  13. and Holy Spirit forever. Amen.

  14. Double-edged sword, a Christian podcast Ministry presented by

  15. father, jernard Lazar. Father, jernard is a parish

  16. priest of the mud edit Parish of the Assyrian Church of the East

  17. and Turlock. California.

  18. Here's father jernard before the beginning of the presbyters

  19. meeting with with the bishop or that he's the priest meeting.

  20. With the Bishops, I write a part of Psalm chapter of hundreds and

  21. hundred and forty-one verse 3. O our Lord.

  22. God said a guard at my mouth and a guard for my lips.

  23. But it goes on to say that my heart would not turn aside to an

  24. evil word or do evil. Works with wicked men.

  25. I shall not eat salt with them. That's the one way I can tame

  26. and control my tongue. In Saint James chapter 3 verses

    James 3:1–10

  27. 1 to 10. We read about the threat of an

  28. uncontrolled tongue. Let me read it and share it with

  29. you. My brethren do not allow

  30. doubtful teach teachers among you, but know that we are under

  31. a great judgment for in many ways.

  32. We are stumbled Or in many things we all stumble anyone who

  33. does not offending word. This one is a perfect man and

  34. able also to subdue his whole body behold.

  35. We put bits into the mouths of horses that they may obey us and

  36. we turn about their whole body, that means we steer them.

  37. Basically, we control them behold.

  38. Also, the ship's great as they are, when driven by severe

  39. winds, they are I turned about with a very small Rudder

  40. wherever the captain or the pilot wishes even so the tongue

  41. is a little member and boasts great things.

  42. Likewise a small fire sets, Ablaze the large forests.

  43. The tongue is a fire and the sinful world like a forest that

  44. very tongue while it is among our members can defile.

  45. Whole body and set on fire, the records of our race, which have

  46. rolled down from the beginning. And in the end, it is consumed

  47. by fire. That is the tongue for James.

  48. Chapter 3 verse 77, very alarming for every kind of

  49. beasts and of birds and of creatures of the sea and of the

  50. land are under the subjugation of the will of men, but the

  51. tongue, no man can take. Chain.

  52. It is an unruly evil full of deadly poison verse 9.

  53. But Buy it. We bless the Lord and the

  54. father, and by it, we curse men who are made in the image of God

  55. out of the same mouth, precedes curses and blessings my

  56. brethren. These things, ought not so to be

  57. Very alarming, a st. James is putting it not very

  58. optimistic about the tongue and you know, as we emphasized verse

  59. 7 that everything can be tamed and be controlled of the tongue

  60. but not men, no man can tame the tongue.

  61. So what do we do? We just let it rip with the

  62. tongue. There it is.

  63. There's our justification. The Bible is saying that, you

  64. know what, you have no control. So, do as you please with your

  65. tongue? Well, no, that's not actually

  66. what the Bible is telling us. In Matthew chapter 18.

    Matthew 18 chapter mention

  67. When Jesus says, if your hand, or your leg, or your eyes, cause

  68. you to sin, gouge it out, or cut it off, and I will dare to

  69. continue and say the tongue should be also listed if your

  70. tongue is causing you to sin metaphorically, I'm speaking

  71. metaphorically, not physically cut the tongue out as well,

  72. because that's what Jesus says about the leg and the arm ended

  73. in the eyes. Very alarming.

  74. But there are verses, there are hopeful and definitely hopeful

  75. And in verses 5 and 6, obviously, the uncontrolled

  76. tongue is more dangerous than a raging forest fire or heavy

  77. floods. You know, once the tongue pukes

  78. out, its foolishness vulgarity, its bitterness.

  79. It cannot be controlled as far as the damage it will cause, you

  80. know, once you post something on social media and everyone has

  81. seen it, you can delete. But the Each the message is out

  82. there, people have seen it, you cannot control the damage and

  83. the message. All you do is, as I say, delete

  84. the post, once the word has come out of our mouth, it will work,

  85. you know, God praise His name. The father says, in the Old

  86. Testament, every word that comes out of my mouth will fulfill the

  87. intention that it had that I have every word that comes out

  88. of our mouths will work. You cannot stop.

  89. The effect and the Damage that it causes or the goodness

  90. sometimes that it does. But there is a hint given by a

  91. saint. Same James and this is the hint

  92. that one of the ways we can control, we can use the tongue

  93. for good rather than for evil. Is to be swift to hear and slow

  94. to speak. James 1:19, we spoke about this

    James 1:19

  95. last episode. Be swift to listen, be quick to

  96. listen and be slow to speak. A verbal reactions should lack

  97. thoughtlessness. A verbal reactions should lack

  98. self selfishness, especially when we are angry.

  99. Be slow to speak in Anger, you make a lot of mistakes.

  100. You know, when a person commits a crime, the justification

  101. sometimes is I was out of my mind, I didn't know what I was

  102. doing. I was drunk.

  103. I was under medication. I was psychologically not fully

  104. comprehensive or what's going on around me.

  105. So, you know, justifications of murder murder is murder, right.

  106. When you're angry and we sometimes, Sometimes I know I

  107. said it in my anger but that does not make it right, we love

  108. it. If we say things in anger and it

  109. causes damage and hurt. Well, we must be very careful

  110. how and what we say when we are angry when we are angry, when we

  111. are fuming. The best thing to do is to pray.

  112. Lord, God said a guard at my mouth and a God for my lips.

  113. When we are angry and we are quick to listen and slow to

  114. speak. We should choose our words.

  115. Carefully to be fitting for that occasion.

  116. So that's one way you can continue to use your tongue and

  117. maybe, as I said, taming it the scriptures saying is it's very

  118. hard but you can use it for good rather than for evil.

  119. You see, we need to tame our thoughts.

  120. We need to tame our thoughts. Our mind in order to tame our

  121. tongue so that we can speak the quality words that are improve

  122. of 1624, a honeycomb of honey sweet to the soul and a healing

  123. to the bones. That's how our words should be.

  124. That is the effect the outcome of our words.

  125. So, if we do, if our thoughts are bitter as vinegar, then what

  126. happens with our words, they will reflect what is in our

  127. thoughts, and even in our hearts, Saint James writes in

  128. verses 11 and 14. That salt water cannot flow out

  129. of the same spring fresh water. And salt water cannot flow out

  130. of the same spring verse 11 and a fig tree cannot bear, olives

  131. verse 14. So when we want to speak when we

  132. want to use this tongue we must be aware of the source of our

  133. speech. What is it going to be is It

  134. going to be bitter. Or is it going to be sweet?

  135. Is it, as we spoke last episode? Is it going to be soothing or

  136. aggravating here? This is how we can control and

  137. have control under use of our tongue.

  138. We must also examine our hearts, the center of all of our speech.

  139. Proverb 16:23. Writes the heart of the wise,

  140. teachers his mouth and adds learning to his lips, our Lord

  141. States in Luke 6:46. I believe that for the abundance

    Luke 6:46

  142. of the heart, out of the Overflow of the heart, the mouth

  143. speaks, which suggests that there is a direct connection

  144. between the mouth and the heart and consequently Whoever would

  145. redeem his speech must first amend his heart.

  146. If we want our speech to be soothing to be as sweet as honey

  147. comb, our hearts must be soothed and be a sweet as honey comb.

  148. And we should know beloved one very important thing that God

  149. knows. God sees and God hears

  150. everything. Psalm 24:1 the Earth is the

    Psalms 24:1

  151. Lord's and its fullness. God is everywhere.

  152. God knows everything. God is within you. 1 Corinthians

    1 Corinthians 6:19

  153. 6:19 and you are the Temple of the Holy Spirit.

  154. God the Holy Spirit Psalm 139 verse seven and eight.

  155. Where shall I go from your spirit?

  156. Where shall I hide from before? You, if I shall Ascend to

  157. Heaven, there you are. And if I were descent to show

  158. you are there also a most 93 and I love this verse.

  159. And if they will hide at the top of Carmela from there, I shall

  160. search and I shall take them. And if they will hide from,

  161. before my eyes in the depth of the sea there, I shall command

  162. The Serpent and it shall bite them.

  163. We cannot Escape. The presence of God.

  164. This is one of the greatest Keys is one of the greatest tools of

  165. taming or controlling our tongue to know that each time, we say

  166. something beloved, it is in the presence of the Lord, because

  167. God is there. God is within you to God, the

  168. holy spirit is within us. So, when I am cussing, I'm

  169. cussing before the Lord. What do you walk into a church

  170. and cuss, you know, it amazes me how I've known of people of, or

  171. I've been made aware of people who have filthy mouths.

  172. As they say, every second word is either either the f bomb or

  173. the Assyrian words, right? It amazes me how when that

  174. person is before me conversing with me a servant of God that

  175. person will refrain from using that word.

  176. Why? Because I'm in the presence of

  177. Akasha. All when that person is in

  178. church and they are conversing with you.

  179. Even with friends, they have full control of what they're

  180. saying. Right?

  181. But then again beloved they forget that they are constantly

  182. in the presence of God and in particular God the Holy Spirit

  183. which is within us, you know I remember many many. many, many,

  184. many moons ago probably wasn't born then but many, many years

  185. ago that when there was a lady present The men would refrain

  186. from using vulgar language today.

  187. The ladies, let it rip, as they say, the ladies that have no

  188. respect for themselves, I'm sorry to say.

  189. But this is what I will break it down to will continue to use the

  190. mouth for evil, not only cussing, gossip hatred slander,

  191. But remember, each time we do that, we are doing it in the

  192. presence of God. Jesus says in Matthew chapter

    Matthew 12:37

  193. 12, verse 37. Here is another deterrent for by

  194. your words, you will be justified.

  195. Hey, justification by words, do not only by faith for by your

  196. words. You will be justified and by

  197. your words you will be condemned.

  198. Meaning judged too. Eternal.

  199. Condemnation, pain, Agony suffering by Your Word.

  200. If this is not deterring us. Well, I don't see how we're

  201. going to overcome the timing of the tongue.

  202. Matthew 12:36 for, I say to you. Jesus says that Every Idle Word

    Matthew 12:36

  203. that people will speak, they will give an answer for it on

  204. the day of judgment. So we will be judged.

  205. Act according to every word that comes out of our mouth.

  206. Well Every Idle every useless, every evil word that comes out

  207. of our mouths, we will be judged.

  208. So again, beloved one of many ways in the most significant way

  209. of having control of your tongue is to keep in mind that God.

  210. Is with us. Everywhere we go.

  211. And the result is that our speech becomes worthy of being

  212. in the almighty's present. And again, pray, if this is your

  213. weakness, I'll go one step further to say if this is your

  214. demon. AKA addiction.

  215. If this is your demon, this is your weakness.

  216. Pray constantly. Oh Lord God said a guard at my

  217. mouth prayed with me. Now.

  218. Stop your vacuuming, stop your dishwashing, pull over to one

  219. side, stop typing on the on the on the keyboard stop watching,

  220. you know, looking at social media while you're listening,

  221. you know, multitasking don't do that.

  222. Stop just pray with me now. Oh Lord God, Sarah guard at my

  223. mouth and a God for my lips. That my heart would not turn

  224. aside to an evil word or do evil.

  225. Works with wicked men. I shall not eat salt with them.

  226. Praise and glory be to God the Father and Son and Holy Spirit.

  227. One last thing. Please also don't forget to rate
