Even Giants Fall: David’s Fall and Restoration

I told him it's always good to see him. This is where he belongs.

Somebody say amen. This is where he belongs. And amen. We're going to start

with 1 John 1 this morning.

And then we're going to look at 2 Samuel 12. But let's read 1 John.

Even giants fall. 1 John 1, 8-10 If we say that we have no sin,

we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,

and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Amen. Let's look at 2 Samuel 12 while you're standing.

And that's where we're going to concentrate today. 2 Samuel 12.

Well, let's go back up to 11. I want to look at 11 because let's just look at that first verse.

And it came to pass after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle.

That David sent Joab and his servants with him and all Israel,

and they destroyed the children of Ammon and besieged them.

I can't read that. Rabbi. But David tarried still at Jerusalem.

Let's pray one more time. Jesus, we love you this morning. We thank you for your blessings.

This is your word, and it affects every one of us, so we ask you to help us with it today.

We give you praise, give you honor, and thanks.

Amen. And amen, amen.

Amen, amen, amen. Hallelujah.

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. you. Praise God.

Praise God. You may be seated. David, David, we all know about,

we all know about David killing the giant.

We all know that David was a mighty man.

If you look at, you get a chance to look at 1 Samuel 10, we read that David

just was in battle, had a great victory.

And then he goes back home after the great victory.

And he stayed in Jerusalem. But the Bible says it was a time when kings go forth

to battle. It was battle time.

It wasn't leisure time. It was battle time. And they had just had a great victory.

But I want to tell you, just because you have one victory don't mean you need

to try to get another victory.

Praise the Lord. How many knows we need all the victories we can get?

We have to keep pushing. When you live for God, I heard this song on my phone this morning.

I'm pressing on the upward way.

New heights I'm gaining every day. We have to push on the new heights every day. Praise the Lord.

Because the tendency of our world and the tendency of our flesh is to bring

us down. Your flesh pulls you down.

Eat more than you should. say things you shouldn't say, your flesh,

the tendency of the world is down.

So when we have one victory, we don't stop. We have to keep going to the next

victory. Praise the Lord.

Somebody said, I'm not in a valley. I'm just changing mountaintops.

Amen. I'm just changing mountaintops. Praise the Lord. I'm going to that next mountain.

Praise the Lord. But David decided to stay home and he took a vacation,

but you can't take a vacation away from God.

Amen. Let me say this, when you're on vacation, you're still saved.

Amen. You don't strip down the nakedness when you're still saved,

no matter where you go, what you do.

But David stayed home.

And one day he walked out. If we look at chapter 12, Bible says that,

chapter 11, I mean, the Lord says David stayed home. At the evening time, he rose.

He was laying in a bed, and he got up and walked upon the roof of the king's

house, and from the roof he saw

a woman washing herself, and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.

He should have walked back in the house right away. I said he should have turned

around and walked back in. Amen.

And you can't help it, a bird flies over your head, but you don't have to make

a nest for him. He didn't have to stand there and keep looking.

Somebody said, amen. He could have turned around and walked back in.

And David sent and inquired after the woman. Well, who is that woman?

You see, he should have left that woman alone right off the bat.

He should not even, you see, the Bible says that we're tempted when we're drawn away of our own lust.

And when lust is conceived, it brings forth sin.

You know, our own desires. That's why we need to learn to curb our desires.

That's why we fast every once in a while. So we can curb our desires.

Because our human desires sometimes need to be curbed.

Maybe they do. And David should have curbed his desire.

And so to hurry up here, He sent and inquired, and they found out that it was Uriah's wife.

And she's the wife of Uriah the Hittite. And David sent messengers and took

her, and she came in unto him, and he lay with her.

And come to find out, she conceived a baby. They conceived a baby.

And she come and told David and said, well, I'm pregnant now, David.

So, David, you see, David is a human. and anything David did,

any human is capable of doing.

You see, we're all in this. The humans are all in the pot.

We're all humans and we're all in the pot together. And when the pot is boiling, it bubbles.

And we're reading today about one of the bubbles, you know, one of the more

extreme sins and things that humans do.

But the pot always bubbles. and any human in the pot is capable of doing anything.

You say, I'd never do that. Oh, yeah, you could, too. If you don't keep your

flesh under subjection, there ain't no telling what you could do.

Sin will take you further than you want to go. Somebody said,

make you pay more than you want to pay and make you stay longer than you want to stay.

Somebody say amen to that. And that's just the way it is. And so David,

he finds out that she's pregnant.

So then he sins for her husband. He thought, well, if he's out there fighting

and I'll send for him and I'll bring him home, then he'll go be with his wife.

And then she gets pregnant and everybody will think, you know, no big deal.

And so he goes and gets Uriah and sends for Uriah and brings him in.

How's the battle going? Everything's going lovely. Okay, you need to go.

Thanks for coming by and giving me the information. Now you go home and be with

your wife. And, you know, David was scheming.

Humans can scheme too. They can scheme too.

You know, the humanity is just flesh and we're all capable of sin.

If we haven't, you can't say we haven't sinned because the Bible says we make him a liar.

And sin is still, I want to tell you this, when you get the Holy Ghost and you

get baptized and you get all your sins forgiven and you get that new nature

of Christ grafted in, that sin is cut off at the root when you really repent.

And we'll get to that in a minute.

But when you repent, that tree's cut down. But I'm going to tell you what,

if you let that tree grow, he'll grow.

That old flesh will come back. That old flesh will grow right back.

If you let him, you got to keep him cut down, man.

Hey man, you got to keep it cut down. That's why you leave some things alone.

You don't watch some things. You don't mess with some stuff because whatever

you feed the most is going to grow the most.

You feed your flesh, it's going to grow. You feed your spirit.

There's therefore now no condemnation to them who walk after the spirit and not after the flesh.

Amen. Because in our flesh, there's no good thing. So Uriah is a good soldier.

And he says, I can't go home.

All my brethren are out in the field, sleeping in the tent.

I can't go home and enjoy my wife and have, you know, while my brother,

and he had a burden for the battle. You know, we need a burden for the battle.

In the days, you know, we're in a battle where this is 2025.

It's time for the church to be, it's time when kings go forth to battle.

It's time to live for God. It's not time to play around.

It's time to get in church and be in church and serve God and really be on fire

for God because now's the time. It's time now.

If there ever was a time for us to be on fire, it's today. If there ever was

a time for us to have a burden, it's today.

Today's a burden day, man. We got to get up under the burden and say,

God, there's a church to go forward. There's things that need to be done.

There's people that need to be saved. There's things to work for in the kingdom of God.

The fields are white unto harvest, and it's time for get busy.

It's time to think about God. It's time to think about being church.

It's time to think about what the church does and who God wants us to be.

It's time to really think about it, man. Man, it's time, it's time.

It's a time when kings go forth to battle.

Don't lay around, you see, because David stayed. He should have went out there where he belonged.

So David finds out that Uriah slept at the door and didn't go home.

So he calls him back in, feeds him real good, gets him about half drunk and sends him back home.

And Uriah, you know, he was a good soldier. He just wouldn't do it.

So he didn't go home again. David found out somewhere in the back of David's

mind, he didn't want anybody to know about this baby, that it was his.

You know, he must have realized that he had made a big mistake.

And if they found out that it was his baby, man, down goes the kingdom.

You know what I'm saying?

And he must have really so, because he's really scheming now.

He's really, you know, when you get, notice, notice, David, his mindset here.

He's thinking, he's thinking, he's trying to get out of this.

He's trying to get something done here. He's trying to scheme.

He's trying. I'm going to tell you something. You can't out scheme sin.

Sin is sin. Best way to deal with it is deal with it.

Best way to deal with it is deal with it. There's, you know,

you have to, you have to, sometimes you have to deal with your life.

You have to deal with what it is. And it is what it is.

And a man, a man, a man's man, a real man, a real person, a real,

that's really a man. Okay.

He should be in a position to say he would own up to anything he's ever done.

You know, a man owns up to his mistakes. A man owns up to it. Yep.

I did it. Shouldn't have done it, but I did it.

Because the best thing to do is keep everything out in front of you.

You know what I mean? Best thing to do is be open. Now, you don't tell everything

you've done. I'm not saying, you don't go around telling all.

What I'm saying is you don't want to have an attitude of scheming to try to hide from it.

Because scheming will get you in trouble. What happens is you just,

you know, you're just digging a deeper hole when you try to scheme out of something.

Amen. So David's just digging a deeper hole. So he tells Joab,

he sends a letter to, you know, this is, this is intriguing.

He sends a letter to Joab and he says, I want you to press towards the city

that you're trying to take.

And I want you to put Uriah right out there in front because he's a good soldier

and that guy will give it his all.

And then I want you to back up on him, kind of leave him out there,

leave him hanging, leave him out there to dry, hang him out there to dry.

And it happened just like David wanted it to. Joab went, took up, got close to the city.

And they usually didn't do that because they knew that somebody shoot an arrow

or something from the wall. And that's just exactly what happened. Uriah got killed.

So the word got back to David. You know, it's intriguing to think about David and Joab.

Joab didn't really, maybe he did know why. I want to tell you something.

People know things we don't know. We don't think they know, but people know, don't they?

Everybody say word gets around.

Word gets around because somebody

saw Bathsheba come into David's house they got

servants they got guards they got all kind of stuff so somebody

saw her come in David's house and word gets around and so Joab takes the letter

and does exactly what he's told he probably knows why so David then after she

mourns for her husband whatever the proper time was David takes her for a wife,

and he thinks everything's covered.

Everything worked out all right, except there is a God.

Except there is a God, and there is a prophet. There is a prophet.

Likes the prophets. Nobody wants to be a prophet because prophets end up in

the dungeon, somebody said.

But a prophet cares. A prophet will do what a prophet needs to do because he cares.

That's what we want is somebody in our leadership capacities,

whether it's a pastor, whether it's a district superintendent,

whether it's a presbyter,

whoever it is, whether it's a Sunday school teacher, whatever the job is or

whatever the administrative role is, the music person, you need people that

care about what they're doing.

Amen. And the prophet cares, and he cares so much that it causes him to—he has

so much zeal that he—whatever happens to him, he just says it's going to have to happen.

They say, man, you go in there and tell David, you know, I'm I'm thinking in

my mind here, if you go and tell David, man, he's going to kill you, man.

All he's got to do is say away with the prophet, and they take off the prophet's head.

You know, he was the king, but a prophet, he says, well, so be it.

So be it. And he tells a story, and he does it the best. This is beautiful how

the prophet brings this out to David.

And David is at home, and the Bible says, and the Lord sent Nathan unto David.

And he came in unto him, and he said unto him, and he said, David,

I need to tell you something.

He didn't go right in there accusing him of what he had done,

but he said, I need to tell you something, David.

And there was two men in the city. One of the men was, the other wasn't. The other was poor.

And the rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds. He had all kind of sheep,

and he had all kind of herds.

And the poor man had one little lamb That's all he had He had one little lamb

Fernando, would you get me some batteries? I'm about to run out of batteries Yeah.

He said he had one little lamb, and he bought and nourished that little lamb,

and it grew up together with him and with his children, and he fed it.

He handed it Doritos while he was sitting at the table.

He gave his little lamb. He fed him some Doritos, and it was his little lamb.

Now listen to this. And he said, but he said, and it did eat his own meat and drank of his own cup.

And his bosom was unto him as a daughter.

This little lamb was like family. It was their pet lamb.

It was their pet lamb. He let him lick his ice cream bowl when he was done.

He let him lick the ice cream bowl.

And but he said, there came a traveler unto the rich man.

Somebody preached a message one time. beware of the traveler.

And the Bible says that he said that the man came and he said there was a traveler

came unto the rich man and he appeared and he spared to take his own flock of

his own herd to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him,

the poor man's lamb and dressed it for the man that was come to him. It came by.

You know, we're human. And our flesh, there's a hungry traveler springed up

every now and then he's looking to be satisfied.

He's traveling through. So David killed that one little lamb to satisfy the traveler.

He told David that, David, that man had all kind of flocks.

He had all kind of herds, and he took that guy's lamb. That's all he had.

That's all he had was this one little lamb, and David was incensed.

Who is that man? He should die for that. That's a terrible thing to do to a man.

And the prophet looks at him and said, thou art the man.

That's you, David. You had all kind of women you could have chose from.

You got wives and concubines, putting it in my words, you got wives, concubines.

When that old desire sprang up and that old traveler came by,

you should, you could have pulled from any of those wives or any of those concubines.

But you know what you did? You pulled from Uriah's wife and,

and you satisfied that hungry traveler.

You satisfied that desire with a lamb that didn't belong to you.

And there came a traveler and, and David's anger was greatly,

and he shall restore the a lamb full or full. David, you know, he's mad.

And then Nathan said, David, thou art the man.

He said, the Lord said, I appointed you king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul.

And I gave thee thy master's house and thy master's wives under thy bosom,

and gave thee the house of Israel and Judah.

And if it had been a little, I would have done better for you,

David. If there was any more I could have done, I'd have done it for you.

He said, how come you despise the commandment of the Lord, David, to do evil in his sight.

And you have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword and have taken his wife

to be your wife and has slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.

Now, therefore, a sword will never depart from thine own house because thou

hast despised me and has taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.

Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine

own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes and give them unto thy

neighbor, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this son.

You did this secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel and before the son.

Now, flip over in your Bible to Psalms 51.

Psalms 51.

Now, see, the next verse says, David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord.

And Nathan said, the Lord hath put away your sin.

That sounds pretty simple. It doesn't sound like there's much to it.

But I want to show you something.

I want to look at something. Today, I was thinking about this.

This is the answer for everybody. Everybody.

Is the answer for everybody. Let's look at Psalms 51.

Notice the heading to the chief musician, a Psalm of David, when Nathan the

prophet came unto him after he had gone in to Bathsheba.

Here is the secret to sin and dealing with it.

I don't care who it is, what it is, the way you deal with sin is to really repent of it.

Repent. Really mean it.

You know, living for God is something you got to really mean.

Living for God is something that's really got to be serious.

And living for God and getting rid of the problem, doesn't matter what your

sin is. God's got a solution for it.

Doesn't matter what your mistake is. God's got a solution for.

David really sinned, and it bothers me because this great man,

and everybody lifts David up and lifts David up.

Yeah, they do, but you know why they do? Because we understand that David repented.

He really did realize and repent of his sin before God. He wished he had never done it.

Here have mercy upon me oh god have

mercy on me oh god i've made a mistake i've done something crazy lord i've made

i've done you've got to have and then david cried out to the lord believe me

have mercy on me oh lord have mercy you know you got to ask god to have mercy

it ain't no play thing with God.

Let me read through here because this is the solution for every sin,

every time you ever make a mistake, big mistake, little mistake.

The way to deal with it is ask God to forgive you for it and really mean it.

I said really mean it.

99 and a half won't do.

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness, according unto the

multitude of thy tender mercies.

Blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.

For I acknowledge my transgression and my sin is ever before me.

God, oh, you've got to forgive me, Lord.

It's before I can't get over it all. I know I made a mistake, God.

Forgive me. You got mercy, you got kindness, and I'm asking you, God, to help me with it.

Forgive me, oh, Lord, because it's ever before me. It really bothers me.

You know, sin ought to bother us.

Bothers. If you tell a lie and you know you did, it ought to bother you until

you say, you know, I need to talk to you. I need to make something right.

And it ought to bother you. And it bothered David, you see.

And that's why, wash me thoroughly from mine and it cleansed me,

for I acknowledge my transgression. My sin is there before.

Against thee and thee only have I sinned, Lord, and done this evil in thy sight

that thou might be justified when you speak. God, I know I was wrong.

Your law is true, and I did this thing, and I did evil in your sight,

and when it's all said and done, I sinned against you, God.

Behold, I'm a sinner. I was shapen in iniquity, and sin did my mother conceive me.

Behold, you want, here it is, thou desireth truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part.

Thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean. Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

That's the secret, folks. If you ever make a mistake, don't be like Judas and run off.

I don't care what the mistake is. Giants can fall.

That's the title of our lesson, and anybody is susceptible to fall,

and if we do, we need to say, God, have mercy on me, God. I acknowledge what I've done.

I'm going to tell you, that's the way you put it behind you.

If it's not behind you, you need to really repent of it and say,

God, I'm sorry for it. Let me get it out of my mind, God. I can't.

The reason things still bother you maybe is because you still haven't really

thought about how bad it was and ask God to help you and wash and cleanse you of it, praise the Lord.

God, forgive me. How silly, how dumb, how stupid.

And then he says, make me to hear joy and gladness that the bones which thou.

Hast broken may rejoice.

Hide thy face from my sins.

Out all my iniquities. And here's the most famous verse, create in me a clean heart, O God.

Renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence and take

not thy Holy Spirit from me.

Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation and uphold me with thy free spirit.

In other words, I looked that up. I thought, what does that mean?

And it means a free spirit.

Withhold me is help me have a willing spirit, God. Let my spirit be free.

Let my spirit be willing to follow you, God. Let me do it because I want to.

Give me the joy that I need. Don't withdraw from me, God. Stay with me,

God. I need you to be with me.

Cleanse my heart. Create in me a clean heart. Renew a right spirit in me,

oh God. Help me, Lord. Help me, Lord.

Help me, Lord. You know why David's known as a great man? David really repented of his sin.

He didn't play around with God. He realized He really messed up,

and he called on the Lord, and he asked the Lord to help him,

cleanse him, oh, God. I've done wrong, Lord.

He dealt with it the way God wanted him to deal with it and the way God wants man to deal with it.

You see, the Bible, that's when the Bible, we read it and say it, repent all the time.

Well, I want to tell you something. If you don't really repent of sin,

you ain't going to make it.

If everybody don't come to a place of repentance, I'm going to tell you repentance

is just as important as water baptism repentance is just as important as the

holy ghost in filling it takes.

Music.

Great God, you know, uphold me with thy free spirit. Give me a willing.

You know, when I went to church 40 something years ago and I knew I'd been doing

drugs and what I've been doing, I hadn't been to church since probably I was

maybe 16, 17 years old. And I was now 24 years old.

And I went into that morning service on Easter and that pastor preached, repent, repent.

And he got his handkerchief out. You've heard me tell it. You know,

I didn't throw it off. I didn't think somebody else needed to hear that.

You know what I thought in my heart? I thought, I know I need to repent.

I know what I've been doing.

I acknowledge what I am. I know what I am. And that's what God's looking for,

just somebody to really mean business.

Let me read the rest of this because this points this out.

Cast me not away from thy presence. Take not thy Holy Spirit.

Restore me joy. And I will teach. Lord, if you help me, I'll teach everybody

everywhere, transgressors and sinners shall be converted.

Lord, I'll teach people not to do the crazy things I've done.

I'll tell them, Lord, I'll tell them sin is a dead end road. I'll tell them.

And deliver me from the blood guiltlessness, O God, thou God of my salvation.

My tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

Lord, Lord, open my lips and my mouth shall show forth thy praise.

I'll praise you. And thou, now see, here it is. Here it is. Verse 16.

David understood, for thou desirest not sacrifice, else I'd give it.

Lord, I could take a lamb in right now and offer for my sin,

and I could take a bullock over there, but I understand, God,

what you're looking for is somebody to do it from their heart,

somebody to do it. He says, I give it.

Thou delightest not in burnt offering the sacrifices of God.

Listen now, the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite

heart, O God, thou will not despise.

What God's looking for. He's not looking for us to just come in and clap our

hands and sing and act like nothing's going on.

What God's looking for is somebody that's got a contrite heart.

Jesus said, two men were in the temple one day. One man was over here talking about, I'm a Pharisee.

Lord, I thank you that I'm not like that other man. I thank you. I'm so great.

I'm offering up praise to you, God. And I'm telling you how I'm glad I'm a Pharisee

and I'm glad you've blessed of my life, but I'm glad I'm not like that other guy.

Oh, yeah, he was praying. He was offering up, but the other man,

you know what the other man was doing?

God, have mercy on me, a sinner, God.

I need you to have mercy on me, God. That's all I need, God.

Have mercy. Jesus said, which one of those men went out of there justified?

The man that was calling on God out of a contrite heart, a man that really realized he needed God.

That Pharisee should have had the same attitude. I want

to tell you saints we can live for god 40 50 years and

we still need to come into the house of god and raise our

hands and say god i need you lord wash me

lord cleanse me keep me oh god help me make it oh god i want to make it lord

i want you to help me i still need you that's what he's looking for he's not

looking for big choirs singing good songs he's not looking for a talented musician

he's not look, all that's good and you got to have it.

And it's all part of what God we have in the church.

But I want to tell you, God's looking for somebody that's got a broken spirit,

a broken and a contrite heart, and God will not despise it.

And then David, the last couple of verses are interesting.

They say, some say they were added later because of a, they say,

do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion, build thou the walls of Jerusalem,

and thou shalt be pleased with sacrifices of righteousness, and burnt offerings,

and whole burnt offerings, and shalt offer bullocks upon an altar.

And David, but what I think is, David realized, Lord, what I did affected Jerusalem.

You know, anytime a leader falls, it affects people.

And David realized, oh, Lord, keep the city, help them finish,

deal the walls, help them, God, do whatever they need, because what I've done

has affected not just me, but it's affected Jerusalem.

And David realized it. You know why David's a great man? You know why you hear about David so much?

You know why? Because David, the Bible says, was a man after God's own heart,

and after he really done this terrible deed, and he didn't do anything more

than a lot of other men have done, and he just said, oh, and he,

but the thing that separated David from Saul?

Was David cried out to God with a contrite heart, with a heart that really meant

business and asked God to forgive him?

You know, Saul had jailhouse religion.

Jailhouse religion is? That's guys that go get put in jail and get prison.

All of a sudden, they find religion, and they find it until they get out.

And then after they get out, they lose their religion.

God don't want jailhouse religion. God don't want somebody just calling on him

because they need something.

God don't want somebody just coming to church because they're in a jam.

God wants somebody that comes with a pure, clean desire to be saved and really

want to get right with God and say, God, forgive me. And I need,

I need to be right with you, God.

Saul, you see Saul transgressing and Samuel came and said, that's it,

buddy. God's going to cut you off.

You, you, you disobey, you're done. You're the kingdom's being taken from you, Samuel.

And Samuel, he did a little jailhouse religion. Oh, I'm so sorry,

Samuel, offer a sacrifice for me.

Please let the people see you offer. I got to let the people see.

Oh, I don't want to lose the kingdom and please offer me a sacrifice.

And Samuel did. But that wasn't what God was looking for.

He wasn't looking for nobody to have a jailhouse religion.

He was, you know, Saul, you see, Saul could have done the same thing David did.

Saul could have fell on his face and cried out to God and say,

oh, God, I made a mistake.

But it wasn't in Saul. Saul liked the kingdom.

Saul was worried about being king and staying the king. That's what he was worried

about. He wasn't worried about it.

But David, oh, yeah, David killed the giant.

David, you know, the psalmist, the Lord is my shepherd and all. Oh, yeah.

You know why he wasn't destroyed? You know why his reputation wasn't destroyed?

You know why he was kept and why he was allowed to remain king?

Because he really meant business with God.

He wasn't playing around. And he realized that he totally made a mistake and did terrible things.

That is the solution to every man's sin.

And now the Lord told David, sword's not going to depart out of your house.

You're going to have some trouble now, David.

And he did. He had a son that raped one of his daughters.

He had a son that tried to take the kingdom from him. And he did.

Concubines and slept with them up on the roof for everybody to see, just like God said.

You know, sin, when you make them do certain things, it has an effect in your life.

It's going to cause things to happen. It ain't God's fault.

Things are going to be like they are because of our sin sometimes.

But we have to, the idea is to be right with God, no matter what.

And David, you know, they were throwing stones at David and David,

when he was leaving and they were talking bad to him, cursing him as he was

fleeing Jerusalem when his son tried to take the kingdom.

And they were telling him, we ought to kill that guy, David.

He's putting you down. David said, let him talk. Maybe I deserve it.

But David really repented. Yeah, giants fall. We're all sinners.

The book of Romans concludes the conviction of all humanity from the pen.

There's none righteous. No, not one.

Our righteousness is like filthy rags. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

Our goodness will never be enough to answer the holy call of heaven,

but we can ask God for forgiveness and really mean it. And here's the beautiful thing.

If you really mean it, you'll get it.

Isn't that good? Isn't that good? If any man, woman, boy, or girl really means it, God will forgive.

Aren't you glad God will forgive?

Oh, I didn't realize what time it is as music cups.

Sinners, we can all be forgiven through the gospel. You see, that's what God offers.

Repent, be baptized, get full of the Holy Ghost. God forgives you, gives you the power.

And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous.

He is the propitiation for our sins and not ours only, but also the sins of the whole world.

The blood Jesus shed on Calvary is enough to remove every stain of sin in our lives.

So whether we've never repented, been baptized, got the Holy Ghost, we need to.

And if we have and we've made mistakes, the thing to do is keep an open heart before God.

Say, God, I shouldn't have said that. I shouldn't have done that, God.

God, forgive me. Help me. And I'm so glad His mercies are renewed every morning. Amen.

Mercy. Let's raise our hands right now. Lord, help us today.

Every one of us, oh God, we've come short. We've missed a mark,

oh God. Help us mean business with you.

Help us mean business with you, oh God.

Because we know if we really mean business and we've made mistakes,

God, you will forgive us.

Anybody can fall. It doesn't matter who you are, what your name is,

what your pedigree is. Everybody can sin. Anybody can make a mistake.

But oh God, forgive us.

Cleanse us, oh God, is our prayer. And help us do it willingly.

Let it be in our heart to do it because we know we need to do it.
