Without further ado, let's get right into it. God bless. I thought I had one
-
up here, but I don't. Hang on a second.
-
Hallelujah. Hang on just a second. He's going to bring it to me.
-
Okay. Anybody glad to be in church tonight?
-
Amen. Thank you, Daniel. I thought you had it in your hand. I got it somewhere. Acts 1 and 8.
-
Acts 1 and 8 We had a little piece
-
of technology We're losing here I don't think I put it in my pocket Nope,
-
It's just this little microphone helps you If you do it on the video it makes
-
it sound better And I don't know what I've done with it,
-
Don't get old You know what I mean Don't get old because you lose stuff,
-
I'm going to put this where I don't forget where it's at And then you forget
-
where you put it And I did that today I put that little microphone thing somewhere
-
so I'd have it. But guess what? I don't have it.
-
But anyway, Acts 1 and 8, shall we? We'll go without it. Praise the Lord.
-
Familiar scripture tonight.
-
But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you,
-
and ye shall be witnesses is unto me,
-
both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
-
And I would also like to read Ephesians 3.20.
-
I think I've got that up there. I got that. Yeah, there we go.
-
Ephesians 3.20. What did I do? I might have put the wrong one in there. Looks like I did.
-
Hallelujah. I can't blame nobody but me. You know, I'd like to be good Blame somebody, wouldn't it?
-
I can't blame nobody but me, though. All right.
-
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or
-
think, according to the power that worketh in us.
-
Amen. And I'd like to talk a little bit tonight about the power in you.
-
The power in you. Can we pray one more time? Lord, we love you.
-
Thank you for your blessings, God. You're good to us, oh, Lord.
-
Help us, Lord, as we stumble along, try to do good.
-
Amen. Lose things and put the wrong scriptures in.
-
Hallelujah. We love you, Jesus, regardless. We love you, Jesus.
-
We really do love you. Hallelujah.
-
Oh, God, we honor you tonight. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Woo.
-
Praise the Lord. Hallelujah, Jesus. Hallelujah, Jesus.
-
Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.
-
Praise God. Praise God. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.
-
Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Praise God.
-
Amen. You may be seated if you want to. Aren't
-
you glad you got the Holy ghost tonight aren't you
-
glad one day god filled you with the holy ghost tonight oh
-
yeah thank god thank god hallelujah hallelujah
-
we stress the holy ghost we stress receiving the gift of the holy ghost because
-
when you receive the holy ghost you receive something one thing you receive
-
but we're not really talking about tonight but i talked about it today at the
-
mission when you receive the holy ghost you receive the spirit of grace Peace.
-
You receive the Spirit of the Holy Ghost. In case you don't know,
-
the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
-
The Spirit of God is the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Amen.
-
Somebody say, it's all in Him. I said, it's all in Him.
-
So when you receive the Holy Ghost, you receive the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
-
And when you receive the Spirit of Jesus Christ, you are receiving the Spirit of grace.
-
And I was talking, I'm going to just kind of ease into where we're going here
-
tonight, because it all goes together.
-
When you receive the grace of God, the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Christ,
-
you receive that graciousness of God.
-
The reason the Bible says we're saved by grace, and we understand that it means
-
unmerited favor, but it means a lot more than that.
-
It's by the grace of God, the unmerited favor that comes to us from God comes
-
to us because He is gracious, because He is good.
-
I said, because He is good. Amen. man.
-
I respect the Lord, and I respect him, and I know the Bible tells us to fear
-
him, and I do fear him, but I tell you what, I know he's a good God,
-
and he cares about me, and he cares about you.
-
Praise the Lord, and he wants what's best for us. Praise the Lord.
-
He's not against us. He is for us.
-
Can I tell you, he's for you tonight?
-
I said he's for you. He's not against you tonight.
-
Praise the Lord. When you receive that grace, and I talked about it today,
-
about divine grace, that graciousness, that something that comes from God,
-
that something that he puts into our lives, and we start talking better,
-
and we start using manners, you know.
-
Anybody still believe in manners? I do. I don't know about you.
-
They need to teach them at the drive-thru, though.
-
Praise the Lord. I catch myself, they'll hand me my food, and I catch myself
-
saying thank you to them.
-
And they ought to be saying thank you for coming to Burger King.
-
Thank you for spending your money. You know that?
-
Amen. My friend Anthony told me, he said, my grandma told me that your spiritual
-
graces will take you, or not your spiritual, but your social graces will take you a long way in life.
-
Somebody appreciates it when you're gracious and you say thank you.
-
Don't you appreciate it when somebody says thank you? Don't you appreciate it
-
when somebody doesn't just barge through and knock you out of the way and they say, excuse me?
-
Isn't that better than just knocking somebody out of the way?
-
So when you receive the Spirit of Christ, you receive that grace.
-
And that grace is to be formed in us, okay?
-
And another part of that is when you receive the Holy Ghost,
-
the Bible lets us know that there is a power in you.
-
There's an ability in you. that God puts in you.
-
There's a power that comes from God. Praise the Lord. And it's just like the grace that's divine.
-
It's divine power. Praise the Lord.
-
It's divine something that comes from God that enables us to be what He wants
-
us to be. Praise the Lord.
-
Praise the Lord. He gave us, I said, there's power in you tonight.
-
I said, there's power in you tonight. I said, there's power in you tonight.
-
Amen. Don't discount the power that's in you. Amen.
-
Praise the Lord. The Bible says that the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
-
All right. The Bible also says that God has not given us this.
-
Paul told Timothy that he was not given the spirit of fear, but of love and
-
power and love and a sound mind.
-
Aren't you glad for a sound mind tonight? Praise the Lord.
-
But God has put something in us that is real.
-
Anybody believe that the Holy Ghost is real tonight?
-
Praise the Lord. Let's see Ephesians 1 and 18. Let's read this. This is so good.
-
Now, and he said, now I noticed that the scripture that got me thinking about
-
this, whereas he said, 320,
-
he said, according God, it's exceedingly abundantly can do exceedingly abundantly, not just not.
-
He doesn't say that God can do above what we can ask or think,
-
but he says exceedingly and abundantly above what we can ask or think.
-
But then he says something, and he says, according to the power that worketh in us.
-
We need to let the Holy Ghost work in us. Praise the Lord.
-
The Bible says don't quench the Spirit. Paul said forbid not to speak with tongues.
-
Paul said that he spoke with tongues more than everybody, but I want to tell
-
you it's more than just speaking in tongues.
-
When that Holy Ghost, you get that Holy Ghost, you got power.
-
I said you got power. Praise the Lord. You got ability that you didn't have before.
-
Praise the Lord, you got ability in you that you didn't have before.
-
But the part about it got me when I was thinking about this was that worketh in us.
-
You know, God is, the Lord is a gentleman, and he wants to work in our life.
-
I said he wants to work in our life, but I said he wants to work in our life,
-
but he's not going to make you do nothing.
-
He'll teach you. He'll lead you. Like they say, you can lead a horse to water,
-
but you can't make him drink.
-
I don't know about you, but if he leads me to water, I want to drink.
-
I said if he leads me to the water, just let me drink. Praise the Lord.
-
Amen. man, I want to do whatever the Spirit of God wants me to do,
-
because it's power that's working in us. Don't say you can't do it.
-
I can't do that. Well, if you've got the Holy Ghost, you can.
-
Come on, say amen. Let me find this scripture I got written down here.
-
Ephesians 1 and 18 says it like this. Paul says that the eyes of your understanding
-
be enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling and what the
-
riches of the glory of his inheritance,
-
in the saints.
-
Now, Paul's saying, I want your eyes to be open.
-
Okay. Let me flip over here and go to the verse 18 in the Amplified.
-
He said, by having the eyes of your heart flooded with light.
-
So that you can know and understand the hope to which he has called you and
-
how rich is his glorious inheritance in the saints,
-
his set-apart ones, and so that you can know and understand what is the immeasurable
-
and unlimited and surpassing greatness of his power. Hallelujah.
-
Hallelujah.
-
This is good stuff here brother young I don't care who you are he said I'm going to read that in that,
-
the King James says it like this what is
-
the riches of the glory of his he says that you may know the height the calling
-
the riches glory and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward
-
who believe according to the working of his mighty power now let's break that down a little bit.
-
What I'm getting at is don't say you can't do it because you can if you got
-
the Holy Ghost. Don't tell me you can't live right.
-
Don't tell me you can't do right. Come on, somebody. Anybody still believe the
-
Holy Ghost caused you to live right?
-
Anybody still believe the Holy Ghost caused you to talk right?
-
Praise the Lord. Brother Winters used to say, and it'll make you spit white too. Praise the Lord.
-
Amen. Anybody, you believe in the power of the Holy Ghost tonight?
-
Amen. And he said, now, listen, he said, so you can know and understand what
-
is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of his power in and
-
for us who believe as demonstrated in the working of his mighty strength.
-
Now, how powerful is that? How powerful is his power?
-
Okay. How powerful is that Holy Ghost?
-
How powerful is it? Well, here's how powerful it is, which he wrought in Christ
-
when he raised him from the dead. Hallelujah.
-
That's how much power that is working in us or should be working in us.
-
That Holy Ghost is for us to work and live and do and operate in the power of God. Praise the Lord.
-
And I'm not just talking about in signs and wonders. Maybe we need more of that. I know we do.
-
But I want to tell you, that Holy Ghost, there's power working.
-
Don't tell me you can't quit smoking.
-
Don't tell me you can't. But you know what you got to do? You got to let it work in you.
-
You got to let it get past your own mind and say, wait a minute, I got the Holy Ghost.
-
I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me. That's what Paul said.
-
I can do it all. Praise the Lord. I can do it. I can give it up if the Lord
-
helps me. I can do it. Praise the Lord.
-
We need an I can do attitude, not an I can't attitude, because he is able to do.
-
Exceedingly and abundantly above all that we can ask or think according to the
-
power that worketh in us.
-
That power that the Bible says to usward, which is what he has entrusted us
-
with or what he has committed to us.
-
When you got the Holy Ghost, you didn't get just nothing. That's not just to
-
make us feel good, which it does.
-
That Holy Ghost is more than just make goosebumps go up and down our back.
-
That Holy Ghost will give you power, the ability, praise the Lord.
-
That Holy Ghost puts strength in your ankle bones. When you can't walk right,
-
that's why God gives us the Holy Ghost, so we can have the power to do right
-
and walk right, praise the Lord.
-
There's a lot of people tonight that need the Holy Ghost.
-
There's a lot of people that like to have the Holy Ghost. And I tell you what,
-
we ought to be a group of people that's glad we've got the Holy Ghost tonight.
-
Amen, because there's power working in us.
-
Amen, there's power in us. I said there's power in us.
-
Power of God, the ability of God to perform is in us.
-
Well, you know what that means, Brother Young? That means we don't have no excuse, folks.
-
We don't have no excuse. We can't. The old timers, you know, we don't have no excuse.
-
Say, well, you know, I just have a little trouble with lying.
-
I can't help lying. Yes, you can.
-
Yes, you can. I just have a little trouble with this and a little trouble with
-
that, and that's just the way it is. Well, you better get that Holy Ghost working in you then.
-
Come on. I don't want to frustrate the grace of God, do you?
-
Amen. man, I want that Holy Ghost working. I don't want to quench the spirit
-
by saying I can't do something.
-
I want to have an attitude that says by the spirit of God, it can happen.
-
Praise the Lord. The Holy Ghost is powerful.
-
The Holy Ghost will help me overcome if I let it. I said, if I let it.
-
Ooh, praise. I thought y'all would be jumping, climbing the pews by now. Hallelujah. you.
-
No, I'm kidding.
-
Praise the Lord. I'm going to tell you, you got power in you.
-
God committed it to you. He entrusted you with it. Amen.
-
And the Bible says you shall receive power. After that, the Holy Ghost has come
-
upon you to be my witnesses.
-
Amen. You got everything we need, Peter said.
-
And I'm trying to turn to it as I'm talking. But you got everything you need
-
to be a witness for Jesus.
-
I said, you got everything. If you got the Holy Ghost, praise him.
-
And let me say, if you ain't talked in tongues for a while, it'd be good to
-
find you a place and bury your head down and pray to God and say,
-
God, fill me all over again.
-
Let me talk in tongues all over again, Lord. Let me just cry and weep and get full of that power.
-
Praise the Lord. It works in me. There's power working. I want it to work in me.
-
I said, I want it to work in me. There's power in you.
-
There's power in me. And when I pray this way, I say, Lord, I just hate talking
-
about me all the time, but I'm the only one I know as good as I know. You know what I mean?
-
And I do. I pray, say, God, I want it.
-
I'm not too worried about being rich. I'm blessed, man. I don't have,
-
ain't nothing I need. I got everything I want and need. Don't need nothing. Don't want nothing.
-
But I want to tell you something. I'm not too worried.
-
Well, I got to be honest with you. When I see them Cadillac Escalades go by,
-
I kind of like to have one of them.
-
I don't need one but boy they sure are pretty when they slide by
-
you know it's kind of like the old mighty mouse cartoon anybody remember
-
mighty mouse them cars was so long when they'd go around the corner they'd bend
-
in half you remember that they have them limos and that limo go and that limo
-
turn and the front would turn before the back and it was real long them cadillac
-
escalades slide by them sure are pretty i ain't gonna lie to you but when it's all said and done.
-
I really don't want, I mean, I, you know, I'm not really, I don't definitely
-
don't want one enough to pay for it. Praise the Lord.
-
That's a lot of money that, but so really, I got everything I need.
-
I really don't want nothing.
-
You know, I don't want to be covetous. I don't want to be covetous.
-
I don't want to, I don't want to be dissatisfied with what I have.
-
You know, one thing the Holy Ghost do, it'll give you satisfaction.
-
Amen. You can be satisfied with what you got. You don't have to be implacable and unsatisfied.
-
Some people got so much blessing, they don't know what they got,
-
and they got an attitude, always wanting more, never satisfied with what they got.
-
But I don't want to be that way. But I'll tell you what I do want.
-
I want that Holy Ghost working in me. I want that power.
-
Now, I'm not talking, I mean, now I know, I understand that,
-
you know, Jesus said, you lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. And I like that.
-
I wish my faith was greater. I get that. I want that. I mean,
-
I want to have greater faith, but I want something else.
-
I want that power that exposes itself in me through my life.
-
I want to be a real witness for him.
-
I want to be known as a Christian, don't you that's what I want I want to be
-
known as a man of God I really do and I pray that because I've been around some in my day and you have to.
-
I've been around men that had it. They had the power of God.
-
And it wasn't because they called themselves an apostle and were laying hands
-
on everybody. It's because they're abiding.
-
There was something abiding with them. And it was the power of God to be his witness.
-
I was with Brother Spall one time. I was young, just wasn't married yet.
-
This was and there was a fellowship meeting and it was at Brother Garcinet's
-
actually. before they moved over on Washington Street. That's how far back it goes.
-
And I was riding with him in the car.
-
I could take you. He was coming off 70, coming up Holt Road.
-
I can tell you exactly where we were.
-
And I was driving along. It was just quiet. He's driving. Nobody's saying nothing.
-
And all of a sudden, you know what it feels like? You know what it feels like
-
when the Holy Ghost just comes in.
-
You ever been in a service and you could just feel the Holy Ghost come in?
-
Well, we're riding in that car. And it's like Jesus got in between us or in the back seat.
-
Oh, well. And I was too backward at the time to say anything.
-
I was too, I didn't know what to say, but I knew I felt something in that car.
-
Oh, something just happened here. That's what I want. I want to,
-
when I come in, I want, you know.
-
I'm not trying. I'm not saying it to be. I'm not trying to be a big shot.
-
I'm not talking about that.
-
I'm talking about, I want that abiding power in me. Hallelujah.
-
That's working. That I might be a real witness, praise. That I might really
-
be kind. And that I might really be joyful.
-
And that I might really be happy. And I might really be nice.
-
And I might really be a good person, praise alone.
-
Don't you want to be known as a good person? Don't you want to be known as a Christian.
-
Clean, walk right, got a good attitude, got all this stuff that God has given
-
you, this power, this Holy Ghost power, this dunamis, this explosive power of God.
-
That's where they get the word dynamite. I'm telling you, when you get the Holy
-
Ghost, there's explosive power to blow out sin, get out grudges out of your
-
life, get out ugliness out of your life, get sin out of your life, hallelujah,
-
get a bad attitude out of your life, get a bad spirit out of your life,
-
put joy in your heart, put love in your heart, hallelujah, and give you what you need.
-
There is power in you, praise the Lord, and God wants it to be working, amen.
-
Hallelujah. Somebody clap your hands. Praise the Lord. I'm here to tell you, you have something.
-
If you have the Holy Ghost, you have something. Hallelujah.
-
See, we don't have no excuse. Not that we're looking for one,
-
but we don't have one because he's given us.
-
Listen to what Peter said when I wrote it down there. 2 Peter,
-
where did I write it? Praise the Lord.
-
2 Peter 1, I think. All right, let me find it.
-
Praise the Lord. I'm going to just preach my heart here and be done.
-
Praise the Lord. Get me a Diet Coke on the way. Hallelujah.
-
This Daniel calls him a gray lady. Hallelujah. Get me a gray lady. Hallelujah.
-
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy,
-
has begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ
-
from the dead to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled that fadeth not away,
-
reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto
-
salvation, ready to be revealed in the last day,
-
whereby you rejoice, greatly rejoice,
-
though now for a season, if need be, you are in heaviness through manifold temptations,
-
that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes,
-
though it be tried with fire,
-
might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
-
I want this divine power, don't you?
-
I said, I want this divine power, but there's more to it.
-
He said, the Bible says that he has given us all things that,
-
He has given us all things that pertains to life and godliness.
-
God has, when he gives you the Holy Ghost and gives you his power,
-
he gives you everything that you need to have a good life that pertain to life
-
and to godliness. That's what I want, don't you?
-
Anybody want it tonight? Come on, help me out here a minute.
-
Amen, amen, amen. Hang on, I got to find this, praise the Lord.
-
There it is. 1 Peter 1 and 3. That's what I want. What did I do?
-
I read 1 Peter. That's my problem.
-
I got a lot of problems tonight. Pray for me. Hallelujah.
-
Now, here's what I really wanted to read. According, verse 2,
-
grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,
-
according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto
-
life and godliness through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue,
-
whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises,
-
that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the
-
corruption that is in the world through lust.
-
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue and to your
-
virtue knowledge and to knowledge temperance and to temperance patience and
-
to patience godliness and to godliness through brotherly kindness and to brotherly kindness charity.
-
For if these things be in you and abound, they make you that you shall neither
-
be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
-
In other words, the power in you is what you need, praise the Lord.
-
Everything you need is in Jesus Christ.
-
Everything we need is in the spirit that God has given us. Come on,
-
somebody. I'm here to lift up the Holy Ghost.
-
I'm up here to uplift the power of Jesus Christ.
-
I'm here to tell us, hey, we can live for God. You can be saved.
-
You can make it another day. You can go forward. You can be victorious.
-
You can be more than a conqueror. You can. You can.
-
You can. Praise the Lord. I believe we can make it.
-
I said I believe we can make it. We can go forward.
-
We can keep doing it. We can live for God. You mean you tell me you can? You can.
-
I said you can. You can be clean. You can be delivered too, I believe.
-
And let me say this, sometimes we preach like this, but let me say,
-
if you've got some kind of problem or some kind of habit you think you can't
-
get over, you just keep on coming. Don't let me drive you away by the way I'm preaching.
-
But let me tell you, if you let God work in you, He'll give you the power to be an overcomer.
-
He'll give you the power. You just need, but I want to tell you, sometimes...
-
Sometimes we need to get it in us. We need to let his power work in us.
-
Let his power get in our mind because he's not going to override our mind.
-
But if we get his mind, praise the Lord, we can be an overcomer.
-
If we get it in his, if we get in tune with him and in his spirit and get our
-
spirit lined up with his spirit, you can be an overcomer. You can live for God.
-
You can be saved. Praise the Lord. You do have strength.
-
I said you do have strength. I said you do have strength. You might not feel like you do, but you do.
-
I said you do. You know we can go further than we think we can.
-
We can do more than we think we.
-
Said, there's nothing we can't do. We can go forward. We can live for God.
-
Somebody clap your hands or do something for me. Hallelujah.
-
Somebody help me out here a minute. Praise God. Well, I'm talking about the power of the Holy Ghost.
-
I said the Holy Ghost power.
-
You shall receive power. After that, the Holy Ghost has come upon you to be my witnesses.
-
Amen. You can live for God. Don't let the devil tell you I can't live for God.
-
I can't do that. I can't live like those people live. I can't dress like those
-
people dress. Yes, you can.
-
And you'll be glad to do it once you get that Holy Ghost. Hallelujah.
-
Once you get that power working in you, Jesus on the inside, working on the outside.
-
Oh, what a change in my life.
-
Hallelujah. I said Jesus on the inside.
-
He's supposed to be working in us, praise the Lord. Somebody say, let the Holy Ghost work.
-
Let the Holy Ghost work. Let the Holy Ghost work, praise the Lord.
-
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. You have power in you.
-
Hallelujah, hallelujah. Are you glad that you got power in you tonight?
-
I don't know about you, but I'm glad. I want to tell you, God can help you through.
-
You don't think you can make it, but you can.
-
I said, you don't think you can make it, but you can. You don't think you can
-
give that up, but you can.
-
You don't think you can quit that. You can. Praise the Lord.
-
I'm thinking of Richard Wilkins, thinking of Richard Wilkins.
-
He got the Holy Ghost, got the Holy Ghost.
-
Matter of fact, Richard Wilkins was the one that recommended me to come preach
-
for Brother Matthews years and years ago, first time.
-
And Richard was on drugs, on cocaine and everything, and he got the Holy Ghost.
-
And Brother Matthews went over to his house and he had his TV on and Brother
-
Matthews just kind of looked at the TV.
-
He didn't say nothing. Richard said, oh, Brother Matthews.
-
He said, oh, Brother Matthews. He said, I'm trying to give up.
-
He said, I'm trying to give up cocaine. He said, I'm getting off cocaine.
-
He said, don't make me do TV all at once too, praise God.
-
Don't ask me that, Brother Matthews. Don't ask me to do that too, Brother Matthews.
-
I'm gonna tell you what though, with the Holy Ghost, you can let everything
-
go that God wants you to let go.
-
I said, with the Holy Ghost, you can let it go, baby.
-
Well, you'd be glad to let it go. I want that tower working in me.
-
I want it flowing in me. I wanna let go of water.
-
Hallelujah. You see, I can't sell God short.
-
I can't sell his spirit short. I can't make excuses for him.
-
I can't make excuses for me. I can't make excuses. I want to be tolerant, people.
-
I want to, what's the word? Gentle, kind, loving, all those things.
-
But when it's all said and.
-
I guess you guys are all just doing like Sister Haven used to say.
-
Say, well, they're being quiet. That's because they're listening.
-
Hallelujah. I hope everybody's just listening that there's power in you.
-
And if you don't have the Holy Ghost, you can have the Holy Ghost before you leave here tonight.
-
And you can have that power in you that'll lead you and guide you into all truth.
-
It's like the Bible says the comforter. her. It's like one who comes alongside to help you.
-
That Holy Ghost is to help you. Let me go back a minute.
-
Like I said, let me say, I'm all about speaking in tongues, but I want to tell
-
you, there's more to it than that.
-
You know, we get the Holy Ghost when God's got control of our tongue.
-
Maybe we need to give him control of our hands.
-
Maybe we need to give him control of our mind.
-
Going in the drugstore, getting in my billfold and buying a fifth of Jack Daniels.
-
He don't want me going in a store, sticking my hand in my pocket and pulling
-
my money out and buying something he don't want me to have.
-
And I say, well, I can't. Oh, come on now. The power's in you.
-
This is not me tonight. This is what God says. There's power in you tonight.
-
I said, there's power in you tonight. But you need to let God cultivate it.
-
Let God work in there. Let God get you.
-
You know how you build up your most holy faith? Praying in the Holy Ghost.
-
You know, sometimes we need, you know what? We have problems sometimes.
-
We need to get a, I'm just going to preach here. We need to find a place of
-
prayer and stay there till we pray through. Praise the Lord.
-
Man, you guys are quiet on me tonight. Hallelujah.
-
Brother Gary Keller said he was young and the pastor, every time somebody would
-
come to the pastor and they'd talk about something and the pastor would say,
-
the pastor would tell them, pastor would just tell them, you need to pray through.
-
You need to pray through. And Brother Keller, he was a young preacher and he'd
-
say, when I become a pastor, I'm going to have a better answer than that.
-
You know? So he became a pastor and he started reading books and he wanted to,
-
and people would come and he'd try to get the answer out of a textbook,
-
you know, and try to have a better answer.
-
But you know what he said? He said, after pastoring for a while and people come
-
to him with their problems, he said, I just told him, you need to pray through. Hallelujah.
-
Need to pray through. That's all there is to it. You got a problem.
-
You got a situation you can't handle.
-
How about just finding a place and praying in the power of the Holy Ghost? Praise the Lord.
-
Just letting that power loose, praise God, in your mind, in your heart,
-
in the limb. Let it shake you. Let it do whatever it wants to do.
-
Hallelujah. That's why the Holy Ghost moves. It shakes us. It quakes us. It does things.
-
And that might look foolish, but I want to tell you, when that Holy Ghost is moving.
-
Now, there's more to it than just a shout. I understand that.
-
But I want to tell you, when it's doing and the Holy Ghost is working like it
-
should, there's a shout.
-
There's a moving of the Holy Ghost. But when you get done shouting,
-
when you come down off that mountain, you're going to walk right. Hallelujah.
-
You're going to walk straight. Praise God. You're going to do ways and do things
-
God wants you to do, because that's what the power is all about.
-
It's not just power to jump up and down. It's not power just to shout.
-
It's not power just to talk in tongue. It's not power just for that.
-
It's the power to really be his witness.
-
Let's raise our hand right now. Say, Lord, stir up the power in me.
-
Come on now, everybody. Stir up the power in me, Lord.
-
Stir it up, God. Stir up the power. Hallelujah.
-
Come on, saints. Well, you say, well, this power of drugs and homelessness and all this stuff.
-
That spirit is strong in Mars Hill and there ain't nothing we can do.
-
Things. Let's come against them. Let's work the power that's in us. Hallelujah.
-
Let's put it to work. Let's believe. Does anybody believe God's able tonight?
-
Does anybody believe God's got power? Does anybody believe he can make a,
-
he can do anything that needs to be done?
-
Well, but it's according to the power that works in us. Hallelujah.
-
This one's been cooking for a couple of days. Okay.
-
Paul told the Colossians, He says, for this cause, we also,
-
since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you and to desire that you
-
be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding,
-
that you might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing,
-
being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.
-
Ready? Strengthened with all might,
-
according to his glorious power unto all patience and long suffering with joyfulness.
-
Don't say you can't be patient. Oh, yes, you can.
-
I can't put up with yeah, you can.
-
I can't get over my attitude. Yes, you can. Now, listen to this.
-
Power unto all patience, long-suffering with joyfulness. I got to read this in Amplified.
-
You'll have to excuse me, but you don't have to excuse me because I'm going
-
to read it anyway. Praise the Lord.
-
That you walk, live, and conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the Lord,
-
fully pleasing to Him and desiring to please him in all things.
-
Do you have a desire to please him in all things? I do.
-
You do too, or you wouldn't be here.
-
Okay. Bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing and increasing in
-
and by the knowledge of God with fuller,
-
deeper, clearer insight, acquaintance and
-
recognition we pray that you may be invigorated and strengthened with all power
-
according to the might of his glory to exercise every kind of endurance and
-
patience perseverance forbearance with joy hallelujah,
-
If we say we can't do it, we're saying God can't do it.
-
Because the Bible's telling Paul saying, I want you to know,
-
I want you to understand that you can have the power of God in you,
-
and you can live right, and you can do right, and you can walk with the right attitude.
-
You don't have to get mad and cuss somebody out every time somebody pull in front of you.
-
You don't have to have road rage. I'll never forget.
-
I just got the Holy Ghost. I mean, weeks, and I'm driving, and I was going to
-
take the route over to go to Lafayette, and there was a young guy that, we was buddies.
-
We used to go drinking together and everything, and, you know,
-
I was just young, and I just got the Holy Ghost, and I was waiting on traffic.
-
I was driving the truck, and he was sitting over here, and I was driving the
-
truck, and the traffic, we just had to wait and wait and wait,
-
and I was just chilling out.
-
I just got the Holy Ghost. The traffic wasn't bothering me none.
-
Had him all shook up you know come on i was these people come on come on come
-
on come on come on i'm just chilling out you know you get the holy ghost you
-
can just chill out let everybody else be all upset you just chill out i'm just
-
chilling out he said i don't understand he said i don't understand why you're not getting upset,
-
young, just got the Holy Ghost, and I just looked at him and said,
-
that's what the Holy Ghost will do for you.
-
I was just young enough in the Lord that didn't know what else to say.
-
That's what the Holy Ghost will do for you. We don't have to go through life
-
all worried, all impatient, all tore up, our spirit all upset,
-
all impatient, and all that.
-
We can rest in the Holy Ghost. We can rest in that power that's in you.
-
I'm preaching about the power in you tonight.
-
I'm trying to tell you, you got the power. You got it.
-
If you got the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues, if you spoke in tongues,
-
you got the Holy Ghost. Come on.
-
Now, I better not go down that road. I started to go down that way.
-
You know, you can't always follow every rabbit trail, I guess.
-
But you know what? If you speak in tongues, you got the Holy Ghost.
-
That means you can live for God.
-
Now, it's good to talk in tongues every chance you can. But the Bible says the
-
Holy Ghost is the initial evidence of receiving the Holy Ghost.
-
You know what the real evidence of receiving the Holy Ghost is? The fruit of the Spirit.
-
Is that Holy Ghost, that power in you, is it growing? What do you call it that
-
goes up in the sap in a tree?
-
If that tree don't have no sap, it ain't going to grow. If that tree ain't got
-
no sap coming up in there, it ain't going to bear no fruit.
-
Okay? But I'm going to tell you, the sap that God puts in an apple tree to produce apples works.
-
An apple origin and right at the end of summer they got so many
-
apples they don't know what to do with them they got apples
-
laying everywhere why because god put the power of
-
the apple in the apple tree and god puts
-
the power of what we need in us when he gives us the holy ghost amen the fruit
-
of the spirit love joy peace patience long suffering all those good things are
-
in us i don't know about you but i'm glad about it as music comes that's what
-
i want i don't want to be rich.
-
I just want to be known as a Christian, somebody that's long-suffering,
-
somebody that's patient.
-
Now, you pray for me, because I've been married 43 years, and I have found out
-
it's easier to lose patience with your husband than it is anybody or your wife.
-
Sometimes we get upset, and we say things to our wives or our spouses that we
-
wouldn't say to nobody else.
-
Somebody give me an amen on that. Come on now.
-
I told you I don't want to do that. Ring, ring, ring. Oh, hello.
-
Praise the Lord, Brother Matthews. Sure, I'll preach for you.
-
But I'm glad we got power in us tonight. Come on, folks.
-
Let's don't go down. Let's go around downcast. Let's don't go around saying we can't have revival.
-
Let's don't go around saying it can't be broken. The powers of darkness can
-
be broken by the power of the Lord. Come on, somebody.
-
Amen. When he gave us the Holy Ghost, he brought us out of darkness and put
-
us into his kingdom and brought us into the kingdom of his marvelous light. Praise the Lord.
-
He broke the power. He can still break the power of darkness.
-
I said he can still break the power of darkness. The power of light is greater
-
than the power of darkness.
-
So? You can have a dark room. You can have a pitch black room,
-
and you light one little match, one little flick of the bick,
-
light up to everything. Amen.
-
Let's raise your hands tonight and say, Lord, work in me tonight.
-
Oh, let us get a hold of it. You see, Paul noticed.
-
He prayed. He said, this is what I'm asking for. This is what I want you to understand.
-
I want you to get a hold of this, that there's something working in you. Hallelujah.
-
There's something in you. Hallelujah.
-
God put it in you. You shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you.
-
And you shall be witnesses unto me, not just talking, but by your walking and
-
by your living and by your spirit and your attitude.
-
Hallelujah. Anybody want to pray tonight? Let's open the altar.
-
Anybody want the Holy Ghost tonight? You say, I got an attitude problem. I got a spirit problem.
-
I say things I shouldn't say, and I really don't want to say them.
-
You just need to ask God to give you the Holy Ghost.
-
You need to ask God to help you overcome because he can.
-
Anybody got something you're struggling with tonight? You'd like to say,
-
Lord, I need to overcome. I need to be an overcomer.
-
And Lord, I realize you have the power to do all things. There's not anything you can't do, Lord.
-
Help me not to make excuses. Help me to lean on your power.
-
Help me to lean on your power.
-
Because the power is in me.
-
According to the power that worketh in us.
-
Let's let it work, saints. Go ahead and start the music. Let's let it work. Hallelujah.
-
Hallelujah, Jesus. Hallelujah, Jesus.
-
