are going to receive communion as a

church and so uh here in just a minute

our ushers they're coming forward

they're going to prepare the elements

and once they are done then we'll have

everybody come forward and uh receive uh

please come up and take a piece of bread

and a cup of juice and then return to

your seats once everybody's back in

their seats we will receive the elements

together um and so we'll look at the

word we'll thank God we'll pray um and

and in doing so we will remember the

sacrifice Jesus has made for each and

every one of us and so um if the first

row once our users have the trays open

if you are ready to come and receive

come on up and get the elements return

to your seats um and then the second row

you can come up and so on until

everybody's been served so this time uh

please go ahead and come forward if

there's nobody in front of you then you

can make your way up but let's have

everybody get the elements and as

they're doing this let's just continue

singing that chord for us and as we sing

as you come just reflect on what God's

done in your life how he's given you a

sure Foundation that you can trust in

him you can trust his word you can build

upon that in every area of Life Lord we

can look to your word and we can find

help and strength and hope Lord in every

area of life we can stand on your body

and blood and what it's done for us we

give you

Your so thankful so grateful

God's we do give you praise today thank

you for your body thank you for your

blood and all that they've accomplished

for us you know church as we prepare our

hearts to receive the

elements and thereby symbolically

identif ify that we have received Christ

Jesus his body his blood which was real

which was physical and which was given

for us uh an in symbolism of our

acceptance of that into our life so that

we may live um as we think on that this

morning I'd like to look at John 6: 53

and 54 and over there in John 6 this is

Jesus teaching and pretty radical

thought for their day he says this I

tell you the truth unless you eat the

Flesh of the son of man man and drink

his blood you cannot have eternal life

within you but anyone who eats my flesh

and drinks my blood has eternal life and

Jesus says I will raise that person at

the last day and so what this tells us

what Jesus our lord and savior what

Jesus the way the truth and the life

told us and told his disciples in John 6

is it the only way to receive real life

life that lasts life that satisfies life

that's stains the only way to step into

that provision of God's life for us is

by eating and drinking the body and

blood of Jesus now we look at this piece

of bread that we're holding this morning

and it's just bread this is just a piece

of unleavened bread it was made without

yeast and that represents the sinless

nature of Jesus's body that in him there

was absolutely no sin whatsoever and so

when his body was beaten when he was

afflicted when all sin was placed upon

him in his Purity he was able to Bear

the weight and the price of the sin of

all mankind because his body was perfect

his body was sinless Jesus lived a

sinless life and so in his sinless body

we place all our sin and we are able to

step into Covenant able to step into

forgiveness which the blood supplies for

us but it's because his body was able to

take upon itself all of our sin and so

when we receive Eve of this piece of

bread what we're doing is saying Jesus I

trust that your body was perfect and it

was enough to Bear the weight of all my

sin so that I could live so that I could

have life so that I could receive of the

abundance and the satisfaction and the

blessings of this living this life that

you've promised me and so today if you

would Church take this piece of bread in

your hand and recognizing that Jesus was

the perfect spotless sinless man just

pray this with me father I thank you for

Jesus being sent that in his perfect

body all my sin was placed and that the

price of all that sin the death of all

that sin the wrath of all that sin has

been borne by Jesus so that I can be

free I accept life today received

because of Jesus body I thank you for

the body Lord and I receive it with

praise and gladness in Jesus name amen

receive that church

Lord we thank you for your

body thank you for that bread of life

which is all we ever

need and we look at the cup the symbol

of Jesus perfect blood pure blood the

blood which was able to wash us of all

sin wash us clean establish and seal us

forever in a covenant of relationship

and right standing as Sons and Daughters

of God this blood which is powerful this

blood which is in assurance for us we

are grateful Lord for this Blood this

Blood washes us clean and Lord it it

gives us a sure sign it gives us a a a

confidence that we are yours and yours

forever cuz we've been bought Lord this

Blood was the payment to purchase us to

atone for us to make us right in your

sight so church if you would take this

cup of juice symbolizing the blood of

Jesus let's give thanks for the blood

I'm going to pray and you can repeat

this if You' like father I thank you for

the blood of

Jesus which bought me as your child

thank you for the blood that it cleanses

me once and for all time it atones

taking off all the sin all the wage that

I once owed Lord you canel my debts

wiped them

clean you paid for him with the blood

thank you for the blood of Jesus thank

you for the cup Covenant that I have in

Jesus blood Lord I receive the blood of

Jesus as the payment for myself I thank

you that I've been bought by this blood

and that nothing more will ever be

needed I am yours forever because of the

blood of Jesus I thank you for it Praise

You In Jesus name

amen now in your own words just take a

moment and give the Lord some praise

thank him for all the he's done in your

life thank him for specific things that

he's done specific things he's cleansed

you of changed you into brought to you

provided healed saved delivered all that

he's done for us just think on that and

give him some thanks this morning

because it's it's all because of Jesus

without Jesus we would have none of this

wonderful blessing we enjoy so it's in

Jesus name father we thank you and we

praise you it's in Jesus name we hope

and we trust forever more amen can you

say Amen church amen aren't you glad we

have a savior aren't you glad we have a

lord aren't you glad you know Jesus amen

well here we're going to bring uh the

lights up this morning and uh in a few

minutes I I'll give you some

announcements and we'll dismiss kids but

before we do that we want to continue in

worship with the action of giving um we

do this every week at church we provide

you with an opportunity to sew into

God's kingdom to give and uh trust him

with uh with financial things with

material things you know if we can trust

trust God for our Eternal salvation we

can sure trust him with the things we

deal with in day-to-day life can you

agree with me on that I think if I can

put all my hope and confidence in Jesus

for my eternity then I can sure trust

him uh for for temporary things like the

material possessions money and these

matters as well and so um we just want

to give you opportunity to sew and to

trust God and give by faith this morning

if you need an envelope today I know our

ushers are picking up cups but they can

get you on if you put your hand up

otherwise we have some online options um

there was this scripture I wanted to

share with you today out of Genesis 14

if you'd like to open your Bible uh it's

pretty close to the front Genesis 14 uh

looking at Verse 18 we're going to see

this interaction between Abram and uh

this priest of god named

melkisedek and uh I love this story it's

the very first instance in scripture

where a tithe is specifically mentioned

now tithe uh we'll see it in the verse

here but a tithe means a tenth one out

of 10 and so we call that 10% and um

through the Old Testament the tithe was

something required of all of God's

people to come and give a tithe um of of

all their increase and then there were

other offerings they gave as well um in

the New Testament there is not the

legalistic mandate to tithe but one of

the things I love about this in Genesis

14 is this was before the law that

required people to tithe and yet we

still see the presence of a tithe uh

present in scripture and so this is

Abram it's picking up after he had had

this interaction with these Kings you

know back in his day it was like you had

these factions these um groups these

families and they would all kind of

fight against each other for land and

possessions and for people and so

Abraham he had this nephew named lot and

lot had gotten into an area that wasn't

really safe and these Kings had come and

they had uh taken lot and his camp and

several others in the towns that he

lived in and they carried them off as

like The Spoils of a battle and so Abram

he saw his uh his nephew lot taken away

and he went after him he pursued him and

he pursued the things that have been

stolen and so Abram he has this victory

over these Kings he comes back to this

place where he had been settled down he

comes back to this place God had

provided for him and this man this

priest named melkisedek the king of

Salem and the priest of God most high

and so this is this is a man that is a

representative and in this day he was a

mediator between men and God Almighty

and so melkisedek shows up here and

Abram brings him some bread and wine it

says brings him Bread and Wine and

melkisedek blessed Abram with this

blessing this is what melkisedek says to

Abram he says Blessed Be Abram by God

most high creator of Heaven and Earth

and blessed be God most high who has

defeated your enemies for you then Abram

gave MDC a tenth of all the goods he had

recovered I love about this interaction

a couple of things one is God is always

speaking words of blessing over his

people God is always speaking words of

blessing over his people and we see it

here with Abram this high priest of God

melkisedek he shows up and he has a word

for Abram and the word is blessed are

you Abram and blessed is God because God

has blessed Abram Blessed Be Abram by

God most high and blessed be God who has

defeated your enemies you see Abram was

in this relationship this Covenant with

God and the result of that was great

blessing blessing for Abraham because he

was receiving of the good things and the

help of God and blessed of God because

he was being glorified through what was

happening in Abram's life and that's the

same way it works for us today do you

know that when we're in relationship

with God we're blessed by that because

we receive of God's help of his

provision of his Blessing of his

Deliverance

but God is also blessed through being in

Covenant with you because when he moves

in your life and you give him glory it

shows everybody else that God is a

glorious God and that blesses God and so

he still works in that way today and so

I love about this what happens after

this whole interaction Abram worships

and he worships by giving melkisedek who

was the representative of God in that

area a tenth of all the goods that he

had recovered and so God does this

amazing thing God blesses Abram and then

Abram worships God by willingly giving a

tenth this is this is why I love this

story so much because often the

conversation about tithing in the church

it goes with the obligation to it it

goes with the law to it that we find in

the uh in the Mosaic law at Mount siani

and in Leviticus and through that part

of the Bible but here the very first

instance of a tithe in scripture was a

willing offering and I love that about

the tithe in scripture you see Abram

offers it willingly as a response to

what God's done in his life there was no

commandment melaz EDC didn't say you

need to give me 10% of that or you know

you're going to be out of the blessing

he didn't say that he just said blessed

are you and blessed is God what a great

thing you've got going here Abram and

what is Abram's

response out of this blessing I want to

give God 10% of everything that he's

blessed me with and so melkisedek he did

not solicit Abram's giving and that's

not what I'm doing today I just want you

to hear me say that I know when we talk

about the tithe people can be like oh

pastor's laying it on we're trying to

get that's not what I'm doing and

melkisedek didn't do that I'm not

telling you you have to tithe I'm just

telling you the scriptural precedent for

the tithe starts with a willing offering

and it starts with someone who had been

blessed by God who was in Covenant with

God and this tithe was a response to

God's goodness and I believe that's what

God wants a tithe or an offering or

whatever you might give today that's

what he wants it to be a response to his

goodness

and hasn't been God hasn't God been good

in your life about mix that one up he's

been good and he always is and so what

melkisedek did here in this statement he

drew Abram's attention to God's goodness

he says blessed are you and blessed is

God isn't God good and isn't this

Covenant you've got with him so so good

and out of the joy out of the Gratitude

out of the honor that Abram had for God

he he gave he loved God and so he gave

to God he had faith in God and so he

gave to God and so this morning all I

want to do as we get ready to give is

give you an opportunity to set your

attention on God's goodness you know we

we just receed communion and what a

testament to the goodness of God that

Jesus gave of himself so that we could

be you know saved and delivered and

healed and forever more secured as his

people what a great gift but I think

about other things God's been so good in

my life so many times that he's blessed

me so many times he's delivered me given

me wisdom given me strength healed me so

many times he's protected

me so many times he's provided for me

and so out of the realization of God's

goodness my heart is just moved so often

to give one other I guess reference I

thought to give you today about this is

in Galatians 3 it talks about how we are

the inheritors of the blessing of Abram

of Abraham is what it says later but

Abram same guy and so I just think even

there we see this connection Abram you

know he was blessed by God and so he

gave he loved God we are in that same

Covenant of blessing that Abraham was in

you know where God helps us provides for

us delivers us strengthens us protects

us it's the same Covenant he's the same

God and today we have the Fulfillment of

it in every way because Jesus has come

and given his blood we have been bought

into the best Covenant ever can you say

Amen to that church and so I'm I'm

probably preaching more than just a

tithe and offering message message right

now but you are in the blessing of God

if you belong to Jesus can you say Amen

to that and out of the blessing we

experience Walking With Jesus I just

believe our hearts will be moved time

and time again to trust him to give to

him to worship Him in everywhere we

every way we offer our bodies as a

willing sacrifice it says in Romans 121

And so as our ushers come forward I I

got to stop somewhere so I'll stop here

uh I just want to encourage you today

God is good and I believe he's been good

to you um if you take a moment as we

prepare to give this morning just

consider God's goodness and make a

decision that what I give right now is a

response to the goodness of God what I

give right now is an expression of faith

that I trust God what I give right now

is me valuing and honoring reverencing

God because he is worthy of all My

Worship in every form that it may take

and so let that be true of us this

morning that we give tithes offerings

whatever else it may be let's give it

because we have been blessed by our good

God can you say Amen Church let's pray

over this offering father I do thank you

for your blessing thank you for your

goodness just day after day after day

you're faithful to abundantly bless us

Lord spiritually emotionally socially

physically in every way Lord

provisionally you take care of us so so

well just like you took care of Abram

and so today as we stand in blessing

because of what Jesus has done for us

Lord we just we are aware of your

goodness and we're so thankful so today

as we give Lord this is just another

action of worship another expression of

our devotion and our love for you

because Lord you're worthy you're worthy

of every bit of worship that we could

offer every sacrifice that we could give

you Lord to honor your name we want to

do it and we pray that as we give today

just like mized said to Abraham God is

blessed because of what he's done

through you I pray Lord you would be

blessed you would be glorified your name

would be recognized as the only God the

awesome God as a result of what's given

today and what's done through those

finances Lord take your word take your

hope take your light and your life to

every place that this money touches use

it multiply it and uh Lord have your way

with it we pray these things and we

trust you in the mighty name of Jesus

Amen and we all say Amen to that as we

give today Hallelujah well um I do have

some announcements for you this morning

as our ushers pass the offering plates

um first one is is this uh we are this

you're kind of doing something new

that's attached to something kind of old

the last few years we've done a Easter

egg hunt on Easter weekend it's a

community outreach and uh that's just

grown larger and larger every year we're

seeing more and more kids and families

come out to the Abundant Life Ministries

site here to do our Easter egg hunt each

spring and so this year um we were

wanting to get more people involved with

that and one of the ways you could help

us put that event on one way you could

help support that specific thing is by

buying and bringing bags of individually

wrapped candy uh because the last couple

years we've packaged uh a thousand or

maybe a little bit more than a thousand

Easter eggs and uh this year we'll be

doing that if not even a little bit more

and so uh we need lots of candy to make

that event go um and you know you can

get a lot in a pretty small bag and so

if if anybody would like to help us put

that event on please uh just buy bags of

individually wrapped candy and bring

them to church over the month of March

uh we need it all here I think by April

6th was the date in the bulletin and

that's just so we have time to get it

all packaged but if you'd like to

contribute to that um in that way we

would love to have you support us and

then as that event gets closer I'll

share with you some other ways that I I

see our church being able to get

involved with the opportunity to just

bring light before people on Easter

weekend and so we'll talk more about

that as it comes up but if you'd like to

buy some candy for that event you can do

so and uh just bring it to the South

desk in our foyer on your way in uh on

some Sunday uh blankets for agape is our

next announcement we've talked about

this the last couple weeks we have a new

group forming at the church who are uh

just committing to using their gifts of

knitting and crocheting and sewing and

uh maybe there's some other crafty forms

of making things that I don't know about

but um we partnered this year with Agape

Pregnancy Center out of De Mo on Martin

Luther King Jr Park way and uh they for

every mother that comes into their

facility they provide them with this bag

of different items and materials and one

of the items they give every uh

confirmed pregnant mother that comes

through their door is a baby blanket a

30x40 baby blanket and they said it's

one of the biggest needs they have is to

just continually keep those stock

because they give so many of them away

over the course of the year and so um

Don Meredith came to me several weeks

back with the idea like hey we've got

some crafty people what if we made

blankets to donate and so there's a

group of uh some people that will be

doing that in the coming months if you

have gifts like that and you'd like to

be part of that please talk to Donna

Meredith her contact info is in the

bulletin and uh she'll be hosting a

meeting after church next week to give

more details and talk about how that's

going to work so if that interests you

get involved with that and with her um

it's kind of an exciting new thing we're

doing here at the ministry uh quick note

if you are on our missionary support and

Communications team your meeting is

today after after church out in the RC

so I know omega's been good about

getting contact info out to everybody uh

meeting info out and so that's happening

today just a reminder for those of you

who are uh one of our missionary support

team partners women of life is coming up

not this Tuesday but the following it

didn't fit into our bulletin this week

so I wanted to make sure I made a verbal

announcement about this uh ladies just

mark your calendar March 11th is women

of Life it'll be at Pastor Becky's we're

going to have you I'm not going to be

there you are going to have uh delicious

meal and I think Brooke minahan is going

to be sharing so you can all look

forward to that she'll do a great job

and it's just always a good time of

Fellowship I always hear about it you

know an hour after it happens and it

always sounds like a great time for all

of you I don't go but you can go and you

should go if you're a woman you should

go to women of life and uh the sign up

text for that will come out next Sunday

and so uh just be looking out for that

um one last kind of announcement and

then uh we're going to pray for a need

and then our kids are going to go out to

uh their class

uh come together lunch is today after

service and so if you don't have lunch

plans yet please stick around we are

grilling burgers and hot dogs and

there's a spread of some other sides and

so it's going to be a delicious meal uh

free for everybody we just want you

there to come and fellowship with our

church family so if you don't have lunch

plans yet plan on sticking around but

here's here's the one caveat for our

come together meal today uh the water

line from this building to the

Redemption Center has frozen and so we

don't have running water in in that

building so if you need to wash your

hands or use the restroom before lunch

you'll need to do that up here instead

of out there everybody got that I'll

make another comment about that after

service today but uh just know if you go

out and you try to wash your hands it's

not going to work so do that up here uh

one more thing before we dismiss kids

and get into the message today um I Got

a notification uh this morning actually

about Joe juel Johnson our sister who

she goes down to Arizona for the winters

she Winters down and she's involved in a

great church down in Arizona but uh we

got a report this week she had an

accident and fractured two um two of the

vertebrae in her back the t11 and T12

are fractured and I believe she's at

home she's being taken care of she said

the her church family down there has

like just really surrounded her and is

meeting a lot of the physical needs that

she has and I I think she has family

that are going to go and spend some time

with her and just help as she recovers

but she just asked that her church

family in Jefferson Iowa would be

praying and agreeing with her for

healing and uh that's certainly

something we can do amen and so we're

going to pray and agree with Joe for her

t11 and her T12 vertebrae that they

would be just restored and mended in

every way and anything else uh involved

with that accident that she would just

be made well that's the promise we have

uh in the Lord and you know we just took

communion the word says by Jesus Stripes

what he bore in his body you were healed

Joe was healed and so this is a promise

of God we can stand on with her and so

so let's just agree together right now

for Joe uh that the healing that is hers

in Christ is complete and done Lord I

Thank you that what was done on the

cross was finished and accomplished and

complete and more than enough what Jesus

gave for us to provide for us is enough

and we believe what your word says that

by his stripes she was healed and so we

thank you that by the word by Your Word

Lord she is made whole she is restored

that her T12 her t11 vertebrae would be

completely Ed any fracturing any

breaking would be healed by the power of

the Holy Spirit working in her body

right now in Jesus name Lord any other

symptoms any soreness any pains any uh

tension Lord any straining on muscles or

other things that connective tissue Lord

I pray that they would be fully restored

and healed Lord because she is your

child who was bought with the highest

price and Lord that price paid for

healing in Jesus name and so we believe

the word is true we stand in agreement

with her and Lord we give you thanks

right now that healing is Joe's healing

is ours in Jesus name and so we thank

you everybody just give God thanks this

morning do this by faith thank him that

we are healed that she is healed because

of what Jesus has done Lord we know it

is true we know it is so and so we thank

you like it's done because we believe it

is done your word said we were healed

she was healed and so because it's been

done by faith we receive it with

gladness and thanks and praise Lord we

expect a great testimony a great report

Lord we expect your name to be blessed

as Joe is blessed through this healing

we expect Your Name Lord to be glorified

as we hear testimony after testimony

after testimony of your power still at

work in the Earth today because you are

alive and you are powerful God we give

you glory we love you we pray in Jesus

name amen amen we believe that don't you

believe it Hallelujah hey we're going to

dismiss our kids now they can head down

to their classes out to their classes uh

it's a little cold wear your coats

please and everybody who's staying in

with me this morning if you'd like to

open up to this uh scripture we're

working out of on this series titled

blood bot uh first we'll be reading 1

1 Corinthians 6:20

Corinthians 6 verse 20 um and then we

are going to be jumping back to Genesis

here in just a couple of

minutes last week we started this what I

expect to be just a short series about

the blood of Jesus the blood of Jesus

and what his blood bought well we get

the answer to that question right away

in uh verse 20 of 1 Corinthians 6 and

I'm going to read this out of the

Amplified because it it gives specific

context to what is being uh addressed

here Paul writes to the church so this

is relevant for us because we're the

church today and we're in the same

Covenant same condition as the

Corinthian Church was then he says you

were bought with a price you were

actually purchased with the precious

blood of Jesus now the reason the

Amplified inserts that is because that

was the price that was paid you were

bought with a price well what was the

price it was the blood of Jesus the

precious blood of Jesus and you were

actually bought by the blood of Jesus

you were made his own and then we get

the encouragement the exhortation so

then honor and glorify God with your

body so last week the I guess two main

points I walked away from that message

with are that Jesus blood paid the

atoning price for us Jesus's blood

completed the work of atonement which we

said last week it's to remove to take

away or in some contexts to cover up

something and so Jesus removed the debt

of all sin the debt of all death the

debt of all guilt and suffering that we

had as a result of our sins he removed

that through the payment of his blood

his blood was the sacrifice that took

care of atonement for us and we looked

also at how we were bought he bought us

and that means we belong to him you know

if we were purchased with his blood to

be bought for him then well I'm his I

belong to him and what did I say last

week you can't actually belong to him

without belonging to him right and so

we've got some things about being bought

by the blood we looked at last week but

this week I want to look at another

aspect another part of what being bought

by the blood really means and I want I

felt led to really talk about this being

bought into the condition of

redemption being bought into the

condition or you could say the reality

or the status of redemption being bought

into Redemption what does that mean well

I want to start with an observation um

and this is just something I see as I

look at how people interact with you

know different parts of life is that

every person this is just my observation

every person has a natural desire for

the redeemed condition and that's a

phrase I'm going to be using this

morning the redeemed Condition it's this

state of being redeemed this state of

being in Redemption and so I believe

every person whether they're conscious

of it or not has a desire a natural

desire for the redeemed condition

another way I could say that is every

person wants to live in the experience

of God 's blessing and promise even if

people don't necessarily want to follow

God and everything that that entails I

think all people want the blessing of

God in their life all people want the

promises of God in their life I mean hey

don't don't we all want my needs to be

supplied well that's part of the promise

of God doesn't every person want healing

instead of sickness that's part of the

promise and blessing of God doesn't

every person want peace that's part of

the promise and blessing of God and all

of those things and so much more they're

all part of the redeemed condition of

the status of redemption you know I

don't know a single person on Earth or

in heaven that wants to be sick that

wants to feel guilty that wants to be

rejected or unfruitful people desire the

redeemed condition I mean if we just

look at the way our society is set up

why would we have hospitals if we didn't

want to be well well we want Wellness

cuz it's part of of the redeemed

condition why would we have friendships

in our life if we didn't all just want

to be lonely Well's because having our

relational needs met that's part of the

redeemed condition and so we see the

evidence of this desire all over us

people pursuing and striving and giving

and working you know I think about the

woman I think it's in Mark 9 maybe maybe

that's not the right reference but the

woman with the issue of blood and how

she spent everything she had and she

went to every doctor she could find cuz

she wanted to be made well again what

was she doing she was Desiring she was

pursuing the redeemed condition the

restored condition the fixed condition

and so every person desires those things

but I would even suggest this to you

every person at some level believes that

it is God's will for them to be in the

redeemed

condition I believe at some level

whether they would acknowledge it or not

every person really believes that what

is right in the world is to be back in

the redeemed condition what God's will

for them is to be in the redeemed

condition let me give you an example of

that if I believe that God's will is for

me to be sick why would I ever take

medication why would I ever go see a

doctor why would I do anything to try to

improve my health if it wasn't God's

will for me to be healed and well that

either means I'm disobeying God and

going against him I'm I'm a rebel or at

some level I really believe that's what

is right for me that's what is good and

that's what God's desire for me is you

know if God wanted me to be anxious why

would I ever do anything to try to bring

peace into my

life I believe it's we do these things

because at some level we all know it is

God's will for us to be well it is God's

will for us to be healed it is God's

will for us to experience peace but at

times we just go look for it and all the

wrong places we look for peace and you

know worldly things and I you know I I

think about stuff and it's like well let

me just distract myself by watching

Netflix for many hours well there's a

better way to get to peace and it's

Jesus but I'm talking about desire and

about belief in God's will right now you

know if we believed God wanted us to be

lonely why would we ever pursue

friendships or Community why would we

ever show up where there are other

people see at some level we believe that

it is God's intention for us to be

restored to be made whole to be redeemed

because all of these things and again so

much more they're all part of the

redeemed condition and what I I see as I

study the Bible is that the redeemed

condition is is the condition we were

made to live in and I think that's why

we desire it I think that's why we

pursue it and I think that's why we

believe that it's God's will for us is

because that was the condition we were

created in let's go back to Genesis 1

Genesis chapter 1 all the way back you

Genesis 1 · chapter mention

know to the beginning not 1 one where it

says in the beginning but you know we're

pretty close to the beginning in Genesis

Genesis 1:31

1 verse 31 let's just look at how God

created man to

live this is after God had created the

garden and you know verse or chapter one

of Genesis in Chapter 2 of Genesis they

kind of take parallel approaches to

describing different parts of creation

Genesis 1 just kind of gives you all the

facts Genesis 2 talks more about how Eve

came to be created and some other

specifics but we see in Genesis

131 this is after God had made all the

heavens and the Earth and he had filled

them and he he had made Adam and he had

you know brought Eve as a helpmate to

Adam through his rib and made her and

and so he's got all of this set up he

gives Adam his instructions and then he

looks over everything he made he's

taking assessment God's looking at the

condition of what he made and what he

says is that he saw it was very good it

was very good and evening p and morning

came marking the sixth day so at the end

of this sixth day after everything had

been created God looks at the condition

of all creation and he said it is very

good and so let me tell you this if

something is not very good it is not

part of the condition God created the

world

in come on that's Doctrine that'll set

some people free if it is not very good

then it's not part of God's initial

created Condition it's not how he made

the world to work you see the reason the

world is the way it is today it's

because well God made it very good but

then it was corrupted through sin and

death and destruction and that's not

really the emphasis of what I want to

teach on this morning but I think it's

important to know that as we look back

the world started as very good man's

condition started as very good you know

what that tells me Adam in the garden

Adam walked in healing Adam walked in

wisdom Adam walked in peace Adam walked

with you know relationships needs being

met and fulfilled in his life Adam

walked with Clarity of Mind Adam walked

without fear Adam walked without guilt

without shame come on I mean they were

walking around naked and they didn't

think anything about it what is that

that is a very good now I'm not saying

you should do that today but what I'm

saying is Adam was in this perfectly

created condition there were no problems

there was no sin there was nothing wrong

with it it was very good that's how God

designed us to live isn't that

interesting and isn't that different

than what we're born into today it

wouldn't it be different if we were born

into the Garden of Eden which was very

good no we're born into a world we're

born into hospitals that are full of you

know people that are hurting and broken

and sick I mean we're born into places

where there's great need and great lack

and then through our life you know we

see it put in front of us we hear it in

every country song we all of this stuff

it's like the world's in a rough

condition the world's in rough shape

right and we want something different

because we were made for something

different come on Amen we were made for

something different what is that well

today I'm calling it the redeemed

condition the redeemed

condition because we don't start life in

that condition but praise God through

what Jesus has done through his buying

us in the blood we are brought back into

that condition of wholeness brought back

into that condition of blessing

and so when Adam and Eve ate the fruit

of the tree of the knowledge of Good and

Evil they took on this this debt they

took on this sin they took on a curse

and we're going to talk a little bit

this morning about curses and so when

they took a curse on them from

sin they lost this condition this

perfect very good

condition and what we what I hope you

find in this message today is that Jesus

brings us back into that condition Jesus

redeems us buys us back into that

condition so let's talk about this word

Redemption for a minute okay so if I'm

if I'm doing points this morning Point

number one is we w we all want

Redemption everybody wants Redemption

that's Point number one this morning

here's Point number two for you what

does redemption mean what does it really

mean you know we see this idea of

redemption put in front of us in media

in movies in stories that we hear and

often the story of redemption in Media

is when a villain you know finally sees

the error of their ways and they make

great sacrifices they go to Great

Lengths to make amends for all the

wrongs that they've done right I mean

you you you've seen like Ebenezer

Scrooge there he is making Redemption

I've have done all this wrong I've

broken all these Christmas dreams and

now I'm going to try to make it all

right there's this Powerful movie from

the World War II period called

Schindler's List and it's about this man

Oscar Schindler who was a Nazi and then

he came to know all these Jews and he

began rescuing them what is that well

society would call that Redemption all

right here's one for for all my sci-fi

people Darth Vader like ultimate

Redemption story right he's destroying

all the bad people and then at the end

he sacrifices his life so that he can

save you know his son from Death at the

emperor anyway I'm not here to talk

about Star Wars this morning I'm here to

talk about Redemption so this is the

world's picture of Redemption bad person

does bad things and eventually they try

to make up for it with some you know big

grandiose sacrifice they sacrific

themselves to make up for past wrongs I

would actually say the world's idea of

redemption is probably closer to

atonement it's when all of these wrongs

are covered up or they're taken away but

if we look at the Biblical word for

Redemption what does the Bible say

redemption is well it paints this this

picture of something that had been lost

something that had been sold something

that was indebted to another being

bought back into the possession of who

it should belong to it is the buying

back of someone or something for for

benefit so gaining possession of

something and exchange for a payment you

know to buy freedom to cancel a debt um

to clear it out I mean it's closely

related to atonement but it's really

this action of purchasing and and buying

into a new condition into a new

condition and I think about in the Old

Testament you know they had lands that

were dispersed into different families

so every tribe had its lands and they

were supposed to belong to that tribe

like forever but if someone came on hard

times they could sell part of their land

off to someone else and that person

could buy it but then every so often

there would be an opportunity to buy it

back into the family and what is that

that's a Redemption I'm bringing it back

to what it should be I'm bringing it

back into its right State you know I

think about can redemption we all have

experienced that you know you pay the

extra nickel for every can you buy of

pop and then what you take all those

cans in so that you can get your money

back I'm bringing it back to where it

should be into my pocket instead of the

you know the the can companies because

they have the metal or whatever it's

this buying back that's what Redemption

really is it's to purchase back into

ownership back into a right condition

and so the redeemed condition as we

think about that phrase the redeemed

Condition it's one of restoration to

God's plan and intent for us it is to

come back into this way of life back

into this way of blessing it's to be

bought back in to what God meant for us

to live in and so it is freedom from a

curse of sin's debt it is access and

Assurance of God's blessing and his

promise you know we could say it like

this the blood it buys us out of cursing

and buys us into blessing and that's

Redemption that's at least as I see it

as I understand it that's what

Redemption is it's to buy out of

something that's bad and bu into

something that's good do you all see

that with me this morning and so Jesus

through paying his blood bought us out

of cursing and into blessing in

Ephesians 1:7 it says he is so rich in

Ephesians 1:7

kindness and Grace that he purchased our

freedom with the blood of his son and

forgave our sins other translations will

read and they will say he redeemed us

with the blood of his son and so what is

that Redemption well it's to purchase us

out of sin and into life out of cursing

and into blessing this is what

Redemption is and so spiritually

speaking Redemption is only available

through the blood of Jesus it's only his

blood that can buy us out of a lifetime

of Slavery to sin and darkness it's only

his blood that can bring us into the

Glorious care and plan of God the blood

is what bought us into this redeemed

condition and this is what Jesus was

talking about I believe when he said in

John 10:10 I've come that they may have

John 10:10

life and life more abundantly this life

more abundantly that's the redeemed

condition and Jesus came so that we

could be bought into life into Abundant

Life well that's Redemption he wants to

buy us into the redeemed condition and

he knew that that life had to be paid

for so that people could have it they

would need to be bought into it and so

the reality is this and and this is not

something that you hear in every church

and every doctrinal position but by

Grace we know this is true if you've

been bought by the blood of Jesus you

have a different condition a different

status a different position today than

you did before you are no longer someone

who is cursed unredeemed broken a sinner

but instead you have been brought into

being blessed brought into Redemption

into healing into

salvation you see our condition has

changed it's it's the most most amazing

change is when we Are Born Again by

Jesus everything about who we were

changes and we take on this whole new

condition that is in agreement with

God's original intention for us and so

it might not always feel that way I'll

say that I don't wake up every morning

and and feel like you know I am healed I

don't wake up every morning and feel

like I'm a saint I don't wake up every

morning and immediately feel

blessed like when Judah walks in in the

morning morning and he yells and throws

a toy on the bed I don't immediately

feel the most blessed but you know what

I am blessed

nonetheless and if I continue to think

on the

word my feelings will come into

agreement with what the truth is my

condition has changed from one that was

broken and cursed to one that is healed

and is blessed Jesus Through the payment

of his blood has taken us out of cursing

and positioned us into a condition of

blessing most of us

would not say that we're

cursed but sometimes we live accepting

things as if we were you know we're

going to look in a minute at the cursed

condition and I guess what I'm trying to

communicate with that thought is we

might not see ourselves as being cursed

but there are times where we are quick

to accept part of the curse instead of

expecting the Blessed condition the

redeemed condition because we grew up in

a world we came to know a world where

you know we we weren't redeemed yet and

we got familiar with this way of the

unredeemed world sometimes we can be

quick to accept things of the unredeemed

world but the truth is this our

condition has changed and so we should

not ever accept any part of the curse

because we've been redeemed from the

curse let's look at this in Galatians 3

uh verse 10 we're going to look at some

scriptures about the cursing and being

redeemed from the curse you know I found

out when I was younger that a curse is

pretty serious business uh When We Were

Young growing up my brother Max and I we

would play and we had these uh Toy Story

costumes and so I I think I was Buzz

Lightyear and he had a Woody costume and

I think at one point we had a zerg

costume as well which was that was the

bad guy in Toy Story and he never had a

Redemption story he was always bad and

so Zerg you know we're playing Buzz

Lighty you're and Zerg one day and I'm

buzz liyer and you know the thing that

on Toy Story Buzz would always say or

Zerg would always say it was curse you

Buzz Lightyear and so we're playing this

game and I guess I've got it flipped

around I think maybe I was Zerg and Max

was bug buzz anyway we're running around

playing and Max like you know got me or

whatever the game was and and so I

shouted out and I said curse you and

then I said his name I'm not going to

say it because curses are serious

business and my mom was like two rooms

away and she heard me yell curse you and

then my brother's name and she was like

on me like a fly on honey she was there

immediately to say no you do not ever

say that and so you know I I had to wash

my mouth out with soap and then we

opened up the dictionary and it was like

what does curse mean look up the word

curse and tell me tell me what it means

and so I did that again the definition

of curse is to invoke a supernatural

power to inflict harm or punishment

that's pretty serious business huh power

Beyond Myself causing harm or punishment

to befall you so she said is that what

we want for each other no okay well

don't ever say it again so I never I

never said it again still haven't said

it again so curses are serious business

curses will will plague you will harm

you will just Rob from you and this is

what Galatians 31-13 says about the

curse this is good news those who depend

on the law to make them right with God

are under his curse for scriptures say

cursed is everyone who does not observe

and Obey all the Commandments that are

written in God's book of the law so

let's pause there before we go to verse

11 just so we all know what group we're

in every single person has at one time

not observed or followed all the

Commandments in the book of the law you

know how many Commandments are in the

book of the law

613 some of you were thinking 10 there's

a lot more than what you realize and all

of us fall short of them at some time

you know when uh JP dur runs was here uh

back in the fall he he went through kind

of this old evangelism trick and he said

let's just see who's a sinner in here

who's ever lied don't raise your hands

he goes who's ever cheated on something

don't raise your hand hands and he might

have had something else every person's

fallen short of the glory of God every

person has sinned and so according to

what the Bible says cursed is everyone

who does not observe and Obey all the

commands that are written in God's book

of the law so that's kind of bad news

isn't it what does that tell us it it

says every person on their own standing

is in the unredeemed or we could say

cursed condition but here's the good

news for you if we keep going so clear

is it that no one can be made right with

God by trying to keep the law for the

scripture says it's through faith that a

righteous person has to live verse 12 is

where it gets really good this way of

faith is very different from the way of

the law which says it's through obeying

the law that a person has life and so

it's not through obeying the law that we

experience the life and the blessing no

in verse 13 it says Christ has rescued

or other translations will say Christ

has redeemed us he has bought us out of

he has brought us into blessing rather

than cursing he has rescued us from the

curse pronounced by the law say this

Christ redeemed me from the

curse that's what the redeemed condition

is being brought out of curse and into

blessing Christ has redeemed us from the

curse pronounced by the law when he was

hung on the tree he took upon himself

the curse for our wrongdoing for it is

written in the scriptures cursed is

everyone who is hung on a tree all of us

at one time were stuck under the cursed

we were all in the cursed condition

before we were in the redeemed condition

we were in the cursed condition this is

what our efforts this is what our trying

leads to is cursing because every person

falls short of the law no one can be

made right by trying to keep the law and

that means through our efforts we are

doomed to an eternity of staying in the

cursed condition but by faith in the

blood of Jesus we've been bought out of

cursing and brought into blessing see

faith is not earning something through

obedience faith is trusting and being

assured of it is knowing in our heart

that Christ has bought me with his blood

that I have been redeemed by the blood

of Jesus out of the curse and into New

Life faith is this assurance of the

unseen reality I haven't seen the blood

of Jesus with my own two eyes but I know

that it was paid for me I haven't seen

my myself spiritually go from cursing

into blessing but I know that it's

happened how by faith because I hear the

word I believe the word I receive the

word I trust the word and so I know that

I've been brought into Redemption by

Christ's payment of blood reinforcing

this in Romans 3:25 it says for God

Romans 3:25

presented Jesus as a sacrifice for sin

people people are made right with God

when they believe that Jesus sacrificed

his life shedding his blood this

sacrifice shows that God was being fair

when he held back and did not punish

those who were sinning in times past the

only way to experience the results of

blessing and freedom from cursing is to

walk by faith in the blood of Jesus it's

only by having faith by believing that

Jesus sacrificed his life shedding his

blood it's the only way to come out of

the curse and into the the blessing of

God and so to be assured and live from

the reality that Jesus bought me he

redeemed me he rescued me this is how we

live in the new condition and I guess I

I want to say this this morning it's

important that you

realize if you've trusted in Jesus this

is true whether you know it or not

whether whether you feel it or not

whether you experience it every day or

not but walking by faith is how we walk

in blessing you see if if

I have been redeemed from the curse of

the law but I don't believe or or I

won't I won't trust the fullness of that

promise I'm going to miss out on some of

the blessing I'm going to miss out on

some of the freedom of cursing of the

curse if I won't put my faith in Jesus

day by day if I won't trust him and rely

on his word and stand with faith in what

he says then I will miss out on some of

the life walked out free of curse you

see if we look at what the curse

entailed and we're not going to go all

through it today but in Deuteronomy 28

the curse of the law is made plain and

here are just some of the things listed

in that curse confusion frustration

destruction diseases fever inflammation

drought defeat tumor scurvy itching

Madness blindness Panic oppression

losing everything you own having

everything taken by your enemies Exile

lackluster Harvest doesn't that sound

like a bundle of fun no it does

not this is what we've been rescued from

this is what we've been bought out of

we've been bought into the blessing

which is opposite of all of these

things but you see we experience the

blessing of God living by faith you see

if we just live by sight and we're

living in a world that's full of curse

then we're going to run into curse at

times I have in those moments a decision

will I revert back to my unredeemed

condition will I deal with this in my

unredeemed understanding will I fall

back into the habits and methods of life

that I once knew or will I trust that

the blood of Jesus has redeemed me from

the curse will I say when the curse

shows up in my life I have been bought

out of that I don't accept fever today

I've been bought out of that this

inflammation has to go away because I'm

no longer cursed I've been bought out

I've been bought into Freedom I've been

bought bought into Deliverance how about

confusion how often do we just put up

with confusion in life I'm just speaking

about myself but I let it go a lot

longer than it should well if it's part

of the curse I don't want anything to do

with that and this is what I meant

earlier when I said sometimes we

tolerate parts parts of the curse but we

shouldn't you know Jesus is his

Redemption is not partial this might be

the best thing I say All Day Jesus

Redemption is not a partial Redemption

it is all or

nothing you're either redeemed or you're

not amen either the blood took care of

all the curse or it took care of none of

the curse so which is it going to

be and I mean if it's not all or nothing

then the Bible's full of lies and it's

not I hope this isn't too dogmatic for

anybody this morning but man there's

such a life of Freedom available to us

if we will just come to the position

where I reject the curse every day of my

life how much better we would live if we

every time part of that curse showed up

we said no I reject it I refuse it

because I've been bought by the blood of

Jesus his blood bought me a better life

than this I haven't done it I didn't

earn it but he did oh I this is too good

not to say you see we don't get what we

deserve we get what Jesus Paid for amen

I don't get the life I deserve because I

deserve a curse none of us like saying

that but according to the word it's

true because I haven't kept the law

that's what I've earned but I don't get

what I deserve I get what Jesus Paid for

Hallelujah I haven't earned healing but

Jesus paid for it so I'm sure going to

receive it you know I think about every

time I go to my parents house they live

down in Winstead it's hour and 10

minutes away so we get down there pretty

often every time I go to their house I

gain five

lbs it's the truth every time sometimes

I'm like no I don't want to go I just

got back down to this way anyway we go

down there and I eat everything that I

see not every I eat a lot though and you

know what the whole time I I don't think

even once about what it cost them to buy

all that food I just enjoy it maybe that

maybe that's bad on me Mom Dad I'm sorry

send me a bill but

uh you know I just freely re receive of

all the wonderful things that are

stocked in their

Pantry why because it's been bought and

paid

for now I could go down there and I

could be thinking well I'm going to owe

them this much for this and I'm going to

owe them this much for this and

sometimes as Christians we try to

approach the blessing of God that way

like how how much how much is this going

to cost me God how much time am I going

to have to spend doing this to earn this

how much time am I going to have to pray

before you'll do this how long shall I T

before you will answer before you will

hear no that's it was bought or it

wasn't it's been provided or it's not

available it's there or it's not I

believe it's there I believe it's

available I believe it's been bought and

full paid for by the blood of

Jesus

Amen

Hallelujah his blood pays for our every

need this is the redeemed condition

bought into life bought into blessing

bought out of the

curse and so make a choice Church don't

don't accept cursing in your life and

I'm not talking about saying B you

shouldn't do that either but I'm talking

about cursed things walking through your

front door and getting to make a home in

your life don't do it you don't have to

receive it you can stand and fight the

good fight of Faith come on we can walk

by faith and believe what the word says

rather than by F by sight we take hold

of eternal life we contend for the

Blessed condition we contend that look

look you don't fight to get redeemed you

fight to stay in the redeemed condition

you fight to stay in the awareness of

redemption that's what the fight of

faith is the fight of faith is not to

beat the devil so you earn something it

is to not allow the devil to take away

what Jesus has bought for you you know

that you know the Devil's a thief this

is how he works he comes in he knows

what Jesus has done for you he wants to

steal it he wants to kill it he wants to

destroy it and he does it by getting you

to accept little pieces of the

curse I'm okay I I'll just tolerate it

if it gets really bad then you know

maybe I'll pray if it gets really bad I

I'll go do something about no reject the

curse Jesus bought you out of the curse

you've been bought and redeemed amen

we've been redeemed by the blood of

Jesus Paid and full paid in full and so

don't do not let the devil drag you back

into cursing and you know how he does it

it's through doubt and

disbelief this wasn't supposed to be a

big part of the sermon today but yeah

we're here we are doubt and disbelief

that's how the devil steals from you and

those take on different we could give

different names to it fear is doubt and

disbelief you know that guilt is doubt

and disbelief

I mean anything that contradicts what

the Bible says it's it's doubt and

disbelief and you know what's

interesting Jesus when he walked around

on Earth you know he was doing amazing

things where Jesus wouldn't where his

power would not be observed it was where

there was doubt and

disbelief how many times through the I

don't I don't know the number I should

have looked the number up how many times

through the gospel we hear Jesus say oh

how do you still

disbelieve oh you're doubt

out I mean even his disciples in the

boat they wake him up in the middle of

the storm and he says how do you not

believe I'm you know I'm Jesus and I'm

I've healed sick I've cast out demons

and you're scared of the

rain how do you not believe what was

that that was the devil coming to steal

the blessing of Jesus in their

life he looks for an inn and the Inn is

always doubting and disbelief

and so I want you to know this church

you are cursed no

more you are

blessed you are blessed the condition of

your life is redeemed the condition of

your life is redeemed into blessing out

of

cursing so live in the redeemed

condition you know if I was going to

keep keep up with you on my points we're

probably on like four now number two

would have been what is redemption

number number three would have been

cursed no more here's number four for

you live in the redeemed condition in

Matthew 26:28 Jesus says this is my

Matthew 26:28

blood which confirms the Covenant

between God and his people poured out as

a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many

see living in this Covenant we talked

about it at Communion we are in a

covenant with God that's this blessed

condition that's this redeemed condition

that we

have to live it out we have to have

awareness of our righteousness we have

to have awareness of redemption why am I

preaching about Redemption to a room

full of people that are most probably

most of you are saved po probably most

of you have already been redeemed and

you know about that to a certain degree

we have to be reminded of it we have to

hear it again because the devil will

give you every reason to believe you're

not you need some voices in your life

that will tell you that you are amen and

I'm telling you today you are redeemed

you are blessed you have been

transferred out of the kingdom of

darkness into the light and so we have

to live with an awareness of this

Redemption because it sets an

expectation of blessing even even as

I've been preaching this morning does

anybody feel like your expectation has

risen a little bit today that I I have

faith for a little bit more of God's

blessing in my life than what I've

accepted in the

past what is that that's your awareness

Rising God hasn't changed his word is

the same the blessing's no different

today but your awareness is greater and

so your expectation is greater so we

need to live with an awareness with an

expectation of blessing from this

redeemed condition we need to live with

an awareness of what the blood has

bought for us that the blood was enough

to bring me entirely into Covenant with

God right it's it it is all or nothing

with the blood I'm either in or I'm not

and it's all based on his payment and my

faith receiving that we must believe all

that the word say says the blood has

accomplished we're we I intend next week

to talk more about different aspects of

this blessed life this Covenant we have

with God and what the blood has has

accomplished for us and so I hope you'll

come back and hear more of

that but I'll tell you this it comes by

keeping our Awareness on what the blood

has done for us it comes from keeping

our Awareness on our Redemption because

when I'm unsure when I'm doubting here's

another word for that when I'm double

minded like it says in James you know

what James says about double-mindedness

let that man not think he will receive

anything from the Lord double-mindedness

is called wickedness in the word so

let's keep our attention singularly

focused not on cursing but on the

blessing of God on the Redemption we

have in Jesus you see we we need a

boldness to know that we are bought we

need a boldness to have I have a right

to stand in this promise I have a right

to stand in blessing because I'm in this

Covenant of blessing with God by faith I

trust I know I'm assured that his blood

was enough you see the way I would liken

this is your his blood is your

credential his blood is your credential

the blood is that thing which confirms

you know our position our promise our

identity The Authority that we've been

given as a result of belonging to God

the blood is the cred itial that you

have that you can point to and say I

know this is mine because you know Jesus

he he gave it to me you know one time

when I was at bible school I got to walk

with somebody who was at a higher level

position at at the ministry at Rama

where I went to school and it was so

amazing you know I had walked through

these hallways for years like they've

got big mirrors so I'd walk through the

mirror you know I was in college I was

kind of checking myself out while I

walked down the aisle at church and I'd

walk around these hallways and all this

time but I walked with the right guy one

time someone who had credentials and I

got to go places I had never been before

I got to go in rooms I had never seen

before I I got to go up behind the stage

and see this catwalk and all these light

fixtures and I I had this thought you

know if I hadn't been with somebody who

had credentials I never would have

gotten to go to those places I would

have never gotten to see those things

and the way I would liken this is the

blood of Jesus is the credential that

will take you places is that you could

not go on your own the blood of Jesus is

the the credential that assures you of

blessing and provision that you could

not have obtained on your own things you

could never buy things you could never

earn have been provided with the blood

of Jesus and so just like if I had a

badge to go somewhere I I would hang on
