  1. Good to see you. If you have your Bibles, go

  2. ahead and reach and get it. Man, did they not

  3. usher in the presence of the Lord today? Thank

  4. you, guys. Wonderful. Wonderful. It's always

  5. good, but some days is gooder than other days.

  6. That's the same way with what I'm about to do.

  7. Hopefully, it's always good, but some days it's

  8. better than others. I know I feel like it's better

  9. than others. Sometimes when I leave here, I think,

  10. my Lord, that was pitiful, like last week. Sure.

  11. I'm going to try not to be as personal. Tell

  12. all my tales about myself. I ain't going to try

  13. to do that no more. Appreciate you coming back.

  14. Any visitors in the house? First time visitors,

  15. anybody? Hang on, we're about to take a ride.

  16. And they got you plumbed down front. They were

  17. no better than that on your first visit. My Lord.

  18. Amen. On the 21st of September, that's a Sunday,

  19. right? I think it is. We're going to have a staff

  20. appreciation day for the people who labor among

  21. you. Amen. Pastor Brian, Sister Erica, Brother

  22. Randy, Sister Robin, Sister Sandra. We're going

  23. to appreciate them that day. Amen? I'm going

  24. to get with those. We're getting into a very

  25. highly fellowship season. So just get prepared.

  26. We're going to spend some time together over

  27. the next couple months. I hope that's okay. And

  28. if you don't want to spend time with us, stay

  29. at the house. See, there they should have warned

  30. y 'all. But if you'd like to spend time together,

  31. come on. And we're going to eat whatever's out

  32. there, and we're just going to have a wonderful

  33. time. I mean, if you do, absolutely not. You

  34. just can't stand fish. Raise your hand. Let me

  35. share something with you. Don't eat it tonight.

  36. Just don't get a piece. And you'll be fine. There's

  37. going to be some chicken strips. And all kind

  38. of side stuff for you. You won't leave hungry.

  39. There will be enough dessert that you can make

  40. it until you get to McDonald's. But what you

  41. can't find at McDonald's is each other. Amen.

  42. Fellowship is the strength of the church. We

  43. grow stronger when we're together. I firmly believe

  44. that. If you have your Bibles, be turning to

  45. Exodus chapter 40, Exodus 40. We're about, well,

    Exodus 40 chapter mention

  46. we started last week. I'm going to preach for

  47. a little bit until the Lord turns me loose from

  48. it. On this, a visit to the archives. Yeah, a

  49. visit to the archives. And what that means is,

  50. as the Lord leads me, I have four scrolls, I

  51. call them. This is the 99 version. I got four

  52. of these, and then I have some loose leaf parchment

  53. that was before that. We're going to revisit

  54. the archives, is what I call it. And we're going

  55. to drag out the papyrus. And I don't have any

  56. animal skins. I'm not that old. But for the next

  57. last week and for the next few weeks, I will

  58. be preaching from the previous century. Messages

  59. that the Lord spurred me on early. And what I

  60. got to thinking about that, the previous century.

  61. Makes me sound really old. I am getting there.

  62. Thank you, Fred, for that reminder. Always a

  63. brother in Christ to keep lifting you up. Appreciate

  64. that. It's okay, Sister Ann. We're going to be

  65. all right. You are. Well, truth is truth, isn't

  66. it? Yeah. Exodus 40. A visit to the archives.

  67. Verse 34 reads, Then a cloud covered the tent

  68. of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord

  69. filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able

  70. to enter into the tent of the congregation because

  71. the cloud abode their own. And the glory of the

  72. Lord filled the tabernacle. And when the cloud

  73. was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children

  74. of Israel went onward in all their journeys.

  75. But if the cloud were not taken up, then they

  76. journeyed not till the day that it was taken

  77. up. For the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle

  78. by day and fire was on it by night in the sight

  79. of all the house of Israel throughout all. Their

  80. journeys. A visit to the archive. This little

  81. word today is a secret to our success. A secret

  82. to our success. Now mind you, this was in the

  83. last century. Lord, I love you and I thank you.

  84. Thank you for your goodness and your mercy. Your

  85. help, your hope. And all that we need today is

  86. in you. And so I ask, Lord, now for your richest

  87. blessings. And on our ears to hear, Lord, send

  88. forth that spirit that causes it to be easy to

  89. preach. And, Lord, we will leave this place strengthened

  90. and built up through your anointing. In Christ's

  91. name, the church said, amen. There was a Google

  92. search done a little bit ago on the secret. And

  93. there were over 500 million results came back.

  94. Everybody's got their own secret. If there's

  95. 500 million letting it out, I don't think it's

  96. a secret anymore. The secret's out. Amen? When

  97. we begin to look at this passage of Scripture

  98. here, it's the ending of the book of Exodus.

  99. The Spirit of the Lord is moving. The tabernacle

  100. is already constructed and His glory is sitting

  101. upon it. Amen? The cloud became the symbol of

  102. the Lord's presence. This season and time of

  103. Israel's life, they looked for the cloud. Sometimes

  104. the cloud was over them. Sometimes it was behind

  105. them. Sometimes it was in front of them, going

  106. before. The Lord was over them to shield them,

  107. behind them to protect them, in front of them

  108. to lead them to where he wanted them to be. As

  109. we look at this text this morning, I think it

  110. serves us well again as another reminder. As

  111. the Lord is over us, behind us, and before us,

  112. he's also beneath us, holding us up. Amen? So

  113. as this reminder, Moses... He gives the people

  114. in Deuteronomy 1, after a discouraging report,

  115. Moses reminds the people that God is with them

  116. in chapter 1, verses 28 through 30. Sounds like

  117. a good reminder for us today. You and I need

  118. to know that the Lord is with us, even though

  119. sometimes we receive discouraging reports. Amen?

  120. For Moses, it was those ten negative spies that

  121. come back out of the land. Oh, there's giants

  122. there. We can't go over there. Well, what does

  123. the place look like? Well, now, it's exactly

  124. like God said it was. It's flowing milk and honey.

  125. Look, we brought some fruit back. We got grapes

  126. the size of plums, right? Everything's exactly

  127. like God said, but the sons of Anak are there.

  128. There's some giants in the land, and we are not

  129. able. To take it. Well, that just hit Moses the

  130. wrong way right off the bat. I mean, it just

  131. rubbed him wrong. What do you mean? I'm here

  132. to tell you today that the Lord is encouraging

  133. us. Caleb gets excited. He gets upset. Joshua's

  134. all, they're in this thing together, he and Caleb.

  135. And Caleb says, look, we can do this. God's going

  136. before us. He's with us. He's promised, let us

  137. arise right now. Let's go get it. But how many

  138. know discouragement can really set you back?

  139. Psalm 84 and 11, the psalmist says, here's a

  140. little encouragement. For the Lord God is a sun

  141. and shield. The Lord will give grace and glory.

  142. No good thing will he withhold from them that

  143. walk uprightly. Amen? The secret to our success,

  144. we succeed when the Lord's presence is with us.

  145. I mean, the revelation's out. It's not a secret

  146. any longer. You succeed when the Lord's presence

  147. is with you. And that's what Moses is telling

  148. us, and he's letting everyone know, and he's

  149. letting Israel know. When the tabernacle was

  150. there, the glory of the Lord set on it. It was

  151. so thick, Moses couldn't even go in. They didn't

  152. go anywhere as long as the cloud was on the tabernacle.

  153. Amen? and they look for the light, how would

  154. you like to be the tent closest to the pillar

  155. of fire? I mean, it was lit all night long. I

  156. can't sleep with the light on. I'm learning.

  157. It's difficult. Amen? How would you like to be

  158. that by the pillar of fire at night? Even though

  159. they're kind of camped a little bit away, everybody's

  160. all the way around it, so the light shines in

  161. everybody's tent door. Nobody's sleeping good.

  162. But can I tell you what a reassurance it would

  163. be? What happens if the light isn't shining?

  164. Oh, my Lord. What if the light isn't on? God's

  165. presence, where is he? Amen. Every night in their

  166. journey, the cloud went with them as they journeyed.

  167. Everywhere they went, the presence of the Lord

  168. went with them. Can you see where this is going

  169. already? Everywhere we go, the presence of the

  170. Lord goes with us. There's no place that you

  171. can't go. What did the psalmist say? I can go

  172. to the heavens, you're there. I can descend to

  173. the lowest. I can even go all the way down into

  174. hell itself. and your presence that there's nowhere

  175. I can go that I can escape you. Somebody needs

  176. to know that this morning. Wherever you're at,

  177. whatever danger you may find yourself in, whatever

  178. battle zone, whatever foot of the mountain that

  179. you're looking up, everywhere you go, God is

  180. going with you, especially the presence of the

  181. Lord goes with those who are walking uprightly.

  182. Therein lies the key. Here is the secret. For

  183. the Lord God is a sun and a shield. The Lord

  184. will give grace and glory. No good thing will

  185. he withhold. from them that walk uprightly. You

  186. go in him, his grace goes with you, his presence

  187. goes before you. And when we begin to look at

  188. this secret to success, keys to success, I looked

  189. up some of these. There were several different

  190. ones. One of them, this is the keys, seven keys

  191. to success. Ambition, focus, hustle, patience,

  192. persistence, grind, or grit, and sacrifice. Another

  193. one said desire, direction, destination, drive.

  194. Determination, dedication, and discipline. Factor

  195. of four for success. Hard work. 84 % of Americans

  196. said if you work hard, you're going to succeed.

  197. Another 65 % said talent. If you got the talent,

  198. you're going to succeed. 55 % said it's who you

  199. know. It's the people you know. It's the network

  200. that you're in. 55 % of people say you cannot

  201. succeed without that network. And then the others

  202. said luck and circumstance. Well, I'm crossing

  203. that out right there. I do not believe in luck.

  204. Why, pastor, don't you believe in luck? Because

  205. luck is happenstance. I happen to believe that

  206. the steps of a good man are ordered of the Lord.

  207. Amen. I happen to believe that God is sovereign,

  208. and he will favor those who walk uprightly before

  209. him, and no good thing will he withhold from

  210. them according to his word. So it's not luck.

  211. If good things are coming your way, it's because

  212. the hand of God is looking over you. It's the

  213. favor of God. that is bestowing upon you. It's

  214. not luck, honey. It's the goodness of God. It's

  215. the presence of God that is going with you. Oh,

  216. then what is the bad stuff? It's the enemy coming

  217. against you, or it's a test of your faith. But

  218. even in the bad stuff, even when things are going

  219. wrong, God's presence is still there. The cloud

  220. is still with you. The fire will still go and

  221. illuminate the darkness of your life. He's not

  222. going to forsake you, and he'll not hold any

  223. good thing in the midst of what bad is going

  224. on in our life. See, we think bad stuff happening

  225. is the absence of God's presence. No, it's not.

  226. That's what the devil said. Well, if God loves

  227. you, he wouldn't let that happen to you. He loves

  228. me. He let it happen to me. And he's going to

  229. give me grace to get through it. Amen? So some

  230. of the secret things to our success. Number one

  231. is understanding your salvation. Amen? Salvation.

  232. It's not a secret. It's out there. Amen? It's

  233. openly and it's widely known. 2 Chronicles 20,

  234. 17 says, You shall not need to fight in this

  235. battle. Set yourselves, stand you still, and

  236. see the salvation of the Lord with you. When

  237. there's hardships coming your way, when you're

  238. not looking at a mountain, but you're looking

  239. at a Red Sea, and the people around you are panicking,

  240. amen? We were watching, what was that little

  241. show we was watching last night? The Incredibles,

  242. right? I was watching. me and Cameron and six

  243. guys sitting there watching Incredibles and it's

  244. when the plane was shot down and the kids and

  245. mama's in the in the in the water there and the

  246. kids are just going off they're panicking and

  247. hollering she said She pushed up to it and said,

  248. we're not going to panic. Don't panic, amen.

  249. Your ship's not going down. He's not going to

  250. let you go down. His salvation is with you. What

  251. does salvation mean? By definition, salvation,

  252. a person or thing that is a means or cause or

  253. the source of preservation and rescue. That's

  254. what it is. And when you understand that the

  255. salvation of the Lord is with you, sometimes

  256. you have to get a grip on yourself and say, self,

  257. stand. Stand still. Seth, get a grip. Seth, don't

  258. move. Rest assured that you're in the grace and

  259. the love and the power of God. But stand still

  260. and see. the source of your help. Stand still

  261. and realize the source of your rescue. Hallelujah.

  262. Because the Lord is thy salvation. Hallelujah.

  263. And when you begin, the only reason we succeed

  264. is because of the Lord's goodness and his rescuing

  265. efforts of our everyday life. And because I have

  266. been rescued, I know that I shall succeed. Now

  267. remember, I'm 30 years younger. I'm everywhere

  268. with this. Now I just do good to hold on to it.

  269. The problem is your and my definition of success.

  270. That's where the dilemma comes in. It's how you

  271. define whether you're succeeding or not. It's

  272. like 58 % of Americans feel like you're succeeding

  273. if you make over $200 ,000 a year. That leaves

  274. a bunch of us out as failures. If you're in here

  275. and you're over that, God bless you, then you're

  276. succeeding according to America's standards.

  277. You're succeeding. Hallelujah. But let me tell

  278. somebody in here, it's broke, busted, and about

  279. halfway disgusted. That 200K is not the measurement

  280. of your success. Neither is it the measurement

  281. or the measure which you go by as your encouragement

  282. and you get your joy from it. Hallelujah. No,

  283. that is not where it comes from. But for us all,

  284. the 200K and over and the 25K and under, we get

  285. our goodness and we get our blessings from the

  286. Lord. And my joy and my success is not wrapped

  287. up in my bank account. The joy of the Lord, that's

  288. what's bringing about. And we're going to get

  289. to that in point number three if we ever get

  290. off a point. Number one, but the reason we are

  291. succeeding is because of the salvation of the

  292. Lord. You succeed. Some of the richest people

  293. in this world don't have two quarters to rub

  294. together, but they have the salvation of the

  295. Lord secure in their heart. And when hard times

  296. come, they stand, they sit themselves, and they

  297. watch for and see the delivering power of God

  298. in their life. Hallelujah. Exodus 14, 13 -14,

  299. Moses said unto the people, Fear you not. Stand

  300. still, see the salvation of the Lord, which he

  301. will show to you today. For the Egyptians, whom

  302. you have seen today, you shall see them again

  303. no more forever. The Lord shall fight for you,

  304. and you shall hold your peace. Now, isn't that

  305. very encouraging? Because the Lord is my source.

  306. The Lord is the means whereby I am rescued and

  307. delivered. That's what salvation is. And when

  308. I understand, look. When you get a good grip

  309. and a good hold on your relationship with God

  310. through his son, Jesus Christ, emboldened by

  311. the power of the Holy Ghost, let me tell you,

  312. you can walk your way through Bank Repsy Court

  313. and come out shouting on the other side. How

  314. do you know? Because I've walked down through

  315. there. And I'm here to tell you right now, you

  316. can do it and you can hold your head up. I know

  317. the devil tries to put shame on us, but who is

  318. he anyway? He's the condemner of us, but God

  319. is. He's the one who is the restorer of our soul.

  320. And I'm here to tell you it doesn't matter how

  321. broke you are or have been or how wealthy you

  322. are or have been. All of the in -between of that

  323. is surely knowing that you have a good, firm

  324. grip on the salvation that you have from Christ,

  325. through Christ, and in Christ. And only by that

  326. can we succeed at anything in life. I'm here

  327. to tell you right now, if you don't work at your

  328. relationship with God, it will fail. It's just

  329. like anything. Any other attempt you do in life,

  330. any attempt at business or work, if you don't

  331. put in forth the effort, then you're going to

  332. fail at it. If you're not going to put forth

  333. effort at school, they will give you zeros. I've

  334. got a few bonus points in the past just for effort.

  335. Didn't mean it was correct. They felt sorry for

  336. me, but look, I'll take it. I tried. One thing's

  337. for sure, if you do not ever try, you will never

  338. succeed. It works that way with your relationship

  339. with God. You have to put forth your best foot

  340. and walk in his grace and walk out the salvation

  341. that he so freely gives to us. And once you get

  342. a hold of that, everything in between, you'll

  343. be like the Apostle Paul. He said, I have found

  344. whatsoever state I'm in therein to be content.

  345. If I'm abounding, I'm happy. base, I'm happy.

  346. It doesn't matter what shape I'm in. It doesn't

  347. matter what the enemy throws at me. It doesn't

  348. matter what they come against me with. I've got

  349. a good grip. One thing I do. This one thing I

  350. do, brethren, I'm trying to get a grip on what's

  351. got a grip on me. And I'm trying hard to do it.

  352. But the very thing that I do, first of all, is

  353. I forget those things which are behind me. And

  354. I press toward the mark for the prize of the

  355. high calling of God in Christ Jesus. That's the

  356. way you're going to make it. You put the past

  357. behind you, put Christ before you, and know it's

  358. the glory that you have in the power of salvation.

  359. You can make it. Well, visit to the archives.

  360. We got a couple more verses for salvation. There's

  361. four points to this thing. It ain't gonna happen.

  362. So we'll just take our time. How's that? 2 Samuel

  363. 22, 47. The Lord liveth, and blessed be my rock,

  364. and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.

  365. We used to sing that little verse. The Lord liveth,

  366. blessed be the rock. May the God of my salvation

  367. be exalted. Hosanna. Right? Hosanna. Give us

  368. that little old song right there. There's an

  369. understanding. The Lord liveth and blessed be

  370. my rock. And exalted be the God of the rock of

  371. my salvation. Again, Psalm 725 and 5. Lead me

  372. into thy truth and teach me, for thou art the

  373. God of my salvation. And on thee do I wait all

  374. the day long. Whichever one of these people put

  375. patience on their list for success, you've got

  376. to be patient. Amen. And I know I'm looking at

  377. a bunch of patient people. Yeah, you've got all

  378. day, all week, all month. You've got the rest

  379. of your life, and you're just patiently waiting.

  380. No, that's not the way we wait. We wait anxiously,

  381. don't we? Well, let me just say I do. I wait

  382. anxiously. You say, well, you're the pastor.

  383. Well, I still get tore up myself. Amen. I still

  384. am in a hurry for God to do what I need him to

  385. do. Come on now. How many of you just got the

  386. rest of your life to wait on him to do what he's

  387. got to do? Well, if necessary, we do. But that's

  388. not the plan in our mind. I need God to move,

  389. and I need God to move yesterday. Today's a little

  390. late, but I'm still here, and I'm still waiting.

  391. That's just the way we process. That's the way

  392. we are as human beings. We want what we want.

  393. when we want it and how we want it. Amen. But

  394. listen, when we wait patiently for the Lord,

  395. it all works out in the Lord's will. It always

  396. works out for his purpose. And when it works

  397. out to his will and his purpose, we become the

  398. ones who are blessed by it. So wait, I say, on

  399. the Lord. Wait, I say. Wait patiently on the

  400. Lord. Why? Because they that wait upon the Lord

  401. shall renew their strength. Hallelujah. They

  402. shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall

  403. walk, not grow weary. They shall run and not

  404. faint. Come on, somebody. We've got to learn.

  405. to wait, wait, wait, wait, wait on the salvation

  406. of God to be released into your situation. Let's

  407. see. Oh, 2 Corinthians 6 and 2 says, For he saith,

  408. I have heard thee in a time acceptable, and in

  409. the day of salvation have I secured thee. Behold,

  410. now is the accepted time. Behold, now is the

  411. day of salvation. What does all that mean? The

  412. Lord's got it marked for you. He's got it marked

  413. for us. Whatever going on, whatever dilemma,

  414. whatever situation's going on in our life, there

  415. is a day that he has marked down. How can you

  416. say that? Because when the time was perfect,

  417. God sent forth his son. Hello, are you with me?

  418. When the time was right. There was an appointed

  419. time for Christ's birth, and he wasn't coming

  420. before, and it wasn't going to be after. But

  421. when the time was accomplished, God sent forth

  422. his son. Can I tell you, when the time is accomplished

  423. for the dilemmas and the situations of our life,

  424. according to his word, God is going to send forth

  425. his salvation, and there's nothing the devil

  426. can do about it. Are you hearing me? When God

  427. says it's coming, there's nothing the devil can

  428. do about it. Ask old Daniel. He prayed 21 days

  429. locked up. Amen. And the angel was dispatched

  430. with his answer. And he was hindered by the prince

  431. of the power of the air of Persia. And the fight

  432. was on. But let me tell you something. When the

  433. answer is dispatched towards you, there may be

  434. a delay. But God hasn't denied you your petition.

  435. Hallelujah. So you got to wait. You got to wait.

  436. You got to wait. And we are, I mean, we just

  437. ooze with waiting. I avoided Zaxby's the other

  438. day because I didn't want to wait for the line

  439. wrapped around the building. Traded one line

  440. for another. We went to Chick -fil -A. But they've

  441. got two lines and they move faster. I love it.

  442. They come to the window and say, can I have a

  443. name for your order? I said, Harold. Don't ever

  444. give them your real name in case you lose it

  445. while you're waiting. They don't say, they said,

  446. give me your name, then I'm hooked. I can't say

  447. Harold. I have to tell them my name. But when

  448. they said, I need a name for your order, Larry.

  449. Fred, let's go with Fred. You really want to

  450. blow their mind, I tell them, Kathy. Every one

  451. of them looks up. Without doubt. I say, it's

  452. her. She's eating today, not me. I'm on carnivore.

  453. Give me some grilled chicken nuggets. They're

  454. good, but they're not as good as them with that

  455. stuff all over them. We just don't wait well.

  456. Tune it up. Because look, until you learn to

  457. wait on the Lord, he's going to make you wait

  458. on him. Until you learn to wait, wait not as

  459. in twiddling our thumbs and patting our foot.

  460. Some of you just do this. Just get all tore up.

  461. How long is it going to be? How much longer is

  462. it going to be? How much longer I got to wait?

  463. Wait, as in defined as serve. Lord, let me wait

  464. on you. Let me get down here and worship you.

  465. Holy is the Lord. Holy is the Lord. Glory to

  466. your name. Amen. Let me wait on you. Lord, I

  467. love you and I thank you and I praise you. Oh,

  468. thank you for what you've done for me. Thank

  469. you for what you're going to do. Let me wait

  470. on you. Wait upon the Lord. While I'm down there.

  471. Amen. Or while I'm walking with my hands. Let

  472. me just lift up my hands unto the Lord. Amen.

  473. Let me lift them up. Let me do what the psalmist

  474. said. Let me do a wave offering. Somebody give

  475. him a wave. We used to do that a lot when I was

  476. a kid. Pastors say, give the Lord a wave offering.

  477. What's that mean? Here I am. Lord, and I know

  478. where you are. Hallelujah, and I'm just offering

  479. you with the body that you've given me. Let me

  480. give you a little prayer. Give the Lord a way.

  481. Oh, clap your hands, all ye people. Amen. The

  482. psalmist declares again a shout with the voice

  483. of triumph. While I'm waiting, Lord, just let

  484. me shout for your glory. If we learn to wait

  485. like that, time goes by. Succeed because he succeeds.

  486. He refuses to allow us to fail. Again, you may

  487. have to redefine your definition of success.

  488. Because what he sees as success and what you

  489. and I know as success are two totally different

  490. things. The Lord sees worship. I always think

  491. of that little widow woman and her might. As

  492. Jesus is set by the offering bucket at the temple,

  493. watching people come in and give their offering.

  494. Some come in with vast amounts and make sure

  495. everybody see them. They jingle it, they shake

  496. it, and then they put it in. When everybody know

  497. how much, they didn't really get the Lord's attention

  498. that much. But when that little widow woman come

  499. up with that little old... Penny offering. Come

  500. on now. Had that little penny offering and she

  501. put it in. It stopped the Lord and he stopped

  502. his disciples. Look, look, look. I want you to

  503. look. There's worship. The others gave out of

  504. their excess. She has given out of her need.

  505. Take mind of that. Amen. Take mind of that. Sometimes

  506. you sow your way out of a drought. I'm going

  507. to get hung up right here. Sometimes you sow

  508. your way out of brokenness. Our church has done

  509. that. We gave our way out of debt. We gave Gideon's

  510. money when we didn't have any money to give.

  511. We should have gave it to somebody else. Like

  512. a lender. We put. Bibles, somewhere, wherever

  513. they put them, we sowed. We sowed into ministers'

  514. lives in the state of Illinois when their overseer

  515. phoned in and talked to the state council of

  516. Tennessee when we were in the state council meeting,

  517. talking to our bishop. Had a need, had a request.

  518. Wasn't much. I've heard a whole lot more. I think

  519. it was like $3 ,000, what he asked for, and the

  520. Holy Ghost said, you give it. I was already thinking

  521. about the conversation that Sister Robin and

  522. I had on that previous Monday. I said, Lord,

  523. if I give it, we're going to have to make it

  524. in small monthly installments. He said, I don't

  525. care how you give it, give it. So with tears

  526. dripping at a council table, I said, Bishop,

  527. Hopewell Church of God's got that covered. And

  528. we did. We did. That's how you do it. If you're

  529. broke, busted, disgusted, check your tithe record.

  530. If you're not tithing, if you're tipping, God

  531. ain't going to bless you. I've been seeing on

  532. Facebook where they're saying that they preach

  533. tithing, it's a lie. Well then, you better take

  534. it up with God. Because it's all through his

  535. book. It's a principle. It's a principle of giving.

  536. predates the law, postdates the crucifixion and

  537. resurrection. And you can't convince me any different.

  538. Give your way out. Salvation. First key to our

  539. success. Second key to our success. God is your

  540. help. You say, well, that sounds like the first

  541. one. I think you're starting to catch on. There's

  542. really only one key. The psalmist said in 46

  543. and 1, God is our refuge and strength, a very

  544. present help in trouble. Psalm 121, the psalmist

  545. said, I will lift up mine eyes into the hills

  546. from whence cometh my help. My help comes from

  547. the Lord who is the maker of the heavens and

  548. the earth. And then he goes on down and he starts

  549. talking about how the Lord's going to be your

  550. keeper. Your keeper. Your keeper. The Hebrew

  551. word for keeper is protector. And then he goes

  552. on down and he says keep. Keep. Keep. Preserve.

  553. Preserve. He's going to preserve you. He's going

  554. to keep you. Some of you, I almost. Let me get

  555. to the next verse. I'm going to say some of you

  556. look like preservers. But if you'll pop that

  557. lid, you'll get fresh. Hebrews 4 .16 says, Let

  558. us therefore come bold into the throne of grace

  559. that we may attain mercy and find grace to help

  560. in the time of need. He's your help. Psalm 20.

  561. Let me go over here and read this one to you.

  562. Psalm 20. The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble.

  563. The name of the God of Jacob defend thee. Send

  564. thee help from the sanctuary and strengthen thee

  565. out of Zion. Remember, all thy offerings. and

  566. accept thy burnt sacrifice. Grant thee according

  567. to thine own heart and fulfill all thy counsel.

  568. We will rejoice in thy salvation and in the name

  569. of our God will we set up our banners. The Lord

  570. fulfill all thy petitions. Now know I that the

  571. Lord saveth his anointed. He will hear him from

  572. his holy heaven and with the saving strength

  573. of his right hand. Some trust in chariots, some

  574. in horses, but we will remember the name of the

  575. Lord our God. They are brought down and fallen,

  576. but we are risen and stand upright. Save! Lord

  577. the King hear us when we call. He'll help you.

  578. He'll be there for you. Psalm 33. I'm going to

  579. wind this thing down. You're about done. Psalm

  580. 33 and 20. Our soul waiteth for the Lord. He

  581. is our help and our shield. For our heart shall

  582. rejoice in him because we have trusted in his

  583. holy name. Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us

  584. according as we hope in thee. The Lord is your

  585. help. Psalms 60, 11, and 12. Give us help from

  586. trouble. For vain is the help of man. Though

  587. God, through God we shall do valiantly. For he

  588. it is that shall tread down our enemies. Isaiah

  589. 57 through 9. For the Lord God will help thee.

  590. We succeed because he desires for us to succeed.

  591. He hears us when we call. Part of our problem

  592. is sometimes we don't call, we complain. You

  593. better stand on that one. He hears those who

  594. call upon him. We succeed because the Lord is

  595. our salvation. We succeed because the Lord is

  596. our help. And when we're surrounded by trouble,

  597. we need to call on the Lord. Because evidently

  598. the help of man is not sufficient. We can help

  599. each other to a certain degree, can we not? And

  600. we should and we are supposed to. But the help

  601. that we need is really required of the Lord.

  602. Because when he enters in, the perception of

  603. the situation changes. The perception. I didn't

  604. say the situation. The perception that we have

  605. of the situation changes. How so, Pastor? Because

  606. when His presence is there, all things are possible

  607. to those that believe. For God, nothing is impossible.

  608. If the Lord releases us next week, I'm going

  609. to talk about the joy side of this and the refreshing.

  610. Sometimes we just need to know what to do with

  611. our trouble. We need to know what to do with

  612. our situation. We cast all of our care on the

  613. Lord. Why? For he careth for you. And what's

  614. impossible for you and I is ease to him. We sung

  615. about it. Move the immovable. Move the impossible.

  616. What was some of that other? What's that other?

  617. God we believe. Do you believe for it? Simple

  618. request this morning. If you need God to move

  619. anything, if you need God to take a mountain

  620. down to part a Red Sea, stand still and see the

  621. salvation of the Lord. Moses, what do you have

  622. in your hand? Well, it's that rod you had me

  623. pick up here a while back. Well, stretch it out.

  624. And the scripture said, and God caused the wind

  625. to begin to blow. Lord, I love you today. Lord,

  626. you know each one of us.
