  1. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of God, of all ages.

  2. Welcome to the City Place Church Podcast, wherever you are in the world.

  3. We thank you for making the time to tune in.

  4. Take a moment to get focused.

  5. Clear your mind, close your eyes, open your heart and receive what God has for you on this day.

  6. All right, if you ready, say let's go.

  7. Let's go.

  8. We are going to search the scriptures this morning.

  9. Hey, I wanna give a quick shout-out to Jacob last week preaching, "Am I Built to Last?" Man, he, he brought it, and I know I was challenged all week, and I pray that every week, for those of you who, uh, call Cityplace home and you come, uh, consistently, I pray that, um, we don't have a collection of 52 messages at the end of the year that we have not applied.

  10. Right.

  11. Mm-hmm.

  12. I pray that every week it builds upon the things that God's already saying to you so that we can continue to grow.

  13. So never let a Sunday morning be a Sunday morning motivational speech.

  14. Take that throughout the week.

  15. That's the reason why we have message notes on every seat.

  16. Um, take that.

  17. Study that, because God's gonna say something to you totally different during the week than you may have heard on a Sunday morning.

  18. And so I wanna challenge you to keep those message notes in front of you throughout the week because God wants to just continue to build upon what He's already saying.

  19. Can you say amen? Amen.

  20. Awesome.

  21. Well, hey, we gonna get ready to, to search the scriptures.

  22. Gonna kick off something a little new today.

  23. I'll tell you the title here in a few moments, but I just wanna highlight a couple of things.

  24. If you're here for the very first time, it's an honor to have you, and if we haven't met, I'd love to say hello at the end of service while we're getting that free ice cream.

  25. Come on.

  26. Jesus is in the building with ice cream.

  27. So, and so, uh, I would love to just say hello.

  28. My wife, uh, she sends her love, but she is not feeling 100%.

  29. And so, aw yeah.

  30. Yeah.

  31. And so, and so I, I said, "Hey, rest."

  32. She has to travel for work this week.

  33. I said, "It's better, um, for your body to be recovered than for you to spread whatever you got to a group of people you talking to," right? And so, uh, she's just, uh, resting and, um, if you can, pray for her this week.

  34. And, uh, I j- I just know that she loves you, she misses you, um, but her recovery's important to me, you know? And so, um, yes, so she's- she's there.

  35. But if you are here for the, um, very first time, there's a connection card on your seat, or maybe there's something we can pray with you about or, um, you wanna learn more about Cityplace Church.

  36. This connection card will allow our team to connect with you and to bro- uh, provide additional information on some ways we can come alongside you, like you heard, um, on the, uh, on church news.

  37. I wanna highlight, um, the financial workshop that we have on June the 20th.

  38. Um, we- we- we- we did a small group called Navigating, um, Your Finances God's Way, and it was one of the most talked about small groups that we've had in our church.

  39. The reason why is because it doesn't matter what level of income you are or where you are currently financially, just having God's viewpoint from your financial aspect of life is vital.

  40. And so if you wanna, uh, strengthen your budget, if you wanna t- think about how you can plan more strategically in the future, if you just wanna learn more about finances, if you wanna get a strategy on maybe how to get out of debt or whatever it may be or plan for the future, we would love to- to come alongside you during this workshop.

  41. It'll be for about an hour and a half, two hours.

  42. Um, uh, Mr.

  43. Andre, who was up here leading worship today, he and his wife Lisa, um, are gonna be leading that.

  44. And so I wanna encourage you to go on the Church Center app, which you can find on whatever platform you have.

  45. Sign up for that.

  46. It's worth the investment.

  47. It doesn't cost you anything.

  48. We just want to continue to grow in the knowledge of God in every area of discipleship.

  49. Right.

  50. And so whether that's, uh, opening up the scriptures and seeing what God has to say about parenting or fam- family or even our health, like one of the announcements said, we also wanna do that in our finances, that we're whole.

  51. We don't just wanna be limping in any area.

  52. Is that all right if we have these things available for all of us? Yeah.

  53. Awesome.

  54. If you have your Bible, go with me to Joshua chapter two.

  55. Joshua chapter two.

  56. I, um, we have been, uh, in a Just kind of a, a vision year where God has spoken to us.

  57. Josiah prayed about it here just as, a few moments ago, where God spoke to us and said, "We're moving from cautious to courageous."

  58. And we've been spending a lot of time in Joshua 1.

  59. We've even be- been declaring it, uh, in verse nine where it says, "Have I not commanded you to be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

  60. And so, uh, over the last week and a half, two weeks, I jumped back into the, the Book of Joshua because I wanna continue to take us through this journey of seeing what moving from cautious to courageous looks like, and seeing when God says something and people get behind what God says and they start taking these steps, that when God starts moving, He makes it clear that there's victory in the place.

  61. And so I was praying over the last few weeks and just kind of felt like the Lord was like, um, for the first Sunday in June, I'm gonna speak to the church about what's going to happen, and the action steps that will be required.

  62. Is that all right if He does that? Yeah.

  63. Everybody ready to say let's go? Let's go.

  64. So let's, let, let's start it off, let's start it off with just a little declaration.

  65. Do we have Joshua 1:9? We've been doing this, uh, since we declared the, the, the focus for the year.

    Joshua 1:9

  66. And it's just simply just put your name in front and declare with everything you've got, "I'm strong and I am courageous."

  67. On the count of three.

  68. Are you ready? Yeah.

  69. Here we go.

  70. One, two, three.

  71. Damon.

  72. Damon.

  73. Have I not- Yeah.

  74. Let's pray.

  75. Yeah.

  76. Thank you, Lord, that your word is true.

  77. We are strong and courageous.

  78. I pray, Holy Spirit, that what you say today stirs us up to know that you're on the move and you're about to do something that's gonna blow our mind- Yeah that's gonna bring you glory.

  79. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray.

  80. Can you say amen? Amen.

  81. All right, so I'm gonna tell you, you're gonna wanna buckle up a little bit because we are going to read scripture.

  82. Wow.

  83. And I, and I'm reading it intentionally.

  84. I'm gonna prep you.

  85. We have 24 verses to read All right? I'm, I'm just preparing you so that you'll be like, "Oh, my goodness."

  86. It's on your, it's on your notes as well.

  87. We have 24 verses to read.

  88. I'm gonna give you the context of them, and then I'm gonna tell you what I felt like the Lord told me.

  89. Now, when you read the text, you gonna be like, "Huh?" Because there's some, there's some stuff in there you gonna be like, "Say what?" And then there's some things in there where you gonna be like, "Okay, yeah, I get that."

  90. But I wanna tell you what I felt like the Lord has for us in this text.

  91. But I have to read it all, give you context, and then we'll go from there.

  92. Sound good? All right, here we go.

  93. Got my glasses on.

  94. You know what? When you turn a certain age There are things that I wish I would've been told because I would've ate those carrots.

  95. Oh, yeah.

  96. You know what I'm saying? Right.

  97. I would've ate the carrots.

  98. They told me that if you eat the carrots, it'll help your vision.

  99. I was like, "I don't like carrots."

  100. Now, I'm like, "I love carrots," but it's too late.

  101. All right, here we go.

  102. I don't know why I said that.

  103. Joshua 2 says, "Now Joshua the son of Nun sent out two men from Acacia Grove to spy secretly saying, 'Go view the land, especially Jericho.'

  104. So they went and came to a house of a harlot named Rahab and lodged there.

  105. And it was told the king..."

  106. I, I want you guys to just listen to what I'm reading and ask the Holy Spirit, like this is just like powerful stuff that's taking place, okay? I just, I just had this pause there.

  107. I had nothing to say, but I just want you to pay attention.

  108. All right, here we go.

  109. "And it was told the king of Jericho saying, 'Behold, men have come here tonight from the children of Israel to search out the country.'

  110. So the king of Jericho sent to Rahab saying, 'Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered your house, for they have come to search out all the country.'

  111. Then the woman took the two men and hid them.

  112. So she said, 'Yes, they came to me, but I did not know where they were from.'

  113. And it happened as the gate was being shut when it was dark that the men ran out.

  114. Where the men went, I do not know.

  115. Pursue them quickly, for they may-- for you may overtake them.'

  116. But she had hid them up on the roof and hidden them from the stalks-- with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order on the roof.

  117. Then the men pursued them by the road to the Jordan to the fords.

  118. And as soon as those who pursued them had gone out, they shut the gate.

  119. Now before they lay down, she came up to them on the roof and said to the men, 'I know...'"

  120. Now pay attention to, to this next p-part, okay? "'I know that the Lord has given you the land, that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land are fainthearted because of you.

  121. For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, Og, whom you utterly destroyed.

  122. And we-- A- and as soon as we have heard these things, our heart melted.

  123. Neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you.

  124. For the Lord your God, He is our God in heaven above and on the earth beneath.'"

  125. Everybody look up at me real fast.

  126. Just pause real fast.

  127. All that has happened here is that hearsay has turned into their reality Something happens when others begin to testify about what God is doing in your life Something happens when you ain't even speaking.

  128. Yes.

  129. But your life begins to speak for itself, and others begin to talk about what God's doing- Good in you.

  130. Amen.

  131. Okay, let's keep going.

  132. Just had to pop in there to make sure you stay with me and don't fall asleep.

  133. Anybody remember what verse we were on? 12.

  134. Verse 12.

  135. Thank you so much, church.

  136. Now therefore, I beg you, swear to me by the Lord, since I have shown you kindness, that you also will show me kindness, uh, show kindness to my father's house, and give me a true token, and spare my father and mother, my brothers, sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death."

  137. So the men answered her, "Our lives for yours, if none of you tell this business of ours.

  138. And it shall be, when the Lord has given us the land, that we will deal kindly with you and truly with you."

  139. Then she s- then she let them down by a rope through the window, for her house was on the city wall.

  140. She had dwelt on the city wall.

  141. And she said to them, "Go to the mountain, let the pursuers, let, lest the pursuers meet you.

  142. Hide there three days until the pursuers had returned.

  143. Afterwards, you may go your way."

  144. So the men said to her, "We will be blameless of this oath of yours, which you have made us swear, unless when we come into the land, you bind this line of scarlet cord in the window through which you let us down.

  145. Unless you bring your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your household into your own home.

  146. So it shall be that whoever goes outside of the doors of your house into the street, his blood shall be on his own head, and we will be guiltless.

  147. And whoever is with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head if a hand is laid on him.

  148. But if you tell our business-" If you say something to break a covenant, this will be, we will be free from your oath that you made with us."

  149. Then she said this, last thr- three verses, four verses.

  150. "Then she said, 'According to your words, let it be.'

  151. She sent them their way, and they departed.

  152. She bound the scarlet cord in the window.

  153. They departed and went to the mountain, stayed there for three days till the pursuers returned.

  154. The pursuers sought them all the way, but did not find them.

  155. So the two men returned, descended from the mountain, and crossed over, and they came to Joshua."

  156. Watch now.

  157. This is where we're gonna piggyback off of our title.

  158. "They crossed over and came to the son of Nun and told Joshua all that had befallen on them.

  159. And they said to Joshua," watch now, "'Truly the Lord has delivered all of the land into our hands.

  160. For indeed, all of the inhabitants of the country are faint-hearted because of us.'"

  161. This is how the Lord gave it to me, and I'm gonna tell you.

  162. Don't be surprised when God uses the unexpected to advance His purpose and His promise in your life.

  163. Simply put, this is going to be different.

  164. That's good.

  165. This is going to be different.

  166. Yeah.

  167. Joshua chapter two says that the men go to the place where there is a harlot, a prostitute.

  168. That's already different.

  169. And the Bible says that she is moved with fear and trembling just like the rest of the citizens of her nation.

  170. Because they had already heard what God had done, and fear had rose so much so that the whole nation was already paralyzed.

  171. And just seeing the spies, they knew their time was limited They find safety in a place that they normally wouldn't expect.

  172. Because during biblical days, if you were a part of any sort of an enemy in a battle, nobody was joining forces with you- Come on lest they die themselves in their own nation.

  173. But because of the hearsay and the victory, by the time that the spies got to the land, they already knew what God has promised is gonna happen to us They show up, the prostitute saves them, and by the time they spy out the land, they go back to Joshua and say, "Everything that the Lord has said is true."

  174. Now, this is contrary to the first group that went in Numbers chapter 13.

    Numbers 13 chapter mention

  175. Joshua and Caleb were a part of the original group of people that Moses has sent out to spy out the same Promised Land.

  176. This group of people that went the first time actually saw all that God had said, all that God had promised, took back a good report, but when they got back, they actually delivered it this way.

  177. Everything that God said is true.

  178. However, we will not be able to defeat them.

  179. We are grasshoppers in our, in their sight, and so we are in theirs.

  180. One was self-dependent.

  181. The other was God-dependent.

  182. See, this has got to be different.

  183. Yeah.

  184. When I lean on my own, I can't do it.

  185. No.

  186. And actually, you won't be able to either.

  187. If I lean on my own, I actually am gonna get in your way.

  188. But something is different when I allow God- Yeah to do His thing.

  189. Come on.

  190. And I rest in the fact- Come on that since there's a little bit of gossip going on- Mm hmm, this is gonna be different.

  191. Yeah.

  192. See, I'm reading in Joshua chapter 2, and I understand that this actually didn't begin in Joshua chapter 2.

Joshua 2 chapter mention Joshua 2 chapter mention

  193. It began in Joshua chapter 1, where we've been reading the whole time.

    Joshua 1 chapter mention

  194. Yeah.

  195. The reason why is because Moses had died.

  196. They had killed off all of the previous leaders and all of the other citizens that chose to doubt.

  197. Now, Joshua is now in this position, ready to go.

  198. We preached about it.

  199. You gotta go back and listen to all of the messages about what God wants to do in moving us from cautious to courageous, and He says, "Moses, my servant, is dead.

  200. Get up.

  201. Get ready.

  202. Let's go."

  203. And He begins to give him all of these promises.

  204. "As I was with Moses, I'll be with you.

  205. This is your territory.

  206. If you go this direction, I'm with you.

  207. If you go that direction, I'm with you.

  208. I will never leave you.

  209. I will never forsake you."

  210. And then He says this.

  211. He says, "And nobody, no man, will be able to stand before you all the days of your life."

  212. That'll do something for you.

  213. Yeah.

  214. When you know you can walk through a tough neighborhood and not have to hold your pocketbook.

  215. You, you, you go different when you got security.

  216. Come on.

  217. Y'all hear people yelling out in church.

  218. I feel confident when y'all are yelling out in church, "Security."

  219. Like, it's different when you know that you got armed services- Yeah walking with you.

  220. It's different than the spies going over and having to figure it all out.

  221. "How will we do it?" And, "No, we can't."

  222. It's different when God says, "It's different this time."

  223. Yeah.

  224. "I'll handle all of it."

  225. All of it.

  226. "You just go for it."

  227. Come on.

  228. So there's a different level of confidence when God says, "You don't actually have to fight nothing."

  229. Nothing.

  230. Come on.

  231. Like, what if in this season our mentality was different? Yeah.

  232. What if we said we gon' let Him fight? Mm-hmm.

  233. Just a question.

  234. So I, I, I was reading the scripture and, and there were some things that I felt like the Lord wanted to challenge us on prophetically, that's found in Joshua chapter two.

  235. Y'all trending okay? Yeah.

  236. So on your message notes, there's some things that I want us to write down that's gonna be different, but here's the thing: It's going to require you and I to have an action step in God's presence.

  237. It we, we, we won't be able to hear the promise and go, "Okay then, I'll just sit back."

  238. No, it's gonna require an action step of faith.

  239. It's gonna require an action step of being in God's presence because this is going to be different.

  240. Yeah.

  241. This is not a, "I will do it myself."

  242. No, this is if He promised it, and if He said it, then I'm gonna position myself to see Him do it.

  243. Yeah.

  244. Yeah.

  245. Yeah.

  246. So write this down.

  247. Write this down.

  248. What's gonna be different? What's gonna be different? I just felt like the Lord was just challenging me to challenge you.

  249. What's gonna be different is, is gonna be my confidence and my boldness.

  250. Mm.

  251. My confidence and my boldness is gonna be different because if I go back to Joshua chapter one, you told me this.

  252. Yeah.

  253. Yeah.

  254. You told me to be strong, and you told me to be courageous, and you told me my territory.

  255. You gave us the promise.

  256. You said that it's go time.

  257. You said that you would fight.

  258. You said that you would be present.

  259. You said you would never leave me.

  260. So since you promised, my confidence and boldness will be different.

  261. Yeah.

  262. That's good.

  263. And here's the thing, though.

  264. Here's the thing, because let's be real.

  265. There is a real struggle- Yeah between fear and faith.

  266. Come on.

  267. And normally, the thing that triggers that tug of war is the situation It's the situation.

  268. It's not that I don't believe that He can do it.

  269. I'm just not sure at times that He'll do it either in my time or He will really use me.

  270. He'll use you, Joe But will he do it for me? And there's this tug of war between faith and fear.

  271. But the thing that's gonna be different for you this summer is you're actually gonna walk in boldness and confidence.

  272. Yes.

  273. Like, there's this declaration of, "I choose to do this."

  274. If we were to continue in Joshua 1, he tells them, "Hey, be strong and courageous.

  275. Don't be afraid or dismayed.

  276. I'm with you."

  277. By the time he gets to verse 9, he says, "Okay, let me make this clear.

  278. You have no choice You have no choice but to be strong.

  279. You have no choice but to be courageous.

  280. And remember, Taisha preached on Mother's Day that, uh, being courageous is not moving from fear to bravery in one step.

  281. Yeah.

  282. It's actually taking the steps in God's presence to go, "Hey, I'm being consistent with you.

  283. I'm committed to you, and now I'm courageous in you.

  284. I'm connected."

  285. Last week, Jacob talked about being connected to the vine- Mm-hmm as being the way that God builds us to last.

  286. Yes.

  287. So this is not a you or a me thing anymore.

  288. This is all in Him.

  289. So I'm gonna do most of my activity spiritually and watch what He does naturally.

  290. Yeah.

  291. Y'all trending all right? Yes.

  292. So look at this, look at this.

  293. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear."

    2 Timothy 1:7

  294. Come on.

  295. So here, if you and I become fearful, we've all been there, we now, because it's different, goes, "That's not God."

  296. It's different.

  297. Fear rises, I will not even think about it.

  298. That's not God.

  299. Yeah.

  300. Yeah.

  301. If you've been like me at times, you'll dance with fear.

  302. Come on.

  303. Because I compare myself to you.

  304. The situation is too big, so I'm in this waltz with fear.

  305. Fear is present one day, and my faith is present the next.

  306. And then sometimes I twirl with fear, because sometimes fear is soothing because I don't have to take an action step.

  307. I don't have to be bold.

  308. I can just let the time pass.

  309. All right.

  310. But what if we say absolutely not, God didn't give that to me.

  311. He gave me power, He gave me love, and He gave me a sound mind.

  312. Those are all things that's gonna require me to remain in His presence.

  313. I can't walk in power by myself.

  314. Listen, I barely love people sometimes by myself.

  315. Listen, there are times, listen, when my mind plays tricks on me if I'm by myself.

  316. By myself.

  317. So that means that I've got to spend time with Him.

  318. This has got to be different This has got to be different.

  319. These men take a different route.

  320. He, he doesn't even send 12 spies.

  321. He's like, "You know what? Just two.

  322. This is different.

  323. Just two, and I'm gonna send the two that, one, if they need to take somebody out, they can.

  324. But two, we know what God's already gonna do.

  325. I need people who are gonna be sensitive to what God already spoke to us.

  326. This is different.

  327. I'm not sending a whole group.

  328. Too many of y'all got too many opinions.

  329. Just two.

  330. Where two or more are gathered in my name, I'm in the midst.

  331. I'm just, just sending, just sending two."

  332. So he sends two, he sends two, and they come back with a great report Confidence.

  333. Bonus Here, here, here's the second thing the Lord told me.

  334. Watch this, y'all.

  335. I almost, almost got out of my seat when I was reading this.

  336. Look, watch now.

  337. In this season, the thing that's gonna be different is that your enemies...

  338. Oh, y'all ready for this one? Your enemies will tremble and run in fear.

  339. Come on.

  340. All right.

  341. Y'all listen here now.

  342. When God has permission to be himself, there is no way that your enemy can stand in front of your God- All right now and feel like it has a chance.

  343. All right now.

  344. It's not gonna happen.

  345. It's not.

  346. Your God has already defeated your foe.

  347. Already.

  348. Yeah.

  349. In fact, Jesus put it like this, "The gates of hell shall not prevail- Come on against my church."

  350. That's right.

  351. Gates don't ever chase nobody down.

  352. Never.

  353. They try to close people out.

  354. Come on.

  355. Ooh, that'll preach right there.

  356. Listen, if you and I are advancing towards the kingdom, and you're taking territory, can you imagine your enemy going, "Mm, we don't want no part of them.

  357. No, no, no, no, uh, not, not, no, no, no, not that one.

  358. Not that one.

  359. Not, no, no, no, that, no, don't bother them."

  360. Like, they crawl over the wall.

  361. This woman who could actually go, "They're in the house, they're in the house, they're in the house," goes, "Whoa, wait a second.

  362. Okay.

  363. This is different.

  364. So I need to think redemption for my family.

  365. I need to think that if God changed you, he can change my lifestyle too."

  366. Yeah.

  367. "I don't like how I'm living.

  368. By looks of things, it looks like y'all gonna be prosperous.

  369. I don't wanna live the way I'm living no more when y'all about to take over my territory.

  370. So this is gonna be different for you, and it's gonna be different for me."

  371. See, God can change all sorts of things because he'll use certain situations that we didn't plan.

  372. That's right.

  373. And she says this to them, "We've already heard.

  374. Our trembling has moved throughout."

  375. And watch this, she says this, "And the courage we once had is gone."

  376. In Joshua chapter one, he tells them, "Be strong and courageous.

  377. Don't be afraid."

  378. In Joshua chapter two, the woman literally says, "Our courage is gone."

  379. Yes.

  380. Ooh, listen.

  381. When you have God's courage, your enemy doesn't Listen, this situation in our life, we have to look at it and go, "It's real."

  382. But Come on, but Does it? Security.

  383. But listen, but does your situation have authority? Yes.

  384. Does your situation have real power? Yes.

  385. And we could play the side of the fence, "But what if He doesn't?" Mm.

  386. But what if He does? Come on.

  387. Yeah.

  388. Like, we need to be on the side of, "He will."

  389. Yes, He will.

  390. And if He doesn't, He's able to.

  391. That's right.

  392. And if He did not, I am committed.

  393. That's right.

  394. I love you forever I'm not situational because the minute I get situational, I go, "I'm just a grasshopper in their sight."

  395. Or I let what God is doing and God wants to do in our lives begin to move so much where the enemy's like, "Oh, snap, Cityplace."

  396. Goodness, they starting to believe now.

  397. Right.

  398. Yeah.

  399. They had those early years, man, where they weren't believing like they believing now.

  400. Oh, man, people are starting to hang out in small groups.

  401. Oh, they, they used to isolate themselves, now they're going to, to tea and testimony.

  402. Oh, come on, man.

  403. All right, oh, what are we gonna do? Now, your enemy starts to get a little concerned When God starts doing things in your life and you're not trying to quiet God down.

  404. Yeah.

  405. So often in our lives, God is doing things and we're shushing God.

  406. "Nobody needs to know that.

  407. They don't need to know all that information."

  408. And God's like, "What are you talking about? I get the glory- Yeah and they draw closer- Yeah because of what you went through."

  409. Come on.

  410. Yeah.

  411. Like, we never know the rumbles that start to happen when your testimony starts to leak.

  412. Come on.

  413. Y'all all right? Yeah.

  414. So, so look, look, look, look.

  415. I, I, I, I read the pro- y'all, we won't finish today.

  416. I'm telling y'all right now.

  417. There is no need to rush I didn't preach for two weeks.

  418. This happens every week.

  419. Y'all, I am getting therapy from some of the leaders in the church to try to find ways to fill in these blanks.

  420. I'm getting so many suggestions.

  421. I'm trying to do better, trying to do better.

  422. Listen, listen, listen.

  423. Are y'all good though? Yeah.

  424. It's okay.

  425. It's the word, it's the word.

  426. Listen.

  427. Look, listen to Proverbs 28:1.

    Proverbs 28:1

  428. It says this: "The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion."

  429. Come on.

  430. Y'all.

  431. Oh, snap.

  432. Yeah.

  433. Quenard's in the neighborhood.

  434. We going Oh, Kathy.

  435. Oh, mm-mm City Place.

  436. Impact Week.

  437. No, no, no, no.

  438. Don't mess with them during that week.

  439. Don't mess with them during that week.

  440. Mm-mm, we cannot because they will go to praying.

  441. No, don't do that.

  442. Don't do that.

  443. Mm-mm.

  444. Mm-mm.

  445. Like, the wicked flee when no one pursues.

  446. Joshua chapter two, she's like, "You know what? We've already given up.

  447. So, since we've already given up, this is gonna be different for me, too."

  448. Like, in this season, your enemies will tremble in fear, and they will run.

  449. But here's the thing, it's not because of us.

  450. Your ene- your, your, your enemies are not gonna tremble because you walk in the room, and be like, "Damon is here."

  451. Nope.

  452. But the minute you walk in, and the boldness, and the confidence rooted in the word that God gave you- That's right and you start declaring your word back to the Father and not even paying attention to your enemy, is the minute your enemy's like, "Oh, here we go."

  453. Yeah.

  454. "They one of them."

  455. Right.

  456. Look at, look, look, look.

  457. I, I got another verse.

  458. I got another verse.

  459. Y'all, this was, this was one of my favorite verses.

  460. Acts chapter 19.

    Acts 19 chapter mention

  461. It is not in your notes.

  462. Acts chapter 19 verse 15.

    Acts 19:15

  463. It says this.

  464. It says And oh, it is up there.

  465. Praise the Lord.

  466. It says, look, "One day the evil spirit answered them and said, 'Jesus I know, Paul I know, but who are you?'" Right.

  467. Th- th- this was the seven sc- uh, sons of Sceva.

  468. They, they were demon-possessed men, and, and they, people were trying to, uh, pray for the demon-possessed men, and nothing was happening.

  469. And the Bible says that the evil spirit goes, "We know Jesus."

  470. Yes.

  471. "And we know Paul, but you ain't put in enough work for us to know you."

  472. Means that there are times when the enemy's like, "Pay no attention to them.

  473. Who are they?" Like, "Paul I know, because he is before the Father.

  474. He is putting in the work.

  475. He is paying the price.

  476. We want no part of Paul.

  477. You, who a servant? Tell us who you are.

  478. You are not even on our radar.

  479. You are not a threat to what you say your Jesus is trying to do.

  480. Like, you're not even in the running.

  481. We don't even...

  482. We throw little small stuff.

  483. Traffic gets you."

  484. Traffic throws you off.

  485. You don't come to church because it's raining.

  486. We ain't got time for you Like in this season Jesus, we know.

  487. Paul, we know.

  488. Oh, we know the people at Cityplace.

  489. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

  490. They, they, they, they don't just pray on Sundays.

  491. They don't just worship on Sundays.

  492. They are worshiping every day.

  493. We don't want no part of Jim.

  494. We can't ha- we, we, we can't do that.

  495. Like, we step towards him and his first response is worship and prayer.

  496. Can't deal with that.

  497. No, we, we don't have time.

  498. Go to someone else Like this is gonna be different Their enemies trembled all because of the hearsay of what God had done.

  499. Y'all got room for one more? Here it is.

  500. Here it is.

  501. Here it is.

  502. And then we gonna get this ice cream.

  503. 'Cause y'all ain't giving nobody no extra time up in here, man.

  504. Y'all ain't.

  505. Watch this right here.

  506. I felt like the Lord told me that what's gonna be different is that God's word is going to be confirmed, watch now, this is bold, in your face and in the face of your enemies God's word is gonna be confirmed right in front of you and right in front of your enemies David said this in Psalms 23, "You anoint my head with oil, my cup runneth over."

  507. But then he said this before that, he says, "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies."

  508. Like, if you and I would just grab hold of the word like we've been declaring in Joshua 1:9, "Be strong and courageous.

    Joshua 1:9

  509. Do not be afraid or dismayed for the Lord your God is with us wherever we go."

  510. Like, if we claim that and ask God to confirm that, we will literally walk into places we did not expect and see God show up I, if I can just be transparent, I have put so many limits on the Lord in this previous season of my life to where now he's like, "Damon, can you just give me room and space to be me?" Stand on my word, not on what you can do.

  511. Like, let me do me and you trust me I wanna challenge all of us this summer.

  512. We've got foundations class.

  513. If you wanna just grow in God's Word, that happens Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM.

  514. We all might know a few Bible scriptures, but what if we restarted the passion again? Like, men, plant yourselves in the man cave.

  515. Young adults, get involved with young adults.

  516. Married couples, jump in whenever possible.

  517. Like, let's get our health right, whatever it takes, but, like, let's go, "God, what You're asking of me, what You're putting on the inside of me, I'm all in."

  518. Confidence and boldness, the enemies are gonna run, but I'm gonna be rooted in Your Word.

  519. I'm gonna be committed.

  520. Can we sit in a place where this will be different, where we will see God's Word confirmed? And it'll happen right in front of your enemies.

  521. Can we believe that this morning, or am I just preaching to myself? Y'all, I love this s- Proverbs 16:7.

    Proverbs 16:7

  522. Thinking about Joshua chapter number 2.

  523. Watch this, it says, "When a man's ways please the Lord, it makes even his enemies to be at peace with him."

  524. What? They're in the room.

  525. They're in the house.

  526. He's like, "You know what? Your God is God.

  527. I want what you got.

  528. I am not ratting you out."

  529. This is different.

  530. Looking the enemy in the face, and the enemy's like, "You know what? We surrender."

  531. Acts chapter four, verse twenty-nine The apostles.

  532. It says, "Now, Lord, look on their threats and grant to your servants that with all boldness they may speak your word."

  533. Give us boldness that in front of every single person we can declare who you are.

  534. We're gonna continue this series.

  535. I was gonna continue it anyway.

  536. I did try to finish those blanks 'Cause I already got my, listen, I already got my Father's Day message and I can't have that plugged up No, but listen.

  537. This is gonna be different.

  538. God wants it to be different for you, but it's gonna require us trusting Him, and going all in with Him.

  539. I promise you, confidence and boldness, your enemies want nothing of your God.

  540. So let's position ourselves in God's word so that we can see God confirm His word in our face, and in the face of our enemies.

  541. Amen.

  542. Can we pray? Father, in Jesus' name, I thank you for who you are.

  543. I thank you that you are good, and you are God, and this is going to be different.

  544. Thanks for joining us.
