This is the City Place Church Podcast.
-
Here at City Place, we build dreams, ignite faith, and establish leaders that win the lost for God's kingdom.
-
From wherever you're listening, we hope that you are empowered by the message.
-
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
-
Are y'all ready for the word now? Now Josiah, was that Forrest Frank's? Beat underneath that.
-
I was like, ah, boy, I almost forgot where I was.
-
Anybody else? When y'all think of the same thing, like, uh, uh, Uhuh, uh, boy, don't y'all take me there.
-
Don't you take me there, Lord.
-
Help us.
-
Hey, um, this is an exciting time for City Place Church.
-
I'm getting ready to jump into the word, but I wanted to introduce y'all to somebody special.
-
I don't know if you, if you've been here for a period of time, you know that one of our missional partners is hope for you mom and, and, and Ms.
-
Amy Nelson.
-
And, and, and so Miss Amy, I, I miss Amy prayed during morning prayer and tore the building up, so if your chair's a little wobbled, it's because she prayed.
-
And so here's what I told her.
-
I set her up.
-
I said, miss Amy, can you pray? And then before, before I service the message, I said, miss Amy, I'm gonna call you up so that you can greet everybody.
-
So come on up, miss Amy.
-
This is Ms.
-
Amy Nelson, founder of you, mom, founder of you, mom, and, and I wanted everybody to meet you because we talk about you all the time.
-
Yeah, don't we? We, we talk about her all the time.
-
And, uh, miss Amy, her and her husband, pastor Darrel Nelson, have spoken life in the city Place church since we started.
-
And, and the last year and a half, as you know, city Place has come alongside her and her family as Pastor Darrel went to be with the Lord, but his mark is still being made on our church, the way we speak life into men.
-
The way we speak life into marriage and ministry and the ability to city place you cover other churches and support other churches.
-
And we felt like it would be really good to just say hello because we always talk about you, but not everybody has seen you.
-
And so earlier you, you, you, you prayed the house down.
-
So knowing that and that you're a preacher mm-hmm.
-
Because you preached, you, you preached in like three minutes of prayer.
-
A whole message.
-
Turn it.
-
You didn't sound like that.
-
You didn't sound like that, but that's how it sounded through.
-
Through my spiritual ears.
-
So would you just say hello to City Place in 13 seconds? No, I'm just playing.
-
I'm just playing.
-
I'm just playing.
-
Would you just greet everybody? Good morning City Place church, and thank you so much.
-
I wanna say to your pastors that you all have really been a arm and a blanket to my children and myself.
-
I mean, even during a particular time when Darrell was going through the season, we still have the blanket that you all sent to him that would be taken with him to chemo to show the degree that you all covered our family.
-
So thank you.
-
And we're still standing because of your prayers.
-
So thank you.
-
Give yourselves a hand for that.
-
That's right.
-
That's because of your faithfulness and you have leaders that love the Lord.
-
Even with the ministry, as we serve moms, because of the donation and what you all give, we are allowed to minister to single moms that have chosen life.
-
And I tell pastor all the time, I said, listen, we couldn't do what we do without a church in Orlando.
-
That's blessing a ministry in West.
-
Palm Beach, so thank you.
-
You know, over 2000 years ago, a young girl's Yes.
-
Changed the universe.
-
Your yes is changing the universe, so thank you.
-
It's changing regions, it's breaking strongholds.
-
It's allowing young girls who think that maybe their purpose is over.
-
You're allowing them to see that it's just beginning.
-
So thank you for what you do.
-
Thank you for your leadership.
-
Thank you for your prayers, and keep doing what you're doing and keep making room.
-
Amen.
-
That's exciting.
-
Y'all are up here, bro.
-
Yeah.
-
Y'all walking up here.
-
So, so, so we actually, we, we've loved supporting you, mom.
-
It's, it's been a blessing.
-
And in, in, in December, um, city place we got together and, um, we gave a seeds offering and we thought that we would give like double.
-
What we did and, and sponsor one more moms daycare and, and stuff like that.
-
And so the fellas, if you don't mind, right, right there, Rudy, who's gonna come over? We, we got something for you.
-
So we, we didn't just want you to pray and speak, but we wanted to give you an additional donation to cover.
-
One more.
-
Mom, you go ahead and take that one.
-
One more.
-
Mom.
-
And so we've already given City Place.
-
You've given over $20,000 already.
-
But last year we got together and we said, well, what if we covered daycare for one more mom for one more year? And so we just want you to know that we are in for the ride.
-
Come on, we are in, we are in for the ride.
-
And, uh, we cannot wait to see what the Lord, what the Lord does.
-
So, so it was a setup.
-
And you may have known.
-
You may have known, and you're playing poker.
-
I did not know.
-
You didn't know.
-
Yeah.
-
So, so I did a lot to, to try to finagle her here.
-
I told her that we wanted to see her boys.
-
Boys, we didn't wanna see you.
-
We wanted I'm just, I'm just kidding.
-
I'm just kidding.
-
No, but is it okay if we pray and I'll have one of the guys pray, uh, over Miss Amy.
-
Uh, I saw a stat, it was like 20,000 diapers.
-
Now, now they've added you, you actually shared that the cost has actually risen because you're doing so much more now.
-
It's $10,000 a year because they've included, um, they've included, uh, mental health for, for every young lady apartments in addition to supplies.
-
So when you and I are giving of our tithe and our offering, you get to see the product.
-
Amen.
-
Amen.
-
So Rudy, would you just pray over Miss Amy? Lord, we thank you for the kingdom impact, Lord Jesus that extends so much beyond the walls, Lord Jesus, as um, members, Lord Jesus, as we impact through our giving, because at first you gave through us through your son Jesus Christ, Lord Jesus.
-
So that same spirit of giving is done through the members, but to be able to impact Lord Jesus.
-
Mothers all over the place, Lord Jesus.
-
So, Lord Jesus, we begin to thank you, we honor you Lord Jesus.
-
And this is just a, a sign of gratitude, Lord Jesus, and motivation for her to continue the kingdom impact Lord Jesus from mothers across, uh, her, her, her, her sphere of, uh, influence, Lord Jesus.
-
So we thank you in advance.
-
In Jesus name, amen.
-
Amen.
-
Amen.
-
Congratulations.
-
Come on.
-
Can we celebrate Miss Amy, founder of you, mom? Isn't that awesome city place? That's what you're doing.
-
It's what you're doing.
-
Isn't it good when you're, when, when you are a part of a church that's generous, like, and we tell you what's being done like well done.
-
For those of you who gave during the seeds offering, you sold in December and now you get to see.
-
The financial seed that you sow is going into good hands and so well done.
-
If you happy Bibles, go to meet the second Chronicles, chapter 22nd Chronicles, chapter 20.
-
And keep praying.
-
'cause we, you know, we, we we're believing the Lord that we'll have our church vehicle, our missional vehicle and find our location of where we can do small groups and have a church office throughout the week.
-
Uh, just keep praying.
-
The Lord's up to something and anything can happen.
-
So I'm gonna, I'm gonna read a little bit.
-
I just want you to know that I'm gonna start some thoughts today.
-
We're gonna talk about prayer and fasting, and then we're gonna bleed it into next week.
-
Okay? I'm gonna give us a focus through a story.
-
I'm gonna read 22 verses.
-
The story is, is, is action packed.
-
Uh, it talks about fasting, it talks about prayer.
-
I'm gonna give you some thoughts that I feel like the Lord gave me for our focus, for prayer and fasting.
-
Okay? And then I'm gonna give us a charge and a challenge.
-
As we leave today on your seat, you're gonna find a sheet of paper.
-
It's double sided.
-
It's got our message notes for today, and then it's got five days of a Bible study based on what we study this morning.
-
Okay? And then on our church website, city place church.com/
-
21 days, we've got a worship playlist, two hours of worship.
-
We've got the same devotional you can download.
-
We've got a prayer journal that's about a hundred plus pages.
-
Leads you through prayer.
-
So we've really tried to place in your hands every resource so that prayer doesn't become a, you know, some sort of challenge.
-
It becomes enjoyable.
-
And so we wanna encourage everybody to lean in as much as you can, and let's just see what God does if we all lean in together as we read in Second Chronicles, anything can happen.
-
Also on your seat, there's a prayer card.
-
At the end of service, I'm gonna ask you to complete that and give it to one of the, our, our first impressions team members, or drop it in the in the box, because we're going to pray over these every week, every Sunday, and we're just gonna see what will happen.
-
Amen.
-
Second Chronicles chapter 20, it says this Now, when happened after this, that the people of Moab, with the people of Ammon and others with them besides Ammonites, came out against Jha effect.
2 Chronicles 20 chapter mention
-
Some came and told Jehoshaphat saying A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea, from Syria.
-
Verse three, watch now.
-
And Jehoshaphat feared and set himself to seek the Lord, and he proclaimed a fast throughout all of Judea.
-
So Judah gathered together to ask help from the Lord and from all the cities of Judah.
-
They came to seek the Lord.
-
Since PHA stood in the, the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem in the house of the Lord, be before the new court and said, oh Lord God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven? And do you not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations and in your hand, is there not power and might.
-
So that no one is able to stand against you.
-
Sometimes you gotta remind God who he is, even though he already knows.
-
But when you remind him, you start listening to who he really is.
-
Okay.
-
Y'all good? Yep.
-
I better slow down.
-
Still got more verses to read.
-
You are not, are you? Not our God who drove out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and gave it to the descendants of Abraham, your friend, forever, and they dwell in it and have built you a sanctuary in it.
-
For your name saying, if disaster comes upon us, soar judgment, pestilence, or famine, we will stand before this temple and in your presence and cry out to you in our affliction.
-
And watch now and you will hear us and save.
-
And now here are the people, these enemies.
-
Amen.
-
Moab and Mount Sr.
-
Whom you would not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them and did not destroy them.
-
Here they are rewarding us by coming to throw us out of watch.
-
Now your possession.
-
Did y'all see that? Yeah.
-
Here they are trying to come and take your healing from my body.
-
Here they are trying to come and take your mindset from me.
-
They're trying to steal your peace that you gave me, your life that you gave me.
-
They trying to take what you gave me and make it their own.
-
Y'all see that? Like the things that we possess actually belong to God.
-
Jeha, just reminding God, just so you know, the house we live in, that's yours.
-
They coming against you thinking they coming against us.
-
Y'all all right? Yeah.
-
Just setting the tone.
-
I can't see very much, so I gotta, I might reread a verse 'cause I don't know where I am.
-
Ain't he good? Thank you, Lord Jesus.
-
The enemy's trying to steal my vision.
-
Come on, Lord.
-
Right.
-
Lets just cry out to him now.
-
So let me reread verse 10, because sometimes you gotta rejoice in the Lord.
-
And again, I say rejoice, and now here are the people of heaven.
-
You let 'em invade and they did not destroy them.
-
Verse 11, here they are rewarding us by trying to throw us outta your possession, which you gave us to inherit.
-
And oh God, will you not judge them? For, we don't have any power against this great multitude that is against us, nor do we know what to do.
-
But watch now, but our eyes are on you.
-
Let's freestyle some notes really fast here.
-
I wanna highlight a couple of things and then we're gonna finish.
-
Listen, there are moments with God where we have to be intentional when we are communicating with God, but recognizing in our communicating with God that we're also warring with the enemy like.
-
There is this reminding God of who he is while also not paying attention to the enemy.
-
Y'all see that? Yeah.
-
Like God, you said God, you promised God.
-
It's your possession.
-
And do you know the distinct enemy that is bothering you? Like intentional communication with God is also warfare with the enemy.
-
You can ignore the enemy while boasting about your God, and it'd still be warfare.
-
Like it says that he moved in fear, proclaimed to fast, then focused on God, and and wasn't even distracted by the enemy.
-
Like when we pray and fast in this season, we wanna posture ourselves to intentionally communicate with God.
-
And what if we focus so much on God? All of his promises, all that he gave us, that the enemy, we wasn't even gonna give him no time.
-
Y'all trending, okay? Yep.
-
So what if you and I paid a close, close attention and committed to standing in his presence and focusing on him? Verse 13, look at, look at the, the commitment of Jehosaphat and the people of Judah when it came time to pray and fast.
-
Now, watch this now, all of Judah, including their children.
-
Their wives, their little ones stood before the Lord.
-
Picture that, Hey, little Tony.
-
Hey little Sally.
-
Hey little Tyrone.
-
Come here.
-
We're gonna model for you and show you at a young age what God will do for you and through you.
-
It wasn't just an adult prayer and fast.
-
It was the little kids coming too.
-
Why? Because there's power in them.
-
Yep.
-
We don't know what really unlocked it could have been little Sammy's prayer.
-
Lord, my eyes are on.
-
You could have been the baby who carried purpose, and the baby's crying out because Psalm says, out of the mouths of babes, he's ordained praise to steal and silence the enemy.
-
It's the first Sunday and I'm going to go hard.
-
Like what if we were so intentional that anything could happen? What if during this 21 days of prayer and fasting, we didn't tell the students, you don't have to do this.
-
This is just for them.
-
What if our students locked in and said, yeah, I'm praying and I'm fasting too.
-
I'm praying and fasting for myself.
-
I'm praying and fasting for my school.
-
I'm praying and fasting for my home and let's just keep going.
-
And he says that they stood before the Lord.
-
Now watch.
-
They pray they're fast.
-
Look at verse 14.
-
Then the spirit of the Lord came upon Jesus.
-
Jesus, you who was a Levi.
-
In the midst of the assembly in verse 15, he says, listen, all of you and you inhabitants of Jerusalem and you King Jehosaphat.
-
So there's a word of the Lord for the people.
-
There's a word of the Lord for the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
-
And then God speaks to the king.
-
So it wasn't just God spoke to the king, God spoke to the people.
-
He spoke to the other citizens, and then he spoke to the king.
-
Like God didn't just look at, okay, here comes the leader.
-
We're just gonna speak to him.
-
No, God spoke to the people.
-
God spoke to the citizens, and then God spoke to the leader.
-
God wants to speak to every single person in this room.
-
He doesn't wanna pass anybody by.
-
Can you imagine if all of us locked in and had this posture, if anything can happen? Like the little ones, the teenagers, the adults, God goes, let me speak to every single person and the citizens and then I'll speak to the leader.
-
God is so good.
-
I hope y'all are turned in and I'm not just happy.
-
Look, says thus says the Lord to you.
-
To, to the people.
-
And the citizens and the leader, watch.
-
Now listen, all of you do not be afraid, nor dismayed for the great multitude for the battle is not yours, but it's God's tomorrow.
-
Go down against him.
-
They will surely come up against you and you'll find them at the end of the brook.
-
Look at God just telling you what's gonna happen.
-
And then in verse 17, you'll not need to fight this battle, but position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation, the deliverance of the Lord.
-
Who is with you, Judah and Jerusalem.
-
Do not fear.
-
Do not be dismayed tomorrow.
-
Go out against them, for the Lord is with you.
-
Everybody look up at me.
-
Here the Lord speaks.
-
After they commit to praying and fasting, he tells them.
-
I already got it.
-
It's actually not your fight.
-
Why? Because it wasn't your possessions.
-
Did y'all see that? Like your husband's like, Hey Lord, your stuff, they trying to evict us from your house.
-
Like, and so God goes, you know what? Since it's my stuff, it's my fight.
-
Like what if this year was God's year? What if the thing that we're praying for, we go, you know what? Here you go.
-
So then God steps in and goes, you know what? That's my year for you.
-
That's my stuff that I gave you.
-
So guess what? Let me put in my mouthpiece.
-
Let me step into the ring.
-
You don't have to fight, but here's what I do need.
-
I do need you in the stands.
-
Can you imagine? Ding, ding, ding.
-
Ladies and gentlemen, in the right corner.
-
Is your enemy.
-
Ladies and gentlemen, in the left corner are the people, ladies and gentlemen, in the left corner.
-
The people, ladies and gentlemen, in the left corner, the people and y'all in the stands going, no, we fine right here.
-
And then God steps in is like, Hey, actually in this corner.
-
Is the one that they actually came against and the people will just stand and watch.
-
Can you imagine what happens when this enemy, I prepared for the weaker vessel.
-
I prepare for the one that gets distracted when I just speak to them.
-
I, I declare, I, you know, I thought I was preparing for the one that I know I can defeat because that's what he said.
-
Lord, without you, we can't do a single thing, but our eyes are on you.
-
Like, what if our intentional communication with God, we recognize that we're communicating with him, growing with him.
-
But wait a second.
-
If we don't pay attention to the enemy, there's also spiritual warfare that God goes, I got this.
-
Anything can happen.
-
Verse 18.
-
Let's see what happens when, when God says, Hey, you're gonna go and you're gonna, you're gonna, you, you, you, you gotta show up.
-
Sometimes y'all, we do gotta go to the doctor's appointment.
-
Come on.
-
Sometimes we do have to sit through the marriage counseling.
-
Yep.
-
Sometimes we do have to walk out the, the season of singleness.
-
Yep.
-
And we have to, we have to believe God for the prayer request.
-
But if it's his, I mean, God, I think you should fight right.
-
So verse 18 says now, now watch.
-
Now he has a prophetic word from God.
-
God's already spoken.
-
He's given him the victory.
-
But watch what happens.
-
Watch Jehoshaphat's reaction after God tells him he's got the victory.
-
Verse 18, and Jehoshaphat bowed his head and his face to the ground, and all of Judah and the inhabitants of J of Jerusalem bowed before the Lord worshiping the Lord.
-
Watch this here now.
-
Jehosaphat goes and calls a fast.
-
All of the people say, we're gonna fast with the, the prophet comes and speaks the word watch.
-
Now look at the order to the people, to the citizens, to the leader.
-
Remember, I did that for y'all.
-
Spoke to the people, to the citizens, to the leader.
-
Everybody was involved.
-
God speaks so clear.
-
Then look at the order again.
-
Then the leader goes, and we will worship, and the people go and so will we.
-
Do it again.
-
To me, there's a, there's a issue.
-
Okay, everybody, we're gonna seek the Lord.
-
God speaks to the people, to the citizens, then to the leader.
-
After the leader hears that, he goes, well, let me lead the way with worship and prayer.
-
And then the people go, okay, we worship, we pray.
-
Let me just say this, Ty and I.
-
Already have a stirring of what the Lord wants to do for you.
-
We, before we got to January, have already been here.
-
God, do it for 'em.
-
God show up for 'em.
-
Oh, I wish y'all could see behind the scenes, God meet 'em at the point of their need.
-
God, they've been holding on.
-
So God, we're gonna stand in the gap for 'em.
-
God, we gonna believe for him.
-
Now, God, when we get to 21 days, anything can happen to blow our mind.
-
God, I pray that they'll come with us and then anything can happen if all of us go together.
-
Jehosaphat begins to pray and worship, and so do all of the people.
-
Y'all may not write down a single thing on your notes.
-
I'm realizing that like why we got blanks.
-
Watch.
-
Then the Levites and the cites stood up watching out to praise the Lord with their voices loud and high.
-
So the leader starts praising.
-
Then the people starts praising now the citizens praising the church leaders start praising, and guess what? They don't keep quiet.
-
They start going crazy loud and high watch, and they haven't had any natural victory yet.
-
All they have is they're encounter with God in prayer and fasting.
-
A prophetic word from the prophet and a promise from God.
-
I hope y'all are all right.
-
Verse 20.
-
So they rose early in the morning, went out to the wilderness of Koa, and as they went out, Jehosaphat stood here, uh, stood and said, hear me.
-
Oh, Judah, you inhabitants of Jerusalem.
-
Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be established.
-
Believe his prophets who just spoke and you shall prosper.
-
And when he had consulted with the people he appointed those who should sing to the Lord and who should praise the beauty of his holiness.
-
Now look at this.
-
And as they went out before the the army, they were singing and we will sing.
-
Praise the Lord for his mercy endures forever.
-
Now everybody look up at me real fast.
-
The Lord told them to go out.
-
To stand still.
-
Wait, wait, wait.
-
Go out and stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.
-
I don't know about y'all.
-
My personality type sometimes is like, okay, so he told me to go out and stand still do, do, do, do you know what I may have done? Because I'm sitting in the stands now.
-
I can't wait to see this.
-
But notice the posture.
-
We gonna worship.
-
And you know what? Since we've already got victory, why don't we just go ahead and celebrate along the way, and when we get there, like, we already got the victory, so let's just go ahead and make some noise.
-
If he already promised it to us, why would we praise him afterwards? Let's praise him during like, since he already gave us the victory, we not gonna make God mad by lifting up his name.
-
While we watch him do his thing, it's so awesome.
-
Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, and then they're like favor.
-
Bless God in the sanctuary.
-
Bless God in the fields of plenty.
-
Bless God in the darkest family, every chance I get, I bless your name, bless God.
-
Can you imagine? The other warriors are like, ho ha ha ha.
-
And they hear, bless God, hit the stands, bless God.
-
Hit the field up.
-
That's who we're going up against.
-
And listen, they not even in the ring, they in the stands.
-
Watch this.
-
Notice the action step during prayer and fasting.
-
It's not solemn.
-
Their praise is a default before anything natural occurs.
-
He already told us, shoot, we going to praise.
-
We're gonna praise his name forever.
-
His mercy endures forever.
-
I need to work out.
-
That was a whole 30 minute Jane Fonda right there.
-
Anybody know Jane Fonda Leotard.
-
Jane Fonda.
-
Ah.
-
Alright, here we go.
-
22.
-
22.
-
22.
-
What is happening? I know the Lord's gonna meet us and me.
-
Verse 22.
-
I gotta work on my cardio.
-
I need your help.
-
Nar.
-
Whew.
-
Watch, watch, look at, look, look at verse 22.
-
So they show up, right? And they're, they're, they're fired up.
-
And this is what happens now when they began to sing, tune this thing up, y'all bless.
-
Oh, it is like, no, no, no.
-
When they began to sing.
-
Not during the third song of the Worship set.
-
So look, when y'all walk through that door right here and y'all hear that music getting outta y'all car, you should be tuning up.
-
Hey, I know what devo is, something they be doing.
-
Y'all should be tuning up because when you come through that door and you are about to come into a place of praise, bless God in the saying to w, all right, let's keep going.
-
Look.
-
Look, it says Now when they began to sing, watch what happens.
-
The Lord said, ambushes.
-
When they began to sing.
-
When they began to sing, can we just have a little bit of fun? Yes.
-
Was that with bl that that's the beginning of singing, right? Yeah.
-
Every.
-
Was that ever? Or was that the, huh? Like if we could just posture ourself that anything could happen.
-
Communication with God is intentional.
-
We're not even paying attention to the person in the right side of the ring.
-
God has stepped in because everything that we're believing for everything that He's given us is his anyway.
-
So since it's yours fight, and you know what, I'm not just gonna stand there like I paid for the ticket.
-
I'm showing up because you asked me to, and since you told me to show up, you need some cheerleaders.
-
Bless God.
-
Sanctuary, bless God.
-
Prayer.
-
Write this down.
-
It may not even be in your notes.
-
Prayer should be our first response, not our last resort.
-
We already said that.
-
Can we pray first, whether he's showing up or not? Can we just communicate with him knowing that we can silence our stinking enemy? Fasting with prayer needs to be a part of our spiritual lifestyle.
-
It needs to be a spiritual part of our lifestyle city.
-
Place someone to challenge us.
-
Let's not just fast in January.
-
Why do we fast write this down? We fast because there's a burden.
-
We need God's guidance.
-
You can write these down.
-
We need God's health.
-
We need God's power.
-
We have his need.
-
Can we do bless God? Can we do that? I'm sure you could probably slow it down.
-
'cause otherwise I would be in a constant workout.
-
We, we, we, we fast because we need deliverance or maybe ministry or marriage or family alignment.
-
Here's what fasting means.
-
Here's what fasting means.
-
It means that you and I, we asta abstain from physical gratification for a greater spiritual encounter.
-
I'm sitting aside the food so that I can encounter him.
-
Everything that you and I will experience, hear me.
-
City Place church begins in the spiritual first, and then we experience in the natural watch here.
-
Now they pray.
-
Then God speaks to them about what he's already seen and will do.
-
Stand still, show up and watch me do it.
-
He told them what was on his mind.
-
He told them his plan.
-
He told them about the spiritual victory before the fight.
-
When we fast and pray.
-
We set aside the thing that's physical, the purpose of fasting, write these things down if they're not in your notes, that we're gonna humble ourselves before God while denying ourselves the thing that's priority to us.
-
Anything can happen.
-
Fasting is gonna align our heart to gods.
-
To his purpose and to his power, it's gonna align us to his purpose and to his power.
-
So let me give you a couple of prayer focuses, and then I'm gonna, I'm gonna just go through these really, really fast and then we'll lean into a few of the last ones next week.
-
Is that all right? There's some focuses that I'm, that we're gonna pull from second Corona.
-
Here's the first one, and I felt like the Lord was really challenging me for us, is we're gonna pray and fast watch now with a passion to know him and his voice, we're gonna pray and fast with passion to know him and his voice.
-
Can I, can I, can I give you the, the final part of that point, the way the Lord gave it to me.
-
That we are not to position ourselves just for results.
-
'cause sometimes we put God in our timeline and then we finish prayer and we finish fasting and watch.
-
Now we leave the season of prayer and fasting with less faith than at the beginning because it didn't happen in our timeline.
-
And so the Lord wants us to know him and his voice as priority.
-
We sought the Lord because we're trying to hear what he has to say.
-
We've got this obstacle in front of us.
-
We just need to know what he's saying first and foremost, Psalms chapter 73 28 says, but it is good for me to draw near to God.
Psalms 73 chapter mention
-
I have put my trust in him that I may declare all of your works.
-
It's good for me to draw near to him.
-
We could say, God, you come to me.
-
No, no, no.
-
It's good for me and you to draw to him.
-
Can we, can we, can we just kind of go, God, you know what? You are released.
-
I, I know you're chasing me down.
-
We sing about it, but you are released.
-
I'm coming to you.
-
Those who seek me with my, with your whole heart will find me.
-
James four eight says, John, near to God, and he will John near to you.
-
I wanna challenge you this week to read Matthew Chapter six is a part of our devotional study time where God talks about when you pray, don't be like the hypocrites making a lot of noise.
-
When you go into the secret place, your Heavenly Father hears you.
-
And then he says, when you fast.
-
So it's expected of us to pray and to fast.
-
Number two.
-
Number two, just pull it from Second Chronicles.
-
You and I are gonna fast and pray.
-
Watch now from a position of victory, we're gonna fast and pray from a position of victory.
-
They were victorious before they went out to the battle.
-
They already had the promise of God of victory.
-
You and I already had the promise of God of victory.
-
Whether the request has been answered or not, you sit in a seat of victory.
-
Am I by myself? You sit in a seat of victory.
-
Repeat this after me.
-
I am victorious.
-
You already victorious the prayer request.
-
The need is not the thing that defines you.
-
He's already given you that.
-
One Corinthians chapter 1557 says, but thanks be to God who gives us the victory.
-
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, you've already been made victorious.
-
And then number three are, we're gonna do something sacred here in a moment to kick off 21 days of prayer.
-
Is it okay if I finish this next week? Is that all right? You and I are gonna fast and pray from an attitude of gratitude and praise.
-
You and I are gonna fast and pray from an attitude of gratitude and praise.
-
Y'all.
-
I've been guilty of going extended periods of time without realizing how faithful God has been.
-
So here's what I wanna do right here in this moment, I, if you got a sheet of paper, a phone, I want you to take 10 seconds.
-
10 seconds.
-
I want you to write down as many things.
-
Things that you can give God credit for that's good in your life that you could celebrate.
-
Ready, set, go.
-
You got 10 seconds.
-
Write it down.
-
Write it down.
-
Write it down.
-
Write it down.
-
Write it down.
-
Jot it down.
-
Jot it down.
-
Jo it down.
-
Two more seconds, two more seconds as you're finishing up.
-
Second Corinthians chapter two, verse 14 says, now, thanks be to God who always leads us, who always leads us in triumph in Christ Jesus.
-
He's always leading us into triumph.
-
William Ward said this, God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today.
-
Have you used one of them to say thank you? 86,400 seconds have he used one of them to say thank you, Meister.
-
Eckhart says, if the only prayer you said in your whole life was thank you, that would suffice.
-
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
-
This is literally what they said.
-
He said, Hey, listen, God, I just want you to know you made the promise.
-
Just want you to know our ancestors.
-
I just want you to know that all this land belongs to you.
-
We're just reminding you of everything that you've just said, like we acknowledge what you've already done.
-
We've acknowledged that you've already spoken.
-
We've acknowledged that we are here in your land, your possession because of your goodness and your faithfulness.
-
Sometimes you and I have to go from a place and a posture of gratitude and praise.
-
This is the point that the Lord got me the most is because as we go through these 21 days of prayer, God is gonna reveal to you his goodness in your life, day after day, year after year, and that should be our fuel as we fast and pray.
-
That He's already been good.
-
He's already been good.
-
So look back at your list.
-
Look at, look.
-
Look back at your list.
-
Now, here's what I want you to do.
-
I want you to have a moment, and I just want you to praise him right where you are.
-
So as we get ready to kick off 21 days of prayer, I just want you to have silent prayer and go, God, I just thank you.
-
I just wanna thank you for my family.
-
Thank you that I woke up this morning.
-
Thank you that I'm alive and healthy.
-
Thank you that I see you.
-
Thank you that I wake up every single morning.
-
And it's new every day.
-
So write down number four.
-
Write down number four.
-
Next week we're gonna talk about an attitude of gratitude.
-
We're gonna talk about an attitude of gratitude.
-
Here's the fourth thing the Lord told me.
-
We are gonna fast and pray just to know his voice and know him.
-
We're gonna fast and pray from a position of victory that he's already given us fast and pray from attitude and a posture of gratitude and and praise.
-
And then the last one is, is we're gonna pray and fast.
-
Watch now for this kind of faith and power for this kind of faith.
-
And power.
-
Jesus said this in Matthew chapter 17, A demon possessed boy had been presented to his disciples and they didn't do anything.
Matthew 17 chapter mention
-
They couldn't move.
-
And Jesus looks at 'em and says, Hey, listen, if you have the faith the size of a mustard seed, you'll speak to this mountain.
-
Tell it to get out of the way and it'll move and nothing will be impossible with God.
-
And then he looks at his disciple and he says, but this kind only moves through prayer and fasting.
-
The thing that we wanna see God do.
-
It is gonna require us to pray and fast.
-
So what if God, during these 21 days, gave us that kind of prayer and that kind of power in his great name to where you speak to that situation that the enemy wants to, and you're just gonna knock, get out the way.
-
Lord Jesus, you step in 21 days of prayer and fasting.
-
Now here's the invite.
-
Here's the invite and we'll dive a little bit deeper next week.
-
I want to challenge all of us as a church.
-
You can.
-
I wanna challenge all of us to fast and pray for 21 days.
-
Last year here was our challenge.
-
We challenged every single person to fast at least seven days of a selective fast.
-
Let me tell you the types of fast they're on your, they're on your sheet.
-
There's a full fast, which Jesus and Moses and so many others did in scripture where they only drank liquids.
-
This, this fast requires you to communicate with your doctor, say, this is what I'm thinking about doing, and they, and you prepare for the moment.
-
That's a, that's a complete fast.
-
A selective fast or a Daniel fast is where you eliminate meats and sweets and bread and you drink water and juice and fruits and.
-
This is the challenge for us as a church.
-
There's a partial fast from sunup to sundown, and then there's a social fast where we get our soul back in alignment, where we set aside social media and binge in Netflix and scrolling all day and just going, God Hear Our Soul.
-
Last year as a church, we challenged all of you to fast with City Place, at least seven days of a Daniel fast or selective fast, and the response was mind blowing.
-
Mind blowing.
-
Here's the ask this year, because we're growing not numerically only, but we're growing spiritually, and every year we're going to go a little bit higher.
-
I want to challenge you to do a minimum of 14, 14 days as a church, and for some of you 21.
-
I want to ask us to go together.
-
We've seen it in scripture that if we all go together, we are, we're ready, and then we bring it to you, then God speaks to you and the citizens.
-
And then God speaks to us again, and then we're gonna be your posture of praise and worship.
-
So I want to challenge you to fast at least 14 days with us, but all 21, we've got some options right there.
-
And here's what I want you to do on that card.
-
I don't have the card.
-
I want you to write down the thing that you're gonna praise God for, that you're gonna be praising God for.
-
That's is your platform, and then what you're gonna believe him for.
-
This is what I'm gonna praise God for.
-
This is my posture of praise.
-
If all I did was praising for this one thing for 21 days, this is gonna be my feud.
-
But then God, since it's yours, I'm gonna write down the thing I'm praying for and believing for in faith it belongs to you.
-
It belongs to you.
-
And so as you leave, there are baskets a a bin with our logo on it where we drop our tithe and off and you drop it there, or you can drop it at the connect spot.
-
In the Forer.
-
Is that good? If we go together and we pray together, Thanks for joining us.
