Okay, everybody, welcome to the program. Tonight's wow. Aaron and
-
I've been discussing this privately for here, what a couple
-
of weeks maybe, and it's just a progression of you know,
-
Jesus Christ came to save us, but what on earth
-
does that mean? I mean, there were steps he had
-
to take for the redemption, and the question is was
-
he redeeming all of mankind? So now everybody's saying or
-
is it just those people who accept Jesus Christ? So
-
all these things and there's steps, there's steps to things
-
that had to categorically be I don't know how to
-
say that fixed or repaired. I guess the best word
-
is to be restored, right, Yes, So in that tonight,
-
we're going to to cover Philippians, Chapter two, verses five
-
through eleven, which which well, is an integral part to that.
-
I think you're correct, and this is the perfect place
-
to start because it gives, well, it gives some very
-
important details as to what's going on.
-
So especially the reason that I picked this out of
-
all the verses that deal with the situation is because
-
it is one of our oldest Christian records of this idea.
-
Because as we we all should know the epistles. The
-
Pauline Epistles are the first writings of the New Testament.
-
They predate the Gospels. And in this text here it's
-
quoting a hymn or a creed that was recited before
-
paul wrote this letter, of course, through the Holy Spirit.
-
And this is.
-
It's an artifact. When you look at this, it's not
-
just the word of God. It's an artifact helping us
-
look into the past at what Christians were believing immediately
-
after the Crucifixion. And this is really important, especially in
-
the academic area, this passage specifically, because it shows us
-
not just that Christians understood that Christ died and rose again,
-
but it shows that they thought that Jesus was God.
-
But this passage is controversial in the fact that many scholars,
-
while acknowledging that it was written probably within a few
-
years of Jesus's death, like a lot of them, will
-
date it within the thirties and Jesus as we know
-
that Jesus died in the thirties AD, and so if
-
they're dating it this this is probably this is an
-
extremely vital fact to our understanding of what Christians thought
-
about who Jesus was and what he did for us,
-
and not only that. If you miss this, you won't
-
understand the New Testament.
-
No, you missed it. If you miss this, you've missed it.
-
Yeah, And so it's controversial because as we're going to
-
get into it, some people interpret it to mean that
-
Jesus became God. And that actually was an area of
-
struggle for me because there was some implications here that
-
made it kind of sound like it. But when you
-
actually get into what it's trying to say, there's another
-
theme that is unveiled. And I'm going to read that
-
if you'd like, unless there's something else you wanted to
-
say before we get.
-
Into it, I'm good. Go ahead.
-
So it's Philippians, chapter two, verses five to eleven. Have
-
this mind among yourselves, which is yours. In Christ Jesus,
-
who though he was in the form of God, did
-
not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,
-
but emptied himself by taking the form of a servant.
-
Being born in the likeness of men and being found
-
in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to
-
the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore,
-
God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the
-
name that is above every other name, so that at
-
the name of Jesus, every niche should bow in heaven
-
and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue
-
confessed that Jesus Christ is a lord to the glory
-
of God the Father. Now, so I guess we can
-
go to this verse by verse.
-
Sure.
-
First thing I want to point out is in verse five,
-
in Christ Jesus. This is a very common phrase that
-
we see throughout the New Testament. It's the way that
-
I was taught to read it in the evangelical college
-
that I went to was that this was kind of
-
like metaphor more just in Christ in some kind of
-
like you know, metaphorical sense. But if that's what's happening,
-
then the New Testament seems to really like that metaphor
-
because it uses it all the time, and it interestingly
-
gives no indication that it is metaphorical, when in actually
-
quite the opposite when it says that we are in
-
Christ Jesus. You're not saved if you're not in him.
-
In fact, salvation is understood as being united with Him,
-
especially with his body in his crucifixion. But we may
-
get into that at this time, But I just wanted
-
to point that out in Christ Jesus that will come
-
up later. Verse six, who, though he was in the
-
form of God, did not count equality a thing to
-
be grasped. Now, that's exactly what the Greek literally says,
-
he didn't consider equality something to be grasped, And a
-
lot of translations say he didn't consider it robbery to
-
be equal with God.
-
Right, you know what's bad about that, don't you. Now
-
that's a form of the word that most people use
-
for rapture Harpotso, so yeah, that's what is it. G
-
seven twenty four or seven twenty six. Anyways, seven twenty
-
four and seven twenty six is all variations of the
-
same word harpozzo.
-
Right, And when we look at this, it's literally saying
-
something grasped. And so critics will say that it's saying
-
that Jesus became God because he's grasping or he or
-
he's taking it from the Father. But there's just this
-
problem here that says, though he was in the form
-
of God, he did not count equality something to be grasped,
-
but emptied himself. So this is this implication that he
-
was something before he took the form of a man,
-
that he emptied himself of what he already had right
-
so that he could become a man. Now, when we
-
take this expression emptied, it doesn't mean that he emptied
-
himself of divinity, which would make no sense. It's saying
-
that he just rid himself. We see this in other
-
passages in the New Testament, that he was rich. Though
-
he was rich, he made himself poor. So there were
-
the riches that were of divinity, like omnipotence and omniscience
-
in all those things, but he didn't allow himself access
-
to his omniscience, to his omnipotence while he was on earth.
-
We have implications that he didn't do any of his
-
miracles without the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit descended on
-
him at baptism, and then he starts doing miracless right.
-
So this is the implication that he's not invoking his
-
power as the Son, and he did that on purpose,
-
not that he wasn't able to he was simply using
-
the Holy Spirit. But he was doing that because he
-
wanted to be the example to humanity so that humanity,
-
ultimately we will be able to do miracles. He literally
-
says it in the Gospels that they would be able
-
to do greater miracles than even him. And so when
-
we look at this, you need to understand that when
-
he's emptying himself, he's saying he's not going he's not
-
using the divine powers that he actually deserved. When it
-
says that not even the son knows, but the Father knows,
-
he was purposely limiting himself. Because we will get into why,
-
because the why is the only way you can understand
-
the New Testament. I agree, Is there anything else you
-
want to get out at verse six?
-
Let me take a look at verse six. So again no,
-
I'm pretty good with that. I just did want to
-
interject that, or maybe I'll do it in the next one.
-
But we have this, this idea from the Book of Ephesions.
-
This this Greek word when it refers to us once
-
he ascended, it says that now, well, our place is
-
at biorno. It's it's not in heaven. It says, it's
-
above the heavens with Christ. So everybody might want to
-
take a look at a word study of that for
-
g h that But that's what that's what's being talked
-
about here, That that this idea that you said in
-
the beginning that that that somehow we're somehow we're attached
-
to him or where he's at, even though how do
-
I put that, even though we're not glorified yet, we
-
do get to see the Holy Spirit just like he did.
-
We can work miracles through the Holy Spirit, just like
-
he did so, and because of that, our place is
-
actually well the only I mean, we don't have a
-
word for that in English. There's only two words above
-
the heavens, right or above the heavenly. So so that's
-
working into this idea. So go ahead from there verse seven,
-
I guess, yeah. So in verse seven, he emptied himself
-
taking the form of a servant, being born in the
-
likeness of men. So he emptied himself.
-
He's humbling himself even though he deserves all honor. He
-
deserves to be incocorporealble incorporeal, which being corporeal is by
-
definition being limited. So he's limiting his infinite power. And
-
so that's by definition going to humble God. But he's
-
choosing to do so, to take the form of a
-
servant being born in the likeness of men. And this
-
isn't also interesting that he's choosing to be a servant
-
of all things. So he's not just going to come
-
around as God incarnate and say and just boast of
-
who he is. Literally you will find in the Gospel
-
of John. And this is being used by Muslims Unitarians
-
to say that Jesus wasn't God because he did worship
-
the Father, he did pray to the Father, he did
-
say that the Father is the one true God. He
-
worshiped him. And why is God worshiping himself? And obviously
-
these are two persons, the Son and the Father are
-
not the same person. But why is he worshiping divinity
-
when he already has divinity? But that's what's happening here,
-
when he's choosing to be a servant verse eight and
-
being found in human form, he humbled himself by being
-
obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
-
God is being obedient.
-
God is being And this is a this is one
-
hundred and forty four thousand dollars question, How can God be?
-
How can he be disobedient? Well, who's he obeying? You
-
know exactly who? So he's obeying himself or what? This
-
this further presents presents this conundrum that he has disconnected
-
himself from his divine attributes. Yeah, that's what this is
-
trying to say. He he took on the form and
-
here in the Greek both times it's in the plural
-
masculine and the thropos he took on the form of
-
of being God. Being theos singular, he took on the
-
form of anathropos men or or you know, mankind. So
-
it's just saying that again in a different way. It's
-
ramming at home that he is God. But for this instance,
-
for this manifestation, he shed his divine power because that
-
was the and we haven't got to that yet, but
-
for some reason, that was the only way that he
-
could save us from our sins, right, he had to
-
do this. So a lot of people miss that. They
-
don't realize how important the baptism, which is of course
-
the Bible says that he just wasn't baptized. That's when
-
he was anointed, that's when he was ordained to do
-
his ministry.
-
Was there when the Holy Spirit, And there's just multiple
-
problems with that. People point out about the New Testament,
-
that is, specifically Muslims and Unitarians. If you're talking to them,
-
they're going to bring this up, especially the apologists they're
-
going to say certain passages where Jesus says the Father
-
is greater than I. He does say that in the
-
Gospel of John, and it does say that he obeys
-
the Father in everything. And it also here's the issue.
-
Why would Jesus be baptized if it was the baptism
-
for the remission of sins? So everyone was going to
-
be baptized to confess their sin and have him washed
-
away through baptism. So why is Jesus doing this if
-
he has no sin? Not only that, afterwards, when Jesus
-
rises up out of the water, the Father says to him,
-
you are my son, with whom I am well pleased.
-
Now there are some attestation and some argue that the
-
text to me have originally said the Father said to him,
-
you are my son. Today I have begotten you. So
-
there's this idea that there's he being reborn or the
-
new birth at baptism, which Jesus promises in the Gospel
-
of John. Well, if that's the case, then Jesus can't
-
be God right because he's being born again in baptism.
-
Why would he need that if he was to sinner?
-
And so all of these things that you're we're putting together.
-
You need to take a moment. And the other thing
-
that you need to understand is that unitarians rely upon
-
the fact that they don't believe the Bible is infallible.
-
They think that it's full of errors. So they saying
-
so when they point to these verses, they say, these
-
are the ones that weren't corrupted, right exactly, So when
-
we do believe that the whole Bible is inspired, we
-
take all those verses and we can't take them lightly.
-
That said that the Word became flesh, that the Word
-
was God, and without him nothing would have come into being.
-
That has come into being. That we have many passages
-
that says that Jesus created the world. And so so
-
how do we make sense of all these passages. Well,
-
in this passage that we just read, you understand that
-
it's it's integral that you unders that Jesus had to
-
obey in the incarnation. He had to obey for some goal,
-
some motive, some goal, for some reason.
-
And just take note here it says it again to
-
the Greek because here in this verse verse eight, some
-
translations were differently, but you know, found to be in
-
an appearance of the man or form of a man.
-
That word there is schema in Greek. It means form.
-
He only took on the form he is God. And
-
it's saying in the Greek here that that that he
-
put that off and became the form of a man.
-
So it's saying this in every you know, every which
-
way he can say it in the Greek here, letting
-
you know that he has separated himself from power. And yes,
-
it's true. Well, I would say, just to qualify your statements,
-
I wouldn't say that he just like took away his
-
own divine attributes, because he always contains them as.
-
The essence of God. But what he did was he
-
chose to behave within the attributes of man, right right, right,
-
he chose not to behave with the attributes of God
-
because for a reason. But that's what this word means
-
in Greek. Schema means well, it's it's it's it's where
-
we get the word word schematic for. It's saying that
-
for this time period he adapted himself to to the scheme,
-
to the to the form, to the condition of a human,
-
of a man.
-
That's what it's saying. It's not saying he was not God.
-
That's not it's saying you say he took on the
-
schema of Anathropos.
-
So when you say that in Greek, you're not saying
-
he become a man.
-
That's not what you're saying. So you know the translation
-
and pose a problem here. No matter what translation you're
-
looking at, that's the real issue here, right.
-
One of the reasons that I think if we want
-
to have a perfect translation, you might have to end
-
up with something more like something dynamic, because some words
-
need multiple words to describe to have a direct equivalence.
-
Right right, you're absolutely correct, But then it doesn't become
-
an exact translation.
-
Right, Well, the question the question is is is an
-
exact translation one that exactly emulates what the text is
-
trying to tell you, and rather than trying to apply
-
one word to each word, is a word for word
-
translation even possible? If one word can't be we don't
-
have a direct equivalent in English for one right, so agreed,
-
Which everybody needs to remember. This is where compound words
-
come from. Compound words come from the Greek, that's the word,
-
that's where they originated. Know whether combat worn than the
-
other other language. That's why God did this in the
-
subcuag that's why he did it. And many people don't
-
realize that you have.
-
To get really down into the language to figure out
-
way to admit it. These are compound words. Yeah, that's
-
that's where it comes from. So unfortunately English is not
-
that dynamic. There is no more an exacting language than
-
going to be a Greek, which isn't so it does.
-
You know, you have to.
-
If that wereked, if you were to have a literal translation,
-
you would have Jesus God's nose burning and I and
-
feeling joy in your kidneys.
-
Feeling joy in your kidneys. Yep, that's true. That's that's correct.
-
So becoming obedient to the point of death, even death
-
on a cross. Therefore, God has highly exalted him and
-
bestowed on him the name that is above every name,
-
so that at the name of Jesus, every knee should
-
bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
-
and every tongue confessed that Jesus is Lord the glory
-
of God the Father. Now we see similar language to
-
confessing that Jesus is lord in Romans chapter ten. If
-
you confess that Jesus is Lord, you shall be saved.
-
And when the text kind of exegies what that means.
-
It quotes the Book of Joel that says that whoever
-
believes in the name of the Lord will be saved. Well, here,
-
when it says Lord, it's saying the tetragrammaton the name
-
of God Yahweh. So it's saying that he's confessing that
-
Jesus is Yahweh, you will be saved. So if everyone
-
is confessing that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of
-
God the Father. But here's the issue. If we read
-
nine again, it says, therefore God has highly exalted him
-
and bestowed on him the name. And so here's that
-
big issue, which I said, actually caused me to doubt
-
at one point in my life not very long ago.
-
And actually this study has strengthened my faith in my
-
under not only that it's opened my eyes to things
-
that that I had been missing as a Christian when
-
I was reading the New Testament. When I tell you, you
-
can't understand the New Testament if you miss this, you
-
don't understand it. You can't because this is a fact.
-
It says that Jesus was exalted, Yes, that he was
-
giving something that he didn't have at some point, at
-
some point, and he's exalted to this position. And so
-
but if we reel out a little bit, don't freak out,
-
because he was in the form of God prior. Right,
-
he was in the form of God, but he became
-
took on the form of a man. Then he was exalted.
-
Then he was given the name after the resurrection.
-
That's what it's saying, right, And yes, he was exulted
-
at look he it's kind of hard to relay that idea,
-
but yes, he received something that God gave him in
-
physical form was the resurrection. It says that God raised
-
him from the dead. Yes, and God did that and
-
then gave him this name so that he would rule
-
over all the nations. Here, why, here's another issue.
-
Doesn't Jesus already have the authority to rule the nations
-
before he became incarnate, after all, he created them. So
-
Jesus is receiving something here after his resurrection, and then
-
he just caused all these questions, while how is he
-
receiving it if you already had it? Well, this goes
-
into what he's doing at the incarnation though incarnation is
-
the gospel. Yes, here's something that you miss, like like
-
I was told in Sunday School that the gospel is
-
Jesus dying instead of me. Well, the New Testament doesn't
-
say that. In fact, it has Jesus preaching the gospel.
-
How can he preach the gospel before he was even
-
crucified if that's what the gospel is. And literally, when
-
the angels appeared to the shepherds, they say, what do
-
they say? We bring good tidings of your same language
-
of gospel, Gospel means glad, good news. And so the
-
gospel was that God became incarnate, right, and and so
-
the incarnation is intagril for your understanding of what He
-
did for us, his overarching mission. Now, the crucifixion and
-
how he takes away our sin is a step in
-
that overarching goal to save us. And and.
-
I'm gonna have to bring it something we brought up. Well,
-
I already brought it up, but Acts chapter three, verse fifteen,
-
and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from
-
the dead, of which we are witnesses. So so here
-
you got this idea, but incorporated this is you know,
-
I don't know if I want to say it yet.
-
We talked about tonight, Well, tonight we we took communion.
-
So should I bring that up about his dual role
-
that it says there.
-
Prince end save here. Let's wait a little bit on it, okay,
-
because I want to move to Hebrews. And then I
-
think Hebrews actually deals like right, yeah, Amen, deals with
-
it a little bit more specifically.
-
I agree, And that's going to be our next fellowship.
-
Right. No, I want to go with it here because
-
you can help us understand, all right, All okay? So
-
Hebrews Chapter one, it starts out saying, long ago, at
-
many times and in many ways, God spoke to our
-
fathers by the prophets. But in these last days he
-
has spoken to us by his son, whom he appointed
-
as error over all things, through whom he created the world.
-
He is the radiance of the glory of God, the
-
exact imprint of his nature. He upholds the universe by
-
the word of his power. After making purification of sins,
-
he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty
-
on high, having become as much superior to angels, as
-
the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
-
Were you listening now, Let's talk about who he is
-
by his essence, right, he is the radiance of God's glory,
-
the exact imprint of his nature. He even upholds all creation.
-
He created the world and he upholds it.
-
So you realize that that phraseology in English, we would
-
translate that that to say that it is saying that
-
he is the silhouette of God.
-
No, I would say like it's The idea is more
-
like he's he's the beams of light radiating from him,
-
unless if you say unnecesssary, were referring to the exact imprint,
-
part I was referring to the exact imprint.
-
Pot.
-
Okay, a silhouette is created by the beams of light
-
you're talking about. It has to be coming from a place.
-
So this is saying that the Lord, so God, the
-
Father is is the event horizon. It is where the
-
light comes from. Jesus is that silhouette between he and us.
-
Yeah. And and to kind of exegy a little bit
-
of what you said, we have other passages that say
-
that Jesus is the image of God, is the image,
-
the exact image of God. And when they use this language,
-
it's referring to the Jewish understanding of Genesis chapter one
-
when it says in the image of God, we remained yes,
-
and so well they were like, well, God doesn't have
-
a form, so how can we be made in his shape? Well,
-
the way, if you're reading the Targums, which is an
-
Aramaic paraphrase of the text, they interpreted its meaning that
-
we were made in that the image of God is
-
the word of God. He is basically the visible manifestation
-
of the Father that can appear in our world.
-
Right.
-
Yeah, you could say God is here. God is there
-
only when you're referring to this specific person of the Trinity,
-
because the Father is everywhere. Of course, the Sun is
-
kind of everywhere in that sense, because he flows out
-
from the Father. But if you're looking at it from
-
that aspect, well, we also have this problem with time.
-
Okay, God is everywhere, and that's not good enough. That's
-
not good enough to say he's everywhere. You have to
-
say he's everywhere every wind. So Jesus Christ in this fabrication, right,
-
he wasn't everywhere in every win. He took on our form,
-
He took on our scheme, as I was saying earlier.
-
So you can't have an exact representation of God inside
-
of what is manipulated by time.
-
So he is.
-
He is the approximation of the Father in this environment
-
or this dimension, you know what I mean. So you
-
have to be able to grasp that before you can
-
go any further. And it's very hard to translate to
-
people that, No, you don't understand. The Creator does not
-
experience time. He's not a slave to it. He's on it.
-
So he had to take a silhouette of himself and
-
put it into the the schematic of a man.
-
Yeah, and when and I guess we can get onto
-
Christology in another or on eternity in another in another study.
-
But I just want to emphasize that point that we're
-
talking that Jesus is in the set. He's literally the
-
creator of the universe. Yes, he flows out from the
-
being of God, the literal radiance of the Father, right,
-
and and.
-
He's able to uphold the whole universe.
-
Okay, But then after making purifications of sin, he sat
-
at the right hand of the Majesty on high. So
-
after he made purification of sin, he sat on the
-
right hand of Majesty, and having become as much superior
-
to angels, as the name he has inherited is more
-
excellent than theirs. And so again you have this language
-
of he was this, and but he became this. He
-
was this, now he's this, But there's always this. This
-
means of how he became. He became this. He became
-
this because of his death, his obedience of the death,
-
which made purification for sins.
-
Well, I, well, I you're phrasing that wrong.
-
His innocence unto death, his innocence unto death.
-
Because this is why the Bible plainly states that that
-
that Christ is the final atom, because Adam lived, but
-
he did not make it today without sinning.
-
Right.
-
This is and I don't need to get in and
-
I don't need to get too far off the rails here,
-
but that's what this is trying to say, that that
-
he made it to death innocently. He did not fall
-
like Adam fell, so he becomes I mean, you have
-
to understand there was only one person who ever had
-
a shot of being perfect. That was Adam. Yep, he
-
had the shot of being He was formed in the
-
image of God, and he made it to his death innocently.
-
So this is what you know. This is what undid
-
that right, This is how he saved us.
-
Right.
-
So and that's I will introduce a term that you
-
may not have heard before.
-
It's called recapitulation.
-
It's the idea that Christ did all the things that
-
humanity was supposed to do when it was created, specifically Adam.
-
There was that humanity was created to rule over creation
-
in such a way as he just described that he
-
to have that name above all other names, to have
-
that authority of every nation, everything above the earth and
-
everything below it. That's and we can get into what
-
Adam was in another podcast as well, but just there's
-
this idea that there was what humanity was supposed to be,
-
and Jesus does what humanity was supposed to do. But
-
in his life, even though he obeys perfectly, more so
-
than anything any human that ever came after Adam, he
-
became more obedient than any of them, and yet he
-
suffered all the consequences that they suffered. He He's kind
-
of like, think about there's always casualties in war, right,
-
There's always in a innocence who die, right, And you know.
-
Well, no, wait a minute, innocent people that die in war.
-
That's called collateral damage. So I just want to make
-
sure everybody got there.
-
Yeah, So basically, let's say there's a ten year old boy.
-
And you know in Russia, he didn't do anything wrong
-
to the Ukrainians. He didn't do anything to him. He
-
let's say, he even likes the Ukrainians. He wants the
-
Ukrainians to win the war. And he is killed by
-
a Ukrainian missile that was aimed at the Russian government
-
who did intend to destroy Ukraine. I'm not making a
-
political statement here, it's just an example. And in the
-
same sense, Christ becomes collateral damage.
-
Yes, and that's when he gets the prince of this
-
world right.
-
Between the eyes, right, because he is not a casualty
-
of war. He'th collateral damage. Yeah. And you're just made
-
God collateral damage. Which that takes us to Hebrews chapter two.
-
Amen. Yes, that's a.
-
Start in verse fourteen. Since before since therefore the children
-
share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of
-
the same things, so that through death he might destroy
-
the one who has power over death, that is the devil,
-
the devil, and deliver all those who, through fear of death,
-
were subject to lifelong slavery. For surely it is not
-
angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham.
-
Amen.
-
Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in
-
every respect, so that he might become a merciful and
-
faithful high priest in the service of God, to make
-
propitiation for the sins of the people. For because he
-
himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help
-
those who are being tempted bingo. And so Jesus, by
-
recapitulating humanity, he becomes the perfect one to represent us
-
in the Divine Council.
-
Because well, you just that's a bombshell.
-
Now think of it. Think of it like this every time,
-
every time that before the incarnation, every time when Christ
-
was in the Divine Council and he defended humanity, Satan
-
would just say, well, you don't know, you're not one
-
of them. You've never been tempted before, that's right you.
-
If you were tempted, just like humans, you would just sin.
-
Right.
-
But Jesus proves this is not true, because when he
-
became a man, he said, no, this is just just
-
think of job here, the Book of Job. Right. If
-
you take this from him, then he will curse your name.
-
Right, and.
-
The great irony to about throughout the whole Book of Job,
-
which you probably missed when it says, I have a mediator.
-
My mediator will represent me H, my redeemer lives. When
-
Job says this, he's not thinking about Yahweh. He's not
-
thinking about God. He's thinking about a member. There must
-
be a member of the Divine Council who represents me,
-
my guardian angel, and he's going to defend me. But
-
the irony is is that he doesn't know that his
-
defender is Yahweh himself. The whole book. He doesn't realize
-
until the end that it was Yahweh who was defending
-
That's right. But when Jesus, when Yahweh becomes flesh as Christ,
-
when that happens, then he is able to trump literally
-
everything that Satan has to.
-
Say, yes, Yes, which is the second part of that
-
verse I was going to share, go ahead. He So
-
when you look at that, this creates the facilitation that
-
I mean this statement. If you've never heard it from
-
the pulpit, Aaron was right, you probably didn't know what
-
you're talking about. So Acts chapter five, verse thirty one,
-
Kim God has exalted to his right hand to be
-
prince and savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness
-
of sins. He just said, Jesus Christ became two things.
-
He became our prince and he became our savior. So
-
it's not until you realize this that you have to
-
work that all out, that this is why he did
-
everything exactly the way he did it right, because now
-
he is not only the perfect sacrifice for our sins,
-
the perfect passover land, he's the perfect one because he
-
was not a casualty of war. He was collateral damage.
-
And through this he ascends to this divine counsel, like
-
you said, and now he is the prince of humanity.
-
And this is how the scripture mentions it. But this
-
is how the early Church fathers understood what Christ did
-
on the cross, that when Satan kills Jesus, he did
-
so under the law. Satan used the law to kill Jesus.
-
And think about this, Jesus, if you look at the
-
law for what it literally says, he did break it
-
how he said I am God, Jesus. If a man
-
were to say I am God, he's committed a crime,
-
not just under Jewish law, which would be punishable by
-
death under Roman law as well. If this man was
-
claiming to be God incarnate, he would be challenging Caesar,
-
which is treason. Right, So Satan con condemned Christ under
-
two laws. But even but this is how Satan controlled us.
-
When you read Romans, it says that the law became
-
death to me because sin, seeing opportunity in the law,
-
became death to me. So Satan was using the law,
-
as we see, he was holding them in slavery by
-
fear of death. Right. When it's talking about this death
-
and the wages of sin is death. It's talking about
-
the execution laws. By death, you shall die. If you
-
do that, by death, you shall die. Yes, And so
-
ultimate spiritual death is hell right. And this is how
-
Satan held humanity in bondage by the law. He used
-
the law, which even came from God, to manipulate and
-
control humanity. He was using the righteous commands of God
-
to drive people into sin, into temptation, and by all
-
their sins he held them in bondage. Okay, So all
-
the things that I ever did, every time that I
-
ask a prayer to God to save me, Satan's gonna
-
appear under the Divine council and say, hey, look look
-
at all the stuff he did. He does not deserve
-
any help from you God. And this is what Satan
-
had done for many sent for thousands of years. This
-
is what kept humanity far from the presence of God.
-
Satan was technically right. He didn't do anything wrong. He
-
was just convincing humanity to do what they're always going
-
to do. Right. All he did was just put the
-
cookies in front of their face, knowing that they're going
-
to take it if we solve them. And and that's
-
how he controlled humanity and kept them as his slaves.
-
And so when he kills Jesus under the law, he
-
doesn't realize Jesus isn't lying when he says I am God.
-
He's telling the truth. So even though he kills him
-
under the law, he kills an innocent man, he kills
-
Satan becomes a murderer and thus guilty of the punishment
-
of a murderer.
-
Right. But the problem was.
-
He was God. That was the problem. Although he was
-
crucified for saying that he was God, he was not
-
a casual of war. He was not lying.
-
He was Yes, he was, he was God. But and
-
this is why, remember we go all the way back
-
to the temptation, right, we go all the way back
-
to the temptation realizing This was what Satan was trying
-
to do. Satan was trying to establish proof.
-
This dude really is God.
-
Only God himself could take stones and make them bread.
-
Nothing else could do that, right, So Satan was looking
-
for proof and Jesus wouldn't give it to him. He's like, no, no,
-
the law says this, and he kept turning the law
-
back on Satan. Right, So Satan's like, this guy is
-
not he's not God. Let's go ahead and kill him.
-
He sinned. I caught this guy in at Catch twenty two.
-
He said he's God and then guess what he was God?
-
And that was the final straw. Satan had no idea.
-
He did not catch Jesus under the law. He did
-
not execute him. According to the law, he was collateral
-
damage and he became.
-
Ultimately, Satan became. He didn't execute Jesus, he murdered him,
-
and the Satan now has the guilt of a man's
-
blood on his hands.
-
Right, it was not an execution. It was a murder
-
because the Sate was unjustly done. You're right, there's a
-
big difference between a murder and execution. An execution is
-
carried out via judgment. Execution is the condemned. They're condemned
-
because they are caught in violation of the law, just
-
like we have the casualty of war and collateral damage.
-
You have a murder and you have an execution. Satan
-
did not execute Jesus. He murdered right, and in so
-
doing he dethroned himself. He was cast out because of right,
-
because of what he did. And he and Jesus plunders
-
all his goods, everything that he had held in bondage
-
by their sins, breaks them off. No longer does Sin
-
bind us anymore, because he's like and when Satan holds up,
-
look at all this stuff he's done.
-
I already paid for that.
-
And and he says this in Philippians chapter two, verse ten,
-
if you can catch it, if you have your eyes open.
-
He comes out and tells you there's.
-
Three places people can be and a throw post can be.
-
There's three places and a thropost can be.
-
They can be in paradise, they can be alive on earth,
-
or they can be condemned.
-
In Haitis.
-
It comes right out and says that. It says that
-
at the name of Jesus, every new shoe bow, those
-
in heaven and those honor and those under the earth,
-
that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is lord
-
to the glory of God the Father. So when you
-
realize this, this is why, of course he did the
-
harrowing of Hell. No one understands, ladies and gentlemen. That's
-
why he did it. That's why he had to go
-
where everybody was. So there was people in Paradise, which
-
Paradise is loudly declared to be into Third Heaven. Correct Now,
-
at the horrowing of Hell, that was the whole thing.
-
It wasn't Paradise. It was Abraham's bosom. So Jesus goes
-
to Hell, and we've did an episode on that. I'm
-
not gonna spend a lot of time on that. But
-
he set those captives free and translated those who were
-
the children of the Promise. She translated them from inside
-
of Hades. This this guff that separated. He translated those
-
up to the Third Heaven. That's what he did. That's
-
what this is saying.
-
And his victory was complete because the prince.
-
Now you said this earlier, you didn't explain it. You
-
will die by death, that's what the Hebrew says. Why
-
don't you explain that for a second.
-
In Hebrew it says uh, which just means dying by death.
-
You will die by death.
-
And I thought it was kind of funny when I
-
first when Dad bought me the Geneva Bible, which is
-
basically prior it was. It was the first translation before
-
the King James Well, I wouldn't say the first translation,
-
but the first translation in English from Hebrew and from
-
Wickliffe had done it, but from Latin so and in
-
it it translates literally by death, you'll die. By death,
-
you shall die. And I thought it was so silly
-
when I first read it, but it's really what the
-
Hebrew says, and we need to realize.
-
This is why the Bible says that the angels will
-
carry you to where you're going. The angels have that
-
job of taking you either to hates or to paradise.
-
It plainly states that, yes, so this is why Satan
-
is death and death is satan. But now he catches
-
God murders him. So now Jesus Christ is over all
-
that he has fixed what Adam failed at. He made
-
it to death completely perfect. Just like Adam. He was
-
the perfect.
-
And the only way I could say it is silhouette.
-
That's what it is. He was the perfect silhouette of God,
-
unblemished without sin, and and Death murdered him, not executed him,
-
murdered him.
-
Yeah, because we digestly adam digestically. Just when we will
-
read in Genesis chapter three, you shall surely die. What
-
the Hebrews really saying is by death you'll die. That's
-
the sort of language, and it is execution language. When
-
you disobey this law, you're going to be executed. And
-
when it said I like the language by death you'll die,
-
because in that culture, the term for the demon that
-
represented death in Canaanite lore, and I think it's also
-
evident in the Old Testament is mot He was literally
-
just called death, and I think that that's actually who
-
Satan is in the New Testament is the same character.
-
The prince of the underworld is a demon. He's an
-
malevolent figure who's by definition death itself. So when it
-
says by death you will die from breaking this law,
-
he says, then you become the property of death. If
-
you violate the law, you become Death's dominion, you become
-
death sidekick.
-
Because so literally we might as well come out and
-
say this everyone need is to know that that word
-
in death for Greek is thanatos. That's what death is, thanatose,
-
and it is a Now it's not a verb. So
-
literally you could say that that that's what any angel
-
that comes to you that hates you to where you're going.
-
And take note, I mean, we don't have time to
-
get into that. But the New Testament does plainly say
-
that we have angels that.
-
Stand before right, just as I described, they're part of
-
the divine council. So they might be your personal thanatos.
-
Right, we can if you're if you're righteous, if you're righteous, if.
-
You're righteous, I would say you have an escort. He
-
becomes They become your escort.
-
I say more than that, you cannot make it to
-
the Third Heaven without them. If you die, you're naturally
-
going to be sucked into Hades. Right, your soul is
-
going to naturally naturally gravitate to eighties. So literally a
-
Christian must have this escort, this thanatos.
-
Yeah. Anyway, but as we read in Romans, death reigned
-
from Adam till Moses. And that's what it says. That's
-
literally what it means. It's anthropomorphic language. It's it's not
-
just this abstract spiritual concept literally death as a person
-
ruled as king from Adam until Moses says, and and
-
so when we see this this understanding that the ultimate
-
I mentioned, how there's this mission that Christ brings out.
-
How much more time do we have, Well, it looks
-
like nine minutes.
-
Okay, I want to go to I'll try to close
-
out with one more verse first John three eight. The
-
one who practices sin is of the devil, for the
-
devil has sinned from the beginning. The son of God
-
appeared for this purpose to destroy the works of the devil.
-
So here's your answer to that question. Why did Jesus come,
-
Why did he come in the flesh? Why did God
-
become man to destroy the work of the devil?
-
This works of the devil.
-
When it says it's he saved us from our sin,
-
we're talking about the tools that Satan was using to
-
keep us in slavery, in bondage to death. And so
-
when he does, when Christ takes away our sin, Satan
-
is defeated. He's lost everything he's done. It's over great.
-
He's lost everything that he used to control us.
-
He loses his power to to take us to Hades.
-
Let's just say that I like that language. He's dragging
-
us to Hades, because we're not supposed to.
-
Be there, right, we are not supposed to right exactly.
-
They everybody needs to realize the original problem. This is
-
the original problem. What Genesis chapter three did was create
-
quite a conundrum because Adam wasn't created to die. So
-
now when he dies, wants his his soma and his
-
norma is separated from his psyche. Now you got this
-
big problem, and that is wherein the devil reigns.
-
He reigns in that place.
-
That that Adam was never supposed to die, Eve was
-
never supposed to die.
-
Yeah, humans aren't supposed to be in Haites.
-
It's supposed to be there. We don't belong there.
-
It's what's an abnormality. It's an abnormality to the human condition.
-
So the scripture Jesus literally tells us that Hell was
-
prepared for the devil and his angels, not for us,
-
not for us, So when humans go there, it's by
-
nature abnormal. Humans aren't supposed to be there, and so
-
that's why it's supernatural. That why we have to be
-
excorted by the angels to another place, because otherwise we
-
would just simply go to this place that Satan. That's
-
Satan's dominion. And once you understand deaths as a dominion,
-
as a state of being that is apart from God,
-
then you understand exactly what He saved you for some
-
it was a rescue mission, literally was the rescue. And
-
so it has multiple steps. The first step is the incarnation.
-
The second step is recapitulation. He becomes the perfect man.
-
The third step is expiation. He dies, and he and
-
for us, He expiates all ours and he takes it
-
all away so that we can enter into the Divine Council.
-
Then he is exalted. He sits in the right hand
-
of the Father in the Divine Council as our representative.
-
So that number five, we can become as we were
-
meant to be theosis or givemanization. We are united to
-
Christ through his humanity in the incarnation. We can be
-
partake in God through Christ because we are united to
-
His body right in the incarnation. So in that that's
-
what that's the how like, that's the significance of having
-
the Holy Spirit. We have God's spirit in us.
-
We have God's spirit.
-
What does that mean? Well, your spirit is in your
-
flesh right, right, it's in your body, right, that's what
-
animates your body. Well, it's telling us that when we
-
have God's Holy Spirit, were are His body. We are,
-
we are attached to Jesus. And because of that we
-
are able to be healed internally from that which is unclean,
-
can be healed and reconformed to the image of the Sun. Yes,
-
so that we can be restored to that place from
-
which Adam fell. That is the gospel, my friends. Well,
-
there's one more part that's got to be done.
-
We must be glorified, right, And that's what I'm describing
-
that happy at the return of Christ.
-
That's what I'm saying, is like theosis or divinization is
-
the process by which at the end of it there
-
is that point where we are fully conformed to the
-
image of God, not just in our spirit, but also
-
in our flesh.
-
Yeah. Yeah, that well, let me use the same Greek
-
Greek words that these Greek words are from one Uscalonians
-
Chapter five, verse twenty three. We're a trinity, Okay, in
-
Greek that is soma that's body, psyche, mind, and numa spirit.
-
So you have to understand that these two okay, the
-
the the numa is fixed with the Holy Spirit. The
-
psyche is fixed through entire sanctification. The body is fixed
-
at glorification, at the resurrection, at the First Resurrection, at
-
the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. So no one
-
understands that you have to work this out. You have
-
to understand that all three things have to be fixed.
-
The Holy Spirit fixes your numa in Greek, your spirit,
-
entire sanctification fixes your psyche. And at the return of Christ,
-
when you're glorified, that fixes your soma, your body, and
-
at that point you are married to God the Son.
-
It's that way. That's the only way it is. And
-
that's a very simplistic way to com pack this down
-
into one one hour. But this is the gospel. This
-
is the gospel. This is the gospel right here. This
-
is why the first resurrection is separate and it is
-
mandatorly apart from the second resurrection of the unrighteous. That's
-
why that's why we get glorified at the second resurrection.
-
They are damned, they're done.
-
They have destroyed their own spirit, they have destroyed their
-
own psyche. So God the Father himself will destroy their body. Yes,
-
that's what it says. You got to read it in
-
Hebrew and Greek. That's what it says, that's what it means.
-
So in this in order to do that, he had
-
to fulfill two rules. He had to become our prince
-
and our savior. So just don't understand that this pertains
-
to two things. There are two dimensions. The Bible says
-
this repeatedly. There's the dimension of heaven and there's the
-
dimension of earth. There's heaven on earth. Heaven it calls
-
his throne, the earth, it calls his footstool, two different dimensions.
-
He is. He has to be our prints in heaven
-
and our savior on earth. That's the way it is.
-
It's no other way.
-
Whatever you read in the New Testament, a lot of
-
translations will say to preach the gospel. It's actually a
-
reference to Nahoum one fifteen or name who one h yeah,
-
and it says if you want to go to the
-
it's saying that it's the good news that's being announced.
-
Preach in this text literally means to announce, and when
-
it says gospel, it means good news. And when we
-
say it in that sort of language, it kind of
-
deprives what it literally means. Hearing it says, behold on
-
the mountains the feet of him who brings good news,
-
who proclaims peace on Judah, keep your appointed feast, perform
-
your vowels for the wicked one. He literally says, Billio,
-
and yeah, for Billiel, shall no more pass through you.
-
He is utterly cut off.
-
He's lost his job. He is no longer death. And
-
if Satan is not death, he's worthless. What what what
-
is the Hebrew word for worthless?
-
Billiel?
-
What did you say?
-
Is the Hebrew word here.
-
For the wicked one? Billiel?
-
Yeah, that's right. So this is literally coming out and
-
saying that God is going to have to work this
-
out where he becomes our prince. That's what you just said.
-
And he even told you where it was coming from Judah.
-
He's coming from Judah. And when it says so, now,
-
I want you to understand if the gospel really is
-
it's the good news that's being told. Let's say, in
-
the mind you're supposed to be imagining, there's a war
-
and finally a decisive victory is found. The king on
-
your side has cut off the head of the other king,
-
and he announces victory. What happens after What would happen
-
after the victory was found. Would they wait till the
-
king arrives to the city to announce that they would
-
send messengers. Messengers would go first message what we are.
-
The messengers would go out and announce it.
-
Hey, and announce it to the winning city.
-
We've seen, we've been saved. We've been we have victory.
-
We have victory.
-
And that's when we shouldn't say preach the gospel. We
-
should say, announce the good news, because we are his messengers.
-
You're going out into the world proclaiming, Hey, but they
-
don't have to die. The devil is defeated. He is dead.
-
Now our enemy has no power over you anymore. There
-
will be no more casual piece of war.
-
Good stuff. Right then? Okay, well, we're going to open
-
the floor for comments. What time to have leave?
-
I don't have I don't have a specific tone.
-
Okay, all right, so all right now, let's open up
-
the floor for questions or comments. Really doesn't matter. That's
-
the wrong one eron what are you trying to do? Oh,
-
looks like we have comments about comments. Let me go there,
-
How don't.
-
Know what she's talking about?
-
For spare to twenty one Sherring mentions, I'm going there
-
twenty one, I'm alling about. Well, yeah, I see what
-
you're doing.
-
For this.
-
You were called because Christ also suffered for us, leaving
-
us an example that you should follow his steps. Who
-
committed no sin, nor was deceit found in his mouth.
-
So so just the idea that he did it so
-
that we could do it. He did it so we
-
can do And in case you needed any more hints
-
in the Gospel of Mark, what's the first thing that
-
happens the baptism?
-
Right, baptism?
-
You change? So what happens when when when John the
-
Baptist says, like I should be baptized by you, what
-
does Jesus say? It is to fulfill all the righteousness?
-
Fulfil like these these words very specifically, when Jesus says
-
I did not come to abolist of the law, what
-
did he come to do fulfill it? When Jesus, Jesus
-
is dying breath, what was his last word? It is finished?
-
It's finished.
-
This is the same word in every it tells in
-
Greets Teleosts. He's saying that any when I tell you
-
you don't understand the New Testament without this, you don't
-
understand it.
-
You don't.
-
You're right, you can't.
-
He fulfilled the law unto death. So when he says
-
it is finished, I'm the new atom now.
-
Right he And that's what the New Testament says. He's
-
the new atom, He's the ultimate replacement. And that is
-
what really happens. We go back to the garden of
-
even at the first Resurrection. That's what happens to us.
-
Our body becomes like atoms of us. As amazing as
-
that is, that's what happens. So so all of our trinity,
-
our body, our mind, and our spirit are all finally fixed.
-
We go back to the way we're supposed to be.
-
Yeah, and it's and we just there's this temptation to
-
think of heaven in the sense of like, when you
-
think of heaven, do you imagine that you're standing on
-
the ground. Is there a ground you're going to be
-
standing on? Are you are? Are you going to need
-
to turn your eyes to look at God on the throne?
-
Right?
-
Either you're thinking in like three you're only you're only
-
thinking in terms of what you know. You're only thinking
-
in terms of what you know, right, But what the
-
scripture promises us is so so much greater than this
-
I want. When I took a class in the Trinity,
-
I was first introduced to this idea of theosis. It's
-
all throughout the scripture that we will partake in the
-
divine nature. And what it hit me, I was like, Lord,
-
far be it from you to give this to me?
-
And I don't. I don't deserve that right. But the
-
Lord's plan for us is not to just stand around
-
and sing hymns for eternity. It is too. We will
-
sing songs because we are overwhelmed by what we're experience,
-
being unified, united, not unified, but united into the body
-
of Christ, into the body of God, so that we
-
participate in what the son participates. If it's a father right,
-
and that is to no longer will he directs his
-
love at us, but we will feel his love. We
-
will be in it. We will be in it.
-
Yeah, we will be a part of his love for
-
everything else. That's what you have to realize. It's not that. Okay,
-
No one understand this, like gentlemen that that yes, God
-
loves the trees, right, that's that's true. No, no, no, no, no,
-
He's not going to love us. We will be a
-
part of his.
-
Love now, and we will love the father as the
-
son loves them as the son, and we will experience
-
the sort of love that the father has.
-
For his son. Yes, that's what it says.
-
And my brothers and sisters. If that's not good news,
-
then I don't know it is.
-
There ain't no good news. There ain't no good news.
-
And that is, Yeah, that's good news.
-
What else do you do? You guys, have any more
-
questions or statements, anything to happen?
-
Nope, yeah, go ahead, I'm you might go ahead.
-
This is probably a dumb question.
-
But after the fact that he's he's already done what
-
he's done, it's it's us rejecting him. That's we're basically
-
walking ourselves to hell.
-
That's right, you are exactly right. You are submitting yourself
-
to the devil. Now, Adam didn't do this, Adam, he
-
didn't voluntarily do it. He was tricked into sitting. But
-
you that's what makes that what makes if you reject this,
-
this makes you worse than Adam. You have rejected the gospel.
-
Adam didn't have the gospel.
-
In the trees, right, I mean, he hid himself from
-
God's presence exactly.
-
He is.
-
Yeah, That's exactly why that happened. He was like a
-
fish in water and he didn't understand what it was
-
like to be out on dry land. Okay, so but
-
when you do it, you're like a fish that does
-
know what it's like to be out on dry land.
-
And you do it anyway, you commit suicide anyway.
-
So Ben is right. This is why when Adam went
-
through this change, he was confused what's happened? So he
-
goes and gets fig leaves to cover himself. This bears
-
testimony that if you do it, you are ten thousand
-
times worse than Adam. And I'm here to tell you
-
the wrath of God will descend upon you at the
-
second Resurrection of the Righteous.
-
Yeah, I have an analogy that ought to help us
-
understand this, and I beg you not to be offended
-
by the example that I give. But the guy spool
-
is like the emancipation proclamation in the US, all slaves
-
are free. All masters lose all their rights over everyone
-
that they had. But we know but that some of
-
them chose to remain with their master.
-
Chose to yes.
-
And that was even though the master in no no
-
longer had any rights over them, they still went and
-
continued to serve them. To my knowledge, they still paid.
-
That's the perfect example because you've literally refused the reconciliation.
-
God literally went into Hell to reconcile himself with them,
-
and they refused it.
-
Mm hmm. So because so unlike being forced to serve him,
-
you're choosing to serve him.
-
Right, it's a conscious decision to go to Hell. Yeah.
-
If we think of hell and the state of death
-
as being a kingdom, a state of being, and I've
-
come to understand that's what original sin really is. When
-
you're reading romans that there's there's sins like those are
-
the Dji do, and then there's the state of sin
-
being apart from God, and sin is just the kingdom
-
of darkness, as we find in other scriptures. It's when
-
you're living in a place apart from Him and who's
-
the ruler in that place? That is Satan. And when
-
you go to Hell, all you're doing is going to
-
the place of your father. You're just going to the
-
place that he owns, where he rules. And I'm not
-
referring to Gehenna Hell, I'm referring to the to u Hades. Yeah, no, no,
-
not final Haites the state of being apart from God.
-
That place you go before, before the.
-
Shadow of death. Call it what you want. There's where
-
Satan rules. When you so post the cross, when you
-
go to hell and you reject Christ, you you are
-
simply choosing not to be safe. You were choosing to
-
serve your oppressor. Because Christ finished the work.
-
Christ is a respector person.
-
So whatever he offered those that were in now he's
-
offering anyone else. I mean, we see this all the
-
time with these near death experiences with people. They literally
-
will will point out that they were there in their
-
last moment and they made a conscious decision to call
-
the name of the Lord right, two of them, what
-
was going to happen?
-
Right?
-
So the terminology for this is a sharecropper or a
-
tenant farmer. These freed slaves would stay on the land
-
and still work for the slave master. So that, like
-
I said, historically they were called either sharecroppers or tenant farmers.
-
I mean, are you serious now you'd rather stay with death?
-
Yeah?
-
Now, Now that's why I said, please don't be offended,
-
because I know a lot of these slaves just these
-
freedmen just didn't know what to do.
-
They were poor, they didn't have an option.
-
But when we think in terms of what's happening, because
-
because salvation is in terms of slaver, we need examples
-
and so, but when you go back to your master,
-
he's going to respect that. When we say that only
-
by faith are you saved, you need to understand. I
-
was just thinking about this on the way here. One
-
time I had a conversation with a guy. He said,
-
I don't believe in God. And I was like, yeah, well,
-
there's good reasons to believe that. He's like, no, no, no,
-
I don't mean that I don't believe God exists, because
-
I do. He says, I just don't believe in him
-
in the sense of trusting. And I took a moment
-
and I'm like, when Christ demands us to believe, which
-
one does he mean? Does he mean to believe intellectually
-
that God exists or does he mean to believe in
-
him to let us save let him save us? And
-
when you read the New Testament, that's quite simply what
-
it means. I studied Greek, and the term for faith
-
is in Greek peace is It literally is the word
-
for trust. It's the sort of language that you would
-
use to like you trust your wife, when you trust
-
your believe your friend. And so when you're trusting in Christ,
-
you are letting him save you. You're allowing him to
-
take you out of this position. But when you don't
-
trust in Him and you put your trust in other masters.
-
See this throughout the throughout the prophets.
-
Right Bail, Yeah, yeah.
-
You put your trust in Egypt, you put your trust
-
in Babylon, and they will stab you in the back.
-
This is exactly what's happening here with this with this
-
faith language.
-
And it's insane not to accept your salvation.
-
That that's that's.
-
That's so it's way more than just believing that he existed.
-
It's believing that he's going to take over.
-
And help you do outlive.
-
It's you're trusting him to take care of you. Just
-
like you you have faith in your wife or you
-
have faith in your son. You have to have.
-
Faith that he is God and he is taking care
-
of you. Yeah, and that's that's why faith without works
-
is Dad is dead. And well because because you know,
-
James is responding to some people who are interpreting Paul
-
to mean you just intellectually believe that Jesus, that Jesus
-
did this and this. Well, no, it's more than that,
-
because faith is enacting that trust.
-
It's enacting the trust that trust.
-
When you reject sin and stop living that is living
-
in sin, you are trusting God to do the work
-
within you. Right, you're letting God. When God tells you
-
it's going to destroy you put you in the hands
-
of the devil. If you continue sitting like this, you
-
trust him and you trust him his work when he says,
-
if you obey my commandments, you'd be sick and that
-
there's that idea that that it's a continued process. But
-
there's a reason why faith is so integral to that
-
right because we cannot save ourselves of our own strength.
-
If we could, then faith would not be required. There
-
would be no trust required for that.
-
This is why the whole language exist about sanctification in
-
the New Testament, because boy, we don't have enough time
-
to get in that to.
-
Them in well, I guess we figure out.
-
The other example is the other extreme people who feel
-
like they don't deserve to be reconciled and won't accept it,
-
and what they're literally doing is rejecting what Christ did
-
on the cross. They're saying that is greater than your
-
ability to cover it, right, and that's that's that is
-
That is incredible hubris. That is incredible pride and probably
-
what got Satan in trouble.
-
I I I can tell you that that there's been
-
tough times throughout my life where I didn't want God
-
to save me. I didn't want him to forgive me
-
because I felt that I deserved the punishment I deserved. Hell. Yeah,
-
that is, and that's true, and it's true. It's objectively
-
true that we deserve. That is true, to perish along
-
with Satan and his hosts. That's exactly true because we
-
had chosen that. And but it's it's about submitting to
-
his will ultimately, because God, it's.
-
Hed wants to save us.
-
He doesn't want to condemn us. He doesn't.
-
He doesn't want us to burn in hell. He wants
-
to save us. That's what his desire is.
-
So right, that's prideful, though, I mean, you're you're literally
-
saying when you say that is is that my sin
-
is greater than his ability to cover it with his
-
with his death on the cross.
-
That is a prideful decision.
-
I agree, But there are people who are so intelligent
-
that they don't realize that. They come to the realization
-
that man, I really do deserve to die, and they
-
have to come to grips with that, and that takes maturity.
-
You have to mature to a certain point. And this
-
is part of that sanctification process.
-
Ben, It's part of it.
-
Wanting God to have what he wants, which is he
-
wants to have as children.
-
Right, But that is the thought of an adult. That
-
is not the thought of an adolescent.
-
So I will say be free of bondage because I
-
just saw this, this this line online and it was
-
so profound to me, and I've been thinking about it
-
over the past few days. Sin feels like freedom until
-
you try to stop. You try to stop. But that's
-
exactly that's exactly correct. And let's say this, Okay, what
-
is the difference between.
-
A child an adult. The difference is is that now
-
an adult can do whatever he wants to. A child
-
cannot do whatever they want to. They will get punished
-
if they don't tow the line. But an adult can
-
do whatever they want to do. And that's why there
-
is this term young adult. Young adult is applied to
-
those people, whether men or women. It's it's applied to
-
all people. This tricksy little time before they realize that, yes,
-
I can do anything I want to do, but that
-
is not to my benefit. Yes, now that I'm twenty one,
-
I can go out every night and get drunk at
-
the bar. Right I'm over twenty one, I can go
-
to the bar. Guess what if you do that, You're
-
going to get fired, You're going to get evicted. You're
-
going to wind up being a homeless person out on
-
the street. So this is is that time when when
-
young adult become adults, when they realize I must choose
-
of my own volition to do what is beneficial for me.
-
This is the snare.
-
It is.
-
This is the snare, ladies and gentlemen of sin that
-
you that everyone who lives in sin thinks that it
-
is freedom. It's they think that it is is joy,
-
it is pleasure, it is it is, but I'm telling
-
you it is a addiction. It is bondage. It's this
-
is this is the slavery which which Satan has held
-
to drag us into hell.
-
And this is categorically why I told you that I
-
interrupt you. I'm sorry, go ahead.
-
That like when when you go back to your to
-
that old master. And except that you're you're you think
-
that his bondage is good as freedom. But I'm telling
-
you it is so much greater. Think. Think, in your think,
-
in your heart. Do you want to be a good person?
-
Everybody wants it, everybody, Okay. The people who don't want
-
to believe that they're a good person usually end up
-
killing themselves. Everyone wants to believe that they're a good person. Yeah,
-
And we see that in now in nowadays world, what's
-
what's called bad is good and good is bad. The
-
reason why is because that makes it easy for their conscience. Yes,
-
and by redefining it that just then they just don't
-
have to deal with the guilt. But at heart they
-
really want to be a good person. But what Christ
-
promises you that if you let him heal you, if
-
if you let him heal your spirit, you will you
-
won't have that short time of pleasure because it's always short.
-
Your psyche will be healed, it will be permanent, and
-
you won't You won't have to go to that alcohol
-
to feel to escape it. No, you could live in
-
the state of being escaped from it. Because he is freedom,
-
he is so taken the way is hard. Rehab is hard,
-
it's it hurts, and so that it will be a
-
time of misery. But he has sworn, and he's given
-
the seal of his promise, the down payment in the
-
Holy Spirit that he's given us as a promise that
-
he will free you, that he will free you, and
-
that he will give you that which you desire. So
-
so do not seek, do not seek freedom in bondage.
-
Brothers and sister, seek freedom through trust in Jesus Christ.
-
Because He has freed you from those things already be free.
-
That's why a couple of weeks ago, I I ask
-
your advice on that post that I made that there
-
are two types of addictions. There's psychological addictions and physiological addictions.
-
Jesus Christ can and will heal you from both. Yes
-
he can, and yes he will when he does, when
-
that work is complete, once you've decided, once you've decided
-
like an adult to do good things that benefit you
-
and your family and your co workers and your society.
-
When you decide to do that, upon entire sanctification, your
-
psyche will be healed, your soma will be healed from
-
those physiological addictions and psychological addictions. Yes, yes, he can,
-
Yes he can, Yes he can, and yes he has,
-
Yes he has.
-
This Holy Spirit is the down payment, the proof that
-
he will bring different rich and what he has begun
-
in you. If you trust, if you believe, take a
-
moment in slash trust. Take a moment and distrust the devil,
-
your sin, Distrust your temptations when it tells you that
-
you will feel better distrusted. Yeah, let that be the
-
thing that you do not trust. Because every time I swear,
-
every time you listen and you fall, we know that
-
you're overwhelmed with shame. That is the pain of bondage.
-
That is the brutality of the yoke that is on
-
your shoulders.
-
Right, that is that is the yoke of Satan. Yep, yeah,
-
it is, yes, it is.
-
It's an right. I mean, the prodigal son the life
-
of the bakery. And then there was nothing left and
-
he was ashamed, but there was no place else to go,
-
so he decided to return home.
-
That's right. The prodigal son who.
-
Doesn't return home stays and and hell with the you know.
-
He stays apper right, Yeah, he's a tenant farmer. That's
-
what the gospel, that's what that parable says. It says
-
that the unrepent son was on somebody else's farm, eaten
-
the slop that he was getting paid to feed the pigs,
-
and he realized, wait a minute, I'm not a sharecropper,
-
I'm not a tenant farmer.
-
I'm an heir. I can go home to my own farm.
-
You're exactly right, Ben, That's exactly what happened.
-
Yeah, I'm just feeling impressed that there's somebody here that
-
is feeling like their sin or what they've done wrong
-
is too much for God. And I just want to
-
remind you that He loves you, and he knew everything
-
that you did wrong when he died for your sins
-
on the cross, and they're not too great, and He
-
has forgiven you for those things, and he is eagerly
-
waiting for you to return home. And the only thing
-
keeping you from home is your willingness to take that
-
first step to head back home, because he will be
-
nothing more than excited to see you walk through that door.
-
Amen.
-
Right, there's good preaching. Everybody needs to let that sink in.
-
God did all this because he wanted to save you.
-
He wants to save you, Okay, he really does. He
-
really is at this point in time. He's not the
-
son of God anymore.
-
He has sended. He is God the Son. He's God
-
the Son.
-
And he did all this because he left because he
-
loved you. He sacrificed himself.
-
To pay for your sin, to pay for your freedom's right.
-
Because all sin was, all your sin, all your past shame,
-
all that is is just a chain by which the
-
devil held you and dragging you to hell. Amen, they've
-
been snipped off. Yes, they stick off. You have been emancipated.
-
This is right.
-
I mean, they take a baby elephant and they can
-
tie it up with the rope.
-
They do the same thing with the full grown elephant.
-
And the only reason why is because in his mind
-
he hasn't realized that he could snap that rope instantaneously.
-
That so many of us are in that same state
-
as that full grown elephant that weighs tons, and that
-
little baby rope is holding us back because we will
-
not accept the strength that has been given to us
-
by the Holy Spirit.
-
Man.
-
That's so true. Wow, wow, Ben, you get ten points
-
for that. You you outspoke me with with one phrase.
-
That that's a good word, right there, Amen to the Lord.
-
All right, Well now, he's gone on for an hour
-
and a half, So one more time, does anybody want
-
to talk about anything else? Going once, going twice? Okay,
-
going three times? All right, Aaron? What she praise out
-
of here?
-
This time? Haing of the universe? Oh Lord, you are
-
my king, You are my Lord, and all things I
-
submit my flesh to you. I submit every desire of
-
mine to you. I place them in bondage to your
-
power and your will. Lord, all of us here today
-
we desire for you to free us from the kingdom
-
of darkness. Lord, Continue to heal us internally through the
-
power of your spirit. Continue to transform us into your image,
-
because we do not love the world anymore, the world
-
that exploited us and took advantage of us, that oppressed us. Lord,
-
Never have I been more proud to be your slave,
-
your servant. Lord, I've never been more proud to call
-
you mine, because now I can declare that Christ is Lord,
-
declare that he has victory over power of the powers
-
of death, and that means something to me. I would
-
have never chosen any other king over you. Jesus, guide us,
-
Give us what you need us to do from here on.
-
Tell us what we need to work on in our
-
hearts so that we do not leave anything apart from you.
-
Let us leave nothing apart from you. Let us give
-
everything that we are to you so that you can
-
heal that thing Jesus. Let us live in your freedom.
-
Let that be our piece. Thank you for who you
-
are that I can't wait to live another day to
-
thank you and praise your name.
-
Amen, Amen and Amen. All right, ladies and gentlemen, Until
-
next time, God bless, God speed,
