  1. Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the fellowship. It's good

  2. to be with you tonight. And Aaron and I is

  3. going to be covering well, tridology is what it's called.

  4. Everybody else calls it trinitarianism. But uh, that Baron's idea.

  5. I didn't. I didn't make the counsel of nicea is

  6. it not my idea? So a good place to start

  7. with this is is, Aaron, why are you a trinitarian?

  8. I mean, that's a good place to start. Why because

  9. there doesn't come out and say it, that's not what

  10. the Bible says, because it's what the Bible teaches. That's

  11. all folks. That's a good night. Amen. Yeah.

  12. Anyway, the reason why I'm a trend tarian is simply

  13. that fact I have throughout my life, you know, debated

  14. with a lot of you know, Unitarians, Arians, Muslims, and

  15. what you'll find almost universally among them all is that

  16. they don't believe the Bible is inerrant.

  17. And that became very, very.

  18. A profound revelation to me because because like what the

  19. way the discussions would go is that we'll is that

  20. that will point out a bunch of verses in the

  21. Bible that they say supports their unitarian view or denies

  22. the Trinity.

  23. But then I'll.

  24. Cite all verses that contradict that, and they'll just say

  25. that was corrupted, or Paul wrote that, or all of

  26. that is in the Gospel of John, and it's almost

  27. and so in the end, what they're saying is inadvertently

  28. is that the Bible.

  29. Teaches the true.

  30. If you view the Bible as in errant, it teaches

  31. the Trinity. And here's the thing that I think is

  32. always lost in this discussion. The idea that they argue

  33. is that the Trinity arose as a result from gentile

  34. Christians compromising with paganism. Here we go, But if you

  35. study the history of the Trinity, you will see how

  36. absolutely uncompromising it was. Like there are like tons of

  37. different Nontrinitarian views that were formally condemned, including tritheism, the

  38. view that there are three gods.

  39. And that's a strange thing.

  40. That is what's always were accused of as Trinitarians were

  41. accused of believing there are three gods and idolatry and

  42. all this, when that's it's been explicitly condemned, like Tritheism

  43. is condemned by Christians, and it was condemned at the

  44. very moment it was first proposed, right it was it

  45. was declared as a heresy in the same sense.

  46. You know, the idea.

  47. That God Jesus is just the Father in a different form,

  48. and to think about that, that's really easy, simple for

  49. anybody to understand.

  50. They're all the same person.

  51. God's just doing this sometimes and doing another thing other times.

  52. But no, they were not willing to compromise even a

  53. little on that. They were like, Nope, that's not it.

  54. Whatever it is, it's not that. And so you need

  55. to understand that when we're getting into the Trinity, it's

  56. extremely rigid theology.

  57. And if you don't, the reason.

  58. Why people don't like it is because it doesn't make

  59. sense to them or it sounds like this thing to them.

  60. But here's the issue. If you sit down and actually study,

  61. you know what trinitarian is and is and I have

  62. I've had they taking classes on this, and I would

  63. say it's the number one thing that that has given

  64. me peace throughout my times of turmoil. I have in

  65. some of the darkest times in my life, I just

  66. thought about the Trinity.

  67. And how it's just so utterly profound it is.

  68. You can never get to the end of it, you

  69. can never fully understand it. But that's a beautiful thing.

  70. I mean, it's a good way, a good indicator that

  71. we're talking about God anyway, an infinite being. Like if

  72. we're if we can put him in our box and

  73. oh I got them all figured out, then then you're

  74. probably not talking about God. I mean, God is infinitely

  75. above us, beyond our comprehension, and if we can just

  76. put him in this little box, you're already having issues.

  77. I mean, it's a good sign.

  78. I mean, it's not proof, but it's a very good

  79. sign that we're talking about the infinite right here, something

  80. that is beyond us. And another thing that I will

  81. point out is that just because you don't understand it

  82. doesn't mean it doesn't make logical sense. That's a very

  83. important thing for you to understand, because if you study math,

  84. if you're I think pretty much anybody who's a nontrinitarian

  85. is probably or at least who use these arguments are

  86. probably not a mathematician because they don't understand that there

  87. is so much in math that you can't comprehend. I mean,

  88. there are aspects also in astrophysics that don't make any sense,

  89. like we only can understand three dimensions of reality, and

  90. that scientists are out here saying that there are eleven.

  91. Can you imagine there's something deeper than deep? There's like,

  92. you know, we're only seeing three dimensions. You know how

  93. many dimensions is that that we're not seeing with our

  94. eyes and you know, you can't comprehend that, but it

  95. makes sense logically, And so what we have to show

  96. is that not we need to show that the premises

  97. are true, that you're not contradicting yourself in the same terms.

  98. Things aren't the same in the same sense that if

  99. it was the same thing in the same sense, that

  100. would be a contradiction. If I said that God is

  101. one person in three persons that would be that would

  102. be a contradiction. That's a lot of prediction, which is

  103. not what we believe. And I'm and I'm but I

  104. just wanted to underscore that first. Pretty much everyone's going

  105. to say the Bible teaches the trinity, whether you like

  106. it or not. And as you mentioned, it doesn't like

  107. declare it directly says there are three in one. There's

  108. this passage that was later inserted to the First Epistle

  109. to John that says something like that, So people say, look,

  110. the Trinity was added in the Bible, and we're like, no,

  111. take that verse out, we don't need it, and.

  112. So I will.

  113. There are different forms of nontrinitarianism. There is, which is

  114. the view that Jesus it's God's first, most perfect created being,

  115. and basically they get this idea from this passage in

  116. the New Testament that says he's the firstborn of all creation.

  117. We'll get into that, of course.

  118. But it affirms that Jesus existed before he was incarnate

  119. as some kind of angelic being. They often, like Jehovah's witnesses,

  120. will say that God created the universe through this first

  121. created being, so they will affirm that Jesus created the universe.

  122. And then there's unitarianism, which.

  123. Is the view that Jesus was just a man.

  124. He's just a normal dude, and he Sometimes they'll have

  125. this kind of Buddhist type view that he became an

  126. ascended master, so.

  127. He became God.

  128. And then there's the last kind of trinitarian heresy, which

  129. is called modalism. And what's non trinitarian heresy and modalism

  130. is the view I've mentioned it before that God, the

  131. Father of this Son in the Holy Spirit are the

  132. same person in different forms. And I'm going to show

  133. to you why. Christians, so we're so adamantly that all

  134. these three are not the thing.

  135. You're missing one. But the ones who say there isn't

  136. a trinity, there's just two.

  137. Banetarianism.

  138. Yeah, so they say there's just God the Father and

  139. God the Son.

  140. Yeah, and often they're more more they sound a bit

  141. more like by Theism anyway, not not Banetarianism, because it

  142. sounds like they're saying that there are two gods. But

  143. well we'll talk about that. They're actually called a very

  144. beautiful name. They're the new mental Mockianism. That's very fun

  145. to say, numtual Mockianism. They're the people who were against

  146. the spirit anyway. So I thought that was a good

  147. precursor to begin with, unless do you have something.

  148. That you want to say before we get into the scriptures.

  149. Definitely you started something out and just just do you

  150. just steam rolled right past me, which is good, but no,

  151. you already knew that I talked to you that from

  152. a child, that the reason why there's heretics is because

  153. they reject the Bible. But you just had to figure

  154. that out for your own and it took you while

  155. to figure out, Wait a minute, you're quoting scriptures here

  156. because you're saying all the other all the other scriptures

  157. are corruptions. So it took you a while to catch

  158. up to the simple fact that know they're rejectionist. Yes, now,

  159. let us start from right here. Everybody needs to understand

  160. what a heretic has always been. A heretic has always

  161. been that individual that rejects what the Bible says. You

  162. are a heretic because you're in violation of God's work.

  163. So you really have to start there before you go anywhere.

  164. I mean, that's why I have come to that special

  165. place where you know. I just I've learned enough that

  166. in private I will ask them, okay, do you believe

  167. the Bible is inspired, in errant, and infallible? And I

  168. make them give me some definitions for those three things.

  169. If they are not those three things, I do not

  170. enter into a public discourse with them. You're wasting your time.

  171. I would say there's one exception.

  172. I would say Jehovah's witnesses Jehovah's witnesses would say that

  173. the Bible is an errant as long as it's translated correctly.

  174. And we have the records that say that the people

  175. who translated, the whole council of people who translated the

  176. Jehovah's witness translation, what do they call it, the Watchtower?

  177. Yeah, yeah, the watch Tower. Only one of them knew

  178. anything about Greek.

  179. About anything about Greek, right, and it includes that's what

  180. the get like ad words in there to qualify, but

  181. literally it's just adding works.

  182. Well, you're right, I didn't qualify that. The first they

  183. have to state that the Bible is actually the Hebrew

  184. and the Greek. It is not a translation. If they

  185. don't get past that, and you don't realize that eliminates

  186. probably about fifty percent of your at least you're Americanized Christians,

  187. because half of them believe know the kJ Jesus actually

  188. spoke in Elizabethan. They actually will state, no, it's the

  189. KJV translation, that's actually God words. So yeah, you're right,

  190. I have to get past that. If if I get

  191. past those questions, then I say, is it inspired in

  192. er infallible?

  193. There is no non scholarly translation that has produced anything

  194. that sounds like the Jehovah's Witness translation, like they like

  195. their their translation of John one. One says that the

  196. word was a god right No, scholar.

  197. No, that's because Greek doesn't support them. I mean they their.

  198. Whole argument is that there's not a definite article before.

  199. They all send the end of the the end of

  200. the verse. But you don't need it there if it's

  201. implied by the grammar.

  202. By the grammar, so the grammar is so complicated it

  203. drives you to that end.

  204. Yeah, Greek is not very ambiguous compared to like people

  205. who you can struggle a little bit with.

  206. Greek is so rigid, it's so specific. So I'm just

  207. going to start well, I mean normally this is where

  208. I begin. And if somebody asked me, why are why

  209. do you believe that God's you know, a trinity? I

  210. always start here. I started right here with you if

  211. I remember correctly, well, I mean I don't have to

  212. course now, I always start right here, and I am

  213. extremely habitual when it comes to God's word, and just

  214. train myself to if you're going to talk about the Trinity,

  215. just go here. So right here it is given to

  216. you in the greeting, the divine greeting in Revelation chapter one,

  217. and I quote John to the seven churches which are

  218. in Asia, grace and peace to you, from him who

  219. is and who was, and who is to come, and

  220. from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and

  221. from Jesus Christ, the faithful Witness, the first born from

  222. the dead, the ruler over all the kings of the earth,

  223. to whom loved us and washed us from our sins

  224. by his own blood. Right there freadom and weak. That

  225. is three divine greetings. There is you look at this

  226. in the Greek you cannot play hopscotch around it. It

  227. categorically is telling you this is three different greetings from

  228. three divine Well, I don't want to see.

  229. I can't say be persons, persons, hypostaces. I've actually to

  230. prefer the term hypostaces. I will talk about it. The

  231. Latin Christianity chose the term persona or person to describe them,

  232. but the East, the East, the Greek speakers chose hypostasis.

  233. And I prefer that now, as I did an article

  234. on my Patreon about this why I prefer hypostasis. But

  235. this isn't the first time this happens. I wanted I

  236. wanted him to read that out, that specific passage, because

  237. that's what he's used to me before. But you see

  238. something similar in Matthew twenty eight, verse nineteen, Go therefore

  239. and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the

  240. name of the Father and of the Son and of

  241. the Holy Spirit. And then first Corinthians, let's hop to

  242. eight six, and it reads, Yet for us there is

  243. one God, the Father, from whom all things and for

  244. whom we exist, and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom

  245. all things and through whom all exists. Sorry, wrong passage, we'll.

  246. Get to that.

  247. Life's second Corinthians thirteen fourteen.

  248. Forgive me.

  249. It says, the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and

  250. of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be

  251. with you. And this isn't This happens repeatedly throughout the

  252. New Testament. This this triad language, it's called a Trinitarian formula,

  253. where all three are named in order. Never does the

  254. text call them three. It never uses that language. It

  255. just names the three. I mean, you can count them

  256. on your fingers. But it never says God is three

  257. or there are three in God. They just name the

  258. just name three in the same breath, right, And this

  259. was something that came up with, you know that heresy

  260. that you mentioned the Binetarian know, the view that there's

  261. only the Son and the Father.

  262. This was the first problem that the church fallows have

  263. with it.

  264. They were like, yeah, well, why would that would be

  265. random to say God, the Father, God, the Son, these

  266. are God and then just randomly at the end always

  267. blatch on the Spirit like, but you're not God anyway.

  268. So this is where we need to start this this

  269. sort of like referring to these three persons as God

  270. in the same breath.

  271. What does that mean?

  272. It doesn't quite say quite yet, at least on their own,

  273. but they but they should was what.

  274. The what God comprise us?

  275. Of which I'm careful with using that language because God

  276. is absolutely one?

  277. How is he one? We'll get into that.

  278. So let's talk about the problem with the trinity that

  279. I had when I was a kid. It was the

  280. thing that made me struggle with my faith very young,

  281. and it was we were reading a passage where Jesus

  282. was in the garden of Gasmine and he was praying

  283. to the Father.

  284. He was praying to God.

  285. And I was like, well, how can Jesus pray to

  286. God if he is God? And you know I was

  287. the first one to say this. I mean, you can

  288. go on Facebook and you can see memes where people think, oh,

  289. this disproves the Trinity.

  290. Jesus is praying to himself.

  291. And actually it turns out that actually doesn't refute the trinity.

  292. It refutes a nontrinitarian position and called oneness or modalism,

  293. which I mentioned. Jesus didn't pray to himself. We can

  294. all agree to that. Jesus was praying to the same person,

  295. the same hypostasis. He was praying to the Father.

  296. Can I interject here? The reason why he was doing

  297. that was because all decisions, all decisions are made on

  298. that throne. Jesus was not on that throw you already said.

  299. Jesus was in the garden of Yseimite, right right, So

  300. all decisions emanate from that throne. And he was asking

  301. in one of the most famous questions, he was asking

  302. that that outcome could be changed, right, He said it,

  303. you know, take this cup for me, if you know right,

  304. take this cup for me. But your will be done,

  305. not in mine. He was saying that he would not

  306. Oh uh, how do you I'm I'm kind of afraid

  307. to use that type of language.

  308. But well, but ultimately he is Jesus isn't talking to himself.

  309. He's talking to someone who shares the same essence and

  310. nature is him, but he's not talking to the same person.

  311. That would be ridiculous, right, which is why modalism is stupid.

  312. I mean, that's not the only time you find something ridiculous. Well,

  313. like like let's go to let's let's go to Jesus' baptism.

  314. As soon as he descends into the water from the

  315. from the heavens, the Father says, this is my beloved son,

  316. and down from the Father, down from heaven descends the

  317. spirit in the form of a god and comes rest

  318. on Jesus. If you're a modalist, what is the world

  319. is happening? Because see he's telling himself, you are my son.

  320. I love you.

  321. I mean, that's kind of like reminds me of those cartoons,

  322. you know, where bugs Bunny would dress up as another

  323. person and talk to himself, right, and and then people

  324. around him would think that they would he was actually

  325. having a conversation. It's it's it's ridiculous, but less. But

  326. last of all, there's also a passage in John that says,

  327. if if I testify only of myself, my testimony is

  328. not true.

  329. Is not true. And he's actually appealing here to the

  330. two witness language.

  331. The father is my testifies about me, So he's saying

  332. that if I was my only witness, then my testimony

  333. wouldn't be true. But the father is testifying of him,

  334. So if they're the same person, then his whole argument

  335. makes zero sense because he's saying, my testimony wouldn't be

  336. true if I was the only witness.

  337. And you know, I wish you wouldn't use that term

  338. modalism because that's a bad word. So heretics don't use

  339. that word. They use oneness. Now that's something everybody can

  340. grab a hold of, right. It is called you know,

  341. oneness theology.

  342. Yeah, and.

  343. This is advertised you you can readily get these heretic denominations,

  344. these heretic churches if you just ask them. So you

  345. practice a oneness doctrine, you'll know. So don't think that

  346. this this this modalism term is quite broadly used, especially

  347. in the United States.

  348. It's not brothers, if you were baptized in one of

  349. these denominations. You have to be baptized again, right because

  350. of exact amundo, because they purposely when they baptize you,

  351. they purpose the only baptized in the name of Jesus

  352. instead of the Father sign and only spirit. Yes, so

  353. you need to be rebaptized. If you were baptized under them.

  354. I bet you got some attention there. Yeah, yeah, you

  355. could have been baptized into heresy actually, and these heretics

  356. are good at their game, right, yeah, all right, let's

  357. move on. I don't want to spend too much time,

  358. and let's just want to make sure that everybody realized

  359. that this modalism has been hidden in broad daylight.

  360. John chapter seventeen. I've actually had Muslims go to this

  361. passage to say, oh, Jesus isn't God. But you know,

  362. Muslims they don't like actually reading the Bible since I'll

  363. all corrupted to them anyway, So what in the world

  364. are they doing using my scriptures against me?

  365. Anyway?

  366. Starting on the verse first, Jesus starts praying, saying, Father,

  367. the hour has come glorify your son. That the son

  368. may glorify you, since you have given him authority over

  369. all flesh, so giving me, so give eternal life to

  370. all whom you have given him. And this is eternal

  371. life that they know. You the only true God. And

  372. Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth,

  373. having accomplished the work which you gave me to do.

  374. And now Father, glorify me in your own presence, with

  375. the glory and that I had with you before the

  376. world existed. So they only read the verse three. They say, well,

  377. saying the Father's the only true God. That he says,

  378. and Jesus Christ. And you can see how ridiculous that

  379. reading is. In verse five, it says, Father, glorify me

  380. in your own presence, with the glory that I had

  381. with you, had before the world existed. Yes, past tense.

  382. When he's talking about having glory with the Father, he

  383. knows what language he's using, he knows what scriptures everyone

  384. else knows he's quoting, because when we go just go

  385. to Isaiah forty two, right verse eight, and it says,

  386. I am the Lord, that is my name, my glory

  387. I give to no other from my praise, nor my

  388. praise to carved idols. So in that passage it's denying polytheism.

  389. It's saying that there's no one, there's no other with

  390. whom he shares his glory. Right, But Jesus here obviously

  391. knows about this passage. He quotes from Isaiah all the time.

  392. So when he's unit in this language, he's saying that

  393. the glory that he shares with the Father is not another.

  394. He doesn't have another glory glory. So Jesus implicitly, even

  395. though he doesn't say it, he's denying tri theism. And

  396. he's also at the same time implying a sort of

  397. trinitarian function within the Godhead because he's saying that the

  398. Father and the Son are different, different somethings, but they're

  399. not another in such a sense that there are other gods.

  400. Jesus is within this language already shooting down some birds.

  401. So with that in mind, Jesus when he says the

  402. One True God, he's not denying who he is as

  403. a person, right, but he shares this glory with the

  404. Father eternally. It's not something that he just gains, is something.

  405. He always had. Well. The thing about it is so

  406. language is saying that he shared it before, he shared

  407. it before. Now he's not.

  408. Right.

  409. So and he's saying he's going to share it with

  410. him again, right, So this should tell you that he's well.

  411. All the last podcast, let me do this. Let me

  412. ask you this verse five. How else would the trinity

  413. have worded that. That's the only way that the Trinity

  414. could have warned that is this way. And like I said,

  415. the Greek is very exacting here with its case and

  416. tense and now O father, So the son is directing

  417. this to the father, glorify me together with yourself, with

  418. the glory with which I had with you before the

  419. world was So he's saying that they are one. They

  420. were one, now they're not one, but they're going to

  421. be one again. So how else would he have worded that?

  422. So I would I wouldn't use that sort of language

  423. that you just said, because they were, They're always one,

  424. they never stopped being one. However, he did empty himself

  425. of his glory. That's what I'm trying to say. You're right,

  426. Thank you for correcting me. Okay, the glory.

  427. I didn't say he separated himself from the Father, but

  428. he separated himself from the glory. The glory is what

  429. was separated, right, And This is very important. We talked

  430. about this in the last podcast.

  431. There's this sense in which you can see because unitarians

  432. will also use this, these passages against you, those that

  433. seem to imply that Jesus gained glory, that he was exalted.

  434. There's even in those same passages there's an idea that

  435. he had glory beforehand and was eternally, you know, within

  436. the Father. So but how how can they be more

  437. than one? And yet there's not three gods? Well, Jesus

  438. clarifies a little bit, not as much clarification as you

  439. may want, but they but it tells you a lot

  440. in verse twenty one in the same chapter John seventeen,

  441. that they may all be one, just as you the

  442. Father are in me and.

  443. I in you.

  444. And there's a lot of passages that says that the

  445. Father is in me and I in the Father, and

  446. they call this. I would say it was probably my

  447. most frustrating experience in the Trinitarian class that I took,

  448. because like, we had gotten so far and I was like,

  449. I got it all figured out.

  450. It makes sense. But no, you can't.

  451. You can't like take God and say, Jesus is this

  452. the Father is that and it's just this perfect clear

  453. cut here it says that not only is Jesus in

  454. the Father, but the Father is at the same time

  455. in the sun. And it's called in Trinitarian language perry

  456. caoresis the mutual in dwelling. They're dwelling in each other

  457. at the same time. And since this is how this

  458. ultimate unity of God exists, how there's only one God

  459. and we can't say that there are you know, three beings,

  460. because God is because these and it's probably why we

  461. never see this three language in the scripture is because

  462. there there's this idea that you're not able to divide them.

  463. Can I interject here? Go ahead, that's why there's only

  464. one throne. When you go to the Book of Revelation,

  465. it's very clear that the land, looking as if it

  466. had had been slain, was in the midst of the throne.

  467. There's only one throne. Yet it's saying that Jesus was

  468. in the middle of the throne or the midst of

  469. the throne, whichever translation you're used, or also the language

  470. of in the bosom of the Father and the bosom yes,

  471. and also which is which is another way of defining

  472. something being the midst it's it's it's it's it's enveloped. Yes,

  473. and so we.

  474. So this is one of the things that you know,

  475. I'm I'm reading the Koran and all of it's it's

  476. criticisms of trinitarianism, because ultimately it doesn't criticize the trinity.

  477. It just criticizes tritheism because you're like, okay, well, you

  478. don't understand what the trinity is anyway, but you're when

  479. you're looking at it, and like one of the lines

  480. in there says, do not say three, only say one.

  481. I'm like, okay, well I can. I don't have to

  482. say the language three.

  483. Okay, I don't have to might this peri creesis doctrine

  484. allows me to say that, well, we'll think about this.

  485. God has God has wisdom, he has justice, and he

  486. has truth. Let's say those are those are three attributes

  487. of God. But does not mean that God has three

  488. in him. No, But you know, you're just counting them

  489. and just saying that this is not that like you

  490. can distinguish his justice from his wisdom, right, They're they're

  491. they're distinct ideas and in the same sense, a hypostasis

  492. within God is kind of like an attribute, although it's

  493. more than an attribute, but it's kind of like that.

  494. So you can't like say.

  495. That there are you can You're you're cutting God up

  496. into three parts by saying that he's He's truth and

  497. justice and wisdom. You're not dividing God by saying that,

  498. You're just saying that those are three things within God

  499. is not necessarily doing that. It's just identifying aspects that

  500. exist within him eternally.

  501. Well, let's let's let's cross. I don't know if I'm

  502. want to cross this barrier or not, but one thing's

  503. for sure that we're going to get back to the

  504. verse that I mean, you kind of read right past

  505. it and it's kind of a one hundred and forty

  506. four one thousand dollars detonation right there. Okay, it says

  507. verse twenty one that they all may be one as

  508. you are in me and I in you, that they

  509. also may be one in us. So let us take

  510. note that this boy, I'm just hesitant to use any

  511. type of phraseology. Okay, are they these individual things? What?

  512. What are you calling them? They're individual persons or their

  513. individual what?

  514. Why?

  515. I prefer hypostasis? They're they're they're yeah, but the individual

  516. ones is what so each is called a hypostasis. Okay,

  517. all right, So anyway, God the Father, his hypostasis cannot

  518. endwell us, Jesus Christ, his hypostasis cannot endwelp us. But

  519. the Holy Spirit that divine hypostasis and and dwell in

  520. us and make us one in the spirit. And that's

  521. what this is saying.

  522. You remember how we talked in the last show. We

  523. were talking about how theosis. We're talking about how after

  524. christis is exalted, the exalts human nature, he allows human

  525. nature to be he divinized, he corrects the problem. Yeah,

  526. So here it says that they're going to make us

  527. them one as I am one in you. And this

  528. is possible because we are united into His body, yes,

  529. which has been divinized in the incarnation, and he is

  530. united human nature to himself. And there by by being

  531. unified with Christ, we are able to be united with

  532. the divine essence. So that's what it's that's what I

  533. would say. It's it's talking about that this Holy through

  534. the Holy Spirit, were able to be brought in the

  535. same situation. Like I also talked about how we are

  536. being as part of the body of Christ. We are

  537. going to participate in the inner life of the Trinity.

  538. The love that Christ has towards the Father. Yes, love

  539. that the Father directs towards us. Yes. So that's what

  540. it's talking about here. The Unitarians are going to say

  541. that this means that when Jesus says that I am

  542. one with the Father and all this sort of thing,

  543. they're going to use this verse to say that he's

  544. just one in the same sense as all other Christians

  545. will be. That can't be the case if you just

  546. go to verse five, he says, I had that glory prior.

  547. I had the glory before all of this. Yeah. So, so.

  548. Was there anything more you wanted to say on that point, Well,

  549. then I will talk about the thing that's helped me

  550. a lot. Let's talk about the fact that the scripture

  551. calls Jesus the Son of God. And I've noticed that

  552. this is a struggle that particularly children have. I've had

  553. talk to children and I'm like, well, Jesus is God,

  554. and they're like, no, he's the son of God. Well,

  555. how can you Jesus be God and the son of God?

  556. And then in that sense, it sounds like a contradiction,

  557. doesn't it well until you explain to them, Adam, Yeah,

  558. let's let's let's go to I accidentally read this verse before,

  559. but let's go to First Corinthians eight, verse six. Yet

  560. for us there is one God, the Father, from whom

  561. all things exist and for whom we exist, and one Lord,

  562. Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom

  563. we exist. This is a creed. As I mentioned before,

  564. he's reciting something the Christians had been saying before. Everyone

  565. knew this this sort of language. Either he's referring to

  566. a hymn that they had or a creed that they

  567. would recite to affirm their belief. This is very clearly

  568. a reference to the Shamah prayer in Deuteronomy six, verse four.

  569. Hero is really wow is relief. Hero Israel. The Lord

  570. our God. The Lord is one. And this is the

  571. language that the Jews are always going to go to.

  572. This passage to support their view.

  573. But here it's saying when it says that Jesus is

  574. one Lord and the Father is one God, we have

  575. to understand it in reference to this this verse, it says,

  576. the Lord is our God.

  577. Yes, the Lord is one. This is and this term.

  578. One here does not mean a unit, only one thing,

  579. but a unity. It's the same sort of language that's

  580. used for that. They show the two shall become one

  581. flesh in Genesis chapter two. Right. So the term God

  582. in Hebrew, so the language that the early Church wanted

  583. to use, which we use now like Trinitarians will now

  584. say that Jesus is God. The earliest Christians they didn't

  585. use that language because to them, the term God was

  586. the name of the Father. In Hebrew, that would have

  587. been Aloheen, and but the name of the Sun was Yeahweh.

  588. That is what we would call the Lord. And that's

  589. why Jesus is constantly called the Lord, Jesus Christ. And

  590. also when when we have that passage in Roman chapter

  591. ten that says, if you confess that Jesus is Lord,

  592. your saved, and that's a reference to in the Book

  593. of Joel that says that it says, if you confess

  594. the name of Yahweh, you will be saved. So there's

  595. this understanding that Jesus is the name the tetragrammaton, but

  596. the Father is Elohem, and so that's the language that

  597. it's saying. So when it says that he is the

  598. son of God. It's saying that he is the son

  599. of Eloheath. If you're talking about these in terms of names,

  600. and so if they were to say, if the Bible

  601. did say that Jesus is God under those terms, then

  602. it would sound like modalism, right, the same person in

  603. different forms.

  604. Right, same person in the different form.

  605. Right. So that's why it doesn't use that specific language.

  606. But when we when we say God, we're not referring

  607. to the name of the Father.

  608. We're talking about the divine essence.

  609. When we say that Jesus is God, we're saying that

  610. he is. He is the divine essence. He is that

  611. one thing that we worship.

  612. Right, agreed, And like I said, what's your that essence?

  613. Where it's at. It's on that throne. Okay, Jesus can

  614. go wherever he wants to. Yeah, And just right now,

  615. as these verses plainly stated, that's where Jesus is right now.

  616. He's in the midst of the throne. He is sharing

  617. that glory with the Father right now. Hebrews chapter ten,

  618. verses eleven through fourteen comes right out and tells you why,

  619. tells you why. As long as he is there, he

  620. is perfecting those who are being sanctified. This is what

  621. creates the church age. As soon as that changes, the

  622. church age is over. So it's pretty important that people

  623. no one understands that you cannot stray to the right

  624. or to the left of this truth because if you do,

  625. the whole thing falls apart. The whole thing falls apart. Right,

  626. you come to the to the place where you know

  627. you are a born again Bible believing, gospel preaching Christian,

  628. but yet you have entire sections of your mind that

  629. are in chaos. This whole thing works, It really does work.

  630. And that's why these heretics always do this. They come

  631. in and get you to disbelieve God's work. Yeah, and.

  632. As we talked about in the prior podcast, that's why

  633. these two ended up just going completely completely together. Is

  634. that really you understand that these verses that these heretics

  635. are using to support their position really don't make sense

  636. without trinitarianism. That's why they have to just say that

  637. to say that this part's corrupted, right, They like, you

  638. can't just say this and then that, you know, without

  639. having to do that, without without having to, you know,

  640. admit that that we believe that there's no such thing

  641. as contradiction in the Bible. We don't we think that

  642. we believe in the law of non contradiction, right, I

  643. don't know. And so for the same sense, like we

  644. have Christians have since the very dawn of our faith,

  645. have had a very rigid way of understanding this, and

  646. we've worked it out in a way that doesn't contradict.

  647. It's logical, it's coherent, and we don't need to say

  648. that the Bible isn't God's word just.

  649. To get there. I mean, we can.

  650. We can glorify that which She's given us with, you know,

  651. and at the same time get doctrine out of that.

  652. Like how do we parse these Like when we're having

  653. these verses of Jesus praying to the Father, ultimately that

  654. just points to the fact that there's more than one person, right.

  655. We have these verses that says that more than one hypostasis. Yeah,

  656. and then they have these verses that say that Jesus

  657. became God. But that doesn't make sense without the incarnation.

  658. The whole.

  659. When we say that Jesus is becoming something at his resurrection,

  660. that only makes sense within our framework, right, with the

  661. framework of the incarnation, because he's doing this on purpose.

  662. He became, He emptied himself so that he could give

  663. anice human nature that he.

  664. Could do it again and correct Adam's mistake. Right, this

  665. is the purpose. The only way he could do that

  666. was too well, I'm afraid to say that. I'm just

  667. afraid to say it, but I have to say it.

  668. The only way he could do that was by relieving

  669. himself of the glory. He had to and become what

  670. we were to and elevate it. And that's why, well,

  671. I've I've tried to teach you to be habitual, okay,

  672. because there again you said persons. That's why I want

  673. you to make a decision. You need you need to

  674. refer to them as a being or a person, because

  675. can you keep forgetting to say hyperstasis? Right, we can't

  676. say being anymore.

  677. But the reason why I think we why I chose

  678. hypostasis over person, sorry for the habit. The reason why

  679. I think hypostasis is better than person is because person

  680. in this Trinitarian language doesn't mean the same thing as

  681. it does in modern English. Because they're just using the

  682. Latin word persona, which means a mask. It doesn't mean

  683. something with an individual will? Could you define a person

  684. by their will? Right, like you're separate? But trinitarian doesn't

  685. view that the father and the son could have a

  686. different will. They have the same will. So when you

  687. use that language, it's just misleading to a modern English speaker.

  688. So I do so, I do agree. Yeah, I agree,

  689. I agree. And if you would just train yourself to

  690. do that. But you know you've contradicted yourself like four

  691. times now, yes, i'll, I'll yeah.

  692. So what is wrong with saying be because that implies

  693. in nature?

  694. Okay, what about entity? Implies in nature? So so you're

  695. being forced to use person.

  696. You're being forced to use hypostasis. Yeah, well, then use hypostasis.

  697. I'm good with that, but you need to do it

  698. every single time because if you don't, you're confusing them.

  699. Yep, hypostasis, let's go with that. Hypostatis sounds cooler too anyway,

  700. But it's interesting, it's very you because hypostasis, in the

  701. study of ancient Near Eastern religions is the idea.

  702. That there was this.

  703. There was a difference between the god in heaven and

  704. its presence on the earth. There was let's just use examples.

  705. There was ishtar of this city and ishtar of that.

  706. There was a ball of this in all of that city,

  707. and you'll look into that and you'll realize that these different,

  708. these different forms of this God had different wives, he

  709. had different myths, and it was almost like he was

  710. a different person even though he was seen as the

  711. same thing. So there was this this already this idea

  712. that there's the one in heaven and then he can

  713. manifest himself in different ways in the world. That is

  714. distinct almost, And so when we use that, when we

  715. see it in the Old Testament, we're not surprised because

  716. this is how these people already think. When we see,

  717. you know, Jesus, when we see Jacob wrestling with God,

  718. right that person that they call, you know, the Messenger

  719. of the Lord. They are there's already this idea. It

  720. doesn't need to sit there and explain a trinity to you,

  721. because this is already an idea that the ancient people understand,

  722. that that that God, although he's in heaven, he can

  723. also have a physical exist in several locations at the

  724. same time.

  725. An avatar, yeah, something like that.

  726. Except these things are a bit more than just a manifestation.

  727. They also have their own distinctness, just as the father

  728. is not the same as the son, like the son,

  729. the father loves the son, the son loves the father.

  730. So there's the sense that there's a distinctness from them

  731. in the same sense. So hypostasis is very useful because

  732. not only does it make sense in Trinitarian theology and

  733. in our history, but it's also used among academics to

  734. describe this sort of idea and the engineer East that

  735. is very very much similar and obviously where this view

  736. arose from in the our scriptures.

  737. Well, and I agree with it, and don't make me.

  738. You know, I can invent words. You know that, right,

  739. don't tent me. But it's just I'm just just saying

  740. that if that's what you're going to use, use e

  741. quit saying person.

  742. Yes, But we have these passages that say that Jesus

  743. proceeded from the Father and this idea that he was

  744. begotten the Father.

  745. And then we also read in Hebrews one last time,

  746. I can read it again of verse three, he is

  747. the radiance of the glory of God, the exact imprint

  748. of his nature, which will pull the universe through the

  749. word of his power. And so he is like you

  750. you view kind of like the son, and out from

  751. the sun radiates you know light, you know the rays

  752. of light. So there's this idea with the radiance that

  753. Jesus is rating out, radiating out from the Father.

  754. Saul.

  755. In the chapter two Yep, Verse seven, it says, the

  756. Lord said to me, you wore my son today.

  757. I have begotten you.

  758. Yes, And so there's this idea that God is begetting him.

  759. And even in verse six when it says I have

  760. I have set my king on the holy yell, I

  761. believe that. In Hebrew, I'll confirm it. There was an

  762. article that I found that kind of implies that it's

  763. more like just pouring out, just not setting or installing.

  764. It's literally, yeah, it's in a sock. In Hebrew, it's

  765. he's like pouring out from the Father's being. And so

  766. when Jesus says I have proceeded in from the Father,

  767. it's not just some sort of metaphor that the Father

  768. is just sending him into the world. He's going out

  769. from the Father. There's this kind of sense of just

  770. that he's coming out of his being, right, not in

  771. some sense that they kind of like bike off into

  772. like has two different cells.

  773. Let me explain. But you got to explain as if

  774. Heaven is the picture and God is the water and

  775. Jesus was poured out of the picture and fell to

  776. the earth. Okay, God is still the water in the picture.

  777. Let me say that again. The picture is heaven. That's

  778. what it's saying. That's what he's trying to get you

  779. to see.

  780. Another thing is is this power language and that Jesus

  781. is a power like in verse Luke twenty one, twenty seven,

  782. you will see the Son of Man coming in a

  783. cloud with power, power, great glory, And it says Mark

  784. fourteen sixty, I am, and you shall see the Son

  785. of Man seated at the right hand of power from

  786. Daniel and then again and I'll just stop at Romans

  787. that he was declared the son of God with power.

  788. All right.

  789. And so there's this this this constant language of with power.

  790. And we also have this language in acts that he

  791. clothed the apostles with what power. And it also we

  792. know in context is talking about the baptism of the

  793. Holy Spirit. They received the Holy Spirit and so they

  794. were clothed with power, and so we have three powers us.

  795. Thank you for bringing that up. It's Romans won floor.

  796. It says that he was declared to be the son

  797. of God with power of course, into the spirit of holiness.

  798. So when we look at this power language and this

  799. flowing out language and you put it into context of

  800. the Hebrew, we find in the Talmud discussions of an

  801. idea called the two Powers in Heaven, and it was

  802. a Jewish debate, and it's basically identical to the Christian

  803. discussion about the Trinity and the Old Testament. That there's

  804. that that there's the sense of there are two Yahwehs

  805. at the same time, and they kind of tried to

  806. dance around this issue, like the Pharisees are ultimately the

  807. reason why Unitarianism became a thing. They were trying to

  808. dance around these passages of how like how is Yahweh

  809. sending Yahweh into the world to give give messages to

  810. people and wrestle with people and all of this. And

  811. so the sort of language that they used at the

  812. time was two powers. And in Hebrew that term is

  813. rashood and it comes from a word ray sheet or

  814. bear sheet. As we see in the scriptures, we also

  815. see these passages of Jesus being called the beginning, the beginning.

  816. It's the same language in Hebrew. If you understand what

  817. a rare sheet is literally, it means ahead. And so

  818. when you say the beginning, you mean the head of things,

  819. the first, the one in the front. And then when

  820. you have another sense in which it means a tributary,

  821. not a tributary, a distributary of a of a river. Right,

  822. remember the garden from the Garden of Eden, the river

  823. broke into three, broken into heads. This uses that same

  824. word three heads foreheads, sorry, And and then it can

  825. be understood in the sense of power, the head of power. Right,

  826. you know that the head of a tree is the

  827. one with the power. And so if you understand that

  828. the dynamics, that the Hebrew word that's hidden between these

  829. New Testament terminology, then you can understand what the language means.

  830. Because obviously they were using a sort of analogy of

  831. like a river, like the father flows out into the

  832. son is like a distributary of the Father's essence. So

  833. the father essence flows into the sun into the spirit

  834. as in the same sense, they don't break off into

  835. say that he becomes you know, a new river or that,

  836. because that would again sound like they're a new god.

  837. There are other gods, but no, he continues to flow

  838. out from them, and he's not. You can't separate him

  839. from the essence of the Father, because he's being flows

  840. directly from him. The sort of language that the Nicie

  841. and Christians wanted to use was saying that the Father

  842. has no origin. He is the one without origin, but

  843. the son originates from the Father. The spirit originates from

  844. the Father, and.

  845. There's a sort of of that.

  846. They move outward from the Father, but the Father doesn't

  847. move out from work from anyone else. So they would

  848. use the main river. So there's like the source, the

  849. source of the river source, and then there's the distributaries.

  850. Right, gotcha, yep, Which is all very complicated way to

  851. say that. Well, that's saying the same thing that I

  852. said before. There's only one throne and he who said it,

  853. and the one that sets upon it, that's the Father.

  854. You have to call it. That's something, and we just

  855. call it father. You have to call it something. You

  856. have to call whatever's on that throne, and you have

  857. to call whatever is in this dimension on earth. You

  858. have to call it something. And if the one on

  859. the throne is the Father, you have to call the

  860. one down here son, you have.

  861. To yeah, And there's also just have to call it something.

  862. There's also just the sense it's very ancient.

  863. It's not. It wasn't just coming from the time of Jesus.

  864. It was going very far back in time.

  865. Like we have this passage that implies that the that

  866. the Yahweh is the son of the most high of

  867. el el Yon.

  868. And it's just.

  869. Because at the time they didn't believe that children were

  870. half the father and half the mother. That's why we

  871. see this language of.

  872. Seed right, right, the seed came from because because back

  873. then they believed that the woman was kind.

  874. Of like the ground that does that's exactly what and

  875. so it is seed into so in a sense that

  876. babies come from men.

  877. Babies come from men and they grow into either a

  878. boy or a girl.

  879. Yeah, and so the thought so they thought women were

  880. just the incubator of sa Yet you're right, they were

  881. the field right, So in if you're understanding in that language,

  882. then you can see why they would have been okay

  883. with this language of the son coming from the father

  884. because they're not saying that he like he needs a mother,

  885. he just was coming. He's coming from the Father's being,

  886. his essence. If you're thinking of that language, I am,

  887. in a sense in the same essence as my father,

  888. come from his being. So that's probably why they started

  889. using that language, even though now it's kind of like

  890. not the best analogy.

  891. So you know, this is a very good point. We

  892. need to break off before we get off here, because

  893. we'ret's stop. They are right, right, So why don't we

  894. call God the Holy Spirit God the Spirit? But we do, sure,

  895. I don't. I mean we do in the nice and Creed.

  896. But yeah, God the Holy Spirit, So the Holy Spirit.

  897. So there's God, the Son, got the Father, God the

  898. Holy Spirit. Oh yeah, And I'll just throw that one word.

  899. It's it's a.

  900. Short that says in Corinthians that the Spirit is the

  901. Lord second Corinthians three eighteen. It says, for this comes

  902. from the Lord, who is the Spirit. So the Spirit

  903. is also Ward, he's also divine. We don't see it

  904. as explicit as with the other passages, but we can

  905. see right in the hear that, you know, there's the

  906. same idea.

  907. M hm, all right, so you're good, Yeah, I'm done,

  908. you're of course all right. Well, any questions, any comments,

  909. of course we can talk about anything. So anything anybody

  910. wants to talk about, now is the time to do it,

  911. all right, going once, going twice, yes, Matthew, Yes, Kenth.

  912. So as you were talking, I kept getting the scripture.

  913. I believe it's Romans eleven thirty six or it says

  914. by him and through Him and.

  915. To him ms.

  916. That fit in.

  917. But the theme of the trinity there and if it does,

  918. how so yeah.

  919. We we have many passages that say that God created

  920. the universe through through Jesus, Like the Jesus is kind

  921. of like the medium through who he did, through whom

  922. he did the soap. But we can see it simply

  923. if he is the word of God. Then in Genesis one,

  924. when he when he says, let there be light, in

  925. Jesus sense yes, And so like Jesus is the voice, right,

  926. So we.

  927. Have other passages that say that the.

  928. Heavens and the earth of the work of his hands,

  929. his hands, Jesus would be the hands, right, so he

  930. would be the one who's kind of like anthropomorphically shaping

  931. universe while this Father is just speaking, he's declaring, and

  932. the Son is doing.

  933. And to extinuate that, we have to realize that Judah

  934. and Hebrew is hand. So this is why Jesus come

  935. from the tribe of Judah. You're supposed to realize that,

  936. and Jews know that. That's why Jews take such high offense,

  937. because they know that the Messiah must come through Judah,

  938. because that is God's hands. And this very principle takes

  939. you back. That's why this language is used. That what

  940. Jesus Christ did was correct what Adam corrupted. He's fixing that.

  941. We're going back to that, going back to that place.

  942. Of course, this is another can of worms that most

  943. people don't realize that is incorporated into description. And there's

  944. a nice, fancy Greek terminology for that. It's called restoration.

  945. If you don't believe in restorationist schatology, it's because you're

  946. a rejectionist. You reject God's word, and that has consequences.

  947. It will inevitably make you a preterist, for one. So

  948. thanks for bringing that out. So where do you figure

  949. in this first? And you know, let's just do this

  950. Roman's eleven thirty six. For of him and through him

  951. and to him are all things to whom be gloried

  952. forever all men. Where's God, the Holy spirit in there,

  953. he said, not know any of it, before he was replied,

  954. take no, kenneth. It says four two and are listen

  955. really carefully, four of him and through him and to him,

  956. or all things you have four through and two, four

  957. through and two.

  958. Yeah, it would probably be the two some thirty three.

  959. Verse six says by the word of the Lord, the

  960. heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth

  961. all their hosts, all their hosts. So breath here being

  962. ruoc yeah, spirit.

  963. Greek.

  964. Right, it's so hard to actually literally translate that into

  965. Hebrew because if he were to say spirit, that would

  966. mean by the spirit of his mouth. Because oh, English

  967. sucks in that regard because English is garbage. Yeah, because

  968. like in he both Hebrew and Greek the same word

  969. for wind, breath and spirit, so the same same thing.

  970. But yeah, so it's by the breath.

  971. I think that while the sun is the one who's shaping,

  972. the spirit is the one who's invigorating it, is giving

  973. it life. There's this sense of like like if the

  974. spirit were to be taken away, then they would die.

  975. That everything kind of like a navel. I think, like

  976. how the navel attached to the earth allows the navel

  977. attached to the embryo gives life to the embryo. In

  978. the same sense, it's the Holy Spirit is doing that

  979. to the world.

  980. Now, that's a good way to put it. Yeah, the

  981. Holy Spirit is the umbilical cord. That's a good way

  982. to put it. That's a really good way to put it,

  983. outside of the simple fact that the umbilical cord goes

  984. to and I don't want to don't want to cross

  985. that threshold, but I got to a female. But that

  986. would be the perfect you know, perfect and give God

  987. his chosen pronouns.

  988. Hey, I'm not I'm not barking up that, but yeah,

  989. it's the idea that you know, the mother doesn't need

  990. the embryo, right, but the embryo absolutely needs the mother.

  991. So so if you understand the the umbilical court of

  992. the nables being an extension of the mother to the child,

  993. then we can in the same sense say that you know,

  994. the Father doesn't need the universe, but the universe needs

  995. his spirit needs to be very sustained to be alive.

  996. And you get that language and all over the New

  997. Testament that you know you cannot be alive without him,

  998. without him, his death, So you haven't worked in there

  999. to the equation all right, so nobody has anything else.

1000. I guess you can praise out of her ar okay.

1001. Yahweh. Jesus Christ, please guide us into what you want

1002. us to do in the next generation, in this new

1003. era of time, a time of great darkness where the

1004. churches who have turned their back on you, Lord, whatever

1005. you want us to do to bring them back, Lord,

1006. Please help us to know what to do, what to say.

1007. Please encourage people here if they were ever struggling with

1008. this sort of idea, let it encourage them today to

1009. know who you are and what faith and trust in

1010. you means. And thank you for everything that you that

1011. you are and everything you've done for us in your

  1012. name on them.

1013. Amen and Amen until next time, lady and gentlemen, God bless,

  1014. God speed

  1015. In
