  1. Alright, turn in your Bible to Matthew chapter 23, No 22.

    Matthew 23 chapter mention

  2. The Bible is awesome because the Bible is living and active.

  3. The Bible is God's word. This is part 85 and I have not

  4. and I have not gotten bored with Matthew.

  5. If you have, then you're boring. God's not boring.

  6. The Bible's not boring. Matthew 22.

  7. Remember, we're in the last days of Jesus life.

  8. So it's hard every week to give that context again.

  9. But we need to, we need to say it once more.

  10. This is the moment he's been building up for three years.

  11. His ministry. He is the centerpiece of

  12. everything that's happening in Jerusalem.

  13. There's not like 17 people hovering around looking into

  14. what this rabbi named Jesus is up to.

  15. Thousands upon thousands upon many, many thousands have heard

  16. him preach. You know somebody who knows

  17. somebody who's been healed by Jesus at this point.

  18. They have heard about the miracles.

  19. I heard he raised Lazarus from the dead.

  20. I heard he raised somebody else from the dead.

  21. But they all know they weren't dead.

  22. They'd only fallen asleep. There's all confusion.

  23. No, Lazarus was dead 4 days, bro.

  24. He actually came back. And right, for sure, that guy

  25. was raised from the dead. All these stories have expanded

  26. and swelled. He's fed thousands and they know

  27. that he didn't have the resources to do so, but he is

  28. the resource to do so. So he's fed many people.

  29. All this is expanded. The Pharisees are mad at him.

  30. The Sadducees are mad at him. The Herodians are mad at him.

  31. The Romans aren't quite sure. They're not totally clued into

  32. what's going on. They're just going.

  33. The Jews are doing Jew stuff. We don't really care that much

  34. because we have the sword and we still are going to rule over

  35. them. But of course, what they don't

  36. realize is that Jesus has all the while been been building up

  37. His Kingdom to subverse the entire world.

  38. He's not going to. He has not yet come to rule with

  39. the sword. He will, but at this point he

  40. did not come to rule with the sword.

  41. He came to rule the hearts of men.

  42. The thing that no sword can affect.

  43. The sword can kill people and it can force people to do things

  44. that they don't want to do. Only Jesus has the power to

  45. change you wanting to do something different.

  46. Jesus can change your wonder. Jesus reforms and completely

  47. transforms your desires so that the thing I wanted to do, I

  48. don't need to be forced by the sword to do it.

  49. I am drawn by the grace and the love of God to go.

  50. He has changed me. He's made me new.

  51. This is how Jesus is changing the world.

  52. He's stronger and He's better. He does what no man can do.

  53. Men can force people with intimidation.

  54. Jesus can change a man's heart. So Jesus has been building

  55. popularity. People are jealous of him, but

  56. now he's coming this week and he came into the temple and he

  57. overturned the tables. The Sadducees are the ruling

  58. group who ruled the temple. They are the chief priests, not

  59. the Pharisees. So the Pharisees would be

  60. considered. They would be more looked up to

  61. as religious leaders. The people looked at the

  62. Sadducees, although they were in positions of power, they were

  63. not adored. They were not really admired

  64. because they were very clearly political and they were very

  65. wealthy men and they did not love all of the Scriptures.

  66. They only adhere to the first five books of the Old Testament,

  67. Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, and yet

  68. still they were even blind to those books that they claimed

  69. that they believed. So Jesus comes into the temple

  70. and overturns the money changers and throws out everyone who's

  71. carrying furniture through 100,000 people in the temple

  72. court. When he's doing this and he

  73. establishes his authority over the temple and they're going,

  74. what are you doing? But what authority do you do

  75. this? They're challenging him.

  76. They don't just grab him. They don't just arrest him

  77. because they said no one's ever spoken like him before.

  78. They sent people to go arrest them, like go get him.

  79. And they're like, we tried, but we couldn't bring ourselves to

  80. because his power. He's just sorry, boss, I came

  81. back because I didn't know what else to do.

  82. So they're stumped, but they're determined to kill him.

  83. But this is His purpose. He came to die.

  84. He's not the victim of the Pharisees.

  85. He's not the victim of the Sadducees.

  86. He's not the victim of the Romans.

  87. He's not a hostage to anybody. As he makes clear.

  88. You have no power over me except that was given to you from

  89. above. Nobody takes my life from me.

  90. I lay it down. Jesus is the one marching to the

  91. cross. They are the pawns in His game,

  92. and they are fulfilling their ordained purpose.

  93. Because of their hard hearts, because of their unbelief, Jesus

  94. is going to accomplish Jesus's mission.

  95. So they've been testing him. Remember, the Passover lambs are

  96. being tested this week. They're being scammed.

  97. They're being inspected. Will this be ready for the

  98. Passover? Can this lamb be sacrificed for

  99. the Passover? When Thursday night comes,

  100. whenever it's time for the Passover meal, will this lamb be

  101. ready? Jesus is the greater Passover

  102. lamb who has been brought into Jerusalem, and he's being

  103. inspected all week. They test him, they try to trick

  104. him, they try to confuse him, and he humiliates them and

  105. rebukes them over and over and over.

  106. Now we pick up here chapter 22 and verse 23.

  107. The same day Sadducees came to him who say that there is no

  108. resurrection. And they asked him a question,

  109. saying, Teacher Moses said if a man dies having no children, his

  110. brother must marry the widow and he must raise up offspring for

  111. his brother. So they are quoting the Old

  112. Testament, the first five books that they believe from.

  113. And there was a law, and this was for two purposes.

  114. This was to care for the widow, and this was to keep the wealth

  115. within the family. So whatever that brother had

  116. accumulated, whatever he had acquired, those resources stay

  117. within the family. So if your brother, if you're

  118. not married and your brother's wife dies, you are now required

  119. to marry her. This is to care for this widow,

  120. and this is also to keep the wealth and the resources in the

  121. family. So they're saying this was the

  122. law that Moses gave us, and now they're going to present their

  123. very complex situation that they think they have now.

  124. There were seven brothers among us.

  125. They were pretending that this was a real story.

  126. The first married and died and having no offspring, left his

  127. wife to his brother. So to the 2nd and the 3rd down

  128. to the 7th, I don't know. You would think one of these

  129. brothers eventually would be like, please, I don't want to

  130. marry her. Everybody dies and marries her,

  131. but they go, you know, with this made-up false story, this guy

  132. marries is like, well, hey bro, you got to die.

  133. God said you got to marry this girl.

  134. She's the Black Widow, as it's been called before.

  135. Whenever people have been preaching this text, the third

  136. down to the seventh verse 27 after them all, the woman died

  137. in the resurrection. Therefore of the seven, whose

  138. wife shall she be? For they all had her.

  139. But Jesus answered them. You are wrong, because you know

  140. neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.

  141. For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in

  142. marriage, but are like the angels in heaven.

  143. And As for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what

  144. was said to you by God? I am the God of Abraham, and the

  145. God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.

  146. He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

  147. And when the crowd heard it, they were astonished at his

  148. teaching. God, help us to be astonished

  149. with you and help us to be drawn to worship by you.

  150. Help us to be drawn to deeper surrender to you and to help us

  151. to avoid the the foolishness of the Sadducees, the unbelief of

  152. the Sadducees. Lord, I pray that you would

  153. drive unbelief out from us as we submit to you today, as we come

  154. humbly. Lord, when we come to you with

  155. questions, help us to come with sincerity.

  156. When we come to you with questions, help us to come to

  157. you with humility. When we come to you with

  158. questions, help us to come to you with childlike faith, always

  159. tender and always eager to receive what you would instruct

  160. and what you would give. We receive your blessing this

  161. morning of Your Word. We thank You for the Word that's

  162. living and active, that can divide and clarify between our

  163. soul and our spirits. God, I thank you for breaking

  164. bondages off of people this morning.

  165. I thank You for setting people free from unbelief.

  166. God, I pray that you would raise hope for the resurrection and

  167. the life, not just the the life that will never end without any

  168. time limit, but also the life that is of great value and worth

  169. here and now. In Jesus name we thank you.

  170. Amen. So the Pharisees are your

  171. traveling rabbis who are going around.

  172. They would be your more conservative theologians.

  173. The problem is they also created boundaries around God's law that

  174. God didn't put around God's law. They said God says this, you're

  175. not supposed to do this. So we're going to put this big

  176. fence around this thing and we're going to say, don't do

  177. that. And if you do that thing, we're

  178. going to say that that's wrong and we're going to shame you and

  179. continue for that. And God saying, I didn't say

  180. that. I only said this.

  181. My law is enough. My law is perfect.

  182. My law is right. Now you might have personal

  183. preferences for personal wisdom. Well, it's my conviction to do

  184. this. Well, you're free in Christ, my

  185. brother, my sister, you can do that.

  186. But you need to be careful not to impose that on others as

  187. though it's Scripture and to say this is the standard and this is

  188. the only way. Now, on the other hand, we have

  189. the Sadducees. These are the wealthy temple

  190. elite. They are the priesthood.

  191. They only believe the first five books of Moses, and they deny

  192. the supernatural. They do not believe in angels,

  193. which are in the first five books of the Old Testament.

  194. They do not believe in any sort of supernatural life whatsoever.

  195. They don't believe in life after death.

  196. They are a strange group. They are the liberal theologians

  197. who say whenever you show them the scriptures and they go,

  198. well, that's like an allegory. And they say, well, that was

  199. kind of like just a metaphor. Like what about the Angel of the

  200. Lord here? And what about the Lord speaking

  201. with him here? And what about this?

  202. And what about God appearing to him and all these things?

  203. Like they have ways of of writing these things off,

  204. downplaying, reinterpreting, or allegorizing them.

  205. So since they denied angels and spirits and life after death,

  206. they were forced to twist or ignore parts of Scripture that

  207. clearly affirmed those realities.

  208. So miracles like the burning Bush, like the plagues, the

  209. parting of the sea, they treated these as unique historical

  210. events, not evidence of an ongoing supernatural God who

  211. still intervenes in the lives of his people.

  212. Appearances of angels like the Angel who stopped Abraham from

  213. sacrificing Isaac or who led Israel through the wilderness.

  214. These things were dismissed as figurative language or poetic

  215. storytelling. Does that sound familiar?

  216. That's what modern lying false teachers do today.

  217. They say, well, you know, that's kind of like, which is a

  218. dangerous ground to step on because it sounds an awful lot

  219. like what Satan whispered in the garden.

  220. Did God really say that's Satan's line?

  221. You read your Bible and you think man seems like God's

  222. saying what God is saying here. And then the snake will come in

  223. and go. Did God really say, is it?

  224. Is that really what he meant? So we don't want to encourage

  225. bad interpretation and bad study habits and misunderstanding of

  226. Scripture. There's context to be considered

  227. and there's things to be learned.

  228. And yet we want to be humble to the Scripture and be default

  229. believers, not cynics, not unbelievers.

  230. Occasions of God appearing to men were reduced to symbolic

  231. visions or moral lessons rather than real encounters with the

  232. living God, References to the soul and the afterlife.

  233. Like when God says he's going to gather his people to their

  234. fathers, this was interpreted as a metaphor for a legacy or a

  235. memory, not a continued existence.

  236. So these guys say they also believe that their that their

  237. wealth was evidence of God blessing, God's blessing on

  238. their lives. These are disobedient men.

  239. These are the men who are mostly in charge of the money changing

  240. operation. Like we've talked about, you

  241. can't take your water bottle through TSA.

  242. They stop your water bottle and then you go through TSA and now

  243. you have to buy a $15 dollar bottle of water.

  244. This is the Sadducees who built that system.

  245. These were the guys who were doing that in the temple.

  246. My family and I, we, we picked out of our flock, we found the

  247. best land we could find. He's the most perfect one.

  248. We, he's beloved, my children love him.

  249. We've given him a name. He's the most precious thing to

  250. us. And we want to offer him to the

  251. Lord because it's going to cost us.

  252. It cost me money and it's costing our hearts.

  253. And we offer him up to the Lord. And the Sadducees would inspect

  254. and go, no, we found a defect in this one.

  255. You're going to have to buy one of our lambs here from the

  256. temple courts, a pre approved temple lamb.

  257. Jesus hated him. It was disgusting.

  258. It was wicked. So he caused an uproar and he

  259. said this is my father's house. It's a House of prayer.

  260. You have turned it into a den of thieves.

  261. Nobody talked to these guys like that.

  262. Nobody, nobody would ever dare speak to them this way.

  263. He doesn't care because he has authority over them.

  264. And they're breathing his breath.

  265. That's his air that they're borrowing.

  266. Everything that they enjoy they have manipulated.

  267. They revered Moses as a lawgiver, but they rejected the

  268. God of power who parted the seas and raised the dead.

  269. Their religion had ritual, but it had no life.

  270. It had the ritual, it had the To Do List, but no real

  271. supernatural power, no real life, and no real fruit.

  272. So when they come here, This is why Matthew prepares his

  273. readers. And remember, Matthew is a tax

  274. collecting Jew. He's betrayed the Jewish people.

  275. Jesus calls him and says, Matthew, come follow me.

  276. Matthew repents and now he becomes a disciple of Jesus.

  277. Years later, he's writing this gospel and he wrote this to the

  278. Jews. So Matthew keeps pointing out

  279. the context for the Jews and he says, remember the Sadducees who

  280. say there is no resurrection? Now bring their sarcastic

  281. question. We don't even believe in the

  282. resurrection, but we're going to put this trick question to you.

  283. Hey, Jesus, this guy who claims there's a resurrection, Here's

  284. our story. Among us there was a guy.

  285. And because we want to obey the law of Moses, so they present

  286. this stupid hypothetical question with.

  287. They come with their mockery. They come with no sincerity.

  288. They ask their question. They're trap.

  289. They invent this story about this woman who marries seven

  290. brothers, each after another, each dying childless in the

  291. resurrection. Whose wife will she be?

  292. They think they make the whole idea of a resurrection look

  293. ridiculous. That's their motive.

  294. That's what they think they're doing.

  295. They think that they got some big gotcha moment.

  296. We have similar things like this in our day.

  297. This is like abortionists who say, what if a 12 year old girl

  298. has cancer and she's paralyzed and she's raped by a family

  299. member. They're creating the most

  300. horrific, wicked, extreme, devastating evil scenario they

  301. can think of. And then they say, are you going

  302. to make her have the baby? Simultaneously, these hypocrites

  303. who asked this question, they would approve of abortion even

  304. if a woman just didn't feel like losing her Friday night

  305. freedoms. But they have put on you this

  306. devastating, chronically evil scenario.

  307. And they're like, will you force her to have a child?

  308. Meanwhile, this person would approve if she's like, I just

  309. feel like I want to go out with the girls more.

  310. And they go, well, then you can abort your child as well.

  311. You can murder your baby. That would be also be

  312. acceptable. But they act as though they have

  313. presented a common moral dilemma when it is neither common nor is

  314. it actually a moral dilemma. Why?

  315. Because the rapist can be legally executed by the

  316. government, the girls should be cared for, cherished and

  317. restored, and the baby should be protected by everyone in

  318. principle. It's also similar to the moronic

  319. mocking question that we talked about last week.

  320. Can God make a rock so big that even he can't move it?

  321. Oh no, we're totally stumped. What a what a brilliant

  322. philosophical problem you've created for us.

  323. It's just stupid. It's just stupid.

  324. It's not coming from a humble heart.

  325. How am I supposed to answer it? You're not, You're not.

  326. You don't give your pearls to dogs and to pigs.

  327. You pray for them and you love your enemies.

  328. But you need to recognize when someone has identified

  329. themselves as your enemy so you can pray for them appropriately

  330. and keep your heart pure towards them so that they would come to

  331. a saving faith of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  332. They would receive His grace because but for the grace of

  333. God, we would be that ignorant, prideful, stupid, foolish jerk

  334. who is rebelling against God. It's only by his grace that

  335. we're not Jesus answered them. Verse 29 You are wrong because

  336. you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.

  337. That is a giant slap in the face to them.

  338. I love it so much because they in fact intellectually knew the

  339. Scriptures. They knew what the scriptures

  340. said. That's why they brought that

  341. scenario to him, said hey, there's this one law of this

  342. thing, let's make fun of Jesus about it.

  343. But Jesus is saying you don't know the Scriptures.

  344. Isn't that an interesting point? Jesus does not equate knowledge

  345. of what the Bible says with knowing the Scriptures.

  346. There's a different kind of knowing according to Jesus.

  347. Oh, I know the word, I know the word.

  348. Oh, I know the word. I've been in the word for a long

  349. time. I know the word.

  350. Would Jesus say you know the word?

  351. Because Jesus explanation of you knowing the word means there is

  352. fruit of that word in your life. There are lots of people who

  353. have brains full of the word. They have brains full of

  354. Scripture, the Pharisees and the Sadducees included.

  355. Jesus was not pleased with them. They were pleased with

  356. themselves though, because they thought that that knowledge was

  357. equal to their maturity. Knowledge does not equal

  358. maturity. Passage of time does not equal

  359. maturity. Maturity equals maturity.

  360. Fruit equals maturity. That's what the Lord's judging.

  361. That's what the Lord's looking for.

  362. Remember Jesus rebuked a tree because it had all the leaves,

  363. but it did not have the fruit. And he said, Israel is just like

  364. that. Look at all of our leaves.

  365. Look at all of our religious rituals.

  366. We are a tree with full of leaves.

  367. And Jesus said, I don't see any fruit, so I'm cursing you and

  368. you're dying. That tree.

  369. It really did happen. It was an actual thing that

  370. happened, but it was also a representation of what was

  371. happening with Israel. You have been false and your

  372. time is up. And now there's going to be the

  373. true Jew. The true Israel is going to be

  374. whoever puts faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and bears fruit

  375. because they're actually loving him and following him.

  376. So if you're a genetic descendant of Abraham, you're

  377. welcome in through the blood. If you're not a genetic

  378. descendant of Abraham, you're welcome in through the blood.

  379. That's it. And you'll bear fruit.

  380. You will not just be a tree. I have leaves.

  381. What are leaves? I read my Bible, I go to church,

  382. I pray. These are leaves, He says, What

  383. about the fruit? How does it show up?

  384. What does it look like? You're wrong.

  385. Nobody's ever told them that before.

  386. You don't know the Scriptures or the power of God.

  387. Public rebuke. These guys are supposed to be

  388. the teachers of Israel, yet Jesus exposes them as ignorant

  389. of both the Bible and of God himself.

  390. But let's not just pick on the Sadducees.

  391. They're easy to pick on, right? We could just have fun.

  392. I could just teach you and say look at these idiots and we move

  393. on. But this applies to you as well.

  394. You are wrong if you do not know the scriptures and the power of

  395. God as well. Know the scriptures that deeper

  396. knowing that fruitful knowing Jesus does not count

  397. intellectual knowing of the scriptures as knowing the

  398. scriptures. They knew the Scriptures with

  399. their minds, but they didn't actually understand them and

  400. they didn't want to obey them with their hearts.

  401. When people don't know the Scriptures and God's intent,

  402. they invent false beliefs and they think that they are

  403. correct. This leads to false doctrine.

  404. This leads to misplaced priorities.

  405. This leads to moral compromise. This leads to a redefining of

  406. sin. I've got a verse.

  407. We have the word of God. Remember, when you're reading

  408. your Bible, you do not build your entire existence, entire

  409. theology around a verse. The Bible interprets the Bible.

  410. The Bible clarifies the Bible. We need the whole counsel of

  411. God's Word for us to ask the question.

  412. It's not, do you have a verse for that?

  413. When we're thinking through things or we're discussing

  414. things or even debating with someone, our questions should

  415. not be hostile towards one another.

  416. We should say, brother, show me that.

  417. Where does the Word really teach that?

  418. And they bring you a verse. You go, wow, that really seems

  419. to say exactly what they're saying.

  420. Let's look into that more. What's going on here?

  421. What's the kind? Oh, wow.

  422. That is what the Word of God teaches.

  423. That is what the Word of God reveals.

  424. I'm, I've changed myself to the word.

  425. I keep changing and repenting to what the word says.

  426. Or you realize, my brother in Christ, my sister in Christ, I

  427. don't think this verse is communicating what you think

  428. it's communicating. We have to take into account

  429. this, then this and this. The Word of God is good and

  430. safe. I don't want you to think the

  431. Word of God is top shelf and it's not something you're

  432. supposed to get to. The Word of God is for the

  433. common man. It's safe to pick it up, to read

  434. it, believe it, apply it, and you will be safe to do so.

  435. Why? Because a humble heart.

  436. God will help. The Holy Spirit will lead the

  437. humble heart. Who doesn't know anything.

  438. How do you know Jim Michael? Because I am that guy.

  439. I don't have any education and I've been that guy and I've come

  440. to my Bible years after year after year after year.

  441. And I humble myself before the Lord and my pastor, I'm quoting

  442. him. Doctor Ken Kramer has said to me

  443. before John Michael, the things that you've seen, like a lot of

  444. guys had to go to seminary to learn, like I'll ask him

  445. questions. Pastor, what about this?

  446. What's going on here? You know, I say, all right,

  447. doctor, I'm stumped on something.

  448. You know, what's what's up with this and what's up with that?

  449. And it seems to me like this, this, this and that, that, that.

  450. And he's like, yeah, he's like, yeah, that's like you're 3 of

  451. seminary. So please, I think I have enough

  452. context with you all. I don't think you that you think

  453. I'm bragging. I think that's probably the

  454. first time I've ever referenced something like that.

  455. But what's the what's the moral of that story?

  456. Joe Michael's awesome. No, that would be the wrong take

  457. away. The moral of the story is your

  458. Bible is safe and humility when walking with the Lord will get

  459. you wherever you need to go. If you will humbly walk with the

  460. Lord and you just go. Lord, I love your word, but I'm

  461. not a smart man, to quote Forrest Gump, but I know how to

  462. read. So with that approach, I can, I

  463. can say, Lord, show me. Lord, reveal to me.

  464. That doesn't mean I know all the things, but it's been enough for

  465. me to make it through the day. It's given me my daily bread and

  466. it's given me enough bread to share with you, and it's given

  467. us enough bread to walk in faithfulness and fruitfulness

  468. and to be pleasing to the Lord. Amen.

  469. When people don't believe the power of God, when they don't

  470. really believe the word of God, they think that God is like

  471. them. That is our default belief.

  472. Whenever we don't really believe the scriptures, when we don't

  473. really know the Lord, we assume God is like us.

  474. It's our default setting, the way that I think, well, it seems

  475. to me that you know, somebody's about to, you know, whatever is

  476. about to come out of this person's mouth, they're really

  477. not walking closely with the Lord.

  478. I think the Lord ought to have done it this way.

  479. Spoken like somebody who doesn't know the Lord and know that he's

  480. actually different from us and he's on another level.

  481. We're made in his image or his thoughts aren't our thoughts,

  482. and He wants our thoughts to be His thoughts.

  483. But if we'll humble ourselves, He will lead us there.

  484. People think that God is as weak as they are.

  485. They think that He is as fickle as they are, that He is as

  486. unforgiving as they are, that He is as unfaithful as they are,

  487. that He is tempted like they are, that He is limited like

  488. they are. The supernatural is often quick

  489. to be eliminated from people's lives, and they rely only on

  490. human wisdom, psychology, and systems.

  491. Why? Because it is predictable.

  492. I like predictability. You like predictability.

  493. I like a formula. I want to do this and I get this

  494. outcome every time. And the Lord says, well, faith

  495. isn't going to look and work that way.

  496. As you read your Gospels, you won't see Jesus heal anybody the

  497. same way twice may have happened because he healed thousands upon

  498. thousands upon thousands upon thousands of people.

  499. But the occasions that the that the Holy Spirit chose to give us

  500. through the Gospel writers one day Jesus went and he made mud

  501. with his spit in the dirt. It's pretty gross.

  502. Pastor Jim Michael, I didn't do it.

  503. Jesus did, and he rubbed it in a man's eyes.

  504. That's weird. Take it up with Jesus.

  505. I didn't do it. And then another time he does it

  506. a different way, and another time he does it a different way.

  507. He says go show yourself to the priest.

  508. He says it's done according to your faith.

  509. It's looked like different things in different ways.

  510. Well, I want a formula for the way things work and I want a

  511. formula. He's like, well, I want you to

  512. actually listen to me and I want to give you instruction and that

  513. will require that you walk with me.

  514. I want to give you the right thing at the right time.

  515. And that will require that we're actually in fellowship because

  516. if you'll remember correctly, that was all he always wanted

  517. anyway. Rewind to Genesis.

  518. He wanted his people, he wanted him to multiply and he wanted to

  519. walk with us in the cold of the day.

  520. We're in the middle of a massive and beautiful detour because of

  521. the cross now, but we're, he's going to restore all things and

  522. we're going to be the bride with the groom and we're going to

  523. have the marriage supper of the lamb and we are going to live

  524. together happily ever after. Even though the Sadducees

  525. foolishly believed otherwise. But people are quick to

  526. eliminate the Holy Spirit and his work.

  527. They're they're quick to focus on their systems and they're the

  528. things that they believe are predictable so that they

  529. actually don't have to grow and learn and walk with God.

  530. And things that might be more mysterious to them and things

  531. that might not be as formulaic. Ignorance of God's word is what

  532. Jesus accuses them of. And unbelief.

  533. Those are the accusations. Well, we've been guilty of all

  534. that. Do you know the word of God?

  535. Well, like if you were to ask me and I'd be like, well, I'm

  536. progressing, right? Like I don't think anybody would

  537. do you know the word like, yes. And I want to know it more.

  538. I want to know him more. Do you have unbelief?

  539. Yes and no. And I want to grow.

  540. Lord, increase my faith. Lord, help me to actually trust.

  541. Help me to actually be childlike.

  542. If we knew the Scriptures and if we trusted God's power, we would

  543. not stray into false thinking, and we would not despair when

  544. facing troubles. Knowing the Word of God protects

  545. you from bad thinking. Knowing the Word of God and

  546. believing in God's power keeps us from despair.

  547. When troubles come. You're going to experience

  548. troubles, Saints. It's not a bad confession, it's

  549. not a bad prophecy. It's just saying life gets a

  550. vote and you have an enemy. You are in a war.

  551. I love Psalm 23, but it stands out as an exception for most of

  552. the Psalms because most of the Psalms have a setting of

  553. warfare. Most of the Psalms have to do

  554. with extreme war going on. Psalm 23 we go, what a relief

  555. from the battle. But even then, he's talking

  556. about the presence of our enemies, even though he's

  557. talking about walking through the valley of the shadow of

  558. death. But the rest of your Psalms are

  559. largely warfare and combat. It's been said that we are in

  560. the middle of a love story, but the love story is taking place

  561. in the middle of a war. So yes, God loves us, but if we

  562. deny the realities of the war around us, the spiritual war,

  563. the enemy who hates us, and we don't recognize that we have

  564. pain and difficulties to experience because of sin, we'll

  565. be ignorant. But if we don't actually lean on

  566. the power of God and believe in his supernatural impartations

  567. for our lives, we'll despair when these things come against

  568. us, and we'll be surprised every time.

  569. How could this happen? How could this happen?

  570. Well, the world is broken, You've made mistakes, and you

  571. still make mistakes, and the devil hates you.

  572. That's why bad things happen. Why does anything good happen?

  573. Because God is so good and he loves you and you.

  574. And that's why you've also seen what the enemy meant for evil in

  575. your life. You've seen the Lord restore it

  576. and turn it for your good. You've seen evil and

  577. devastation, and still you've seen the Lord pour oil and wine

  578. in. It's not saying that the injury

  579. didn't happen, but you see the Lord bring a resurrection out of

  580. it. Why?

  581. Because God is good. So what are the things, what are

  582. the consequences when we live this way, when we don't know the

  583. word of God, and when we don't believe in the really in the

  584. power of God? What are the things that keep us

  585. from true understanding of God's word?

  586. What are the things that keep us from the power of God?

  587. One of these we've already referenced Pride.

  588. Pride, assuming you already know.

  589. I cannot learn when I think I know.

  590. I have to deal with this all the time.

  591. I make a point to put myself in rooms where I'm the small fish

  592. in a big pond. I make a point to put myself

  593. around men who I believe outrank me and when I'm around them and

  594. they start to share something, the first thing a lot of times I

  595. feel when they start to talk about a category I think I'm

  596. familiar with as I start to go, I already know that.

  597. I want him to know that. I know that so that he thinks I

  598. know that. And I have to say shut up flesh.

  599. Be small and listen and learn. Be nobody.

  600. Take the small seat at the table.

  601. John Michael. He starts to talk about some

  602. things he does in his marriage and some things he does in his

  603. family and immediately I feel I, I do that too.

  604. I know a lot of good stuff about marriage and family.

  605. I'm actually, I actually teach a lot of people.

  606. That's what my flesh, my flesh is like.

  607. Look at me, encourage me, give me information instead of shut

  608. up. Get on the cross.

  609. You already know what you know, stupid.

  610. You don't know what he knows. Humble yourself.

  611. Take pride in letting him not know anything about you.

  612. Take pride and let him find out. Let another boast for you.

  613. That's good. I've got to do that all the time

  614. because you can't learn when you think you already know.

  615. Pride will keep you from knowing God's Word.

  616. You go to the Scriptures. Yeah, I've been here, done that.

  617. There is gold. It is living.

  618. It's active. There is a life source that will

  619. flow to you from God's Word, whether you're you're reading it

  620. with your eyes or listening to it with your ears or saying it

  621. to yourself or meditating upon it in your mind.

  622. There's more power there. It's not a history lesson.

  623. It has tons of history in it, but it's not exclusively a

  624. history lesson. It's really living.

  625. And if you believe in that supernatural power, you'll

  626. humble. You have to humble yourself to

  627. receive it. What's another thing that keeps

  628. us from understanding God's Word and His power?

  629. Unbelief. It's just refusing to accept

  630. supernatural truth. This is the cynic.

  631. This is the well, I don't know about that.

  632. That is a choice that is not a debilitating, chronic issue

  633. that's come from the outside. That is something that's coming

  634. from the inside, and that is a choice that is something that

  635. you can renounce and that you can repent of.

  636. Lord, I repent of my own belief. I turn from my cynicism.

  637. I come, as Jesus demanded, with childlike faith.

  638. If you do not have the faith of a child, Jesus said, you will

  639. never even enter the Kingdom of heaven.

  640. They said, who's going to be the greatest in the Kingdom?

  641. Lord, it's me, right? Is it me?

  642. They're talking about rank in the Kingdom, Who's going to have

  643. the most glory in the Kingdom? And Jesus said, hey, let's take

  644. away the whole rank in the Kingdom conversation and let me

  645. slap you in the face with this one.

  646. You'll never even enter the Kingdom.

  647. What we're talking about how high we're going to rank.

  648. We're obviously going to enter the Kingdom.

  649. Lord, I'm trying to consider how how great I'll be, how much

  650. prominence I'll have. Will I be over Peter?

  651. I hope I'm going to be over Peter because he kind of gets on

  652. my nerves. What's my rank going to be?

  653. Jesus said you'll have no rank. You won't even enter the Kingdom

  654. unless you come like a little child.

  655. And you're not coming like a little child right now because

  656. the little child's not thinking about that.

  657. The little child knows they're small.

  658. I'm just here. Little children, they just run

  659. around in the world of adults and they don't think much of

  660. themselves. They're controlled, they're LED,

  661. they're directed, and they're submissive.

  662. Jesus said that's how you should be in the Kingdom.

  663. You won't even enter the Kingdom unless you come in that way.

  664. What are other things that keep us from understanding God's Word

  665. truly, deeply in our hearts? Love of sin.

  666. Holding on to what God condemns will blind your heart to truth.

  667. I surrender this thing over here.

  668. I'll surrender that thing right there.

  669. But the Lord not this thing. Don't look at that thing.

  670. I'll surrender these other things over here if I love my

  671. sin. That is a massive blockage,

  672. Lord, breakthrough in this area. Lord, come on, I need the

  673. breakthrough. I'm claiming it.

  674. I'm standing on the promise. Give me the breakthrough in

  675. Jesus name and I'm holding on to this sin.

  676. It's a supernatural thing. I don't, it's out of my

  677. jurisdiction. It's out of my league to explain

  678. the details of how it works. That's his area of expertise.

  679. But it's something, there's something there.

  680. Your heart's really not hungry and humble, and there's too much

  681. weeds, there's too much blockage, there's too much

  682. demonic influence. If I love my sin and I'm holding

  683. on to my sin, that's going to blind me from really seeing the

  684. word of God, really receiving God's supernatural power.

  685. What else keeps me from this? Just the neglect of Scripture.

  686. Neglect of Scripture. Rarely reading the Scripture

  687. leaves you spiritually malnourished.

  688. So if I'm just not coming to the Scripture with enough frequency,

  689. frankly, frankly, then I can't be well nourished eating a meal

  690. once a month. Like we're going to be

  691. malnourished in our physical bodies.

  692. So what do our what do our spiritual lives need?

  693. What do our mental lives need? What kind of cadence would

  694. actually be nourishing to your life, which is not coming with

  695. enough frequency, even enough humility to really be changed by

  696. it? What else keeps us?

  697. What else makes us look like Sadducees?

  698. Men who deny the Scripture, don't know the Scriptures, and

  699. deny the power of God? A lack of the Holy Spirit's

  700. revelation. This is when you're trying to

  701. understand divine truth without actually being submissive and

  702. prayerful for understanding. Pray when you're seeking God in

  703. His word. Lord, show me, Lord, show me.

  704. And you keep coming back to that thing.

  705. You can come back again tomorrow and come back again tomorrow,

  706. and you keep reading your Bible. There have been times where

  707. there are things I didn't understand and then years later

  708. in a place in my Bible, I wasn't expecting it on a night I did

  709. not see coming. And I thought, I'm just going to

  710. read the word for a few minutes. And the Lord and His kindness

  711. and His blessing, this breakthrough, this light, and

  712. this revelation going, wow, never seen that before.

  713. Didn't realize that before. That answered my question from

  714. years ago, and it built me up and edified me and strengthened

  715. me and encouraged me and answered something for me.

  716. Worldly influence. This is whenever we've absorbed

  717. all these cultural ideas and philosophies that contradicts

  718. God's Word, those have become our normal operating system that

  719. has to be driven out. Do not be conformed to this

  720. world. It's a mold like this box.

  721. You pour mold into it and you've conformed to it, he says, But

  722. instead be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

  723. The renewing of our mind happens through the Word of God.

  724. What else stops us from receiving God's truth deeply

  725. within us? Impatience, expecting quick

  726. insights instead of slow, humble meditation that leads to

  727. revelation. The Internet has rewired our

  728. brains. Doctors have continually been

  729. learning about this. It's still pretty daggone new.

  730. The internet's like, what, 20 years?

  731. 25 years? And it feels like it's been here

  732. forever now. But it's rewiring our brains.

  733. It's making us dopamine addicts. We are, most all of us, dopamine

  734. addicted. Grab it, check, grab it, check.

  735. It's doing a little something in your brain and it's changing

  736. things. And we're expecting

  737. instantaneous things. We thought the microwave spoiled

  738. us when the Internet came, You know, I tapped something.

  739. I asked ChatGPT if it takes like 2 seconds, I'm like this stupid

  740. robot. Like my boys will tell you, I'm

  741. like, come on. It's like it's got to go to

  742. space. It's got to go to the server.

  743. It's got to get all this information.

  744. I still have like the answer to basically anything that at my

  745. fingertips, but 2 seconds is too long impatience when we come to

  746. the scriptures expecting our insights.

  747. Come on. Hey, Lord, I want to know this,

  748. I want to know this and he's saying let's walk together.

  749. Walk with me, walk with me, son. Well, I got AI just got a quick

  750. question. Walk with me, son.

  751. I want to walk with you and I want you to actually know me

  752. because what you think you need is knowledge and what you need

  753. is maturity. What you need is me.

  754. We want knowledge. And in our impatience, Lord, if

  755. you could give me like the four points to this thing of the four

  756. points to that thing, ah, knowledge.

  757. So you can be puffed up, right? Because that's what knowledge

  758. does. Puffs me up.

  759. I'm somebody because I know some stuff.

  760. Wow, quite impressive. So impatience can ruin us.

  761. Expecting quick insights instead of slow humble meditation that

  762. leads to real revelation. And then the last one,

  763. unforgiveness, the older I've gotten and the more I've been in

  764. ministry, the more I believe that unforgiveness is a massive,

  765. massive blockage. And just like all the things,

  766. all the things. I was with some brothers this

  767. weekend at a conference get together thing and a brother had

  768. shared something that he had he had experienced.

  769. I don't think he would mind me sharing the story.

  770. His one of his children had experienced A demonic attack

  771. months back. And we prayed together, me and

  772. the men in this group, we prayed together over this man and and

  773. rebuked and dealt with this thing.

  774. And I think whenever a demonic attack happens on a one off

  775. occasion, I kind of can sometimes chalk that up to OK,

  776. like we, we, we saw, we see you devil.

  777. We and we addressed it and we kicked it out.

  778. But it's weird. It's weird because the devil

  779. really shouldn't have access to children, and if he does, it's

  780. because there's a doorway open. The Lord does not just give

  781. Satan just full direct access like you can do whatever you

  782. want to kids. No, because they have a

  783. covering. They have their mother and they

  784. have their father. And in this case, I know this is

  785. a godly man. So I'm saying, OK, we deal with

  786. it, knock it out, no big deal. We move on.

  787. Well, he said, hey, while we're at this event together, he said

  788. my wife is texted and my youngest son is experiencing

  789. this thing going on again. And I was going, all right,

  790. right now this doesn't add up. Like the one time he comes in,

  791. we kick him out. Like that was a one off weird

  792. thing. You know, I think different

  793. parents have experienced different things.

  794. I think there was times where we probably experienced like, what

  795. is this dark presence in my house?

  796. What is this about? And we stand up in faith and in

  797. prayer. We say, you get out, you return

  798. to hell. I don't know what's going on

  799. here, but we plead the blood of Jesus.

  800. And it was a one off occasion. We've experienced things like

  801. that and a little like, and that and that's it.

  802. And I've met others who experienced.

  803. But for it to come back again, I'm going, brother, something's

  804. up, something's off. This isn't right.

  805. This doesn't add up. This doesn't make sense.

  806. Is there anything going on? He's like, I don't think so.

  807. I was like, you know, there's not like some hidden sin or

  808. anything. He's like, no man, no, that

  809. there's definitely not. I was like, you have any

  810. unforgiveness? I was like, that's the other go

  811. to and you just pause. And I was like, so yes.

  812. And he said, yeah. He said this person, I was like,

  813. man, let's renounce that right now.

  814. So we prayed together, but then even after that, after this

  815. conversation, after we all prayed over him, he said the

  816. words out loud. I forgive so and so and he

  817. blessed so and so with his mouth.

  818. But afterwards we got talking. He's like, man, I'm not feeling

  819. free. Like I still feel burdened.

  820. I still feel bondage. He's like, but I said it.

  821. I was like, brother, a lot of people said a lot of things with

  822. their mouths that do not come out of their hearts.

  823. A lot of people are going to hell who said I believe in the

  824. Lord Jesus Christ. I receive him as my Lord and

  825. Savior because their mouths at it, but they didn't believe in

  826. their heart. And I said, so you said you

  827. forgive him, but you didn't forgive him.

  828. And he's like, I don't know. You think it's really connected?

  829. Well, his son had imagined a particular thing for their

  830. family, for their household. His son imagined their family

  831. burning in their house, their house burning and their whole

  832. family burning up with it. And as his brother was talking,

  833. he was sharing. He's like, man, yeah, I do have

  834. unforgiveness towards this guy. And I think maybe that's what's

  835. going on. He said.

  836. I honestly. I I imagined before like burning

  837. his house down with him in it and he didn't even make that

  838. connection that y'all just made and I said, tell me again what

  839. you've imagined. He's I would never I was like I

  840. know he said, but I imagine I said, what's your little boy

  841. imagine for your household and he goes you think they're

  842. connected? I go, you think I think so my

  843. brother. So you know, I prayed for him

  844. again. I said, you need to call him.

  845. He's like he's, he's a narcissist.

  846. He's like, he's not going to receive any of us.

  847. It's not your problem, not your business.

  848. He's like he's going to laugh whenever I say I've forgiven

  849. you. He's going to go was what am I?

  850. I said then get off the phone and move on.

  851. So he did. So he called him, and then he

  852. calls me back and he says I'm free.

  853. I'm totally free. He said I can breathe again.

  854. He didn't even know that it was impacting him.

  855. He'd experienced paralysis in his face months back whenever he

  856. was going to an event that he knew this other guy was going to

  857. be at. In the weeks leading up to it,

  858. the stress was building. But he told his little boy,

  859. we're going to go do this thing. And now he's like, Oh my

  860. goodness, freedom. Why'd you tell that, pastor?

  861. Because I want to encourage you to forgive, Pastor.

  862. Doesn't everybody have unforgiveness?

  863. We're not supposed to. We're supposed to have 0.0%

  864. forgiveness in US. Did he really have to call him?

  865. That's what it took. What will it take to be free?

  866. Do that thing that feels like cutting off my hand.

  867. That feels like gouging out my eye.

  868. Jesus said it's worth it. It's better to do that than to

  869. enter into the Kingdom and going to hell with your hands and your

  870. eyes intact. It's better enter into heaven

  871. missing a hand and missing an eye.

  872. Which of course was hyperbole. You won't actually be missing a

  873. hand. You won't actually be missing an

  874. eye in the eternal Kingdom. Unforgiveness is massive and you

  875. should be afraid of it. When you sense unforgiveness in

  876. your heart, not in in your life, it should scare you like it.

  877. It should be your new enemy instead of the cat that you've

  878. been petting. Like the evil villain just

  879. stroking your cat and like, yes, yes, they wronged us.

  880. I use cats, of course, because cats are evil.

  881. We all know this. I'm just seizing.

  882. Not really. So instead of stroking your

  883. unforgiveness and just holding on to it, holding on to it, to

  884. actually forgive, why should I? Good question, fair question.

  885. You're not saying that what they did was good or right or OK.

  886. We're not saying that at all. To forgive is actually to say

  887. what you did was wrong. And I release you of the penalty

  888. and the burden of it. You now owe me nothing and

  889. you're free and they're free. It's often been taught that

  890. you're doing it for yourself. Well, that's actually still kind

  891. of a selfish way to view, to view forgiving people.

  892. And yet you also are doing it for yourself.

  893. It's a both and it's a win win. They're free.

  894. But in this case, this guy didn't even care that he was

  895. apologizing to he's like, well, come on, man, wouldn't it kind

  896. of your fault? Like he like went in right away,

  897. like full narcissist mode like, well, I really think it was you.

  898. And he's like, and I just like, I bless you and your wife and

  899. your children and I hope that good things come for you and I

  900. hope the Lord just blesses your household.

  901. And he's like, I just had to get up because he was starting to

  902. ramp up against me. He's like, I'm free.

  903. So. So maybe they receive it and

  904. maybe they weep in tears and apologize, or maybe they double

  905. down and go, yeah, you're dumb, but thanks for the forgiveness,

  906. I guess. But you should be free.

  907. That was a whole sermon on unforgiveness there.

  908. Forgiveness. Unforgiveness can block us,

  909. Lord. Lord hasn't done anything in

  910. your life in years. You, you feel like there's no

  911. supernatural happening in your life at all.

  912. Is there any unforgiveness? Sniff that thing out.

  913. If there's not, there's not. You don't have to go hunting for

  914. something that's not there. But if there is, if something

  915. came up when you've heard any of this talked about, then you need

  916. to take a next step on that thing.

  917. I didn't tell you what it was. Maybe it is the phone call.

  918. Maybe it is the text. He was like man to Michael, even

  919. though as I was like dialing the phone, he's like my blood

  920. pressure. He's like, my heart was pumped.

  921. Like, oh, it's all the angst of it.

  922. And now he's gone. What a relief.

  923. What a relief. Holiness brings relief.

  924. It brings freedom. You had this rock in your shoe,

  925. you didn't even know it was there and now you get the thing

  926. out. You're like, Oh my goodness, is

  927. this what walking feels like? I didn't know my shoes could

  928. feel so good. Those are the things that keep

  929. us and cause us to wander. When Jesus said you are wrong,

  930. that word wrong that he used had connotation and context around

  931. it that would have been understood.

  932. It was a used, It was a word they used whenever we would talk

  933. about stars or constellations that seemed to wander across the

  934. night sky and seemed to wander from season to season.

  935. It was a it was a really, really awesome and deep insight and

  936. deep insightful insult that Jesus deliberately used.

  937. He said, you're wandering. Christians, we even wander when

  938. we get away from the truth of God's word.

  939. When we get away from believing and trusting in the

  940. supernatural, we wander. But if you're if you're

  941. experiencing lack of freedom in any area of your life and if

  942. you're experiencing these blockages and if it feels as

  943. though I've wandered in my walk, these are the things that you

  944. would want to watch for. We're going to start closing

  945. now. I'm going to clarify something

  946. for you in verse 30 when Jesus answers, he says for in the

  947. resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage.

  948. And he's right. That's true.

  949. That means exactly what it says and it is exactly what it sounds

  950. like. We will not be married in

  951. heaven. Marriage on earth is a picture.

  952. It is a beautiful picture. It is a wonderful picture.

  953. And honestly, with my limited earthly brain, I experience a

  954. wonderful and beautiful and godly marriage.

  955. So that's a strange thing for me to think like I'm not going to

  956. be married to this girl. That seems like I'm taking a

  957. loss. Honestly, it seems like that's

  958. like a step back for me. That's what my mind thinks.

  959. But I know better. I know that there will be no

  960. demotions in heaven. I know that nothing will be

  961. downgraded in heaven. I know that everything is only

  962. going to be upgraded in the eternal Kingdom.

  963. So I believe God, I believe that He has something better.

  964. I believe that He has something greater.

  965. I believe that He has something holier and more fulfilling

  966. because this earthly marriage was always a picture of Christ

  967. and the church. Christ in the church comes first

  968. and he goes, I need to teach them.

  969. I need to give them something so they can see what Christ in the

  970. church looks like. That is why he creates marriage.

  971. Yes, Adam and Eve came before Christ came to the earth, but

  972. the Lord in his wisdom and sovereignty knew what he was

  973. doing. So he said, I'm going to make

  974. marriage so they'll have this picture of Christ in the church.

  975. That's what our marriages should be.

  976. People should be able to look into Christian marriages and go,

  977. wow, He's like Jesus and she's like the church.

  978. He leads her with strength and he provides for her and protects

  979. her and loves her. She submits to him, she respects

  980. him, she defers to him. She helps him accomplish his

  981. mission. They're united.

  982. They're in love. If that's Jesus in his church,

  983. sign me up. Our marriages are supposed to be

  984. a picture that sanctify us, that bring us joy and bring babies in

  985. the earth. That's a that's a primary

  986. purpose of our marriages is for multiplication.

  987. And that's not going to have to happen in heaven.

  988. So when Jesus says you're going to be like the angels, he

  989. doesn't mean we're going to be angels.

  990. We're not going to sprout wings. This is where bad doctrine and

  991. misunderstandings have come from.

  992. He says you're going to be like the angels in that there's a set

  993. number of angels and there's they're not multiplying at that

  994. point. Once we enter into the eternal

  995. Kingdom, we're not multiplying anymore.

  996. This was where we multiplied and then we go into heaven.

  997. He says now that season is finished and we're going into

  998. something higher, something new and something better.

  999. They're neither given nor they're neither married nor

1000. given in marriage, but are like the angels in heaven.

1001. And As for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what

1002. was said to you by God? I am the God of Abraham, the God

1003. of Isaac and the God of Jacob. This is the this is the nail in

1004. the coffin. He's quoting the scriptures that

1005. they claim to believe. And God didn't say I was the God

1006. of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, because when

1007. that verse was written, they had been dead for hundreds of years.

1008. So God is saying I am still their God today.

1009. I'm still their God right now. And Jesus, the perfect

1010. interpreter of all scripture, the author of all scripture,

1011. says that scripture proves the resurrection of the dead.

1012. Meaning when you die, you don't really die if you're in Christ,

1013. If you have faith in God, you will never actually really taste

1014. death. Our body will, but that body

1015. will actually be raised up again.

1016. So when we die, to be absent from the body is to be present

1017. with the Lord. We are carried safely into the

1018. eternal Kingdom to be with the Lord, to be with all the Saints

1019. who have gone before us. And then at the last day there

1020. will be a resurrection where our bodies will actually come out of

1021. our coffins, or bodies that have been burned, or bodies that were

1022. lost at sea, or bodies, all the things.

1023. The Lord, that's his jurisdiction, not yours, not

1024. mine. He will glorify those very

1025. bodies. He will bring them back together

1026. and make all things work together for His good.

1027. A Sadducee, a fool and ignorant person, would ask a stupid

1028. question. Wait a second, what if somebody

1029. died like 1000 years ago and the molecules of their body went

1030. into the grass? If the cow ate the grass and

1031. then somebody ate the cow, the molecules of that person's body

1032. are now in the person who ate the cow.

1033. This is a fool who does not understand the scriptures nor

1034. the power of God. Don't get caught up in stupidity

1035. and foolish argumentation. Believe in the power of God.

1036. Be a child and say God knows. God knows.

1037. I don't have to know. I'm just a sheep in his pasture.

1038. God knows. God sorts these things out.

1039. So Jesus is proving, he's explaining I am the God of

1040. Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. This was dunking on their heads

1041. like they're on his poster and he's the Michael Jordan slamming

1042. it down on him in front of everybody because they didn't

1043. understand the Scripture. But as Jesus preached the Word,

1044. the anointing was on the Word and every, all the hearers of

1045. the Word said there is a resurrection and people got New

1046. Hope that day. They got encouraged that day

1047. because they're like the Sadducees say this and Pharisees

  1048. say that. Jesus clarifies.

1049. Jesus tells the truth. He is not the God of the dead,

1050. but of the God of the living. Whatever Jesus says the Bible

1051. means, that's what the Bible means because He is the Word.

1052. So for those in Christ, your body will be raised, your body

1053. will be glorified, your body will be perfected, you will live

1054. forever with God. Death is not the end.

1055. It is an enemy. It wasn't supposed to be here,

1056. but thankfully it is temporary. DL Moody, the great evangelist

1057. and theologian, said someday you will read in the papers that DL

1058. Moody of East Northfield is dead.

1059. Don't you believe a word of it. At that moment I shall be more

1060. alive than I am now. I shall have gone up higher,

1061. that is all, going out of this old clay tent into a house that

1062. is immortal, a body that death cannot touch, that sin cannot

1063. taint. A body like unto who?

1064. His own glorious body. I was born of the flesh out of

1065. my mother in 1837. I was born of the spirit in

1066. 1856. That which is born of the flesh

1067. may die. That which is born of the spirit

1068. will live forever. Our brother Vodi Bakkam, did you

1069. see that he passed this past week?

1070. Great man of God, preacher. He, he, he has said something

1071. similar in quoting in his own version.

1072. He said you're going to hear us someday.

1073. The Vodibakam has died. Don't you believe a word of it.

1074. I've changed my address and I'm thriving and I'm doing well.

1075. Charlie Kirk is conscious right now.

1076. Vodibakam is conscious right now.

1077. You're Saints, your loved ones who walked with Jesus.

1078. They are neither old. They're neither hurting.

1079. They are neither sad. You're sad.

1080. I'm sad. We miss them, but we will

1081. actually be reunited with them again.

1082. We will sit together. Like actually us.

1083. Are we going to remember us? Yeah.

1084. It's going to be us. Us not, not forgetful.

  1085. Us. Us.

  1086. Us. Better US.

  1087. Glorified us. Sanctified us.

1088. Purified us. It's really going to happen.

1089. It's really going to happen. Saints.

1090. We're really going to live forever with God.

1091. Man, it seems too good to be true.

1092. It's not, it's not too good to be true.

1093. The reason your heart wants to latch onto it so bad is because

1094. it's what you were actually made for.

1095. That's the reason that you're like this.

1096. This stirs me. Something's coming alive in me

1097. as you're saying this pastor. Yeah.

1098. It's God's promise to you. He wants you to receive the

1099. blessing of it. He wants you to live with that

1100. hope. He wants you to live with that

1101. focus. It makes us realize that what is

1102. this, 80 years? Dang, we got to get to work.

1103. We got to tell everybody. We got to tell everybody what

1104. Jesus has done for us. We're going to focus on His

1105. work, on His Kingdom, on his glory.

1106. Who am I to hold on forgiveness when Jesus, my Savior, forgave

1107. those who are murdering him on the cross?

1108. Father, forgive them. They don't know what they're

1109. doing. Tombstones sometimes say rest in

1110. peace, but we will not just rest in peace, we will be rejoicing

1111. in glory because Jesus has beaten death and he promised us.

1112. If anyone keeps my word, he will never see death.

1113. And he said he who believes in me has eternal life.

1114. So can God make a rock so big that even he can't move it?

1115. Yes, but only for three days. And then the stone was rolled

1116. away, and the one who is called the resurrection and the life

1117. rose to life victoriously and beat death.

1118. If Jesus beat death and you put faith in Jesus, you will beat

1119. death. You will never really die.

1120. The flawless Lamb goes to the cross, bearing our sins, dying

1121. in our place, and rising. So we too will rise.

1122. He doesn't just go to the cross, He comes out of that tomb.

1123. Jesus is alive today and He is coming back.

1124. He is coming back and He's going to establish the eternal Kingdom

1125. and He's going to make a new heaven and a new earth, and He

1126. is going to join them together, and we will rule and reign with

1127. Him forever back to the Garden of Eden.

1128. Except no snake can enter and nothing can ever be lost.

1129. We're going to take communion now if Chris and Caleb would

1130. serve us. Jesus said in John 14 verse 19.

    John 14:19

1131. Because I live, you also will live.

1132. Good enough for me. I am the resurrection and the

1133. life. Whoever believes in me, though

1134. he dies, yet shall he live. Whoever drinks the blood of

1135. Jesus and eats the blood of Christ will never really die.

1136. We've already done it by faith. We're going to take the elements

  1137. together. Now.

1138. What I want you to do is I want you to bow your heads and close

1139. your eyes, not so much for the privacy factor, but just to help

1140. you focus, to help you go inward in your own heart to pray and

  1141. seek the Lord. Lord.

1142. Is there anything you would have me lay down?

1143. Is there anything I should turn over?

1144. Is there anything I should repent of so that I can be free,

1145. so that you can receive glory, so that I can be more holy and

1146. so that I can understand Your Word better?

1147. Is there anything in my life that's keeping me from

1148. understanding Your word? Does the Bible seem dead to you,

1149. friend? Does the Bible seem boring to

1150. you? I promise you, it's you and good

1151. news that can change. God's Word is alive and active,

1152. but that just means there's a veil in front of your eyes.

1153. There's something in front of you right now, and the Lord

1154. wants that thing gone. He will burn that thing away.

1155. He will RIP that thing away if you'll give that thing to him.

1156. Are you, are you missing out on the supernatural power of God in

1157. your life? Are you not seeing it or

1158. experiencing it? Does it seem like it's always

1159. afar off? It seemed like somebody else

1160. lives that kind of life. Somebody else enjoys that kind

1161. of blessing. It seems like you don't.

1162. You can't really relate when people talk about the power of

1163. God, my friend, good news, there is a blockage.

1164. There is a blockage and the Lord wants to remove it right now.

1165. And if you've never called upon the name of the Lord in faith,

1166. my friend said I forgive so and so, but he didn't forgive so and

1167. so. And maybe you've even prayed.

1168. I trust the Lord Jesus, but you didn't trust the Lord Jesus with

1169. your heart and with your mouth. I want to lead all of you in a

1170. prayer. Whoever would want to pray with

1171. their heart and say with their mouth, repeat after me, Heavenly

1172. Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus.

1173. Lord, if there are any blockages, anything between you

1174. and me, anything between you and me, anything stopping me from

1175. seeing your word, anything stopping me from receiving your

1176. power, stopping me from receiving your power, I turn it

1177. over to you now. Turn it over to you now.

1178. I lay down unforgiveness and I forgive.

1179. I lay down sin and I pursue holiness, but I need strength.

1180. I need power from you. I can't do this.

1181. I've tried to do this. So I surrender under the scalpel

1182. of the Holy Spirit. Take out this Stony heart.

1183. Give me a heart of flesh. I call upon the name of the Lord

1184. Jesus Christ. Call upon the name of the Lord

1185. Jesus, who suffered for my sins and who was raised on the third

1186. day, Who was raised on the third day, Who is alive today, The

1187. only King, the only God, the only one worthy of my life, the

1188. only one worthy of my life. I give you my everything right

1189. now. I give you my everything right

1190. now. Help me to walk with you.

1191. Help me to walk with and love you more.

1192. Thank you for saving me. Thank you for saving, not just

1193. for eternity, not just for eternity, but for today so I can

1194. walk with you and be changed in Jesus name.

1195. Chris and Kayla are going to bring the elf.
