  1. Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, Welcome to the fellowship. We are

  2. your host erin and Matthew. Boy, it's been a while

  3. since we did this. Huh, it's been a long time

  4. since we done this. So sonight's program is, well, it's

  5. just going to be open format. We haven't got to

  6. give him studied for this, right, We haven't put together

  7. notes or anything like that. But you know, the theme,

  8. if you want to give this chapter a theme, is

  9. certainly our command to have a ministry of reconciliation. So

  10. that means something, and it obviously means something pretty important,

  11. this ministry of reconciliation, So you know, with that in mind,

  12. what's your comments about the chapter?

  13. Eric, Well, I actually took a Corinthians class in college,

  14. so I studied a lot the context of this text,

  15. and I think it's really helpful to place the context

  16. of what it's talking about so it doesn't confuse you.

  17. I've noticed that it can really be confusing. It was

  18. confusing my first time reading it over this time and

  19. I was like, wait a second, I know what the

  20. context is, so it's helpful to place it in that.

  21. So this is a sequel to the first letter that

  22. he sent to the Corinthians. And the issue that the

  23. Corinthian Church was having was that there was a set

  24. of people claiming to be apostles. They came to these

  25. churches and they claimed to be speaking for God, they

  26. had special revelations, there are many things that they were teaching.

  27. Know that they were judaizers. They thought that you had

  28. to be circumcised to join the faith. They also denied

  29. that Jesus physically rose up from the dead, so they

  30. thought he rose up from the dead in some spiritual sense.

  31. But another thing that we're doing was accusing Paul. So

  32. Paul was the one who came in set up this church.

  33. He's the one who converted these people. He's the one

  34. who shared the Gospel with them. So the super apostles

  35. they show up while he's gone, while he's gone, and

  36. he's like, yeah, well, get a load of these guys.

  37. And they started accusing Paul of being proud, trying to

  38. prop himself up. They're saying he made up a bunch

  39. of stuff. And so basically the Corinthian Church whom Paul

  40. established started turning against Paul, and so Paul is having

  41. to kind of so they're accusing him of boasting, and

  42. so when he talks about boasting here, that's the context.

  43. What can I boast about? So I thought that.

  44. Was a good thing to point out before we get

  45. into it.

  46. What I'd like to say about this is it's really

  47. off the hook, the opening verses here when you put

  48. this into the context of Revelation chapter seven, because Revelation

  49. chapter seven, starting in verse nine, make no mistakes here.

  50. Literally in the Greek, it says that during this time

  51. God is going to tabernacle over us. He uses meta

  52. in Greek, He's going to tabernacle over us. When you

  53. see that's what's going on there in those verses. I mean,

  54. for anybody who wants to check that out, I strongly

  55. suggest that you do so, because that's what that chapter

  56. is about. The Greek comes right out and says that

  57. when you realize that, boy, these opening verses in Sewod

  58. Corinthians chapter five are really off the really off the rails.

  59. So God's word being polycenic, he's prophetically talking about that tabernacle,

  60. and he's also talking about the tabernacle of our body,

  61. because yes, we are going to in the future tents

  62. have this resurrection event. It is literally going to happen

  63. where we get how do you even describe that? I mean,

  64. we who are alive and remain, we get transformed. But

  65. what about the dead people's bodies?

  66. So, yeah, what's going to happen to those who have?

  67. You know, they've been eroded, they be and centuries now.

  68. But these opening versus says no, they that they still

  69. have their their their dwelling, their tent. So in that aspect,

  70. it's always been pretty prophetic to me, but very you know,

  71. it does have a very simple message about it when

  72. you just go to read it through, and you know,

  73. this is a real good chapter. Twenty one verses, so

  74. it's not too short, it's not too long, it's just

  75. right in there with This is really right along the

  76. lines of your perfect length of chapter and really simplistic.

  77. So I am going to read it through.

  78. We are absolutely going to read it through. I don't

  79. do it any other way.

  80. So we do we read it an increments, We read

  81. the whole thing through and then go through.

  82. Well you know, we'll we'll go back to what I

  83. normally do. We just need to let the spirit move.

  84. So if you go to read it and you get

  85. to a certain point and you think the Lord's wanting

  86. you to stop and com in on it. I think

  87. that's what we need to do. So are you going

  88. to be written? Why don't you go ahead and read

  89. it and let everybody know what you're reading it out of.

  90. Yeah, I'm reading from the nab r E or the

  91. New American Bible Revised Edition. I did a study. I

  92. did a test on a bunch of different Bibles, and

  93. it turned out that this one was the most literal,

  94. most reliable to the original text, which is rightly ironic

  95. because it's it was a Catholic translation that's been approved

  96. by the Vatican for her liturgy. So I'm using a

  97. Catholic Bible. But it turned out to be the best

  98. one that I could find.

  99. I got to the point.

  100. Where I was just so tired of using English Bibles

  101. because I knew it wasn't telling me the truth. So

  102. I got to a point where I just didn't I

  103. just carried my phone. I didn't want to have a

  104. paper Bible because my phone at least I can check

  105. what the Greek says. This is one that I can

  106. read with without having to look.

  107. So let's let's stop right there for just a minute.

  108. So you put together this chart of these verses that

  109. you would check. Are you going to publish that or what?

  110. Are you going to this list mus test? You send

  111. it to me and I looked at our We're so

  112. you are going to eventually publish that listmus test you've

  113. got going on?

  114. Yeah, okay, I.

  115. Hope to expanded to other translations as well. Uh, I

  116. was just using the translations that are available on Bible

  117. Hub not I know that Bible Gateway has a lot more,

  118. although it makes a little harder for you to compare

  119. all of the translations at the same time, but I

  120. would have to go in through and look at individually,

  121. but it's probably worth it. It turned out that the

  122. best translation was this one and the Smith's literal translation

  123. one out pretty fast. Technically, the Smith's literal translation was

  124. better and.

  125. It was more literal.

  126. However, it's it's older English, so it's not very understandable,

  127. so that's it was kind of the down downgrade of

  128. that and ultimately made this one when and you know,

  129. end up end out on top. For instance, you know

  130. that verse in Exodus that says that the staff turned

  131. into a dragon. Yes, the Smith's literal translation translates that

  132. as a dragon. But this translation was just as serpent

  133. as most do. So that was the one one of

  134. the big issues.

  135. That I had with it.

  136. But ultimately overall this ended up being more reliable, trustworthy

  137. in my opinion.

  138. So okay, all right, well, I will be giving commentary

  139. when I speak about it. I will be speaking from

  140. the new King James version, of course, So read away,

  141. go as far as you want to stop for commentary.

  142. If you don't feel like it, read right through. Just

  143. let the spirit move.

  144. I guess.

  145. But we know that if our earthly dwelling a tent,

  146. should be destroyed, we have a building from God, a

  147. dwelling not made with hands, eternal in heaven. For in

  148. this tent we grown longing to be further clothed with

  149. our heavenly habitation. If indeed, when we haven't taken it off,

  150. we shall not be found naked. For a while we

  151. are in this tent, we grown and are weighed down,

  152. because we do not wish to be unclothed, but to

  153. be further clothed, so that what it is mortal may

  154. be swallowed up by life. Now, the one who has

  155. prepared us for this very thing is God, who has

  156. given us the spirit as a first installment. So we

  157. are always courageous, although we know that while we are

  158. at home in the body, we are away from the Lord,

  159. for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yet we

  160. are courageous, and we would rather leave the body and

  161. go home to the Lord.

  162. Therefore we aspire to please Him, whither we are at

  163. home or away, For we must all appear before the

  164. judgment seed of Christ, so that each one may receive

  165. recompense according to what he did in the body, whether

  166. good or evil. Therefore, since we know the fear of

  167. the Lord, we try to persuade others.

  168. But we are.

  169. Clearly apparent to God, and I hope we are also

  170. apparent to our consciousness. We are not commending ourselves to

  171. you again, but giving you an opportunity to boast of us,

  172. so that you may have something to say to those

  173. who boast of external appearance rather than of the heart.

  174. For if we are of our minds, it is for God,

  175. for we are rational, it is for you. If we

  176. are rational, it is for you, for the love of

  177. God impels us. Once we have come to the conviction

  178. that one died for all, therefore all have died. He

  179. indeed died for all, so that those who live might

  180. not may no longer live for themselves, but for Him

  181. who for their sake died and was raised. Consequently, from

  182. now on we regard no one according to the flesh,

  183. even if we want new Christ according to the flesh.

  184. Yet now we know him no longer. So whoever is

  185. in Christ is a new creation. The old things have

  186. passed away, and behold, new things have come. And all

  187. this is from God, who has reconciled us to himself

  188. through Christ and given us the ministry of reconciliation. Namely,

  189. God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not

  190. counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the

  191. message of reconciliation. So we are ambassadors for Christ, as

  192. if God were appealing through us. We implore you, on

  193. behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God for our sake.

  194. He made him to be sin, who did not know sin,

  195. so that we might become the righteousness of God in him.

  196. Now this this is where the context is important, because

  197. he actually mentions that context in verse twelve. We are

  198. not commending ourselves to you again, but giving you an

  199. opportunity to boast of us, so that you may have

  200. something to say to those who boast of external appearance

  201. rather than of the heart. These people were. Among the

  202. things they were accusing Paul of was that he wasn't

  203. very well dressed, He wasn't very well articulated in the

  204. very there was a way of Greek argumentation that the

  205. philosophers would use. He wasn't using it when he was preaching.

  206. So they were looking down on him. They're saying, well,

  207. he's dumb, he doesn't know what he's he's uneducated, and like,

  208. why would you even listen to him? But they were

  209. boasting of outward appearance. They dressed very nicely, so obviously

  210. they looked better than Paul. So they were boasting of

  211. their outward appearance. And here they were pointing fingers at Paul,

  212. saying he was boasting of himself, when all they were

  213. doing was boasting of their appearance, of their own flesh.

  214. So again it says, consequently, from now on, we regard

  215. no one according to the flesh. Again, according to the flesh.

  216. It's referring to this outward appearance. And so he's saying,

  217. we are not commending ourselves to you again, but giving

  218. you an opportunity to boast about us. Now what are

  219. they boasting about? So he's saying, I'm not boasting of

  220. myself as of the flesh, as they're accusing me. I

  221. am boasting of what the spirit is done in me.

  222. I am no longer me because I have died with Christ. Basically,

  223. my individuality has been killed by Christ, so that now

  224. I am an extension of Christ as part of his body.

  225. Christ does his work through me. And that's why he says,

  226. you can boast of us, because you can see what

  227. Christ is doing through us. It's not me who does

  228. these miracles. It's Christ who does them through me. It

  229. is not me who preaches, but Christ who does them

  230. through me. So yeah, I'll pass it over to you

  231. before I say the next thing.

  232. That is evident your train of thought. There is evident

  233. in the simple fact that the doctrine from the Lord

  234. Jesus Christ to Nicodemus himself was you must be born again.

  235. And really that's what he's saying here. He's really saying

  236. that I have been born again and these jokers have

  237. not been born again. And he is saying that if

  238. you have been born again, you will be an extension

  239. of Christ. You will literally be a part of the

  240. Lord Jesus Christ body. You will be a body part

  241. in that body. And it's from this, this connection, in

  242. this heavenly connection wherein we did not only our authority,

  243. but it's where we get our ability to work the

  244. works of Christ. That's where we get the ability to

  245. do it right. So it's of paramount important that you

  246. realize this, that you do not continue acting and living

  247. the way you did before you obtain salvation. You just don't.

  248. You do not continue in your sin. No, I know,

  249. that's that's plain to the text when you read the

  250. New Testament. That's plain to the text. It's plain to

  251. the text. Yet the church today absolutely preaches against that.

  252. For some reason, they have become enamored with this free

  253. grace Antiinomian well heresy. I don't know what else to

  254. call it. I just watched a couple of videos this

  255. morning before I went to work. I mean, off the rails,

  256. these people literally saying that if you do, you know,

  257. even follow the minimum of the ten commandments, your heretics

  258. and it's just it just blew me away what they

  259. were saying.

  260. But tier in imagine them saying with heresy exactly.

  261. I mean it.

  262. You know, it would be like Jimmy Swagger calling somebody

  263. a heretic he got busted three times with prostitutes.

  264. This is what's really interesting to me. That a point

  265. that people don't really make, but once it hit me,

  266. it was very powerful. There are nominal adherents of every

  267. religion in the world. There are always these people who

  268. are only part of that religion because their family is,

  269. or because that's the thing with the culture, but they

  270. don't actually follow everything that their faith commands. But our

  271. faith is very distinct in this regard that of our creed,

  272. of the things that you must believe to be a Christian.

  273. There's also in that orthopraxy.

  274. You have to obey the.

  275. Teachings of Christ. You have to do what you can

  276. to you. So what's interesting is is that you are

  277. not a Christian if you are not regenerate, if you

  278. are not obeying his most basic teachings, like loving your

  279. neighbor as yourself, crucifying the flesh. If you're not, you

  280. are a heretic. You are not a Christian if you

  281. if you disobey his teachings, even if you confess the

  282. right things it's not good enough to me. That was

  283. very profound that if you do not obey, if there

  284. it doesn't come just with a confession.

  285. It's not just.

  286. About what you believe, it's about what you do. What

  287. you do, And I would actually go as far as

  288. say that what you do is more important than when

  289. you believe in our faith.

  290. Well you know, and I can absolutely, unequivocably attest to

  291. this because I have told you your whole life. I've

  292. informed you no matter where I went to church, there

  293. were always Christians there, did matter if there's Catholic church,

  294. didn't matter what church it was, Baptist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, there

  295. were always Christians there, right, and your mother will attest

  296. to that there was always Christians there. We would find them.

  297. So this attests to that that you must be born again.

  298. You will run across these people from every denomination. They've

  299. been born again, and they are by their nature. Let

  300. that sink in. They will buy their nature by their

  301. very nature, because they have been changed, not conform to

  302. those rules and regulation of that denomination. But yet they

  303. will stay because they've been born again. They do not

  304. practice the the practices of that church, but they will

  305. be there and they will be born again.

  306. Yeah.

  307. That's an interesting point to me because this is one

  308. of the things that you know, that has shaped my

  309. view of the Church. There are these Christianity is divided,

  310. and it's been divided for a long time, and they

  311. debate over these different theological issues and it seems like

  312. no one's coming to a solid answer. No, everyone is

  313. reading the same Bible, but somehow coming to different conclusions,

  314. and they get very dogmatic about it, some of them

  315. more so than others. When Christ asked us to be united,

  316. he begged the Father to keep us one, but it didn't.

  317. That's not what happened, unfortunately. And I think this is

  318. what after studying all this, I was like, there's no

  319. proof for any of these positions. All of them are

  320. saying it's a salvation issue, and yet Christ. This is

  321. what convinced me. Christ did not vindicate any of them.

  322. Christ could come down and tell us, yeah, the yeah,

  323. the Catholics are right that you know that the pope

  324. is the supreme authority of all the church.

  325. He didn't do that.

  326. Instead, he gave ample evidence for us to not agree

  327. with that. And so what I think is that he

  328. doesn't care God doesn't care about these squabbles. If he did,

  329. he would do something about it. Right, he didn't. Right,

  330. if he cares about salvation, Let's say this is a

  331. salvation issue, as many people say it is, then why

  332. didn't he clarify them? And I think it's because he

  333. doesn't care. What he does care about is whether you're regenerate,

  334. and that whether you're born again. Yes, right, and so

  335. I think that there's the evidence of that. As you said,

  336. you see, you see true regenerate Christians in every church,

  337. even though in you know, some churches have more problems

  338. than others, and so you could say there's a less

  339. of them because of those cultural issues. But there are

  340. still people there, and those are people that God didn't

  341. save through those creeds. He didn't say, He saved through

  342. his through his own self revelation.

  343. That's right, That is right. And if you don't see it,

  344. you can't see it. Verse seventeen. Therefore, if anyone is

  345. in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things

  346. have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. You

  347. stuff up living according to your natural carnal instincts. You

  348. start living according to the Holy Spirit granted unto you

  349. through the sacrifice of God the Son, you become born again.

  350. And unfortunately, here's the problem, erin. The problem is trying

  351. to get someone who has been born again accredited by

  352. a church. That's extremely difficult.

  353. Isn't it.

  354. Yeah, because it's very hard to because there's always deceivers.

  355. There's always people who can do and say all the

  356. right things, but they're just doing it for that fact,

  357. they're not actually truly believing it, So they're wolves in

  358. sheeps School. And I was thinking about that recently. I

  359. was thinking, like, like, if I as a minister, what

  360. could I do to make sure that my church never

  361. hires a wicked man or never has that and or

  362. they will never condemn a innocent man, or they would

  363. never acquit a guilty man who was in the ministry.

  364. Because I'm very strong in my opinion that that the

  365. ministry is the most that of course God is merciful,

  366. but I don't think, but I think there needs to

  367. be a higher level of strictness toward people who are

  368. in the ministry, Like if you commit adultery, that needs

  369. to be exposed or that or at least they need

  370. to like repent openly and they need to be open

  371. and honest to everyone, and they need to step down

  372. because what are the wicked going to say?

  373. What about what.

  374. Non believers going to say? They're going to say, this

  375. person was a representative of Christ and he did this.

  376. We have scripture for what God would have done. He

  377. took David's son, and he didn't take David's son to

  378. punish him because he didn't forgive him.

  379. We know this.

  380. He said he did it so that the nations.

  381. Wouldn't have a reason to mock.

  382. If God did nothing about David's adultery with Bathsheba, then

  383. the nations would have mocked God, and they would have

  384. accused God for what David did.

  385. Well, not just the nations themselves, the Prince is over

  386. those nations.

  387. Yeah, So that so that's one of my very strong

  388. opinions that you must be harsh with ministers because they

  389. represent Christ. And we see this so much clearly in

  390. my generation that many people I know were one of

  391. the great hindrances that they have to faith is that

  392. it doesn't seem that Christ is working in the church

  393. because so many pastors that are caught with horrendous crimes

  394. and so, I mean, I think the biggest issue is

  395. that you know, churches tend to they try to push

  396. it under the rug because ultimately Christ would be a shame.

  397. It would cause people to curse Christ if they saw

  398. what these people did. But it actually ends up being

  399. worse because when they are exposed, it shows that the

  400. church were willing to put it put it under the rug.

  401. So it actually is the more Christian thing to openly

  402. expose it. Anyway, back to what you said, like, how

  403. do you know, like how are you going to appoint

  404. someone who's actually converted? And I think that's going to

  405. take that takes time, and that takes time of you

  406. knowing this person, how they how they live out their faith.

  407. Honestly, I wouldn't. I wouldn't.

  408. I would care about people's confession initially, like what they

  409. they confess, what they believe, but then I would have

  410. to wait till to actually put those things into practice.

  411. Are you actually practicing what you preach? I would honestly

  412. force before anybody became a minister as part of my church,

  413. I would force them that they had to do a

  414. certain amount of community work. They would have to be

  415. working in homeless shelters and things like that.

  416. I know it would be a better ploy to do. Make

  417. them take a light detector test, Christian, you know, because

  418. we're we're way down the road, right, And I will

  419. say this, the board should conduct an investigation. Yeah they should.

  420. And I would just openly say before you we're going

  421. to hire you as our pastor, we're absolutely we must

  422. talk to every family member you got. You must give

  423. us references, and we are going to do a formal investigation.

  424. So if you don't give us our sources of security number,

  425. you can't be hired.

  426. But I think another issue is that I think that

  427. the people evaluating him need to be regenerate. It's kind

  428. of like right, so it's kind of like like the

  429. structure needs to be there in places, right of course.

  430. But so therein lies your problem, right, Okay, how many

  431. board members do you know of I'm not being facetious, Aaron.

  432. How many board members do you know of? Pick any

  433. church you want to. How many of those board members

  434. are actually born again? How many of them can be

  435. applied to verse seventeen they are a new creature? Sorry,

  436. I don't know any I don't have a problem saying

  437. that because, just like these verses said, I'm going to

  438. have to deal with christ recom That's what it said,

  439. That's what it meant.

  440. So I don't have a problem telling you the truth.

  441. So the most important thing, I would say that a

  442. church always needs to pray that they have at least

  443. one person with the gift of discernment.

  444. At least one but that cannot be Okay, let's ask

  445. a harder question. So you are assuming, or maybe you're

  446. not assuming, but I would say this, If a person

  447. is not regenerate, if they have not been born again,

  448. if they are not a new creature, what makes you

  449. think they have the gift of discernment?

  450. Ar, Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Specifically, Like if we

  451. are to like bare minimum, if if no law of

  452. the Church could could ever you know, show improve whether

  453. a person's truly regenerated, that every church should at least

  454. ask the Lord, should be in constant prayer that at

  455. least one of them is given the gift of discernment.

  456. That so that they have a regenerate Christian who has

  457. that gift of discernment to be able to tell who

  458. could be a good pastor.

  459. So okay, okay, so you're serious. I don't even know

  460. of a church that has a Wednesday night prayer meeting anymore.

  461. So you know of a church that has prayer meetings now,

  462. I mean, so you're just you're just saying that with

  463. tongue in cheek. Everybody should be praying about it. I

  464. was raised in a church like that. I know what

  465. it's like. And every Wednesday night, I assure you, I

  466. was at Wednesday night prayer meeting and that's what the

  467. meeting was for. Everybody prayed.

  468. That's literally, I think.

  469. So yeah, I think in what world are you talking?

  470. Yeah?

  471. I think to be honest, I think we would all

  472. agree with this. We have a whole lot of steeple

  473. houses and not a lot of churches. And I'm just saying, like,

  474. in practice, like if you have a true Body of Christ,

  475. a true church, then the board needs to have the board.

  476. Each member of the board would have one or more

  477. spiritual gift and they should be praying for it because

  478. it's a responsibility. I mean, it's I think one of

  479. the biggest problems in the church today is that people

  480. don't take it seriously enough. They don't take it, they

  481. don't take they don't take the ministry seriously enough. I mean,

  482. I one of the things things that haunted me when

  483. I left college is that the college that I graduated

  484. from just pumps out pastors. People who are younger than

  485. me were going straight into the ministry. And I realized

  486. it was because they had the charisma, and they had

  487. the charisma, and they had the connections people like, they.

  488. Like their family, their like, yeah, you mean the connections

  489. they had that.

  490. But the worry that I had is that I don't

  491. think that they lost sleep like I do over their

  492. own sin. I I am haunted by my sin, and

  493. I not just about I'm not saying about my past

  494. sin necessarily sometimes it is, but I'm talking about my

  495. fallen nature.

  496. It bothers me.

  497. I'm constantly testing whether I had the right intention about

  498. something that I said, something that I did, especially if

  499. I did something harsh or did I Was I wrong?

  500. And if I'm wrong, please show me? And I and

  501. I lose sleep over this I am. It weighs on

  502. my heart a lot, maybe too much. But I think

  503. that a true pastor would be worried about these things,

  504. that he would spend his life looking inwardly, searching himself,

  505. asking the Spirit to show him where he's wrong, or

  506. show him where he's not fully committed himself to Christ,

  507. because if that happens, that man will always hold himself

  508. accountable every time he's tempted. And that's the sort of

  509. man that I would want to be my pastor because

  510. he must be better than me. And I think I

  511. don't like. I don't say that with pride. In fact,

  512. I say it in humility because I know my failures,

  513. I know my errors, I know my flaws and some

  514. of them I don't know. And so if I am

  515. better than these other people because I know them, because

  516. I know my flaws and I hold myself accountable, that's

  517. an issue because I wouldn't put myself into a pastor's

  518. position right now in my life.

  519. At this point in my.

  520. Life, I need a pastor. So how can I have

  521. a man over me who's not who have more spiritual

  522. development than I do.

  523. That's a problem. Well, I think that perhaps, Well, I'm

  524. just going to I'm just going to say it plainly.

  525. I'm not going to be around the bush. Your sister

  526. struck a chord with me with the last drama at

  527. the last church we went to. I was shocked and amazed.

  528. It took me several days for me for what your

  529. sister said to me to sink in. She said, Daddy,

  530. it is a church, but it's not a congregation. And

  531. I think really that is the problem here. A church

  532. is a congregation, that's what it is, and that everyone

  533. must be promoted to pastor or this or that or

  534. the other in from within that body. Let's look at

  535. this physiologically speaking, any gathering of people is a complete

  536. body of Christ.

  537. Right.

  538. That tells you that the head of that localized body

  539. must be one of the body parts of that local body.

  540. Here in lies the problem. That is not how it's

  541. done today. No one promotes to pastor from inside their congregation.

  542. They have to go get somebody from somewhere else that

  543. has a license and a degree, from somebody else some

  544. remote location. That's the problem. Son. You gotta have a

  545. congregation first, and then that congregation must come to the decision.

  546. We got enough body parts here. We need to start

  547. a signing task. We need a right hand, we need

  548. the left hand, We need a lung, we need a

  549. left knee. We need a head. Whoever's the head, that's

  550. the pastor. So I think I think Mariah was just

  551. a stroke of genius. I mean, I literally had to

  552. ask her to repeat it over the next two or

  553. three days. She said, Daddy, it's not a church. They're

  554. not a church, Okay. A church is a congregation. They

  555. have a church, but there's no congregation there.

  556. Yeah.

  557. I mean we're seeing an issue within the English language

  558. that we are using the same word for two different things.

  559. The term church comes from the German form of the

  560. Greek curiakos, and curiakos was the word for the bill.

  561. It's the steeple house that I would call and for

  562. some reason in English and we started using that term

  563. also for the ecclesia, the ecclesia being the assembly literally

  564. in Greek, the gathering together of So this, this is

  565. the living body of Christ. It is the ecclesia, which

  566. we would translate as congrege congregation. Yes, the community even

  567. it's it's a living it's a living thing.

  568. Yeah, and that living thing has to get to the

  569. point where there's enough body parts. They elect themselves a pastor.

  570. You cannot have an external person be imported into that body.

  571. That makes it a foreign body.

  572. So so let's let's get let's move on a little

  573. bit if you'd like, Is there anything more you'd like, no.

  574. Go ahead, I'm good.

  575. So here he's.

  576. Talking about the resurrect we're going to be transformed. He

  577. says that the Holy Spirit is the first installment, and.

  578. Yes it does.

  579. This isn't the first.

  580. Time that this is used in the epistles, the Pauline epistles.

  581. It comes the word for installment here is in Greek

  582. are a bone, and it's actually the transliteration of a

  583. Hebrew bird. It literally means a pledge, a security, kind

  584. of like a down paint, kind of.

  585. Like a a dowry for marriage, or.

  586. Kind of like I would say, mostly like a down payment,

  587. I pay this much.

  588. And by that he's.

  589. Let me extrapolate in a hypersensitive way. Let's go back

  590. to Judah and Tamar. Judah said let me come into you,

  591. and she said, you need to give me something, and

  592. he gave her the staff. Remember he gave her the signet.

  593. YadA YadA, YadA, YadA YadA. Right, So that's what the

  594. Hebrew is talking about. There, give me something as a

  595. guarantee that you're going to, you know, send me this goat.

  596. You said you're just going to send me, right, So

  597. what it does is that we don't experience the resurrection

  598. in the flesh yet, but we do experience the resurrection

  599. and the spirit of the spirit.

  600. That's what you just said. That is what it means

  601. to be born again.

  602. Yes, But basically, regeneration is a promise for the thing

  603. to come right. It is the sign that God is

  604. promising us he will resurrect us. The fact that I

  605. am regenerate. Hopefully that I am that he's promising to

  606. me that I will also be raised up from the dead.

  607. But not only that, he's also using me as a

  608. witness to other people who have not been saved, that

  609. he's going to raise me up from the dead. He's

  610. going to raise the dead up. And I think that's

  611. what he's talking about. That this is why you're able

  612. to boast of us. We're talking about all the good,

  613. mighty deeds that we do through Christ, not so that

  614. you can put us up on a pedestal as great people,

  615. but so that you can boast of Christ, the work

  616. of Christ that he's doing through us. And that's what

  617. he's saying.

  618. We have died.

  619. We cannot boast of ourselves, of our own flesh. We

  620. cannot boast of the things that I've learned in college.

  621. We cannot boast of the things that of my outward appearance,

  622. whether I'm dressed nicely, whether I look attractive, whether I

  623. speak clearly, and I'm very very articulate in my words,

  624. which most of the time I'm not. Those things cannot

  625. be things to boast about because they're all of the

  626. things are meaningless. I am just a body part. I mean,

  627. that's like boasting of a hand above yourself. Right, They're like,

  628. it's not me, but my hand that's stronger than me. Like, look, right,

  629. I mean I've done Look look all the things that

  630. my hand has done. But no, when you think of

  631. yourself as a body part of Christ, then all the

  632. things that are boasted of you are boasting of Christ.

  633. And that is that's the point that they're making here.

  634. So it's kind of there's two facets of the resurrection

  635. and being born again that occurs and in our time,

  636. but it's just the promise of the thing to come.

  637. We are born again in spirit, but eventually our bodies

  638. will also be reconciled.

  639. To your right. So right now we've been born again

  640. in spirit. At the first resurrection, our bodies get reborn.

  641. So so let's talk about let's talk about the questions

  642. that you were having, the discussions that you were having

  643. theologically that opened up our.

  644. Debate.

  645. Here, are you healed of physical ailments of addiction? Are you?

  646. I mean you mentioned that you will not continue in

  647. sin once you're sin well, but we know that all

  648. of us are still sinners.

  649. Well, that there's two different types of addictions. There is

  650. physiological addictions and they're psychological addictions. So a physiological addiction

  651. is like an alcoholic right. Yeah, it is of paramount

  652. importance that people realize that once you've been born again,

  653. does that mean you'll be delivered from all physiological addictions?

  654. Does it mean you will be cured and healed, delivered

  655. from all psychological addictions?

  656. Well, I realized when we started this conversation that we

  657. had to answer another question because you are saying something

  658. that have been learning, but it wasn't what I was taught.

  659. When does the new birth occur? Does it occur at salvation,

  660. when you confess Christ's name, when you're baptized, or is

  661. it a separate event.

  662. That's the real cool crux, that's what has people all

  663. tied up, and it is grossly obvious. It is not

  664. at salvation, although it can be. It's not at baptism,

  665. although it can be. Normally for most people, this is

  666. a process, and I'm not sure why. I'm not sure

  667. why it is that there is this rampant thing in

  668. the church now that this idea of super sessionism, that

  669. the gifts of the Holy Spirit are stopped. There's no

  670. more miracles, there's no more healings.

  671. There are lots of things that are at issue here,

  672. but I want to point out because in my experience,

  673. most people who are part of this ministry or evangelicals.

  674. There are some exceptions, but for the most part, that

  675. is so right. And evangelicalism in the United States has

  676. been corrupted. It has been twisted over the generations, and

  677. it's very amalgamated. The Baptists are those who would say

  678. that salvation occurs at that the new birth occurs at salvation.

  679. But the Baptists they got it from the Methodists, and

  680. the Methodists don't say that. See John Wesley. When the

  681. Lord appointed John Wesley, he was teaching. When he said

  682. the new birth, he was speaking of entire sanctification, and

  683. so under the way he would describe it, I mean,

  684. this is clearly what the Bible teaches. But the way

  685. he would describe it is is that there is initial

  686. sanctification that occurs at salvation. So the Holy Spirit. We're

  687. given the Holy Spirit, right, so the Holy Spirit starts

  688. as work. At the new birth. We are completely reconformed

  689. to the image of Christ.

  690. We are made.

  691. It's basically, all our desire to sin is cut off,

  692. is cut off, and so we are completely reformed to

  693. the image of Christ.

  694. So that is to say, in our list of definitions,

  695. at new birth, you are delivered from all psychological addictions.

  696. From that point forward, you are not going to categorically

  697. plan to sin. You are not going to be able

  698. of your own volition to intentionally lie to your employer

  699. or lie to your neighbor. It's not gonna happen. You

  700. can't because because your conscience outweighs your desires to counter

  701. man the Holy Spirit's instructions.

  702. But I just want to.

  703. When we point this out, I think it should be

  704. a thing of encouragement to people, because when we're having

  705. this conversation, I don't know if anyone like me started

  706. feeling a little bit unlomferable because we started saying, well,

  707. I know I still struggle with sin. I know I'm

  708. still tempted. Well, so does that mean I'm not born again?

  709. And well, basically what we're saying is pretty much that, pretty.

  710. Much that outside of of course, of course, nobody expects

  711. you to be Jesus Christ. Okay, that is to say, Eric,

  712. what would happen if you're to go up and smack

  713. my wife across the face? What do you think would happen?

  714. Would I sin or not? I'd run you over like

  715. a truck. Do you understand after I did it? Of

  716. course I would have to repent of that sin. Okay,

  717. because what I should have done is a Christian is

  718. stopped you from assaulting her, got in between you, and

  719. then called the police. Right, That's what a Christian would

  720. have done. A Christian would not have I mean, because

  721. you must admit I would do more than assault you.

  722. By God, you wouldn't do it again. Right. So yeah,

  723. so I'm not Jesus Christ. So I'm still going to

  724. be tempted. You know what I'm saying. But I said planned,

  725. you're not going to plan? Who sin?

  726. Yeah?

  727. I think, but I think it's quite more than that.

  728. Like I think.

  729. I said that if you now still experience desire to sin,

  730. and of course in your heart you have the conviction

  731. you love Christ. But you know there's this inconsistency with

  732. you and your flesh. Look forward to the new birth.

  733. Look forward to it because He's promised it to you

  734. by giving you the spirit as a down payment. Because

  735. by giving you the spirit, he's promising to you, I

  736. will take these things from you. I will make it

  737. so that no longer you desire to sin. I think

  738. that most people still, most even of the most saintly Christians,

  739. they still have work to be done. The scripture teaches

  740. sanctification as a process. The Christian life is work. When

  741. you get up out of bed, you need to get

  742. to work, right, Yeah, you need to wake up when

  743. you wake up in the morning. It's like, Lord, is

  744. there anything that I haven't given fully to you in

  745. my heart?

  746. Right? That is to say, what you're trying to say

  747. is that you have to You have to exert force

  748. over your carnal nature. It literally has worked. You have to.

  749. You have to intentionally do it.

  750. You have to be at it every day because as

  751. soon as you don't, weeds will grow up.

  752. That's just how it works. Yeah, And like I.

  753. Can't tell you how many times pride has risen up

  754. where when I wasn't looking like it's it's it's astonishing

  755. so many times that has happened to me that I

  756. didn't do it intentionally, but it showed up and I

  757. was convicted by it. I had to I had to repent.

  758. I had to go back and change.

  759. But like.

  760. If you're not looking, if you're not intentionally looking for

  761. those things, they're going to miss your gaze. And the

  762. reason why it's not fear or guilt. And this is

  763. what the scriptures taught that the guilt has been taken

  764. from us on the cross, so no longer to our

  765. sins chain is down. Perhaps you may feel discouraged, Oh

  766. I sinned again, But no longer does that weight actually

  767. weigh upon us as our individual souls lays upon Christ

  768. on that crossed. So now instead work optimistically on yourself.

  769. When you see these things, it's kind of like when

  770. you're going to work out, right, I can't lift this

  771. weight yet, right, but that's why you keep going to

  772. the gym. Or I haven't lost the weight that I

  773. wanted to. I'm not losing it very fast. Perhaps that

  774. can make you feel discouraged. But you just keep going,

  775. keep going to the gym, keep going to the gym

  776. until you get to the point where you lose that

  777. weight because you can. It's literally physically and like the

  778. law that if you keep working at it, you're going

  779. to get there. You're going to get there if you

  780. keep on your diet, you keep on your work, you're

  781. going to get there. In the same way the Holy

  782. Spirit as long as you were working on it the Lord,

  783. as long as you let the Holy Spirit do what

  784. his work in your right, as long as you intentionally

  785. submit to him every day and crucify your flesh, then

  786. you will. The promise is there. Look at it this way.

  787. Okay, you just categorically said that our guilt has been

  788. taken from us and put on Christ right right. Put

  789. this into practical application physically. Lets use the laws of

  790. physics to apply this. When I do something, when I

  791. violate God's law, when I become unrighteous, that guilt being

  792. placed upon Christ, it exerts pressure on him. The counter

  793. balance to that is the Holy Spirit is then triggered.

  794. From that applied weight to Christ, It's transferred to me

  795. via the Holy Spirit, and my conscience will ring like

  796. a bell. As long as I adhere to that equation,

  797. and remember that I cannot continue to put this guilt

  798. on Christ, you will eventually be able to overcome that

  799. particular sin. Let's say that particular sin is drinking bubblers.

  800. Given enough time in this dynamic, as you're struggling to

  801. take that guilt off of Christ via the Holy Spirit

  802. triggering you via your conscience, it will eventually happen. It's

  803. not instantaneous.

  804. And I would the way that John West described entire sanctification.

  805. It doesn't mean you're perfect when they say, a lot

  806. of people like to call it Christian perfection. He didn't

  807. like that expression, but what he said was, it's when

  808. your love is made perfect. And this is what we

  809. find in the epistles of John It's when you love

  810. him so much, so perfectly, that you wouldn't want to sin.

  811. I sinning is in a sense, backstabbing God. When you

  812. say you love him, but out of the other side

  813. of your mouth.

  814. You're going behind his back, right, You're lying on the

  815. other side of your mouth.

  816. Right, And so my love isn't I can admit as

  817. a Christian, I do not love him enough. I do

  818. not have a perfect love. And so even though I wish,

  819. I wish that I did have a perfect love, that

  820. should not be an aspect of guilt. That should be

  821. something that I look forward to because He is promised

  822. to fulfill that in me, and that he will perfect

  823. my love. Because once your love is perfect, you will

  824. obey his commandments as it is written. If you love me,

  825. you would keep my commandments. And so when we get

  826. to that state of perfect love, we will no longer

  827. do these things, because not because the law said no,

  828. but because the law had been written on our hearts,

  829. and our heart would no longer want them. That's what

  830. the Kingdom of Heaven has to look like. Being a

  831. Christian isn't a list of things you have to do,

  832. like I didn't do this, I didn't do this, I

  833. didn't do this, I did this, I did this, I

  834. did this. No, it wasn't good enough. That's what Christ taught.

  835. He told the Pharisees it wasn't good enough not to

  836. commit adultery, because even if you desire to commit adultery,

  837. then you've committed adultery in your.

  838. Heart right and your heart. So let me say this,

  839. I think you can reduce this down. What total sanctification

  840. is is Revelation, chapter twelve, verse eleven. And they overcame

  841. him by the blood of the lamb and by the

  842. word of their testimony. And they did not love their

  843. lives to the death. I think in this phrase they

  844. did not love their lives unto death. However, your translation

  845. says it. That's what it is. It's when you cross

  846. over between having selfish intentions to having perfect intentions. It

  847. is your perfect intention to fulfill the will of God.

  848. And it's at that point when you would rather die.

  849. You'd rather die than stab God in the back. As

  850. you're using your own phraseology you did a few minutes ago.

  851. I think that's where it's at. I think that's what

  852. it is. I think once you cross that threshold and

  853. obtain this perfect intentions is when you're entirely sanctified, and

  854. at that point you do not love your life under death.

  855. I figured out that the church, the Conservative Church specifically,

  856. has gotten to the point where they've set up a

  857. law of ordinances. Oh yeah that, Oh yeah, you can't

  858. do this. You can't do this. If you wear this,

  859. then then you're this. If you listen to this, you're this.

  860. Do you like like you like, literally, there are people

  861. out there who believe that you get demons from listening

  862. to uh, the heavy metal music doesn't matter if it's

  863. Christian heavy metal, it's it's literally, if you listening to

  864. heavy metal, you get a demon.

  865. And definitely we need to do another another program on that.

  866. We definitely do.

  867. Is it is.

  868. It watching horror movies? Can I if I'm sitting there

  869. watching is it a sin for me to sit there

  870. and watch you know, I don't know the Woman in

  871. Black or the Conjuring? Do I get demons from that?

  872. Am I sitting against God by watching these things? And

  873. and they've made this law. Oh so the thing that

  874. irony is is that they've made this law so that

  875. they can obey it the non regenerate. This is actually

  876. how the most wicked of people have infiltrated the church

  877. because they've checked off that.

  878. List, they check off this list, and then all of

  879. a sudden they're qualified to be your pastor no, no

  880. you're not, you must be again.

  881. I like using this example because it's one of our

  882. worst in our day, and it was it really enraged

  883. me when I was in the apologetics community on TikTok

  884. that you may have heard of Ravi Zacharias. Ravi Zacharias

  885. was all loved by the church. Like most people thought

  886. he was the greatest Christian ever by the way that

  887. he conducted himself in person. If you were to come

  888. and and speak to him, he would say the most

  889. Christian things you've ever heard of. He would even have

  890. the most Christian tone you ever heard of. He said

  891. all the right things. You know, he's not sitting there

  892. listening to heavy metal. He's not listening. He's not listening.

  893. He's not saying curse words. He's not He's got all

  894. the checklist. Yeah, but when you weren't looking, he was

  895. raping women.

  896. And we know this.

  897. We know this for a fact because his own institution

  898. that he set up, the Ravi Zacharias Foundation, investigated and they.

  899. Proved it he did it.

  900. But while he was alive, While he was alive, there

  901. were women who came out and confessing like, this guy

  902. raped this woman, this guy assaulted me. But nobody believed

  903. them because why did they not believe them? Because he

  904. had the checklist. He hadn't filled out the checklist. And

  905. to this day there are people who still defend him.

  906. Even though his own his own foundation, admitted it. They

  907. still defend him, and this is a plague in the

  908. church because of that. They've made a law. But here's

  909. the thing. If you read the New Testament, it is

  910. that law that leads you to sin. Because the law

  911. said thou shalt not cove it, then.

  912. Sin.

  913. My flesh, seeing an opportunity in the law, killed me

  914. because of it. And that's why we see in the

  915. New Testament that the law expressed in ordinances have been abolished,

  916. and the law of Christ has been established in our hearts,

  917. so that you can't be sanctified from the down up.

  918. You can't be sanctified by doing the works right. Your

  919. heart needs to be fixed. That's why when it speaks

  920. that your heart needs to be circumcised, your heart needs

  921. to be circumcised. And these are all images that are

  922. applied to the new birth. The law written on your heart,

  923. the circumcised heart, putting to death, the flesh having a

  924. perfect love. All these things are basically saying that your

  925. intentions obey the law.

  926. That's what I said. You have perfect conventions.

  927. So that is not just you choosing as if there's

  928. an A and a B there you're going to want good,

  929. so you're always going to choose what it's good. This

  930. is Praise be to God. Let's take a moment to

  931. praise him, thank him for this.

  932. Amen.

  933. Because at this point, man no longer will be desire

  934. some We will want to do good and we will

  935. feel pleasure in it every time.

  936. Well, son, this is why I've taught you your life

  937. that every decision is a moral decision. I've never went

  938. to left or right of that. I've always stated that

  939. every decision is a moral decision. Many people don't understand that.

  940. That's how I've always lived in my life. For example,

  941. all right, when I had the choice of what color

  942. our house would be, I chose white. And I chose

  943. white because that was a moral decision because it is

  944. that color in that climate that we lived in, was

  945. best for that climate because white would reflect and conduct

  946. the least amount of heat. So that's why you lived

  947. in a white house, Son, That's why, because in that climate,

  948. that's what it should be. In this house. I would

  949. not have this house be white, would I know? Because

  950. here we have our first freeze the first week of October.

  951. We experienced our last freeze the third week of May.

  952. So if I was to choose the color of our house,

  953. I would naturally choose the darkest color possible to augment

  954. and encourage as much heat transfer as possible. Literally, And

  955. you can ask your mother this. Every decision you can

  956. ask her, she will tell you your dad. Every decision

  957. to me is a moral decision, every single one.

  958. That's yeah.

  959. One of the reasons why I didn't vote last year

  960. is because I didn't know. I didn't know, I didn't

  961. know who is who is right, and I would I will.

  962. I was afraid that if I had, I had, if

  963. I had been wrong about one of them, I thought

  964. that I was choosing a lesser of two evils. And

  965. there wasn't anything that's not such things. There's no such

  966. there is no lesser too. And so ultimately, if you

  967. put your put your lots into it, you kind of are, yes,

  968. you are, yet you're going to be partially responsible for

  969. what was brought about. And I couldn't even if I,

  970. let's say I was indirectly responsible for what came from

  971. it because I didn't vote, that would be better for me,

  972. because I didn't do something like put my lots in

  973. so that it actually assigned to me like legally I

  974. don't know. I'm not accusing anyone who voted, because that

  975. was your conscience, right. My conscience didn't let me well, and.

  976. So I don't vote. I mean, and I've always told

  977. you why I'm not. I'm not casting my lot with

  978. the wicked first, I'm not going to do it.

  979. So anyway, like what you said, like every decision is

  980. a moral decision, and I I I think we should

  981. read a little bit from Romans chapter seven.

  982. Okay, I'm gang. If you're a gang, how much time

  983. do we have left? H all the time in the world.

  984. I mean, my record seven hours, thirty eight minutes. So

  985. go for it.

  986. I'm going to start with verse seven. What then, can

  987. we say that the law is sin? Of course not yet.

  988. I did not know sin except through the law. I

  989. did not know what it is to cove it, except

  990. that the law said you shall not covet.

  991. But sin.

  992. Finding an opportunity in the commandment produced in me every

  993. kind of convedousness. Apart from the law.

  994. Sin is dead.

  995. I once lived outside the law, but when the commandment came,

  996. sin became alive. And then I died, and the commandment

  997. that was for life turned out to be death. For me,

  998. for sin seizing an opportunity, and the commandment deceived me

  999. and through it put me to death. So then the

1000. law is holy, and the Commandment is holy and righteous

1001. and good. But the good, then, the good then become

1002. death for me, of course, not sin, in order that

1003. it might be shown to beastin work, death in me

1004. through the good, so that the sin might become sinful

1005. beyond measure through the commandment. We know that the law

1006. is spiritual, but I am carnal sold them to slavery,

  1007. to sin.

  1008. What do I do?

1009. What I do I do not understand, For I do

1010. not do what I want, but I do what I hate.

1011. Now I do what is what I do not want.

1012. I concur that the law is good. So now it

1013. is no longer I who do it, but Sin, who

1014. dwells in me. For I know that good does not

1015. dwell in me, that is in my flesh. The willing

1016. is ready at hand. But doing the good is not.

1017. For I do not do the good I want, but

1018. I do the evil I do not want. For I

1019. do what I do not want. It is no longer

1020. I who do it, but Sin, who dwells in me.

1021. So then I discover the principle that when I want

1022. to do right evil, it is at hand. For I

1023. take delight in the law of God in my inner self,

1024. but I see the members. But I see in my

1025. members another principle at war with the law of my mind,

1026. making me capable captive to the law of sin that

1027. dwells in my members. Miserable one that I am, who

1028. will deliver me from this mortal body, Thanks be to

1029. God through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Therefore, on myself, with

1030. my mind, serve the law of God, but with my

1031. flesh the law of sin. So I don't think this

1032. is a wrong ext of Jesus to admit. Paul is

1033. basically admitting that he is not achieved entire certification at

1034. this point. He does confess this in another verse he says,

1035. I'm still running the rest.

  1036. I'm not there yet.

1037. But in the Epistles of Timothy, I don't know the

1038. exact verse, he does say I finally got there. I

1039. finally finished the race. So he did reach entire sanctification,

1040. but he didn't have it at this point, And what

1041. he's saying is that at the time his body was

1042. still enslaved to the law of sin. What he said,

1043. I am still enslaved to the law. He's talking about

1044. his flesh because there's no longer a meat, right that

1045. it was just Christ living in me. So when it's

1046. the law of my mind, that's actually Christ or what's

1047. united to Christ. But my body is what you would

1048. call the eye, that thing that separates us from Him.

  1049. And so.

1050. What's important here is that it's saying that the law

1051. was taking an opportunity in the sin. Before I knew

1052. that it was a sin to covet, right, I didn't

1053. know to covet it was an a sindy. I wouldn't

1054. have thought to take from the cookie jar unless if

1055. I knew there was a cookie jar to take from,

1056. that's right, or whether I knew it was wrong to

1057. take from the cookie jar. And this is very common

  1058. aspect of human psychology.

1059. And most of those things you were taught by your

1060. mom and I right, Yeah, you just can't take from

  1061. the cookie jar.

1062. Statistically, you may be shocked to hear this, but statistically

1063. Christians struggle with pornography more than non believers do. Think

1064. about that people who are out there having sex outside

1065. of marriage are struggling with it less than Christians. People

1066. out there who don't think it's wrong to look at pornography,

1067. don't look at it. And I think it is this

1068. principle in action, my friends.

1069. That's crazy that it was because there was a law.

1070. It was a law. It was a Christian law that

1071. our church is established that it's do not look at pornography,

1072. and that so long as you do this, then you're

  1073. a Christian.

  1074. Or you don't do this, you're a Christian.

1075. Right And because then, because it was viewed that way,

1076. I think that it became a law to too many

1077. Christians and they stumbled. And you need to look further

1078. than that. It's not just Lord, don't let me look

1079. at pornography any more. It's Lord, take away this desire

1080. for me, change me right. And that's the sort of

1081. thing that it is with alsin that we all need

1082. to get to a point where we are free from that.

  1083. Sin thrives on.

1084. The law right. It is the medium in which it

1085. grows right because it has the opportunity by knowledge of it.

1086. This is why Adam fell by eating from the tree

1087. of knowledge of good and evil. When it says that

1088. the knowledge of good and evil, that's not wrong. It

1089. wasn't wrong to know good and evil. We know this

1090. because literally, God gave the knowledge of good and evil

1091. to Solomon right when he asked for it. If you

1092. look at the language, that's quite literally what it says.

1093. And what happened was is that Adam was not ready.

1094. He was not ready to receive the knowledge of good

1095. and evil. That's why it became death to him. Because

1096. once you know good and evil, you better have the

1097. spiritual strength to say no, to resist it.

  1098. And he did not.

1099. He didn't have the spiritual growth prior to know, to

1100. have his love perfected in such a way that he

1101. wouldn't desire evil when he knew that it was there. Right.

1102. That is to say, he never knew that chocolate ice

1103. cream was good. He acquired the knowledge, Hey, chocolate ice

1104. cream is the bomb, but you can't eat it, right,

1105. And he only wanted to eat it once he gained

1106. the knowledge that he shouldn't eat it because there is

1107. no good thing there. It's full of high frucdose corn syrup.

1108. Its YadA, YadA, YadA, YadA, YadA. It is bad for

1109. you or fact. Whatever God didn't make with his own hands,

1110. be well rest assured it's bad for you. Because if

1111. you think that Cargill or Tyson, or or you know,

1112. General Mills, if you think they have your best intentions

1113. at heart, you're grossly mistaken.

1114. Here's the most important thing that I learned from these passages,

1115. and it has helped me throughout my Christian life, and

1116. I think that every Christian should put it into practice

1117. that when you want sin, remember this is no longer.

  1118. I who want it.

1119. It is your flesh who wants it, because your flesh

1120. is enslaved to sin. Now, through Christ, you have been divided.

1121. Your flesh has been put to death, and your spirit

1122. has become alive. Now, remember you need to be able

1123. to say this, I want I want to be happy,

1124. I want to feel peace, I want to feel pleasure.

1125. I want all these things which are all good because

1126. God gave them to us. But the flesh wants to

1127. fulfill those things, gratify those things in sinful ways. And

1128. so as long as you understand that that you want

1129. what is good, but your flesh wants to twist that

1130. for evil, then you have the tools to go forward

1131. to say, is my flesh who is trying to convince

1132. me right instead of your spirit right? So when we

1133. walk by the spirit. That's what's happening. We're walking by

1134. what We're not walking by our flesh, by the desires

1135. of our flesh. The most important thing here, the promise

1136. of entire sientification, the entire promise of it, is that

1137. we will get to the point where we will understand

1138. fully our spirit. There will be no inconsistently in our hearts.

1139. We will know fully that we will find pleasure and

  1140. no evil.

1141. Right, yeah, you, And that's what I was trying to

1142. say before. Once you commit evil, you cannot find pleasure

1143. in it. The Holy Spirit, be it that guilt you've

1144. put on Christ. That'll be the last thing on earth

1145. you'll be able to do is take pleasure in it.

1146. Your conscience will haunt you because the Holy Spirit will

1147. be constantly reminding you, will be ringing you like a bell.

1148. You just put this guilt on Christ, and you dead

1149. bang will not be able to enjoy it.

1150. I think that's another problem with a lot of Christians,

1151. was that they when they send they don't realize it's

1152. kind of like betraying your closest friend.

  1153. It's like crucifying Christ.

1154. Again, do you think of it the same way? Do

1155. you think of it the same way as like, do

1156. you feel the same sort of hindrance in your heart?

1157. I better not lie? I better not cheat on my acts?

1158. As the same way do you think the same way

1159. as when you say I better not.

1160. Cheat on my wife? I do.

1161. I don't know everyone should because if you if in

1162. your heart, you don't, because in your in your mind,

1163. what are you thinking? I not only do you have

1164. a law, not only do you have you made a

1165. sworn an oath, but you've also you don't want to

1166. hurt this person that you love, right, is that you

1167. love them so deeply that you would not betray them

1168. in such a way. In the same way, that's what

1169. entire sanctification is, you will In a sense, you are

1170. doing the same thing to the Lord because it's a

1171. relational thing. Christ has a relationship with us, so betrayal

1172. to him is emotional, It is personal because you promised

1173. him this, I will do whatever you ask. I love

1174. you perfectly by obeying your commandments, but you didn't. And

1175. when you come to him in apology, you're restoring a relationship.

1176. You're saying I betrayed you, right, please forgive me. And

1177. as if we an'll think if in that way, then

1178. I think it's easier to manage well.

1179. To me, I think that a lot of people, especially

1180. when I went to when I entered the university, I

1181. encountered something that well, I encountered many things I was expecting.

  1182. I mean those people, I mean I didn't understand these people,

1183. even though I was living in the dormitory where all

1184. the Christian ministry may just we was so it was

1185. literally in the dorm living with all the soon to

1186. be preachers, right, they were not on my page. They

1187. obviously did not even have an elementary understanding of the

1188. simple fact that there are no degrees of sin. And

1189. I was just in the state of shopland. Finally, I

1190. will remember it crystal clear when Tony came to me,

1191. one of my friends, Tony came to me, and he's like,

1192. am I to understand you correctly that you think that

1193. stealing is just as bad as murder? I said, absolutely,

1194. because God will send your butt to ll for either offense.

  1195. It isn't offense. There isn't there isn't degrees. And I said,

1196. until you know that, Tony, until you know that, you're

1197. never going to think that stealing bubble gum is a sin.

1198. You're only going to think that, like abortion is a sin,

1199. so you can steal all the gum, all the bubble

1200. gum you want, and never never come under condemnation. And

1201. once I did this to him. Once, once I told

1202. that to him, I mean over the next several months,

1203. he had to work it out. And finally he's like, well,

1204. you're right, that's what my problem is. I've been committing

1205. all these sins and I'm not feeling convicted for it.

1206. I said, well, of course you have, because you have

1207. built up a callous toward the Holy Spirit himself. You're

1208. practicing lawlessness. Guess what you're gonna get good at, Tony.

1209. And he just stood there, looked at me this dumb

1210. look on his face. Well, I'm going to become an

1211. expert at what I practice. Yeah, Tony, But I think

1212. here again we have this checkless Christianity.

1213. Here, here's one of the more and interesting things that

1214. I'm learning about sin because i'm studying it. I'm studying

1215. it not just by reading the Bible, but by studying

1216. the cultures in which it's written. So I'm looking at

1217. the context of the language then speaking, and all that

1218. sin was more than just a moral offense. It was

1219. simply anything that separated you from God. So when so

1220. people tend to think that there's some kind of substitution

1221. happening when they were performing the sacrifice, that this animal

1222. was dying so that the person didn't have to die.

1223. But no, really, what was happening is that the blood

1224. expiated the sin so that people were able to enter

1225. into the Holy Place. So that people could enter into

1226. the temple, the temple had only maintained its holiness through

1227. the shedding of blood. This is why I mean, if

1228. you think that it's it's a sort of substitution, then

1229. tactically a woman had to do a sin offering. Literally,

1230. if she had she gave birth to a baby, so

1231. had the sin for her to have a baby like

1232. a moral offense. Well, no, but it was something, but

1233. it was uncleanliness. It was impurity in another sense that

1234. made it so that if she entered into the Holy Place,

1235. it would defile it. So by the blood it was undefiled.

1236. In other terms, sin is that state of being in

1237. impurity that you cannot enter into the Holy Place as

1238. long as you're impeer. So with that stated, personally, I

1239. think it's true that rape is more, is much worse

1240. than stealing, but both of them separate you from Christ.

1241. Apart from Christ is death.

  1242. Yes, and.

1243. So when you're stealing, you become apart from Christ and

1244. you enter into that world of death. There's capital as

1245. sin and lowercase sin. So there's sin, which is that

1246. state of being apart from Him, and then there's sins,

1247. which is the individual things that you do to right

1248. that's what gets you separated from Him. And so you

1249. want to be at a point where no longer are

1250. you defiling yourself. You are no longer defiling yourself because

  1251. your heart is undefiled.

1252. You're not voluntarily sin, You're not intentionally sinning. That's what

1253. you just said in a different way. That is how

1254. you keep from violating yourself.

1255. So it is that intention, like that language that you're

1256. saying that you're not intentionally saying. Your intention must be converted.

1257. You have perfect intentions, that's what John Wesley was trying

1258. to say. You have been entirely sanctified when you have

  1259. perfect intentions.

  1260. Yes, so.

1261. We do have to answer a question here of from Jony.

1262. Doesn't the word say there is one head Christ, Jesus,

1263. not a pastor, which is which is true.

  1264. I had thought that.

1265. I thought that when he said it, I was thinking

1266. in my head, here, I'll go on a very short

1267. diatribe about ecclesiology. In the time of the New Testament,

1268. they didn't have such thing as pastors. They had a

1269. group called the president or the elders, so we would

1270. now call the board right right, And very quickly after

1271. the apostles died, the church was like, hey, we need

  1272. somebody who's over who's the final word. He's like, he's

1273. a little bit above the group of presbyters, and they

1274. ended up calling him the overseer or bishop, which now

1275. we would actually call a pastor. It's not identical to

1276. what the Catholics call a bishop. But he was the

1277. overseer who was above them. So actually he rose up

  1278. out of necessity.

1279. I just said this at the beginning of this program.

  1280. But it's true that there's a person who in a

1281. sense takes a leading position over the body. What is

1282. he doing? I would say this much you say there's

1283. only one head over the church, that is Christ. That's

1284. also true. But he also, in the same context says

1285. that a husband is ahead of his wife in the

1286. same way that the Christ is the head of the church. Right,

1287. So if we speak of the church as referring to

1288. the body to like the church at large, like the

1289. upper the ecclesia upper case. So this is all the congregations. Yeah,

1290. Christ is the head of that right right ultimately, But

1291. has he appointed his heads over the individual congregation.

1292. That's another question. Well, what she's trying to get at

1293. is the word the pastor in the New Testament. It's

1294. not just in one verse and it's just not translated pastor.

1295. One time that word is the word for shepherd. Okay,

1296. So the New American Standard or the new King James

1297. version has it in if it is in chapter four,

1298. verse eleven, and it said and he gave himself some

1299. to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and

1300. teachers their pastor. This time it's not translated shepherd. This

1301. one time, it's translated past her. That word is shepherd.

  1302. It's shepherd.

  1303. Yeah.

1304. So so in this sense, this is not talking about

1305. a physical body with arms and legs. This is what

  1306. it's talking about is a flock. A ecclesia is a flock,

1307. and over that flock is one shepherd that you hearkened.

1308. To, yeah, there there there's a church, and then there's

1309. churches right, right, we're talking about the body of Christ

1310. at large. That's that's the great ecclesia, the great ecclesia.

1311. When we're reading in Revelation, for example, there are seven churches, right,

1312. and so we're talking about like small.

  1313. Uh.

1314. The body of Christ is churches within a church, local

1315. flocks or congregations within a congregation. So ultimately I am

1316. united with a church that I don't even know about.

1317. I'm united with other another body of Christian believers in Africa,

1318. right trillions. Yet, So I think that that's how I

1319. would respond to what you said, Joni, because certainly they're

1320. kind of acting like heads, hopefully because they are fully

1321. submitted to Christ. And no longer is an I who

1322. do it but Christ than me? Right, so they ought

1323. to be that they better be.

1324. But ultimately, I'm going to say the thing what this

1325. is talking about in the Physions, chapter four, verse eleven,

1326. you already have the congregation, and inside that congregation is

1327. not somebody from another state that gets a degree that

1328. comes to your your congregation. Inside that congregation you have

1329. some that's apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors, and

1330. some teachers for the equipping of the saints, for the

1331. equipping of that congregation. All right, when he ended there

1332. had a blast, how about you good stuff, good stuff,

1333. good stuff to talk about and just hammer it out.

1334. It's good to just hammer it out.

  1335. That really is.

1336. All right. With that in mind, I'm gonna have to

1337. pray us out of here. So I'm thinking the Lord's preton.

1338. I don't know. I could be wrong. Our Father, which

1339. are in heaven, follow you be your name, Thy kingdom come,

1340. and thy will be done on earth as it is

1341. in heaven. Give us this day or daily bread. Forgive

1342. us our trustpasses, as we give those who trespassed against us.

1343. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

1344. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the

1345. glory Forever ah Man till next time, ladies and gentlemen,

  1346. God bless, God speed.
