  1. Happy Easter. Real life, man.

  2. Today is just an amazing day watching heaven get in the

  3. people I I love. My favorite part of this morning

  4. is when we baptized Tyler Adams and then somebody who said yes

  5. to and somebody said dunk him again.

  6. That's what good friends are for, right?

  7. That's awesome. Yeah.

  8. We're not into baptizing twice, but we do for fun.

  9. We'll store you in right here, man.

  10. One of these days, I'm going to do a cannonball into this this

  11. this baptistry. I'm telling you, man, it's

  12. tempting right now. So I mean, I'm excited for what

  13. God's been doing. I I believe for those guys get

  14. baptized. We're so proud of you.

  15. I believe not today. What do we got today?

  16. Holly coming out here? How many how many 13 people get

  17. baptized all throughout the day. So give it up for those 13

  18. people. Come on.

  19. She's the play by play. I'm like, OK, who, who's in and

  20. out, you know, but man, it's super exciting and heaven just

  21. got to these people and it's cool to watch because the

  22. stories of people that are getting baptized, they're just,

  23. it's not like, oh, they made a decision last minute.

  24. There is a lifetime of inviting and God's mercy and grace and

  25. then just seeing other people living out and make decisions.

  26. So it's exciting. Just so personal for me as a

  27. pastor to watch this. So excited for you guys.

  28. I'd be a minist not to thank your crew today that heavens got

  29. into for a long time now making this this happen.

  30. Our church has been portable for 8 1/2 years and we're in the

  31. middle of raising funds for first permanent space, Amen.

  32. And we're excited about that. But with that said, we have an

  33. amazing team that makes this place happen.

  34. And today we have the largest serve team in real life history,

  35. about 122 people serving today on Easter.

  36. Come on, somebody. So thank you guys.

  37. It has not happened on accident. And I know if you walked in,

  38. you're like, do this every week. We've been doing this every week

  39. for 8 1/2 years because of Jesus, Amen.

  40. And the life changes. You just can't put a price tag

  41. on it. It is exciting to watch and be a

  42. part of and get to serve alongside you guys.

  43. So thank you guys so much. Well, today we're going to dive

  44. in and my prayer has just been that the resurrection power of

  45. Jesus, that heaven would get into you today.

  46. Maybe you've known Jesus for a long time and you've kind of

  47. been going to church. But today I believe that

  48. something's going to stir inside you.

  49. Or maybe you got invited out and you've been to church in a long

  50. time or maybe ever. And you're like, man, I'm not so

  51. sure about this. And I pray that you would just

  52. see and experience the resurrection power of God today.

  53. You know, you think about the power of Jesus.

  54. It really kind of echoes throughout all of eternity.

  55. And you might have experienced some of those echoes.

  56. Barry kind of mentioned that you, you might have the rumors

  57. of a changed life or somebody who who just miraculously

  58. changed because they they heard about Jesus and life changed

  59. happened or there's something that's unexpected you couldn't

  60. explain. And he's like, man, what's that?

  61. And you don't really know. This is the power of Jesus.

  62. Maybe you've heard the rumors or maybe you've seen it yourself.

  63. I know for some of you who grew up in a family kind of like Bart

  64. Miller that I can only imagine. And they get that dad that's

  65. just hard and almost abusive and it's just angry And all of a

  66. sudden they meet Jesus and their life changed forever.

  67. Amen. You just seen it with your own

  68. eyes. Maybe seen that marriage where

  69. the there's an alcoholic and and there's infidelity and it's it's

  70. just there's no way it's going to work, but Jesus Amen.

  71. And it just comes together. These are all things I've seen

  72. and and be a part of the story. I mean, to see people that are

  73. walking through hard season of loss or suffering or bad

  74. diagnosis and there's the peace of God is on their life.

  75. Just amazing. You've experienced that.

  76. And how about for you today, for you guys today, how do you guys

  77. have experienced the resurrection and power of Jesus?

  78. Will you just let me know today you've experienced that?

  79. Come on somebody. I just believe if we're to like

  80. just put like a microphone here and just like start a line and

  81. say, can you just come up and just share the goodness of God's

  82. grace in your life? I just believe we'd be here for

  83. weeks and weeks and weeks talking about all the things

  84. that God has done, what you even know he's done because he is so

  85. good. Amen.

  86. And today I just want you to get a sense of how big God is, how

  87. much he loves us and the power of Jesus in our lives and

  88. towards us. And you might sense there's

  89. something out there like there's something different about these

  90. Christians or about what who God is and this God of the Bible.

  91. There's a lady any followed Artemis 2, by the way, Artemis

  92. 2, that's a rocket. Oh, Lord nerd alert.

  93. Artemis 2, right? Yeah, they're going a little

  94. farther. Apollo 13 went around the moon.

  95. The furthest they're ever going to go.

  96. That's tomorrow. There's a lady named Christina

  97. Cook, and she's on Artemis 2. And she looked down at Earth

  98. from space and she said this quote.

  99. I'll never be insecure again. That, that that's, that's an

  100. echo of the resurrection power God.

  101. That's a picture of the creation of God.

  102. You just see what God has made and you're like, wow, like how

  103. majestic, how powerful. I mean, who has put this

  104. together? And I'm just a small piece, this

  105. amazing puzzle. And so today I want you to see

  106. just some of the echoes of the resurrection power and have it

  107. infiltrate your life today. And you're going to see one of

  108. the first men, if not the first man in the Bible who recognized

  109. that Jesus had resurrection power.

  110. And it's John the Baptist and it's in John chapter one, verse

  111. 29. This is what John the Baptist

  112. says. He's the forerunner.

  113. He looks because the disciples are asking this guy, as he

  114. looks, he says, behold The Who? The Lamb of God.

  115. Yeah, that that's that's the Lamb of God who's going to take

  116. away the sins of the world. Remember, those other disciples

  117. were jealous that Jesus is baptizing people and his

  118. disciples are baptizing people and all.

  119. He's doing better than us. And John's like, dude, you don't

  120. miss. You're missing out, man.

  121. That is the Lamb of God who's going to sacrifice himself and

  122. take away the sins of the world. Now I don't know what was going

  123. through John the Baptist's mind. Those amazing scripture, Isaiah

  124. 53, seven that says he is a is a prophecy towards Jesus.

  125. So Jesus was oppressed and afflicted, but you're going to

  126. see that today. We're talking about the cross.

  127. It says yeah, he did not open his mouth.

  128. He was led like a what? There's that lamb to the

  129. slaughter. It has a sheep before it shears

  130. his silence. So he did not open his mouth.

  131. John the Baptist recognized something very special about

  132. Jesus. He recognized that Jesus was

  133. born to die. He recognized that this lamb

  134. that God has sent his one and only son, was going to be the

  135. perfect permanent sacrifice for our sins.

  136. You have to understand that in this Old Testament system,

  137. that'd be shedding a blood for mission of sins.

  138. They'd raise the sheep outside the temple as temple sheep and

  139. they would just raise them with the purpose that they'd be one

  140. day they'd be sacrificing the altar to cover people's sin and

  141. atone for their sin. And John the Baptist recognized

  142. that that is the Lamb of God that is being raised up to lay

  143. his life down to take away our sin.

  144. He's ultimately saying that this man is going to shame.

  145. Shame. This man is going to end the

  146. curse. This man is going to kill sin

  147. itself and be death to sin and be made a life to God through

  148. Jesus. Now, he probably didn't know

  149. about the whole resurrection story, but he had an echo of the

  150. resurrection. He had part of the power of God

  151. in his mind. You Fast forward about three

  152. years in the Bible and John the Baptist had predicted this and

  153. three years later, Jesus ends up in the Passion week.

  154. And that's what we celebrate really this Easter, Thursday

  155. night, Jesus is in the garden. If you remember the story, Jesus

  156. goes to the garden. He has disciples pray in groups

  157. and he goes further in begins to pray.

  158. Disciples fall asleep and Jesus wakes him up and Jesus begins to

  159. pray. And during these moments of

  160. prayer, he's contemplating what is going to happen when he goes

  161. to the cross and it begins to sweat blood.

  162. The Bible says that Jesus tells the Father not but my will be

  163. done, but your will be done, because he knows when he goes to

  164. the cross that the sin of the world is going to crush down on

  165. him and not destroy him. But he'll be afflicted and he'll

  166. be persecuted and he'll bleed out for our sins.

  167. And Jesus knows what's about to happen.

  168. Nobody has a clue what's going on.

  169. And so Jesus gets up and he goes to the disciples.

  170. He says the hour has come. There's a mob that goes into the

  171. garden led by Judas, who betrays Jesus with a kiss for 30 pieces

  172. of silver. Remember when Peter, he gets

  173. fired up, he takes out his own security, which is his sword,

  174. and he starts fighting and cuts off Malchus's ear and Jesus

  175. heals his ear and he says you live by a sword.

  176. He died by a sword. And that's the last time I see

  177. Peter ever use a sword, by the way, because he's replaced it

  178. now with the power of God. And so Jesus walks away from the

  179. garden. By the way, there's a funny part

  180. of the Bible. If you haven't seen the story,

  181. you got to read it this time. The Bible's real.

  182. There's actually a dude that's naked that runs away when the

  183. mob shows up. You guys knew that before.

  184. Come on. So that's how the Bible's real.

  185. Like, nobody else can put that in a story.

  186. But that guy's like, I'm out. And then the disciples, they all

  187. scatter and Jesus goes to a false trial.

  188. He actually ends up at Kaifa's house.

  189. The high priest, his dad shows up as well.

  190. It's almost, I didn't know what to do with Jesus, but they got

  191. to get this done. And so like, hey, you know what,

  192. let's bring him to trial from the Jews.

  193. It's in the middle of the night, like straight middle of the

  194. night. And they had this false trial

  195. and they are questioning Jesus and they slapped Jesus across

  196. the face to be in the mock em. And then Jesus declares that I

  197. am. And they said, oh, you're

  198. blaspheming. And so they accuse him of saying

  199. he's God, which is punishable by death.

  200. But the Jewish people cannot put Jesus to death.

  201. They don't have the power to do that.

  202. So they had to go to the Romans. So they drag Jesus away and they

  203. bring him to Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor.

  204. And this has got to be sometime rural in the morning, probably

  205. 7:00 in the morning on Friday. He shows that they beat down the

  206. door Pontius Pilate. And they say, hey, we want him

  207. to be crucified and killed. And Pontius Pilate, was he done?

  208. And you don't have any power here.

  209. Like, I don't see anything wrong with him.

  210. And he starts asking Jesus, do you realize that the power to

  211. kill you and the power to make you stay alive?

  212. And Jesus looks at him and says, you don't have no power except

  213. for the power I've given you. If I didn't want to be here, I

  214. wouldn't be here, Amen. And he just say silent through

  215. all these accusations. So.

  216. So Pontius Pilot says, well, scourge him.

  217. So there's 40 lashings -1 So 40 they thought would kill

  218. somebody. So let's just do 39 just to ride

  219. at the edge of death. And so they take the kite, 9

  220. tails as leather whip full of glass and shards of bone and

  221. just little pieces of rock. And they whip Jesus.

  222. And you've maybe seen the Passion of the Christ.

  223. And I fully believe if they would have shown what really

  224. happened in the, in the real life, what happened to Jesus,

  225. that movie could not have been shown in theaters.

  226. They had to keep it R rated. But it's really beyond what you

  227. saw in that movie. And he's stripped of his flesh.

  228. The Bible says in Isaiah he wasn't recognizable as a man.

  229. It's how much he was stripped of his flesh.

  230. And they bring it back to Pontius Pilate.

  231. At this point, they put a robe on the purple to mock that he is

  232. a king of the Jews. They take a big crown of thorns

  233. and they press it down his brow. And he stands before this angry

  234. mob of people that want him dead.

  235. And so Pontius Pilate's in this political nightmare.

  236. And so he tells them how he can release one of your prisoners.

  237. It's tradition. Would you want Barabbas or

  238. Jesus? And they thought for sure he

  239. they take Jesus, but they want Barabbas gone.

  240. And so begin to shout, crucify Jesus, crucify him, crucify him

  241. and crucify him. And Pontius Pilate worried that

  242. this mob is going to erupt if he does not kill Jesus.

  243. He washed his hands of the blood of Jesus, and he senses Jesus to

  244. death on a cross. So the story picks up.

  245. This is about 9:00 AM on Friday in Luke 2326.

  246. It says that the soldiers LED Jesus away.

  247. They see Simon of Cyrene, who was on his way in from the

  248. country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind

  249. Jesus. And a large number of people

  250. followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him.

  251. And there was this group of women that had been serving

  252. Jesus, ministering to Jesus, and now falling entitled with Jesus

  253. as way as being really on his way to be crucified.

  254. And they're just beyond emotion, but just staying close to Jesus.

  255. And really all the disciples have left, but these women stay

  256. close all the way through the cross.

  257. Verse 32 says to the other men both criminals were also let out

  258. with him to be executed. How many guys know that the

  259. cross was actually made for the worst of the worst of the worst

  260. for public execution to be put outside the town on the way in

  261. So when people came in they knew it was like if they broke the

  262. law in this city is publicly display of power.

  263. This is when they came to the place called the skull which we

  264. know is Golgotha or Calvary Hill.

  265. They what help me out they crucified him.

  266. The crucifixion was actually it was put together by God himself.

  267. It was given to the Persians. When the Roman took Roman took

  268. Persia, they perfected the art of not killing somebody, but

  269. actually torturing somebody. And so they go to that cross,

  270. and they would stretch his arms out, and they would nail in the

  271. spikes into his wrist and the cross his ankles, and they would

  272. stain him up for the whole world to see.

  273. I just love that in the fullness of time, you can find out in

  274. Galatians when God sent his son that God himself picked the

  275. cross of Calvary. So without dispute, God's love

  276. will be on display to a lost and dying world.

  277. Amen. Wasn't like they took him out

  278. back. They literally hung in front of

  279. the whole world to see. So nobody can dispute the fact

  280. that he was crucified and died. He was mocked on that cross.

  281. I just love it that when humanity was at his worst that

  282. God was at his best, Amen. This is what Jesus does.

  283. He's on the cross alongside 2 criminals, 1 on the right and on

  284. the left. And Jesus the heart of God says

  285. Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing and

  286. they divide it up his clothes and cast lots.

  287. Just unfathomable grace, Amen. The depth of God's love.

  288. These people are spitting on him and mocking him.

  289. They've ripped his beard out that they're hurling insults.

  290. You got that sign above his head.

  291. Here hangs the king of the Jews in Greek, Aramaic and Hebrew, so

  292. everybody know how to mock him. And then his soldiers are

  293. crucifying him. He's struggling to breathe, had

  294. to lift off his legs to get oxygen.

  295. And every breath he struggles and he whispers the word Father.

  296. Forgive them for they know not what they do to actually forgive

  297. the very sins to take away the sins of the world, including the

  298. mockers and the Pharisees and the soldiers that crucified him.

  299. That's the grace of God Amen. It includes every one of our

  300. sins past, present and future. Isaiah 53 five says, but he

  301. being Jesus was pierced for our transgressions.

  302. Talk about the cross. He was crushed for our

  303. iniquities, that crushing of the weight of our sin as we pressed

  304. out on Jesus. It says the punishment that

  305. brought us peace was on Him, and by his wounds we were healed.

  306. Amen. Thank you Jesus.

  307. It's not my work that gets us there.

  308. It's not my ability that gets me to heaven.

  309. It's Jesus work on the cross for me because he loved me.

  310. What kind of love has the Father bestowed on us that he would

  311. send Jesus Mark 1533 At noon, darkness came over the whole

  312. land until 3:00 in the afternoon.

  313. In the At 3:00 in the afternoon, Jesus cried out with a loud

  314. voice. Eloy, Eloy Lama Sabakthanai,

  315. which means my God, my God, why have thou forsaken me?

  316. You think about this moment. This is this is the darkest

  317. moment in the history of humanity.

  318. The skies already dark because God has made it be dark for

  319. three hours and he's on this cross.

  320. And the moment the Father turns his back on the Son, because

  321. there's the Father's holy, the only thing that even goes to

  322. heaven is holy, Amen. And God's primary attribute is

  323. holiness. And so for us to be made free

  324. from sin, somebody has to pay. There's a debt to be paid, a

  325. land be sacrifice. In that moment this is what

  326. happens. The Father turns his back.

  327. And the Bible says in first John 22 that he's a propitiation.

  328. He is a wrath burying sacrifice. So the wrath of God in that

  329. moment in time for all of our sins past, present and future is

  330. literally pushed down and poured out and pressed down on Jesus.

  331. This is why Jesus was sweating blood in the garden, because he

  332. knew he was going to pay for every wrong act from AB and Eve

  333. all the way through the end of humanity.

  334. He was going to carry on that cross.

  335. Amen. This is what Jesus has done for

  336. us. I love this.

  337. When Jesus raised from the dead. Spoiler but when Jesus raised

  338. from the dead is not just a dead man coming to life because we

  339. talked about there's been we know at least six other dead

  340. people have come to life up to this point before Jesus.

  341. It's actually a dead person to sin that's coming to life.

  342. Amen. It's not that Jesus could have

  343. sinned, but the power of sin is now destroyed.

  344. He just come back to life. He come back back to life

  345. resurrected with the power of sin has no power of him to take

  346. away the sins of the world. And John 1928 says later,

  347. knowing that everything had been finished.

  348. All the things are written in Scripture.

  349. I love that you can go back in Scripture and see all the

  350. prophecies that happened If you get a chance to read Psalm 22

  351. and just lead into like the greatest picture of the cross

  352. 1000 years for the cross. And then Jesus said, I am

  353. thirsty and a jar of wine vinegar was there and they

  354. soaked in a sponge on it in it and put the sponge on the stock

  355. of hisop plant and lifted it to Jesus lips.

  356. And that hisop was a symbol of purification.

  357. And it was a symbol that of cleanliness is a symbol of

  358. completion. It it it's a symbol that is paid

  359. in full that that Jesus has wiped away every one of our

  360. sins. And after this happens, the very

  361. next verse of what Jesus said when he received the drink that

  362. Jesus said what help me out. It is it is finished.

  363. And this word in Greek is to tell us I and what's really

  364. amazing, if you, if you look at the word, it means this, it

  365. means paid in full. Paid in full says Hissa Branch.

  366. It's the last prophecy. And they said it is finished to

  367. tell us die and the debt of our sin has received full payment.

  368. The check is cleared, Amen. Jesus did what we could never do

  369. for ourselves. We said it is finished.

  370. What is he talking about? He's saying that sin is

  371. finished, Amen. That that was that was the, that

  372. was the beginning of the end. Like there's no more power sin

  373. that he is rolled away to shame, Amen.

  374. Combination is finished. The curse is broken.

  375. It is amazing to me that that sin entered the world because of

  376. a tree of fruit and that sin would exit the world because of

  377. man that's hung on the tree. It's amazing to think about and

  378. there's so many parallels. I can't even get into Abraham

  379. and Isaac. I can't even get in the very

  380. fact of all the pictures that that that Abraham would believe

  381. that God could raise his son from the dead.

  382. And it's just a few 100 meters away on Mount Moriah where Isaac

  383. would have been sacrificed, where Jesus was sacrificed.

  384. It's just amazing to me like what God has put together.

  385. He says it is finished. Very next version would have

  386. been almost the same breath. Jesus called out a loud voice,

  387. Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.

  388. When he said this, he breathed his last.

  389. There's another version of the gospel where he says he moaned

  390. loudly and he gave up his last breath.

  391. This is how Jesus died on the cross and this earthquake

  392. happened and the earth shook. Creation itself has been

  393. groaning for the resurrection and power of Jesus replied back

  394. with the earth shaking. And then the temple, there's a

  395. big curtain, it's taller than this building.

  396. It's 60 foot high, it's 3 foot thick.

  397. And it separates the the holy of holies from the rest of the

  398. temple. And the only person who can go

  399. back there is a perfectly righteous person which limits it

  400. down very quickly. And it's the high priest.

  401. Once a year they tie a rope around his waist and he'd go in.

  402. And if he had any sin in his heart, in his life at all, he

  403. just dropped dead in the moment in the presence of God.

  404. And what happened when Jesus died on the cross?

  405. And he said it is finished and he gave up his ghost.

  406. The temple curtain was torn from top to bottom, straight down the

  407. middle. And I believe, and I mean this

  408. is speculation, so I'll give it to that.

  409. Bodies believe as Jesus on that cross.

  410. And Jesus fulfilled every part of these prophecies and he made

  411. away, He took away sin that the Father took the top of the curve

  412. and he is tore in half because the presence of God is no longer

  413. contained for perfect people that can show up in his

  414. presence. But now because Jesus made a

  415. way, he took imperfect people and gave him this righteousness

  416. so that the presence and power and provision of God can go out

  417. to all humanity. That's what the Father did.

  418. That's Easter, baby. That's the power of God.

  419. That's a resurrection of Christ. That's what we celebrate every

  420. single Sunday. Verse 24, on the first day of

  421. the week, this is Sunday, very, very early in the morning, the

  422. women took the spices they prepared and went to the tomb.

  423. They couldn't go on Saturday. It was a Sabbath.

  424. But as soon as they could, they win.

  425. And the NBA give this morning to the sunrise a little bit.

  426. My first hour, my first 830 crew was like, yeah, 10:00 is like,

  427. no, I pulled in this parking lot and the sun was coming up and I

  428. was like, man, he is risen. Amen.

  429. I'm pretty sure those women, women were there before the sun

  430. rose that day. It's fast.

  431. They get there. They found the stone rolled away

  432. from the tomb. When they entered, they found

  433. the body, Did not find the body, Lord Jesus.

  434. And when they were wondering what is going on, they couldn't

  435. fathom, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like

  436. lightning stood beside them. These are angels and in their

  437. fright the women bow down their faces to the ground.

  438. But the men said to them, look at this, Why do you look for the

  439. living among the dead? He is not here.

  440. He has risen. Amen.

  441. They had no idea what's going on.

  442. They were, they were wondering like what is still to make sense

  443. to them. And this Angel, look at the next

  444. word. Remember how he told you This

  445. Angel is actually going to quote Jesus.

  446. This is in red letters. The Angel is going to quote what

  447. Jesus already said to them years ago and in their ministry.

  448. He's going to say the Son of Man.

  449. There's a quote must be delivered over the hands of

  450. sinners crucified and on the third day be raised again in the

  451. they said they remembered. Know what's really cool about

  452. this story is that Jesus already planted the echoes of the

  453. resurrection in them before it ever happened.

  454. They, they already knew Jesus already predicted his death

  455. three times. He had told him he was going to

  456. raise him dead 3 different times.

  457. And of course in, in hindsight 2020, we know this, but in their

  458. time they're like, huh, this is unfathomable.

  459. Like they would be crucified like, and they've forgotten.

  460. And the Angel reminds them that this is part of God's plan.

  461. I don't know about you, but have you experienced the echoes of

  462. the resurrection power in your life?

  463. Have you seen that around you? Because you might be like, this

  464. world doesn't make a lot of sense and it is kind of crazy.

  465. The world has just lost its mind, right?

  466. But Jesus, you see this around you like as a pastor, you see

  467. some interesting things. And I've seen a lot of power of

  468. God. And just recently, just about

  469. two weeks ago, there was a man I met with and he, he was an

  470. alcoholic for years. He'd watch some of his family

  471. pass away. He lost his way.

  472. He just turned to the bottle, lost about everything he had in

  473. life. Matter of fact, he's that guy we

  474. talked about a few weeks ago that I went at 3:00 in the

  475. morning at Belton Police station because he needed a pastor and a

  476. chaplain to show up. But I'm not a chaplain of the

  477. Police Department. Thinks a great calling.

  478. It's just not mine. Takes a lot of time and energy

  479. and don't have it. Some of y'all could do it.

  480. Amen. But I showed up down there and

  481. just got to encourage this guy a little bit.

  482. Just plant some seeds. But this man over time he came

  483. clean and end up here at our church.

  484. And a few weeks ago I sat down with him at the Hope Center and

  485. connect the dots. I was like, you're the guy, like

  486. you're the guy that I met with at 3:00 in the morning.

  487. He's like, huh, You know, I was like, it was me, man.

  488. You don't Remember Me, but you, it was me.

  489. He's like, I didn't remember you, but that was crazy.

  490. I said, how in the world did you come out of alcohol and

  491. addiction and have come back to God?

  492. What in the world happened to you?

  493. He said, look, man, I used to go to church all every Sunday.

  494. I used to teach Sunday school class.

  495. I know the Bible was this out by these guys.

  496. I lost my way, but God never gave up on me.

  497. It is the resurrection power of Jesus in his life once again,

  498. Amen. There's a part of him that God

  499. never get on. There's a Holy Spirit inside

  500. him, convicted him of a sin and he just woke up and said I'm

  501. done. Doesn't mean it's perfect, Amen.

  502. But he's living a different path.

  503. What's crazy about it is he now serves on our dream team.

  504. This is a second Sunday serving on our team.

  505. Isn't that crazy? Teaching the Bible, teaching the

  506. Bible. I, I was talking to him and he

  507. would finish every verse I would say.

  508. And I was killing some hard ones out.

  509. Like I'm like, nobody's going to know this verse.

  510. You know, I'm in Revelation 5, I'm back in Psalms.

  511. I mean, I'm over the place. Like there's no way.

  512. And he's pop, pop, pop, pop, pop.

  513. He just lost his way. But God never gave up on him.

  514. A few months ago, I was with a man and he was deciding if he

  515. should file for a divorce and he and his wife had been cheating

  516. on him and just high infidelity, all sorts of stuff, a lot of

  517. situational things that happened and he's broken.

  518. He loves his wife, but he's like, I cannot continue in this.

  519. I said, look, I can't give you direction of what to do, but

  520. I'll pray for God's wisdom on you to make the decision that

  521. the Holy Spirit make it very clear to you what to next.

  522. And so he show up to his wife with divorce papers and said,

  523. hey, I'm I'm out. And she was shocked, absolutely

  524. shocked that he was leaving. And she said, if I have made a

  525. huge mistake, I'm done cheating. Like I can't live in a story

  526. relationship and he had some mandates come on somebody side,

  527. side projects gone. But in God's grace because the

  528. resurrection power of Jesus in his life, because the only way

  529. to ever forgive somebody this level, he brings her back in and

  530. accepts her and forgives her and is rebuilding their marriage.

  531. Amen. That's the power of Jesus and

  532. it's only Jesus can do that. There's no other glory that can

  533. be given as God has forgiven us, so we forgive others.

  534. It's the grace of God on display.

  535. I remember I was 15 years old. I got invited to church by some

  536. friends of mine. It's funny as a guy I met the

  537. first gather I think it was. Maybe it's this one.

  538. Graduate high school in 2003 together.

  539. And, but anyway, I ran some friends.

  540. I became a drum major and, and band my sophomore year and I, I

  541. started hanging with some different friends and there was

  542. something different about them. And at the time I, I didn't know

  543. what it was, but it's like, man, the way they care about people,

  544. the way they care themselves when they treat people, it's

  545. just so foreign to me. Like I, I'd never seen anything

  546. like it. And they invited me out to

  547. church and, and you got to understand, like I, I had never

  548. really been, I'd never been to church to go to church.

  549. I've been to church to, to go to a couple funerals, couple random

  550. weddings. I, I had never heard somebody

  551. preach a message. I I I had never seen a single

  552. person in my life ever pray. I'd never seen anybody pray.

  553. The only time I heard the name of Jesus was put between 2F

  554. words. It's Lou.

  555. The only time it was just fill in the blank Jesus, fill in the

  556. blank. That was it.

  557. I had no idea. I didn't know the Bible and I'd

  558. show up this Wednesday night at a church and somebody was

  559. sharing what I found out later is the Romans wrote.

  560. I started hearing about the good news that Jesus that God sold

  561. the world. They'd give us only son who

  562. would believe in him shall not perish without eternal life.

  563. I'm like this is making a lot of sense that when I was yet

  564. stranded Christ died for me, but God shows left toward me even

  565. though I was yet sinners. Christ died for me and that he

  566. the newest sin became sin for us that we become the righteousness

  567. of God in this verse out of Romans 10/9, which I didn't know

  568. what Romans was. I didn't know there was awesome

  569. these little other books in the I had no idea.

  570. And it reads if you can fetch them out the Lord Jesus and

  571. believe your heart that God raised and dead, you'll be saved

  572. and you start making way too much sense.

  573. So in the back of this youth room, there's this old choir

  574. room. I got on my knees and I prayed

  575. and I accepted the resurrection power of Jesus to forgive my

  576. sins in the fall of 2000. Amen.

  577. It's the grace of God. And I started realizing that

  578. wasn't really the first time that the grace of God has tried

  579. to get into my family's life. So Fast forward, we're looking

  580. forward to look back. So in 2020, my grandpa passed

  581. away. My grandpa's name was Jack

  582. Petrie. My oldest son, my first born son

  583. is named after my grandpa. I looked up to my grandpa.

  584. He was a stoic man. He was a strong man.

  585. He kept the family together. He's like that glue, you know,

  586. that puts everything together. And he was born on Thanksgiving

  587. and he died on Thanksgiving, 99 years apart.

  588. He's just one of those guys. I mean, he just trapped a crowd

  589. of people. And so he didn't, he everybody's

  590. kind of Catholic around him. So they didn't know what to do

  591. because he wasn't. So they said, Hey, Sean can do

  592. the funeral because like he didn't fit between anything.

  593. So we'll do like a graveside. And so I, I doing this funeral

  594. and it's the first time that I got to share the gospel with

  595. really most of my family outside of my mom and my sister and my

  596. my immediate family, nobody else in my family had ever seen me

  597. preach been preached like 15 years.

  598. So I had the honor of doing this funeral.

  599. And the only thing they wanted this funeral.

  600. And this is going to tell you a little bit about my history,

  601. about my family, because you're going to be like, I can't

  602. believe you wrote this, but just this is what happened.

  603. The only thing they wanted to happen at the funeral was a poem

  604. that my grandpa wrote and he wrote here, here likes Jack.

  605. If he did his best, all will be at peace.

  606. He'll be at rest. But but if Jack didn't do so

  607. well, old Saint Pete, he's going to send him straight to hell.

  608. Isn't that crazy? I mean, imagine delivering that

  609. message, you know, like, thanks for the set up.

  610. You know, I like I'll well, who knows, There's always a way to

  611. the Gospel, by the way, Amen. I mean, you can take anything to

  612. the gospel. So I was like, OK, well, this,

  613. this will be bad. I was like, I don't, I don't, I

  614. really don't know where my, my grandpa's spiritual condition

  615. was, right. But I was like, you know, my

  616. dad, my grandpa was a very sarcastic person, as you say.

  617. You read it and say, you know what?

  618. But there's a lot of truth about Jesus.

  619. And I started sharing the gospel at my family's funeral and I'm

  620. getting this like, you know, like the people don't want to

  621. hear that. You know, I'm like, I don't

  622. care. You told me to preach here.

  623. I'm preaching, you know, like I'm going to share it like or

  624. love or hate it, it's going to happen.

  625. And so welcome to last name Peter.

  626. I guess this is going to happen. And so I, I, I show up, we do

  627. it. The funeral is like 15 minute

  628. thing Max. And we go out to my grandpa's

  629. house and, and, you know, in the estate, it was a, here's all the

  630. personal items are kind of down to that point of like they're

  631. going to just, you know, basically pass all items to all

  632. the kids. He had six kids.

  633. And I show up to the house and, you know, the kids have been

  634. over already, his kids, my dad and all his brothers, sisters.

  635. And they kind of like went through everything, which is

  636. great. You know, they get all figured

  637. out and there's a lot of arbitrary items still left and

  638. people trying to figure stuff out.

  639. And I get down in the basement and on my grandpa's workbench,

  640. my dad picks up what would be at this point I know is a World War

  641. 2 issued Bible to my grandpa. My dad picks it up and he goes,

  642. well, nobody's going to want this anyway.

  643. And he pitches it to me. And I thought, how in the world

  644. that all of you walk through this house, every single one of

  645. my cousins, all of my uncles and aunts, all these people, and you

  646. passed up the greatest treasure in this house.

  647. How in the world did you do that?

  648. How can we see the same thing but have different levels of

  649. faith? Like how in the world do you not

  650. realize that this is the greatest gift you ever could

  651. have given anybody? Was this Bible that fact that's

  652. really cool about this Bible is actually 1942 edition of

  653. Gideon's This is the Gideon starting passing out Bibles

  654. before World War 2 to the American armed forces in the

  655. front of the Bible. There's actually a letter from

  656. FDR to all of the soldiers that go out that fight.

  657. My my grandpa, he was too skinny to be airborne.

  658. So he's last in line. All his friends joined the

  659. Airborne and they told me to skinny be like $1.25, you know,

  660. and they said, hey, you're going to be a Marine.

  661. And so he went to the Marine table and I got stationed at

  662. Camp Elia Elliot out in California.

  663. And some lady, I have no idea who this is, Miss N Gibbons gave

  664. this Bible to my grandpa. It's called a pocket Bible.

  665. And you would literally carry it in the pocket of your military

  666. uniform. And my grandpa would go out to

  667. storm the the sands of Saipan to fight the Japanese with this

  668. Bible. Less than an inch of his heart.

  669. Pretty cool. Amen.

  670. Greatest treasure that my grandpa left behind was Jesus.

  671. She had no idea. This lady had no idea.

  672. By the way, she had this Bible 80 years ago, whatever that'd be

  673. 83 years ago. I don't know, I'm doing math

  674. wrong here or something. 84 something, right?

  675. She had no idea that I'll be holding this on the stage and

  676. sharing about the resurrection power of Jesus through this

  677. Bible on Easter Sunday to a large group of people.

  678. Amen. He had no idea how the ripples

  679. of an echo of just like gift given in secret and private

  680. would make it across the Pacific Ocean and back to the United

  681. States end up here in Belden, Missouri to declare the

  682. resurrection power of Jesus. My point, I forgot, right?

  683. My point is this is that God had been trying to get a hold of my

  684. family for a long time. You've been trying to hold my

  685. family a long time to get into Jesus.

  686. And it takes one person to listen to the Holy Spirit and

  687. say yes to God to change your family legacy.

  688. And for me, I got this Bible and it will be the greatest

  689. treasure. I don't keep a lot of things in

  690. my safe at home, but I keep this in my safe.

  691. I don't bring this out and share it very often because it's so

  692. personal to me. And I think how in the world and

  693. two people see the same thing and once you trash another's you

  694. treasure. Most people take this Bible and

  695. they say nobody wants it. Oh, put it in the shelf.

  696. Oh, get rid of it. Donate that to Goodwill.

  697. Any Bibles will show up to my office that people don't want.

  698. And I always look at the beginning.

  699. It's always given by somebody that thought maybe God could

  700. change their life, but we're too stubborn to listen.

  701. That's like, man, what if God could get into US?

  702. Amen. Like what if he started saying

  703. yes to Jesus? It's like maybe I start

  704. recognizing that God's been trying to get a hold of your

  705. life for way longer than you know it.

  706. There's a man that stood out there between the gatherings.

  707. You got a Bible in 1966 from somebody in his family and he

  708. got that Bible and he read that Bible and he stopped following

  709. God not because the Bible. He just did his own thing.

  710. He found that Bible just recently.

  711. It's been Sinner since 1966. He told me, you know, Sean, I

  712. made a huge mistake because God's been trying to get a hold

  713. of my life this entire time. And maybe today's God has been

  714. trying to hold yours. Amen.

  715. So Father would come before you. God, we asked that the echoes of

  716. the resurrection God would be powerful today.

  717. God, they would speak to us today.

  718. That's Jesus followers. We'd be the kind of people that

  719. are writing names in other people's Bibles that the gospel

  720. will go out to a lost and dying world.

  721. That wouldn't stop at our address.

  722. God forgive us. God, we've made it about us.

  723. God, we were so grateful for the cross.

  724. We're so grateful the resurrection power of Jesus.

  725. I'll pray for one more group, people in the house.

  726. That's those of you that recognize today, can you say yes

  727. to Jesus today? You need to say yes to the

  728. resurrection power of Jesus for the very first time.

  729. Do you recognize that God has been trying to get a hold of

  730. your life for a very long time and somebody by the grace of

  731. God, has invited you or shared on Facebook or whatever, and

  732. you're here today not by accident, because the grace of

  733. God, and you may be sensing something today, I'm going to

  734. tell you something. That's the Holy Spirit that's

  735. drawing you to himself. The Bible says that Jesus will

  736. be lifted up. He'll draw all people to

  737. himself. And the Holy Spirit is calling

  738. on you to try to shape you and pull you today.

  739. If you just surrender and say Jesus, I believe in you.

  740. They dine across my sins, He will save you, making you.

  741. The Bible says the day is the day is salvation.

  742. If you could change a fool like me 26 years ago, he can change

  743. you. He is faithful.

  744. And so today if you need Jesus, not make it weird or call you

  745. out, but if you need Jesus, we just raise your hand, hide this

  746. place and you say I need Jesus. That's our relationship of

  747. Christ today. I hope of Christ today I see

  748. hands all across the room me to say I need surrender my life

  749. today I'm the resurrection power of Christ today I'm going to be

  750. dead in my sin today. I'm the resurrection of life

  751. today. I knew what Jesus did on the

  752. cross of my life today. Well if that's you believe

  753. through a prayer. The prayer does not save you.

  754. It is truly your belief and your heart towards Christ.

  755. You say father God thank you so much for loving me enough to

  756. send Jesus to down across 2000 years ago God it was my sin that

  757. held him there. It was me that held the nails.

  758. God, I know you've paid because you love for me.

  759. You've paid every sin in my life, past, present and future.

  760. God, I'm no longer living for myself.

  761. God, I ask for your Holy Spirit to come my life.

  762. God, thank you for giving my sins.

  763. God, I surrender my life to you just like these people who are

  764. baptized because of what you did.

  765. I know you're doing it in my life right now.

  766. God, the resurrect part of me. God, I'm a dead man coming to

  767. life today and I pray this in Jesus name and the church said

  768. Amen. Come on, give some glory to God

  769. today. Amen.
