  1. Well church, it is MLK weekend and there were tens of thousands of people that stood in the gap for you and I to be able to sit in a room and worship together and it looked like heaven.

  2. We will celebrate Dr.

  3. King's life tomorrow.

  4. National holiday, but there were so many others, different nationalities who stood in the place so that we can worship together.

  5. Sometimes you can just have a cookout.

  6. The kids are home from school and we can forget that someone paid a price, others paid a price so that we can worship freely on a Sunday and you can look beside and see someone that don't look like you.

  7. And so I'm gonna pray this morning and, uh, we just gonna see what the Lord does.

  8. But aren't you glad that you get to worship in a place that looks like heaven, part of city place's, vision? And if we haven't met yet, my name is Damon and my beautiful wife Taisha.

  9. We have the privilege of being the senior pastors of City Place.

  10. The Lord spoke to our church, uh, or spoke to our heart that we were gonna plant a church, which will be 10 years next month, and that we were supposed to be a multiethnic.

  11. Multi-generational church that is life giving.

  12. And so every single week when we gather together, we don't know if y'all are coming or not.

  13. Like honestly, we don't know if you're coming or not.

  14. But every time we look around and we see people who don't look the same, we know that God continues to confirm every single week what's been in his heart.

  15. And sometimes we can take those things for granted because there are some places that are comfortable being comfortable.

  16. Yeah.

  17. And so we fight for.

  18. The Lord doing what he sees fit in his house.

  19. And so never take it for granted that you get to worship passionately with people who may not look like you.

  20. Ain't that good? Isn't that good? So are you happy to be in God's house this morning? Now are you gonna be quiet on a holiday weekend? No.

  21. So three people are like, no, no, we won't be.

  22. The others are like, Hey, it's a holiday.

  23. It's a holiday.

  24. Would y'all mind turning up the lights? Uh, I, I wanna give you the context of today, and I wanna bring some things to your attention.

  25. All the ladies in the house say, ha.

  26. Hey.

  27. Oh, I love it.

  28. Uh, we have, we have a special night for you at the end of this month.

  29. Uh, it's a Friday night.

  30. It's, it's just for you.

  31. And, and, and we wanna make sure that you have that opportunity to be there.

  32. Last, last year we did, uh, uh, well, we, I wasn't there, but, but the ladies got together and it was a powerful time from all of the things that I heard.

  33. And you deserve a time just for you, right? We make space.

  34. We make space for the men of our church.

  35. We make space for the women of our church.

  36. We make space for married couples.

  37. We're working on some things for those that are go in that si singleness season.

  38. We're working on some things behind the scenes.

  39. For you as well.

  40. We're working on some things for our middle school and high school.

  41. If you are a teenager in here right now, we've got vibes happening right here for you and one of our leaders in the back can guide you to that classroom.

  42. What we're trying to do is we're trying to make space so that you can be spoken life too, and so it's going to be a night, January the 30th, 6:30 PM men.

  43. That means that we can gather on that same night.

  44. Come on.

  45. Sorry.

  46. Sorry.

  47. It's not, it's not our night, but I was like, Hey, capitalize, capitalize.

  48. Capitalize.

  49. So many things are happening.

  50. If you have your Bible.

  51. Second Chronicles chapter 20.

    2 Chronicles 20 chapter mention

  52. We've been in a series called Anything Can Happen.

  53. This is a season in our church where we take 21 days to pray and fast, and we're heading into week number three.

  54. Week number three, uh, we had a challenge by one of our, uh, our, uh, dream team members this morning, and he talked about running on the treadmill and.

  55. He conceded who he was close to finishing and he was about to wind it down into a walking pace.

  56. And the Lord spoke to him and said, Hey, this is not the time for you to walk to the finish.

  57. It's your time to run through the tape.

  58. And he said he hopped back on there another day and he was about to do the same thing.

  59. And the Lord spoke to him and said, Hey, this is not the time to walk through the finish.

  60. This is your time to run through the tape.

  61. And he said in that moment, he decided that he was going to finish the race at the same pace that he'd been running the whole time.

  62. Well, when the clock strike zero, he looked up and he had actually ran further than just the destination he had set before.

  63. And so this is week number three, and you could be like, man, there is a pot or a bucket of chicken on next Sunday morning.

  64. The week can feel like you're just waiting to get back to the food.

  65. But that would not be the goal.

  66. Our passion should be is have I found him yet and is my pace remaining the same? So I wanna challenge us as a church and if you, you're here, but you're like, man, I was out of town.

  67. I didn't even know.

  68. You can still jump in.

  69. God can still show up in a week.

  70. This is just us giving him the first part of the first of, of the year and say, God, we want to hear you so clear.

  71. And so I just want to, uh, kind of remind us of where we've been and take us forward.

  72. I felt like the Lord was really challenging me today.

  73. Uh, I, I love to be passionate.

  74. I might be passionate, but I'm gonna say some things today that God is going to say to you to get your attention, okay? He's gonna say some things to you today to get your attention.

  75. You can blame me.

  76. I'm okay with that.

  77. But he is gonna say some things to get your attention.

  78. And here's the thing that I'm gonna challenge all of us, because he was saying it to you.

  79. And literally last night, I'm sleeping and I'm tossing and turning because he keeps like nudging me of what I'm gonna say in the morning.

  80. And I'm rolling over like, gimme 10 more minutes, Lord.

  81. Like for real.

  82. Gimme 10 more minutes, Lord.

  83. And it's just the same thing.

  84. I'm about to say some things and I'm trying to get their attention.

  85. So if at any point in your life you've been ignoring him, don't do it today.

  86. Let's pray.

  87. Father, in Jesus name, thank you for a time of prayer.

  88. Thank you for a time where we can gather together and lift up our voices to you.

  89. God, we've declared at city place that we don't wanna do anything in the religious nature.

  90. Because the tradition of religion can make the word of God of no effect.

  91. So Holy Spirit, as we come around your word today, pray that we lean into what you want to say as you're trying to get our attention.

  92. God, it will be a waste of our time for you to be here.

  93. Speak to us and us.

  94. Take it as worthless.

  95. So, God, we place value on your word.

  96. We wanna leave here charged and changed, and so we're making ourselves available to hear you so clear.

  97. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray.

  98. Amen.

  99. Amen.

  100. If you're ready, say, let's go on your seat.

  101. You're gonna find some message notes, uh, to follow along today.

  102. And then on the back of it is another five day, uh, devotional.

  103. I am so sorry.

  104. I got.

  105. Some updates last week that I left out the main reading text in last week's devotional, and I heard that the sisterhood thread was burning up.

  106. Where is he trying to lead us? We don't know.

  107. But what you didn't know was that the Holy Spirit was trying to speak to you.

  108. No.

  109. So now you actually have on the back sheet, the actual text.

  110. I'm gonna read the text, uh, that we've been reading the first, the 22 verses.

  111. I just want you to settle in and read along.

  112. The Lord wants to say something and I, I have to create the context yet again.

  113. Second Corinthians, uh, Chronicles Chapter 20 says this, it says, then it happened after the people of Moab with the people of Amman and the others with them besides the Ammonites came to battle against Phat.

  114. Then some came and told Phat, saying A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea, from Syria.

  115. And Pha feared and set himself to seek the Lord, and he proclaimed the fast throughout all of Judah.

  116. So Judah gathered together to ask help from the Lord, from all the cities of Judah.

  117. They came to seek the Lord.

  118. Then phat stood in the the, in the assembly of Judah in Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord before the new court and said, oh Lord God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven? And do you not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations? And in your hand, is there not power And might.

  119. So that no one is able to stand against you, are you not God, who drove out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and gave it to the descendants of Abraham, your friend, forever, and they dwell in it and have built you a sanctuary in it for your name, saying, if disaster comes upon us, sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine, we will stand before this temple and in your presence.

  120. For your name is in this temple and we will cry out to you in our affliction and you will hear us and you will save.

  121. Everybody look up at me real quick.

  122. Phat is reminding God of what he's already said and their commitment that they had made should anything arise.

  123. They are reminding God of what he's already said and the commitment that they have already made.

  124. Can I just point this out for us this morning? It is okay for us to remind God of what he's already promised because sometimes we need to hear it again for ourself.

  125. It's not that he's forgotten, it's just that in a moment of fear or concern, we need to get it up out of our mouth.

  126. God, you said because I need to hear it because I need somebody to encourage me, but actually it's already in me.

  127. Y'all good? Sometimes you gotta remind God of what he's already said and the commitment that you've made.

  128. You good? Yeah.

  129. Let's keep reading.

  130. Verse 10.

  131. And now here we are.

  132. And now here the people of Amon, Moab in Monier, who you let, who you did not let Israel invade when they came to the land of Egypt, but they turned from them and did not destroy them.

  133. Here they are rewarding us.

  134. By coming to throw us out of your possession, which you gave us as an inheritance.

  135. There.

  136. He's reminding God again, God, everything that you, you, you've given us, belongs to you.

  137. We call it our own, but it belongs to you.

  138. Verse 12, our God, will you not judge them for we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us, nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on you.

  139. Verse 13, now all Judah with the little ones, their wives and their children stood before the Lord.

  140. Then the spirit of the Lord came upon jeh, the son of Zacharia, in the midst of the assembly, verse 15, and he said, listen, all of you, Judah, and you inhabitants, and all of you of of Jerusalem, and you King Jehosphaphat, thus says the Lord to you.

  141. Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed because of this great multitude for the battle is not yours, but it's God's tomorrow.

  142. Go down against them.

  143. They will surely come up to zz.

  144. You'll find them at the end of the brook before the wilderness of reel.

  145. You will not need to fight this battle.

  146. Position yourselves.

  147. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord who is with you.

  148. Do not fear.

  149. Do not be afraid for tomorrow.

  150. Go out for the Lord is with you.

  151. This morning I want to lean in to verse 13.

  152. Because they have prayed, they have fasted, they have sought the Lord.

  153. They have reminded God of what he have said, and then God spoke.

  154. They positioned themselves to hear and God spoke.

  155. God wants us to hear this morning that he is speaking.

  156. We can't be so busy to where we miss what he is saying.

  157. God is speaking.

  158. But sometimes we get so busy that we miss what he's saying.

  159. Y'all ready to journey During these 21 days of prayer, we declare that anything can happen and when you read 18 all the way through verse 22.

  160. The Bible says that phat, after he hears what God says to him, he begins to worship and he bows down, and then the people start bowing down and he wakes up the next morning and he tells them, Hey, guess what? We're actually gonna show up for the fight and we're going to give God praise as we go.

  161. We're gonna declare how good he is.

  162. We're gonna declare, declare the beauty of his holiness.

  163. And it says that he tells the people, I need the worshipers and the Levites to go before the warriors.

  164. And as you go, praise, and it says that they started going out to the fight.

  165. They're not gonna have to fight, but they start praising God based on what God said.

  166. God hadn't done anything but they weren't so busy to where they missed what he was saying.

  167. They positioned themselves through prayer and fasting to hear what God would say.

  168. And when God spoke, they responded with praise.

  169. And it says that as they begin to sing and as they begin to praise, the Lord said an ambush and the warriors who were coming out against them fought against themselves.

  170. Y'all, anything can happen.

  171. Come on, when we let God.

  172. Do his thing.

  173. That's right.

  174. But we position ourselves.

  175. We position ourselves to hear what he has to say.

  176. Have you ever thought about how God actually fights for you? Have you ever thought about that? Have you ever thought that the miracle that happened in your life financially, that the the person told you was a clerical error? Have you ever thought that maybe it wasn't a clerical error? That it was maybe the enemy having to fight against himself because of what you did in the previous season.

  177. Y'all are looking at me.

  178. Is it a holiday? Good.

  179. Let's not give him holiday interaction.

  180. Like, have you ever thought about how God really fights for you? Yeah, because sometimes the the x-ray and they say, oh, I'm sorry, we looked at the x-ray wrong.

  181. No, no, no, no, no.

  182. You pointed it out to me.

  183. I had a moment of fear, but I prayed and when I came back, you took the x-ray a second time.

  184. You saw what you saw the first time.

  185. So did I.

  186. But have you ever thought about what happens when you pray, when he speaks to you and you listen, and then what he does? What if we gave God permission to just fight it how he wants to fight it? Come on.

  187. I love the fact that we see that God will ambush your enemy.

  188. Have we thought about how big God really is? Because it maybe you will.

  189. I won't be alone.

  190. Maybe there's been seasons of your life where you felt like the enemy was God's equal.

  191. How about that? No, I'm alone.

  192. Okay.

  193. Maybe, maybe, maybe there were times in your life where you felt like the enemy actually was winning.

  194. Anybody else, please so that I'm not alone? Like have you been in those seasons where you're just like, he's just kicking my tail and I don't know if God's gonna win this one? Come on, y'all are looking at me funny.

  195. It's okay.

  196. It's okay.

  197. Because this is the journey that we sometimes take.

  198. But if we would just step back for a moment and really go, well, God, I wonder how you fighting this.

  199. They prayed, they fasted.

  200. Postured themselves.

  201. God speaks.

  202. They go, we gonna praise him just for what he said he was going to do.

  203. And God shows up and the enemy's fighting themselves, the devil.

  204. The devil wants no part of the Jesus that lives on the inside of all of us.

  205. We have no clue what God is doing when he begins to fight for us.

  206. We said this, and you can write this down on your notes if there's space.

  207. Prayer should be our first response, not a last resort.

  208. Prayer is our intentional communication with God, but it's also warfare with the enemy.

  209. Like I grew up with a praying mama, and they would toil at the altar and they call it tearing, and they would start at nine and say, pray service was going to 10 30, and then at 10 30 I'm ready to go home as a kid.

  210. And they go, no, we can't go yet.

  211. We have to wait a little while longer and pray until he shows up.

  212. Come on.

  213. And then at 12 o'clock they still there praying because they knew that God needed to breakthrough in that moment.

  214. And then when they felt the breakthrough, they say, okay, time to go home, baby.

  215. They knew that they were trying to touch heaven, but there was an enemy that was still fighting.

  216. And they decided that we not going home until there's victory for whatever it is we're praying for.

  217. It reminded me of the church in the Book of Acts when Peter was in jail and the Bible says that there was a church praying constantly, and as they were praying constantly, Peter was wrapped up in jail, but as they prayed and angels showed up, was like, yo Peter, it's time to go.

  218. They didn't just pray one time.

  219. Sometimes we go, father, do it.

  220. Then we just go do our thing.

  221. Instead of I'm praying and seeking God in full faith, and God, you do whatever you say you're going to do.

  222. I'm not gonna get busy.

  223. I'm gonna posture my heart to hear what you're going to say.

  224. And after you say what you're going to say, I'm gonna give you praise based on what you said.

  225. Now do your thing.

  226. Prayer is intentional communication with God, but God is stepping in and doing something on your behalf.

  227. Everything in our life begins in the spiritual, and then we experience it and see it in the natural.

  228. So we've been fasting for 21 days heading into our last week, and we're fasting because fasting allows us to sit aside the things that bring us gratification so that we can have a greater spiritual encounter with the father.

  229. We said this, we said that fasting in prayer is expected of the Christ follower.

  230. It's expected.

  231. Matthew chapter six.

  232. Jesus said this When you pray not, Hey, if you pray, go into the secret place.

  233. He says, when you pray.

  234. When you pray, and then to verse 16, he says, moreover, when you fast, don't do it Hypocritically, where you tell everybody's fasting season and you're walking around during lunchtime.

  235. No, no, no.

  236. No, no, no.

  237. I will not be able to sit at the table today because I'm in a holy season of consecration.

  238. No, no, no.

  239. Jesus.

  240. Like get all of that out of the way.

  241. That's a waste of time.

  242. Says when you're fasting, don't even let anybody know because what you're doing in secret, God is going to explode publicly.

  243. Says when you leave, anoint yourself, wash your stinking face.

  244. He didn't add stinking when you read.

  245. Just so you know, don't wanna be judged for that.

  246. When I'm standing before him, you know what I'm saying? I ain't rewriting the Bible.

  247. No, I'm not.

  248. He says, wash your face because what you're doing in private God will do publicly pha and the people are praying privately as a nation.

  249. Could you imagine what would happen? Watch this now if the United States.

  250. We all took one day all believers without going, oh, you Baptist, you Pentecostal, oh, you this and that.

  251. Instead of that, what if we just all said, let's do Chronicles if my people called by my name, humble themself and pray, what would happen then? Right.

  252. Can you imagine if that happened in your own home though, where we said, Lord, I'm gonna give you my best.

  253. And I'm gonna seek your face and I'm gonna let you speak.

  254. We said this, we said that we were gonna pass fast and pray for four things.

  255. During the season of praying, fasting.

  256. We said one, that we were gonna pray and fast from a place of victory.

  257. When we looked at Second Chronicles, we saw that they fastened and prayed and, and they didn't hold back their response, they showed up.

  258. Victory was with them.

  259. You and I are gonna have to show up to the thing that the enemy throws in your face.

  260. It's more powerful for us to look the situation in the face and say, you want no part of the Jesus that's rolling with me? Y'all.

  261. This whole series has been challenging me because I realized that I, I, I do a lot in my own strength while I'm preaching to you.

  262. So often the messages that are preached from a platform, God starts kicking our tail behind the scenes.

  263. Just so you know, and this is not just some sort of feel-good message, I'm asking the Lord all the time.

  264. I'm like, Lord, as I communicate your word, change me at the same time.

  265. It's one of the, the, the, the most powerful things when God starts speaking to me and I'm getting convicted at the same time, because there are times when I wanna do my thing and God's like, no, let me do mine.

  266. So there is victory where you stand when Jesus died on the cross and rose again, he placed you in a seat of victory.

  267. Yeah.

  268. So we're fasting from a place of victory.

  269. We also said that we are focused in seeing God.

  270. We wanna see God move in our life to where we have this kind of faith in power because Jesus told his disciples when they couldn't cast out a, a, a demon possessed boy.

  271. He said, listen, you can have the faith, the size of a mustard seed and speak to the mountain.

  272. However, there are some impossible things that will only move as you're praying and fasting, like prayer and fasting should be a default in our life.

  273. It shouldn't be seasonal.

  274. It should be a part of our life where we go, I've gotta make that major decision.

  275. Can you imagine fasting before you say, I do.

  276. Can you imagine fasting before you go out on that date to make sure they not cray cray? I always get the crazy ones fast, just saying like, yeah, y'all looking at me like, you know what? That might work.

  277. That might work.

  278. Look, I'm, I'm seeing so many heads like, you know what, pastor you right.

  279. I will enter into a season of consecration On that date, I'm gonna look like I'm fasting.

  280. You know what I'm saying? Just to check their heart.

  281. Just to check their heart.

  282. Some listen, some things don't, don't change until you and I put in the spiritual work.

  283. So often we ask God for some big things, but we give him little effort.

  284. We give him little effort, and then we blame him because.

  285. His word says, respond this way.

  286. Engage with me this way.

  287. But we keep doing it in the flesh.

  288. We said number three.

  289. This is where we preached from last week.

  290. We said that we would fast and pray from an attitude of gratitude, from an attitude of gratitude.

  291. We said that when we have a heart of.

  292. A posture of gratefulness and thanksgiving, then God begins to move.

  293. We see that when the, the, the people of Israel begin to praise God and give him glory in advance because his mercy endures forever.

  294. And phat begins to set a whole congregation of people to give gratitude as they're going to the battle, knowing that they're coming from a place of victory.

  295. Like this whole time of prayer and fasting for our church.

  296. We wanna have a posture if God's already done it.

  297. I'm not gonna be disappointed if he doesn't do X, Y, Z.

  298. He's already done it.

  299. I'm already victorious.

  300. And so we've been postured there.

  301. We said that when we have an attitude of gratitude, it gives us perspective.

  302. It, it repositions our heart, it heals us, and it gives us an entrance to his presence.

  303. And then the final thing that we sat, and this is where we're gonna lean in today, where I wanna make sure that we grasp what the Lord is saying to all of us, is we said that we're gonna fast and pray.

  304. With a passion to know him and to hear his voice, a passion to know him, and to hear his voice.

  305. Psalm 73, verse 28 says, it was good for me to draw near to God.

    Psalms 73:28

  306. I put my trust in the Lord and I will declare his works.

  307. James four eight says, draw near to God, and he will draw near to you, draw near to God, and he will draw near.

  308. To you pha focused the people on the Lord.

  309. But it was verses 13 to 17 where God begins to speak and they hear him so clearly to where they don't question what God is saying.

  310. God's literally downloading his heart, his strategy, after they pray and fast and they hear it, they take it as fact, they gra they place great value on it, and then their response is based on what God said.

  311. This morning, we're gonna spend some time so that we can know how to hear God's voice so that we can trust that when God speaks, we'll listen.

  312. But think about this.

  313. Not everyone really wants to know God at the intensity.

  314. He wants to know us.

  315. For many of us in this room, good is good enough for many of us in this room.

  316. Good.

  317. It's good enough.

  318. The Lord gave this to me just challenging me at times.

  319. Comfort feels like passion, but what's happening is unknowingly we've become complacent spiritually, some so, so many of us.

  320. So, so often we are in a place of comfort, but it feels like we're giving passion.

  321. It feels like we're giving passion because maybe we came to church on Sunday and it's what God asked of us, but really, our heart posture may be complacent.

  322. I'm doing the Christian thing and therefore I'm doing my part, but our spirit is complacent.

  323. Here's what fasting and prayer says.

  324. I'm gonna release what I have because I wanna get what he has and I want to hear him clearly.

  325. Just listen to a couple of things the Lord downloaded to me.

  326. It may not even be in your notes.

  327. When you and I set the tone through an attitude in a manner of speech and actions, we're actually setting the tone for him to encounter us.

  328. Prayer will set the tone.

  329. For you and I to converse with the father and to hear from him.

  330. What if you and I focused our prayer and fasting, not on an answered request, but communicating and knowing him.

  331. Like, what if it wasn't about the answered request, but it was simply about knowing him? Write this down, write this down.

  332. Committed prayer and fasting will create a clear distinction from a normal experience.

  333. Committed prayer and fasting creates a clear distinction from a normal experience.

  334. They prayed and fasted, God spoke, and then they saw their enemy turn on themselves.

  335. Don't know about y'all.

  336. That's not normal.

  337. Anybody else see that happening like they pray, they fast.

  338. God speaks.

  339. They watch their enemy turn on themselves.

  340. When we set aside our time for prayer and fasting, communicating with God, we make room.

  341. For the normal to just be placed aside, and we see God's hand move in a mighty, mighty way.

  342. So write this down.

  343. Our focus is hearing God's voice today.

  344. I love it because in John chapter 10, verse three, Jesus says this.

    John 10 chapter mention

  345. He says, the gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice.

  346. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.

  347. When he is brought out his own, he goes on ahead of them and his sheep follow him because they know his voice, but they will never follow a stranger.

  348. In fact, they run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger's voice.

  349. The shepherd goes ahead, the shepherd speaks.

  350. They follow.

  351. They follow the shepherd's voice because they know the shepherd's voice.

  352. Going back to Jehoshaphat, God speaks.

  353. They trust, they show up, but God has already been there ahead of them.

  354. Write this down, write this down.

  355. Write this down.

  356. If you and I don't know his voice, we will rely on someone else's.

  357. If we don't know his voice, we will rely on someone else's.

  358. There are more spiritual voices now on YouTube and podcasts than ever before.

  359. Which one is the right one? It's hard.

  360. Anybody else agree, like the word of God is more available now than ever before.

  361. The question is, is which one is God using to speak to you? It's more impactful if you and I could hear God's voice for ourself even as I'm preaching to you today.

  362. The Bible tells you and I to test what's being preached to you.

  363. I'm comfortable with that for you to go.

  364. Well, what PD said today.

  365. Lord, I'm bringing it to you.

  366. Comfortable with that.

  367. Like if we can't hear his voice, then we'll just listen to anyone's voice.

  368. Luke chapter eight, the parable of the Sower.

  369. Five.

  370. It says this, A farmer went out to sow seed.

  371. And as he SC was scattering it, some fell along the path.

  372. It was trampled on and the birds ate it.

  373. Some fell on rocky ground and when it came up, the plants withered because there was no moisture.

  374. Other seeds fell among thorns, which grew up with it and it choked the plants still other seed fell on good soil.

  375. It came up and yielded a crop a hundred times more than what sow.

  376. And when he said this, he called them out and said, Hey.

  377. He who has an ear, let him hear.

  378. God is always speaking.

  379. And when we read in that story, the seed that's being sowed is the seed of the word of God.

  380. It says that the sower is consistently sowing the word, but when the word of God is spoken, it's fallen on different places, hard ground.

  381. A ground that grabs it for a season and then life's moments suck it out.

  382. The the distracted place that doesn't even place value on it, and then it lands on good soil where they go, no, God, you're speaking to me.

  383. You're, that's mine.

  384. I'm trusting you as you speak.

  385. As I was reading, the Lord just began to speak to me.

  386. He said he will confirm.

  387. He will guide.

  388. He will warn, he will correct.

  389. He will sharpen you and I if we'll make space.

  390. He will lead you.

  391. He will guide.

  392. He will confirm to you.

  393. He will warn and correct.

  394. He will sharpen you if we'll make space.

  395. Hebrew moves Chapter four, verse 12 says, for the word of God is living and powerful and sharper than at any two-edged sword.

  396. Piercing, even the division of soul and spirit joints, marrow and is the discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

  397. So here's the thing, God is always speaking, but we have a listening problem.

  398. So often God is speaking, but so often we have a listening problem.

  399. Phat, he and the people positioned themselves before the Lord and it was their hearing.

  400. That caused them to respond in faith in action.

  401. Damon, why are we talking about hearing God's voice? Because the last thing that we would want to do is to have 21 days of a diet, 21 days of a wishlist and missing what God wants to say and not being able to hear him so clearly because we've been busy during the 21 days.

  402. God wants to speak to every single person, but so often the busyness of life begins to suck out.

  403. The moment where God speaks, you can hear a powerful message and then life comes to try to kick us in the butt.

  404. And guess what? Faith is sucked out of the room.

  405. Have we ever thought why I Sometimes we just need to pause and go, God, I grab home.

  406. Of what you're going to say.

  407. As Jesus was speaking, there were some things that will block and impact.

  408. Write these things down.

  409. Our ability to hear.

  410. The first one is filth.

  411. Filth will block our ability to hear what God has to say.

  412. That can be a hard heart.

  413. Some of the choices that we make unrepentant sin.

  414. It can be the things that people have done towards us that we just won't forgive.

  415. Interactions.

  416. Sometimes the filth in our own heart blocks.

  417. What God wants to do is says the hard path where some seed fail, represent the hard hearts of those who hear God's word, but then the devil comes.

  418. Some of us in this room, you've been holding onto a fence and it's been blocking your ability to hear.

  419. I know it was them, but since you've held onto it, now it's you.

  420. Now it's you.

  421. We are not discounting the pert and the pain, but the longer we hold onto it, it blocks what God is saying because we're so focused on them.

  422. Instead of going, God, I don't know how you gonna handle it, but if I will pray and fast and embrace what you say, you handle the ambush.

  423. I don't need to, sometimes the hard heart.

  424. We will block what God wants to say.

  425. What if in this moment you were like, God, I just give that to you.

  426. What if this morning was the moment where you heard God so clearly to where that moment where the enemy thought that he was more powerful than your God? You left here victorious today.

  427. Can I just pray for you right here in this moment by your head if that's you, father, in Jesus' names, some walked in here hurting because of things of the past, and Father, I just pray right now.

  428. That because of the hardness of heart God, that they'll release to you, whatever it may be.

  429. Maybe they were the instigator.

  430. Maybe they were the one where the pain was caused right here.

  431. If that's you, just say, God, I give it to you.

  432. If you've been thinking those negative thoughts towards them and wishing Ill will just go, God, forgive me for that.

  433. That is not like you.

  434. What if today was an open doorway? For God to be able to minister to you.

  435. What if that was the plug? What if that was the plug? God, do your best work this morning so that they can hear your voice so clear.

  436. With every head bowed and I closed, if you would say, Damon, I've been holding on and having a hard heart and holding onto an offense, will you just wave at me to see who we're praying for? I see you.

  437. I see you.

  438. I see you.

  439. You leave free this morning.

  440. In Jesus' name.

  441. Hands went up all over.

  442. Freedom in Jesus' name.

  443. You can write this Number.

  444. Number two, things that impact our ability to hear stress, stress, stress will impact our ability to hear God.

  445. Have you ever been so busy or you just can't slow down? Or you're just moving so fast and God's got, God's basically giving out stuff through the drive through.

  446. And you're just kind of running and you're just kind of moving.

  447. Listen, what if we just go, God, I'm giving it all to you, and all of my worry, all of my fear, all of my concern, I give it all to you.

  448. It says this in verse 13.

  449. The Stony ground represents those who enjoy listening to sermons, but somehow the message never really gets through to them and doesn't take root and grow.

  450. They know the message is true.

  451. And sort of believe for a while, but when the hot winds of persecution blow, they lose interest.

  452. What if we said, God, I give it all to you this morning.

  453. I give it all to you this morning.

  454. How many of y'all would say you're in a busy season and you've been carrying stress that's been weighing you down? Would you just wave at me? Lemme just pray for you right where you are.

  455. Father, in Jesus name, I just pray for those that's been carrying a load.

  456. God where their mind has been keeping them up late at night, depression, trying to sneak in, and God, they've been thinking more about the thing and it's been distracting them and God, they've been carrying it.

  457. God, this morning they release it to you, God, in your house where your great name resides.

  458. We pull from the faith of PHA this morning and the people.

  459. They don't know how you will show up, but their eyes will be on you.

  460. So we break the back of anxiety and fear and stress and worry and doubt unlocking the ability to be able to hear you so clearly.

  461. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray.

  462. Amen.

  463. Amen.

  464. Is it all right if we just stop right there for the day? I know that there's probably like six more blanks.

  465. And then you might be like, but please, please don't do it.

  466. Listen, next Sunday.

  467. Next Sunday, we're gonna pray.

  468. Pre-service.

  469. Babe, I'll have you come up.

  470. We're gonna pray pre-service one more week.

  471. It's actually day 22 of prayer and fasting.

  472. And we're gonna talk about hearing God's voice next Sunday as well.

  473. I don't wanna rush past it.

  474. Is it, is it okay if we don't rush past being able to hear God's voice? But next Sunday, we're gonna pray at nine 30.

  475. I would, I want to encourage us to show up and take day 22 and let's make prayer a consistent habit and enjoyment for us.

  476. We want we, we want God to show up.

  477. Here's the reason why.

  478. In the Book of Daniel, it says that an angel showed up on day 22 and told Daniel says, Hey, I just want you to know since the first day you prayed, God was working it out, but there was an enemy holding us back to get to you.

  479. But because you remain in a posture of prayer, you are now gonna declare victory and your people will see victory.

  480. And so this is not just a ritual thing.

  481. Nope.

  482. This is us posturing our heart to prayer.

  483. So next Sunday at nine 30.

  484. And then I want to invite you Wednesday at 6:00 AM to pray alongside of us as well.

  485. Can we do it together? Are you ready to hear God's voice? Y'all are quiet.

  486. Can we do it together? Are you ready to hear God's voice? Just a few little treats for the day, and then next week we'll complete.

  487. Amen.
