  1. Go ahead and take your Bibles this morning to 2 Corinthians chapter 9, 2 Corinthians chapter 9 this morning.

2 Corinthians 9 chapter mention 2 Corinthians 9 chapter mention

  2. !

  3. The greatest gift of all time.

  4. And, you know, we actually, when it comes to gifts and giving, you know, we naturally do love to receive gifts.

  5. There's something that it does mentally to us when you receive something.

  6. It's something that we enjoy.

  7. You know, gifts remind us of something very important.

  8. It's because when somebody gives you a gift, it reminds you that you're valued and that you're cared for.

  9. You know, that somebody's concerned about you.

  10. And, you know, God's gift to us is the same thing.

  11. It revealed that God is concerned about you.

  12. You know, the reality and the need of giving, you know.

  13. And as Jesus said, you know, it's more blessed to give than to receive.

  14. You know, He declared this because God is in the giving business.

  15. You know, the gift is great, but God is in the giving business.

  16. And He gives so much to us as we look and consider throughout time because God is a great giver.

  17. You know, we can learn a lot about giving from Him.

  18. Matter of fact, we cannot understand giving if we don't understand God's concept of giving.

  19. He's the initiator of it.

  20. God was a giver from the very beginning.

  21. If you think about all the things throughout time, you know, God gave Adam and Eve a piece of skin from an innocent animal to replace the fig leaves and to cover their shame.

  22. You know, God gave Noah a plan for the ark that would provide the saving of his household.

  23. And God gave Abraham a promise concerning his seed that we celebrate even today.

  24. You know, you think about how He gave Sarah a precious child in her old age.

  25. He gave Isaac a ram to take his place on the sacrificial altar there at Mount Moriah.

  26. You know, God gave Jacob 12 sons who were becoming the leaders of the tribes of Israel.

  27. And He gave Joseph a minister in Egypt that he might save the people.

  28. I mean, you think about the different items.

  29. You know, God gave the Israelites possession of a land.

  30. And He gave kings to preside over His people and prophets to plead with His people.

  31. And He gave Scripture to tell us about His gift that was yet to come, who would come and deliver and to save.

  32. And God gave an announcement by the angels that Jesus was born.

  33. You know, He gave a sign to the wise men, a star to lead them to the young Jesus there.

  34. And God gave Joseph the patience to understand the circumstances surrounding the child.

  35. You know, God gave Jesus the place of sinners on the cross to bear our sin.

  36. You know, when we think about all the things that God gives.

  37. Giving is a continual thing.

  38. And God understands both the importance of giving and the gift itself.

  39. You know, because the idea of giving is good, but the gift that you give is important.

  40. You know, here a few weeks ago, we had our gift white elephant gift exchange.

  41. And some of you may not have appreciated what you went home with.

  42. It was a gift, but it may not have been exactly what you wanted.

  43. You know, when we understand that gifts carry a context with them.

  44. And you have gifts that you've been given throughout the years that you remember.

  45. You know, how many remember gifts from a kid when you were a little kid?

  46. You know, something that stuck with you.

  47. You know, and things that you might have or keep over the years because they had substance or they had importance to that gift.

  48. But we know also there was other gifts that were just kind of passed by.

  49. But you know, the Bible speaks about a gift.

  50. And we're going to look here this morning.

  51. If you found 2 Corinthians, let's stand together here for just a...

  52. We'll read one verse here this morning.

  53. And we'll pray and we'll get into the message and talk a little bit about this precious gift that we celebrate.

  54. Verse 15 says this, thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

  55. Let's pray.

  56. Heavenly Father, as we just come before you this morning, Lord, we just thank you just for the gift that you've given to us.

  57. Lord, pray just have your hand upon each heart, each life here today.

  58. Lord, for all that you've given to us.

  59. Lord, help us to always be mindful of it.

  60. Lord, let's consider the importance of it.

  61. But Lord, also just the blessing of it to us.

  62. And Lord, we pray just meet with each one in a mighty way, Lord, as we just spend time together with you today.

  63. And Lord, we just give you all the praise in Jesus' name.

  64. Amen.

  65. May be seated.

  66. You know, a very simple verse here.

  67. You know, thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

  68. You know, consider that reality.

  69. It's a gift.

  70. An unspeakable gift.

  71. You know, it's a gift.

  72. That's the greatest gift that's ever been given.

  73. It's a gift beyond our comprehension, really.

  74. I mean, we can understand the basics of salvation, but the more you study it, the deeper it becomes.

  75. You know, to understand the complexity that God provided in this gift.

  76. You know, so we need to understand what makes a great gift.

  77. You know, I think God describes to us what makes a great gift.

  78. And one is, the first thing is, is a gift that's remembered.

  79. You know, when you remember the gift, it means it was something of significance.

  80. It's something that was there.

  81. You know, I remember as a child, you have different gifts that you were given, you know.

  82. Some, when we received gifts, some of them you might have appreciated, but the duration wasn't very long, you know.

  83. Some of you might have grown up in the era when you, at Christmas time, it was the mid-year, school year refresh.

  84. You get the underwear and socks.

  85. You know, and that was all, you could guarantee that was one of the gifts you were going to get, you know.

  86. And, or you had gifts that were throughout, you know.

  87. You maybe have a tradition of giving PJs, you know.

  88. And all those things of everybody running around in matching clothes.

  89. You know, you always have those type things that go on, you know.

  90. They might have been appreciated, but the duration of them were pretty short-lived.

  91. You know, they didn't have a remembrance to them.

  92. And, you know, when we receive a gift, something that makes a great gift is one that's remembered.

  93. You know, think about 2,000 plus years have gone by and we still remember the gift that God gave.

  94. That's a gift that's remembered.

  95. You know, we find in Luke chapter 2, it tells us this,

    Luke 2 chapter mention

  96. as she brought forth her firstborn son and wrapped him in his swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger

  97. because there was no room for them in the end.

  98. You know, when you consider that Mary placed that precious gift in the manger that day,

  99. it wasn't without, it was without much fanfare.

  100. I mean, sometimes at Christmas we think about, you know, Christmas programs and Christmas pageants.

  101. I mean, and all the different things you've seen over the years.

  102. And you think about, you know, all the things that's going on.

  103. Oftentimes we think it all happened at the same time.

  104. You know, when Mary gave birth to Jesus and laid him in that manger,

  105. it was a pretty solemn evening.

  106. It was pretty quiet.

  107. It was kind of a serious dynamic if you want to be truthful about it.

  108. As she would lay him there, there was no parades.

  109. There was no flashing lights.

  110. There was nothing that would have told anybody much at the moment of what was taking place.

  111. Just a couple of young kids there taking care of a gift that was carefully placed in a manger.

  112. You know, I doubt Mary and Joseph understood what was taking place all fully.

  113. I mean, we have trouble comprehending it today.

  114. I can't imagine them trying to process all that was taking place.

  115. That what was happening that night would be something that would be remembered

  116. because of the substance of God's gift.

  117. God's gift was one that was to be remembered.

  118. It's definitely a great gift is one that's remembered.

  119. One that we recall.

  120. One that we keep in mind.

  121. But you know, another element we find of a great gift is that it's useful.

  122. It has a purpose behind it.

  123. You know, it has some substance with it.

  124. And we've all received gifts that are not essential or useful.

  125. You know, sometimes we'll receive a gag gift or you get something that sits around or you have.

  126. I mean, you probably all have stuff in storage.

  127. Well, somebody gave it to me, so I want to keep it.

  128. Say, preacher, now you're meddling.

  129. It's like, you know, we have these different gifts.

  130. You know, they're not essential or useful.

  131. Or then you become grandparents and then your fridge is filled full of wonderful gifts.

  132. You know, scribbled artwork.

  133. They're precious, but they're not necessarily useful.

  134. They're valuable, but not useful, you might say.

  135. You know, we might have got a silly gift that caused us to laugh.

  136. And, you know, when we're reminded of those things.

  137. You know, we're reminded that though the idea of gifts is important in what God gives to us.

  138. Gifts that are going to be useful are good gifts.

  139. James tells us this in James 1.17.

  140. He says,

  141. You know, that perfect gift comes down from God.

  142. The one, those gifts that are essential and they're useful.

  143. But the most useful gift that God gave was himself.

  144. When we consider what God gave that day and what Jesus was preparing to do.

  145. Because he sent a gift.

  146. You know, oftentimes today, I think in culture, we get caught up in the fact that there was a babe in a manger.

  147. But, you know, that gift didn't come to stay a babe.

  148. That gift didn't come to just grow up and to be an example.

  149. That gift was given because it was useful.

  150. It was beneficial.

  151. It was very beneficial for us.

  152. You know, you think about what Jesus said in Luke chapter 5 in verse 32.

    Luke 5 chapter mention

  153. I came not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.

  154. You know, that's usefulness.

  155. Jesus said, I didn't just come for the sake of it.

  156. I came to be useful, to be purposeful in what was accomplished.

  157. You know, later on in Luke chapter 24, verse 47, it says,

    Luke 24:47

  158. And repentance and remission of sin should be preached in his name among all nations beginning at Jerusalem.

  159. You know, the gift that God gave that night was a useful gift.

  160. It was a gift that's going to be beneficial.

  161. It's still beneficial for us today.

  162. You know, it's not only, it was useful not only to call sinners to repentance,

  163. but to provide for that sinner to be made clean.

  164. You know, oftentimes we don't, we forget the importance of the usefulness of the gift.

  165. It wasn't just to let us know that we're a sinner, but that that sin was taken care of.

  166. That God provided a way for us.

  167. And God brought those things in line that we might be saved.

  168. You know, Hebrews chapter 10 tells us this,

    Hebrews 10 chapter mention

  169. But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever,

  170. sat down on the right hand of God.

  171. You know, it was a useful gift.

  172. It served a purpose, a very direct purpose for us.

  173. You know, it wasn't only useful in the call and the sacrifice,

  174. it provided a way for us to be reconciled.

  175. You know, that word reconciliation.

  176. You know, think over in Colossians chapter 1.

    Colossians 1 chapter mention

  177. Colossians chapter 1, we find that the reconciliation was part of that gift,

    Colossians 1 chapter mention

  178. a means to be restored to God.

  179. That restoration is very critical in what was provided.

  180. It was not only useful in just a substance, but in reconciling us together.

  181. It says, and you who were sometimes alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works,

  182. yet now hath he reconciled.

  183. You know, that word reconciled means bring together.

  184. You know, one of the things that we celebrate at Christmas is people come together.

  185. You know what God did?

  186. He set forth to bring us to Him.

  187. To bring us together, to be able to once again have fellowship with Him.

  188. This great gift is remarkable in that it was remembered.

  189. It's a great gift because it was useful.

  190. You know, those are two very important things of a gift.

  191. But you know, another important thing about a gift is timeliness.

  192. Timeliness.

  193. You know, timeliness.

  194. Timing is critical in many things in life.

  195. You know, when we understand that good timing keeps things flowing smoothly.

  196. You know, there's all sorts of areas.

  197. We understand timing.

  198. You know, we realize that timing of a good joke, you know,

  199. if you don't get your timing right when you're telling a joke,

  200. it just ruins the whole thing.

  201. You know, if you miss those things of timing, you know,

  202. but things are important on timing, arriving at the right time.

  203. You know, nowadays if you go to the airport and you don't arrive at the right time,

  204. you're in trouble.

  205. You know, you miss the plane or you miss where you ought to be.

  206. You know, when it comes to just nature itself,

  207. knowing when to plant at the right time or to harvest at the right time.

  208. You know, sometimes it involves just asking at the right time

  209. because timing is what keeps things in sync.

  210. It helps things to move and to flow at the right means

  211. and the right sequence of events.

  212. And oftentimes we forget the importance of God's timing.

  213. This gift is important because it was exactly on time.

  214. It was at the exact moment that it could accomplish completely

  215. what God sent forth His Son to do.

  216. You know, look over to Galatians chapter 4 for a moment.

    Galatians 4 chapter mention

  217. You know, you see here in Galatians chapter 4,

    Galatians 4 chapter mention

  218. it's a verse that, you know, we often speak of

  219. and you hear oftentimes, but you know,

  220. I want you to consider the timing of this.

  221. It says,

  222. but when the fullness of time was come,

  223. God set forth His Son made of a woman made under the law

  224. to redeem them that were under the law

  225. that they might receive the adoption of sons.

  226. I want you to understand that when God sent forth Jesus,

  227. it was at the right exact time.

  228. You know, when you begin to study history,

  229. the world was, the stage of the world was set

  230. to perfectly accomplish what God had set forth.

  231. When you see how God allowed things to come into play,

  232. that timing was absolutely perfect

  233. because God had set up a means to get the gospel

  234. throughout the known world,

  235. throughout the world so people could hear.

  236. Because many times in history, as you understand,

  237. that sometimes division and conflict keep people

  238. from being able to move or to communicate.

  239. You know, when Jesus came forth,

  240. it was a time of peace.

  241. Historically, it's called the Pax Romana.

  242. It's Roman peace, almost 200 years

  243. of general peace throughout the region.

  244. And you say, well, why is that important?

  245. You know what?

  246. It allowed for commerce.

  247. It allowed for interactions.

  248. It allowed people to freely move.

  249. Ideas were exchanged.

  250. And you know what?

  251. It opened the door for the gospel to go forth.

  252. It provided a way, Roman roads,

  253. for the messengers to walk upon.

  254. It had a common language because of that.

  255. It had a common business language

  256. that people could communicate with one another.

  257. God's timing is impeccable.

  258. It says in the fullness of time was coming.

  259. In other words, God said at this moment

  260. is the perfect moment that Jesus was to be born.

  261. He put those things in place very carefully.

  262. You know, we oftentimes don't consider

  263. how God allows even wicked men to be used of him.

  264. You know, oftentimes we think of Caesar,

  265. you know, and you think about the cruelty of the Romans.

  266. But you know what?

  267. God allowed them to set some things in place

  268. and allowed them to continue.

  269. One of the quaint things of history

  270. is the Romans had some rules

  271. that played into things,

  272. but Jews had an exception.

  273. The Jews were the only ones

  274. who didn't have to openly offer sacrifices to Caesar.

  275. They had given them an exception

  276. throughout the Roman Empire.

  277. You say, preacher, why is that important?

  278. It's important because when the message of Jesus began to spread,

  279. you know what the Romans didn't look at as a new religion?

  280. They just looked at it as a branch of Judaism.

  281. What did it do?

  282. It gave protection of law,

  283. that it might be spread and move forth.

  284. It's amazing as you begin to study God's timing,

  285. the things that God had in place.

  286. It wasn't just random.

  287. God just put his finger on a moment in time

  288. and said, I'm going to send Jesus Christ.

  289. Ah, about there.

  290. I want you to understand, that wasn't what happened.

  291. God had this timing planned out perfectly.

  292. His timing is an amazing thing when it comes to the birth of Christ.

  293. It was at that perfect moment when everything was in place.

  294. His coming was a strategic timing,

  295. providentially set by God.

  296. His coming was not one day before or behind the appointed time.

  297. You know, when we understand that God had this timed out perfectly.

  298. When you think about in the hearts of the people,

  299. God's law had done its work.

  300. It had shown that men are sinners.

  301. You know, when you understand the gospel was built

  302. upon the truth of the law of God.

  303. You know, the law is our schoolmaster, Paul tells us.

  304. It reveals to us that we're sinners that need to be saved.

  305. When we understand that the law had been,

  306. the picture had been set forth in the law of all the sacrifices

  307. that pointed to Christ.

  308. Those things were ingrained within the people

  309. to understand what was taking place in regards to it

  310. and the need for it.

  311. You know, when we understand that the world fully knew

  312. that it couldn't keep and had proved it could not keep

  313. the standard God had set.

  314. of God's standard of holiness.

  315. God set forth these things at this right moment.

  316. When we understand that the world was full of people

  317. spiritually famished and the worship of self and pleasure

  318. and false gods and philosophical ethics

  319. that served no longer seemed useful.

  320. His timing was there.

  321. And you know, that's the important part about a gift

  322. is timing.

  323. God's gift to us

  324. of His Son was at the perfect time.

  325. It was set forth.

  326. It's a gift that's remembered.

  327. It's a gift that's useful.

  328. It's a gift that's timely.

  329. But I want you to understand,

  330. God's gift goes above and beyond

  331. because it does something few gifts could ever do

  332. and none can do to this magnitude

  333. and that's life-changing.

  334. It's a gift that changes somebody's life.

  335. You know, oftentimes today,

  336. you'll hear people say,

  337. you know, well, that was a life,

  338. something life-changing

  339. that happened in their life.

  340. You know, or they talk about

  341. life-changing amounts of money

  342. that somebody might inherit or to win.

  343. You know, that's going to change their life.

  344. You know what?

  345. It might alter their life,

  346. but I don't believe it changes their life

  347. because the gospel does something

  348. nothing else of this world can do.

  349. It changes an individual.

  350. It's life-changing.

  351. You know, a few gifts will change your life

  352. and most just alter the day

  353. or the weeks after

  354. but soon fade away.

  355. But, you know, consider,

  356. look over to 2 Corinthians chapter 5.

    2 Corinthians 5 chapter mention

  357. 2 Corinthians chapter 5,

    2 Corinthians 5 chapter mention

  358. we find that the gift that God gives

  359. is something unique

  360. and that because he says this,

  361. you're no longer who you were,

  362. you are now different.

  363. Not just your circumstances,

  364. not just the situation of life,

  365. but when you call upon him as Savior,

  366. you are different.

  367. Look what it says here.

  368. Therefore, if any man be in Christ,

  369. he is what?

  370. A new creature.

  371. Old things are passed away.

  372. Behold, all things are become what?

  373. New.

  374. You know, I call that a life-changing gift.

  375. You know, when you think about the change

  376. that happens, you know,

  377. Ephesians chapter 4,

    Ephesians 4 chapter mention

  378. look over to Ephesians 4 and verse 24.

  379. The Bible tells us this.

  380. It says very clearly that you put on

  381. the new man after which God is created

  382. in righteousness and true holiness.

  383. There's a change that takes place,

  384. a change that transforms us

  385. from a lost sinner

  386. to one that is redeemed,

  387. a child of God.

  388. It changes men and women

  389. from an enemy of God

  390. to a friend of God.

  391. It changes the direction

  392. of not only our present,

  393. but changes direction of our future.

  394. It changes what's ahead.

  395. You know, think about

  396. what the Scripture tells us.

  397. Let's go to Romans chapter 5

    Romans 5 chapter mention

  398. for a moment.

  399. Romans chapter 5,

    Romans 5 chapter mention

  400. look down in verse 15.

  401. It says this,

  402. but not as the offense,

  403. so also is the free gift,

  404. that though the offense of one,

  405. many be dead,

  406. much more the grace of God,

  407. that the gift by grace,

  408. which by one man,

  409. Jesus Christ,

  410. had abounded unto many.

  411. And not as it was by one man

  412. that sinned,

  413. so is the gift.

  414. For the judgment was by one

  415. to condemnation,

  416. but the free gift

  417. is of many offenses

  418. unto justification.

  419. For if by one man's offense

  420. death reigned by one,

  421. much more which receive

  422. abundance of grace

  423. and the gift of righteousness

  424. shall reign in life

  425. by one Jesus Christ.

  426. Therefore,

  427. as by the offense of one judgment

  428. came upon all men

  429. to condemnation,

  430. even so by righteousness

  431. of one,

  432. the free gift

  433. came upon all men

  434. under the justification

  435. of life.

  436. You know,

  437. think about the change,

  438. the new life,

  439. you've moved from death

  440. to life.

  441. The gift of eternal life,

  442. the gift of God's righteousness

  443. placed upon us.

  444. The things that take place,

  445. God's gift to us

  446. is a wonderful gift.

  447. It's a life-changing gift.

  448. It's a gift by grace,

  449. God's unmerited favor.

  450. You know,

  451. when you understand

  452. what God gave to us,

  453. what He offered to us

  454. is a life-changing gift.

  455. A gift that alters everything,

  456. a gift unto justification,

  457. you know,

  458. that remission of sins,

  459. that being absolved from guilt.

  460. In other words,

  461. you're no longer guilty,

  462. but you've been pardoned.

  463. That's life-changing.

  464. You know,

  465. the last few years,

  466. pardons have made the news a lot.

  467. You know what?

  468. Pardons change somebody's life.

  469. There's no doubt

  470. a pardon changes somebody's life.

  471. It alters everything.

  472. It changes what they can do,

  473. where they can go.

  474. It changes their liberty.

  475. It changes all sorts of elements

  476. about their life.

  477. It flips their life upside down.

  478. That's an earthly pardon.

  479. A heavenly pardon

  480. is even greater.

  481. It far exceeds,

  482. but it gives us that picture

  483. of what Christ has done.

  484. We're justified,

  485. but we're not just justified,

  486. we're made righteous.

  487. In other words,

  488. God says,

  489. I don't just take care of the problem,

  490. I put something better in its place.

  491. That's His righteousness.

  492. That's the conformity of us

  493. to Him being made right

  494. in the sight of God.

  495. When God looks at one that is saved,

  496. He no longer sees our sin.

  497. He sees His Son.

  498. Because the Bible tells us

  499. that we put on His righteousness,

  500. not our own.

  501. That's a picture that changes everything.

  502. You know, a gift is just that.

  503. A gift is remembered,

  504. it's useful,

  505. it's timing,

  506. it's life-changing.

  507. But you know,

  508. one important thing

  509. about a great gift

  510. is it's lasting.

  511. Lasting.

  512. A gift that is great

  513. will last.

  514. You know,

  515. not every gift

  516. lasts a long time.

  517. You know?

  518. Some gifts are great

  519. for the moment,

  520. you know?

  521. One of the great things

  522. you can give

  523. is, you know,

  524. like dark chocolate bars.

  525. You know?

  526. You enjoy it,

  527. it's great.

  528. The problem is

  529. they're not very lasting.

  530. You know?

  531. If you get them for Christmas,

  532. they might make the week.

  533. Great gift,

  534. but not much duration.

  535. You know,

  536. a gift can be great,

  537. it can be enjoyable,

  538. but if it misses the duration,

  539. God's gift to us

  540. is one that's lasting.

  541. The Bible calls it

  542. everlasting

  543. and eternal.

  544. You know,

  545. consider what

  546. John 3.36 tells us.

  547. It says,

  548. He that believeth

  549. on the Son

  550. hath what?

  551. Everlasting

  552. life.

  553. It has a duration

  554. to it.

  555. You know,

  556. when we see here,

  557. he tells us this,

  558. that he that believeth

  559. not the Son

  560. shall not see life,

  561. but the wrath of God

  562. abideth on him.

  563. I want you to understand

  564. that if you don't

  565. call upon

  566. and accept God's

  567. free gift,

  568. God's wrath

  569. is also permanently abiding

  570. because it's life changing,

  571. but it's lasting.

  572. John chapter 5

    John 5 chapter mention

  573. tells us this

  574. in verse 24.

  575. The Bible says,

  576. Verily, verily,

  577. I say unto you,

  578. he that heareth my word

  579. and believeth on him

  580. that sent me

  581. hath what?

  582. Everlasting

  583. life.

  584. And shall not come

  585. into condemnation,

  586. but is passed

  587. from death

  588. unto life.

  589. 1 John chapter 5

    1 John 5 chapter mention

  590. tells us this

  591. in verse 12.

  592. It says,

  593. He that hath the Son

  594. hath life,

  595. and he that hath not

  596. the Son of God

  597. hath not life.

  598. These things have I

  599. written unto you

  600. that believe on the name

  601. of the Son of God

  602. that ye may know

  603. that ye have

  604. what?

  605. Eternal

  606. life.

  607. That you can know

  608. that you have it

  609. that you may believe

  610. on the name

  611. of the Son of God.

  612. God's gift

  613. is a great gift.

  614. It's a gift

  615. that you have to do

  616. something with

  617. because like any gift,

  618. it's not a gift

  619. that just can sit there

  620. and look pretty.

  621. It always amazes me

  622. when you go sometimes

  623. you'll see people

  624. they'll wrap empty boxes

  625. so they have plenty

  626. of gifts looking around.

  627. you know,

  628. but they're not gifts

  629. of substance.

  630. They're not gifts

  631. that'll ever be received.

  632. They're not gifts

  633. that are ever going

  634. to be enjoyed.

  635. When we understand

  636. that God has

  637. the greatest gift,

  638. but you know,

  639. sometimes people

  640. are going to choose

  641. to ignore God's gift.

  642. You know,

  643. when somebody goes

  644. to give you a gift,

  645. you have a choice

  646. of what you're going

  647. to do with it.

  648. You can take it

  649. or you can leave it.

  650. A gift is by nature

  651. has that option

  652. you know,

  653. you can ignore it,

  654. you can reject it.

  655. You know,

  656. even today

  657. when it comes

  658. to the greatest gift

  659. ever given,

  660. you find that many mock it.

  661. They try to downplay

  662. the greatest gift

  663. that God has ever

  664. given to us.

  665. The greatest gift

  666. that was given

  667. for us.

  668. You know,

  669. oftentimes I think

  670. we forget

  671. how great a gift

  672. God has given.

  673. The greatest gift

  674. that was ever given

  675. for you

  676. and for me.

  677. You know,

  678. what are we going

  679. to do with

  680. the greatest gift

  681. that God has given?

  682. Because all of us

  683. have a choice.

  684. How are we going

  685. to respond

  686. to the things

  687. that God has given?

  688. Especially the greatest

  689. gift He's ever given

  690. because that gift

  691. was given for you.

  692. It was given

  693. specifically

  694. for me

  695. and for you.

  696. this gift

  697. is one that's

  698. remembered

  699. without a doubt

  700. is the greatest

  701. gift ever given.

  702. It's lasted

  703. a duration.

  704. It was promised

  705. and it was revealed.

  706. Without a doubt

  707. was the greatest gift

  708. that the world

  709. has ever known.

  710. We know it was useful

  711. because it had

  712. the power

  713. to remove

  714. the guilt

  715. of sin.

  716. It was a very

  717. useful gift.

  718. It had a purpose

  719. behind it.

  720. We know it was

  721. timely.

  722. It was timely

  723. then.

  724. But you know what?

  725. It's timely today

  726. because it's just

  727. as pertinent

  728. as important

  729. today

  730. as it ever was.

  731. What's somebody

  732. going to do

  733. with it?

  734. Because what you

  735. do with it

  736. is important.

  737. Because the time

  738. we need it

  739. is right now.

  740. Because we need

  741. to understand

  742. that it's life changing.

  743. You know think

  744. about the lives

  745. that have been

  746. transformed

  747. by God's gift.

  748. The people

  749. who have been

  750. changed

  751. at destinations

  752. of eternity

  753. have been changed.

  754. Things of this life

  755. have been changed.

  756. Families have been

  757. transformed.

  758. Lives have been

  759. made anew

  760. and a promise

  761. of a great future.

  762. We know it's

  763. a great gift

  764. because of the

  765. lasting nature

  766. of God's gift.

  767. You know this morning

  768. I'm just going to

  769. ask you a simple

  770. question.

  771. What have you done

  772. with God's

  773. greatest gift?

  774. God's gift

  775. that He gives

  776. freely.

  777. You know as we

  778. think back to

  779. where we started

  780. out

  781. look back there

  782. to 2 Corinthians

    2 Corinthians 9 chapter mention

  783. chapter 9

  784. look there

  785. at verse 15

  786. I want you

  787. to consider that.

  788. Thanks be unto

  789. God for His

  790. unspeakable

  791. gift.

  792. What have you

  793. done with God's

  794. gift?

  795. Have you called

  796. upon Him?

  797. You know this

  798. morning if you

  799. know you're

  800. saved what have

  801. you done with it?

  802. Are you appreciative

  803. of God's gift?

  804. The most precious

  805. gift He could ever

  806. give.

  807. A gift that was

  808. right on time

  809. for you.

  810. A life changing

  811. gift.

  812. A gift that

  813. lasts for

  814. eternity.

  815. As heads are

  816. bowed and eyes

  817. are closed this

  818. morning.

  819. What about you

  820. today?

  821. I want to

  822. encourage you to

  823. take a moment

  824. just to consider

  825. God's unspeakable

  826. gift that He's

  827. given.

  828. Maybe you just

  829. need to take a

  830. moment and say

  831. thank you for

  832. what God has

  833. provided.

  834. Maybe you're

  835. here today and

  836. don't know for

  837. sure where you

  838. would spend

  839. eternity if you

  840. don't understand

  841. the gift that

  842. God's given.

  843. If you haven't

  844. received God's

  845. gift of salvation,

  846. eternal life,

  847. what about you

  848. today?

  849. No greater day

  850. than today to be

  851. thankful for God's

  852. unspeakable gift.

  853. Heavenly Fathers,

  854. we come before you

  855. this morning,

  856. Lord, we just

  857. thank you and

  858. praise you for

  859. the day, for the

  860. opportunity.

  861. Lord, as we meet

  862. together here,

  863. Lord, just be

  864. thankful.

  865. For the gift

  866. that you've

  867. given, a gift

  868. that is really

  869. incomprehensible to

  870. us as we don't

  871. fully understand

  872. all that took

  873. place and what

  874. you have provided,

  875. Lord, but we

  876. understand that you

  877. made it simple to

  878. understand what the

  879. need was and what

  880. you supplied, what

  881. you took care of.

  882. Lord, I pray just

  883. work upon each

  884. heart, each life

  885. here today that we

  886. might not leave

  887. here unthankful for

  888. the unspeakable gift

  889. that you've given

  890. to us.

  891. Lord, as we take

  892. a moment just to

  893. consider these

  894. things before you,

  895. Lord, we ask it

  896. all in your precious

  897. name.

  898. Amen.

  899. As piano plays,

  900. what about you?

  901. as
