  1. In the name of the glorious Trinity, Father and Son and Holy

  2. Spirit forever. Amen.

  3. Glory be to the everlasting mercies which sent you to us, O

  4. Christ, the light of the world and the life of all.

  5. Give us wisdom. By your law and enlighten our

  6. impulses. By your knowledge.

  7. Sanctify our souls by your truth, and grant that we may be

  8. obedient to your words and may fulfill your commandments at

  9. every hour. O you who?

  10. Enlightens the rationale with the knowledge of your greatness.

  11. Do enlight, O, my Lord, our thoughts that we may meditate

  12. upon your holy and divine scriptures at all times, O.

  13. Lord of all. Father and Son and Holy Spirit.

  14. Forever. Amen.

  15. Two points that are so emphasized and stressed by my

  16. Protestant friends when speaking about salvation are by grace and

  17. faith alone and now obviously quoting or perhaps misquoting

  18. Ephesians. St.

  19. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians, chapter 2 verses 8 to 9 which

    Ephesians 2:8–9

  20. reads for it is by his grace that we have been saved through

  21. faith, and this faith was not from you, but it is the gift of

  22. God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

  23. Now face value those two points. Yes we need to emphasize.

  24. But here some some say that it's not faith that is a gift, but

  25. rather grace. Because faith is a self labour

  26. accomplished myself. Well OK, but I ask how can faith

  27. have saved the Ephesians, the church in Ephesians, unless God

  28. had willed to accept them by means of that faith.

  29. So you see it's a work between God and men.

  30. And yes it all goes back to God. Faith, Grace, and even deeds.

  31. Why? Because if Christ had not come

  32. and called the Ephesians and the entire world to faith in him,

  33. they would certainly have heard, wouldn't have heard him and they

  34. wouldn't have obeyed him. They wouldn't have obeyed the

  35. calling. Hence St.

  36. Paul writes in Romans chapter 10, verse 14, how shall they

    Romans 10:14

  37. believe in him of whom they have not heard so?

  38. Even faith is from God because Christ came and preached the one

  39. faith, one true faith in God, in himself and in the Holy Spirit.

  40. One thing though, let's go back to the verse and not sure if you

  41. notice that the word alone does not appear in the verse.

  42. So is it being added in these statements?

  43. To emphasize the emphasis and make a point, let me read it

  44. again, For it is by His grace that we have been saved through

  45. faith, and this faith was not from you, but is the gift of God

  46. through Jesus Christ, not of works.

  47. Lest anyone should be boast the word, let's play Sola Scriptura.

  48. The word alone does not appear in the in the in the verse

  49. likewise just believe, just believe and accept Jesus Christ

  50. in your heart and you will be saved.

  51. And again quoting or misquoting maybe Romans chapter 10 verses 9

    Romans 10:9–10

  52. to 10 which reads If any of you will confess with your mouth our

  53. Lord Jesus and you will believe in your heart that God has

  54. raised him from the dead, you shall have life.

  55. The word just or accept don't appear in that verse.

  56. Once again, as I said, no word they've been added.

  57. Now when you add to the Holy Scriptures and to the Word of

  58. God, can you be held in contempt of Deuteronomy According to

  59. chapter 12 verse 32 which reads And God commands every word that

  60. I command to you, keep it and do you shall not add upon it and

  61. you shall not subtract from it. Or Proverbs chapter 30 verse six

    Proverbs 30 chapter mention

  62. do not add to his words lest he rebuke you and you be proven a

  63. liar. Now themes are warning words, so

  64. let's take a look at Ephesians chapter 2 and examine.

    Ephesians 2 chapter mention

  65. Notice I said Ephesians chapter 2 and not only verses 8:00 to

    Ephesians 2 chapter mention

  66. 9:00 because there are 22 verses in that chapter and we can't

  67. come to a conclusion on salvation just by looking at

  68. those two on one verse. Let's examine Ephesians chapter

    Ephesians 2 chapter mention

  69. 2 and examine and see what it's all about.

  70. What is it talking about? Certainly in Isaiah as I said,

  71. not just one mere verse to come to a conclusion in regards to

  72. salvation. What about the rest of the 21

  73. verses? What do we do with those or 19

  74. or 20 verses? Before we delve into this, a

  75. little info on the church in Ephesus.

  76. Ephesus was a a coastal city in Asia Minor, nowadays Turkey, and

  77. the church was comprised of both former Jews and former Gentiles.

  78. Note the word former that can be simply defined as BC Jews and BC

  79. Gentiles still guilty, still condemned under the law

  80. according to the law, corrupted fallen state, sin and in death.

  81. So what Saint Paul is doing to the BC Jews and the BC Gentiles

  82. in Ephesians chapter 2? He's taking them back to BC

    Ephesians 2 chapter mention

  83. before our Lord and our Savior Jesus Christ from verses one to

  84. three. And we're going to break these

  85. verses down. And then what does he do?

  86. He brings them to where they are verses 9 or 4 to 9 after AD

  87. Anodon Dom Anodomini which means in the year of Our Lord and

  88. that's until verse 9. Keeping in mind still there are

  89. still 13 verses we need to continue to read to get the real

  90. and true understanding of the message which pertains to

  91. salvation. Yes, let's break it down and

  92. when we do break it down, this is how it plays out.

  93. The Ephesians, Jews and Gentiles were number one verse one dead

  94. in trespasses and sins by choice not by nature.

  95. God created everything good. Those who were Gentiles and non

  96. Jews had the breath of life. They had the law written on

  97. their hearts so their nature was good.

  98. So by choice they were dead in trespasses and in sins.

  99. Pay attention. This is before Paul introduces

  100. them to being saved. From what?

  101. Dead in trespasses and sins? Walking in sin, following in the

  102. course of the world, Verse 2. Again in verse two, following

  103. the Prince of the power of the world, That is the devil, the

  104. collaborator, the power of the devil.

  105. That's what they were following. They had a spirit, a satanic

  106. spirit at work in them as children of disobedience.

  107. So the passions of their flesh, including Paul himself, he's

  108. saying we all once lived in this dilemma.

  109. In this predicament they were following the desires of the

  110. body and the mind is all in verse 2.

  111. By nature they were children of faith.

  112. Now by nature, not that God created their nature corrupt.

  113. No is that by their free will they brought on the wrath of

  114. God. By nature they were children of

  115. wrath. Through their free will they

  116. brought on to themselves the wrath of God.

  117. So that's verses 123. Now comes verse 4 where Paul is

  118. talking about the richness of the mercy of God.

  119. So they were in that dilemma. They were in that sin.

  120. They were in the fallen, corrupted, corruption, sin,

  121. fallen away from from grace, from the presence of God, from

  122. the relationship of God. And now Paul wants to tell them

  123. that now what God has done to them or done for them because

  124. God did not desire them to perish.

  125. Verse 5 They were made alive with Christ.

  126. Through Christ. Once again they had been formed

  127. anew. And where do they receive this

  128. newness of form in their baptism?

  129. Because they had baptized. And then Paul goes on to say

  130. that they were saved by grace. This all that happened prior BC

  131. before Christ. This was all you're doing.

  132. And yet God still showed his mercy and God renewed you.

  133. God redeemed you through Jesus Christ not because you were

  134. worthy because of your deeds. Don't you dare boast because

  135. your deeds were evil. God renewed you by His grace.

  136. God raised you from the dead by His grace.

  137. God renewed you in baptism. By His grace.

  138. Romans 6 verses four to five. We were buried with him in

  139. baptism into death. For as Jesus the Messiah arose

  140. from among the dead in the glory of his Father, in this way also

  141. we shall walk in a new life. For if we have been planted as

  142. one with him in the likeness of his death in baptism, in this

  143. way also we shall be in his resurrection.

  144. Don't even boast about the faith because that too was from God.

  145. Because if Jesus had not came come, we would not believed in

  146. Him and there would have been no faith and we would still be in

  147. that same predicament of the punishment of the law, Oh holy

  148. sacrament, Baptism, the mystery of Baptism, how you are

  149. downplayed, how you are moderated by ignorance.

  150. You know people think baptism is only a sign, is only a symbol.

  151. Mighty brother, mighty sister, you're being put to death.

  152. You are taking part in Christ's death and resurrection for

  153. baptism. It's not just a mere symbol.

  154. And this again not because of what the Ephesians did be seen.

  155. Again. They were dead in trespasses and

  156. sins, walking in sin, following the course of the world,

  157. following the Prince of the power of the air.

  158. But beloved, when Paul claims rightly and rejoices them by the

  159. truth that they were saved from their past, this does by no

  160. means mean that it has been wrapped up in a little leat,

  161. little neat package, as they say, and it's done.

  162. That's it. There is nothing else you need

  163. to do. You can, you can continue

  164. sinning. You can live a life according to

  165. what you desire. Because you have been saved by

  166. grace. Grace.

  167. You know, Saint Paul writes to Jude that those who used grace

  168. as a license of sin, he's talking about those people who

  169. today are claiming that I've been saved by grace because

  170. Saint Paul is quoting this or he's teaching us this in

  171. Ephesians chapter 2, verse nine. Well, we just talked about what

    Ephesians 2 chapter mention

  172. Saint Paul is talking about. For those who emphasize this

  173. cliche, this point that I have been saved by faith alone.

  174. Deeds have got nothing to do. There is nothing else we need to

  175. do. Well, be prepared.

  176. Stop, stop everything. Stop everything.

  177. One of my sisters messaged me and said, Ravi, send me a

  178. picture of her laying back and saying I stopped ironing.

  179. I think it was or that I stopped washing the dishes.

  180. Yes, stop. Because now there's going to be

  181. a bubble burst, there's going to be a rain on a parade.

  182. There's going to be an awakening.

  183. Polite, loving, caring, gentle and certainly a correcting drum

  184. roll, drum roll, drum roll. The Ephesians and you and I

  185. today who have received salvation and have received new

  186. life in Christ, and we are living in Christ, as Saint Paul

  187. states in Romans chapter 8. Therefore there is no fault for

    Romans 8 chapter mention

  188. those who are in Christ, and some versions have stopped at

  189. that point, but no the true version.

  190. Because you know what? You know some of these Bible

  191. versions, you know that those authors have have have also

  192. implemented their theology into the translation.

  193. And woe, woe, woe to those people.

  194. Woe. For there is no fault.

  195. For those who are in Christ yet not live according to the flesh,

  196. there is no fault but not living according to the flesh.

  197. Do not for one minute dare to claim for yourself that you are

  198. worthy of what Christ has done to you and you now do not have

  199. to continue or do anything else because it is by grace.

  200. Don't kick back and don't be laxed.

  201. And don't claim victory yet, beloved.

  202. Fight the good fight. We need to continue.

  203. You know it's not a hook, line and sinker victory.

  204. No, no. There's still got to be a fish.

  205. You have the hook, you have the line, You have the sinker.

  206. We need to continue to fish. And here is the busting of the

  207. bubble. Here is the raining on the

  208. parade. Read verse 10.

  209. Please read it with me. If you have your bibles opened,

  210. he's telling the Ephesians from the past, from the BC you have

  211. been saved from that now. The punishments, the punishment

  212. has been paid, the debt has been paid, The sacrificial lamb has

  213. been slained. The only sacrificial lamb that

  214. appeased God, which is Jesus Christ has been slained.

  215. That past is gone. That past has been put.

  216. It's a history now, but going on verse 10, Are you ready?

  217. Are you equipped? Here we go, For we are His

  218. creation, God's creation. Praise and glory be to His name,

  219. who are created in Jesus the Messiah, Jesus Christ for good

  220. works. Let me repeat it for good works

  221. which God has before prepared for us to walk in.

  222. There was good, There was goodness, God had prepared.

  223. But we dropped the ball and we're going to talk about this

  224. next episode. Why is it that before this

  225. verse, Paul is saying don't boast about your deeds, Your

  226. deeds did nothing for you apart from corrupted you.

  227. But here he's telling us don't betray good deeds now.

  228. So which one is it? Well, we'll talk about that next

  229. week or next program, next episode.

  230. So we are created for good deeds, but we drop the ball,

  231. beloved. But now after being saved from

  232. the past and remaining in faith in the new life that we have

  233. received through baptism through Jesus Christ, we are also called

  234. to doing good deeds. For how long we'll talk about

  235. this next episode. Always keep in mind faith alone.

  236. According to James chapter 2 verses 14 to 16 is dead.

    James 2:14–16

  237. Faith alone is dead. There was nothing we had to do

  238. to receive Jesus Christ. We did not ask for the Lord to

  239. send us the Saviour while we were sinners.

  240. Jesus died for us. Amen.

  241. And praise be to his name. He's resurrected now.

  242. Al Masih come Hakkan come. Christ is risen.

  243. Indeed He is risen. He's risen, but we didn't ask.

  244. We weren't worthy. But God, out of the abundance of

  245. His love and goodness and mercy and grace, sent His only

  246. begotten Son, and did not spare him until the death of Christ on

  247. the Christ. And we were saved from that

  248. everlasting or we were saved from that punishment of sin and

  249. the corruption. But now we have an obligation to

  250. the Lord and we're going to read some verses.

  251. Keep this equation in mind. Faith which means living in the

  252. new life with Christ that we have all received in Holy

  253. Baptism plus good works. No one can debate debate this

  254. now. It's in the verse verse 10 for

  255. good works. So faith that is living in the

  256. new life with Christ plus good works times.

  257. It's greater, a greater power, right?

  258. Faith plus good works. But times the grace of God

  259. equals eternal life, eternal everlasting life with Jesus

  260. Christ eternal salvation. Let me give you an example.

  261. There is a boy that is drowning. A boy is dying and I jump into

  262. the water and rescue him from the waters and I resuscitate the

  263. boy and the boy comes back to life, is breathing and he's

  264. saved, delivered from that death.

  265. Now what will my suggestions be to the boy?

  266. Do you not know how to swim? No.

  267. Well you need to go. Now is what you need to do.

  268. I've saved you. To continue to remain in this

  269. salvation, you need to go and get some swimming lessons.

  270. I would encourage the parents to take the child for swimming

  271. lessons. I would then teach the child

  272. that when you come to dive into the waters, make sure that

  273. you're not in the deep end. Make sure that it is the shallow

  274. end, but regardless, if you take your swimming lessons and you

  275. can swim, then you can jump into the waters.

  276. But be careful where you jump now.

  277. If the boy does not take heed to what I have suggested, what I

  278. have commanded, what I have request and instructed, and the

  279. boy jumps one more time into the water.

  280. Will my first act of salvation save the person's or the boy's

  281. life? No, it won't.

  282. The boy has to do something to continue to remain in that first

  283. salvation that he has received. From my goodness that I jump

  284. into the water. It is the same.

  285. Christ has has saved us once and for all from the punishment of

  286. the law, from the corruption, from the dead state of man of

  287. the law. But then he has also instructed,

  288. according to the Scriptures, that in order to, in order to

  289. remain in that relationship in that salvation and the benefits

  290. of the salvation and the fruits of the salvation, I must

  291. continue with good deeds one more time faith living in the

  292. life or the new life in Christ plus good works times.

  293. The grace of God is eternal salvation, eternal life.

  294. And for those who debate works, let me read Matthew 1627.

  295. We're going to talk about this more next episode.

  296. For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of his Father

  297. with the holy angels, and then he will repay each men according

  298. to his works deeds. There is a reward.

  299. If these are not significant, not important, why are we being

  300. rewarded for our deeds? Matthew 2523 and the master will

  301. say Jesus Christ. Well done.

  302. Listen to this very carefully. Well done.

  303. Good and faithful servant. You can't tell me he's talking

  304. about faith. In both both instances.

  305. Good means good faith. No, no faithful means you're in

  306. faith. Well done.

  307. Good and faithful servant. What does the servant do?

  308. He serves the master. He does.

  309. He has deeds. He has a service, obligation,

  310. well done, good and faithful servant.

  311. If goodness was of no avail, why would the Lord not say, Well

  312. done, faithful servant, come and enter the bliss and the joy of

  313. your Father. Praise and glory be to the

  314. Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

  315. Now not all times and forever. Amen.
