  1. Turn to 2 Kings chapter 6.

    2 Kings 6 chapter mention

  2. While you're turning there, I guess I've got a couple questions.

  3. !

  4. I've had that happen.

  5. And so if you've had that experience, then you might have a little in common with the man

  6. that we're going to talk about tonight.

  7. Go ahead and stand, if you will, with me.

  8. We'll start reading chapter 6.

  9. We'll read the first seven verses.

  10. It says,

  11. And he answered,

  12. And one said,

  13. And he answered,

  14. So he went with them, and when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.

  15. But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water, and he cried and said,

  16. Alas, master, for it was borrowed.

  17. And the man of God said,

  18. Where fell it?

  19. And he showed him the place, and he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither, and the iron did swim.

  20. Therefore said he,

  21. Take it up to thee.

  22. And he put out his hand and took it.

  23. Let's pray.

  24. Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for everyone that's here tonight, Lord.

  25. I just ask that you would bless them for their faithfulness.

  26. Lord, I just ask that you would work in our hearts.

  27. Just let us glean what you have for us tonight.

  28. Lord, I just ask that you would let me speak forth your truths found in Scripture.

  29. I just thank you, and I love you.

  30. In Jesus' name, amen.

  31. You can go ahead and be seated.

  32. So with this being more of a Bible study tonight, that's kind of something I was doing.

  33. And the Lord kind of had me going all sorts of different ways with this, and I think we finally got it settled tonight.

  34. I was doing some studying, and the sons of the prophets, these were usually, these were kind of what I would consider for us to get an idea of would be like Bible college students.

  35. These were young men who were devoted to learning Elijah and Elisha, and they wanted to be prophets, and they were kind of disciples, if you will.

  36. And so being that I had gone to Bible college, I felt a little more kinship to this individual.

  37. And the first thing I saw here was in verses 1 and 2, and I see the mission.

  38. And we start off this chapter with a really good problem, growing pains.

  39. They come to Elisha, and they're like, hey, you know, you could say our dorm, it's filling up.

  40. We're cramped.

  41. We need to expand.

  42. And we know here at Plains about building projects, and there's always excitement.

  43. You can hear the buzz, you know.

  44. People are excited.

  45. They're envisioning what could be.

  46. There's also, with that excitement, a lot of times there's an expectation, right, that the project is just going to go flawlessly.

  47. And, of course, you plan for things to happen.

  48. You know, you want efficiency.

  49. And the men, they got it all figured out.

  50. They go to Elisha.

  51. You know, Proverbs 29, 18 tells us where there is no vision, the people perish.

  52. And they had a vision, you know.

  53. I've been in a guy's dorm, and I remember we had 11 guys in that area, but we only had four showers.

  54. So it was constantly a challenge.

  55. Someone would leave their stuff in there, and you'd be like, hey, don't leave that stuff in here.

  56. You know, and there was always sorts of button heads going on.

  57. We only had one washer and dryer, so it was a fight to figure all that out.

  58. So I can just imagine these guys are excited.

  59. We need a place to build a new area.

  60. And no doubt that these guys, they had divine guidance, wise counsel, clear direction.

  61. We see here that they understood that it was going to take personal sacrifice.

  62. There in verse 2, it says, every man a beam.

  63. Everybody was going to grab those lumber after they'd cut them down and work.

  64. It was a project that they were all on board with.

  65. And they kind of understood what was going on.

  66. I can kind of imagine them even singing, you know, we'll work till Jesus comes.

  67. They're full of excitement.

  68. Things are happening.

  69. And Christ tells us in John chapter 9, verse 4, that we only have a limited time of work.

    John 9:4

  70. The Bible says that soon it'll be dark and there will be no time to work.

  71. Paul writes to Galatians in chapter 6, verse 9,

  72. And let us not be weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.

  73. We know that there is work to do, and we've got to stay busy.

  74. I think one of the phrases that came to my mind, and especially since I couldn't say it any better,

  75. but the English cricketeer who turned missionary, C.T. Studd, he famously said,

  76. One life will soon be passed, only what's done for Christ will last.

  77. And these guys, what they were doing is building that place.

  78. They wanted to learn, and everything, you know, this is good.

  79. These first two verses, everything's kind of going the way that they want it.

  80. In verses 3 and 4, I have the master.

  81. We see that these workers were wise because they wanted their master to go with them.

  82. They say in verse number 3, they say,

  83. Any work independent from our master is a waste.

  84. And beside that, Elisha would be somebody that you would want to be going with you.

  85. In just 2 Kings, okay, we're in chapter 6.

  86. In just 2 Kings up to this point, Elisha had already performed 11 miracles.

  87. In 2 Kings 2, verse 14, he had parted the Jordan.

    2 Kings 2:14

  88. Chapter 2, verses 18 through 22, there was some poisonous water that he purified.

  89. I kind of like this one personally, chapter 2, verse 23 and 24.

  90. There were some youth mocking him because he was bald.

  91. So some she-bears came up and got him, and I was like, hey, amen.

  92. God doesn't cover his best furniture, by the way.

  93. 2 Kings 3, verse 16 through 25, he was able to dig ditches for water for Israel,

    2 Kings 3:16–25

  94. and they had victory over the Moabites.

  95. Chapter 4, verses 1 through 7, he provided the widow with oil.

  96. You know, they all ran and got the empty dishes and kept filling it up.

  97. Chapter 4, verse 18 through 37, he raised the dead son of the Shunammite woman.

  98. Verses 38 through 40 of chapter 4, he healed the poisonous pottage.

  99. Again, I can kind of feel that was another time he had the sons of the prophets,

  100. and they went out and they were putting a stew together,

  101. and someone had said that he grabbed some stuff.

  102. He didn't know what it was.

  103. They tossed it in, and people were getting sick.

  104. And so he healed that.

  105. I can, you know, you're kind of a knucklehead in Bible college.

  106. 2 Kings 4, 42 through 44, he multiplied the loaves.

  107. 2 Kings 5, we see that he healed the leper Naaman.

  108. 2 Kings 5, verses 25 through 27, he cursed Jehazi and gave him that skin disease.

    2 Kings 5:25–27

  109. So this guy has some experience, some talents behind him,

  110. and no wonder they would want him on their side.

  111. And I believe in verse 4 there, it says that, well, verse 3, he says he will go.

  112. Verse 4, it says,

  113. So he went with them, and when they, plural, I believe that's Elisha included,

  114. came to Jordan, they, plural again, cut down wood.

  115. I believe he was right there in the thick of it with their growing pains.

  116. So many times in our growing pains, God is there too with us.

  117. Sometimes when things are clicking, we may not always notice.

  118. But then that's what happens.

  119. I can tell you one time when I was working at a previous job,

  120. I was a stump grinder.

  121. I just grind out stumps, and I pretty much hated that job.

  122. But every day I would try to beat my record

  123. and try to get so many stumps done.

  124. And I was blessed one day that LES had done a line clearance,

  125. and there was 40 stumps.

  126. And I was like, oh, man, I'm going to beat everybody

  127. because no one's in the top 40 stumps.

  128. And I remember I was grinding away, grinding away,

  129. and I had a, we called it the tree trailer.

  130. It was not a dump trailer, but I had that, it had three-foot sides,

  131. and I had this thing just heaping.

  132. There was so much room I couldn't even get the stump grinder back on there.

  133. So I knew I was going to have to go back and then hand unload it with a pitchfork.

  134. That's why I did not like this part of the job.

  135. And so I drove back.

  136. It was starting to get dark.

  137. And when I came back to the site, which was kind of out in the country,

  138. I could not find the key, just this little piece of metal,

  139. to get the stump grinder going.

  140. It's dark.

  141. My back is sore.

  142. I'm hungry.

  143. I want to go home.

  144. And I can't find the key.

  145. And it just kind of ruined my attitude.

  146. I let that happen.

  147. In verse 5, this is what happens.

  148. We see the mishap.

  149. I can imagine these guys at work.

  150. You have one crew over here, and they're felling down the trees.

  151. The trees are coming down.

  152. You have another crew coming in.

  153. They're bucking it up.

  154. They're taking all the limbs and branches off.

  155. They get carried off to another crew,

  156. and they're getting the dimensions for the lumber.

  157. They're cutting it up.

  158. And you have another crew who are setting the beams and getting everything built.

  159. And I can just imagine everything's just running smoothly,

  160. and then you hear a cry.

  161. You hear this, alas, is the word that he uses.

  162. And we don't really use that word, so I had to look it up.

  163. I was like, what is this alas?

  164. And that's an expression for pain, for grief, for distress.

  165. I've made a similar sound to that before.

  166. If you've ever wrecked your knuckles when you're working,

  167. and you're, ah, you know, it's just, ah.

  168. If you've ever maybe had an accident, and you damaged something,

  169. you're like, ah, you know, you're like, I can't believe I did that.

  170. One time while I was stump grinding, we were taking down these bushes,

  171. and it was on kind of like a waterway,

  172. and there was like a six-foot drop-off where the, like a retaining wall.

  173. And I was getting, I was working,

  174. and the machine, every now and then it would kind of like do this jump,

  175. and it rolled out of my hands.

  176. And as the cutting wheel is turning, it hit that wall,

  177. and it bounced straight up.

  178. And so I'm underneath it, and I just see this machine coming at me.

  179. I roll, and it goes right off the six-foot wall.

  180. I made that same, ah!

  181. You know, it's like my boss is going to kill me.

  182. Well, this is what the problem this young man was having.

  183. He yells, alas!

  184. You know, it was borrowed.

  185. It wasn't his axe.

  186. This time, during this time in Israel,

  187. you could basically say they're kind of at like the Bronze Age.

  188. They don't have the type of equipment readily available.

  189. It's not like he could have, oh, broke the axe,

  190. I'll just drive down to Menards, get a new one.

  191. That wasn't the case.

  192. I mean, here he is, he's borrowed this,

  193. and again, if he's a Bible college student,

  194. I was living on Pop-Tarts and ramen.

  195. I had no money to borrow tools and equipment,

  196. but now you've broke it.

  197. I can imagine the pain, the grief,

  198. the distress that he's going through.

  199. I think it's interesting that Scripture doesn't allude

  200. to him being negligent.

  201. He wasn't using the equipment improperly,

  202. but sometimes things happen.

  203. It was an accident.

  204. You know, sometimes in our lives,

  205. when we have these growing pains,

  206. things happen.

  207. It's part of life.

  208. It's part of being human.

  209. You know, not only is it a part of being human,

  210. it's a part of being Christian,

  211. because you're going to get tested.

  212. And if you're a Christian who's trying to strive after God

  213. and go above and beyond,

  214. then you're asking for it.

  215. And that stuff happens.

  216. And those are the opportunities that we have for growth.

  217. And so this happens.

  218. I can understand that he's feeling distressed.

  219. And so many times I know in my life,

  220. I get that way.

  221. I get discouraged.

  222. I kind of want to have a pity party.

  223. I want to pout.

  224. I want to look at how everything is so much better

  225. for everybody else.

  226. But if you noticed in our text,

  227. he didn't do that.

  228. He says he goes to the master.

  229. So verses six and seven,

  230. we see the miracle.

  231. Our young man went to his master, Elisha,

  232. to solve the problem.

  233. And I think we need to take a lesson from that.

  234. Elisha calmly asked,

  235. where fell it?

  236. When it says that he cut down a stick in verse six,

  237. behind that word,

  238. there's a sense of crafting.

  239. It's not like he just walked over,

  240. grabbed a stick.

  241. This is my personal belief.

  242. So this,

  243. you know,

  244. this is the EDB version.

  245. But he's making a new handle for that axe

  246. because it's broke.

  247. What good is an axe head without a handle?

  248. And so there's probably some time there

  249. to craft a good axe handle.

  250. And I can just imagine,

  251. if I were in this young man's shoes,

  252. I'd be like,

  253. Elisha,

  254. please stop whittling.

  255. I borrowed this from my dad

  256. and I do not have money.

  257. I barely pay my tuition.

  258. I,

  259. come on,

  260. man,

  261. I need help.

  262. And so many times,

  263. though,

  264. we get like that with God.

  265. We don't understand

  266. why he's not working in our time.

  267. And you know,

  268. most of you know,

  269. I've had a pretty big event in my life

  270. where I didn't understand,

  271. you know,

  272. what God was doing.

  273. Basically,

  274. starting in 2019,

  275. my whole life

  276. was starting to really unravel.

  277. The church that I was served at

  278. and I was a member of for a long time,

  279. I got really hurt there.

  280. And it was really hard to see

  281. what God was doing.

  282. So I leave.

  283. I go to another church.

  284. And a couple of years later,

  285. my dad is killed.

  286. Again,

  287. I'm wondering,

  288. what are you doing,

  289. God?

  290. You know,

  291. I went to Bible college.

  292. You know,

  293. I go to church.

  294. You know,

  295. I was helping as the assistant.

  296. What is going on?

  297. And this is what this young man

  298. is feeling like.

  299. But then we see the miracle.

  300. He asked where it fell.

  301. So the young man took him to the place.

  302. He said,

  303. this is where it went.

  304. Elisha,

  305. who'd been crafting this stick,

  306. he throws it in.

  307. And we see a miracle.

  308. The iron floats.

  309. The Bible literally says it swims.

  310. This is just me again.

  311. So this is just my preference.

  312. I got to put that out there.

  313. I personally believe

  314. when he threw that stick

  315. into the water,

  316. the iron came up.

  317. I personally believe

  318. that axe became whole.

  319. You might be thinking,

  320. oh,

  321. that's a stretch.

  322. Well,

  323. iron swam.

  324. So,

  325. you know,

  326. that's what I personally believe.

  327. And then I think it made sense

  328. to the young man.

  329. Wow.

  330. You know,

  331. it's whole.

  332. I bet you it was a better handle

  333. than it was before.

  334. And you might be thinking,

  335. man,

  336. Brother Ethan went through

  337. his points really fast.

  338. Well,

  339. we're getting into the meat of it now.

  340. But the message,

  341. you might be wondering,

  342. all right,

  343. Brother Ethan,

  344. this is a neat,

  345. you know,

  346. little tidbit here.

  347. What's it mean?

  348. You know,

  349. are we not supposed

  350. to loan out our tools?

  351. On the flip side,

  352. are we not supposed

  353. to borrow tools?

  354. Oh,

  355. I got it.

  356. You know,

  357. don't build on waterfront property.

  358. You know,

  359. hire professionals

  360. because you get what you pay for.

  361. You know,

  362. those aren't what

  363. I got out of this.

  364. I used to read through Scripture

  365. and I think it's a good thing.

  366. But I would always try

  367. to figure out,

  368. what does this have to do

  369. with me?

  370. What can I learn from this?

  371. What can I apply

  372. into my life?

  373. You know,

  374. what are the do's and don'ts here?

  375. And I think those are good things

  376. to look for.

  377. And it really wasn't

  378. until recently,

  379. which I feel

  380. like a

  381. moron,

  382. but,

  383. you know,

  384. God's word

  385. really isn't for us

  386. necessarily

  387. to better ourselves,

  388. but it's

  389. to get to know

  390. who God is.

  391. And

  392. looking at it

  393. from that perspective,

  394. things

  395. became a little more

  396. clearer to me.

  397. The first thing I noticed

  398. was God's providence.

  399. If you turn with me

  400. to Romans chapter 8,

    Romans 8 chapter mention

  401. I think so many times

  402. we think that God

  403. is kind of like a goalie.

  404. He's just on the defense.

  405. When Satan attacks,

  406. you know,

  407. God bats it out.

  408. But that's not how

  409. God,

  410. God

  411. is so many steps ahead.

  412. You know,

  413. he's orchestrating

  414. this whole

  415. ordeal.

  416. You know,

  417. God knew

  418. that Elisha

  419. was going to be there

  420. when it happened.

  421. This kid,

  422. he didn't know that,

  423. but God was already

  424. way ahead of him.

  425. Romans 8,

  426. 28,

  427. it says,

  428. and we know

  429. that all things

  430. work together for good

  431. to them that love God,

  432. to them who are the called

  433. according to his purpose.

  434. For whom he did foreknow,

  435. he also did predestinate

  436. to be conformed

  437. to the image

  438. of his son,

  439. that he might be

  440. the firstborn

  441. among many brethren.

  442. As believers,

  443. we don't need

  444. the faint

  445. during the

  446. alas times,

  447. during our times

  448. of pain,

  449. grief,

  450. and distress.

  451. Why not?

  452. Because God

  453. has a perfect plan.

  454. It's a two-fold plan.

  455. It's simple.

  456. His glory,

  457. our good.

  458. His plan for us

  459. and our desire

  460. should be

  461. to be like Christ.

  462. If you'll turn with me

  463. to Ephesians chapter 1,

    Ephesians 1 chapter mention

  464. we'll start reading

  465. in verse 4.

  466. It says,

  467. according as he

  468. hath chosen us

  469. in him

  470. before the foundation

  471. of the world,

  472. that we should be

  473. holy and without blame

  474. before him in love,

  475. having predestinated us

  476. unto the adoption

  477. of children

  478. by Jesus Christ

  479. to himself,

  480. according to the good

  481. pleasure

  482. of his will.

  483. This predestination,

  484. it only pertains

  485. to us

  486. who are saved.

  487. I have not been able

  488. to find anywhere

  489. in Scripture

  490. where God

  491. predestines people

  492. to eternal condemnation.

  493. Those people

  494. choose to reject

  495. Christ

  496. and his free gift,

  497. his shed blood.

  498. Turn with me

  499. to John chapter 3

    John 3 chapter mention

  500. just to further

  501. drive that point home.

  502. As I've gone out

  503. and talked to people

  504. about Christ,

  505. there's been several times

  506. people will ask,

  507. well,

  508. how can you serve

  509. a God that

  510. and fill in the blank?

  511. I remember one guy,

  512. he was Native American

  513. and he asked

  514. how I could serve

  515. a God

  516. that allowed

  517. so much tragedy

  518. to happen

  519. to Native American people.

  520. I don't have

  521. an answer for you.

  522. I just asked

  523. how come

  524. there's so many

  525. babies dying

  526. because I saw

  527. that he had

  528. a pro-abortion

  529. sticker in his window.

  530. There's no answer.

  531. I'm not God.

  532. but I think

  533. there's interesting

  534. things to know.

  535. God already knows

  536. this stuff.

  537. John chapter 3

    John 3:18

  538. verse 18

  539. getting back

  540. to our point.

  541. He that believeth

  542. on him

  543. which Jesus Christ

  544. is not condemned

  545. but he that believeth

  546. not is condemned

  547. already

  548. because he hath

  549. not believed

  550. in the name

  551. of the only

  552. begotten Son of God

  553. and this is the

  554. condemnation

  555. that light

  556. is come into the world

  557. and men love

  558. darkness

  559. rather than light

  560. because their deeds

  561. were evil.

  562. For everyone

  563. that doeth evil

  564. hateth the light

  565. neither cometh

  566. to the light

  567. lest his deeds

  568. should be reproved.

  569. God chose us

  570. at the beginning

  571. we see that

  572. in 2 Thessalonians 2

  573. 13 and 14

  574. let's turn there

  575. we still got time

  576. 2 Thessalonians

  577. verses 2

  578. or chapter 2

  579. verse 13 and 14

  580. says

  581. but we are bound

  582. to give thanks

  583. always

  584. to God for you

  585. brethren

  586. beloved of the Lord

  587. because God

  588. hath from the beginning

  589. chosen you

  590. to salvation

  591. through sanctification

  592. of the spirit

  593. and belief

  594. of the truth

  595. whereunto

  596. he called you

  597. by our gospel

  598. to the obtaining

  599. of the glory

  600. of our Lord

  601. Jesus Christ

  602. he chose us

  603. and those of us

  604. who responded

  605. to his call

  606. were justified

  607. will be glorified

  608. let's turn real quickly

  609. to John chapter 17

    John 17:21

  610. verse 21

  611. that they all

  612. may be one

  613. as thou

  614. father

  615. are in me

  616. and I in thee

  617. that they also

  618. may be one

  619. in us

  620. that the world

  621. may believe

  622. that thou

  623. has sent me

  624. and the glory

  625. which thou

  626. gave us me

  627. I have given

  628. them

  629. that they

  630. may be one

  631. even as we

  632. are one

  633. I in them

  634. and thou

  635. in me

  636. that they

  637. may be

  638. made perfect

  639. in one

  640. and that the world

  641. may know

  642. that thou

  643. has sent me

  644. and has loved

  645. them

  646. as thou

  647. has loved

  648. me

  649. so we

  650. already

  651. share the

  652. glory

  653. of God

  654. so then

  655. why do we

  656. get discouraged

  657. why do we

  658. get frustrated

  659. our suffering

  660. today

  661. only guarantees

  662. that much

  663. more glory

  664. when Christ

  665. arrives

  666. it took me

  667. a little while

  668. to understand

  669. that the

  670. heartbreak

  671. that I went

  672. through

  673. at my

  674. former church

  675. was just

  676. God

  677. orchestrating

  678. the opportunity

  679. that I would

  680. get to meet

  681. my wife

  682. I would

  683. never would

  684. have met

  685. her

  686. if that

  687. hadn't

  688. happened

  689. God

  690. just used

  691. the person

  692. to get

  693. that going

  694. and I don't

  695. I've told

  696. my wife

  697. this

  698. it's done

  699. and over

  700. with

  701. I'm so

  702. thankful

  703. because

  704. in Bible

  705. college

  706. I was

  707. praying

  708. God

  709. I want

  710. to have

  711. a wife

  712. I want

  713. to have

  714. a family

  715. and years

  716. you know

  717. a decade

  718. goes by

  719. and I'm

  720. still being

  721. faithful to

  722. the Lord

  723. I'm still

  724. doing what

  725. I need

  726. to do

  727. and this

  728. isn't

  729. happening

  730. well God

  731. was orchestrating

  732. it the whole

  733. time

  734. just like

  735. God knew

  736. that that

  737. axe handle

  738. would break

  739. and Elisha

  740. was going

  741. to be

  742. there

  743. I just

  744. didn't see

  745. it at the

  746. time

  747. and

  748. I'm so

  749. thick headed

  750. just like the

  751. children of

  752. Israel

  753. you know

  754. with the

  755. business

  756. I think

  757. to myself

  758. oh man

  759. Lord

  760. we're in

  761. the thick

  762. of it

  763. you know

  764. alas

  765. and you

  766. know what

  767. God is

  768. orchestrating

  769. and he's

  770. there

  771. he knows

  772. he knows

  773. what's going

  774. to happen

  775. he's going

  776. to take

  777. care of

  778. it

  779. I just

  780. have to

  781. trust him

  782. so that's

  783. the first

  784. thing I saw

  785. in this

  786. was God's

  787. providence

  788. but then

  789. secondly

  790. God's

  791. attention

  792. to the

  793. little

  794. things

  795. you might

  796. be thinking

  797. about this

  798. account

  799. because I

  800. know I

  801. was

  802. if I'm

  803. going to

  804. be

  805. completely

  806. honest

  807. with you

  808. I was

  809. like

  810. that's

  811. neat

  812. that's

  813. a cool

  814. account

  815. you know

  816. iron float

  817. everything

  818. that you

  819. could have

  820. put in

  821. the Bible

  822. and we

  823. get this

  824. story

  825. frankly I

  826. would like

  827. to know

  828. a little

  829. more about

  830. the Garden

  831. of Eden

  832. what fruit

  833. really was

  834. from the

  835. tree of

  836. knowledge

  837. of good

  838. and evil

  839. I got to

  840. thinking

  841. it would

  842. have been

  843. more interesting

  844. in my

  845. opinion

  846. to know

  847. what exactly

  848. was Jesus

  849. writing in

  850. the sand

  851. when they

  852. found that

  853. adulterous

  854. woman

  855. I personally

  856. believe it

  857. was the

  858. names

  859. of the

  860. guilty

  861. but I

  862. don't

  863. know

  864. I was

  865. thinking to

  866. myself

  867. you know

  868. we hear

  869. about

  870. behemoth

  871. unicorn

  872. leviathan

  873. couldn't

  874. we get

  875. a little

  876. more

  877. information

  878. I mean

  879. the axe

  880. head

  881. was cool

  882. but I

  883. mean

  884. these

  885. are

  886. fire

  887. breathing

  888. underwater

  889. creature

  890. that's

  891. pretty cool

  892. God

  893. pays

  894. attention

  895. to the

  896. insignificant

  897. in chapter

  898. 5

  899. of 2nd

  900. Kings

  901. Naaman

  902. who is

  903. the captain

  904. of the host

  905. of the

  906. armies

  907. of Syria

  908. he's

  909. basically

  910. the general

  911. of the

  912. enemy

  913. enemy

  914. and he's

  915. sick

  916. and he

  917. comes

  918. and he

  919. gets healed

  920. by

  921. Elisha

  922. and you

  923. know what

  924. happens

  925. the king

  926. of Israel

  927. starts getting

  928. scared

  929. he's like

  930. what is that

  931. guy doing

  932. here

  933. we're gonna

  934. get attacked

  935. we are about

  936. to get

  937. attacked

  938. and there's

  939. chaos brewing

  940. you read the

  941. rest of chapter

  942. 6

  943. guess what

  944. happens

  945. Syria

  946. comes

  947. and they're

  948. ready

  949. to attack

  950. and you see

  951. another miracle

  952. performed

  953. one of the

  954. servants

  955. comes to

  956. Elisha

  957. and he's

  958. scared

  959. and Elisha

  960. blinds the

  961. army

  962. we have

  963. all this

  964. chaos

  965. all this

  966. war

  967. going on

  968. and God

  969. breaks

  970. to give us

  971. a story

  972. about a

  973. nun named

  974. man

  975. with his

  976. axe

  977. how important

  978. are we

  979. God says

  980. that he

  981. takes care

  982. of the

  983. sparrow

  984. he dresses

  985. the lily

  986. he knows

  987. the hair

  988. on our

  989. heads

  990. some

  991. of it's

  992. easier

  993. than

  994. others

  995. but he

  996. knows

  997. those

  998. things

  999. that's

  1000. how

  1001. important

  1002. you

  1003. are

  1004. he

  1005. sees

  1006. what

  1007. you're

  1008. going

  1009. through

  1010. and

  1011. sometimes

  1012. I look

  1013. around

  1014. and I

  1015. see all

  1016. the chaos

  1017. in our

  1018. world

  1019. and sometimes

  1020. I really

  1021. have to

  1022. rein myself

  1023. in

  1024. because I'm

  1025. like what

  1026. is the

  1027. point

  1028. there's

  1029. so much

  1030. evil

  1031. so much

  1032. wickedness

  1033. but you

  1034. know God

  1035. knows that

  1036. and he's

  1037. taking care

  1038. of the

  1039. little

  1040. things

  1041. when we

  1042. like the

  1043. man in

  1044. our

  1045. text

  1046. learn to

  1047. just

  1048. give it

  1049. to our

  1050. master

  1051. don't

  1052. worry

  1053. about

  1054. it

  1055. God

  1056. makes

  1057. a way

  1058. would you

  1059. have ever

  1060. guessed

  1061. that he

  1062. would have

  1063. made the

  1064. iron

  1065. swim

  1066. no

  1067. but God

  1068. has a way

  1069. to do

  1070. that

  1071. throughout

  1072. scripture

  1073. do you

  1074. think

  1075. he would

  1076. have

  1077. closed

  1078. up

  1079. the

  1080. lion's

  1081. mouth

  1082. for

  1083. Daniel

  1084. God

  1085. did

  1086. it

  1087. it

  1088. was

  1089. already

  1090. handled

  1091. I

  1092. think

  1093. about

  1094. Joseph

  1095. getting

  1096. sold

  1097. into

  1098. slavery

  1099. twice

  1100. and now

  1101. he's

  1102. rotting

  1103. in prison

  1104. he might

  1105. be

  1106. thinking

  1107. what

  1108. is

  1109. going

  1110. on

  1111. but

  1112. God

  1113. had

  1114. orchestrated

  1115. all

  1116. of

  1117. that

  1118. so

  1119. that

  1120. his

  1121. family

  1122. could

  1123. be

  1124. fed

  1125. essentially

  1126. saving

  1127. the

  1128. world

  1129. because

  1130. Egypt

  1131. was

  1132. the

  1133. powerhouse

  1134. feeding

  1135. everybody

  1136. all

  1137. throughout

  1138. scripture

  1139. there's

  1140. instances

  1141. like

  1142. this

  1143. God

  1144. has

  1145. it

  1146. under

  1147. control

  1148. and

  1149. all

  1150. we

  1151. need

  1152. to

  1153. do

  1154. is

  1155. trust

  1156. that

  1157. he's

  1158. caring

  1159. for

  1160. us

  1161. because

  1162. he

  1163. says

  1164. he

  1165. does

  1166. I

  1167. had

  1168. a lot

  1169. that

  1170. I

  1171. wanted

  1172. to

  1173. say

  1174. tonight

  1175. and

  1176. I

  1177. think

  1178. that's

  1179. where

  1180. I'm

  1181. going

  1182. to

  1183. leave

  1184. it

  1185. go

  1186. ahead

  1187. and

  1188. bow

  1189. your

  1190. heads

  1191. with

  1192. me

  1193. we'll

  1194. pray
