging around people that are in fallen
-
world. Sometimes we take on more stuff
-
than we can. Sometimes we have an expectation
-
of what we think God is doing, but he's going to do something
-
different. Sometimes we have this, this,
-
this, this, this, and this. Can I tell you a lot of things
-
that I wanted to do in my life or had planned to do in my life
-
have come out totally different. I mean, just been different and
-
it's not been bad. But if I had a stayed in the
-
season of disappointment, like if you're still in
-
disappointment in this year, next year and next year, come
-
on, come on somebody. It's time to say, you know what,
-
they disappointed me. Call it what it is.
-
A spade is a spade, but the blood covers it.
-
And I'm moving on because we can't stay in disappointment in
-
this in this regard, because there are people that are going
-
to hell all around us and we need to get over ourselves.
-
OK, That's as hard as I could go in the loving.
-
Are you receiving it? Like so there's something in
-
your life today. I'm telling you, Jesus sent me
-
to you today. There's something in your life
-
that you got to say. I'm going to set that free and
-
move on. Yes, I was disappointed, but now
-
I'm resolving my disappointment because just like Jesus was
-
disappointed in the Pharisees that they were going to kill
-
him. They literally killed him.
-
Jesus came to save the Jews and the very people he came back to
-
nailed him on a cross and insulted him.
-
And we're so thankful that he died and he came back for them.
-
You talk about disappointed, Jesus was disappointed.
-
So it's time. It's time.
-
It's like, OK, today, let's just break free of that mess.
-
I don't know what it is in your life.
-
Maybe you planned something that didn't work out.
-
Maybe it's a relationship. Maybe it's something internal.
-
External things just didn't go the way they were supposed to
-
go. It's time to say, OK, OK, In
-
order to have a fresh start, in order to see the new thing that
-
you have in store for me, I got to let go of this
-
disappointment. And I know in order to let go of
-
this disappointment, I need to let you perfect in me something
-
that is of you. On the other side of
-
disappointment is strength, my friends.
-
I mean, what is in you will come out of you.
-
Can I tell you that out of the abundance of the heart, the
-
mouth speaks when things are calm, You need to be putting
-
some good stuff in you. Because when the storm comes and
-
the trouble comes, what is in you is going to come out of you.
-
And if you will learn how to mitigate, manage walkthrough
-
disappointment now, when things maybe aren't so, so hard pressed
-
on you, when you get into the situation, you will do things
-
without thinking about them. All right, enough so he says.
-
So my house will be full. Resolvement, resolve,
-
disappointment fortifies your faith.
-
It fortifies your faith. Now listen in this particular
-
parable, and I hope you caught it.
-
And Jesus shares parables so that we keep you so we can get a
-
truth to it. There's always room for people.
-
In God's house. And this and I and I love Salt
-
Church because there's room for people to come here.
-
Don't get to the place where you have not made space for somebody
-
that doesn't know what you know about Jesus not being able to.
-
Sit there because churches. Are known for being the screen.
-
Door to what Jesus is. Doing in somebody's life and we
-
can get on these other side of these seasons.
-
And be like, look, my life looks a whole.
-
Lot more in order than it did back.
-
Then. But it wasn't me that put it in
-
order, It was him. It was His word becoming flesh
-
in my life. And if I get.
-
Prideful, like the Pharisees, I will say my life is in order
-
because I And then when there's somebody in utter chaos, life
-
falling. Apart that could do your three
-
things that you haven't swore for their life and it would
-
magically get better. Struggling over there, but we're
-
way over here and we're saying they don't have a.
-
Seat at my. Banquet.
-
Don't be that church. Don't be that individual.
-
Jesus says, go out and get those yes, that are hurting and
-
bringing in. What is Jesus saying in that
-
parable? He's living this out.
-
He's saying, Pharisees, if you followed me around, I'm the one
-
that's healing that that man that you brought in here that
-
was sick. Matter of fact, I've come here
-
and I've poured out my life for the least of these.
-
Amen. He's saying I'm already there.
-
He's telling the Pharisees that's me, that's what I've
-
done. If I was going to throw a
-
banquet. And then he says this.
-
He says go out and compel them. That word compel, That's an
-
interesting word. You should look it up because it
-
literally means to compel, to state strongly to convince
-
matter of fact, there in, in church history, there have been
-
churches that have taken that word, compel to the extreme and
-
they have caused a whole host of harm.
-
You know what they did? They looked it up and it was
-
compelled. And so they define compel
-
screaming and yelling and compelling from the rooftops, in
-
the sideways and byways, in the bushes and hedges.
-
Who, who hides behind the hedge? But look that, he said, go to
-
the hedges. I, I, I, I'll think about that.
-
Where are the people that are hiding?
-
Behind the hedge when do? You get to the place where
-
you're thinking strategically about how do we get people that
-
don't even think about? Church to come here to come to
-
him. You know what's interesting
-
about this parable? Let's not come here.
-
It's goad there. And a lot of times what we do in
-
our church, the only thing is bad it's we've created a
-
banquet. Come everybody and Jesus is
-
saying go yes and compel. He's saying go out there and
-
then Brendan here, he well, that's inconvenient.
-
Jesus. Well, yeah, but there's room in
-
my house. There's.
-
Room in my house. This is why, personally
-
speaking, I love. The church.
-
And I don't just love lighthouse in salt.
-
I love the church. Because every local expression
-
of the church is an. Opportunity to reach people that
-
no one else is reaching. I love the church.
-
The Church is the answer in our world.
-
Amen, but there. Needs to be this participation
-
from the followers of Jesus. That say, you know what?
-
I'm going to do things. No one else is doing to reach
-
people that no one else is reaching.
-
And you're only going to do that on the other.
-
Side of discouragement. You're only going to do that on
-
the other side where you're like, OK, I've learned how to
-
manage my. House I've learned how to.
-
Manage my relationship with Jesus and I don't I don't get it
-
all right and thank the Lord because that makes that that
-
brings me right to his feet every single time.
-
But I am healthy enough to look out for the interests.
-
Of others. And.
-
Bring them into a relationship. With Jesus.
-
So can you stand with me this morning?
-
Again, let's finish the way we started.
-
Just put your hands out in the act of receiving from the Lord.
-
Jesus, we just love you, just love on the King, we love you.
-
Jesus, we love you so much. You are so good to us.
-
You are so good to us. You are so good to us.
-
Thank you. I'm going to ask this question
-
because I don't know everyone in this room.
-
Jesus did for you what no one else could do.
-
He lived a sinless life. He.
-
Gave his life up for you so that you could have relationship with
-
Him. Says in the scriptures that
-
whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
-
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and the reason why.
-
Jesus is the. Only way while one of the
-
reasons is because he didn't want to complicate things here
-
on earth, some people are like, hey, there's so many ways to.
-
God no, there's one way. And his name is Jesus, and so
-
there's no debate. About it you.
-
Can only come to God and the Father through Jesus, and He has
-
paved the way for you to do that.
-
And it's called the good. News.
-
It's not bad news. It is.
-
Great news and the great. News is that you have.
-
Sinned and fallen, that's a bad news.
-
Sin and fallen short of the glory of God.
-
But Jesus did for you, which you could never do for yourself.
-
He has washed. Away he has taken every sin of
-
humanity upon himself, and he willingly gave his life, and the
-
Lord raised him up so that we. Could have a relationship.
-
With him and. All you have to do.
-
It is so simple, is call on. The name of the Lord.
-
You just say Jesus, I need you, Jesus, I need you.
-
And if there's anyone in here today, I'm going to count the
-
three, but there's nothing. Special about the number.
-
Three, I'm just. Letting the Holy Spirit draw you
-
to Him and today's your day. Today is the day of salvation.
-
Today is the day where your life is brand new in Him and the
-
weight of sin, the burden of sin will just float off of your life
-
and you will be His forever. If that's you today, all across
-
this room, just lift your hand up.
-
Anybody, anyone. How many this morning?
-
How many this morning? All right, my second call.
-
Is that I? Know during this message that
-
there is something, some kind of disappointment that has been
-
tripping you up and Jesus just sent me with a message to Saul
-
Church to let's not get tripped up about what God has already
-
settled. It's time to move on.
-
It's time to take the step. Today is the day that you
-
resolve that disappointment. Amen.
-
So if that's you today, just lift your hand.
-
I'm not calling anybody up. I just want to.
-
See a hand? If the Holy Spirit is there you
-
go. I see those hands.
-
How many more? How many more disappointment is
-
coming to us all? How many more?
-
All right, say this with me, Lord Jesus.
-
Lord Jesus, I give you this disappointment and Lord, I pray
-
and Lord, I pray for your grace and your love to overwhelm me,
-
to overwhelm me in Jesus name, Jesus name and just let that go.
-
Hallelujah. And here's my counsel to you as
-
to you need to manage that decision that you've made today.
-
Sometimes I put stakes in the ground.
-
My family puts stakes in the ground and the reason why is
-
we're saying we're no longer going there anymore.
-
This is a new season. Today is a new day.
-
And so you. Just put a stake.
-
Sometimes you need to put a stake.
-
In it and then move. From it.
-
So Laura, thank you for lifting burdens today in Jesus name.
-
We trust you in Jesus name. And here's the last call to the
-
church. It's a call to all of us.
-
It's a call to all of us. Pray this prayer with me, Lord,
-
Lord, give us, give us your urgency, your urgency for those
-
people, for those people that we are to reach, that we are to
-
reach in Jesus name, in Jesus name.
-
When I pray for supernatural urgency, urgency that had
-
intention, urgency that was strategic urgency to reach those
-
people that don't know you and what I pray for that seed to be
-
distributed in Jesus name, in Jesus mighty name, in Jesus name
-
and all God's people said Amen. God bless you guys.
-
We love you. I love you.
-
Thank you. Peace be upon you.
-
Thank you so much.
