A Whole Hearted Walk | Unbroken: Healing Minds and Mending Hearts | Pastor Randall Duperval

And I love you.

I'm a say it up front.

But I love you so much that I've got to deliver this message.

And we are going to talk about a wholehearted walk.

A wholehearted walk.

And you know, as Christians, we hear those words wholeheartedly.

We're like, oh, yeah, okay, this is a good word and things of

that nature.

But do we really know what it means to be wholehearted?

I'll tell you what.

During this week, as I was preparing for this word, I didn't

know, I realized I didn't know what it meant to be wholehearted.

And so I'm ready to deliver this word.

And my question is, are you ready?

All right, that was two people.

Thank you.

I'm so proud for you.

Thank you, Nadab.

I appreciate you.

Thank you, Chilliwack Canada.

I really appreciate you.

However, I want everyone to be ready for this word.

Because here's the thing.

If I'm gonna deliver a life shifting mess, the question is, are

you going to receive it?

Okay?

And so I am a part of, like, I come from an educational background.

Like, meaning I was in the education system working and things

of that nature.

And one of the things that I picked up from there is call and

response.

And so my question to you again is, are you ready to receive

a life shifting word?

All right, thank you.

A wholehearted walk.

I'm gonna take you through a journey of this man named Caleb,

all right?

And if for those of you that don't know Caleb, we're gonna learn

about him today.

And the thing is, Caleb was with the Israelites, Caleb and Joshua.

You know, there was 12 spies, Caleb and Joshua.

They walked through, walked in the wilderness.

They.

They went to spy out the land.

Moses sent them out, and all these things happened.

But prior to the Israelites were praying for someone to come

and deliver them.

And then they get Moses to come and deliver them.

And then from there, Moses walks them through the Red Sea, which

is crazy.

Amazing that that even happened.

But then here's the thing.

I believe what happened with the Israelites was they thought that

a rival was enough.

You thought that arrival into you being a Christian is enough.

You thought that, man, God, you answered my prayers.

That is enough.

You thought surviving was enough.

You thought that living out the dreams, that some of the dreams

that God gave you is enough.

But I want to let you know that arrival is not enough.

And surviving is not inheriting.

I want to let you know that there is more.

There is more.

It's not just the more of more.

There's more for God to give you, but there's also more that you've

got to give a wholehearted walk.

So what I'm going to do here is I'm going to take you on a journey,

okay?

I'm going to give you the beginning, the end first and then

I'm going to walk you through.

Because here's the thing, there's restoration, that is the

reward.

But in order to get to restoration, you've got to walk into

resilience.

You've got to build the characteristic of resilience.

But in order to get to resilience, you have to walk wholeheartedly.

So it's wholeheartedness and then resilience, then restoration.

So many of us are trying to fight for restoration, but we're

not willing to live a life that's wholehearted.

So many of us are trying to fight for restoration, but we're

not willing to be resilient in the process.

And so, but here's the thing.

In order for you to know what it's gonna take to be resilient and

get to restoration, you also have to know that half heartedness

is the opposite of wholeheartedness.

And you know what happens when you're half hearted?

You end up being in a place where you're wandering.

Anybody ever feel that, that?

Anybody ever feel like, man, I'm just kind of like going through

the same thing over and over and over again.

It's the same situation, the same thing.

You ever have a friend that you talk to and it's like, man, ain't

we just talk about this like a month ago or maybe a year later?

Let me not give your friend that much, like slack, like not slack,

but let me not come for your friend that much.

And the friend is probably you.

But anyway, maybe about a year, right, maybe a year later you're

on the phone with them and you like you messing with that same guy.

Didn't we, didn't you break up with him?

Didn't you break up with her?

What do you mean?

Oh, you, you with somebody else now.

But the characteristics sound the same, bro.

You, you going through something, what's going on?

And it's not just in relationships and it's in so many

different things.

And I'm, I'm a tell on myself in a little while, so get ready for

that.

I felt everybody kind of lean in because they're like, oh, he about

to give some tea.

But half hearted, right?

You get now, now it's half hearted.

That half hearted walk gets you wandering, that wandering, you

know, where it leads you.

Not just not receiving your dreams, not just not inheriting your

legacy, but it receives you death.

Pastor Randall, you wilding like it's not that serious.

Oh, yes, it is.

Oh, yes, it is.

And I'm going to.

I'm going to explain to you how serious it is.

A wholehearted walk is not about arriving.

It's about surrendering.

It may cost you more, but it always gives you more.

It always gives you more.

So let's define wholehearted and half hearted, okay?

Because I want you to know what it means to be wholehearted.

But I also want you to know what it means to also be half hearted.

Because the thing is, if you don't know, if.

If you want to.

If you want to do something, you must first know what not to do.

All right?

So really quickly, I want you to turn to numbers, chapter 14, verse

Numbers 14:22–24

22 to 24.

Numbers 14, 22 to 24.

And once you have it, you can say amen.

Or if you're on your way, you can say amen.

Numbers.

Numbers 14, 22 to 24.

It says, not one of those who saw my glory and the signs, this

is God speaking, okay?

And signs.

And the signs I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness, but

who disobeyed me and tested me 10 times, not one of them will ever

see the land I promised on oath to their ancestors.

No one has treated me with contempt will ever see it.

But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows

me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went into,

and his descendants will inherit it.

You know, as I was reading this just now, I just saw something.

I will bring him into the land he went to.

You know, there's.

When you read Numbers and you read this scripture and you read

like the scriptures after it, there's a part in the Scripture where

even after God said this out loud to the people, he said it to

Moses, but then Moses delivered it to the people.

You know, the people still try to go and fight all these other people

and all these other tribes and things of that nature.

And Moses even told them, hey, God's not with you.

You going to lose.

And they ended up losing.

So many of us are trying to figure things out ourselves when

we have a God that we can lean on, so many of us, I will bring him

into the land he went to.

And the beautiful thing is that it's.

After he said that Caleb has a different spirit and he follows me

wholeheartedly that he still says, I will bring him.

So for some of you.

Even when you get this word today, you're still gonna think that,

oh, there's something that I'm doing.

No, it's not something you're doing.

It's something that God's going to do for you and through you.

Can you just receive it?

Are you able to just receive it?

And I'm going to summarize this portion, but numbers 14, 36,

38, it goes on to explain that.

So the men Moses had sent to explore the land, who returned and

made the whole community grumble against him by spreading

a bad report about it.

These men who were responsible for spreading the bad report about

the land were struck down and died of a plague before the Lord.

Of the men who went to explore the land, only Joshua, son of Nun,

and Caleb, son of Jepunah, survived.

Be careful who you're talking to.

Be careful what you're talking about.

Oh, man.

You know, I can't believe we gotta park all the way down the block

and then get into this shuttle and whatnot.

Man, this is annoying.

I can't believe that I see somebody laughing.

Cause they probably was saying that just a moment ago.

Don't worry, you got the ability to repent.

Man.

I can't believe we don't got our own building yet.

What's happening?

I can't believe we're still in a revival home.

Didn't they make Jersey a revival?

Didn't they make Jersey into a campus?

Come on.

I'm gonna speak to some things.

I don't know who's saying it.

I haven't heard anything, but I told God, I'm a listen to you,

Lord, and I'm going to speak to what it is, because listen, we've

got to talk about these things.

You see, wholehearted means full surrender, undivided devotion.

Whereas half hearted means selective obedience.

A divided loyalty.

How many parents I got in the house right now?

How many parents actually receive?

You hear from your children, Tell you what, Half of what you said,

not the full thing.

How many parents have selective.

Have children with selective hearing?

I'm putting all my feet up and everything because I got, you know,

I got four kids, so I got to put everything.

My hands, my.

My hands, my legs and everything.

Selective obedience, divided loyalty.

Well, you know what?

God's a dad.

God's a father, and we're children.

How many of you guys?

How many of us?

Because I'm in this too.

Oh, Lord, telling you I got rocked this whole week.

Selective obedience.

Hey, God.

Yeah, I'm gonna do that.

But you know what?

I'M gonna do it this way.

Hey, God.

Yeah, man.

God, please tell me what I ought to do.

Okay, son, I want you to do this.

And then you hear him and then you're like, okay, but.

But what?

You just asked for a word, you just heard from God.

And.

But come on now.

Divided loyalty.

Is it possible that we decide to have selective obedience and divided

loyalty because we don't truly trust God?

Oh, we say we do.

Oh, we sing the songs.

You know, we all come up here, we come up onto the front, we lift

our hands and all of this stuff.

I told you I was going slap y' all like two times.

I'm gonna hug y' all in a little while.

But like, we will do it.

But we're not willing to walk wholeheartedly.

We're willing to do things half hearted.

But I want you to know that that half hearted walk is going to

lead you to death.

It's going to lead you wandering around over and over again.

How do I know this?

Because the consequence of half heartedness is wandering.

In Numbers 32, Verse 13.

Numbers 32:13

In Numbers 32, Verse 13, it says, the Lord's anger burned against

Numbers 32:13

Israel and he made them wander in the wilderness 40 years until

the whole generation of those who had done evil in his sight was

gone.

What?

Man, I'll tell you something.

When I read that this week, I was just like, wait a minute.

You mean to tell me this whole entire time I thought the Israelites

were the one that just weren't listening, that just decided to go

left when God was saying go right.

Did I do that right?

Right.

Okay, and go left when God was saying go right.

But then what was actually happening was.

Numbers 32 13.

Turn to it if you.

If you don't believe me.

Like it says, the Lord's anger burned against Israel and he made

them wander in the wilderness 40 years until the whole generation

of those who had done evil in his sight was gone.

We're not talking about gone into another land.

No, we're talking about gone into death.

Dang, God, I thought you were a loving God.

Yeah, I corrected you 10 times.

You tested me 10 times.

You asked me for a word 10 times.

And I gave you the word 10 times.

But yet you chose to do what?

What it was that you wanted to do.

Numbers 14, verse 22 says.

I read that already.

Sorry.

Half hearted people waste years in circles.

They waste years in circles.

Wandering feels like movement, but produces no progress.

Half hearted people, it's when you're in a forest, imagine you're

in a forest.

And you're walking and you see this tree and you're like, all right,

hey, you know what?

I feel like we came here already.

So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna pick up this rock and I'm gonna

put my initials.

That way I know that this is definitely the tree we walk by so

we can go past another tree that is my initials.

It's been four days.

You mean to tell me I've just been walking around in a circle for

four days?

It's been four months.

It's been four years.

You mean to tell me I'm in the same place?

Same still half hearted people waste years in circles wandering

feels like movement but produces no progress.

You know how I know this is true?

Because recently it was my birthday the other day, and my wife

surprised me with an apple watch.

And I was just like, what?

I was really shocked.

I didn't think she would get that.

I just, you know, I was wishful thinking I would ask her,

I'd be like, hey, I need an apple watch.

And she actually got it for me.

And so I was just like, oh, thank you so much.

I was excited.

And then, so I have a dog.

His name is Tuxedo.

And when you see him, you'll see why.

And as I'm walking him, I took him on this long walk.

And as I was walking, all of a sudden my apple watch goes off and

says, would you like to record this walk?

It seems like you're doing an outdoor walk.

I was like, dang, this is.

I was like, God or AI, like, what's going on?

I was like, this is amazing.

How did it figure that out?

And so as I'm walking, I'm thinking about it, I'm like, how

did it know that I was walking?

And it was like an exercise.

And I began to realize that the reason why is because of the

GPS in the watch, it was able to track the fact that I was walking.

But not only was I walking, but I was walking from one distance

to the next.

There was movement and progress.

Not just movement, because I could be in my house.

But then while I'm home, even while I'm here right now, I could

be walking over and over.

Not once I've been here since 8 o' clock and not once did my watch

tell me, hey, it seems like you're on a workout.

Would you like me to record it?

You know why?

Because I'm still in the same place.

I haven't moved, I haven't gone anywhere.

I'm still in this House.

It's not as if I traveled from one place to the other, but let me

start walking home.

My watch is gonna tell me, hey, the satellite that's tracking

you, the God that's tracking you recognizes there's movement going

on.

And so therefore you must be progressing into something new.

You must be progressing into a new place.

You must be going someplace else.

So wandering does not mean that movement does not mean that

you are progressing.

Half hearted walk will cause you to wander and make you feel like

you're moving, but you're not progressing.

I know you're not clapping right now because you're recognizing.

Oh, shoot.

This is me.

Oh, man, this is me.

This is what I've been going through.

This is why I keep coming back to the same prayers.

This is why I keep reading the same scriptures.

This is why I open up my book to what God told me a few years ago.

And I look at it now and I'm writing down the same thing he told

me years ago.

You have not progressed, young people.

I'm talking about you chasing success without surrender.

Adults, I'm talking about you of cycles of death and broken relationships.

Elders, I'm talking about your bitterness, your regret and clinging

to what was, as opposed to looking to what is stagehand.

Can you just get my car?

Because I'm gonna have to run out of here and I hope they don't

know where I parked because I might have slashed tires.

My GPS is gonna start asking me, my phone, my watch is gonna ask

me, are you, Are you taking an outdoor walk?

Yeah, because I don't have a car.

But here's the thing.

Caleb, in the same wilderness, in the same years, lived differently.

It's interesting to me, right?

Caleb was amongst the Israelites that wandered in circles

for four years.

I mean, for 40 years.

The Israelites, we all know that, right?

That the Israelites, they wandered in circles and then they

died off because of the fact that they were just going in, going

in circles.

But then Caleb was part of that.

Joshua was a part of that.

Why?

How come Caleb was able to see the promise, but yet he was not able

to, but yet the people around him was not.

You see, remember I told you that there's restoration, resilience,

but before we got to do that, there's a wholehearted walk.

Joshua 14:1011 says, now then, just as the Lord promised, he has

kept me alive for 45 years, since the time he said this to Moses

while Israel moved about in the wilderness.

So here I am today, 85 years old.

I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out.

I'm just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then.

In the same 40 years they were wandering, Caleb was withstanding

in the same 40 years where the Israelites were going around in circles,

seeing the same tree, looking at the same mountain, figuring out

what to do next, if this is going to work or if that is going

to work.

You know what Caleb was doing?

He was withstanding.

He was withstanding.

What was he withstanding to?

You see, what Caleb did is the same thing what Caleb did in the

wilderness was the same thing he did the moment his his peers,

that he was supposed to go and conquer the land with the same thing.

He did the same thing then.

Later, then.

And he then, excuse me, he did the same thing later than what he

did then, and that's silenced the people.

It says in Numbers 13, Verse 30.

Numbers 13:30

Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, we should

go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do

it.

How many of you are going to silence your friends?

Silence your family members?

Silence your peers?

Silence those that are talking?

Silence your negative self.

Talk.

Silence the trauma, silence the emotions.

How many of you are going to silence what is around you?

I want you to know that faith begins when fear is silenced.

Faith begins when fear is silenced.

You see, I just want to add some auxiliary scriptures to you

as well.

We see.

Proverbs 4:23 says, above all else, guards your heart, and for

Proverbs 4:23

everything you do flows from it.

Proverbs 18, verse 21 says, the tongue has the power of life

Proverbs 18:21

and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

What did Caleb say?

He said we should go up and take possession of the land, for

we can certainly do it.

Proverbs 1:20, 21.

Proverbs 1:20

Out in the open, Wisdom calls aloud.

She raises her voice in the public square on top of the wall.

She cries out at the city gate.

She makes her speech.

So here's your decision.

Moment.

My question is, will you silence the noise?

Will you silence the noise?

You see, the marketplace is loud, but you are loud too.

You have the ability to be loud as well.

Think about it.

You got one man standing in front of 11 other, no, 10 other people,

but not only standing beside 10 other people that are looking

at him, saying, nah, we can't do it.

And then you have a whole entire nation standing in front of

you waiting to hear what everyone would say.

And they grabbed on to what the 10 said instead of listening

to what Caleb was saying.

Caleb said, we can certainly do It.

And you know how I know he did it?

Because it says.

And I'll read to you in a little while what it said.

But restoration is where we're ending up.

And I'm going to define what restoration is in a second.

But I want you to know that the noise in your life is social

media.

The noise in your life is negative self talk.

The noise in your life is shortcuts.

I'm a shortcut king.

I'm always trying to find a more efficient way to do things.

I'm always trying to find even driving.

I'll take a shortcut.

And Pastor Mary sitting beside me, and she'll look at me and be

like, can you just follow the gps?

And I'm like, nah, I think there's a better way.

I tried that yesterday.

I had to go to New Jersey for Blitz the Block, and I drove because

I live in Long Island.

For those of you that don't know Long island people.

Can y' all make some noise?

Yeah.

And so I'm driving.

I'm driving.

And I was listening to 1010 WINS.

I don't know.

It was on.

I'm not that old, but that's how my parents raised me.

But I was listening, and I was hearing the traffic that was in certain

areas, and I was like, all right, you know what I'm gonna do?

I'm go this way.

I'm gonna go that way.

Then I look at the GPS.

Originally, it told me I was gonna get there 10 minutes before

I actually did get there.

Why?

Because I decided to take a shortcut.

Noise.

1010 wins in that moment was noise.

But shortcuts is noise.

Your emotions are noise.

Your trauma, it's noise.

Listen, I know you went through it, but listen.

And I'm talking to you in Indiana.

I'm talking to you in Brooklyn.

I'm talking to you online.

That's watching.

I validate the fact that you went through it.

We validate that.

We understand.

But you went through it.

That is the past.

Let's move on into where God is calling you to.

You know, it's interesting, right?

How many of you know RJ from New York and V1 Brooklyn?

He's the production lead there, and he's.

He's a phenomenal man of God.

I love rj.

He has a place near and dear to my heart because, you know, we

just.

We just kind of went through life together and seeing him become

who he is today and.

But there was a moment, right now, we see the highlight reel of

RJ standing next to his wife.

And graduating and walking across the stage with his wife Crystal.

And they went through V1 college year one, but their marriage

was definitely on the rocks.

We heard their testimony for those of you that were at the marriage

conference.

And there's all of these things that kind of took place in

their lives.

But there was a moment after all the prayers, after God gave them

what they wanted, after he prayed to just be back in the life

of his children and his wife, like a father should be, There's

a moment where he was rocked once more.

And I asked rj, I was like, man, rj, I'm so proud of you, man.

I see what God's doing in your life is so amazing, but what did

it take to be resilient?

He's like, pastor, you know, I wasn't always resilient.

Even after I got what I asked for, there was a moment in my life

where I kind of stepped a little back.

I stepped back a little, and I was like, you know what?

I'm not gonna go to church as much.

You know, God gave me what I want.

I'm not.

I'm just gonna.

You know, just.

There's just these moments in our lives where things kind of, like,

just.

We just kind of push some things under the rug or we push it

behind us, and we're like, you know what?

I'm good now.

That's what the Israelites thought.

Oh, I went through the Red Sea.

Now I'm out.

Egypt is no longer chasing after me.

I'm good now.

And so what happened to rj?

There was a moment.

Now they're about to have a baby, a baby girl, and all of a sudden,

the baby dies.

It was a couple of weeks in, and they were excited.

A couple months in, actually, and they were excited about what

God had in their lives.

And they.

They looked at it, and it was like, there's our restoration story.

There it goes.

But rj, he didn't know how to get through that.

He didn't know what he would do.

You know, some people have a scripture that they hold on to.

Some people, they decide to just open up the word, and they walk

daily in where God is calling them to.

But for him, it was a song.

The song do it Again came on the radio, and he remembered what

God did before, and he said, God, if you can do it then, you can

do it now.

And that was about two, three years ago.

And then he kept on walking in that daily and saying, God, do it

again every day, Lord, renew me again.

Do it again.

And now, two, three, Years later, you've seen RJ just catapult

into a whole nother stratosphere of who God is calling

him to do.

Why is that?

Because he decided to walk in where God is calling him.

He decided to silence the noise of everything around him and

say, I'm going to walk wholeheartedly.

I'm going to walk a wholehearted walk.

I'm going to walk in resilience and I'm going to receive

the restoration that you have for me.

Here's what I want you to do really quickly.

And here's the thing.

I'm going to tell you this right now.

Don't stand up.

I'm going to invite you to stand up.

But don't stand up if you're not ready to walk a wholehearted

walk.

If you're okay with being half hearted, that's okay for now, I'll

tell you that.

Just know what I said.

You heard what I said.

You were paying attention.

But I don't want you to stand up because everyone else around you

is standing up.

I want you to stand up because it's a declaration that you're making

that God, even when it's hard, I'm gonna walk wholeheartedly.

So if you're ready to silence the noise and walk a walk wholehearted,

I want you to stand as a declaration before God right now.

And I'll tell you right now, we're not gonna judge you if you

don't.

You see, when you silence the noise and walk wholeheartedly, here's

what God promises.

Long Island.

I want to let you know this, Brooklyn.

I want to let you know this, Indiana.

Listen closely online if you're standing.

The reward of a wholehearted walk is restoration.

In Joshua, chapter 14, 1314, the Bible says, then Joshua blessed

Joshua 14 · chapter mention

Caleb, son of Jephunneh, and gave him Hebron as his inheritance.

So Hebron has belonged to Caleb, son of Jepunah, the Kenizzite,

ever since because he followed the Lord, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly.

Remember, restoration means not just getting back what was lost,

but receiving the fullness of what God always intended.

A wholehearted walk blesses not just you, it also blesses your

legacy.

You see, the thing is, you're gonna.

You're gonna have a legacy either way.

The Israelites had a legacy.

It was wandering in death.

But Caleb and Joshua, Caleb had a legacy.

And it was somewhere, it was one that we can talk about even to

this day, that were willing to scream out from the rooftop.

A wholehearted walk breeds.

Breeds a characteristic, a character A characteristic of resilience.

And eventually you receive a reward of restoration.

But half hearted will lead you to wandering in circles trying to

figure it out on your own and eventually die.

Don't just survive the wilderness.

Inherit the promise.

It's time to walk a wholehearted walk.

Recently I was, a couple of years ago, I moved into my house

and Pastor Mary and I, we, you know, our finances were where it

was supposed to be and everything.

But then, you know, you start looking at your neighbors, you see

the things they have.

You look at the houses, you walk the neighborhoods.

And so I was like, man, I like their curb appeal.

I want to get curb appeal like that too.

You know, we did some renovations in our home and everything

like that.

And in the process of us getting a house, we also got a financial

coach.

And the financial coach knew what our situation was then.

And a couple of years, a couple of weeks, months ago, actually,

I spoke to my financial coach again and we opened up the books.

He looked at everything and he looked at it and said, you guys don't

look like you went anywhere.

You look like you didn't do anything.

It's been years.

Your finances look worse than where it was before.

By now you should have been way past this half hearted.

And the thing is, what you have to understand, you gotta be

willing to die daily.

You gotta be willing to silence the noise of everything around

you, of what you're seeing, your perspective and all of these

things, and say, God, I know where you're calling me to, and I'm

going to receive that restoration that you have for me.

I'm gonna walk in resilience.

And so for each and every one of you that are standing today, for

each and every one of you that are standing right now in this moment

and saying, I'm willing to walk a wholehearted walk, I'm going

to ask you to do me a favor.

I want you to close your eyes and I want you to actually do yourself

a favor and allow me to pray this prayer over your life.

I want you to listen to every single word, close your eyes so that

way you can truly hear the words that are coming out of my mouth.

Father, today we choose a wholehearted walk.

We silence every voice of fear, every lie of comparison, every

chain of addiction, every whisper of the enemy.

Lord, we crucify our flesh, our pride, our self made plans.

And we say, not my will, but yours be done.

God, raise up a resilient generation.

Let a Caleb spirit fall on your, on these people, Lord God,

on your people.

Strong at 25 but strong at 45 and even stronger at 85.

Still declaring.

Give me this mountain.

Lord, we declare restoration over families, over marriages, over

generations.

What the enemy stole, you will restore.

What trauma broke, you will mend.

What fierce silence, Lord, you will awaken with faith.

Father, make us a people with a whole hearted walk.

One that says nevertheless in our faith, in our families, in our

finances, in our future, Lord, we die daily so you can live fully

in us.

In Jesus name, let V1 church a whole hearted walk generation say

Amen.
