  1. Well, hey, good. Morning, real life.

  2. Hey, we're so excited you are here in the house worshipping

  3. with us today. Whether you are here with us in

  4. person or you're watching offline, stand to your feet.

  5. We're going to worship God. Together this morning you see my

  6. big dream, the mountain you see a.

  7. Mountain and as I walk through the shadow, your love surrounds

  8. me. There's nothing to fear now for

  9. I you say. When?

  10. I fight out, flying on my knees with my hands lifted high.

  11. Oh God, the battle belongs to you, and every fear out they

  12. ain't your feet. I'll sink through the night.

  13. Oh God, the final belongs to you.

  14. And if you are for me, you can be against me.

  15. For Jesus, there's nothing impossible.

  16. Do you believe that today? Come on.

  17. When all I see are the end shapes, you see the beyond day.

  18. Thank you, God. When all I see is a cross God,

  19. you see the ante too. So when I fight, I'll fight on

  20. my. Knees.

  21. With my hands lifted high. Oh God the battle belongs to

  22. you. Every fear I make your.

  23. Feet. I'll sink through.

  24. The night, oh God, battle belongs to you.

  25. Almighty Fortress, you go before us.

  26. Nothing can stand against the power of our God.

  27. You shine in the shadow, you win every battle.

  28. Nothing can stand against the power of our God In Almighty

  29. Fortress you go before us. Nothing can stand against the

  30. power of our God. You shine in the shadow, you win

  31. every battle. Nothing can stand against the

  32. power of our God in Almighty fortress you go before us.

  33. Nothing. Nothing can stand against the

  34. power of our God. You shine in the shadow, You win

  35. every battle. Nothing can stand against the

  36. power of our God. So when I fight, I'll fight on

  37. my knees with my hands lifting high.

  38. For God, the battle belongs to you.

  39. Every fear. I lay in.

  40. Your feet I'll sing through the night.

  41. Oh. God, the battle.

  42. Belongs to you. Oh.

  43. God, the battle belongs. To you.

  44. Come on, get back some praise this morning.

  45. That's right. Come on.

  46. So much comfort just in knowing that he fights our battles for

  47. us, that he's with us through all that stuff.

  48. Christ is my firm foundation, the rock on which I stay, and

  49. everything around me is shaking. I've never been more glad that I

  50. put my faith in Jesus 'cause He's never let me down.

  51. He's faithful through generations, so how would he

  52. feel? Now he wants.

  53. He won't, and I've still got joy in chaos and I've got peace.

  54. That makes no sense. So I won't be going on and I'm

  55. not helped by my own strength because I built my life on Jesus

  56. and he's never let me down. He's faithful in every season.

  57. So I would heave him out. He won't.

  58. He won't won't. He won't help.

  59. He won't fail. He won't.

  60. He won't. He won't fail.

  61. He won't fail. Christ is my firm foundation,

  62. the wrong kind of which I stay. When?

  63. Everything around me is shaking. I've never been more than glad

  64. that I put my faith in Jesus. He's never let me down.

  65. He's faithful through generations.

  66. So I would he fail now He won't. He won't go.

  67. He won't fail, He won't fail. Never fail me, God, you won't

  68. fail me. Now rain came.

  69. Came and went blue and my house was built on you.

  70. I'm safe with you and I'm gonna make it through.

  71. Came and went blue and my house was built on you.

  72. I'm safe you and I'm gonna make it through.

  73. Rain came and went, blew and my house was built on you.

  74. I'm safe with you and I'm gonna make it through.

  75. Yeah, I'm gonna make it through 'cause I'm standing.

  76. Strong on you? Yes, I'm going to make it

  77. through 'cause my house is built on you.

  78. Christ is my firm foundation, the rock corner which I stand

  79. when everything around me is shaking.

  80. I'm never been more glad, but I put my faith in Jesus 'cause

  81. he's never let me down. He's faithful through

  82. generations and so I will eat them now.

  83. He won, He won. He won't fail.

  84. He won't fail. He won't.

  85. He won't won't. He won't fail.

  86. He won't fail. No, he.

  87. Won't. Amen.

  88. If you believe that this morning he'll never, ever fail, give him

  89. a shout. This grander earth is quake

  90. before move by the sound of his voice and sees that are shaken

  91. and stirred can be calmed and broken from my regard.

  92. He's threw it all, threw it all. My eyes are on you and threw it

  93. all, threw it all it is well. And threw it all, threw it all.

  94. My eyes are on you and it is well with me.

  95. Far be it for me to not believe even when my eyes can see, and

  96. this mountain lands in front of me will be thrown into the midst

  97. of the sea. Do you believe it?

  98. This morning they threw it all, threw it all my eyes are on you

  99. and threw it all, threw it all it.

  100. Is well and. Threw it all, threw it all.

  101. My eyes are on you. And trust in him.

  102. The waves in wind. Still know his name so let go

  103. my. Soul and trust.

  104. In. Him the waves in.

  105. Wind still know his name, so let go my soul and.

  106. Trust in him, the waves in wind. Still know is there the waves in

  107. wind. Still know is there.

  108. It is Where? Where my soul singing after him,

  109. and it is a with my soul. It is a with my my soul.

  110. It is a well. It is a well with my soul.

  111. Oh, it is a Wellness well. With my soul because of who you

  112. are or. It is away with my soul, all

  113. you've done, or it is away. Cuz threw it all, threw it all.

  114. My eyes are on you and threw it all.

  115. Threw. It all it.

  116. Is well Lord. And threw it all.

  117. Threw it all. My eyes are on you.

  118. Man can weave it up for God this morning and I love those words

  119. and I and I know there's people in here walking today with winds

  120. and waves and storms of life is crashing in on you, but turn

  121. your eyes on Jesus. And my prayer for you today is

  122. that you meet Jesus in the midst of your storm and you're

  123. comforted and you're healed. And man, you're just restored to

  124. the hope that God's got for you in the gospel.

  125. Let's give it up for God one more time, Can't we?

  126. Man, I love worship with you guys.

  127. Man, you guys are killing us today, man, I didn't, I know.

  128. It's just a blessing to God that we worship this way.

  129. So man, thank you guys so much for just giving your hearts to

  130. God. Hey, once you guys take this

  131. opportunity, we have a lot of new people with us today that

  132. are online and in person. Can we show those guys some love

  133. as well? Just give them some round of

  134. applause. Hey, once you guys take 30

  135. seconds to greet somebody around you.

  136. The. All right, you guys can go ahead

  137. and be seated. Hey, I want you to know we've

  138. got something awesome for you guys today.

  139. We've been praying for you guys. We've been praying for this

  140. gathering all week. And on your chair there's a

  141. connection card. This connection card is for

  142. everybody. This is an allscape moment, as

  143. our pastor Sean loves to say, if you call real life home, we love

  144. it when you fill this outlet us know what's going on in your

  145. life. Maybe you've got a prayer

  146. request, then maybe you've got a praise.

  147. Maybe God showed up in your in your life this week and

  148. something you've been praying for.

  149. So we love to hear about those. Write those down, send them in.

  150. We love to look at those we pray over week in and week out.

  151. If you're new with us, we're so excited that you chose to join

  152. with us in this gathering. I'm going to make a promise to

  153. you. We're not going to ask anything

  154. else from you all day, but for this one small thing, we just

  155. want to know who you are, which we would love it if you would

  156. introduce yourself to us. And the connection card is the

  157. best way that you can do that. And the reason that we collect

  158. these is we want to send you out some more information about real

  159. life. We're not going to show up your

  160. door. We're not going to do anything

  161. weird, but we want you to know that we love you, that God loves

  162. you. And maybe this is the spot that

  163. God's called you to come in and be on mission with us.

  164. And so we'd love to say that we're a church on a mission.

  165. And that mission is to see people far from far from God,

  166. discover the real life and purpose in Jesus.

  167. What that simply means is it's like in the song, right?

  168. The winds in the way, the storms of life, it beats people down,

  169. it breaks people. But our joy, our love, our

  170. mission is we get to see people commit their lives to Jesus week

  171. in and week out. And so we love to be on mission

  172. here and we pray that you jump in and are on mission with us.

  173. Before we do anything else, before we get Pastor Sean up

  174. here, one awesome announcement. If you are a real life youth or

  175. a parent of a real life youth, 6th through 12th grade, we're

  176. inviting you out to our second annual sporting event.

  177. The So we have a very generous family that has donated some

  178. tickets. And so this is the second time

  179. we're doing it being second annual, right?

  180. And so we want your kids to get signed up early.

  181. There's limited spacing and this is for your kids, their friends

  182. and real life elite leaders. So it's an awesome opportunity

  183. to go have a great time as as a youth group.

  184. So love for you guys to check that out.

  185. So today we're continuing our series The Elephant in the room.

  186. And if you guys missed the last week, you need to go back and

  187. check it out. But the elephant in the room is

  188. this, it's the question that you think you're the only one

  189. asking, right? It's the deep dark thing that

  190. you're ashamed to ask. You know, where's God where I

  191. heard, you know, why does God ask me to do this?

  192. What does this mean in my life? You know, where's the purpose?

  193. And, and I don't understand, but I'm afraid to ask.

  194. And we all have those elephants in the room.

  195. But I can tell you one thing, you're not the only person

  196. asking that. And so in this series, we're

  197. really diving into what God has for us from from the Scriptures.

  198. There's no church cliches here, just some some good honest

  199. biblical truths. So I want you guys to take this

  200. opportunity as we continue Elephant in the Room and just

  201. show some love to Pastor Sean as he comes up.

  202. Hey, thanks, guys. Well, good morning.

  203. Happy Labor Day weekend. Oh, wow.

  204. We can do better now. Good morning.

  205. That's what I call Labor Day. It was like, yeah, good morning,

  206. pastor. I like some as like a smoker

  207. voice or something happened there.

  208. So could you give one more time? Everybody's new and newer today.

  209. Let them know you love them. Come on, one more time.

  210. I want to honor somebody today. Very special.

  211. This is just a unique Sunday. I'll be last Sunday here for a

  212. while. George, may we stand up?

  213. Where's Jordan? He's like, don't do this to me.

  214. So Jordan, he is going to Spain to play for the national

  215. basketball team and he leaves tomorrow.

  216. So give it up for Jordan. So we're proud of you, Jordan.

  217. I've had a privilege, the honor privilege of being this young

  218. man's youth pastor, pastor and known him for a long time.

  219. And his family, Scott and Dana, we get for Scott and Dana as

  220. well. They've raised some good kids,

  221. man, and we're just we're proud of you, Jordan.

  222. We're proud of what God's doing. And I heard this.

  223. This is what I'm most proud of. Scott was actually bragging on

  224. you this morning. You probably you probably didn't

  225. figure that, but he said that you actually just finished up

  226. sometime last week. You read the entire Bible and

  227. you journaled all the chapters of the Bible of this last year.

  228. Is that amazing? Go God give it up.

  229. Come on, dude, That's probably, I don't know, one to million.

  230. I don't know. There's not very many people

  231. would ever do that, especially at your age in the school and

  232. being an athlete and all the things you're competing with

  233. that time. So I'm looking for what God's

  234. going to do in Spain and we're praying for you.

  235. We love you. Give her more time, love, know

  236. we love him. Come on man, thanks for

  237. following Jesus, man. It's it's it's fun to watch.

  238. So a couple things for jump in one, we've got baptism coming up

  239. on our birthday, 8th birthday, September 21st.

  240. And I would encourage you to take this spiritual step.

  241. It is a significant step in your spiritual life.

  242. And if you know Jesus and yet to get baptized, I was gonna

  243. explain but why it's so important and what God's asking

  244. us to do outside of really knowing Jesus, getting baptized

  245. is the second most spiritual step you can take the most

  246. significant spiritual step you can take.

  247. And Jesus actually asked us to get baptized.

  248. He says go therefore in the world, make disciples of all

  249. nations, baptizing them and name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

  250. And so when you get baptized, it's a picture of what Jesus has

  251. done in your life. Matter of fact, it's significant

  252. for you to be unashamed what Christ has done.

  253. You're sharing your story with the world that I was buried is a

  254. picture of Jesus being buried dead and arose again, the power

  255. of sin. And so it's a picture of what

  256. Christ has done in your life. And so you want to be a disciple

  257. of Jesus. One of the marks of the disciple

  258. is to get baptized. Amen.

  259. And a lot of people miss this. How many guys have been

  260. baptized? Show of hands.

  261. So I'm preaching to the choir, right?

  262. But there's some you're like, come on, right?

  263. And in the Spirit, God's asking like take a step of obedience.

  264. And the Bible says it's, it's interesting.

  265. If you confess me before men, I'll confess my father.

  266. But if you don't confess me before men, I won't confess to

  267. my father. It's very interesting.

  268. There's something special when it's going public with your

  269. faith. And so I encourage you to do

  270. that. I don't think it plays a part of

  271. your salvation, but I think it's very special to get in that

  272. water and let the world know you're unashamed of Jesus.

  273. Amen. So we're excited for you guys.

  274. Didn't get baptized yet. This is your chance.

  275. We baptized twice a year. We do the whole thing up.

  276. It's a giant pool in the middle and it's a lot of fun to walk

  277. through the steps. But get signed up today.

  278. Today we, we jump into our second part of series, the

  279. elephant in the room, and this is a be a fun series because

  280. we're walking through taboo questions and some of these

  281. questions we we, we dance around and some are like so heartfelt

  282. and so heavy that we probably don't tell anybody.

  283. And we as questions, we always have questions.

  284. We have questions about doubts like if I doubt God, if I doubt

  285. his plan, if I doubt it's who's real?

  286. Do I go to heaven? Am I saved?

  287. Like is, is hell a real place? Like we, we walk through this

  288. God really do these things. Why are Christians so

  289. judgmental, right? I mean, kind of, you know, you

  290. walk this season like, I can't believe Christians would do

  291. this. And you kind of walk away from

  292. gobble because you see how Christians act sometimes you

  293. look out and you're like, but why are Christians so divided

  294. over politics and the things of the world?

  295. And these are questions that we we typically don't ask.

  296. And a day is going to be a very interesting, heartfelt question.

  297. And it deals with Labor Day of all things.

  298. And it's a really this idea, what if or what do we do when

  299. we're can't find meaning and purpose and what we do for our

  300. work or in life? You're not going to probably ask

  301. our spouse or really anybody, man.

  302. I'm not really feeling it Like what, what do we do?

  303. We kind of feel numb to the world or numb to our job.

  304. Ever just gone through the motions and punch the clock and

  305. it's just year after year or a season of just, I mean, I can't

  306. believe I'm still doing this. It's frustrating.

  307. God, why am I in this season? And so there you go walk through

  308. what's the purpose in work? What, what's got up to, why

  309. would I walk through this? Is it meaningless?

  310. And if you start thinking about your life and futility, it can

  311. be kind of meaningless pretty quick.

  312. It can feel that way. And so on my prayer day is that

  313. you will find significance. You find purpose.

  314. You'd have this aha moment, Jesus, where he purposes your

  315. work, where you have a higher calling than just showing up to

  316. punch a clock that's more than a paycheck.

  317. It's Kingdom minded. And so to redefine our purpose

  318. today, it's always intriguing to think about why holidays exist.

  319. Labor Day, I had to research this.

  320. I've never actually researched why does Labor Day exist?

  321. That sounds kind of interesting. Amen.

  322. I know you all Googled it, You know, Chachi PT, they're like,

  323. oh, maybe what's going on with this?

  324. And I learned something. It's so interesting.

  325. Back in the 1800s, late 1800s, it had been the industrial

  326. revolution. People are are working

  327. endlessly. There's no laws for labor and

  328. children are going to factors and working at a young age.

  329. People are working 12 to 1618 hour days, seven days a week and

  330. with the threat of being fired if they don't show up.

  331. And these unions are being formed and there's protest,

  332. people actually getting killed in riots.

  333. And eventually labor laws come to pass in Grover Cleveland in

  334. the 1890s. Basically in in to to

  335. memorialize. This sets up what we know today

  336. as Labor Day, not just to honor the work or the labor, but to

  337. honor the laborers doing the work.

  338. Now, how about you? But who's thankful for Labor

  339. Day? Amen.

  340. I mean, that's a different take on it usually thinks, oh, it's

  341. end of summer, it's a fun holiday, we really appreciate

  342. our workers, but to actually honor people and say we're not

  343. going to take advantage of you. And I just thought for the Lord

  344. Jesus Christ, thank you that we will have a Labor Day, Amen.

  345. Like we've never had to do labor with Jesus.

  346. Jesus finished all the work on the cross, Amen.

  347. And so we just get to take a part of that.

  348. And God does not put us through all this religion, but

  349. relationship with him. But what do you do when life

  350. feels a little meaningless when you have to work 12 to 16 hours

  351. a day? Imagine go back to eighteen

  352. 1800s and that would be kind of meaningless to be in a factory

  353. and put a nut on a bolt 12 hours a day.

  354. That seemed pretty meaningless. So wouldn't it?

  355. And this isn't really anything new.

  356. Matter of fact, Solomon, he talked about this quite a bit.

  357. Solomon got the gift of wisdom from God, one of the wealthiest

  358. people, if not the wealthiest personnel of history says in

  359. Ecclesiastes 227. He says, so I hated life because

  360. the what? What's it say?

  361. Yeah, the work, the labor that is done under the sun was what?

  362. What to say? Grievous to me.

  363. But why is it grievous? Listen, this, he said.

  364. All of us meaningless. I chasing after the wind.

  365. I hated all the things I had told for under the sun because I

  366. must look at this, leave them to the one who comes after me.

  367. And who knows where that person will be.

  368. Wise or foolish, who knows they're going to take care of it

  369. like I spent all this time and energy to build this.

  370. And who knows where the next person is going to do?

  371. Yet they will have control over all the fruit of my toll into

  372. which I poured my effort and skill in the sun.

  373. And this too is what to say meaningless.

  374. What do you do in life and work is meaningless and he's just

  375. figuring it out. It's meaningless.

  376. And so my heart began to despair over all my tollsome labor under

  377. the sun for a person may labor with wisdom, knowledge and skill

  378. that that's what we want. And then they must leave all

  379. they have to it one to another who has not told for it.

  380. So like this is inheritance in a nutshell.

  381. And it like you get to leave your heritage like you didn't

  382. work for any of this. What are you really going to do?

  383. This is the end of life. I just, you know, basically

  384. here's a paycheck that goes to my heirs.

  385. This is it. This, this is this is

  386. burdensome. He says this too is meaningless.

  387. And he says it's a great misfortune.

  388. It's really interesting how he says that.

  389. And he asked this question in his text.

  390. It says, what do people get for all the total and anxious

  391. driving with which they labor under the sun?

  392. It says all their days their work is grief and pain.

  393. This is really exciting. Even at night, their minds did

  394. not rest. This too, is what meaningless.

  395. It ever felt this way, just real honest.

  396. Ever felt this way before? Real honest, just real honest.

  397. Yeah. I mean, I, I, I feel like this

  398. is one of those like questions that we have a lot that we don't

  399. ask. And I've definitely had seasons

  400. where I was like, why am I doing not ministry, but why am I doing

  401. this? I, I was a general contractor

  402. and I finally was like, the Lord's not called me this like

  403. this isn't what I'm supposed to be doing.

  404. Is it was total some, but there's purpose in that.

  405. It wasn't my purpose. But you think about this.

  406. I've had sayings. I think this is a jerryism.

  407. This is my father-in-law. He'll he'll say stuff like in

  408. 100 years won't matter anyway. Amen.

  409. It's just like, it's kind of meaningless.

  410. Like what, You know, it doesn't really matter, right?

  411. The next generation's really not going to appreciate that as much

  412. as we did and saw his mind say, look at the words, use

  413. frustration, grieved, despair, great misfortune.

  414. Here's the big truth today without purpose, work and life

  415. are meaningless. They're they're useless.

  416. They feel wasted. There's there's not a purpose to

  417. tie what we're doing what we're doing to back to then it feels

  418. useless like you're in this rat race in this cycle who, how many

  419. guys know purpose matters? Amen.

  420. I know purpose matters. There's a greater purpose matter

  421. of fact in our church. We say it's every week, twice a

  422. week we talked about in the welcome, but our mission

  423. statement and at the end we, we say real life and do it again

  424. now real life. And there you go, right.

  425. We, we, we, we say it every week, right.

  426. Like, oh, we do say every week. It's so important to our lives

  427. that we actually talk about in our mission statement of church.

  428. Then they find real life. What's real life?

  429. They find real life. The only real life is found in

  430. Jesus. So one that find Jesus and two,

  431. they find purpose. They find their purpose in

  432. Jesus. It's one thing to know Jesus.

  433. Nothing, no, why another thing to, to, to, to surrender,

  434. understand his plan. You know, it's been said this, I

  435. don't know who put this together, but the 2 greatest

  436. days of your life, right? The day you're born and the day

  437. you figure out why. Why?

  438. Why am I here? What is the point of all of

  439. this? Check out this picture.

  440. I'll give you illustration of purpose.

  441. All right? This is a Lego truck.

  442. A transformer Lego truck. Now, I built this.

  443. It took me 5-6 hours. That's exciting.

  444. You know what really makes it exciting is I'm colorblind.

  445. Come on somebody. And these aren't Legos, these

  446. are Phacos. You know what I'm saying?

  447. The off brand that the Chinese brand that comes in and that you

  448. can't read the thing that you know and it will do at the

  449. bottom. She has shown your pace every

  450. page and you're just discouraged because it's 105 steps, 768

  451. pieces, microscopic and blue and everything looks the same.

  452. And and you know why I built this?

  453. Let me know why I built this. You said because Diane wanted me

  454. to build a Lego transformer for that is not correct, right?

  455. Oh no, no, Levi wanted me to build this.

  456. It wasn't because I like Legos and it wasn't because I have

  457. time. Amen.

  458. I did not have time to take two nights out of my week to build

  459. this Lego transformer. I'm telling you and and and and

  460. it's supposed to like have another thing a dude, all the

  461. instructions since it's in Chinese, I didn't know you can

  462. either build the truck or the dude.

  463. They don't transform. It's a non transformer.

  464. OK, so it took me 7 hours to figure out this is a waste of

  465. time. And as soon as I built it, Levi

  466. goes. That took a long time.

  467. Dad, where's my transformer guy? He's in there and he's going to

  468. stay in there because there's no I'm ever going to do this again.

  469. Was like, I should get a super glue out and glue this truck

  470. together, dip it in some kind of glue like I'm never doing this

  471. again. I was just waiting for the knock

  472. off the table immediately and I'm like oh what boobs dad I

  473. was. Like.

  474. No right? But why did I build this?

  475. I didn't I didn't build it because I wanted to build it.

  476. I didn't build because I like Legos.

  477. I don't like Transformers. I really don't care for the

  478. movie series, to be honest with you.

  479. It's cool, but not for me. Like I don't like any.

  480. I don't spend time on it. But I did it for Levi.

  481. Levi to get home from from from school or from, you know,

  482. grandparents. And is it done yet, Dad?

  483. Is it done yet? We work on that dad yet.

  484. I'm like not enough time. And he just like he just wanted

  485. so bad and he has so much excitement and joy.

  486. Ever seen a little kid smile and light up?

  487. I mean, he was gonna say I'm a sucker, right?

  488. Like, I'm gonna say yes. So I'm like, OK.

  489. And it's pain and suffering. I'm just telling you.

  490. Everybody's walked by and he complained.

  491. Dad's taking forever. I'm like, you're telling me,

  492. son. You're telling me, right?

  493. There's a purpose. Purpose matters.

  494. Amen. There was a deep meaningful why

  495. behind the what. There was a meaningful why

  496. behind building this. If I built that and I didn't tie

  497. it back to Levi and I did it myself, you guys would think I'm

  498. weird. Weird.

  499. Now some of y'all build these things I've insulted to you,

  500. right? But you think I'm weird.

  501. But what do you do when life feels meaningless?

  502. What do when work feels meaningless?

  503. You got a member of your purpose.

  504. And there's a great passage on purpose.

  505. And I was reminded this week as I was reading through the Bible

  506. with some of our men. But John Chapter 9, if you got

    John 9 chapter mention

  507. your Bible, John Chapter 9, there's a story of a blind man

    John 9 chapter mention

  508. who receives sight and gets healed where we right at the

  509. beginning, John Chapter 9 verse one.

    John 9 chapter mention

  510. And this is one of the most profound pieces of scripture

  511. that has spoke to me in my life. It says this, it says as he went

  512. along, as Jesus went along, he saw a man.

  513. What's it say blind? And it's from birth.

  514. This man was was born blind. He didn't go blind.

  515. So his life would have been a life of a beggar.

  516. He would have been a poor, he would have been on the streets,

  517. you couldn't afford a wage, you couldn't do a job.

  518. He would just have to beg and beg and beg.

  519. And that was his life until Jesus found him.

  520. It says this, his disciples asked Jesus, Rabbi, teacher, who

  521. sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind.

  522. And there's always an assumption with suffering.

  523. We talked about this a little bit last week, but there's

  524. always an assumption of suffering that's caused by sin.

  525. There's always assumption that somebody did something wrong,

  526. somebody's at fault for somebody's life looking so bad

  527. or so horrible or so tragic that there there must be somebody to

  528. blame for that person being born blind.

  529. If he sinned for his mother and dad stand or some of his family

  530. saying that he has some kind of consequence to his life, it'd be

  531. unfathomable that God himself would actually allow us to be

  532. broken and be frail. It'd be outside their mindset to

  533. even think this way that he'd be born blind with this complete

  534. opposite. God is actually in charge of our

  535. suffering, yet actually put this whole story together.

  536. That's what Jesus says to him. He says neither this man nor his

  537. parents send it's been shocking statement to disciples, said

  538. Jesus. But this what's it say?

  539. This this happened somebody say happened.

  540. Yeah, this happened. This was put together so that

  541. here's the purpose that the works of God might be what

  542. displayed that this happens on purpose so that the works of God

  543. will be on display in him. This verse blew my mind when I

  544. first read the book of John at 17 years old.

  545. This verse was it was catastrophically different from

  546. my life because I at that point I Lily didn't understand why I

  547. was going through. I was going through.

  548. I didn't understand that God had a hand in the story that there's

  549. a greater purpose, like your life is not accident, man.

  550. Your job and where you work and all the things you told through

  551. doing the dishes, doing the laundry, having their family,

  552. the kids, where you live, all these things.

  553. God has ordained these things. God has put you in these places,

  554. Amen. It's not an accident and there's

  555. a purpose to your life, just like the purpose is blind man's

  556. life. You might look at the blind man,

  557. say man, that guy got dealt a really bad hand of cards, like

  558. life just happened to him and his environment dictate his

  559. life, like he was just a victim, like he was downhill from

  560. uncontrollables. It was somebody else's fault.

  561. It was it was somebody else. There's an accident.

  562. It was on purpose and it wasn't a result of sin.

  563. It was actually a result of God's sovereign, selective hand

  564. that he was born blind, that God had put him in this situation so

  565. that he might get the glory and the power for what he's going to

  566. do in his life, like God put him in this season so he could

  567. redeem it and use it to bring himself glory.

  568. Jesus knew his life would be hard.

  569. Jesus knew that he would suffer. Jesus knew that he would spend

  570. time being a beggar. If you read the story, he's old

  571. enough to not live at home. So all John Chapter 9 you can

    John 9 chapter mention

  572. read going through it. It's like 45 verses a day.

  573. But he he actually lives. He lived at home and he's

  574. outside the home. He's is of age.

  575. His parents won't even testify about him being blind.

  576. And so this man is not young and he knew he'd spend his life in

  577. hardship. And here's the reason there was

  578. a bigger purpose. There was a mission to his life.

  579. Amen. There's something greater than

  580. the suffering that Jesus and his his sovereignty knew that with

  581. the glory that he would show and the works to be done in him

  582. would be displayed to a lost and dying world.

  583. And somehow it would be more effective in his brokenness than

  584. in His victory. Like the redemption of his story

  585. would bring glory to God in such a way it was worth the man being

  586. born blind. Look at verse 6.

  587. And after saying this, Jesus spat on the ground.

  588. That's fun. And he made some mud with saliva

  589. and put it into the man's eyes. Now, it's interesting because

  590. when God created us as humans, he actually created us out of

  591. the dust of the earth and he formed us and instantly designed

  592. us and he breathed into us the breath of life.

  593. It's that same dirt that Jesus spits into any And you know, you

  594. might think he might actually like put together eyes with clay

  595. or just mold them up and then smeared him on this man's eye

  596. sockets or put him in the eye sockets.

  597. Who really knows, right? And he put it in his eyes and he

  598. said go. He told him wash in the pool

  599. Salome, which means since somebody say sent since because

  600. he's going to be a messenger for the things of God, he says So

  601. the man went and washed and came home seeing.

  602. Now at this point he's actually never seen Jesus.

  603. He never actually saw Jesus. He left with mud on his eyes to

  604. go to the pool and to wash. And later, only later will he

  605. see Jesus. And we serve a God that does

  606. miracles in the mundane. This man was sitting and Jesus

  607. found him. This man didn't see Jesus.

  608. This man didn't ask for Jesus. He was sitting at the perfect

  609. moment for Jesus to come by and do a miracle.

  610. Do you know that Jesus positioned your life?

  611. Amen. He's not an accident where

  612. you're at. He's placed you and He's

  613. perfectly designed you and your story, the family you're born

  614. into, the circumstances you grew up with.

  615. He's perfectly designed your story so that God can get the

  616. maximum amount of glory from your life.

  617. Amen. He's using all these things to

  618. bring himself glory. And listen this, he didn't just

  619. give the man sight, He actually gave the man purpose to give him

  620. purpose. The golden miracle wasn't that

  621. he just see. The golden miracle is that the

  622. Gods works will be on display, Amen.

  623. So he didn't just give him sight to see.

  624. He didn't do a miracle in his life.

  625. And thank you Jesus, what a great story.

  626. He actually did a miracle. So he live on mission.

  627. He did a miracle so he could proclaim that to other people.

  628. He could go out and say he did proclaim this.

  629. He said I once was blind, but now I see that that's a

  630. proclamation of God's glory, Amen.

  631. And the whole rest of his life he's going to go around and tell

  632. the whole world that I was a blind man, I was a beggar on the

  633. street. But Jesus, the Messiah, the

  634. Christ healed me. That's the glory of God.

  635. And it's the reason it's so powerful in the New Testament,

  636. in this story, is that only one person and all of history could

  637. ever give sight to the blind, and that was the Messiah,

  638. Christ. That means the Messiah anointed

  639. 1 the chosen one of God, the one prophesied in Genesis 315, the

  640. one that there was to come. They didn't know it was going to

  641. be Son of God, but he is the Son of God.

  642. And so this, this blind man, this beggar who receives his

  643. sight isn't just clearing a miracle of God, He's actually

  644. declaring the identity of God. He's saying no, no, no, that

  645. Jesus is the Messiah because he did something to me only God can

  646. do. He's literally a picture.

  647. He is the living proof of the living God.

  648. Amen. He is living proof of a living

  649. God. His story is saying only Jesus,

  650. God himself, the Messiah could have done the work and nobody

  651. could ever do this. He actually says this later on

  652. in in in Chapter 9. It says verse 32.

  653. It says nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born

  654. blind like this blind man like no one's heard of this.

  655. If this make we're not from God, he could do nothing.

  656. What he's saying is like Abraham, Moses, the prophets,

  657. there's nobody that's ever done this miracle.

  658. You see a lot of crazy miracles, Old Testament, Amen.

  659. There's a lot of crazy miracles and Isaiah, it mentions that

  660. this person will give sight to the blind, the Messiah, and so

  661. is a picture of Jesus. Matter of fact, you search the

  662. New Testament, you have disciples that heal people who

  663. are blind but make them walk. So you don't really have any

  664. specific story of a disciple healing somebody's blind.

  665. It's it's crazy. Like it was just a picture.

  666. It was a sign that Jesus was the Son of God.

  667. He's the Messiah. He's a chosen one for us.

  668. And so this means living proof of a living God.

  669. Amen. Amen.

  670. Y'all with me now. It's just significant.

  671. The miracle is not just for you, the miracles for others to see

  672. God through. You see, this blind man wasn't

  673. supposed to have sight for himself.

  674. He's actually helping other people have sight, the spiritual

  675. blinds to see the things of God. He's there to declare God's

  676. glory. Like I said, when I was 17 years

  677. old, I've read this for the very first time and I grew up in a

  678. broken home. I grew up, I saw my dad, you

  679. know, every other weekends. I grew up with step siblings.

  680. You saw my picture last week. I think that's last week, week

  681. before last week. Elblers together.

  682. I'm not going to put it back up. Don't you dare do that.

  683. I never probably got there. It's probably back in the folder

  684. there, right? You saw my family, right.

  685. And you know, at 17's interesting age because you

  686. start thinking about the future quite a bit, like you're getting

  687. close to graduate high school. Like what's my life?

  688. Can you be out? Like I'm going to make a bunch

  689. of money. Like what?

  690. What do I go to college? Like is it about money is why?

  691. Why is this hardship? You start seeing the news and

  692. it's making a little more sense and you start realizing your

  693. family wasn't like the like a nuclear family, you know?

  694. And you're like, why did this? How did this?

  695. And you start wondering like, what's the point of life?

  696. Like, am I going to really spend the next 40 years like slaving

  697. and making a paycheck just to maybe get sick and not enjoy it

  698. Like you like I'm starting thinking about this stuff like

  699. 17 and, and wondering like all these purpose questions and I

  700. read this passage and just stuck out to me like there's a reason

  701. I'm here. Like I have a purpose.

  702. Like it's not an accident that I'm in a blended family in

  703. Raytona Beach. Come on with somebody.

  704. That's Raytown, by the way, right?

  705. Maritona Beach. Like it's just not an accident

  706. that I'm in this, in the place I am with the last name I have,

  707. with the family I have and the friends I have.

  708. It's not actually God has put me on purpose so I can declare his

  709. works. That's refreshing.

  710. Amen. Like this is not an accident

  711. like I'm not coming out some cesspool and all the evolved and

  712. what's the point of life? Like I don't know just enjoy all

  713. you can because once it's over it's over.

  714. Like it was so significant to my life that I knew I had to live

  715. my life for God because he'd give me such purpose like what

  716. it look like my life to display his glory and it begin this

  717. battle of my soul for the next year.

  718. Whether I should go off and be a doctor, go pre Med or I should

  719. go into what I've considered full time ministry.

  720. And I was I was fighting back and forth and it went down to

  721. the very end. I changed, I changed schools

  722. about two weeks before school started and it was crazy.

  723. But that that's because of this scripture that was in my mind.

  724. I found my purpose. It was the second day, right?

  725. Greatest of your life. So what do you do in life feels

  726. meaningless. And I think you got to go back

  727. to your purpose that God's work is greater than our work.

  728. Doing God's work is greater than doing our work.

  729. It's not about just running cable or flying UAVs.

  730. Come on, somebody right here, this guy's about to change the

  731. world. His name's Adam.

  732. And there's some drones that may be flying out for Amazon that

  733. will go over your house and hover.

  734. If you see that at all. He's the guy to go talk to.

  735. And you think I'm joking, but I'm dead serious.

  736. It's happening, dude, it's happening literally changed the

  737. world. Thank you for doing what you do,

  738. Adam. I appreciate that, but it's just

  739. not about that, right? It's a bigger point to this

  740. whole thing. And this is what it says in John

    John 9 chapter mention

  741. Chapter 9. This is what Jesus was teaching

  742. the disciples at the beginning of this this whole thing.

  743. We healed the blind man. John Chapter 9, John Chapter 9,

John 9 chapter mention John 9:4

  744. verse 4, it says as long it is this day, we somebody say, we

  745. say we all right, as long as they we must do the works of

  746. him. Thank you.

  747. We must do the works of him who sent me.

  748. Night is coming when no one can work so much crucifixion.

  749. So Jesus, he's actually including his disciples.

  750. He's not just him doing the work of the Father.

  751. It's including disciples. It's really the point of our

  752. life that we do the work of the Father that sent Jesus.

  753. Who knows? You're in your Father's

  754. business, Amen. That's who you work for.

  755. You're doing the works of the Father.

  756. When Jesus talks, he's actually taking conversations that he had

  757. around the throne of God and he speaks to us the words of the

  758. Father in heaven around the throne about he's doing and his

  759. purposes in his ways. That's amazing to think about.

  760. Like you're part of a way bigger company than Amazon, Amen?

  761. You're part of the company. What God is doing this with the

  762. Father's work and our work is do the work of the Father who sent

  763. Jesus. It's way bigger than a paycheck.

  764. We got to make a paycheck, Amen? I mean, that's what earthly is

  765. about. You got toil, you got all these

  766. things, but it's more than a paycheck.

  767. There's something way deeper than this punching the clock,

  768. put in the four O 1K going to retire.

  769. I talked to so many people. I've talked to a man.

  770. He, he owned like everything on the South side of College Blvd.

  771. between Null and Row. He was a anesthesiologist and

  772. and he went into commercial business and he's still working.

  773. He's still working and he's upper 70s.

  774. And I asked him, I said you could retired like you're 40.

  775. You know, you could retire when you're 50.

  776. You could do all this stuff. And he said, hey, you know what,

  777. You're right. Like, I wish I would have gone

  778. back 40 years ago and had a vision for my life, for

  779. retirement. And so I just keep working.

  780. He's like, just to kind of what I do.

  781. It's just, it's just amazing because we have just kind of

  782. settled into like, that's the life I'm going to have.

  783. But what's the purpose beyond that?

  784. Amen. Maybe maybe the purpose is to

  785. fund missions or to be on mission or just share the

  786. gospel. These are all purposes we should

  787. live out every single day of our life.

  788. You might ask why work is unfulfilling.

  789. It's because we mistake work for purpose.

  790. We mistake work for purpose. And God could use your work and

  791. maybe your work has a purpose, like maybe it ties more directly

  792. and maybe God put you there to be a light.

  793. Amen. And the gospel or, or to, to.

  794. I always think if you're going to do something you do with all

  795. your might, like like whatever your hand puts to do with all

  796. your might, like you're working to the Lord, Amen.

  797. I always think like if you're roofing a house, you should roof

  798. it like it's Jesus house, Amen. Like you, you should do

  799. everything for the glory of God. So it's not just like they're

  800. spiritual and secular. I don't want you to get that

  801. idea, but like you're doing it for the glory of God.

  802. But it may not, but it's tied back to the fact that people get

  803. glory through that. Why do you roof the house so

  804. well? Oh, because I love Jesus and you

  805. get to Share your story with people around you and point

  806. people to Christ as relationships.

  807. You build. It's not just about roofing,

  808. it's about the relationships. But you, we, we say this often,

  809. you know, people ask you, hey, what do you do?

  810. And we, we tell them like earthly answers, which makes

  811. sense, but we don't really tie it back to the bigger purpose.

  812. She'll say, what do you do is say, oh, I'm a nurse, you know,

  813. I work construction, You know, I, I, I clean, I'm a, I'm a

  814. custodian. Like we fill in the blank.

  815. Like people ask immediately, You tell them a job title, you tell

  816. them the earthly job title. Some of you guys are teachers,

  817. like I said, to pick on the Amazon drunk guy here in the

  818. front, right. Quite a bit, right?

  819. But these are all earthly titles.

  820. They're man made titles. These are smaller purposes and

  821. they're awesome purposes, Amen. Like we need every one of these,

  822. Amen, Amen. Some of us need to I won't I'll

  823. stop interesting day yesterday, but here's what God calls us.

  824. Here's our heavenly purposes. All right, I'll I'll give you 3

  825. big heavenly purposes. There's way more than this and

  826. one is we're ambassador for Christ, we're bashed for Christ.

  827. 2nd Corinthians 517. This is a famous passage by Paul

  828. says, therefore, if it was in Christ our new creation, the new

  829. has come, the old is gone, the new is here.

  830. That sounds the moment you come to Christ, the moment you start

  831. relationship with Jesus that you're a new man, a new woman,

  832. the old is gone. I love it that Jesus doesn't

  833. upgrade your life. He tears down the old one and

  834. brings a new one. Amen.

  835. You don't get little tweaks. You don't paint the cabinets.

  836. No, no, you're a new person in Christ and says all this is from

  837. God who reconciled us to himself through Christ.

  838. And look at this. He gave us the ministry of what?

  839. The ministry of reconciliation. He gave us the ministry of

  840. sharing good works and being a light man.

  841. You quit smoking. Yeah, I don't smoke.

  842. I heard you maybe a little bit. That's good.

  843. But it gives a ministry to bring people back to himself.

  844. Like like God didn't move. We moved.

  845. That's why we're reconciled back to God and we have the ministry

  846. of sharing the gospel so that other people can get back in a

  847. relationship with Jesus. That that's why we're here.

  848. It's a purpose that God was reconciled the world to himself

  849. in Christ. This is the message you preach.

  850. So we tell people God was reconciled the world to himself.

  851. We down the cross, but we did not counting people's sins

  852. against them. Who's playing for that verse

  853. Amen that we don't have a Labor Day with Jesus.

  854. Like I said earlier, we don't have to earn our way back to

  855. God. God is actually carries a big

  856. eraser and we know Jesus and we make mistakes.

  857. He forgives us all says we confess our sins faithful and

  858. just forgive our sins and cleanse us from all

  859. unrighteousness like we came to Christ.

  860. We just said we were confessing our need for him.

  861. Lord, I need you, Lord, forgive me.

  862. And he took that eraser out and he washed away as far as the

  863. east is from the West. And every time we mess up, God

  864. erases. Sometimes you think God's out to

  865. get us and we're not good enough for God.

  866. But God is not sitting there going in heaven and he's writing

  867. down all this of your sins and going, man, I'm going to get

  868. you. He's not that kind of God, Amen.

  869. He's a grace filled God and he is reconciling us back to him.

  870. This is the message of you to preach.

  871. That's a great message to preach.

  872. He's committed to us. So not only did he give us, he's

  873. committing to us the message of reconciliation.

  874. He's saying it's no longer mine. I'm leaving.

  875. I'm going back to heaven. It is yours to preach.

  876. Amen. I mean, I always think God help

  877. me. Oh, thank you.

  878. I didn't even see you over here. That was tricky, Rick.

  879. Nice work, my friend. You're a good man, Rick.

  880. I like that. I'll probably trip on it later.

  881. It's a trap. But He gave us the ministry of

  882. reconciliation, verse 20. We are there for Christ.

  883. Ambassadors. Who are we?

  884. Christ ambassadors? We're diplomats for Christ.

  885. We're ambassadors for Christ. That means we speak on behalf of

  886. Christ. We're sharing things with

  887. Christ. He's not here to share.

  888. We are sharing for Him as the God.

  889. We're making His appeal through us.

  890. We implore you on Christ's behalf to be reconciled to God.

  891. God made him. This is it.

  892. Who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might be the

  893. righteousness of God. That's the message we preach.

  894. Amen. And so while you're spinning and

  895. you're toiling and you're thinking, oh man, well,

  896. everything owns you to go to the next generation.

  897. And I don't know if it really is going to matter if we have

  898. excellence and it's kind of hard to get a bed to go to work and

  899. you gotta go wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.

  900. I'm not showing up to do it. Just a job that's important.

  901. I'm actually here because I'm an ambassador for Christ.

  902. Amen. The gospel has to go into every

  903. little place where you work, play, live, study everything.

  904. The gospel goes with you. So not only ambassador, you're

  905. actually salt and light. Matthew 514.

  906. This is the Beatitudes, Jesus sermon, the mount.

  907. He said you're the salt of the earth.

  908. But if salt loses its salt in this, how can it be made salty

  909. again if it's no longer good for anything except be thrown out

  910. and trampled in her foot? I learned something about salt

  911. this week. This is going to be really

  912. interesting. There's a man in my group named

  913. Jamie Montgomer. You guys know Jamie, He's in.

  914. He's actually not here today. All right, now we can say we

  915. want to. He he read a book on the history

  916. of salt. I said, dude, you're a boring

  917. dude, man. He said it was really

  918. interesting. I was really curious.

  919. Tell me something about salt. I don't know, He said.

  920. You know what's crazy is they used to pay people with salt.

  921. A Roman soldier would get paid in salt sometimes, like when

  922. this time period salt was valuable.

  923. Like nowadays we don't think anything of it, you know, just

  924. get the shaker out filled up. You buy, you know, buy the ton,

  925. right? We just put on the road and it's

  926. icy out, right. But but salt like it was

  927. significant. Like you need it to be healthy.

  928. And so they would actually get paid in salt off and they'd

  929. store salt. He told me in Civil War they'd

  930. just be salt like carts for people to have enough salt for

  931. their bodies. It was crazy.

  932. But the thing like that salt was significant in that time period.

  933. And if you lose your salt in this, what good is it like if

  934. you're not getting the salt that you're supposed to get?

  935. Like salt was valuable is a preservative.

  936. It was a flavor. He told me that salt is actually

  937. why you have salad named after salt to keep its flavor, to keep

  938. it to last. I was like, OK, dude, you're

  939. blowing my mind now. Like he's going through all this

  940. different things, right? It's like, I'm not.

  941. What's the name of that book again?

  942. I didn't go there, right? I just got the Cliff notes from

  943. him Is perfect. They said this.

  944. You're the lie of the world. We're 14.

  945. A town built on a hill could not be hidden.

  946. I always think about Bogota, Colombian, as a town on the

  947. hill. You get out and like the, the

  948. mountains and you get little houses or little villages.

  949. I mean, it's just a such amazing picture that when you turn a

  950. light on it don't matter if you're 20 miles or 10 miles or

  951. five miles. You know, there's a, there's a

  952. city there, there's a house there and you can see it, it,

  953. it's something we don't really think about here in the States a

  954. lot because you don't have this kind of rolling valleys and

  955. stuff. You just kind of see

  956. subdivisions, but out in different areas of the world,

  957. there's villages in the night. He says neither do people light

  958. a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it instead on

  959. a stand. They elevate the light so it

  960. gives light to everyone in the house.

  961. They elevate it at their workplace.

  962. They elevate with their family. They elevate it wherever they

  963. play, elevate at school. They elevate it so people can

  964. see a light. Amen.

  965. Amen. Like your goal is to be light,

  966. to be salt, to preserve the things of God and to shine out

  967. God's glory and God's work so that people can see him and know

  968. him. He says, therefore let your

  969. light shine for others that they may see your good deeds and

  970. glorify your Father in heaven. That's a purpose.

  971. Amen. If you're discouraged, I would

  972. encourage you, baby, to get your eyes more on Jesus because it's

  973. easy to go. Well, I can't get these

  974. deadlines and all this is stressful and we're so looking

  975. down at all the things, you know, like, oh, there's there's

  976. my you know, there's this account.

  977. There's an all all man so busy, so busy, so busy.

  978. Why? What's Jesus want you to do?

  979. Share the Gospel, shine a light, be different for the things of

  980. Christ. Maybe it's add to change, right?

  981. Negativity. There shouldn't be a bunch of

  982. negativity in the Christian life.

  983. Like it just shows like there's some room to grow.

  984. Amen. Last thing is this your disciple

  985. maker Matthew 28, 18 says, then Jesus came to them and said all

  986. authority in heaven and on earth have been given to me.

  987. This is one of the last things that Jesus says to the disciples

  988. for you to act rightful ascension.

  989. He says, therefore, go and make disciples of all nations.

  990. Go and make what make disciples if if, if you're if you're can't

  991. find your purpose in me in life. Like Solomon, he was like, he

  992. was so discouraged. Like, I'm just gonna hand off

  993. everything. What are you leaving disciples?

  994. Disciples. If your life isn't invested in

  995. disciples, it would probably feel pretty meaningless.

  996. If your life wasn't about the things of Christ going to the

  997. next generation, it'd feel pretty futile.

  998. Like, what would be the point? That's why I kind of love this

  999. story over here. I mean, Scott and Jordan, the

1000. family, right? Like, dude, God's got them.

1001. This guy's reading the Bible, praying, seek care of things

1002. like God. That is reassuring and that's

1003. the gospel going forward. Amen.

1004. As we talk about the future and what it looks like, it means

1005. that we're making disciples of the next generation.

1006. They're pouring all of the things of God in our life into

1007. somebody else. That is significant.

1008. That's the purpose. You guys ever thought about

1009. starting a Bible study at your work?

1010. You guys ever thought about asking different questions like,

1011. hey, man, I heard heard that I saw on Facebook, man, how can I

1012. pray for you? Like, hey, what?

1013. What's God showing you? Just building spiritual,

1014. redemptive relationships with people around you.

1015. This might be brand new to think for.

1016. Like, you know, we're really, really good at our jobs, but

1017. we're really, really good at our job, our Heavenly Father's job

1018. to make disciples. That's what we got to focus in

1019. on because that's a life worth living and a life worth dying

1020. for. So Jesus died for to make

1021. disciples. This passage is about making

1022. disciples. We go so we can make disciples.

1023. We baptized because we made disciples.

1024. We teach because we made disciples.

1025. Go and make disciples with all nations.

  1026. That's every person. That's your workplace.

1027. And I promise you, I ain't show up to your work.

1028. Amen. I'm going to be around all your

1029. friends. I'm gonna hang with your fried

1030. night buddies. That's your place to make

1031. disciples. Live on a mission where you go

1032. every place you step foot, baptizing the Father, Son, the

1033. Holy Spirit and teach them to obey you.

1034. Teach you obedience, not just thanks God, but teach them to

1035. follow God, obey God and everything.

1036. I've command you and surely I'm with you always to the very end

1037. of the age. What a great promise.

1038. Never forget who you really are. When somebody says, hey, what do

1039. you do for a living? I always love this.

1040. Imagine an airplane. It's a great captive audience,

1041. Amen. And they always ask the same

1042. questions. It's never anything new.

1043. Nowadays it's more like earbuds and nobody talks.

1044. But if you start talking to say, what do you do?

1045. Seems like the first or second question.

1046. And usually you tell somebody, hey, you know what?

1047. Actually, I work in my father's business.

1048. It's an international company kind of worldwide, Amen?

1049. Like it actually helps people discover real life and purpose.

  1050. It's a pretty cool company. It's a lot of fun.

1051. Matter of fact, I'm actually an ambassador.

1052. Oh, really? Wow, that's so exciting.

1053. Wow. Tell me more about that.

  1054. Well, I don't, I don't mind. I will.

1055. I think I'll, you know, I got 3 hours on this flight.

1056. Thank you for asking. Right.

1057. It may be a little cheesy, but that that's the point.

1058. Like we are ambassadors. We are disciple makers.

1059. Like it's way bigger, it's way bigger.

1060. It's way bigger than just all I got to get A to B get my job

1061. list done, be transactional, get my stuff put together, notice

1062. slow down. Who in your life can you pour

1063. into to build disciples? I'm not sure who I'm poured into

1064. is my kids, but put put that thing back on the screen by my

1065. awesome truck. So proud of this truck, right?

1066. You know it's never going to be the same, right?

1067. This is a good illustration of hanging it to a teenager and

1068. start driving. It's just never going to come

1069. back the same way you left it, right?

1070. But you know why? Why do this?

1071. Because you know, it's not just all I built a truck because he

1072. was excited. What I was excited about was

1073. spending time with my son. He's 4, right?

1074. And he didn't sit next to me for six hours.

1075. OK, But he came next to me. Dad is already blah, blah.

1076. And I can just start telling him the things of God.

1077. I can say, hey, leave a story. What's that?

1078. So. Well, I once was blind.

  1079. Come on. Somebody.

1080. I once was blind, son. Yeah.

1081. I was a 15 man. Didn't go to church, grew up in

1082. a family, didn't follow Jesus. You're so lucky to know Jesus,

1083. man. I found Jesus and changed my

1084. life. Now I see, just slow down for

1085. that relationship, Amen. And you can do that.

1086. Everywhere you go, you work on something.

1087. Hey, man, I'm going to tell you a story, man.

  1088. I think you know, it's a great storyteller.

1089. Bill Hardy was a great storyteller.

1090. That boy could tell a story. If you don't know Bill, Bill,

1091. Bill went on the Lord a few months ago, and he always had

1092. time for a story. He didn't always have time for

1093. work. He did work hard, but he

1094. interrupted your work to tell some stories, Amen.

1095. And those stories always are redemptive.

1096. It always went back to the things of God, always challenge

1097. you spiritually, always encourage you deeply.

1098. That's what it looks like to make disciples.

1099. Amen. And this week, if you could just

1100. say, I can't find meaning and purpose in my work, well, maybe

1101. it's because you've been living for work and not for Jesus and

1102. say, what does it look like to to encapsulate my word for the

1103. things of Christ? Yes, with excellence, yes, with

1104. passion. But I've got coworkers in the

1105. Christ. I need people to be some

1106. encouragement. Am I praying for these people?

1107. Am I loving those people? We're looking to start a Bible

1108. study. Invite them to your house,

1109. invite them to the things of God.

1110. Our job as a church is not to get people to church and to get

  1111. them to Jesus. Amen.

1112. There will not be a banner in heaven that says real life

1113. church. There will not be a name in

1114. light that says Sean Petrie. There will be a name that says

1115. Jesus. There will be a throne.

1116. He sits on it and so our job is to scatter out throughout the

1117. week and live on mission for Christ and come back and gather

1118. and celebrate what God's done. That's why we're here.

1119. That's the purpose. That's what makes life

1120. meaningful. Being come back and say, man,

1121. you know what, God did something amazing.

1122. I saw this person hear the gospel be praying for him.

1123. He may come to Christ. I'm trying to share these things

1124. with them. Hey, I'm linking about sort of

1125. Bibles with my kid like I want to walk through where should I

1126. start because I'm living on mission with my family.

1127. These are the conversations we want to have a church.

1128. Amen, like we don't want to talk about football.

1129. Amen. We want to talk about the things

1130. that matter, the deep things of God that once was blind, but now

1131. I see, Father, come before you can help us to purpose our

1132. labor. Remind us for Our Calling.

1133. Maybe that you're speaking to some people in the room today

1134. For those of you that are so you know what, I need to purpose my

1135. life. I need to purpose my work.

1136. I've just drifted into my own routines.

1137. But the day I realized that God has put me on purpose here with

1138. a purpose to share his life, to be an ambassador, to be a

1139. stopmaker, to bring in light to share my story.

1140. If that's you and God speaking to you, to live out your purpose

1141. and your calling in these different areas, raise your hand

1142. high, says me. God speaking to me to live on

1143. mission everywhere I go. Come on, God sees the hands.

1144. He knows the hearts that help us to be ambassadors, to be

1145. reconciler speakers, to share the good news.

1146. You're not counting our sins against us.

1147. Help us have the boldness and the courage to share the deeper

1148. things in life, to slow down and to share the stories of God with

1149. our children, with our coworkers, with our friends,

1150. with their family. And we would just put our light

1151. up on a light stand, a lamp stand for the world to see, to

1152. be on display. Just amazing about the blind

1153. man. He never asked to be healed.

1154. He never asked to be healed. It's because God had purposed

1155. him to be healed. Maybe today you need to find

1156. your purpose. Maybe today for the very first

1157. time, you recognize who Jesus really is.

1158. And the Bible says the day is the day.

1159. Salvation. You heard about Jesus not

1160. countering sins against us because Jesus the only one who

1161. can erase sins, the sinless Son of God who came 2000 years ago

1162. down across for us. The Bible says today if you call

1163. name of Jesus, you be saved, forgiven and made new.

1164. The Bible said right earlier, first Sin Corinthians 217, First

1165. Corinthians 2/5/17 that the old has gone, the new has come, your

1166. new creation in Christ. And today if you need to be new

1167. in Christ, that means you find your purpose in Christ, your

1168. identity in Christ, your name in Christ.

1169. You'll be given a ministry of reconciliation that's actually

1170. coming to save you. It's supposed to go through to

1171. the world. If you'd be saved by Jesus, if

1172. that's you without me looking around, would you just raise

1173. your hand, hand high? So I need Jesus, I need, I need

1174. my purpose. I recognize a sinless Son of God

1175. who died on the cross for me that's you.

1176. Those are the called out and make it weird but that's you

1177. need Christ. Just put your hand in the hair.

1178. See your hand that you need Christ just call it to him.

1179. I believe through a prayer. The prayer does not save you but

1180. your heart towards him. This crowd say Father God, thank

1181. you so much that you have purposed me.

1182. You love me enough to send your son to down across from me.

1183. He erased my sins as far as the east is from the West God.

1184. And I recognize today I'm a Sinner in need of a savior and

1185. I've been living my own path, my own direction.

1186. I've been struggling trying to maybe figure it out or been

  1187. prideful. Look at me.

1188. But today I recognize the story. It's all about you.

1189. This story is about your glory. It's about your work.

1190. And today I can proclaim for the first time in my life that was

1191. spiritually dead. But the day I was blind and

1192. leaving here today and I can see.

1193. So thank you Jesus for saving me and I praise in Jesus name and

1194. the church said Amen. Come on, give some glory to God

1195. today. Let them know you love him.

1196. What a powerful word today. Just a reminder on our purpose

1197. and where our purpose is found, not in what we do, but in whose

1198. we are. And some of you have prayed that

1199. prayer and found your purpose in real life in Jesus today.

1200. If that is you, we are so excited for you.

1201. We would love just to walk alongside you this week to

1202. resource you with a couple of things.

1203. So if you would grab that connection card that is on your

1204. seat, fill out your information, but make sure and check that box

1205. that says I committed my life to Jesus.

1206. And you can drop that in the giving buckets here in a few

1207. minutes. But by doing so, it allows us to

1208. get you 2 things. And this is the first one is

  1209. this. It's a free resource.

1210. I will drop it in the mail tomorrow.

1211. It's a book called Begin short read, but a powerful one really

1212. will be a blessing for you as you're taking these next steps

1213. with Jesus this week. Also, if you pray that prayer

1214. and you're right here at Kentucky Trail, as you leave the

1215. worship center, there is a table with some red bags inside.

1216. Those bags are free Bible and some other resources that we

1217. would love to get to you today. And once again, we are just so

1218. excited that you chose to make that decision today.

1219. We love that you committed your life to him today.

1220. And hey, Next up is fall life groups.

1221. Hey, they are starting very soon.

1222. They start meeting next Sunday, September 7th.

1223. I know summer's winding down for all of us.

1224. Kids are back in school, routines are in place.

1225. This is a great time and opportunity to really get

1226. connected and to get plugged in with the people of God.

1227. And so I want to ask this, how many of you do you raise your

1228. hand if you have been encouraged, if you have been

1229. challenged, if you have been changed by attending a life

1230. group, turn around and look at all these hands.

1231. Well, that is real community. That's what community looks

1232. like. It's real people just doing life

1233. together, growing deeper in their faith together.

1234. And that's why life groups exist.

1235. And so I want to challenge you with this.

1236. Maybe in your mind you're already saying, I don't really

1237. know a lot of people here. I've never joined a life group

  1238. before. I don't really know where I

1239. would have fit in. But that is exactly why life

1240. groups exist. That is your community for

1241. people to do life shoulder to shoulder with and to know

1242. people's names and to get connected.

1243. That's why we do life groups here at Real Life Church and we

1244. would love to have you in a life group this fall.

1245. There are so many ways that you can check them out.

1246. You can go online to see them. You can go out in the Hub.

1247. There's a life group board that has all of them on there.

1248. You can scan the QR and sign up. Once again, They start meeting

1249. next Sunday, September 7th. If you have questions about life

1250. groups, I'll be hanging out there.

1251. Come hit me up. I'd love to talk to you, help

1252. you find a life group, life group that would be a good fit

1253. for you. Hey, if you are new with us

1254. today, thank you so much for being here.

1255. We truly are so glad that you're here.

1256. We've been praying for you this week.

1257. We've been planning for you, preparing this gathering just

1258. for you and with you in mind. And so thank you so much for

1259. being here. We don't want anything from you

1260. except for this. And that was just for you to

1261. introduce yourself to us. You can do that by grabbing that

1262. same card, fill out your information on there, check

1263. first time here and you can take that out to the new here booth

1264. as you leave. We do have a free gift that we

1265. would love to get to you just as our way of saying thank you for

1266. being here with us. And we would love to see you

1267. back next week right here at 9:15 or 10:45.

1268. And thank you again so much for being here.

1269. Hey, I want to share and say thank you so much to those of

1270. you who give here at Real Life Church.

1271. I was just looking last week at a report and so far this year,

1272. we've had 61 people come to know Jesus because of your giving.

1273. That is huge. That's right.

1274. Give it up. That's amazing.

1275. Your generosity is making an eternal impact.

1276. And every time you get here, it's so much more than just

1277. allowing us to turn the lights on to rent this space.

1278. To me, it truly is allows us. It fuels a ministry, it changes

1279. the lives, it opens the door for more people to come to know

1280. Jesus. And that's exactly what it's all

1281. about. I want to share what we believe

1282. about money here at Real Life Church.

  1283. It's a simple principle, but man, it's powerful and it's

1284. called the funnel. And that's this.

1285. You give to God first and that honors God, shows that you trust

1286. him. Hey God, I'm going to give to

1287. you first before all the other things get in the way.

1288. You invest 2nd and that builds wealth.

1289. That's like the parable of talents.

1290. It's using what we have and multiplying it to be able to

1291. give back to Him. And then you live on the rest.

1292. And that builds contentment, just says, hey, God, I trust you

1293. with what you've given to me. And I'm content with what I

1294. have. And it truly, at the end of the

1295. day, is about so much more than money.

1296. It's about souls. It's not just a financial plan.

1297. It is a discipleship plan. Because man is our generosity,

1298. heroes, our impact. Gross and at the end of the day

1299. that is what it's all about so I invite you I encourage you today

1300. to take part in that If you call real life church home, there are

1301. so many ways you can take part in that check out the screen

1302. there. You can go to our website

1304. scan the QR. The buckets are going to pass

1305. here in just a few minutes. You can drop cash or check in

1306. those or you can drop it in the giving box in the back.

1307. And as always, if you're your family, find yourself in any

1308. kind of need this week, food, clothing, shelter, would you

1311. We really do want to bless you this week.

1312. Man, what awesome day. Who's thankful for what God's

1313. doing. And get rid of these elephants.

1315. I didn't even see it was there. Hey, before we get out of here,

1318. We are turning a man. And God is so good, isn't it?
