  21. [Music]

  22. Good morning, church. Happy

  23. Easter. Are you guys excited to be in

  24. the house of the Lord? What a great day

  25. to come and worship our savior on the

  26. day that he was risen. Hallelujah. So

  27. this morning, we're just going to come

  28. and we're going to praise him. We're

  29. going to sing about how he came out of

  30. that grave and he brought us out of that

  31. grave with him. So, we're going to

  32. declare that this morning. Here we go.

  33. Surely it was

  34. through. Since when has

  35. impossible ever stopped

  36. you? Friday's

  37. disappointment is Sunday's empty too.

  38. Since when has

  39. impossible ever stopped

  40. [Applause]

  41. you? This is the sound of dry

  42. bones. This is the praise. Make a dead

  43. man walk

  44. again. Open the grave. I'm coming out.

  45. I'm going to live. Going to live again.

  46. This is the sound of

  47. [Music]

  48. Jon.

  49. [Music]

  50. Yeah. Pentecostal

  51. fire is stirring something

  52. new. You're not going to run out of

  53. miracles anytime soon.

  54. The resurrection

  55. power arrives in my veins,

  56. too. I believe there's another miracle

  57. here in this

  58. room. This is the sound of

  59. J. Come on, you believe

  60. it. This is the make a dead man walk

  61. again. Oh, baby, I'm coming out. I'm

  62. going to live. going to live again.

  63. Yeah. See the sound of

  64. dry.

  65. [Music]

  66. [Applause]

  67. Yeah. Come on. If you believe there's

  68. power in the name of Jesus in his

  69. resurrection life, that he overcame,

  70. that he rose. Hallelujah. Lord, we thank

  71. you for your

  72. life. If you walk down the grave, I'm

  73. walking to

  74. you. If you are down of the grave, I'm

  75. walking to

  76. [Music]

  77. you. If you walked out of the grave, I'm

  78. walking to you.

  79. If you are down at the grave I'm walking

  80. to. Yes. Yes. If you are down in the

  81. grave I'm walking

  82. to. Yeah. If you are down in the grave

  83. I'm walking

  84. to. Yeah. If you walk down the grave I'm

  85. walking to.

  86. You walk down the grave I'm walking

  87. to cuz there ain't no

  88. [Applause]

  89. [Music]

  90. [Applause]

  91. way that can hold my body

  92. down and there ain't

  93. [Music]

  94. nobody there.

  95. [Music]

  96. over from this

  97. sound. I'm going to ride down out of the

  98. ground cuz there ain't no

  99. grave

  100. [Music]

  101. nobody

  102. down.

  103. Hallelujah. Just say hallelujah.

  104. [Music]

  105. Oh

  106. [Music]

  107. [Applause]

  108. [Music]

  109. yeah. This is the sound. This is the

  110. sound of

  111. dr. This is the breeze. Make a dead man

  112. walk again.

  113. Open the grave. I'm coming out. I'm

  114. going to live. Going to live again. Open

  115. the grave. I'm coming out. I'm going to

  116. live. Going to live again. Open the

  117. grave. I'm coming out. I'm going to

  118. live. Going to live again. Let's say

  119. this is the sound.

  120. [Music]

  121. Drop. Yeah.

  122. [Music]

  123. My God is able to save and deliver and

  124. heal and restore anything that he wants

  125. to. Come on, let's confess this. My God

  126. is able to save and deliver and heal and

  127. restore anything. Come on. The empty

  128. tomb is the proof. He can do anything.

  129. My God is able to save and

  130. deliver him and restore anything that he

  131. wants to.

  132. Just ask a man who

  133. on

  134. [Music]

  135. the

  136. he just as the star was lost in the

  137. church

  138. again we got

  139. says I

  140. feel it now I feel it doing it now I

  141. Do it now. Do it now. Do it

  142. now. This is the sound of

  143. John. Yeah. This is the praise. Make a

  144. dead man walk

  145. again. Oh, the grave. I'm coming out.

  146. I'm going to live. Going to live again.

  147. Open the grave. I'm coming out. I'm

  148. going to live. Going to live again. Open

  149. your bra. I'm coming out. I'm going to

  150. live. Going to live

  151. again. This is the sound of

  152. trump.

  153. Hallelujah.

  154. Yeah. Yeah. Oh. Hallelujah. Come on.

  155. Give it up for the king. Give it up for

  156. the Lord. Hallelujah. Jesus.

  157. [Music]

  158. and see on the hill of

  159. Calvary my savior. Savior bled for me.

  160. My Jesus set me

  161. [Music]

  162. free. And look at the ones that give me

  163. life. Grace flowing from his side.

  164. There's no greater

  165. sacriice than what he's

  166. done. What he's

  167. done. All the glory and the honor to the

  168. son. My sins are

  169. forgiven. My future is

  170. heaven. I praise

  171. God for what he's

  172. done. Oh, we praise

  173. [Music]

  174. you and sing for the freedom he has won.

  175. Even death is dead and done. His life is

  176. overcome. Yes, he has to speak. Say the

  177. name above all names over every broken

  178. place. He's risen from the

  179. grave. What he's

  180. done. What he's done.

  181. [Music]

  182. All the glory and the honor to the

  183. son. My sins are

  184. forgiven. My future is

  185. heaven. I praise

  186. God for what he's done.

  187. [Music]

  188. And now on the throne of

  189. majesty, the father's wills come clean.

  190. He reigns in

  191. [Music]

  192. victory. Sing hallelujah to the king. He

  193. is worthy to receive all the worship we

  194. can bring. Now on the throne.

  195. Now on a throne of

  196. majesty, the father's works complete. He

  197. reigns in

  198. victory. Oh, and sing hallelujah to the

  199. king. He is worthy to receive all the

  200. worship we can

  201. bring. What he's

  202. done. What he's done.

  203. All the glory and the honor to the son.

  204. My sins are forgiven. My sins are

  205. for my future is

  206. heaven. I praise

  207. God. See what he's

  208. [Music]

  209. done. And what he's done.

  210. what he's

  211. done. All the glory and the honor to the

  212. son. My sins are

  213. forgiven. My future is

  214. heaven. I praise

  215. God for what he's

  216. done. I praise

  217. God for what he's done.

  218. [Music]

  219. I'm

  220. [Music]

  221. My hope is built on nothing

  222. less than Jesus blood and righteousness.

  223. I dare not trust the sweetest

  224. [Music]

  225. faith but only trust in Jesus name.

  226. [Music]

  227. My hope is built on nothing

  228. less than Jesus

  229. blood and righteousness.

  230. I dare not trust the sweetest

  231. friend. I only trust in Jesus

  232. name. Christ

  233. alone,

  234. cornerstone, weak made strong in the

  235. savior's love.

  236. through the

  237. [Music]

  238. stor seems to hide its face.

  239. [Music]

  240. is unchanging

  241. [Music]

  242. gra. Heat.

  243. [Music]

  244. [Applause]

  245. [Music]

  246. Heat. Heat. Heat.

  247. [Music]

  248. when he shall come with trumpet sound.

  249. Oh, may I then in him be

  250. found. Dressed in his

  251. righteousness

  252. [Music]

  253. alone. Faultless stand before the

  254. [Music]

  255. throne.

  256. [Music]

  257. Christ. Heat. Heat. Heat.

  258. [Music]

  259. Heat.

  260. Heat. Heat. Heat.

  261. [Music]

  262. Heat. Heat.

  263. [Music]

  264. I was a

  265. rich. I remember who I

  266. was. I was lost. I was

  267. blind. I was running out of

  268. time.

  269. Sin

  270. separated. The reach was far too

  271. wide. But from the far side of the

  272. chasm, you had me in your

  273. sight. So you made a

  274. way across the great divide.

  275. left behind heaven's

  276. throne to build it here

  277. inside there at the

  278. cross. You paid the debt I

  279. owe. Broke my chains, freed my

  280. soul. For the first time I had home.

  281. Thank you Jesus for the

  282. blood of

  283. life. Thank you Jesus you have wash me

  284. wine. Thank you Jesus you have saved my

  285. life. brought me from the darkness into

  286. glorious

  287. [Music]

  288. light. You took my place, laid inside my

  289. tomb of

  290. sin. You were buried for three days, but

  291. then you walked right out again.

  292. mountain has no

  293. say and life has no

  294. way for I have been

  295. transformed by the blood of the

  296. lamb. Oh, thank you Jesus for the

  297. blood of

  298. life. Thank you Jesus. It has wash me

  299. white.

  300. Thank you Jesus. You have saved my

  301. life. Brought me from the darkness into

  302. glorious

  303. light. There is nothing stronger than

  304. the wonder working power of the

  305. blood. The blood.

  306. because sons and

  307. daughters. We are ransomed by the father

  308. through the

  309. blood. The

  310. [Music]

  311. blood. There is nothing

  312. stronger than no one working power of

  313. the blood.

  314. The

  315. [Music]

  316. blood he calls us sons and

  317. daughters. We are ransom by the father

  318. through the

  319. blood. The

  320. [Music]

  321. blood. Thank you Jesus for the blood of

  322. life.

  323. Thank you Jesus. You have washed

  324. me. Thank you Jesus. You have saved my

  325. life. Brought me from the darkness into

  326. glorious

  327. [Music]

  328. light.

  329. Glory to his

  330. [Music]

  331. name.

  332. Gloryy to his

  333. [Music]

  334. name. There to my heart was the blood

  335. of

  336. glory to his name. Come on, let's just

  337. lift our hands and sing glory.

  338. Glory to his name.

  339. [Music]

  340. Glory to his

  341. [Music]

  342. name. Then to my heart was the blood of

  343. life.

  344. Glory to his name.

  345. [Music]

  346. Amen. Lord, we give you glory on this

  347. resurrection Sunday morning. We praise

  348. you for the work that's been complete in

  349. Christ's life once and for all time,

  350. delivered to us through the blood and

  351. the body of your son, Jesus. We're so

  352. grateful. We receive it with gladness.

  353. Lord, we just believe. We confess. We

  354. recognize and we celebrate that today,

  355. 2,000 years later, there is still an

  356. empty tomb. And we're so grateful

  357. because the empty tomb, Lord, is the

  358. proof that life is one. Jesus has

  359. overcome. And so we give you glory and

  360. praise today. Church, could you just

  361. celebrate for a moment with me the

  362. glorious news that Jesus is alive.

  363. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Jesus is alive

  364. today. Amen. Praise the Lord. Father, we

  365. do just honor the Lord today on this

  366. Easter Sunday. And uh church, we invite

  367. you to go ahead turn and tell somebody

  368. Jesus is alive today. So I've got a

  369. reason to

  370. celebrate and then you can take your

  371. [Music]

  372. seats. Praise the Lord. Well, it's such

  373. a wonderful time to be together. We love

  374. Easter. We love what Easter represents.

  375. And we're so grateful that you're here

  376. with us. We just want to say welcome to

  377. church. If we have anybody that's a

  378. first-time visitor today, we are just so

  379. so glad you're here. We're so glad you

  380. chose to come and worship and celebrate

  381. with us at ALM on Easter Sunday morning.

  382. And so very special time of year.

  383. Um here in just a minute, we're going to

  384. receive tithes and offering. If anybody

  385. needs an envelope for that as we

  386. prepare, you can put your hand up and

  387. one of our ushers will find you.

  388. Otherwise, we'll have some online

  389. options up in a minute. But um you know,

  390. in a minute, we're going to give because

  391. that's part of our worship, too. That's

  392. part of the way we just devote and walk

  393. in worship with our life toward the

  394. Lord. But before we get into uh giving

  395. this morning, I just wanted to celebrate

  396. a couple of things with you and

  397. acknowledge something uh for anybody who

  398. might be visiting this morning. Uh so

  399. first I wanted to give you all a recap

  400. on what we did yesterday. You know, our

  401. Easter celebrations really began

  402. yesterday morning at 11 uh when we held

  403. a community egg hunt. Something we've

  404. been doing for three years now. It just

  405. seems like every year it gets a little

  406. bit bigger and God brings more people on

  407. our campus and more people that we get

  408. an opportunity to give uh just a witness

  409. to the light and the joy that we have

  410. because of Jesus. And so we filled up

  411. about 2,000 eggs and people I think we

  412. were estimating 250 to maybe 300 people

  413. came out yesterday and kids picked up

  414. all our eggs. We had a train ride. We

  415. had a coloring contest and just some

  416. other fun things. And so for a whole

  417. hour, people were just here celebrating

  418. with us. Whether they knew that was why

  419. they were here or not, they were here

  420. celebrating resurrection life. And so we

  421. had a great opportunity to witness and

  422. shine light into our community. And so,

  423. um, if you're visiting today as a result

  424. of that egg hunt, if you were there and

  425. then you thought, I'll come back

  426. tomorrow, uh, we just want to say

  427. welcome. We are so glad that you are

  428. here on this Easter Sunday. Uh, the best

  429. part of Easter isn't the eggs. It's not

  430. the train ride. It's Jesus and the empty

  431. tomb. It is the living risen savior is

  432. the reason we really celebrate. And so

  433. uh we're glad to do that with you this

  434. morning. And I just want to say also

  435. thank you to all the volunteers who came

  436. early who worked weeks ahead of time to

  437. make everything happen. It was a great

  438. great day. And so we give all the glory

  439. to God. Amen. All glory to him for a

  440. great great event on this Easter

  441. weekend. Um one other thing because I

  442. know we do have visitors here with us

  443. this morning. If you are visiting or you

  444. come here regularly and you have a young

  445. child this morning we are not going to

  446. have child care services available. Most

  447. weeks we have nursery preschool and a

  448. first through sixth grade class that

  449. meet for service. This week because of

  450. Easter we're going to keep everybody in

  451. here together. But if you have a child

  452. who's struggling to make it through the

  453. service or needs a break or you know

  454. they may need uh changed or something

  455. like that, we have a mother's room

  456. that's down that hallway on the way to

  457. the restrooms. if you need to use the

  458. mother's room or a restroom and can't

  459. find it, find one of our ushers in the

  460. blue polos and they'll direct you where

  461. you need to go. And we also have a

  462. nursery with, you know, toys and

  463. different things and we'll have our

  464. service streaming to a TV in that room.

  465. If you have a child that um is of

  466. nursery or preschool age and they need

  467. to go out at some point during the

  468. service, you can feel free to utilize

  469. our nursery room, but you will need to

  470. be with your child because we don't have

  471. any any uh volunteers providing care for

  472. them this morning. So, just those couple

  473. of announcements for you. Um, we're

  474. going to give this morning. We believe

  475. giving is part of the way we worship,

  476. part of the way we offer our life to the

  477. Lord, something every believer in Christ

  478. is called to do. And so, I'd like to go

  479. to Matthew chapter 6 with you this

    Matthew 6 chapter mention

  480. morning. One of my very favorite verses,

  481. passages of scripture related to giving,

  482. to offering, to tithes. And, um, Jesus

  483. is teaching specifically about the

  484. difference between the world's way of

  485. living and the kingdom of heaven way of

  486. living. And they are so different in so

  487. many ways that when we accept Jesus, we

  488. step into a kingdom that has a different

  489. way of doing things. You know, Jesus

  490. said when he was given his sermon on the

  491. mount, wide is the path that leads to

  492. destruction and many follow it, but

  493. narrow is the way. Specific is the way,

  494. the path that leads to life. And so

  495. Jesus is that path. And he shows us how

  496. we walk that path with him. In Matthew

  497. 6, I believe is part of that. It says in

  498. verse 19 of Matthew chapter 6, Jesus is

    Matthew 6 chapter mention

  499. teaching. He says, "Don't store up

  500. treasures here on earth where moths eat

  501. them and rust destroys them and where

  502. thieves break in and steal." He says,

  503. "Store your treasures in heaven where

  504. moth and rust cannot destroy and thieves

  505. do not break in and steal. Wherever your

  506. treasure is, there the desires of your

  507. heart will also be." I love about this

  508. verse two things. First of all, Jesus

  509. shows us a kingdom perspective when it

  510. comes to material possessions and

  511. giving, the things we value, the things

  512. we accumulate. Jesus is putting our

  513. value system into check with the

  514. kingdom. And what he's saying is there

  515. is a whole eternity in front of us, a

  516. whole eternity to be lived after life on

  517. this earth. And so don't just live,

  518. don't just store, don't just give, don't

  519. just spend for right now, but spend with

  520. that eternity in mind because we're

  521. going to spend a whole lot longer on the

  522. other side of this life on earth than we

  523. will spend here. And I see this this

  524. temporariness of this life represented

  525. by the things Jesus expresses. He says,

  526. "Where moths eat and rust destroy and

  527. thieves steal." What is he saying? He's

  528. saying that it's so short. The time we

  529. have on earth, the the time we hold on

  530. to possessions that we have here, it's

  531. it's so short. It's so short. It's just

  532. a moment. And its effectiveness is so

  533. limited because things we may have here,

  534. you know, they're going to come and then

  535. they're going to go. But he says there

  536. are things that are eternal in nature.

  537. Things that never corrode, never lose

  538. value, never get stolen, or never taken

  539. away. And that's the heavenly treasure.

  540. These things that never lose their

  541. value. And what is heavenly treasure?

  542. Well, I believe storing up heaven he

  543. heavenly treasure is when we do things

  544. that give God glory. His name being

  545. glorified is eternal treasure. No one

  546. can ever reduce, take away, corrupt, or

  547. steal. Glory given to his name. Can you

  548. say amen to that? Eternal treasure.

  549. That's souls one to the kingdom of

  550. light. Brought out of darkness into

  551. glorious light. Like we were just

  552. singing a minute ago, that's eternal

  553. treasure. The word says heaven rejoices

  554. when one person gets saved. And so

  555. that's an eternal treasure. lives

  556. affected for eternity. And when we give

  557. tithes and offerings to God, there is

  558. something of eternal worth, an eternal

  559. treasure, glory to God, a soul changed

  560. for eternity stored up forever. He uses

  561. these things to bring glory to his name

  562. and open eyes to the light and truth. So

  563. when we give, the reason it's storing up

  564. eternal treasure isn't because, you

  565. know, the church's bank account is a

  566. heavenly bank account. It's not that.

  567. It's what is accomplished through the

  568. giving is something that God sees as

  569. eternally valuable. And that's the kind

  570. of treasure I want my life, our life,

  571. our church's life together to store up.

  572. And so that's part number one. And quick

  573. with you, here's the second part I love

  574. about this teaching. Jesus says, "Our

  575. heart is drawn to what we give to." He

  576. says, "Where your treasure is, there

  577. your heart will be also." And this just

  578. this this amazed me the first time I I

  579. had insight to this in scripture. Jesus

  580. is saying what you put your value in,

  581. what you put your money in, your

  582. treasure in, the things of worth on this

  583. earth, where you put those things,

  584. that's where your heart will be, what

  585. it's going to be drawn to is the things

  586. that you store your treasure up in. And

  587. so I'll tell you, if you want your

  588. heart's desire to be drawn to the Lord

  589. and drawn to his kingdom and drawn to

  590. eternity, then sew into eternity, sew

  591. into his kingdom, sew into his glory.

  592. And your heart's desire will become more

  593. and more aligned with him. I just can

  594. say this. I want my heart and all its

  595. desires to be with the one who leads to

  596. life. Can you say amen to that, church?

  597. And so this morning as our ushers come

  598. forward and we prepare to give tithes

  599. and offerings, I just want to encourage

  600. you in this this action of giving, it

  601. brings God glory. It affects, it

  602. ministers, it it brings gospel to

  603. people's lives and changes their

  604. eternities forever. And that's an

  605. eternal treasure. And so how do we store

  606. up eternal treasures? Well, giving is

  607. one way we can do that. And I'll tell

  608. you this, too. Something in your heart

  609. will change as you give. As you give

  610. willingly, you give obediently, you give

  611. to the glory of God, your heart is going

  612. to be drawn more and more to his

  613. kingdom. And I just can tell you from my

  614. life experiencing and maybe trying out

  615. different things along the way, there is

  616. no better kingdom than the kingdom of

  617. our Lord and Savior Jesus. Can you say

  618. amen to that, church? Let's pray over

  619. this offering this morning and receive

  620. it for his glory. Father, we do thank

  621. you for your many blessings upon us this

  622. day. We recognize such a great blessing,

  623. new life available in Christ. But we

  624. recognize, Lord, you provide for our

  625. needs. You bless us in many other ways.

  626. Your grace is sufficient for every good

  627. work. You meet our needs over and above

  628. so that we have our needs met, but then

  629. we can do more and be generous also.

  630. Lord, thank you for providing for us.

  631. And I just ask as we give this morning

  632. that you would be glorified and what is

  633. given here would be used to spread your

  634. kingdom to extend the borders of people

  635. who know your name who praise your name

  636. who give you glory who serve as a part

  637. of your body. Lord I pray that lives

  638. would be touched and forever changed

  639. through what is given this morning and

  640. thereby eternal treasure would be stored

  641. up in heaven. I pray that as this

  642. offering is given today, your name would

  643. be glorified, thereby storing up eternal

  644. treasure in heaven. And Lord, I pray

  645. that for each and every person who gives

  646. here this morning, your word which

  647. always comes to pass would be true once

  648. again and our hearts would be drawn

  649. closer and deeper to you. Lord, I pray

  650. these things in the powerful name of

  651. Jesus. And we believe that they are so.

  652. And so it's in Jesus name that we say.

  653. Amen. Amen. Well, we believe it's

  654. blessed as it's given this morning. and

  655. Miss Julie Carlson has something to

  656. share. Please do come up and share.

  657. I know many of you guys are in the in

  658. the front, but I just got overwhelmed

  659. with the presence of God being in the

  660. back and seeing our ushers try to find

  661. more chairs. And I've been going to this

  662. church since I was about 15. Um, Pastor

  663. Dave and Becky invited me to come live

  664. with them when I was not in a good

  665. place. My mother had chosen to come to

  666. this church and it made a world of

  667. difference in my life and in her life

  668. and I just want to welcome you if this

  669. is your first time. I just feel like

  670. it's a dream come true to see people

  671. really run around and trying to get

  672. chairs. So, this is a great place to get

  673. to know God more. I've made a lot of

  674. mistakes in my life and this is a

  675. forgiving um church and I remember

  676. Pastor David a lot of times talking

  677. about it being like a hospital when

  678. people are in need of being um being

  679. whole and just finding forgiveness and

  680. the wounds and so I know that God wants

  681. us to prosper in all things in body,

  682. mind and spirit. So I just welcome you

  683. to abundant life. Donna Sutton who

  684. usually does many welcoming is gone. So,

  685. I just felt like the presence of God was

  686. ushering me to welcome everybody. If

  687. it's your first time, uh, please feel

  688. welcome and come back more. Thank you.

  689. Thank you,

  690. Julie. I mean, everybody expects the

  691. pastor to welcome you, right? But, I

  692. mean, we really do welcome you. We're so

  693. glad you all are here today. And, uh,

  694. what Julie just shared, it reminds me of

  695. something Jesus said. You know, he said,

  696. "The the healthy are not the ones that

  697. need a physician, but the sick." and he

  698. said, "I am the great physician." And

  699. so, um, healing, restoration, refreshing

  700. life is what Jesus said he's all about.

  701. And so, we are so glad you're here to

  702. get some life from him today. Amen. Uh,

  703. it's he's the one that we get our life

  704. from. Um, I have another person I'd like

  705. to welcome up this morning. Miss

  706. Samantha Simmons is going to come up.

  707. She is our missionary partner with um,

  708. one of our international missionaries.

  709. And so she's going to introduce them and

  710. share a video with us with you this

  711. morning about kingdom work going on in a

  712. different part of the world. Thank you,

  713. Sam. Good. Thank you. Is this on? Yes.

  714. All right. Perfect. Um, so this uh

  715. month's missionary spotlight is uh Kevin

  716. and Andrea Culie and they have a

  717. ministry over in Southeast Souththeast

  718. Asia and they also have a local church

  719. in Alabama. So this video um Pastor

  720. Kevin's going to give you a little bit

  721. of an update what he's been doing in all

  722. those realms realms. So

  723. enjoy. Hey Pastor Isaac and Abundant

  724. Life Church. And I just want to pop in

  725. and give you an update on the difference

  726. that you've made and that you are making

  727. in the nation of salvation. India now

  728. the most populated nation on the planet

  729. with pushing 1.6 billion people. Can you

  730. imagine? And I just got back from

  731. spending about a month in our ministry

  732. over there. And wow, celebrating 25

  733. years this year of ministering in India

  734. and you have a huge part in the eternal

  735. fruit that's coming out of Embassy of

  736. Hope and that nation. We've got about

  737. 1,500 Bible school grads and we wanted

  738. to do an inventory of what's the impact

  739. that we've made. So, I interviewed four

  740. of these grads, and we're already over a

  741. million souls saved, hundreds of

  742. churches planted, and thousands of

  743. leaders trained. Wow. I just wanted to

  744. say thank you and continue to invest in

  745. things that have an EOI,

  746. eternal return on investment. Where else

  747. can you take a temporary thing like a

  748. dollar and turn it into an eternal thing

  749. like a soul or a local church? It's

  750. awesome. You know, I was just there

  751. preaching in a church that I helped

  752. plant back in 1992. I know, right? I

  753. must have been like 8 years old, right?

  754. No, but it's amazing to see the ripple

  755. effect of the influence that continues

  756. to just to ripple out into eternity from

  757. one act of what seemed to be small

  758. obedience. I was ministering in a Bible

  759. school I helped plant years ago and

  760. they've turned out thousands of leaders

  761. and just one step of faith, one step of

  762. obedience and the influence that just

  763. continues to echo and echo and create

  764. and generate momentum for the kingdom of

  765. God. So, we're building a Bible school

  766. over there. We've got two out of three

  767. levels completed. We've started the

  768. third level. We need about 150 grand to

  769. finish up that building project until we

  770. move on to the next one. But I'm telling

  771. you, I'm so proud of our Bible school

  772. grads and I'm so thankful for people

  773. like you that pray for us and invest

  774. into what we're doing and to other

  775. eternal projects. And so I just wanted

  776. to say we love you and already over a

  777. million souls, thousands of leaders,

  778. hundreds of churches. Well, at least so

  779. far. But the best is yet to come. Thank

  780. you and we love

  781. [Music]

  782. you.

  783. Awesome. Tell you there's there's great

  784. work going on all over the world and

  785. it's because we belong to a kingdom of

  786. life. Amen. And Jesus proved that on uh

  787. resurrection day about 2,000 years ago.

  788. Uh the disciples found an empty tomb.

  789. And uh today we still celebrate that.

  790. And so I know you've probably already

  791. heard it this morning, but happy Easter.

  792. Happy resurrection day. That's what

  793. Easter is all about. I mean, we

  794. recognize the cross, but we celebrate

  795. the empty tomb. Amen. We celebrate the

  796. fact that Jesus didn't stay dead. We are

  797. thankful that he died for our sins and

  798. took upon himself all of our sin, all of

  799. our unrighteousness, washed us white as

  800. snow, bringing us forgiveness by his

  801. blood. But uh it's it's the empty tomb

  802. that proves there's new life for us.

  803. Proves that he made a way for us to be

  804. made new, born again. And so here we are

  805. two millennia later and the grave is

  806. still empty. Jesus is still alive. Sin

  807. and death are still defeated. Salvation

  808. and freedom are still ours. Can you say

  809. hallelujah for that this morning? We're

  810. so glad. The resurrection has changed

  811. countless billions of lives and

  812. eternities from darkness to life to

  813. light. And we're so grateful for that.

  814. You know, as I think about uh the news

  815. of the empty grave, there's a phrase

  816. that comes to mind for me. Too good to

  817. be true. Have you ever heard that said?

  818. I'm sure you have. Too good to be true.

  819. Sometimes you hear about a way to make

  820. money or something that happened and

  821. somebody says, "Yeah, but it's too good

  822. to be true." What does that mean? Well,

  823. you really can't believe it. You really

  824. can't believe what you're hearing

  825. because it's just too good to be real.

  826. You know, the news about the empty tomb,

  827. the news about new life in Christ is too

  828. good to be true. With man's ability,

  829. there's no way that what Jesus did is

  830. possible. But it reminds me of something

  831. that Jesus said in Matthew 19:26. With

    Matthew 19:26

  832. man it's impossible, but with God all

  833. things are possible. Amen. And so this

  834. news that we celebrate on Easter Sunday,

  835. resurrection day, it is too good to be

  836. true, but we have a God who does the

  837. impossible. We have a God who makes too

  838. good to be true true. And so we

  839. celebrate that today. And I'm going to

  840. go to John chapter 20 as we get started

    John 20 chapter mention

  841. this morning on a message titled Simply

  842. Continue to Believe. These are words

  843. Jesus spoke to the first people that

  844. received this too good to be true news.

  845. His disciples, you know, they were there

  846. the night he was arrested. They were

  847. there, some of them to observe his

  848. beating, his crucifixion. Some of them

  849. saw his body placed in the tomb. And so

  850. they knew without a doubt Jesus had been

  851. beaten, Jesus had been crucified, that

  852. Jesus died, and that he had been buried

  853. in a grave. And so when they heard this

  854. news that Jesus was alive, it seemed too

  855. good to be true. And the truth is many

  856. of them at first did not believe. After

  857. they had seen the many things Jesus took

  858. upon himself, they were afraid. They

  859. were without purpose. They were

  860. hopeless. And even though Jesus had told

  861. them all through the time they were

  862. walking and ministering together that he

  863. would rise again, that he would die, but

  864. he would rise to new life, they still

  865. doubted. I would say it to you like this

  866. today. Even though Jesus had promised

  867. them resurrection, all they could see

  868. was the grave. All they could see was

  869. the grave. All they could see was the

  870. death. And so when they received word

  871. that the tomb was empty, that angels

  872. were there saying Jesus had risen, that

  873. he was no longer there, when Mary had

  874. seen him, and two disciples had walked

  875. with him on the Emmas road, there was

  876. still disbelief, doubt in some of them.

  877. They chose not to believe what they were

  878. hearing because it seemed too good to be

  879. true. And I'd like to look at one

  880. specific disciple who's been given just

  881. the loveliest nickname through history,

  882. doubting Thomas. Have you ever heard of

  883. this guy before? Doubting Thomas. And

  884. how would you like that to be the

  885. moniker through history for you? You

  886. know, doubting David, doubting Sam,

  887. doubting Omega. Thank you for that very

  888. much. No, you know, doubting Thomas or

  889. I'm just going to call him Thomas if

  890. that's okay with you. Because did you

  891. know in the Bible Jesus only calls him

  892. Thomas? There's acknowledgement that he

  893. doubted, but Jesus never identifies him,

  894. labels him as a doubter. And aren't you

  895. glad Jesus doesn't do that to you?

  896. Aren't you glad Jesus doesn't take you

  897. at your worst moment on your worst day

  898. and say that's how you're going to be

  899. known through the rest of history? No.

  900. We have a different identity and an

  901. identity of life in Christ. And I'll say

  902. I'll say this as well. Uh we won't go

  903. over to Luke chapter 24, but it shows us

    Luke 24 chapter mention

  904. Thomas wasn't the only one that was

  905. doubting. He was just the one that was

  906. identified in John chapter 20. And so he

    John 20 chapter mention

  907. was singled out, but he was not the only

  908. one in doubt after the resurrection. He

  909. was not the only one struggling with

  910. this news that was just too good to be

  911. true. In John 20 24, it says, "One of

  912. the 12 disciples, Thomas, nicknamed the

  913. twin, was not with the others when Jesus

  914. came." And so Jesus, he had resurrected.

  915. He had already appeared to some. But

  916. then he came to this room where all the

  917. disciples except Thomas were gathered

  918. together and he appeared and he spoke to

  919. them. He ministered to them. And so they

  920. believed. They had seen. They had

  921. experienced and been with Jesus. They

  922. they had touched and known and heard and

  923. seen with their own eyes the

  924. resurrection life. And so they believed.

  925. But Thomas, who wasn't there when it

  926. happened, he said this. When they told

  927. him, "We have seen the Lord." He

  928. replied, "I won't believe it unless I

  929. see the nail wounds in his hands, put my

  930. fingers into them, and place my hand

  931. into the wound on his side." You see,

  932. because Thomas wasn't there, because he

  933. hadn't seen with his own eyes, he

  934. resolves to the mankind reasoning in his

  935. mind, I won't believe unless I see it.

  936. In this moment, what Thomas was really

  937. saying was, "I trust what I see more

  938. than what evidence is pointing to, more

  939. than what other Christ followers are

  940. testifying of, more than what Jesus

  941. himself said by his word was going to

  942. happen." Thomas was saying, "I trust my

  943. senses more than what the Lord said,

  944. more than what these disciples are

  945. testifying about, more than what

  946. evidence of an empty tomb and angels in

  947. the garden would point to." He's saying,

  948. "I trust my eyes more than what God has

  949. done." And even with overwhelming

  950. evidence witnessing to the reality of

  951. resurrection, he still chose to doubt.

  952. I'd say it again. All Thomas could see

  953. was the grave. He was missing out on the

  954. resurrection life, missing out on the

  955. reality of new life coming out of the

  956. grave because his eyes were blinded,

  957. overshadowed by the prospect of death.

  958. It's easy to look at Thomas, and I think

  959. we all probably do this. We look at

  960. Thomas and we think, "Well, if I was

  961. Thomas, I wouldn't have doubted. If I

  962. had been Thomas, surely I would have

  963. believed." Because we're just so much

  964. more spiritual than the disciples were,

  965. right? And we think that. I think that

  966. I' I'd like to believe if I was in

  967. Thomas's position, surely I would have

  968. believed when I heard the word.

  969. But you know, if I really think about

  970. it, the reality is that most of us, and

  971. if we're being honest, all of us at some

  972. point have been in the position of

  973. doubting what the Lord has said. All of

  974. us at some point have chosen not to

  975. believe the word because of what we're

  976. sensing in oursel. So many people today

  977. are are alive and living in this earth.

  978. People that Jesus died and rose to save,

  979. but they don't believe. They miss out on

  980. eternal life. They miss out on hope and

  981. joy. They miss out on the love of God

  982. and connection to our abiding substance

  983. of life because they're blinded by the

  984. grave. All they can see is the grave.

  985. All they can see is the brokenness in

  986. the world. All they can see is their own

  987. shortcomings or maybe their own

  988. greatness. And they miss out on the life

  989. of Christ because they're overwhelmed by

  990. the grave of this world.

  991. I know in myself there have been times

  992. where I miss out on freedom God has in

  993. store for me because it seems like the

  994. control of sin is so blinding. There's

  995. times I've missed out on healing because

  996. I'm so focused and attentive to pain

  997. that I miss out on the word of promise

  998. that Jesus by his stripes healed me.

  999. There's times where I've missed out on

1000. the knowing of acceptance and love in my

1001. life because the voice of rejection in

1002. my mind was so blaringly loud. There's

1003. times where I've missed out on the

1004. reality of righteousness because my

1005. awareness of self-righteousness or self

1006. unrighteousness takes over my thoughts.

1007. There's times I've missed out on the

1008. heavenly plan because I've been blinded

1009. by the distractions of the world. All of

1010. these just another example of missing

1011. resurrection life because I'm fixated on

1012. the grave. See, the problem is when all

1013. we can see is the grave, we refuse to

1014. believe the good news because of what we

1015. see. If we let what we see stand in the

1016. way of the good news, we miss out on the

1017. resurrection life that's been offered to

1018. us. When we fixate on the lack of

1019. freedom, the lack of righteousness, the

1020. lack of wisdom, when we see only the

1021. lack of life, we miss out on

1022. experiencing and living today this kind

1023. of life. Jesus said, "I have come that

1024. they might have abundant life." There's

  1025. people I've heard today say, "I won't

  1026. believe unless I see. I won't believe

1027. unless." You know, that's the same thing

1028. Thomas who was doubting said, "I won't

1029. believe it unless I see the nails, the

1030. holes that they put in his hands. I

  1031. won't believe unless I I touch the hole

1032. that the spear pierced in his side." And

1033. you know, we might not say that today,

1034. but I've heard so many times, you know,

  1035. I'll believe it when I see it. I'll

1036. believe that God heals when this

1037. happens. I'll believe that God can

1038. really change a life when this happens.

1039. I I believe that God really loves me

  1040. when this

1041. happens. And what we're doing, you can

1042. put any kind of nice word you want on

1043. it. The truth is all that is is is

  1044. doubt. More doubt and

1045. disbelief. And I want to tell you this

1046. morning on Resurrection Sunday, there's

  1047. a resurrection to Thomas's story. Doubt

1048. was not the end of Thomas's story. And

1049. doubt does not have to be the end of the

1050. story for any person that's in this room

1051. today. Any person who will hear and

1052. believe the word of the Lord. You see,

1053. because Jesus interjected into Thomas's

1054. life a word that brought him freedom. In

1055. John 20, continuing into verse 26 says,

1056. 8 days later, after Thomas had doubted,

  1057. had made these statements, I won't

1058. believe unless I see and I feel. Eight

1059. days later, the disciples were together

1060. again, and this time Thomas was with

1061. them. The doors were locked. But

1062. suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing

1063. among them. Peace be with you, he said.

1064. Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger

1065. here. Look at my hands. Put your hand

1066. into the wound in my side. Don't be

1067. faithless any longer. Believe." Thomas

1068. says, "My Lord and my God." And then

1069. Jesus told him, "You believe because you

1070. have seen me. Blessed are those who

1071. believe without seeing me." The

1072. disciples saw Jesus do many other

1073. miraculous signs in additions to the one

1074. recorded in the book of John. But these

1075. are written so you may continue to

1076. believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the

1077. son of God, and that by believing in

1078. him, you will have life by the power of

1079. his name. So what we see through

1080. Thomas's doubt is Jesus shows up and he

1081. speaks to Thomas. Jesus knowing the

1082. doubt, the fear, the hopelessness, the

1083. disbelief in his heart, he says

1084. something. He he commands something. He

1085. gives instruction. And this is what he

1086. says. Don't be faithless, but

  1087. believe. Another translation reads,

  1088. "Don't be

1089. unbelieving, but believe." See, Jesus

1090. word to Thomas who was doubting was to

1091. call him to faith, call him to belief,

1092. and for Thomas to respond. And this is

1093. the same thing Jesus would call anybody

1094. doubting about any part of his promise

1095. to today. Believe. Trust him. Extend

1096. your confidence toward him. Do not be

1097. unbelieving, but believe. I want you to

1098. know Jesus is calling you to believe

  1099. today. I believe the reason I'm

1100. preaching this this morning is because

1101. there is somebody that Jesus wants to

1102. call to. Jesus is calling to saying,

1103. "Believe today. Choose to trust today.

1104. Be confident that the word is true

1105. today. You might have gone through some

1106. period of life thinking, you know what?

  1107. I I can't believe it. I won't believe it

1108. unless unless unless unless I see. I

1109. want you to hear today. Jesus is calling

1110. out to you. Believe. Trust in him. The

1111. word says in 2 Corinthians 6:2, "Today

    2 Corinthians 6:2

1112. is the day of salvation. Today is the

1113. day to receive saving life to yourself.

1114. Don't wait for another day. Don't wait

1115. for another call. Say yes to believing

1116. in Jesus today. Maybe for someone that's

1117. hearing this message, saying yes to

1118. believing in Jesus today means trusting

1119. that he paid the ransom. He paid for my

1120. sin and he has saved me from an eternity

1121. in hell. There might be people you've

1122. never believed that that's true. Believe

1123. it today. God is calling you to trust on

1124. that promise. But you know what? There

1125. might be someone else. You might need

1126. today to believe in another part of

1127. God's promise which has been completed

1128. in Christ. Just like we could say, you

1129. know, don't be unbelieving, but believe

1130. God for salvation. Well, I would say

1131. don't be unbelieving, but believe in

  1132. Jesus for healing. Don't don't be

1133. unbelieving, but believe in Jesus for

1134. freedom from your sin. If you've

1135. struggled with sin and you think,

  1136. "There's just no way out. I just can't

1137. do it." You're probably right. You can't

1138. do it. But you know what? Jesus made a

1139. way for you to be set free. And so

1140. believe on him today. Trust in him today

1141. and see your freedom come. Don't be

1142. unbelieving, but believe in his love for

1143. you. Don't be unbelieving, but believe

1144. that you've been equipped with grace for

1145. a reason to fulfill a plan. If you

1146. struggle with purpose, struggle with

1147. feeling like you're just wandering

1148. through life. Believe in Jesus today and

1149. experience purpose of heaven, eternal

1150. divine purpose come for your life.

1151. says in the word, "These things are

1152. written so that you may continue to

1153. believe." We need to hear the story of

1154. Jesus so that our hearts are called back

1155. to belief. You know, the word says in

1156. Romans 10, "Faith comes by hearing and

1157. hearing by the word of God." When we

1158. hear the word of God, it calls us to

1159. believe. You know, you might think,

1160. well, if Jesus would just show up and I

1161. could see him like Thomas, that'd be

1162. great. But you know what? The word says

1163. faith comes not by Jesus coming down out

1164. of heaven and showing up to you. It says

1165. faith comes by hearing and hearing by

1166. the word of God. The Holy Spirit

1167. witnesses to the truth of these things

1168. in your heart. You don't need a a seeing

1169. reality. You need the inward witness of

1170. the Holy Spirit and the confirmation of

1171. the word of God to believe. If the Bible

1172. says it, you need to believe it. And

1173. that should be the end of it. Amen. This

1174. is what we're called to live. Belief in

1175. Christ. And the word was given to us so

1176. that we may continue to believe. You

1177. know, the Bible is a witness that

1178. enables us to believe and have faith.

1179. The word stirs us in our belief. And I

1180. just had this thought. If we would just

1181. remove doubt, all that would be left is

1182. belief. You know, I think that is part

1183. of the issue. We can sometimes get so

1184. used to a pattern of doubting, of

1185. trusting our eyes and our senses more

1186. than what the word says. Maybe you've

1187. been let down by people in your life.

1188. And so, you don't just take people at

1189. your word. Let me tell you, God will

1190. never let you down. He will never fail

1191. you. And so you can take God at his

1192. word. Amen. You can believe God and you

1193. will not be disappointed. If we would

1194. remove the doubt, all that would be left

1195. for us is to trust and to believe. I

  1196. don't want to be a doubter. I I don't

1197. want to be looked back at in life and be

  1198. called doubting

1199. Isaac. No, I want to be believing. I

1200. want to be one who believed, who trusted

1201. God. And so with the time we have left

1202. this morning, if I could unpack this

1203. word belief for you a little bit, I'd

1204. like to dive into what does it mean to

1205. believe? Because I really I think there

1206. are some misconceptions about what

  1207. believe actually

  1208. means. I've got a couple definitions

1209. we'll put up on the screen. These are

1210. the Hebrew and the Greek words for

1211. believe. The Hebrew word for believe is

1212. aman. Sounds kind of like a word we say

1213. at the end of prayer, doesn't it? I'm

1214. on. And what it means is this is a sure

1215. thing. This is something I can count on.

  1216. This is

  1217. firm. It's a connection to and a trust

1218. in God. This is what the Hebrew word for

1219. believe means. Pistus, which is the

1220. Greek word for believe or faith is

1221. another way this translates, means to

1222. support, a conviction of truth, to put

1223. your trust and your reliance into

1224. something. And so what we have here is

1225. this picture. Belief is something that

1226. supports. It upholds. It's something

1227. that like takes the weight of our life.

1228. Something we put our our hope in.

1229. Something we put our conviction in. Uh

1230. constant connection that we have. Real

1231. belief is when we put our trust and our

1232. reliance fully in Christ. That's what

1233. these words show us. Real belief is to

1234. put our trust and our reliance in

1235. Christ. real belief, biblical belief is

  1236. more than intellectual

  1237. agreement. And I think that's so

1238. important to clear up because the world

1239. I mean the world will just believe

  1240. anything. I mean I I I have like a

1241. thousand pieces of information come

1242. across my phone screen in a day and I

1243. just have to choose. Am I going to

1244. believe that or not? Am I going to

1245. intellectually agree with that or not?

1246. Biblical belief is different. Biblical

1247. belief isn't just something that we

1248. accept in our mind. It is something we

1249. base our life on. To believe in the

1250. biblical sense means I am going to put

1251. the weight of my life into this thing. I

1252. am going to rely and trust upon it. It's

  1253. faith. It's confident reliance. It's

1254. putting our trust in God. Real belief is

1255. when we draw on the things that he says

1256. in the word that he does for us that he

1257. says in the word that he gives to us.

1258. Real belief is to act with trust and

1259. confidence. Did you know that to be a

1260. believer means you actually live like

1261. you believe in Jesus? This is why

1262. something should change. This is why our

1263. life starts to look different when we

1264. receive Jesus. It's not because now I

1265. just am trying so hard. It's because

1266. when our beliefs change, our lives

1267. change. When our beliefs change, what we

1268. rely on, what we trust in, what we hold

1269. to be sure and true changes and that

1270. changes the course of our life.

1271. Real belief is to risk reliance. It's to

1272. depend upon in a way where if it fails,

1273. I could I could get hurt. I could get in

1274. trouble. Things could go bad if it

1275. doesn't work out. But real belief risks

1276. relying on Jesus. Amen. Real belief

1277. risks relying on Jesus. It's to put some

1278. weight in his word. You know, as I was

1279. thinking about belief this week, I

1280. thought having a visual example would be

1281. the best way I could explain the

1282. difference between worldly belief and

1283. biblical belief. And so, this is a

1284. simple little thing, but here's two

1285. chairs. That looks like a pretty good

  1286. chair,

1287. right? How about this one? So, we've got

1288. two chairs here. What I would tell you

1289. about belief, this chair, I believe in

1290. this chair like I believe in the word.

1291. I'll put my weight on this chair. I will

1292. use this chair. I will live in this

1293. chair. I'll do something with this

1294. chair. But you are out of your mind if

1295. you think I'm going to sit on that this

1296. morning. No one wants to see that

1297. happen. You see, because the problem is,

1298. is this a chair? Sure it

1299. is. Am I going to use it like it's a

1300. chair? Absolutely not. Why? Because I I

  1301. don't trust that. I can't rely on that.

1302. I'm not going to act with this thing.

1303. I'm not going to do with this thing.

1304. What I would tell you is I don't really

1305. believe in this chair. I might believe

1306. it is a chair. I might believe it exists

1307. on this stage. I won't deny that. But

1308. will I risk putting my trust in that?

1309. Will I risk sitting in that, relying in

1310. that, standing on that, using that?

1311. Would I give a guest in my home that?

1312. No. because I don't really believe in

1313. it. You get what I'm saying this

1314. morning? Here is the difference between

1315. worldly belief in God and in Jesus and

1316. biblical Christlike belief in the word

1317. and in Jesus. If I truly believe the

1318. word, then I depend on the word. I rely

1319. on the word. I'll put my weight into the

1320. word. I would say it like this. I'll be

1321. a doer of the word because doing the

1322. word means I'm trusting what God says

1323. above my own reasoning. Isn't that the

1324. truth to do something that doesn't make

1325. sense to me? You know, to to give when

1326. it makes more sense in my mind to

1327. keep when I'm called to forgive but it

1328. feels a lot better to myself to hold a

1329. grudge. What am I doing? Well, when I'm

1330. forgiving, I'm believing that what the

  1331. Bible says is true.

  1332. When I'm giving, I'm believing it's more

1333. blessed to give than it is to receive.

1334. When I am feeling pain in my body and

1335. all I want to do is is talk about the

1336. hurt, talk about the pain, glorify the

1337. problem, but I I believe that the word

1338. says by Jesus stripes I'm healed. And I

1339. I stand on that. I put my weight on

1340. that. I trust in that. That's biblical

1341. belief. And there's just too many people

1342. that are satisfied with, "Yeah, I

  1343. believe it's

1344. true. I believe in God. I believe in

1345. what the Bible says. I believe in

1346. Jesus, but you wouldn't know it by

  1347. looking at my

1348. life." The Bible says this in James 2:,

1349. "You say you have faith, for you believe

1350. that there is one God. Good for you.

1351. Even the demons believe this and they

1352. tremble in terror. What does this say?

1353. Acknowledgment of existence does not

  1354. equal biblical belief. Acknowledging

1355. existence does not equal faith. Saying

1356. it's true, but then I live like it's not

1357. true. That's not belief in the biblical

1358. sense. It's belief in the worldly sense.

1359. But that kind of belief doesn't save.

1360. This kind of belief doesn't bring life.

1361. This kind of belief doesn't restore. But

1362. I will tell you what, I have a firm

1363. foundation in Christ that I can build my

1364. life upon and I will never be

  1365. disappointed. Amen.

  1366. We're called to

  1367. believe. Don't doubt anymore. Don't be

1368. faithless. Don't be unbelieving, but

  1369. believe. Believe. Jesus said,

  1370. "Believe. Continue to

1371. believe." We're called to believe.

1372. Not in a way that acknowledges God, but

1373. in a way that trusts in

1374. God. I would go so far as to say

1375. this. Belief that does not trust in and

  1376. rely on God is

1377. demonic. Belief that does not put trust

  1378. in

1379. God, what that's the same kind that the

1380. demons have. belief that doesn't rely on

1381. God as our hope, our

  1382. life, our

1383. forgiveness, our connection to the

1384. father. If I'm not relying on him, then

1385. well, I'm just doing the same thing all

1386. the demons do. And I'm going to tell you

1387. this, that's not the kind of belief that

1388. saves anybody. That's not the kind of

1389. belief that the word talks about in

1390. Romans 10 verse 9 and 10. It says, "If

    Romans 10:9

1391. you openly declare Jesus is Lord and

1392. believe in your heart that God raised

1393. him from the dead, you will be saved.

1394. For it is by believing in your heart

1395. that you're made right with God." And

1396. it's by openly declaring your faith that

  1397. you're

1398. saved. This is the kind of belief that

1399. saves. The belief that will trust God.

1400. The belief that looks to God more than

  1401. to

1402. myself. Not just existing. Yeah. G like

1403. Jesus was a man. and he lived on the

1404. earth. Yeah, Jesus, I know the Easter

1405. story. But a belief that trusts him. A

1406. belief that draws on his strength. A

1407. belief that looks to his word, looks to

1408. his promise and says that is so. That is

1409. true. It's to fully trust, know, and

1410. rely with our whole heart on Christ. And

1411. then to declare him as our Lord. That's

1412. what brings salvation life. Not just

1413. believing in facts but trusting in the

1414. application of truth for me. Belief is

1415. not just agreeing with facts but it's

1416. trusting in the application of truth for

1417. my life. And what happens when we

1418. believe? The word says this. Blessed are

1419. those Jesus said this. You know you've

1420. believed because you saw me. But he says

1421. blessed are those who believe without

1422. seen. The word tells us this. We are

  1423. blessed when we

  1424. believe through belief, through

1425. trusting, through relying on Jesus. We

1426. receive of his life, of his strength, of

1427. his comfort, his forgiveness, and his

  1428. hope. We become

1429. receivers when we are believers. And not

1430. just in the mental acknowledgement. It's

  1431. it's not just

1432. empty something. It is to believe in my

1433. heart that this is true. to believe it

1434. so much that that I'll risk relying on

1435. the promise, I'm going to risk believing

1436. Jesus. If if it's not at all a risk to

1437. believe in Jesus, it might not be real

1438. belief. You know, the gospel message is

1439. free, but it costs you things to follow

1440. Jesus. Amen. Can I can I preach that in

1441. this church on an Easter

1442. morning? Jesus said, "Deny yourself.

1443. take up your cross and follow me.

1444. There's cost to believing what Jesus

1445. says because to believe Jesus and

1446. receive new life in him, I have to be

1447. willing to give up the old life that I

  1448. built on my

1449. own. I have to be willing to to walk

1450. away from the thing that I know and is

1451. familiar and and I've you know, it's not

1452. perfect, but I've learned how to sit on

1453. it and not fall over. That's kind of

1454. what life in the world can be like. I've

1455. got things figured out where it's pretty

1456. good until it's not. Things work for me

1457. most of the time until this happens and

1458. then it all falls apart. You know, Jesus

1459. taught about the man who builds his life

1460. on the word, the firm

1461. foundation. That's when we trust him.

1462. That's when we believe him instead of

1463. our own wisdom, our own ways, our own

1464. pattern of living. And so

1465. belief, it is risky to believe in Jesus

1466. because it is to give up myself. It's to

1467. give up my own way, my own

1468. wants. It's to say, "Lord, not my will,

1469. but yours be done." That sounds kind of

1470. risky, doesn't it? To just

1471. wholeheartedly put your trust in someone

1472. else. This is where we figure out who

1473. has trust issues. Is can I say yes to

1474. Jesus in any way for anything? Can I

1475. believe what the word says? No questions

1476. asked. Without any doubt, without any

1477. unless I see, unless you prove, unless

1478. you'll do the kind of belief that

1479. changes our life, the kind of belief

1480. that leads to great blessing is this

1481. belief that confidently trusts in Jesus.

1482. Some of the things the Bible says about

1483. those who believe. In John chapter 3

    John 3:16

1484. verse 16 says whoever believes will not

1485. perish but have eternal life. Says

1486. whoever believes is not condemned.

1487. Whoever believes has eternal life. Those

1488. who believe have been given the right to

1489. become children of God. Those who

1490. believe will cast out demons, speak in

1491. new tongues, not be hurt by snakes or

1492. poison, lay hands on the sick, and they

  1493. will recover.

1494. We see the blessings of belief all

1495. through the New Testament. Many

1496. promises, many wonderful asurances are

1497. given to those who choose to continue to

  1498. believe in

1499. Jesus. Jesus said this in Mark 11:22,

    Mark 11:22

1500. "Have faith in God. I tell you the

1501. truth, you can say to this mountain, may

1502. you be lifted up and thrown into the

1503. sea, and it will happen." But you must

1504. really believe it will happen and have

1505. no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you

1506. can pray for anything and if you believe

1507. that you received it, it will be

1508. yours. See, we're not just called to

1509. intellectually agree with what the New

1510. Testament says. We are called to base

1511. our life on the truth of what Jesus has

1512. done for us. We we are called to make

1513. the decisions of our life in the

1514. perspective of Christ. I am called to

1515. live not just as myself, Isaac Wangler,

1516. but I'm called to live as Isaac Wangler,

1517. who is a child of God in Christ Jesus.

1518. Isaac Wangler, who's been made the

1519. righteousness of God in Christ

1520. Jesus. This is real belief. And we're

1521. called to continue in that belief so

1522. that we would have life. This is the

1523. heart of the gospel. This is the heart

1524. of resurrection and the heart of today's

1525. message. Believe in Jesus. Continue to

1526. believe in Jesus so that you can

1527. experience the power of life in your

1528. life. Church, I have a testimony video

1529. to share with you this morning. And this

1530. is a testimony by Brooke Minahan of a

1531. testimony where she chose to believe and

1532. not just intellectual agreement, but she

1533. chose to trust. She chose to rely. She

1534. chose to believe on Jesus. Let's play

1535. that testimony video. church family.

1536. Last month at Women of Life, I was able

1537. to share my testimony with several of

1538. you, and I'm so blessed to be able to

1539. share that again today. As I prepared

1540. for Women of Life, I came across a quote

1541. that really sums up my journey with an

1542. autoimmune illness. Some people may say,

1543. "She changed." But I say, "No, she

1544. healed. She learned, she grew, she set

1545. boundaries, she stopped settling, and

1546. she put God first." In February of 2020,

  1547. I started experiencing a multitude of

1548. symptoms starting with shortness of

1549. breath, a rapid heart rate, insomnia,

1550. hair loss, waking up in the middle of

1551. the night with anxiety and panic

1552. attacks, which is not my norm. And

1553. ultimately, I ended up with tremors that

1554. pushed me to go see my healthcare

1555. provider. While sitting in the office,

1556. she was able to witness my tremors and

1557. immediately started running tests as

1558. there was no explanation as to why I was

1559. having my symptoms. Within a couple of

1560. days, I received a call from my provider

1561. informing me that I needed to see an

1562. endocrinologist due to my thyroid

1563. levels. My TSH, which is a thyroid

  1564. stimulating hormone, was barely

1565. detectable. I was able to get in with

1566. the endocrinologist rather quickly and

1567. was diagnosed with Graves disease, which

1568. is an autoimmune disorder that causes

1569. the thyroid to work in overdrive. This

1570. diagnosis led me to taking three

1571. medications on a daily basis to treat

1572. the symptoms. This was a journey in

1573. itself. my levels would fluctuate from

1574. high to low and vice versa, leaving me

1575. feeling awful for a majority of the last

  1576. 5 years. On September 22nd, 2024 is when

1577. my life changed. Pastor Kevin Culie was

1578. visiting our church and shared so many

1579. wonderful testimonies about healing that

1580. he had per personally witnessed. I

1581. remember sitting at the back row in awe

1582. thinking how amazing our God is. Little

1583. did I know that would be the day that I

1584. would personally be healed. It was

1585. towards the end of his teaching that he

1586. started talking about members of our

1587. church family. I vividly remember him

1588. saying that there's someone in this room

1589. that has a thyroid issue and God wants

1590. you to be healed. I thought to myself,

  1591. well, I have a thyroid issue, but I'm

1592. sure many others do in this room also. I

1593. really reflected on that fact that he

1594. could possibly be talking about me. And

1595. that's when I decided to declare it for

1596. myself that he was talking about me and

1597. to hand it over to God. I quietly prayed

1598. in the back row for healing, which I had

1599. never done in regards to this illness.

1600. Psalms 37:5 says, "Commit your way to

    Psalms 37:5

1601. the Lord. Trust in him and he will do

  1602. this." About 20 minutes later, I felt a

1603. distinct burning in my throat where my

1604. thyroid is. It didn't physically feel

1605. hot or necessarily hurt, but it got my

1606. attention. Shortly after church ended,

1607. as I made my way to the parking lot, I

1608. started profusely sweating. My girls

1609. kept asking me if I was okay, and all I

1610. could say is, "I am healed." I had no

  1611. other

1612. explanation. I ended up with a stomach

1613. virus that next week. So, I stopped

1614. taking my medication. When I attempted

1615. to start it again, I felt awful. That's

1616. when I felt the little nudge from the

1617. Holy Spirit reminding me that I was

1618. healed and I no longer needed my

1619. medication. Just to be clear, I'm not

1620. giving a medical advice, and I'm not

1621. telling anyone to stop taking their

1622. medication that is prescribed. But in my

1623. situation, I knew I was going to be

1624. okay. I went to the endocrinologist for

1625. my 3-month checkup and was honest with

1626. my nurse and provider about what had

1627. transpired. At first, my doctor looked

1628. at me like, "Okay, sure." But he

1629. listened. He completed his exam and

1630. asked me about my symptoms and

1631. instructed me to wait 2 weeks to have my

1632. labs drawn. At this point, he wasn't

1633. fully convinced that I was healed, but

1634. he was willing to entertain the idea. 2

1635. weeks later, I had my blood work done

1636. and it was completely normal. I am going

1637. on 6 months of not having to take any

1638. medication on a daily b basis. How

1639. amazing is that? My hair is growing

  1640. back. My heart rate's controlled. I'm

1641. not waking up with anxiety and panic

1642. attacks. I am healed. As in Jeremiah

    Jeremiah 33:6

  1643. 33:6, "Nevertheless, I bring you health

1644. and healing to it. I will heal my

1645. people, and I will let them enjoy

1646. abundant peace and security. I have felt

  1647. God's arms around me. I have heard God's

1648. words, and I've seen God's work in my

1649. life personally. No one will ever

1650. convince me that God isn't real."

1651. Amen. You've got glory for that.

1652. He's still overcoming graves. Amen.

  1653. Literally and figuratively, God

1654. overcomes the grave every day. You know

1655. what I love about that testimony? You

1656. can I can see in there the belief, the

1657. belief, you know, that that moment where

1658. she hears this word, this call. Somebody

1659. in here with a thyroid. God wants to

1660. heal you. And and she has that that

1661. thought, that Thomas thought, that

1662. doubt. Is that me or maybe it's not? He

1663. said, what did she say? I chose that

  1664. he's talking about

  1665. me. I

1666. believe, see, it wasn't just a mental,

1667. sure, yeah, I believe God can heal a

1668. thyroid. No, it's he's talking about me

1669. today. And then she said, I was walking

1670. out of church and my girls are asking

1671. me, are you okay? And what did she do?

  1672. She said, I'm

  1673. healed. I believe I I'm speaking out the

1674. truth of of what God has done. I'm

1675. confessing this because I know it's so.

1676. I'm relying on the promise. I'm relying

  1677. on what he's

  1678. [Music]

1679. done. And then it's what did she say

1680. next? She said couple weeks later, she

1681. was looking at taking her medicine and

1682. and she felt the Holy Spirit saying to

1683. her, "Hey, hey, remember you're healed."

1684. She had an opportunity there. Am I am I

1685. going to believe or not? Am I going to

1686. trust what the word says and act in the

1687. way that the Holy Spirit is directing me

1688. or am I, you know, going to Sure. I I

  1689. believe it's true,

1690. but but I believe this is more true. The

1691. question is this. Will we put our trust

1692. in what God has done? Will we put our

1693. trust in what God is promising even

1694. today to do? What he's calling out in

1695. your heart to do? Will you believe

1696. today? Will you continue to believe

1697. today so that you can see the promise of

1698. life manifest in your life? You see, she

1699. decided, Brooke decided that God was

1700. talking about her, that that promise was

1701. for her. And the truth is, you can

1702. choose today to believe or you can walk

1703. out of here the same. You know, if you

1704. have a need and God has a promise,

1705. believe the promise and see his his

1706. supply of grace come and meet your need.

1707. If you need healing, believe that Jesus

1708. stripes healed you. If you need

1709. salvation, if you've never trusted him

1710. for the forgiveness of your sins and to

1711. be saved from eternity in hell, trust

1712. him today. Rely on him fully. Lord, not

1713. at all because of me. I'm not

1714. justifying, you know, I've been pretty

1715. good. I've made an effort. I've tried

1716. and so I don't need that much salvation,

1717. but I'd like a little bit of

1718. salvation. Don't do that. Just say,

1719. "Lord, I need you. I am totally

1720. dependent on you for this. I'm not

1721. working it. I'm not making it happen. I

1722. just I need you. And so, I believe I

1723. trust. I rely on you and what you've

1724. done for me." If you need freedom from

1725. something today in your life, if if you

1726. just have been fighting the fight and

1727. losing, let me tell you what, there's

1728. victory in Christ. There's freedom to be

1729. had in Christ. But you've got to believe

1730. to receive it. You've got to be able to

1731. say, "Lord, I am trusting you to do

1732. this. I am trusting you to bring me into

1733. victory. I'm trusting you to set me

1734. free, to make me new, to sanctify me by

  1735. the power of your

1736. spirit, he will do it." If you need love

1737. in your life, if if if you aren't

1738. familiar with the love of God, say,

1739. "Lord, I believe that you so loved me

1740. that you sent your son, Jesus. I believe

1741. that you first extended your love toward

  1742. me and I I believe it. I trust it. I

1743. receive it. Today can be the day where

1744. you believe for God to meet you, to do

1745. what you need, to provide for you, to

1746. heal you, free you, deliver you, save

1747. you. And so I just say this. If you've

1748. never believed like this before, this is

1749. the first time you've ever heard about

1750. believing in this way and your heart is

1751. stirred right now to put your trust in

1752. Jesus, just blanket statement for the

1753. first time. Today's the day to do it.

  1754. Don't wait. Don't put it off. Don't say,

1755. "Well, I want to see some other things

1756. happen first." There is no one else that

1757. can do for you what Jesus has done for

1758. you. So, if everyone would bow your head

1759. and close your eyes for just a moment, I

1760. want to give an invitation, an

1761. opportunity. If I've been talking about

1762. belief, maybe you're one of those people

1763. who has lived your life and said even,

1764. "Hey, I believe in God. I believe in

1765. Jesus, but not like I've been talking

1766. about up here today." You say, "I I

1767. acknowledge that he exists, but I have

1768. never trusted in him. I have never let

1769. go of myself and chosen to rely on him."

1770. But today, you're ready to say, "I

1771. believe in Jesus." Would you raise your

1772. hand right now and say, "I believe in

1773. Jesus. I trust in Jesus. I see your

1774. hands. I see those hands. Praise God.

1775. All kinds of hands coming up." Yeah. Let

1776. let him acknowledge in you. Witness in

1777. you to the full confidence, the full

1778. trust you're putting in Jesus. You will

1779. not be disappointed. He will change your

1780. life forever. Praise the Lord for people

1781. trusting in Jesus fully. And maybe

1782. you're someone who you started out with

1783. confidence in Jesus, but you've started

1784. drifting. And today you're saying, "You

1785. know what? I recognize where where I

  1786. haven't continued. I've believed, but I

1787. haven't continued in belief. And you

1788. say, "Today's the day. I'm going to

1789. continue. This is a new day, a new

1790. start. I am setting the po path forward

1791. in my life following Jesus." Would you

1792. put your hand up and just say, "I'm

1793. going to continue with him. I'm going to

1794. follow him wholeheartedly." I see all

1795. those hands this morning. Praise God for

1796. the witnessing work that he's doing in

1797. you. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for moving

1798. us in our heart to want to continue in

1799. belief. And I'll say this. If you've

1800. lived with Christ, if you've believed in

1801. Jesus in this way, continue. Press on.

1802. Stand fast in your faith. Fight the good

1803. fight that God's life may continue to

1804. work in you. I'm going to pray a prayer.

1805. I'd like everybody here who is choosing

1806. to continue to believe in Jesus this

1807. morning to pray this after me and then

1808. we're going to receive communion

1809. together as a church family. Just repeat

1810. this. Father God, I believe in Jesus. I

1811. believe he is the only son. That he

1812. lived a perfect life. That he was born

1813. of a virgin. That he did signs and

1814. wonders to witness to who he is. I

1815. believe everything he said is true. I

1816. believe his body was given to take upon

1817. it my sins to provide for me

1818. healing, satisfying, abundant life. I

1819. believe his blood bought me out of

1820. darkness, redeemed me from all my

1821. sin, and gave me the right to be a child

  1822. of God.

  1823. So Jesus, I believe you're alive. I

1824. believe you died, but I believe you

1825. rose. And I believe today you're in

  1826. heaven as my

1827. intercessor, as my representation with

1828. the father. So Jesus, you're my Lord. I

1829. follow you. I trust you. I serve you

1830. with my whole heart. Thank you Jesus for

1831. what you've done for me. I love you and

1832. pray in Jesus name. Amen. Amen. Do you

1833. believe it church? Amen. There's no

1834. better one to follow. Nothing better

1835. than to continue in belief. Our ushers

1836. are going to come forward and prepare

1837. our communion tables. Uh once they have

1838. gotten the table situated, we'll have

1839. our first row come forward. Please take

1840. a cup and a piece of bread and then

1841. return to your seats. Once everyone in

1842. the room has has received the elements

1843. and return to their seats, then all

1844. together we're going to look to the word

1845. and together receive the elements

1846. representative of Christ's blood and

1847. body. So, first row, would you come

1848. forward? And hey, while they're doing

1849. this, our team is going to sing another

1850. song. Would you just join us praising

1851. God and confessing what his blood has

1852. done for us? Come on up, first row. And

1853. once they're back, second row, you can

  1854. go. But can wash

  1855. away my

1856. sin. Nothing but the blood of

  1857. [Music]

1858. Jesus. What can make me whole

1859. again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

  1860. One can

  1861. wash away my

1862. sin. Nothing but the blood of

1863. Jesus. What can make me whole again?

1864. Nothing but the blood of

  1865. [Music]

  1866. Jesus. What can wash

  1867. away my

1868. sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

  1869. [Music]

1870. What can make me whole

  1871. [Music]

1872. again? Nothing but the blood of

  1873. Jesus.

  1874. Oh,

  1875. precious is the

  1876. flow

1877. that makes me white as snow.

  1878. [Applause]

  1879. Oh, found

1880. a nothing but the blood of Jesus.

  1881. [Music]

  1882. Oh,

  1883. precious is the

  1884. Lord

1885. that makes me white as

  1886. snow. Found

1887. our nothing but the blood of Jesus.

  1888. Oh,

  1889. precious is the

  1890. love

1891. that makes me white as

  1892. snow. I

1893. know nothing but the blood of Jesus.

  1894. How precious,

  1895. how

  1896. precious is the

  1897. love

1898. that makes me white as

  1899. snow. How I

1900. know nothing but the blood of Jesus.

  1901. [Music]

  1902. Oh,

  1903. precious is the

  1904. flow

1905. that makes me white as

  1906. snow.

  1907. No

  1908. other fountain I know.

1909. Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

  1910. [Music]

1911. Amen. The word says in John 6:47, "I

    John 6:47

  1912. tell you the

1913. truth, anyone who believes has eternal

1914. life." Does anyone in here believe this

  1915. morning? I do. I do. I believe. I trust

1916. with my whole heart, my whole life in

1917. Jesus for today and for

1918. eternity. So it's this bread that

1919. represents Jesus body that gives us life

1920. which never ends. Life that satisi

  1921. satisfies, makes abundant and

1922. rich. So let's just pray and thank Jesus

1923. for his body. You can pray out your own

1924. prayer or you can follow what I'm

1925. saying. But Lord, I thank you for the

1926. life that's available to us in the body

1927. of Jesus. Thank you for sacrificing

1928. yourself, being beaten, being crucified,

1929. hanging there, Lord, to take upon

1930. yourself all my sin, all my guilt, all

1931. my shame so that Lord, I could live

  1932. free. I accept wholeheartedly. I trust

1933. with everything I am the body of Jesus

1934. for my life. So Lord, I thank you that

1935. it is in the body represented by this

1936. bread this morning that we have life.

1937. It's in Jesus name we believe, we trust

1938. and we pray. Amen. Can you say amen and

  1939. take the

  1940. [Music]

1941. bread now? The cup representing the

  1942. blood of

1943. Jesus which he gave as a payment to

1944. purchase us, to buy us, that we would

1945. belong to him. we would be transformed

  1946. and washed new like

1947. him. Father, I do thank you for the

1948. blood of Jesus which brings us

1949. forgiveness, washes us white and

  1950. cleanses

1951. us. That blood, Lord, which brings us

1952. close to you, puts us in relationship

1953. with you and acts as the seal, the sign,
