  1. If you're able, would you like to stand, please?

  2. This is no purpose whatsoever, only that was a long reading,

  3. and I kind of thought I would try and get you out of a coma before I put you in one.

  4. So you can sit down again now.

  5. We read in Exodus chapter 14 that that day,

    Exodus 14 chapter mention

  6. the Lord saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians.

  7. As Russ has told you, we're in the middle of a course of messages about great journeys of the Bible,

  8. and surely this must rank as one of the greatest journeys ever.

  9. And if you'll allow me for a moment, just a little bit of background to that particular journey.

  10. In Exodus chapter 1, we read that the Israelites were in a terrible situation.

    Exodus 1 chapter mention

  11. They had basically been taken off to Egypt and held in captivity there as slaves.

  12. Just to give you a flavor of that, in Exodus chapter 1, we read this,

    Exodus 1 chapter mention

  13. So they put slave masters over them, that is the Israelites, to oppress them with forced labor.

  14. And they built Pithom and Ramesses as store cities for Pharaoh.

  15. The Israelites carried a very strong reputation of being hardy and hardworking people.

  16. Indeed, the women of Israel were envied by the women of Egypt

  17. because they clearly found childbirth less of a problem than the Egyptian women did.

  18. They gave birth easily and in numbers.

  19. And because of that, Pharaoh, who clearly had a touch of the paranoid about him,

  20. decided that he would instigate a rather brutal form of birth control.

  21. And he did that by declaring that any son born to a Hebrew woman would be killed.

  22. That is why Moses' mother decided this is very risky business.

  23. And you remember the story.

  24. She took him down to the river, River Nile.

  25. And she put him in a basket, which she sealed around the edge with tar.

  26. And she put a little baby in there and hid him in the rushes.

  27. And one of Pharaoh's daughter's slave girls found him and took him back.

  28. The slave girl wet-nurced him till he grew up and then he was handed over to Pharaoh's daughter.

  29. I imagine that after a slightly sticky start,

  30. life was fairly easy for Moses as the daughter of Pharaoh looked after him.

  31. But Moses was a Hebrew and knew himself to be a Hebrew.

  32. And what we read about in chapter 2 is an unfortunate incident in the life of Moses.

  33. He saw two Egyptians beating an Israelite.

  34. And he took the law into his own hand and killed the Egyptian.

  35. This is serious stuff, is it not?

  36. And in these days of identity politics,

  37. there's an interesting example of somebody who was found in the rushes,

  38. who was brought up amongst the Egyptians,

  39. knew himself to be an Israelite.

  40. And then this amazing story in chapter 3,

  41. where God calls Moses to lead his people out of bondage towards the promised land.

  42. You remember that Moses himself would never lead the people into the promised land.

  43. It would be Joshua who would do that.

  44. And the reason that Moses would not lead them into the,

  45. across the Red Sea,

  46. sorry, would not lead them into the promised land,

  47. was that Moses had been disobedient to the Lord.

  48. And the Lord made it clear,

  49. it is because of your sin that you will not enter the promised land.

  50. Just as a kind of bonus point this morning,

  51. I just want to remind you of something really important.

  52. And that is,

  53. God is not looking for spiritual or moral perfection in people

  54. before he speaks to them and calls them into his service.

  55. The reason I'm saying that to you is,

  56. I just had a real sense to this morning,

  57. that some of you need to know,

  58. that if you wait till you're spiritually perfect,

  59. or morally perfect,

  60. before you hear the voice of God call you,

  61. I'm afraid, friends, you'll have a very long wait.

  62. Just think about Moses.

  63. Moses must have had some kind of confusion in his life.

  64. Abandoned, in a sense, by his own mother,

  65. found by somebody else who was not his mother,

  66. brought up in a foreign culture.

  67. There isn't a psychologist living

  68. who wouldn't like to get Moses on their couch.

  69. And then,

  70. he commits murder.

  71. He kills an Egyptian.

  72. And some of you,

  73. saying to yourself,

  74. well, I'm not that bad, you know.

  75. But then when you think about it,

  76. what you do is you exclude yourself

  77. from the calling that God has for you individually,

  78. by worrying about whether you're good enough,

  79. whether you're spiritual enough.

  80. Why, I even know saints

  81. who won't come to prayer meetings

  82. because they're frightened if they prayed aloud,

  83. people might judge them.

  84. This is important stuff.

  85. And if you think about it,

  86. when Jesus came to choose his disciples,

  87. he chose people like insurgents,

  88. zealots, as they were called in those days.

  89. He chose tax collectors,

  90. hated by their own people.

  91. See, if you sit there and preclude yourself

  92. on the basis that you're not good enough,

  93. that is the tragedy.

  94. of an unopened life.

  95. A lot of you sit in church on Sundays.

  96. I know this.

  97. It's out of a dogged persistence

  98. and faithfulness that you come.

  99. And we thank God that you're here.

  100. But actually,

  101. you're a little frustrated.

  102. You might talk with your friends

  103. and say stuff like,

  104. I didn't get much out of church today.

  105. Maybe God's whispering in your ear

  106. and asking you what you put into it today,

  107. this past week.

  108. What are you going to do this coming week?

  109. And Moses was not only uncertain

  110. when God called him

  111. that he'd be the right person.

  112. You remember he had this

  113. fascinating dialogue with God

  114. where he says,

  115. I can't go out

  116. because I don't even know your name.

  117. And God says,

  118. I am.

  119. I am.

  120. Moses feels the inadequacy

  121. of God's call upon him

  122. to take on this great task

  123. and says,

  124. who is going to take any notice of me?

  125. Least of all,

  126. Pharaoh.

  127. And God empowers Moses

  128. by giving the staff

  129. that he carried

  130. to look after the flocks

  131. in Midian

  132. as a kind of supernatural tool.

  133. Heard a sermon

  134. many years ago

  135. where it was referred to

  136. as the rod of God.

  137. Remember,

  138. he threw it on the ground

  139. and it turned

  140. into a serpent.

  141. And at the edge

  142. of the Red Sea,

  143. he stretched out his arms

  144. with his rod.

  145. And the waters divided.

  146. And also,

  147. Moses said to God,

  148. I'm not a speaker.

  149. I have no eloquence.

  150. So God said,

  151. well, I'll give you Aaron,

  152. your brother,

  153. to come alongside you.

  154. I mean, as it transpires,

  155. Aaron was a bit

  156. of a mixed blessing.

  157. Listen,

  158. here's my point.

  159. Don't preclude

  160. what God might do

  161. in your life

  162. by wondering

  163. if you're worthy enough,

  164. spiritual enough,

  165. ready enough.

  166. God loves people

  167. who say yes,

  168. not yes,

  169. but.

  170. And so we come

  171. to this reading

  172. in chapter 14,

  173. one of the most

  174. remarkable pieces

  175. of history

  176. ever recorded

  177. as far as I can see.

  178. and it's a story

  179. that reminds us

  180. of three fundamental truths

  181. which we need today

  182. if we are to negotiate

  183. this secular world

  184. in which we find ourselves.

  185. The first point is this.

  186. God shows us

  187. in this story

  188. that he is a liberator.

  189. He is a God

  190. who sets people free.

  191. Someone say amen.

  192. Amen.

  193. The second thing is

  194. this story shows us

  195. that God has a particular love

  196. for his people.

  197. And it also tells us

  198. that God has a life

  199. for us to live

  200. when we have faith

  201. in him.

  202. In chapter 14,

  203. this is not entirely evident

  204. from the text,

  205. but what has happened is

  206. the Jews,

  207. the people of God,

  208. have found themselves

  209. in this narrow

  210. and foreboding valley.

  211. At one end of the valley

  212. is the Red Sea

  213. and at the other end

  214. of the valley

  215. is Pharaoh

  216. with what sounds to me

  217. like a very technologically

  218. advanced army

  219. ready to capture the Jews

  220. and take them back

  221. to Israel.

  222. They are trapped.

  223. And we thank God today

  224. that God is a God

  225. who liberates.

  226. In Luke's Gospel

  227. in chapter 4,

  228. we read there

  229. this amazing agenda

  230. that Jesus sets

  231. for himself.

  232. The so-called

  233. Nazarene agenda.

  234. Jesus is teaching

  235. in the synagogue.

  236. He picks up

  237. the scroll of Isaiah

  238. and says this,

  239. The Spirit of the Lord

  240. is on me

  241. because he has anointed me

  242. to preach good news

  243. to the poor.

  244. He sent me

  245. to proclaim freedom

  246. for the prisoners

  247. and recovery of sight

  248. for the blind,

  249. to release the oppressed,

  250. to proclaim the year

  251. of the Lord's favour.

  252. Don't tell me

  253. that God

  254. isn't in the business

  255. of real liberation,

  256. of setting people free.

  257. And today,

  258. there are lots of people

  259. who feel trapped.

  260. Trapped by circumstances

  261. around them.

  262. Psychology

  263. as a discipline

  264. has a number

  265. of controversies,

  266. always had to stun,

  267. and probably always will do.

  268. I suppose today

  269. a good example

  270. of that would be

  271. there are some

  272. eminent psychologists

  273. who really support

  274. the idea of ADHD

  275. and some who really don't.

  276. Or the treatment

  277. of people

  278. who have

  279. gender dysphoria.

  280. At what age

  281. do you start

  282. to treat children

  283. and give them

  284. gender-altering drugs?

  285. These are controversies,

  286. but one thing

  287. psychology

  288. is entirely clear about

  289. is that if you are trapped,

  290. this feel trapped,

  291. this will have

  292. awful consequences

  293. in your life.

  294. You are likely

  295. to suffer from anxiety.

  296. You are likely

  297. to be depressed.

  298. And that stands to reason,

  299. I mean,

  300. it's generally intuitive,

  301. isn't it,

  302. that if you're a person

  303. who feels trapped

  304. in life,

  305. you are not going

  306. to feel great

  307. every day.

  308. What are the kinds

  309. of things

  310. that trap us?

  311. Well,

  312. lack of economic resources

  313. would be near

  314. the top of the list.

  315. Or being trapped

  316. in an abusive relationship.

  317. Or trapped by illness

  318. or disability

  319. or addiction

  320. or anxiety.

  321. God

  322. wants to set people free.

  323. And this is,

  324. in a sense,

  325. a kind of living out

  326. live parable

  327. of that truth.

  328. Here are the Israelites

  329. trapped.

  330. No choice whatsoever

  331. as to what to do

  332. other than

  333. to believe God.

  334. Jesus liberates

  335. people then.

  336. And he liberates

  337. people today.

  338. And I just want you

  339. to note this strange

  340. bit in chapter 14.

  341. When the people

  342. of God

  343. start to,

  344. to use a golfing

  345. phrase,

  346. waggle on the tee,

  347. they're starting

  348. to wonder

  349. whether it was

  350. a good idea

  351. to follow Moses

  352. out of bondage

  353. in Egypt.

  354. People have short

  355. memories,

  356. we say,

  357. don't they?

  358. And they've clearly

  359. forgotten what a brutal

  360. and terrible regime

  361. they lived under

  362. in Egypt.

  363. They were given

  364. quotas to make bricks

  365. but not given

  366. enough raw materials

  367. to even make

  368. the lowest figure

  369. of the quota.

  370. And if they didn't

  371. make the quota,

  372. they were ritually

  373. beaten.

  374. This was not

  375. fun.

  376. And so they say

  377. to Moses,

  378. it says they were

  379. terrified and cried

  380. out to the Lord,

  381. was it because

  382. there were no graves

  383. in Egypt that you

  384. brought us to the

  385. desert to die?

  386. What have you done

  387. to us by bringing

  388. us out into Egypt?

  389. Leave us alone,

  390. let us serve the

  391. Egyptians.

  392. It would have been

  393. better for us to

  394. serve the Egyptians

  395. than to die

  396. in the desert.

  397. Amen.

  398. Friend, I wonder

  399. if you've ever

  400. known that terrible

  401. desperation, a feeling

  402. so trapped that you

  403. have no idea which

  404. way to turn.

  405. Listen, if that's

  406. you, you need to hear

  407. what Moses responds

  408. to the people.

  409. He says this to them,

  410. don't be afraid,

  411. stand firm, and you

  412. will see the

  413. deliverance the Lord

  414. will bring you

  415. today.

  416. The Egyptians you

  417. see today, you

  418. will never see

  419. again.

  420. Could we believe

  421. that the God who

  422. liberates could take

  423. our desperation and

  424. turn it round?

  425. Interesting little

  426. point here.

  427. Moses says to them,

  428. stand firm.

  429. Actually, the Hebrew

  430. word there means

  431. stand still.

  432. You know, when

  433. you're in panic

  434. mode, you become a

  435. bit frenzy, don't

  436. you?

  437. I mean, the obvious

  438. thing would be in

  439. this situation would

  440. have been for the

  441. people of God to

  442. run away.

  443. And Moses says,

  444. stand still.

  445. You know, I

  446. couldn't read that

  447. verse without

  448. thinking of Psalm

  449. 46.

  450. Be still and

  451. know that I

  452. am God.

  453. Maybe those of

  454. you who are

  455. feeling trapped,

  456. those of you who

  457. are feeling

  458. desperate, before

  459. you do something,

  460. maybe the wise

  461. thing to do

  462. would just be to

  463. take a deep

  464. breath and

  465. remember Psalm

    Psalms 46:10

  466. 46, verse

  467. 10.

  468. be still and

  469. know that I

  470. am God.

  471. I will be

  472. exalted among

  473. the nations.

  474. The God who

  475. will be exalted

  476. among the nations

  477. is the God who

  478. knows you

  479. intimately.

  480. Psalm 139.

  481. Read that.

  482. God who

  483. will be

  484. God.

  485. It even

  486. says in the

  487. New Testament,

  488. Jesus says,

  489. God even

  490. knows how

  491. many hairs

  492. on your

  493. head are

  494. counted.

  495. I know

  496. that's not a

  497. big challenge

  498. in my case.

  499. Take a

  500. breath.

  501. Be still

  502. and know

  503. that I am

  504. God.

  505. Second thing

  506. is it's a

  507. story of

  508. God's love

  509. for his

  510. people.

  511. These people

  512. had in a

  513. sense been

  514. in a kind

  515. of spiritual

  516. vacuum while

  517. they had been

  518. held in

  519. Egypt.

  520. And at the

  521. end of it,

  522. in chapter 15,

  523. which we

  524. didn't read,

  525. there is this

  526. amazing,

  527. poetic song

  528. of Moses.

  529. You can read

  530. it,

  531. Exodus chapter

    Exodus 15 chapter mention

  532. 15.

  533. This is

  534. what Moses

  535. sings to

  536. God.

  537. In your

  538. unfailing

  539. love, you

  540. will lead

  541. the people

  542. you have

  543. redeemed.

  544. In your

  545. strength, you

  546. will guide

  547. them to

  548. your holy

  549. dwelling.

  550. The nations

  551. will hear

  552. and tremble.

  553. Anguish

  554. will grip

  555. the people

  556. of Philistia.

  557. In your

  558. unfailing

  559. love.

  560. I wonder

  561. if there

  562. are people

  563. in the

  564. house today

  565. who know

  566. that truth

  567. inside out.

  568. They can

  569. recite

  570. John chapter

    John 3 chapter mention

  571. 3 and

  572. verse 16.

  573. God so

  574. loved the

  575. world that

  576. he gave

  577. his only

  578. son that

  579. whoever

  580. believes in

  581. him should

  582. not perish

  583. but have

  584. everlasting

  585. life.

  586. But actually

  587. there's a

  588. little voice

  589. in the

  590. other ear

  591. saying,

  592. but does

  593. he love

  594. me?

  595. I'm thinking

  596. about those

  597. of you

  598. who feel

  599. that life

  600. has been

  601. very tough

  602. and very

  603. challenging

  604. and very

  605. difficult.

  606. And there's

  607. a little bit

  608. of you

  609. that when we

  610. sing songs

  611. about God's

  612. love,

  613. when we pray

  614. prayers expressing

  615. God's love,

  616. just feel a

  617. few percent

  618. resentful.

  619. Notice

  620. this,

  621. Moses,

  622. in your

  623. unfailing

  624. love,

  625. you will

  626. lead the

  627. people you

  628. have

  629. redeemed.

  630. God still

  631. loves you

  632. even though

  633. you may

  634. not feel

  635. it right

  636. now.

  637. There's a

  638. children's

  639. book just

  640. come out.

  641. I haven't

  642. read it

  643. myself but

  644. I read,

  645. I heard a

  646. brother give

  647. a very moving

  648. analysis.

  649. It's a

  650. children's book

  651. which adults

  652. love to

  653. read.

  654. And it's

  655. called

  656. The Moon

  657. Is Round.

  658. And the

  659. point is,

  660. the example

  661. that the

  662. writer uses

  663. is that we

  664. look into

  665. the sky

  666. 30 days,

  667. 29 days

  668. of a month

  669. and we

  670. see a

  671. different shape

  672. than a

  673. round moon.

  674. And the

  675. month starts

  676. with the

  677. moon which

  678. is a

  679. crescent.

  680. The point

  681. being,

  682. when we

  683. look at

  684. the moon

  685. and only

  686. see the

  687. crescent,

  688. it doesn't

  689. mean that

  690. the moon

  691. isn't round

  692. anymore.

  693. it means

  694. we only

  695. see a

  696. little bit

  697. of the

  698. moon

  699. through the

  700. sun's

  701. light.

  702. We need

  703. to remember

  704. those of

  705. us who

  706. are feeling

  707. a little

  708. resentful,

  709. maybe a

  710. little

  711. questioning

  712. as to

  713. whether

  714. God

  715. loves us,

  716. that our

  717. experience

  718. of life

  719. is like

  720. looking at

  721. the moon

  722. and only

  723. seeing a

  724. little bit,

  725. but the

  726. moon is

  727. round.

  728. God

  729. loves you.

  730. And the

  731. evidence for

  732. that we

  733. shall be

  734. bringing to

  735. mind in

  736. this service

  737. of Holy

  738. Communion.

  739. And thirdly

  740. and finally,

  741. it's a

  742. story about

  743. God's

  744. gift of

  745. life.

  746. It was

  747. after the

  748. people of

  749. Israel had

  750. crossed over

  751. the Red

  752. Sea in

  753. that remarkable

  754. way that

  755. God gave

  756. them the

  757. Ten

  758. Commandments.

  759. You remember

  760. the story

  761. where Moses

  762. climbs up

  763. Mount Sinai.

  764. Has

  765. anybody in

  766. the house

  767. been at

  768. Mount Sinai?

  769. It is a

  770. terrible climb

  771. at the end

  772. of it.

  773. I mean,

  774. goodness knows

  775. how he

  776. staggered down

  777. with tablets

  778. of stone.

  779. I think

  780. the last

  781. bit of

  782. climbing it,

  783. I've done

  784. it,

  785. is nearly

  786. 800 steps,

  787. uneven steps.

  788. I went

  789. halfway up

  790. on a camel,

  791. I'll never

  792. do that

  793. again.

  794. It's a good

  795. job Anthony

  796. and I

  797. decided we

  798. didn't want

  799. any more

  800. children.

  801. and we

  802. walked to

  803. the top

  804. and Moses

  805. goes up

  806. Mount Sinai

  807. and comes

  808. down with

  809. the Ten

  810. Commandments.

  811. If you're

  812. unaware of

  813. this, and

  814. you certainly

  815. would have

  816. been taught

  817. it if you've

  818. been to

  819. university in

  820. the last

  821. 25 years,

  822. these Ten

  823. Commandments

  824. form the

  825. basis of

  826. our legal

  827. system,

  828. to some

  829. extent our

  830. culture,

  831. both here

  832. and in the

  833. wider

  834. Western world.

  835. You might

  836. like to try

  837. an experiment,

  838. go home and

  839. look at

  840. Exodus chapter

    Exodus 20 chapter mention

  841. 20 and look

  842. at all those

  843. Ten Commandments

  844. and ask

  845. yourself,

  846. who in this

  847. world in which

  848. we live today

  849. believes in

  850. any of these?

  851. your answer

  852. might be,

  853. well, you

  854. know, we

  855. don't think

  856. that murdering

  857. people is a

  858. good idea.

  859. Let me tell

  860. you that we

  861. still live in a

  862. world, although

  863. violence is

  864. diminishing,

  865. violence against

  866. women and

  867. girls in

  868. 2023, there

  869. are over a

  870. million reported

  871. crimes, 20%

  872. of all reported

  873. crime was

  874. violence against

  875. women and

  876. girls.

  877. Why did

  878. God give

  879. the Israelites

  880. Ten Commandments

  881. and subsequently,

  882. of course, the

  883. rabbis added

  884. loads and

  885. loads of

  886. extra laws to

  887. them?

  888. Why would

  889. the God

  890. who's here to

  891. set us free

  892. tie us down

  893. with laws?

  894. That's a

  895. great question.

  896. Theologically,

  897. philosophically.

  898. And the

  899. answer is

  900. that in

  901. God's mind,

  902. we will live

  903. lives to

  904. the full

  905. when we

  906. live how

  907. he wants

  908. us to

  909. live.

  910. That's not

  911. just a kind

  912. of out-there

  913. theory.

  914. That is

  915. where it

  916. depends on

  917. you.

  918. God

  919. will

  920. do.

  921. It

  922. flies

  923. completely

  924. in the

  925. face of

  926. the current

  927. idea of

  928. freedom.

  929. I can

  930. do what

  931. the heck

  932. I want

  933. as long

  934. as it

  935. doesn't harm

  936. anybody else.

  937. No.

  938. God

  939. elucidates

  940. through the

  941. Ten Commandments

  942. a really

  943. important reality

  944. about our

  945. nature.

  946. And it's

  947. this,

  948. that to

  949. live a life

  950. with God,

  951. you have to

  952. limit your

  953. options.

  954. If you

  955. claim to

  956. be a

  957. disciple of

  958. Jesus Christ,

  959. adultery is

  960. no longer

  961. an option.

  962. If you

  963. claim to

  964. follow Jesus

  965. Christ,

  966. idolatry is

  967. not a

  968. problem.

  969. Sorry,

  970. it's not an

  971. option.

  972. If you

  973. claim to

  974. follow Jesus

  975. Christ,

  976. coveting your

  977. neighbor's

  978. ox,

  979. well,

  980. maybe it's

  981. BMW,

  982. is not

  983. an option.

  984. God

  985. thinks

  986. that if

  987. we live

  988. as he

  989. wants us

  990. to live,

  991. our life

  992. will have

  993. some

  994. limitations.

  995. Surely,

  996. that is

  997. self-evidently

  998. true.

  999. Moses

  1000. was one

  1001. man who

  1002. stood up

  1003. and saved

  1004. a nation.

  1005. And we're

  1006. here at

  1007. Holy Communion

  1008. this morning

  1009. to worship

  1010. the man

  1011. Jesus,

  1012. the Son

  1013. of God,

  1014. who will

  1015. save and

  1016. set free

  1017. anyone who

  1018. trusts in

  1019. him.

  1020. John 8,

    John 8:36

  1021. verse 36,

  1022. if the Son

  1023. shall set

  1024. you free,

  1025. you should

  1026. be free

  1027. indeed.

  1028. John 6,

    John 6:37

  1029. verse 37,

  1030. Jesus said,

  1031. I will

  1032. never,

  1033. never turn

  1034. away anyone

  1035. who turns

  1036. to me.

  1037. I think

  1038. today,

  1039. friends,

  1040. we have

  1041. some thinking

  1042. to do.

  1043. What about

  1044. those of

  1045. you whom

  1046. God has

  1047. whispered in

  1048. your ear

  1049. and told

  1050. you,

  1051. no more

  1052. precluding

  1053. myself for

  1054. what I want

  1055. for you by

  1056. believing you're

  1057. not good

  1058. enough,

  1059. not spiritual

  1060. enough.

  1061. Stop

  1062. that now.

  1063. two is,

  1064. for those

  1065. of you who

  1066. are trapped,

  1067. never believe

  1068. that there

  1069. isn't a

  1070. way out.

  1071. But there's

  1072. only one

  1073. way,

  1074. and that is

  1075. to reorientate

  1076. your life

  1077. around following

  1078. God in

  1079. Jesus Christ

  1080. our Lord.

  1081. It's a story

  1082. that reminds

  1083. us that

  1084. God's love

  1085. for us,

  1086. even though

  1087. he knows

  1088. us intimately,

  1089. is profound.

  1090. It is

  1091. unending,

  1092. it is

  1093. never

  1094. ceasing,

  1095. it is

  1096. relentless.

  1097. Maybe

  1098. God's

  1099. whispering in

  1100. the ear of

  1101. those of

  1102. you who

  1103. come to

  1104. church,

  1105. but actually

  1106. the truth

  1107. is,

  1108. you're just

  1109. a little

  1110. bit resentful.

  1111. You know,

  1112. I know God

  1113. loves most

  1114. people,

  1115. I don't

  1116. know if

  1117. he loves

  1118. me.

  1119. And it's

  1120. a story

  1121. about God's

  1122. gift of

  1123. life.

  1124. Life in

  1125. its fullness,

  1126. but life

  1127. with a

  1128. difference.

  1129. Life that

  1130. willingly

  1131. lays down

  1132. some options

  1133. in our

  1134. lives in

  1135. order that

  1136. we might

  1137. live holy

  1138. lives.

  1139. And,

  1140. listen,

  1141. if you're

  1142. frightened about

  1143. that,

  1144. if you're

  1145. frightened by

  1146. the idea that

  1147. there is a

  1148. habit in your

  1149. life which

  1150. you know is

  1151. wrong,

  1152. which you

  1153. would love

  1154. to be

  1155. released

  1156. from,

  1157. then don't

  1158. forget that

  1159. God sent

  1160. his Holy

  1161. Spirit to

  1162. help us,

  1163. to set us

  1164. free from

  1165. those things

  1166. that disrupt

  1167. our relationship

  1168. with God.

  1169. On that

  1170. day,

  1171. God delivered

  1172. Israel from

  1173. the hands of

  1174. Egypt.

  1175. Maybe on

  1176. this day,

  1177. God will

  1178. deliver you

  1179. from whatever

  1180. is trapping

  1181. you.

  1182. Let's pray.

  1183. our God

  1184. and Father,

  1185. this is such

  1186. an amazing

  1187. story.

  1188. A story

  1189. of freedom,

  1190. a story

  1191. about your

  1192. amazing and

  1193. relentless

  1194. love,

  1195. and a story

  1196. about the

  1197. life you

  1198. have for

  1199. each of

  1200. us,

  1201. provided,

  1202. provided,

  1203. we trust

  1204. you.

  1205. And

  1206. Father,

  1207. I want to

  1208. pray this

  1209. morning that

  1210. for anybody

  1211. who has

  1212. been spoken

  1213. to by you,

  1214. Lord,

  1215. they wouldn't

  1216. just go home

  1217. and eat

  1218. lunch,

  1219. but Lord,

  1220. today they

  1221. might do

  1222. something,

  1223. tell a

  1224. friend,

  1225. join the

  1226. prayer team,

  1227. go to the

  1228. prayer team

  1229. and be

  1230. prayed with.

  1231. Lord,

  1232. we know

  1233. this is

  1234. too

  1235. important

  1236. for us

  1237. just to

  1238. mildly

  1239. let your

  1240. voice

  1241. pass us

  1242. by.

  1243. Speak,

  1244. Lord,

  1245. in the

  1246. stillness

  1247. as we

  1248. wait on

  1249. thee.

  1250. be still

  1251. and know

  1252. that I

  1253. am God.

  1254. Even so,

  1255. come Lord

  1256. Jesus and

  1257. the people

  1258. who agreed

  1259. said

  1260. together,

  1261. said

  1262. together,

  1263. Amen.

  1264. Amen.

  1265. Amen.

  1266. Amen.

  1267. Amen.

  1268. Amen.

  1269. Amen.

  1270. Amen.

  1271. Amen.

  1272. Amen.

  1273. Amen.

  1274. Amen.

  1275. Amen.

  1276. Amen.

  1277. Amen.

  1278. Amen.

  1279. Amen.

  1280. Amen.

  1281. Amen.

  1282. Amen.

  1283. Amen.
