  1. Welcome to the Southwest Apostolic Church podcast.

  2. This podcast is brought to you by the Southwest Apostolic Church,

  3. located at 3161 South Rowena Street in Indianapolis, Indiana, 46241.

  4. The podcast will feature preaching

  5. from our pastor and from other ministers, so we hope you enjoy it.

  6. Without further ado, let's get right into it. God bless.

  7. You can't ever be too low for the Lord to reach you.

  8. The devil tells people there's no hope. He tells them they went too far.

  9. He tells them that they can't get back to where they want to be or need to be.

  10. But I want to tell you, you can. Amen.

  11. I want to tell you the blood can reach you no matter where you are,

  12. whether you're high or whether you're low, that blood can do the work. Praise God.

  13. Praise the Lord. For God, you have not went too far that he couldn't get you. Praise God.

  14. First Thessalonians tonight. I think I can try this, Sister Young.

  15. Let's see how it works. See how it works.

  16. First Thessalonians 4 and 1. We want to talk tonight about something that's dear to my heart.

  17. It's dear to my heart because I think that's what it's all about.

  18. Let's read the scripture together, shall we? Furthermore, then,

  19. we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as you have

  20. received of us how you ought to walk,

  21. and to please God, so you would abound more and more.

  22. Amen. I want to talk about the walk of the believer tonight,

  23. the walk of the believer.

  24. Let's pray again. Jesus, we love you. Thank you for your blessings,

  25. God. We thank you for your goodness to us.

  26. We ask you to help us here with this service tonight.

  27. Help us, oh God, with everything that we're trying to do here,

  28. that your word would go out tonight.

  29. We love you, Jesus. We love you, and thank you for your blessings and your goodness to us.

  30. Amen. Amen. The Amplified, you may be seated.

  31. The Amplified says it like this. It says, furthermore, brethren, we beg.

  32. And the Amplified Bible, a lot of times in the English, we say a word.

  33. But in the Greek, there was a lot more to it than just one little word.

  34. They were expressing thoughts.

  35. So the Amplified Bible amplifies the words. It tells you more of what the meaning of the words.

  36. So let's look at this here. Furthermore, brethren, we

  37. beg and admonish you in virtue of our union with the Lord Jesus that you follow

  38. the instructions which you have learned from us about how you ought to walk

  39. so as to please and gratify God,

  40. as indeed you are doing,

  41. and that you do even more and more abundantly, attaining yet greater perfection

  42. in living this life. Amen.

  43. So, walking with God is, the word means in the Strong's, it says to tread all around,

  44. just walk like you would think, and especially, I like this,

  45. especially as proof of ability.

  46. OK, you know, like I can walk. So you show that you can walk.

  47. Well, let me say the people in the world and God are not looking for people

  48. that are just talking the talk. You ever heard that?

  49. God's looking for somebody that's walking the walk. Amen.

  50. He said, and my old friend Anthony said one time, he said the phrase,

  51. what you're doing is talking so loud, I cannot hear what you're saying.

  52. You know, it's like the old parent sometime that, don't you dare pick,

  53. I catch you smoking a cigarette, I'm going to beat your brains out,

  54. you know, and they're puffing away.

  55. So, you know, but in a Christian life, our walk is supposed to go along with our talk.

  56. Somebody say amen, amen. So a walk at large is proof of ability,

  57. figuratively now, that means when we talk about the walk of the believer,

  58. That means to live and deport oneself, follow,

  59. be occupied with, or walk about, to make one's way, progress,

  60. do use of opportunities.

  61. The Hebrew for is to live, to regulate one's life, to conduct oneself,

  62. and to pass one's life. So the walk of life, all this goes into that one word, walk.

  63. So we're talking about, really, we're talking about the life of the believer

  64. and the walk of the believer.

  65. So we started out tonight where Paul tells the Thessalonians,

  66. not that you're not doing it, but I want you to keep doing it.

  67. Can I encourage you to keep living for God tonight? Can I encourage you not to stop?

  68. Can I encourage you to do like Paul tells the church to go, to keep going?

  69. Not indeed you're doing and that you do even more and more abundantly attaining

  70. yet greater perfection in living this life. That is what it's all about.

  71. God wants to bless our lives and teach us how to live.

  72. The scriptures are given to us as a roadmap for life, and they're given to us

  73. that we might walk and be right here.

  74. Now, they're given to us to get us saved, no doubt, and help us live right here

  75. and help us to get to heaven.

  76. But sometimes we talk about heaven so much, and sometimes people get so concentrating

  77. on heaven that they forget about the emphasis on living the life right here.

  78. Brother Means used to say it like this, ain't no sense talking about heaven

  79. if you're living in the basement. Praise the Lord.

  80. You know, so God inspects us to live.

  81. And, you know, I didn't have this scripture up on the screen,

  82. but Enoch lived 65 years and begat Methuselah, and Enoch walked with God after

  83. he begat Methuselah 300 years and begat sons and daughters.

  84. And all the days of Enoch were 365 years, and Enoch walked with God,

  85. and he was not, but for God took him.

  86. I don't know what all is involved in that, but Enoch walked with God and God took him.

  87. And that's the way it is with the church. We're going to be walking with,

  88. if you're going to go in the rapture, you better be walking with God. Amen.

  89. If we're going to make it in the rapture, we better have a walk with God. Praise the Lord.

  90. So let's see the next scripture we want to go to. Bible study night tonight. Praise the Lord.

  91. Where am I? Sister Young, what have I got there?

  92. Not Psalms. What's the next one? Give me that one.

  93. So walking to walk, not just talking to walk in the walk, not just talking to

  94. talk, and not just what we're doing.

  95. Now, I'm not going to tell you how to walk myself tonight.

  96. I'm not going to tell you what I think. I'm not giving you my,

  97. now I probably throw in some things as a person, but what I'm going to let you

  98. see what the Bible says about it tonight.

  99. You know, if you want to know what the Bible, if the Bible tells us to walk

  100. with God, it tells us how to do it.

  101. And it gives us instruction to how. If the Bible tells us, Paul tells us to

  102. walk with God and Enoch walked with God, and we understand that living for God

  103. and walking with God is important, then what do we do? What does that mean exactly?

  104. Well, let's let the Bible tell us about it. Amen. I want the Bible to tell me about it. Don't you?

  105. All right. What's the one I got up there? Let's see.

  106. Yeah. Therefore, we are always confident knowing this, knowing that whilst we

  107. are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord. Oh, I didn't put seven on there. My bad.

  108. The next verse seven is we walk by faith and not by sight.

  109. Walking with God is a faith walk. You have to have faith.

  110. And faith is like Abraham.

  111. It's faith to faith. The just shall live by faith.

  112. You have good times and you have bad times and you have good times and you have bad times.

  113. And so it's a walk with God. It's a faith walk. It's every day.

  114. You know, you have to have faith because some days things don't go like you want them to.

  115. And some days you don't have everything you think you ought to get.

  116. You don't think God's answering your prayer. You think you've ever prayed and

  117. felt like God wasn't even near nowhere.

  118. You know, it's like the two guys that went to the church of Christ,

  119. the two apostolic boys went to the church of Christ.

  120. You know, everything's quiet. And they said, we're going to pray.

  121. So the two apostolic boys, they said, let's pray. And they just cut into praying.

  122. Oh, hallelujah. Jesus moving this service.

  123. And they said, the other people said, hang on, hang on.

  124. God's not hard of hearing. You don't have to get so loud. They said,

  125. yeah, but He's a long way from here. Praise the Lord.

  126. Praise the Lord.

  127. You know, you ever prayed and felt like God was a long way away?

  128. You know, how many knows when God feels like he's a long way away when you're

  129. praying, you got to pray anyway.

  130. I said, you pray anyway. You say, well, I'm not getting anywhere. Pray anyway.

  131. I'm not getting anywhere. Things aren't happening. Just keep going.

  132. Just keep living by faith. Keep walking by faith. Keep going.

  133. Just keep on moving. Keep on trying, living for God. The worst thing to do is quit.

  134. And the worst thing to do is get discouraged.

  135. The devil will get us discouraged. You'll be doing everything you know to do, be doing best you can.

  136. I mean, you're really trying and doing the best you can, and the devil gets

  137. you discouraged and tell you you're not doing good enough.

  138. God's not looking for somebody that's got it all together. He's just looking

  139. for somebody that is sincerely trying.

  140. I said sincerely trying.

  141. Sincerely trying really means business with God, and they're trying to walk with God.

  142. They might not have it all together yet. They might not be perfect yet,

  143. but they're growing, and they're being sanctified. That's a whole other Bible study.

  144. But the sanctifying process is a process, and God wants us to keep walking and

  145. keep letting him move in our life and keep functioning and changing things in

  146. our life. What's the next one we got up there, Sarah?

  147. Huh? All right. Romans 6 and 4.

  148. Therefore, we are buried with him by baptism unto death, like that as Christ

  149. was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father,

  150. Even so, we also should walk in newness of life.

  151. When you live for God, you don't, when you get the Holy Ghost,

  152. the Bible says that you are a new creation.

  153. You're a new creature in Christ.

  154. Old things are passed away and all things have become new.

  155. Before I got saved, me and my buddies, we'd all get together and hop in the

  156. car and roll up a couple of joints and go to Rustic Gardens and putt-putt.

  157. Well, after I got the Holy Ghost, after I got the Holy Ghost,

  158. they'd call me up. You going to Rustic Gardens?

  159. Not that there's anything going to Rustic Gardens, but I didn't want to get

  160. in the car and be rolling up no doobies no more.

  161. When you get saved, there's a difference. Some things pass away.

  162. Some things you quit doing. And, you know, I think sometimes people need to

  163. realize a saint should not be smoking doobies, okay?

  164. And I don't think anybody here is smoking any doobies. But what I'm saying is,

  165. don't get quiet on me when I say that now.

  166. I should get a big amen to what I should get here.

  167. But what I'm saying is, some things you quit doing. And it's just that simple.

  168. And we need to get it in our mind. When I got the Holy Ghost,

  169. I smoked cigarettes. And I tried to quit smoking cigarettes. And I smoked pot.

  170. And I did a lot of things. But when I got the Holy Ghost, I knew what I wasn't supposed to be doing.

  171. I knew that if I was in church, I wasn't supposed to be smoking no more. So I quit.

  172. I couldn't quit until I got the Holy Ghost. But after I had the Holy Ghost,

  173. let me tell you, your Holy Ghost needs to match up with your mind.

  174. Your Holy Ghost should wrap into your mind and it should be that simple, really.

  175. And sometimes we have a hard time because it's not in our mind yet.

  176. We need to get it in our mind. Like I, you know, I said, saints don't smoke.

  177. So I just quit because I knew and God helped me quit and saints don't smoke.

  178. So I didn't, I didn't, I just quit because I thought, well, we're not supposed to do that.

  179. Sometimes I think we don't realize we're doing something we shouldn't be doing

  180. and we just need to quit it because God doesn't want us to be doing it.

  181. And we don't really have an excuse because God, the Holy Ghost,

  182. you know, we got the Holy Ghost to help us.

  183. Somebody say, man, you know, if you cuss. like a sailor before you got saved,

  184. you need to quit cussing like a sailor after you get saved.

  185. And you need to just realize saints don't talk like that.

  186. Christians don't talk like that, so I'm not going to talk like that.

  187. So then he said, when you walk with God, walk in the newness of life.

  188. Walk in Christ. Walk in that which is new, not in the old, not like the old man.

  189. Before you got saved Somebody pulled up Put a cut in front of you in traffic

  190. It'd been road rage But after you get saved You ain't supposed to have road rage,

  191. What'd you tell me the other day Sister Young Some lady pulled a pistol on somebody

  192. or something That's what it was Yeah, I remember.

  193. Where at She read about that or something A lady guy Pulled in front of a lady

  194. Swirred in front of her She pulled in front of him He honked the horn She shot

  195. him with a pistol That's the old way of living.

  196. That ain't the way God's people live. Come on, somebody.

  197. So we walk in the newness of life.

  198. We walk by faith, but we walk in the newness of life. What's next one I got, Sister Young?

  199. All right, the book of Ephesians. All right, now this is a heavy one here. This one's heavy here.

  200. This is heavy. I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that you walk

  201. worthy of the vocation wherewith you are called.

  202. Now, somebody tell me what you're called, huh?

  203. The Bible says that when you get the Holy Ghost and you're living for God, you are called a saint.

  204. Now, I know what King James says, called to be. The to be is in there and added

  205. in the translation to help us understand it.

  206. But really, you are called. You have a tag put on you. You have a name put on you.

  207. When you get baptized in Jesus' name and get the Holy Ghost, you are a saint.

  208. You are a new creation in Christ Jesus, and you are a saint.

  209. And I want to tell you, that's how we're going to be judged as a saint.

  210. We've already been judged as a sinner. That guy's dead.

  211. We've already took care of the sin part. We've already took care of being a sinner.

  212. We've repented. We got baptized, and we buried that old man in the water,

  213. and we got the Holy Ghost, now we are a saint.

  214. And that's why Paul says, we beseech you as a prisoner of the Lord that you

  215. walk worthy of the vocation.

  216. The vocation there is the calling, the divine invitation to embrace the salvation of God.

  217. You are worthy of the vocation that you were called to. You're called to be something.

  218. That's why the King James says called to be, because we're sanctified in a process.

  219. But we are, you are a saint.

  220. When you say, I don't feel like one, well, you are. That's the name he put on you.

  221. He called you a saint. And that is the vocation.

  222. That is the calling. That is what you have been called to be.

  223. You see, aren't you glad God called you? Aren't you glad he called into your life?

  224. Amen. I'm glad. So he said, walk worthy, worthy is appropriately, as becometh a saint.

  225. You see, that's why as becometh, something is becoming.

  226. I wish I had a better vocabulary. But when you, as become, it's becoming.

  227. When you dress nice, it's becoming you.

  228. It looks nice.

  229. And you can have that in your attitude and how you walk and how you live.

  230. It's becoming, it's attractive in the right sense. It's attractive.

  231. It's godly. It's worthy.

  232. Suitably. It's suitable. That's a good word. In a manner worthy of. I like that, suitably.

  233. You're walking worthy. You're walking suitably like a saint should walk.

  234. That's what God's called us to.

  235. I just feel this. I don't know why, but I think this is part of the most important

  236. part of being a Christian is our life, our walking with God and submitting to His.

  237. That's why we have to submit to

  238. His plan and His will and His Spirit so we can be what He wants us to be.

  239. I want to be what He wants me to be, don't you? I really do.

  240. See, I mean, I've got a couple things coming to my mind, but I'll tell you,

  241. I've told you this before.

  242. We were at the mission one night on a Wednesday night before we were pastoring

  243. here, and we went in and turned the lights on.

  244. It was in the fall of the year, and it didn't dark already. It was about 730, and we went in.

  245. I had to go to the back of the little place we had rented, and I turned the

  246. lights on, and we heard, pop, pop, pop, pop, and Sister Young dropped down, you know, and I, huh?

  247. Yeah, you could hear somebody saying, get down, get down. And she did.

  248. You didn't have to convince her. She's duck walking, man.

  249. But me, you know, I'm kind of dumb. I wanted to go see what was going on.

  250. So I went out the door. And as I went out the door, this policeman,

  251. big policeman vest and everything ran past.

  252. And I walked down. I looked down the alley.

  253. And they had a man handcuffed.

  254. And he was laying in a gravel. and his face, you know, if you lay it in the

  255. gravel and you care about it, you're going to try to hold your head up because

  256. your face in the gravel is going to hurt.

  257. But they had him handcuffed. And then the next day, the fire department was

  258. right next door. And I said, did they shoot that guy?

  259. And the guy told me, yeah, they shot him in the leg or something.

  260. So I looked down there and I see this man laying in the alley.

  261. And it struck me because his face was just,

  262. just laying there like, man, who cares? You know, cause he just like,

  263. man, it's this, it's all over.

  264. And he was laying there and he was handcuffed and, and he was just laying there in a gravel like, man.

  265. And I thought, huh? I didn't hear you.

  266. Resolve to his fate. Yeah. I get you now. Okay. When you get you a microphone.

  267. Yeah. It's just like, he just gave in to what was going on. He didn't.

  268. And I thought to myself, that's not the way God wants people to live.

  269. That is not the will of God for anybody.

  270. You see? And what it is, we got to be careful as Christians because as saints

  271. of God, we don't say that much like the old timers used to say.

  272. They used to say saints all the time.

  273. You was a saint and they called you a saint and the pastor called you saints.

  274. And we use that word a lot. We don't use it much anymore, but we need to realize that we are saints.

  275. And I thought, God, that's not the will of God for anybody to live like that.

  276. God doesn't want people down in the gravel. God doesn't want people doing stuff that they're doing.

  277. God wants people to be able to walk and live and prosper, praise the Lord,

  278. and be ready to go to heaven. That's what God wants.

  279. Now, Peter and John went to the temple.

  280. This there's something called now i'm not going to

  281. get deep theological but there's something called the

  282. law of first mention in the bible like

  283. when the blood being shed in genesis the for the skins for adam and eve that

  284. was first mentioned we realize that points us to christ and all the way through

  285. the bible okay so jepeter and john were going up to the temple this is in the third chapter,

  286. right after the second chapter, right after the Holy Ghost was being poured out.

  287. This was the first church miracle.

  288. Miracle mentioned in the Bible after the church was born was about a man that couldn't walk.

  289. They went to the temple, and there was a man sitting there at the temple begging

  290. of alms, and Peter said, you know it,

  291. silver and gold have I none, but such as I have give I thee in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

  292. Somebody finish it. Rise up and walk.

  293. And they reached down, Peter reached down. See, Peter had the keys,

  294. so this all ties together. Peter reached down.

  295. The typology works perfect. Peter reached down, grabbed him by the hand,

  296. pulled him up, and the Bible says immediately his ankle bones received strength,

  297. and he went walking and leaping and praising God in the temple.

  298. That points me to the fact that the most prominent, preeminent miracle is when

  299. God reaches into your life, into my life, and we couldn't walk like we wanted to.

  300. We couldn't be, we couldn't act like we wanted to.

  301. We couldn't live like we wanted to, but we heard the preacher preach,

  302. repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the

  303. remission of your sins, and you shall be filled with the Holy Ghost.

  304. And when God fills you with the Holy Ghost, he empowers you,

  305. and you receive strength in your ankle bones to live and walk and leap and praise God. Hallelujah.

  306. Woo! That's the most important thing. That's what God wants in people's life.

  307. That's what it's all about.

  308. Bible says they were all amazed because they knew who this man was.

  309. You see, people know who you are before you get the Holy Ghost.

  310. See, I can't believe, you know, when I was worked for a company and we would

  311. go over, the drivers would go over to a company in Speedway.

  312. We kind of partners and the guys would go over there and they tell me now,

  313. this is just what I heard that when they talked in the lunchroom or the break

  314. room, they would talk about old crazy Jim,

  315. how old crazy Jim used to be so wild.

  316. Did you hear about Jim?

  317. You know, the guy that used to take five quaaludes and two meanie greenies and all that stuff.

  318. And the guy, did you hear he's going to church?

  319. And I don't know if they thought, somebody told me about it,

  320. said they were talking about you in the break room. That's how I knew about it.

  321. But I'll tell you what, when you get the Holy Ghost, you stop popping them meanie

  322. greenies. Come on, somebody.

  323. And you know, God does it. He puts, and you say, I can't, I'm going to tell

  324. you, God gave you the Holy Ghost, put strength in your ankle bones.

  325. And you need to realize God's empowered me to do this.

  326. And I'm going to do it because I shouldn't be doing it. So I'm going to do it.

  327. I'm going to make up my mind not to do it. Praise the Lord.

  328. Because I remember when I used to cuss to, you know, a teenage guy,

  329. 20 years old, we just was wild.

  330. There was probably six or eight of us. We was just a gang of guys,

  331. and we all lived around there. We all went to the Pacer games, and I remember –.

  332. Cussing, you know, carrying on at the Pacer game, probably drinking.

  333. And, and the guy told me to be quiet, you know, and, and I didn't like him and,

  334. and it could have turned into something, you know, a big fight,

  335. like a big brawl, like you see or something.

  336. But he got even with me. Cause when I left, my leather coat was saturated with

  337. beer. He just poured beer all over my coat.

  338. Cause he, he said something about my, but he was probably, you know, he was probably right.

  339. You know, I mean, You know, people don't need to be running their filthy mouths

  340. like they do. And I was one of them.

  341. But I'll never forget, I just got the Holy Ghost. And I probably told you this

  342. before, too. My buddy was on his motorcycle, and he had a Honda 750.

  343. Now, you don't realize, back in 1975 and 76, that was the thing.

  344. You had to have a Kawasaki 1000 or a 750 with the header on the side.

  345. You had to have the sound. And you go down Madison when they was all,

  346. Well, that's where we used to go from the McDonald's down to the TP,

  347. and the guys would ride their motorcycles, and they'd all park their motorcycles,

  348. you know, and sit on them.

  349. And the guys would park their cars, and the girls would scream,

  350. and the guys would holler, and all that teenage stuff.

  351. My buddy had his Honda and he come flying down the street.

  352. And I said, that, I started to say something and it's like something went,

  353. hold it right there. You don't say that no more.

  354. How many knows? We need to let the Holy Ghost guide us. We need to let the Holy Ghost talk to us.

  355. And we need the Holy Ghost to tell us how to walk and how to live. Praise the Lord.

  356. And we need to listen to that Holy Ghost. And that Holy Ghost talks.

  357. We need to just listen to it.

  358. Because he's not going to override your mind.

  359. He's not going to override you. He's going to tell you you need not do that,

  360. but he's not going to override you.

  361. You need to realize, and I need to realize in living for God,

  362. that there's a way that we're supposed to walk, and we're supposed to walk by faith.

  363. We're supposed to walk worthy of the vocation that we're called.

  364. And first, I don't think I wrote this one down for Sister Young,

  365. 2 Thessalonians 2, 12, that you would walk worthy of God, who have called you

  366. unto his kingdom and glory.

  367. That's pretty heavy, ain't it? I want to tell you something.

  368. God didn't just give us the Holy Ghost just for us to feel good and go through

  369. life and do whatever we want to do.

  370. He empowered us. That man that received strength in his ankle bones, he was not able to.

  371. He could sit at the temple door, but he didn't have fellowship with what was

  372. going on in the temple. He wasn't allowed to go in there.

  373. But after he was walking, he could go in there.

  374. You see, that's the way it is when we were sinners. We didn't have fellowship with God.

  375. We didn't come into the church and feel his power and his glory.

  376. But now after he's empowered us and we live for God, we can come into the temple,

  377. the church, and we can praise God and leap and jump and worship God.

  378. And I want to tell you, sometimes people aren't leaping and jumping because

  379. they got something holding them down that shouldn't be holding them down.

  380. Something they might need to let go of to let them get a little liberty. Praise the Lord.

  381. Bible says, lay aside the weight and the sin that does so easily beset us sometimes.

  382. Life, if we're not careful, well, life wants to put weights on you and the devil

  383. wants to put weights on you.

  384. He don't want you shouting. He wants you to be weighted down.

  385. But we want to be able to walk. I want to be able to walk. I don't know about you.

  386. Now, when a baby's born, he learns how to walk. When somebody gets the Holy Ghost, it's the same.

  387. They might not know exactly how they're, they weren't raised in church.

  388. They don't know all the ins and outs and they start living for God.

  389. And, you know, they might make a mistake or something. And, you,

  390. Everybody knows when a baby's learning how to walk, that baby's going to fall. He's walking.

  391. You know, he's, well, and everybody, yeah, look, he's walking.

  392. He's walking. And that's the way it is.

  393. But don't be discouraged because babies fall.

  394. But I want to tell you what, if you're 12 years old, you ought to be standing

  395. up being able to walk without falling.

  396. And we're, you know, we're certain age. We ought to walk.

  397. We're able physically, you know, we ought to be walking. And sometimes I know

  398. you can't, but I'm just saying, spiritually, after you've lived for God for

  399. a while, you ought to be walking worthy of what he called you to.

  400. What have I got another scripture there? Give it to me.

  401. Huh? I thought we read that one already.

  402. Did we? No? Is there another one? Hmm?

  403. That's all of them we had written down? Okay. I didn't put all of them in there.

  404. Okay. But I got a couple more.

  405. All right. Newness of life. Okay. Romans 8 and 1.

  406. Therefore, there's no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus,

  407. who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

  408. Okay. We're not supposed to walk after the flesh, just everything the flesh

  409. wants to do and everything the flesh wants, we give it.

  410. And the Bible says we are to follow the Spirit.

  411. They that are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

  412. How many knows, you know, the Bible talks about being led, you know,

  413. you're led by the flesh or you're led by the Spirit.

  414. That means you're following one or the other.

  415. You're either following your flesh and doing what the flesh tells you to do

  416. or wants you to do, or you're following the Spirit.

  417. I mean, he knows we should be following the spirit. We should be following the

  418. Holy Spirit of God that's leading us, not our flesh.

  419. You know, the biggest enemy you've got is probably not the devil.

  420. He's an enemy and we have to, he's trickery and all that. But the biggest enemy

  421. I have is this guy right here.

  422. My flesh is my big, me.

  423. That's why we need to learn to put our flesh under subjection.

  424. That's why we fast every once in a while. That's why we realize what I think ain't always right.

  425. And what I, you know, the way I am in my flesh, I need to not be that way because

  426. I need to follow the spirit of God.

  427. And the Bible tells us that the fruit of the spirit is what love and joy and

  428. peace, temperance, long-suffering, those kind of things.

  429. Not throw in the gas can when there ain't no gas in the can.

  430. You get mad and throw it across the garage.

  431. Y'all ain't never done that, I guess. All right, a couple more scriptures here.

  432. Walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

  433. Now, remember, I'm telling you what the Bible says about walking.

  434. Okay, let's see. Let's see. Manner of life.

  435. Oh, boy. Here's 1 John 2, 6. This is the, I'm going to lay the heavy one on you last.

  436. You ready for this one? This is the heavy one.

  437. 1 John 2 and 6. You ready? Got your seatbelt on? This is the big one.

  438. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also to walk even as he walked.

  439. That's a big one there, Steve.

  440. How am I supposed to walk? like Jesus walked. What am I supposed to do?

  441. What the old wristband or thing, what would Jesus do? That's what you're supposed to do.

  442. They slap you in the cheek, turn the other cheek.

  443. They spit on you, put a crown of thorns on your head, lie on you, fly off the handle.

  444. No, you're supposed to walk like he walked. He never did tell a lie.

  445. He never did say anything. They slapped. Somebody said this.

  446. I read this or heard it years ago. They slapped him a mouth that never said

  447. anything he shouldn't say.

  448. They put crowns of thorn on a head that never thought what he shouldn't be thinking.

  449. They put nails in his hands that never touched anything he shouldn't touch.

  450. And they put nails in feet that never walked anywhere they shouldn't walk.

  451. Let's raise our hands right now. Say, Lord, help us to walk like you walked.

  452. Help us realize that you've called us to be saints and you've given us a manner of light, God.

  453. Help us walk like you want us to walk, Lord Jesus.

  454. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. The walk of the believer, most important thing in our life.

  455. It's not it. I mean, I want to shout. I want us to run.

  456. I want us to praise God. I want to leap. I want to do, you know,

  457. I'll never forget Brother Means' funeral.

  458. There was a friend of his that told him, whoever, they had a little thing.

  459. Childers was the man's name. Brother Childers, Brother Earl and Brother Danny

  460. might know Brother Childers, but Brother Childers and Brother Means said,

  461. if you go, I go to your funeral first, I'm going to do a roll down the aisle.

  462. And if I go to your funeral, I'll roll down the aisle.

  463. And Brother Means passed away. And Brother Childers said, Brother Means,

  464. I'm going to do what I said. And that guy rolled down the aisle.

  465. But I want to walk like he wants me to walk, don't you? Yeah.

  466. Oh, God, the walk of the, that's the most, you know, it's not about rolling. It's not about jumping.

  467. It's not about how it's swinging and all that's good. All that's what we need.

  468. But what God's really looking for is somebody that's got it in their mind and

  469. in their heart. I'm going to walk with God.

  470. And I want to tell you, if you want to make the rapture, you better be walking with him.

  471. You know, it's a serious thing. And sometimes we don't take God as serious as we should.

  472. You know, I'd hate to be doing something and miss the rapture, wouldn't you?

  473. That I shouldn't be doing, that's something that's going to cause me to miss the rapture.

  474. You know, I'd hate to be, well, I don't want to get into all that.

  475. I just don't want to miss it, do you? I want to make it, don't you?

  476. I said, I want to make it. And your walk is, and you see the church in the world,

  477. Jesus said, we're the light of the world. People have to see us.

  478. We're the only Jesus they're ever going to see.

  479. It's not to glorify us, it's to glorify him, that his spirit tells us,

  480. his word tells us, and it shows the world you can live for God in today's world.

  481. Somebody say amen. You can be a saint of God today.

  482. You can walk right. You can live right. You can be what God wants you to be.

  483. You can. And don't ever forget the Holy Ghost.

  484. He said, ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you,

  485. and ye shall be my witnesses, not just, you know, in Jerusalem,

  486. Samaria, but not just talking about him.

  487. When he said, you be my witness, he didn't mean just go around just talking about him.

  488. You're going to be a witness to the fact that God can help a man be what a man

  489. should be. Praise the Lord.

  490. And you can tell them what Jesus did for you. And if he done it for you,

  491. somebody said, if he saved me, he can save anybody.

  492. Isn't that right? Don't you feel that way? If he saved me, he can save anybody. Praise the Lord.

  493. And I'm not saying I'm perfect, but I'm trying.

  494. Every day I've said this since I got the Holy Ghost, I've thought about God every day.

  495. And that's what we want to be. We want to be walking with God,

  496. because just like Enoch, when

  497. that trumpet sounds, it's going to be those that are walking with God,

  498. being led by the Spirit of God, not by the flesh, but by the Spirit. Let's stand tonight.

  499. Thank you for listening to our podcast. Southwest Apostolic Church is a place of refuge.
