We're gonna have a living room conversation.
-
So here's the rules of engagement.
-
I need everybody to take notes, whether it's digitally on
-
your phone or physically in a notepad.
-
How many of you are notetakers and learners?
-
And.
-
Okay, so I need you to take notes because you're gonna be given
-
so much wisdom.
-
And then also I need you to just lock in.
-
Tell your neighbor.
-
Lock in now.
-
Tell the other neighbor you ignored.
-
Lock in.
-
Okay, Lock in.
-
This is gonna help you tremendously.
-
And let me just say the little backstory here.
-
So you basically started attending V1 church, and I started
-
to become aware that you have many different giftings.
-
One of them is in the area of finances.
-
And you started to basically get commissioned to go help the people
-
of our church with budgeting and with finances and biblical principles.
-
As a matter of fact, we were preparing for this Sunday, and I
-
was talking to our entire staff across the nation, and one
-
of them literally said, pastor Mike, I don't wanna cut you off,
-
but I just have to tell you how excited I am for Pastor Randall
-
to be on stage.
-
Because she said.
-
And she's on staff in Indiana.
-
So this is 1,000 miles away at our Indiana location.
-
She said, my husband and I had been working careers and making money
-
for years and years and years, but we were always in bondage.
-
We had debt.
-
It just felt like we never had enough money.
-
And they went through your course through V1 Church, and you
-
discipled them.
-
And she said that they experienced massive breakthrough
-
in their finances.
-
And then she said, we kept getting so many raises and so many
-
increases in our finances that we had to keep increasing our tithe
-
to the local church.
-
And she attributed it to the anointing and the gifting and the
-
wisdom of this man.
-
So how many of you are saying, I'm next.
-
I'm next.
-
I'm next.
-
Come on.
-
I'm next.
-
Here in Brooklyn, they're like, I'm next, Lord.
-
And so, Pastor Randall, the question I wanna ask you just to
-
jump this thing off, is you've sat with, I mean, probably hundreds
-
of people of our church across all locations, and, you know, I feel
-
like showing somebody your finances is like getting naked in
-
front of each other.
-
It's like going into the locker room, you know, it's like,
-
you know.
-
Cause that's something you don't do.
-
Was that weird?
-
But seriously, I mean, finances are just.
-
It's something where it's, like, ambiguous and you don't know.
-
And it's.
-
You know, how fat is Pastor Mike?
-
You Know, like, I know he wears a lot of jackets.
-
You know, it's like finances feel like that.
-
You know, I think he has money.
-
I think I saw, you know, a watch.
-
I think I saw.
-
Look.
-
And we always try to pick up on the clues of what could be underneath
-
the clothes.
-
And so, in the same way, you are one of the few people where you
-
have legitimately seen hundreds of people's bank accounts
-
and their finances, and you have a lot of.
-
So the first question I want to ask you as we get into this biblical
-
wisdom is what are the top excuses?
-
Or, okay, let me keep it a buck.
-
What are the top lies that people tell you when you meet with
-
them?
-
I'll tell you this.
-
Well, first of all, I want to say thank you, Apostle Mike, for
-
just.
-
We have one of the best leaders ever for this semester in
-
our lives.
-
Like, y'all need to clap it up higher than that.
-
Like, come on.
-
Thank you.
-
Thank you.
-
Just going to say it because I am the man that I am.
-
My wife is the woman that she is.
-
Many of us, many of you that are watching that are online, that
-
are sitting right here, you are who you are because of this man
-
toiling, because of the nights where he was probably not laying
-
next to Pastor Julie, who is a phenomenal woman of God as well.
-
Right?
-
But then he was actually praying, right?
-
He was actually figuring out some things for us.
-
And I just want to thank you so much for being the man of God
-
that you are.
-
And if you're not who you want to be just yet, that's on you.
-
I'm just going to say, all right, I'm going to leave.
-
I'm going to leave here in a little while, so if I mess things
-
up, Pastor Jocelyn and Pastor Eddie could figure it out.
-
But one of the excuses.
-
Can I just give you one?
-
Because the one.
-
I'll tell you this, the one excuse that I hear, and I think many
-
of us can say this, is, I don't have enough money.
-
I don't have enough.
-
I need another job because it's just not paying me enough.
-
I need to find another side hustle, because this job right here
-
just isn't enough.
-
And when I go into your finances and when I've gone into
-
the multiple people's finances, I will see that there is
-
more than enough.
-
And I'll tell you how I know this, because I've actually, me,
-
myself, I remember my wife and I, we were.
-
When we first started getting our finances in order, I remember
-
calling her up one day because I was just like, man, why does it.
-
I'm making 60,000.
-
She's making a lot more than me and stuff like that.
-
And that was a.
-
I went through a deliverance for that.
-
Because, you know, as.
-
As.
-
Listen, men do not.
-
Men that are watching.
-
If you're in Miami, okay, I'm coming for you.
-
Miami, all right?
-
Wherever you are, I want you to know your wife making more than
-
you should not make you feel belittled.
-
You are all bringing in money together.
-
And so at the end of the day, the money is coming into one pot.
-
And if you're over here fussing and figuring out what other
-
job can I get, so that way I can make more than her, and this
-
might be a secret thing that you're dealing with, well, I want
-
to let you know that that is not a secret anymore.
-
I see you, and I want to call you up to stop focusing on that and
-
focus on the money that's actually coming in.
-
And then you'll realize that there is more than enough.
-
All right?
-
But anyway, that wasn't where I was supposed to go, but it was
-
necessary.
-
All right?
-
But I will go through people's finances, and I'll see that there's
-
more than enough.
-
And I remember looking at my finances, and I was like.
-
I called my wife up.
-
I was like, mary, Babe, we are making enough to pay off all our
-
expenses.
-
Then we have an extra $2,000 left every month.
-
She's like, what?
-
I was like, yeah, where is it going?
-
And we had no idea where that money was going.
-
No idea.
-
And that's where I was just like, I've got to get better with
-
my finances.
-
And in a couple, like, year.
-
I think a year or two later, I started to talk to you about, like,
-
my passion for just wanting to see the people of God just free in
-
their finances.
-
So I think the number one thing is, you know, like, I have
-
more than enough.
-
I don't have more than enough.
-
Have you said that?
-
Raise your hand.
-
Don't do it.
-
Don't do it.
-
Don't do it.
-
I was just joking.
-
I was just joking.
-
Well, here's the wisdom key for you.
-
Without a budget, you'll never have enough money.
-
Without a budget, you'll never have enough money.
-
Now I'm gonna get real vulnerable with you guys.
-
And, you know, this is what this conversation is about, because
-
that you just dropped so much wisdom is oftentimes we make excuses.
-
I don't have enough.
-
I don't have enough.
-
But we're buying things that we can't afford out of and we're
-
buying things out of season.
-
So it might be the wrong car or it might be the right car for
-
the wrong year.
-
Let me say it again, because my wife just sent me a picture of
-
our Kia Sportage getting loaded up on the back of a flatbed
-
as they were towing that sucker away.
-
And we basically raised an Entire family for 15 years almost
-
on that one Kia Sportage.
-
Am I right?
-
12.
-
Okay, she ain't giving me those three years.
-
12.
-
But let me tell you why I was ashamed of that Kia Sportage.
-
As a testosterone driven, bearded, bald headed, hairy Italian
-
male, the idea of driving a Kia Sportage was emasculating to
-
me because my vehicle, I'm just cannot.
-
How real can I be?
-
Cause these are money talks.
-
Welcome to the living room.
-
We're gonna get into the word.
-
Let me just tell you.
-
It was emasculating because before that I had a truck.
-
Now in Indiana, we have a starter pack for men.
-
You get a shotgun and you get a truck and you put the shotgun in
-
the truck and you just wait for the day of full cross.
-
Okay?
-
Nevermind, Lord, please.
-
And so to go from that truck to a Kia Sportage was embarrassing
-
and emasculating.
-
But let me tell you, I was going from glory to glory.
-
And actually what was happening was I couldn't have a car
-
payment because the Lord had called me into that next season and
-
he asked me to do some things and I had to sacrifice temporarily
-
so that I could step into my destiny.
-
And so the thing is, now I have a vehicle, a new vehicle.
-
But also it serves a purpose in this season.
-
Cause it's a large vehicle.
-
I host many people from around the world, I drive them all around.
-
And that vehicle serves a purpose in this season.
-
So I believe I was always going to have that vehicle.
-
But the question is, when?
-
So it's like, are you willing to not have a car payment for enough
-
years so that when you get that car payment, it doesn't destroy
-
you?
-
Because the thing about this is, man, I just gotta help y'all.
-
Did you know that you can take your car with payments back to the
-
dealer and give it back to them?
-
Because what happens is some of you guys are saying, God, why
-
have you forsaken me?
-
And the Lord is saying, daughter, why did you spend your
-
money like that?
-
I did.
-
Bless you.
-
But you didn't do the right thing with the blessing.
-
Okay, we're going to get real naked spiritually for half of the
-
duration of time that I've been the lead pastor of this Church
-
let me slow it down for half of the duration of time that I've
-
been the lead pastor of this church in order to get this thing
-
off the ground.
-
I lived so sacrificially that I lived off of $50,000 a year with
-
a family of four in New York City.
-
And that might be shocking to you.
-
How did you do that?
-
It's not.
-
How?
-
Why?
-
Because I had a vision bigger than me.
-
And first thing I did was I found an apartment in Queens where
-
it was $2,000 a month for a 600 square foot apartment with all
-
utilities included.
-
And some of you in the room here in the city, they're like, let
-
me talk to your realtor.
-
That ain't that bad.
-
Am I right?
-
Isn't that pretty good?
-
2,000amonth, all utility.
-
And I was just running that water.
-
I was plugging everything in.
-
You get a device, you get an outlet, we all get it, plug everything
-
in.
-
But it was 600 square foot, $2,000 a month, all utilities included.
-
And I had the Kia Sportage.
-
No car payment, and I made $50,000 a year.
-
Now, my board of directors said, we don't want you getting a
-
side hustle because the church has to be the main thing in order
-
to succeed.
-
And we need you to go all in.
-
And we found out through Julie's doctor.
-
Cause she had a doctor at the time, and she found out about our
-
situation and she said, yeah, there's this thing in New York City
-
where they take Whole Foods and Trader Joe's groceries and redistribute
-
them through an organization called Food Not Bombs.
-
So I was supplementing my groceries with Food Not Bombs.
-
I had a used car and I lived in a 600 square foot apartment.
-
And we budgeted our money and we were able to survive for half
-
of the duration of the entire existence of this church because
-
I was reinvesting whatever money I could pay myself into the
-
church to launch campuses and get the vision to come to pass.
-
So I think what happens is it's like you have to be willing
-
to.
-
You can't have both.
-
Like, there's some seasons where you can't have both.
-
And I know if you're taking notes, there's wisdom and saying,
-
God, I believe I'm gonna get there.
-
But there's.
-
And so for you, you've been willing to go through that season.
-
What does that look like for you?
-
Cause I feel like right now your life is sort of demonstrating
-
this.
-
You may have a vehicle that you park down the street.
-
Yeah, you're actually Right.
-
I actually did.
-
I actually did.
-
So I have two vehicles, both of them, no payments, so they're
-
all mine or whatever.
-
And one of the vehicles actually have not been in commission
-
for months now.
-
Like, I mean, almost a year, because we didn't have enough to
-
make the payments to get it fixed.
-
And as a matter of fact, what ended up happening was our.
-
What's his name?
-
Mechanic.
-
The mechanic was like, hey, you might as well just throw this
-
away, get a new car.
-
Don't worry about it.
-
And it's funny how other people want to tell you what to do
-
with your finances when they have no idea what your finances look
-
like.
-
You know, you'll look at me right now and be like, oh, he's good.
-
No, but my car's parked down the street around the corner.
-
Because at the end of the day, I don't want you asking, hey, Pastor,
-
can I give you a walk to your car?
-
Nah, it's okay.
-
Let's talk right here.
-
All right.
-
We could talk right here, or can I get a ride?
-
No, I'm not going to be liable if.
-
If my car breaks down and then you're like, man, I don't even know
-
where I'm at.
-
I don't know where to go now.
-
I got to pay an Uber ride for you.
-
Now, we're not doing all of that.
-
All right?
-
We're not doing all of that.
-
But let me tell you what's funny while y'all are laughing.
-
He has two cars with no payments, but he's a homeowner.
-
And one of them's a liability, and one of them is an asset.
-
And you got people who don't own a home but have car payments,
-
so they have a liability but no asset.
-
So it's like when you talk about wealth building, when you talk
-
about finances.
-
He said, I'll prioritize my life in such a way where I get the
-
asset, and then even though the liability, I'm gonna have to
-
park it around the corner.
-
Cause I don't want you seeing my van.
-
Right?
-
And so that.
-
But what happens is.
-
And women, single women, don't be impressed by the car that he picks
-
you up in, because he might have peeled those rental stickers
-
off of it before he got to.
-
You don't show.
-
In other words, don't show me liability.
-
Show me assets.
-
And where we've gone wrong in the body of Christ is we haven't
-
taught assets.
-
We haven't fought to build wealth.
-
And so we need to normalize.
-
Show me your crusty car.
-
Show me the thing, because that's the proof that Randall is
-
like, hey, this house is appreciating in value, but a brand
-
new car depreciates in value as soon as you drive it off the lot.
-
And so I think what God wants to shift you into is the Bible says
-
that the borrower is a slave to the lender.
-
And so I believe that slavery is gonna be broken because you're
-
gonna take cars back.
-
As a matter of fact, one of my favorite tricks I used to do is I
-
would go to the dealership and I would say, show me the lot with
-
the cars for the trade ins.
-
And I would literally buy cars cash.
-
And Julia remembers this.
-
Every single car I would buy cash.
-
And I would pick from all the cars on the trade ins which one was
-
the best one.
-
And knowing that those guys were not gonna make any more money
-
off those cars and they were gonna send them to auction, and I
-
would make.
-
And I would give that guy one last opportunity to make money on
-
that trade in.
-
And I did things like that for years.
-
Why?
-
Because I'm much more interested in buying assets than
-
I am liabilities.
-
And so I think what happens is we have the wrong value system.
-
And so for some of you, you just did what culture taught you
-
to do or what your friends saw you do.
-
And I really believe that as a church, okay, can we keep getting
-
vulnerable?
-
Cause it's getting real quiet here.
-
As a church.
-
We can become the people that say, I give God financially what's
-
best and what's first.
-
And I'm never gonna tell God I can't tithe, but I already have a
-
budget for a car that I technically can't afford or for an
-
apartment I can't afford.
-
And so I think when Julie and I got here, you know, people were
-
like, you're never.
-
You don't know New York City.
-
It's so expensive.
-
I said, no, I don't know New York City, but I know the ways of
-
the kingdom.
-
Seek first the kingdom, and all these things will be added unto
-
you.
-
And favor would begin to open up.
-
As a matter of fact, we had the 600 square foot apartment, and
-
then favor opened up.
-
And this is how I got the bigger apartment that ended up having
-
three bedrooms, man.
-
For those of us in New York City, we know there ain't no three
-
bedroom apartments.
-
There was a three bedroom apartment, and I went to go see about
-
it and off of like Facebook Marketplace, where I thought, maybe
-
I'm gonna get murdered going to see this.
-
And so I go in this place and I'm looking around and in my heart
-
I'm saying, oh, Lord, please let me get this apartment.
-
And it was for the same price, a little bit more, maybe a couple
-
hundred dollars more than the other one, which is also crazy.
-
And it was so cheap.
-
Cause I'm looking at how cheap this apartment is and.
-
And I saw it on Facebook, Marketplace, and I'm thinking, well,
-
I'm probably gonna get stabbed, but I am kind of gangster
-
myself, so let's see who wins.
-
And then maybe I'll get an apartment.
-
You know what I'm talking about?
-
New York City.
-
Am I gonna get scammed?
-
So I show up and this woman answers the door, and I'm like, oh,
-
she's the decoy.
-
Probably someone else will do the stabbing.
-
Cause you know, you gotta be hood smart out here.
-
And I get up into the apartment I'm looking at in my heart,
-
I'm like, oh, Lord, my family could use this.
-
Cause that apartment was so teeny tiny.
-
The last one.
-
And then I said, well, let me ask you a question.
-
Why is it so cheap?
-
What's wrong with this?
-
And she said, I'm kind of embarrassed to say.
-
Cause this isn't really.
-
What I'm about to say is not, you know, it's not like, right.
-
But this is how I feel.
-
And she was like, my family and I, we live downstairs and I'm
-
a Christian, and I really want a Christian family to live in this
-
apartment.
-
And I said, like, think about what I just said.
-
The New Yorker in Indiana, like, I don't understand because.
-
But I'm telling you, this is a miracle.
-
And I said, well, I don't know if you know this, but I'm a super
-
Christian.
-
And I literally was like, we have a card that we get.
-
And I'm like, I'm a super Christian.
-
I said, I'm a pastor of a two.
-
At the time it was two Location.
-
I'm a pastor of a two location church.
-
And she literally, her eyes welled up with tears.
-
And we were able to move into that apartment and we upgraded our
-
square footage, as a matter of fact, that husband and wife still
-
text Julie and I to this day, and they'll say, if you guys ever
-
want to move back, we love.
-
Because they said the presence of God was so strong on our family.
-
They miss having us in that space.
-
And so we just.
-
I don't have time to tell you all the stories, but the thing is,
-
my tithe was opening up the windows of heaven to bless me and
-
make me the exception to the rules.
-
So there's the economy of New York City, but I didn't pay New York
-
City rent because the kingdom was in operation.
-
I became the exception everywhere I went.
-
And so the thing is, but what happens is you have to take the US
-
dollar and remove it from the US infrastructure and put it into
-
the kingdom.
-
And once it goes into a different circulation, you get a
-
different outcome.
-
Come on, come on, come on.
-
So, Randall, you understand these things.
-
You know, how do we trust God though?
-
Because I think you're such a man of faith, and it's like, I think
-
people are making fear based decisions and you're such a man of
-
faith.
-
Like, I've watched you buy real estate.
-
I've watched you step into this next seat.
-
I watched you pay off debt.
-
But that requires faith.
-
And you talk about this a lot in your teachings about the why,
-
you know, which is connected to faith.
-
Can you maybe help them understand that?
-
So to do that, I'm gonna decode what Apostle Mike just said.
-
Right?
-
So he was in a 600 foot apartment, a 600 square foot apartment.
-
Then he got into a three bedroom apartment.
-
Right?
-
And I went to every one of your apartments too, I think.
-
Yeah, I was stalking him, unfortunately.
-
Listen, when somebody got something good, you need to find
-
out like, you know, what is it that they got?
-
So every single apartment, I was just like, all right, what's
-
up?
-
How you doing?
-
Tell me this, tell me that.
-
But what you mentioned was there was favor in your life.
-
And you said something last week or two weeks ago that favor
-
is not fair.
-
And, and the reason why favor's not fair is because you're
-
doing something, or at least we should be doing something that
-
no one else is willing to do, which is to give our tithe into the
-
storehouse so that I may test me in this, so that I may bless you
-
so I may open up the windows of heaven so that blessings can pour
-
out of.
-
I want that type of blessing to the point where Facebook Marketplace
-
will open up.
-
And I've gotten some things on Facebook Marketplace.
-
Actually, my first apartment where I lived when I, when Pastor
-
Mary and I got.
-
Got married, we got it from Craigslist and we actually.
-
To the point where the gentleman.
-
It was in a beautiful.
-
It was in Fresh Meadows.
-
Anybody knows Fresh Meadows.
-
Like, it's a beautiful area and it was a condo.
-
This firefighter lived there and he was, he was going to do something
-
or whatever, and he was like, hey, I need someone to stay in here
-
in, and that's gonna take care of my space.
-
I had Speakers in the walls.
-
I turn on the music in the living room, I hear it in the bathroom.
-
I was like, man.
-
And I could put the volume down in the bathroom so I don't listen
-
to it.
-
I was like, this is nice, right?
-
And so it was a one bedroom apartment, just perfect for Mary
-
and I until two weeks later we got pregnant.
-
But anyway, sorry, hallelujah.
-
Putting out all her business.
-
But, but, but then, but then what, what.
-
What was crazy was that our finances and our credit score at
-
the time did not.
-
Two, two kids coming from their parents house, you know, were
-
living off, you know, just off of, off of our parents and, and everything
-
this.
-
When, when you went, when he went to the condo, the board of directors
-
for the condominium, they were like, hey, they can't take care of
-
this.
-
How are they going to take care of this?
-
He looked them in the face and said, I want these people in my house.
-
So in other words saying, hey, you can't control what I want for
-
my home.
-
And so I want these people in my house.
-
That's who I'm going to have stay in my house.
-
So I'm going to vouch for them.
-
This guy didn't know me from anywhere.
-
And just like this woman didn't know you from anywhere.
-
But then you went in ready to stab her.
-
I'm sorry, that's not what.
-
Ready to be stabbed.
-
Let's get the narrative right.
-
If anything, it would have been self defense.
-
Well, you know, New York City, you don't really know, right?
-
You sound like my middle school students.
-
But it was self defense though.
-
That's what happens.
-
I hit him second because it was self defense.
-
But.
-
No but.
-
Ready to be stabbed.
-
Excuse me.
-
Right, but this woman was praying for a blessing.
-
She got favor.
-
Right, but then you got favor because your finances were in order.
-
You made sure you put at the top of that budget line item that
-
you put tides first.
-
Because that's one of the things when I'm speaking to people,
-
I say, hey, make sure that you have tithes as the number one thing
-
you do.
-
Just so you could train your mind to understand that if anything
-
else happens, my tithes are going to get paid, my tithes are
-
gonna get given to the storehouse and I'm going to trust
-
in what God is doing and everything else will be taken care
-
of.
-
We just came from a really like shaky season.
-
Just this past like a couple of like about a year or so.
-
And we didn't know what was going to like if certain things were
-
going to get taken care Of.
-
But there are times where we would look at the finances, and then
-
at the end of the month, we'd be like, how did we cover everything?
-
I'm telling you, God will extend your finances.
-
Miracles will take place just the same way.
-
When Jesus saw that that kid had his lunch.
-
Food, right?
-
His lunch, his bread and fish, and he had 5,000 people in front
-
of him.
-
And then he gave it up to God and said, hey, God, I need you to
-
do a thing.
-
And then he fed all 5,000 people.
-
That's the same way when you have a $5,000 bill or you have all
-
this debt, or you have all these bills that need to be paid.
-
Utilities, electricity.
-
Not Apostle Mike, because he was living in a all paid.
-
That was all taken care of right back then.
-
Now you're paying your own bills right now.
-
I'm like, turn the light off.
-
But the same way, what happened?
-
First he saw the source of where the item was coming from, the
-
food was coming from.
-
In that moment, your job, your business, or whatever it is.
-
But then you have all of these bills that are there, but there's
-
something that has to go in between the source and the expenses,
-
and that's your tithe.
-
And when the tithe goes there, and you can't do that unless you
-
steward your finances well, unless you have a budget, unless
-
you know what's going to happen.
-
Or else you'll be like, Pastor Mary and I, and be like, hey, I got.
-
There's $2,000 that are unaccounted for.
-
Where did it go?
-
Man, this is so good.
-
I want to read something to you briefly, because I was thinking
-
about Proverbs, Chapter three.
-
And the reason why we're having this conversation is because
-
many of us were not parented in this way.
-
The truth is, this is a conversation from a father to his
-
children, and that's what should happen.
-
I never had one conversation with my father about finances my
-
entire life.
-
And so I used to love reading the book of Proverbs as a young man,
-
because as a young man, whenever it would say, son, I would
-
receive the love of my heavenly Father.
-
And so I wanna.
-
The reason why we sat down is because you're a father to New Jersey,
-
as you're stewarding that campus, and I'm fathering the nations,
-
as I'm serving as apostolic oversight.
-
And we set this living room conversation up because this is God
-
going back into your past, and I'm in the living room of your childhood.
-
And right now, God is making some things right that were never
-
made right.
-
Because the truth is you should have had this money conversation
-
when you were about 10, 11, 12 years old, daughter.
-
This is what the Lord says.
-
And did you know that within Judaism, this is very normal?
-
They have a bar mitzvah when they're 13 years old.
-
Now, part of that historically is that human beings would die much
-
earlier.
-
And so 13 was about that transition of going fully into puberty.
-
And there had to be an acknowledgement of, you are a man
-
now, and we're gonna come around you and treat you as such.
-
So what happens is we have an era of delayed adolescence.
-
So what that means is we have 35 year old boys because no one told
-
them at 13, you're a man now.
-
And so what we're doing is I'm saying you're a man now.
-
And I want as a son of V1 Church.
-
And I don't care if you're a 70 year old son, a 45 year old son,
-
or whether you're a 20 year old son.
-
We're gonna talk about your finances and then there's gonna be
-
peace over you.
-
So let me read this scripture to you.
-
That's gonna help you, my son.
-
This is verse 21 in the third chapter of Proverbs, my son.
-
And this is the Lord talking to you.
-
Do not lose sight of these.
-
Keep sound wisdom and discretion, and they will be life
-
for your soul.
-
Everybody say, my soul and adornment for your neck.
-
Now let's talk about the difference between wisdom and discretion.
-
Let's all say the word discretion.
-
Okay, so here's the definition of discretion in a functional sense
-
as it relates to finances.
-
There's two ways to get food.
-
How you get food is determined by how you deploy discretion.
-
So one way is Uber Eats.
-
That's a way to get food.
-
They'll bring it to your door and sometimes fast.
-
Here in New York City, as a matter of fact, depending on how
-
hungry you are, you can sort by how fast it gets to your house.
-
Y'all know, come on, I'm an expert.
-
I play UberEats like a video game.
-
That little guy's on the bike, on the scooter, on the car.
-
I'm seeing her, you know, he's going around the corner.
-
Come on, come on.
-
Waiting for him at the door.
-
Some of y'all don't even wait for your own spouse at the door,
-
but you're waiting for the UberEats guy.
-
My beloved, thank you for bringing me this food.
-
That's a side note, Julie.
-
Anyways, so here's.
-
Here's my point.
-
You can get a steak and it cost you 300% more because you did
-
it through Uber Eats.
-
Or you can get that same steak for seven to nine dollars at the
-
local grocery store and make it yourself.
-
So discretion is, I can get this via Uber Eats, or I can get
-
it 300% off.
-
And it's funny how we shop for clothes different than we shop for
-
food because we'll pay 300% more for food for convenience.
-
But then if I tell you, hey, that clothing item is 300% off, you're
-
falling over yourself running to the clearance rack to get it.
-
If you bought food like you bought clothes, you'd have more money.
-
But that's the word discretion.
-
Now watch what the scriptures say.
-
Cause I'm breaking this down for you.
-
Take notes, Jules.
-
This is what it says.
-
If you use sound wisdom and discretion, they will be life for
-
your soul.
-
Thessalonians says that your soul is your mind, your will and
-
your emotions.
-
So if you wanna bring life to your emotions, use discretion.
-
If you wanna bring life to your mind, use discretion.
-
If you wanna bring life to your will, use discretion.
-
So in other words, when you're cooking a seven dollar steak, instead
-
of buying that same steak for $100, you're actually not just saving
-
money, but the scriptures say that you are bringing life to your
-
emotions.
-
Did that help you?
-
You're bringing life to your mind.
-
Then let me tell you why.
-
Because what happens when you spend money the wrong way is it's
-
you're exchanging temporary pleasure for long term torment.
-
You're exchanging, you're saying, temporarily I feel better,
-
but over the long haul I'm tormented.
-
And if you budget your calories like you budget your money,
-
your body and your bank account is suffering.
-
So the Lord.
-
I'm learning this.
-
In the last six weeks, I went from £225 to 205.
-
So I lost £20 in the last six weeks right in front of you.
-
And yeah, keep clapping because I need the encouragement
-
because I panicked.
-
I didn't bring my food to church today.
-
And I called Julie.
-
I was like, I have an emergency.
-
She's like, what's going on?
-
I was like, I don't have my food cause I'm about to make, I'm
-
about to mess up.
-
They put six bagels in this green room and they're talking to
-
me.
-
The bagels are like, hello, Kevin.
-
But the reason why I say that is because I didn't budget my calories
-
and I began to eat in surplus and it physically made me unhealthy.
-
And when you spend in surplus and don't count your finances like
-
you count your salaries, you end up going over budget.
-
So right now, I'm setting this man of God up for the most powerful
-
moment of this entire message.
-
I want you to give them now.
-
Cause I gave him the why I gave them what's at stake.
-
But you have an understanding how to build a house in wisdom, from
-
the foundation to the pillars to the roof.
-
And I want you guys to lean in and take notes on this moment, because
-
he's gonna teach you right now a formula for how you build your
-
life, how you build this house from the foundation to the pillars
-
to the roof.
-
So every.
-
And just as Apostle Mike just mentioned, every house has a foundation.
-
There's no way that you're going to build any pillars or anything
-
in order, or else it'll just crumble.
-
And so when you have the foundation, the foundation is your
-
saving.
-
There's no, like, there's nothing you can do with your finances
-
that will be sustained.
-
And our God is a God of sustenance, like in.
-
In Genesis chapter one, in every single day.
-
That he.
-
That He.
-
That he did something new, that he did something great, that
-
he did something.
-
He looked at it at the end of the day and said, this is good, and
-
therefore I will sustain it.
-
That.
-
That.
-
That's literally what the word says.
-
And so when you look at your finances, you want to build savings
-
first.
-
That is the foundation.
-
But then you have to put up some pillars because you need rooms,
-
you need all these things going on in the house.
-
And so the pillars are four things.
-
This is a basic budget, a basic finance strategy for you.
-
Transportation pillar number one.
-
And it doesn't go in any order or anything but transportation.
-
Whether it's a Metro card here in New York or it's a car where in
-
Indiana or Long Island, Because Long island, you guys all
-
drive.
-
There's a whole bunch of parking everywhere.
-
And then you have utilities, your mortgage, and rent.
-
And then number four is your food.
-
You need food to sustain yourself.
-
You need to get to work to make some money.
-
You need some place to rest your head.
-
So.
-
And then you also need to put on the lights and things of that
-
nature.
-
These are the four things.
-
Spotify, Netflix.
-
What else do I have?
-
Peacock.
-
What else?
-
I'm thinking Hulu.
-
Don't say hbo.
-
Max.
-
No, I don't have that because that's expensive and rated.
-
Rated R.
-
Oh, okay.
-
Nb.
-
NBA.
-
Right.
-
From my NBA heads.
-
I don't even know what it's called.
-
Premium.
-
YouTube Premium.
-
Come on, watch my ads.
-
So just take YouTube.
-
Come on, help the ministry.
-
So, like, those things are not necessary.
-
They're subscriptions.
-
There's things you would like.
-
Man, I don't know if I could say this.
-
Say it.
-
So if you have a big family, everybody get a subscription.
-
And then get the logins.
-
Get the logins.
-
Put it on your.
-
On your.
-
Whatever it is, and then share it.
-
Like, why do you need to have everything?
-
Like, I'm just saying, like.
-
Like, come on.
-
Like, let's live in a community.
-
Let's live in a community.
-
This is what we do.
-
Now.
-
There's about to be a flight crew for shared subscriptions.
-
Watch.
-
Let's go through the growth journal.
-
All right, what's your login?
-
But you know what?
-
He's joking.
-
But let me say this.
-
In the Book of Acts, the early church, they said they shared things
-
amongst each other.
-
And one of the things I've been praying for years is, lord,
-
give us the unity that you see in the Jewish communities.
-
Because the Jewish communities here in Brooklyn, they own huge sections
-
of New York City.
-
Why?
-
Because when one person figures it out, they all figured
-
it out.
-
And they don't compete with each other.
-
They celebrate each other.
-
And I'm gonna talk to my Caucasian friends as the white delegate
-
of V1 Church, because I grew up, for 20 years, I attended a black
-
and Hispanic church.
-
The first Caucasian church I ever attended was for my wife.
-
And I did not realize that.
-
What happened was when I stepped into the white world, it
-
became a question of, who does he think he is for having that?
-
But then when I was growing up, if somebody figures something
-
out in our church, we would say, teach us.
-
Show us.
-
And it was like, if your pastor or people in leadership began
-
to get promoted, you would celebrate their promotion because
-
it would be a sign that through impartation, you're coming
-
up, too.
-
And one of the things that I've.
-
And it's not just a white problem, but it's more prominent
-
in the white church of when somebody begins to get success, they
-
feel that it's their job to tear them down.
-
And when I was growing up, if somebody figured something out, one
-
of the things I loved about the African American community, I
-
loved about the Latin American community, was it was like, teach
-
us.
-
Let's learn together and let's all go together.
-
And I want to bring that into our house.
-
And that's what you're saying is like, hey, guys, Randall is a
-
homeowner in the Northeast.
-
Let's figure it out from him so we can own homes too.
-
You know, Mike is excelling in the area of media.
-
Let's join the Creator Academy with Pastor Evan and figure out how
-
to learn from them.
-
Let's all come up together.
-
And I think that that's something.
-
I want to break that spirit of competition, and I want us to actually,
-
because watch.
-
If there's no more Jew, no more gentile, but there is the body
-
of Christ, why are we not owning blocks in Brooklyn?
-
Why are we not owning.
-
You know what I'm saying?
-
We've got to break this poverty mindset.
-
And I feel like for me, that has been my heart.
-
And I love that about you.
-
So let me make sure I get it.
-
Your savings is your foundation.
-
You know, two years before the global pandemic, we were in a staff
-
meeting and the spirit of the living God spoke to me and said,
-
tell your staff.
-
Now, when I say staff, we weren't even paying none of these
-
people.
-
They were just volunteer leaders.
-
I think maybe we're paying Mallory to do the kids ministry,
-
maybe just a couple hundred bucks a month or something.
-
And we had like stipend salaries.
-
This was pre pandemic, and we were having a staff meeting, and
-
the spirit of the living God said something.
-
He said to me, mike, something catastrophic is coming.
-
Tell these people to save their money.
-
And I said it to him.
-
And for two years, Ryan Hayward and Mallory, his bride, they
-
took that word seriously.
-
How many of you know if you don't take prophecy seriously, you'll
-
become a casualty.
-
And so they took it seriously.
-
They started saving their money for two years.
-
And guess what happened two years later?
-
A global pandemic.
-
And because they honored the man of God and they listened to what
-
the Lord said to me, actually, Ryan ended up losing his job.
-
But he was able to bridge the gap before between finding a new
-
job and their family never suffered.
-
And I remember him calling me, crying, being like, pastor Mike,
-
I am so grateful for that prophecy because we took what you
-
said seriously.
-
We saved for two years and we never even felt it.
-
And by the way, I thought I lost my job, but I actually upgraded
-
to a higher paying job and we're even better off.
-
So those were those stories.
-
But let me just tell you, I have a good friend named Joseph Z.
-
He's a renowned prophet.
-
I was just recently on his television program, and me and him
-
have both been seeing from God that there is a two year window again.
-
And I believe there's grace again.
-
So now it's not Mike saying it.
-
Now that I've Gone up from pastoral realm to apostolic realm.
-
Now, the new pastor is Randall, and he's telling you, get
-
the foundation of your savings.
-
So this has got to be immediate implementation of save,
-
save, save, save.
-
Make sure you build that foundation, because I do believe
-
that we have a window of time to prosper and to save before what's
-
next.
-
How many of you are going to make it your point to do this, to
-
build that foundation?
-
Now, listen, I'm bipartisan, and I'm saying this because I have
-
to pastor with purity in my pulpit.
-
I have to speak with purity with my pulpit.
-
I got invited to the dnc, and I didn't go.
-
I got invited to a closed room setting with Trump, and I didn't
-
go because I want every person across all seven locations of my
-
church to know that my integrity cannot be bought.
-
And when I stand in this pulpit, I stand with purity because
-
I'll never put the cross underneath the flag, even though
-
I love this country.
-
And I did get invited by Secret Service to go back to the
-
White House and to do a prayer, walk through that torture
-
and to pray over the building at the end.
-
And the whole hallway was filled with doves, which fulfilled
-
that sermon that I preached about the elephant, the donkey, or
-
the dove.
-
And so why do I say this?
-
Because Trump coming in was a good thing, but also for many people.
-
And I know my people.
-
I know the people I'm pastoring across these locations.
-
Many of them have lost their job.
-
And some of y'all don't think I know you, but I know you.
-
And I know your Social Security number.
-
Not really, but sometimes I'll even hit up the campus pastors.
-
Tell me about Lisa.
-
And they're like, how do you know Lisa?
-
I'm like, cause I'm always watching because I want to be a good
-
lead pastor.
-
And I know that there's people even in our Indiana campus who have
-
lost their job as a result of this transition.
-
Things happen.
-
Here's my point.
-
I love this country.
-
I pray for our president, but I know that we're in a time of great
-
transition.
-
And I believe you'll look back at this and you'll say, randall was
-
a prophet to my home.
-
Did I honor the prophet?
-
And when we go through the four pillars, transportation is one
-
of them.
-
Go take the car back, exchange it for a used car.
-
Get that car payment out.
-
Make something happen.
-
One of the pillars is where you live.
-
Move somewhere else where the rent goes down.
-
Downsize so that you can live better.
-
One of the pillars is food.
-
See if you picked up on what he was trying to teach you.
-
Every pillar, there is an opportunity for massive savings which
-
ransoms that money back.
-
And so I want to give you the last word to really minister this
-
as we come to a close.
-
Because the Lord, we were in prayer yesterday, and the Lord, I
-
was like, lord, I don't want to miss this opportunity.
-
There's so many lives on the line.
-
And I heard the word pilfer.
-
Pilfer.
-
And I didn't know what that word meant.
-
And I looked it up, and then I sent it to Prophet Randall, and I
-
said, I saw the word pilfer.
-
And I feel like there's a big moment in closing where we're supposed
-
to break people through and transform them through prayer and
-
in this pilfering.
-
And he literally hit me back, and he was like, apostle Mike, it's
-
so much crazier than we thought.
-
There's a scripture in Titus that talks about pilfering.
-
So I'm gonna give you the definition.
-
He's gonna break it down.
-
Then we're all gonna stand and receive prayer.
-
And then next week, I waited almost eight years to earn your trust
-
to preach the message.
-
That message I'm gonna preach next week.
-
I'm debuting a new technology to teach it that I've never used
-
before.
-
And next week is probably one of the most important sermons I will
-
have ever preached in the history of this church.
-
But also, how many of you know that we're in a fast right now?
-
We're in a fast that I called, and you have 40 days to go on this
-
fast.
-
And I believe that fasting is also financial, where you say, I'm
-
gonna restrict in these areas.
-
So this Thursday night on my channel, I'm debuting a message that
-
talks about the five ways that fasting is spiritual warfare over
-
your life.
-
And some of you are doing intermittent fasting where you're
-
giving up breakfast, some of you giving up lunch, some dinner.
-
And we talked about that last week.
-
But how many of you are going to join me this Thursday night at
-
9pm Eastern for this message on fasting?
-
So you can see how fasting is spiritual warfare.
-
Okay, it's.
-
And I actually recorded this video when I was very deep into a
-
fast.
-
And I waited till, like, the apex of that fast to be fully in
-
that state.
-
And I delivered this message on video and then waited to premiere
-
it for now.
-
So this video this Thursday night on my channel is going to be
-
powerful for our entire church.
-
But, Randall, help us understand pilfer, because the definition
-
of it is to repeatedly steal small amounts without violence.
-
You know, and when you read Titus, chapter 2, and you could write
Titus 2 chapter mention
-
that down, Titus, chapter 2, 9, 10, it says, Bondservants are
Titus 2 chapter mention
-
to be submissive to their own masters in everything.
-
They are to be well, pleasing, not argumentative, not pilfering,
-
but showing all good faith so that in everything.
-
In everything, they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.
-
Our duty is to adorn the word of God.
-
The Word of God says that give.
-
Give all your tithes to the storehouse.
-
Storehouse.
-
Bring your first fruit to the storehouse.
-
Malachi, chapter two, right?
-
And it says from 10 to 13.
-
And then it goes on to say, test me.
-
I don't ever see there's places in the Bible where God says
-
that.
-
But in that moment, he says, test me.
-
Let me show you.
-
Let me show you who I am.
-
Let me show you that I'm a true Father.
-
And let me.
-
Let me pour out the windows.
-
Let me pour out blessings from the windows of heaven.
-
Let me allow it to fall down.
-
And.
-
And what.
-
When I.
-
When I hear this word pilfer, I think about, like, just.
-
Just.
-
Just dream, like, imagine with me for a second, right?
-
There is 2.63 billion Christians in the world today in
-
2024.
-
2.63 billion Christians in the world today.
-
I wonder if they got that number after we did the Thousand
-
Soul Initiative or not.
-
But with that 2.63 billion, let's just imagine that they were
-
paying.
-
Every single person was giving their tithe.
-
Now, let's imagine that half of those people weren't stewarding
-
their finances well, but they were still giving their tithe.
-
But what they did was that, God, you don't need all of that.
-
Let me take a dollar from there.
-
God.
-
It's all right.
-
You're good.
-
You don't need that much.
-
Let me just take $1.
-
If 1.5, which is half of 2.
-
About half of 2.63 billion.
-
If 1.5 billion people did that, that is $1.5 billion that we
-
decided to steal from the house of God.
-
Because we pilfered.
-
Because we pilfered.
-
This is the moment.
-
Today is where it ends.
-
Where we stop pilfering from the house of God, where we get our
-
finances in order.
-
Where we say, I'm gonna steward my finances because I'm not
-
afraid of what's to come tomorrow.
-
Because I know that when I do this today and every other time,
-
when the opportunity comes, that I know that everything else
-
underneath will be taken care of.2200 payment for a house will
-
be taken care of for an apartment.
-
The car that I'm driving, even though I gotta wait a year before
-
I actually can drive it again so that I can get the finances in
-
order for me to take care of it and take it to the mechanic, that'll
-
be taken care of.
-
When I know that is what happens when you begin to set your
-
tithe as number one.
-
And I believe that within the church of V1, what is going to happen
-
when we begin to take place and do that?
-
There is going to be a movement of finances that is going
-
to rush through that, rush through the Christianity all over
-
the world.
-
But it's going to start right here in this house.
-
It's going to start right here in this house.
-
So if you guys believe that, I want you to begin to just step into
-
who God is calling you to be, which is a son and a daughter.
-
Because sons and daughters don't have to take money from, from,
-
from their parents wallets.
-
My son actually, he'll put something in an Amazon cart and say,
-
okay, can I get like here it is.
-
Because he believes that I'm going to purchase it for him.
-
And it's true.
-
I, I, I end up doing it.
-
I'm, if I'm spoiling my child, I apologize.
-
But you know what?
-
He knows that I'm a good father.
-
If I'm a good father, how much more?
-
Our Father in heaven.
-
Wow.
-
You know what the revelation is?
-
Tithing is like putting the things that God, you know, God knows
-
you need in the Amazon cart of your family to where it's like, hey,
-
I already know by faith, you know, as we close and I want to pray
-
and we're going to, I'm going to ask that you pray.
-
It's interesting that the word pilfer shows up in Titus because
-
the apostle was training and he was basically saying, I'm trying
-
to train you, but the problem is you cannot pilfer.
-
And this is what pilfer means.
-
It's different than just rob.
-
See, in Malachi the prophet's like, will you rob God?
-
But pilfer is when you, it's like, hey, I should be giving this
-
much, this much is 10%.
-
And I should even be trying to go beyond that.
-
But I'm just gonna come to 5%, 7%.
-
And what you're doing is you're playing this game where you're
-
like, what little percentage can I take without it being noticeable?
-
That's what pilfering is.
-
It's when you take little by little to the point where you hope
-
nobody notices.
-
And I think that what is so interesting is you blew my mind when
-
you're like, mike, this is in Titus.
-
And there was something happening in the early church where
-
the apostle was like, I have to make sure you all know, don't
-
pilfer.
-
And so what I think that means is come up to the level that God
-
has called you to come up to the level that you know is right.
-
But I will tell you this.
-
You can't out give God, and God's way works.
-
And I don't care if you live in the most expensive region of the
-
U.S.
-
or you live in the least expensive region of the US if you
-
get out of the world's economy and you get into heaven's economy,
-
things start flowing and you're going to have testimony, testimony
-
upon testimony upon testimony.
-
And that is just the way it works.
-
So, Pastor Randall, can you help us?
-
Could you all stand to your feet across every location?
-
As a matter of fact, I believe that in Indiana right now that people
-
are receiving breakthrough in this area.
-
See, sometimes people would say, oh, this doesn't have to do
-
with me.
-
They're talking all New York.
-
No, no, listen.
-
The poorest I ever was was in Indiana.
-
And so I believe that God, even in Indiana, will give you insight
-
sites, give you wisdom.
-
Get.
-
Look, they're coming to sell this furniture on ebay.
-
Talk about Facebook Marketplace.
-
They're the immediate implementation.
-
You see that we gotta go first.
-
Robbed us blind right in the middle of the sermon.
-
But we're gonna pray right now.
-
How many of you was this good for your soul?
-
How many of you feel better because there's all these good sermons
-
and people know about Leviathan and Jezebel and they can
-
quote you all the Hebrew, but then you're like, show me your bank
-
account.
-
And they're like, I want you to carry authority in all areas of
-
your life.
-
I want you.
-
I want you to carry authority in every area.
-
That's what overflow.
-
This series is about.
-
Overflow.
-
And you know what?
-
Mark my words.
-
And I want you to pray.
-
I believe by the end of this series that many of you are going
-
to have the testimonies and you're going to be begging.
-
Can I tell this story at my campus?
-
Because if I know anything about God, when he says, test me
-
in this way, he loves to show you that his way works.
-
Amen.
-
Are you in agreement with me?
-
Come on.
-
When two come together in agreement, let it be so.
-
Somebody say, let it be so.
-
All right.
-
Pastor Randall, can You just pray over them.
-
Apostle Mike, can you just stay here?
-
Because I want to.
-
I want to place my hands on you.
-
Wow.
-
Because there's a.
-
There's an overflow that comes from you.
-
And so if my words are going to come out, I want it to come from
-
the oil that you drip.
-
Wow.
-
So, Father God, Lord Jesus, we just thank you, Lord.
-
We thank you, Father, for showing us that we are sons and daughters.
-
For showing us that our identity is not in our finances,
-
it's not in our bank account, it's not in our job, it's not in
-
our salary, Lord God.
-
It's not in the place that we live.
-
Lord Jesus, there are people that are living in tenements, right?
-
And you're living in areas and you're saying, man, I can't become
-
that.
-
But, Father God, we have an apostle that has stood and has walked
-
the test of time, and he's done what you have said, Lord God.
-
And so if we walk in that as well, Lord Jesus, if we understand
-
that we are sons and daughters, Lord God, then, Father
-
God, there is going to be a blessing that pours out of our house,
-
out of our lives, Lord God.
-
From your house, Lord Jesus.
-
Heaven.
-
So God, I pray, Lord, as each and every person tests you in this,
-
Lord God, as we get our finances in order, as we steward
-
our lives in the way that you have called us to steward it, Lord
-
Jesus, there is going to be.
-
There is going to be an outpouring of your glory, Lord God,
-
in our lives.
-
When the situations come, Lord God, when the trials and tribulations
-
come, Lord Jesus, we will not pilfer, Lord God, we will continue
-
to be faithful in what you said, Lord, and our obedience will
-
yield, Lord God, the blessings from heaven.
-
So, Father, we thank you for the work that you're doing, and we
-
ask all of this in your name across every location right now of
-
V1 church.
-
In the name of Jesus, we pray.
-
Amen and amen.
