God Our Savior is Jesus Christ||John 1:1-3 Study Pt. 2

What's going on, my beloved brothers and sisters in Christ?

Today I am back again.

We are covering the whole chapter of John.

We start off powerfully in the first three verses, uh, where it talks about how in the beginning was the Word.

Uh the Word was with God.

The Word existed before time.

Not only was the Word with God, but the Word was God Himself.

One of the most controversials across many religious quotes, um religious cults, excuse me, as I said before in the last video.

And unfortunately, even in the body of Christ, there is confusion about this.

And I think most people want to belittle or minimize this because a lot of selfish pastors, and I just hate to say it, but a lot of selfish pastors, they want to be like Jesus.

And so if we have to acclaim that Jesus Christ is God Himself, then we have not the platform to put ourselves on the same level as Jesus Christ.

Well, tonight, ladies and gentlemen, you can't put yourself on the same level as Jesus Christ.

None of us can because our authority comes through Jesus.

Our righteousness comes through Jesus.

Our faith comes through Jesus.

You dig where I'm going here?

Everything leads to the head of Jesus, which is the head of the body of Christ.

The way we see tonight is not through our eyes.

The way we see tonight is through the eyes of Jesus Christ.

The way that we heal tonight is not through our own power of healing.

The power still comes from Jesus.

When Jesus says greater works will they do than himself, he did not mean that man would be able to do those greater works alone, but instead, now me being able to use him as a vessel to still work through, I would no longer be confined into the areas that I was in doing these healings.

I would no longer have to worry about being tired while doing these healings.

This is the reason why there was times when you found Jesus when the disciples were scared of the storm, waking him up out of his sleep, because those were one of the human limitations that he had.

Now, tonight he no longer has that limitation because he doesn't have to sleep.

The difference now he has a mortal body that he is in with all full power, waiting on God the Father to release him to come back and take total dominion over the earth and to bring the millennial kingdom to the earth.

So we can't acclaim to be like Jesus tonight.

We have to instead work in the image that Jesus Christ has left us.

And this is one of the things the apostle Paul continues to preach to us that we put off the old self and put on the new self, which is Jesus Christ.

Okay?

And so I just wanted to make that statement tonight because I see a lot of pastors who minimize who Jesus was so that they could rise their own platform up to be even like Jesus or claim to be better than Jesus.

You can't be.

Okay.

Uh now I can go into the whole conversation of why you also have to settle yourself down when you're talking about the apostle Paul.

Because Jesus made the apostle Paul the man, whether you realize it or not.

And I know a lot of people will look at that and say, well, the apostle Paul was bragging on himself.

No, there's nothing in this Bible that God did not ordain to be written, okay, without his permission.

And if the apostle Paul was uh defending his apostleship, okay, and he's still doing that today, even though he is not here.

There's many of us that read these scriptures where he's had to defend his apostleship.

Because many will say, Well, he's not a true apostle of the original twelve, minus the one Judas, who is gone, because he did not walk with Jesus literally on this earth.

Well, his position and where he spoke to Jesus, Jesus was at the right hand of the Father.

Okay, I just want to make that known right now, and this is the reason why the apostle Paul continues to defend his apostleship, that he is a personal chosen apostle of Jesus Christ, our ascended Lord, because we are the body of Christ tonight, and so our position, ladies and gentlemen, is in heaven.

Now, I didn't mean to get off on that little tangent right there, but that's just where it went.

But what we're gonna do tonight, we're gonna get back to talking about the first three verses of John chapter 1, verses 1 through 3, and and really zoning in on those words.

John 1:1–3

We went to Philippians chapter 2, where it says that Jesus was the very essence of God.

Although he could have taken on equality with God, he chose not to, to be humbled so that he can go to the cross and obey the Father as a son, from a son position.

Okay, we get over here into Colossians uh chapter 1, and it also says that he was the exact image of God.

This is why Jesus goes on to say that if you've seen me, you have seen the Father.

And tonight we're gonna continue on that, but now we're going to look at some Bible daggers in the hearts of those who continue to insist that Jesus was not God.

We're going to Titus tonight, and then we're going to go back over into John and see how far we get and try to get into verses four and five and see if we can get even beyond that.

Because, like I said, we're going to break down this chapter, the whole chapter.

And I like to try to get in the practice of breaking down whole chapters instead of just breaking down bits and pieces and then adding scripture to it.

Uh, instead, I like to break down the whole chapter and then add scriptures where they belong as far as the whole chapter goes.

Okay, so now let's get on to it.

Um, we're gonna go to Titus tonight because we want to go ahead and get into these biblical facts about who Jesus was.

And Titus, the apostle Paul, is going to tell Titus exactly who Jesus was tonight.

And uh the first in chapter two, twice, he's gonna call Jesus God our Savior.

And in chapter three, he's gonna come back and he's gonna do it again.

For all those who want to refute who Jesus was, even in your King James Bible.

If you read King James Bible more heavily, now I am a proponent of the Amplified Bible, and I I stated this before, and I always try to make sure I state this so you know what Bible I am studying from.

Uh, the reason why I think the Amplified Bible already does a good job at translating those words that would be in the Hebrew, the Aramic, and the Old Testament versus the Greek in the New Testament.

Now, um, you know you want to keep with your Bible, that's fine, but I heavily suggest that if you don't have an Amplified Bible, such as I have right here, you can go to Bible Gateway and use the free version that they have, the AMP version versus the AMPC version.

Okay, uh, because the AMP version is the one that I'm currently using right now.

Uh, and uh it's been a great Bible for me for the last two years.

I used to have one back in the day.

I took for granted the type of benefits I can get from it, but the Lord redirected me back to it about two years ago, and um I'm going through my second go-around through the whole Bible of the Amplified Bible again.

Um now currently in the book of the Second Chronicles.

Uh, and as I'm hoping to get through the whole thing again, man, I love it, man.

Starting over, getting through the whole Bible.

That's where the power for me comes from, from the Holy Spirit filling us up with his power and the wisdom that comes from this Bible.

So let's go ahead and do it.

For all the naysayers that Jesus is not God, we're going to watch Titus literally uh get this letter from the apostle Paul the same way that he gave instructions to Timothy.

Um he's giving instructions to Titus how to run things in the church, okay, and how to deal with people who come against sound doctrine.

And one of these sound doctrines is who Jesus is.

Okay, so let's go to Titus chapter 2, verses 9 through 11, and then we're gonna stay in that same chapter and go down to chapter 2 verses 12 through 14.

Titus 2:9–11

So let's go.

Verse 9.

Watch what it says here.

It says, urge bond servants to be subject to their own masters in everything.

Now I know that's a strong word right here.

Uh it may rub some people the wrong way because just using servants and slaves, you know, and and using the word master can disrupt a lot of people.

But ladies and gentlemen, we have to face the fact that there was slavery and masters over those slaves.

Now, the difference is what they don't tell you is that it was never meant to be inequality.

Okay, if you were a Christ-like person of God and that slave was a Christ-like person of God, there was a different set of rules for you.

You were to treat that person as a brother or sister in Christ if you were a slave owner.

That meant that you did not express uh superiority over that person in a way of um heavy abuse and oppression on that person.

You were able to eat together, you were able to pray together, it did not matter what level that they were your slave, if you were Christ-like, you are now equal in Christ.

Okay, uh, you got a whole chapter in Philemon that expresses this where the apostle Paul is dressed is addressing uh a slave owner.

Uh his slave ran away, but the apostle Paul ended up telling them to come back because they were supposed to be on a level of spiritual equality.

Okay, and this slave owner was very great at accurately sharing the truths of God, and so the apostle Paul didn't feel in any way that there would be any more disruption there because he wanted to make sure that slave owner understood how the relationship of two Christ-like people were supposed to go, and he admonished the the bond servant to come back, and he did.

Okay, so you can check that whole chapter out.

But this is what the apostle Paul is addressing here, and you will see him address that also in Colossians about you know addressing slave owners or masters in this case, okay.

And he's doing the same thing here because this still was uh a thing that was happening, and the apostle Paul wanted to make sure that he addressed it.

So let's get back here.

It says, urge bondservants to be subject to their own masters in everything, to be pleasing and not talk back.

Verse 10, not stealing things regardless of value, but proving themselves trustworthy, so that in every respect they will adorn and do credit to the teaching of look at this, God our Savior.

For the remarkable undeserved grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.

Who has brought salvation to us?

Jesus Christ.

And at that time the apostle Paul had appeared to all those that God had assigned him to go to.

So just imagine that the Bible tells us when the last Gentile comes into the body of Christ, that the body of Christ will be raptured up.

But we will not uh go past those that have died in the Lord first, those that have died in the Lord will be resurrected first, and almost like simultaneously, those that are still alive, as 1 Thessalonians chapter 4, verses 13 through 18 says, will be raised up together in the clouds with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at his appearance.

So at this time, the apostle Paul wanted to make it known that the preaching of the gospel had then been preached to all men.

Now let's go.

So now we're gonna go down to verse 12 through 14 and also see the apostle Paul mentions Jesus Christ as God, our Savior.

But at the same time, now we're gonna actually get Jesus' name in there.

Alright.

So let's go.

Watch what he says here, as it appeared to all men, the salvation, it teaches us to reject, look at his ungodliness and worldly immoral desires, and to live sensible, upright, and godly lives, lives with a purpose that reflects spiritual maturity.

This is the whole goal, ladies and gentlemen, is to be transformed to spiritual maturity.

You're walking in obedience in the Lord.

You're not just saying you are a believer in Christ and your fruits don't bear it.

Okay.

So now we keep going.

In this present age, and at that time, this is what the apostle Paul was talking about.

In his present time.

Okay, in Titus' present time, but now in even today, in our present time.

So let's keep going.

13.

Awaiting and confidently expecting the fulfillment of our blessed hope and the glorious appearing, look at this, of our great God and Savior.

Look at this, Christ Jesus.

Ladies and gentlemen, our hope tonight is the hope that we don't have to die if we still have breath in our body that God has given us.

But instead that we can be raptured up, still alive with the Lord, with those that have died and have fallen asleep in the Lord.

Okay.

This is what the apostle Paul is addressing once again, telling Titus what our great hope is as we wait on God, our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Verse 14, who willingly look at this, gave himself to be crucified, God our Savior, on our behalf to redeem us and purchase our freedom from all wickedness and to purify for himself a chosen and very special people to be his own possession who are enthusiastic for doing what is good.

He has redeemed us.

Ladies and gentlemen, my fact let's let's see if I can get over here to Colossians.

Let's show a little bit what he means by redeeming us out of all wickedness.

Let's see here.

Trying to get to that verse.

Let's go to verse 13.

Colossians chapter 1, verse 13.

Colossians 1:13

Watch what it says here.

In comparison to what we just read, how Christ going to that cross redeemed us from all wickedness.

Watch what our position is tonight.

Verse 13 it says, For he has rescued us, look at this, and has drawn us to himself from the dominion of darkness.

Watch what our position is, and has transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved son.

God has rescued us.

Now you remember I said, and we're going to get to those scriptures eventually in John 1.

That Jesus says, No one can come to him unless the Father draws him.

And we're seeing that confirmed right here in verse 13 that God has rescued us through his son by drawing us to him and taking us out of the kingdom of darkness and transferring us into the kingdom of his beloved son.

So even though we're not in that millennial kingdom tonight, ladies and gentlemen, we have gotten a pre-invite into that kingdom when we got saved.

Okay, now.

So now we see the apostle Paul not only calls Jesus God our Savior, but then he names him by name in the next few verses between 12 and 14.

And what he came and he did on our behalf and what God did through him.

Now, so let's go to the last one.

Titus 3, verses 1 through 3.

Titus 3:1–3

And watch what it says here.

Verse 3.

Verse 1.

And it says, remind people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready and willing to do good.

Now, when you go over there to Romans chapter 13, and I know we've had so much going on, you know, uh police brutality and all kinds of stuff.

And it's been horrible at times, especially upon our black people, our black young men.

But ladies and gentlemen, God tells us, even through all that, that we're still supposed to obey those who have been put in authority because they serve as servants of God.

Now I know we won't want to hear that, but this is what the Bible teaches us, even unto death.

And I know that sucks in a way, but we are to rejoice in the Lord even when we are treated in brutality.

That's tough.

It really is.

But it is a form of selfless love that we have to exemplify.

And that selfless love has to be practiced because we don't come into this world automatically walking in selfless love.

Okay, and the way we get better is through this word of God.

So now let's keep going.

Verse 2 to slander or abuse no one, to be kind, look at this, and conciliatory and gentle, showing unqualified, considered, and controversy toward everyone.

Okay.

For we too once were foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various sinful desires and pleasures, spending and wasting our lives and malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.

Now, all of these things is very important because we are to follow and become like the image of Christ.

And this is what the apostle Paul is telling us.

He's basically saying that we have to die to our own selfish ways so that we can walk in selfless love toward one another.

Why?

Because verse 4, but when the goodness and kindness, look at this, of God our Savior, and his love for mankind appeared in human form as the man Jesus Christ.

This is why we do these things, ladies and gentlemen.

Because we walk in preparation, waiting on the Lord's appearance.

We do not want Jesus to catch us in a place we're not supposed to be when he shows up.

I need to say that one more time.

We do not want Jesus, our God and Savior, to catch us in places we're not supposed to be when he shows up.

And this is the reason why the apostle Paul is telling us that we have to operate in a different way so that we are prepared.

We're walking that way in preparation of Jesus Christ's return for us.

And this is not the second coming, ladies and gentlemen, which a lot of people try to confuse it to be.

This is talking about what 1 Thessalonians chapter 4, verses 13 and 18 through 18, which people also try to refute.

But as plain as day, as he continues to tell us that our great God and Savior, we are waiting on his appearance.

And so while we are waiting on his appearance, we should be walking in a way that exemplifies our thankfulness for already being made ambassadors and family members into the heavenly family.

Okay?

Now, we are going to stop right there.

Like I said, I don't I don't want to keep adding on a lot.

I wanted to make this part two, the continuation of what we talked about in the first three verses of uh John 1, chapter 1, verses 1 through 3.

So then when we come back, we'll pick back up now at verses 4 and 5, and we'll see how far we can get.

It's no rush, but I will tell you all, I just want to let you all know there's going to be probably a lot of videos coming, and they're going to be coming fast.

But don't panic, because I'm going to set playlists up so that you will be able to go to those specific categories and find what it is that you will need.

The reason why I'm doing this, ladies and gentlemen, because God has put a lot of word in me now that I'm impregnated with that has to be delivered out so that He can continue to fill me up again and again and again.

This is one of the whole purposes of being filled with the Holy Ghost.

We have to empty out.

There's a football saying that goes to say when you get on that field, you empty out the bucket.

You leave it all on the field.

And so this is exactly what I am practicing and doing now.

So a lot of videos will probably be coming hot and heavy.

But like I said, don't panic because they will be in playlists, and you'll be able to go to those playlists and get the specific one to keep up with any kind of part ones or part twos that I put or part threes or fours or fives for that matter.

You know, so you won't have to be worried about confusion and being all out of sorts.

But it's something that I know I have to do because I'm charged to do it to get these things out so that the Lord can continue to fill me up with his power and his glory.
