  1. Good morning class man. It's going to be a good Sunday.

  2. I'll celebrate a few things. One, this season of church has

  3. been so exciting just to see heaven get into people.

  4. And what I mean by that is that it's not only coming to Jesus,

  5. but this fire that those who are in Jesus are living for heaven.

  6. And there's this passion around that that's being shared and

  7. some humility and just some some grind and just getting with

  8. Jesus. And I'll just share with you, if

  9. people are heaven bound, I've noticed in the season, if they

  10. get heaven into their bones, they actually help other people

  11. get heaven found. They actually have a way of

  12. saying you just need to have a drink of the water.

  13. I've been drinking from that. You got to get in the presence

  14. of Jesus. And so since the beginning of

  15. the year, this is pretty cool. So we're at what, 3 months in?

  16. We've had 27 people start a relationship with Jesus since

  17. January 1st. That's pretty good.

  18. Amen. That's pretty good.

  19. I mean, this is just exciting. Like God continues to move.

  20. This next week is Easter Sunday. And it's always amazing that we

  21. get a chance to baptize and all of these people come to Christ

  22. and people come to church. We have 10 people, 11 people.

  23. I always look at Holly because she last I heard was 10.

  24. But now it's 1113, right? Whatever.

  25. Just I missed 12. Apparently we have 11 people

  26. getting baptized next Sunday. And what's amazing is we, we

  27. just baptized the very last week of last year.

  28. So if you think about this number 11 people were 12 weeks

  29. in the year. That's almost somebody every

  30. single week that's deciding to get baptized through our church.

  31. That's Amen, Amen. Give it up for Jesus for that.

  32. That's just amazing. So over the course of the

  33. series, this is the longest by far series I've ever preached.

  34. I mean, after 12 weeks then, right?

  35. I mean, I started this the beginning of the year.

  36. It will end OK with eternity in heaven.

  37. So you can be like, you're wrong or right.

  38. We can talk later, you know what I'm saying, But I've been

  39. passing out this book to probably a dozen times or so to

  40. different people that are just, I don't know, maybe we'll say

  41. they're staring down the barrel of heaven like they're, they're

  42. in a spot where they're, they're maybe are going through a hard

  43. season with health. Or there's a family that passed

  44. away and they're they're doing their funeral or sibling or I

  45. had a son that passed away gave to a father.

  46. So many different scenarios. And all I tell people I get in

  47. the book is can you just let me know what God's showing you?

  48. Just give me some feedback. And so you know, we're not

  49. hopefully do and almost everybody's gotten back to me

  50. and it has given me feedback of God moving in their life.

  51. I just want to share with somebody reached out.

  52. This is randomly last week. It just wasn't like send me some

  53. feedback. Still this person to read in the

  54. book and this this is what they said.

  55. It says take me a take me a little longer than usual to read

  56. because I'm highlighting all the scripture passages, rereading

  57. them, and writing notes about them in my new Heaven Journal

  58. book. I don't know what the Heaven

  59. Journal book is. Maybe it comes with it.

  60. We'll have to find out. But she's writing a Heaven

  61. Journal book, looking at the Scriptures and taking notes.

  62. That's Amen, right? That's amazing, since one thing

  63. I've noticed is that the book has made it a little easier to

  64. understand more of what the Scripture says.

  65. I think I was trying too hard to understand the message Jesus was

  66. trying to convey. In fact, I've gone back to read

  67. some parts of the Bible that I found confusing and hard to

  68. understand just to discover several aha moments.

  69. That's amazing. And you know, I also encourage

  70. you as a pastor when when you read the Bible, it is makes

  71. sense. Like don't try to seek any other

  72. sense. Like it's written to everyday

  73. people. You do not need a degree or be a

  74. scholar or be educated. I mean, it is made for everyday

  75. people. Amen.

  76. And so you just get a little piece of like, oh, wow, this is

  77. just, it's a lot simpler than I thought.

  78. We don't need to overcomplicate the Scripture.

  79. This is gold. That's what she said.

  80. Reading the Bible now has stirred an excitement in myself

  81. that have never really had before.

  82. Not to say it wasn't excited. It's just that now it seems

  83. easier. Look at this.

  84. It's stirred an excitement in myself that I've never really

  85. had before. That's a good day, is it?

  86. Follow Jesus. Amen.

  87. You're excited to walk with Jesus, She said.

  88. Once I finished the Bible in its entirety, there's a goal.

  89. Come on, somebody. This being the third or fourth

  90. attempt. Now I'm going to read it again

  91. because I believe I found it a bit easier next time to

  92. understand, not to mention a whole lot more enlightening.

  93. Amen. It's pretty cool.

  94. So here's what I do. I want to pass out one of his

  95. books today for somebody that's like, hey, you know what?

  96. This series is blowing my mind. I've just been really

  97. encouraged. I want to go deeper in heaven.

  98. I want to just learn for myself, you know, you may not be a

  99. reader and you're like, man, I'm going to try it.

  100. You may be a prolific reader and like want it.

  101. And so I'm going to do I'm going to who?

  102. Who would like this book? I'll give you.

  103. I'll give a copy out. Just put your hand up real high.

  104. That's you. OK.

  105. We'll go all, all in the back because that's what we're going

  106. to do today. So Holly can help me out.

  107. Well, you can tell us about when we get there.

  108. She gone, right? Oh, man.

  109. So you talk about getting heaven to people.

  110. We have a great opportunity next Sunday to bring heaven to

  111. people's lives. It is just absolutely amazing.

  112. If you just invite somebody to share the gospel, just ask

  113. somebody how how they will be open.

  114. Hopefully. Like, I mean, last year we do

  115. not like huge and like put a bunch of marketing on stuff.

  116. We had just shy 600 people last year, which is insane, which is

  117. insane. So I don't know what's going to

  118. happen. I think the 10:00 is going to be

  119. nuts. So just throwing out there.

  120. If you want to come a different time, that'd be helpful, right?

  121. But just getting heaven to people.

  122. And this last week it was exciting.

  123. I met with a developer in our city and you know, I'm, I'm

  124. pastor. We're in the middle of a, you

  125. know, building initiative, right?

  126. So we're like wheel and deal, right?

  127. So I see something happening. It's like, hey, what's up?

  128. Like, let's sit down. And, you know, we're talking

  129. about vision and direction and what they're doing and, you

  130. know, all these different things.

  131. Learned a lot about this, the mindsets on some things.

  132. And he asked the question, Hey, tell him about your church.

  133. Well, let me tell you, yes, Sir, you asked a good question.

  134. So I just start bragging about Jesus.

  135. Amen. That's about lives being

  136. changed. People come out, addictions,

  137. people, the number of people baptized last year, people come

  138. to Christ and we're set up and tearing down and for eight

  139. years. And this guy's like, dude, you

  140. guys are so committed. Like, I can't believe the love

  141. you have for the city and having almost 300 people every Sunday

  142. come out to your church. I mean, it was just an exciting

  143. conversation. And he shares his story and just

  144. that heavy side of religion, legalistic church you grew up in

  145. really pushed a lot of rules and just walked away from the church

  146. and found his own spiritual journey.

  147. And so I got a chance to just share Jesus, encourage him in

  148. faith and invite him out to you start real life church.

  149. Amen. As soon as we do just see what

  150. God's going to do. You just you plant some seeds

  151. and I feel like there's something special as a just a

  152. minister, not me, but all of us. When you see somebody in their

  153. pain, like when you find the struggle, like when you find

  154. that that drives them, when you when you find the part that

  155. hurts, there's something special.

  156. Not just you point them to Jesus, but actually when you

  157. carry them to Jesus, when you're praying for them, when you just

  158. don't give up on them. When you get your phone out in a

  159. week and you're like, hey, man, just been thinking about you.

  160. I'm praying for you. Let's grab another coffee.

  161. Like when you minister for somebody and there's something

  162. special as a body of Christ, we get really, really good at and

  163. it's really shepherding people's pain.

  164. We have to get really, really good at realizing that what

  165. makes people tick where they're hurting and then putting the

  166. right medicine of the gospel, the good news of Jesus, the

  167. things of God on the spots and people's lives that are hurting.

  168. Amen. That's what church is all about.

  169. And so I just excited to to play part of that story.

  170. And that's what Easter is. So when you're working with

  171. somebody, don't make it complicated.

  172. You know, you're, you're ministering somebody, just

  173. invite them out, speak into the hurt, speak into their life and,

  174. and Share your story and talk about how God made a difference

  175. and then say, you know, maybe God can make a difference come

  176. out to church. And most people give up on

  177. church to be honestly, they've kind of given up on the idea of

  178. let's get together because I'm done with people.

  179. But I don't think God is done with the church yet.

  180. Don't think he's done with church yet.

  181. Maybe doing a lot differently nowadays, but I think in our

  182. culture, people are very open if we will just ask and just be

  183. humble about asking people. So today my prayer is that you'd

  184. be so moved by heaven, you'll bring others or carry others to

  185. Jesus. You actually see this in the

  186. Bible. It's found in Mark chapter 2,

    Mark 2 chapter mention

  187. pretty amazing piece of scripture.

  188. It says a few days later when Jesus again entered, compared

  189. him, the people heard that he'd come home.

  190. They'd gathered in such large numbers, there's no room left,

  191. not even outside the door. And he preached the word to

  192. them. You know, it's always a really

  193. good idea when you get a crowd together to share the word of

  194. God. Amen.

  195. It made me feel like a little awkward if you're not a

  196. preacher, but we all know enough Bible, right?

  197. Just share Jesus, share the good news.

  198. This what Jesus does. He got the crowd and he just

  199. preached the word to them. Some of the men came bringing to

  200. him a paralyzed man. Look at this carried by four of

  201. them. And I'm just going to say is you

  202. just pick the story up at the beginning here.

  203. I love it when men lead the way. I love it and it's not an

  204. indictment against the women. We have amazing women that lead

  205. the way and cure the torch. Almost every person on our staff

  206. team over the years has been a lady on our staff team.

  207. A lot of churches that way. Women are make up 60% of the

  208. tents of churches. And the reason I say that I love

  209. what men lead the way is because most men don't just don't,

  210. they're like almost like spiritually apathetic like this.

  211. The, the wife, the girlfriend, the bringing them to church,

  212. right? And it's just, it's just a

  213. rarity to find a man that has his heart set on Jesus and chase

  214. after Jesus. And I just started thinking

  215. like, well, how did this story happen, right?

  216. Like there's a paralyzed man that that gets to Jesus and it's

  217. these men brought. So you got to think about this,

  218. this hot guys operate, right? It was probably 1 dude that was

  219. walking down the street and he saw that guy and he said, Hey,

  220. guys, guys, hey, come on, Hey, everybody, come here, come here.

  221. Dude. We got to get something.

  222. We got to figure this out. Come on, let's go, let's go.

  223. It was probably one person that had the idea, look, I got to get

  224. this out of Jesus and then gathered a group of men to help

  225. move that person to Jesus. Amen.

  226. They're probably one of the committee formed.

  227. We saw a problem, which is this person needs to be healed.

  228. And some men got together and said, let's solve this problem.

  229. That's a good day. Amen.

  230. This is what men should be doing.

  231. They should. I just never imagined our

  232. church, like if every man just had the ability to see people's

  233. hurt and then give them to Jesus.

  234. I mean, unstoppable force of nature, the church, it's just

  235. every man's like man, that's not an eruption.

  236. I noticed that person's hurting like it's I'll take some time,

  237. I'll get on the phone, I'll meet up, I'll invite you in my life.

  238. I'll set your story if need be right.

  239. We can't just come to Jesus conversations.

  240. I just think even if half the men in my church, we just say,

  241. you know, I see some people's pain.

  242. I I recognize what God is doing. There's a lot of wisdom in that

  243. and I'm not and dying, you guys, but I'm Sean, I'm your friend.

  244. Come on, somebody, right. But I think as guys, our culture

  245. has kind of set us up. We stay really busy and focused

  246. and carry a lot of weight. And oftentimes we miss the very

  247. thing that God wants us to do. Just people around us enlisting

  248. others to heal other people's lives.

  249. This is simplicity is that you see whatever else saw and to do

  250. what no one else was doing. It's just with compassion.

  251. And they picked up this guy's mat.

  252. They did for this paralyzed man what he could never do for

  253. himself. He he never could get himself to

  254. Jesus. It was going to be impossible

  255. for him, his own strength and ability to actually get to the

  256. presence of God. Here's the point.

  257. Real love carries what most others critique.

  258. Real love carries what most other people critique.

  259. You think about this, Everybody knows the solution.

  260. Everybody's like, man, I hope somebody picks them up or like,

  261. I'll tell you what, man, that that guy's problem is this.

  262. I kind of noticed that and everybody's got an opinion and

  263. everybody's got everybody knows what to do.

  264. And the Bible says that him who knows good and does it not to

  265. him is is sin to whoever is the world's good and is compassion

  266. to shut up and he doesn't give it to somebody else is in sin.

  267. The love of God cannot be in him.

  268. And so your life will be moved by moments of compassion.

  269. It's how Jesus will move your life.

  270. Your call will always be shaped by the level of your compassion.

  271. The more compassionate, the greater the call.

  272. More compassionate, the bigger the impact because you start to

  273. see with the very eyes that Jesus sees.

  274. So real life truly carries what other people just critique.

  275. They love them where they're at, they're served without

  276. conditions, and they step into the very mess that most people

  277. want to avoid every single day. That was verse 3.

  278. We'll go to verse 4 now. Since they could not get him to

  279. Jesus because of the crowd, that is where most people probably

  280. stop. They couldn't get into Jesus.

  281. We did our best. We'll pack it up.

  282. It's just too difficult. It says they made a what an

  283. opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and they

  284. lowered the mat the man was laying on.

  285. I, I love the passion of these men because this took a little

  286. bit of like thought they, I don't know how they, you know,

  287. like there's more than four of these guys, by the way, because

  288. it says the guy, the man and four of them carried the mat.

  289. So there's a group of guys that said, I don't want to do.

  290. And everybody grabbed a corner and they started going and

  291. there's always a giant crowd. They're kind of pushing through

  292. and it's like, damn, forget this.

  293. What else can we do? And those houses are built on

  294. the edge of, of hills. So they're like, well, let's

  295. just go around the back and we'll, we'll go up the hill and

  296. we'll just get out on the roof. So lay them down here.

  297. Somebody find some ropes. Maybe they tore their tunics,

  298. maybe some naked dudes on the roof.

  299. I don't know what's happening here.

  300. And they tied off. I don't know how they figured

  301. out how to get rope. And somebody's in the roof.

  302. Like he's right here. I think he's here.

  303. He's right in this spot and right above Jesus this side.

  304. No, there's some carpenters in the house.

  305. Amen. They tore off the roof and Jesus

  306. is right below him and then they decided we'll just lower them

  307. down. So there's got to be these 4

  308. ropes or how they roped them up and they lowered them to Jesus.

  309. Imagine if these guys weren't very good and it just drops in

  310. front of Jesus, right Doom. Then it'd be that two miracles.

  311. You know what I'm saying? It's just difficult stop right?

  312. But it's just amazing like all the little facets you don't

  313. really see in the story until you really have to think about

  314. what would that will intake, what it look like in these

  315. thatched ribs right? You heard the saying like it

  316. raining cats and dogs. You guys heard that before this

  317. because these houses are on the side of, of pitches and the

  318. animals get on top. When it rains, it gets real

  319. heavy and the animals fall through the ceiling into the

  320. floor. And so these, these men knew

  321. like we can go through the ceiling if need be, like it's

  322. not going to stop us. So there's a bunch of people in

  323. the way like we're, we're, we're going to make room.

  324. We're going to go a different direction.

  325. And here's the point. Even though they could not, they

  326. made an opening. And then when you're, when

  327. you're like thinking about winning a soul or like sharing

  328. Jesus, like we don't stop when you've hit the first obstacle,

  329. like you don't stop because it's difficult.

  330. You don't stop because of the door shut.

  331. You find another way to get them in the presence of Jesus.

  332. You know, sometimes the first step, and I will gladly say the

  333. first step is not invite them to church because you are the

  334. church. You invite them to yourself and

  335. you say, why don't you come over and hang out?

  336. Why don't you have a block party?

  337. I was so bummed during the, the, the, the community week at life

  338. groups that it was 31° high on my day to do my community night

  339. because I'm like, I'm putting inflatables out.

  340. I want the whole neighborhood to show up.

  341. Amen. And they, they, they get around

  342. the people, which is the church and then they're open to go.

  343. Man, wow, I, I, I really appreciate what you said or that

  344. was a light. I never seen it that way before.

  345. Thanks for loving me. You treat me better than my

  346. family does like, and then all of a sudden like I'll be and

  347. they start coming together and realizing there's so much power

  348. and being the body of Christ. That makes sense.

  349. But we we give up to like, well, I invite them out.

  350. It's like, what do you invite them into?

  351. Are you inviting them into your life?

  352. Or you say we'll come down to a service.

  353. You notice the very beginning, the message.

  354. I said I was really excited to have this getting the people.

  355. I didn't say I was really excited that people were coming

  356. to church. There's a big difference.

  357. Like we can have a crowd of people to come here and go great

  358. job preaching and they do the same thing.

  359. It's like heaven has to get into us.

  360. Like the the power of God and the president of the Holy Spirit

  361. of God to, to be changed by, by the word of God, to just be a, a

  362. vessel like empty, like I'm the clay and you're the Potter.

  363. Just mold me and shape me Jesus. Like that's what we're talking

  364. about. Verse 5 when they saw when Jesus

  365. saw their faith, somebody say their faith.

  366. Yeah. What?

  367. It wasn't to paralyze man's faith.

  368. I mean, I, I'd love to know if that guy actually wanted to get

  369. healed. Right, I mean, he's like, don't

  370. take me. No, he's just like the grumpy

  371. grandpa and you're like, no, you're going to you need

  372. healing, brother. Who knows, maybe he got yelled

  373. at by the grumpy paralyzed guy. He's like, you know, I'm just

  374. going to get you to Jesus. Like who knows exactly right.

  375. But Jesus saw their faith. This is all the friends that

  376. were carrying him and stood around him and he said to the

  377. paralyzed man's son, your sins are forgiven.

  378. Is there any greater gift you could ever get at all of

  379. eternity than your sins being forgiven?

  380. I mean, what a gift of Jesus. That man received heaven that

  381. day. There's a part of him that was

  382. resurrected from the dead that day.

  383. There's there's a part of him that's ever changed and eternity

  384. was given to him. So Jesus recognized that these

  385. bold faith and their love for this person that's compassion

  386. was worthy just to say I am going to heal you from your

  387. sins. And what you get real is about

  388. Jesus where Jesus is heaven is that they're, they're

  389. synonymous. Like he's the he is the one that

  390. can only give you heaven. He is heaven, He is perfect, He

  391. is righteous. And so you see this in the Bible

  392. in John 638 So sure, I have come down from some of Jesus himself,

  393. for I've come down from where you have come down from heaven.

  394. He was already in heaven and he gave up all the riches, all the

  395. glory, all the power, and he humbled himself and clothed

  396. himself into humanity, wrapped himself in the flesh.

  397. He says not to do my will, but to the will of him who what the

  398. will of him has sent me. That is the that is the perfect

  399. picture of what looks like to heaven.

  400. Get in your life, by the way. Well, it's no longer my will,

  401. but it's the will of God in my life.

  402. There's this deep desire and longing to please the Father and

  403. do his work and do his ways because you've been radically

  404. changed and he is the son has given you life you don't

  405. deserve. And you humbly say Lord,

  406. whatever you want me to do, yes and Amen.

  407. That blank contract, right? You sign the bottom and you put

  408. it out in front of God and say whatever, you're right, I'm

  409. going to go do that is what it looks like for heaven to be

  410. inside of you. And this is what Jesus, he came

  411. to our world to bring heaven to us.

  412. And this is the mindset these friends have.

  413. And there's maybe a lot of reasons for it.

  414. It's all speculation, right? Like why had this mindset?

  415. Because everybody else just pressed in, but they decided to

  416. stop and bring this person to Jesus.

  417. Their mindset was this, if I can just get the paralyzed man into

  418. the presence of Jesus, because I know that Jesus can actually

  419. heal this man, I, I know Jesus can change his life.

  420. I, I, I know they don't need more religion.

  421. Amen. I know in our world, we, we

  422. don't need to give more people a list of rules and what not to

  423. do. We don't need to say, well,

  424. here's how you measure up, keep up your good deeds, pray, chant,

  425. meditate, show up, read the Bible, pray.

  426. Like, yes, some of those are good things, but that's not the

  427. point. The point is to to be with

  428. Jesus, that he will be our God and we will be with him.

  429. That's the greatest promise of heaven, Amen, is that we're in

  430. the presence of God and these men just recognize they knew

  431. where Jesus was. There's the peace of heaven,

  432. there's the healing of heaven, there's the forgiveness and

  433. there's freedom of heaven. What the world does not need for

  434. us to do is to give more like good advice or, or pep talks or

  435. that boys, what it really needs is the mercy and grace and

  436. freedom delivered through Jesus and the Gospel.

  437. That's what the world's dying for, literally dying for.

  438. There's so much depression, there's so much pain that

  439. they're, they're lost. There's no footing.

  440. There's, there's no, there's no rock to stand on and they're

  441. wandering and you get to show them Jesus.

  442. So we need to get people in the presence of Jesus, like to get a

  443. word from the word like this man, he got a word from Jesus.

  444. Son, your sins are forgiven. That's a good word, Amen.

  445. How many guys had that word before that?

  446. That's just like ever changing all eternity.

  447. The word you hear from Jesus and and you just need something from

  448. Jesus and he always knows what to say.

  449. I mean, he's a healer, sick, the living hope, the freedom from

  450. sin. And here's the thing, you got to

  451. get people in the presence of Jesus, even if you have to do

  452. extreme things to get people to Jesus.

  453. Some of us have to. I mean, he makes it.

  454. What's crazy. I could never be a missionary.

  455. I can never, I could never, I could never.

  456. It's like, what do you mean you could never?

  457. Like if God asks you to do something extreme, are you not

  458. so willing to do it? Is did did Satan call us to do

  459. that? Right?

  460. Like you could never do this or I could never leave life group.

  461. I could never preach the gospel. I can never share.

  462. I can never pray in public. I hear all these things all the

  463. time. I'm like, why not?

  464. If God is willing, we should be too.

  465. Amen. To tear the roof off to remove

  466. obstacles, you know, I love the front door is blocked and they

  467. go around, they tear a hole in the ceiling.

  468. And here's the point. Compassion doesn't wait for it

  469. to be easy. Compassion always makes a way.

  470. Compassion always makes a way. You realize about life is if you

  471. give up on people, you give up on the on the belief in the hope

  472. and being part of the story that may change their life.

  473. If you write somebody out of of your life, which is so sad to

  474. see all the time, I'm never going to talk to them again.

  475. It's so dramatic, by the way, like so selfish and we cut

  476. people out instead of crossing lines to bring them in.

  477. It's about compassion. Amen.

  478. Compassion does what's not easy. I had this shirt in that when I

  479. was half the man I used to be. It was a medium.

  480. You don't want to wear it. I'll, I can if you want to look

  481. like Tommy Boy. Chris Farley coming up here.

  482. I had this shirt and it said awkward is awesome.

  483. Awkward is awesome. It was about sharing the gospel

  484. because oh, we don't share it. We don't bring it up.

  485. It just makes it weird. Well, thank you, Jesus that

  486. somebody got a little weird for me.

  487. Thank you, Jesus that he got a little weird for us.

  488. Like it. It's just awesome to to change

  489. the culture and it takes like one person to change the

  490. culture. It really does.

  491. Like, I know it's like all these people never listen to us that

  492. have you tried? Have you tried?

  493. I mean, it's just like, have we made like fictitious persecution

  494. to stop us from being the man and woman God's call us to be?

  495. Like, why are we so timid to not just be a little more awkward?

  496. The world is looking pretty awkward to me, by the way.

  497. You got people dressing like whatever and things like this.

  498. And like, they're, they're willing.

  499. They're willing. And I, I, I think as Christians,

  500. like maybe we just stand up a little bit.

  501. Amen, just go little awkward the gospel, just bring it up and

  502. maybe you barf it up and it's weird and you tried and you're

  503. like, hey, man, sorry, that was the most terrible presentation

  504. of the gospel ever, but man, God would probably use it.

  505. God has I I don't know how many people have led to Christ.

  506. It's got to be in the hundreds. If not, that means a lot.

  507. And I've had some terrible presentations of the gospel and

  508. thank God it's not me that saves people.

  509. Amen. You're like, well, I can never

  510. do what you do. Oh, you could you're seeing my

  511. thousandth attempt, right? Like you're, you're seeing,

  512. you're seeing experience. But here's here's what

  513. compassion does. The hope of heaven pushes you

  514. past fear. It pushes you past rejection.

  515. It pushes you back past making people happy.

  516. It pushes you past being too busy.

  517. It pushes you past self centeredness.

  518. It just pushes pushes you back from following your dreams and

  519. not God because you see people exactly where they're at.

  520. Compassion finds a way to get other people in the presence of

  521. Jesus. Go to verse 6 is going to kind

  522. of do the antithesis of these these friends.

  523. So there's now some teachers of the law.

  524. These are the educated religious kind of teacher pastor like

  525. people in that generation. They were sitting there.

  526. So these people were in the room.

  527. These people took up space to criticize what other people

  528. should mean. They're getting healed and

  529. they're thinking to themselves, why does this fellow talk like

  530. that? He's blaspheming.

  531. Who can forgive sins but God alone?

  532. And they're mad because, like, this guy's claiming to be God,

  533. so he's a blasphemer because he's saying he is God.

  534. And immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this is what

  535. they were thinking in their hearts.

  536. It should be humbling, scary and exciting all at the same time

  537. that Jesus knows your thoughts and I'm the ones in your mind,

  538. the ones in your heart like the deeper things.

  539. And Jesus responds to those idle words in their hearts and he

  540. says this out loud. And he said to them to their

  541. absolute shock, why are you thinking these things?

  542. Can you imagine Jesus say that to you?

  543. What things Jesus, he says, which is easier to say this

  544. paralyzed man, your sins are forgiven or to say get up, take

  545. your mat and walk. But I want you to know, look at

  546. this is the point. He's going to use this as a

  547. lesson. He's going to teach them

  548. something. He wants them to know that the

  549. Son of man has what authority on earth to forgive sins.

  550. Everything he does from here on out is to remind them and to

  551. show them that he's the boss, that he has all authority to do

  552. whatever he wants to do, including forgiving sins.

  553. How do you guys know just that one word of Jesus can change

  554. everything? How do you guys know that?

  555. I mean, you look at all of the gospels, right?

  556. And, and you sleep on that awesome pillow.

  557. I got to find out what that pillow's like in heaven.

  558. Like I want that pillow and the bomb of that boat and the storms

  559. raging. The disciples are rowing.

  560. Nothing happened. He just goes up there and

  561. they're all freaking out about faith and he says peace be still

  562. over nature and just OK boys, hope you learned something and

  563. goes back to sleep. He says Lazarus come forth and

  564. Lazarus comes out. He says that the lady caught in

  565. adultery as everyone to stone her there draws a line to sand

  566. and he he probably wrote the name of all their, you know,

  567. mistresses and other sins in the past and they walk away and

  568. Jesus says neither do I condemn you.

  569. That's hard to compassionate. Amen.

  570. Like you, you sinned against the holy God.

  571. You've lived a life of cold bakery.

  572. You look nothing like God. But the God, the universe has

  573. enough grace to get down the sand and tell you, I love you.

  574. I don't condemn you go and sin no more.

  575. So she's not trying not to sin because she's trying to God's

  576. approval. She's trying to not sin because

  577. she knows how much God loves her.

  578. That's the grace of God. And by that word, she has

  579. changed. I'm on the cross.

  580. We'll sure we'll talk about this next week.

  581. It is finished that sin is finished, that the debt's been

  582. paid, that every wrong is nailed to the cross and Jesus has paid

  583. the wrath for our sin and is con conquered our sin and is done.

  584. What about this today you lose me on paradise.

  585. In paradise, potentially the first person that goes to heaven

  586. with Jesus, Jesus dies and he's like, yeah, you're a little bit

  587. behind me. You got here.

  588. And the only way that that man got into heaven because the

  589. thing about the first person to go into paradise with Jesus,

  590. he's a man that looks nothing like God, the least likely

  591. person, the the biggest Sinner, the person that was being

  592. crucified because he's a thief, a robber, just the most like

  593. ridiculous person in the society.

  594. And Jesus says to debuting in paradise because he has faith.

  595. And the only way you got in is because Jesus said he could come

  596. in. Amen, his authority to let

  597. people in to heaven. And so that's the point.

  598. All these are authority. No one else has the authority

  599. but Jesus. And so he says, son, your sins

  600. are forgiven. Only one person can do that.

  601. And I know we there's a lot of like methods like I'm a good

  602. person or I try and I measure up and there's this other thing.

  603. There's no other God and there's no other way to heaven but

  604. Jesus. It's just is what it is.

  605. He's the only one that has the authority to declare your sins

  606. done halfway through 10 verse 10.

  607. So he said to the man, so he's already kind of chewing on these

  608. religious leaders. So he turns around with

  609. authority. He says to the man, the

  610. paralyzed guy, he said, tell you get up, take your mat and go

  611. home. And he reiterates it.

  612. He got up, he took his mat, He walked out in full view of them

  613. all. And the reason he's riding this

  614. over and over again is because they want to make it very clear

  615. that you know that Jesus has the authority not only to forgive

  616. sins, but also to heal people. This amaze everyone that and

  617. they praise God saying we have never seen anything like this.

  618. That's how you know, it's a good day at church, Amen.

  619. Long as it's not like snakes come out of stage, right?

  620. We've never seen anything like this.

  621. But you've never seen the power of God, man.

  622. I've never seen Tim like that before.

  623. Like let's because Tim is different, Amen.

  624. There's a Holy Spirit living in Tim.

  625. There's a difference in his life.

  626. It is amazing that when you think about the miracle, the

  627. miracle didn't just happen for the purpose of the paralyzed

  628. man, but the miracle actually happened for the crowd.

  629. Like the purpose was that they know that Jesus has authority.

  630. And so he said, I'm going to heal this paralyzed man.

  631. And so he gets up and walks. He rolls up his bed and walks

  632. out the crowd. Nobody can mistake the fact that

  633. Jesus in his word and his voice had authority over human nature

  634. and flesh in the Spirit of God. It's pretty amazing if you think

  635. about for the respect of the friends that sometimes when you

  636. carry others that that not only they receive a miracle, but

  637. other people see a miracle. You know, when you have enough

  638. compassion to walk long enough with somebody in the season and

  639. it to be the person that that God let you kind of cross the

  640. like a major milestone with them, their life begins to

  641. change. Like you see somebody that once

  642. was an alcoholic and you keep praying and you keep having

  643. compassion. You don't like just cast about

  644. your life and you serve people, even though it's hard and they

  645. walk on you and it doesn't work and it's they have less

  646. maturity. I get it, you know, and you care

  647. for them, but then you see Jesus change your life out of a moment

  648. of just your humility and just grinding it out, which is behind

  649. the scenes. Nobody recognizes it's not very

  650. sexy. That's ministry, Amen.

  651. And you do that and then all of a sudden you see that their life

  652. changes. All of a sudden, every person

  653. that meets that person from now on, they are declaring a miracle

  654. of God. Man, I used to be.

  655. Aren't you the alcoholic guy? Aren't you that guy that lived

  656. like that? Aren't you that person that

  657. you're so bitter? Aren't you the person that hated

  658. all that? Aren't you that abuser?

  659. Aren't you that real mean person?

  660. Yeah, but Jesus changed my life. And every person from here on

  661. forth, they're declaring the miracle to the crowd in their

  662. life. That that's what you get to play

  663. a part of. And when you if you give up

  664. because it's too hard, you're giving up on the miracle, not

  665. for them, but for others because their testimonies also shapes

  666. the next person. There's a very amazing verse in

  667. the Bible. And I could probably preach this

  668. verse like for the next year, but it's Proverbs 11/30.

  669. It says this is I'll do KJ to be on this one.

  670. But he that wins the souls is wise.

  671. The question I'll pose to you and you can answer this probably

  672. a billion ways, but what is the wisdom required to win a soul?

  673. What's the wisdom? Because here's the thing, you

  674. can go to church and know everything you want to know

  675. about God. I got a lot of friends that,

  676. that know a lot of things about the Bible, but they don't have

  677. any wisdom. They, they, they know scripture

  678. just like the Pharisees or maybe like even Satan himself, but

  679. they don't have any ability to help anybody else see Jesus

  680. there. There's, there's wisdom to it's

  681. just not head knowledge. It's just like, well, I know the

  682. Romans road or I know the part of the Gospel.

  683. OK, But the wisdom, what's the actual wisdom?

  684. I'll just give you some thoughts just right out of this, this

  685. story we saw. Here's some wisdom #1 the first

  686. thing about wisdom is to see the miracle before it happens.

  687. That's wisdom. It's the wisdom to look at

  688. somebody's life and to see the potential.

  689. It's the wisdom to recognize that they're not just an

  690. alcoholic, they're a son or daughter.

  691. They're king. They're, they're not too far

  692. gone for God's grace. That's the wisdom.

  693. The wisdom to see the version of them that God so desperately

  694. wants to have in their life. That's what that's what the

  695. prodigal father is doing, by the way.

  696. He's at the he's looking at the window waiting for the sons and

  697. daughters to come home and he runs to them because you

  698. recognize that there's parts of people that are worth redeeming.

  699. Amen. That's that's wisdom.

  700. It's wisdom to look at maybe your prodigal daughter or son or

  701. a family member. And it takes wisdom not to live

  702. in judgement or to cast stones or to be like, well, I'm not

  703. going to invite them anymore. It takes wisdom to serve and

  704. love people. Amen.

  705. And this is where it kind of gets wrong.

  706. But those people, they saw the potential in the paralyzed man.

  707. They knew that if I could give him to Jesus, that that boy is

  708. probably going to walk again. That's, that's wisdom.

  709. And here's the thing, The only people who are not surprised

  710. that the miracle happened in that man's life were the people

  711. that carried him to Jesus. They were not surprised.

  712. Everybody else is like, oh, this is so amazing.

  713. And the guys on the roof are like, yeah, we told you, boom,

  714. high 5 chest pump, right? They knew, they knew.

  715. And if you're a minister, right, like you have the heart of

  716. heaven and like the things of God, you know, like you've seen

  717. the glory of God and you just want to get somebody to Jesus.

  718. Second part of wisdom is to thank God for people who carried

  719. you. Like none of us are self-made.

  720. Somebody prayed us to heaven. Somebody invited us to heaven.

  721. Thank you, Tim, for pointing to the man that prayed you to

  722. heaven. Exactly right.

  723. You know, for all eternity you'll be like thank you, Dan

  724. for not giving up on me. There's so many times as they

  725. could have done that and you know that.

  726. But the grace of God, Amen, that somebody prayed for you.

  727. Somebody invited you. Somebody, somebody, somebody

  728. made a room for you. They didn't say come to church.

  729. I saved you a seat. They said come to my family.

  730. I'm not going to give up on you. Be a part of my life.

  731. I care about you like come to my table.

  732. I I had a man in my life. He said, Sean, I will never let

  733. you fail. Wow.

  734. When I was a teenager, he was like a dad to me.

  735. Like no matter what happens, as far as you run, no matter what

  736. happens, I'll always love you because he had been down the

  737. road. He he knew how how how terrible

  738. his life was a far from God. He just knew that Gracie got so

  739. good. He still tells me, Sean, if you

  740. make the wrong decision, there's a couple options.

  741. But if you make the wrong decision, guess what, I'll still

  742. love you. That's a good man of God.

  743. Amen. It's just like we have to thank

  744. God for people that carried us. So here's my challenge for you.

  745. We're getting the Easter week right?

  746. And what greater thing could you do is to get out your phone and

  747. just text or call that person in your life if they're still here

  748. and say thank you so much for investing in me because it

  749. wasn't for you. I was not where I am today.

  750. That's a great phone call, by the way.

  751. Thank you, Jesus. If you just text him, say hey,

  752. you might even remember he's been so long, right?

  753. Or thank you Dad for put putting all the time is then go in vain.

  754. Or maybe they're not here anymore and you can call up

  755. their son or daughter or family member and say, can I just tell

  756. you a little bit about your old man because your dad was a hero

  757. to me and just just honor and brag on heaven.

  758. And maybe there's nobody you connected to and just go tell

  759. somebody else. And let me remind you, this guy

  760. named bitch like I I had nothing in my life, but I had this guy

  761. that loved me for no reason at all.

  762. I had, I mean, there's no reason to invest in shopping tree, but

  763. he loved me and he cared for me and he opened his house to me

  764. and he did all these amazing things.

  765. He's still one of the greatest friends of my life.

  766. He's never given up on me and all those stupid things I've

  767. done in my life. He still loves me.

  768. Amen. The grace of God.

  769. So they have the wisdom. Know that you weren't yourself

  770. made. Who brought you there?

  771. Listen, sometimes God moves in someone else's life because you

  772. refuse to give up on them. You refuse to quit.

  773. You know, it may be years. I mean, there's a lot of moms

  774. and grandmas and, and grandparents have prayed for

  775. families for years for faith to take effect.

  776. So The thing is, the miracle wasn't just in the man's life.

  777. The miracle was in their faith. I don't know how it works in

  778. God's sovereignty and plan. I don't know.

  779. I don't, I don't even care. But their faith played a part of

  780. the story. Amen.

  781. I would like to think that if you're a man or woman of God,

  782. that God does more around you just because you were there,

  783. because the environment and culture and the humility and the

  784. holiness and the honor you bring to God in your faith, that just

  785. God just allows the Holy Spirit to move through to other

  786. people's lives and touches people.

  787. I'd like to think that God does that.

  788. He does it right here in the Scripture.

  789. The last part of wisdom, and like I said there, there is 100

  790. more or if not millions more wisdom.

  791. If you don't need the miracle, make room for someone else who

  792. does. That room was full of Pharisees.

  793. There was somebody who need to get healed and they couldn't get

  794. to Jesus. And I was thinking about this

  795. story. How many people would have been

  796. healed if Jesus would have been more accessible because it

  797. wasn't full of people take up dead weight critics instead of

  798. worshipping Jesus. What kind of revival could have

  799. started in that house if it wasn't full of critics?

  800. It was actually full of faithful believers and then saw a

  801. paralyzed man. They said, hey guys, part the

  802. way somebody needs to get to Jesus.

  803. So there's something about those friends that we have to start

  804. understanding. Those friends had one of three

  805. options. One, they already were healed by

  806. Jesus themselves because heal people heal people.

  807. They just do. So if Jesus has touched you, you

  808. cannot help but to stop and help someone else get to Jesus

  809. because you already been touched by him. 2 They're either really,

  810. really wise like Simeon or Anne or the OR the OR the the wise

  811. men. They just knew Scripture enough

  812. to know that's the Messiah and I don't even need to be touched

  813. from the Messiah because I know what he can do already.

  814. So I'm going to take this band with me.

  815. Could have been that. It could have been that they

  816. already heard the stories. There's other people that

  817. already been touched by Jesus. They've been coming down the

  818. roads for weeks and months or days and they heard about this

  819. Jesus guy and how much he did and what he did for this person.

  820. And they just thought to themselves, well, if he could do

  821. it for them, he could do it for me and sure, he could do it for

  822. him. So let's just grab him.

  823. There's only three options. Amen.

  824. It wasn't like some experiment like, well, let's go out of our

  825. way and see if this works. Nobody is that determined unless

  826. they know full of faith. Is there faith that healed them?

  827. It's just thing about making room for people, right?

  828. Like making room for the grace of God and the forgiveness of

  829. God and the compassion of God and the love of God.

  830. I'll tell you what it looks like.

  831. How many guys went to the Rolls Parade 2015 November.

  832. You guys remember that? Let me go down the Rolls Parade.

  833. All right. Hope you had a better experience

  834. than I did. I end up we we've been up with

  835. Josh and Carrie Cubbly, Chuck and Jill.

  836. We end up on Pershing and Maine, which is right in the corner of

  837. the Union Station. It's in we're like between the

  838. Marriott and the Union Station and we're in this like cyclone

  839. of death. You want to call it?

  840. OK. And and we're like in this, I

  841. don't know, we're up by the gate, but they just get pushed

  842. with the crowd. And there's this Hispanic gang

  843. and they jumped and crushed the police car completely down to

  844. nothing. Just the whole thing crushed

  845. some dude had like a heart attack and Diamond trying to get

  846. him to some medics. And it was like crazy.

  847. And we were like in the crowd like, yeah, I've been 30 years,

  848. right? And this picture is what we saw.

  849. This is it. We saw confetti, some smoke,

  850. some buildings. And we're there for like 8 hours

  851. and there was like 15 porta potties for 2 million people.

  852. You know what I mean? The lines forever long it it it

  853. one time I actually saw a baseball healing balloon float

  854. by, you know, the size of a car just like float above the heads.

  855. And that's what we saw. You know, the reason that this

  856. is all we saw, look at the picture is because everybody

  857. else picked up the most important person in their life

  858. and pulling their shoulders. That's what you do.

  859. Like we'd have a view because they said, son, I'm not going to

  860. be able to see it, but I want you to see the miracle team of

  861. 2015. I want you to a glimpse of the

  862. team that made it with like through all the crazy endings.

  863. And it should have been that way.

  864. It was like angels in the outfield kind of thing, right?

  865. And they mail away and everybody's so excited.

  866. They put their kids up on their shoulders so you can see a

  867. glimpse. We didn't see.

  868. It didn't matter. We saw.

  869. The kids saw. Amen.

  870. There's just something is a church.

  871. If you get just low and you're like, now I'm going to put some

  872. of my shoulders so they can see Jesus and be a slave to Jesus is

  873. what James calls himself so other people can see the glory

  874. of God. So it looks like our church to

  875. be part of heaven being us. Amen.

  876. So we talked about Easter Sunday.

  877. I'm like, don't be surprised if you carry somebody on your

  878. shoulders next Sunday. They come here that two things

  879. will happen. One, that they'll see a miracle

  880. because God is going to move. And two, that they very well and

  881. be the miracle themselves. That's good, man.

  882. You can play part of that story. We all can, Amen.

  883. Just bring somebody to see the power of God on display.

  884. It's Easter, baby, He's risen. What greater news could we ever

  885. share? And for somebody in that room,

  886. the many people are going to hear, son or daughter, your sins

  887. are forgiven. So Father, come before you.

  888. We thank you so much, God, that heaven is in US and that we have

  889. the ability just to simply play a part of the story.

  890. God give us the wisdom of winning souls as Jesus follows

  891. the house. Today I pray for great wisdom

  892. with great patience, with great love and compassion that our

  893. church would go out and be the hands of feet in Jesus, in the

  894. highways and hedges, in the hard places, in the difficult places,

  895. in the places that most people won't want to go.

  896. The gospel will take effect and miracles will happen because our

  897. church wants to serve with compassion those that need to

  898. get to Jesus and help our church to tear the roof off our city

  899. for you. I pray for one group, people in

  900. the house, and that's those of you that say, you know what, I

  901. need the miracle of God today. There's probably somebody in

  902. this house that showed up and you've yet to be saved by Jesus.

  903. You've yet to hear the word son or daughter.

  904. Your sins have been forgiven and today the Bible says the day of

  905. salvation. If you need new life in Jesus

  906. that day, the Bible says he will save you for your sin.

  907. He will cast your sins before the east in the West.

  908. He will make you new and change an inside out because he's full

  909. of love and compassion. Even at your worst, God is

  910. always as best. And so today if you need Jesus

  911. not be looking around like it weird to call you out, but you

  912. need Jesus. We just raise your hand high in

  913. this place. I need a relationship with

  914. Christ today. I'm not going to walk out of

  915. here without Jesus. I need heaven and Jesus and they

  916. come together as a package. How many guys does I need Jesus

  917. today across this space? If that's you, I'm not going to

  918. call and make it weird. Let's leave through a prayer.

  919. The prayer does not save you but your heart towards him to say,

  920. Father God, thank you so much for Jesus.

  921. Thank you so much for loving me that you send your Son with

  922. authority to cast out my sin and to love me deeply.

  923. God thank you for those that carried me to you today.

  924. God I give you my life, I surrender to you.

  925. I will live for your glory and Share your story.

  926. I praise in Jesus name and the church said Amen.

  927. Give it up to Jesus. Amen.
