Do you know the Bible is God's Holy Word? Do
-
you know it is inspired, in errant, and infallible? If so, like, share,
-
subscribe and support this podcast. So we are Mere Nathal
-
Ministries and now Redemption Draweth Nighe. Welcome, ladies and gentlemen,
-
welcome to the program. We are your host, Jose and Matthew.
-
Once again tonight we are passing it over to Jose
-
as well. He's had things laid on his heart, so
-
we're going to continue with the venue that we did
-
the last time. So Jose, but Mikey is yours.
-
Thank you. Matthew.
-
We're still going over Luke ta Keen and the parable
-
of the Prodigal Son, and it's been called throughout church history,
-
and again this is a lot of what's been on
-
my heart, especially on my my wife's heart as well.
-
Family members that were raising the church.
-
But have fallen away, and you know, and she's looking
-
at what they're going through and she's trying to help them.
-
You know, she's she's wondering what she can do to
-
bring them closer to God. Because Matthew, we know, no
-
matter what's going on, no matter what our issues are,
-
as long as we have that, that faith in God,
-
that relationship with God. As long as we know his son,
-
we know what he has planned for us, Matthew, it
-
doesn't really matter what's the trouble that we're suffering in
-
our life. Yes, they're very personal, Yes they affect us
-
on a day to day basis, But Matthew, we know
-
that greater things have been promised for us, and that's
-
where our hope lies. But there's people that forget that, Matthew.
-
They forget that, and in doing so, they well, they
-
chase after things they shouldn't chase after, Matthew, because they
-
think that's that's what's going to bring up happiness, that
-
that's what's gonna gonna help alleviate what they're going through.
-
And we know that's not true, Matthew. We know that
-
we're supposed to trust in our Lord. If we're really
-
in trouble, Matthew, we're supposed to cry out to him
-
and he will answer us. I mean, this is all,
-
this is all what's you know, what's said throughout the Bible,
-
and and so that's just what prompted me to look
-
into this parable because this is, you know, a great
-
example of what happens to a lot of people in
-
the church, Matthew.
-
They're raising the church and for whatever reason.
-
Normally I would suggest that a lot about the ego,
-
a lot about the self, a lot about wanting more
-
in life and and chasing that more. Well, you you
-
lose out on the real treasure that God's given us, Matthew.
-
So that's why we've done these last two episodes on
-
the Prodigal Sun, and we're gonna, you know, finish it
-
up tonight. Kind of the first one were kind of
-
explore the mindset of the person that follows a way,
-
the person that speaks after their own process instead of
-
seeking after the will of the Father, and where that
-
road leads, Matthew.
-
And and and I'm hoping.
-
Today to explore a little bit of how how how
-
to pull ourselves up out of that nose dive and
-
starry heading in the right direction, which we know is
-
the Kingdom of God, Matthew. So that's that's kind of
-
what my my idea be typed behind these states today.
-
Well, you know that's the best part, right when all
-
of a sudden the Prodigal Sun comes to his senses,
-
you know, you need to you know, we need to
-
figure out, how do you help somebody to that point?
-
How do you get him to that point?
-
Right?
-
Because verse seventeen, how do you do this? How do
-
you help somebody do this? Verse seventeen. But when he
-
came to himself, you know what you really have to
-
do is try to remind the people of what they are.
-
I mean, you do know who you are?
-
Right, yes?
-
I mean you want to you want to think in
-
your brain that well, let's just say this, let's just
-
make this very close and very personal. Right in my mind,
-
I am convinced that you know, I am my daddy's son.
-
And that's true. That is absolutely true. It is absolutely
-
true that I was trained up in the way I
-
should go. Of that there is not even a hint
-
of doubt that is true. He is gone and he's
-
entered his rest, and it would be shameful of me
-
to even desire him to come back and relieve my stress,
-
which I know he could do, no doubt about it.
-
But when I am feeling that, and when I remember
-
his great strength, I also remember that once I enter
-
the kingdom of heaven, Jose, and once you enter the
-
kingdom of heaven, our father was in heaven irregardless of
-
who our daddies were, Our father is in heaven. And
-
it's like during those stressful times you're longing and you're
-
looking for the absolute wrong ones, because there's only one
-
who can alleviate not only your signs, but your symptoms.
-
And he hasn't gone anywhere, and when he does, you'll
-
know it. He resides upon his thrones. That's where he is.
-
And it's amazing to me that. And you know, Jose,
-
there is this epidemic in the West that everybody knows,
-
this common thing that happens to preachers. Kids, that's what
-
they're called. Any children of the clergy, that's what they're called.
-
They're called creatures kids. And oh my goodness, there's some
-
famous ones or should I say infamous ones, infamous ones.
-
But how do you remind somebody that, hey, you're a Christians.
-
How do you get them to come to your sense?
-
You know, come to your senses? Look look around you,
-
everything the light touches is yours. It's yours by the
-
promises of a key who sit at the pong to throne.
-
All those places you haven't been, all those places you
-
long to go, all those places you cannot comprehend, according
-
to the promises of God, will be and is for
-
certainty yours. They're yours. Anything that can be valuable or
-
have value attributed to it will be rightfully yours. It'll
-
be rightfully yours. And that's the number one source of
-
all our troubles, right, Yes, ninety nine percent of our
-
troubles is consumed with finances, Jose. And of course that's
-
been We've just been brainwashed. I mean, the government has
-
done anything and everything they could possibly do to convince
-
it that if you need something, you must have their
-
currency to do so, right, right, So that's natural because
-
you know, when did you learn how to count? Jose?
-
What what great was that in elementary school that you
-
you was shown pictures of dimes and pennies.
-
And it's right at the beginning, Matthew, that's.
-
Right, that's right from the beginning, Yes, right from the
-
very beginning. You're going to you are an heir to creation.
-
Let's talk about the other thing. The other thing comes
-
in these magnificent bursts, much like a solar flare. You know,
-
these these troubles that ail us over valuables and things
-
that have value. It's like the constant heat of the sun.
-
But every once in a while there's a coronal mass ejection, right,
-
and this by way of death. And the New Testament
-
is illicit in its relaying of the message you will
-
not die, you cannot die. Once you've laid hold through
-
the promises, you become a son of God, and he
-
don't die, and you can't die. You're going to You're
-
going to live forever. I mean, once you take those
-
two things out, once you convince most people of these
-
two things, you have reminded them what they are, and
-
they come to their senses, much like what happens in
-
verse seventeen of Luke chapter fifteen. Now, I like how
-
different versions say it. But to make a long story short,
-
he come to you know, he come to his senses,
-
the kJ V says, and when he came to himself?
-
What is that? What is these two translations trying to
-
relate less? Flip back over to the New King James version.
-
It says, but when he came to himself, how do
-
you come to yourself? Jose?
-
Right?
-
Right, it's when your emotions have been dislocated, that is
-
to say. First Attle Salonians chapter five, verse twenty three
-
is very clear you are made in trinitarian form. You
-
are soma psych numa, so says God. You are what
-
the Greek calls your body, mind and spirit. And sometimes
-
a lot of distress will dislocate your psyche. Your mind
-
will wonder, so psychologists say you daydream, you have a
-
wandering mind. This was the place that the prodigal Sun
-
was in because his body and his spirit was of
-
course back in his place. His place was in his inheritance.
-
His inheritance was in a different country at his father's
-
house with his brother, and all of a sudden he
-
realized that my thoughts are back there. Why is my
-
body and my spirit here? He came to himself. All
-
of a sudden he had a Eureka moment, and his body,
-
his mind, and his spirit got on the same page.
-
What on earth am I doing here? I don't belong here?
-
That's really what we call we have to come to
-
grips with Jose, Right, how do you do that? So
-
that that that's my thoughts on the matter, Jose.
-
Back to you, well, Matthew, when specifically about that phrasing there,
-
what caught my eye was when I read the translation
-
that did he came to his senses but really he
-
came to himself. And even more confusing, then he came
-
to a sense of Matthew, because this is telling me
-
that all along, this within him doing the right thing,
-
was all along inside of him, but he was choosing
-
to go against it. That word in and greet and
-
Greek is the gene fourteen thirty eight.
-
It's the strongest number for Matthew.
-
And you know, so this and if we read the
-
parable correctly, then we understand that he was in the
-
family of the father.
-
He was there, he had everything he needed, you know,
-
it was all laid out for him.
-
He was going to get his inheritance, but he choose,
-
he chose to bend his insurance or use or wasted
-
inherent inheritance, you know, much in the same way that
-
we saw Esau and Reuben spoil their inheritance. Matthew, that,
-
like you said, that wandering eye, that that day dreaming,
-
that wanting, wanting, thinking that the grass is greener on
-
the other side. But when God uses this language that
-
he came to himself, that's what struck me, Matthew.
-
That that's what that's what made me kind of dig
-
into this.
-
Word and try to try to learn a little bit
-
more about what God's trying to say there. This is
-
not so saying that you know, you know, he did
-
a one eighty, or that he he became an you know,
-
he went from he became another person, though he came
-
to himself. He like you said, everything with the line
-
when he was at this point, everything is the line
-
correctly the way it should be, because his father, you know,
-
raised him up in the way which he should go,
-
and he knew what he was supposed to be doing before,
-
you know, before he faced all those temptations and brought
-
into it, Matthew. And and that makes me think about
-
Abraham and Isaac, because if father and in Luke fifteen,
-
he had to know what was going to happen when
-
he gave his stun an inheritance. He had to know
-
for all intents and purposes, he was, you know, sentencing
-
his son to death because he knew what he was
-
going to do with this inheritance.
-
Matthew.
-
So I can see the reactions when he is alive
-
he returns to the Father. It's like he's been written
-
from the dead, exactly the way Abraham believed that God
-
would do for Isaac if he had to sacrifice it.
-
If he had to go through with it, he.
-
Had the faith that God would raise would be able
-
to raise up either because of all the.
-
Other promises that he gave him before.
-
So I'm seeing a lot of parallels, Matthew, between between
-
between this probable son and what Abraham went through with Isaac.
-
It's really it's really amazed me looking at it from
-
that point.
-
And it should and you know, let's talk about that
-
a minute. Okay, why did his dad say that? Right?
-
Why did his dad say that he's come back from
-
the dead. Well, ladies and gentlemen, you certainly are a place.
-
When you become discombobulated from your body, you're dead. You're
-
most certainly dead. When your psyche or your spirit is
-
in absence of your body, you're dead. You're dead. And
-
this is exactly what his dad knew. We have a place, right,
-
We have a habitable zone, right, Jose. Yes, that is
-
to say that we cannot survive underwater, can we No,
-
we have a place. And we humans come in two forms,
-
so says First John, chapter three. You can either be
-
a child of God and they have habitable environments. They
-
really do. And those habitable environments are grossly different than
-
the habitable environments for the children of the devil. Take,
-
for instance, what is one place, Jose, you would not
-
go as a Christian wors one place you would never go,
-
even under bribe. What is one place you would not go,
-
even if you were bribed to do so.
-
I'd never go to a ship club, Matthew.
-
Do you want to know why, I'll tell you why.
-
That is not a habitable zone for the children of God. Right,
-
And this is what his dad knew. His dad knew
-
that he was inhabiting places where the children of God
-
had not exist. And we all need to be reminded
-
of this. Now, make no mistakes about it. This is
-
a true statement. If you live like the devil, you
-
will receive the devil's new But don't be surprised if
-
once you enter that place, if you be a child
-
of God, all of a sudden, everything will stop working correctly.
-
For example, Jose, if you go to the bottom of
-
the deep end of a swimming pool and you decide
-
to sit on the bottom, you can most certainly do
-
that correct correct Can you do that for an hour? No, Matthew, No,
-
you will lose your faculties, won't you Jose. Yes, in
-
short order, and a whole lot short of order than
-
an hour. Same thing will happen to you if you're
-
going to these places you should not be, if you
-
be a child of God, they will come with consequences.
-
You will lose your composure. In time, you will most
-
certainly lose your confidence. Let's ask that theory, Jose. I'm
-
sure that your mother's very nice, isn't she? Yes, And
-
she's very pleasant and very encouraging to you, all those
-
positive things that you need, right correct? What would happen
-
if she found out you were frequenting a strip club?
-
I'd get and she'd she'd get on me, Matthew, Jose,
-
stop stop, okay, yes, I'll tell you. What would happen, Jose,
-
You'd beat I'm a coward. Tell me how old is
-
your mother?
-
So she's big and.
-
Tough for.
-
No, no, So riddle me, Jose, why wouldn't you tell
-
her you were going to your strip club? I'll tell
-
you why? Because your award And just exactly like I said,
-
if you go outside your habitable zone, you will first
-
of all your composure. Then you'll lose your confidence and
-
become a coward. And from that point right there from
-
that event horizon. I assure you what psychology taught me
-
in the Institution of higher learning. Hose you will break down,
-
Yes you will. You'll break down bit by bit. The
-
cracks in your well being will multiply until you just crumbled.
-
Do you understand the difference between having cracks and crumbling?
-
Yep, that's what.
-
Will happen to you. And that's what happens to people
-
who do these sort of things. All of a sudden,
-
their life no longer has cracks. Here, a crack, here,
-
a crack there. Man, there's a crack over here in
-
the foundation. No no, no, no, no, there reaches a threshold
-
where it just crumbles. It just crumbles. And this is
-
the sort of thing you need to remind him of.
-
Well, Matthew, that that kind of matches one of the
-
places I found fourteen thirty eight at and that's in
-
Matthew twelve twenty six, where it says, if Satan cast
-
out Satan, he is divided against himself, how then will
-
his kingdom stand?
-
This is what you're talking about, Matthew.
-
If you're been raised in the church, okay, you've got
-
the front facing part of you that looks like a Christian, Matthew.
-
But in the back room you're you're partying with the devil.
-
Then that's going to crumble exactly like you said, Matthew,
-
your being is going to crumble.
-
Yes, it will first start with your psyche like I said,
-
your psychic will crumble, Then your body will crumble, then
-
your spirit will crumble, and then you'll just wind up this. Well,
-
psychologists call this a psychological mess. You'll wind up just
-
a psychological mess. You will actually either acquire high blood
-
pressure or diabetes or this or that, or abesity or anaxia. Yeah,
-
you'll become a mess. You will crumble because you have
-
deviated from the design of the living God. So we
-
have to get these brothers and sisters. Okay, you have
-
to get these brothers and sensors to come to their senses.
-
They have to come to themselves because where they lie
-
in their strength and then their vitality is in the
-
promises of God, not as where their strength lives. That
-
is where they are alive. You know, it's amazing to
-
me that there's a big difference between being alive and living,
-
right popping, big difference between being alive and living. But
-
you know, hard things to comprehend, hard things to wrap
-
your mind around. But when he came to himself, said,
-
now many of my father's hired servants have read enough
-
and to spare, and I perish.
-
With hunger, hey man, So I want to hit a
-
couple more verses, Matthew, where I found that that strongest
-
number in absolutely in Matthew sixteen twenty four. It said,
-
then Jesus said to his disciples, if anyone desires to
-
come after me, let him deny himself, kick up his cross,
-
and follow me. The next one Matthew Matthew eighteen four. Therefore,
-
whoever humbled himself as this little child is the greatest
-
in the Kingdom of heaven. And then one more Matthew
-
twenty three twelve. And whoever exalts himself will be humbled,
-
and he who humbles himself will be exalted. And Matthew,
-
this is just this is just lining right up with
-
everything you've been featuring tonight. And I know it's because
-
because you know this word and you know your Bible.
-
But this is what we're talking about. We when we're
-
when we've got these two cells, Matthew, right when we're
-
divided against our cell, when we know the way where
-
we should go when we know what we should be doing.
-
We know the team's commandments, we know the be attitudes.
-
But yet we choose to rebel against that and do
-
our own thing, do our own will I mean, and
-
right there and where Jesus said that he exolves himself
-
will be humbled, right that, that's you exalting yourself above
-
everybody else, because you're saying you're more important. What you
-
want is more important than even with what God wants.
-
And and he just told us exactly what's gonna happen.
-
And so the only way to to come to your senses, Matthew,
-
the only way to come to yourself and and have
-
that be correct, is if you are aligned with Jesus,
-
aligned with what what Jesus had said here in the Gospels.
-
You're you're gonna take up the cross just like she did.
-
You're gonna humble yourself just like she did, Matthew. We're
-
gonna humble ourselves as a child is, and only then
-
we'll be we'll be considered the greatest in the kingdom.
-
So it's just it's just the whole opposite way, Matthew,
-
of what our naturalistic thinking is the way our our
-
our selfish feelings are, the way our our self preservation
-
is right. We think we have to do certain things
-
in order to survive, in order to help our family survive,
-
that h make certain compromises and and I mean, if
-
we just believe what God himself said, Matthew, he's telling
-
us that that's not the way, that's not the way
-
he wants it.
-
That's not his will.
-
If you truly are his, if you truly are in
-
his kingdom, everyone else comes first, and you're just you're
-
just out there trying to do his will whatever whatever
-
that is, Matthew. In your in your household, you know,
-
you're putting your family first. In your workplace, you're putting
-
your employee and your and your your fellow coworkers first.
-
You know, when you're when you're out there in the world,
-
you're putting those that that you interact with, you're putting
-
them first and seeing to their to their needs. Which
-
is it's just totally contradictory to to what to what
-
the what's in the air today, Matthew, it's totally contradictory
-
to how we're told to deliver our lives today.
-
So that's what I'm hoping this that's little stuff.
-
We'll remind us of what we're supposed to be doing,
-
how we're supposed to be acting, acting.
-
You know, let's think about that for a minute. And
-
you know, let's think about why all these references are
-
to children, you know, because that's what we're really dealing with,
-
the prodigal son. Here, we're dealing with a child. We
-
are dealing with how do we say this the best
-
way to translate this, You know, ladies and gentlemen, it's
-
amazing how a child, in their minds, they cannot be
-
separated from their parents. Literally, their little innocent world is
-
solely dependent on their parents, and they don't know it.
-
They do know. When they're hungry, they go crying to
-
their parents. When they're cold, they go crying to their parents.
-
When they get hurt, they go crying to their parents.
-
Hearken to my voice, ladies and gentlemen, hearken to my voice.
-
They do not ever even assume that the authority to
-
fix anything lies within themselves. This is common knowledge. It
-
is common knowledge. Every parent that's ever had a child
-
can tell you that this is exactly what's happening with
-
the prodigal son. He has been dislocated from his parent,
-
He's been dislocated from his inheritance. So it is with
-
the children of God. If you exalt yourself, you think
-
the answers to all the problems you might encounter originates
-
within yourself. This is common knowledge. It's just a matter
-
of scology. This is the exact opposite way that a
-
Christian lives. A Christian lives knowing everything that they have
-
and are are attributed to the promises of God. I've
-
already stated this at the beginning of this program. What
-
we will receive is what we have inherited from God
-
the Son. There is no part of the New Testament
-
that does not say that we don't have a kingdom.
-
There is a kingdom with which we are a part
-
of that. It is not ours, is it, Jose. No.
-
It reminds me of the sons of Thunders. We approach
-
the king and said, what one of us said, at
-
your right side? One of us said at your left side.
-
Of course, Jesus replied, you have no idea what you're asking. Literally,
-
Jesus was in a parabolic way. Do you know what
-
parabolic means? Jesus spoke in parables that's from the Greek.
-
So I'm being very exact in my words. Powerabolus in Greek,
-
so I'm being very parabolic in stating that he was
-
saying to the sons of Thunder, No, no, no, no, no,
-
you don't want it to be your kingdom. There's only
-
one kingdom, and the kingdom is in the hands of
-
the father, and he decides who in goes to where
-
and who does what. The sons of Thunder was wanting
-
to establish their own kingdoms within his kingdom. They didn't
-
know what they were talking about, because we only have
-
an inheritance of something else. It's not ours, isn't Jose
-
Tell me, Jose, did I die and come back from
-
the dead?
-
No, you did not matter.
-
No, No did Martin Luther King? No? Did George Washington? No?
-
There is but one thing. And he writes, Supreme, this
-
is why that word was impregnated. And believe me when
-
I say I'm using that in a very calculating way.
-
That Greek word was impregnated into those verses, specifically to
-
relay that idea that a child instinctively knows this, and
-
for some reason when we grow up we think otherwise,
-
don't we especially teenagers. Right, I'll be the first in
-
stating that I know the dumbest teenager that ever lived
-
it was me. Well, do the same. For some reason,
-
we think that, well, if I get a promotion, well
-
if I get a different house, if I live in
-
a different zip code, all these things we can do,
-
and none of that trap matters. None of it matters,
-
None of it matter. What matters is that's our king
-
and our father as an inheritance, and we're a part
-
of it. And you can either be a part of
-
it or you could be miserable. Look, no one understand this.
-
Ladies and gentlemen. You've probably been deceived. You've probably been
-
deceived into believing that the church is a building. You've
-
been lied to. Your preachers, and your teachers and your priests,
-
they lied to you. I'm going to tell you the truth.
-
The church is the congregation. It's not the building. The
-
church is the congregation, not the building.
-
Hose that, Matthew.
-
There's one more place that I want to cover where
-
there's Chief fourteen thirty eight shows up in and it's
-
in Mark twelve thirty three, and I'm going to read
-
it out of the NAFB because of the way it
-
translates the word for us here it said, and to
-
love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding,
-
and with all the strength, and loved one's neighbor at himself.
-
It's much more than all the burnt offerings and sacrificers.
-
And Matthew, we know that this is what Jesus responded
-
when they tried to question him about the greatest commandment.
-
And that's what all the prodigal son is all about, Matthew.
-
That's why, that's what his brother accuses him. He reminds,
-
the brother reminds the Father that he's followed all the commandments,
-
and yet this this brother has not.
-
It's the reason.
-
Why the when the when the probibal son returns, why
-
he said that that he had thinned against heaven right
-
and against them end before the Father. So, boy, Matthew,
-
when I saw that word in that verse, it's just
-
again another reminder of coming to to ourselves, coming to
-
coming to himself, the probigal son coming to himself, and
-
us coming to ourself, Matthew, when we're aligned in following
-
the commandments of the Father and following the beattitude laid
-
out by the Son Matthew.
-
Then we're aligned with the Holy Spirit. We are complete, we.
-
Are ourselves as we're supposed to be. We've returned to ourselves.
-
The individual that does this has returned to himself, Matthew.
-
And yeah, I know I've read I've read this parable, Matthew,
-
just like a well like as as a as a
-
baby Christian. Right, as a way to read it to
-
be encouraged when we fall off the wagon, as a
-
way to preach to those individuals that that are the
-
situation that the prodigal son was, Matthew, that find themselves
-
in the pig pen, in the pig sty. Right, this
-
is a great, a great place to go to to
-
show them what God hasn't starved with them, Matthew. But
-
when you actually see the words that God uses and
-
line them up, it's just again, of course I make
-
perfect set. Of course, there's no confusion of what God's
-
trying to say, Matthew. But it just blows me away that,
-
you know, the way, the way he puts this word
-
throughout his whole Bible and leading this all to that,
-
to that Mark twelve and Tower and to the greatest Commandment.
-
I mean, it's just it's just It just blowed me
-
away back.
-
It amazes me, and I should not be surprised, but
-
it does it to me every single time I start
-
studying it.
-
Every single time, Yep, I agree, every single time it
-
has the same effect. It has the same effect. It
-
ever changes. And that's that's quite amazing to me. And
-
it should be quite amazing to me because after all
-
this time, after all this time, I still look at
-
and just marvel after it. I'm marvel after it. That
-
it's a wonder. It truly is a wonder had it?
-
You know, every single thing that Saw one nineteen says
-
of it is true. And that's a pretty tall order,
-
you know. I wonder how many people even know on
-
Psalm one nineteen is about. I wonder if they know
-
it's an acrostic. You know, it is the longest chapter
-
in the Bible, and the chapter is about the Bible,
-
and it is set up as an acrostic in Hebrew.
-
That is to say that every stanza is in alphabetical
-
order from Aluf to twelve. That should gets your attention.
-
If it doesn't, it should. But when's the last time
-
you heard that, Jose, It's been a while.
-
I know it does, but Yeah, it's been a while
-
since I've had heard somebody say that.
-
And it is a big chapter to bite off and.
-
Shoot, no doubt about it being the longest chapter in
-
the Bible. But that's for a reason. And you know,
-
this is one of the primary things that we probably
-
should do. These people who are discombobulated with themselves, they're dislocated,
-
you know, one of the very most the first thing
-
you should do would be to convince them and encourage
-
them to do devotions. Right now, to a lot of people,
-
that means a lot of different things, right, Jose. When
-
I say that to you, you know, Jose, have you
-
been doing your devotions? In your mind? Mind? What's a devotion?
-
When I hear that word, Matthew, I I I think about,
-
you know, reading specific passages in the Bible that would
-
remind me to pray in a certain way, remind me
-
to get thank, remind me to worship, because those again,
-
when we're not when we're not aligned, right, Matthew, we
-
forget about all those things.
-
But that's to me, that's what a devotion should do.
-
It should be a reminder of what we're supposed to
-
be doing.
-
Interesting, okay, interesting, well, to me, I always use the
-
acronym tag. It's a tag, well like an across stick.
-
But anyway, time along is God. That's what it is.
-
It is time alone with God. That's what a devotion
-
is by definition. Now, lots of churches you have this
-
little you know, booklet to go along with it, and
-
there's many devotional books you can get. Right you go
-
to a Christian bookstore, well, if there are any Christian
-
book stores, you can go to one and get these
-
devotionals where you have you know, three hundred and sixty
-
five pages and them usually and you have one devotion
-
for today where you read this and you know it's
-
your time alone with God. It doesn't have to be that.
-
Your time alone with God could possibly be you just
-
setting aside, you know, three minutes out of your day
-
to pray. Because I hate to be the bearer of
-
bad news people, but this is a fact. Isn't it amazing, Jose,
-
how many people that are just discombobulated. You ask them, well,
-
have you prayed about it? Invariably? They say no, don't
-
they right? Invariably? So I need to say that the
-
most important thing you need to relate to these people
-
is well, they need to you know, spend time alone
-
with God. Yes, you can read the Bible, and I
-
strongly suggest you do to do so. But in the
-
very beginning it will be a struggle for them just
-
to pray. Well, Jose, yeah, I will. I mean you
-
will have to convince them to pray about it. And
-
a lot of times you'll get this, You'll just get
-
a feeling that they can't do it. So there's been
-
many times when I've you know, slapped my hands on
-
somebody's shoulder and said, well, can I pray with you?
-
Lets you and I pray about it first, and that
-
it started them doing their own prayer. But ladies and gentlemen,
-
we are made in God's image, aren't we, Jose.
-
Amen.
-
That means we are incredibly shystematic. Now, this manifests itself
-
by what we call habits. Right, we are habitual. We
-
can literally program ourselves to do things every day, and
-
we do, don't we, Jose Let me ask you something.
-
What's the very first thing you do after you open
-
your eyes in the morning.
-
Do I have to go at the head of the
-
rest and the first Matthew? But after that, okay, I
-
brushed my teeth.
-
That's that's It's just I don't I don't want to
-
wake my wife up with ikey breath.
-
Matthew, I brush my teeth.
-
Aymen, could I deter you from that? I couldn't deter
-
you from that? Could I? Even if I invited you
-
to my house, Even if I invited you to my house,
-
that's what you do in the morning, I couldn't stop you. Yes. Absolutely,
-
Yet this is one of our strengths being made in
-
God's image. We can we can do something. We can
-
program our bodies to do it, and that's easy to
-
do with today's technology. That is to say, if I
-
prayed for you, and let's say you know it was
-
you know, let's say in the afternoon after work five o'clock,
-
be very easy for me to text you and remind you, hey,
-
Jose you need to you need to say a prayer
-
to the Lord. You need to pay him, you need
-
to pay what is due him. Jose.
-
Amen. Amen.
-
So it's very easy for us to encourage our brothers
-
and sisters in that way in today's world. With electronics.
-
I mean right now, I have many of these things
-
that I've set up. Take note, as of late, we
-
had on Chris L. Leslie for an interview, and take note,
-
ladies and gentlemen, On the twenty fifth of every month,
-
I've already scheduled a reminder that I am to text
-
him and ask him how he's coming along on his
-
first book on December twenty fifth, as being the date
-
of Christmas. He has told me that he has enough
-
material for three books, three volumes on the subject. He
-
can prove beyond any shadow of a doubt that December
-
twenty fifth has nothing to do with unclean spirits and paganism.
-
Nothing.
-
He has enough evidence to write three books on it.
-
So he has given me his word that he's pretty
-
sure he can get the first one published with no
-
problem by next Christmas. I have been made in my
-
father's image, and I am incredibly habitual. I can program
-
myself to be systematic, and by the word of the Lord,
-
that's what I will do. Every twenty fifth of every month.
-
I will send him a reminder. You know, the only
-
way that the image of God can crumble into a
-
mess is by intention. It is not by design be
-
done intentionally, And the only way to put Humpty Dumpty
-
back together again is to get systematic, start working according
-
to your design.
-
Amen, hose Amen, Matthew, yep, And that is.
-
A pretty simple way to put it. So this is,
-
you know what we need to be doing. Encourage you people, Hey,
-
are you doing devotions? You need to a number one
-
pray and if you've got time and the place, because
-
the place isn't always that easy to get old of,
-
especially in this generation. I mean, you know, I hate
-
to get people out of their comfort zone. But many
-
of these young people that graduate high school, Jose, they
-
can't find a job. Did you know that? Yep? Did
-
you know there's not enough jobs for them? So they
-
will pack together in apartments. I mean it's not uncommon
-
for eight or ten of them to get together in
-
one apartment because they'll all be able to get part
-
time jobs. Did you know that?
-
Right?
-
So them finding the time to read their Bible could
-
be very tricky if they have you know, eight or
-
nine ruminants, so everybody's allowed to look on their phone.
-
Encourage them. Will need to get a Bible app and
-
just read the Bible on your phone. Then they won't
-
know they won't distribute it. But you need to encourage
-
them to get connected with God's word because I assure
-
you you don't know about the Lord Jesus Christ by
-
your church building. No, that's a lie. No, no, no.
-
The only way you know about the Lord Jesus Christ
-
is because of the Word of God. I paradly just
-
shocked most of them. But most of you have been
-
convinced that you know about Jesus because of the church. No,
-
you don't. You know of the Lord Jesus Christ and
-
everything that he has dictated for his children to accomplish
-
only from the Bible, God's Holy Word. You know, it's
-
amazing to me that how all these buildings they'll have
-
adochisms and creeds, right, Jose, yep, and they have confirmations,
-
ladies and gentlemen. The Bible don't have no creeds, it doesn't.
-
Those are only associated with individual buildings. And you know what,
-
I'm fairly well certain that if there's people listening to
-
my voice that are part of the Kingdom of Heaven
-
and have become dislocated, it's the clergy's fault.
-
You know.
-
Jose and I have developed quite a relationship over the
-
past decade, but I've never seen Jose's face, and that's
-
the truth. I have no idea what his wife's favorite
-
air freshen or candles are. I have no idea what
-
his house smells like, because the only link between Jose
-
and I is the Bible, God's Holy Word, and his spirit.
-
That's it. He goes to a different building than I do,
-
and I don't even go to a building anymore.
-
I've had enough of them. I've had enough of them.
-
I'm a part of a congregation, and that congregation don't
-
have an address. That congregation doesn't have a number inscribed
-
upon it. Did I say it in a way that
-
we get your attentions? Yeah, buildings are inscribed with an
-
address assigned by the government. Congregation don't, doesn't.
-
Jose, Nope.
-
Do you know what I am? Jose, I'm gonna blow
-
your mind. You realize I'm a South African, I'm an Australian,
-
I'm a German. Do you know I'm in every time zone?
-
Did you know that?
-
Amen?
-
My congregation is everywhere. The light touches the promise ermeates
-
God's creation, It has no boundaries. Amen.
-
Amen.
-
So you know that's my best advice for people that
-
have found themselves dislocated and discombobulated, dis oriented. If you
-
want to get your orientation and figure out where you're at,
-
get your bearings. If you want to get your bearings,
-
get to the Bible, God's Holy Word. And I assure
-
you he did not write it to confuse you. And
-
you don't need them idiots telling you what it says.
-
Can you read, Jose.
-
And I read yet, Matthew.
-
Have you ever heard me tell you what the Bible says? No,
-
you haven't. I've always told you to read it. Yes,
-
I can expound on what it actually says in his
-
original language. And that's really what I've done for you,
-
right right. I've taught you what the Greek says, or
-
what the told you what the Hebrew says, because that's
-
what the Bible, God's Holy Word is. It's not a translation,
-
and that's what I'm telling all of you. You don't
-
need me to tell you what it says. That is available,
-
and really the English translation you're looking at, it's just
-
a gateway for when you get hungry, because you're gonna
-
get hungry and you're gonna scratch your head and say, well,
-
that's an awful strange way to put out the English.
-
I wonder what that actually says. The resources are available
-
today for you to find out what the Greek and
-
what the Hebrew actually says for free. Jose Don't you
-
do this for free every single time you look at
-
the Bible.
-
Amen.
-
This is freely available, the original Hebrew and Greek. It's
-
readily available. And that's what we need to encourage you
-
to do. You need to pray about it. You need
-
to pray about your situation. I understand your situation could
-
be a mess. I have family members right now in
-
that are in dire straits. And guess who's faulted this.
-
They took themselves outside of the promises of God. Nobody
-
took them, you know, nobody put them under change and
-
drugged them away from God's promises and all. They did
-
that all by themselves. So I understand your plight, but
-
I know this God is faithful, Amen, Jose.
-
Amen.
-
Matthew, your final comments please.
-
Well, Matthew.
-
I think an important thing to remember about the Luke
-
fifteen and the Parable of the prodigal Son, is that
-
when he finally does come to himself, Matthew, and finally
-
knows he has to return to the Father, he repents.
-
He gets down on his knees and repent before the
-
Father in heaven and he gets down on his knees
-
and repent before his own father for what he's done,
-
what he's sinned against him. So, I mean, God, God's
-
telling you the whole formula here, Matthew. He knows, he
-
knows what we're gonna do. He knows we're gonna fall,
-
we're gonna stumble. He knows that some of us, Matthew,
-
are gonna walk away. But he's given us the whole
-
formnute for how to return. That's what he wants. He
-
wants you to repent. He wants you to stop being
-
a sinner and enter into the Kingdom of heaven. And
-
we've been given the whole formula. And I mean, we
-
didn't really even get into, Matthew, how prophetic these verses are.
-
And what it means, you know, and.
-
What it means and what is to come right, the
-
prophetic implications of the prodigal son. And that's but I
-
don't think, I don't think we need to go there
-
with this study right now, Matthew. I think we need
-
to understand and we need to bring those that have
-
turned their back on the Father and let them know
-
that there is a path back to remember how they
-
were raised to remember what they were instructed as a child,
-
and that God's still here waiting. The Father is still waiting,
-
and he's going to celebrate just like the Father did
-
in Luke fifteen, Matthew. And it's a beautiful thing. It
-
should encourage us if we're the prodigal son, it should
-
encourage us, if our loved ones are the prodigal ones,
-
it should just encur Just Matthew, that God's still thinking
-
to grow to the kingdom and he and he knows
-
how to do it. So let's let's continue to do
-
what you said, Matthew. Will continue to pray, Let's continue
-
to read our bible, and let God's will be done.
-
Let God's will be done.
-
You know.
-
It brings me to remembrance, Matthew, Chapter nine, verse thirteen,
-
because there's no other better verse than this in this time.
-
It really is. Because he calls you to tell you
-
to go and learn, right, he says, go figure out
-
what this means. Go figure out what this means, people, Matthew,
-
Chapter nine, verse thirteen, Go and learn what this means.
-
I desire mercy and not sacrifice, for I did not
-
come to call the righteous, but sinner to repentance. Oh,
-
my goodness. You need to get something to write with.
-
You need to write this down. Ladies and gentlemen. You
-
need to write this down if you're discombobulated and dislocated
-
and dis oriented about who and what you are. Matthew
-
chapter nine, verse thirteen. But go and learn what this means.
-
I desire mercy and not sacrifice, for I did not
-
come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Jose,
-
please take us out of here in prayer.
-
You're heavenly Father who we love and serve.
-
I thank you once again, and I will thank you
-
continuously for allowing us to gather as your congregation.
-
Father.
-
I thank you for giving us your word. I thank
-
you for giving us your holy spirit to guide us
-
do this study. And I thank you for drawing together
-
those that need to hear this message. Father, Lord, I
-
pray today that you remind us whether we are the
-
prodigal son, whether we are the brother that has remained
-
with the father, whether we are that father that is
-
seeking lost children. Lord, remind us to spend time with you,
-
remind us to pray, remind us to lay our burdens
-
on you, Father, and remind us that you have given
-
us your word, show us the light our path in
-
the way which we shall go. Lord, I pray for
-
those that are currently lost, those that you seek to
-
return to your sheepfold. Lord, I pray that you put
-
that yearning for your son in their heart. Let it burn,
-
draw them to you. Let them hear this ncs that
-
Let them walk into whatever person is nearby, whatever crimson
-
is downding near them, that they may hear your word, Lord,
-
and come closer to your son and enter into your kingdom. Lord,
-
to ask all this and the name of your son,
-
our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
-
Amen, Amen and Amen. Until next time, ladies and gentlemen,
-
God bless, God speed.
