  1. Good morning everybody.

  2. Let's begin with a word of prayer.

  3. Lord, thank you for this morning and thank you for this portion of your family that we get to gather with and worship with and just encourage each other.

  4. And thank you for your son and what he did for us, and thank you for all the fathers here on this day that we recognize them and all the examples we have in our lives.

  5. And it's in your son's name we pray.

  6. Amen, amen.

  7. My God and I go in the field together.

  8. We walk and talk as good friends shouldn't do.

  9. We clasp our hands, our voices ring with laughter.

  10. My God and I walk through the meadows, you we clasp our hands, our voices ring with laughter.

  11. My God and I walk through the meadows.

  12. You, my God, and I will go for a.

  13. Together, we'll go for it together.

  14. We'll walk and talk.

  15. As good friends shouldn't do this earth will pass and we'll become trifles.

  16. But, God and I Will go unendingly.

  17. This earth will pass and with it come the trifles, but God and I will go unendingly.

  18. Father, we love you, we worship and adore you.

  19. Glorify thy name in all the earth.

  20. Glorify thy name, glorify thy name, glorify thy name in all name.

  21. Glorify thy name in all the earth, earth, earth, earth.

  22. Jesus, we love you, we worship and adore you.

  23. Glorify thy name in all the earth.

  24. Glorify thy name, glorify thy name.

  25. Glorify thy name In all the earth.

  26. Spirit, we love you, we worship and adore you.

  27. Glorify thy name in all the earth.

  28. Glorify thy name, glorify thy name.

  29. Glorify thy name in all the earth.

  30. All my words fall short.

  31. I've got nothing new.

  32. How could I express All my gratitude?

  33. I could sing these songs as I often do.

  34. But every song must end and you never do so.

  35. I throw up my hands and praise you.

  36. Again and again is a hallelujah, hallelujah, and I know it's not much, but I'm nothing else fit for a king, except for a heart singing hallelujah, hallelujah, singing Alleluia, alleluia.

  37. I've got one response.

  38. I've got just one move, with my arms stretched wide.

  39. I will worship you, so I throw up my hands and praise you again and again, cause all that I have is a hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, and I know it's not much, but I'm nothing else fit for a king, except for a heart singing hallelujah, hallelujah.

  40. Come on my soul.

  41. Oh, don't you get shy of me, lift up your song, cause you've got a lion inside of those lungs, get up and praise the Lord.

  42. Come on my soul, oh don't you get shy Shia me.

  43. Lift up your song, cause you've got a lion inside of those lungs.

  44. Get up and praise the Lord, cause you've got a lion inside of those lungs.

  45. Get up and praise the Lord.

  46. Come on my soul, oh, don't you get shy of me, lift up your song Cause you've got a lion inside of those lungs, get up and praise the Lord.

  47. So I throw up my hands and praise you again and again, cause all that I have is a hallelujah, hallelujah, and I know it's not much, but I'm nothing else fit for a king heart singing Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.

  48. Father, we do thank you for that amazing grace that saves us.

  49. We thank you for your love for us.

  50. We thank you for being our Heavenly Father and help us, as we open our eyes to your word, that we also open our hearts, and we pray for your spirit to work within us and change us to be more like you, to be the image bearers you created us to be In Jesus' name, and all God's people said amen.

  51. Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there.

  52. There are a lot of weird jobs out there.

  53. You start looking for jobs and you think, man, there are some weird jobs.

  54. And so I started looking at just some jobs.

  55. It's crazy what you can do to make a living.

  56. So maybe we'll play a game of real job, fake job as we look at some of these Sensory scientist.

  57. Have you heard of a sensory scientist?

  58. That's a real job, and what they do is they're a group of people that just sit around and test out products to see how they affect your senses and I'm thinking first I said that's ridiculous Sensory scientists.

  59. For example, you can be an odor checker.

  60. That's a real job.

  61. You can check for odors and see how things smell and all types of things like that.

  62. So you can be an odor checker, you can be a face feeler.

  63. That's a real job.

  64. You're a face feeler, and so they put shaving cream and shave you and then somebody comes in and fills your face to see what effects it has on it.

  65. I don't know if I want to be a face feeler.

  66. That sort of creeps me out.

  67. You know they put lotion on your face and then you can be paid up to $52,000 to $62,000 a year to feel people's faces all day.

  68. Huh, it is a full-time position, I guess I don't know.

  69. But a face feeler?

  70. There's a paper towel sniffer.

  71. There's a job called paper towel sniffer and I've never sniffed a paper towel in my life.

  72. I just tear it off and wipe up whatever I'm going to wipe up.

  73. But they hire people this is all a part of being a sensory scientist to sniff paper towels, to sniff napkins, to sniff your Kleenex I guess hopefully new Kleenex to see what it smells like.

  74. But those are, those are some real jobs.

  75. There's professional sleepers.

  76. I think I would like this job.

  77. Yes, professional sleepers.

  78. You can get paid up to $25 an hour to sleep and then you write up a report on how you slept and the companies that hire this are mattress companies.

  79. Hotel chains hire this, where you just travel around and sleep and you get up and write a report on how comfortable their beds are.

  80. I may apply for that one.

  81. That could be my retirement gig.

  82. Professional sleepers and you get up and write a report on how comfortable their beds are.

  83. I may apply for that one.

  84. That could be my retirement gig.

  85. Professional sleeper there's all types of weird jobs out there.

  86. You can get paid to stand in queues.

  87. It's called professional queuer or professional line stander, so you can pay somebody to stand in the line at the BMV or at the ticket office.

  88. If you want to get a concert ticket or whatever, you pay somebody to stand in the line at the BMV or at the ticket office.

  89. You know, if you want to get a concert ticket or whatever, you pay somebody to stand in line and they make up to $25 an hour.

  90. It's crazy, the jobs out there.

  91. And then there's the snake milker.

  92. Now, when I read about the snake milker, I thought that was utterly ridiculous For my next trick.

  93. But anyway, you know it's just crazy.

  94. But I thought there's Mark in here.

  95. Mark said to be at the first service service to be a snake milker, you'd have to have small hands, but anyway.

  96. So a professional snake milker, that's ridiculous.

  97. But then I understood what a snake.

  98. How many of you know what a snake milker is?

  99. Yeah, what they do?

  100. You see him, he's taking that snake and he's going to put that open that snake's mouth and put it on that glass and he's going to milk the venom out of it and then they take the venom and they test the venom to use to find an antidote.

  101. So it's really a very important job that saves a lot of lives.

  102. It's also one of the most dangerous jobs.

  103. I mean, you look at all of these jobs and when you say paper towel sniffer, that sounds absurd.

  104. But when you understand what they do, it's probably good to have a face feeler To make sure that the shaving cream you're using is not going to break you out, make sure that the shaving cream you're using is not going to break you out.

  105. So it's probably good to have somebody sleep on a mattress to see if the mattress is comfortable or not.

  106. So once I understood the purpose behind the job, the job even though it sounded ridiculous, made sense.

  107. I would like to have a job as a professional ice cream taster, and I think that would be a good job to have.

  108. But there's and they do have sensory scientists.

  109. One of the jobs they do is they taste food and then write reports about whether it tastes good or not.

  110. There's a lot of ridiculous jobs out there that, on the surface, sounds ridiculous when it comes to Christians and the Holy Spirit.

  111. There's a lot of times when we hear about the Holy Spirit because we don't understand the purpose of the Holy Spirit.

  112. We sort of look at the Holy Spirit like a snake milker.

  113. Well, what does he do?

  114. That's ridiculous.

  115. And so therefore, because even as Christians, we sort of ignore the holy spirit, I don't understand a whole lot about the holy spirit.

  116. We don't.

  117. We sort of look at it like we do some of these weird jobs.

  118. It's just sort of yeah, yeah, we sing, we just sang about it.

  119. Spirit, we love you, we were, but we really don't understand.

  120. And so, because we don't understand, we're going to take the next two or three weeks and talk a little bit about the Holy Spirit.

  121. We're not going to get in depth because we don't have time really in this setting to do it, but we'll just have a look at the Holy Spirit.

  122. I remember back in the spring.

  123. I said before we get out, before I get out of here, we were looking at the Holy Spirit.

  124. So we're going to do that and then maybe next year sometime, if I'm teaching the class, we'll go in depth.

  125. But the Holy Spirit, we sort of look at him like what's he do and what's his purpose, sort of like we look at he sort of has a weird job, what's he supposed to do?

  126. And so we want to look at that this morning, begin looking at that in the next two or three weeks.

  127. We're going to do that, and first I want us to look at who the Holy Spirit is and then we'll look a little bit about what he does.

  128. But who is the Holy Spirit and what does he do?

  129. First thing, we need to understand that the Holy Spirit is not an?

  130. It, and a lot of times we think of the Holy Spirit as some sort of ghost, some sort of you know, some sort of force.

  131. We think of the Holy Spirit like we think of Star Wars may the force be with you or some sort of impersonal thing.

  132. Some of us think of the Holy Spirit sort of like electricity or some sort of power, but there's really, you know he's just some sort of impersonal power.

  133. But the Bible says the Holy Spirit is a person, that the Holy Spirit has a personality.

  134. In fact, all through scripture the Holy Spirit, he's referred to as a he.

  135. Notice what it says there.

  136. It says when the advocate comes and we'll talk about that next week because we're going to look a little bit at that verse whom I will send to the Father?

  137. The Spirit of truth, who goes out from the Father, he circle that word, he, the Spirit of truth, he, he's always referred to in a personal pronoun.

  138. He will testify.

  139. Only a person can testify, only an intelligent being can testify.

  140. I've never had a stick testify to me yet.

  141. And all through Scripture we talk about what the Holy Spirit does.

  142. He's referred to as a he.

  143. So I want us to first understand that the Holy Spirit is a person.

  144. You say, why is that such a big deal?

  145. It's a big deal because I can relate to someone who's a person.

  146. I can't relate, I can't sit down and have a conversation with a stick.

  147. But the Holy Spirit, which we will find out later, lives in every baptized believer in this room.

  148. He lives in me and I can have a relationship with him If you are a baptized believer, god lives within you.

  149. The Holy Spirit lives within you and you say, well, what does he do and how do I know I have him.

  150. We'll talk about how you know you have him if not next week, the next week.

  151. But the Holy Spirit is living within you if you believe Scripture, and he's a he, he's a person and that's important because I can relate to him.

  152. But the Holy Spirit is also God.

  153. The Holy Spirit is part of what we call the Godhead.

  154. The Bible talks about God being a triune God.

  155. That word triune means three in one.

  156. He's three distinct personalities, but there's only one God.

  157. There's God the Father, there's God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

  158. And we've tried in the past, tried to explain the Trinity.

  159. That's what we call it, the Trinity that there's this three, there's one God, but there are three and we have, you know, we've talked people use.

  160. Well, he's sort of like a clover.

  161. It's one clover but there's three different leaves and they're all connected.

  162. It's like water.

  163. It's water and then you freeze it.

  164. It's ice, but it's still the same water.

  165. And then you boil it and it goes into steam, but it's still the same water.

  166. And all of those illustrations fall short of the Trinity.

  167. I'm just going to tell you I'm not sure I can explain to you how there's God the Father, there's God the Son, jesus, and there's God the Holy Spirit, and yet there's only one God.

  168. I'm not smart, but I'm smart enough to do that.

  169. But I also know this I don't want to worship a God I can explain.

  170. God is so infinitely greater that my finite mind cannot comprehend completely this whole concept that there's the Father and then there was God, who came in the flesh and walked on the earth, and then there's this God, the Holy Spirit, that lives within me.

  171. I can't comprehend that, but all I know is Scripture says that the Spirit is God.

  172. Here's one example.

  173. It says Ananias and Sapphira, after they lied to God, peter said how was it that Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit?

  174. You didn't lie to people, you lied to God.

  175. You lied to the Holy Spirit, which is God.

  176. Does that make sense?

  177. The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit is eternal.

  178. He says in Hebrews 9, 14, that with the blood, the will, the blood of Christ to through the eternal spirit over him.

  179. God is the Holy Spirit, is God.

  180. He has the qualities of God.

  181. He's always been here.

  182. It says that he's all knowing.

  183. And we're just looking at two of scores of scriptures.

  184. But the spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

  185. In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the spirit of God.

  186. God is, the spirit is eternal, just like God is eternal.

  187. I'm just trying to, in a brief, very elementary way, let you know that this Holy Spirit that we sing about is a person and he is God.

  188. He's not some ghosts flying around.

  189. Okay, that's just very briefly who he is.

  190. And you're saying, okay, woody, he's God and he's a person, and he lives in me, if I'm a baptized believer.

  191. But what does he do?

  192. What's he doing?

  193. And again, we're just going to look at a few things this morning about what the Holy Spirit is doing in your life.

  194. Okay, we're just going to look at a few things.

  195. Number one he guides us into all truth.

  196. He guides us into all truth.

  197. He guides us into all truth.

  198. How many of you have ever used an atlas?

  199. How many of you have never used an atlas?

  200. All the young people, guyler?

  201. Do you never use an atlas?

  202. Can you read a map?

  203. You probably not.

  204. Can't read a map?

  205. You probably not can't read a map.

  206. How many of you have never used Waze?

  207. Oh, the old people will raise their hand.

  208. How many of you don't even know what Waze is?

  209. How many of you use Waze?

  210. How many of you use Google Maps?

  211. Oh yeah, everybody uses Google Maps.

  212. You know the thing?

  213. I use Waze.

  214. I like Waze.

  215. I mean, you use Google Maps.

  216. Everybody uses Google Maps.

  217. You know the thing?

  218. I use Waze.

  219. I like Waze because it tells you where the police are.

  220. Not that I need to know where the police are, but it does tell you where the police are.

  221. But I've also gotten in trouble with Waze because sometimes when you type in Waze, he sends you down these dirt roads.

  222. A while back, amy and I were going to McConnellsville and we're going down 78.

  223. And he said to turn on this dirt road and we drove down a dirt road for seven miles and then got back on 78.

  224. Yeah, so even huh, it must have been a shortcut, I don't know, but I mean I was so far back on a dirt road, I was hearing some banjo music, it was getting me up and it was like, man, I don't know what's going on.

  225. See, the young people don't even know that one what that reference is.

  226. Don't worry, josh, will be using some young references here soon, but anyway, you go and do that.

  227. The best way, though, to get someplace I've never been before is a guide, someone who's been here and said hey, here, let's go follow me.

  228. Let's go down here and let's turn here.

  229. The Holy Spirit is our guide.

  230. You say, what does he do?

  231. He guides you into all truth.

  232. When you say, man, I don't know what to do, how should I handle this situation, the Holy Spirit will guide you and say here's what you need to do.

  233. You need to forgive that person, you need to do good.

  234. The Holy Spirit guides us and you say how does he do that?

  235. Well, the number one way he does that is through the Word, because truth is found in the Word.

  236. That's why I need to be in the Word, be a student of the Word.

  237. But I also believe the Holy Spirit guides us through putting people in our lives to sort of either be a roadblock or show us what to do.

  238. I think the Holy Spirit can guide us by putting I mean Satan can put ideas in my mind.

  239. We call that temptation.

  240. If Satan can put ideas in my mind, surely God can put ideas in my mind.

  241. That's inspiration.

  242. But let me tell you something the Holy Spirit's never going to put something in your mind that goes against the word.

  243. The Holy Spirit's never going to tell you go out and cheat on your spouse, because I've had Christians say well, god just wants me to be.

  244. He told me to do that.

  245. No, god didn't.

  246. The Holy Spirit, though, guides you.

  247. If you learn to listen to him and know how to relate to him, he will guide you into all truth when it comes to your relationships, when it comes to dealing with sin in your life.

  248. That's what he does.

  249. That's what he's doing in your life, but yet many of us, as Christians, are saying well, I don't know what he does.

  250. How do I know he's doing it?

  251. That's next week, or two weeks, because next week we may look at his purpose.

  252. But that's what he does.

  253. He helps us in our fight against sin.

  254. Every one of us is fighting against sin.

  255. We understand that.

  256. The apostle Paul says in Romans 8, for if you live according to the flesh, you will die.

  257. Everybody in this room has two.

  258. You got a battle going on between two enemies.

  259. There's the flesh part of me.

  260. The flesh part of me is the part of me that wants to take the easy way out.

  261. The flesh part of me is the part of me that wants to knock somebody up beside the head when they do something wrong.

  262. The flesh part of me is all about what pleases me.

  263. I don't care what God says.

  264. If it pleases me I'm going to do it, I don't care who it hurts or who I use.

  265. That's the flesh part of me and I battle with that.

  266. But there's also the spirit part of me that wants to do what God, that wants to please God and every one of you.

  267. Even as a Christian, you still have to battle that flesh and that spirit.

  268. Hopefully, as a Christian, we're growing more and more, but every one of us has that battle going on every day, every time I make a decision.

  269. Here's the flesh and here's the spirit.

  270. There's the spiritual side of me.

  271. And so Paul says for if you live according to the flesh, you will die.

  272. If you live your life saying whatever pleases me, whatever the easy way is, whatever makes me, whatever you're going to die, he says.

  273. But if, by the spirit, you put to death the deep misdeeds of the body and I want you to understand that phrase put to death doesn't mean you put him to death.

  274. Bang, you're dead and it's over with the term.

  275. The verb tense there is you continually put to death the misdeeds of your body, because every day when you get up you are tempted to sin, and so am I.

  276. And so he says by the Spirit we need to put to death Every time I want to go out and do something wrong.

  277. The Spirit will help me fight against that sin.

  278. How does he do it?

  279. I'm not sure.

  280. Sometimes there's people in my life that say, hey, you're making a dumb decision.

  281. He has sent those people into my life.

  282. So again, it's through the Word.

  283. Again, I don't know.

  284. All I know is that the Bible says that the Spirit lives in you and one of the things he does is he guides you into truth, where you can know what truth is, and he will help you fight against sin if you let Him.

  285. Does that make sense?

  286. God is living in you to help you fight against sin, so you can be what he saved you to be and created you to be, which is the image bearer of God, so that when people see you, they become conscious of God's love for them and God's grace and God's mercy.

  287. That's why we were created, that's why we're here and that's why some of us feel like our life is unfulfilled, because we live by the flesh and I just don't know what God wants me to do with my life.

  288. I do glorify him.

  289. That's our purpose.

  290. He helps us in our struggles.

  291. Later, in Romans 8, he talks about this.

  292. Let me ask you a question have you ever been so broken hearted?

  293. Have you ever been so brokenhearted?

  294. Have you ever been so angry at God?

  295. Maybe you prayed for somebody to live and they didn't.

  296. Have you ever been so upset?

  297. Have you ever been so confused about what to do?

  298. Have you ever been so shameful, so ashamed because you let somebody down, you let God down that you didn't even want to talk to God?

  299. Have you ever been there?

  300. Yep, there are times when I am so angry at God I don't even want to talk to Him.

  301. There are times that I'm so angry at you I don't even want to talk to Him.

  302. There are times that I'm so angry at you I don't want to talk to God.

  303. There are times I am so angry at myself and so ashamed I don't even want to talk to God.

  304. There are times I'm just so tired I don't want to talk to God.

  305. And when I'm there, the Holy Spirit that lives in me is helping me fight those struggles, because here's what God says.

  306. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.

  307. We do not know what we ought to pray.

  308. You ever been there, god?

  309. I don't even know what to pray.

  310. I don't know what to pray about my mother-in-law.

  311. I don't know what to pray about my mom.

  312. I just don't know.

  313. I don't know.

  314. You don't even know what to pray.

  315. But the Spirit himself intercedes for us through worldless groans and he searches our hearts.

  316. I want you to notice the Spirit does two things.

  317. Number one he helps us.

  318. See that there he says the Spirit helps us in our weakness.

  319. That word help means he picks up the load and helps us carry it.

  320. That's what it literally means.

  321. He helps carry the load.

  322. It's a whole lot easier to carry a load when somebody's helping me.

  323. So when I'm struggling and I'm thinking I don't even know how I'm going to get through this.

  324. I am so sick I don't even know how I'm going to get through this.

  325. I am so sick I don't even know if I want to live.

  326. The Spirit says come on, let's go, let's go.

  327. And then he intercedes for us when I'm at the point where I am so angry, so heartbroken that I just I don't even know what to say, and I'm just groaning and oh, the Holy Spirit takes those groans up to God and says God, here's what Woody means.

  328. He speaks on my behalf.

  329. That's what the Holy Spirit does, that's what he's doing for us, and we don't even realize it.

  330. He's real, he's alive and he's helping us there.

  331. He's helping us do that.

  332. What did I do with the clicker?

  333. All right, that's what he does.

  334. He's helping us do that.

  335. What did I do with the clicker?

  336. All right, that's what he does.

  337. A couple of things, real quickly, all right, he helps us carry the load.

  338. He intercedes for us.

  339. Everybody got those.

  340. There'll be a test afterwards.

  341. Here's another thing he helps me become like Jesus.

  342. He helps me become like Jesus.

  343. You've heard me say before that Jesus didn't die on the cross just so you could go to heaven.

  344. He didn't die on the cross just so you could go to heaven.

  345. He died on the cross to make us clean us up, so we could be what we were created to be.

  346. When God created us, when God created Adam and Eve.

  347. He created us in his image, to be his image bearers.

  348. An image is when I look at the we've talked about this before when I look at a statue of Abraham Lincoln, who do I think?

  349. Of Abraham Lincoln?

  350. And so when people look at you as an image of God, you know who they should think of.

  351. When they see your actions and your words and the way you treat them.

  352. At Bob Evans, they should look at you and they should see God.

  353. We are called to be image bearers of God.

  354. We are called to glorify God so that all of creation sees the way we act, speak and live.

  355. And they say but because of our sinfulness, that image was marred and so Jesus died to make us holy.

  356. In fact, when you came out of that water, not only did he wash away your sins, jesus said hey, you're holy now.

  357. You are cleaned up.

  358. You're holy Now.

  359. I don't always act holy, but in Christ God looks at me, he sees me as perfect, even though I'm still struggling and I'm broken.

  360. But then God says I've declared you holy.

  361. Now that I've declared you holy, go out there and be holy.

  362. Go out there and be what I created you to be.

  363. And you say I can't do it.

  364. And God says I know you can't do it, but so I'll tell you what the Holy Spirit that lives in you, he's going to live in you and he's going to start developing within you what God calls the fruit of the Spirit, the fruit which comes from the Spirit.

  365. Before this he talks about the works of the flesh, and if you want to turn to Galatians 5 and read before, it's not pretty what the works of the flesh is Division and hatred and blah, blah, blah.

  366. It's.

  367. We live in that world.

  368. But he says here's what the Holy Spirit is developing in you.

  369. The Holy Spirit is developing in you love and joy and peace and patience and kindness and goodness and faithfulness and gentleness and self-control.

  370. The Holy Spirit works within you to help you learn to love like Jesus.

  371. Now, the bad news is this the only way I can learn to love like Jesus is to be around unlovable people.

  372. The only way I can learn to love like Jesus is to have Judas wash my feet.

  373. The only way I can learn patience is to be put into trials.

  374. The only way I can learn to be good and kind is to be put around a bunch of people that have needs.

  375. So that person that's in your life that's driving you nuts isn't there by accident.

  376. The Holy Spirit may very well have put that person there so that you could.

  377. Why are you looking at me young like that?

  378. Don't look at your wife like that?

  379. The person in your life that's God.

  380. Does that make sense?

  381. The Holy Spirit Works within you and I don't know how I do know this.

  382. I do think that I'm a little bit more like Jesus this year than I was 10 years ago.

  383. Now, some of that may be I'm just too old to not care.

  384. But the Holy Spirit helps us become like Jesus.

  385. He's working within your heart right now to help you learn to love like Jesus and serve like Jesus.

  386. So those people that you hate could be blessings from God, because that's what the Holy Spirit does.

  387. He gives a spiritual gift so we can fulfill our mission.

  388. He gifts us that could be a gift of service.

  389. We learn how to serve.

  390. We learn how to be left selfish.

  391. It could be a gift of music.

  392. It could be a gift of teaching kids.

  393. It could be a gift of music.

  394. It could be a gift of teaching kids.

  395. It could be a gift of encouraging.

  396. It could be a gift of praying.

  397. But the Holy Spirit places gives us gifts that we can use to glorify the Father and serve others.

  398. Does that make sense?

  399. Does that make sense?

  400. I truly believe with all my heart that what little gift I have of speaking comes from God.

  401. Because I was so shy and backward in school that I couldn't look anybody in the eye.

  402. I flunked speech, and you know why, after listening to me every Sunday.

  403. But whatever, there's no way I should be standing up here speaking.

  404. But I truly believe it's just a gift that God gave me For others.

  405. That gift is serving.

  406. There's people who just naturally, who just have great servant hearts.

  407. And I'm telling you, I don't care who you are.

  408. If you've been baptized into Christ, you have at least one gift the Spirit has given to you.

  409. Now, if you don't know what it is, you come and see me.

  410. We'll spend about 20 minutes and we'll find that gift, money back guaranteed.

  411. But that's what the Holy Spirit does, that's what he does.

  412. So here's your homework this week Pick one of those numbers, pick those four or five things we talked about, and I want you this week to spend just a little bit, a minute or so every day praying.

  413. Maybe it's God, you know.

  414. Help me God to guide me.

  415. Help Spirit, help guide me into truth.

  416. I don't know what to do about this situation.

  417. I don't know what to do about this relationship.

  418. Holy Spirit, please guide me into truth.

  419. Maybe it's Holy Spirit.

  420. I'm really struggling with this sin I'm really struggling with.

  421. Help me, holy Spirit.

  422. Show me.

  423. Put to death every day this sin that I'm struggling with.

  424. Maybe it's Holy Spirit.

  425. I'm really struggling right now.

  426. I'm really weak right now.

  427. Holy Spirit, I'm really angry right now at God.

  428. Please help me.

  429. Take Holy Spirit, please take the words, take my groans to the Father.

  430. Maybe this week it's Holy Spirit.

  431. I'm really struggling to be like your son.

  432. I need to learn to love like Jesus.

  433. Help me, be careful, because he's going to send somebody in your life that's going to be hard to love.

  434. But it's Holy Spirit.

  435. I'm tired of playing church.

  436. I'm tired of being a boring church member.

  437. I'm tired of coming here every Sunday, sitting here bored to death, because I don't see you working in my life and I don't worry about glorifying you.

  438. I'm tired of living my life without living for purpose and not living for mission.

  439. So, holy Spirit, please develop in me the fruit of the Spirit.

  440. I don't care what you have to do.

  441. I double dog, dare you to pray it and I guarantee you your life will never be the same.

  442. Or maybe it's Holy Spirit.

  443. Show me my gift.

  444. Or, holy Spirit, give me an opportunity to use my gift.

  445. He's alive, he's God, and God loves you so much.

  446. He wants to live inside of you and he does, he indwells you if you're a baptized believer and he is working, and this is just some of what he does.

  447. Now, if I'm quenching the Spirit and fighting against the Spirit, I won't see it, but he's there and next week we'll talk about how do I know what's his purpose?

  448. How do I know if what's happening to me is from the Spirit or not?

  449. And we'll look at something and maybe, if we have time, we'll look at how do I know I have it?

  450. You say I have him.

  451. How do I know?

  452. I'm telling you, once you know and once you live conscious of him, your Christian life will go from here to here.

  453. He's there and if you would like to live with the Spirit in your life and you need to be baptized into Christ, have your sins washed away, we can do that.

  454. He's nearer, he wants to get nearer to you and he does it through the Spirit nearer to you and he does it through the Spirit Nearer still nearer, close to thy heart.

  455. Draw me my Savior, so precious thou art.

  456. Fold me, o, fold me close to Thy breast.

  457. Shelter me safe in that haven of rest.

  458. Shelter me safe in that haven of rest Nearer, still nearer, While life shall last.

  459. Still safe in glory, my anchor is cast Through endless ages.

  460. Ever to be Nearer my Savior, still nearer to Thee.

  461. Would you bow your head with me, Father?

  462. Thank you for this day, Thank you for all the fathers and dads and grandpas and papas and papis we have here.

  463. As we recognize our fathers and honor them, we need to recognize and honor you.

  464. That job, which is one of the greatest jobs created, wouldn't be there without you and we thank you for that.

  465. Be with us this next week.

  466. We have to deal with some hot weather.

  467. Please keep us safe.

  468. Be with our military and first responders, many of them who have to work in this hot weather.

  469. Please keep them safe.

  470. Thank you for all that you do for us and especially, thank you for your son.

  471. It's in his name we pray Amen.

  472. To breathe the air of heaven.

  473. Where pain is gone and mercy fills the streets To look upon the one who bled to save me and walk with him For all eternity.

  474. There will be a day when all will bow before him.

  475. There will be a day when death will be no more, standing face to face With he who died and rose again.

  476. Holy, holy is the Lord.

  477. Every prayer we prayed in desperation, in desperation, the songs of faith we sang through doubt and fear.

  478. In the end, we'll see that it was worth it when he returns To wipe away our tears.

  479. There will be a day when all will bow before Him.

  480. There will be a day when death will be no more.

  481. Standing face to face with he who died and rose again.

  482. Holy, holy is the Lord.

  483. On that day we join the resurrection, resurrection and stand beside the heroes of the faith with one voice, a thousand generations sing worthy is the Lamb that was slain.

  484. Forever he shall reign.

  485. So let it be.

  486. Today we shout the hymn of heaven.

  487. With angels and the saints, we raise a mighty roar.

  488. Glory to our God who gave us life beyond the grave.

  489. Holy, holy is the Lord.

  490. So let it be.

  491. Today we shout the hymn of heaven.

  492. With angels and the saints.

  493. We raise a mighty roar Glory to our God.

  494. Who gave us life beyond the grave.

  495. Holy, holy is the Lord.

  496. Holy, holy is the Lord.

  497. Holy, holy is the Lord.

  498. Amen.

  499. God bless you everybody.

  500. Have a great week, amen.
