Pastor Tim Dunn "Mountains Move" Part 4 (Sunday 6-4-23)

Welcome to Life City. This podcast was created to celebrate what God is doing

and what protects us. Our vision is to reach the hungry, the hurting,

and the hopeless. God has given us our heading. Join us today

as we listen to the Word and we pray that God speaks to you in

this message. I'm excited about continuing this series of Mountain's move Amen. It's

been I've been blessed by it in my own life, and I want to

turn your attention to the Book of Deuteronomy Chapter one. I know I just

let you sit down, but I like to stand in the reading of the

Word. If you would mind standing with me, Amen. Deuteronomy Chapter one,

verse three says, in the fortieth year, on the first day of

the eleventh month, Moses spoke to the children of Israel, according to all

that the Lord had commanded him to give to them. After he had defeated

Saihan, the king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbahn, and awed

the king of Bashan, who lived in Ashtaroth, and dry across the Jordan

in the land of Moab. Moses undertook to expound this law, saying,

and this is the focus of today the Lord, our God spake unto us

in horrib saying you have dwelt long enough in this mountain. You have dwelt

long enough in this mountain. Amen, I want to say that to you,

too long enough in this mountain. It's time to move. Enough is

enough. Once you look at somebody and tell him enough is enough, it's

time to move and you can be seated. You've lived in the shadow of

that mountain that you're facing far too long. That mountain was never meant to

be your final destination. Anybody believe that there is more. God has more

for you. Amends. God was telling them, and he's telling us here

today, I have more for you. You've stayed long enough in this location.

You've stayed long enough in this mountain. You've spent enough time in this

mountain. It's time to move on, Man and up in Verse seven says

turn and set your journey. There are other Bible versions that make the statement.

Instead of turn and set your journey, they say get up and break

camp. Get up and break camp. You've been camped out. You've been

living far too long under the shadow or in the shadow of that mountain that

you're facing. It's time to get up and break camp and get moving,

because God has more for you. Anybody believe that. Amen. He says,

go to the hill country of the Amorites, and to all their neighbors

in the Rabbi in the hill country, and in the lowland, and then

the gav and by the sea coast, the land of the Canaanites, and

Lebanon, as far as the great river, the River Euphrates. In verse

eight, see, I have placed the land before you. What God was

telling them is get out of this mountain. Leave this mountain, because I've

placed land before you. But this is where our brain works. But God,

it's already got people living in it. I can't go there. I

can't walk in that land because it's already full of people. God continues,

and he says, go in and possess the land which the Lord, to

Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob, to them and their descendants after them.

Pack your tent up, gather all of your things, because it's moving

day. Amen. It's moving day. You're not staying in this location any

longer. Amen. If some of you walked in here, still living in

the shadow of your mountain, today's moving day. If you'll let it.

Today is a day, is a moment, an opportunity today, right here,

right now, for you to determine. I've stayed here long enough.

Anybody tired of living in front of that in the shadow of that obstacle.

Anybody tired about struggling with the same thing over and over and over and over

again, fighting the same fight over and over and over again. Today's moving

day. Amen. But I can't convince you of it. You have to

be convinced of it. I can't be tired of it for you. You

have to get tired of it. You have to get tired of button your

head up against that wall time and time and time again. It comes down

to the fact of, Hey, I'm tired. I've been here long enough,

and I'm ready to move into the promise that God has for me.

Anybody raise your hand and say, yes, that's me. I want to

move into God's promise for life. Amen, because this is the deal.

I know you've grown comfortable at the base of the mountain. I understand it's

this idea because you lived there for so long. It's really the only thing

you remember. You may have faced that same thing your entire life, or

most of your life, or as far as your memory can serve you,

and so you grow comfortable, it becomes safe. But God has a promise

waiting just for you. Verse eight says I have placed the land before you

go in and possess the land which the Lord swore to give to your fathers.

Once you've had enough and enough is really enough, amen. I used

to hear my mom say that quite often, that is enough. I've said

that as a parent, that's enough. Girls, and they look at me

like I'm talking gibberish. But I've had enough. I've had it up to

here. And then you say the parent thing, Oh it was peace and

quiet. Saw video one time where a mom was yelling at her boys and

she's like, can I get peace and quiet? And the boys, being

smart lecks, they were said, I'm peace, the osman, I'm quiet.

Yeah, I don't think those boys are still with us. Something probably

that my brother would have done, not me. My brother would have done

now. But once you've had enough, once you really get tired in the

shadow of that mountain, you decide it's time to move. You decide that

it's time to see what God has in store for you outside of that place

you've been for so long. Why because there are victories awaiting you. Amen,

there are there is an anointing awaiting you, there are promises awaiting you.

And I read an interesting thought recently and it said this, and we've

got to hear for you, don't you see, it's hard to imagine what

you cannot remember. Why don't you leave that up? It is hard to

imagine what you cannot remember. Let me explain what I mean. If you

grew up, say without a father, or maybe you had an abusive father,

it's very hard for people that grew up either without a father or with

an abusive father, to imagine a loving, heavenly father man. You know

why, because they don't have a memory of that. They don't have a

memory of a moment where an earthly father was loving and good and all of

those things. They don't have that benchmart to go back to. They don't

have a baseline in their life or into so it's not like they can't,

but it's hard to remember. It's hard to imagine what you cannot remember.

And so how does that have anything to do with what we read in scripture?

Has everything to do because when you look at the children of Israel,

what was the earliest memory of the Israelites, their earliest memory, their only

memory, was slavery. Amen, this is all they had known their entire

life for ten generations. All they knew it was slavery. Slavery was their

baseline, it was their default setting. It was hard for them to imagine

freedom because they had never seen it. And many of you sit here today

and you're in the same boat. It's hard for you to imagine freedom.

It's hard for you to imagine a life free from addiction, free from things

that you're fighting. It's hard for you to imagine because you've lived so long

in the shadow of that mountain. It was hard for them to imagine a

promised land, a destiny beyond slavery. It was hard for them to imagine

victory. You know why, because they had a four hundred year losing streak,

And when you have a four hundred year losing drea, it tends to

create a defeatist mentality, it tends to create a victim mentality. Amen,

Slavery was their status quo. Their memory was their mountain. All he knew

was that, And I think that's true from any of us. Shameful memory

a memory of a mistake made, and the enemy comes in and starts playing

games. And we know that God can forgive, and God has forgiven it.

And but this is the thing. God doesn't just forgive, He forgets.

He removes it as far as the east is from the west, is

what the scripture says. But the enemy reminds us over and over and over

and over again. And in that process it becomes difficult to imagine yourself not

facing that mountain, because all you remember is the mountain. That's all you

know. So how do we respond. First we have to understand what Moses

told the children of Israel. You've stayed long enough. It's time to go.

It's time to break camp. I'm staying right there for a reason.

Amen. You've got to grow tired of it. Amen. You've got to

grow weary of it. Amen. You've got to be and tired of dealing

with the same stuff over and over and over again. And you've prayed about

it and it hasn't gone anywhere. You've tried to cast it out, and

it's still there, day after day, week after week, month after month.

It's like you'll never get rid of it. And so you've stopped praying

about it. You stopped worrying about it, and you've just grown comfortable with

it. You've begun to tolerate the struggle. You've begun to tolerate the mountain.

Amen. But it's funny, though, because what I find in Scripture

are two types of mountains. There are mountains that are like temptations that are

to be cast away. We know what Jesus said when the devil came to

him. Satan came to Jesus when he was fasting forty days in the desert,

and he's like, Hey, if you'll just eat bread, I'll give

you all this, this kingdom and all this. And Jesus just simply rebuked

him. Get thee behind me, Satan. He cast that mountain of temptation

away from him. And so there are mountains in your life that you can

just speak the word of faith and you can rebuke them, and they can

be cast out into yonder sea, into oblivion, out of your life.

Basically, that's all we're worried about. Where it goes. It doesn't matter

as long as it's out of my life, right, anybody say amen to

that? Amen, poor pigs, but be gone. And so, you

know, we just wanted out, and there are there are things that are

of the spoken word. We have authority through the Holy Ghost and through the

name of Jesus Christ to speak things and rebuke things, and bind things and

lose things, and they respond. Amen. And so there are mountains of

temptation that come, and I don't have to give into the temptation. All

I have to do is speak a word of faith and rebuke it and it

can be cast out. Get thee behind me singing, not today, devil.

Amen. But then I find there are mountains that have to be conquered.

There are mountains that have to be conquered. There are mountains that you

can't just speak to. You have to walk up. Amen. And the

reason you have to walk them, the reason you have to conquer them,

is because God's got a promise a waiting for you in the journey. And

God's got something for you that will never that will change your entire life.

When you decide, well, this thing, I've prayed it, I've prayed

about it, i've cast it, I've i've walked around it, I've danced

around it. I've you know, I've spoken tongues around it. I've done

everything I know to do and nothing's happened. The mountains still there, the

walls still there. What do we do next? We conquer it. But

conquering a mountain takes a certain resolve. Amen. To conquer a mountain,

you got to be tired of living at the base of it. At some

point you can stand there it's like Wow, what a mountain. But at

some point you get tired of it, and you break camp. You gather

up all your belongings and say him to walk straight up this mountain, hey

man, Because I praying and all my fasting and all the things I know

to do is if it's still there, that means I gotta I gotta walk

up it. Okay, So it's time to climb and conquer the mountain.

So there was this guy in the Old Testament that lived by this. His

name was Caleb. So I want to show you what Caleb did Joshua chapter

fourteen, verse nine, And this is Caleb talking to Joshua. Okay,

Caleb is talking to Joshua. And Caleb said, and Moses swore on that

day, saying, surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine

inheritance and thy children's forever. Because thou hast wholly followed the Lord, my

God. And now behold, the Lord has kept me alive, as he

said, these forty and five years, even since the Lord spake this word

unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness. And now

lo, I am this day four score and five years old. As yet

I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent

me. As my strength was, then, even so is my own for

war, both to go out and to come in. And in verse twelve,

Now therefore Caleb's talking to Joshua. Now therefore give me this mountain.

Now, Joshua, give me this mountain. He says, whereof the Lord

spake in that day? For thou hurtest in that day? And then he

goes on to say the most interesting things. How the Anakims were there.

You know the Anakims were You remember a story about a big dude named Goliath.

Amen, Goliath was an Anakim. All of his descendants came from anoch

Okay, and they all lived in this area of the mountain that Caleb is

asking for. Caleb, in some people's mind, was a lunatic. But

we know that Caleb and Joshua and ten other spies went over into the land,

and it was ten other people. And there's people in your life looking

at your mountain and they're telling you you'll never defeat it. There's voices in

your life telling you you're as grasshopper in their sight. You're not powerful enough,

you're not big enough, you're not mighty enough. You're not powerful enough

to defeat that mountain that you're facing. And that's what Caleb and Joshua heard.

Ten spies come back. We can't do it. They didn't do it.

Amen, But Caleb, Caleb said, give me this mountain. But

Caleb, there's there's giants there. I know. There's there's fenced and walled

cities there. I know. Give me this mountain. And he says that

the cities were great and they were fenced. If so be, the Lord

will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out.

As the Lord said, this is the deal. God isn't going to do

it for you, but he will do it with you. Amen. Amen.

It takes a little bit of grit on our part. Amen. It

takes a little bit of resolve on our part that I'm not gonna live.

I may have been defeated in the past, but I'm not gonna live defeated

in the future. I'm My only memory may be addiction, my only memory

may be pain, my only memory may be this mountain. But I know

God's got something greater in store for me, and I'm ready to break camp

of camped out in my pain and in my mountain and in my addiction.

I'm ready to walk and conquer the promise that God has for me. Amen,

it takes a resolve. A man Caleb was saying, I was ready

when I was forty, because this is the deal. Caleb was forty years

old when he went to spy out the land, and then they came back

and ten of them said no, one can't do it. So you know

what, for forty five more years they wondered the wilderness that Renee sayers.

I said they can't do it. They didn't do it. They died off.

Let me tell you something. We get so worried about what people say

we can't do, when what God's really wanting to do is remove them from

your life so they never see you do it. Amen, Let the negative

people talk because they're not even gonna be around when you do walk through that

mountain, They're not gonna be around when you walk in His promise. Amen.

So it just remove the naysayers. Now, you got negative people in

your life, you need to get those negative people out of your life.

Okay, Okay. Now if that negative person is your spouse, pray for

them. Okay. I didn't give you permission to call a lawyer. Okay,

just clarify that. Because Caleb understood, doesn't matter if I was forty

or eighty five. I'm ready. I'm ready to take that mountain. And

I know I have to fight giants, but I'm ready to fight those giants

because Caleb understood, it's not by might nor by power, but by my

spirit, says the Lord. Caleb understood that he had this resolve, he

had this understanding of who God is a man. And that's what happens.

The enemy comes in and he reminds you of all of the things in the

past. He reminds you of the pain and the defeats and the and all

the losses, and we start doubting the power and the might of the Holy

Ghost in our life. And Caleb understood, I know God is able.

He said it, and he's bound by his word. Give me my mountain.

I don't care if it comes with great walled cities. I don't care

if it comes with big, ugly giants. Give me my mountain. I'm

ready to conquer it. I'm ready because I know this. If the Lord

is with me, I can drive every one of those giants out. I

can remove the cities, I can remove the walls. They'll fall flat.

If God is with me. Man, he saw the challenges that lived on

the mountain. He knew there was giants there. He knew he was gonna

have to defeat those giants. But all of those things paled in comparison to

who God was to Caleb. And I love what Scripture says about Caleb numbers

chapter fourteen, verse twenty two. It says, because all those men,

and this is about your naysayers. Okay, I want to tell you,

because all those men which have seen my glory and my miracles which I did

in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times,

and they've not hearkened to my voice. Surely they shall not see the

land which I swear unto their fathers. Neither shall any of them that provoked

me see it. They're not going to see it, he says, But

my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him. He had another

spirit with him. I don't know. Caleb may have been half coughed.

You know, he may have been a little odd. You know, he

may have been a little different. You know when people talked about Caleb,

be like, oh, Caleb, he's an odd duck. But God says

he had a different spirit with him, and he says he's followed me fully.

He says him, will I bring into the land whereunto he went,

and his seed shall possess it. Caleb wasn't willing keep that verse up.

Caleb wasn't willing to stay at the base of the mountain. I want my

wife to come, and so I'm gonna tell you the difference. I want

to show you the difference. The difference is given to us in the New

Testament. Second Timothy, chapter one, verse seven. Put that verse up.

This was the difference between Caleb and all of those other people. What

Paul told Timothy. For God has not given us the spirit of fear.

Bileub didn't fear the giants. Caleb didn't fear the great walled cities on his

mountain. Why read what this says. God has not given us the spirit

of fear, but of power and of love. And we love those two

things, and those two things are great. But the end of this says,

and of a sound mind. You know what that means. A sound

mind is a mind that's not divided. It's a mind of unity. So

this is the deal. Two people can be standing there and they can be

looking at the very same thing and see two very different things. Why different

people, different stokes for different folks. Right, Caleb is looking at the

Promised Land the same Caleb and Joshua are standing there looking at them the same

as the other ten spies. And why Caleb and Joshua Sea are is completely

different from what the other ten Spies see. Why Caleb had a sound mind

of who God was. Who God was had long ago, somewhere along the

way, had been settled in Caleb's mind. And because his mind was in

harmony with who God was, the giants and the walled cities did not scare

him. See this is what the enemy comes in. He wants to come

in, and he wants to divide your mind. He wants to come in,

and he wants to bring division in your mind so that when there's division,

he can bring fear. Because as you ever get it settled that not

by power, not by might, but by my spirit, says the Lord.

You ever get that settled in your mind and in your heart, nothing

is impossible to you? Why because it's not about us, It's about God.

Who do you serve? Come on, won't you think about this?

Who do you serve? Who is God to you? Ronnie? Who's God

to you? I want you to think about this, Emilia? Who is

God to you? Jaron Renee? Who is God to you? Define Him

in your mind right now? If you have to go, I want you

to define God right now in your mind. Doug, God is a healer.

God is a deliverer. Am I right? Marley? God's a deliverer.

That's settled in my mind. No giant can convince Marley and Ronnie,

do you have anything different? You know why? Because He's been a deliverer.

A sound mind, a sound mind. Who is God to you?

Is he powerful? Is he mighty? Is he sovereign? Is he faithful?

Who is God to you? A sound and Caleb had a mind that

was set on the promises of God and not the challenges of the mountain.

And it didn't matter to Caleb who was living on the mountain. Caleb didn't

fear his mountain because he knew who God was. God had formed a sound

of mine somewhere in Caleb's life that brought him to the point, at eighty

five years old, to look Joshua, his buddy, in the eyes,

and say, Joshua, give me my mountain. Hallelujah, hallelujah. You

have to get tired of living at the base of the mountain and determined I've

stayed here too long. I've stayed here long enough. It's time to break

camp and to conquer. I want you to stand with me. I want

to tell you something. There is going to be a fight when you decide,

when you make up your mind to conquer that mountain, there is going

to be a fight. I'm not gonna sugarcoat it and tell you it's gonna

be rosy and you're just gonna be able to take an escalator to the top.

There are gonna be some giants, there are gonna be some walls,

but you're not alone. You're not alone. Look at somebody and tell them

you're not alone. Who's with you? The Waymaker? Who's with you,

the one that can make walls all flat? Amen, who's with you,

the one that formed the mountains and the seas and the world, who holds

him in the span of his hand. That's who is with you. By

his breath we have life. That's who is with you. Man. So

there's gonna be fight, there's gonna be but none of those things are too

big for God. And if you'll get your mind set on who God is,

fear will be removed. Fear is removed when there, when there is

a soundness of mind of who He is. I don't have to fear tomorrow

because I know who holds my tomorrow. I don't have to fear what I

can face, what I may face, because I know who he is.

You to close your eyes all over this place. I've asked a few people

to come and help me this morning. If they'll step out and come up

here and stand along the front here and face the congregation, man, he'll

spread out. Man, I want to tell you, and this is just

a representation of people that I feel this about these that I've asked to come

up here. They have a different spirit with them much like Caleb did.

What am I talking about? They simply believe that God is bigger. They

simply believe that God is able. Amen. They simply believe that if God

said it, he'll do it. Amen. That's that's, that's who they

are. And so if you're tired of the mountain, if you're ready for

something different, if you're ready to see his promise, to walk in His

promise, these here are up here to pray for you. They're up here

to lay their hands upon you and pray a prayer of faith, to pray

for you as you journey to conquer the mountain that is in front of you.

Amen. And if you're tired enough of living under the shadow of that,

to break camp and step out from where you're at and make your way

up to the up to one of these that are up here today, I

want to tell you something. There can be a breakthrough in your life.

Amen. You're you're putting a lot of a lot of a lot of responsibility

on these No, no, no no. And see they understand it's not

by their power, it's not by their might, but by the spirit of

the Lord. Amen, hallelujah. And so if you're tired of living facing

the same struggle over and over and over again, the same pain, the

same memories. Amen, as we pray together, I want you to step

out from where you're at it. I want you to come up to one

of these and I want you to ask them to pray for you, and

they're gonna lay hands on you and they're begin to pray for you the prayer

of faith, Hallelujah. And if you'll just simply believe that God is able,

He'll start performing miracles in your life. Go ahead, if you've got

people standing in front of you, begin to pray right now the day.
