You know, sometimes you gotta compliment people, right? You gotta compliment people.

Like I, I was walking around, saw some of the man cave dressed up in their suits and everything.

All right.

I see you man.

I see you.

Looking good.

Well, hey, welcome to City Place Church.

My name is Damon and, uh, as Sean said, my wife Tisha, we are the senior pastor of City Place Church.

And it's an honor to have you on Palm Sunday.

Uh, I'm, I don't want to, uh, do a lot of pleasantries.

I feel like just jumping right in.

Yeah.

Is that okay if we jump right in the scripture? Yep.

Uh, 'cause we, we started something last week and, um, we didn't, uh, finish.

I, I, if you've been here over the last five to six weeks, I told you we would talk about courageous and we wouldn't finish all your blanks.

Uh, on your message notes, there are some message notes on your seat to follow along.

We love going through God's word and I pray that what we go over on Sundays doesn't just stay here on Sundays.

I pray that, uh, as a church, uh, and a growing body of believers, that we lean into God's word and study the scriptures.

We, we want to grow deeper in who we are becoming in Christ.

We, we never arrive, we, we've never, we never hit the ceiling of our growth in Christ Jesus.

And so what we like to do is we like to hand out message notes to follow along and, uh, then allow all of us to continue to study throughout the week.

Um, at the end of our service today, um, we're gonna have a Easter volunteer meeting where we can, uh, tell you everything that's going on, um, here at City Place.

It'll, it'll be between 20 to 30 minutes long because we wanna kind of give you the vision of the weekend, maybe show you a couple of places as well.

We've never held Easter here.

This is our first Easter at this location.

And if Jesus keeps moving fast, we, it'll be shortened the amount of time that we'll be here as we move closer to our own, uh, location.

Um, and so, uh, here, here's the thing is that everyone in this room is, is going to be needed for Easter.

We, we don't know if it'll just be us.

What we do like to be is we like to be prepared and, and to care for people.

Well, and all of us have a place on Easter and so we would love to share that with you.

Um, as I said, this is our first Easter here, so grace is needed because, uh, as we plan there are curve balls that come because we're outta school.

And so we had one plan and then they said, good, good thought.

Um, but you're gonna need to change that.

And so we want you to be made aware of some of the things that's gonna be, uh, if you do say yes, we've got childcare for your, for your kids, uh, from the time you come on property to volunteer.

We've got a dream team lounge for you that'll have snacks, breakfast, refreshments for the whole day.

Uh, we've tried to think through everything possible.

We've got parking for you, so you'll get a parking pass when you come on the property.

Uh, you'll actually leave with that today.

So we've tried to think through everything that we could to make your serving experience excellent for you.

The same way when you walk in on Sunday morning.

And so at the end of our service you'll hear more about that and, uh, we'll see what the Lord is up to this morning.

If you're ready, say let's go.

We don't take it for granted.

Uh, we, we view every single Sunday that we get to spend with you as truly the grace of God that he would allow us to gather together.

And so, uh, I, I'm a passionate personality type.

Um, I just love scripture.

I think about all that God has done for me.

And I, um, I, I used to get in trouble.

I was talking to some of the, the kids team earlier.

I used to get in trouble for my mouth.

Um, if you hung out with me, you know that I, I can, I can joke around and, and I used to get in trouble.

And so, uh, I grew up in church.

I got expelled from a Christian school.

Y'all.

Why is that funny? No, I got expelled in ninth grade.

Mr.

Beckler.

I remember to this day, the principal, uh, he told me, and this is how he expelled me, he goes, Damon, you are no longer welcomed at Riverdale Baptist School.

I literally did this.

I was like, whatever.

Little did I know that my mom was sitting in the back of the room.

That'll teach you, won't it? To this day, I still have a limp when I walk.

So if you're like, man, he got like a gangsta lean.

No, no, no.

It's the whole side that was numb for 20 years.

Holy side.

I don't even know where I was going with that story.

That happens every time.

I really don't.

But what I was gonna say was something about the grace of God and blah, blah, blah.

Joshua, chapter one.

Let's just honestly like, I'm at that age now where thoughts are there at the beginning and the next thing you know, you're like, rabbit, what? I want ice cream.

What? I was telling the story.

Why am I thinking about ice cream? Joshua Chapter one, I forget what I was gonna say.

It'll probably come up in the middle of a point and I'll just pop it back in there.

So just, just, just be ready.

I don't even know what I was gonna say.

Anybody know what I was gonna say? Anybody here from the Holy Spirit just stand up and yelling out like my old church? Yay.

The Lord would stay in the you man.

Shut thy mouth and preach, right? Joshua chapter one, Joshua chapter one, verse nine.

And I want us to read this together on the count of three because this is our verse for the year.

Because God spoke to our church that we were gonna move from cautious to courageous.

And we, we, we've been, we've been staying in Joshua chapter one as we think about the impact that God has for us.

And so on the count of three, I just want us to read this first verse together.

Ready? 1, 2, 3.

Have I? Now, here's the challenge.

That's for all of us.

God has commanded you and I to be strong and courageous.

It's not a question God has put courage on the inside of us that he wants to unlock in us.

And so as we go throughout this year, you're going to hear us constantly challenging each other, that we're not gonna stand on the sidelines.

We're not gonna wonder if God will, but we're gonna actually pursue what God has us, uh, to pursue.

We're not gonna sit on the sideline this year.

We're gonna go after it.

And so I want our heart to be constantly thinking about the fact that we are strong and we will be courageous and we don't have to fear even though the enemy would try to cause us to be fearful because the Lord God is with us wherever we go.

Y'all ready to journey? So I'm gonna keep going because Joshua chapter nine, uh, Joshua one, verse nine was just the beginning.

So let's go to verse 10.

Then.

Joshua commanded the officers of the people saying, pass through the camp and command the people saying, prepare provisions for yourself.

Somebody say for yourself, for yourself, for within three days, you will cross over this Jordan to go in and possess the land, which the Lord your God is giving you to possess.

Verse 12.

And to the reubenites, the gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh, Joshua spoke saying, remember the word, which the Lord Moses, which the word which Moses the Lord, uh, the servant of the Lord commanded you, saying the Lord your God is giving you rest and is giving you this land.

You, your wives, your little ones, and your livestock shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side of the Jordan.

But you will pass before your brethren armed all your mighty men of valor and help them, somebody say for somebody else.

So you have yourselves and then you have for somebody else until the Lord verse 15 has given them rest as he gave you, and they also have taken possession of the land, which the Lord your God is giving them.

Then you shall return to the land of your possession and enjoy it, which Moses the Lord serving, gave you on this side of the Jordan towards the sunrise.

So they answered Joshua saying, all that you command us, we will do.

And wherever you send us, we will go just as we heeded Moses in all things.

So we will heed you.

Only the Lord your God, be with you as he is, as he was with Moses last week, we talked about the fact that God is calling us to impact the one.

In fact, God has given us two courageous assignments for this year, is that we're gonna impact the one, the 1% and the five zip codes around where we currently gather.

There's 162,000 people where God has called city place to where, just play our part to impact the one.

Can we see 1% saved, baptized, filled with God's spirit, growing in discipleship, planted in God's house? Can we impact the one? The second thing is, is that city place is getting armed and ready to acquire a permanent home.

For God in this city and for us to gather to be a pillar in the community, seven day a week location to where we minister to our community and business and local leaders can come and athletics can take place on the place where God calls us.

But it's the impact of the one that we've been focused on since last week because in Joshua chapter one, when you start at the beginning, God tells Joshua that, Hey, it's time now to go and possess what I promised you that's been held up for decades.

Now it's time to go.

And he tells the people, Hey, listen.

In three days we're going over.

So get ready.

Like when God says it's time to go, that's not the time for you and I to strategize.

When God says It's time to go, it's time for us to gather our stuff and get ready to move.

And so God tells Joshua, tell the people that it's time to go.

So Joshua in haste right after this conversation with God says, it's go time.

The people are like, okay, they start planning.

And then in the verse we read, starting in verse 10 and 11 and 12, he immediately speaks to a group of people, the Reubenites and the Gadites, and he tells them, Hey, listen, God spoke to you at about your assignment and your promise on the other side of the Jordan, that your community of people, your family of people, we're gonna grab hold of all that God has for them.

But you will also make sure that your brother grab hold of what it has, what God has for them as well in God's purpose for our life.

God is gonna speak clear to you.

You and I are gonna be excited about what God speaks to us.

And then that purpose and destiny will be tied to impacting somebody else as well.

Did y'all catch that? So God's gonna put something in you.

You and I are gonna get excited about it.

We're gonna pray about it.

We're gonna be ready to pursue it, and then God's gonna be like, Hey, now listen.

The purpose that I put in you is so that you can impact others as well.

And so you and I have to position ourselves to know that when God starts speaking to us, that it has watch now an eternal impact.

The purpose that God gives us, we have to grab hold of.

It's ours, but we have to hold it with an open hand knowing God.

How will you use this to impact somebody else? Anytime God begins to birth something on the inside of you, we said this way back in week number one, when we have clarity of pursuit as we pursue God, he makes it clearer and clearer along the journey.

So God will give us vision, and the more clarity we get is based on the level of pursuit that we give him as we're trying to grow closer and closer to him.

We said that it's in the process that God begins to make clear.

What he is doing in us, and therefore, you and I should not diminish the value of God's process in our life.

I don't like the process.

If I enjoyed the process, I would spend more time in the gym.

Everything you see is natural.

Can you imagine what would happen if I lifted intentionally? Like the pain of lifting the weight causes me to go.

I've had enough.

Have you ever had the pain? And you've said, I've had enough.

Somebody like more, like sometimes we turn away from the process, even though the process benefits us, and God takes us through a process to build us, not to destroy us or to take us out.

In the process of time, God keeps calling us closer and closer and he tells Joshua, Hey, listen, there's purpose for you, but there's also impact for others.

Mm-hmm.

And if you and I can embrace the fact that God has purpose for you, but that God also wants to use you to impact somebody else, guess what? We will constantly live in a state of God, I'm coming closer to you because I'm not sure what you might be saying in the season of life that I may be in.

'cause there are times in our life where we get stuck, we get comfortable.

And could be is because our pursuit of him has turned into a cruise control moment.

So God begins to speak to the people.

He says, Hey, listen, tell them Joshua, tell the Roman Ice that you've already heard this spoken to you on the other side of the Jordan.

Now since you crossed the Jordan, don't just kick your feet up.

Turn on Netflix, sit back and go, I'm good.

Come on.

No, we wanna keep moving until everybody's eternity is impacted.

That's right.

Listen.

Every single year that city place has been in existence, God has graced our church to see hundreds of people walk in a relationship with Jesus.

Early on, I used to clap high five, try to do cartwheels over that number until I realized the gap between those that were saved and baptized.

That doesn't sit well with me to have 900, but then have about 148 baptized.

You see the gap? Yeah.

Like Jesus said, go, you therefore preach the gospel and then baptize them in the name like so.

There's something stern on the inside of me now where I'm going, God, we see the salvations, but can we see the baptisms as well? God, we see the baptism, but can people be filled with the spirit of God? God, we see people filled with the spirit of God, but can they be planted in your house? God, can they? Can they be planted in your house? Can they serve in your house? God? Can they serve in your house? Impact their community? Can they impact their community and their family? Can they impact their family and their community? Can they impact the community and the world? Can we impact the state? Can we shift culture? We can't sit still, so God says, Hey, you will get yours, but help your brothers.

And then he says, Hey, listen.

Grab your armed warriors.

I said this last week that God has already armed you and I.

Ephesians chapter six, I encourage you to read it when you go home because it says that you and I can be able to withstand the enemy's attacks by putting on the full armor of God.

It's not natural, it's spiritual, which means that we have to actually spend time spiritually with the Father so that every bit of our armor stays tight, your feet prepared with the gospel.

Belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith, sword of the spirit, helmet of salvation, and praying always in the spirit.

All of those pieces of armor need to remain tight and in working order, but sometimes my feet lead me in the wrong direction.

Could it be because my feet haven't been shifted with the gospel? Is my breastplate of righteousness? Tighten right shield of faith? Anybody's faith ever go up and down? Believe one minute doubt.

The next, could it be that I put my shield to the side? Joshua's like, Hey, get all the fighting men because you're prepared.

Go ahead of them and make sure they get rest and possess their promise the same way God has for you.

Yeah.

Every single person in this room, you are equipped.

No matter what stage of walk of life you're in, no matter what stage of your relationship with God, everyone in this room can point someone else to Christ.

Jesus may not be able to preach a whole message, may not know Greek and Hebrew, but all of us has a testimony of what he's done.

All of you can make an impact in God's house.

I I, I heard this quote one time.

It said this, everyone is anointed to move a chair right now.

All of us can play a part and lemme give you some takeaways from last week that I want you to write down this week just to catch us up so that we can have our moment at the end of service here.

Here's what we said last week, that when we read Joshua chapter one, nine through 18, we hear God speak a promise to the people of, of, of Israel.

And Joshua very clear.

He says, Hey, for you and yourself.

So there's this promise to the people.

You're not gonna find this up here on the, on the, on the slide.

So if you're looking, gotcha.

So, so there's this promise for you.

And then Joshua tells the people, the Reubenites and the Gadites, he says, now listen, there's also a promise for others.

Like every person in this room has a promise from God.

It's not just me.

It's not just mine.

Everybody has a promise from God.

And part of the vision of City Place Church is we build dreams.

Yeah, that's very outward focused.

We ignite faith, very outward focus.

We establish leaders, which means it is not about Ty and I, we got room for you, and we win the loss for the Kingdom of God.

Every part of the vision of City Place Church is thinking about what God can do for you.

But guess what? If we only preach about you, we'd be selfish.

So here the thing is, we wanna stir you to be able to go and speak to somebody else.

So there's a promise spoken in Joshua chapter one for you.

And then there's a promise spoken in Joshua chapter one, which involves you making sure that the person beside you right now can grab hold of what God has for them.

And, and it is this.

It says this.

He says, now listen, I want you to work until they get rest, which means we don't know when God will show to tap you and I to say you've done enough.

It is when they get rest and God still promises you'll get rest and possess yours as well.

Come on.

So you and I, we want to get ready to fight for what God has for them.

We said this, write this in your notes.

It should be there.

We said, courageous vision and action for others is not an option.

It's a command.

God calls us to impact others.

It is not a command.

We're called to impact others.

In verse 13, he says, don't you remember what Moses already commanded you on the other side of the Jordan? You're fully aware that God's called you to impact others.

For some of you, maybe that's you're hearing it for the very first time.

So let me just share with you that God has put in you an untapped passion to see others become who God's called them to be.

All of us.

This should be in your notes.

All God needs to hear and see from all of us is our yes for others with action.

For others, all God needs to see.

All God needs to hear is our yes.

We said this.

We said that God's heart is for lost people to be found.

How many of y'all heard this before? Yes.

Lost people to be found.

Found people to be free.

Free people to be equipped and equipped.

People to be mobilized.

That's God's heart, is that we don't just receive Christ.

And then you get that ticket to heaven.

No, it's that we now become free from the thing that held us from him.

And once we are free, we should be growing so that we can be equipped for the long haul so that we walking in transformation and sanctification.

So we're definitely not looking the same way we were before we met Christ.

Some of us may still have the same stinking attitude we had before we met Christ.

Y'all are looking at me funny sometimes.

We say, well, that's just me.

Well, Jesus needs to change that and we need to let him.

That's just, that's just how I was raised.

But then Jesus needs to change that and we need to let him like, because he wants to change us.

And so he wants us to be equipped.

And the way we are equipped is that we grow in who he is and then he mobilizes us for good work.

Second Timothy chapter, I mean first Timothy chapter two.

Says this in verse one.

It says, therefore, I exhort, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

Pauls right there.

Sometimes we can get so mad at our government officials that we forget scripture to pray for them.

We ask for people to be removed.

And God's like, can you just pray that they walk in godliness? Can we just pray that God would show up and encounter them? Can we just pray that their families would know Christ too? Can we just pray that they would walk in uprightness and that they would be surrounded by people who would speak like to them? Like we play a, like, I know we have to vote, but we need to pray.

That's right.

Y'all all right? Like we play a part in shifting the atmosphere of our nation, but sometimes all we do is point and we yell and we post and we just say, just get out to vote.

Yes, do that, but.

Pray.

See, we play a, we hold, we play a whole part.

Why? Because if we lock in to our spiritual armor, we realize I'm qualified to shift where God places me.

That's, let's keep going for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our savior.

Watch.

Now, who desires all? Somebody say all, all, all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of truth for there's one God, somebody say one.

One.

There's not many.

Come on.

There's only one.

So we don't need to be in a debate and we don't need, we don't need to compromise that, that, that, that.

It seems like the universe.

No, there's only one God.

The universe ain't doing nothing.

I don't know why I'm a little like fiery this morning.

It might be the lapel Mike.

Dog.

Walk the dog.

Oh God.

So if you haven't been here, we have a security team that's about to drag people out.

No.

Listen, listen, listen.

Look.

There's one.

If we will allow God to use us to impact others, we won't compromise on truth.

God meets us in our comfort, and sometimes we're so comfortable with what the world tells us is fact that we then begin to shrink back.

And when it is time to impact others, we find it hard.

Paul makes it clear there is one guy, one mediator between watch now God and men, and he makes it clear the man, Christ Jesus, who gave himself a ransom for all to be testified in due time.

Every single person God wants to see in relationship with him.

Nobody is disqualified from the love of Jesus Christ and the price that Jesus paid and the Palm Sunday that we celebrate today and the Good Friday that we're all invited to pray and prep for.

And next Sunday.

The Easter weekend, it doesn't matter what their current belief system is.

Jesus is gunning and coming for them.

And you and I play a part in making sure that they encounter him.

We want our government changed.

City officials atmosphere changed.

What if we pray that all men, here's the struggle sometimes 'cause we all struggle with it.

Do we have the faith to believe that God can do it through the prayer of one? So write this down.

You and I are called to be courageous for others.

You called to be courageous for others and God speaks to Joshua.

Go tell them.

Go tell them that I have the promise for them.

They will get their rest and they'll possess wives, kids, they can rest, but the armed ones will go into their brother's fine rest and possess, and then he says this, and just so you know, you will return back and grab, hold and enjoy it.

I don't know if you've ever been like me.

Sometimes you feel like you sacrifice so much and will you ever have a moment to enjoy what you've labored for anybody where you feel like you just work, work, work and then you, it's hard to get to the labor part.

Like God is like if you care for other people, just so you know you will return back and enjoy what I have for you.

The disciples said that to Jesus.

Jesus, we've given up houses and we missing time with family, and is all of this going to be worth it? Jesus looks and says, Hey, everything that you've given up for me.

I will give back to you now a hundred times greater.

You're not missing any moment because you're impacting somebody else.

I'm caring for your family the same way you're caring for somebody else's love God so much.

So we're called to be courageous for others.

Write this.

God meets us in our, in our comfort.

That's normally where He meets us.

He meets us in our comfort.

And then I walked us through this, this chart the other day, and you still find some blanks on your notes.

God meets us in our comfort.

And then our first step is normally a cautious step.

It's normally a cautious step.

I, okay, I'll try it.

Some of you took a cautious step to come to city Place this morning.

Or maybe you took a cautious step to come six months ago.

Maybe you took a cautious step to take check out.

Next steps class, A cautious step to begin to serve on a team.

And that bridge that takes us from step to step is our connection to Jesus.

It's our connection to Jesus.

John chapter 15, abide in me and I in you.

John 15 · chapter mention

You'll bear much fruit.

Without me, you can't do anything.

So we constantly going back to the connection point.

I take a step.

I go connect to him.

I move from being cautious to consistent.

You know what? I go right back to my connection with him.

I'm being consistent now.

I'm not gonna be moved no more.

I'm connected to him.

I'm committed.

I'm not coming outta my relationship with you, Lord Jesus.

Some of you are still stand standing and you've had traumatic moments in your life and you keep saying that it was the grace of God.

If it had not been for him, you would've thrown it all in.

It's the permanent connection of no matter what wind come, no matter what blows Jesus, you have me forever.

And all of that is a, is a step by step process, which then once we say we're committed, we go back to our connection and that causes us to be courageous.

There gonna be three relationships that are gonna be vital.

Three connections.

One, your, your, your, your connection to Christ is gonna matter most connection to God's people and a connection to God's house.

We all need those three connections.

We all need those three connections, which then leads me to think about, well, as we enter into this Easter season, Palm Sunday.

Last Sunday, we, we went into the New Testament and we talked about impacting the one.

And we found in Matthew chapter nine that Jesus actually begins to speak on the fact that he can't get to every single person, and he starts to cast vision of impact for others by calling others to impact others.

Let's go to Matthew chapter nine.

Matthew chapter nine.

Y'all doing okay? All right.

Yeah.

Y'all doing okay? All right.

Yeah.

I'm still taking some English classes.

English two comes up next semester.

Matthew chapter nine, verse 35 says this.

Then Jesus went through all the towns and villages teaching in the synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were harassed and helpless like sheep without a shepherd.

Then he said to his disciples, watch now the harvest is plentiful, but the willing ones, the workers are few.

Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.

Verse uh, now go to chapter 10 verse one.

It says, then Jesus called 12 disciples to, to him and gave them authority to drive out in pure spirits and to heal every disease and every sickness.

Y'all, we said this.

Write this down and it should be in your notes.

Jesus is doing every miracle he possibly can.

Preaching every service he possibly can, and then his heart is broken because he realizes that he cannot hold every service, do every single miracle conference, have every bit of revival nights in every town, and get to everybody all by himself.

It broke his heart that there were people that were still broken after he administered to thousands and multitudes.

His heart was not.

This is good enough.

He could have been like, I got a thousand over here, 4,000 at this meal, 5,000 at this meal.

Father, we've done all we could.

Three years is almost here.

I'm ready when you are.

He was like, this is not good enough.

Until everyone hears the gospel, my heart is still breaking.

Can you imagine blind eyes open? People are going, we were ready to grab hold of the Kingdom of heaven.

Miracles, signs and wonders.

The disciples are like Jesus, can you believe it? Bed people coming out of the bed, like, can you imagine blind eyes being open? And Jesus going, great service, but fellas, it's not enough.

And they're like, oh my goodness, we just saw 4,000, 5,000 Fed.

And Jesus is like, great service, but we can be in here on a Sunday morning and be like, great service.

And the father's like great service.

But like we cannot get comfortable when the one has not heard yet.

I feel like, no lie, I feel like if this was old school church, I would be like cry crawling over.

That's how my inside is like stirring on me.

Because if we can as a church, get the burden for the one, we can see what they saw.

And Jesus is like, my heart is broken because even though it's happening in front of my eyes and your eyes, there's still more.

And he looks at his disciples and says, you know what? I won't be able to do it by myself.

It's your turn now.

Okay fellas, here's the plan.

Now it'll start with you.

You pray for him.

I possess heaven's authority now You do too.

You pray for him.

Preach it boldly when you, when you continue through.

Matthew chapter 10.

He says this freely.

You have received it.

Freely.

Give it away.

Joshua chapter one, Hey, you've got your vest.

You've got your possess your possessions.

Now guess what? Since you got yours, give it to somebody else.

So let's, let's, let's get some takeaways, because we said this last week, we said The burden for people is made clear through spiritual lenses.

The reason why we can love people the way we love them is because we need to have the heart of God.

Because when I, when I grew up, I could cut you off very quickly if you said something or did something wrong to me.

Anybody else got that personality type.

We're like, try me one time gone.

You don't get a second chance.

Anybody else? Yep.

You're like, Hey, say that one more.

I'm gone.

By the time you even get out your mouth.

Don't try me.

You ever say that? Like, but, but, but, but hey, can I just say this? Can I say that we will not be able to keep that posture spiritually to impact the one, pray that those in authority and those around you would walk in godliness.

Hello? Like the spiritual side is where I can do my warfare and let God handle his part.

And so we need the burden for what the father sees.

Jesus is like, oh fellas, my heart is broken.

Can you see it? And he gives him a picture.

They're like sheep without a shepherd.

He gives him a picture.

This is what I see and it's hurting my heart and the father's heart that they don't have what you got.

You got me every single day.

You're growing, you're learning, you're seeing what capabilities can they experience, what you got.

Give it to them the same way I'm giving it to you.

So y'all, we get so much of Jesus.

If you're a Christ follower from so many different angles that our friends do not, they're not pulling up YouTube clips, turning on the worship music, but man, if you and I would be willing to share what Jesus has done, it could be an open door.

Y'all good? Yeah.

So here's some takeaways.

Let's write these down real fast.

Takeaway number one, Jesus saw the people through spiritual eyes and it broke.

His heart saw through spiritualized and it broke his heart.

He, he literally uses this phrase, sheep without a shepherd.

I've never been a sheep.

Anybody else? It could be a hard thing in to grasp, but David talks about what it looks like to be led by a good shepherd.

In Psalms 23, he says this, the Lord is my shepherd.

I shall lack nothing.

He makes me lie down in green pastures.

He leads me beside quiet waters.

He refreshes my soul.

He guides me along, right pastor for his namesake.

Even though I walk through the valley that's dark, I will fear no evil for you are with me, your rod and your staff.

They comfort me like he's like, even if you need to correct me, I feel comfort.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemy.

You anoint my head with oil.

My cup overflows.

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life and my commitment to you is I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

David lets us know, like if we would allow the shepherd to lead us.

He's got everything taken under control and David is like as a sheep following the shepherd.

I give him permission to lead, to guide, to give me rest and comfort, to nudge me and correct me when it's necessary.

He covers every aspect of me.

So if we look through spiritual eyes, every person around us may look like they have it all together, but if we see it through spiritualized, they might be wandering, broken families, addiction, but they may be riding in a Mercedes, going into a gated community, and we're like, man, I wish I was them.

Or we could have through Spiritualizing and go, Ooh, they need what I got.

We need to ask.

Here's the second thing.

Jesus had compassion.

He had compassion.

Jesus was able to sympathize and empathize.

With the same people that he was praying for, doing miracles for, and yet his heart was still broken because he is like, I cannot be everywhere in my fleshly body.

Boy if I release you, oh, they can get a touch of heaven.

Like he could feel what they felt.

In fact, Hebrews chapter four, verse 14 says this, look at this now.

This is about Jesus.

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, that's what we're gonna celebrate next Sunday.

Jesus, the Son of God, watch.

Now let us hold firmly to the faith we profess for.

We do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way just as we are.

Yet he did not sin.

Therefore, let us approach God's throne with grace of grace, with confidence that we may receive mercy.

Find grace to help us in our time of need.

Jesus felt their pain because Jesus lived through some types of pain.

We all remember right? Jesus' life was threatened.

They didn't get, he wasn't born in a hotel.

Jesus was born in a stable, in a manger.

He was mocked, told who he was, not like they tried to kill him as he was doing miracles, threatening his life.

For an innocent man, the enemy tempted him.

If you're the son of God, turn this stuff into food.

Hey, I give you everything you really need.

Throw yourself off this mountain tempted, but yet he didn't sin.

Jesus is able to sympathize and empathize with the person.

That's sitting right next to you or may live in the house or apartment next to you team, you can come on back up or you may already be here.

If those keys started playing when I said that and nobody was there, cha woo.

Take out your phones.

Take out your phones.

That's a viral moment.

And they would be, they wouldn't even meet in here throughout the week.

Write this down, write this down.

Number three, Jesus was, I use this word, Jesus was honest.

He was very honest.

He said, Hey, the harvest is very plentiful, but the workers are very few.

Um, the disciples, if they wanted their pride to get in the way, they could have been like, Jesus, what you talking about? We, the ones that's here, we, your workers.

We gave up everything, but no, they listened to his heart and his honesty because this mattered to him.

It mattered to Jesus that not everybody had their eternity set just yet, that it mattered to them that Jesus was pouring out his heart in ways that he'd done before to him.

To be brutally honest and give Heavens perspective, harvest is plentiful.

Countless few workers who are willing to impact somebody else, we have a great opportunity here at City Place Church to where every single person in this room, you are uniquely qualified.

If you call City Place home to help city place impact someone else.

For many of you, it's time.

Time to help us.

Only, only we know the momentum of heaven.

And it's not about the number of people that will come here.

It's about the lives being changed.

Remember I told you the 900 saved and the gap between the baptisms, great opportunity that you and I have to be impactful on our jobs.

Write this down.

So often we become a community and forget we are an army of spirit-filled people with power called to go.

So often we become just a community and we forget that we are an army of spirit-filled people called to go.

We're called to go.

Y'all.

If, if, if, if we're not careful, we'd be city place church, and we'll do our Sundays and our Wednesdays and our small groups.

And it'll feel like it's a great club that no one can merge into.

Hey, we're going to be a life-giving community.

We will fight for that, but we also have to fight for the person that hasn't heard about Jesus, the broken person, the one whose marriage is hanging on by thread the the person who's in singleness and they're feeling like God, will you ever display your love to me? The person that feels like the sin that they committed, God won't forgive like we are immobilized, spiritual army filled with God's presence to impact others.

Joshua chapter one, Hey, all of the fighting men, you're qualified.

Get them rest.

Get them their possession, and then you get a chance to rest.

Matthew chapter nine, my heart's broken.

10 verse one.

Now you go.

You pray.

You minister to them.

Like we are a spiritual army.

Write this down, write this down.

Here's what Jesus did.

Just some takeaways.

Jesus said this.

He said to pray, to request and to ask the Lord to supply workers for his harvest, to pray and to ask that the Father would send out laborers and workers for his harvest.

A part that you and I can play together as we can pray and ask God to give city, place the dream teamers and the volunteers that's needed.

But do you know what? We can also stand in the gap for other churches in our city as well.

God give them everything that they need for what you've called them to do and the part that they're playing that there won't be a gap in our city.

God, we pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers for your harvest.

Second Corinthians, chapter six, verse one says that we are workers together.

Ephesians chapter four, 11 through 13 says, Hey, that we have pastors, evangelists, prophets, teachers that allow us to be equipped for the work of ministry.

Two Timothy chapter four, verse five says, do the work of an evangelist be ready, always to share what Jesus has done for you.

Y'all, can we dream together about the impact that we can make together, that if God uses you and then God uses me, and God uses the person beside you? Can we dream about the impact that we can make together? If we all served together and impacted the one together? Only heaven knows what is seen right now that we would see in the natural if we moved together.

If we move together, I've, I've been asking myself a couple of personal questions and, and, and you can chime in.

Why, why would one person be driven by eternity? And others are not? Been asking myself that question.

Why is one person driven by eternity and others are not? And why don't we all feel Jesus' burden for people at a heavier weight than we do? I'm a pastor and I've been praying that prayer like, God, I want to feel the weight.

The weight.

You feel it? I, I, I don't just want to be a pastor just because I've been doing it for 20 plus years.

No.

What's fresh for me in this season? What's the burden in this season that'll cause me to pray and seek you like never before? And here's number five, and then we're gonna pray out.

We're gonna pray out this morning.

The takeaway is that Jesus gave them authority to impact others as they pray.

He gave them authority to impact others.

Joshua gave it to his men.

Jesus gave it to his disciples.

You and I possess that same authority to impact somebody else.

In fact, in Matthew chapter 28, verse 19, I mean verse 18, it says, in Jesus came and spoke to them saying, all authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.

Matthew 28:19

Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I watch now have commanded you.

And Lo I am with you always, even to the end of the earth, Jesus gave.

You and I authority to be able to go, to be able to impact others.

So here's the ask for Easter weekend and for all of 20 26, 20 27, and until Jesus returns, can we all be united in this? One focus of today is that this church is gonna impact the one? Can we all, can we all be united in that? If you will say, I will.

If we can be united in impacting the one, write these three things down, then we gonna do these three things.

We're gonna reach the one we're gonna reach, the one we're gonna we God is gonna show us.

We're going to reach the one we won't swing and miss.

We will reach the one.

We're gonna have an invite culture here at City Place Church, not just on special events.

God is gonna give us opportunities to go.

Will you come with me to small group? Yesterday we had, I think, 20 couples in, in our new office location, and they were growing together, laughing together, and Benny got up and he said, the reason why this is growing is because you are doing life together with each other.

Come with me here, come with me that we're gonna have an invite culture on your seat, there's an, there's a card that I want you to fill out today.

I'm gonna give you instruction and I'm gonna have you drop it in the, uh, the basket.

As you leave, you can give it to the team.

As you, uh, are hanging out for the meeting.

There's a spot here that has your name and your email and it says, who's my one? I want you to write down who's your one.

As we think about who we're gonna reach, I want you to write down who's your one.

The second thing, write this down.

We're gonna minister to and serve the one we're gonna minister to, and we're gonna serve the one.

We are gonna minister two and we're gonna serve the one we are gonna serve in God's house.

We want to care for you.

So well, do you know what? My voice just cracked.

You know what? Be great if I was about to tear up.

You know what? Well, listen, you're needed here.

You're needed in kids' ministry.

You need it in the parking lot.

You need it in the tech.

You need it in.

Ah.

If you can sing and worship you, you, you, you're needed.

Even if you're like, wherever you need me, you're needed.

Because as city place continues to grow, we need to be able to minister to people, pray with people, follow up with people, disciple people, encourage people, hospital visits, funeral rooms, so many areas where everyone can play their, play, their part.

We've had so many people saved to where right now, the, the team that.

Carrying that they're overloaded.

We could use you with an email, sending an email encouraging people.

We, we pray every single Wednesday we can use you for 30 minutes.

Standing in the gap at 6:00 AM on Wednesday standing and, and in the middle, and just praying and going after and bringing down spiritual strongholds for someone else who's going to encounter the gospel.

So we're gonna minister to in the serve.

And then number three, we're gonna establish the one we're gonna establish, the one we're gonna establish, the one we are gonna help others grow in their relationship with Jesus.

On that same card, there's an opportunity for you and I to serve.

We're gonna ask you to help us on Sunday Easter Sunday.

Good Friday to help us establish the one.

After you write down who you're praying for and believing for, we're also gonna ask you which service will you serve, and then you get to attend the other one.

We have everything for your kids.

We have everything for you.

And then you can pick an area where you'd like to be a part.

Now you're filling out that card.

We we're gonna establish the one, and I couldn't help but think about John Chapter 12.

Jesus went to Lazarus's house after he had raised him from the dead.

Martha's working, and it says that Mary comes over, pours out costly oil to Jesus' feet, and it says that the priests were outside because they were trying to kill Jesus.

And it says this, when you finish, it says this, that as Jesus left the house, it says that, uh, in verse 10, it says, so the chief priest made plans to kill Lazarus as well for on account of him.

Many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him.

Lazarus was risen from the dead, but he couldn't keep it to himself.

He started telling the community and the community started following Jesus and people wanted to kill Lazarus too.

And that story leads into the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ because it says that as they left, Jesus had told his disciples, go, there's an owner of a donkey and a cult.

Go and tell them that the Lord has need of it.

After Jesus has done miracle signs and wonders, he goes and he sits on the donkey and a coat.

And as he's doing it, the Bible says that because of the impact that Jesus has made and the testimonies of others, that the community started crying out.

Hosanna, Hosanna.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

And the people started to worship, and it literally says that the people were even more frustrated because the world was being turned upside down because when Jesus was impacting one, the one was impacting others.

What can we do this Easter if we choose to impact the one together? Amen.
