God’s Line in the Sand: Proverbs’ 7 Things God Hates

And now we're looking at principles from the book of Proverbs that you can build your life on.

The book of Proverbs is a book of wisdom. It's ancient wisdoms,

passed down sayings, principles.

A principle is an idea.

And in the world we're living in, we are living in a world of ideas and competing ideas.

And the problem is the people in our world have some strange ideas.

And basically it's good versus evil

or it's people don't realize it to that extent

I think but it's basically having the

if you have godly principles and godly

ideas you have the right ideas because God is love and God cares about us and

he wants the best for us and we'll talk about that a little bit tonight but

how many believe he wants the best for you amen so let's look tonight We're

going to talk tonight about things that God,

hating things that God hates.

And so, you know, believe it or not, there are some things that God hates. Amen?

There's things that He loves and things that He hates and things that He likes. So let's look.

We're going to read Proverbs 6, 16-19. These six things doth the Lord hate,

yea, seven are an abomination unto him, a proud look, a lying tongue,

hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that deviseth wicked imaginations.

Feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies,

and he that soweth discord among the brethren.

Amen. You may be seated. Thank you for standing for the word.

We understand God is a God of love, but God is a God of justice.

His love demands that he be just in dealing with us.

And so in being just, there's some things that God hates. He doesn't hate individuals.

He does hate actions, and he hates attitudes and spirits that people acquire, and they manifest.

So if you're going to live a God-centered life, anybody interested in living

a God-centered life? Let me say this now.

When you talk about that, you have to realize what that means.

A God-centered life, let's just kind of go out there, kind of expand our brain here for a minute.

When you're talking about God, you're talking about, we're talking about what they call deity.

We're not talking now about a so-called deity, like an idol or something that somebody calls a deity.

We're talking about that which is the only deity.

Okay, there's only one God. And by definition, there can only be one God.

You can't have two all-powerful anything.

Okay, because if you got two of them that are sharing power,

then neither one of them is all-powerful.

So there's only one God. So we're talking about the one God, the God of Abraham,

Isaac, and Jacob in the Old Testament, and the God that was in Christ reconciling

the world unto himself through Jesus Christ in the New Testament. Okay.

So God, now, so when you talk like this, you have to realize that this is,

you're dealing with the most powerful, perfect, loving, righteous thing that there is.

So when we say living a God-centered life, you're automatically talking about

a life that is centered on the most powerful thing there is,

the most righteous thing there is.

In other words, it's the best that there is, okay?

When you live for God, that doesn't mean you're under His rule,

which we are under His rule, but it's more than that.

It doesn't mean you're just under His thumb. It means that you have an understanding

that there is the best thing. There's the good thing. There's the right thing.

These things come from God because God loves us and he created us.

And it's just like, how many want the best for their children?

Does anybody here want the best for their children?

All right. So we must not only love what God loves, but we have to hate those things that God hates.

If we're going to live and we want to operate in this God thing,

we want to operate in this deity. Now, see, this goes way, this gets way up there.

If you want to operate with God, you're talking about that which is eternal

and that which is all powerful and that which lasts forever.

See, when you talk about dealing with God, you're not just talking about some

little made up fairy tale.

You're talking about principles and principles that you find in the word of

God that can take you through and that you can build your life on.

And that you can stand the test of time.

And when the dust settles, you can still be standing. Somebody say amen.

Amen. You don't have to end up in a bad state in life. You don't have to end

up on the street. Come on, somebody.

You don't have to do that, okay?

And when you learn that the opposite of all that, the opposite of all the junk

that you see is living for God, okay? And having an understanding of what all's involved, okay?

So tonight we're going to talk about hating the things that God hates, okay?

God has a clear message for us today, okay? The clear message, okay? And it is this.

Whoops, we're mad here. Oh, there it is. Hate what is evil.

Cling to what is good. That's pretty simple, ain't it? Yeah.

Hate what's evil and cling to what's good. That's the NIV version of the Bible.

All right. So before we look at this thing, this list in the Proverbs,

let's look at how it begins. Let's understand what he's saying.

There are six things that says, it says, there are six things that the Lord

hates, seven that are an abomination to him.

What does it mean when it says there's six things that God hates,

but yet there are seven that are an abomination, okay?

We find the seven things, but why does it say six things and then say seven?

First of all, the number seven represents completeness in the Bible, okay?

Seven throughout the Bible indicates, doesn't indicate perfection, but completeness.

In other words, God has a complete hatred of these things, okay?

Now, you all know what hatred is. You can't stand it.

It's no good, you know, and there's a lot of hate in the world that's misguided,

but God, God, in other words, God has a complete hatred for these things.

And these are the things that reveal now, here it is, the complete depravity

of humans and a total lack of godliness.

And Humpy knows that's not what God wants. He doesn't want humans to be deprived.

He doesn't want humans to live in depravity.

And ladies and gentlemen, we have seen it in our world, and especially in our

country, you are seeing depravity.

Look at, they can't, you have people that are living in the streets.

You have people that are being murdered. You have all kinds of different things.

And because the Bible says, woe to a nation that forgets God.

And we can see that God, but God doesn't want humans to be deprived or to have

a depravity in the sense of, you know, when you read some stories,

I read a story the other day, I think it was yesterday,

three teenage girls in India, something like 12, 14, 16,

their parents took their cell phones from them, and they got so,

they were so wrapped up in this all things Korean.

They get hooked up in these Korean pop bands and all this stuff.

They were really infatuated with all this stuff.

And their parents didn't like that. You know, they were seeing it on TikTok

and the phone and all that. And they took their phones from them.

Well, they're not sure if all three of them jumped off the ninth floor or if

two of them were trying to keep the other one from jumping off the ninth floor.

But all three of them got killed. And they thought that they all three were

so upset about not having their phones that they jumped off the ninth floor.

You say, how could that happen?

Because we're human and humanity without God is not good. That's just the way it is.

Now, they say the two of them, the other two might have failed trying to keep

the one. But they originally thought that all three.

But can you see that a child could be so upset because they don't have their cell phone?

You see, that's a way from, man, how many knows there's a lot more to life than a cell phone? Amen.

Praise the Lord. And, and, and boy, I don't know why we're there, but here we are.

You know, you, you look at the restaurant. I was, we were sitting at Texas Roadhouse

a while back and people crossed from us. Two guys looks like a guy and his dad.

And the one guy was sitting there and the other guy was just looking at his phone.

And I thought, dang, they ain't even talking or nothing. One guy just sitting

there doing this. The other guy just sitting there looking around.

So those types of things are not good. Sometimes I think I better move on from

that though. Praise the Lord.

Because every one of us has got a cell phone in our pocket.

Hallelujah. But, you know, Paul said, he said, all things are lawful,

but not all things are expedient.

And he said, I'm not going to be brought under the power of any of them.

You can do a lot of things. And a lot of things are okay. But you don't have

to be brought under the power of them.

You know, you ought to have to say, that's why we believe in fasting.

Every once in a while, you push your plate back and say, you ain't going to

control me. I'm going to control you.

How many knows God made us to be in control? He didn't call us to go crazy and

be all outside of what He has called us to be. Praise the Lord.

A total lack of depravity and total lack of godliness. So why would God hate

these things, you think?

Because we are his crowning creation. First of all, you did not come from a monkey.

You were created in the image of God.

Now, we could go way out there and talk about how we were created in the image of God,

And then the Bible tells us that Jesus Christ was the express image of God and

how we were made in the image of God before he actually had his human image.

But we're not going to go there tonight. That's deep stuff.

That's good stuff, though. But you were created in the image of God.

You were made in his likeness and in his image.

And what does God look like? Look in the mirror. He looks like, do you know?

And it is so powerful that there's only one God, and he is so exclusive that

every person is, there's only one of you.

Six, eight million, billion people in the world, but every one of you have a

different fingerprint.

Every one of you are a total different individual than somebody else.

That's how you're like God. There's only one of you.

And there will always just be, now, if there's twins every once in a while,

I get that. But for most part, there's only one of you.

You are made in the image of God. You know, Brother Winters used to say it like this.

He said, I might have had relatives that swung by their neck from a tree,

but never none that swung by their tail. Praise the Lord.

And see, that's another thing. That's why our world and the young people in

our world are so, I don't know what to say, so far from God and so far away from what's good.

And they run around with their pants all hanging down and they just,

you know why? They've just been told they're animals all their life.

You're just another primate. You're just an animal. You're going to live and you're going to die.

So they lose all dignity. They lose all, you know, that's why we believe in

operating on a good level, on a high level as humans.

You know, I can let my hair all grow out and let my beard all grow out.

And I go around looking like an ape if I want to look like an animal.

You know, if we don't if we don't take a bath and clean up and shave and we

look like that's why God wants us to realize we're a man. We are not just a beast.

We're not just beast. We are made in the image of God, and he loves us, okay?

He loves you. Do you understand how much God loves you?

We have to realize that God loves us.

We are the creation to which he breathed the breath of life,

and we are the creation that he laid down his life for.

Greater love than this hath no man than he that will lay down his life for his friend.

You see? Okay. Now, he knows the incredible damage that can be done to us by

sins and by these type of sins that we're talking about tonight.

That's why God hates some things, because they hurt people. That's why he don't

want certain things in your life, because it's harmful.

It's not because he just wants to be God, and he's the boss, which he is.

But he wants to keep things away from you that hurt you.

He wants to keep things out of your life that are destructive to your life.

That's the whole idea. It's not just because he wants to sit up on the throne

and throw a lightning bolt at you when you make a mistake.

He cares about you. He cares about you. And he wants what's best for you.

He wants what's best for every one of us. That's the whole, that's,

if you get that in your brain, you can understand.

He understands that there's incredible damage that can be done.

We are intended to love and serve God. And when these types of things that we're

going to talk about tonight enter into our lives, then God's plan and purpose is perverted.

God has a purpose and a plan for humanity. What did he say to Adam?

Multiply, replenish the earth, live.

See, God wants you to have a happy family. God wants you to have a good family.

He wants children to be happy. He wants husbands and wives to be happy.

Amen. He wants good things for you. He doesn't want all the bad things.

So, therefore, there are some things that he can't stand because he realizes how bad they are.

And we need to realize, and the devil, you know what he tells us?

He tells us the same lie that he told Eve.

Thou shalt not die.

That ain't no big deal. That ain't no big deal. That's not going to hurt anybody.

Well, he's still telling that lie, isn't he?

Look at the people that get involved in certain things.

And I was thinking about this the other day.

They used to call them. They used to have something when things were illegal,

before the government ran the numbers racket, before they ran the lottery,

it was illegal, you know, running numbers and that kind of thing.

So they had what is called the vice squad.

Anybody ever heard about the vice squad? Some of us older people,

some of the younger people.

You see there are things in life that if they get

a hold of you buddy they got you and

you can't get away from them i was heard on the radio the other day one of the

biggest problems we got now is the gambling addiction people now that you can

gamble on all the sports stuff and now you can bet on the games and oh that's

fun but i want to tell you what they didn't call it a vice for nothing.

That vice gets you, it's got you. How many people have died of different things

that they wish to God they'd never done them to start with?

And that's why God hates certain things, because he realizes that they can hurt you.

Now, this is interesting, because there are things that hurt us,

and we sometimes don't understand how we see things like, how do I want to explain this?

Like, We see things on a certain level, like the wisdom, like we're talking

about wisdom here in Proverbs.

We see there's a wisdom that's worldly.

It's earthly. It's devilish, the Bible says. It's man's wisdom.

It's man's way of doing things.

Oh, there's people that know how to climb the corporate ladder.

They know how to smooth talk. They know how to backpack, not backpack, back at.

They know how to patch on the back. They know how to talk. They know how to

network, and they know how to get to the top of the ladder.

But that doesn't mean that's God's wisdom.

Okay? So when we look at things that really hurt us, it might not be what we think it would be.

Let's look and see. Let's hurry up because time's moving along here.

The first saying the Bible tells us that God hates, pride goeth before destruction

and a haughty spirit before a fall.

Pride is the basis of all other sins. You hear me?

Pride is the beginning. Pride is the beginning of rebellion and the basis of disobedience.

I can do it. I don't need that. I'm smart enough to figure it out myself. Okay.

A proud look, the word pride, the word pride literally means to bring up or

exalt self, to be haughty, to be presumptuous.

Okay. It's like the devil. Pride says in its own way, I want to be equal to God.

You know, why do I have to do, you know, it's like Pharaoh. Moses said,

the Lord God says, let my people go.

And he said, who is this God? I don't know who to worry about who he is.

What are you talking about? And what do men say? There ain't no God.

What do you mean there's a God? There ain't no God.

That's foolishness to think there's a God. You surely don't believe that crazy Bible, do you?

No, I'm a man. I can figure this out on my own.

I can do it my way. I can figure it my way. You know, this God thing is crazy. You people are crazy.

The proud look is the idea that we're better than others.

During the Battle of the Wilderness of the Civil War, Union General John Sedwick

was inspecting the troops.

At one point, he came to a P-A-R-A-P-T, over which he gazed out in the direction of the enemy.

His offer suggested that this was unwise and perhaps he ought to duck while

passing out there looking around. and nonsense snapped the general.

They couldn't hit an elephant at this dist.

You get it? They couldn't hit an elephant at this dist.

He got hit right in the middle of the T, praise the Lord.

A moment later, Sedgwick fell onto the ground, fatally wounded.

You know, we need to have a lesson in humility.

We need to realize that my brain, I might be smart, but my brain is not near

as smart as God's brain, and I need to ask God to help me make every decision I make.

I need God to help me make it through life, and we need to learn how to say,

God, help me and lead me and guide me.

Sometimes we think too much of ourself.

Humans. We think we're somebody, you know, we think we're somebody.

Pharisees and Lucifer lost his position in heaven because of pride.

Isaiah 14, 13 through 15 says this, you said in your heart, I will ascend to heaven.

I will raise my throne above the stars of God.

I will sit in throne on the Mount of the assembly and on the utmost heights

of the sacred mountains. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds.

I will make myself like the most high. That's the NIV version.

It was the attitude of pride that drove Satan to try to lift himself up above

all else, including God.

Pride in its own sense says, I want to be equal with God.

And how do you say that when you don't think you need to listen to God.

You know what you're saying? I'm as smart as he is. Why do I need to listen to him?

I'm as smart as God is. Why do I need to listen to him for?

You counter pride with an opposite and more powerful virtue.

That virtue would be humility.

We went to general conference last year and Brother Bernard preached a message

and I thought, man, that was on time.

And his message was a lesson in humility.

Sometimes we think we're more than we are. And especially when you get blessed,

especially in church movements, in religious movements, we think we know all

about God. We think we know how to do everything.

We think we can make our little programs.

What do you think it is that causes people to think they can add to a move of God?

We know we want to add this. We want to, well, we need to, and I understand

there's things we can do. And I pray, God, I want to do everything I should do.

Okay. But you can't add anything to a move of God. You can't make anything better than that.

I mean, you can have great buildings. You can have great choirs,

but you know, you can't base your, you can't base your spirituality on that

because I'm going to tell you what, a beautiful choir without the anointing

of the spirit of God is just a beautiful choir.

A beautiful building without the presence of God is just a beautiful building.

That's why we need to say, God, in all of our blessing, in all of what you have

given us, we still need you, Lord.

We still want you here, Lord.

We know we can't do it on our own, God, and we want you here, praise the Lord.

We need a move of the Holy Ghost, praise the Lord. We know that we need God.

We need to say, I want to humble myself before God. How can we gain humility in our own lives?

Okay. Confess to being proud and repent. Okay.

Okay. Now, and don't take yourself too serious. Okay.

You need to be able to laugh at yourself. You need to realize that sometimes you make a mistake.

Now, let me just throw this in before we move on. There's nothing wrong with

taking pride in how you look in the good sense.

Okay? Look nice. There's nothing wrong with washing your face and combing your

hair, because how many knows that looks better?

Oh, can I get an amen that it looks better to wash your face?

Praise the Lord. I shouldn't think that'd be a hard one to get. Praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord. Okay. So you have to understand there's a balance of everything. Okay.

So this is good. I like this part. I like this part.

I like this. Harry Truman was thrust into the presidency by the death of Franklin Roosevelt.

And Sam Rayburn took him aside and said, from here on out, you're going to have

a lot of people around you.

They're going to try to put up a wall around you and they're going to cut you

off from any ideas but theirs.

They'll tell you that what a great man you are, Harry, he said,

but you and I both know you ain't.

Worst thing you can do. That's what happens to some of these entertainers.

God gets to tell them how great they are, and they start believing them.

Then they get their own little warped thing. You know, they don't want to listen

to nobody. It gets weird.

It gets weird. I like this. Compare yourself, compare yourself upward, not downward.

At how you need to be better, not like you're looking down at others that you're better than they are.

Look to how you can improve, not look down like you're already at the top because

there ain't none of us at the top.

I said, ain't none of us at the top. And sometimes you don't have to have money to be proud.

It's like the old farmer that came into the church service, had his coverall

jeans on and he stood up to testify, and he stood there, and he put his hands.

He said, I thank God that I'm not proud, and he was proud.

You can be proud wearing a pair of jeans.

You know, there's an attitude of pride. Boy, we need to realize we need God.

How many knows Mars Hill needs God? You know, there might be people running

around Mars Hill think they got it all together, but the fact of the matter is, we all need God.

This church needs God. Our families need God.

Amen. All right, let's hurry up. So the next thing, okay?

Remember this now, the words of James 4, 6, he giveth more grace,

wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but he giveth grace unto the humble.

If you want God, the way to God, the way up is down.

Humble yourself in the sight of God, and he will raise you up.

You have to realize he's God. We're not. I need him.

I don't know about you, but I totally understand I need him.

I do. I can't do it on my own. All right, let's hurry up. A lying tongue.

Now, remember, these are things that God hates now.

Abomination is like, you ever smelt burning plastic when you was a kid?

And we used to burn and hold things plastic, and when it burned, you could hear it go.

It would melt and drop, and you could hear the fire go, but you didn't want

to get that smoke in your nose because, man, it was nasty.

You see, when something is abomination to God, he hates it, man. It's nasty.

He don't want nothing to do with it. He don't want to be around it, praise the Lord.

And he understands a lying tongue. The word tongue comes from the Hebrew word,

L-A-S-H-O-W-N, Lashom.

It means an evil speaker.

Okay, it means an evil speaker, the tongue as a fork of flame.

The tongue is the most dangerous thing in the whole world.

You can create or you can tear down with your tongue.

You can create, you can make somebody have a good reputation,

or you can give somebody a bad reputation with your tongue.

Because somebody walks in the room, the guy that with you, he don't know him.

You can either say that is a great guy or watch him. He'll stab you in the back.

Shakespeare said the pen is mightier than the sword. He realized that words

can do more damage than all the armies in the world.

James said, likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body,

but it makes great boast.

Consider what great forest is set on fire by a small spark.

Tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body.

It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole person's course of his life on

fire, and itself set on fire by hell. That's pretty rough, ain't it?

I heard a message titled, That Little Red Devil Behind the Pearly White Gates,

talking about the tongue.

They said a lady came up past her. She had a way with her tongue,

and she talked, and And, you know, she was a pretty rough talker and talked bad about people.

She passed her. I don't like that tie.

And she wanted to cut his tie off. He said, stick your tongue out.

If you're going to cut my tie off, I'd like to cut your tongue off. Praise the Lord.

91%. The book, The Day in America Told the Truth, says that 91% of those surveyed

lie routinely about matters they consider trivial.

86% lie about important matters, 86% lie regularly to parents,

75% to their friends, 73% to siblings, and 69% to their spouses.

How many knows a lie can cause a lot of damage?

A lie can hinder our blessings from God.

Let's look. I want to hurry up. 59 Isaiah. Behold, The Lord's hand is not shortened,

that it cannot save, neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear.

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God,

and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

For your hands are defiled with blood, your fingers with iniquity,

your lips have spoken lies, and your tongue hath muttered perverseness.

The Amplified says, Your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with

iniquity, and your lips have spoken lies, and your tongue mutters wickedness.

None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth.

They trust in vanity, and speak lies. They conceive mischief,

and bring forth iniquity.

They hatch a cockatrice's eggs, and weave the spider's web.

He that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.

Their webs shall not become garments neither

shall they cover themselves with their works their

works are works of iniquity and the act of violence

is in their hands their feet run to evil

and they make haste to shed innocent blood their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity

wasting and destruction are in their paths the way of peace they have not they

they have not and there is no judgment in their goings they have made them crooked

paths whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.

Wow, that's pretty heavy, ain't it?

Isaiah found, Israel found themselves in a place of desiring the blessings of God.

Everybody wants the blessings of God, right?

Understanding why they had been removed from them. Because of their iniquity,

they lost their blessings.

Isaiah said it wasn't because God's arm was shortened or his ear couldn't hear,

but it was because of their iniquity.

The reminder of the passage shows us that they were guilty of hatching cockatrice eggs.

The hatching of cockatrice eggs, this is interesting, The hatching of cockatrice

eggs refers to a sin of the tongue, namely backbiting and gossip.

God's dealing with Israel is strong warning to us as to how God views sins of the tongue.

With our tongue, we can either unify or we can divide.

James says, for in many things we are offended all.

If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle

the whole body. Isaiah 59 says, so

justice as drivers is driven back and righteousness stands at a distance.

Truth has stumbled in the streets. Honesty cannot enter.

Truth is nowhere to be found and whosoever shuns evil becomes a prey.

Hates a lying tongue. God's people are honest people. Somebody say amen.

God's people tell the truth.

They're honest.

It's harder to tell the truth sometimes than it is to lie. You know why people lie? It's a lot easier.

They bring that new baby in. His face is all wrinkled up. Looks like a prune.

Oh, that's such a beautiful baby. It is a beautiful baby because it's a baby.

But they said, one man, a baby like that, he looked at it and he said,

oh, isn't that baby beautiful? And he just smiled and said, it's a baby.

You know, it's a lot harder to tell the truth than it is to lie. It's easy to lie.

It's easy to make something up that people don't know. You don't have to worry about it, you think.

Problem is, some people lie so much they forget what they said.

And what you done said, what you, You know, you got to just tell the truth.

You don't have to remember what you said.

You know, you just told the truth. All right. Now, remember,

these are things God hates now. See, pride can hurt us.

Lying people, liars can hurt you. You know what we need in politics? Honest politicians.

What we need in politics and our society and our government are men of integrity.

Men who don't lie to you. Come on, somebody. Men who tell the truth and stand for truth.

That's what we need. I got to hurry up.

It's like, you know, some people, they don't want to tell the truth.

They can't tell the truth because they might lose their following or something.

Like they asked a politician, what's your favorite color?

Brother Winters used to say, what's your favorite color? They asked a politician.

You know what he said? Plaid. Plaid. Plaid.

Plaid is, don't you? All different colors, you know. Okay.

Hands that shed innocent blood. Now, when he wrote this material,

one in four pregnancies in the United States ends in abortion.

1.7 million abortions are done annually. One eighth during the second or third trimester.

93% of the time, there's no special case.

A mother whose life is threatened to rape or incest or a child with predictions of health problems.

In other words, they just do it because they want to.

Hands that shed innocent blood. God hates abortion. Exodus 20, 13, thou shalt not kill.

Psalms 127, 3, lo, children are an heritage of the Lord and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Listen to this now. Abortion will invite God's wrath.

2 Kings 24, 3-4, Surely at the commandment of the Lord came this upon Judah,

to remove them out of his sight for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that

he did, and also for the innocent blood that he shed.

For he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, which the Lord would not pardon.

Psalms 106, 37, 38, Yea,

they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, and shed innocent

blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed

unto the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood.

Away from God, and they got involved in things, the religion and the things

of the world that they were surrounded by, and they were corrupted,

and they believed, and they started following those idols,

and that spirit got a hold of them, and they fell to the idea that if they wanted

to do better in life, they had to offer their child to this idol for them to do better.

Are you with me stay with me now another few minutes

here okay and that is

still why why do people you

know the best way not to worry about an abortion is not have sex before you

get married just don't do it you don't have to worry about it but no see they

don't want that we're back to pride now i didn't talk on about it but these

things all kind of go together there's a progression along here you see It's

pride that says, oh, no, I can't.

Don't be out there having sex before you're married, okay?

You know you're not supposed to do that, so you do that. And then when you find

out that there's going to be a baby involved, well, let's just kill the baby

because it's not, what's the word I want?

It's not advantageous for me to keep it.

For me to do this. It's about me doing this. And I see it's all about me.

And that's what Israel was doing. They were sacrificing their own kids because

they wanted something better for themselves because they were away from God.

And that's the way it is in the world.

Thou shalt not kill. Children are an heritage to the Lord. All those things.

After 18 days, the conception of the heart beats

on its own at six weeks the fetus quickly moves on

in the womb brain waves are present at eight weeks and

the child grabs swims freely and the heartbeat is measurable at 12 weeks the

baby cries sucks its thumb sleeps and wakes all organs and systems function

including mental the unborn infant can definitely feel pain from this point

on nothing new develops there's just growth and maturing.

Hands that shed innocent blood. Now that's a lot deeper than just that.

People take, kill innocent people. You know what I mean?

They just like these, I don't understand these rulers and presidents.

They just line up an army and go on into somebody, another country,

you know, and they just start killing people.

I don't, I don't quite get that. People, I don't understand why people don't, I don't know.

Okay. Hurry up. Hurry up, brother Young. Five minutes.

Okay. A heart that—now, we're talking about things that God hates.

A heart that devises wicked imaginations. The Hebrew word for devises means

something that is done in secrecy or subtility.

Basically, they're thoughts of iniquity and evil. These occur when we fulfill

our selfish and sinful desires.

For out of the heart proceedeth evil thoughts, murderers, adulteries,

fornications, thefts, false witness, and blasphemies. Men in their heart,

they devise wicked things.

At some of the movies that are out nowadays. Look around for some of the stories

that are out there nowadays.

Look around for some of the things that men create in their own evil, wicked heart.

Is that not true? Come on now. Remember, now the Bible tells me that God hates that.

That doesn't mean I'm supposed to run after it. That's telling me God hates that.

And some of these programs they come up with, just keep your eyes open and read

about some of this stuff, okay?

Feet that are swift to spread evil. This speaks of feet that move quickly,

carry out what has already been devised in the heart.

The feet have no choice because much of the body is consumed,

and ultimately, more and more of the person is consumed by these things which God hates.

The result is that we will willingly rush towards sin.

Our actions are based upon the desires of our hearts and upon the words of our tongue.

A false witness that speaketh lies. This means literally to breathe out or blow out lies.

It actually encompasses two sins of the tongue, making fictitious or totally

false statements or taking the

truth and altering it in some way so as to change the meaning entirely.

The first one spins or makes up the truth.

The other one paints it or recolors it. Never forget that it is the tongue that

is used to vocally express praise to God.

When that same tongue is used to falsely accuse, to lie about another human

being, then we have perverted its true purpose.

Such use of the tongue will hinder our pure vocal expression of worship.

Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessings and cursing my brethren.

These things ought not to be.

Doth the fountain send forth the same place sweet water and bitter?

Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries, either of vine figs?

So can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

Also, who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you?

Let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

Here, the writer correlates our proper use of the tongue to the possession of

wisdom. I'm just flying through these slides now.

I'm leaving a lot of this stuff go just to give me five more minutes.

He that soweth discord among the brethren. An abomination is something which God hates. Amen.

Is saying that all of human traits that God hates, the worst is stirring up trouble in the church.

The sin that started with the pride, the eyes, progressed through the evil words

with the tongue, then to actions through the hands,

through the intellect and the mind, then the actions to the feet and more lies

and the tongue again, until finally,

by manifesting the ultimate trait that God finds detestable,

we find that the person doing all they can to stir up dissension in the church.

By the time a person has cultivated the first six things into their lives,

they have encompassed their entire being.

All that is left for them now is to turn to someone else and try to destroy them.

Soweth, take thought, planning, action, expected result in mind.

The sower knows in the beginning what they're about to accomplish.

Here, the sower is planting seeds of discord. Discord means strife,

discontent, questioning.

God desires his people to be united, not divided.

Behold how good, how pleasant it is for brethren to well together in unity.

It is like the precious ointment upon the head ran down upon the beard,

even Aaron's beard that went down to the skirts of his garments,

as the dew of Hermon, et cetera.

And somebody just shut me down. Praise the Lord.

Must be the sign. Hallelujah.

Okay. Go ahead and give me the next one. I lost it here on my, okay.

Blessed God ties unity with good feelings among the brethren anointing and the blessings of life.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God." I've got to quit.

How can we guard against the things which God hates? Real quick.

Prayer. This is the last slide, I think. Examination, confession, commitment.

Know the word. The word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against you.

Make no compromise. Be not conformed to this world.

Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that

good and acceptable and perfect will of God, and then live by the grace of God.

Titus 11, 12, for the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to

all men, teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly,

righteously, and godly right here in this present world. Let's stand.

But don't ever forget, ladies and gentlemen, there are some things that God hates.

There are some things that God is against. The devil will tell you it ain't no big deal.

The devil will tell you it ain't no big problem. And the devil will say, thou shalt not die.

But I want to tell you, when God hates something, I don't want nothing to do with it.

If he hates it, we better leave it alone, shouldn't we?

Amen. Let's pray. Jesus, we love you tonight. Thank you for your word,

O Lord. Teach us your ways, O God.

Help us hate the things that you hate, Lord. Help us be everything you want us to be.

We appreciate you that you're doing for us, and we just ask you,

Lord, to have your way in our lives.

In Jesus' name, teach us, Lord.
