  1. Foreign.

  2. This morning we're going to be in Acts chapter 10.

    Acts 10 chapter mention

  3. I'm going to be preaching a message called There is more.

  4. If you have a Bible, if you have an iPhone, we're going to jump

  5. into Acts chapter 10.

    Acts 10 chapter mention

  6. If you don't know me personally.

  7. So good to meet you.

  8. My name is Jeremiah Johnson.

  9. I'm the apostolic leader of the Altar Church, the global movement

  10. in Charlotte, North Carolina, traveling around and just really

  11. extending the kingdom.

  12. I really do believe that this summer.

  13. Can you say this summer?

  14. This summer is a summer of greater encounters.

  15. I'm so grateful for the encounter that I had when I met Jesus

  16. years ago.

  17. But I truly believe that there is fresh oil in the secret place

  18. and every day that we live.

  19. And this morning, we're going to be looking at an encounter that

  20. Peter had in the book of Acts, where the Lord began to take him

  21. from one experience to another.

  22. I'm going to pray for us this morning.

  23. But I just want to make clear that the greatest hindrance to a

  24. next encounter in God is thinking you've already had it.

  25. The greatest hindrance to a next encounter in God is thinking

  26. you've already had it.

  27. You might be like me, you grew up in the church or you've had some

  28. kind of religious experience.

  29. But there is a difference between knowing about God and knowing

  30. God.

  31. There is a difference between quoting scripture but then meeting

  32. the man Jesus, who lives between the lines of Scripture.

  33. A lot of people say, I know the Bible.

  34. My question is, does the Bible know you?

  35. And so we're going to believe this morning here in New Jersey and

  36. all across the V1 family.

  37. Fresh encounters.

  38. Amen.

  39. Father, thank you for this time.

  40. In your word, Holy Spirit, release a spirit of wisdom and revelation

  41. in the knowledge of who you are.

  42. Lord, open up your word to us.

  43. In Jesus name I pray.

  44. Amen.

  45. So Acts 1 through 9, a lot of people are familiar with Acts 2 Pentecost.

  46. Jesus told his disciples to wait into the upper room for the

  47. promise of the Father, where they would receive the baptism of

  48. the Holy Spirit, where they begin to speak in other tongues.

  49. They are leading a New Testament church, a new family of

  50. believers.

  51. And Acts 1 through 9, they've seen the dead raised, they've seen

  52. the lame walk, they have seen Stephen stoned, they have seen Saul

  53. turn to Paul.

  54. A lot of tremendous Holy Spirit activity.

  55. And because Peter walked with Jesus and he's leading, he's kind

  56. of a veteran.

  57. He is the most experienced.

  58. But yet In Acts chapter 10, God is about to challenge him that

    Acts 10 chapter mention

  59. there is more.

  60. So Acts chapter 10, verse 1.

    Acts 10:1

  61. There was a certain man at Caesarea named Cornelius, a centurion

  62. of what was called the Italian Cohort.

  63. He was a devout man, one who feared God with all his household

  64. and gave alms to the Jewish people.

  65. He prayed to God continually.

  66. About the ninth hour of the day, he sees in a vision an angel

  67. of God who.

  68. Who comes to him and says, cornelius.

  69. Cornelius gazed at this angel, looking alarmed, and said, what is

  70. it, Lord?

  71. And he said, you, prayers and alms have ascended as a memorial

  72. before God.

  73. Now dispatch some men to Joppa and send for a man named Simon, who

  74. is also called Peter.

  75. He's staying with a certain tanner named Simon, whose house is

  76. by the sea.

  77. And when an angel who was speaking to him had departed, he

  78. summoned to his servants, and I'm going to paraphrase here for

  79. a minute, but Cornelius sends his servants to go meet Peter.

  80. And when they find Peter, he's up on a rooftop and he's praying.

  81. And in verse 10, it says that Peter becomes hungry.

  82. He wants something to eat.

  83. While he's desiring something to eat, he falls into a trance, or

  84. we might say, a vision.

  85. And in this vision, he sees the sky opened up, and he sees a

  86. white sheet come down.

  87. And on the sheet there are four footed creatures and animals

  88. and birds of the sky.

  89. And in verse 13, he hears a voice that says, arise, Peter.

  90. Kill and eat Peter.

  91. And Peter's response, he doesn't say something like, yes,

  92. Lord, I already knew that was coming.

  93. I've been around the block.

  94. I followed Jesus.

  95. In verse 13, he says, Never, Lord.

  96. I have never eaten anything unclean.

  97. And he hears a voice speak to him three times.

  98. It's important that we recognize the last time Peter was

  99. in an upper room, it was Acts 2.

  100. And in Acts 2, he sees tongues of fire.

  101. But now in Acts 10, when he's in another upper room encounter,

  102. he doesn't see tongues of fire.

  103. He sees a white sheet.

  104. And my point is this.

  105. Too often we miss what God is doing today because we want a repeat

  106. performance of.

  107. Of what he did yesterday.

  108. I believe that Peter is struggling with a fresh invitation

  109. for a new encounter with God because he is more focused on what's

  110. familiar rather than on what's fresh.

  111. And I believe this summer at V1 Church, and really all across

  112. the earth, that God is inviting people into next level encounters.

  113. We might have experienced him and beheld him in a certain way,

  114. but we are in a new era in the church where no one is safe from

  115. the love of God.

  116. As much as I desire to See God move corporately.

  117. I want to see him move in the marketplace as much as I believe

  118. God for a move of God.

  119. When we get together at church, I want to see God take crack

  120. houses and send revival there.

  121. Right?

  122. I want to see school systems.

  123. I want to see the government.

  124. I want to see every sphere of society invaded for a next level

  125. encounter.

  126. And I'm so grateful for the Sunday gathering.

  127. We need more Sunday gatherings.

  128. But if what happens here doesn't translate to Monday to Saturday,

  129. we're just having a pep rally.

  130. We're just having good church.

  131. And for some of you this morning, you need a paradigm shift.

  132. Peter needs a paradigm shift.

  133. He needs a new way to think.

  134. He needs a new understanding concerning the kingdom of God.

  135. And for so long, for so many people who grew up in church, we

  136. have this routine down, but yet our marriage is struggling.

  137. We go through the motions playing church, but yet we don't

  138. have a fresh fire on the altars of our hearts.

  139. So there's a fresh encounter that God has for Peter.

  140. I believe that there's a fresh encounter for those of us who are

  141. here in New Jersey, in Miami, in India, and all across the earth.

  142. And one of the things that's just been stirring in my heart is

  143. listen.

  144. If God would come to Peter, a revival veteran, a man who had been

  145. with Jesus, a man who had seen it all, if God would still come and

  146. knock on his door in Acts 10 and say, There is more, surely there's

  147. none of us who are so prideful to believe that we own the street

  148. corner on revival.

  149. Surely there's none of us that are so prideful to think, well, I've

  150. seen it all.

  151. I've heard it all.

  152. I know it all.

  153. No, this is a season where ears haven't heard and eyes haven't

  154. seen.

  155. Our minds have not conceived what God has for those who love him

  156. and listen.

  157. This is where the breaker comes in.

  158. Because the breaker comes.

  159. The anointing, Anointing of the Holy Spirit comes and it breaks

  160. the yoke.

  161. The resistance that we feel in the atmosphere this morning, it's

  162. religion.

  163. The.

  164. The resistance that we feel is.

  165. It's routine.

  166. It's going through the motions.

  167. It's quoting scripture, but the scripture doesn't have hold of

  168. you.

  169. It's saying, I went to church.

  170. But apparently church didn't follow you to the club on Friday

  171. night, right?

  172. We're talking about lifestyle, Christianity.

  173. We're talking about inviting the Holy Spirit into every sphere

  174. of our lives.

  175. We're talking about what you see is what you get.

  176. God is driving hypocrisy out of the church today.

  177. He's ripping off the mass.

  178. He's the same God as yesterday, today and forever.

  179. He's the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

  180. He's the God of New Jersey.

  181. He's the God of New York.

  182. He's the God of every city in America.

  183. And he is knocking on the doors of hearts today saying, will

  184. you let me in?

  185. Will you let me confront your pride?

  186. Will you let me break through your religious routine?

  187. And I know for me, one of the ways I can measure religiosity is

  188. when's the last time I've cried?

  189. Do you know that fresh tears and prayer and worship are an indicator

  190. of a soft heart toward God?

  191. When's the last time we just broke out of the box?

  192. When's the last time we forgave someone who wronged us?

  193. People are like, well, well, what is it?

  194. Well, anger and bitterness and unforgiveness.

  195. These are the things that grieve and quench the Holy Spirit.

  196. For some of us, this fresh encounter this summer is forgiving

  197. our enemies.

  198. For some of us this summer, my wife and I, we have three girls and

  199. a boy.

  200. Obviously they're out of school routines and things.

  201. We're saying, you know what?

  202. This summer we're going to have a family worship night every

  203. week.

  204. I've got one daughter who's flagging.

  205. I got one daughter who's on the piano.

  206. I got my boy Israel on the gym bay.

  207. We're worshiping, we're praying, we're breaking it open.

  208. But guess what?

  209. The same family who stewards something privately at home is the

  210. same family who shows up on Sunday because there's fresh encounters

  211. that God has for.

  212. For us.

  213. When you look at this encounter that Peter has for more,

  214. he's seeing tongues of fire.

  215. Now he's seeing a white sheet come down.

  216. And there are four footed creatures and there are animals.

  217. And what God is trying to say to Peter theologically here is that

  218. the gospel is not just for the Jew.

  219. The gospel is for the Gentile.

  220. God is inviting Peter.

  221. So far, Acts 1 through 9, God is bringing his spirit to the Jews.

  222. But in Acts 10, something is breaking open these four footed creatures.

  223. And the animals, in the Jewish tradition, they were kosher, meaning

  224. they did not eat anything that's unclean.

  225. And I want you to hear me.

  226. And I want you to hear me good.

  227. God could have chosen and any instrument to introduce them to the

  228. more.

  229. But what God chooses to break them into their next is called offense.

  230. I want to tell you this morning.

  231. That offense is the door to the more we've got to ask ourselves

  232. this morning where or what are the white sheets in our lives?

  233. What are those things that are off limits to God?

  234. A lot of times again, people we can give, we can share our faith,

  235. but we won't give our money to God.

  236. Some people love to give their money to God, but they can't remember

  237. the last time they shared their faith with an unbeliever.

  238. So if we're going to believe God for next level encounters, we've

  239. got to begin to say, Lord, where are our never lords?

  240. Where are our white sheets?

  241. Where are those things that offend us?

  242. I'm just going to be honest with you.

  243. A lot of times the very people that God has used to break me into

  244. my next did not come in my preferred package did not come.

  245. So many people are crying out for revival but they have a do not

  246. disturb sign on the door of their heart.

  247. Well, Lord, I'd really like you to come but I'm going to determine

  248. when you come, how you come and where you come.

  249. That ain't God.

  250. It's time to recognize.

  251. We're the potter, he's sorry.

  252. We're the clay and he's the potter.

  253. And when we pray, pray for next level encounters, we've just

  254. got to be ready for any time anywhere.

  255. I remember being in a season where it was like Lord, I'm hungry

  256. for more.

  257. The Lord brought a woman in my life.

  258. He brought an Esther.

  259. He brought wow.

  260. I'd like to hear a man.

  261. Do you want more of God or not?

  262. Do you want a move of God?

  263. Well, I don't like what they wear.

  264. I don't like their ethnicity.

  265. I don't like God doesn't care about what we like.

  266. God is concerned with conforming us into the image and

  267. likeness of Jesus.

  268. And I believe I'm Talking to the V1 family who's hungry for more.

  269. I believe I'm talking to some people in this place who are ready

  270. to be disciples of Jesus Christ.

  271. I'm talking to blood bought, sold out.

  272. I'm talking to holy ghost filled people.

  273. I'm talking about people who are ready to cast the devil out of

  274. people.

  275. I'm talking to people who are ready.

  276. Who's ready to see the dead raised.

  277. Who's ready to see the lame walk.

  278. Listen, I haven't seen it yet, but I believe there's more.

  279. I haven't seen it yet but I'm willing to contend and and believe

  280. for a move of God.

  281. Somebody give Jesus praise I'm telling you, something's breaking

  282. this summer.

  283. Something's opening up this summer.

  284. One of my favorite stories comes Azusa Street.

  285. God is always taking people deeper.

  286. You have a man named William Seymour.

  287. He was an African American preacher.

  288. William Seymour believed his Bible.

  289. He believed in giving your life to Jesus, but he believed in

  290. the baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence in tongues.

  291. William Seymour is preaching it, but he hasn't yet received it.

  292. You know how many people, oh, I won't preach on miracles because

  293. I haven't got my miracle yet.

  294. Sometimes it's you believing by faith in what the Bible says,

  295. and sometimes it's someone else getting their miracle before

  296. you get your miracle.

  297. William Seymour is preaching on the baptism of the Holy Spirit

  298. with tongues.

  299. He hasn't received it yet, but he gets word, hey, there's this guy

  300. named Charles Parham.

  301. He's in another state.

  302. He preaches on the baptism, and he's got it.

  303. William Seymour is hungry.

  304. He knows there's a next encounter that God has for him.

  305. So he makes his way to the meeting where Charles Parham, a white

  306. brother, is preaching.

  307. And William Seymour knocks on the door and says, hey, I'm here

  308. for the baptism.

  309. You know what they say to him?

  310. You can't come in because you're black.

  311. He's met by a spirit of racism.

  312. He's met by offense.

  313. He's met with disappointment.

  314. He's met with a good reason to just walk away and say, no, thanks.

  315. But I want to tell you this morning, hunger looks like something.

  316. Can you turn to your neighbor real quick and say, hunger looks

  317. like something in Miami and Indiana and Long Island.

  318. Hunger looks like something Brooklyn.

  319. William Seymour, hungry for a next level encounter.

  320. Listen to what he says to some stupid remark about his ethnicity.

  321. He says, that's okay, I'll sit outside and listen.

  322. See, there was a hunger.

  323. There was a desire for more of Jesus that was willing to overlook

  324. offense.

  325. He sits outside and receives the baptism.

  326. I'm telling you folks, but.

  327. But yes, you're justified in your pain.

  328. But some of us have to recognize our ability to press into.

  329. The more our ability to be unaffected, offendable, the more

  330. that God wants to pour out.

  331. It's more than for just us.

  332. It's for our children and our children's children.

  333. It's for generational legacy.

  334. It's about Grandpa, the Baptist preacher who's praying in

  335. his house one day, and all of a sudden his English, something comes

  336. out like Shandara Bosnia.

  337. And he's like, what was that?

  338. All of a sudden, Grandpa, Baptist preacher Who theologically

  339. has been taught that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are no longer

  340. for Today.

  341. He's caught the baptism, but he has a choice.

  342. He's about to be persecuted by the brethren.

  343. He's about to be kicked out by the elder because he has an experience

  344. with God that they don't have a system for.

  345. But if Grandpa were persevere, if Grandpa will press into the next,

  346. all of a sudden his children and his children's children, he's

  347. got a generational legacy of the things of God because he was

  348. not willing to quit.

  349. I feel a no quit anointing this morning.

  350. I feel a spirit of perseverance this morning.

  351. I feel like the Lord is saying to some of you, you press through

  352. that persecution.

  353. I'm about to give you new friends.

  354. I'm about to send you into spaces and places that don't feel

  355. normal.

  356. But I'm preparing you for your next.

  357. Oh, I want to be unoffendable.

  358. Oh, Lord, please send a move of God to our city.

  359. What happens if he sends it to another church?

  360. Are we humble enough to go visit and say, lord, I just want

  361. some so I can take it back where I go?

  362. Oh, Lord, we accuse, we persecute.

  363. Folks, think about this.

  364. Let me hit you with a different paradigm.

  365. Think about Cornelius.

  366. Cornelius is not a believer.

  367. If you think about all the phenomenal activity in the early

  368. church, God goes to a Roman centurion.

  369. I want you to think Hollywood.

  370. I want you to think about celebrity.

  371. I want you to fill in the blank.

  372. Whoever it is that I can throw out some names, but I might offend

  373. you.

  374. Who cares?

  375. I don't know who it is.

  376. Beyonce, Justin Bieber, Kanye, whoever your people are, God goes

  377. outside of the church and knocks on the door of Cornelius house

  378. and says, there is more.

  379. God says, cornelius, send the boys to Peter's house because Peter

  380. should know what's up.

  381. Folks, what if God is doing something in America, in Hollywood?

  382. What if God is doing something outside the church?

  383. And these people are about to knock on our doors.

  384. They're about to say, will you let me in?

  385. I've had an encounter, I had a dream, I've had a revelation.

  386. And oh, gosh, let them not find a people bound in routine.

  387. Let them not find a Luke people.

  388. Folks, we lukewarm people.

  389. Folks, we need people who are having fresh next level encounters

  390. in the world.

  391. We need them to come into the house of God.

  392. And we don't need them to come into fresh frozen chosen assembly

  393. with Pastor Frigidaire.

  394. No, we need them to come Into a church on fire.

  395. We need them to come into V1 church, a remnant church.

  396. We need them to come into V1 New Jersey.

  397. A church that's not playing games.

  398. A church that has A church that has oil in their lamps.

  399. Do you have oil in your lamp this morning or are you playing religious

  400. games?

  401. The earth is shaking.

  402. You looking like I'm.

  403. I am crazy.

  404. The earth is shaking.

  405. People are confused.

  406. People are suicidal.

  407. People are drugging out.

  408. And they're just walking into church meeting a of bunch.

  409. Bunch of bored, dry, stale Christians who don't even believe

  410. the gospel they claim to live.

  411. And I'm just here to declare.

  412. Not on my watch.

  413. Not on my watch in Charlotte, North Carolina, and as a brother

  414. and friend of this house, I've just come along alongside of Apostle

  415. Mike.

  416. And I'm just here to declare over V1.

  417. Not on our watch.

  418. This will be a place that has fresh oil.

  419. This will be a place of New Testament Christianity.

  420. This will be a place of true discipleship.

  421. This will be a place where.

  422. Man, you can make fun of my dance, but you don't know my deliverance.

  423. This will be a place where we're peculiar.

  424. This will be a place where we're a little rowdy, but what you

  425. see is what you get.

  426. We don't do hypocrisy here.

  427. We don't do lukewarm Christianity here.

  428. We thank you for the mercy.

  429. We thank you for the grace of Jesus Christ.

  430. But the grace of God did not leave the prodigal in the pig slop.

  431. The grace of God came and delivered that prodigal out of his

  432. pig slop.

  433. I feel a spirit of deliverance here today.

  434. Some of you need to get delivered.

  435. You need to get set free.

  436. You need to answer the call to the gospel before it's too late.

  437. This is the hour to arise and shine in America.

  438. This is not an hour to run and hide.

  439. God did not deliver you from drugs so that you can sit in the

  440. back pew and rot in church.

  441. God delivered you from drugs so that you could go back to that

  442. street where you were once addicted, where you were once bound.

  443. God's called you as a holy ghost deliverer.

  444. It's time to step into it.

  445. It's time to get hungry again.

  446. I said it's time to get hungry again.

  447. I'm hungry.

  448. I'm hungry.

  449. I'm hungry for a fresh move of God.

  450. I'm hungry for a city to be turned upside down.

  451. I reject.
