The title of my message is shattered dreams, unshaken faith.

And so Apostle Mike is really contending for.

Because, you know, Prophet Jeremiah Johnson said, don't be pretenders,

let's be contenders.

And our apostle is a contender for healed minds and mended hearts.

And so when he presented this, I was like, man, it just shook me

to my core.

Because this is like, not only, like, my thing.

Cause I love to love people and see them healed, but it's also

a part of his DNA, right, where he is contending for freedom

in people.

And he wrote the book, inherit your freedom, shameless plug.

Go buy it.

Inherit your freedom through Jesus.

And we just wanna.

I just wanna honor our apostle and Pastor Julie.

We love them so much as they're away on their sabbatical.

We just honor you.

We love you.

And so my sermon is called Shatter dreams Unshaken.

And so have you ever carried a dream?

You woke up from a dream and it was so vivid?

If you have, what I tell you is write it down.

Journal your dreams.

I have journals of dreams.

And it's been a blessing in my life to be able to go back and see

God's hand move throughout all of the dreams that I've ever had.

So journal them.

So if you've had a dream that was so vivid, so divine, that you

knew that it was from God and you saw it, you felt it burning in

your chest, you prayed over it, you believed it.

And then life hit the door closed, people changed, the dream

stalled.

And the silence from heaven grew louder.

And you ask the question that many of us have whispered through

tears, God, where are you in this?

I came today to talk to the dreamers.

Where my dreamers at?

I came to talk today to the wounded, to the weary, to the ones

who feel like what you saw in faith does not match what is in reality.

Your dream may be shattered, but your faith can remain unshaken.

That's why we are beginning this series, Unbroken, Healing minds,

Mending hearts.

Because you may feel cracked, but you are not crushed.

What was meant to destroy you, God is using to develop you.

Father, I thank you that your word brings so much life.

Lord, today, even as we were declaring in worship to live, to

live, for our dry bones to come alive again.

Father, I pray in the name of Jesus that dreams would come to life

again.

Lord, that people that have been shattered where their dreams

have been shattered, Lord, that you would shake up this their

faith again, oh God.

And that they would arise in faith that they would be unshaken,

unmovable, in Jesus, mighty name, Amen.

And amen.

I'm sorry, guys, I am fiery today.

Come on.

So there's three points I'm going to talk about today.

Shattered dreams, unshaken faith, the dream, the shattering,

and the unshaken faith.

Those are my three points.

And we're going to read from Genesis 37, verses 5 to 11.

Genesis 37:5–11

And so you can read with me.

I'm starting from verse five.

Now, Joseph had a dream.

And when he told it to his brothers, they hated him even more.

He said to them, hear this dream that I have dreamed.

Behold, we were binding sheaves in the field.

And behold, my sheaf arose and stood upright.

And behold, your sheaves gathered around it and bowed down

to my sheaf.

And what sheaf means here in this dream is a bundle of grain.

It's like long stalks of grain.

And so if you picture it, it's the sheaves, the bundle of grain

bowing down to his.

And what those sheaves represent in the dream, for all my

dream interpreters, what sheaves represent are his brothers

and his father and mother.

And so the sheaves bow down to him.

Verse 8, his brother said to him, and this is how I read my Bible,

y'.

All, are you indeed to reign over us because tone is everything,

or you are indeed to rule over us?

So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.

Then he dreamed another dream.

And he told his brothers and said, behold, I have dreamed another

dream.

Behold, the sun, the moon and the 11 stars were bowing down to

me.

But when he told it to his father and to his brothers, his father

rebuked him and said, what is this dream you have dreamed?

Shall I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow

ourselves to the ground before you?

And his brothers were jealous of him.

But his father kept the saying in mind.

You see, Joseph, he was a teenager with a God given dream.

And he saw elevation.

He saw leadership.

The sheaves were bowing down to him.

He had a revelation, but no roadmap.

He didn't see what the path was to get there.

He had promise, but didn't understand the process.

How many of you had a prophetic word?

How many of you had a dream that you dreamed, but you didn't

understand what that process was going to look like?

And when God shows you a big dream, he doesn't Always show you

the battle attached to it.

Because there have been some battles, y'.

All.

I know many of you who's been through some battles.

I've been through some battles.

Come on, let me see a show of hands.

Come on.

Indiana, Long Island, Miami.

Let me see the hands of the battles you've been through.

Joseph's brothers hated him for it.

They were jealous.

How many of you know when you have offense in your heart and when

you have jealousy, there are some things that you think about

that you don't even want to tell people what you're thinking

about.

And his brothers were mad.

They hated him.

And let me tell you, not everyone can celebrate what God has

shown you.

Not everyone can.

But don't water down the vision because they're insecure,

okay?

Don't bury the dream because others don't see what God said.

If the dream came from God, it will require God to fulfill it.

Joseph, he was young.

He was idealistic.

He was unprepared for the cost.

But God wasn't giving him a dream.

He was preparing him to carry a legacy.

I'm talking to the legacy carriers in this room.

Across all campuses, we have legacy carriers.

We are kingdom minded.

God is gonna mend hearts today.

He's gonna heal minds.

Because there's a legacy that we need to carry on the Earth for

the kingdom of God.

Come on.

That leads me to point number two, the shattering.

I'm gonna summarize Genesis 38, because we're gonna go through

the whole, whole life of Joseph, and there's not enough time

to be able to talk, to read every scripture to you.

But from Genesis 37, from 18 all the way to 20, Joseph had been

sent by his father to go check on his brothers.

They were working on the field, so they were like, go.

He said, go, go check on your brothers.

See what they're up to.

So here goes Joseph.

You know, he's eager.

He's this teenager.

Like, yeah, you know, the sheaves.

Yeah, I'm the man.

I'm leaders elevated.

He's walking down the road, and then they're like, oh, here he

comes.

Because Joseph had a coat that his father gave him many colors.

And it just showed how his dad even favored him.

And so as he's walking, they're like, oh, here goes the dreamer.

Here goes the one with the coat of many colors.

Let's kill him.

Let's kill him.

So they plotted to kill him.

And so one of the brothers.

I'm gonna read from verse 23.

He says this to his brother so when Joseph came to his bro, they

stripped him of his robe, the robe of many colors that he wore,

and they took him and threw him into the pit.

The pit was empty.

There was no water in it.

We're going to skip down to verse 27, where one of his brothers

say, come, let us sell him to the Ishmaelites.

And let not our hand be upon him, for he is our brother, our own

flesh.

And his brothers listen to the other brother, to him.

Then Midianite traders passed by, and they drew Joseph up and lifted

him out of the pit and sold him to The Ishmaelites for 20 shekels

of silver.

And they took Joseph to Egypt.

And then the Midianites, they came and they sold him to a Egyptian

named Potiphar.

And the officer, he's a.

He was an officer of Pharaoh.

He was a captain of the guard.

And Joseph found favor with Potiphar.

And then he became ruler over the house.

Joseph became ruler over Potiphar's house.

And then when Joseph was living and ruling in Potiphar's house,

Potiphar's wife came and she accused him of raping her.

And so then Joseph was thrown into prison.

Okay, guys, he had a dream.

The sheaves bowing down.

He saw leadership.

He saw elevation.

But now he's in prison.

And it looked like that dream was stalled.

Joseph's dream didn't just get delayed.

When he was in prison, he met a cupbearer.

And Joseph interpreted dreams.

And, you know, I mean, these interpreting dreams.

I know I have dreams.

I wrote down.

And we interpret them, me and my friends, we're like, this is my

dream.

Interpret our dreams.

He got you.

He's going to interpret your dream.

I'm just kidding.

He doesn't interpret dreams at all.

It's not his gifting.

He's a teacher.

But I just had to throw that in there.

Okay, so he's in the prison and he meets a cup bearer.

And these are his boys in prison, and he's interpreting their

dreams.

They're like, man, this guy's on point.

He's interpreting dreams.

They're like, don't worry, we got you.

When we go up to Pharaoh, when we get out of here, we'll remember

you.

But they didn't.

It went.

Two years went by, and they didn't remember him.

So Joseph's dream didn't just get delayed.

It looked destroyed.

He was betrayed by his brothers.

He was thrown in a pit.

He was sold, like, property.

He was Falsely accused, and he was forgotten in prison.

Joseph's dream seemed farther and farther away.

His dreams were kind of shattered, you could say.

And this is where many give up.

Because it had been years that went by.

And sometimes when our dream, we may not see our dream come to

fruition, our vision, our prophecy, we may not see it come

to fruition.

It may be years that pass by.

And this is where many would have given up.

And maybe.

I know there have been times that I gave up.

But God does something in that no pain is wasted.

None.

When what God said and what life looks like feel miles apart,

he must have asked God, I thought you chose me.

I thought you called me.

I thought there was favor on my life.

But here's the truth.

The pit doesn't mean God changed his mind.

Hello?

The prison doesn't cancel the prophecy.

The shattering is part of the shaping.

Do you hear me?

It's part of the shaping.

Romans 5, 3, 4, says, we can rejoice too when we run into problems

and trials.

For we know that they help us develop endurance.

And endurance develops strength of character.

And character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.

God is trying, not trying to just elevate you.

He's trying to form Christ within you.

You know, when I was younger, and I'm not telling this story in

chronological order, however, when I was younger, in my 20s.

I know I'm not 20.

I know I look it, but I'm not.

Yes, yes.

In my twenties, I remember I was struggling as a young adult.

Come on.

Young adults, Single young adults.

Because I was a single young adult, and I was struggling in my

walk with God.

I remember this day, I was in the club the night before, and I

felt so convicted.

And then I went to a women's breakfast the next morning that my

friend invited me to, and one of my sisters came with me, and we

go to this woman's breakfast, and there was this white woman.

I had never seen this before.

This is why I'm saying it.

There was this white woman that was a missionary from India.

And I was like, interesting, okay?

And I'm listening to this woman preach, and she was preaching

on the woman with the issue of blood.

And she was preaching this word.

And I'm.

My heart is like, I'm struggling.

I was in the club the night before, guys, and I'm like, okay.

She's like, if those of you that want Jesus, come and reach the

hem of his garment.

I had accepted Christ before, right?

But I was struggling in my faith.

So she's like, come to the altar.

So I go to the altar, and I had never experienced this before

in my life.

I was in a Pentecostal church.

I did see things that I thought was weird sometimes, but

I was like, all right, cool.

And I was standing there, and she was like, jesus, when I touch

her, you touch her?

No.

She said, holy Spirit, when I touch her, you touch her in Jesus

name.

And she just went like this.

And I went.

And I felt like something left my body, and I fell out.

And I said, oh, my God, I am on the floor.

What is happening to me?

I had seen it, but I never experienced it.

And I heard the worship team real far, and I remember, like, oh,

my gosh.

I felt like I was floating in the air.

Actually, I didn't say this in first service.

I felt like I was being lifted up, and I was like, this is wild.

What's happening.

My mind was just like.

I got up, I stood up, and I see women on the floor, and some

of them just look like they were just receiving from God.

And I was like, man, I want to receive like that.

What's she doing?

What God is doing to her.

I want to receive like that.

And I just stood there.

And the woman comes again to me, and she was like, God wants to

do a surgery on you, honey.

And she put her hand on my belly, and I screamed, scream came

out.

And I was like, oh, my God, I'm screaming.

And I was like.

And then I fell out again.

If my husband was there, he would have been like, she crazy.

He wasn't there.

I met him later.

And I'm on the floor, and I hear the worship team fire again.

And I hear God.

I heard the audible voice of God.

And he said, seek me, seek me.

And I said, God, but what about.

I was the only one saved in my family.

I got saved at the age of 16.

And I said, God, what about Mommy?

What about Daddy?

What about my sisters?

He said, don't worry, I have them.

Seek me, seek me, seek me, seek me, seek me.

And then I just heard it louder and louder, and I'm weeping,

and I'm like, okay, God.

Okay, okay.

I'm gonna seek you.

And what I didn't know the promise that he was giving me was

Matthew 6:33.

Matthew 6:33

But seek first the kingdom of God and all his righteousness, and

all of these things will be added to you.

And so I went on the journey to seek the Lord by myself, going

to church by myself, sitting in the pew by myself, worshiping

God by myself, growing by myself.

And it was Hard.

It was hard doing that.

I remember when I had gotten saved, I had gotten baptized.

I had gotten baptized.

I was a spontaneous baptism.

But I remember one morning before I had gotten baptized, I was

sleeping on the couch.

I guess I used to stay up late and sleep on the couch.

And I'm sleeping on the couch and I hear my dad on the phone with

someone.

He was fighting with this person, like, real hard.

It woke me up from my sleep, and I was like, sassy and nosy all

at the same time.

I won't say.

All the nosy people give me a shout, but you know.

You know who you are.

And so I was like, I'm gonna pretend like I'm sleeping.

Because what is happening right now?

And I'm listening to my dad tell this person, for 10 years, you

don't kiss me, you don't hug me, you don't love me, you don't

tell me this, you don't tell me that for 10 years.

And I'm tired of it.

And I'm thinking, hmm, 10 years.

Mommy's in the room, you ain't talking to her on the phone.

You've been cheating on her since I was six years old.

Dreams shattered.

Betrayal in family.

Betrayal from my father, who was supposed to be my protector,

who was supposed to be the provider, who was supposed to be

the priest of the home.

Dreams shattered.

And I'm going to go to that later.

That leads me to point number two.

The shattered dream.

No.

Yes.

The shattering.

Genesis 39.

I'm sorry.

Point number three is the unshaken faith.

Genesis 39.

Two says, the Lord was with Joseph.

So he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of

the Egyptian master.

Verse 21.

But the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his

faithful love.

And the Lord made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden.

The Lord was with Joseph.

That's the.

The key verse.

The Lord was with Joseph.

Not that Joseph succeeded, but God was with him in the pit.

God was there in Potiphar's house.

God was there in the prison.

God was there.

He was forgotten by people, but he wasn't forgotten by God.

Unshaken faith doesn't mean that you don't cry.

It's okay to cry.

It means you don't quit.

Joseph kept his posture.

He kept his purity.

When Potiphar's wife tried to try to.

What do they call it nowadays?

Glaze on him, he kept his perspective.

He didn't wait until the palace to act like God's son.

Sometimes God delays a dream, because he's preparing you for what

you couldn't have imagined.

Joseph later becomes second in command, and he essentially becomes

the governor of the land.

Because there was a dream that Pharaoh had that there was going

to be seven years.

There was seven years of greatness and seven years of famine.

And Joseph had interpreted that dream.

And when he interpreted that dream, Pharaoh heard about it, and

he was like, I'm going to make you governor over the lands.

And so when there was a famine and people were coming from all over

the world into Egypt to buy grain, guess who came to buy grain

from him?

His brothers.

And he recognized them.

They didn't recognize him, but he recognized them.

And it says in chapter 43 that he grew compassion for his brothers.

I tell you what that is, unshaken faith.

They betrayed him.

They threw him in a pit.

They left him to die.

Then they sold him to slavery.

And that's only God, that he grew compassion in his heart for

his brothers.

And then Joseph, in chapter 45, he reveals himself to his brothers.

And in chapter 47, he's reunited from his family.

So from the time of the dream with the sheaves bowing down to Joseph,

he was about 17 years old.

And to the time of the fulfillment of that dream, it was

about two decades when he reunited with his family.

Two decades.

I don't know about y', all, but that's some unshaken faith.

And, you know, remember that story I said about my dad breaking

up with his girlfriend on the phone?

For years, I was angry.

I was angry at my mom for saying, I forgive you.

And because I didn't just sweep it under the rug, y', all,

I confronted it.

So I had gotten baptized a few days later, after I had heard that

interaction with this person on the phone.

And I'm gonna say her name was Jane to keep privacy for her.

But I had gotten baptized, and my dad pulled me into the room, and

he was like, how dare you?

Cause we weren't born again Christians.

He was like, how dare you change your faith?

How dare you?

Da, da, da, da.

And I was like, bro, I want to know Jesus.

I want to know him.

I want to have a personal relationship with him.

I got baptized because I was dead, and now I'm alive, and my dad's

sitting there, and he's like, I don't understand.

No.

And I'm like, dad, I got to ask you a question.

Who's Jane?

Because I was sassy, and it wasn't like I was being, like, relentless.

But I was like, no, I'm Going to confront this thing.

Who's Jane?

And he was like, she's a friend.

And I was like, no, she ain't.

I heard the conversation.

I heard the things that you told her.

You told her this, that, this and that.

And he was like, okay.

And he confessed it, and he confessed to me, and he started to

pour his heart out.

And then I was like, oh, my God.

I'm becoming my father's counselor.

This is not healthy.

And for years, I wanted to defend my mom because she couldn't

defend herself.

She was very meek.

So I would stand up in her honor and her defense.

And it took years of forgiveness that I had to have toward

my father and in their relationship because I was trying

to defend her.

And that's called codependent.

I had savior complex.

I was a Christian, and I had savior complex.

I was trying to save my mom from my dad.

Yeah.

It took a long time to unlearn and unwind that codependency in our

life, in my life.

That was codependent with my husband.

When I met him, I was like, I want to love him to health because

he was broken.

And I was like, hi, I want to love you.

He was so emo, too, when I met him.

Like, you see different, but he was emoji.

He cried a lot.

I was like, yes.

But I was co dependent, y'.

All.

I wanted to take on a project, but he was God's project, not mine,

so I had to let him.

Jesus, help me, Lord.

Five minutes.

But I'm gonna.

I'm gonna take a moment.

Not right now, but I will.

Years later, my mom passed away.

She had cancer.

She passed away during the COVID season.

Her immune system was compromised.

She ended up getting Covid.

And she went in, like, 15 days, just like that.

15 days.

But I believe that God honored her prayer.

She said, God, don't let cancer wither me away.

I want to go, and I want to go quick.

And so I took that, and I was like, God, you, honor her prayer.

She went quick.

She didn't wither away.

And so my mom passed.

Two years later, my dad has a girlfriend.

He didn't say she was his girlfriend.

It was the day of my husband's birthday.

It was Labor Day weekend.

And he comes in with her, and he's like, hey, guys.

This is my friend Jane.

Jane.

Same name.

Remember?

I changed it, but same name.

And I thought, ooh, I know who this is.

This is Jane from a long time ago.

And in my heart, I was processing alone.

I didn't tell my Sisters yet.

Because I was like, I can't wait to tell them.

This is two years ago, guys.

I was a pastor at V1 Church.

Been a Christian for years.

And I'm like, man, all right, Jane's here.

What do I do?

Do I tell my dad, how dare you bring this woman around.

How dare you do that?

No.

I grew compassion in my heart.

And a few days later, because I let him rock my sister, actually,

because I needed confirmation, you know, was that really her?

But I knew it was.

I just knew within my bones, my discernment was telling me, that's

her.

And my other sister, Jasmine, goes, so, how'd you guys meet?

And my dad had looked unsettled the whole time.

That's how I knew it was her, because he just looked unsettled

the whole time.

Like, I hope they don't ask the question.

And she was like, he just put his head down.

And she goes.

We reconnected recently.

And I was like, that's her.

I knew it.

A few days later.

I remember my dad was sitting on the couch, and I was saying goodbye

to him, and I whispered in his ear.

I said, I know who Jane is.

I know it's the Jane from when I was 16 years old and you broke

up with her on the phone.

I know it's her.

But, dad, it's okay.

I forgive you.

I love you.

He just put his head down and he just nodded.

You see, my.

My husband was a pivotal time in our life where my dad came to

know Jesus Christ as Lord.

And all of my family did.

And Matthew 6:33 did come to fruition.

Matthew 6:33

It did.

But my dad lived a life of regret, great regret and remorse.

Even though he was saved, even though he knew Jesus, he still had

remorse.

He still had regret.

And I didn't want him to live his life like that.

I wanted him to create memories.

I wanted for him to live for Jesus.

He got some deliverance.

Suicide canceled.

I mean, there were things that was happening in his life, but he

just couldn't see past it.

I know he went to be with Jesus because he died last month.

June.

In June.

And I remember Jane was around because, you know, she was a part

of him.

And so she was around.

She was with us in the hospital.

And I remember that he was intubated.

He was in the emergency room.

And I go to his bedside, and they told me that he had minimal

brain function.

And I go to his ear, and I said, daddy is Jocelyn.

He opened his eyes, and I see his chin quiver.

He couldn't move.

And his chin was quivering.

And I said, he just looks so vulnerable and helpless and broken.

And I said, daddy, go with Jesus.

He loves you.

Go with him.

He's with you.

And he's just looking straight up.

And I.

And I'm praying for him.

And I only had 15 minutes with him.

And I'm praying and I'm telling him, just go.

Go with Jesus.

And then I had to leave his bedside so my other sisters can come

and see him.

And Jane was with us.

And the day of his burial, I go to Jane because she knew that

I knew who she was.

It was unspoken, but she knew.

And I said, jane, after we have the burial, we're gonna have

dinner with my dad.

I mean, with the family, after the burial, after we bury him.

It would be an honor if you come and have dinner with us.

And she looked at me and she said, this means so much to me.

Thank you.

And I said, you're welcome.

And I gave her a hug.

And that was showing compassion to someone.

I could have been in my flesh and said, that's the woman.

I didn't.

Because it doesn't take for me to go to a palace, to be a daughter

of a king.

Maybe this could have been something that was meant to destroy

me.

To think about the betrayal, to think about the pain.

But God was using it to develop me to be more like Christ.

Joseph saw it.

He connected the dots.

All the betrayal, all the pain, all time, the.

All the delays.

They didn't derail the dream.

They fulfilled it.

Romans 8:28 says, and we know that God causes everything to work

Romans 8:28

together for the good of those who love God and are called according

to his purpose.

Every pain, every delay, every betrayal is for his purpose.

It's for your shaping.

It's for your molding.

It's to mold Christ in you.

It's to develop you.

Don't let the dream die.

Don't let the shatter.

Don't let it shatter.

Don't let it shatter.

Unshaken faith.

You might feel broken, but you're not abandoned.

You might feel shattered, but you are still standing.

And the God who gave the dream is faithful to finish the completed

work.

See.

Stay faithful.

Stay yielded.

Stay unshaken.

Your dream may be shattered, but your faith will not be broken.

Stand to your feet with me, and I want you to hear this.

Joseph's story is powerful, but Jesus story is perfect.

Jesus came with a mission, a dream to redeem.

But he was betrayed, abandoned, mocked.

He was crucified.

It looked like the dream died, but it was just the Beginning what

looked like a tomb was a launching pad for salvation of the

world.

Joseph was thrown into a pit.

Jesus was placed in a tomb.

Joseph saved Egypt.

Jesus saved the world.

Joseph fed a nation.

Jesus is the bread of life.

And because he was broken, you can be made whole, your heart can

be mended.

Let's take our elements and we're going to have a moment.

The same God who walked Joseph from the pit to the palace is walking

with you.

And we're going to take communion today.

And we're going to do it in remembrance of what he did for us.

He was broken for the unbroken.

And before we take communion, Jesus didn't just die for your sin,

he died for your healing.

He died for your mind.

He died for your heart.

He died for your future.

And as we take the bread, I just keep seeing, like as I've been

praying over this word and reflecting, I keep seeing a father,

a father that's broken, that has regret and remorse in his life,

that may even have imposter syndrome.

Today, as we take the bread, many of you, where you may feel broken,

where you may feel like you're an imposter, where you may be struggling

in your own faith.

Today, as we take the bread, we're going to do, then say, do this

in remembrance of Jesus where he was broken, so we didn't have

to stay broken.

So Jesus, we take this bread in remembrance of you where you were

broken, you were not destroyed.

And Lord, we take this bread in remembrance, believing that we

can be made whole in our spirit.

In Jesus name, take the bread with me.

He was broken, so you don't have to stay broken.

Jesus, as we take this cup, take your cup and as we drink this

grape juice, as a resemblance, as a symbolism of your blood, it

is only the blood that breaks.

It breaks the yoke of bondage.

It breaks the unshattered, the shattered dreams.

It breaks it and it brings unshaken faith in our lives.

And Jesus, as we take this cup, we do it in remembrance of you

that you would heal our hearts, that you would mend it back

together.

Everything that has shattered our lives, Lord, we give it to you

today, Lord, that you would make us whole.

In Jesus name, let's take the cup together.

Jesus.

Jesus, we receive your healing power in mending hearts today.

Jesus, come and heal.

Do a surgery on many hearts today.

God.
