Jesus Comes In The Flesh||John 1:14-18

What's going on, my beloved brethren and sisters in Christ?

It's evangelist Toby Doubtless.

I am back again.

We've been covering the whole chapter of John, chapter 1, and we've gotten through verses 4 through 13 now.

John 1 · chapter mention

The John the Baptist has now come on the scene, and uh he is setting the path, the way for the true light, Jesus Christ.

We saw that the true light came into the world, and how darkness was unreceptive.

We looked at that, went to a couple of verses that discussed that.

John chapter 3, verses 19 through 20, as well as John chapter 8, verses 12.

And we looked at those verses and we also saw that how Jesus, the creator himself, came into his own world.

Not only was he rejected and not welcome by his own people, the Jewish nation, but he was not welcomed by the world that he created as well.

But those, the word says, that did welcome and did receive him, he gave the privilege, the right, the authority to become children of God.

Now, this is a supernatural thing.

This is not something that is something that natural man can do, but only God Himself.

The word tells us in 1 Corinthians chapter 12 that is the hope that it is the Holy Spirit that baptizes us into the body of Christ.

Now, this does not pertain to a water baptism that is totally separate, but it is a spiritual by faith believing that once we got saved, that the Holy Spirit now who seals us has now taken us and baptized us into the body of Christ.

All of this uh culminates to a supernatural thing that is happening within our lives.

Uh, it cannot be manufactured by human beings, it cannot be manufactured by human hands.

Uh, the word tells us that there is a circumcision not made by hands, not the same circumcision that Abraham them did physically, but now there is a spiritual circumcision of the heart that only Jesus Christ can perform through the Holy Spirit.

Okay, now let's look at this supernatural occurrence that happens for those that welcome Jesus Christ into their lives.

I want to go to 1 Corinthians, I want to go to the second chapter over here because I want y'all to see who is the one that's causing this supernatural occurrence to happen in our lives and how we are able to come in to the body of Christ.

The apostle Paul is going to explain it through the Holy Spirit so wonderfully.

Let's go down to verses 4 and 5.

And again, I'm reading from an amplified Bible.

I always like to make sure that I stress that uh this amplified Bible that I have here.

If you don't have one, you can go to Bible Gateway.

They have a free version, uh AMP version, because that is the version that I am currently using.

Uh and we can rock on the same page.

Uh, I think it does a wonderful job at already helping us with some Hebrew and Arabic words in the Old Testament versus the Greek in the New Testament.

It already gives us translations so we can get uh better clarity on what the word is saying.

But I want to go to 1 Corinthians the second chapter, and let's start at verse 4.

Let's look at this supernatural occurrence that is happening in our lives that causes us to have the veil taken off and brought into the body of Christ.

Watch this.

And my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, using clever rhetoric.

Now, so many people have charisma, just like Apollos.

He had charisma, but he was showing a more perfect way with Aquila and Priscilla as they invited him into their home.

He was preaching only of the baptism by John the Baptist.

Now, the apostle Paul comes on the scene, and now there is a gospel called the death, burial, and resurrection that we see in 1 Corinthians 15, 1 through 4.

Now, that is not the only chapter where we see the gospel.

But Paul tells us that it is absolutely necessary for us to receive and believe in this gospel in order for us to be brought not only into the body of Christ, but also to receive immortal bodies like Jesus has tonight.

Okay, but here who is causing the supernatural occurrence that we have coming into the body of Christ.

Verse 4 says, And my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom using clever rhetoric, but they were delivered.

Look at this, in demonstration of the who Holy Spirit, watch this, operating through me and of his power.

This is where the supernatural comes in.

It is because of the Holy Spirit that the stirring the minds, see that, of the listeners and persuading them without the Holy Spirit, there is no privilege of persuasive stirring of the minds, so that we can connect and be drawn to God and drawn to Jesus, our Savior.

Alright?

So now, it is the Holy Spirit that stirs the minds of the listeners and is persuading them.

Verse 5, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom and rhetoric of men.

Although it sounds intelligent, it is straight up babble.

There is no truth found in it.

Now they package up their words, and it sounds real good.

But the apostle Paul says, I didn't come with intelligent words, I came operating in the power of the Holy Ghost.

The Bible tells us that the Apostle Paul suffered from some form of speech impediment.

So this should tell you that he had to rely on the Holy Spirit.

This is the reason why he can write the words of wisdom such as he wrote in all of these epistles that the Holy Spirit gave him to write.

All word is God breathed.

Alright.

So it is the Holy Spirit that stirs our minds and persuades us to be drawn to God the Father, who draws us to his son Jesus Christ.

Alright, so now let's go back to John chapter 1.

Let's go back to John chapter 1, and we're gonna pick up in verse 14.

And it reads, and the word Christ became flesh and lived among us, and we actually saw his glory, glory as belongs to the one and only begotten Son of the Father, the Son who is truly unique, the only one of his kind who is full of grace and truth, absolutely free of deception.

Now let that sink in for a minute.

There is not an ounce of deception in the true light, but there is deception in somebody else, and his name is Satan.

Alright, and he does a good job at putting and packaging words together, just like the apostle Paul was talking about.

He didn't come with uh intelligent words of rhetoric like mere men, he came under the operation of the Holy Ghost.

Now, first fifteen, John testified repeatedly about him and has cried out, testifying officially for the record with validity and relevance.

This was he of whom I said, he who comes after me has a higher rank than I, and his priority over me, for he existed before me.

Now, what did it say about the word that it existed with God before time?

I want to go over to John chapter 8.

Because we want to see somebody else that Jesus also existed before, that person as well.

And let's go on over here to them.

And I'm gonna tell you when Jesus said this, oh, it made a lot of people upset.

But they knew what he was talking about, they just didn't want to admit it.

Then let's look at verse, start at verse 57, and we're gonna end in 59.

Watch this.

Then the Jews said to him, You are not even 50 years old, and you claim to have seen Abraham.

Watch, watch what Jesus says.

Jesus replied, I assure you, and most solemnly say to you, before Abraham was born, what'd he say there?

I am.

This is the same I am that spoke in that burning bush to Moses.

Who should I tell the people you are?

Tell them that I am who I am.

And Jesus is using these same exact words, letting us know who he was.

Alright, now we're gonna go back to John chapter one.

Go back to John chapter one.

So John the Baptist is testifying about Jesus Christ.

Now watch this, he says, verse 16.

For out of his fullness, the super abundance of his grace and truth, we have all received grace upon grace, spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heat upon gift.

Now we want to attack the superabundance of this grace first.

There is not a sin that Jesus died for that his death could not cover.

If you're fortunate to be stirred in the mind and persuaded by the Holy Spirit, you will be covered in that superabundant grace, ladies and gentlemen.

Now, when I saw this, it blew my mind.

Let me see if I can find it in the book of Peter.

I want to say it's either 2 Peter or it's 1 Peter.

But we're gonna go to both, we're gonna find this.

But it just it it got my spirit going when I saw this here.

And I was like, wow.

Let's get on over here.

Let's go to 1 Peter, look at the second chapter.

I want to look at verse 23, and we're gonna end in 24.

Now watch this, y'all.

It says, While being revealed, reviled and insulted, he did not revile or insult in return.

While suffering, he made no threats of vengeance, but kept entrusting himself to him who judged fairly.

He was obedient to the prophecy.

All the way to death.

Now, here's something more painful than the beatings that he took.

Yet he took all of his own going to the cross.

Watch this.

Verse 24.

He personally carried our sins.

Look at this, y'all, in his body.

Do you know how painful that is to carry all those sins in your body and to see not only the sins of those in that present time, but to see all the sins of every one of us leading up to that cross, ladies and gentlemen.

Let that sink in for a minute.

He carried every sin, not only from his present time, but also in the future, and even if we should not make it and we should fall asleep in death before he gets here.

All of us in this future time, this present moment, and even beyond us, he carried all sins in his body to the cross.

Now let's go.

Willingly offering, see this, himself on it, as on an altar of sacrifice, so that we might die to sin, so that he could free us, becoming immune from the penalty and power of sin, and live for righteousness, for by his wounds you who believed have been healed.

Now I know this is hard to believe for many of us, but the word tells us that when he went to that cross, he freed us from the power of sin.

Ladies and gentlemen, you know what I mean?

When we're sinning, we're not sinning because we're forced to.

It is a willing disobedience.

Because the word says we've been freed from the slavery or power of sin.

Not only that, we've been freed from the penalty that would have been paid or had to have been paid by us that we had no affordability to pay, nor were we qualified to pay.

Jesus was a man who was tempted, but yet he sinned not.

He was a man born with no sin, but yet qualified to die for sin, because he was tempted by the very things that we are tempted by today.

Man, that blows me away.

Says, because Jesus He can uh relate to us in temptations, and because He conquered those temptations, the Bible says that He is an immediate relief to those who are tested by temptations.

Now think about that for a moment.

He is an immediate relief.

There is no temptation coming to man that he has not been tempted by yet he overcame it.

We saw that in Matthew chapter 4.

When Satan came at him all kind of ways, but he showed us how to deal with it, to combat it with the word.

Okay?

Now, so he carried the sins of the world in his body.

I want to go to Romans chapter, let's go to Romans chapter 5.

We're gonna look down in the last verses there.

As we talk about this super abundant of grace.

Watch what the apostle Paul says here.

And I'm just going to go ahead and and and and and ruin the movie.

Just because grace more abounds does not mean we sin just so grace can more abound.

Watch what it says here.

I want to go to uh let's just go ahead, just start at verse 20.

Chapter 5, Romans chapter 5.

Start at verse 20.

Watch what it says.

But the law came to increase and expound expand the awareness of the trespass by defining and unmasking sin.

Make no mistake about it.

While the law can't save, the law made us realize that we needed a savior.

We couldn't do it on our own, we couldn't walk righteously on our own without a savior.

So, this is what the apostle Paul is saying that the law unmasked and made us recognize that we needed a savior.

Watch this.

But where sin increased, here we go.

God's remarkable gracious gift of grace, his unmerited favor, his surpa has surpassed it and increased all the more.

Remember, we were talking about this superabundant, superabundant grace upon grace, these spiritual blessings upon spiritual blessings, the favor upon favor comes from Jesus Christ.

He's talking about this grace, at no matter what the sin is, grace increases all the more.

Verse 21, why does it do that?

So that as sin reigned in death, so also grace would reign through righteousness, which brings eternal life through Christ our Lord.

I want to go down to six and look at these first two verses.

Watch this.

What shall we say to all this?

Should we continue in sin and practice sin as a habit so that God's gift of grace, look at this, may increase and overflow just so that we can receive this superabundant grace that covers whatever we do?

You got people preaching that today.

You can do whatever because grace covers it.

No, that's not what this Bible says.

And I'm gonna show you right here in verse 2.

Certainly not.

We do not continue sinning and practice sin just because we know that grace will more abound, just because we know that that superabundant grace that Jesus provided for us will cover it?

No.

Mm-mm.

We walk in obedience because that grace has covered the things that we've done.

Certainly not.

How can we, the very ones who died to sin, continue to live in it any longer?

Because we've been made free, ladies and gentlemen.

We've been made free, and there is no excuse because we've been set free.

When you begin to look at it, that if I'm sinning, and the power of sin has been weakened, then I'm not doing it because I'm forced to, I'm doing it.

Because I want to.

Now that's hard to swallow, but it's the biblical truth.

Because if you weren't free from it, then that would make what Jesus did a lie.

And the Bible says, we are all liars, but God is truth.

Now we're gonna stop right there, and we're gonna get back to John.

But I wanted to cover that because, like I told you, we are not gonna be just running through these things.

We are gonna cover it where scripture is appropriate.

We're gonna go to those scriptures and line those things up, and then we will continue to lose.

So when we come back, we're gonna jump on verses 18 and see how far we can go.

I think it's it's it's a lot of it's probably about 51 verses in John.

So we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna keep cracking that crab and getting all the meat out that we can get.
