this morning church uh we are going to

continue our worship with an opportunity

to give um we do believe that just like

we sing songs to God and it's you know

the fruit of our lips it's our praise

it's it's a way we worship him the way

we give to him we believe in the similar

way our our offerings our tithes these

givings are uh fruit of our hands fruit

of our life uh a way to bring God the

fullness of our life and body before him

and not that finances encapsulate all

that we are but you know you give time

you give effort you give attention uh to

earn finances and so we believe offering

these things is one way that we can

worship and praise God as well as uh the

singing and the Praises we offer of our

mouth and so uh this morning as we

prepare to do that if you uh if you've

decided you'd like to give this morning

you can put your hand up if you came

preparing to do that by cash or check an

user will come and find you with an

envelope if you'd like one just raise

your hand otherwise we'll have some

online options up in a moment um you

know before we give at church CH I

always like to look to the word and just

encourage our hearts about why we give

look at examples of giving in Scripture

that are so powerful for uh showing us

what's at work when a person gives of uh

Financial things and um I'd like us to

go to 2 Samuel 23 and this is an

offering made that was not Financial but

it was very valuable and this is in the

life of David now if you know about

David of the Old Testament you know he

was a king he was a warrior he was um a

man that God loved a go a man that

pursued God at a a very deep level a man

after God's Own Heart Is What scripture

says about David and David was known to

be victorious you know he led lots of

battle took lots of land uh that God had

promised the nation of Israel the tribes

of Israel and so David is this you know

Victorious King and we see this little

moment this is in the book of 2 Samuel

describing different events in David's

life and in chapter 23 we see David in

the middle of this battle with the

Philistines this enemy Nation who owned

territory that God had said belonged to

David and Israel which he was King over

and so David is pursuing God's promise

you know he is he is going after the

things that God has told him belong to

him he has been pursuing the promised

land and uh fighting in in the help of

the Lord and with the armies that God

surrounded him with to make that happen

and here David makes this comment as

he's in the middle of this battle

environment he says to uh three of his

Mighty Men of Valor if you look in the

word you'll find a list in uh in

chonicles there's a mention of them here

in 2 Samuel as well these mighty men

that David surrounded himself with to

fight with to pursue promise with it's

important to have the right people

around you church and so David is

speaking to these men that he's battling

for the promises of God with and what he

says to them is this oh how I would love

some of that good water from the well by

the gate in Bethlehem so the three the

three Mighty Men broke through the

Philistines Line This is a battle Line

This is the whole of their army where

they had won territory to and so this

well with the good water is back Behind

Enemy Lines and David's saying oh I

would just I would love some of that

good water from the well by the gate in

Bethlehem and so these three Mighty Men

of Valor with David they broke through

the enemy's combat line they broke

through into enemy territory where this

well was and they drew some of the water

from the well by the gate in Bethlehem

and then they brought it back to David

can you just imagine the scenario you're

in the middle of combat and here you've

got these three Mighty I like think

about we got SEAL Team Six three guys

from there sitting here with David and

he says man I am so thirsty I would love

some of that good water from the gate

and they say all right David we're on it

they bust through Enemy Lines they get

this water they carry this water all the

way back and then they present it to

David and here it says but he refused to

drink it instead he poured poured it out

as an offering to the Lord the Lord

forbid that I should drink this he

exclaimed the water this water is as

precious as the blood of these men who

risked their lives to bring it to me so

David did not drink it these are

examples of the exploits of these three

Mighty Men of Valor a couple things I

love about this story one is about this

water I every time I read it you know my

first thought is man all that for a

drink of water you know what I mean but

there's something special about this

well and this water you see this was

especially valuable to David because he

had grown up outside of Bethlehem he had

he had cared for flocks Shepherd flocks

outside of Bethlehem in his father's

house and so this well would have been

the place where when he was growing up

this is where he took the Sheep to drink

this is where he refreshed himself in

difficult times in his youth just think

about that he's in the M middle middle

of this battle with the Philistines hard

thing to be a part of and he's in this

tired place he's needing some refreshing

and he's remembering the Well from his

youth you know after he defeated the

bear he would have had a drink out of

this well he would have had a drink of

this good water after he defeated the

lion he would have had a drink of this

water and so this well represents a

place of refreshing it had some

Nostalgia for David that water is better

than other water why because it was the

water he grew up with and it was the

place where he had found refreshment

time and time again and so in this

moment of tiredness weariness David

wants to be refreshed you know he wants

he wants some relief he wants a break

and can't you can't you relate to that

in the middle of a difficult time you

just say Lord I need a break I just want

some rest I just want to be refreshed in

this time David so badly wanted that

refreshing from this well in Bethlehem

and so this thing he most wanted was

gone and pursued and obtained by the

love of these three men I love that as

well it was love for David that caused

these three men to go and get this water

and bring it back to him and it makes me

think about all the blessings of God all

the refreshing of God all the things God

provides for us and it's cuz he so loved

the world that he gave what was so

valuable and so I see that exemplified

in these men and their sacrifice as well

through their love they went and

obtained they got it and they brought it

to David so he could have it it was

incredibly costly and Incredibly

valuable to him not because of what it

was but because of what it represented I

love that about this story too you know

sometimes I look at a dollar bill and I

think well it's just a dollar bill which

today doesn't buy you as much as it used

to and I think about a dollar and I

think well you know a dollar saved it's

a dollar earned but a dollar is really

not all that much but but what does it

represent to me what does it mean to me

what's the significance of it to me you

know as I was getting ready to share

with you this morning one of the things

I thought back on is when I was in

Sunday school growing up in church and

you know I would have like $3 to my name

cuz I could never hold on to money for

very long I always found something to to

spend it on and I would come to church

and I'd have a few dollars and at our

church growing up we had this little

like shop outside the kids ministry

where you could buy all kinds of like

stuff that ends up getting thrown away a

couple weeks later it was that kind of

stuff and Candy you know the things kids

need to be getting at church and so I

would see all this stuff and I think man

I would love you know to buy this snack

I would love to buy this thing um I

remember one time I went into our church

bookstore and I was like looking at

these totes and I'm like Oh my life

would be so much better if I just had

one of these Church branded totes

and uh I eventually got one and it

didn't change anything but um you know I

I thought of all these other things that

I could get with my dollar and to me

when I gave a dollar away it wasn't

giving away a little piece of green

paper it was giving away something a

value something of meaning something

that I could you know receive something

I could enjoy something I could be

refreshed by and here I I can't think of

a much better example where David has

water you know water's cheap what unless

you need it right and then you really

really it becomes valuable David's got

this water and he's got other water but

this is refreshing to him this is

significant to him and he says you know

what this is too valuable it's too

costly for me to drink it I'm going to

instead offer it to the Lord and that's

what I love the most about this the most

honoring thing David thought he could do

with this valuable Gift of Water was to

give it to God to pour it out before the

Lord as an offering as worship as

sacrifice and it just makes me reflect

on Jesus's words that we hear in Acts 20

where Paul he remembers what Jesus said

it's better to give than to receive and

here I see that so much it being better

to give it to God than it is to receive

it myself David knew that he knew this

would be better for me to take this

valuable thing and honor God with it

than for me to have this moment of

refreshing and I will tell you this a

life honoring God a life worshiping God

a life sacrificing God is better than

any momentary thing we might enjoy can

you say Amen to that church and so I

just love this story it was on my heart

this week and so I wanted to encourage

you as we give today let's offer

whatever we're offering today as a

sacrifice to honor and worship Our God

because he's worthy of it isn't he amen

let's pray over our offering if our

users would come forward we're going to

just pray a blessing over this and ask

God to use it do amazing things for his

kingdom with it and we're just going to

put our trust on him we're going to

honor him this morning as we give and so

if you would agree with me in prayer

let's pray over this offering together

father I do thank you for your word and

your instruction it teaches us how to

live in this way that is righteous it

corrects us it encourages us it reproves

us and so we love your word and Lord as

we've looked in your word at the story

of David and this good water from the

well at Bethlehem Lord I Thank you that

our hearts can be encouraged from his

example that in him we see we see the

sacrifice of something valuable because

he recognize how glorious you are how

worthy you are and how the very best

thing we could do with something of

value is to offer it for you to do what

you will and so Lord we offer you what

we have this morning and we ask you to

use it for your glory as we sew we ask

you to grow and bless and increase and

multiply what is given today so that it

can be used exceedingly abundantly above

all we could ask think or imagine to

expand your kingdom and to take this

good news the Glorious gospel into every

part of the world that it needs to go

Lord help us to do good works and to

follow after your plan and your will

Lord I also thank you that as we give we

can trust you you are provider with your

love you have given us everything that

we have need of and so we trust you we

thank you we love you we honor you we

glorify your name and we give in jesus'

name amen I pray and I age do you agree

with me church we expect good things to

come as we give and uh I've got some

announcements we'll get to an a minut

minute before we do that um we're going

to do something we don't normally on a

Sunday and uh we are going to cut audio

from our live stream and here in a

uh we're just going to have our

bulletin but uh we are getting ready for

Easter season it's going to be here so

fast it's just a a little bit over a

month away now on April 20th is Easter

Sunday and so we're going to have some

special things going on that weekend as

we get ready for Easter one of the

things we've been doing the past several

years is a community Outreach Easter egg

hunt and we've just seen that grow and

grow over the last few years and um so

we want to continue growing that and

providing more opportunity for people to

come and bringing more people uh to the

church and uh this year we'll talk some

more when we get closer about ways you

can get involved with that weekend and

the Easter egg hunt but one way that

right now if you'd like to help us

prepare for Easter weekend you could do

that is by purchasing purchasing

individually wrapped candy and bringing

it to church to donate because we're

going to fill up up over a th I haven't

decided yet if we're going to do 2,000

or500 or three but we're going to fill

up a lot of Easter eggs and it takes a

lot of candy to do that so if you could

please bring uh individually wrapped

candy bags of that to the church by

April 6th that would be such a help to

us as we get ready to fill all those

Easter eggs and so I think that's in the

bulletin just bring the bags put them on

the south desk and we'll uh we'll take

care of the candy from there um a

meeting coming up after service today is

for our uh new ministry group uh I'm

just calling it blankets for agape maybe

we'll come up with a better name you can

talk about that today I guess uh but if

you crochet or you sew or you knit any

of those creative crafty type things and

you could make a blanket um we are as a

church going to be donating blankets you

as individuals who are crafty can donate

blankets with this group uh to Agape

which is a pregnancy center um in De

Moine uh new Mission partner of ours and

they give away uh bags of just care

items to every um confirmed positive

pregnant mother that comes through their

doors and so um as they give those out

uh it takes a lot of blankets CU they

they service a lot of people and so uh

they said we're constantly in need of

blankets and this is just one way that

Donna was inspired to uh kind of lead a

group to help give and Supply a need at

agap and so if you're crafty if you'd

like to uh just have fellowship with

people that do that kind of thing and

contribute to a great cause just come to

the meeting after church today are you

just planning to meet in here Donna just

right up here in in you know this area

in front of the stage just stay come on

up here after service and Donna is just

going to have a short meeting about that

group what they'll be doing how it'll

work and how you can be involved so if

you want to be part of that or you just

want to hear about it come to the

meeting uh right after service today um

yes I just want to say that today at the

meeting we'll probably also be talking

about way other ways people can donate

to the group sure by buying materials

and yeah donating absolutely so so if if

you're not crafty but you want to be a

part of this you can come and hear about

that as well so there's opportunity for

all kinds of gifts in the body of Christ

amen um so that's happening today after

service uh women of life is coming up

this Tuesday so our monthly women's

meeting is going to be uh Tuesday March

11th 6 pm at Pastor Becky's house there

will be a meal Brook manhan is going to

be sharing it'll be a great time of

fellowship and uh the text for that has

gone out today so if you got that text

and you're planning to go please respond

attending uh by the end of service today

you can even pull out your phone right

now and just type in attending if you

got that text and if you didn't get that

text if you're a woman and you didn't

get that text and you'd like to go to

women of life this Tuesday at 6:00 um we

can still have you join just talk to

Donna or my wife Taylor who was up here

and uh we will get you taken care of and

signed up for women of life

um two more things I'm going to say and

then I Cindy wise had asked to share

about um an opportunity to hear about um

a need and so she's going to come up and

share about that in a moment as well um

ignite which is a youth overnight lock

in in the in Fellowship Church in Iowa

um that's going to be happening March

28th and 29th so it's a one night

overnight lockin with several youth

groups from around Iowa I know we have

youth that are interested in going or

planning to go um and maybe you're a

youth or you have a youth and this is

the first time you're hearing about it

uh we really need you to get signed up

so we can prepare um transport and we

can prepare volunteers to take the youth

down uh you can sign up by going to our

website clicking on the ignite click on

events click on ignite and there will be

a registration link I think there is

cost but for the cost they're getting a

dinner a breakfast a lunch and I think a

t-shirt from ignite weekend and so it'll

be great ministry they are flying in a

speaker who's from a large he's a

teaching pastor at a large Church in

Mississippi but he is a a Ministry

leader actually from colia and so I've

listened to this man preach he is a

powerful and dynamic Minister youth you

are going to be so encouraged at ignite

weekend so if you can go please do go

please sign up and if you have any

trouble getting signed up or if there's

um any barrier to you going that you

think you could receive help to get

through please come and talk to us cuz

we just would love for all of our youth

to be able to go to ignite weekend um

and then one other opportunity that's

coming up and I was thinking of sharing

about it today but I'm going to wait

because we're having a blanket for agape

meeting today um we have an opportunity

to take a a small mission team into the

nation of Cuba with one of our

missionary Partners this year and so

when I say small I'm talking less than

10 people total so it would be a small

team and um there's there's the reason

for this trip is uh our partners who

work with a number of different churches

in Cuba um find it very difficult to get

physical supplies in to help Ministry

efforts go uh but one of the ways to

take supplies in is for people to carry

supplies in Legally we're not asking

anybody to smuggle but like we would be

taking supplies in with us and then

donating them to churches in Cuba and so

this is one of the ways that uh we could

bring physical supplies to help meet a

need but then there are churches that

they're partnered with with in in fact

they are working with five partner

churches in eastern Cuba who have

opportunity to do medical outreaches um

children's Crusades youth events and and

then church and leadership style

Ministry services and so uh those are

the type of things we're looking at

doing this is going to be a trip that

comes together fast if it does and it

all depends on if we have people that

God inspires to go and be part of this

um is a very reasonable trip cost and we

would be looking at probably the first

week of July uh when we would go and so

if you're interested if you know yours

your ears perked up a little bit when I

said mission trip to Cuba uh you can

come and find me after church I would

love to talk with you answer any

questions you might have to the best of

my ability um and we will hold a meeting

in the next few weeks about that if

there's anyone who wants to come and

hear kind of a formal presentation so

just have that on your radar if you have

questions if you have interest please

do need to bring that together quick if

it's going to happen so um that's my

13th I'm going to read something to you

but it it did come out of my heart I

didn't want to miss any of the facts to

help you understand what's going on and

to make a decision if you want to

participate so forgive me for reading

this but this coming Thursday on March

13th retired border patrol agent JJ

Carroll will be visiting jeffon to

present his experience in the fight

against one of America's greatest

tragedies the trafficking of children

for

profit Highway 30 has been identified as

a major traffic in route due to the fact

that it extends Across the Nation and

then it connects with interstates 35 and

80 as citizens of Green County and

Protectors of our children it is a

god-given privilege to have someone like

Mr Carol come to our community child

trafficking is everyone's problem

because it is the victimization of the

most innocent God's little lambs

if you can make it to this event you

will be empowered with knowledge and

moved with compassion so you can step

into your place on the battlefield to

eradicate child

trafficking even if your place is

informed prayer and heightened awareness

to uplift and support those who are on

the front

lines so I just want to thank you all

for considering being a part of this

Cindy all right well hey As She Goes

Down uh we're going to dismiss our kids

to go to their classes this morning um

we're glad that they could stay in and

praise with us worship but uh we are

going to let them go learn about the

word with their teachers who've prepared

and I would like to share with you this

morning from the word uh something that

the Lord has just been stirring in my

heart and uh this is probably the last

message you know depending on how far we

get today um about being Blood Bought

that's the title Blood Bought and we've

been looking at 1 Corinthians 6 uh verse

20 of that chapter in the Amplified it

reads you were bought with a price you

were actually purchased with the

precious blood of Jesus and made his own

so then honor and glorify God with your

body and so in this series blood bot um

we've been looking at the completed work

of atonement we've been looking at our

redeemed condition which is what we

studied this last week and how we stand

in that condition we stay in it we've

been brought out of Darkness brought out

of a curse and placed into the

Redemption and blessing of God we've

looked at how we have been actually

bought as God's Own people through the

blood of Jesus how that was the payment

to purchase us to make us uh priests and

Temple and his children his very own

belonging and um this morning we're

going to continue kind of in that line

if you would open your Bibles to the

book of Hebrews we're going to be

looking in chapter kind of nine and 10

bouncing around in there to some

different verses um because in Hebrews

something that we are shown is that

there there has been a final pain of

atonement we we talked about that the

first week atonement which is the

offering of a payment to cover or to

wipe out um a debt is kind of the way we

phrased that in our first week in this

series and um what I'd like to start

with this morning is something I thought

I would get to the first week and then I

was really going to get to last week and

I failed to do that both times so this

morning I thought well let's just start

with that and let's see if we can get it

in that way so this morning what we're

going to begin with this thing I've been

intending to preach about the last two

weeks and just haven't made it to is how

we have been brought into

nearness how something has been

accomplished finally for all time so

that we can actually be brought close

into the presence of God and and what it

really starts with for me is this

understanding of something in Hebrews

chapter

9:12 about how this heavenly place of

worship that that that a sacrifice has

been made not in a physical place but in

the most holy Place once and for all

time and it enables us to come into the

most holy place which we could say is

the very presence the very Throne of God

uh once and and for all time let's read

this in Hebrews

Hebrews 9:12

9:12 talking about what Jesus did in

offering himself in body and blood on

the cross it says with his own blood not

the blood of goats and calves which is

what was required in the Old Testament

he in he entered the most holy Place

once for all time and secured our

Redemption forever under the old system

the blood of goats and Bulls and the

ashes of a hepher could cleanse people's

bodies from ceremonial impurity just

think how much much more the blood of

Christ will purify our consciences from

sinful Deeds so that we can worship the

Living God for by the power of the

eternal spirit Christ offered himself to

God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins

and so we see this presentation this

this miraculous event happened where

Jesus offered himself as a sacrifice but

I love in this verse of Hebrews chapter

Hebrews 9 · chapter mention

9 that the distinction is made this

didn't happen at the physical altar in

Israel this didn't happen at the temple

Temple altar it didn't happen in a

tabernacle altar it didn't happen in the

holiest of holies behind the veil in

this Temple but it happened in where the

most high place the Heavenly place this

is talking about the spiritual reality

of atonement being made rather than just

a physical reality what's referenced

here talking about the blood of goats

and Bs and the ashes of a hepher you see

those were physical sacrifices that

Israel would make to ceremonially be

purified but their spirit were never

dealt with their hearts were never

purified because it never happened in

the Heavenly place you see in the Old

Testament there was always the physical

sacrifi sacrifice in a physical place

but what Jesus did is he came and he

offered a Heavenly sacrifice in a

Heavenly place you know the blood of

goats and Bulls that couldn't have made

the sacrifice in the Heavenly place that

couldn't have gone before the perfect

father God creator of all and have been

an atoning payment but Jesus perfect

blood was and is that payment you see

Jesus in his life in his walk in his

time on the physical Earth he never we

don't see in scripture him ever walking

into the holy of holies into this place

behind the veil into the temple and

offering himself as a sacrifice of blood

but the word tells us that this happened

in a Heavenly place and I want to tell

you this morning it's so much better

that Jesus made a Heavenly sacrifice

than just a physical sacrifice now he

made a physical sacrifice that happened

on Calvary it wasn't the altar that is

the Israelites had built it wasn't the

altar described in Exodus but Calvary

became a physical place where offering

was made but when that happened

something in the spiritual realm in the

Heavenly places happened too in the

Heavenly places Jesus was offering his

blood as the atoning payment for all sin

of all time forever and so this

sacrifice which was sufficient to

complete the atoning work had never been

offered until Jesus went to the most

holy place and offered his blood and so

I love about this passage it shows us

the type the shadow in the Old Testament

of blood being offered on a physical

Altar and it says that's what Jesus did

in heaven for us to fix it forever to

fix it once for all time what I love

about this is until an offering was made

in the Heavenly places man was still

ineligible from going into the Heavenly

places you know in the Old Testament

under their system of atonement the

closest any man could get to God was to

go behind the curtain into the holy of

holies where the Ark of the Covenant

where the blood The Mercy Seat which

blood would be sprinkled on laid and one

man the high priest got to do it one

time a year and I'll tell you what if he

messed anything up in his sanctification

ritual before that he dropped dead the

second he walked through the door pretty

high odds huh very limited access is

what I would call like you talk about an

exclusive

place to go that was it you know if

you're not the one right guy on the one

time of a year and you did everything

right to get there then you die limited

access no nearness no one could go near

no one could really get close no one

could really know God because the place

the physical place on Earth where he

would come and dwell for a time was was

restricted from pretty much everybody

pretty much all the time and what I love

about this verse is it tells tell us

Jesus went to even a closer place than

the holiest of holies even that place

which was restricted to everybody except

the one guy the one time of year Jesus

went even further than that he went into

the very Throne into the most holy Place

into the presence of God the father and

he offered his blood there as the once

and for all time atoning payment and

what it did is it made a way for you and

I to go to that same place this is what

the second part of what we read this

morning tells us just think if that

physical thing could accomplish that and

give you know a physical cleansing for

the year how much more will the blood of

Christ purify our consciences from

sinful Deeds so that we can worship the

Living God for by the power of the

eternal spirit Christ offered himself to

God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins

how much more do we get to go right into

the presence of God and worship him

because of the sacrifice Jesus made in

his blood here's another verse just a

chapter further in Hebrews 10: 19 it

says this and so dear brothers and

sisters so that's everybody who's been

saved that's everybody who's received

Jesus that's everybody who's opted in

for the buyout of his blood and all of

us who are in that category it says we

can enter boldly into Heaven's Most Holy

place because of the blood of Jesus so

what this tells us is when Jesus made

this spiritual offering in the most holy

place he made a way for us to go into

the Most Holy place too we never could

have gotten there on our own you

couldn't have prayed enough read enough

worshiped hard enough couldn't have

cried enough been on your knees enough

there is nothing you could have ever

done to deserve to go into the most holy

place but we don't get what we deserve

we get what Jesus Paid for amen that's

what we said last week our life isn't

about getting what we've worked to earn

it's about walking in what Jesus has

bought and graciously provided for us

and part of what his blood has done for

us is it has given us access into the

very presence of

God come on that's that's worth an amen

from somebody this morning access to the

very presence of God the thing that was

broken When sin entered the Garden of

Eden you know they were cast out from

the garden they were cast out from the

presence it wasn't just a curse that

they entered into it was a presence that

they went out from and not only have we

been brought out of a curse we've been

brought back in in to the presence of

God and so now through our perfect

mediator Jesus and his blood we worship

God not just in a physical place we we

can worship him in the Heavenly place in

his very presence this was never

available until Jesus went to the most

holy place and so today we draw near to

God not just in a physical way not just

with physical proximity we don't we

don't just come to church and that's the

one way we get near to God no

spiritually speaking we've been brought

into the presence of God and so we ought

to be mindful that when we're worshiping

God we are not just doing it in a church

building but in the very presence of the

most high you know this morning when we

were singing those songs we were not

just worshiping God at 1308 West Lincoln

Way and Jefferson Iowa 50129 we were

worshiping God in his presence in the

most Heavenly place because that's where

Jesus has brought us to spiritually

speaking Jesus is at the right hand of

the father he is in the throne room and

we are seated with him in Heavenly

places which means when we worship God

we're worshiping him actually in his

presence spiritually amen now we do that

by faith I've never seen what heaven

looks like I know there are people that

have dreams or visions or experiences

where they they do I've never seen that

with my eyes but I've seen it in my

heart can you say Amen to that that's

faith I walk not by physical sight but I

walk by what I know is true in the word

of God and what the word tells me is I'm

in the presence of the God who made all

heavens and earth and so when I sing

praises I'm singing in his presence I'm

worshiping in his presence I'm offering

something in his presence and so through

the blood we come before God with a

different kind of presence with a

different kind of sacrifice with a

different kind of worship I love this

too this this might be one of my

favorite things I got in this whole

series as I was studying we come and we

worship with a different kind of

sacrifice today we worship god with

voluntary worship rather than mandatory

worship I love this listen in the Mosaic

law in the Old Testament there were two

you could you could group all sacrifices

into two groups there were mandatory

sacrifices and then there were voluntary

sacrifices they're both present if you

look in the Old Testament you will see

the sin offering or the sin sacrifice

and the trespass sacrifice uh they were

not non negotiable these were mandatory

things that had to be done or or you die

I mean it was a zero some gain you have

to do these and so that required blood

this is the blood of goats the blood of

bulls the ashes of the heer that we were

reading about in Hebrews chapter 9 those

Hebrews 9 · chapter mention

were mandatory non-negotiables this

wasn't like oh I just feel so good I

feel like worshiping God today so I'm

going to I'm going to go offer him this

sacrifice no this was you you have to do

it there is no question and they always

required blood they always required the

sacrificing of life these mandatory ones

and this is what the work of atonement

needed to accomplish for us this is the

sacrifice Jesus completed once for all

time Jesus offered the mandator

mandatory sacrifice forever what Jesus

did is he fulfilled the requirement for

these mandatory sacrifices of blood that

were present in the old Covenant in this

new covenant in Christ we no longer have

to offer mandatory sacrifices but here's

the other thing in the Mosaic law there

were also voluntary sacrifices you see

these the burnt offering the grain

offering the drink off offering the

peace offering these were sacrifices

offerings that were given willingly to

God out of worship out of Praise out of

thanks out of devotion and these were

always voluntary and so our

voluntary offerings today are still

present you know just because Jesus has

completed the work of paying the blood

price and uh covering the mandatory

offering it does not take away the fact

that we are still called to give God

worship and give him offerings and

sacrifices these voluntary actions today

are things like giving him our thanks

giving him praise they're things like

singing praise and worship it's giving

him of our resources of our time of our

Treasure of our talents and abilities

it's when we act in love toward other

people it's when we devote ourselves to

him what are these These are offerings

these are sacrifices these are um

actions of worship but they're not

mandatory they're voluntary I guess I

love about this that Jesus made a shift

for us

where we don't give out of obligation

because what God loves a cheerful Giver

that verse I believe it even connects to

this that it's not about I give because

I have to it's I give because I get to I

I worship because I get to you know

Jesus Paid the price for you to be

redeemed and for you to be saved and for

atonement to be done and so this is such

a message of Grace because there's

nothing you could have done to take care

of the mandatory offering but because

that's been fulfilled now you get to

offer God every action of worship in

your life from a place of Freedom

voluntary is a free thing right

mandatory means I don't have a choice

voluntary means I have a choice it's a

liberty thing it's a free thing and so

our sacrifices our worship our offer

it's all it's all out of a place of

freedom and we have to be careful with

this because it it can be so easy to

fall into the works of I do these things

because I want to get something from God

I do these things because I you know I'm

trying to make him happy with me I'm

trying to make myself right I'm trying

to pay for what I've done I mean I'm

doing my Penance you ever said that or

thought that or heard that before don't

raise your hands it it's something that

comes from this mandatory place not from

a voluntary place and if we're not

careful we take things that are meant to

be voluntary and we we put them in a

perspective of a mandatory offering and

now instead of being something that are

are wonderful they become oppressive

have you ever felt that that way have

you ever put yourself on like a Bible

reading plan and you get 3 days in

you're like this is oh I have to that's

what you start saying isn't it I have to

no you

don't this is a different message than

you hear preached in most churches right

I have to no you don't you get

to you see it's a shift in perspective

from mandatory sacrifice to voluntary

sacrifice in the New Covenant it's

voluntary yeah if if you've received

Jesus the mandatory obligation the

mandatory requirements been taken care

of and so now all of what we offer God

it's supposed to be voluntary it's

supposed to be free it's supposed to be

because I want to and I will say this

sometimes our spirit wants to but the

flesh is weak right and so sometimes the

hard part it's not because you don't

really want to it's just because you

have to put your flesh in check and we

all have to do that and that's okay but

but I think if we kept this perspective

that I get to

I get to worship God I get to read the

Bible what a gift that is you know how

many Believers in the world today don't

have a bible to read and I've got like

as many copies as many translations more

than I could ever read and it's all

available but I have to I have to what

is that it's obligation it's it's taking

a voluntary thing and making it a

mandatory

thing and when we realize how these

actions of worship you know are are

glorifying to God and blessing to us

then we get to we we want to I get into

the place where I want to instead of I

have to all right I'm I'm talking

conceptual this morning and and I get

too far into that sometimes and so let

me just say it like this we don't

worship God today because we have to we

don't worship him to try to make

atonement we worship we sacrifice we

give because we get to in this condition

of redemption in which we live because

of the blood of Jesus we get to worship

and sacrifice freely in the very

presence of

God and so when I'm walking in love I'm

I'm walking in love in the presence of

God it's not just something I'm doing

here and you know maybe he's well he

sees yes we know he sees but he is there

with you and he's helping us and he's

guiding Us in how we worship Him how we

walk voluntarily so because of his blood

we get to come near and we we get to

worship we get to follow we get to serve

we get to do this in Ephesians 2:13 kind

Ephesians 2:13

of speaks to another part of this

nearness we have in the blood of Jesus

Ephesians 2:13 says but now you've been

Ephesians 2:13

United with Christ Jesus once you were

far away from God but now you've been

brought near to him through the blood of

Christ brought near to God through the

blood of Christ and the unity that we

have in him so the same place where

Jesus offered his blood as the atoning

payment to secure our Redemption this is

the same place we have been been brought

into brought near where we can boldly

enter into this throne and receive grace

and mercy from God because of the

mandatory sacrifice of atonement being

made we are able to come and offer

voluntary sacrifices offerings and

worship and so we get to boldly enter

the place of true worship not just a

physical place not just a church

building but into the very presence of

God and that is such a gift that that

Jesus has given to us to be able to go

into the presence and it's all because

of our Union in Jesus it's not because

of what I've done it's all because of

what Jesus has done and the fact that I

am in him and he is in me you know as I

think about being brought near to God by

the blood I have the thought that

nearness is the thing that we really

need connectedness is the thing that we

really need you know in the New

Testament as I look at Jesus life I just

see crowds of people that wanted to be

close to God wanted to be close to Jesus

I mean isn't that what we see happening

through the New Testament people just

flock him and throng him I mean the

woman with the issue of blood I mean she

was pushing through the crowd just so

she could get close to Jesus just to get

near to him why because powerful things

happen when you are near God when you

are near with Jesus when you're close to

him powerful things happen lifechanging

things happen I mean every person that

was near to Jesus I just see life

transformation I preached a message a

number of years ago and and what I I

think the way I said was like where he

is things change things happen when

Jesus shows up and so this is true and

we see it through the word being with

Jesus when he walked the Earth was the

closest anyone could ever get to the

presence of God because Jesus was the

son of God and so it was was being close

to God that caused just amazing life

change for people you know we see in

Jesus life that it was being near to him

that people were called and stepped into

things much better than they could have

ever imagined I mean just think about

the 12 disciples what they were doing

before Jesus and what they were doing

after they spent some time close to him

it changed everything in their life it

was through nearness that the sick were

healed it was through nearness that

religious hypocrisy was exposed it was

through nearness that people uh judged

and condemned as guilty found

forgiveness right I mean wasn't wasn't

the woman caught in the act of adultery

glad that Jesus showed up ready to get

stoned by all the accusers and then what

Jesus came close to her and it changed

everything she found forgiveness she

found

Hope in The Nearness that oppressed

people demonically oppressed people

found Deliverance it was always in the

presence it was always in The Nearness

of Jesus that these things happened it

just shows me being near to God is such

a powerful experience because when we're

close to God who he is and what he is

will affect

me you know know if if God is something

and then I get close to him I be I

become like

him you ever notice

like have you ever had a like a an ink

pad and you get your finger too close to

it what happens your finger is affected

by the ink right I mean if you don't get

close to it there's no problem nothing's

going to change you're not going to be

touched marked affected but man if you

get close it's getting on you and when

it gets on you it changes things right

it's kind of a simple example but that's

kind of what happens with Jesus you get

close to

Jesus start spending time with Jesus and

and he's going to start leaving an

impression in your life he's going to

start affecting things in your life

changing the way some things look making

it look what more like you or more like

him when I touch an ink pad I look like

that ink pad when you come near to

Christ it will affect your life when you

come near to the presence of God it will

affect your life and where I used to

look like me now I'm going to look like

him and isn't that what we all want

anyway to look like Jesus to live like

Jesus to Walk in the image of him that's

what I want and so at times I think we

get this idea that we need to go and get

something from God so that I have

it but I'm seeing more and more as I

study the word the answer isn't I need

to go and get something and then take it

back into my everyday life I need to get

into his presence and stay stay there

because when I'm with him he affects

things in my life it's not I don't want

to go and take something from his house

bring it back to mine and then use it

until it breaks and then I'll go get

something else from him and take this

back and use it till it breaks no I'm

just going to go and stay with him

because things are good in his presence

things are powerful in his presence

things are alive in his presence and so

the issue is do I do I know that the

blood has brought me near to him do I

know that by the blood of Jesus I have

been brought close I can't earn my way

any closer but I can live with an

awareness that I'm near him and that's

where things change is when we live with

the awareness that I'm near to him it's

when we learn that I have been United

with Christ I'm in him and he is in me

and so who Jesus is is going to affect

how I live and what my life looks like I

I guess maybe the way to ask it would be

you know are we are we asking the

question God has it will he give it to

me instead maybe we should live like God

has it so what does he want me to do

with

it you know I I think sometimes when it

comes to receiving things by faith we do

think like it's it's this transaction

like he's still withholding it up there

and if I ask enough if I do enough maybe

he'll give it to me but what I see as I

study the word is that it's not a matter

of we need to go and get more things

it's it's we need to realize what Jesus

has bought us into bought us into he has

bought us into being children of God he

has bought us into the presence of God

he has bought us to be with the one who

is our provider and our healer and so

many other things that we'll look at

here in just a

minute I thought of this example

actually you know my dad he's got he's

got some years on me and in his years on

me he's bought some tools that I haven't

bought yet and every once in a while

I'll be working on a project and I will

come to a problem that I don't have a

tool to solve in fact this happened just

last year I was working on this small

engine and I got to the part where I

needed to like pull something off the

drive shaft and I couldn't pull it and I

didn't have a tool that I could connect

to like pull this this Frame off anyway

you don't care about that I didn't have

the right tool but my dad

did and so um in interacting with him I

realized you know I have access to what

my dad has but I don't have ownership of

it myself and so the the question

becomes does God have it and does he

want me to use

it does God have it and does God want me

to use it or maybe a better question

even is this does God have it how does

he want me to use

it because I knew I knew this because I

know my dad loves me and I know he's

generous toward me and I know he wants

to help me which are all things that I

know about our heavenly father in an

even greater way I mean I love my dad

but God loves me more I love my dad but

God's more generous than anybody can you

say Amen to that church come on we know

that about our God and so I knew that

about him and I I knew you know he has

it and I know his willingness is to help

me and so all I'll have to ask is like

what do you want me to do with it you

know what can I not do with it maybe is

the question and so I think when it

comes to the Lord we need to approach

him the same way I know you have it I

know you're willing

to allow me to use what you own it's

it's like I don't need you God I don't

need you to give it to me I just I just

need you to let it work in my life Lord

I I don't need you to give me all the

provision of Heaven I I just need you to

use it in my life when there's need Lord

I I don't need you to you know give me

healing for every single thing I I just

need your healing power to work in my

life when I'm struggling or when I'm

hurting or when I'm sick or I need to be

you know quickened and recharged and

made stronger and so it's not a matter

of Lord will you just give it to me so

that I can have it and own it it's Lord

you own it how do you want to work it in

my life how do you want to use it in my

life is that making sense this morning I

hope so it's making sense to one person

so hey that's that's enough but it it's

I guess what I'm just trying to say is

with the

blood it doesn't buy us things to own

ourself it it buys us into sharing what

he

has Maybe here's one for you let's see

if this connects with anybody it's more

like like having a Netflix subscription

than it is a DVD

collection okay does that connect a

little bit I think that was a pretty

good one everybody I think it is because

you see with DVDs it's like I have to go

out and I have to purchase every single

one of them and then I just hold on to

them and I accumulate and I collect and

then when I need it I have it so I'll

grab it and I'll use it but a

subscription is different isn't it yeah

I don't own any of it if if Netflix

doesn't have it I don't have it right I

can't watch

but if Netflix has it and I'm subscribed

then I have access to it and I can use

it I can appropriate it I think in the

same way it is with the blood the blood

doesn't just buy us all these things to

have and own in ourself no it's only

through Jesus that we have them even

though his blood even though by his

stripes you're healed none of you own

healing Jesus owns healing because Jesus

is the one who bought it you know that

yes he bought it he owns it right he

bought us we belong to him

right he owns

it but because he bought you as his he

gives you access to the things that are

his come on Amen and so I don't need him

to give me everything to own myself I

just need to stay with him I need to

stay in him and I need to I need to

interact with what he

has he doesn't want you to have healing

independently from

him he he doesn't want you to have peace

independent from from him provision

independent from him a Shepherd

independent from him it's all in him

it's all through the union with Christ

amen the blood bought it paid in full

but the only way we access is through

Jesus Through staying near to

him I think we got it there now amen I

think DVD's got us there all

right that's pretty good so so if he's

the one we've been brought near to and

we have access to who he is and what he

does and what

has who is he who is he that's a pretty

important question if we've been bought

to him and we have access to the

fullness of who he is well who is he

it's important that you know because

knowing who he

is informs who you have access to

informs what you have access to and so

this morning I'd like very quickly to

just share about the seven Redemptive

names of

Jehovah seven seven qualities seven

things that God reveals not just that he

has but seven think God is and in fact

the very name Jehovah expresses that

thought because Jehovah translates to I

am I am you know when Moses was asking

God who he is and he says I am that I am

what was God saying he says well I

am I am you know I I can't that's that's

that's a little a little too deep to try

to wait into in nine minutes left this

morning all right so we're not going to

go into all of that but I'll tell you

this God is who he is God is who he is

and he knows who he is and he doesn't

change who he is and if he is then he is

right if God is healing then he's

healing there's no question about it if

God is peace then what he does is

peace right yes if God is present then

there's no question he is

present you see I am that I am it it's

like a it's like a a confirmation upon

confirmation that this this is is who I

am that I'm true that I'm trustworthy

that you can trust what I'm saying to

you is the truth and so he

is he says I am and in this he reveals

things about himself I am and then we're

going to go through seven different

things God says I am and so if he is

these things he is these things there's

no question and here's something else

for you God isn't I was he's I

am change he doesn't change that's

that's in Hebrews 13:8 Jesus is the same

Hebrews 13:8

yesterday today and forever he doesn't

change so if he is he is if he was he is

and he will forever more

be and so if God is

something well he wasn't just that a

thousand years ago and then he's not

today he is who he is he does what he

does and he will forever be who he is

let's get into who he is the first

Redemptive name I'd like to get into

with you this morning is this Jehovah

shama the the Lord is there the Lord is

present the Lord is here Among Us with

us and this is kind of the whole Crux of

the message this morning we're with him

we're near to him the blood has brought

us close and so God is present he's here

he's there he's wherever you are where

could I go to be apart from your

love what could ever separate me from

the love of God those are rhetorical

questions because the answer is nothing

nothing if you're near to him then he is

there with you cuz he is there I am the

Lord who is there I mean this is like

God saying I am there I am with you I am

present at all times everywhere you

could ever go Hebrews 10:19 boldly enter

Hebrews 10:19

Heaven's Most Holy place because of the

blood of Jesus he's there we're with him

Ephesians 2:13 we've been United with

Ephesians 2:13

Christ you've been brought near through

the blood he's there he's with us he's

present and so we can know this about

God he's with us us at all moments

through all times if you are ever

feeling alone you can look at the blood

of Jesus and say because of the blood of

Jesus I have been brought close to God

who is here who is present with me and

so I can never be alone again if I've

been bought by the blood that sounds

kind of fun huh you're never G to have

another day alone and all the moms with

young kids are like really never again

alone but this is a good thing never

alone because the perfect God who is

Ever present present is here with you at

all times he's here he's there he's

everywhere where you are because that's

who he is that's what the word says

that's what he said I am God who is

there and so if we're ever feeling

lonely if we're ever feeling

uncertain you ever feel like you're

wandering if you ever feel abandoned if

you ever feel like it's it's been a

little while since I got the Goosebumps

and Lord I'm feeling far from you right

now look at the blood of Jesus and say

because of the blood I have been bought

close to the one who is here he doesn't

leave he doesn't forsake he does not

abandon he's God who's here amen it's

good news let's go on to the next one

Jehovah Shalom the Lord our peace I love

peace I love peace and he is peace he is

perfect peace in Colossians 1:20 the

Colossians 1:20

word says and through him Jesus God

reconciled everything to himself he made

peace with everything in Heavenly in

heaven and on Earth by means of the

blood on the cross the blood

bought us into peace bought us into

God's availability of Peace because he

is peace and I'll tell you I love about

this word peace does not just mean like

our you know tranquil euphoric calm that

you might feel when everything's still

in silent and quiet and easy going peace

in this word Shalom it means wholeness

it means completeness it means nothing

missing nothing broken all things as

they should be that's real peace you

know I've had some real Quiet Moments

that weren't very peaceful can anybody

relate why because real peace isn't just

quiet it's not just a calm peace is

something that it has to be in your soul

as well as out and around you and you

know what I've had great peace in some

pretty chaotic times too I've had

moments where like our house is just a

mess and there's yelling and screaming

and you know mud

everywhere and I'm just sitting there in

peace you know grateful for the

blessings of God grateful for the the

things he's done in my life and you know

what it comes down to how aware am I of

the one that I'm near to how aware am I

of him who is peace who is present with

me peace is wholeness it's completeness

it's soundness it's Health it's safety

it's Prosperity all of that is a part of

Peace it's it's being well in every way

it's like the prayer Paul prays I I pray

that it would be well with you Spirit

soul and body what's that well that's

peace peace when things are well Psalm

23 is where we're going to go well I

don't know if we'll go and read we're

getting short on time this morning but I

even think in there you know we're going

to talk next about the Lord Our Shepherd

Rah Jehovah Rah the Lord Our Shepherd

and in Psalm 23 we get the picture of a

Shepherd who leads and I think about how

he leads us Green Pastures and Still

Waters I think you know that's it so

fits together because he is peace he

leads us to peace he cares for us in

peace I mean he he'll care through you

he he will care for you when you're not

in peace too but ultimately when you're

near to him it's always going to end in

peace it's always going to end in

wholeness and safety and completeness

because he is he is peace so let's go

into Jehovah Rah the Lord my shepherd I

love this image of a Shepherd because it

shows an intimate and a personal

relationship with each and every one of

us a Shepherd cares about every single

one of his sheep he considers the Sheep

he he cares for the Sheep he feeds the

Sheep he uh props up the Sheep he guards

the Sheep he directs the sheep and Jesus

is a perfect Shepherd that tells me he

is he is personal with me he's personal

with you he's your shepherd He is your

caretaker he is the one who Wants To Be

With You Mend You Lead You wisely defend

you and so I love this because it shows

us not only is he present and here with

us but what he does when he is here is

is so good for each and every one of us

a Shepherd works for the good of the

sheep for the good of the flock this is

what Jesus this is what God does he

works for the good of his people and not

only to like keep your life comfortable

and easy but you know a Shepherd has

plans for the Sheep we won't talk about

what those plans always are because

sometimes sheep get eaten and that's not

what happens in the flock of God okay so

just calm yourselves

down but sheep and a flock serve a

purpose right I mean and unless you're

one of those people that just love

having animals around and you just keep

them as pets some people do that most

Shepherds have a purpose for the sheep

and you know what they help the Sheep

grow and cultivate and develop so that

they can be useful Isn't that cool

too God will develop you God will use

you he will mature you he will cause you

to grow so that you can do something

useful in your own life and for his

kingdom and for his glory this is what

the shepherd does and this is who he is

so if you're with him you've got a

Shepherd you've got someone who is who

is more invested than anyone else could

ever be in your growth in your

development in your care cuz you know

what he bought you for a price no one

else would ever buy you for amen so he's

more invested in you than anyone else

could ever be I like that that was that

was extra that was good I like that

let's go to the next one Jehovah Gyra

anybody know what that means the Lord

will provide our

provider this means he meets our every

need in satisfaction completeness

fullness so when I have lack when I'm

facing a disparagement of something I

can to him who provides and I have no

question about what he's going to do who

is he well he's the Lord that

provides so what's the Lord that

provides going to do in a situation

where I need provision he's probably

going to provide

amen you see this is why it's so

important that we know who he is because

if we know that he is this and I am that

I am so I'm sure that he is and I know

that the blood has brought me near to

him well then when I look at the blood

it brings my awareness to the fact that

I'm close to the one who's the

provider and so my need has to be met

because I'm with the provider how can

the provider not provide how can the

provider with Heavenly Supply have lack

you see God is not a withholder of

Supply but he is a giver that's what a

provider does a provider gives to

satisfy and meet needs you know I think

some people have the impression that God

is a a h but not a

giver right oh God's he's got it I just

don't know if he'll help me with it I

don't know if he'll do it I don't know

if he'll answer that prayer he has it

but I don't

know they don't know that he's Jehovah

Gyra because Jehovah Gyra will provide

I'm the Lord will provide I mean how

much more direct can that get and so if

I'm questioning will the Lord provide

for me then I don't know Jehovah Gyra I

might know Jehovah shama I might know

Jehovah sidu which we'll get to in a

minute that I'm righteous and I'm saved

but

I need to know Jehovah Gyra I need to

know that he's my provider as well as my

righteousness as well as my peace as

well as my everpresent help in time of

need doesn't change who he is right I

mean he is who he is it's what the word

says so God is our provider he's not

just a h he's not a holder he's a

provider amen and so we we live in the

Redemptive benefit of provision because

the blood brought us close close to the

Lord will

provide I kind of like saying it that

way you know that the blood brought me

close to the Lord will provide doesn't

really seem like correct English but it

ministers to my heart the blood brought

me close to the Lord who will provide

let's go to the next one Jehovah ni the

Lord our Banner or you could say the

Lord our Victory our Victory Jehovah nii

the banner you know in

the archaic days banners would be taken

out before an army kind of like a flag
