Freedom when it comes to material things

that you can experience if you'll put

your trust in Jesus you see what he was

communicating to them was rather than

being afraid of being without choose to

trust in God's provision and I mean this

is this is the master class on that

lesson to choose to trust in God's Prov

to give up the fear of being without you

know I think that's something that's

common to all people that we are afraid

of being without on our own we we are

afraid of that we're scared of that

we're concerned about that I don't want

to be without I don't want to not have

the things I need to pay my bills meet

my needs and all of those things and the

issue is not wanting to have enough to

pay your bills and meet your needs but

it's it's where do you look to as your

source for those things where do you

look to for the provision for that to

happen Jesus was saying sell the

stockpile that you've accumulated G give

up the trust that you have in your own

stuff and instead learn this way of

living where you trust in God to meet

your every need you see Jesus was really

calling them out saying rely on me learn

to rely on me learn to trust in me and

so when he told his disciples sell your

possessions and give to those in need

store up treasure in heaven and he says

the purses of heaven will never get

older develop holes I believe it was

because he wanted to teach them to rely

on him and on God's provision rather

than on what they had accumulated for

themselves you know I think just a

couple chapters earlier in Luke in Luke

Luke 10 · chapter mention

chapter 10 he sends out 72 disciples so

72 people who had been following him

around and hearing his teachings sends

them out to go and Minister and

something that's so interesting he tells

those 72 when they're getting ready to

go he sayso not take money don't take

clothes don't take an extra pair of

shoes he's saying just go and let me

take care of every need just go and let

me pave the way for you provide for you

while you're out there he's saying you

don't need to trust in your ability to

walk the path I have for you you just

need to learn to trust in me and I

believe that's a Freer way to live a way

free of the fear of not having enough

the fear of losing what we do have the

fear of at some point being without you

see when we get a hold of the

understanding that my God shall supply

all my needs according to his riches and

glory in Christ Jesus that's when we get

to this place where we know what Jesus

said in verse 33 of Luke 12 the purses

of Heaven that never get old or never

develop holes I've told you before I'm a

visual learner and I love that image to

have a a purse something that's

containing funds resources and it never

gets old it never has holes and it never

runs out there's always enough in the

Kingdom's riches the Kingdom's Supply

money bags that do not grow old you know

one of the things I love about that

phrasing is if it never grows old that

means there's always new stuff going

into it and there's always stuff coming

out of it isn't that true if something's

going to remain new then there's always

an inflow and an outflow and that's how

I see our life in Christ God wants to

bless us to provide for us to give us

everything we need and then some so that

we can do every work he's called us to

he wants and does Supply The Riches of

his grace that are more than enough for

every good work everything that you

would need but it's this this

understanding that there's a flow that

has to happen there's an inflow from him

that I have to trust on but then there's

an outflow that I have to act on you see

if if things only ever come in you know

what results is is a place gets stagnant

if there's never an outflow and it's

just accumulating and it's sitting

that's where things get stagnant picture

if you would a body of water water that

never moves that never goes anywhere it

stagnates and it gets it gets worthless

unusable you can't drink stagnant water

but hey a fresh flowing river I would

drink out of that all day long and the

reason is freshness is where life is at

freshness is the way of life and God's

is a way of life his provision is

provision for life for your life so you

can live the life that he called you and

made you to live do you agree with that

church can you agree with me this

morning as we prepare to give and the

ushers come forward we want a fresh

Supply amen I want fresh provision for

today I don't want to trust in the

things God's done in the past just trust

in what he's offered what he's done what

he's given in the past I want to pursue

the fresh inflow of the purses of Heaven

for today so that I can be part of the

Blessed work that he's doing on Earth

today can you say Amen to that church

let's pray let's put our faith in him

let's trust trust that he is a God who

meets all of our needs and we can rely

on him every bit of the way father I do

thank you this morning your word is true

you're faithful and your promises that

you do provide for our every need you've

said it and you've shown it in your word

time and time and time again we've

experience your provision for us Lord

and we're so grateful we're so grateful

that you always give that which is

needed and then more than enough to do

your glorious work Lord I pray that we

would be a people who are fresh in every

way fresh in all of Grace fresh in all

of provision fresh so that we can

receive and we can give so that we can

be blessed and blessed out of that

blessing so that your kingdom is

expanded so that your name is glorified

and so that people come to know you

trust you and be saved by you from the

kingdom of darkness being transferred

into the kingdom of your glorious son

Lord we're grateful for the work you're

doing we give you praise glory and all

of our faith and trust in Jesus name

amen we believe it we trust him for it

and so uh

amen Church uh one more thing before we

dismiss kids this morning I wanted to

say congratulations to some folks uh the

high school boys wrestling team went to

State this last weekend there were

several young men from our church who

were involved in that and so we just

wanted to say congratulations to Jaren

and Brennan Jacobs who made it to State

wrestling Marcus ball who made it to

State wrestling and uh we want to say uh

congratulations as well to the state

champ Brent denhart for making it and

winning the championship at state so

good job guys let's give them a hand

it's awesome to see young people

excelling in the things that they're

doing and so uh we just congratulate

them and their families it's a huge

moment huge accomplishment so good job

and uh with that we're going to dismiss

our kids to head to their classes at

this time kids and teachers preschool

Nursery 1 through 6 keep your coats on

there's still snow outside kids and uh

yes yes yes for everyone else who's

staying in with me this morning um I'd

invite you to open your Bibles up we're

going to we're going to be in a few

different spots

maybe maybe find Leviticus we'll find

our way over there in a little bit um

we'll be in John 6 and in 1 Corinthians

6 this morning um I've I've really just

had Direction had direction to speak uh

on a topic that's pretty specific and

it's something that in church we sing

songs about it's something that we

acknowledge it's something we we act

upon to remember in this church uh the

first Sunday of every month we take

communion and through the receiving of

communion we acknowledge the truth about

this subject um and I want to talk to

you this morning about the blood I want

to talk this weekend there's just so

much to say about the blood it's

probably going to take me more than one

Sunday to do it but I'd like to preach

about the blood and what the blood of

Jesus has bought for us and I want to

start by just sharing with you and I

don't know if anyone will relate to this

but when I first think about blood it

makes me a little bit uncomfortable you

know I remember early on in life you

know when I was still at the stage where

I was dreaming about all the different

things I could be I figured out pretty

quick I couldn't be a doctor I could not

be a person that had to work with and

see blood because it made me queasy it

made me uncomfortable it like there were

times where I would see blood and I

would feel the blood all like go out of

my head and so I don't know if anybody

can relate to that I'm I'm better with

it now I've grown in that area a little

bit but blood has made me uncomfortable

and I I think even so with church like

when we talk about you know the blood of

Jesus it communicates this idea a that I

think comes from culture which which

views blood as something that is only

you know negative or something that's

uncomfortable or like it's it's part of

like icky stuff like I was looking at

sermon Graphics this is kind of a funny

story I this when I started with this

graphic that we have today there were

Stripes all over it and I sent Taylor a

picture and I said does it look too much

like a candy cane and she said yes less

stripes and so we tried to fix it up

maybe you still think it looks like a

candy cane whatever but uh it's hard

when I looked online I was like man I

don't want to use any these Graphics

about blood because they all creep me

out like they're they're all kind of

icky

looking And so there's this thing about

blood that like it makes us kind of

uncomfortable you know another

Association I think is like with movie

ratings did you know that a movie can be

rated R because it's got too much blood

in it if it shows too much blood it's

something that people say oh that's

that's uncomfortable that's too graphic

that's too mature and so we're not going

to show that and so blood is something

that I'll give you another little thing

the other day Taylor she's been on this

Bible reading plan and she was in The

Book of Leviticus like chap 1-7 and if

you haven't been there before if you

want to read about blood go to Leviticus

1-7 because it's all about the

sacrifices in Israel and she was like

man there was a lot of blood in in that

Book of Leviticus she's like it's almost

too much for me I said well yeah it is

but you know blood was necessary blood

was required through the old Covenant

there there was no way around it if you

wanted to be redeemed if you wanted to

be forgiven if you wanted to experience

Covenant with God there had to be blood

involved and so I heard this stated once

somebody I was talking to like a church

person a Christian and they said yeah

you know the Bible's really not a kids

book and I was like what do you mean

it's not a kids book you know we have

all these Bible stories that are so

wonderful and so nice but like have you

ever thought about the story of David's

life man dude kills a lion kills a bear

kills a giant you know has has an affair

kills the guy of of the woman you know

the husband that she of the white woman

he slept with and it's like man that

that is not rated

G and so there are things in the word

that you know we have to acknowledge

because it's true and so much is built

upon it and the blood is one of those

and so I'm certainly going to try to

approach the topic of the blood in the

most tactful gracious way I can but

there is no way around the blood that is

in the Bible the Bible I I would say it

this way honestly the Bible is a blood

filled

book and that might mean more to you by

the time we're done talking about it the

Bible is a blood filled book because we

see in the Bible that blood always makes

a way both the Old and New Testament are

testimonies of the covenants that God

made with man and those covenants both

of them were only established Through

Blood you want to know how we got the

old Covenant blood you want to know how

we got the New Covenant blood blood was

required and it wasn't just any blood so

we'll talk about this today here's one

last thing I want to say before we open

up John chapter 6 so if you're not there

John 6 · chapter mention

you can turn there with me but as we

talk about blood one last thing I want

to say about you know are we comfortable

talking about this is this the word does

not desensitize us to the value of blood

it actually makes our heart more

sensitive to blood you see when blood is

treated cheaply in culture when it's

just thrown around indiscriminately in

movies it does something to our heart

where where it like it brings the value

down but the word is the exact opposite

every time in scripture where blood is

involved there is an immense value

esteem honor involved with that blood as

well and so as we look to the Bible on

the topic of the blood and what it

bought for us what you're going to find

is our heart does not get pushed away

hardened drawn away uh thinking less of

blood but it's actually going to stir

our heart to trust in esteem honor value

and love the blood the precious blood of

Jesus can you say Amen to that church

and so Lord I pray that as we preach as

I preach about the blood as we study

this I pray that our hearts would become

sensitive to the world work that has

been accomplished all that your blood

has done may we value it and see it with

the worth that you know it has Lord I

ask this in Jesus name amen and so John

John 6 · chapter mention

chapter 6 let's look at verse 53 it says

this Jesus says again and isn't it

interesting when he started talking

about blood this is where a lot of his

disciples left him this was after Jesus

would say this many people left him it

was because he was talking about blood

he says I tell you the truth unless you

eat the Flesh of the son of man and you

drink his blood you cannot have eternal

life within you so Jesus makes this bold

statement without blood without the body

you cannot have eternal life within you

now as people that are trusting in God

for eternal life as as eternal life is

one of the major pieces of what

salvation has accomplished for us I

think that's something we should we

should really be thoughtful of don't you

if he says without this you cannot have

eternal life that tells me whatever

we're talking about right now now it's

important it's needed it's valuable it's

required and so I don't know how

Christians could not talk about the

blood of Jesus because it's a

requirement to Salvation it's a

requirement to eternal life there is no

eternal life apart from the blood of

Jesus can you say Amen to that church

and so if that's true and Jesus isn't a

liar then we must at times talk about

the blood even if our flesh doesn't love

talking about blood where would we be

what would we have with without the

blood of Jesus well the Bible shows us

here that we would not have eternal life

and life is the very thing that Jesus

came to bring life could be the the kind

of catchall descriptor for what God has

brought us into saving us out of the old

and into the new the Bible says several

times when it talks about blood a

statement that says this life is in the

blood that's in Genesis we'll actually

look at it a few minutes uh later about

life being in the blood from a scripture

in Leviticus life is in the blood is is

a a theme and a truth that's echoed

throughout the Bible life is in the

blood and so without the blood there

cannot be life you know if you think

about it even in medical things if blood

stops flowing that's a problem can a

nurse in the room testify of that you

know if blood stops that's a problem if

we're having an issue with blood there

there is a concern about life remaining

and it's because life is in the blood

the Bible said it first life is in the

blood blood is a requirement for there

to be life and so there is not a way to

receive life not a way to experience

life not a way to walk in life apart

from the blood which contains life the

blood which transfers life the blood

which has worked life completely for us

to receive and so we must talk about the

blood in church the blood of Jesus is

our Assurance the blood of Jesus is

God's provision for us the blood is the

perfect and precious provision to meet

our need and provide for our every lack

the blood gives us life and so when we

know the blood of Jesus and what it has

done it's going to cause us when we

think about blood to have great joy you

know when I think about the blood of

Jesus it brings a joy to my heart that's

unlike most other things it brings a

hope it brings a confidence that's found

in the blood because I know what the

blood has bought and if you join me in 1

Corinthians 6 now I'd like to show you

just what the Blood Bought just what the

blood has bought it says in 1

Corinthians 6 we'll read it in NLT first

for God bought you with a high price so

you must honor God with your body if you

have an amplified Bible you'll find it

reading this way you were bought with a

price you were actually purchased with

the precious blood of Jesus and made his

own so then honor and glory honor and

glorify God in your body would you say

this with me church I was bought by the

blood I was bought by the

blood and now think about that as you

say it think think imagine if you're a

visual person like I am imagine yourself

being bought with the exchange of the

blood of Jesus and then say I was bought

with the blood just do that yourself I

was bought with the blood I was bought I

was purchased Jesus gave it to purchase

me there was this transaction that took

place where Jesus offered he sacrificed

he gave up his blood for the sole

purpose of buying you of purchasing you

I was bought by the blood of Jesus let's

look at how the blood was used as a

payment how the blood was used to pay

the price let's look in the word to see

what it says about that if you want to

turn now to Leviticus 17 I'm going to

share some things as you turn there um

Leviticus 17 we find this theme running

Through the Bible all through the Bible

from Genesis to Revelation that that

blood has always been and always is

needed to satisfy the requirement of sin

you know we find in Revelation the word

says the wage of sin is death what is

earned what is owed as a result of sin

is death and throughout the Bible the

way that that debt of death was always

paid was by buying cleansing or

forgiveness through the offering of

blood we could say this Blood was the

currency used to pay the debt of sin

blood was always the thing used to pay

off the debts I thought about this

example I found this file in my office

and this is like 12 years old now if uh

you walked in and enjoyed a donut this

morning you spent some time in one of

the last major editions that went on to

Alm that was that whole foyer area and

this is the stack of all the debts that

were incurred in order to build that

area that's pretty thick stack isn't it

yeah what do we have in here oh we've

got concrete we've got shingles we've

got tile we've got water electric all

that is in this stack of debts and you

know what I was thinking about looking

at that stack that heavy stack of debts

I was thinking about my life and how

every time I sin it's like I add another

bill to my debt load every moment I've

ever sinned I I was increasing the

amount of blood that was owed in order

to pay off my debts

every sin can you even imagine how thick

my stack of bills would be I'm just

talking about me Church be bigger than

that I can tell you that much every time

every sin there is a debt that is owed a

debt of death that is owed for each and

every person for each and every sin that

has ever been occurred ever been done

throughout all time that's a stack of

debt and Through the Bible we see the

requirement to pay off any debt it was

always Life Death is is you know the

paying of

life and the way that life could be paid

was through blood because blood life is

in the blood and so when blood was

offered it was the pain of life to

satisfy the debt that resulted from sin

are you tracking with me church and so

every person take it back to Israel long

list of debts long list of sins long

list of death that was

owed in order to pay and be redeemed and

so there was a lot of blood required

that's why the Bible's a book filled

with blood is mankind has a history

filled with debt filled with sin and the

only way for sins to be paid off all

through the word it was always the

requirement of blood to be paid and so

blood when it was shed and given and

sacrificed on an altar it was the

transaction of paying off the stack of

debt that was added up against them

because life is in the blood the offer

of blood satisfied that wage that

requirement uh owed through sin that

offering of life to pay the debt of

death it was given through the blood and

so it was always at Cost all through the

Old Testament you look back you I mean

if you want to go and read about what

life was like before Jesus it was always

at Great personal cost to the person who

sinned yeah every person had their

folder and every year they had to go

through that folder and they had to work

up whatever kind of payment they needed

in order to satisfy their debts some

people had a lot some people had less

but everybody was putting blood on an

altar to pay off their

balance I heard a children's teacher

yeah you're going to love this I was in

children's church one time and uh this

this awesome man who I love him so much

I think he still teaches in children's

church in Word of Life where I grew up

and anyway he said this one time he was

talking about the wages of sin his death

and he said can you even imagine if we

lived like that today every time time I

lie I'd have to tell my daughter hey

sorry we got to go get our dog and put

him on the altar sorry we got to go kill

your pet because I I just messed up and

we got to give some blood to make that

right again there's a cost great

personal cost and it wasn't just family

pets I mean we're talking about people's

livelihoods their investment for the

future what they relied on to eat and be

clothed all of that was paid out through

this blood that was offered and so it

was Central to the old Covenant that

governed Israel from Exodus until the

time Jesus came that blood was the

payment for all sin in Leviticus 17:11

Leviticus 17:11

we see this stated it says for the life

of the body is in its blood life is in

the blood I have given you the blood on

the altar to purify you making you right

with the Lord it is the blood given in

exchange for a life that makes

purification possible and so blood was

OD life was owed now God in his Mercy

instead of requiring every person every

time they sin to give their own life he

allowed them to make a substitution I

can take someone that something that

belongs to me and offer it in my place

give their blood so I don't have to give

my blood and so the offering of Blood on

the altar is what made someone

temporarily pure and right before the

Lord would somebody do anybody out there

have a King James a new King James

Version Bible anybody have that would

you just read out loud as loud as you

can that scripture Leviticus 1711 just

shout

it in the mountain in the street over

darkness and all our enemies shout it

for the life of theh is in the blood and

I have given it to you upon the altar to

make atonement for your soul for it is

the blood that makes atonement for the

soul it is the blood that makes

atonement for the

soul I want to speak for a moment about

the word atonement because to really

understand what the blood is all about

we have to understand what atonement is

it's not a word we use often in in our

day we talk about forgiveness and we

kind of all know to a degree what that

means we might even have an

understanding of what Redemption is

because you can you know redeem your

cans and get five cents back whatever

but atonement is a word that we don't

really use in day-to-day life but this

is what it means atonement could be

described as taking away or covering

something up it is to take something

away or to cover something up both of

those definitions can work in the Old

Testament atone meant the temporary

removal or or covering up of sin so that

someone could be outwardly cleansed so

that they could be considered right

enough to stand in the fellowship with

the people of Israel and worship God

once again but the issue with atonement

in the Old Testament is it failed to

permanently solve the issue it failed to

permanently address the sin and the debt

issue it failed to make people new in

their heart atonement it might cover up

sin in your life it it might take away

the Wage of Sin temporarily for your

life but it didn't really fix anything

we were still just waiting for the next

sin that was about to come there was no

newness only a covering up of oldness we

could

say and this is the contrast see that

was old Covenant that's how atonement

worked in the Old Testament but in the

New Testament in Hebrews 9:22 it says in

Hebrews 9:22

fact according to the law of Moses

nearly everything was purified with

blood or we could say covered up atoned

for by blood without the shedding of

blood there is no forgiveness but then

in 1 John 1:7 it says if we are living

1 John 1:7

in the light as God is in the light then

let us have fellowship with each other

and the blood of Jesus his son cleanses

us from all

sin so in the Old Testament they would

cover up sin with the blood of animals

but in the New Covenant we have a

different way of atoning of dealing with

sin and it's the blood of Jesus the

blood of Jesus doesn't cover up it takes

away all of our sin it deals with sin

finally for all time in our life that's

what atonement in Christ is for us today

you see Jesus became the Fulfillment of

everything that the old Covenant pointed

toward everything they were looking

forward to in the old Covenant Jesus

became in the New Covenant he fulfilled

the every atoning need that was present

through the offering of his blood

atonement is the work that was fully

completed by the blood of Jesus you know

when he was on the cross and he said it

is finished he was talking about the

work of atoning for every sin that had

ever been committed and so if atonement

means to take away sin Jesus was saying

on the cross I have fulfilled the action

to take all sin away from Humanity

Praise Jesus for that Hallelujah that

it's all done all removed in Christ see

the difference here's the big difference

well there's a few but here's a big one

a big one for us is that in Christ's

atonement we didn't have to pay the bill

in the old Covenant you were on the hook

better get your bowl better get your

goat better get your

sheep not not pigs they didn't do pigs

but get your stuff and get ready to pay

the bill cuz it's

coming but the difference is it says the

blood of Jesus which he offered freely I

I wasn't part of that decision were you

there at the Garden when Jesus decided

to go ahead and pay the bill that all

Humanity had accumulated throughout all

history I wasn't there but I thank God

Jesus was and the Holy Spirit was and

the father was and that his will was to

pay the price in my

stead he paid the bill for us you know I

had this thought uh something that

happened a little while after I bought

the house that my family lives in now um

I had purchased it and uh Taylor and I

weren't married yet so it was like I had

bought it and I took out a mortgage I

didn't have the money to just buy it out

right so I took out a mortgage I took

out a debt right and and and uh about a

year went by and um I was looking at

doing something with the house and so I

called up the loan officer you know the

guy that was servicing the debt and I

said hey you know I need to know about

this this this and this and can you help

me and he said well actually he says we

sold your loan we sold your debt off to

someone else someone else came and they

took your debt and I was like really how

does that work and they said well you

know you pay us interest now you pay

them interest and you know you don't

even know about it because it's behind

the scenes and I guess that's pretty

common I don't know about your situation

but that's what happened to me and it

got me thinking about this way I thought

man wouldn't it be great if someone that

just wanted to pay my debt off and let

me live in the house anyway would buy it

that'd be so nice if someone that wasn't

looking for me to pay them but they just

wanted to bless me wouldn't that be

great yeah buy my buy my mortgage please

if any of you are looking for a debt to

buy and pay off please I'm I'm up for it

I'm willing you know but um I had this

thought wouldn't it be great if instead

of buying my debt so that I owe you now

I owe you instead you bought it because

you wanted to wipe wipe it out pay it

off well really that's what Jesus did

for us Jesus sent in the payment to pay

off all of our debts he sent in the

payment owed you know to clean out and

forgive us of all sin and I have this

thought you know his payment is pending

and what I mean by that is is it it's

it's ready to go through for you for me

for every person that lives in the

world but for the payment to go through

we have to put Jesus on the account of

our life we have to add his name to our

debt in order for him to be able to

apply the payment to it it's there it's

available it's more than enough to cover

the balance but until we call out on the

Lord in faith and we say Jesus I Need

You I need what you bring it's just

pending Jesus he did he paid all debt

for all time but there are people that

live their whole life and die never

having accepted the gift of forgiveness

amen because that's what it is it's

forgiveness paid the debt wiped it out

you don't owe anything anymore for all

the sin you've ever committed but the

only way to receive it is in his name

it's not just CU I want it real bad it's

not cuz I work to earn it you can't work

to earn that it's only by calling on his

name by having him come and D in you and

you dwelling in him to be accounted as

one who is in Christ and receive the

benefit of Christ that is where the

payment goes through and it's an

immediate transaction amen the moment

you call out on the Lord and are saved

that payment

processes amen can you agree with that

can you believe for that and so if

you've called out on the Lord your debts

been wiped out can you just thank Jesus

for that thank you Jesus for wiping our

debt out thank you for making us cleanse

thank you for taking all that we owed

and settling it once for all time lord

we're so grateful for that this is what

happens when we believe in Jesus that he

rose from the dead that he's alive today

Seated on the right hand of the father

in a place of authority and power and

when we confess him as our Lord the debt

is removed from our account atonement

was completed for us when we were bought

by the

blood we could not be bought I had this

this little thought just kind of

sticking with the mortgage thing we

could not not have been bought if there

was still an outstanding debt you see

God's wise and he doesn't make bad

Investments God God doesn't take a hold

and take ownership of people where

there's other claim to still be made and

that's what it is you know you you buy

something that's still got a note

against it a lean held on it and well

now I'm I'm liable to that debt God

doesn't work like that God wipes the

debt out and so we are no longer owing a

debt to sin we are no longer indebted to

the wages of sin to the enemy who leads

us in passive destruction we are no

longer indebted to the former life and

the former man we do not serve a

secondary Master only the Lord who paid

the price for us can you say Amen to

that church and so any claim of

ownership I want you to get this this

morning any claim of ownership that sin

death or the adversary could have at one

time held against you has been settled

when we were purchased by the blood amen

and so we've been bought we've been

bought free and clear maybe say that

this morning if you've struggled with

sin trying to pull you back in if you've

struggled with the idea that you know

I'm I'm still guilty I'm still indebted

I I still need to do more to work my way

out of

this then believe this and by faith say

I've been bought free and clear I've

been bought free and clear the debt is

fully settled because Jesus paid enough

for us and so let's talk about what it

means you know I've been bought praise

God for that what does it mean to be

bought what does it mean to be Blood

Bought well 1 Corinthians 6: M you were

bought with a price you were actually

purchased with the precious blood of

Jesus and made his own so then honor and

glorify God with your

body you see Jesus didn't just pay our

debt off but he actually bought us he

actually bought me he looked and saw all

of us and he said yeah I want them I'm

going to choose them I'm going to I'm

going to give what's required so that I

can have them so that they can be mind

what does it mean to be bought I believe

one of the things it means to be bought

is that there's a transfer of lordship

or we we could say ownership I think

lordship is a term that probably works

better for us today but it's a transfer

of who's in charge you know when you buy

something you're in charge of it right

you get you get lordship you get

ownership you get you know I'm I'm the

master I'm the boss you ever gone

through it where somebody like buys a

company and there's a new boss in town

they're in charge now why cuz they

bought it you buy it you're in charge of

it it's your responsibility so hey you

know what if I've been bought by Jesus

my life is his responsibility now not my

own isn't that a good thing and he's

he's pretty good with the stuff he owns

he does a good job you know Heaven's a

good place right places he owns are good

things but it does mean this I'm under

new ownership if I've been bought by the

blood of Jesus my life is no longer my

own I have been sold to the Lord Jesus I

have been rightly purchased by Jesus and

so because he has purchased me bought me

I'm no longer my own master I'm no

longer my own Lord no one can serve two

masters that includes oursel in Jesus he

is the Lord he is the owner of my life

my body my my time here is his can you

say Amen to that church you know when

when there's a transaction there's new

ownership here's something else that I

think it means I see that it me means to

be bought it means that there's a new

plan often when there is a purchase made

there is a different plan or a different

intention for the the thing being

purchased you know I was thinking just

this last year I uh was working on this

little project and and I I bought this

like pull behind mower to do our yard

cuz we've got several acres and it takes

a long time to like mow everything on

our little Rider and and so I'm thinking

hey this will be great we'll hook it up

and then we'll just pull it and you know

we'll go it'll be good it's bigger than

the last mower but the problem is I I

bought this this pole behind mowa and it

had a broken engine on it the the engine

had like blown through the head or

something and the Piston was all messed

up in it and so the engine was junk no

good I couldn't fix it I couldn't use it

and so I get online and I'm shopping

around and I find this mower this like

John Deere riding mower and it had an

engine that was the size I needed it had

the shaft in the orientation that I

needed and it had some other parts on it

that I thought hey I could probably use

those and so I buy this riding mower

with no intention of ever writing on it

I wrote it up onto the trailer and that

was the last time I ever rode that

riding mower and you know what when I

bought it it got a new plan for its life

it got new intention new

purpose and that purpose was to tear it

apart and use it like to Frankenstein

the stuff in my garage together that

that was the new purpose for it and what

I'm saying is I had the right to do that

to give it a new plan A New Life to use

it as I saw fit because I bought it

right I mean no one would contest that

the guy that I you know sold it to me he

couldn't come and say well hey I didn't

sell it to you so that you could take it

apart and use it in these three

different things no I bought it so I I

get to use it

right when Jesus buys us he is now the

person he is the one he is the Lord who

gets to determine what the plan is to

determine what the purpose is I had

every right to do something different

with that mower because I bought it well

when Jesus bought us he obtained the

right to give us a different plan for

our life and I think about Ephesians

Ephesians 2:10

2:10 talks about the good works that

he's prepared for us to do since we've

been bought by him he's got a good plan

a better plan and let me tell you Jesus

doesn't Frankenstein Believers together

like I did with that mower his plans for

you are good can you say Amen to that

and so the good plans that Jesus has for

you are his to rightly have because he

bought us amen because I'm Blood Bought

there is a plan for my life that comes

with the purchase his plans are good his

plans are better than what I could

imagine and so you can trust God

plan that when he bought you it was for

a good purpose and here's the other part

I I see when we purchase when

something's bought it can take on a new

identity a new life a a new name even a

new identity new qualities new Truth for

it because it was bought you know I had

this thought this is immediately where

my mind went when I got this point

several years back I bought a dog like

seven years back maybe now this dog and

if you want to put a picture of him up

this is like the day I went and got him

little little English Springer Spaniel

he's not that cute anymore but he's

still you know he's a nice dog anyway so

I buy this dog and uh when I went to buy

my dog you know what they were calling

him buck doesn't he look like a buck I

didn't think so so I buy the dog and you

know it's paperwork it says Buck right

there on it he's got his identity he's

got his name and you know what I never

once called him buck as soon as I bought

him I started calling him Titus which is

his name it's what he's been called for

seven years so you can call him buck he

won't respond to it he he won't come

when you call Buck he he won't well he

doesn't fetch for me anyway but if he

did it wouldn't be the buck no it's to

Titus because that's who he is that's

his name and you know what any intention

that the past owner might have had for

him well the plan's changed because he's

under new

ownership you know the plan was I'm just

going to use him sell him have the

litter sell the pupp I've got a

different plan for buck

Titus and I'm still figuring out what

that plan is

but but the point being new

identity see the one who purchases is

the one who determines identity

amen he doesn't get to even if he wants

to be Buck he's not Buck cuz I bought

him no I bought you so you're Titus when

Jesus bought you he obtained the right

to decide who you are to identify you

and so why we say what he says about me

is more true than what I feel than what

I experience what I think what the enemy

says what my spouse might say what my

kids might say what my friends what my

enemies what ever anybody else might say

there's only one person that it matters

it's hot you the person hot you is the

one who determines who you are who

determines what you are why you are I

mean it's it's him and so we need to

know what Jesus says about us because he

bought us he's the one who has ownership

in our life and so when he says I'm

righteous well that's who I

am amen when he says I'm new that's who

I am when he says I'm forgiven that's

who I am redeemed reconciled restored

healed that's who I am because the one

who bought me said so amen and so we get

new identity new ownership and hey you

know when I hear that I've been bought

Jesus bought me my very first response

is I don't know if I quite like the idea

of being bought I don't know if I quite

like the idea of being owned by someone

else I kind of like the idea of owning

myself and the truth about it is this

Jesus gives you a choice he gives you

the choice do you want to belong to him

or not Jesus has never once made any

person through history forced to be his

he paid the price but if you want to

belong to him you have to call out on

him you have to confess him as your lord

as the purchaser of my Redemption and my

new life

Jesus does not make anybody belong to

him Jesus does not force anybody into

this awesome Redemptive

transaction but the truth is this if you

want to belong to Jesus then you have to

belong to

Jesus that was better than the response

right now I know that's a simple thing

to say but but really hear these words

if you want to belong to Jesus then you

have to belong to Jesus

yes I can't belong to me and then say

I'm his if you're going to belong to

Jesus you have to give into his

purchasing of your your life and we

don't get the benefits of belonging to

Jesus without belonging to

Jesus it's far better to be bought and

belong to Jesus than any other way of

life can you say Amen church I'm telling

you it is better to belong to Jesus it

is better to be bought by Jesus than

bought by any other thing sold out to

any other thing giving my life to any

other thing letting any other thing any

other voice any other person have

lordship in my life Jesus is the best

master the best Lord that has ever been

or will ever be and I'll say this this

this Blood buying was a one-time

transaction Jesus will not offer his

blood again he did it one time died on

the cross one time he's not doing it

again he's coming back again but it

won't be to buy with his blood it will

it will be to shed the blood of his

enemies there's going to be blood

involved but it's going to be on

different

terms there is one opportunity to

receive new life in Christ to come into

a kingdom of goodness and it is through

the blood of

Jesus one time is all it took to buy you

completely we're not on a payment plan

you and I are not a layaway item in the

kingdom of God he he paid the price in

full one

time amen

amen and so Jesus doesn't have more work

to do in you before you're his he either

bought you or he didn't it was either

enough or it

wasn't and I'm either his or I'm not

there's no in

between and the good news I have for you

today is the blood was

enough and it is settled and done and if

you call out on the Lord you will be

saved and you will be his and you will

be changed

forever made like him you see the blood

is it's not like a spiritual credit card

that we use to get things on earth the

blood is

citizenship the blood is

adoption the the the blood is is

connection to the

family the blood is is is what enables

there to be relationship ship the blood

is is taking upon ourselves the family

name of God the creator of all Christ

Our Savior and

Lord and so when we choose to accept the

payment of Jesus blood for us we are

transferred into this Kingdom of

blessing and goodness everything that is

brought into my life by the blood it's

not because the blood buys me more of

something it's because the blood is the

receipt that I've been brought into the

king Kingdom of provision you all get

that church I I don't like use the blood

to get more things I I I claim that

because I have receive the blood of

Jesus because I've been bought by the

blood of Jesus I am in the Kingdom of

provision I am I am serving a king who

has more than enough I'm I'm in

communion in fellowship with God who

heals the sick and so the blood doesn't

like buy me more healing it's the

receipt that I am healed it it doesn't

mean you know hey if I claim enough of

the blood of Jesus then the Lord will

come and be present with me no he's

present with me because the of what the

blood did 2,000 years ago on

Calvary the blood is is it's like the

confirmation email when you pay for

something it's mine now it's been bought

it's been paid for in full it's the

receipt that's what the blood is you all

get that the blood was the payment but

now it's the receipt now I look back on

the blood and say I thank you Jesus for

what you've done I thank you Jesus for

what was bought and bought completely

and bought fully for me our faith can

rest in the blood of Jesus can you say

Amen to that we can be confident knowing

that we're bought by the

blood I'll just give you I'm going to

give you one more point this morning if

you can bear it with me about the blood

I I want to talk about what what exactly

did Jesus buy with his blood you know

and yeah the the easy answer is US me me

he bought me he bought us yes he did but

what what was his intention when he

bought you what when he paid the price

of his blood what did he have in mind to

purchase us to be um you know we said

this already because he's the Lord he

gets to Define who we've been bought to

be you know it's knowing I've been

bought with a purpose bought into a

calling bought with a glorious plan in

mind so what does God say about why he

bought me with the blood what does he

want us to be when he bought us with his

blood well if we back it up just one

verse in 1 Corinthians 6 from verse 20

to verse 19 we get a little bit insight

to that says don't you realize that your

body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit

who lives in you and was given to you by

God you do not belong to yourself so

there it is again right he's he's the

one that bought me so I belong to him

now I belong to Jesus you can say that

right I belong to Jesus you can say it

loud and proud he bought me I belong to

him and I thank God for it it's a good

thing to belong to Jesus Us in 1

1 Corinthians 6:19

Corinthians 6:19 he tells us we were

bought to be the Temple of the Holy

Spirit the Temple of the Holy Spirit if

I can share a couple things about the

Temple of the Holy Spirit you know the

temple in the Old Testament was the

place specifically designed specifically

you know identified as the place where

God would dwell where he would be where

his presence where his his power his

might his love his his comfort where God

would be and I love this thought that

that's what I was bought for I was

bought to be the place where God's very

presence would be on earth is me you

know that's why God bought you so the

Holy Spirit could feel you and move

through you kind of changes our

expectations on the Holy Spirit doesn't

it Jesus offered his blood so that I

could be the temple where the Holy

Spirit dwells that's pretty cool to me I

like that idea that I would be the place

on Earth where the holy spirit moves

where the Holy Spirit Works where the

Holy Spirit speaks bestows gifts where

the holy spirit is carried and diffused

and shown to the world all around us the

temple is the place where God's presence

is second thing I would say about the

temple is it was the temple in the Old

Testament was was the place of immense

value in every nation any Temple was the

place where the most value was put and

we think about Solomon's Temple if you

ever go back and read about all the all

the gold and all the fancy you know

exotic valuable materials and the time

and the labor that was put into building

the Temple that you know Solomon built

some estimate that today Solomon's

Temple would be worth 300 billion United

States dollars it's pretty valuable huh

I've never seen a building worth so

much and God says we are that Temple

today we are the place of immense value

we are what God sees as being so

valuable that like we can almost not

describe how valuable it is the temple

was the place that that great value was

seen by the people Great Value was seen

by the Lord and I love the fact that God

chose to buy us instead of another

Solomon's Temple you ever thought about

that God could have bought another

Solomon's Temple he could have done it

again do you believe that I mean is God

big enough strong enough powerful enough

to build another Temple like that sure

he is sure could could he bless somebody

and make a way for the funds to be there

and give them the heart to build yeah he

could do that but you know what he chose

to buy instead

you what an amazing thought God loves

like that's how God sees us is that we

are his preference over an ornate

structure worth you know potentially

$300 billion covered in gold and all

these things but God values people God

values you that's why he bought you

because he loves you he values you and

here's the other thing the temple was

was a place of worship the the temple

was the place where worship occurred

this is what I've been bought for I've

been bought for worship I I've been

bought cuz God values me I I've been

bought cuz God wants the Holy Spirit to

dwell in me and among me through me

moving and working in our lives my life

when Jesus bought me is meant to be a

place where worship happens where

worship flows we we can't separate

worship from God's intention in

purchasing us we're the temple the

temple is the place where worships to

happen and there's another verse that

speaks to this in First Peter 2:5 kind

1 Peter 2:5

of another another side of what we were

bought to be it says you are living

stones that God is building into his

spiritual Temple so there's the temple

again what's more so not only are you

the temple but more even than that you

are his holy

priests through the meditation of Jesus

Christ you offer spiritual sacrifices

that please God and so not only did

Jesus buy us to be his Temple but Jesus

also bought us to be his holy priesthood

to be his priests on Earth you may not

be familiar with like the old test old

Covenant biblical kind of priests and

what they will do what they did then but

let me share with you some of the things

that were Priestly duties what it means

to be a priest in in the biblical terms

is the people that take care of the

temple that was one of the main jobs of

the priesthood they took care of the

temple you and I are bought by Jesus to

take care of his Temple to take care of

my own physical body which is now the

Temple of the Holy Spirit but also to

take care of the church which is the

corporate temple of God on Earth today

you and I need to care for one another

care for the corporate Church all of us

together as a body of Believers we need

to care we need to serve we need to

maintain we need to consider what we're

doing in our body and in our

interactions with each other because

we're supposed to keep the temple and

keep it as well as we can amen we want

to be maintainers let me put it in

another phrase let's be good stewards of

what God's given us Amen in our bodies

but also in our church in our

relationships with one another and in

the Kingdom which is all together the

body of Christ being the priesthood is

the reason why we serve one another in

the body we serve each other because

we're priests and Priests serve the

house of the Lord amen priests were also

those who were appointed to speak the

word they were those who were to know

and share truth with others they were

the representatives they were the spokes

PE people let me put it in another word

they were the ambassadors for the Lord

on the earth and there's another

scripture that talks about you and I New

Testament Christ following Believers

today we are called ambassadors of the

kingdom of God on Earth not not just

pastors and teachers in that lot but all

of us are called to be ambassadors for

God ambassadors for his kingdom and it

applies to all of us cuz we're all his

holy priests say I'm a holy

priest if if you came out of certain

backgrounds you probably never thought

you were going to say that but here you

are on this Sunday morning February 23rd

know this truth you were bought to be a

priest you were bought to be a priest

you don't have to look like what the

world understands a priest to be they

they've got some of that wrong anyway

but you know what God called you and

made you a holy priest one who would

maintain his house one who would preach

and represent and speak his word out to

others to point them to the Lord to be

one who studies the word shows yourself

who rightly knows and divides the truth

of the word of God this isn't something

that anyone else can do for you you're a

holy priest so your life has to be full

of the word so you can fulfill that

role reading the Bible isn't about

getting more of the blood it's living

out what the Blood Bought you amen

studying the word isn't to earn

something that the blood already

purchased it's so that I can fulfill

what God purchased me to be I like that

I don't know if you like that but I like

that and so we ought to be those who are

ready at all times like it says in the

word to give a defense for our faith to

be those who stand in faith and wield

the sword of the spirit which is the

word of God every time the adversary

comes why because I'm a holy

priest I have a place a place of

authority in the Kingdom of God in the

family of God priests were those who

would lead out in worship who would

offer sacrifices you know I I could

probably spend a whole sermon probably a

whole sermon series and I won't do it to

you this morning but I spend a lot of

time talking about the sacrifices that

we offer God the worship that we offered

to him and maybe we'll talk some more

about that another time but worship is a

central part to being a priest to being

part of this holy priesthood to offer

God things that bring him glory to do

all for his name's sake here's one more

thought about being a holy priest the

priesthood was the touching point

between Heaven and Earth you know to the

people of Israel they had to go through

the priests to get to

God now I'll tell you this today it's

not the same that's all right it's not

the same today as it was then the word

says there is only one mediator this is

in Hebrews it says there is one mediator

between God and man and that's Jesus

Christ but you know we're called the

body of Christ on Earth today I believe

the church the holy priesthood has a

role in pointing the law world to the

heavenly father I don't know where else

I I can't see or understand how else the

move of God the power of God is going to

be expressed in the world other than by

the people of God other than by the

priesthood the body of Christ on Earth

today and so the touching point of

Heaven and Earth I believe is the church

I think that's why he left us here you

know I mean if if there was no job for

us to do let's just go to heaven it's

better there anyway but no there is a

purpose for why we're here let your

light go forth and shine in the world

that by your good works they may see and

glorify the Father in Heaven go and be

salt expend Grace in the world around

you power in the world around you truth

in the world around you this is the

reality of who we are because it's who

we were bought to be amen I am a temple

I am a priest not CU I've earned it

worked into it or deserved it but

because Jesus bought me to be this amen

and so when he bought us he changed us

he defined us he led us to something new

and so know this today I am new I am

changed and I have a high and holy

calling because Jesus bought me for it

can you stand up with me Church we're

going to close and we're going to thank

the Lord for his blood that has bought

us aren't you glad church that you were

bought with the blood do you believe

this morning that the blood of Jesus was

enough for your every sin to pay that

stack of penalty of debts that you once

had church if you would bow your heads

close your eyes right now I've preached

this morning about the powerful blood

the precious blood the redeeming

restoring atoning blood of Jesus if

you've never received atonement in your

life if this is the first time you've

ever heard about something like that

that I had a stack of debts that I owe I

I I am indebted because of my sin and I

want that forgiven I want that removed I

want that wiped clean let me tell you

one time Jesus Paid the price for all

but he's waiting on you to respond if

you've never responded if you've never

called out on his name if you've never

trusted in him and in his blood to pay

the price for you to be forgiven and

cleansed I'd ask you to be bold and

raise your hand right now as a sign

between you and the Lord that I'm saying

yes today I'm choosing today to receive

your blood and let it do the completed

work in me to atone me to fulfill me to

make me right and forgiven with you

again Hallelujah if there's anybody that

wants that choice I ask you to raise

your hand up today make that choice I

see a hand I see a hand I thank you Lord

that their are Hearts moving to receive

your blood and to receive the complete

work of your blood in their life Lord I

Thank You For What it's done let's pray

let's all thank God together if you're a

Believer if you trust in Jesus if you've

been bought and you receive the buying

of his blood I just ask you pray this

with me father I thank you Father I

thank you that you sent your son that

you sent your son and that his

blood and his body was the perfect

sacrifice

for my

sin by the blood of Jesus Jes life has

been offered life has in full to satisfy

sa the wage of all my sin I trust in

Jesus I TR in Jesus to atone for me to

atone I trust in Jesus I trust in Jes to

make me clean to make me clean to bring

forgiveness Redemption and

Reconciliation into my my life I am a

child of God I am a child of God because

Jesus is my Lord because Jesus is my

Lord and his blood is enough for me I

thank you for the blood

Jesus I trust you I praise you and I

pray in Jesus name amen amen Church

Celebrate the blood tell somebody about

the blood this week it's awesome to be

bought we love you we're grateful for

you have a blessed week
