  1. You know, we serve a great God that takes care of us even when we don't see it and don't

  2. understand it. But as we get ready to move into a new year here, and you can go and start finding

  3. your Bibles here this morning, 1 Thessalonians chapter 4, as we're going to continue. It's going

    1 Thessalonians 4 chapter mention

  4. through the book of Thessalonians here this morning. But if you haven't heard yet, there's a

  5. new year right around the corner. You know, it seems like 2025 with the things that the events

  6. and the challenges and the blessings, all those are moving to the past. And the course of the year

  7. has played out. And, you know, there's no way to look back and change what happened last year.

  8. You know, we know that that is settled. That's where it is. But we always find hope in a new year,

  9. the year ahead, when the calendar turns. It seems to have a break in time,

  10. going from the old to the new. And, you know, we celebrate that culturally, you know, as a...but

  11. it's also something that God established. If you understand that it's based in a scriptural thing,

  12. we're not on a Bible or a Jewish calendar. But, you know, God did have a new year for them. And

  13. year by year, and they would renew those things with Him. And that time of the calendar, you know,

  14. the first event on God's calendar was the Passover. You know, it refocused on what God

  15. had done for us, that the blood that was shed for us, that we might be saved. You know, the Passover

  16. was that. It was a celebration and reminder of the blood of the Lamb that was applied and allowed

  17. death to pass over them. It was a new beginning. It separated Israel to follow the Lord, and it will

  18. a call to walk with the Lord, and for that walk also to please the Lord. You know, the believers

  19. at Thessalonica had begun a new life in Christ, a new walk with Him. And the Bible tells us, and Paul

  20. commends them, he says, you've turned from idols unto the living God. And he was thankful that they

  21. received the truth, not as it was from Him, but as it was from God. You know, it's important to

  22. separate that because we may be the messenger, but God's Word reveals who God is. And we need to

  23. always know that the Word of God takes precedent over everything else when it comes to the testimony

  24. of who God is. Because we see this testimony of transformation had taken place, and their

  25. continued hope in the coming Savior held them fast, even in the face of persecution and problems.

  26. And that ought to help us also today to understand that we can look to the future. We can look to

  27. what Christ has promised for us. But we're going to see here, though they were off to a good start,

  28. you know, oftentimes people get off to a good start, but maintaining something gets a little more

  29. challenging. And trying to maintain those things and to understand what's needed to do that. And while the

  30. church at Thessalonica, the believers there were off to a great start, you might say spiritually walking

  31. with the Lord and standing fast and knowing exactly what God had for them, and they were going to trust

  32. the Lord, even though they didn't understand all the details, they said, we're going to trust God as we

  33. walk through. But we're going to see here this morning that while they were off to a good start,

  34. Paul's going to tell them there needs to be some maturing that takes place. Because even though

  35. we're doing good now, we need to understand God has an expectation of continued growth in our faith

  36. and to grow spiritually. And we find that term we're going to look at this morning is called

  37. sanctification. You know, to be sanctified and what that means in that. And Paul's going to have that

  38. because he says they need to grow mature practically in the application of their faith. Because our

  39. faith isn't just something that's on the side. It isn't just a footnote to life. It isn't a secondary

  40. things to life. Your faith has to be the primary thing in life. Because your faith being focused upon

  41. the Lord gives us direction. And this maturing faith, I want you to understand here, if you mature in the

  42. faith, a maturing faith is a faith that pleases God. Now that's important because a lot of people

  43. think they're maturing. But if what you're doing in course and action of life is not pleasing to God,

  44. you're not maturing. You may be maturing in your mind, but you're not maturing spiritually before God.

  45. And we're going to look here this morning as we see this, because chapter four begins with a request

  46. for them to abound more and more in the direction of the Lord. So if you found 1 Thessalonians chapter

  47. four, let's stand together this morning in honor of the reading of the word of God. And we'll read down

  48. a few verses here and pray. And we'll get into the main course of the service here this morning. So

  49. it says, furthermore, then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus,

  50. that you have received of us how you ought to walk and to please God. So you would abound more and more.

  51. For you know the commandments we gave unto you by the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God,

  52. even your sanctification, that you should abstain from fornication, that every one of you should know

  53. how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the lust of concupiscence,

  54. even as the Gentiles, which know not God. But no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter,

  55. because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

  56. For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. He therefore that despises,

  57. despises not man, but God, who has also given unto us his holy spirit. Let's pray. Heavenly

  58. Father, as we come before you this morning, Lord, we just thank you for your word. Thank you for your

  59. direction. Lord, as we look at a very important topic in our life, in our walk with you, Lord,

  60. as it ought to please you. Lord, I pray that you just stir our hearts and minds, even here this morning,

  61. to understand the importance of what we're looking at here today, that we ought to walk

  62. to please you. Lord, help us to evaluate, Lord, even as we go into a new year, to evaluate

  63. where that was, what that looked like last year, and Lord, where it needs to be

  64. this year, not in light of ourselves, but in light of you, in light of your word. And Lord,

  65. we just ask it all in your precious name. Amen. You may be seated. You know, as we see here this morning,

  66. notice this, Paul tells them, he says, furthermore, furthermore then. You know, we're going to see here

  67. that Paul challenges them. He says, furthermore, besides these things, you need to continue.

  68. It's a moving forward, furthermore, moving forward in our walk and in our life with Christ. And the

  69. apostle asks and invites them, he says, we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus

  70. Christ, because he wanted them to continue to grow that they may please God. Now, I want you to

  71. understand something very important here, because sometimes we get caught up, we get, who are we

  72. pleasing? We're concerned about, are we pleasing this person or that person? Or sometimes believers

  73. are saying, am I pleasing what the preacher thinks? Ultimately, it doesn't matter what anybody else

  74. thinks, but what God thinks. Because you know what? If you're pleasing God, you're going to be pleasing

  75. to the people who want to honor God. Those things tie directly. You know, our goal is not to please

  76. another person. Our goal is to please the Lord. And you know why the church here and the people,

  77. the believers at Thessalonica were off to a good start. They still had to continue to mature

  78. in their understanding and their application of truth for their life. You know, even though they'd

  79. endured many challenges and remained faithful, you know, I want you to understand that that's good,

  80. but you know what? Sometimes we can just be stubborn. No amens on that one? You know, sometimes instead of

  81. trusting God, we're just stubborn. Stubbornness doesn't please God. You can be stubborn about doing

  82. the right things, but I want you to understand God wants us to do it for the right reason.

  83. For the reason of honoring Him. You know, because of, if you're His child, you ought to understand the

  84. importance because He doesn't want us just to be strong-willed or stubborn. He wants us to walk

  85. pleasing to Him. There's a difference. Both of them may look similar on the outside, but on the inside,

  86. they're totally different things. Because one is about us and the other is about Him.

  87. There's a distinction that you will find here. And when you called upon Him to save you, and hopefully

  88. today you know that you're saved, because when you're saved, the Bible says the Spirit of God comes

  89. and dwells within you, you are a new creature in Christ. Things have changed. Your direction of life

  90. has changed. And we see here that Paul talks to them about their walk and how it ought to please

  91. God. Look there at verse 1 here, and it says that, have you received of us how ye ought to walk and to

  92. please God. To walk and to please God. You know, your walk needs to change in your maturity with Christ.

  93. Your walk ought to be different because, you know, what does it mean that you ought to walk?

  94. You know, this word here, walk in Scripture, simply refers to those things of life as you

  95. as you navigate life, as you go down the path of life. Because every believer ought to be concerned

  96. with their walk. And what our walk, what we ought to ask, is my walk pleasing God?

  97. Or is it pleasing myself? Because we can have a walk that's focused on us,

  98. or do we have a walk that's focused on God? Because notice, throughout the Bible, we find that this term

  99. walk refers to the life of an individual, not just a short-term, but a long-term picture.

  100. You know, you look in the book of Genesis, you find this come out very quickly in the book of Genesis.

  101. Genesis chapter 5, verse 24, it says, Enoch walked with God. Chapter 6, verse 9, and Noah walked with God.

    Genesis 5:24

  102. Chapter 17, verse 1, and God and the Lord appeared to Abraham and said unto him, I am the Almighty God,

  103. walk before me and be thou perfect. That's just a few examples that you find from Scripture.

  104. The reality of our walk, a walk suggests progress in a direction. That direction for a believer is to

  105. be a way that pleases God. You know, if you look in the book of Ephesians, you'll find this brought forth.

  106. You know, Paul, as he's describing to the church at Ephesus these things, notice what he says, that ye walk

  107. worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called. A worthy walk. You know, one that's pleasing to him is a worthy

  108. walk. And he contrasts this, and a little later in that same chapter, verse 17 says this,

  109. walk not as other Gentiles walk in the vanity of their mind. Paul says everybody is walking.

  110. Everybody has a course of life. The question is, which course are you on? Because your course entails

  111. how you think and process the things of life. Because notice here, he talks about the vanity of their mind,

  112. their self-focused mind. Their mind is upon what pleases themselves and not what pleases God.

  113. And he tells us in the next chapter, chapter 5 in Ephesians, verse 2, talks about there, he says,

  114. walk in love. You know, that's the believer. He said, our walk ought to be one that exemplifies love

  115. for God, love one for another. You know, the Bible talks about love for the brethren, those that are

  116. saved. You know, it's like a love for family and a love for those that are saved walk hand in hand

  117. because one might be your physical family, the other is your spiritual family. Because you've been

  118. born into God's family at the moment of salvation. You know, it's another misconception in people's minds

  119. that everybody's a child of God. Yes, everybody's made in the image of God, but not everybody's a child of God.

  120. It's a family you're born into.

  121. But every believer is to walk, to live their life, to please the Lord in all that we do in this life.

  122. You know, your first steps with the Lord and those that follow are by faith, trusting in what God has

  123. declared to be true. You know, we're saved by faith because we believe what God has declared about

  124. Jesus Christ and how he accomplished what we could not, how he took his sin upon us,

  125. died in our place, took our penalty, and rose again in victory.

  126. That takes faith to trust what God has declared, but it's also the instruction for this life.

  127. You know, a lot of times people get saved and it's kind of like they go, they walk a little bit and

  128. they just sort of stay static. Their spiritual growth just plateaus. You might ask, why does that happen?

  129. Well, it's because they're just coasting along. They're at a point where they might have got

  130. comfortable, you know, and we could just, in my own mind, I can do kind of both sides. I can have a foot in

  131. the world and a foot in the things of God and make it look good and we can go along and we can coast

  132. along. But I want you to understand, God doesn't save us to be static.

  133. Because notice, look at the end of verse one.

  134. So that you what? You abound

  135. what?

  136. More and more.

  137. Now, I don't think you have to be an English major to figure out that that's progress.

  138. That's motion.

  139. More and more means multiplied or growth. It means there's something to it. Now, I want you to

  140. understand there's a big theological term in the Bible that refers to this. It's called sanctification.

  141. And when it comes to the use of this term in the scripture, I think it's important for us to

  142. understand because I'm going to take a moment here and explain some things I think are important because

  143. when we hear the term sanctification, there's a lot of confusion about it because they think

  144. anytime it says sanctification, it means exactly the same thing. But in the scripture, there's different

  145. dynamics of sanctification. Because you can be sanctified, okay? I want you to understand when

  146. you're sanctified at the moment of salvation, you've been set apart. When something is sanctified,

  147. it means being set apart for service specifically to the Lord.

  148. You know, this same term is used in the Old Testament quite a bit.

  149. When they set up the temple and the tabernacle,

  150. all throughout you'll find that the items,

  151. the people, everything about it was sanctified.

  152. It was set apart

  153. for the Lord.

  154. All those instruments, the priests were sanctified. You can read that that was an important part,

  155. being set apart, separated under the Lord. All those things that were involved in it,

  156. that's that idea. It gives us that picture. You know, even the sacrifices were sanctified,

  157. set in place and directed by God's instruction.

  158. sanctification. I want you to understand, anytime you find the word sanctification,

  159. it has nothing to do with our opinion.

  160. It has everything to do with God.

  161. Because God is the one we're to be set apart

  162. to.

  163. As we get ready, you know, and it's good to think about this at the beginning of the year

  164. because you can ask, what am I going to be set apart to for God this year?

  165. How am I going to grow?

  166. But I want you to understand, the Bible reveals

  167. three things regarding this idea

  168. of separation or sanctification.

  169. Because when you call upon

  170. Him to save you,

  171. in that moment you're sanctified

  172. positionally.

  173. Because you've been

  174. set in place. The righteousness

  175. of Christ is put

  176. on.

  177. You are sanctified.

  178. You're accepted in

  179. the beloved.

  180. You've been set apart to God.

  181. You know,

  182. Ephesians 1 tells us this,

  183. it says,

  184. To the praise and glory of His grace,

  185. wherein He hath made us

  186. accepted

  187. in the beloved.

  188. You know, 1 Corinthians 1,

    1 Corinthians 1:30

  189. verse 30,

  190. Paul says this,

  191. But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus,

  192. of whom God

  193. is made unto us

  194. wisdom and righteousness

  195. and sanctification

  196. and redemption.

  197. You know, that's positionally.

  198. When you're saved,

  199. you are in Christ.

  200. You are set apart

  201. in Christ.

  202. That's positional.

  203. Now,

  204. there's nothing you can

  205. change about your position

  206. in Christ.

  207. But what we're talking about,

  208. what Paul's talking about here

  209. is what we're going to look at,

  210. you might say,

  211. is practical

  212. sanctification.

  213. Practical

  214. sanctification.

  215. This refers to God's will

  216. that you walk

  217. to please Him.

  218. This involves

  219. what you do

  220. after salvation

  221. in regards

  222. to serving

  223. the Lord,

  224. to love Him

  225. the way you ought

  226. to love Him,

  227. to do

  228. those things.

  229. And we see here

  230. that this working

  231. of the Holy Spirit

  232. in the life

  233. of every believer.

  234. Look at verse 3

  235. in our text there

  236. in chapter 4,

  237. 1 Thessalonians.

  238. He says this,

  239. For this is the will of God,

  240. even your what?

  241. Sanctification.

  242. God's will

  243. is for you

  244. to be sanctified.

  245. You know,

  246. I've had people ask me,

  247. well, preacher,

  248. how do you know God's will?

  249. Well,

  250. if you read the Bible,

  251. God usually reveals it to you.

  252. This is a big one,

  253. and he says,

  254. my will for you

  255. is that you be separated

  256. and your walk

  257. would be pleasing.

  258. That is the will

  259. of God

  260. for your life.

  261. That practical

  262. sanctification.

  263. You know,

  264. Philippians chapter 2,

    Philippians 2:15

  265. verse 15 talks about this.

  266. He says this,

  267. that ye may be blameless

  268. and harmless,

  269. the sons of God

  270. without rebuke.

  271. Now notice this,

  272. in the midst of a crooked

  273. and perverse nation

  274. among whom ye shine

  275. as lights in the world.

  276. What's it talking about there?

  277. It's talking about our walk.

  278. Our walk in the world

  279. ought to be different,

  280. ought to be what pleases God

  281. in the midst of a crooked

  282. and perverse nation,

  283. a people that are

  284. against God.

  285. That's practical

  286. sanctification.

  287. The Bible also speaks

  288. about what we're going

  289. to call perfect

  290. or complete

  291. sanctification.

  292. Because one day

  293. we're going to be

  294. transformed

  295. into his image.

  296. The Bible makes it clear.

  297. Romans chapter 8,

    Romans 8:29

  298. verse 29

  299. tells us this,

  300. for whom he did foreknow,

  301. he also did predestinate

  302. to be conformed

  303. to the image

  304. of his son,

  305. that he might be

  306. the firstborn

  307. among many brethren.

  308. I want you to understand,

  309. God has a plan.

  310. When you call upon him,

  311. you become his child.

  312. He says,

  313. one day

  314. you will be transformed

  315. completely.

  316. When we get to glory,

  317. all the problems

  318. of this life,

  319. the very presence

  320. of sin will be removed.

  321. All the issues

  322. we have here

  323. will be no longer.

  324. All those things

  325. are gone away.

  326. Now that we've established

  327. that,

  328. we can continue to see

  329. what the Lord

  330. is involved in

  331. when we're talking

  332. about mature faith

  333. is being practically

  334. set apart,

  335. sanctified for God.

  336. There's a practical element

  337. that is involved here.

  338. And you cannot mature

  339. and walk in a way

  340. that pleases the Lord

  341. if you don't first place

  342. the Word of God

  343. as your authority.

  344. You know,

  345. I want you to understand

  346. the importance of that

  347. because it's not,

  348. because really,

  349. honoring God

  350. is built upon

  351. a question of authority.

  352. Paul makes it clear.

  353. He instructed them

  354. in the Word of God.

  355. He talks about

  356. in chapter 1

  357. that they accepted

  358. the truth

  359. not as the Word of men

  360. but as the Word of God.

  361. It was built upon

  362. the truth

  363. of what God

  364. has declared.

  365. It was built upon

  366. what God had written,

  367. what God had put forth

  368. for us.

  369. Paul was not the authority.

  370. It was the Lord Jesus Christ.

  371. And he's the one

  372. who provided

  373. all that was required

  374. for us,

  375. you and I,

  376. to be saved.

  377. He is the authority

  378. that we look to.

  379. You know,

  380. think about what Jesus

  381. told his disciples

  382. as he was getting ready

  383. to go to the cross

  384. in John chapter 14,

    John 14:15

  385. verse 15.

  386. Jesus makes this declaration.

  387. He says,

  388. if you love me,

  389. keep my commandments.

  390. What's Jesus saying?

  391. He says,

  392. if you say you love me,

  393. there's authority.

  394. Because to keep

  395. his commandments

  396. saying,

  397. God,

  398. I'm giving you

  399. and what you've said

  400. authority.

  401. But you know,

  402. the big problem

  403. in our walk

  404. is authority.

  405. Authority is a big issue.

  406. Because we either

  407. look at the Word of God

  408. and we look at

  409. what God has declared

  410. and say,

  411. that's going to be

  412. my authority.

  413. That's going to be

  414. my measuring stick.

  415. That's going to be

  416. what I want to have.

  417. That's what I want

  418. to measure up to.

  419. This is what I want

  420. to abound towards.

  421. Or we're going to say

  422. I want to abound

  423. to what I want.

  424. That self-authority,

  425. the commandments

  426. of Jesus

  427. are for our

  428. sanctification.

  429. You know,

  430. notice

  431. what he tells them

  432. there in verse 1.

  433. I exhort you

  434. by the Lord Jesus

  435. that you have received

  436. of us how you ought

  437. to walk

  438. to please

  439. God.

  440. You know,

  441. think about verse 2.

  442. for you know

  443. what commandments

  444. we gave you

  445. by the Lord Jesus.

  446. You know,

  447. there's a lot

  448. of confusion today

  449. because I want you

  450. to understand

  451. Paul was an apostle

  452. but Paul's authority

  453. was rested

  454. in Christ Jesus.

  455. It did not rest

  456. in himself.

  457. Authority

  458. is of God

  459. and God

  460. puts people

  461. in different positions.

  462. You know,

  463. just like when God

  464. gave you parents,

  465. he puts your parents

  466. in authority

  467. over the kids.

  468. But ultimately,

  469. your parent

  470. is not the ultimate

  471. authority.

  472. The ultimate authority

  473. is God,

  474. the one who gave

  475. him that responsibility.

  476. Gave him that

  477. accountability.

  478. You know,

  479. his commands

  480. are there for us

  481. to know

  482. something important.

  483. That is to know

  484. what holiness

  485. looks like.

  486. And we're going

  487. to look here

  488. in the rest

  489. of this passage

  490. that we read,

  491. this dynamic

  492. of holiness.

  493. You know,

  494. look down at verse 7

  495. because verse 7

  496. here gives us

  497. the summary

  498. here of this.

  499. He says this,

  500. for God hath not

  501. called us

  502. unto uncleanness

  503. but unto holiness.

  504. You notice something

  505. there?

  506. There's not a whole

  507. lot of middle ground.

  508. It's either unclean

  509. or it's holy.

  510. But as people

  511. in our authority,

  512. we like to make

  513. a lot of mushy

  514. in the middle.

  515. Well,

  516. maybe,

  517. maybe not.

  518. I can get by

  519. with this

  520. and if nobody

  521. sees me,

  522. I can do this.

  523. And,

  524. you know,

  525. my friend over here

  526. says this is okay.

  527. We can go do that.

  528. But we need to

  529. understand

  530. He has not

  531. called us

  532. to walk

  533. in uncleanness

  534. but to walk

  535. in holiness.

  536. 1 Peter tells us

  537. this in 1 Peter

    1 Peter 1 chapter mention

  538. chapter 1.

  539. He says,

  540. But he which hath

  541. called you

  542. is holy,

  543. so be ye holy

  544. in all manner

  545. of conversation.

  546. That word conversation

  547. is another word

  548. for walk.

  549. It's all those

  550. things of life.

  551. It's what your life

  552. says,

  553. what your life

  554. declares.

  555. And notice

  556. his authority

  557. here.

  558. Peter's not saying,

  559. I'm Peter

  560. and you better

  561. be holy.

  562. What does Peter

  563. say?

  564. It is written,

  565. Be ye holy

  566. because for I

  567. am holy.

  568. Peter's quoting

  569. God's declaration.

  570. He says,

  571. Be ye holy

  572. because I am holy.

  573. Peter's not having

  574. his authority.

  575. He's using the

  576. word of God.

  577. But notice

  578. what this is.

  579. Now notice

  580. what he tells

  581. us here

  582. in verse 3.

  583. It says,

  584. For this is the

  585. will of God,

  586. even your

  587. sanctification,

  588. that ye should

  589. abstain from

  590. fornication,

  591. that every one

  592. of you should

  593. know how to

  594. possess his

  595. vessel in

  596. sanctification

  597. and honor.

  598. You know,

  599. notice here,

  600. your separation

  601. to God

  602. ties into

  603. moral dynamics.

  604. There's a

  605. moral element

  606. and that's

  607. oftentimes where

  608. we get into

  609. debate.

  610. Well,

  611. is that moral

  612. or not moral?

  613. You know,

  614. and we try to

  615. make things

  616. moral that

  617. are not

  618. and sometimes

  619. we think things

  620. that God has

  621. said and try

  622. to make it

  623. not moral.

  624. You say,

  625. what do you

  626. mean?

  627. Well,

  628. people call

  629. good evil.

  630. You know what

  631. they're saying?

  632. That which is

  633. moral is not.

  634. But notice

  635. he says,

  636. you should

  637. abstain from

  638. fornication.

  639. This is a

  640. word that many

  641. try to redefine

  642. today and

  643. diminish

  644. in application

  645. because the

  646. word has

  647. many parts

  648. you might

  649. say.

  650. The main

  651. meaning

  652. has to do

  653. with illicit

  654. behavior.

  655. It has to do

  656. with illicit

  657. behavior that

  658. is tied to

  659. idolatry.

  660. Now,

  661. I want you

  662. to understand

  663. as you read

  664. through the

  665. Old Testament

  666. you'll see

  667. one thing

  668. that pops

  669. out very

  670. clearly.

  671. Idolatry

  672. and immorality

  673. walk hand

  674. in hand.

  675. Idolatry

  676. and immorality

  677. fornication

  678. walk hand

  679. in hand.

  680. You know,

  681. the main

  682. meaning here

  683. has that

  684. illicit

  685. behavior

  686. and idolatry

  687. in play

  688. because physical

  689. pleasures

  690. have a direct

  691. tie to

  692. idolatry.

  693. You know,

  694. throughout the

  695. Old Testament

  696. we see that

  697. these things

  698. operate together

  699. side by side.

  700. You think about

  701. it's the reason

  702. for God's

  703. judgment

  704. on the land.

  705. When Israel

  706. went into

  707. the land

  708. coming out

  709. of Egypt

  710. God judged

  711. the Canaanites

  712. and the Hivites

  713. and the Jebusites

  714. and all them

  715. because of

  716. their idolatry

  717. and immorality

  718. their fornication.

  719. When we understand

  720. the tie

  721. is there

  722. and it's the

  723. reason for

  724. God's judgment

  725. but just as

  726. both the northern

  727. kingdom of Israel

  728. and Judah

  729. were both judged

  730. and put into

  731. captivity

  732. because of

  733. their practice

  734. of idolatry

  735. that involved

  736. fornication.

  737. Sexual

  738. immorality

  739. is built

  740. upon

  741. idolatry.

  742. The two

  743. walk hand

  744. in hand.

  745. You never

  746. see them

  747. separated

  748. from one

  749. another

  750. in the

  751. scripture

  752. because

  753. you say

  754. well what

  755. do you

  756. mean

  757. any time

  758. that you

  759. have

  760. what it

  761. is

  762. it's

  763. somebody

  764. setting up

  765. an idol

  766. to either

  767. making

  768. themselves

  769. the idol

  770. making

  771. themselves

  772. the

  773. authority

  774. or

  775. they're

  776. making

  777. something

  778. else

  779. the

  780. authority

  781. that

  782. gives

  783. them

  784. justification

  785. in doing

  786. what they

  787. want to do

  788. anyways.

  789. You know

  790. often times

  791. idolatry

  792. is just

  793. that

  794. it's

  795. making

  796. something

  797. in what

  798. we want

  799. it to

  800. be

  801. so we

  802. have

  803. authority

  804. that we

  805. say

  806. well look

  807. at that

  808. they want

  809. us to

  810. do

  811. this

  812. over here

  813. this

  814. religious

  815. thing

  816. to do

  817. and therefore

  818. we have

  819. an authority

  820. to say

  821. we can

  822. go do

  823. it.

  824. That's

  825. idolatry

  826. idolatry

  827. always

  828. takes us

  829. away

  830. and takes

  831. us

  832. into

  833. the

  834. dynamics

  835. of

  836. ourselves

  837. and we

  838. see here

  839. from the

  840. practices

  841. you'll see

  842. in the

  843. Old Testament

  844. it talks

  845. about the

  846. groves

  847. and the

  848. high

  849. places

  850. from the

  851. worship

  852. of Baal

  853. and

  854. Molech

  855. all of

  856. those

  857. involved

  858. prostitution

  859. it involved

  860. immorality

  861. fornication

  862. tied in

  863. now

  864. today

  865. we see

  866. the

  867. same

  868. occultic

  869. and

  870. demonic

  871. practices

  872. are tied

  873. to

  874. sensual

  875. pleasure

  876. it

  877. takes

  878. what

  879. God

  880. designed

  881. to

  882. operate

  883. within

  884. the

  885. restrain

  886. of

  887. marriage

  888. and

  889. exploits

  890. it

  891. in

  892. rebellion

  893. against

  894. the

  895. Lord

  896. it

  897. simply

  898. gives

  899. authority

  900. to

  901. yourself

  902. in

  903. matters

  904. of

  905. morality

  906. now

  907. I

  908. know

  909. that's

  910. a

  911. hard

  912. pill

  913. to

  914. swallow

  915. because

  916. it

  917. hits

  918. right

  919. at

  920. the

  921. core

  922. of

  923. who

  924. we

  925. are

  926. it

  927. hits

  928. right

  929. at

  930. the

  931. core

  932. of

  933. our

  934. sin

  935. nature

  936. our

  937. selfishness

  938. it

  939. hits

  940. directly

  941. in

  942. those

  943. things

  944. and

  945. Paul

  946. is

  947. telling

  948. them

  949. here

  950. you

  951. guys

  952. have

  953. to

  954. work

  955. through

  956. you

  957. have

  958. to

  959. deal

  960. with

  961. this

  962. you

  963. have

  964. to

  965. make

  966. sure

  967. that

  968. you're

  969. not

  970. being

  971. drawn

  972. away

  973. into

  974. it

  975. because

  976. people

  977. it

  978. gives

  979. authority

  980. to

  981. yourselves

  982. in

  983. that

  984. matter

  985. of

  986. morality

  987. that's

  988. the

  989. reason

  990. today

  991. you

  992. see

  993. a

  994. massive

  995. rise

  996. in

  997. things

  998. like

  999. cohabitation

  1000. and

  1001. adultery

  1002. and

  1003. unnatural

  1004. affections

  1005. this

  1006. idea

  1007. here

  1008. is

  1009. very

  1010. clear

  1011. the

  1012. command

  1013. here

  1014. is

  1015. to

  1016. abstain

  1017. to

  1018. hold

  1019. off

  1020. notice

  1021. here

  1022. it

  1023. says

  1024. that

  1025. you

  1026. abstain

  1027. from

  1028. fornication

  1029. now

  1030. I want

  1031. you to

  1032. understand

  1033. something

  1034. here

  1035. because

  1036. this

  1037. this

  1038. is

  1039. important

  1040. to

  1041. understand

  1042. because

  1043. he's

  1044. not

  1045. telling

  1046. them

  1047. that

  1048. these

  1049. temptations

  1050. aren't

  1051. going

  1052. to

  1053. be

  1054. present

  1055. he

  1056. says

  1057. you

  1058. have

  1059. a

  1060. decision

  1061. to

  1062. make

  1063. how

  1064. are

  1065. you

  1066. going

  1067. to

  1068. respond

  1069. to

  1070. them

  1071. because

  1072. to

  1073. abstain

  1074. means

  1075. I may

  1076. see

  1077. somebody

  1078. else

  1079. doing

  1080. it

  1081. but

  1082. I'm

  1083. going

  1084. to

  1085. choose

  1086. to

  1087. please

  1088. the

  1089. Lord

  1090. instead

  1091. but

  1092. you

  1093. know

  1094. what

  1095. oftentimes

  1096. peer

  1097. pressure

  1098. draws

  1099. us

  1100. into

  1101. doing

  1102. what

  1103. other

  1104. people

  1105. want

  1106. us

  1107. to

  1108. do

  1109. and

  1110. you

  1111. say

  1112. well

  1113. peer

  1114. pressure

  1115. didn't

  1116. know

  1117. you

  1118. really

  1119. wanted

  1120. that

  1121. the

  1122. other

  1123. peer

  1124. pressures

  1125. gave

  1126. you

  1127. permission

  1128. because

  1129. that's

  1130. our

  1131. problem

  1132. we're

  1133. looking

  1134. for

  1135. permission

  1136. to

  1137. do

  1138. what

  1139. we

  1140. wanted

  1141. !

  1142. to

  1143. do

  1144. anyways

  1145. notice

  1146. here

  1147. what

  1148. he's

  1149. talking

  1150. about

  1151. because

  1152. he

  1153. says

  1154. the

  1155. pressures

  1156. will

  1157. be

  1158. there

  1159. but

  1160. we

  1161. need

  1162. to

  1163. have

  1164. a

  1165. responsibility

  1166. of

  1167. how

  1168. we

  1169. act

  1170. or

  1171. think

  1172. look

  1173. at

  1174. verse

  1175. 4

  1176. that

  1177. every

  1178. one

  1179. of

  1180. you

  1181. should

  1182. know

  1183. how

  1184. to

  1185. possess

  1186. his

  1187. vessel

  1188. in

  1189. sanctification

  1190. and

  1191. honor

  1192. now

  1193. let me

  1194. sum

  1195. it

  1196. up

  1197. in

  1198. a

  1199. modern

  1200. term

  1201. for

  1202. it

  1203. it's

  1204. called

  1205. self

  1206. responsibility

  1207. every

  1208. person

  1209. has

  1210. a

  1211. responsibility

  1212. for

  1213. the

  1214. choices

  1215. !

  1216. that

  1217. they

  1218. make

  1219. now

  1220. often

  1221. times

  1222. that

  1223. doesn't

  1224. sit

  1225. very

  1226. good

  1227. does

  1228. it

  1229. you

  1230. know

  1231. we

  1232. don't

  1233. like

  1234. self

  1235. responsibility

  1236. you

  1237. know

  1238. we

  1239. live

  1240. in

  1241. a

  1242. generation

  1243. well

  1244. it's

  1245. not

  1246. my

  1247. fault

  1248. it's

  1249. their

  1250. fault

  1251. you

  1252. know

  1253. it's

  1254. always

  1255. somebody

  1256. else's

  1257. fault

  1258. but

  1259. you

  1260. know

  1261. what

  1262. God

  1263. says

  1264. it's

  1265. your

  1266. problem

  1267. it's

  1268. your

  1269. choice

  1270. what

  1271. are

  1272. you

  1273. going

  1274. to

  1275. do

  1276. their

  1277. own

  1278. body

  1279. including

  1280. their

  1281. thinking

  1282. and

  1283. their

  1284. actions

  1285. regarding

  1286. it

  1287. because

  1288. when

  1289. we

  1290. understand

  1291. the

  1292. nature

  1293. of

  1294. what's

  1295. transpiring

  1296. and to

  1297. whom

  1298. it

  1299. disregards

  1300. in

  1301. rebellion

  1302. against

  1303. the

  1304. commands

  1305. and

  1306. instructions

  1307. of

  1308. your

  1309. Savior

  1310. this

  1311. is

  1312. the

  1313. same

  1314. standard

  1315. for

  1316. everybody

  1317. morality

  1318. is

  1319. just

  1320. not

  1321. for

  1322. a

  1323. pastor

  1324. or

  1325. a

  1326. deacon

  1327. it's

  1328. for

  1329. every

  1330. believer

  1331. immorality

  1332. is a

  1333. problem

  1334. in

  1335. the

  1336. church

  1337. look

  1338. at

  1339. verse

  1340. 5

  1341. it

  1342. says

  1343. !

  1344. not

  1345. in

  1346. the

  1347. lust

  1348. of

  1349. concupiscence

  1350. even

  1351. as

  1352. the

  1353. Gentiles

  1354. which

  1355. know

  1356. not

  1357. God

  1358. concupiscence

  1359. wonderful

  1360. word

  1361. what's

  1362. it

  1363. mean

  1364. it's

  1365. the

  1366. coveting

  1367. of

  1368. carnal

  1369. things

  1370. or

  1371. an

  1372. irregular

  1373. appetite

  1374. for

  1375. worldly

  1376. good

  1377. an

  1378. inclination

  1379. for

  1380. unlawful

  1381. enjoyment

  1382. let me

  1383. put it

  1384. this

  1385. way

  1386. it

  1387. simply

  1388. means

  1389. that

  1390. we

  1391. have

  1392. a

  1393. desire

  1394. inside

  1395. to

  1396. go

  1397. against

  1398. what

  1399. we're

  1400. told

  1401. you

  1402. ever

  1403. notice

  1404. you

  1405. tell

  1406. somebody

  1407. not

  1408. to

  1409. do

  1410. something

  1411. what's

  1412. their

  1413. first

  1414. temptation

  1415. to

  1416. do

  1417. you

  1418. know

  1419. put

  1420. something

  1421. on

  1422. a

  1423. table

  1424. and

  1425. say

  1426. don't

  1427. there's

  1428. something

  1429. inside

  1430. then

  1431. that

  1432. says

  1433. I

  1434. want

  1435. to

  1436. go

  1437. touch

  1438. that

  1439. because

  1440. I

  1441. was

  1442. told

  1443. I

  1444. shouldn't

  1445. touch

  1446. it

  1447. that's

  1448. what

  1449. this

  1450. word

  1451. is

  1452. talking

  1453. about

  1454. that

  1455. lust

  1456. and

  1457. desire

  1458. to

  1459. do

  1460. that

  1461. which

  1462. you've

  1463. been

  1464. instructed

  1465. and

  1466. know

  1467. that

  1468. is

  1469. wrong

  1470. look

  1471. over to

  1472. James

    James 1 chapter mention

  1473. chapter

  1474. 1

  1475. for

  1476. a

  1477. moment

  1478. James

    James 1 chapter mention

  1479. chapter

  1480. 1

  1481. in

  1482. verse

  1483. 14

  1484. says

  1485. but

  1486. every

  1487. man

  1488. is

  1489. tempted

  1490. when

  1491. he

  1492. is

  1493. drawn

  1494. away

  1495. of

  1496. his

  1497. own

  1498. lust

  1499. and

  1500. enticed

  1501. then

  1502. when

  1503. lust

  1504. hath

  1505. conceived

  1506. it

  1507. bringeth

  1508. forth

  1509. sin

  1510. and

  1511. sin

  1512. what

  1513. is

  1514. unfinished

  1515. bringeth

  1516. forth

  1517. death

  1518. do

  1519. not

  1520. err

  1521. my

  1522. beloved

  1523. brother

  1524. we

  1525. have

  1526. an

  1527. inward

  1528. desire

  1529. to

  1530. do

  1531. exactly

  1532. opposite

  1533. of

  1534. what

  1535. we

  1536. ought

  1537. to

  1538. do

  1539. that's

  1540. that

  1541. sin

  1542. nature

  1543. it's

  1544. a

  1545. rebellious

  1546. nature

  1547. and

  1548. notice

  1549. what

  1550. he

  1551. says

  1552. that

  1553. we

  1554. were

  1555. operating

  1556. with

  1557. just

  1558. when

  1559. we

  1560. operate

  1561. with

  1562. just

  1563. our

  1564. own

  1565. desires

  1566. and

  1567. authority

  1568. it's

  1569. natural

  1570. it's

  1571. as

  1572. the

  1573. Gentiles

  1574. that

  1575. know

  1576. not

  1577. God

  1578. but

  1579. while

  1580. it

  1581. may

  1582. come

  1583. naturally

  1584. it

  1585. doesn't

  1586. mean

  1587. it's

  1588. justified

  1589. you know

  1590. that's

  1591. another

  1592. falsehood

  1593. today

  1594. well

  1595. it's

  1596. just

  1597. natural

  1598. to

  1599. me

  1600. just

  1601. because

  1602. something

  1603. feels

  1604. natural

  1605. doesn't

  1606. mean

  1607. it's

  1608. right

  1609. always

  1610. like

  1611. going

  1612. back

  1613. to

  1614. the

  1615. nursery

  1616. you

  1617. know

  1618. you

  1619. don't

  1620. have

  1621. to

  1622. teach

  1623. kids

  1624. to

  1625. take

  1626. toys

  1627. from

  1628. somebody

  1629. else

  1630. it's

  1631. natural

  1632. for

  1633. them

  1634. to

  1635. try

  1636. to

  1637. take

  1638. it

  1639. what

  1640. do

  1641. you

  1642. have

  1643. to

  1644. do

  1645. you

  1646. have

  1647. to

  1648. go

  1649. and

  1650. train

  1651. them

  1652. you

  1653. have

  1654. to

  1655. make

  1656. them

  1657. think

  1658. differently

  1659. about

  1660. it

  1661. because

  1662. just

  1663. because

  1664. it's

  1665. natural

  1666. doesn't

  1667. mean

  1668. it's

  1669. right

  1670. in

  1671. our

  1672. own

  1673. life

  1674. we

  1675. have

  1676. that

  1677. same

  1678. constant

  1679. dynamic

  1680. taking

  1681. place

  1682. that

  1683. passion

  1684. includes

  1685. a

  1686. desire

  1687. for

  1688. power

  1689. or

  1690. position

  1691. along

  1692. with

  1693. fleshly

  1694. desires

  1695. this

  1696. is

  1697. the

  1698. conflict

  1699. within

  1700. whether

  1701. we'll

  1702. submit

  1703. to

  1704. God's

  1705. authority

  1706. or

  1707. one

  1708. of

  1709. our

  1710. own

  1711. choosing

  1712. you

  1713. know

  1714. we

  1715. violate

  1716. the

  1717. direct

  1718. instructions

  1719. of

  1720. the

  1721. Lord

  1722. and

  1723. we're

  1724. placing

  1725. ourselves

  1726. in

  1727. authority

  1728. instead

  1729. of

  1730. him

  1731. you

  1732. know

  1733. Paul

  1734. here

  1735. is

  1736. talking

  1737. about

  1738. that

  1739. sanctification

  1740. is

  1741. maturing

  1742. in

  1743. our

  1744. walk

  1745. notice

  1746. here

  1747. in

  1748. verse

  1749. 7

  1750. it

  1751. says

  1752. for

  1753. God

  1754. hath

  1755. not

  1756. called

  1757. us

  1758. unto

  1759. cleanness

  1760. but

  1761. unto

  1762. holiness

  1763. notice

  1764. what he

  1765. says

  1766. here

  1767. in

  1768. verse

  1769. 8

  1770. he

  1771. therefore

  1772. that

  1773. despiseth

  1774. despiseth

  1775. not

  1776. man

  1777. but

  1778. God

  1779. who

  1780. hath

  1781. given

  1782. unto

  1783. us

  1784. his

  1785. holy

  1786. spirit

  1787. because

  1788. remember

  1789. who's

  1790. Paul

  1791. talking

  1792. to

  1793. here

  1794. he's

  1795. talking

  1796. to

  1797. believers

  1798. I want

  1799. you

  1800. to

  1801. understand

  1802. lost

  1803. people

  1804. do

  1805. what

  1806. lost

  1807. people

  1808. do

  1809. you

  1810. know

  1811. some

  1812. people

  1813. I can't

  1814. believe

  1815. somebody

  1816. would

  1817. do

  1818. that

  1819. or

  1820. commit

  1821. that

  1822. I'm

  1823. like

  1824. if

  1825. somebody

  1826. doesn't

  1827. know

  1828. the

  1829. Lord

  1830. and

  1831. they're

  1832. operating

  1833. in

  1834. their

  1835. own

  1836. dynamics

  1837. of

  1838. morality

  1839. gloves

  1840. are

  1841. off

  1842. I mean

  1843. they

  1844. could

  1845. do

  1846. all

  1847. sorts

  1848. of

  1849. atrocious

  1850. things

  1851. the reason

  1852. people

  1853. don't

  1854. like

  1855. that

  1856. is

  1857. because

  1858. it

  1859. reveals

  1860. who

  1861. they

  1862. are

  1863. well

  1864. if

  1865. that

  1866. person

  1867. can

  1868. do

  1869. that

  1870. what

  1871. does

  1872. it

  1873. say

  1874. about

  1875. me

  1876. and

  1877. that's

  1878. really

  1879. the

  1880. question

  1881. because

  1882. it's

  1883. our

  1884. sin

  1885. that

  1886. needs

  1887. to

  1888. be

  1889. dealt

  1890. with

  1891. it's

  1892. our

  1893. sin

  1894. and

  1895. that

  1896. choice

  1897. that

  1898. we

  1899. have

  1900. to

  1901. make

  1902. are

  1903. we're

  1904. going to

  1905. be

  1906. practically

  1907. sanctified

  1908. are we

  1909. going to

  1910. walk

  1911. with

  1912. him

  1913. are

  1914. you

  1915. going to

  1916. despise

  1917. the

  1918. Lord

  1919. that

  1920. saved

  1921. you

  1922. you

  1923. know

  1924. I

  1925. want

  1926. you

  1927. to

  1928. consider

  1929. that

  1930. dynamic

  1931. as we

  1932. get ready

  1933. to go

  1934. into

  1935. a

  1936. new

  1937. year

  1938. if

  1939. you

  1940. say

  1941. you're

  1942. a

  1943. believer

  1944. but

  1945. reject

  1946. the

  1947. Lord's

  1948. instructions

  1949. to be

  1950. holy

  1951. as

  1952. he

  1953. is

  1954. holy

  1955. the

  1956. Bible

  1957. says

  1958. you

  1959. despise

  1960. the

  1961. one

  1962. that

  1963. died

  1964. for

  1965. you

  1966. in

  1967. order

  1968. to

  1969. be

  1970. redeemed

  1971. the

  1972. one

  1973. who

  1974. took

  1975. care

  1976. of

  1977. your

  1978. sin

  1979. for

  1980. you

  1981. and

  1982. the

  1983. penalty

  1984. of

  1985. it

  1986. you

  1987. despise

  1988. you

  1989. reject

  1990. let me

  1991. give you

  1992. a

  1993. practical

  1994. example

  1995. to

  1996. change

  1997. the

  1998. dynamic

  1999. for a

  2000. moment

  2001. imagine

  2002. if you

  2003. were

  2004. drowning

  2005. you

  2006. there's

  2007. something

  2008. about a

  2009. drowning

  2010. person

  2011. when they

  2012. actually

  2013. hit

  2014. panic

  2015. mode

  2016. there's

  2017. nothing

  2018. they

  2019. can

  2020. do

  2021. to

  2022. save

  2023. themselves

  2024. you

  2025. know

  2026. drowning

  2027. is

  2028. an

  2029. interesting

  2030. thing

  2031. you

  2032. can

  2033. be

  2034. an

  2035. expert

  2036. swimmer

  2037. and

  2038. when

  2039. you

  2040. hit

  2041. the

  2042. mode

  2043. where

  2044. you're

  2045. literally

  2046. drowning

  2047. from

  2048. exhaustion

  2049. and

  2050. your

  2051. body

  2052. goes

  2053. into

  2054. panic

  2055. how

  2056. good

  2057. a

  2058. swimmer

  2059. you

  2060. are

  2061. becomes

  2062. irrelevant

  2063. once

  2064. you

  2065. hit

  2066. a

  2067. certain

  2068. point

  2069. they

  2070. tell

  2071. you

  2072. that

  2073. you

  2074. will

  2075. go

  2076. under

  2077. you

  2078. will

  2079. die

  2080. you

  2081. you're

  2082. unable

  2083. to

  2084. save

  2085. yourself

  2086. somebody

  2087. comes

  2088. out

  2089. rescues

  2090. you

  2091. pulls

  2092. you

  2093. to

  2094. shore

  2095. and

  2096. when

  2097. you

  2098. get

  2099. to

  2100. shore

  2101. you

  2102. spit

  2103. in

  2104. their

  2105. face

  2106. that's

  2107. the

  2108. picture

  2109. the

  2110. one

  2111. that

  2112. rescued

  2113. you

  2114. from

  2115. your

  2116. sin

  2117. when

  2118. you

  2119. despise

  2120. them

  2121. you

  2122. spit

  2123. in

  2124. his

  2125. face

  2126. that's

  2127. the

  2128. seriousness

  2129. of

  2130. the

  2131. matter

  2132. you

  2133. know

  2134. it

  2135. sounds

  2136. untenable

  2137. to

  2138. us

  2139. that

  2140. somebody

  2141. would

  2142. do

  2143. that

  2144. you

  2145. would

  2146. say

  2147. if

  2148. you

  2149. saw

  2150. that

  2151. happen

  2152. people

  2153. like

  2154. and

  2155. he

  2156. says

  2157. guys

  2158. be

  2159. careful

  2160. what

  2161. you're

  2162. thinking

  2163. how

  2164. you

  2165. respond

  2166. so

  2167. to

  2168. so

  2169. great

  2170. a

  2171. salvation

  2172. that

  2173. you've

  2174. been

  2175. given

  2176. that

  2177. your

  2178. walk

  2179. ought

  2180. to

  2181. be

  2182. a

  2183. walk

  2184. that

  2185. pleases

  2186. God

  2187. you

  2188. know

  2189. as we

  2190. get

  2191. ready

  2192. to

  2193. start

  2194. a

  2195. new

  2196. year

  2197. it's

  2198. a

  2199. new

  2200. year

  2201. a

  2202. new

  2203. opportunity

  2204. there's

  2205. something

  2206. about

  2207. that

  2208. change

  2209. that

  2210. provides

  2211. opportunity

  2212. in our

  2213. mind

  2214. to say

  2215. there's

  2216. an

  2217. opportunity

  2218. for

  2219. something

  2220. new

  2221. something

  2222. different

  2223. you know

  2224. there's

  2225. no

  2226. greater

  2227. way

  2228. or

  2229. better

  2230. opportunity

  2231. than

  2232. to

  2233. get

  2234. right

  2235. and

  2236. to

  2237. serve

  2238. the

  2239. Lord

  2240. in

  2241. the

  2242. year

  2243. to

  2244. come

  2245. to

  2246. understand

  2247. that

  2248. he

  2249. hath

  2250. not

  2251. called

  2252. us

  2253. to

  2254. uncleanness

  2255. but

  2256. unto

  2257. holiness

  2258. it

  2259. doesn't

  2260. matter

  2261. what

  2262. your

  2263. 20

  2264. 25

  2265. look

  2266. like

  2267. that

  2268. is

  2269. behind

  2270. us

  2271. but

  2272. I

  2273. want

  2274. to

  2275. encourage

  2276. you

  2277. to

  2278. make

  2279. a

  2280. choice

  2281. to

  2282. say

  2283. I

  2284. want

  2285. holiness

  2286. in

  2287. the

  2288. year

  2289. to

  2290. come

  2291. are

  2292. you

  2293. ready

  2294. for

  2295. that

  2296. will

  2297. you

  2298. serve

  2299. the

  2300. Lord

  2301. or

  2302. will

  2303. you

  2304. reject

  2305. him

  2306. you

  2307. know

  2308. it

  2309. begins

  2310. at

  2311. the

  2312. moment

  2313. of

  2314. salvation

  2315. you

  2316. have

  2317. a

  2318. choice

  2319. to

  2320. make

  2321. when

  2322. it

  2323. comes

  2324. to

  2325. your

  2326. sin

  2327. are

  2328. you

  2329. going

  2330. to

  2331. accept

  2332. the

  2333. one

  2334. that

  2335. has

  2336. provided

  2337. a

  2338. way

  2339. for

  2340. you

  2341. to

  2342. be

  2343. redeemed

  2344. that

  2345. happens

  2346. in

  2347. a

  2348. moment

  2349. when

  2350. we

  2351. recognize

  2352. we're

  2353. a

  2354. sinner

  2355. and

  2356. need

  2357. a

  2358. savior

  2359. if

  2360. there's

  2361. never

  2362. been

  2363. a

  2364. time

  2365. and

  2366. a

  2367. but

  2368. if

  2369. you

  2370. can

  2371. look

  2372. back

  2373. and

  2374. say

  2375. I

  2376. know

  2377. this

  2378. is

  2379. the

  2380. time

  2381. and

  2382. place

  2383. I

  2384. called

  2385. upon

  2386. the

  2387. Lord

  2388. to

  2389. save

  2390. me

  2391. I

  2392. want

  2393. to

  2394. encourage

  2395. you

  2396. to

  2397. consider

  2398. what

  2399. are you

  2400. going

  2401. to do

  2402. to

  2403. move

  2404. forward

  2405. to

  2406. abound

  2407. more

  2408. and

  2409. more

  2410. in

  2411. holiness

  2412. in

  2413. the

  2414. year

  2415. to

  2416. come

  2417. as

  2418. heads

  2419. are

  2420. bowed

  2421. and

  2422. eyes

  2423. are

  2424. closed

  2425. this

  2426. morning

  2427. you

  2428. know

  2429. what

  2430. about

  2431. you

  2432. today

  2433. what

  2434. are

  2435. you

  2436. doing

  2437. with

  2438. what

  2439. Christ

  2440. has

  2441. done

  2442. for

  2443. you

  2444. how

  2445. do

  2446. you

  2447. want

  2448. to

  2449. start

  2450. out

  2451. a

  2452. new

  2453. year

  2454. because

  2455. you

  2456. don't

  2457. have

  2458. to

  2459. wait

  2460. for

  2461. a few

  2462. days

  2463. for

  2464. a

  2465. new

  2466. year

  2467. it

  2468. can

  2469. begin

  2470. right

  2471. now

  2472. what

  2473. about

  2474. you

  2475. today

  2476. as

  2477. the

  2478. piano

  2479. plays

  2480. what

  2481. about

  2482. you

  2483. what

  2484. decision

  2485. are

  2486. you

  2487. going

  2488. to

  2489. make

  2490. what

  2491. your

  2492. walk

  2493. going

  2494. to

  2495. look

  2496. like
