  1. Good morning, everyone. Oh, I'm recording John Michaels

  2. listening right now. To me, it's always a privilege

  3. and honor to speak at Salt Church.

  4. You guys are one of my favorite people on planet Earth.

  5. For those of you that do not know me, I am Pastor Daniel.

  6. I've been a staff pastor at Lighthouse and Gloucester for 20

  7. years or so. I'm the executive pastor and

  8. man, I just love Jesus, all right, You know, I have, like

  9. many of you, put all my chips on the table in front of our King

  10. and said, hey, can you arrange my life to bring glory to your

  11. name? And so Jesus stands above

  12. everything in my life and will always.

  13. And, and so I just try to live that way and I just love him so

  14. much. So I try to love like Jesus.

  15. I try to live like Jesus. I try to lead like Jesus.

  16. I want everything to be about our King because he's done so

  17. much for me. And so that's where I'm coming

  18. from today. So yeah, I've accomplished

  19. things in my life, but whatever. I think if you follow Jesus long

  20. enough, you will see his glory be revealed in your life and

  21. people will be affected in a positive way and, and praise God

  22. for that. But I just want to speak from my

  23. heart this morning. Thanks again, Natalie and John

  24. Michael for inviting me here. I have a couple Sundays a year

  25. that I can get away from Lighthouse and I choose Salt

  26. Church every time. So and and so I just I feel like

  27. I have a word now. I have shared this word a few

  28. weeks ago. So.

  29. If you heard it then and don't be disappointed because.

  30. It is on disappointment if. You are disappointed.

  31. That's my my. Teaching and if I could get

  32. somebody to hand out some notes. I'm, I learned this from Pastor

  33. Ken. We'll have some notes.

  34. So if I get off track, there it is.

  35. That's what I was supposed to say right there.

  36. And if you want to join, turn to Luke chapter 15.

    Luke 15 chapter mention

  37. My family gives their love to you.

  38. They are at home. Jennifer is steadily recovering

  39. from from a stroke 8 months ago, so she's doing well.

  40. And so the family's at home and that's where they are at.

  41. All right, So turn with me to Luke Chapter 14.

    Luke 14 chapter mention

  42. Maybe it's just for me. Come on somebody, if you don't

  43. go to church and feel the love of God, then come on, you got to

  44. find it. Find another church.

  45. But the spirit of of the Lord is in here today.

  46. So. If you could, could just.

  47. You, you don't have to stand up, just put your hands out like

  48. this in the act of receiving from the Lord.

  49. Oh Lord, we come to you today. I just thank you for your

  50. unconditional love that cost you everything that you did for us,

  51. what we could never do for ourselves.

  52. You lived on this fallen world and did not sin, and then you

  53. gave up willingly your life upon that cross so that we can have a

  54. relationship with you. Father, you didn't Jesus, you

  55. didn't state that God raised you from the dead.

  56. And Lord, that love, I just pray for that sacrificial love to be

  57. shed abroad supernaturally in every heart here today.

  58. Lord, that our Sunday would be effective, that our Mondays and

  59. Tuesday, may we have moments where we just take a deep breath

  60. and realize that you have done for us what we can never do for

  61. ourselves. Yes, we are called to work, but

  62. we are called to work from faith, not for faith.

  63. Your faith, your love is what compels us.

  64. Father, I pray for that love to be shit abroad, not to others,

  65. but. Individually, as you would.

  66. Call each and every one of us by name and say you are my son, I

  67. love you, you are my daughter, I love you.

  68. I'm well pleased with you. I want to pray for that to

  69. permeate every part of these next few minutes that we have

  70. together. That your love would be shown,

  71. that would be displayed, that would be received, that it would

  72. be something that would shift our mindset, the atmosphere.

  73. It would change everything. Your love changes everything.

  74. God is love and your love never fails.

  75. When we choose you, we receive love.

  76. When we operate from that love, our actions will never fail.

  77. And so Lord, I pray for that confidence, that boldness to

  78. abide and live from that love. And I'll give you all the glory.

  79. We give you all the glory in Jesus name, Amen.

  80. Can you remember a time? Where you had like the best

  81. birthday party ever. Think for a second.

  82. You did you have one you had did you just recently have like the

  83. best? Birthday.

  84. Party ever. Not recently, but one of the

  85. ones. OK, all right.

  86. I remember. My best birthday party was. 1987

  87. and that was a long time ago. And you can do the math.

  88. But I don't do math anymore, so yeah, I'm past 40 and the.

  89. Yeah, so that was a long time ago, but I was. 11 years old and

  90. I didn't realize how awesome the birthday party was until I've

  91. had a series of. Birthday parties that didn't go

  92. according to plan? That makes sense.

  93. I mean, sometimes things happen in your life and you're you look

  94. back and you're like, I should have enjoyed.

  95. That more Anybody there should have enjoyed that moment.

  96. Well, it was 1987 and my team the.

  97. Redskins Any Redskins fans in? Here, All right.

  98. I still call them the Redskins. You can cancel me, but you got

  99. to forgive me. Either way.

  100. The blood of Jesus forgives me. There's still the Redskins to

  101. me. The Redskins went to the Super

  102. Bowl, and back then the Super Bowl had a chance to fall on my

  103. birthday, January 31st, 19. You can put January 31st on your

  104. phone if you want to get me something.

  105. January 31st, 1987, the Redskins go to the Super Bowl on my

  106. birthday. Praise the Lord, I wasn't even

  107. serving him back then, but he was like, I got you.

  108. You're coming to me so excited. They're playing the Denver

  109. Broncos. All right.

  110. Now, the Denver Broncos happen to be my wife's favorite

  111. football team, and I didn't know her back then, but I remind her

  112. of 1987 all the time. And like you remember that time.

  113. All right. So they threw me a big birthday

  114. party, had the cake and everything, and you know what?

  115. It didn't disappoint because when the game was played. 42 to

  116. 10. Come on, the Redskins whooped

  117. them. Doug Williams.

  118. Come on, Art Monk. I mean, you had some great

  119. football players, but I. Was like the best come on,

  120. somebody the hogs don't, don't, don't let, don't take me down

  121. that rabbit hole. That's the story that's not

  122. there. But that was the best birthday

  123. party I ever had. Have you ever had a party that

  124. you planned that didn't go according to plan?

  125. Like that one was kind of like, I wish I was in 1987.

  126. I've been like, this is awesome. Whoa, alright, now I'm playing

  127. things in my life and I'll tell you what, most of the time what

  128. I expect to happen does not happen.

  129. Sometimes I am disappointed with the results of said party.

  130. Now let's take that just a little bit further.

  131. Maybe you have experienced things in your life where you

  132. thought it was going to go 1. Way.

  133. And it went the total opposite way.

  134. Yeah, yeah. I'll share.

  135. I'm sharing stuff that is. Back so I don't have a

  136. counseling. Session with you.

  137. I'll leave that up to the Holy Spirit.

  138. He's my counselor and so he'll work things out to me.

  139. I don't have a counseling session here on Salt Church, but

  140. here's here's one that I was super disappointed with in 2020.

  141. I was. Graduating with with a from.

  142. Region in a particular degree and I had vision.

  143. I had, I had, I had visualized. Anybody practice visualization?

  144. I do it all the time. Good stuff, good stuff.

  145. I had been in the studies. How many go to have gone to

  146. college? Going to college?

  147. How many are out of? College.

  148. Thank you Jesus, thank you. How many are in college saying

  149. help me? OK.

  150. All right. Well, I spent a whole lot of

  151. time in college and I would use visualization to be like my

  152. preferred future was coming. One of those things was I'm

  153. going to walk across the stage, so rewind when I'm writing a

  154. paper and I would like you, you've experienced this.

  155. I used up all my brain cells and this thing is due and I don't

  156. have anything. And then I would say, OK, just

  157. pause. Jesus help me.

  158. There will be a. Time.

  159. Oh, that's right. Where?

  160. All my family were gathered to celebrate me accomplishing this

  161. great task. And I'll be walking.

  162. On that stage and reaching university and I'm.

  163. Going to be in my whole new thing and I'm going to.

  164. Stand like a man and I'm going to grandma.

  165. The degree across that. Stage and I was like yeah, thank

  166. you Jesus and then we're going to party.

  167. It's going to be great. What a day and this particular

  168. degree I was getting on the other side of it.

  169. I was getting a raise on top of that.

  170. Come on somebody. So every time I got discouraged,

  171. I would think about that, Oh, I have a couple more Dimes in the

  172. bank account and I'm going to go in then in 20. 20 This thing

  173. happened. They cancelled every graduation

  174. and. It was called COVID.

  175. So I'm sitting over there thinking, I had all this stuff

  176. and it starts in March and then my graduation is May.

  177. And I don't know, but if you fell in that trap where you were

  178. like, this is just going to be a week, this would be just a week,

  179. OK, this is just a month. I'd be like.

  180. But I remember feeling disappointed now.

  181. Good. Thing is, I have a.

  182. Sweet daughter named Joy. And joy, man.

  183. She is such a blessing to our family.

  184. She's. Probably 14 at the time.

  185. She goes outside. We live on a.

  186. Second story. Flat and she goes into the yard

  187. and she puts out a couple chairs.

  188. And she? Puts out a little podium like.

  189. This and she makes a. Little.

  190. A little. Degree and she rolls it up and

  191. puts a little twine on it and she says dad, what I want you to

  192. do is I want you to I want you to put on your cap and gown

  193. because. The family's going to have a

  194. celebration for you today. And so I sat in my yard, and I

  195. was the valid. Victorian.

  196. I gave a speech and. Everything you know, I'm like.

  197. Yes, Sir. We're all gathered here today to

  198. hear from me. Top of the class.

  199. Nobody knew I was lying. It was cool.

  200. It was great. His blood covers whatever.

  201. That was a joke. I didn't really do it, but.

  202. No, I wasn't valid before. Won all the awards, but the Lord

  203. kind of redeemed it. And I remember talking to one of

  204. my good friends, Doctor Lynn Westman, and she's a counselor.

  205. Do you anybody in counseling? Like is that your field in here?

  206. I love counselors. I love.

  207. Counselors. Well, Doctor Lynn Westman, she's

  208. one of my heroes and she counsels me and I don't even

  209. know what's happening. Like she's got that anointed.

  210. You have those friends. Like some of the friends don't

  211. have the degree. She has a degree.

  212. Someone has those friends where they just grab stuff out of you

  213. and then they the Lord uses that gift to just fix you.

  214. I don't know how he does that. I'm like a man.

  215. I'm. Just I'm fixed and like, how did

  216. I get here? Well, I would talk to Doctor

  217. Lynn and I said, she said, how are you doing?

  218. And I said I'm disappointed. She's like, why?

  219. And I and you know what, I had stuffed that disappointment.

  220. You know why? Because there are people going

  221. through worse things at that particular time than me not

  222. getting my degree and walking across the.

  223. Stage. I mean, people were losing

  224. their. Lives and what I did was I was

  225. like, in light of what everybody else is going through, I'm not

  226. going to deal with that emotion, not how it goes when you're

  227. having those emotions. We want to stuff them, but the

  228. Lord wants to. Heal.

  229. Them and so I was trying to be like, well, Doctor Lynn, all

  230. this stuff happened she. Says whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a

  231. second. Spend some time and let's

  232. process that for a second. With the Lord about.

  233. Being disappointed and so there are three ways.

  234. Let me talk to your. Soul, just for a second, and

  235. then we'll get to where? There are three ways things hit

  236. us in life. It's external, internal and

  237. theologically external. Internal theologically let's the

  238. instance of me not walking that day, external wasn't it came at

  239. me, did not expect it. Internally, I experienced the

  240. the onslaught of what was coming at me and it produced something

  241. in my soul. Does that make sense?

  242. Am I tracking with you? It produces something.

  243. Now, what most people don't factor in is how important

  244. theologically fancy word for how you view God, how that

  245. determines and effects those other two.

  246. This is why it's really important that you read your

  247. word. This is why it's really

  248. important that you study the word, because how do you view

  249. God? How do you view Jesus?

  250. Now let me just give some of you just the hey, hey, this is the

  251. way out. Jesus is perfect theology.

  252. Amen. All right.

  253. And you can think about that for a whole long time.

  254. Jesus is perfect theology. OK, so if I go to Jesus, learn

  255. from him because you're not following me, you're not

  256. following John Michael, you're not.

  257. You're following Jesus. Now all the other individuals

  258. follow Jesus and then we do this thing together.

  259. But you are called to follow Jesus.

  260. And if he is perfect theology, then he is going to help you

  261. navigate through life situations.

  262. All right, so listen here. Here's the deal.

  263. When things hit us externally, if internally something's not

  264. right, it will cause this, this, this spinning out in your life,

  265. so to speak, because you're not viewing things correctly.

  266. All right? So if you censor yourself, OK,

  267. well, here's Jesus. Here's one theological thought

  268. that I'll just send you home with.

  269. It's crazy some of the things so simple, but you could spend a

  270. whole lifetime thinking through this.

  271. Jesus was fully God and fully man Amen.

  272. What the world? What does that mean?

  273. He was fully God. So in the Book of Revelation,

  274. Jesus is the king of kings coming down in the with the

  275. White Horse. He destroys everything and he

  276. doesn't even need any help. He got people behind him.

  277. He he he wraps this thing up all by himself.

  278. Jesus is fully God who but he is fully made when he was on earth,

  279. and that means he experienced a whole lot of what we experience

  280. as fallen human beings. Now Jesus did it all without

  281. sinning, did it all without misstep, but he experienced what

  282. we're he experienced on earth. Are you with him?

  283. OK, now I have used that understanding theologically to

  284. get me through a whole lot of stuff because there are times

  285. where I'm like, Jesus is coming and he's going to destroy all my

  286. enemies. That's not where I'm at today.

  287. There are also times in my life when I'm struggling with.

  288. Stuff that is just real and I need the king to.

  289. Sit by me and help. Me out in my mouth.

  290. I need Jesus, the one that. Talked to his disciples.

  291. And said I no. Longer call you servants, I call

  292. you friend. I need the king, that is.

  293. Suffering. I need the king to help me.

  294. And here's one of the things and that that's helped me in my

  295. life. I hope it, I hope that helped.

  296. Think through it because sometimes we're like waiting for

  297. the conquering king when he's saying, I just want to sit with

  298. you, dear, and tell you how much I love you.

  299. I, I just want to encourage you, dude.

  300. You are doing a great job leading your family.

  301. Come, come to the King, Sit down with him, sit with him.

  302. Well, there is one thing that happened to me and I was, I was

  303. reading the scriptures and I had never come to Jesus with my

  304. disappointment. It's so strange to me that I had

  305. never come to Him with this disappointment.

  306. So there was something that I struggle with that I would try

  307. to own. Is there manly men in here?

  308. I like, I know it's John Michaels church, you got manly

  309. men in here and there's nothing wrong with that.

  310. I think we should be men. We should be men in lead, right?

  311. But there is things that we go through emotionally that we have

  312. to say, how do I, how do I work this thing out with Jesus?

  313. How do I sit with him and be like, how do I net?

  314. Well, one of the things that I had never done is I had

  315. experienced disappointment because we all do.

  316. That's number one. Disappointment is common to us

  317. all. I had experienced disappointment

  318. and I had tried. To get on the other side of it

  319. in my own strength with not it, without inviting the Lord with

  320. me, does it? Am I here?

  321. He and I was reading the passages and I came across Luke

    Luke 14 chapter mention

  322. chapter 14. Now in Luke chapter 14, we have

    Luke 14 chapter mention

  323. this situation that plays out. You can follow along.

  324. I'm going to paraphrase it until we get to our verses in verse 15

  325. through 24. It's the great banquet is the

  326. parable Jesus shares in Luke chapter 14.

    Luke 14 chapter mention

  327. Find Jesus. He's impassioned.

  328. We all right His like he is. People are coming after Jesus.

  329. He's about to die for the sins of humanity.

  330. They're about to hang them on a cross.

  331. It is Passion Week and people are coming at them and the

  332. Pharisees want to take him out. Like this is no joke.

  333. Jesus is, they're after him. He gets invited to come to a

  334. Pharisee's house and he attends. Jesus didn't run away from

  335. conflict. He ran into it and then went

  336. through it. He sits in this Pharisee's house

  337. and it's a setup. It's like Jesus come to dinner

  338. with us. We're setting you up.

  339. All eyes are on Jesus. Matter of fact, they bring in

  340. somebody that is sick just to see if Jesus will heal him on

  341. the Sabbath. Now, Can you imagine if you read

  342. this passage, Can you imagine being that sick guy?

  343. Come on, Why don't you come with me to this house?

  344. It's like, why are you inviting me here?

  345. There in this, in this particular issue, the guy is

  346. dealing with swelling of the body, like he's his liver is

  347. messed up or something. His body's not acting right.

  348. They pick somebody that's sick, they're like, come to this

  349. thing. All right, Jesus is there, All

  350. eyes are on him. Jesus says, hey, do you think

  351. it's lawful to sin and to heal on the sound crickets.

  352. Oh, they knew what they wanted to say to Jesus, but those

  353. Pharisees, they didn't have the courage to say anything to the

  354. King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

  355. He says, hey, silence. He turns.

  356. And he heals the van. It was so cool.

  357. I don't know what verse it. Is four or five.

  358. He heals him and sends him on his way.

  359. They invite this man in here as a set up to see if Jesus would

  360. heal him on the Sabbath, but they're all ticked off.

  361. Trying to kill him over Jesus is like, hey, if your kid fell in a

  362. ditch, if your oxen fell in a ditch, when you pick him up and

  363. he heals this man and sends him on his way, he's like, look,

  364. this party's not for you my friend, go ahead and leave.

  365. Sends him on my management being that sick guy.

  366. Come on, that's the best party he ever went to.

  367. And then he begins to talk to them.

  368. So then he says, I think it's he notices how the guests pick the

  369. best seats. You know what, I think in

  370. America, if we would just do this one, we would go a whole

  371. whole far away. Teach your kids this.

  372. Don't take the best seat when you come in a room.

  373. That's a McKee rule. Here's another McKee rule.

  374. Liters eat last. Don't come into the room and

  375. take the best seat. So Jesus is at this Pharisees

  376. party and he sees people jockeying for position and he

  377. says, look, this is not how this thing is supposed to work.

  378. If you come in and you see the best seat and you sit in it,

  379. then you're liable to have the, the, the person that's running

  380. the show come in and say, hey, look, that was reserved for John

  381. Michael. You're sitting in John Michael's

  382. seat. No, he says, the best thing you

  383. can do is find the the seat that is farthest away so that when

  384. the host comes in, they'll say, hey, why don't you come move up

  385. in here, right? And he's teaching them how the

  386. Kingdom works. He's in on in real time.

  387. That's how Jesus is talking in real time.

  388. He's saying this is what's happening.

  389. This is what should happen. Then he says, OK, well, here's

  390. the deals. What's happening is that you

  391. guys are just inviting all your friends to come to your parties.

  392. The best party you could have is if you went to the to to invited

  393. people that really couldn't afford to come.

  394. The cripple, the lame, invite them to the party.

  395. That's how a party's supposed to go.

  396. Then let me see if I caught it all.

  397. I think I did good. You can read it later if and

  398. text John Michael if I missed it.

  399. So then in verse 15, let's pick up in verse 15.

  400. Are you still with me this morning?

  401. OK, verse 15 when one of those at the table with him heard

  402. this, he said to Jesus, blessed is the one who will eat at the

  403. feast in the Kingdom of God. Pharisee ask this to Jesus.

  404. Jesus is prime. Teach them something.

  405. This Pharisee says hey, it's good to know and we're all going

  406. to be eaten up in that. Kingdom of Heaven.

  407. And what Jesus is trying to teach them is that the Kingdom

  408. is not only the Kingdom to come, it's the Kingdom now.

  409. And you can take that home with you like you can have the

  410. Kingdom now. Today.

  411. The Kingdom is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy

  412. Spirit. The Kingdom is at hand.

  413. And Jesus is trying to tell the Pharisee guys, you have been

  414. waiting for something that is here right in front of you.

  415. It's me. And then he tells this parable.

  416. Now parables are awesome. How many like parables?

  417. You should read all the parables.

  418. I think there's 37 parables that Jesus writes.

  419. They are really, really good stuff.

  420. So here's the parable. And then let's let's tag it into

  421. disappointment because one of the things I just didn't, didn't

  422. click with me was that Jesus has been disappointed.

  423. And maybe that's just for me right there, but the fact that

  424. Jesus was disappointed gave. Me, the strength to walk.

  425. Through disappointment and when I.

  426. Read this parable I saw. Keys to overcoming the villain

  427. of disappointment to being on the.

  428. Other side of of. Disappointment and it starts

  429. with this first one, Jesus replied.

  430. A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many

  431. guests. At the time of the banquet, He

  432. sent his servants to tell those who had been invited come, for

  433. everything is now ready. Jesus prepares this banquet and

  434. he's saying everything's been ready, everything is ready, and

  435. he's invited people to come. You know who he's talking to?

  436. He's talking to the Pharisees. He's saying you have already

  437. been invited. The table has already been set.

  438. Come then in verse 18 it says, but they but they all alike

  439. began to make excuses. The first said I have bought a

  440. field and I must go and. See it?

  441. Now let me just pause. Who buys a field and then goes

  442. and sees it? Right.

  443. That's a lame excuse, 19 another said.

  444. I have just bought 5 yokin of oxen and I'm on my way to try

  445. them out. Please excuse me who works at

  446. that time of. Day third excuse, which I think

  447. is the best. Excuse.

  448. There's still another said. I just got married so I can't

  449. come. John Michael would not like

  450. that. Well, what wife would not want

  451. to get all. Dressed up and go to a banquet

  452. that's already. Been prepared.

  453. So what Jesus is saying to these Pharisees is that you have made

  454. excuses. Now listen, I'm not going to

  455. harp these excuses because you're here.

  456. Today on a Sunday. Morning and you've.

  457. Decided not to. Use any of those excuses.

  458. But we have used all those excuses, right?

  459. So let that sit for a second as you encourage others to come to

  460. the. Local House of God.

  461. As you you know, it is so easy in our world to make up a lame

  462. excuse to not coming. I think Jesus would be more

  463. pleased that we were just honest.

  464. Yes. Right, so he.

  465. Sends out this this request and here's the deal.

  466. Like in ancient, in this time in Jewish time they would go door

  467. to door and invite you to banquets.

  468. So that means. Like they would, they would say,

  469. OK. Are the clerks coming?

  470. Yeah, we're coming. I'll put you down.

  471. Are you guys coming? Yeah, I'll put you down.

  472. I got you. I see you, darling.

  473. Your family coming. I got you.

  474. I got you. I got you.

  475. And they would get a rough estimate.

  476. And whoever is playing the church picnics.

  477. You live this a rough estimate on how many people are going to

  478. come. Then they would send out the

  479. official invite. So then the official invite

  480. would send up in your inbox and you'd be like, OK, then you make

  481. the excuse right. So Jesus is talking to these.

  482. So the so here here. So everybody deals with

  483. disappointment and how to overcome this disappointment is

  484. I need? I need one of those sheets.

  485. I had it written somewhere. Resolve, Disappointment leads to

  486. adaptability. It leads you to adapt.

  487. Now listen in this in this particular parable, Luke chapter

  488. 1421. Let's get there real quick.

  489. So they make the excuses. The servants came back and

  490. reported this to the master. Then the owner of the house

  491. became angry and ordered servants go out quickly into the

  492. streets and alleys, out into the towns and bring in the poor, the

  493. crippled, the blind and the lame.

  494. In order to resolve disappointment, you need to

  495. adapt to your present situation. Does that make sense?

  496. There's there's this in this parable.

  497. He was quick to adapt. He's like, OK, I invited all my

  498. friends and all my friends didn't come because they had

  499. lane excuses. Well, he didn't stay into in the

  500. disappointment. He adapted it and said, OK,

  501. well, now here's what we do. We go out and we invite the

  502. cripple, the lane. We bring them in.

  503. One of the ways to resolve disappointment is to see what

  504. the opportunity is. That is presented itself.

  505. In my situation, when I was talking about graduating, my

  506. daughter Joy adapted, didn't she?

  507. She saw the disappointment from Dad and she made a quick

  508. decision to say, we're going to redeem this.

  509. The longer you stay in something, the more it seeds in

  510. you. And I'm not saying you can't

  511. work through your emotions now. And everybody is wired a little

  512. bit differently. So sometimes we like to think

  513. our way out. Sometimes some people feel their

  514. way out. I get you.

  515. I'm not here to try to figure out who you are and how you're

  516. wired. That's insanity.

  517. I'm saying once you identify the disappointment is familiar to us

  518. all, Look for the opportunities. How can we shift this?

  519. How do we resolve this? How do we adapt?

  520. All right, now listen the the next one and I got some points

  521. there for you in verse 22 and 23, resolve disappointment leads

  522. to perseverance. Verse 22 and 23, Sir, the

  523. servant said, once your order has be done, been done, but

  524. there's still room, then the master told his servants, go out

  525. to the roads in the country lanes and compel them to come so

  526. that my house will be full. And everybody said, Amen.

  527. There is always room in God's house for more people.

  528. All right, resolve, disappointment leads to

  529. perseverance. Now let me just push a little

  530. bit here. OK, in all love.

  531. Let me get back into my love. Sometimes I'll get to the

  532. exhorting. Thing it's.

  533. Time to build some perseverance. In your.

  534. Life and the way that God does that one way is because we live

  535. in a fallen world and we have to adapt and we have to persevere

  536. through some stuff like if we could just be like, OK, magic

  537. genie Jesus. Last time I checked in the IMS

  538. Iams of Jesus, the seven Iams, there wasn't the magic genie

  539. Jesus. I am discipleship.

  540. Following Jesus is a process. We go through stuff.

  541. I'm here to tell you that on the other side of that resolved

  542. disappointment is a bigger, better promise on the other

  543. side. And there needs to be in the

  544. body of Christ, there needs to be this call to surrendering to

  545. Him and persevering through stuff.

  546. Because on the other side of your disappointment is

  547. opportunity. On the other side of

  548. disappointment is, is something that Jesus has in store for you

  549. Now, Did He 'cause it? I don't know.

  550. Some stuff comes externally, some comes internally, some

  551. comes because we're just hanging around people that are in fallen

  552. world. Sometimes we take on more stuff

  553. than we can. Sometimes we have an expectation

  554. of what we think God is doing, but he's going to do something

  555. different. Sometimes we have this, this,

  556. this, this, this, and this. Can I tell you a lot of things

  557. that I wanted to do in my life or had planned to do in my life

  558. have come out totally different. I mean, just been different and

  559. it's not been bad. But if I had a stayed in the

  560. season of disappointment, like if you're still in

  561. disappointment in this year, next year and next year, come

  562. on, come on somebody. It's time to say, you know what,

  563. they disappointed me. Call it what it is.

  564. A spade is a spade, but the blood covers it.

  565. And I'm moving on because we can't stay in disappointment in

  566. this in this regard, because there are people that are going

  567. to hell all around us and we need to get over ourselves.

  568. OK, That's as hard as I could go in the loving.

  569. Are you receiving it? Like so there's something in

  570. your life today. I'm telling you, Jesus sent me

  571. to you today. There's something in your life

  572. that you got to say. I'm going to set that free and

  573. move on. Yes, I was disappointed, but now

  574. I'm resolving my disappointment because just like Jesus was

  575. disappointed in the Pharisees that they were going to kill

  576. him. They literally killed him.

  577. Jesus came to save the Jews and the very people he came back to

  578. nailed him on a cross and insulted him.

  579. And we're so thankful that he died and he came back for them.

  580. You talk about disappointed, Jesus was disappointed.

  581. So it's time. It's time.

  582. It's like, OK, today, let's just break free of that mess.

  583. I don't know what it is in your life.

  584. Maybe you planned something that didn't work out.

  585. Maybe it's a relationship. Maybe it's something internal.

  586. External things just didn't go the way they were supposed to

  587. go. It's time to say, OK, OK, In

  588. order to have a fresh start, in order to see the new thing that

  589. you have in store for me, I got to let go of this

  590. disappointment. And I know in order to let go of

  591. this disappointment, I need to let you perfect in me something

  592. that is of you. On the other side of

  593. disappointment is strength, my friends.

  594. I mean, what is in you will come out of you.

  595. Can I tell you that out of the abundance of the heart, the

  596. mouth speaks when things are calm, You need to be putting

  597. some good stuff in you. Because when the storm comes and

  598. the trouble comes, what is in you is going to come out of you.

  599. And if you will learn how to mitigate, manage walkthrough

  600. disappointment now, when things maybe aren't so, so hard pressed

  601. on you, when you get into the situation, you will do things

  602. without thinking about them. All right, enough so he says.

  603. So my house will be full. Resolvement, resolve,

  604. disappointment fortifies your faith.

  605. It fortifies your faith. Now listen in this particular

  606. parable, and I hope you caught it.

  607. And Jesus shares parables so that we keep you so we can get a

  608. truth to it. There's always room for people.

  609. In God's house. And this and I and I love Salt

  610. Church because there's room for people to come here.

  611. Don't get to the place where you have not made space for somebody

  612. that doesn't know what you know about Jesus not being able to.

  613. Sit there because churches. Are known for being the screen.

  614. Door to what Jesus is. Doing in somebody's life and we

  615. can get on these other side of these seasons.

  616. And be like, look, my life looks a whole.

  617. Lot more in order than it did back.

  618. Then. But it wasn't me that put it in

  619. order, It was him. It was His word becoming flesh

  620. in my life. And if I get.

  621. Prideful, like the Pharisees, I will say my life is in order

  622. because I And then when there's somebody in utter chaos, life

  623. falling. Apart that could do your three

  624. things that you haven't swore for their life and it would

  625. magically get better. Struggling over there, but we're

  626. way over here and we're saying they don't have a.

  627. Seat at my. Banquet.

  628. Don't be that church. Don't be that individual.

  629. Jesus says, go out and get those yes, that are hurting and

  630. bringing in. What is Jesus saying in that

  631. parable? He's living this out.

  632. He's saying, Pharisees, if you followed me around, I'm the one

  633. that's healing that that man that you brought in here that

  634. was sick. Matter of fact, I've come here

  635. and I've poured out my life for the least of these.

  636. Amen. He's saying I'm already there.

  637. He's telling the Pharisees that's me, that's what I've

  638. done. If I was going to throw a

  639. banquet. And then he says this.

  640. He says go out and compel them. That word compel, That's an

  641. interesting word. You should look it up because it

  642. literally means to compel, to state strongly to convince

  643. matter of fact, there in, in church history, there have been

  644. churches that have taken that word, compel to the extreme and

  645. they have caused a whole host of harm.

  646. You know what they did? They looked it up and it was

  647. compelled. And so they define compel

  648. screaming and yelling and compelling from the rooftops, in

  649. the sideways and byways, in the bushes and hedges.

  650. Who, who hides behind the hedge? But look that, he said, go to

  651. the hedges. I, I, I, I'll think about that.

  652. Where are the people that are hiding?

  653. Behind the hedge when do? You get to the place where

  654. you're thinking strategically about how do we get people that

  655. don't even think about? Church to come here to come to

  656. him. You know what's interesting

  657. about this parable? Let's not come here.

  658. It's goad there. And a lot of times what we do in

  659. our church, the only thing is bad it's we've created a

  660. banquet. Come everybody and Jesus is

  661. saying go yes and compel. He's saying go out there and

  662. then Brendan here, he well, that's inconvenient.

  663. Jesus. Well, yeah, but there's room in

  664. my house. There's.

  665. Room in my house. This is why, personally

  666. speaking, I love. The church.

  667. And I don't just love lighthouse in salt.

  668. I love the church. Because every local expression

  669. of the church is an. Opportunity to reach people that

  670. no one else is reaching. I love the church.

  671. The Church is the answer in our world.

  672. Amen, but there. Needs to be this participation

  673. from the followers of Jesus. That say, you know what?

  674. I'm going to do things. No one else is doing to reach

  675. people that no one else is reaching.

  676. And you're only going to do that on the other.

  677. Side of discouragement. You're only going to do that on

  678. the other side where you're like, OK, I've learned how to

  679. manage my. House I've learned how to.

  680. Manage my relationship with Jesus and I don't I don't get it

  681. all right and thank the Lord because that makes that that

  682. brings me right to his feet every single time.

  683. But I am healthy enough to look out for the interests.

  684. Of others. And.

  685. Bring them into a relationship. With Jesus.

  686. So can you stand with me this morning?

  687. Again, let's finish the way we started.

  688. Just put your hands out in the act of receiving from the Lord.

  689. Jesus, we just love you, just love on the King, we love you.

  690. Jesus, we love you so much. You are so good to us.

  691. You are so good to us. You are so good to us.

  692. Thank you. I'm going to ask this question

  693. because I don't know everyone in this room.

  694. Jesus did for you what no one else could do.

  695. He lived a sinless life. He.

  696. Gave his life up for you so that you could have relationship with

  697. Him. Says in the scriptures that

  698. whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

  699. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and the reason why.

  700. Jesus is the. Only way while one of the

  701. reasons is because he didn't want to complicate things here

  702. on earth, some people are like, hey, there's so many ways to.

  703. God no, there's one way. And his name is Jesus, and so

  704. there's no debate. About it you.

  705. Can only come to God and the Father through Jesus, and He has

  706. paved the way for you to do that.

  707. And it's called the good. News.

  708. It's not bad news. It is.

  709. Great news and the great. News is that you have.

  710. Sinned and fallen, that's a bad news.

  711. Sin and fallen short of the glory of God.

  712. But Jesus did for you, which you could never do for yourself.

  713. He has washed. Away he has taken every sin of

  714. humanity upon himself, and he willingly gave his life, and the

  715. Lord raised him up so that we. Could have a relationship.

  716. With him and. All you have to do.

  717. It is so simple, is call on. The name of the Lord.

  718. You just say Jesus, I need you, Jesus, I need you.

  719. And if there's anyone in here today, I'm going to count the

  720. three, but there's nothing. Special about the number.

  721. Three, I'm just. Letting the Holy Spirit draw you

  722. to Him and today's your day. Today is the day of salvation.

  723. Today is the day where your life is brand new in Him and the

  724. weight of sin, the burden of sin will just float off of your life

  725. and you will be His forever. If that's you today, all across

  726. this room, just lift your hand up.

  727. Anybody, anyone. How many this morning?

  728. How many this morning? All right, my second call.

  729. Is that I? Know during this message that

  730. there is something, some kind of disappointment that has been

  731. tripping you up and Jesus just sent me with a message to Saul

  732. Church to let's not get tripped up about what God has already

  733. settled. It's time to move on.

  734. It's time to take the step. Today is the day that you

  735. resolve that disappointment. Amen.

  736. So if that's you today, just lift your hand.

  737. I'm not calling anybody up. I just want to.

  738. See a hand? If the Holy Spirit is there you

  739. go. I see those hands.

  740. How many more? How many more disappointment is

  741. coming to us all? How many more?

  742. All right, say this with me, Lord Jesus.

  743. Lord Jesus, I give you this disappointment and Lord, I pray

  744. and Lord, I pray for your grace and your love to overwhelm me,

  745. to overwhelm me in Jesus name, Jesus name and just let that go.

  746. Hallelujah. And here's my counsel to you as

  747. to you need to manage that decision that you've made today.

  748. Sometimes I put stakes in the ground.

  749. My family puts stakes in the ground and the reason why is

  750. we're saying we're no longer going there anymore.

  751. This is a new season. Today is a new day.

  752. And so you. Just put a stake.

  753. Sometimes you need to put a stake.

  754. In it and then move. From it.

  755. So Laura, thank you for lifting burdens today in Jesus name.

  756. We trust you in Jesus name. And here's the last call to the

  757. church. It's a call to all of us.

  758. It's a call to all of us. Pray this prayer with me, Lord,

  759. Lord, give us, give us your urgency, your urgency for those

  760. people, for those people that we are to reach, that we are to

  761. reach in Jesus name, in Jesus name.

  762. When I pray for supernatural urgency, urgency that had

  763. intention, urgency that was strategic urgency to reach those

  764. people that don't know you and what I pray for that seed to be

  765. distributed in Jesus name, in Jesus mighty name, in Jesus name

  766. and all God's people said Amen. God bless you guys.

  767. We love you. I love you.

  768. Thank you. Peace be upon you.

  769. Thank you so much.
