  1. Open your Bibles to John chapter 1 and meet me at verse 19.

    John 1 chapter mention

  2. John chapter 1 and verse 19.

    John 1 chapter mention

  3. And the word of the Lord says, now this is the testimony of John.

  4. When the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, who are you? Say that.

  5. Who are you?

  6. He confessed and did not deny, but confessed, I am not the Christ.

  7. And they asked him, what then? Are you Elijah? He said, I am not.

  8. Are you the prophet? And he answered, no.

  9. Then they said to him, say it with me, who are you? That we may give an answer to those who sent us.

  10. What do you say about yourself?

  11. He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, make straight the way

  12. of the Lord, as the prophet Isaiah said.

  13. Last week, we started a series and we're titling it, Who Are You?

  14. Who are you? And in this passage, we see the priests and the Levites are challenging

  15. the identity of John the Baptist.

  16. They're asking him, Who are you? And I like that he knows who he is.

  17. He says, I am the voice crying in the wilderness.

  18. And if we look at Acts chapter 19, let's look at verse 15.

    Acts 19 chapter mention

  19. Acts chapter 19 and verse 15, it says, and the evil spirit answered.

    Acts 19 chapter mention

  20. Notice an evil spirit is talking.

  21. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know and Paul I know, But who are you?

  22. And so notice this evil spirit is asking for the identity of you and I.

  23. The evil spirit is saying, I know Jesus, I know Paul, but I have no idea who you are.

  24. And so I believe in the society and the culture that we live in,

  25. people have a hard time discovering who they are.

  26. In this culture that we're in, people are so connected to their experiences.

  27. They feel like they are their past.

  28. They feel like they are their sexuality. They feel like they are their color.

  29. People feel like they are their gender. Some people don't even know what their gender is.

  30. People are so caught up in politics and they're more aligned with being a Republican

  31. and more in line with being a Democrat or even an independent than they are

  32. being in the body of Christ.

  33. People are so caught up in the opinions of other people.

  34. I am who Ray Ray says I am. I am who my grandma says I am.

  35. I am who my absentee father says I am.

  36. And that's not who you are.

  37. It's important to line up your identity with the way God views you.

  38. Who you are has to line up with who God said you are.

  39. And so if you want to discover and identify who you are, you're going to have

  40. to ask the creator who you are.

  41. And he'll tell you who you are because he doesn't create anything by accident.

  42. Everything he creates is on purpose and for a purpose.

  43. And so the culturally event says you are whatever you feel you are.

  44. If you're tired, then you feel tired. Well, I am tired.

  45. But you're actually strong.

  46. Because scripture said, let the weak say what? I'm strong. So we're going to

  47. have to line up what we think we are to who God says we are,

  48. and then we'll get the results that we are looking for.

  49. And so people define you according to your past or your behavior,

  50. but that's not how God defines you.

  51. You don't have to invent your identity.

  52. In Christ, you simply receive it.

  53. You don't have to invent who you are. In Christ, you simply receive it.

  54. And you will never fully understand who you are until you understand who you are in Christ.

  55. Who you are in Christ is the truth regarding who you are, not how you feel,

  56. not what your past says about you, not what you experience, not what other people are saying.

  57. It's who God says you are.

  58. And you can find out a lot about yourself when you get in the word of God and discover who you are.

  59. This Bible is a mirror.

  60. You can look into the mirror and discover, find out, search, research who you are.

  61. And last week we said in Christ that we are a new creation.

  62. That means old things have passed away. We're not simply a recent creation.

  63. We're not simply the latest creation.

  64. We're a new creation, meaning we're unheard of. We're original.

  65. We're unprecedented. We're unused.

  66. God has created us like no one else. And in Him, we are brand new.

  67. And because His mercies are new every day, you and I are a new creation every

  68. single day. Say amen to that.

  69. Every time you wake up, you're brand new.

  70. You are fresh. You are original because he's not giving you what you deserve.

  71. You're new today, and you need to understand that. You are not who yesterday says you are.

  72. Someone you need to forget about yesterday and don't let yesterday hold on to you.

  73. You need to press forward into today because you're a brand-new creation in

  74. Christ Jesus, and God has a purpose for you today. Say amen to that.

  75. Now today I want to go a little further Let's go to John chapter 1 And meet

    John 1 chapter mention

  76. me at verse 35 We're going to read the scriptures today Is that okay?

  77. John chapter 1 verse 35,

    John 1:35

  78. Hallelujah. When you get it, say amen.

  79. All right. John 31. I'm sorry. John chapter 1, verse 35. Take a look here.

    John 1:35

  80. Again, the next day John stood with two of his disciples and looking at Jesus

  81. as he walked, he said, behold the lamb of God.

  82. The two disciples heard him speak and they followed Jesus.

  83. Then Jesus turned and seeing them following said to them, what do you seek?

  84. They said to him, Rabbi, which is to say, which is translated teacher,

  85. where are you staying? Somebody say, where are you from?

  86. And he said to them, come and see. And they came and saw where he was staying

  87. and he remained with him that day.

  88. Now it was about the 10th hour. Jump with me to verse 43 for the sake of time.

  89. Verse 43, the following day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee and he found Philip

  90. and said to him follow me now Philip was from where are you from?

  91. Philip was from Bethsaida.

  92. And the city of Andrew and Peter, Philip found Nathanael and said to him,

  93. We have found him of whom Moses and the law and also the prophets wrote Jesus

  94. of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

  95. And Nathanael said to him, Can anything good come out of Nazareth?

  96. What I want you to notice here in this passage of Scripture is Jesus is walking around.

  97. The disciples, John's disciples, see who he is. They ask him, where are you from?

  98. He said, come and see. Then all of a sudden, one of the disciples here,

  99. he says to him, can anything good come out of Nazareth?

  100. The point I want to make to you today is where you are from is very critical to who you are.

  101. Where you're from cannot be separated from who you are.

  102. I had a meeting today with Mark

  103. here on the front row, and Mark and I hung out, and he told me his story.

  104. Amazing testimony. Maybe one day you guys get a chance to hear it.

  105. Amazing testimony. But he told me he's from Hampton, Virginia,

  106. right outside of Newport News, okay?

  107. When he told me that, I knew a lot about him.

  108. That meant Newport News is rough.

  109. That meant he grew up in a poverty environment. That meant there was a lot of

  110. drugs around, a lot of fighting, a lot of alcohol.

  111. It was a rough area. So when I found out where he was from, I found out a lot about him.

  112. See, where you are from, I was born in Oxford, Mississippi.

  113. So when you hear that, you probably, okay, he was in a poor state,

  114. one of the poorest states in the United States, right?

  115. I'm from Southern, right? That's what you get. Now, you're finding out a lot

  116. about me from where I'm from. But I grew up in California.

  117. So what does that tell you? Probably a free spirit, you know?

  118. You know, likes to have fun. All these other things that come with where you are from.

  119. And you cannot separate who you are from where you're from.

  120. Where you are from is an integral part of who you are.

  121. When you, where you are from gives you a sense of self-respect.

  122. You know, people, they like to talk about where they're from.

  123. When you want to get to know someone, what is the first question you ask them?

  124. Hey, how are you? What's your name? My name is Billy Bob. Where are you from?

  125. Why do we ask that right away?

  126. Because that, the answer to that question allows us to determine who that person is.

  127. Danika's from Maryland. That tells me a lot about who she is. Why?

  128. Because who you are cannot be separated from where you're from.

  129. Now let's go to John chapter three.

  130. Meet me at verse one. John chapter three, verse one.

  131. There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.

  132. This man came to Jesus, watch this, by night and said to him,

  133. teacher, we know that you are a teacher come from God.

  134. For no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.

  135. Jesus answered and said, most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, say born again.

  136. He cannot see the kingdom of God.

  137. Nicodemus said to him, how can a man be born when he is old?

  138. Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?

  139. Jesus answered, surely I say to you, unless one is born of water and the spirit,

  140. he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

  141. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

  142. Do you not marvel that I said to you, you must be born again?

  143. The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it,

  144. but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes.

  145. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.

  146. Now let's break this critical conversation down.

  147. The Nicodemus is a ruler, a leader, respected of the Jews. He understands that

  148. Jesus is from God. He says, these miracles and these teachings, you are not from here.

  149. You are from God. And Jesus says to him, listen, you must be born again.

  150. And if you are born again, you cannot even see. Unless you're born again,

  151. you can't even see the kingdom of God. I'll come back to that.

  152. And Nicodemus says to him, wait a minute, wait a minute. How can a man be born

  153. twice in his mother's womb? That sounds nasty.

  154. But that's what Nicodemus heard. He heard second birth. Okay.

  155. But what Jesus said was born again. Now, if you look up this word born again,

  156. it means born from above.

  157. New birth from above. And so Jesus is saying you must be born from above.

  158. If you are not born from above, you can't even see the kingdom of God.

  159. Now, when you are born from above, that is a spiritual rebirth,

  160. and you're born into the family of God. Praise God.

  161. We become part of the body of Christ, and our assignment is the kingdom of God.

  162. And so we're born into the body of Christ on the assignment of spreading this kingdom message.

  163. God is the kingdom. Kingdom is king's domain.

  164. God is the king and his domain includes you and I and our job is to spread the

  165. gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and create new citizens for the kingdom of God

  166. and God being our father.

  167. You can't even see your assignment.

  168. Unless you are born from above. Say born from above.

  169. Say it again, born from above. And then he goes on to say, you know,

  170. I like what he says in verse 5. He said, unless one is born of water,

  171. that means physical birth, or born of the spirit, which is spiritual birth.

  172. He says, you can't even enter the kingdom of God. So you must be born from above.

  173. In order to enter into the kingdom of God.

  174. Jesus is from above. We are in him. So therefore, you and I are from above.

  175. We are born from above. Say amen to that.

  176. Stacey and I were dating, and many of you know my story. I met Stacey at a church,

  177. and she hollered at me, you know?

  178. I mean, she, you know, she couldn't help herself, you know what I mean?

  179. And so she made me a sweet potato pie, you know, and handed it to me after one of the services.

  180. Church I was at, the pastor would ask me to speak on occasion, and I got done speaking.

  181. And next thing I know, I have a sweet potato pie in my hand.

  182. And I'm not really a big sweet potato pie fan, but I ate the whole pie in one sitting.

  183. I don't eat like that either. Now, I like to eat, but not like that.

  184. I ate the entire pie watching some football.

  185. And I was like, my goodness, wow. Now, her prayer was, and she told me this

  186. after we got married. Somebody say after. After.

  187. Her prayer was when she made the sweet potato pie was, if he's the one,

  188. let him eat the entire pie. Amen.

  189. And I ate the whole pie. Now, yeah, but you can give the Lord some praise for that.

  190. Now, if she would have told me that beforehand, I would have thought, spooky pookie, okay?

  191. And I would have took off running. But she told me that after we got married.

  192. But nevertheless, she introduced herself with the sweet potato pie.

  193. And I imagine I said to her, well, you know, maybe we can go out on a Sunday

  194. after church and grab some lunch. And just, you know, get to,

  195. because I didn't know her, get to know you a little bit. I'd seen her around,

  196. but didn't really know her.

  197. And she said, Friday or Saturday night.

  198. I said, those are date nights, you know. I can't do Sunday after church.

  199. It's Friday or Saturday. So we picked the Friday or Saturday night.

  200. She's, you know, she's recruiting me, you know what I mean?

  201. And she picked, we picked the night. I remember we went to Olive Garden and

  202. we had a good time. And she asked me, one of the first questions she asked me was, where are you from?

  203. After I had asked her that question, et cetera.

  204. And I told her, I'm from above. She looked at me like, this dude is crazy.

  205. I said, I am from heaven. He is crazy.

  206. And I told her I was born in Mississippi, raised in California,

  207. moved to Texas, et cetera.

  208. But I wanted her to know I was from above. Why?

  209. Because we need to start connecting with our real identity.

  210. We're not from here. We're from above. Say, I'm from above.

  211. If we look at John chapter 3, verse 31, John chapter 3, verse 31,

    John 3:31 John 3:31

  212. remember, we are in Christ. He who comes from above, that's you and I, is above all.

  213. And he who was of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth.

  214. He who comes from heaven, say, that's me, is above all.

  215. So you are above any challenge, any hindrance, any circumstance,

  216. any difficulty, any pain.

  217. You are above it all. You are the head and not the tail.

  218. You are above and not beneath. Not because you look so good,

  219. but because you've been born from above.

  220. And because you're born from above, I can tell you a little about yourself.

  221. See, when I met with Mark and he told me where he was from, I knew a little

  222. bit about him. Now that you're from above, I know a little bit about you.

  223. What do I know about you? I know that you have a God who will never leave you nor forsake you.

  224. I know that he is a provider and will always take care of you.

  225. I know that you are a citizen of heaven. Philippians 3 verse 20 says,

    Philippians 3:20

  226. you are a citizen of heaven.

  227. So I know that all your needs are provided for.

  228. I know that you have wisdom beyond your years. I know that you have understanding,

  229. and you walk in the power of God.

  230. I know where you're from, and

  231. I know a lot about you when I know where you're from. Say amen to that.

  232. John 8, verse 23. John 8, verse 23. And Jesus said to them, you are from beneath.

    John 8:23 John 8:23

  233. I am from above. You are of this world.

  234. I am not of this world. How many of you have ever heard people say,

  235. I'm in the world, but not of the world?

  236. So you and I are in the world, but we're not from here. Stop acting like this world is your home.

  237. I know that the political environment is very polarizing.

  238. But there are too many people that's acting like the United States is their home.

  239. They're acting like the Republicans are their savior or the Democrats are their savior.

  240. You're not from here. Jesus wasn't a politician.

  241. I didn't say don't vote.

  242. I said you're not from here.

  243. We need to start getting and and and pulling and and what's the word i'm looking

  244. for grabbing our our identity from who we are in him and we are from above,

  245. we are not from here we are here on an assignment so all these worries these

  246. concerns that you have know that they're all temporary because you're here on

  247. assignment know that god's going to take care of you you you weren't born here.

  248. You were born from above, and he's going to take care of you because you are

  249. with him, and he is with you.

  250. You are in him, and he is in you. This is your identity, not how much money

  251. you make. That's not your identity.

  252. Not if you're married or single. That's not your identity. Not if you're a mother or not a mother.

  253. That's not your identity. Your identity is, I am from above. Say that.

  254. I am from above. Say it again.

  255. Say it one more time like you mean him. I am,

  256. from above. You are from above. You are a new creation. Who are you?

  257. I'm from above. Somebody walks up to you. Who are you? I'm from above.

  258. Say that. I'm from above.

  259. I'm not from here. I am from above. You got challenges and problems.

  260. These things are temporary because I'm not from here.

  261. I have access to excess. Come on, say amen to that.

  262. God can get anything to me from anyone, anywhere, at any time.

  263. I'm from above, glory to God.

  264. I'm not from this world. I am from above. Look at 1 Peter chapter 1,

    1 Peter 1 chapter mention

  265. 3 through 4. 1 Peter chapter 1, 3 through 4. We're going to read this from the Amplified Bible.

    1 Peter 1 chapter mention

  266. Blessed, grateful, praised, and adored be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

  267. who according to his abundant and boundless mercy, he's not giving you what

  268. you deserve, has caused us to be born again. Now watch this.

  269. That is to be reborn from above, spiritually transformed, renewed,

  270. and set apart for his purpose.

  271. Hallelujah. Say amen to that.

  272. So to be born again means you are reborn from above. You are spiritually transformed.

  273. You are renewed and you are set apart for his purpose to an ever-living hope

  274. and confident assurance through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

  275. Born anew into an inheritance which is imperishable beyond the reach of change

  276. and undefiled and unfading reserved in heaven

  277. for you. Come on, say amen to that.

  278. You're not from here. You have been born again.

  279. And like I said, Nicodemus heard born a second time.

  280. No, that's not what Jesus meant. Jesus meant you must experience a spiritual birth the first time.

  281. There must be a new birth again.

  282. And you must receive it. And Nicodemus is like, well, how does that make sense?

  283. I mean, how can someone enter into their mother's womb a second time?

  284. And Jesus says, just as the wind blows, and you don't know how the wind blows.

  285. Meaning you don't have to understand everything.

  286. All you have to do is just receive it. Come on, somebody say, I receive it.

  287. You don't have to understand it all. I don't understand how I turn my ignition and the car starts.

  288. I have no understanding. I don't even want to understand how that happens.

  289. As a matter of fact, I said turn my ignition. Now it's the push button, right?

  290. All I got to do is push it. Oh, I learned something new too about the push button.

  291. You're just simply supposed to push it.

  292. You're not supposed to hold it. I was taught that. Push it. All right?

  293. If you hold it, it'll mess up the starter.

  294. So the push button means what? Push. Okay, y'all didn't know y'all gonna get

  295. that today. But that's free. That's free.

  296. You just, so now I'd be racing when I'd be like, whoop, see how fast I can do

  297. it. Whoop, and that thing'd be starting right up, right?

  298. Listen, I don't understand how that works. I don't care to understand how it works.

  299. But it works. And all I do is just receive the benefits of it working. Say amen.

  300. I don't understand how the Lord somehow causes my spirit to be brand new and

  301. that dead spirit's gone. And now there's a brand new spirit and it's unprecedented and unheard of.

  302. I don't know how all that works.

  303. I don't have to know how it all works. All I got to do is simply receive it.

  304. Stacey and I were in Savannah, and there were some big cargo boats.

  305. I'm talking about, I don't know how many tons, I don't want to lie to you, but it was huge.

  306. I don't know how that big old boat floats on the water.

  307. And going to Morocco, I was looking up to, where's this boat going?

  308. This one going to Morocco, okay.

  309. I was looking it up, I don't know why, I was just curious. Where's it going?

  310. I don't know how it was going. I don't know why it's taking 10 days to get there.

  311. I don't care, just bring me my stuff when I order it, amen?

  312. That's all I care about. I need it to come on time, right?

  313. Jesus is telling Nicodemus, don't worry about how, just receive it.

  314. Say, I'm born from above.

  315. Say it again, I'm from above. That means you're spiritually transformed,

  316. and it's time for you and I to renew our minds to what our spirit really is.

  317. You are a three-part being. Did you know that?

  318. You are a three part being you are a spirit that's who you are that's the new

  319. part of you your spirit man has never sinned.

  320. The real you, your spirit, whom you and I have never seen, we've only seen our body.

  321. I'm not seeing your spirit. But did you know I can feel your spirit before I even talk to you?

  322. Have you ever walked in a room and felt someone's spirit? You didn't even say

  323. nothing to them, but you could just feel their spirit?

  324. Because your spirit is bigger than your body.

  325. The body is fighting hard to contain your spirit on the inside.

  326. It's so big. You can feel.

  327. I go preach different places. I can feel. Are people receptive to me or are

  328. they not? I can just feel it. I don't have to say nothing. My spirit can feel it.

  329. And then there are times I go somewhere and they're just hungry for it and I

  330. can feel it by my spirit because that's the real you.

  331. You have a soul which consists of your mind, your will, and your emotions.

  332. It's your thinker, your chooser, and how you feel.

  333. This is your soul. And you live in this body. Some of us are different.

  334. There are only two genders, by the way.

  335. There are two genders, male and female. And we live in a body.

  336. And the body is not who we are.

  337. The spirit is who we are. And we live in this body.

  338. And our mind, which is our emotions and our will and our desire,

  339. our thinker, our chooser, has to line up with who your spirit is.

  340. This is why you have to be renewed in your mind.

  341. So who you really are and who you think you are needs to be synonymous.

  342. Because who you really are and who you think you are, for the most part, is different.

  343. Well, I don't think I'm enough. I don't think I'm adequate enough.

  344. Have you ever heard of imposter syndrome?

  345. Where you're doing a good job, but you just think you're worthless?

  346. And you think nobody cares and you think that you're a phony and a fake?

  347. That's imposter syndrome. No, who you are and who you think you are needs to line up.

  348. And this is why we're talking about this, because I want you to know who you are.

  349. You are transformed. You are renewed. You are set apart for his purpose.

  350. And you are born from above. Say amen.

  351. John chapter 1, verse 12 through 13. Let's read this. John chapter 1,

John 1:12–13 John 1 chapter mention

  352. 12 through 13. Y'all getting something out of today.

  353. But as many as received him, watch this. he gave them the right to become children of God.

  354. So the right or the authority, as many as what? Received him.

  355. He gave them the authority to become children of God to those who believe in his name.

  356. Verse 13, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh,

  357. nor of the will of man, but of God.

  358. So what is Jesus, what is John telling us here in John chapter 1?

    John 1 chapter mention

  359. He's saying to us that as many of us, you and I, as have received him.

  360. Somebody say, I receive him.

  361. As many as us have received him, we were one born of blood. That means first

  362. we had to be physically born.

  363. But notice he said here, but you were not born of the flesh,

  364. which is of human passion.

  365. So you were not born of the will of the flesh of human passion or of the will

  366. of man, which is human plans.

  367. And so we all fall into this category is how we got on the earth.

  368. Either somebody was very, very passionate and they got together and they created

  369. you and I, or there was a plan. We're going to have a baby, right? We're going to plan.

  370. The words here are saying, you're not simply born physically of the passion

  371. or of the plan, but you were born of God.

  372. Now that word of means from.

  373. So you were born from God. So God birthed you.

  374. So you're not here by accident.

  375. You're not here because somebody made a mistake and you was an oopsie or you

  376. were from a rape or you came and nobody wanted you. I don't care what your mama

  377. said. I didn't want you. I don't care.

  378. You were born from God.

  379. You just got to start seeing it. Who am I? God wanted me to get here.

  380. I was birthed from the spiritual birth. Had to come physically,

  381. but there was a spiritual birth that took place, and it was from him. So I am him.

  382. I am here because of him, and I received that spiritual birth.

  383. Therefore, I have a right to become children of God. We may talk about that

  384. next week, but you are a child of God. Who are you?

  385. I'm born from above, and I'm a child of God.

  386. You're not just, well, I'm just a nobody trying to tell everybody about somebody

  387. who can save anybody. That's not who you are.

  388. You are from God. Say, I'm from God.

  389. Say, I was born from God.

  390. That's who you are.

  391. That's who you are. I'm from God.

  392. Think about that. You're going to work. Well, I'm just going in here and trying

  393. to get these nickel and dime, trying to get these eight hours done,

  394. or I'm just going to school, just trying to get this, can't wait till I graduate,

  395. can't wait till I get out of here, just trying to get things done.

  396. No, I'm born from God, and I'm here by assignment for kingdom purpose,

  397. and I'm here to share the love of God and the kingdom of God. This is why I'm here.

  398. Yes, I need to make good grades and yes, I need to work hard.

  399. But my purpose is I'm here because God sent me here.

  400. Are you listening to me? You need to start thinking you just I'm just I'm just,

  401. I'm you know, I'm weak and I'm frail and and nothing good ever happens.

  402. No, I've been born of God, and he specifically chose me to be right here,

  403. right now for a purpose.

  404. And we'll get into purpose in this series as well. The purpose is the reason why you exist.

  405. Everything was created for a purpose. The chairs you're sitting in right now,

  406. they were created so you can sit in them right now. And are they comfortable?

  407. Because we pay good money so you can sit in comfortable chairs. Amen?

  408. For a purpose. We're all here on purpose for a purpose. Now watch this, 1 John chapter 5.

    1 John 5 chapter mention

  409. 1 John chapter 5, look at verse 4.

    1 John 5 chapter mention

  410. For whatever is born of God, say that's me, overcomes the world. Glory to God.

  411. And this is the victory that has overcome the world, our faith.

  412. So notice here, keep that on the screen for a second, guys. Notice this,

  413. whatever is born of God, who's been born of God?

  414. Me, right? So me, you, me have been born of God. what happens to you and I that

  415. is born of God, we actually overcome.

  416. So who are you? I'm an overcomer.

  417. Are you listening to me today? Who are you? I'm an overcomer.

  418. What does overcome mean? I have the victory.

  419. Who are you? I'm victorious. Who are you? I'm an overcomer. Why?

  420. Not because you look good, not because you smell good, but because you've been born of God.

  421. And because you've been born of God, this is your victory.

  422. You overcome any obstacle that the world will throw at you.

  423. In this world, you will have tribulation.

  424. But be of good cheer, Jesus said, I have overcome the world.

  425. Well, guess who else is an overcomer? You and me. Amen.

  426. We are overcomers because, come on, give the Lord some praise for that.

  427. Don't patty cake him. Clap like you mean it.

  428. Thank you, Kurt. And so,

  429. whatever is born of God, that's you and me, we're overcomers.

  430. You are victorious. Say this, I am victorious.

  431. I am an overcomer.

  432. No weapon formed against me shall prosper because you've been born of God. You are in him.

  433. He is in you. He birthed you.

  434. Glory to God. And you've been born of him. Therefore, you are an overcomer.

  435. Stop saying this is overcoming me.

  436. I've been overcome with the flu. That's actually not the truth.

  437. The truth is you are an overcomer through him.

  438. And you are stronger than the flu. And so here's what we say when that flu thing

  439. tries to jump on us or any of our kids, we talk to the flu,

  440. we say flu you gotta flee in Jesus name return to sender in the name of Jesus why we are overcomers,

  441. and we overcome the world and guess what I never saw Jesus did you and I'm in him.

  442. And he's in me. So that sickness must what? Flee.

  443. Because whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory. I'm victorious.

  444. I don't know. Sometimes I don't know how I'm going to do something.

  445. I'll say I'm an overcomer. How are you going to handle that situation? I'm an overcomer.

  446. How are you going to deal with that? That's it. I'm victorious.

  447. I, because he's in me and I'm in him. Remember last week we said that we are actually hidden in him.

  448. We're hidden in him. So whatever happens for and with him happens for and with me too. Amen.

  449. And so we are overcomers. Who are you?

  450. An overcomer. Who are you? Victorious. Born from above.

  451. Old things have passed away. All things have become new. I'll wrap it up with

  452. this one. in Colossians 3, 2 and the Amplified.

  453. Colossians 3, 2 and the Amplified. Set your mind and keep focused habitually,

  454. that means make it a habit, on the things above,

  455. the heavenly things, not on the things that are on the earth which have only temporal value.

  456. Notice you and I are supposed to keep our minds and our thoughts and our attention

  457. and our focus on things above. What does that mean? Heavenly things.

  458. Remember where you're from.

  459. I used to work a particular job, and this particular job had per diem.

  460. How many of you know what per diem is? It's simply money they use to give you

  461. to eat or do some other things, depending on what they lined out.

  462. And this job had per diem because they had me working for a week all day and most of the night.

  463. And so they would provide us with per diem.

  464. And so you find a moment to stop. You didn't have to find any money.

  465. You had the money. You just go get it.

  466. And I started thinking, you and I are here on the earth, listen to me now, on pre diem.

  467. If you're from above and God is taking care of you, then we're here on pre diem.

  468. We ain't got to worry about money.

  469. Listen to me now. We ain't got to worry about anything because we are from above.

  470. And above is going to take care of everything we need here on the earth. Amen.

  471. I'm from above. I went to Thailand and spent some time in Thailand.

  472. And it was a mission trip. Thailand's a beautiful country, by the way.

  473. But the people are precious. And I went on a trip and I exchanged my money for Thai money.

  474. And the Thai money looked like Monopoly money.

  475. Right? So I was giving it away. I mean, I was handing it to folks.

  476. A lot of poor people there.

  477. And I'm giving a hand and I ran out of money.

  478. I mean, gone.

  479. Did I go get a job?

  480. Did I say, I need to work at this Thailand restaurant right here because I ran?

  481. Did I do that? What did I do? I just called what?

  482. I called headquarters. I called home.

  483. I said, send me some more money. I didn't ran out of money. Amen? I'm not from Thailand.

  484. Are y'all getting this? I'm from above.

  485. So I called home. Home, my mind was on heavenly things. It didn't say I need to go get a job.

  486. I need to go over here and go pimping. I didn't have to do none of that.

  487. I'm from above. So I called home and said, send some money.

  488. And the money came. Amen? Why? Because I wasn't from Thailand.

  489. I was from somewhere else.

  490. And they provided for me.

  491. We are to keep our minds. Colossians 3, 2. Once again, set your mind and keep

  492. focused habitually on the things above,

  493. the heavenly things, not on the things that are on the earth,

  494. which have only temporal value. Say, I'm from above.

  495. So that means you're going to have to set your mind.

  496. Make sure your thoughts. You know you can control what you're thinking about?

  497. You can't control thoughts coming to you But you can control what you think about,

  498. And so start setting your mind

  499. I'm from above I'll say this sometimes when bills come God, you got mail.

  500. Why? I call headquarters. You got mail. Amen.

  501. I'm not from here. I'm on assignment. I'm doing what God's called me to do.

  502. And so therefore I'm doing what he's called me to do.

  503. He has promised to take care of you and I.

  504. If it's something you don't know what to do, if it's some temptation that you

  505. don't know how to overcome, remind yourself, I'm a new creation in Christ.

  506. And you know what, Because I'm a new creation in Christ, I don't need,

  507. I don't, I don't, I'm going to flee from this temptation.

  508. What does flee mean? Run.

  509. I'm going to run from the temptation because my spirit man doesn't want to be a part of it.

  510. Now your soul and your body do, but you got to remind your soul,

  511. I'm a new creation in Christ.

  512. I'm from above. Amen. And I don't want to have to deal with this earthly mess.

  513. I don't have time for that because I'm from above. Say amen.

  514. This is how you experience true life.
