  1. In the name of the Glorious Trinity.

  2. Father and Son and Holy Spirit forever.

  3. Amen. Glory be to the Everlasting

  4. mercies which sent you to us. Oh, Christ the light of the

  5. world and the life of all give us wisdom by a law and Enlighten

  6. our impulses, by your knowledge, sanctify, ourselves by your

  7. truth, and Grant that we may be obedient to your words and may

  8. fulfill your Commandments at every hour.

  9. Oh, you who enlightens the rationale with the knowledge of

  10. your greatness do in light or my Lord are thoughts that we made?

  11. Meditate upon your holy and divine scriptures at all times

  12. O, Lord of all Father and Son and Holy Spirit forever.

  13. Double-edged sword, a Christian podcast Ministry presented by

  14. father, jernard Lazar. Father, jernard is a parish

  15. priest of the mud edit Parish of the Assyrian Church of the East

  16. and Turlock California. Here's father.

  17. Jonard one of the many difficult attributes or characteristics in

  18. our Christian lives. Life.

  19. In general is being content, being satisfied, being content

  20. with what we have or what we have, not being content with

  21. what we receive or miss out on being content in any lives,

  22. cruel disheartening, disappointing displeasing.

  23. And all the disses circumstances that life throws in us or at us.

  24. You see Christmas is around the corner, right?

  25. And we're preparing our gifts, we're buying gifts for others.

  26. We've already started wrapping them and we're anticipating to

  27. receive a gift from others. But remember the idea of, it's

  28. the thoughts that count. That's slowly diminishing.

  29. Now, we ask, what would you like me to buy you for Christmas?

  30. And it's not about the gift giving or the present purchasing

  31. it's about celebrating the birth of Christ.

  32. But even then, There has to be contentment of what iris I need

  33. to be pleased. I need to, I need to need what I

  34. receive. I need to be satisfied with what

  35. I receive or what I give away. So as difficult as not existing

  36. as it sounds or as contentment sounds, it is actually counted

  37. as a great gain. It is a great Victory, a great

  38. success along with godliness. According to what st.

  39. Paul writes to Timothy in his first epistle.

  40. Chapter 6, verses 6 to 10. We're going to break it down.

  41. It begins by saying, but godliness that beat, that means

  42. being god-like being christ-like being complete.

  43. As our father, in Heaven is complete.

  44. So godliness actually is a means of great gain success when

  45. accompanied by contentment. We could love the Lord, pray to

  46. the Lord and ask that he's will be done in our lives.

  47. That he's will always supersede our will.

  48. And when he does, we're not content, We complain.

  49. So, why is it a game to be godliness accompanied by

  50. contentment? Why must I be content when I

  51. don't have or can't have what my neighbor has?

  52. Why must I be content with my five figures salary?

  53. When my friend, my cousin, my relative, my sister, my brother

  54. is Basking in his or her six-figure salary.

  55. Or better still, how is it that those who are in some of the

  56. most undesirable situations in life?

  57. Genuinely joyfully, I will add our content with their life I

  58. can never forget a video that I watched on on.

  59. I think it was Facebook. It was a video of a father who

  60. would ride his bicycle to a restaurant and this is in the

  61. evening just before the restaurant will close and he

  62. would ride his bicycle to the restaurant.

  63. Now the restauranteur would save the food that was left on the

  64. plates of The customers. For example, if there was a

  65. third of a chicken left on the plate not in the kitchen, or

  66. there was some rice and some baked potato, that wasn't

  67. touched, he would leave them and place them in a plastic bag and

  68. hold them, reserve them for the father who would ride his bike

  69. to the restaurant, the father would collect the food in a bag.

  70. This is leftovers beloved and he would ride back home with his

  71. children. I'm being Overjoyed because they

  72. received food. They're going to eat dinner but

  73. you know that that didn't touch my heart.

  74. What touched my heart? What rebuked me and admonished

  75. me was this that before they began to eat as one of the

  76. children. Stretch the hand to eat.

  77. The father said, no signaling. Wait, we need to pray praying

  78. for leftovers being content. Praising God.

  79. That today, we are able Eating, even though they are leftovers.

  80. So how is it? Beloved, How can one be so

  81. content? Well, firstly, because those who

  82. are content with the most undesirable situations in life,

  83. they know they have accepted believed and they live by the

  84. fact that God will always provide. they have understood

  85. and this is where we missed the mark, beloved, they have

  86. understood the nature and the Splendor, and the power, and the

  87. might, and the capability, the omnipotence, the honestly, the

  88. faithfulness of God, they have read the scriptures and not only

  89. ready to use them to correct people, which is one of the use

  90. of the scriptures, but to understand and to live to apply

  91. in life. They have understood what Jesus

  92. assured in Matthew 10:29, and this is what they live by.

    Matthew 10:29

  93. Jesus says are not Two Sparrows, sold for a Cent and yet not one

  94. of them will fall to the ground apart from your father, or your

  95. father's knowledge, but the very hairs of your head.

  96. You who are listening, stop the vacuuming stop the washing of

  97. the dishes. Pull over to one side, listen to

  98. this. You whoever you may be wherever

  99. you may be Who love the Lord listen to what Jesus is telling

  100. you and I both but the very hairs of your head are numbered

  101. showing the, the precise knowledge and forethought of God

  102. for you. And I but the very hairs of your

  103. head are all numbered. So do not feed.

  104. You are most valuable than many sparrows, you know, it in

  105. Matthew 6. Jesus goes on to say, look at

  106. the birds of the sky. Thanks.

  107. I don't toil, they don't have to apply for positions.

  108. They don't have to invest money in stocks and what is it?

  109. Dodge come, they don't have to wait for Elon Musk musk to see

  110. what's gonna come out of his mouth and everyone pours money

  111. into that specific stock. No, they don't do that.

  112. But the Father in Heaven provides for them.

  113. How much are you more worth than the birds?

  114. You know, animals don't have a soul.

  115. We have a body, a soul and we have the spirit, the Holy

  116. Spirit, the animals don't have a soul.

  117. The animal's life is within their own blood.

  118. So when they die, we say we use the words to get Lee.

  119. That means they have gone finished.

  120. There's no and I'm sorry, I'm going to rain on a few people's

  121. bread. There's no animal and doggy

  122. heaven, and doggy and catty Heaven.

  123. It's not in the Bible, it's on the scriptures.

  124. Not in the writings of the church fathers.

  125. But yet, let me tell you, two more videos that I've seen one

  126. very recently. And you can Google this Google

  127. fish spitting, water out of out of a lake to get to the, I think

  128. it's a grasshopper. So the fish is in the water,

  129. just on the surface floating on the surface, and the fish's eye

  130. is caught on a grasshopper. There is on a branch.

  131. The fish spits out water to hit the branch, knowing where the

  132. grasshopper is going to land immediately swims towards that

  133. and eat. And that day that fish will live

  134. because that fish has had food. Another mind-blowing with video,

  135. I saw last week, it was on Facebook and we were trying to

  136. find it Stephen and I bird was plucking twigs and where was it?

  137. The Birds storing The Twig so that it could fly away and build

  138. a nest in. I'm not sure if those in her

  139. feathers, I mean Stephen made a good point in the house, the

  140. bird going to fly, but you guys maybe have seen it.

  141. I mean, if you have The snow somewhere.

  142. It's storing it in her in her what we call the her coat or her

  143. wings. And and you know, it was it was

  144. amazing because I thought how does help who taught this bird,

  145. how to store twigs and transport them to the branch to to start

  146. knitting, her nest. God provides beloved.

  147. And if the God Is providing as Jesus says, for the birds and

  148. the trees, and the plantation, he is at in in in the Book of

  149. Job job. God says, to job, where were

  150. you? When Joe was complaining?

  151. I think was about 28 verses or 32 versus job is complaining.

  152. God says, listen, where were you?

  153. Where were you? When I made the reins to pour in

  154. the wilderness so that the plantation would grow so that

  155. the animals would live? From that Plantation.

  156. That is why the people you know, those who are content in any

  157. disease or undesirable situations have understood the

  158. true meaning and the truth behind the word of God that says

  159. that I will never leave you, I will provide for you and also,

  160. secondly, Paul continues in verse 7, he continues to say

  161. that for we have brought nothing into the world.

  162. So we cannot take anything out of it either.

  163. So, what we have, I should be content with Jesus taught us to

  164. pray to the Lord, to the father, and ask for our daily bread.

  165. Not weekly bread, monthly bread or decade bread, daily bread.

  166. I ate today, I weigh close today.

  167. I am working today, I will be paid for today.

  168. My bills will be paid my fee. My table will be, will be full.

  169. My children will eat, Praise You, Lord God, one day, this is

  170. all going to end as well, but what I have, I thank you.

  171. I am content with the leftovers. I am content.

  172. My auntie God, Rest, her soul would say, Bruni as my son.

  173. You know, when we were young, we were poor.

  174. We were, you know, we weren't Rich, we didn't have the luxury

  175. of some other people had and, you know, we would gather and

  176. Pray and eat our food every day. Sometimes it could have been

  177. just dried bread, you know our fathers would would would end

  178. their abstinence which means fasting fasting Intel's

  179. abstaining. So when they would end their

  180. abstinence, they would end it through by eating dry bread,

  181. like my buuza and having a glass of water and yet they were still

  182. content. Look at what John chrysostom it

  183. writes amazing on these verses for there is no one free.

  184. Only one who lives for Christ. He stands Superior to all

  185. troubles, any undesirable circumstances.

  186. And if he does not choose to injure himself, no one else will

  187. be able to to do this. For he is impregnable.

  188. That means he is secure. He is not stung by the loss of

  189. wealth for he has learned that we brought nothing to the into

  190. this world. And neither, can we carry

  191. anything out? He continues.

  192. He is not caught by the longings of ambition Or Glory for.

  193. He has learned that our citizenship is in heaven.

  194. Philippians 3:20, no one. Annoys him by abuse or provokes

    Philippians 3:20

  195. him by blows. There is only one Calamity one

  196. disaster for a Christian. What is this?

  197. What do you think hunger? Illness.

  198. Being poor being limited know. There is only one Calamity

  199. disaster for a Christian Disobedience to God writes.

  200. Saint John chrysostom and he continues all the other things

  201. such as loss of property, Exile, Peril that is danger in the

  202. risks of life. No one, sorry, one does not even

  203. reckon to be a grievance at all one, who is content and that.

  204. Which all dread. Departure hands to the other

  205. world. That is death.

  206. This is to him sweeter than life itself.

  207. This is the person who is content with what he or she has

  208. or has not saying Paul continues to Timothy first letter to

  209. Timothy chapter 6, verse 8 if we have food and covering with

  210. these, we shall be content. Look at The Bear Necessities.

  211. The simple bare nostromo's, Jungle Book, right?

  212. I think it was Jungle Book. It was that, that, that bear,

  213. that was scratching his back on the bamboo stick, I used to

  214. watch it. I like that.

  215. Haven't watched it for a long time, you know, my going, watch

  216. it today. That is yesterday.

  217. Look at the bare necessities, the simple Bare Necessities food

  218. and covering If we are content beloved with what we have, any

  219. covering any food and some John, chrysostom is going to write

  220. about this whole. I'll share it with you.

  221. When we are content st. Paul writes in Ephesians chapter

    Ephesians 3 chapter mention

  222. 3, God who can give us immeasurably things wouldn't

  223. even think of if you are content with the clothes on your back,

  224. God will provide. If it pleases him in a pieces

  225. him, if we are content with the food that we have, God will

  226. continue to provide immeasurably.

  227. Saint, John chrysostom comments on this but he's talking about a

  228. wife and her husband. Listen to what he writes for it

  229. is not by beautifying herself or by living a life of luxury or by

  230. demanding from her husband, money or being extravagant and

  231. lavish. That a good wife will be able to

  232. win him over. you know, we don't need to post some of those

  233. Amazing mind-boggling posts that are sisters are posting on

  234. Instagram and on tick-tocks and on Snapchat and Facebook.

  235. Why to be able to win over the heart and the attraction of a

  236. male or vice versa st. John chrysostom says no no no,

  237. it's not by this how when she removes herself from all present

  238. concerns and Rinse upon herself, the apostolic way of life.

  239. Meaning the true way of life, when she displays great,

  240. modesty, decorum disdain for money and forbearances.

  241. Then she will be able to capture him when she says, if we have

  242. food and clothing, we have all that we need.

  243. When she practices this philosophy in her actions and

  244. laughing at physical death calls, this This life nothing

  245. when she considers along with the profit.

  246. Every Glory of this life, to be as the flowers of the field,

  247. Isaiah 46, then she will capture him.

  248. Of wife will capture the love the satisfaction.

  249. The faithfulness of her husband, when she is content with what he

  250. can provide and vice versa, likewise the husband.

  251. Now, those who are not content and want more and more, there is

  252. a danger beloved when we are not content with the leftover Foods,

  253. we may be eating and we pray that the Lord will provide for

  254. everyone. Paul goes on to, in verse 9 and

  255. says, those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare

  256. and met many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge men into

  257. rumen and discussion this destruction.

  258. Now, I must say that st. Paul here by no means is

  259. discrediting or disapproving riches, but more.

  260. So, the desires, the intention and the foolishness I'm not

  261. Content. Why?

  262. Because she has, or he has, I must have, no, I'm content

  263. because I have what God has given me.

  264. I am content that I don't have. What my neighbor has enriches is

  265. not money alone. Prepare beloved not just

  266. property and assets, riches can be Comfort.

  267. We want to have comfort. We don't want to suffer in this

  268. world. Why you must we suffer in this

  269. world. I don't want In pain, I don't

  270. want sorrow, I don't want Agony, I don't want illness.

  271. Well, that's not being realistic.

  272. Beloved because the world is a corrupted, Fallen World, and can

  273. provide nothing but calamities. Riches are not money and

  274. property alone. Gladness being happy in Christ.

  275. I want to be more happy. I'm not happy if people come up

  276. to me and and you know I don't know what it is I'm just sad, I

  277. don't know what it is. Well be content if your content

  278. then you will not be sad because whatever circumstance you have

  279. and you praise the Lord Jesus Christ.

  280. And you know that he is with you until the end of the world and

  281. your content, you're satisfied. Well they won't be sadness.

  282. Knowing that one day we're going to leave this world knowing that

  283. this world st. Peter, right?

  284. That will melt all the elements will melt everything will be

  285. left behind and will melt. There is nothing that we're

  286. going to take with us and then maybe you will be glad and you

  287. will be happy. So st.

  288. Paul is writing about the desirable evil love for these

  289. which is a path to ruin and destruction.

  290. The love for being continuously joyous and happy and glad the

  291. only gladness we have Beloved, the only joy we have that cannot

  292. be taken away from us is through Jesus Christ and that Joy when

  293. you went, when we hear the word Joy, leaming always, you know,

  294. enjoying ourselves and laughing. Being and carry on?

  295. No, no, the joy in suffering as well, only through Jesus Christ.

  296. Why? Because he suffered for you.

  297. And I first and he died for you, and I and he overcame suffering,

  298. he overcame death and sin and we have Victory through him on this

  299. Earth or in the Kingdom of Heaven according to God's

  300. perfect plan for you. I Saint Paul writes and

  301. reiterates in Hebrews 13:5, let not your mind.

    Hebrews 13:5

  302. Love money, not only money power, Fame attraction, Let not

  303. your mind, love money. But let what you have satisfy

  304. you for the Lord himself has said I will never leave you nor

  305. slacken the hand towards you. So one of the most helpful

  306. beneficial way of putting God's will before the Earthly desire,

  307. which was one of the questions. How do we do this in this most

  308. trying and challenging world? How do we put God's will before

  309. the Earthly desire before the world is be content?

  310. Be content where you are in your faith, you believe in the Lord,

  311. Jesus Christ, praise and glory be to his name.

  312. You have been baptized in the father, in the name of the

  313. father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit, the baptism of

  314. Jesus Christ, praise the Lord Jesus Christ because you have

  315. been put to death with him, in your baptism.

  316. And you have been brought to life with him.

  317. You read your holy scriptures, you pray.

  318. You have a communication with your heavenly father through

  319. Jesus Christ. You attend church, you partake

  320. in the old sanctifying body and blood of our Lord.

  321. Jesus Christ. You fast.

  322. You perform your your good deed. Your charitable Deeds.

  323. Praise God. Maybe it is not for you to go

  324. and evangelize the world know some people want to and then

  325. they are not content because they are unable to that is not

  326. for you. Be content with the way you are

  327. in faith. Examine yourself test yourself

  328. If your conscience is not rebuking you, if your conscience

  329. is clear and your conscience is encouraging, you praise God and

  330. remain and wait for God to move, who can do immeasurably, who can

  331. call you to, to, to the callings.

  332. That are immeasurable. You never even thought of

  333. yesterday, we celebrated, the Angelic and uncie ation to the

  334. Blessed ever Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, the son

  335. of God, look at Mary's respond beloved. 14 years old told that

  336. she will be impregnated without a man.

  337. If you chuckle just now. Yeah, but she didn't chuckle.

  338. She was fearful. She was astonished.

  339. When she heard the sound of the voice of the Angel.

  340. But look at her. Listen to her reply, beloved

  341. Luke, 1:38. Behold!

  342. I am the handmaid of the Lord God.

  343. We are God's servants and handmaidens.

  344. We are his children, but just as servants, we are ready for God

  345. to use us. According to whatsoever, he

  346. pleases, even if our life will be in danger.

  347. And if you read Mary story, annually, read Luke chapter 1,

    Luke 1 chapter mention

  348. you know what I'm talking about. I am the handmaid of the Lord

  349. God let it be done to me according to your word.

  350. Obedience acceptance, willingness Readiness ready for

  351. God to work according to his will and being content.

  352. What a beautiful role model, the Blessed Virgin Mary.

  353. That didn't argue. The reason why she asked that,

  354. how could it be? Because there has been, no man.

  355. Is because in the history of the world, no woman has conceived

  356. without a man. Zechariah was punished because

  357. prior to Zechariah and being a priest, he should have known

  358. that they were Barren. An old woman sir, I who did give

  359. birth through God's power, but Mary was the first and the last

  360. to give birth to the Son of God. And yet she accepted it and she

  361. was content. So, as we approach the Advent of

  362. our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. if we don't have the ham

  363. on the table, beloved, if we don't receive any gifts and what

  364. little we can give let us first. Praise God for it.

  365. Praise God for his son, for the gift of his son, to the whole

  366. world. If I can't give Steven anything

  367. and saving his a little bit upset, don't wait for a gift, by

  368. the wasting. If I can't give Stephen a gift

  369. and he's upset and maybe, you know, he's got the courage to

  370. come and say a hobby, you know, I mean, he didn't even buy me

  371. anything I'd say, hey, Steven God the father has given you the

  372. greatest gift ever, which is he son l?

  373. Jesus Christ, so be content. The gift, I give you will perish

  374. the gift. I give you will be superseded by

  375. version 10.10 point 10.10 point. Turn, what I find here, we are

  376. up to now, 14. Well, let me tell you probably

  377. 20 is in the line now to, right? So things are changing, the

  378. iPhone 10. Now, is one of those thing would

  379. say he, bro, there's iPhone 14. Now, so what we give one another

  380. is, Limited but what God has given us regardless of what

  381. shape what amount, what quantity, what quality which is

  382. always perfect. Let's be content and I pray that

  383. the willing and the spirit of contentment is bestowed upon

  384. each and every one of us so that we can possess it first and

  385. foremost and only for the glory of our Heavenly King.

  386. Jesus Christ. Praise and glory be to His holy

  387. name now and at all times and forever.

  388. One last thing. Please also don't forget to rate
