  5. world and the life of all give us wisdom by a law and Enlighten

  6. our impulses, by your knowledge sanctify, our souls by your

  7. truth and Grant that we may be obedient to your words and may

  8. fulfill your Commandments at every hour.

  9. O you who enlightens the rationale with the knowledge of

  10. your greatness? He's doin light O My Lord.

  11. Our thoughts that we made meditate upon your holy and

  12. divine scriptures at all times. Oh Lord of all Father and Son

  13. and Holy Spirit forever. Amen.

  14. Double-edged sword. A Christian podcast Ministry

  15. presented by father, jonard Lazar father.

  16. Jernard is a parish priest of the mud edit Parish of the

  17. Assyrian Church of the East and Turlock.

  18. California. Here's father, jernard in life.

  19. We are encouraged to learn from our mistakes, our failures, our

  20. deficiencies be, adding our business, trading's at career,

  21. in general, our relationships, in our marriage, a church life

  22. Etc. And fairly is, we need to keep

  23. in mind, are not an indication or mistakes.

  24. They're not indications for us to stop, to give up to throw in

  25. the towel. But rather they, you know, they

  26. indicate or they encourage us in a way to try again.

  27. But diligently cautiously prudently wisely, for example,

  28. when a decision a husband or a wife, Take in his or her

  29. marriage. And the relationship is

  30. affected. And somehow goes, sour or cause

  31. us trouble and grief, he or she shouldn't give up on the

  32. marriage. Throw in the towel and come to

  33. Robin and say that we want to, you know, file for divorce.

  34. They had to try again diligently, cautiously

  35. considerately and selflessly. So you want a player on the

  36. field makes a costly mistake. When I watch my roosters

  37. battling against any other team on the field and especially to

  38. preliminarily finals. Are beginning, I think and we're

  39. hosting the rabbitohs, you know, when a, when I play a fumbles,

  40. the ball once or twice. And when I'm at the game, or at

  41. home watching it, I cried change him, substituted, the player,

  42. you know, but the coach, or the manager doesn't do that.

  43. When a player makes a Even a costly mistake, he's not

  44. immediately substituted, he or she, but they continue the game.

  45. Again, cautiously being more careful being more diligent and

  46. vigil so that they don't make the same mistake again, but if

  47. the same mistake is made once or twice and it costs the team.

  48. As I said, then the coach may, you know, substitute the player

  49. who's having a bad day on the field.

  50. So, two with Temptations. Temptations are not assigned for

  51. you and I to walk away from God and to give up.

  52. There are many benefits from Temptations.

  53. Beloved Temptations, are not actually sinning when you are

  54. tempted, you are not sinning because if Temptations are sin,

  55. if one is tempted and then we classify that as being sinning,

  56. will, then costly Christ was tempted.

  57. But if Temptations are taken lightly and carelessly, they

  58. will eventually lead you to transgression and Disobedience

  59. to the precepts, to the statues, to the Commandments, to the will

  60. to the ways or God. if they are taken likely, they will deter us

  61. from, from pursuing the Holiness that we are called to, in 1

    1 Peter 1:16

  62. Peter 1:16 Leviticus 11, Hebrews 12:14, they will deter us from

    Hebrews 12:14

  63. the Perfection that we are called to Matthew 5:48

    Matthew 5:48

  64. Temptations, taken lightly, and carelessly will deter us from

  65. the sanctification that we are called to, This alone is 4:3.

    Isaiah 4:3

  66. So if you're asking, why am I being tempted, why did God not

  67. take away Temptation? That is having desires to do

  68. something? Specially something wrong or

  69. unwise and especially something that is displeasing to God.

  70. Disobeying and disrespecting god.

  71. Well, first and foremost, we need to know off the bat that

  72. Temptations come from the tempter who is Satan.

  73. As we read in, Matthew chapter 4 forces, verses 1 to 11 when

    Matthew 4 chapter mention

  74. Christ was baptized, he was immediately taken by the spirit,

  75. the Holy Spirit to the Wilderness to be tempted, he

  76. fasted 40 days and 40 nights and he hungered and that's when the

  77. tempter Approached and appeared to tempt Jesus as men.

  78. So we can say Temptation, Temptations are warning signs to

  79. our weaknesses. You see Satan dared to tempt

  80. Jesus because he saw the second Adam, he destroyed the first

  81. Adam, and thought he can do the same with the last atom or the

  82. second atom, but it was vice versa.

  83. Jesus destroyed him because Jesus had no sin was not weak.

  84. He had a perfect Human Nature. So as I said, Temptations are

  85. warnings warning signs of our weakness and our inappropriate

  86. and somewhat evil desires. It is a weak spot that the Satan

  87. that and his enemy or his demons continuously Target.

  88. We read this in James chapter 1 verses 13 to 14.

    James 1:13–14

  89. A man shall not say when he is tempted.

  90. I am tempted by God for God, is Not acquainted with evil, and he

  91. does not tempt a man, but listen to this, listen to this very

  92. carefully. When you ask the question and

  93. you point the finger to God, those three fingers are pointing

  94. to our miserable state. But each man or each person is

  95. tempted from his Own desires and he lusts, and he is seduced.

  96. So in Genesis 3:5 Eve may have had the desire of pride.

    Genesis 3:5

  97. When she heard that, she too would be like, God by eating

  98. from The Forbidden tree and knowing good and evil.

  99. It may have attracted her pride and and you know, glamour may be

  100. attracted to that. I will be like a god.

  101. So that was her weakness. And the enemy Satan, the

  102. tempter, the serpent attacked that Target and unfortunately

  103. was successful. Saint, John, chrysostom rights

  104. on the reasons. God does not prevent Temptations

  105. from coming and there are five points.

  106. Very important. I'd like to share with you.

  107. Number one, Saint John chrysostom writes.

  108. Why? God allows you and I to be

  109. tempted. So if you're asking the question

  110. I think we had a question about Temptation.

  111. I'm not sure what exactly was. But if you're asking, why am I

  112. being tempted, right? At this moment.

  113. Or at this point of your life you're going through some, some

  114. extreme Temptations and difficulties.

  115. And you're asking why Wilson John chrysostom is one of the

  116. church fathers rights to teach you that you are now much

  117. stronger. You are now much stronger in

  118. faith. You are much stronger in trust

  119. in God and obedience to God, to teach you that you have the

  120. power of the Holy Spirit to put it in practice.

  121. As John the Evangelist writes in his first epistle chapter 4

  122. verse 4 he who is in you the holy spirit is stronger than he

  123. who is in the World to teach you.

  124. That you are so strong. You are so connected to God.

  125. You are so focusing to God that the enemy wants to devour that

  126. the enemy wants to try his best and utmost best shooting his

  127. most flaming arrows at you. To deter you from that

  128. relationship with God. If that sounds scary.

  129. Well, don't be, don't fret. God knows your limits.

  130. Saint Paul writes in these first epistle to the Corinthians

  131. 10:13, no temptation. Temptation has come upon you,

  132. except that of the children of men.

  133. Every person, but God is faithful, who shall not allow

  134. you to be tempted, more than whatever you are able, but shall

  135. make an exit for your Temptation, so that you can

  136. endure. So off the bat again, why am I

  137. being tempted? Will take problem.

  138. I should say, take pride, but be encouraged.

  139. God is allowing you to be tempted because he knows your

  140. strengths. He knows that you can overcome

  141. through his son, our Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit by the

  142. grace and the power of God. You know, sometimes you you hear

  143. parents saying when a child is struggling.

  144. I know you can do it. I know you can do it and I

  145. remember when I when my dad God, Rest his soul, along with all

  146. the Departed in Christ, was teaching me how to swim.

  147. So, take me to the deep end of faithful, pools for full bars.

  148. They are those who are listening back in the old days there.

  149. He would take me to the deep end and then he would have me in his

  150. arms and will tell me, and would, you know, tell me to

  151. start start swimming with my breast breast stroke.

  152. So, I think they are these brush Strokes yet.

  153. They are thing. And then he would see a friend

  154. and will let me go and say hello to his friend.

  155. And I'd go down, and but he didn't Fred.

  156. He would he would lift me up. So, no, no, you gotta In you.

  157. It's okay. You can do it.

  158. For me it's like what is he doing?

  159. Why is he so careless? I can drown he but for my father

  160. it was no this is how you're going to learn and sure enough.

  161. I remember my greatest Triumph was 50 laps of the the the

  162. Olympic full-size Olympic pool. Sorry. 20, laps of the full-size

  163. Olympic pools. I swam So God allows you to be

  164. tempted to show you that you are strong and how encouraging is

  165. that when you overcome that Temptation through Jesus Christ,

  166. praise and glory to his name. Secondly, Saint John.

  167. Chrysostom goes on to say that God allows Temptation that you

  168. may remain humble and not be puffed up by the greatness of

  169. your gift since the Temptations have power to limit.

  170. You You know, end in my, in my ministerial, life, my priesthood

  171. alive. I've seen people come to Christ.

  172. I've seen people be so committed to Christ and to appoint Pride,

  173. kicks in, and they think that they can take on the world and

  174. they dare to Take On The World and, you know, take their focus

  175. of Jesus Christ and try to go into the world to take on the

  176. evil of the world. They come back, second best

  177. beaten battered Bash. But they come back as the

  178. prodigal son. So, the key is coming back.

  179. So, don't you when you go through, Temptations, God is

  180. teaching, you don't think so. Highly of yourself that you can

  181. take Temptations. You know, lightly as I said,

  182. take him, seriously. But know that these are your,

  183. you know, the or strengthening pot strengthening point.

  184. And humble yourself before the gracious mercies of the Lord.

  185. In 1, Peter 5:8, that is the first first Epistle of st.

  186. St. Peter 5:8 Simon, The Rock goes

  187. on to say, be alert, be reflective because your enemy

  188. Satan Roars like a lion and he's walking and seeking whom he may

  189. devour. Don't take Satan lightly.

  190. Yes, Satan's X is limited. For a period of time, when the

  191. Lord returns, he will be cast out in the Eternal fire and

  192. whole, all he's demons all his angels, but at this moment,

  193. Satan is allowed to roam the world.

  194. Now you may say well, that that's not fair.

  195. So God is allowance allowing Satan to roam the world and he

  196. expects you and I to overcome. Yes, we have the power.

  197. That is why God is allowing Satan to roam the world because

  198. you have been equipped You have the armor to defeat each time.

  199. He attacks. And thirdly Saint, John.

  200. Chrysostom writes that God allows us to be tempted.

  201. These are the benefits of Temptations, you know, in order

  202. that, that Wicked demon who remains for a while, doubtful

  203. about your abandonment of him when you flee from him, when you

  204. focus totally on God, that he may be well assured by the

  205. standard of Temptation that you have utterly Forsaken and fallen

  206. from him. It's a lesson for Satan.

  207. He allows us to be tempted just like the righteous job to teach

  208. Satan a lesson. Hey, you may harm physically,

  209. you may cause physical death, a temporal death, a temporal

  210. Infliction. But you cannot affect the soul

  211. because the soul is totally rejecting you.

  212. And the soul is totally submissive to God.

  213. So Temptations. This is a, this is a very

  214. encouraging point for me. When I read this, that when I'm

  215. being tempted, God is using me. My trust in him.

  216. My faith in him, my perseverance in him.

  217. My total obedience to him to teach Satan a listen.

  218. Oh wow. Come on, guys, you know, you

  219. feel like going out and saying, come on Satan, bring it on, but

  220. no, you don't do that. It's not according to your

  221. knowledge and understanding its according to God's perfect will

  222. and perfect ways. You know, Jesus said to Satan,

  223. when he tried to tempt him with Glamour and that he would

  224. worship Him. He said, basically, let me use

  225. it in this time. Get lost, get out of here.

  226. We see get out of here. Get lost.

  227. Depart from me away. from you and if lead, we too So that he

  228. will see our submission to God and will flee when we continue

  229. to focus on God, when we continue to reject, not give him

  230. the time of the day. But constantly focusing on God's

  231. promise that he has a perfect reason why he's allowed you.

  232. And I to be in that situation. James, 4:7 instructs, that we

  233. must submit therefore to God and stand, East Satan, not go.

  234. What is it? What do I say?

  235. When they chest-to-chest in this area?

  236. They say there, but not go up against eating with your, you

  237. know, ready to spar with him? No, totally stand against flee

  238. from him and he will flee from you.

  239. And fourthly God allows us to be tempted and does not prevent

  240. Temptations to come. Is that you?

  241. And I met in this way, be made stronger and better toughened

  242. than any Stills, and John chrysostom rights.

  243. This is the life of the Holy Saints.

  244. Beloved, yes, we are all Saints. Yes, Amen.

  245. To that we have been Sanctified and we are Saints by virtue of

  246. our baptism. We have received the Holy Spirit

  247. and we have been set apart as being Saints to God, but there

  248. are those Saints. Our holy saints, that reached a

  249. level of sanctification, where they claim that that we must

  250. imitate them say Paul was one of those to imitate them him

  251. because he amend imitated Jesus Christ.

  252. This is the level of sainthood, that the Saints reached st.

  253. George, I reading his biography, he was thrown into a room, I

  254. think I've mentioned it, but if not, you know, if you've heard

  255. this great, it's a reminder or refresher.

  256. If not, here, it is st. George the illustrious martyr

  257. martyr, we call and make his prayers be a blessing to.

  258. All of us was thrown in a room with a prostitute.

  259. Shoot. And she was ready to offer his

  260. Services services, but he got on his knees and he started praying

  261. for hours, praying for hours. And that's what he was a

  262. because, you know, there's there was the Temptation God, put him

  263. in that situation. But there was perfect reason why

  264. the prostitute asks and George. What are you doing?

  265. Who youth praying for? How are you praying to?

  266. He said my God, the one God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel.

  267. And to my Lord Jesus Christ. And His holy spirit, she had one

  268. son and she It her son to him said she actually says, I have

  269. one son, I want to submit him, I want to hand him over to you,

  270. that you may take care of him. You see how God works in our

  271. Temptations, the benefits. But the key is that he got on

  272. his knees and he started praying, didn't take on The

  273. Prostitute to try to reach out to her and preach to her and

  274. Bible Basher. Some say, no.

  275. He consulted his Lord because he knew that the the enemy the the

  276. demons that were trying to bring him down, were fearfully trying

  277. to do that, but he overcame through prayer to the Lord.

  278. And lastly God allows temptations that you.

  279. And I may obtain a clear demonstration of the treasures

  280. entrusted to us for the devil listen to this.

  281. For the devil would not have attacked you unless he had seen

  282. that you had been brought to Greater honor.

  283. When the devil sees people that are in sin, that have been so

  284. destroyed by sin that have so fallen for Temptation that are

  285. enjoying their sins that are trying to impose their evil ways

  286. on the children of God. He lets them be because that's

  287. where he wants them to be. But when he sees that the great

  288. honor, the children of God have got have received and are

  289. preserving a nurturing and holding in great esteem.

  290. That's when he demonstrates he's attacked and that's where that's

  291. where he tries to come to us. But when we uphold and we honor

  292. those great, great honor that God has given us.

  293. We are during Temptations demonstrating to him that we

  294. have been entrusted with this and what is the greatest honor?

  295. Let me ask you a question. What do you think the greatest

  296. honour of a Christian is Salvation, that's Yet.

  297. To Come. The day of salvation is

  298. returning to living Christ. Amen, to that to living Christ,

  299. but before that What are we called, beloved?

  300. I mentioned it a few times. The children are the sons of God

  301. John 1:12, but those that received him, that is Jesus

    John 1:12

  302. Christ to them. God gave authority to become the

  303. sons of God. Even to them that believe on his

  304. name. Being called the children of God

  305. not just a creation of God, not just a creature of God beloved

  306. being called a children of God. And Al Saint Paul States.

  307. This in Galatians chapter 3 verses 26 to 27 you are all

    Galatians 3:26–27

  308. children of God through faith in Jesus Christ for as many of you

  309. as were baptized have been clothed with Christ vesture.

  310. We have been clothed with Christ.

  311. There's there's a there's a gift of holy baptism being vested

  312. with Christ. Matthew 5:9 peacemakers

    Matthew 5:9

  313. peacemakers will be called the children of God.

  314. So what is Satan tried to do? He will try to devour your love,

  315. your desire, your will your tempt attempt to make peace so

  316. that he can take away that precious honor the title of

  317. being the child of God? So let's not be reactive to

  318. Temptations beloved, let's not quickly ask God, why am I being

  319. tempted? Oh Lord, take away this

  320. temptation for me. No.

  321. But rather, let's be proactive in Temptations to use them to

  322. glorify our living God. When we are tempted, we ask God

  323. to strengthen us and Jesus taught us do not lead us into

  324. temptation, not do not tempt. Us, many people ask, why are we

  325. praying that? God doesn't lead us into

  326. temptation? God, doesn't tempt.

  327. There's a difference between. Do not tempt, me or do.

  328. Lead me into temptation. Lord.

  329. We are admitting admitting that we are so and this is coming

  330. from the mouth of Our Lord. We are so weak, we are so

  331. vulnerable that we ask you that, you don't lead us into

  332. temptation. However, Lord, if you do if it

  333. appeases you, if it's your will that I am permitted to enter

  334. into temptation, but deliver me from the evil one so that I can

  335. overcome through Jesus Christ. Praise glory.

  336. Honor, Thanksgiving P2 His holy name now in at all times and

  337. forever and ever. Amen.
