  1. Glory when we meet. You're in the sky. Hallelujah.

  2. Give the Lord good praise in his house. Amen.

  3. Seems that now I almost see all the saintly dead.

  4. Oh, rising for that jubilee that is just ahead.

  5. Oh, in the twinkling of an eye, change with them

  6. to be. Well, all the living saints shall rise

  7. to that jubilee. Well, what a day I'll sing.

  8. Oh, what a day when we all shall rise. Oh, what

  9. a day when we meet. It's going to happen. It's

  10. going to happen. Amen. It's going to happen.

  11. If you have your Bibles, turn with me to Mark's

  12. Gospel, the second chapter. Mark chapter 2. Again,

    Mark 2 chapter mention

  13. it is so good to see you here today. And if you

  14. are visiting with us, I trust that you've already

  15. encountered the presence of the Lord through

  16. your worship. For we know according to his word

  17. that he inhabits and dwells within the praises

  18. of his people. Amen. And in case I'm not in the

  19. right frame of mind later, when you leave today,

  20. if you're visiting with us, if you'll go out

  21. those doors to the left or just kindly circle

  22. around in the foyer, there'll be a beautiful

  23. smiling face waiting for you. Have something

  24. special to give you and to let you know how much

  25. we appreciate your visit with us today. Amen.

  26. Amen. Mark's Gospel, chapter 2. We'll start at

  27. verse 1. And again, I like that. And again, he

  28. entered into Capernaum after some days, and it

  29. was noised that he was in the house. And straightway

  30. many were gathered together, insomuch that there

  31. was no room to receive them, no, not so much

  32. as about the door. And he preached the word unto

  33. them. And they come unto him, bringing one sick

  34. of the palsy, which was born of four. And when

  35. they could not come nigh unto him for the press,

  36. they uncovered the roof where he was. And when

  37. they had broken it up, they let down the bed

  38. wherein the sick of the palsy lay. And when Jesus

  39. saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the

  40. palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. That's

  41. odd. That wasn't what they let him down there

  42. for. But there were certain of the scribes sitting

  43. there and reasoning in their hearts, why does

  44. this man thus speak blasphemies? Who can forgive

  45. sins but God only? And immediately when Jesus

  46. perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned

  47. within themselves, he said unto them, why reason

  48. you these things in your hearts? Whether is it

  49. easier? To say to the sick of the palsy, thy

  50. sins be forgiven thee. Or to say, arise and take

  51. up thy bed and walk. But that you may know that

  52. the Son of Man hath power on the earth to forgive

  53. sins. He said to the sick of the palsy, I say

  54. unto thee, arise and take up thy bed and go thy

  55. way into thine house. And immediately. He arose,

  56. took up the bed, and went forth before them all,

  57. insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified

  58. God, saying, We never, water's parallel on this

  59. last sentence, we've never seen it like this

  60. before. We never saw it on this fashion. We've

  61. never seen anything like this. Amen. Just for

  62. a little while today, with the help of the Lord,

  63. I want to preach on the thought that He makes

  64. the difference. He makes the difference. Amen.

  65. If you'll pray for me, I'll pray for you, and

  66. hopefully we'll leave here together stirred by

  67. the Word of God. Amen. Father, we love you. We

  68. thank you. Lord's so dependent upon you today.

  69. And that spirit that makes it easy to preach,

  70. Lord, let it... be in this house today. Lord,

  71. as I stir the unction within myself, I ask God,

  72. let your hand rest upon me. I yield my voice

  73. and myself today. Lord, speak to your people.

  74. Let your word radiate in our hearts and that

  75. we truly leave this place encouraged, encouraged,

  76. lifted up. And we will praise you for it. In

  77. Jesus' mighty name. Amen, amen. Tell your neighbor,

  78. he really does make a difference. He really,

  79. really does. There are times in life that it

  80. seems as though we're spinning our wheels and

  81. getting nowhere. And in those moments, we begin

  82. to wonder and question within ourselves, well,

  83. what are we supposed to do now? The age in which

  84. we live, we feel that we must be busy all the

  85. time doing something. We're restless. We become

  86. easily bored. Our culture is a culture which

  87. craves entertainment. It just craves action.

  88. And we wonder why so many are stressed beyond

  89. the max. We wonder why we are not satisfied and

  90. become so overwhelmed with the everyday occurrence

  91. of life itself. Something we have to understand,

  92. it's not church that changes lives. It's not

  93. the church that changes lives. Only Christ can

  94. change lives. Only Christ, his presence, can

  95. make a difference in current everyday events.

  96. And in the crisis and the chaos and the dilemma

  97. and the boredom of life. Only Christ can alter

  98. those things. His presence makes a difference.

  99. Throughout the Bible, we read, we see everywhere

  100. that Christ showed up, there was a difference

  101. when he left. Amen. Either the devil's left screaming,

  102. you know. Somebody left healed. Somebody left

  103. mad. Pharisees would get mad. They'd get so infuriated

  104. because they didn't know how to deal with the

  105. rationale of his answer, and it wasn't what they

  106. wanted to hear, so they would become very angry,

  107. intolerant with him, plotting, trying to take

  108. his life from the very beginning stages. As we

  109. begin our text today in this second chapter,

  110. it says, and again he entered into Capernaum.

  111. So if he's entered again, he had to show up one

  112. time before. Right? He's had to have already

  113. been there. If again, he's coming back. Wouldn't

  114. it be wonderful if the presence of the Lord would

  115. come back again and visit his church? Well, I

  116. just felt that one. Wouldn't it be wonderful

  117. again that if the presence of the Lord would

  118. have preeminence in our culture? in our nation,

  119. in this country, wouldn't it be a wonderful thing

  120. to know that Jesus, his presence again was in

  121. his house and where he is, great things happen.

  122. Wouldn't it be wonderful if he just showed up

  123. again? Wouldn't it be wonderful? How many of

  124. you remember the first time you encountered the

  125. Lord and you repented and that burden and that

  126. weight of sin lifted off and you just took a

  127. deep breath like you'd never taken a breath before?

  128. I remember that very vividly. how freely my breath

  129. came when the weight and the burden of sin was

  130. lifted off of my soul. It was just like, whoa,

  131. it's a brand new day. Amen? I remember leading

  132. a truck driver to the Lord one time out on a

  133. mountain, out by a pond. I didn't know if I was

  134. going to get shot or what. This old boy called

  135. me. I ended up going out and meeting him. And

  136. we're standing at a picnic table by his farm

  137. pond. And he was reading the scripture and just

  138. could not get a grip on it. I said, you're not

  139. going to get a grip on it. And he looked at me.

  140. me say, well, why? I said, because you can't

  141. understand what it's saying until there's a transformation

  142. in your life. Well, how do I get that? I said,

  143. well, you repent. Let him to the Lord right there,

  144. and I'll never forget. When he opened his eyes,

  145. he began to look around. He said, man, how green

  146. the grass is. I just smiled. I said, yes, it's

  147. very green. And he began to relate the nature

  148. that's going on, like he had never heard it or

  149. seen it before. I said, now you can read it and

  150. get a grip on it, son. And we talked for about

  151. an hour. When we began to understand that he

  152. His presence makes a difference. Again, he entered

  153. into Capernaum. The first time he's there, he's

  154. fresh out of the wilderness. He's fresh out of

  155. an anointing with the Holy Ghost. He's come out.

  156. He's come into town. He goes straight to the

  157. church house. And the first thing he encounters

  158. is an old boy with an unclean spirit in him.

  159. And he casts that thing out right there in church.

  160. And the marvel begins. Their minds are already

  161. blown. And he goes from there into Simon's house

  162. and his mother -in -law. is sick and he heals

  163. her and she just starts serving around that.

  164. So from the get -go, from the moment he enters

  165. into ministry, there's some marvelous things

  166. going on. And he's talking with the disciples.

  167. He said, hey, we need to go to some of these

  168. other towns around us for that's the reason that

  169. I've come, that I'd go around and spread the

  170. gospel, preach the gospel, preach the kingdom

  171. of God, amen, preach repentance and deliver and

  172. heal, amen. And so he goes about doing that.

  173. And after they've been gone for a few days, certain

  174. days, he comes back again to Capernaum and he

  175. enters into the house. And now here's where things

  176. begin to get exciting. When Jesus shows up, when

  177. his presence is in the house, things begin to

  178. happen. He begins to teach. He begins to preach

  179. to them the word. We need more than social security

  180. today. We need more than more insurance. We need

  181. more than this. We need more than social ministries

  182. going on. We need more of the presence of God

  183. in this house. We need more than welfare. People

  184. need more than just help and assistance. They

  185. need transformation. And the only way that they're

  186. going to receive transformation is that the church

  187. again invites the presence of Jesus back into

  188. the house and he begins to show up again. Because

  189. I'm declaring to you today where the presence

  190. of the Lord is. There is liberty, and there is

  191. liberty that is found by those who are bound,

  192. those who need a helping hand, those who need

  193. a touch, those who need deliverance, those who

  194. need peace of mind, those who need healing in

  195. their body. When the presence of Jesus shows

  196. up, things begin to happen. And you can always

  197. tell when Jesus is in the house. Why? Because

  198. folks begin to show up. It's not the, I got it

  199. all together, folks. It's not the folks that's

  200. just fine. But it's the hungry people that begin

  201. to show up. It's the hurting people that start

  202. to show up. It's the poor folk who need lifted

  203. up that begin to show up. It's the sick folk

  204. who begin to come through the door. It's the

  205. messed up folk, amen. It's the emotionally disturbed.

  206. It's the depressed folks. It's the oppressed

  207. folks that begin to show up. Why? Because there's

  208. an echoing that's going out. There's a proclamation

  209. that's being sent around that Jesus is over there.

  210. And if you go in there. You'll not leave like

  211. you go in. There is a change agent. There's a

  212. transformation that'll take place. He'll lift

  213. you up if you're down. He'll heal you if you're

  214. sick. He'll give you peace of mind if you're

  215. tormented. He'll help you if you're broke. Hallelujah.

  216. He'll be the one who'll provide a way. When Jesus

  217. starts showing up and things start happening,

  218. people begin to get excited and they begin to

  219. show up. That's what this house is. That's what

  220. this place is. It's like the pool of Siloam.

  221. It's where the sick come. It's where the hurting

  222. show up. And why? Because we don't all have it

  223. together. But I need to get it together. And

  224. I need a little help getting it together. I can't

  225. carry the load alone. And I need someone to help

  226. carry my burden. I want him to show up again.

  227. So many folk have a picture of Jesus in their

  228. house. How many of you got one of those? Come

  229. on, it's not a trick question. How many of you

  230. got some pictures of Jesus hanging around the

  231. house? I'm going to give you a little secret.

  232. That ain't him. That ain't him. If he's white,

  233. throw it out. Just go ahead and get shed of it.

  234. It's not sacrilegious because it ain't him. It

  235. ain't him. We don't have those in the house.

  236. What? No, I don't have an accurate picture, so

  237. why would I want a fake? Well, it just reminds

  238. me. Well, hang a cross on the wall. That's a

  239. more accurate image. Lord, I've just got all

  240. in somebody's Wheaties this morning. I started

  241. feeling my hips show up and somebody just run

  242. him out. I can't believe he's saying that. Well,

  243. I'm saying it. I'm telling you, that's not him.

  244. They were no Polaroids in the year of our Lord.

  245. They don't have an accurate image. And the best

  246. that we can come up with in our own mind ain't

  247. him. Have you seen some of the mosaics? Those

  248. little chips of porcelain and tile? They got

  249. him all twisted up. And they were a whole lot

  250. closer to his time than us. That ain't him either.

  251. So, discard your pictures and put a picture of

  252. your family on the wall. And close your mind.

  253. Your eyes and begin to imagine what he may look

  254. like. And the best you can come up with in your

  255. mind still isn't going to come close to the glorious

  256. image of God. Amen. Hallelujah. So what we need,

  257. I don't need a picture. I need his presence.

  258. Amen. Because his presence begins to declare

  259. his glory. And when his presence is in here,

  260. I don't care what he looks like. It's not going

  261. to matter to me. It's not going to have one iota

  262. because I'm not going to be looking for his face.

  263. I'll be looking for his brow. Amen. I'm not going

  264. to be looking at the color of his eyes. I'm going

  265. to be looking for the nail pierced hands that

  266. I may identify. He is the one who died. for my

  267. wretched soul, and he is the one who has redeemed

  268. me, and he's the one that's picked me up. He's

  269. the one that's carried me all of these years.

  270. It is his grace that has enabled me to go from

  271. day to day. Hallelujah. I need his presence.

  272. He makes the difference. It was noise. Somebody

  273. went around telling everybody in town, hey, hey,

  274. that guy's back. that tore church up here a while

  275. back. You know, the one that cast that devil

  276. out of that old boy. Oh, he's back, yeah. Where

  277. at? He's down at that house. Let's go see. Let's

  278. go see what's going on. Let's go get a determination

  279. for ourselves. It was noise. He's in the house.

  280. There's something to talk about. Amen? We don't

  281. have to. We don't have to redevelop strategy

  282. for church growth. I gave that up a long time

  283. ago. I gave up strategy for church growth many,

  284. many years ago. And I developed this strategy.

  285. If I can just preach Jesus. Amen? If somebody

  286. can just get touched, if somebody can just get

  287. healed, if some folks can just get saved, if

  288. somebody could get the baptism of the Holy Ghost,

  289. if somebody could get sanctified and their life

  290. changed and other people begin to see it and

  291. they get excited enough to know, hey, you need

  292. to show up over there at that church. Why? Man,

  293. there's some stuff going on you. won't believe

  294. it. That guy they've got preaching down there

  295. is loud. He spits. He gets down there among the

  296. people some of the time. He may even jump up

  297. in a chair. You just never know what's going

  298. to happen. Well, what is he saying? He's preaching

  299. the word. Amen. Because when you find out that's

  300. exactly what Jesus was doing when they come to

  301. the house and they could not get in because of

  302. the crowd. Not so much as even right at the door.

  303. You couldn't get in to stand at the door. A man

  304. to see what was going on. And while he is there,

  305. the Bible declares in our text that he was preaching

  306. the word to them. What word was he preaching?

  307. Well, I don't know. He could have been Isaiah

  308. 61 when he began to tell them, the spirit of

  309. the Lord is upon me for he's anointed me to preach

  310. the gospel. He's anointed me to preach the good

  311. news. What? That the blind are going to be healed.

  312. That the dead are going to be raised. That the

  313. lame are going to be raised. going to walk, the

  314. dumb going to talk, the deaf going to hear, and

  315. those who are bruised are going to be bound up,

  316. and those who are in captivity are going to be

  317. set free. He could have been preaching that to

  318. them. Oh, he could have went back a few chapters

  319. earlier. He could have made his way to Isaiah

  320. 9 and begin to tell them his name shall be called

  321. Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God. He could have

  322. went back to Genesis and begin to declare that

  323. the heel of the woman's going to bruise the head

  324. of the serpent. He could have preached it. He

  325. could have declared in Noah's heart. He could

  326. have told him that I am the ark. He just preached

  327. the word. That's all you got to do. That's all

  328. you got to do. Declare what's in the book. It's

  329. enough. He could have hit Isaiah 53 and foretold

  330. of his own death to them. But it's early on.

  331. He hasn't got that far yet. He's just getting

  332. started. He could have preached to them about

  333. being the ancient of days. The rose of Sharon,

  334. the lily of the I am, the lily. Couldn't you

  335. tell? I don't know what he preached. He had a

  336. lot of material. That he could have used. Straightway

  337. many gathered together. There was no room to

  338. get in the house. When the house is filled with

  339. his presence. The house will begin to fill up

  340. with hungry people. I don't need another pat

  341. me on the back story. Hello. I don't need another.

  342. I need to be stirred. Amen. I guess it's because

  343. that's the way I come in this thing. And I guess

  344. it will be the way I go out. I need somebody

  345. to stand and declare to me, thus saith the word

  346. of the Lord. I need somebody. I'm sure Jesus

  347. told them you need to repent for the kingdom

  348. of heaven is at hand. There's no way to the Father

  349. unless you're coming through me. I am that way.

  350. I'm sure he declared to them. If he preached

  351. to them the word and the gospel, then I'm sure

  352. he preached to them their need to accept himself

  353. as their Lord and personal Savior. I guarantee

  354. there's no other way in. There's no other way.

  355. There's no bypass. There's no express pass line.

  356. You go through him or you don't go. Plain and

  357. simple. He preached to them his word. It may

  358. sound old fashioned to a lot of folks. Amen.

  359. The house was filled with those hungry people.

  360. It may look ridiculous sometimes the way we preach

  361. it, but the Word declares that He has chosen

  362. that through preaching that man becomes saved,

  363. and He has declared that it's through the foolishness

  364. of preaching that this happens. Why do you say

  365. foolishness? Because some of us preachers can

  366. kind of act a little foolish in the declaration

  367. of His Word, but He's happy with it. Why? Because

  368. He knows we are surrendered and yielded, and

  369. He can say crow like a rooster, and I have tried

  370. to crow like a rooster to make a point, to get

  371. a point. a cross somehow to reach someone, you

  372. say, well, that's silly. I know it is, but it

  373. touched somebody. Amen? And that's all there

  374. is to know about this. When we prepare, we declare,

  375. thus saith the Lord. And the declaration of the

  376. Lord is the liberating power that goes forth

  377. when the word is proclaimed. It is the word that

  378. liberates because he is the living word and his

  379. presence goes where his words declared. Faith

  380. comes only by hearing and hearing by the word

  381. of God. So he's preached the word. They're crowded

  382. in the house. They came unto him, bringing one

  383. sick of the palsy, which was born of four. We

  384. got a paralyzed man being carried by four friends,

  385. making their way to the house. Why? Because it

  386. had been noised. It had been declared that that

  387. guy's back over there to cast the devils out.

  388. He's back in the house. If we can just get our

  389. friend there. See, there's faith in the declaration

  390. already before an act is ever lived out. If we

  391. can get him there, you got four fellas. that

  392. take up a paralyzed man, palsy. This condition

  393. of palsy somehow has separated the response between

  394. the brain and the body. The man's thinking right.

  395. He's thinking very clearly. Everything's going

  396. fine, but there's a disconnect between his brain

  397. and his body. My Lord, isn't there a lot of that

  398. going on these days? There's a disconnect. There's

  399. a palsy in man spiritually, and many are suffering

  400. from a physical condition of palsy. There's a

  401. separation somewhere. So these four men say,

  402. if he can cast the devil out of a man, if he

  403. can heal Peter's mother -in -law's fever, and

  404. if he can do these other things that we, oh,

  405. there's a leprous man that got healed, amen?

  406. He healed a leprous man, and he went out. Jesus

  407. told him to keep it quiet, just kind of hold

  408. it down. Go and show yourself to the priest.

  409. Offer up. what the law of Moses declares for

  410. you to offer, and just try to kind of keep it

  411. down. No, look here. If I was a leper and got

  412. healed, you're not going to tell me to keep it

  413. down either. I'm sorry, Lord, but here is one

  414. point of disobedience. I cannot keep this to

  415. myself. This is what you have done for me. I

  416. was a leper doomed to death and ostracized from

  417. society, but you have cleansed me, and you have

  418. healed me, and everybody's going to know who

  419. it is that has done it. went out and told everybody,

  420. hey, Jesus healed me. I was a leper, but look,

  421. look, my sores are gone, my ears back, the end

  422. of my nose. He put it back on my face. Look at

  423. me, look at me, look at me. I am healed way before

  424. he ever got to church. He told everybody who

  425. would listen, and fame is spread out, and now

  426. he's come back to town, and he's in that house

  427. over there. Those four could have maybe known

  428. the leper, and oh, if he healed him, if we can

  429. get old Bob in the house, I think he'll touch

  430. him. And they get there and they can't get in

  431. because the house is already full. His presence

  432. has already been. How can we get in? They begin

  433. to sing the old hymn. I will not be denied. No,

  434. I will not be denied. Go on the roof and make

  435. a hole. I will not be denied. I made that verse

  436. up. Sounded good, though. That's what they did.

  437. They made their way onto the roof, and they tore

  438. a hole in it. Many of us suffer from conditions

  439. of paralysis of faith, of emotion. We suffer

  440. from paralysis in many different ways. We all

  441. suffered from the paralysis of sin. Hello? We

  442. all suffered from that. Somewhere or another,

  443. we're all like this man in a condition. There's

  444. something that we cannot do for ourselves. You

  445. may be sitting in here this morning thinking,

  446. I wish you'd hurry up for one. But secondly,

  447. I'm just getting started, so hang on. You may

  448. have something going on in your life that you

  449. are powerless to reverse. You can't do it. You

  450. may have all of your right faculties, but you

  451. still cannot alter the event that's taking place.

  452. That's what was going on with this man. He could

  453. not change his condition. He couldn't even get

  454. up and go do anything about it. He had to be

  455. taken by friends so that he may find some help

  456. and some relief. So I don't know what it is that

  457. may be going on in our lives, but sometimes there

  458. are those things that we are powerless. to remove

  459. on our own. But thank God, hallelujah, we don't

  460. have to do it on our own. Just like I declared

  461. to you earlier, he is able. His presence makes

  462. all the difference in the world. Thank God that

  463. that man had four friends who had enough confidence

  464. in Jesus for him. If we can get him in there,

  465. we can get him healed. The Lord will touch him.

  466. Amen. So they go to the rooftop, and after they

  467. broke through, my God, God, you've got to have

  468. a determination. It's not just easy to get up

  469. there. Then you've got to break your way through.

  470. Sometimes you've got to push your way through

  471. the press when you get in the house in order.

  472. They couldn't get in, but they made their way.

  473. I've got to get in his presence. That's the reason

  474. that just church, check in the box, doesn't do.

  475. Anybody any good? Just to get up and say, well,

  476. I went. No, I don't get up just to say I went.

  477. I don't preach just to say, well, I gave a little

  478. homily out there. No, I preach for effect. I

  479. declare, thus saith the Lord, for the power of

  480. the effect of the declaration. Because I have

  481. faith in Jesus. I have faith in his presence

  482. because there's too many documented testimonies

  483. declaring what he can do. You never know what

  484. service that you're going to push your way into

  485. that you have to take the roof off of the situation

  486. that's going on in your life and push your way

  487. through and make your way in to his presence.

  488. You've got to get through the doubters. You've

  489. got to get through the fingernail clippers. You've

  490. got to get through the checkbook balancers. Come

  491. on. You've got to make your way through the baby

  492. players. Are you hearing me? You've got to make

  493. your way past the board and the humdrum who's

  494. sitting two rows over and three rows back. You've

  495. got to push your way into his. Because everybody

  496. that comes in isn't driven by desire to be in

  497. his presence. what I just said not wrong those

  498. of us who know his power to save and heal and

  499. to deliver should now be actively involved in

  500. reaching those who are still bound still oppressed

  501. still sick still afflicted still lost And do

  502. all that we can do to bring them into his presence.

  503. That is if we have enough faith and trust in

  504. the declaration of the word that's being preached

  505. in the house. That we know if they'll come his

  506. presence is going to show up. And if they can

  507. get past everything. That's why it's so important

  508. that we be reverent in church. Amen. I'm not

  509. talking stoic and silent. I'm talking about reverent

  510. because you never know what hell someone's living

  511. in on the row in front of you or the row behind

  512. you. Are you hearing me? People live through

  513. hell every week. The devil is out to steal, kill,

  514. and to destroy. And he's tormenting the minds

  515. of the people who are coming in, who are being

  516. thrown in because of his presence. Because somebody

  517. said that the word's going out over there. Man,

  518. we're really having church. The Spirit of the

  519. Lord. is showing up at Hopewell. Man, you ought

  520. to come and go to church with us. And so it's

  521. important because we never know who comes through

  522. the doors who are suffering from a condition

  523. of some type of palsy that has them stricken

  524. and paralyzed so that they can't even move. They

  525. can't even hardly go about. And yet they got

  526. enough strength to come because you were excited

  527. enough to tell them. And they made their way

  528. in. And my Lord, let's not let it be a disappointment.

  529. they get into the house, that his presence is

  530. here. You never know what doctor's visit somebody's

  531. had this past week. We never know what devastating

  532. news someone may have got. They may have a whiter

  533. smile because they got a good report. Not every

  534. report is bad. Right? Sometimes we get that affirmating

  535. report that says the Lord is at work. And so

  536. we ought to be the ones shouting the loudest.

  537. Woo! I got a good report. We ought to be excited.

  538. We ought to be trying to get others in the house.

  539. Just by a point of curiosity, how many of you

  540. know today without a doubt that Jesus has touched

  541. you in some direct, specific way? You know it.

  542. Where you at? You know it. You know if it hadn't

  543. been for Jesus and his presence, it would just

  544. be too late. We know it. And if you know it,

  545. my Lord, and he's done that for you. And we look

  546. around the room and we see how many others that

  547. he's done it for. Why can't he do it for the

  548. ones who couldn't or didn't raise their hand?

  549. Amen. He can. Why can't he do it for those that

  550. we come in contact with who share with us? If

  551. we'll just give them a minute or two in conversation,

  552. it won't take somebody long. They're looking

  553. for somewhere to vent. They're looking for somewhere

  554. that they can find help. They're looking for

  555. someone who will give them hope. And my Lord,

  556. you and I are bound up and wrapped in help and

  557. hope. Amen. You and I have it. And you can share

  558. it with them when you tell them, Jesus, he is

  559. your answer. And we can call on him right now.

  560. I want you to come and worship with me. When

  561. they couldn't come near for the press. Do you

  562. know there's some things that you're not going

  563. to get without fighting for? There are some things

  564. that won't come without pressing in. There's

  565. some bondages. There's some habits, addictions,

  566. lust of your flesh. Sicknesses and diseases,

  567. strongholds of the mind that aren't going to

  568. change until we're willing to press. Somebody

  569. said one time, if it's worth having, then it's

  570. worth fighting for. And if it works that way

  571. in the house of God, then I guess Matthew 11

  572. and 12 kind of pens it right. The kingdom of

  573. heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take

  574. it by force. I guess Paul had it right when he

  575. was telling the church at Corinth, for though

  576. we walk in the flesh, we don't war after the

  577. flesh. Amen? I guess Paul had it right when he

  578. was talking to the church in Ephesus. He said,

  579. when you haven't done all you can do to stand.

  580. He said, stand therefore, having put on the whole

  581. armor of God. If you need armor, then that means

  582. there's a fight about to take place. My Lord,

  583. there's a battle about to go down. Amen. I despise

  584. everything about the devil. Do you know how uncomfortable

  585. it is sleeping in your armor? I don't take it

  586. off. I don't lay my armor aside. Hallelujah.

  587. I don't take off my helmet of salvation. Why?

  588. Because I need it in my dreams. Amen. I need

  589. my mind protected by the presence of God. I need

  590. my mind saturated with the Word of God that when

  591. I lay me down to sleep and I pray the Lord my

  592. soul to keep, I know that it's not just a children's

  593. nursery rhyme prayer. I can lay down and say

  594. now, Lord, I pray my soul to keep. And if my

  595. life leaves, me in my last breath in my sleep.

  596. My soul is the most important thing. Hallelujah.

  597. And if the Lord is the keeper of my soul, then

  598. I can lay down and have a peaceful night's rest.

  599. You can have a peaceful night's rest regardless

  600. of what your bladder does to you. Yep. Regardless,

  601. those catnaps in between, those trips to the

  602. bathroom can garner you more rest than not waking

  603. up till the morning. If he who keeps you. Isn't

  604. it wonderful to know his presence is real? They

  605. couldn't get in for the press. There was a day

  606. that news came to Jesus about a good dear friend

  607. of his, Lazarus. The friend whom he loved grew

  608. sick and had died. He got word before Lazarus

  609. died. And the scripture says he tarried. Now

  610. I know if you're like me, don't wait around,

  611. Lord. If you're coming, come on. Huh? If you're

  612. going to come anyway, I just assume you come

  613. on. Amen. If you're going to show up, I just

  614. assume you show up on day one. It's day four.

  615. So he and his disciples, he's telling them, hey,

  616. I got word our buddy's sick and he's sleeping.

  617. I said, well, Lord, if he's resting, it's good

  618. for you to rest when you're sick. He said, no,

  619. you don't understand, boys, he dead. Well, we

  620. need to get on over. We'll get there. Been a

  621. long day. I preached hard today. I'm going to

  622. rest. We'll go tomorrow. Well, he shows up four

  623. days later. But I'm telling you, he makes the

  624. difference. That's the whole point of all this.

  625. When he shows up, he makes the difference. Now,

  626. here comes Sister Martha running out. who's had

  627. a few encounters with Jesus. Martha, Martha.

  628. She said, Lord, now she's trying to change her

  629. ways. Lord, I know that if you'd been here, you

  630. would have healed him and he wouldn't have died.

  631. I know it. So she's proclaiming her faith, right?

  632. Martha. I'm the resurrection and life. So she's

  633. going to. She's going to double up on this faith

  634. thing. She'd been paying attention. When she

  635. finally sat down with Mary at his feet, she was

  636. paying attention. Oh, I know that he's going

  637. to live again. Martha, you're still not getting

  638. it, honey. I am. The resurrection. And now she's

  639. starting to scratch her head. Where did y 'all?

  640. Where's his stone at? Where's his marker? You

  641. ever gone to the graveyard and you try to find

  642. a loved one or a friend and you have to ask the

  643. caretaker, where's section so -and -so, right?

  644. Where's their marker? If a family member tells

  645. you, well, we finally got Grandma's marker and

  646. we put it up last week, you want to go see Granny's

  647. marker. Well, where's it at? Well, it's third

  648. row down, four rows back toward the end. What's

  649. it look like? Well, we got granny a nice black

  650. granite stone. And it's really pretty. You can't

  651. miss it. When you get over there and there's

  652. five black granite. Where did you lay him? Well,

  653. he's over here. Well, let's go. Well, Lord. And

  654. then here Martha shows up. The real Martha shows

  655. up. Well, Lord, it's been four days. He's stinking

  656. now. Where'd that faith go? What happened to

  657. Martha's faith? All of a sudden, Lord, if you'd

  658. have been here, he would not have died. Hallelujah.

  659. Is it like if he didn't show up when you wanted

  660. him, he can't still turn around what you need?

  661. I mean, is that what? Tell what the deal is,

  662. and he goes a little bit further, saying, you

  663. know, there's a resurrection coming. Oh, I know

  664. it's going to live again, the resurrection. I

  665. know what's going to happen. You're still not

  666. getting this. I am able. Where's the stone? Roll

  667. the stone away. Lord, the boy stinks. He's been

  668. four days. And you know his spirit only hangs

  669. around by tradition three days. He done gone.

  670. The boy's gone. There's no hope bringing him

  671. back. Just get the rock out the way. Some of

  672. you have got stones rolled up and he's trying

  673. to do some stuff in your life and you won't move

  674. the rock. Where's the issue? Well, Lord, you

  675. know it's too late now. My Lord, I've done had

  676. to live through it. Done had to deal with it.

  677. Why fool with it now? Oh, my Lord, I'm preaching

  678. to somebody. Why change it now? We've done greed.

  679. We've done paid the mourners off. You know, they

  680. hired them. I love, we ain't got time. What time

  681. is it? Is it really? You watching me, ain't you,

  682. Camo? Grandson got me on the clock. So you want

  683. me to hurry? Now what you gonna say? Huh? Huh.

  684. Where was I at? We got stones in front of situations

  685. and issues that we refuse to move. What are you

  686. saying? They had to break their way in to gain

  687. access. Sometimes you've got to roll some things

  688. out of the way to grant him access. My God, I'm

  689. preaching to you now. Some of you got your own

  690. stones rolled up, and you think because he didn't

  691. do it when you thought you needed it done that

  692. he can't do it now. I'm here to tell you, it

  693. doesn't matter if it's one day late, two day

  694. late, three day late, four day late. It doesn't

  695. matter when, but when his presence shows up,

  696. he says, roll the stone away. the thing out of

  697. the way. When he declares a word to you and you

  698. show up and he shows up and you're together and

  699. he says, if you'll get it out of the way, I'll

  700. deal with it. He don't want to know about your

  701. faith. He don't want to know that you understand

  702. theology. Eschatology, he don't want to know

  703. that you were listening on rapture course day.

  704. He wants you to get the stone out of the way.

  705. Get the obstruction out of the way. My Lord.

  706. Do you know there's three more points to this?

  707. We'll never get it today. You got to get it out

  708. of the way. You got to roll it out of the way.

  709. Just move the stone. I'll take care of the rest.

  710. That's what he said. Just give it to me. I'll

  711. take care of it. I'll take care of it. Then we

  712. hear that declaration. Blasters come forth. That's

  713. not what happened. He lifted up his voice. I've

  714. heard it said, you know, he could not just declare

  715. come forth. I don't know how many flat spots

  716. was in the cave that he was put in. But if he'd

  717. have just said come forth when access was granted,

  718. everybody in there would have come out. So he

  719. had to be specific. Lazarus, come forth. I preached

  720. this before and I love it. Somebody in the mummy

  721. wrap lane didn't wrap his feet tight. They give

  722. old Lazarus a little wiggle room. They didn't

  723. have him just bound up tight. The one at the

  724. feet kind of let down on the job. Burial wrap.

  725. They give him just enough room to come out. Lazarus,

  726. come forth. I can hear him in there. off of me.

  727. He hadn't been there long enough for it to start

  728. to rot. Hello? It don't been four days. He couldn't

  729. rip it. He couldn't hulk out on it. But he made

  730. his way out. And man, do you know if you just

  731. give him access, doesn't matter how bound you

  732. feel like you are, you got enough room to get

  733. to him. You got enough wiggle to get to him.

  734. Doesn't matter how bound up and how tightly you

  735. feel like you're wound. If he calls, you start

  736. making your way. It'll get easier. It'll get

  737. easier as you go. You have to press through some

  738. things. Don't have time to preach to the woman.

  739. With the issue of blood. She came up behind in

  740. the crowd. The press. She had to push her way

  741. in. You know, sometimes you've got to keep enough

  742. faith to get you in. But once you get in, he

  743. takes over. Once you get in his presence, he

  744. does the rest. Right? But you've got to have

  745. enough faith to get there. You've got to have

  746. enough trust and confidence. They uncovered the

  747. roof. When they uncovered the roof, they let

  748. the bed down. There's a principle in our faith.

  749. What goes up first must go down. The way up is

  750. down. How so, pastor? We humble ourselves under

  751. the mighty hand of God. Why? So that he may exalt

  752. us, lift us up. In due season. We humble ourselves.

  753. Because there is an anointing that will never

  754. accompany the proud. The self -assured. The self

  755. -sufficient. There's an anointing that will never

  756. come to those who refuse to go down. Down to

  757. self. Into self -denial, down to submission,

  758. down in obedience, down in humility. We have

  759. to be obedient as Naaman. Naaman was angry when

  760. he received the instruction from the prophet.

  761. He wanted the man of God to come out and do some

  762. big whoopity -woo over him, and he didn't do

  763. it. He sent his servant out and said, get yourself

  764. to Jordan and dip seven times and everything

  765. will be fine. Mad. Left kicking rocks. But he

  766. went. He had to go down. Where did Jeremiah go?

  767. He went down to the potter's house. And he saw

  768. work upon the wheel. David went down into the

  769. valley of Elah and faced his giant. But he's

  770. elevated as king of Israel. The way up. It's

  771. down. So they let him down into the Lord's presence.

  772. And he hears your sins be forgiven. Tears everybody

  773. in the room up. Stand with me. I'm going to wind

  774. it down. I won't make you stand long if you're

  775. on your feet. But if you're sitting, we're good

  776. for another 15. So stand. I'll feel sorry for

  777. you if you're standing. And I want to keep you

  778. 12. But sin is the first issue. It's the first

  779. issue of priority in our lives. It has to be

  780. taken care of. First. What's that mean? If you've

  781. not repented of your sins, you have to repent

  782. first. You have to accept Christ as Savior before

  783. accessing Him as healer. Deliverer. Provider.

  784. So sin is the first issue. And Jesus wanted them

  785. to know that. Oh, you're speaking blasphemies.

  786. There's nobody can forgive sin but God. And he

  787. wasn't blaspheming. He was making a point to

  788. let them know who he was right up at the beginning

  789. of this thing. And he understands the conversation

  790. because he knows their thoughts. You need to

  791. go through and study in the New Testament. How

  792. many times that the word declares and he discerned

  793. their thoughts and he knew. He knew what everybody

  794. was thinking all the time. Can't hide anything

  795. from him. You, me, we can't hide anything from

  796. him. He knows. He knows. So he said to them,

  797. so that you know that I am who I am. Proclaim

  798. to be, which is easier, to say to this man your

  799. sins are forgiven or to say to him, rise, take

  800. up your bed and walk. But so that you know that

  801. I can do both, I'm going to prove this to you.

  802. He said, arise. Arise. Get up from your lower

  803. estate to a vertical estate. Do you realize the

  804. prodigal son had to have a declaration in his

  805. mind before he went? He saw the whole journey

  806. from the pig pen. He said, dad's servants has

  807. got it better than this. He said, I will arise

  808. and go to my father's house. He charted out the

  809. whole journey. He knew when he got there, dad

  810. would accept him too. You got to know that he'll

  811. accept you. You got to make your own self -declaration.

  812. You got to stand up in your mind. You got to

  813. stand up in your thinking. You got to stand up

  814. out of your depressed state and condition. You

  815. got to stand up in your emotions. You have to

  816. make a personal declaration. I will arise. Take

  817. the roof off. Move the stone out of the way,

  818. whatever your obstacle is, whatever's restricting

  819. you from allowing him access. And if it's sin

  820. in your life, that's got to be taken care of.

  821. You have to repent and accept Christ first. Too

  822. many people want his blessings without his lordship,

  823. but you don't get it. You don't get the blessing

  824. without his being Lord of your life. And you

  825. don't have that without confessing that you are

  826. a sinner and you need him to save you from yourself.

  827. Wow. So sin's got to be took care of first. But

  828. so that you know he's able to do both. Arise,

  829. take up your bed and walk. And they were all

  830. blown away. Never seen anything like this in

  831. all of my days. So, could they deny that the

  832. man's sins were forgiven? I don't think so. Because

  833. they could not deny. That he got up and walked

  834. out. So that you know the first is done. I'm

  835. going to do the second. Just to prove it. Father

  836. I love you today.
