  1. Actually, I've been reading a book recently. I started it. I've only gone through chapter one, so I don't have a lot of authority on the book, but it's called The Burden is Light.

  2. It's been a great book by one of my favorite pastors called John Tyson. One of the exercises that he does at the beginning of the book is talk about a life planning exercise that him and his wife did.

  3. So he plotted a chart, X and Y axis, plus and minus, and then he basically thought back to the whole of his life and tried to remember the moments in his life that were turning points, where once that moment happened, there was no turning back, for better or for worse.

  4. Those moments in your life that really define who you are right now, you're sat here today.

  5. Juju says he doesn't know where he'd be without his mother. He just wouldn't be. But there are moments in our lives that define who we are.

  6. For me, maybe my first one was when I was seven years old, when I was playing football at school and came home and I love football.

  7. My favorite football team has not been doing too well. But then my mom says, hey, you need to change sports because you're not tall enough.

  8. Actually, everyone who plays basketball gets tall. So you should play basketball.

  9. So she took me to my first ever after school basketball class. And clearly she was right because I am now the tallest in my family.

  10. So that was a that was a turning point for me once I touched that basketball.

  11. Another one was maybe when I was 11. Growing up in the UK, we came back to Hong Kong to holiday.

  12. And for some reason in the UK, we weren't allowed to wander the streets by ourselves because it's dangerous.

  13. Well, even more so now. But in Hong Kong, in Yuen Long, my parents were just like, oh, just go.

  14. Just go and buy some food. And as an 11 year old, I went downstairs, walked the streets, decided what I want to do and bought it.

  15. And the freedom that I felt changed my life forever.

  16. No turning back after that.

  17. My first girlfriend. I won't say what age, but Christina, my first girlfriend.

  18. The moment I met her, there was no turning back.

  19. Christina, my last girlfriend.

  20. Won't talk about what's in between, but no turning back.

  21. 17.

  22. When we were having dinner as a family on Joe's birthday, I've shared this before, and dad passes away and enters into glory.

  23. There is no turning back.

  24. Going to university.

  25. And then becoming a teacher at 23.

  26. Teaching in front of high school students.

  27. There's no turning back. That's where you sink or you swim.

  28. And then at 24, deciding to get married.

  29. There is no turning back.

  30. The beginning of the end was when it started.

  31. That was the last moment where I still had a head full of hair, and things were just going downhill from there.

  32. Number of years into teaching.

  33. By the time I reached 30, feeling the call of God to go into ministry.

  34. 2015 was when we quit teaching and working in the hospital, and we started to go into seminaries and training, Christina training counseling.

  35. There was no turning back from that.

  36. And then in 2018, we got the call from God to come to Hong Kong.

  37. There was no turning back.

  38. What's your moment of no turning back?

  39. Well, what are your moments when that happened, you were never the same person before?

  40. Gracie, I know you're about to have one coming up, but think back in the past.

  41. What was the turning moment in your life where you're like, that happened, and there's no going back now?

  42. Entering in the industry.

  43. Entering in the industry.

  44. Yeah.

  45. A whole other life.

  46. A whole other life.

  47. The entertainment industry and everything that it demanded of you.

  48. From that moment, it defined who you were in a different way.

  49. Yeah.

  50. No turning back.

  51. Sam, what about you?

  52. Was there a moment in your life where that happened and you weren't the same?

  53. Brain tumor.

  54. Brain tumor.

  55. How old were you?

  56. 26.

  57. 26.

  58. 26.

  59. And what impact did that have on your life?

  60. The physical toll and the healing was one part, but mentally, spiritually, personally,

  61. that took place after.

  62. The physical, the spiritual, the mental toll at 26, having a brain tumor, and the trajectory

  63. that sent you on.

  64. There was no turning back.

  65. We all have those moments.

  66. The people of God had those moments too.

  67. If you think about Adam and Eve walking in the garden and then making that decision and

  68. turning, and there was no turning back.

  69. They couldn't stay in the garden anymore.

  70. You fast forward to Genesis 6 and you see Noah being the only family that was righteous,

  71. that was considered righteous.

  72. And God saying, hey, actually, we have to hit the reset button here.

  73. And so I'm going to choose this one family and they're going to continue humanity.

  74. But it was only a couple chapters later, the descendants of Noah in chapter 10, where they

  75. start, well, actually, after the flood, God says, go fill the earth.

  76. Go fill the earth with my glory.

  77. Go fill it.

  78. What do they do?

  79. They don't do that.

  80. They stop and they say, hey, why don't we just stay?

  81. Instead of scattering and filling the earth, why don't we just stay and build our own tower?

  82. And why don't we make a name for ourselves?

  83. So only a couple chapters later, you see them falling into the same trap.

  84. But God promised not to have a flood again, so tries to spare them.

  85. And how does he spare them?

  86. The Tower of Babel.

  87. As they tried to build this tower, he said, well, actually, currently, Genesis 11 is where

  88. you'll see this.

  89. They're all speaking one language, but maybe if I let them all speak different languages,

  90. they won't be scheming towards their own self-pride.

  91. They won't be heading towards the same destruction that they had.

  92. That was a point of no turning back.

  93. And that's how languages were born.

  94. And then, of course, you've got Abraham.

  95. There was no turning back when he said, when God said, go, leave your country to a place

  96. where I'm going to lead you.

  97. And then, of course, you've got Isaac.

  98. And then you've got Jacob.

  99. There was no turning back when he wrestled with God and turned from Jacob into Israel.

  100. And then, of course, you had his sons, the 12 tribes of Israel that they would become.

  101. But Joseph, the spoilt younger boy, who ended up getting kicked out by his brothers,

  102. ends up going to Pharaoh, going to Egypt.

  103. And somehow, the Israelites end up in Egypt, saved by their little brother.

  104. There was no turning back.

  105. But then they get trapped in slavery there for hundreds of years.

  106. And then there's this boy, Moses, growing up in Pharaoh's house as a prince, the prince of Egypt.

  107. But sees an injustice and lashes out via impulse.

  108. There was no turning back for him.

  109. He heads into the wilderness himself, becomes a shepherd, and then sees a bush.

  110. But this bush is unique.

  111. It's different.

  112. It's strange.

  113. There's fire.

  114. It's a burning bush.

  115. He meets God.

  116. And there is no turning back.

  117. He goes back to Egypt.

  118. Says, let my people go.

  119. Then his people do get let go.

  120. That's the long story short.

  121. They go, and they don't really know where they're going.

  122. And then they see this pillar of fire at night to follow, to guide.

  123. If you saw that, there would be no turning back.

  124. If you saw the Red Sea part, there would be no turning back.

  125. But they're hard-hearted.

  126. They forget.

  127. They rebel.

  128. Then Moses has to go up to the mountain, Mount Sinai, Exodus 19, Exodus 20.

  129. He goes up to the mountain.

  130. God descends on the mountain like fire.

  131. So those at the foot of the mountain see the smoke.

  132. He gives Moses two iPads.

  133. The tablets with the commandments.

  134. Moses comes down.

  135. And he sees that the people have stopped worshipping the God who is fire.

  136. And is worshipping this gold little cow.

  137. There is no turning back.

  138. The church.

  139. The church had a moment where they could not turn back anymore.

  140. Jesus came.

  141. A lot of them followed him for three years.

  142. He dies.

  143. He resurrects.

  144. And then just before he ascends and returns to the Father, he says in Acts 1, this is where Gabe took us through these last two weeks.

  145. He says, go, the Holy Spirit will come upon you and you'll be my witnesses.

  146. In Jerusalem, in Judea, to Samaria and to the ends of the earth.

  147. And then he goes up and he flies off.

  148. And if I'm you, if I'm them, I'm just standing there going, where did he just go?

  149. What's he going to do?

  150. And then two angels look at him and look down and go, why are you still standing there?

  151. Why are you still staring at this guy?

  152. Go.

  153. He's going to come back again.

  154. 500 people saw him ascent.

  155. 500.

  156. Twice this room.

  157. 380 go home.

  158. They see something that they've never seen before.

  159. And they decide, oh, well, I guess we, I guess it's Sunday night.

  160. I guess we should go home, get ready for work for Monday.

  161. And they just continue with their lives.

  162. But 120 out of that 500, they say, guys, there's no turning back.

  163. We just saw someone that we followed for years do many miracles, die, come back to life, and fly.

  164. There's no turning back.

  165. We can't go home.

  166. Do you want to go?

  167. I can't go home.

  168. I'm changed forever.

  169. So they go.

  170. Now, history would tell us that the ascension happened around 40 days after the resurrection.

  171. What we're about to read, Pentecost happened 50 days after.

  172. So there were 10 days where these 120 who decided there is no turning back were just like, we just have to do something.

  173. We have to go somewhere.

  174. So where do they go?

  175. They go back to Jerusalem.

  176. They go into this upper room about the size of this group here.

  177. And they say, we're just going to, we're just going to wait for 10 days.

  178. I can imagine the first day.

  179. Okay, that was crazy, guys.

  180. I'm so gutted that I didn't get my phone out to film him flying up into the sky.

  181. Something is up with the world.

  182. And he's going to come back.

  183. So let's just go.

  184. Who knows when?

  185. Maybe it's this afternoon.

  186. Maybe you just need to pop up.

  187. Maybe Jesus just needed a toilet break.

  188. And he's going to come back.

  189. And he's going to come to save the world.

  190. But let's just go pray.

  191. Is that cool?

  192. And so we do it.

  193. Day one.

  194. Okay, I'm tired, guys.

  195. Let's go home.

  196. Day two.

  197. Day three.

  198. Day four.

  199. Can you imagine the conviction that these people had saying, we can't go back now?

  200. 10 days.

  201. Sometimes we wait for God.

  202. Say, God, why aren't you speaking to me about this?

  203. How long did you pray for?

  204. 10 minutes?

  205. 10 seconds?

  206. 10 days.

  207. These people waited.

  208. And finally, the moment comes.

  209. Finally, the moment that they've been waiting for.

  210. The moment that Jesus had promised them.

  211. Jesus said in John 16, hey, I know that you guys quite like me.

  212. And you're going to give up your lives for me.

  213. And you're going to follow me.

  214. But actually, let me tell you something even more crazy.

  215. It's actually better for you that I leave.

  216. Because someone's going to come and he's going to help you.

  217. His power is going to come upon you.

  218. And you're going to spread this word to the ends of the earth.

  219. So it's better for you that I leave.

  220. 10 days later, finally, it happens.

  221. And so we reach Acts chapter 2.

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  222. Can I invite you to stand for the word of the Lord?

  223. Amen.

  224. The coming of the Holy Spirit.

  225. When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place.

  226. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind.

  227. And it filled the entire house where they were sitting.

  228. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each of them.

  229. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues

  230. as the Spirit gave them utterance.

  231. Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven.

  232. And at this sound the multitude came together and they were bewildered.

  233. Because each one was hearing them speak in his own language.

  234. And they were amazed and astonished saying,

  235. Are not all these who are speaking Galileans?

  236. And how is it that we hear each of us in his own native language?

  237. Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia,

  238. Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,

  239. Phrygia and Pamphylia and Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene and visitors from Rome.

  240. Both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians.

  241. We hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.

  242. And all were amazed and perplexed saying to one another,

  243. What does this mean?

  244. But others mocking said,

  245. They are filled with new wine.

  246. This is the word of the Lord.

  247. Please take a seat.

  248. This is the church's birthday.

  249. Pentecost is the church's birthday where you see,

  250. And we sang it in the songs, King of Kings,

  251. Where the Spirit lit the flame.

  252. And now the church begins.

  253. There is no turning back from here.

  254. You could almost see someone fly into the sky

  255. And go back to your everyday life

  256. And really act as though nothing happened.

  257. But the moment the Holy Spirit comes,

  258. There is really no turning back.

  259. And so we're going to go through these verses

  260. And see what we learn from here.

  261. And it is a fascinating, fascinating story here

  262. That we see that Luke puts an account for.

  263. And he says this,

  264. When the day of Pentecost arrived,

  265. Just to note here,

  266. Pentecost didn't start in Acts 2.

  267. It's been around for a long time.

  268. The Israelites would celebrate Pentecost

  269. 50 days after the Passover.

  270. And it would be called the Festival of First Fruits.

  271. Of course, these people would rely on a harvest each time, each year.

  272. And so a Festival of First Fruits 50 days after Passover

  273. Is basically saying to God,

  274. Hey, we celebrate the food that you're gifting us.

  275. And as tradition went on,

  276. Not only would they celebrate the first fruits,

  277. They would also celebrate the law.

  278. Because it was also believed

  279. That it was about 50 days after Passover

  280. That Moses came down from the Mount of Sinai

  281. With the law of God.

  282. So they would celebrate really these two things.

  283. And they would all gather every year.

  284. Jews from all around the land,

  285. Is what it says here,

  286. From every nation under heaven

  287. Would come to Jerusalem to celebrate this festival.

  288. So that's why other people were outside.

  289. But remember, 120, they were still waiting.

  290. 10 days, day 10.

  291. They're like, we still cannot ignore what we saw.

  292. There's something here, and we must wait.

  293. That's what he told us to do.

  294. And so that's what we will do.

  295. And they were all together in one place.

  296. Same upper room.

  297. But commentators think, actually, that's not just a place.

  298. It's not just the time.

  299. It is these...

  300. Can you imagine just 120 people just every day

  301. Without any agenda,

  302. Without any expectation of what's going to happen.

  303. No one has any timeline.

  304. They're just waiting.

  305. What is that?

  306. That is unity.

  307. That is people of one spirit and one mind going,

  308. There is something here.

  309. We cannot ignore.

  310. So there was a unity that comes.

  311. And maybe that's the first point that I find interesting,

  312. But also a little bit ironic.

  313. When it comes to the Holy Spirit,

  314. Holy Spirit brings unity.

  315. But ironically,

  316. Even the church is constantly debating and discussing

  317. What the Holy Spirit is and what the Holy Spirit does.

  318. You've got different wings of Christianity,

  319. Whether the people on the Pentecostal side,

  320. Or the charismatic side,

  321. Or the reformed side,

  322. Or all these other sides which have different views

  323. On who the Holy Spirit is and what the Holy Spirit is doing.

  324. Maybe there are people who are perceived as more extreme

  325. In their experiences of the Holy Spirit.

  326. And so then another group will look at that and go,

  327. Well, we don't really want that.

  328. We're afraid of that.

  329. We don't really know what that is.

  330. You see, the Holy Spirit has an equal role in the Trinity.

  331. Yet depending on our own theological method,

  332. We may have emphasized one more or one less.

  333. So it's ironic here because these people were united.

  334. Together in one place.

  335. Waiting for the Spirit to come.

  336. And it says this, verse 2,

  337. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound

  338. Like a mighty rushing wind.

  339. Later in verse 3 it says this,

  340. And divided tongues as of fire.

  341. So a couple things there.

  342. It came from heaven.

  343. Which tells me something.

  344. That the Holy Spirit,

  345. When we're talking about the Holy Spirit,

  346. When we're talking about this,

  347. We're really not talking about anything natural.

  348. We're not talking about anything that can be proven

  349. From a scientific, natural place.

  350. That's not what we're talking about.

  351. It came from heaven.

  352. It came from heaven.

  353. And actually we can see that because how Luke describes the Holy Spirit,

  354. Or rather how the Apostle John describes his vision in Revelation,

  355. It's always like, it's like that.

  356. It's as of that.

  357. What he's saying is,

  358. I don't even have the words to describe what this is.

  359. This is from heaven.

  360. This is mind-boggling.

  361. I don't have the words to describe this.

  362. I don't have the mind to understand this.

  363. Which tells me something else about the Holy Spirit,

  364. On top of the fact that it really comes through unity,

  365. Is that we have to approach it with such humility.

  366. I've always said this.

  367. I'm not smart enough and experienced enough

  368. To be able to tell you what I think the Holy Spirit is,

  369. And who he is,

  370. And what he does.

  371. But I'm not sure I can confidently believe someone

  372. Who says that they do know everything about the Holy Spirit.

  373. Someone who doesn't seem to have the humility,

  374. And going, well, the Holy Spirit is something that is supernatural.

  375. His thoughts and ways are so much higher.

  376. It is mind-boggling.

  377. Well, our minds, our limited minds cannot understand this.

  378. And I think that's how we should approach anything to do with the Holy Spirit.

  379. That we simply do not know.

  380. Because if we did, we would be God.

  381. I've made the example before where,

  382. Imagine my dog, my toy poodle at home, Walter.

  383. Meets fellow canines and goes,

  384. Hey, guys, I've been studying the human race.

  385. The five humans that have been living in my flat.

  386. I think I understand what they're like.

  387. I understand what they do.

  388. I know where they go when they open that door and they leave.

  389. And they come back eight hours later.

  390. I know exactly what they're thinking, what they do.

  391. No, he won't. He's a dog.

  392. He has no idea.

  393. And yet sometimes us as human beings,

  394. I think when we are at fault of approaching issues of the Holy Spirit,

  395. issues of the supernatural world,

  396. we've got to be careful not to have the pride.

  397. That we come and go,

  398. Actually, he has revealed himself.

  399. Not just through the word,

  400. through experience.

  401. Some of you have had experiences with the Holy Spirit

  402. where he has spoken to you.

  403. And then you align it with the word and you go,

  404. That really is truly from God.

  405. But even through all of those things,

  406. my prayer is that even if I have those moments,

  407. I would present them and I would approach them with humility.

  408. Because we're dealing with something that is from heaven.

  409. We're dealing with something that we don't actually have the words to truly describe.

  410. As of wind.

  411. Like wind.

  412. As of fire.

  413. And of course, he goes into something that's actually very controversial in the church,

  414. which I will touch on very lightly here,

  415. because I don't think it's the main point of why Luke is sharing this to us,

  416. to debate this topic.

  417. And verse three,

  418. The Holy Spirit gives the gift of tongues.

  419. What is the gift of tongues?

  420. It is speaking in a different language.

  421. If you look at 1 Corinthians 13,

  422. you see the Apostle Paul talking about the tongues of men and the tongues of angels.

  423. And he says,

  424. If I speak in either of these and I don't have love,

  425. then it's just a noisy gong.

  426. It's worth nothing.

  427. But that says that there is the tongues of men,

  428. and then there is the tongues of angels.

  429. The tongues of angels can be described as glossolalia,

  430. where you can,

  431. sometimes you'll have heard people speaking in this,

  432. maybe during prayer,

  433. maybe during worship,

  434. where they're speaking in a language that you actually can't understand.

  435. And it's unintelligible,

  436. but it's just basically between them and God.

  437. And the Spirit is praying through them to God.

  438. But then there is another type,

  439. which is the tongues of men,

  440. which I think is what is happening here in Acts 2,

  441. because these people,

  442. these 120,

  443. they're filled with the Holy Spirit,

  444. and then suddenly the Holy Spirit gives them the gift

  445. of speaking in tongues,

  446. and they speak a different language.

  447. A language that they don't understand,

  448. and they don't know.

  449. I think it's key,

  450. it's important here,

  451. because if you go into the next bit,

  452. you'll see,

  453. this is how the church has started.

  454. This is how the church has started,

  455. because others outside see this,

  456. come together and go,

  457. what is going on here?

  458. But maybe just a teeny little bit more

  459. about speaking in tongues.

  460. If you want to find out more about speaking in tongues,

  461. read the Bible.

  462. Read the Bible first,

  463. and then ask people who may have experience with this.

  464. But if you're going to read the Bible,

  465. go to 1 Corinthians 12 to 14.

  466. 1 Corinthians 12 to 14 will tell you a lot

  467. about the spiritual gifts.

  468. Paul is talking to the church in Corinth

  469. about spiritual gifts.

  470. And one thing I want you to know

  471. about the gift of tongues

  472. is that it is a spiritual gift,

  473. but it's also pretty much,

  474. in every list that you can see in the Bible,

  475. it's always at the bottom.

  476. It's always towards the end.

  477. Where somehow in the church,

  478. what we've done is we've lifted it up to the top.

  479. Anyone who,

  480. there are some churches who say,

  481. hey, well,

  482. if you believe in Jesus,

  483. you should start speaking in tongues straight away.

  484. And we may be,

  485. we're guilty of overemphasizing

  486. on what this actually is.

  487. But you see,

  488. when Paul talks about it,

  489. it's always at the bottom of the list.

  490. But it's the one that is actually,

  491. that you can take home,

  492. it's for personal edification.

  493. 1 Corinthians 14 is where it talks about this.

  494. So if you're confused,

  495. don't be worried.

  496. Because this is a topic that is hard.

  497. But go to scripture.

  498. Go to scripture.

  499. And actually you'll see,

  500. how Paul talks about it in 1 Corinthians 14

  501. makes a ton of sense.

  502. And it is orderly.

  503. And it actually isn't filled with chaos and confusion.

  504. And so you see here,

  505. it's for personal edification,

  506. is what he's saying in 1 Corinthians 14.

  507. It's the one that I've had described to me,

  508. is the spiritual gift of tongues

  509. is the one that you can take home.

  510. It's the one that you can use yourself

  511. between you and God.

  512. But there are times where in a worship service,

  513. in a corporate gathering,

  514. someone will speak in tongues,

  515. in a language that they may not understand themselves.

  516. But the point there is that someone else in the room

  517. will be able to understand.

  518. Because when there is a gift of speaking in tongues,

  519. there is also the gift of interpretation.

  520. And so 1 Corinthians 12 talks about that.

  521. It's actually,

  522. and this has happened before,

  523. and I've been in gatherings,

  524. this has happened before,

  525. where someone stands up to speak

  526. in a language that they don't understand,

  527. but someone else in the room

  528. is able to interpret it.

  529. What's the purpose of that?

  530. I'll tell you what it is not.

  531. It's not for those two people,

  532. the one who's speaking

  533. and the one who's interpreting,

  534. to show off and say,

  535. look what we can do.

  536. We just made up a secret language

  537. in real time

  538. and none of you know what it's about.

  539. That is not what it's about.

  540. Go back to scripture again.

  541. 1 Corinthians 14,

  542. Paul says,

  543. all these gifts,

  544. what are they for?

  545. To build up the church.

  546. Strive to excel in building up the church,

  547. edifying the church.

  548. It's all about the common good

  549. is what 1 Corinthians 12 talks about.

  550. That's what the spiritual gifts are for

  551. and that's what even the tongues are for.

  552. And you see,

  553. this is exactly the way

  554. he wants to start off with a bang

  555. and it goes from here.

  556. So what happens?

  557. That group of 120,

  558. they receive this gift

  559. and then they spill out into the streets

  560. because they don't know what's happening.

  561. They're just speaking

  562. in this other language

  563. that they don't understand.

  564. And so what happens is verse 5,

  565. now they were dwelling in Jerusalem,

  566. Jews,

  567. devout men from every nation

  568. under earth,

  569. heaven.

  570. And at this sound,

  571. the multitude came together

  572. and they were bewildered

  573. because each one was hearing them speak

  574. in his own language.

  575. Just imagine the scene there.

  576. How shocking it would be

  577. for people to see

  578. what was happening.

  579. These Galileans

  580. who were known to be

  581. of people of just one dialect,

  582. of working class people,

  583. not educated,

  584. not sophisticated,

  585. but spilling onto the street

  586. and speaking to you

  587. in your language.

  588. I'm trying to find

  589. a modern day equivalent

  590. for this.

  591. But those who are

  592. the Chinese diaspora

  593. who maybe grew up

  594. in a different part

  595. of the world,

  596. maybe Cuban,

  597. when he goes to visit France,

  598. of course,

  599. it's different

  600. because Cuban actually

  601. speaks French,

  602. but imagine Cuban

  603. goes to France

  604. and there's a French person there

  605. who recognizes him

  606. and speaks to him

  607. in Chinese,

  608. in Cantonese.

  609. That's the effect

  610. that it would be,

  611. what is going on here?

  612. Because ironically,

  613. Cuban's French

  614. is probably better

  615. than his Cantonese.

  616. But you see the point.

  617. Or you see

  618. a German person

  619. coming to Hong Kong

  620. and visits

  621. some Chopin

  622. and then sees

  623. an uncle on the stall

  624. speak to him

  625. in German.

  626. It would have been

  627. mind-boggling.

  628. That's why the words

  629. here described

  630. would be bewildered.

  631. Amazed.

  632. Astonished.

  633. Something was happening

  634. here that no one

  635. had ever seen before.

  636. And actually,

  637. they asked that question.

  638. They were like,

  639. what is going on?

  640. Are these not all

  641. Galileans?

  642. Commentators think

  643. that actually,

  644. as these people

  645. were speaking

  646. in these foreign languages,

  647. they probably still

  648. had a Galilean twang.

  649. Which shows actually

  650. that actually

  651. when God uses people,

  652. he uses even

  653. the imperfections.

  654. It doesn't come out

  655. as this perfect dialect.

  656. It wasn't the Queen's English

  657. that came out.

  658. It was the Brummie accent

  659. that came out

  660. as well as the gospel.

  661. So God uses people

  662. to speak through.

  663. And so they're like,

  664. what is going on?

  665. These Galileans,

  666. these working class people.

  667. And now each of us

  668. are hearing

  669. our own language.

  670. What does this tell me?

  671. If I just take a step back

  672. and go,

  673. why did Luke introduce

  674. the church like this?

  675. I think he's saying,

  676. well,

  677. the church is for every culture.

  678. The church is for every culture,

  679. for every type of person,

  680. for every tribe and tongue.

  681. You see later

  682. in Revelation 7

  683. that there is a great multitude.

  684. Every tribe and tongue

  685. will be worshipping God.

  686. The gospel is not just

  687. for one group of people.

  688. From the beginning,

  689. day zero of the church,

  690. it was about unity

  691. and not division.

  692. And yet we just have to

  693. take a pause now

  694. and just look at our church now

  695. and go,

  696. whew,

  697. that's how the church started.

  698. That was the first mission trip

  699. to show the world

  700. that it was for every language,

  701. for every culture.

  702. And yet now here,

  703. Christianity in this day and age

  704. can often be used as a weapon

  705. for racism,

  706. for politics,

  707. and you're like,

  708. wow,

  709. how far have we fallen?

  710. Well,

  711. there's another group

  712. who maybe associate Christianity

  713. with it's a,

  714. it's a,

  715. it's a Western religion.

  716. It's a white work,

  717. white middle class religion.

  718. Imagine Peter

  719. showing up at one of these churches

  720. going,

  721. whoa,

  722. whoa,

  723. it is not

  724. a Western middle class religion

  725. because I am not

  726. Western or middle class.

  727. don't we need to hear this

  728. as a church

  729. that the gospel

  730. is for every culture?

  731. You go onto the news now

  732. and Juju and I,

  733. we just,

  734. we're on BBC News

  735. just a,

  736. just a,

  737. an hour ago.

  738. You just see all these names

  739. pop up.

  740. You see India

  741. and Pakistan.

  742. You see Russia

  743. and Ukraine.

  744. You see the US

  745. and China.

  746. And you see how the church

  747. not only doesn't rise above

  748. those discussions,

  749. but it gets sucked into all of them.

  750. And yet Luke seems to go out

  751. of his way here

  752. and lists people from Asia,

  753. people from Africa,

  754. people from Europe.

  755. And he's,

  756. this is how the church started.

  757. There's another place

  758. where you see this kind of list

  759. of different countries

  760. and cultures.

  761. Let's go back to Genesis 11,

  762. the Tower of Babel.

  763. Isn't it interesting

  764. that mankind started

  765. with one language,

  766. but because of their pride,

  767. because wanting to make

  768. a name for themselves,

  769. God has to create them

  770. and confuse them

  771. with all these other languages.

  772. And now what you see here

  773. in Pentecost

  774. is actually a reversal

  775. of that curse.

  776. So as a Jew,

  777. you would have known this.

  778. You would have known

  779. the stories of the

  780. no turning backs

  781. that I just shared with you

  782. at the beginning.

  783. And you're like,

  784. what is going on here?

  785. This is like the Tower of Babel,

  786. but in reverse.

  787. They were confused

  788. because they can understand

  789. each other,

  790. but yet here,

  791. we can understand someone

  792. who seemingly should be

  793. speaking a different language

  794. to us.

  795. One language,

  796. same words,

  797. try to build a city,

  798. make a name for themselves,

  799. focuses on their own acclaim.

  800. What was that?

  801. What was that scene

  802. in the Tower of Babel

  803. where they say,

  804. hey,

  805. I know we were told

  806. to scatter to fill the earth

  807. with God's glory,

  808. but let's stay

  809. and build this tower

  810. and make a name for ourselves

  811. and maybe the top of the tower

  812. will reach heaven.

  813. You know what that is?

  814. That's climbing to the top

  815. of the tower

  816. and giving God

  817. the middle finger

  818. and saying,

  819. God,

  820. we don't need you.

  821. That's what they were

  822. trying to do.

  823. And yet,

  824. God in his mercy says,

  825. look,

  826. I won't let you do that

  827. because I'd already promised

  828. Noah that there won't be

  829. a flood.

  830. So my best thing now

  831. is to disperse you.

  832. If your tendency

  833. is to stay,

  834. to make a name

  835. for yourselves,

  836. then I will give you

  837. many languages

  838. so you have to move.

  839. Growing up in England

  840. as an ethnic minority,

  841. I understand what that means.

  842. Joe and I,

  843. we went to a school

  844. where we were

  845. the only two Chinese kids

  846. for primary school.

  847. Secondary school,

  848. there were one or two

  849. other Chinese kids

  850. and I knew every time

  851. you walk in the corridor,

  852. you see the other

  853. Chinese kid,

  854. you're like,

  855. it's okay,

  856. are you safe?

  857. Yeah,

  858. yeah,

  859. I'm safe.

  860. Safe,

  861. safe,

  862. safe,

  863. safe.

  864. Why do we have

  865. Chinese churches

  866. in the UK?

  867. Because the British churches

  868. don't give good food.

  869. So we have to

  870. have communities

  871. where we have food.

  872. I joke,

  873. but it's also very true.

  874. You see,

  875. just ethnic minorities

  876. overseas

  877. are just trying to gather.

  878. Why?

  879. Just because

  880. there's safety in numbers.

  881. But the idol

  882. there is that

  883. you end up

  884. just looking in

  885. on yourself.

  886. And this is exactly

  887. what was happening

  888. with the Jews,

  889. with the Israelites.

  890. Just before Jesus

  891. flew off,

  892. what was the question

  893. asked to him?

  894. What did they ask him

  895. just before he ascended?

  896. They're like,

  897. well,

  898. Jesus,

  899. you came,

  900. you did all this stuff,

  901. you died

  902. and then you rose again.

  903. When are you going

  904. to restore Israel?

  905. Well,

  906. they say,

  907. when are you going

  908. to help us?

  909. When are you going

  910. to help us

  911. with our agenda?

  912. Peter,

  913. we've suffered

  914. too long.

  915. Our people

  916. have suffered

  917. too long.

  918. We need to show

  919. everyone that we

  920. are the best nation.

  921. And Jesus says,

  922. no,

  923. that's not what

  924. this is about.

  925. And in Pentecost,

  926. he shows us again.

  927. So,

  928. it is a reversal

  929. of the curse

  930. of Babylon.

  931. Augustine says this,

  932. that actually,

  933. what happened

  934. at the Tower of Babel

  935. is basically

  936. earthly pride,

  937. pursuing earthly pride.

  938. But what you see here

  939. at Pentecost

  940. is a group of people

  941. united

  942. by the grace

  943. of Christ

  944. for heavenly devotion.

  945. for a city

  946. that isn't of their own,

  947. but a city

  948. that is of God.

  949. That,

  950. I think,

  951. is beautiful.

  952. So,

  953. I think a Jew

  954. at that time

  955. would have appreciated that.

  956. I've got a final point here

  957. because I want to really

  958. throw this ball

  959. back onto you guys.

  960. Something else

  961. that I really

  962. picked up on this.

  963. And suddenly

  964. there came from heaven

  965. a sound like

  966. a rushing wind

  967. and divided tongues

  968. as of fire.

  969. I think Luke

  970. is interesting here

  971. where he actually

  972. uses the description

  973. of fire

  974. to describe

  975. what was happening here.

  976. The Israelites,

  977. the Jews,

  978. would have known this

  979. because what's fire

  980. always associated

  981. with for them?

  982. God.

  983. The burning bush

  984. is God

  985. showing up

  986. in fire.

  987. Exodus 20,

  988. when he descends

  989. on Mount Sinai,

  990. there's smoke.

  991. Why?

  992. Because God is fire.

  993. When they're wandering

  994. in the desert,

  995. in the wilderness,

  996. they see a pillar

  997. of fire

  998. following after them.

  999. And what do they do?

  1000. They say,

  1001. hey, Moses,

  1002. we see it.

  1003. That guy is powerful

  1004. and we're scared.

  1005. Can you go

  1006. meet him instead?

1007. So they send Moses up

  1008. because they're like,

  1009. we don't want anything

  1010. to do that.

  1011. Why?

  1012. Because they were

  1013. terrified of this fire.

  1014. Elijah,

  1015. in 1 Kings 18 and 19,

  1016. when he battles

  1017. the prophets of Baal,

  1018. what does he do?

  1019. Sends down fire.

  1020. Leviticus 10,

  1021. actually,

  1022. because of the issue

  1023. of the golden calf,

  1024. Aaron's sons,

  1025. they actually

  1026. have to be punished.

1027. So how do they die?

  1028. Die?

  1029. Fire.

  1030. Fire has always

  1031. been associated

  1032. with God

  1033. for the Jews.

  1034. So Luke here says,

  1035. hey,

  1036. something came

  1037. from heaven

  1038. as of fire.

1039. But I just want you

  1040. to have a little

  1041. thought exercise here.

  1042. Imagine Moses

  1043. at Pentecost.

1044. Just for a second there.

  1045. Moses,

1046. who was the only one

  1047. who could see God.

  1048. Actually,

  1049. Moses himself

  1050. in Exodus 33 to 34

  1051. said,

  1052. God,

  1053. show me your glory.

  1054. That's the song

  1055. that we sang, right?

  1056. God,

  1057. show us your glory.

1058. And what does God say?

  1059. God says,

  1060. you actually can't see

  1061. my full glory.

  1062. Why?

1063. Because if you saw it,

  1064. you would die.

  1065. But I hear you,

  1066. Moses.

  1067. I know you want

  1068. to have a connection

  1069. with me.

  1070. I do too.

  1071. That's why we're here.

  1072. So this is what

  1073. we're going to do.

  1074. You're going to hide

1075. in this little club here.

1076. I'm going to walk by.

1077. And as I walk by,

  1078. I'm going to cover

1079. your eyes with my hand.

1080. And then as I pass by,

  1081. you'll see my back.

  1082. And that's all

1083. you'll be able to see.

  1084. Moses spent his life

1085. just trying to see God.

  1086. And of course,

  1087. mediating on behalf

  1088. of the people.

  1089. Imagine if he was

  1090. at Pentecost.

  1091. He'd be like,

  1092. guys,

  1093. do you know

  1094. what just happened

  1095. with you?

  1096. Do you know

  1097. how terrifying

  1098. it was for me

1099. to go up to the mountain

  1100. alone

  1101. and to see

  1102. the fire of God

  1103. alone?

  1104. Did you know

  1105. I came back

  1106. from my trip

  1107. to see God

  1108. and I was glowing

  1109. for a while.

  1110. No one could even

  1111. look at me.

1112. I had to cover my face

  1113. because I'd spent

  1114. that time with God.

  1115. Do you realize

  1116. what is happening?

  1117. Do you realize

  1118. that when I was

  1119. walking in the wilderness,

  1120. there was a pillar

  1121. of fire

1122. that I had to follow?

  1123. And now,

  1124. that fire

  1125. that I saw Aaron's

  1126. sons be killed

  1127. by

  1128. is living inside you.

  1129. I think he would

  1130. have gone nuts.

  1131. He'd be like,

  1132. this is something

  1133. that I dreamt of.

  1134. I could only dream

  1135. of seeing it.

  1136. You guys

  1137. now have him

  1138. living inside you.

1139. I was the only one

  1140. who could go

  1141. to that mountain.

  1142. But now,

  1143. the mountain

  1144. has come down

  1145. to you

  1146. and each one

  1147. of you

  1148. is filled

  1149. with that fire.

1150. I was the only one

  1151. that saw

  1152. the burning bush.

  1153. But now,

  1154. each of you

  1155. sat here

  1156. are,

  1157. in essence,

  1158. burning bushes.

  1159. Why?

  1160. Because the Holy Spirit,

  1161. the fire of God

  1162. is living inside you.

  1163. Forget Pentecost.

  1164. Imagine if Moses

  1165. showed up here.

  1166. People who

  1167. say we believe

  1168. in Jesus,

  1169. who have received

  1170. the Holy Spirit,

  1171. declared him as Lord,

  1172. live with the fire

  1173. inside us.

  1174. My fear is

  1175. that he'd be

  1176. heartbroken.

  1177. He'd be devastated.

  1178. You guys have

  1179. no idea

  1180. what you have

  1181. inside you.

  1182. I tried to catch

  1183. a glimpse of it

  1184. and he said

  1185. I couldn't

  1186. because I'd die.

  1187. And now,

  1188. you have it

  1189. living inside you

1190. and all you can do

  1191. is just sit

  1192. and enjoy

  1193. your comfy chair.

1194. I was the only one

  1195. who could see God

1196. and now all of you

  1197. have God

  1198. living inside you.

1199. I went up to the

1200. mount to get the law

  1201. but now the Spirit

  1202. has come down

  1203. at Pentecost

  1204. on all of you.

  1205. He would have been

  1206. mind blown.

  1207. I don't think

  1208. we truly grasp

  1209. what happened

  1210. at Pentecost.

  1211. That from that moment

  1212. the church was born

  1213. because each believer

  1214. was filled

1215. filled with the Holy Spirit

  1216. filled with a fire

  1217. inside them.

  1218. I'll tell you something

  1219. about fire and wind.

  1220. If you're stood

1221. next to fire and wind

  1222. it changes you.

  1223. You have no choice.

1224. It forces you to move.

  1225. Wind,

1226. it forces you to move.

  1227. Why do we close

  1228. everything down

  1229. in Typhoon 8?

  1230. Because it's

  1231. dangerous.

  1232. Just look at the

  1233. wildfires in the US

  1234. and you see

  1235. the effects

  1236. of fire and wind.

1237. and yet here we are

  1238. as recipients

  1239. of the Holy Spirit

  1240. as of fire

  1241. as like wind

  1242. and yet we sit.

  1243. We have the fullness

1244. of God living inside us

  1245. and yet we look

  1246. nothing like Jesus.

  1247. I think for Moses

1248. it would have been shocking.

  1249. It's interesting.

  1250. Just to quickly

1251. pop back to Exodus 34.

  1252. So Moses says

1253. I want to see you.

  1254. God says

  1255. you can't see me

  1256. you'll die

  1257. but hey

1258. this is what we'll do.

  1259. And finally

  1260. he walks by

  1261. he sees his back

  1262. and then God

  1263. actually introduces himself.

  1264. If there's one part

  1265. of the Bible

1266. that tells us about God

  1267. is when he chooses

  1268. to describe himself

1269. and what he says here

  1270. Exodus 34

  1271. The Lord

  1272. a God

  1273. merciful and gracious

  1274. slow to anger

  1275. abounding in steadfast love

  1276. and faithfulness

  1277. keeping steadfast love

  1278. for thousands

  1279. forgiving iniquity

  1280. and transgression

  1281. and sin.

  1282. It's like

  1283. Moses

  1284. you and your people

1285. have got me all wrong

1286. I am filled with grace

  1287. and mercy

  1288. I am abounding

  1289. in steadfast love

  1290. I forgive

  1291. but just in case

  1292. you think

  1293. that I'm soft

  1294. that I'm here

1295. just to let things slide

  1296. he finishes

  1297. with saying this

  1298. forgiving iniquity

  1299. and transgression

  1300. and sin

  1301. but who will

  1302. by no means

  1303. clear the guilty.

  1304. So Moses

  1305. would have come down

  1306. from the mountain

  1307. and go

  1308. guys

  1309. guys

  1310. this fire

  1311. this terrifying fire

  1312. that you see

  1313. he is gracious

  1314. and he is compassionate

  1315. he is abounding

  1316. in steadfast love

1317. he is slow to anger

  1318. he will forgive you

  1319. he will forgive us

  1320. but it doesn't mean

  1321. he clears the guilty

1322. he would have come down

  1323. a little bit perplexed

1324. I wonder how that works

  1325. I wonder how God

  1326. can be both

  1327. just

  1328. and loving

  1329. at the same time

  1330. you see Moses

  1331. hadn't seen the future

  1332. Moses was up there

  1333. on the mountain

  1334. by himself

  1335. but soon

  1336. many years later

  1337. he'd be stood

  1338. on the mountain

  1339. again

  1340. with someone

  1341. who embodied

  1342. that grace

  1343. and that truth

  1344. that God was

  1345. talking to him

  1346. about here

  1347. John 1

  1348. says this

  1349. the word became flesh

  1350. filled with grace

  1351. and truth

  1352. Romans 8

  1353. says

1354. what God could not do

  1355. in the law

  1356. because it was weakened

  1357. by the flesh

  1358. now is fulfilled

  1359. by Jesus

  1360. right here

  1361. the one who is

  1362. gracious

  1363. and true

  1364. and just

1365. and he would have been like

  1366. guys

  1367. you saw him

  1368. you have his spirit

  1369. living inside you

  1370. why aren't you

  1371. moving

  1372. this is a moment

  1373. where you should not

  1374. be turning back

  1375. this is a moment

  1376. that should have changed

  1377. your life forever

1378. and yet you're sat here

  1379. still the same

  1380. as you were

  1381. five years ago

1382. it would not have made sense

  1383. to Moses

1384. why does it make sense

  1385. for us

  1386. he would have said

1387. do you know what happened

1388. after the golden calf incident

  1389. 3,000 people died

  1390. 3,000 people died

  1391. because they chose

  1392. to worship a calf

  1393. and now at Pentecost

  1394. what happens

  1395. if you go into

  1396. Acts chapter 2 later

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  1397. what happens

  1398. when they're filled

  1399. with the Holy Spirit

  1400. Peter preaches the sermon

1401. people are cut to the heart

  1402. and how many people

  1403. are saved

  1404. 3,000

  1405. God is reversing

  1406. the curse

1407. of the Tower of Babel

  1408. God is reversing

  1409. the sins

  1410. of mankind

  1411. Moses would have been

  1412. completely astonished

  1413. back then

  1414. they were terrified

  1415. of the fire

1416. but now we are empowered

  1417. by that same fire

  1418. can you see

  1419. the parallels

  1420. can you see

  1421. the significance

  1422. of Pentecost

  1423. well if you can

  1424. see the significance

  1425. can this be

  1426. a moment

  1427. where you do not

  1428. turn back

  1429. where you now

  1430. truly understand

  1431. what it means

1432. to have the Holy Spirit

  1433. like wind

  1434. like fire

  1435. living inside you

  1436. you cannot

  1437. just gather

  1438. brothers and sisters

  1439. now we have

  1440. more comfy chairs

  1441. you cannot

  1442. just gather

  1443. just as the day

  1444. of Pentecost

  1445. can we wait

  1446. for him

  1447. just as the day

  1448. of Pentecost

  1449. can we be filled

  1450. with the spirit

  1451. and then cannot

  1452. help but to

  1453. spill out

  1454. into the streets

  1455. and to show people

  1456. what we have

  1457. now just

  1458. beware here

  1459. when you're filled

  1460. with the spirit

  1461. and he lets you

  1462. do things

  1463. that are incredible

  1464. that causes people

  1465. to be astonished

  1466. and amazed

  1467. and perplexed

  1468. don't make the same

  1469. mistake as those

1470. in the Tower of Babel

  1471. where they say

  1472. let's make a name

  1473. for ourselves

  1474. when these people

1475. are filled with the spirit

  1476. and they go out

  1477. and they speak

  1478. all kinds of languages

  1479. the ones that they

1480. have no idea of knowing

  1481. I mean I'm trying

  1482. so hard to learn

  1483. Mandarin

1484. and it is so hard

  1485. I mean I can ask

  1486. questions but I have

  1487. no idea what they're

  1488. saying when they

  1489. answer me

1490. and then Joe and I

  1491. have the same

  1492. people pleasing issue

1493. we go and we go

  1494. to Shenzhen

  1495. and we ask

1496. and then they'll be like

  1497. and then Alex

  1498. and Christina

  1499. will laugh

  1500. and just go

  1501. do you know

  1502. what you just

  1503. said yes to

  1504. like no idea

  1505. but they weren't

  1506. amazed that they

  1507. could speak a new

  1508. language

  1509. what were they

  1510. shouting about

  1511. Acts chapter 2

    Acts 2:12

  1512. verse 12

  1513. and all were amazed

  1514. and perplexed

  1515. actually sorry

  1516. verse 11

  1517. we hear them

  1518. telling in our

  1519. own tongues

  1520. the mighty

  1521. works

  1522. of God

  1523. whereas in the

  1524. Tower of Babel

  1525. they were talking

  1526. about finding a name

  1527. making a name

  1528. for themselves

  1529. the reversal is

  1530. complete because

  1531. they are not

  1532. making a name

  1533. for themselves

  1534. they're not

  1535. coming hey

  1536. look what we

  1537. can do

  1538. look what party

  1539. tricks we can

  1540. do

  1541. they're saying

  1542. have you heard

  1543. about the amazing

  1544. works of God

  1545. the fire that

  1546. Moses saw

  1547. on Mount Sinai

  1548. has now

  1549. descended

  1550. full of grace

  1551. and truth

  1552. we have seen

  1553. his face

  1554. Jesus

  1555. Jesus

  1556. who died

  1557. for our sins

  1558. but rose again

  1559. and will come

  1560. back again

  1561. that would have

  1562. been the message

  1563. coming out of

  1564. their mouths

  1565. can we be

  1566. people who

  1567. are similar

  1568. my prayer is

  1569. that

  1570. as we have

  1571. different turning

  1572. points in our

  1573. lives

  1574. different things

  1575. that happen to

  1576. us

  1577. I pray that

  1578. this will be

  1579. one of those

  1580. moments

  1581. maybe not

  1582. exactly today

  1583. but maybe

  1584. is today

  1585. as well

  1586. maybe you've

  1587. been sat

  1588. there too

  1589. long

  1590. holding the

  1591. fullness of

  1592. God inside

  1593. you

  1594. and not

  1595. unleashing it

  1596. to the world

  1597. and I pray

  1598. that today

  1599. you'll decide

  1600. I cannot

  1601. turn back

  1602. this changes

  1603. everything

  1604. this forces

  1605. me to

  1606. not just

  1607. gather

  1608. but to

  1609. scatter

  1610. imagine

  1611. look around

  1612. now

  1613. this room

  1614. is filled

  1615. with people

  1616. who are

  1617. basically

  1618. burning

  1619. bushes

  1620. that's

  1621. what we

  1622. see here

  1623. in scripture

  1624. that's

  1625. what we

  1626. are

  1627. we can't

  1628. help but

  1629. go out

  1630. and spread

  1631. this

  1632. see the

  1633. parallels

  1634. in Mount

  1635. Sinai

  1636. and Pentecost

  1637. see the

  1638. parallels

  1639. of the

  1640. Tower of

  1641. Babel

  1642. and Pentecost

  1643. but most of

  1644. all see

  1645. the God

  1646. who has

  1647. been working

  1648. from the

  1649. beginning

  1650. to the

  1651. end

  1652. the one

  1653. who lives

  1654. inside you

  1655. right now

  1656. and go

  1657. would you

  1658. tell of his

  1659. mighty works

  1660. we're going

  1661. to finish

  1662. with communion

  1663. and this

  1664. is a time

  1665. for all

  1666. of us

  1667. just to

  1668. sit

  1669. just to

  1670. evaluate

  1671. well

  1672. how much

  1673. of a

  1674. burning

  1675. bush

  1676. have I

  1677. been

  1678. maybe

  1679. some of

  1680. you

  1681. like

  1682. look

  1683. I've

  1684. been

  1685. trying

  1686. trying

  1687. to get

  1688. this

  1689. fire

  1690. started

  1691. but it's

  1692. not

  1693. working

  1694. well

  1695. I'll

  1696. tell

  1697. you

  1698. this

  1699. I'll

  1700. encourage

  1701. you

  1702. here

  1703. you're

  1704. in

  1705. the

  1706. right

  1707. place

  1708. as I

  1709. look

  1710. around

  1711. I can

  1712. see

  1713. people

  1714. that are

  1715. on

  1716. fire

  1717. tell

  1718. you

  1719. what

  1720. I

  1721. would

  1722. do

  1723. if

  1724. I

  1725. was

  1726. you

  1727. and I

  1728. have

  1729. no

  1730. fire

  1731. and they

  1732. have

  1733. fire

  1734. what's

  1735. the

  1736. best

  1737. thing

  1738. about

  1739. fire

  1740. it

  1741. just

  1742. spreads

  1743. go sit

  1744. next to

  1745. them

  1746. go hang

  1747. out

  1748. with

  1749. them

  1750. go have

  1751. lunch

  1752. with

  1753. them

  1754. go

  1755. hey

  1756. tell

  1757. me

  1758. how

  1759. you

  1760. are

  1761. so

  1762. on

  1763. fire

  1764. that's

  1765. what

  1766. I

  1767. would

  1768. do

  1769. and hope

  1770. to catch

  1771. that

  1772. fire

  1773. next

  1774. but if

  1775. there's

  1776. something

  1777. inside

  1778. us

  1779. that

  1780. have

  1781. completely

  1782. stopped

  1783. that

  1784. then this

  1785. is now

  1786. the perfect

  1787. time for

  1788. us to

  1789. take this

  1790. to God

  1791. and go

  1792. God

  1793. I'm so

  1794. sorry

  1795. I didn't

  1796. realize

  1797. what was

  1798. inside

  1799. me

  1800. I didn't

  1801. realize

  1802. what I

  1803. was denying

  1804. the power

  1805. of

  1806. show me

  1807. how

  1808. show

  1809. me

  1810. how

  1811. Jesus

  1812. you are

  1813. enough

  1814. you are

  1815. the subject

  1816. of all

  1817. of our

  1818. devotion

  1819. we know

  1820. the Holy

  1821. Spirit

  1822. came to

  1823. point people

  1824. to point

  1825. us to

  1826. you

  1827. to tell

  1828. of the

  1829. mighty

  1830. works

  1831. of God

  1832. and so

  1833. we decide

  1834. today

  1835. we pray

  1836. that today

  1837. would be a

  1838. turning point

  1839. where we

  1840. do not

  1841. turn back

  1842. where we

  1843. decide to

  1844. follow you

  1845. wherever you

  1846. may lead

  1847. as of

  1848. Noah

  1849. as of

  1850. Abraham

  1851. as of

  1852. Isaac

  1853. as of

  1854. Jacob

  1855. as of

  1856. Moses

  1857. Jesus

  1858. we follow

  1859. you

  1860. the great

  1861. high priest

  1862. we know

  1863. that through

  1864. what you

  1865. did on

  1866. the cross

  1867. through your

  1868. spirit

  1869. we all

  1870. have access

  1871. to the

  1872. father

  1873. now

  1874. not just

  1875. Moses

  1876. and you

  1877. you

  1878. Lord

  1879. have

  1880. broken

  1881. down

  1882. the

  1883. dividing

  1884. wall

  1885. of

  1886. hostility

  1887. between

  1888. nations

  1889. between

  1890. friends

  1891. within

  1892. families

  1893. you come

  1894. and you

  1895. preach

  1896. peace

  1897. and so

  1898. we follow

  1899. you

  1900. Jesus

  1901. everything

  1902. we need

  1903. is in

  1904. you

  1905. so would

  1906. you give

  1907. us the

  1908. opportunities

  1909. this week

  1910. to be

  1911. that burning

  1912. bush

  1913. would you

  1914. send people

  1915. to us

  1916. that you

  1917. are desiring

  1918. to meet

  1919. and just

  1920. as Moses

  1921. was poor

  1922. with his

  1923. words

  1924. we come

  1925. with our

  1926. flawed

  1927. apologetics

  1928. we come

  1929. without lofty

  1930. speech or

  1931. wisdom

  1932. but we

  1933. take comfort

  1934. in the fact

  1935. that the

  1936. power of

  1937. the cross

  1938. is enough

  1939. Lord would

  1940. you use

  1941. us

  1942. would we

  1943. be your

  1944. chosen

  1945. instruments

  1946. would you

  1947. burn

  1948. inside us

  1949. just as

  1950. on the

  1951. day of

  1952. Pentecost

  1953. Holy

  1954. Spirit

  1955. would you

  1956. continue

  1957. to lead

  1958. us

  1959. through

  1960. the

  1961. night

  1962. would you

  1963. continue

  1964. to refine

  1965. us to be

  1966. more like

  1967. you

  1968. would you

  1969. complete

  1970. what you

  1971. already

  1972. started

  1973. would you

  1974. allow us

  1975. empower us

  1976. to be a

  1977. part of

  1978. it

  1979. thank you

  1980. Holy Spirit

  1981. we know

  1982. that we

  1983. tread on

  1984. holy ground

  1985. because you

  1986. are here

  1987. thank you

  1988. Lord

  1989. thank you

  1990. for being

  1991. with us

  1992. as we

  1993. gather

  1994. would you

  1995. continue

  1996. as we

  1997. scatter

  1998. in your

  1999. name we

  2000. pray

  2001. amen
