  1. This is Ronald Hopkins, and thank you for joining the Life Center Church.

  2. When we live this certain way, then he's glorified out of our lives.

  3. And so, this new series that we've started is the benefits of holiness.

  4. This has been a misunderstanding in the body of Christ because holiness is not a denomination.

  5. Holiness has nothing to do, per se, with the clothes that you wear, although your clothes should not reveal things that should not be revealed.

  6. Oh, I think I'm in the right place today.

  7. And so God is desiring before he returns that his church lives a certain way.

  8. Because as we saw last week, when you are not willing to live holy, you cannot say that you can experience the presence of God in your midst.

  9. Because God does not dwell among unholy vessels.

  10. So this is part two, and today we're going to talk about something that you don't hear a lot in churches.

  11. That's why the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, for many parts of the church, I can say that because of 24 years in ministry, not just being in Michigan, but all across the states, you sometimes cannot tell the difference between a Christian and an unbeliever.

  12. And that should not be the case.

  13. It should be a separation for those who said that Jesus saved them.

  14. Jesus delivered them from something.

  15. It should be.

  16. Because the church of the Lord Jesus Christ is on this border where we still believe we can play around with sin and not realize that there's a paycheck for how you live.

  17. Including sin.

  18. And so the church doesn't talk about sin because the church doesn't want to offend people.

  19. When you look at the scriptures, Jesus offended a whole bunch of folks.

  20. Jesus was calling people snakes, dogs, and vipers.

  21. He didn't care about how you felt.

  22. What he cared about is you growing in your relationship with God.

  23. So throughout this series, there may be some things that Holy Spirit will say that will offend you.

  24. It's to grow you up.

  25. So today it might be a little strong.

  26. We can have it.

  27. We can have it.

  28. We want to grow.

  29. We want to grow.

  30. Alright, let's get into it.

  31. 1 Peter chapter 1.

    1 Peter 1 chapter mention

  32. Yes, sir.

  33. Same word, sir.

  34. Okay, that's all I need to hear.

  35. Alright, 1 Peter chapter 1, verse number 15.

    1 Peter 1 chapter mention

  36. It says, but now you must notice, you must, you must.

  37. You must.

  38. You must be holy.

  39. That's not a suggestion.

  40. That's a commandment.

  41. You must be holy.

  42. And everything.

  43. Everything.

  44. Not some things.

  45. And everything.

  46. So everything that we do, everything that we say, everything that we watch, everything that we wear, the folks that you hang around.

  47. They should demonstrate a certain lifestyle.

  48. And if you're not willing to hang around people who are living this kind of lifestyle, you put yourself in dangerous ground.

  49. Just as God, who chose you, is holy, so God is holy, so therefore he is expecting us to live a holy lifestyle.

  50. For the scriptures say, you must be holy because I am holy.

  51. Now, nothing is going to work in your life when sin is enthroned.

  52. We're not talking about you making a mistake today.

  53. Because there's no perfect person that's walking here in the earth.

  54. We're not talking about making mistakes.

  55. We're talking about sin being enthroned in your life.

  56. Now, this word enthrone means you give authority to it.

  57. It means that certain behaviors are controlling your life.

  58. When you get to the place where you say, I cannot stop smoking, sin is controlling your life.

  59. Because you didn't come out of your mother's womb smoking weed.

  60. You didn't come out of your mother's womb with the taste of nicotine.

  61. Sin is controlling your behavior.

  62. Didn't I tell you it was gonna come out strong today?

  63. Nothing is going to work right in your life when sin has control in your life.

  64. Your body is not gonna work right.

  65. Your body was never meant for alcohol.

  66. Yeah.

  67. Yeah.

  68. These little habits that you have that are separating you from God, let's call it what it is.

  69. Let's call it sin.

  70. Because the church of the Lord Jesus Christ doesn't want to talk about sin.

  71. Because the church and the church are called out ones.

  72. It's not a building, it's those that have been called out.

  73. We want to hide.

  74. And we think it's okay to live like this, but God is not pleased with our behavior.

  75. I'm gonna let that kind of sit in for a minute because you think you're okay, but notice God is watching everything.

  76. And recording.

  77. Everything that you do, everything that you say, every motive that's in your heart, the things that you didn't say, but it's wrong in here.

  78. God sees it all.

  79. He sees the bad seeds that you sow.

  80. He sees the manipulation that you're doing.

  81. He sees when you're talking about people behind their back, God sees everything.

  82. There is nothing that you can do, no place that you can hide that God is not paying attention to everything that you're doing.

  83. Now, when your convictions of things become weak over time, sin is running your life.

  84. When sin is dictating your responses, then there's someone in control and it's not you.

  85. So before we get into this, let's start here with the definition of sin.

  86. Go to 1 John chapter 3.

    1 John 3 chapter mention

  87. We know a baseline definition that most people understand about sin, it's missing the mark.

  88. Most people understand that.

  89. But I'm gonna give you some more to help you understand what sin actually is.

  90. So 1 John chapter 3, verse number 4.

    1 John 3 chapter mention

  91. Whosoever committeth, notice there's a TH.

  92. That means you are habitually living in a lifestyle of sin.

  93. Even though you're born again.

  94. I said this before and it bears repeating.

  95. The church of the Lord Jesus Christ isn't filled with people who don't know the Lord, it's filled with people who are in a backslidden condition.

  96. So the Bible says, whoever commits sin, transgress also the law.

  97. For sin is the transgression of the law.

  98. Let me just say it this way: when an individual makes a decision to miss the mark or they cooperate with sin, there's one word that comes to mind rebellion.

  99. So when a person is making a decision to sin against God, you have now entered into a state of rebellion.

  100. Now, we have an issue when our children rebel.

  101. Okay, let me just maybe I talk to my son today.

  102. When you give your child instructions and they don't obey.

  103. Anybody, when you were younger, you already know.

  104. You got your butt toe up.

  105. So, first definition is sin is rebellion.

  106. You have crossed the line.

  107. The line is in the middle, but you on one side.

  108. Go to James chapter four.

  109. Sin is willful.

  110. It's willful independence of God.

  111. You are willfully making a decision to go against something that God said you should not do.

  112. And you're willfully doing that.

  113. One thing that God will never override is your will.

  114. If you have a will to bust hell wide open, it's not the plan of God.

  115. He will allow you to.

  116. James chapter 4, verse number 17.

    James 4 chapter mention

  117. It says, Therefore, to him that knoweth to do good.

  118. And the person doesn't do it.

  119. The Bible makes it plain.

  120. When you know what to do, when you know to do what's right, and you refuse to do the right thing, the Bible just said you entered into a state of you're rebelling against God.

  121. It's sin.

  122. To know to do what's right, and then you just refuse to do it.

  123. You just miss the mark.

  124. There's something that's called the sin of neglect.

  125. And the sin of neglect creates a carelessness or a disregard to something or someone.

  126. So the sin of neglect can be something as simple.

  127. You know to pray, but you don't get up.

  128. Because the Lord will wake you up with an assignment.

  129. So now when you don't get up, you just enter into the sin of carelessness.

  130. You didn't think that was important, so you stayed in the bed.

  131. Neglect.

  132. Watch this.

  133. You neglect spending time with your spouse.

  134. A careless disregard for someone else because it was all about you.

  135. You neglected to spend time with your kids.

  136. Instead, you gave them a tablet or you gave them your phone.

  137. Because you wanted to shut them up, so you didn't want to spend time with them.

  138. And then when they grow up and being a hellion, now you want to pray.

  139. But you neglected to spend time to discipline them when they needed to be disciplined.

  140. And now you want to get upset and now you want to pray, God.

  141. Save my sin.

  142. No, no.

  143. You neglected to spend that time.

  144. That's why the Bible says train a child.

  145. And the way they should go.

  146. And when they get older, they won't depart from that way.

  147. Well, you neglected to spend that time with them.

  148. So they act a certain way.

  149. And now you're upset.

  150. The sin of neglect.

  151. There's also something that's called the sin of delay.

  152. That's called, somebody say procrastination.

  153. And watch this.

  154. When you delay, it prevents opportunities.

  155. When you procrastinate.

  156. When you procrastinate, it produces an inability to advance spiritually.

  157. Remember, it's not partial obedience.

  158. You realize Saul lost his kingdom?

  159. You know why?

  160. Not because of he didn't hear, he heard completely.

  161. He lost his kingdom and God gave him because he refused to obey everything.

  162. Not some things.

  163. God is not asking you to obey in certain areas.

  164. No, he's asking you to obey in all areas.

  165. So you mean to tell me you can lose what God has given to you when you don't obey?

  166. Total obedience.

  167. If he's telling you, I heard that.

  168. Cut the sugar out.

  169. He doesn't just mean on one day.

  170. I'm just going to not eat sugar on Sunday, but I'm going to pick it up on Friday.

  171. Because it's at the end of no, no.

  172. Total obedience.

  173. Then, of course, we know this one, it's the sin of disobedience.

  174. It's knowing what God said and then choosing to do something else.

  175. And you know what I found is difficult to walk in authority when you are disobedient.

  176. It's difficult to deal with symptoms of sickness or disease in your physical body when you're disobedient.

  177. God's people, and God wants God's people well.

  178. That is the plan of God.

  179. But if you're putting things in your body, how can God heal you?

  180. Things that don't belong.

  181. But you want to be well.

  182. It is God's will that you walk in prosperity.

  183. But if you're still tipping and you sipping and you're not providing or you're not giving, how can God provide for you?

  184. Told you to get ready.

  185. See, you can look right externally, but internally be all messed up.

  186. So let me sum all of this up.

  187. I think they'll put this on the screen.

  188. Sin is any thought, attitude, or action that misses God's standard, breaks his law, or rejects what is right flowing, here's the key.

  189. From a heart that chooses its own way over God's.

  190. So making a decision to choose your way as opposed to submitting and surrendering to the ways of God, to the plans of God, to the word of God, is sin.

  191. And you can sin in your thinking.

  192. Because your thinking could be wrong.

  193. That's what you call a carnally minded Christian.

  194. You love God with all your heart, but your thinking is off.

  195. Wrong thoughts.

  196. Because if you have wrong thoughts, you have wrong words.

  197. And if you have wrong words, your actions will be wrong.

  198. Now, there are three dimensions of sin.

  199. Three different dimensions that I'm gonna give you today.

  200. Point number one.

  201. Sin is not a friend, it's an enemy.

  202. Thank you, Mr.

  203. Hopkins, for coming in right on time.

  204. Now, number one.

  205. It's deceptive.

  206. It's deceptive.

  207. Its job is to convince you that it's okay.

  208. It's okay to have premature sex to somebody you're not married to.

  209. It's okay.

  210. Because you know that that's what men do.

  211. We try something on before you make a commitment.

  212. And if it doesn't work, I can just bail out.

  213. Its job is to convince you that it's okay to play a little.

  214. It's okay to take a sip here.

  215. A drink here.

  216. It's okay to use your mouth to hurt people.

  217. It's okay.

  218. Its job is to convince you to deceive you that it's alright.

  219. Why?

  220. Because everybody's doing it.

  221. Which you don't know to paycheck.

  222. Now go to Hebrews 13.

  223. Hebrews 3.

  224. Verse number 13.

  225. It says, you must warn each other every day.

  226. While it is still today.

  227. Very strong.

  228. So that none of you will be deceived by sin and harden against God.

  229. Notice the instructions.

  230. We should warn people every single day.

  231. We should tell people every day don't play around with sin.

  232. It'll get you to a place where you have no longer no more convictions about the things of God because you say it's okay like God understands.

  233. That's a lie from the p God knows my heart.

  234. He's trying to protect your heart.

  235. Because out of your heart flow the issues.

  236. The reason why you have the issues that you have right now is because you've given your heart over to some stuff that you probably should have.

  237. And now, because of that, you now have issues.

  238. So your heart is the issue.

  239. Who have you given your heart to prematurely?

  240. What's the reason that you can do that?

  241. Because sin, when you play around with it, it will harden your heart.

  242. It'll convince you that you would believe that God is God is okay with me living like this.

  243. So now you'll be in a spot or you'll be stuck in that sin nature forever.

  244. And living like it's okay.

  245. That nobody can tell me how I'm supposed to live.

  246. Why?

  247. Because now your heart is hardened.

  248. You're not even trying to hear, and only inside you know you're wrong.

  249. But you ain't trying to hear nothing nobody's saying.

  250. And I know that wasn't proper English.

  251. Now, let's go to Genesis chapter 3.

    Genesis 3 chapter mention

  252. Very familiar text.

  253. Something that we can learn from Adam and Eve.

  254. Because if we don't learn from the examples that are in the word, we can find ourselves making the same mistakes.

  255. And yet we don't have to.

  256. Genesis chapter 3, verse number 1.

    Genesis 3 chapter mention

  257. It says, The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made.

  258. One day he asked the woman, he always will come with a question.

  259. Did God really say you must not eat from any of the trees in the garden?

  260. Notice there's a question mark.

  261. Now she's getting ready to entertain someone that she didn't realize she had authority over.

  262. See, every sin begins with a lie.

  263. The issue is you may not know the difference between the lie and the truth.

  264. Because when you don't know the difference between the lie and the truth, instead of receiving the truth, you believe the lie.

  265. And now you just exercise your faith in something that's not true.

  266. And now the enemy has you on lockdown.

  267. Sin never gives you the full picture.

  268. Come on, sir.

  269. So good.

  270. If you knew the full picture, you probably wouldn't get involved.

  271. It's never going to give you the full picture.

  272. That's why you don't make decisions until you've clearly heard from God.

  273. Some of you have made and are getting ready to make a decision that you have not heard from God.

  274. You can be setting yourself up for something that God didn't call you to do.

  275. Okay.

  276. I had a dream.

  277. No, this is literally, this has been show you the frequency of how this has been happening.

  278. Last Saturday, the Lord has been, every time that that I say something, the Lord then gives me a dream.

  279. He gave me one this morning.

  280. Mindful.

  281. I am not going to give the specific details, but I believe this will help you.

  282. In the dream, the Lord took me to a particular place.

  283. And in the dream, in the beginning of the dream, someone asked me to help them do something.

  284. And at first, in the dream, I said no.

  285. But then I said, Well, you know what?

  286. Nobody else is helping.

  287. Let me help you.

  288. And in the dream, the Lord takes me or shows me a particular place where this individual needed help.

  289. And in this particular place, it wasn't a good place.

  290. Then in the same dream, it was almost as though I was translated to another part of a dream.

  291. And in that dream, I saw another individual that I had known.

  292. And that individual began to tell me about that particular place.

  293. And I said, wow, the difference between the two is night and day.

  294. Let me speed up the translation of the dream.

  295. The interpretation of the dream that the Lord gave me is it will be very dangerous for you to go back and do things that you used to do, although it was not sin.

  296. Let me give you context of that.

  297. I said, because when I work out, depending upon what time it is, I either listen to gospel music.

  298. Yes, yes, yes, yes.

  299. Or some teaching.

  300. I just pulled up some teaching that I used to listen to that was good.

  301. Hello.

  302. Pastor Turnbull said this.

  303. He said, uh, if Satan cannot tempt you with bad, he'll tempt you with good.

  304. And I just kind of like, yeah, yeah, okay, all right, all right.

  305. What I was listening to wasn't bad.

  306. But what I've been eating, it's much at a higher level.

  307. So if I went back to what I have known or what was comfortable, this is what the Lord said in the dream.

  308. I will not be with you.

  309. See, it's very dangerous to go back to what's comfortable.

  310. You need to think twice about going back because it's what you've always done.

  311. It's what you're comfortable.

  312. God doesn't care about you being uncomfortable.

  313. What I've learned with the things of God, He wants you to be uncomfortable.

  314. Because when you're uncomfortable, that is the time where you now can grow.

  315. See, there are many people, and I'm gonna say it because I'm I'm out here now.

  316. There are many people that are at various churches that that is not the place where the Lord wanted them to be at.

  317. You're comfortable, but you're not growing.

  318. And you're familiar, and you have friends, but they stuck too.

  319. You know what that's called?

  320. A soul tie.

  321. Your soul is tied to that church, and now the Lord is designed to elevate your life, but you willfully make a decision not to leave.

  322. Many people are like that, and you're stuck.

  323. And so your life is stuck, and your mind is stuck, and your money is stuck, and you have no freedom in your life.

  324. That's bondage.

  325. Yeah.

  326. Uh-huh.

  327. Uh-huh.

  328. Good teaching, sir.

  329. Of course, we may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, the woman replied.

  330. It's only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat.

  331. God said, You must not eat of it or even touch it.

  332. If you do, you will die.

  333. You won't die, the serpent replied to the woman.

  334. God knows that your eyes will be open as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.

  335. See, one thing about sin, it will hide the consequences.

  336. Notice, Eve saw what looked good, but she didn't see what would destroy her.

  337. It makes something that's dangerous look safe.

  338. It makes a lie feel like it's right.

  339. Like I'm not gonna say this because, and you know on the inside, just tell the truth.

  340. But if they probably couldn't handle it if I just keep it from them.

  341. See, sin will excite you before it will expose you.

  342. You get excited about it.

  343. Then later on, you get exposed.

  344. Now watch this, because here is the result of sin.

  345. Verse number seven.

  346. At that moment, their eyes were open, and they suddenly felt key word, shame.

  347. That the fact that they were naked.

  348. They were naked before that.

  349. So they sew fig leaves together to cover themselves.

  350. Shame made them hide, shame made them prideful, shame made them feel unworthy, and shame changed their identification because where they were located, they were located in the presence of God.

  351. So they changed their position because of sin.

  352. It's very dangerous.

  353. Number two, sin offers temporary pleasure.

  354. It's temporary.

  355. Maybe thirty seconds.

  356. Maybe a minute, two minutes.

  357. Might be a year, might not be a year.

  358. It's temporary.

  359. Hebrews chapter 11, verse number 24, it says, It was by faith that Moses, when he grew up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter.

    Hebrews 11 chapter mention

  360. He chose to share the oppression of God's people instead of enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin.

  361. He thought it was better to suffer for the sake of Christ.

  362. Man, he thought it was better to suffer for the sake of Christ.

  363. He thought it was better to suffer for the sake of Christ.

  364. He thought it was better to identify with the Lord Jesus Christ rather than to experience the pleasures of the world.

  365. Notice where his focus was at.

  366. He was looking beyond the natural.

  367. And that was the Old Testament.

  368. Sin will appear or appeal to what you feel.

  369. It'll make you feel good.

  370. It will excite your emotions.

  371. Listen to this.

  372. It never starts with pain, but with pleasure.

  373. So the end of sin is pain.

  374. But it starts with pleasure.

  375. Let me say that again.

  376. Because pain may not necessarily be physical.

  377. Your emotions could be damaged.

  378. Your memory is constantly reminded about what they did to you that hurt you.

  379. It started with pleasure.

  380. You thought he was good to you.

  381. But because there was no covenant, it ended with a broken heart.

  382. And one thing about sin is sin is always convenient.

  383. That should tell you something right there.

  384. If it's that easy, something is wrong.

  385. If it's easy to go to the corner store.

  386. Why is it now legal?

  387. It's easy.

  388. It's convenient.

  389. Yeah, I know I'm stepping on y'all toes.

  390. It's love, though.

  391. It's love.

  392. What you enjoy today will enslave you tomorrow.

  393. Go to 2 Samuel chapter 11.

    2 Samuel 11 chapter mention

  394. Sin is dangerous.

  395. 2 Samuel chapter 11, verse number 1.

    2 Samuel 11 chapter mention

  396. It says, in the spring of the year when kings normally go out to war, David, somebody say David.

  397. David sent Joab and the Israelite army to fight the Amorites.

  398. Notice, this is what the kings would do.

  399. The kings would go out and the kings would fight.

  400. But David did something different.

  401. David, the Bible says, he stayed behind.

  402. Verse number two.

  403. Late one afternoon, after his midday rest, David got out of his bed and was walking on the roof of the palace.

  404. As he looked out over the city, he noticed a woman of unusual beauty.

  405. She was taking a bath.

  406. So David was watching somebody.

  407. What are you doing with your time?

  408. See, it's interesting about this thing called internet and social media and AI.

  409. They're watching you.

  410. They pay attention.

  411. It can be used to glorify God.

  412. But it can also be used to trap you.

  413. So they're watching your pattern of behavior, and what are you always looking at?

  414. Are you always looking at, I'll just use me.

  415. Are you always looking at gym shoes?

  416. Because you know I'm gonna have on a new pair every every Sunday.

  417. So if I'm looking at gym shoes, what do you think is gonna be in my feed?

  418. Gym shoes.

  419. If I'm looking at basketball highlights, what do you think is gonna be in my feed?

  420. Basketball highlights.

  421. If I'm looking at X-rated women, what do you think is gonna be in my feed?

  422. Idle time will give opportunities for the enemy to tempt you.

  423. You have to pay attention to what you are giving attention to.

  424. Notice what David did.

  425. He sent someone to find out who she was and was told she's Belsheba, the daughter of Elam, the wife of Uriah, some married woman.

  426. See, if sin isn't put in check, it'll have no boundaries.

  427. It was going to feed his desire.

  428. Regardless of somebody else.

  429. See, you you gotta understand when you read the rest of this story, the end result of sin is destruction.

  430. Because one sin will always lead to another sin.

  431. It never stops.

  432. Let me say that again.

  433. One sin will always lead to another sin.

  434. He committed the sin of adultery.

  435. That adultery led to deception.

  436. That deception led to manipulation.

  437. That manipulation led to murder.

  438. You keep playing with sin.

  439. You think that you're in control.

  440. No, it's controlling you.

  441. Sin will give you a thrill, but one day you're gonna have a bill.

  442. And if you go and you read this, you will see that sin for a moment it was seasonal.

  443. It went from seasonal, listen to me, to generational.

  444. Go back and read the story because what you will find happened, the sin that he committed in his life, it started in his children.

  445. So you have to be mindful of how you live.

  446. Because how you live doesn't just affect you.

  447. And then your kids end up falling into the same sin that you started in.

  448. It's a generational curse.

  449. So you have a woman, for example, that got pregnant premature.

  450. Then all of a sudden, now she has a baby.

  451. Her baby has a baby.

  452. And the father is nowhere in the place.

  453. Let me give you another example.

  454. You can start with alcoholism.

  455. And now you started off, or somebody in your family started off, and they did not break the sin.

  456. It's now passed down upon the children and the children and the children.

  457. So how you live your life, it is important to you and to the generation behind you.

  458. See, some of you have been praying for your children, but it's not prayer that's needed.

  459. That's why it's not working.

  460. There are legal, spiritual laws that we have no understanding of because the church has not been.

  461. God is a very legal being.

  462. Very legal being.

  463. And if we don't understand these spiritual laws, you can live your entire life strapped in bondage.

  464. That's right.

  465. Demons, oh Lord, demons have a legal right to stay if you don't kick them out.

  466. If you want them to stay, they will stay in you.

  467. Even though you're a born-again believer, they won't stay in your spirit.

  468. They'll stay in your soul, your mind, your will, your emotion, and your physical body.

  469. There are demons, yes, I'm talking to you today.

  470. That is controlling sickness and disease.

  471. Then you go to a doctor and they can do nothing about it.

  472. Yeah.

  473. Number three.

  474. Oh, I'll say that.

  475. God forgave David.

  476. But remember, forgiveness doesn't always remove the consequences.

  477. It's dangerous to play with sin.

  478. There are consequences.

  479. Yeah, he is gonna forgive you.

  480. Absolutely.

  481. Thank God for his mercy, thank God for his grace.

  482. But there are consequences to sin.

  483. Don't trade your destiny for a momentary desire.

  484. It's only gonna last for a moment, but it'll change your life forever.

  485. Number three, sin brings destruction.

  486. I'm gonna finish this one.

  487. I got enough time today.

  488. Uncontrolled desires.

  489. That's why you have to learn how to discipline your body.

  490. Lead to destructive decisions.

  491. Some of the decisions that we have made are a result of a desire that was premature.

  492. Premature relationships when you know that you're not ready.

  493. Then you end up in a situation that's difficult to maneuver out of.

  494. And that's simply because your flesh is out of control.

  495. You wanted a a woman.

  496. Okay.

  497. It's just I'm just hearing it.

  498. You wanted a woman because your mother wasn't what you needed her to be.

  499. And now you became a womanizer.

  500. Uncontrolled desires.

  501. Self-control is the fruit of the spirit.

  502. You gotta learn how to operate in self-control.

  503. Okay, it brings destruction.

  504. James chapter one.

  505. I got five minutes.

  506. Oh sinning will destroy your relationship with God.

  507. And it's important that we understand this.

  508. I'll just give you one scripture.

  509. Go back and look at the app.

  510. The rest of the scriptures for this point will be there.

  511. When you feel dry spiritually, something is off.

  512. When you're having a difficult time praying, something is off.

  513. When you have a difficult time not getting in the word, something in your life is off.

  514. James chapter 1, verse number 13, it says, Let no man say when he's tempted, he's tempted of God.

    James 1 chapter mention

  515. God cannot tempt you with stuff.

  516. Neither he tempted any man.

  517. But every man, every man when he's tempted, when he's tempted.

  518. When he's tempted, notice what happens.

  519. He's drawn away of his own lust.

  520. So it is the lust that you haven't dealt with that's causing you to be tempted in a particular area.

  521. And when you're tempted, you're now enticed.

  522. It's almost as though the enemy will dangle a carrot in front of you, and now you are trying to chase after stuff to appease your feelings.

  523. And when that lust has conceived, because the lust will give birth to something that may be premature.

  524. You're giving birth to things that you should not give birth to.

  525. You weren't called to have a baby.

  526. But yet you've birthed out things that aren't even yours because of lust.

  527. You got to deal with this lust.

  528. So what may appeal to you may not appeal to me.

  529. Everybody's lust, a strong desire is what the word lust means, a strong desire for something.

  530. Certain things you shouldn't lust after.

  531. There is one thing we all should lust after: a strong desire for God.

  532. But when God is not first, then we lust after other things because we are enticed.

  533. You're enticed for a new bag.

  534. You know you don't need anything new.

  535. It gives birth to something that you don't need.

  536. Sin blocks your alignment with God.

  537. And when your alignment with God is blocked, you start to justify what you should be resisting.

  538. You're saying this right.

  539. I'm gonna close here.

  540. You don't fight sin by trying hard.

  541. You must dethrone it by repentance.

  542. Let's close here.

  543. This is a dethroning something in your life that has elevated itself before God.

  544. You have to dethrone it.

  545. This thing, or these things, or these people, are now sitting on the throne where only God should reside.

  546. And when you talk about surrender, it's returning back to God.

  547. It's surrendering your control and giving it back to Him.

  548. Because prior to that, you're in control.

  549. You make decisions, you chose this, He didn't tell you to do it.

  550. The Lord has been dealing with me about stuff that I have made a decision to do.

  551. And he said, I didn't tell you to do that.

  552. Just because you can do it doesn't mean you're supposed to do it, is the word that he told me.

  553. And then he further said that if you do it, I'm not with you because I didn't tell you to do it.

  554. So I said, I'm not about to make any decision at all on my own again.

  555. This was Friday night, Saturday morning.

  556. Because I had made a decision that I was gonna do this because I could.

  557. And when I got up in the morning at my appointed time, the Lord said, I didn't give you the okay to do that.

  558. So I had to take the control that I had to give it back to who it belongs to.

  559. And I had to say, Oh, my bad.

  560. Let me get back in my place on the passenger side and let you drive this car.

  561. And it was just something so simple.

  562. Wasn't a major, it wasn't like a major big decision, it was something that was so small that if I would have done it, you could tell he wouldn't have been in it.

  563. And I said, I need him to be in everything that I do.

  564. So if I had to turn, I know there are some areas in your life that you need to give the control back to the one who has the controller.

  565. Every head is bowed and every eye is closed in prayer.

  566. Let's take a moment because there are areas in your life that may be out of control.

  567. Or there may be areas in your life that you are in control.

  568. Let's give it back to the one who can control everything, who knows everything, who can see into the future.

  569. But you got to give him control.

  570. Say, Father, in the name of Jesus, I've been missing it.

  571. I take my hands off the steering wheel, and I'm giving everything.

  572. My mind, my will, my emotions, my decisions, my finances, my relationships, my job.

  573. I'm giving everything back to you.

  574. Check me when I try to take it back.

  575. Convict me when I'm missing it.

  576. And I'll make the decision to not take control, but to make sure you're in full control.

  577. Come on, if you believe that, lift up your hands and say, Father, I thank you today.

  578. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

  579. Thank you, Lord.

  580. Thank you, Lord.

  581. Now we never want to take this for granted.

  582. Maybe you're in here today and you're not born again.

  583. We don't want to spend a lot of time on this.

  584. People know if they're not saved.

  585. We don't have to spend a whole lot of time.

  586. You know if today it would be the last day that you would be here on this earth.

  587. Would you close your eyes and end up in heaven?

  588. Or would you close your eyes and end up in hell?

  589. You want to know that.

  590. Bible says these things are written so that you know that you have eternal life, life with God.

  591. It starts here, and then you end in eternity with Him forever.

  592. That's eternal life.

  593. It's knowing Jesus, is what the Bible says.

  594. So if that's you today, be bold, lift up your hands, we'll pray with and for you.

  595. You're not born again, you're not sure that you're born again.

  596. You want to know that you know, that you know, that you know.

  597. If that's you, be bold.

  598. Jesus said one thing if you're ashamed of me before men, I'll be ashamed of you before my father.
