The True Light is Jesus Christ|| John 1:4-13 Study

What's going on, my beloved brethren and sisters in Christ?

Toby Doubted, that is, and I am back again.

We are continuing to cover John chapter 1.

And uh man, we are now going to get to verses 4 and 5 and see how far we can go even beyond that.

I am teaching from an amplified Bible.

If you don't have one, you can go on Bible Gateway.

They have a free version, an AMP version, and an AMPC version.

I would suggest you use the AMP version because that is what I currently read and study from as of at this moment.

Been studying this Bible for about two years now.

I used to have one back in the day.

But I did I took for granted, excuse me, that I what the benefits were when I had it.

And so now the Lord has redirected me back to it.

And so I'm glad to be using it again.

It does a great job in my mind at already helping us fill in the translations of the Hebrew and Aramic in the Old Testament versus the Greek in the New Testament.

So it gives us the words already in place for us so that we can get a better, clear grasp on what we are reading and studying.

Now, make no mistake about it.

It doesn't matter most for the most part what type of Bible that you have.

Now there are some bad versions that are out there.

I'm going to tell you that right now.

Um, that really kill what the word is saying.

But for the most part, there are versions, regardless of what you have, you're going to need the Holy Spirit because that was who was promised to us.

He was promised to us by Jesus Christ.

Jesus said that when he left to sit at the right hand of the Father, he would not leave us as orphans, and that he would send us a comforter in his place, and that is the Holy Spirit.

Not only to be our comforter in times of hard struggles in our lives, but to also guide us into all truth and what Jesus has spoken.

And as we saw in John chapter 1, Jesus was not only the word, what is the what is the communicator, and his communication is in the word, this Bible, these 66 books that we have right now.

But the word was God Himself.

And we covered that in the first three verses.

Very controversial.

I didn't get to go to Colossians chapter 2, verses 8 and 9.

But I'm going to try to slide that in somewhere where it is appropriate.

If not, don't worry.

We will get to it at some point.

As long as we tarry on this earth, we live on this earth until Jesus comes and gets us.

You guys rocking with me, we are going to be discussing a lot of Bible on this channel.

Okay.

And with that being said, so we want to go ahead and get started in verses 4 and 5.

If you have not caught up with John chapter 1 as we started, you can go back and look at the first two videos covering John chapter 1, verses 1 through 3, where we talk about who Jesus really was.

We cover a lot of scriptures in there.

And there's a lot of scriptural backing that Jesus was God Himself, who came in a humanly body, so that he could go to the cross and restore and redeem us from what Adam caused on all mankind, not just mankind, the whole earth and everything.

He brought sin and death on the whole earth and mankind.

And so therefore, Jesus had to come to restore that, to redeem us from that fall that Adam caused on everyone.

So with that being said, let's go ahead and get into John chapter 1 and look at verse 4.

And we will be covering scriptures that uh seem appropriate for the chapters.

I am someone who heavily believes on studying the whole chapter of whatever we're studying, not just uh taking a few verses out and then uh looking at other verses to go along with it.

I study the whole chapter and then build on the other verses if there is a 3D side that we need to be looking at from the whole chapter.

Okay, that's what I try to stay in practice of.

Okay, so let's go.

It says, In him was life and the power to bestow life.

Now, we know this to be true when we go to John chapter 11.

John, the book of John is very deep, ladies and gentlemen.

If you haven't caught that yet, just reading in John chapter 1 shows you how deep it is and how the other chapters connect to John chapter 1.

But not only was Jesus life, he had the ability to bestow life.

Now, we see that not just on a from a spiritual standpoint, whereas, like I told you, when you got called to salvation, you confessed that Jesus did in fact die for your sins, was buried and rose from the dead on the third day according to the scriptures.

1 Corinthians 15, 1 through 4.

When you confessed and believed that, then your spirit man was resurrected.

It is the first resurrection that needs to happen in anyone who comes to the body of Christ before the Holy Spirit can manifest the physical resurrection, should we die physically or fall asleep in death, as the apostle Paul likes to call it, before the rapture of Jesus Christ, calling his children up who are still alive, uh, who will not go before those who have died and fallen asleep, of course, but they will be, or we will, and that is our hope that we don't have to taste death, be raised from the dead and be alive, caught up in the clouds with Jesus Christ.

Jesus will not touch down on the ground yet.

That is at his second coming, but as his great appearing that we spoke briefly of in the second video, that he's God, our Savior, Jesus Christ, whom we have hope for in his appearing, the great appearing, that we will be raised and be up in the clouds, caught up with him when that time comes.

So he has the ability to bestow life.

John 11.

What did he do with Lazarus?

To show glory, and so that his name can be brought glory to.

Okay, he called Lazarus out of the grave.

Alright, called him by name.

Now that's a whole nother teaching within itself that we'll have to talk about at some point.

We won't talk about that today.

But we see how not only is he life, but he has the ability to bestow life.

Okay.

Now, let's go to verse, go back to verse 4.

In him was life and the power to bestow life, and the life was the light of men.

Verse 5.

The light shines on in the darkness, and the darkness did not understand it or overpower it or appropriate it or absorb it, and is unreceptive to it.

Now, the main word I want to take out of here is the word unreceptive.

Okay, now this is not just talking about the darkness that we know about when the Holy Spirit brood over the brooded over the waters in the darkness, okay, and he divided those waters from the sky and what which we know as the seas and the oceans and all of those things today, the lakes and everything.

Okay, but this is also talking about the great darkness, the rebelliousness of people that Adam caused through rebelling against God willingly, and what his wife Eve did by partaking the fruit that gave uh the knowledge between good and evil, and she also helped in that.

But the reason why Adam is the one who has has to shoulder most of the blame was because the responsibilities were given to him as man.

Okay, but now when the light came in, Jesus Christ, Jesus came in and darkness basically was unrecepted to it.

Now the darkness couldn't overpower the light because the light is the creator of the darkness.

The darkness could not appropriate or put it in its place because Jesus is the authoritative person, which can't be put in a place.

Okay?

Now, the darkness couldn't overpower it because, like I told you before, the the Jesus is the creator of the darkness.

But here's what we're really looking at when it talks about being unreceptive.

Let's go to John chapter 3, and we're going to look at verse 19.

Why was the darkness unreceptive?

And Jesus is going to tell us why darkness does not respond well to him as the great light, and doesn't respond to us as lights of the world as well.

Okay, so we want to go here to verse 19 in John chapter 3.

Watch what it says here.

This is the judgment that is the cause for indictment, the test by which people are judged.

The basis for this sentence.

Here we go, talking about the light, has come into the world, and people love the darkness rather than the light.

Now we're going to get down in some verses and we're going to see how the creator of this world came into his own creation, yet the word is going to tell us that he was neither welcomed or received.

He was rejected.

Okay?

And this is the reason for the rejection, because the darkness rejects the light.

And this is what Jesus is talking about.

And people love the darkness rather than the light, for their deeds were evil.

Verse 20.

For every wrongdoer hates the light and does not come to the light, but shrieks from it, is unreceptive to it.

Why?

For fear that his sinful, worthless activities will be exposed and condemned.

And this is why the world doesn't like the light.

Because they don't want their evil deeds exposed or condemned.

This is why they come against the light, us being lights of the world.

Because we impact their decisions on what they want to do secretively in their own evil hearts.

They don't want those secret things to be exposed to the world.

And so when the lights are walking in the world, not just Jesus, he has now made us lights as well.

This evil and converse world, as the apostle Paul calls it, doesn't like the light.

And that's why.

And this is why the darkness was unreceptive, did not try to overpower, did not try to appropriate the light because it couldn't, for one, because the light is the creator of the darkness.

Alright?

But it's more specific now to Jesus telling us that people love the darkness rather than the light.

Because they don't want their evil deeds to be exposed.

Now let's go to John chapter 8 and look at verse 12, and then we're gonna go back to John chapter 1.

Continuing more on about the light.

Now let's look at verse 12.

Watch what it says.

As Jesus being the light, once more Jesus addressed the crowd.

Who?

Jesus addressed the crowd.

Watch what he gets ready to say.

He said, I am the light of the world.

He who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

He who receives and welcomes Jesus Christ in their hearts will not only have the light, but now that light of Jesus will shine in you.

Alright?

But now as we saw in John chapter 3, verses 19 through 20, that the darkness shrinks back from the light because it does not want its evil deeds to be exposed.

And this is why the darkness was unreceptive.

So now let's go back to John chapter 1.

And let's look at verse 6.

And in your Amplified Bible, now it gives another title to cover the other scriptures.

Now we saw that the deity of Jesus Christ was covering the first five verses.

And then these other verses, now, when we start in verse 6, it says the witness of John the Baptist now, who is getting ready to come on the scene, who is setting the path for Jesus Christ.

Okay?

Now, so let's go.

There came a man commissioned and sent from God, whose name was John.

This man came as a witness to testify about the light that we just spoke of, so that all might believe in Christ, the light, through him.

So we've now identified, we know that Christ is this light.

That John is getting ready to open the path for, to come on through and take his role in the prophetic and what the Bible spoke of.

Alright?

Now, verse 8, John was not the light.

Let's make no mistake about that, but came to testify about the light, or open and be a witness to open the pathway so that Jesus could take his full role in what he was called to do.

Now, there it was, the true light, the genuine, perfect, steadfast light, which coming into the world.

Look at this, enlightens everyone.

Verse 10.

He Christ was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.

Now we talked about this in the first five verses.

All things existed and were made through Jesus Christ, who spoke everything into existence.

We went over to Colossians chapter 1.

We looked at verses 15 through 18 that further expounded on that from the apostle Paul.

And now we see that the light came into the world, the world he created.

Yet the Bible tells us here in verse 10 that he was not recognized.

Verse 11.

Look at this, his own, that which belonged to him, his world, his creation.

Look at that, his possession, and those who were his own people, his own people.

The Jewish nation did not receive and welcome him.

Alright, now verse 12.

But to as many as did receive and welcome him, he gave the right, look at this, the authority, the privilege to become children of God.

That is, to those who believe in, adhere to, trust in, and rely on his name, Jesus Christ, who were born not of blood, natural conception, nor of the will of the flesh, physical impulse, nor of the will of man, that a that of a natural man, but of God, that is a divine and supernatural birth, they are born of God, spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified.

These are some important last scriptures right here that tells us that those who did receive and welcome Jesus Christ, he gave the privilege, the authority, the right to become children of God.

What did Jesus say?

That no one can get to the Father but through me.

He also comes back and says, No one can draw, can be drawn to Jesus but through the Father.

So it's an open parallel door.

Now, we're gonna go to Philippians chapter one because I want to further expound now.

We see that Jesus, whom when he was received, says that he gave the right, the authority, the privilege to become children of God, and that it was a supernatural event.

And it definitely was.

Because there's no other way but through the Holy Spirit can your hearts and minds be stirred to even be drawn to the Father and Lord Jesus Christ.

Now watch what the apostle Paul says as he uses the word privilege as well when it relates to Jesus.

And we'll probably stop right there.

Let's go over to Philippians chapter 1, verses I believe 28 through 29.

I'm gonna correct that in a minute once I get there.

Let's take a look here.

I think I got it in my notes here so we we don't get too far off here.

Yeah, we're gonna look at verses 28 through 30, and we're probably gonna stop there.

We're gonna focus in on this word privilege because the Bible says that those who received Christ welcomed him, he gave them the privilege, the right, the authority to become children of God.

This was a supernatural thing.

Because of what Jesus Christ did at that cross, he reconciled the world back unto God the Father.

This is not something we can feel, but by faith we believe that it was done.

And that's what's the supernatural part about it.

This is a supernatural thing that has happened for us in order to bring us back into right relationship with God.

But watch now what the apostle Paul says in relation now to the privilege it is to know Christ.

Watch this.

Philippians chapter 1, starting at verse 28, and it says, and in no way be alarmed or intimidated in anything by your opponents, for such constancy and fearlessness on your part is a clear sign, a proof and seal for them of their impending destruction, but a clear sign for you of deliverance and salvation, and that too from God.

Now, what he's talking about here is the constant persecution that these believers, these mostly Gentile believers, had the backlash they took for believing on Jesus Christ.

But what he says, have no fear, because those who reject and persecute you, this is evidence of their eternal destruction.

I want y'all to gather that.

This is evidence of their eternal destruction, but at the same time, it is evidence of your salvation.

Because, see, if you're not suffering and if you're not being persecuted for the sake of Jesus Christ, then something might be wrong because Jesus says, as they persecuted him, they will also persecute you.

Okay, now let's keep going.

Verse 29, for you have been what?

Look at this, granted the privilege for Christ's sake, not only to believe and confidently trust in him, but also to look at this, suffer for his sake.

Verse 30.

And so you are experiencing the same kind of conflict what you saw me endure and what you hear to be mine now.

When the Apostle Paul was chosen by Jesus Christ, he told Ananias, whom he sent to restore the apostle Paul's sight.

Now that's not just a physical thing that happened for the apostle Paul, but it's also serving as a spiritual thing.

But we won't get into that right now.

But I mentioned that because Jesus said that not only did he choose the apostle who persecuted his Jewish church, but he also chose him to suffer for his sake.

And the apostle Paul has a long list of suffering that he went through.

Let me tell you, in persecution, boy, it was heavy.

Make no mistake about it.

He had to deal with the consequences that he put on the Jewish church of Jesus Christ.

But Jesus' grace was sufficient enough to get him through it.

Okay?

But now, as you see how Jesus gave the privilege for us to become children of God through his death, burial, and resurrection.

Now, the apostle Paul says, we've been given the privilege to not only know Jesus Christ, but to suffer on his behalf, which now connects us with the apostle Paul for all the sufferings and persecutions that he took for believing in and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Now, I want to stop right there, but understand how you should feel very privileged tonight because God could have left a veil on your eyes, He could have let Satan keep you blinded in darkness.

The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians chapter 4, verse 4, that those who are blinded, they are blinded by Satan who has a veil over their eyes as an unbeliever.

2 Corinthians 4:4

But when God takes that veil off because of repentance and you're turning away from your wicked ways, what does he say in the word?

Those who will turn from their wicked ways, I will be their father and they will be my children.
