Welcome to Life City. This podcast was created to celebrate what God is doing
-
and what protectas. Our vision is to reach the hungry, the hurting,
-
and the hopeless. God has given us our heading. Join us today as
-
we listen to the Word and we pray that God speaks to you in this
-
message. As a kid, I took a few months lessons of taekwondo.
-
Yeah I did. Yeah, Taylor, get thee behind me, Satan,
-
you want me to hurt myself right here in front of everybody, I will
-
not be demonstrating my taekwondo days. The reason I did it was because I
-
really wanted to be cool like Bruce Lee. I'm telling my age some of
-
you like Bruce who Bruce Lee was the master man Saturday Morning Kung Fu.
-
He was the man. He even whipped up on seven foot one Kareem Abdul
-
Dabar in one of his movies, Tallest Due to ever get beat up by
-
the shortest guy you know is David and Goliath is kind of what it was.
-
But I'd been in a few scraps and I wanted to be able to
-
do a roundhouse kick like Bruce Lee. That was the whole vision in my
-
head was taekwondo who you know, karate kid, whatever that pose is called.
-
You know that kind of thing. But the problem was, I never
-
made it past the duck walking lessons that we did for a solid week.
-
I was three days in and the duck walking and I'm like, nope,
-
it ain't it ain't worked. I'll just use my fist. I don't need
-
to use my feet. Yeah, and I was out. My brother and
-
his friends kept on and I ducked out and I did something else. But
-
I realized that the Psalmist, David, I think had a little Bruce Lee
-
in him, even though David lived a long, long, long time before
-
Oh Brucey did. Psalms one nineteen is the longest chapter in a Bible by
-
a long shot. It's a pulps of twenty two different stanzas, and every
-
stanza is separated by and begins with one of the twenty two letters of the
-
Hebrew alphabet. In those twenty two stanzas and all of those verses, there
-
are eleven times in this chapter that the Psalmist uses the word quicken or quickened.
-
And so we're gonna look at that. And so if you have your
-
Bibles or you can. We're gonna have it on the screen. Psalms one
-
nineteen, We're gonna look at just three of them, where he uses the
-
word quicken. Psalms one nineteen, verse twenty five says, my soul cleaveth
-
unto the dust. Quicken thou me according to thy word. Jumping down a
-
few to verse thirty seven, he says, turn away mine eyes from beholding
-
vanity, and quicken thou me in thy way. Jumping down to verse ninety
-
three if Psalms one nineteen, he says, I will never forget thy precepts,
-
for with them thou hast quickened me. The reason I said that the
-
Psalmist David had a little Bruce Lee in him is because when you look up
-
that word quick and you see the Hebrew word for quicken, and it's pronunciation,
-
it's pronunciation is hiya. It is I promise, I'm not making that
-
up. It is hia like a karate chop. So David was saying,
-
hiya, thou me according to thy word. That's crazy, huh. Or
-
maybe Bruce Lee had a little bit of Salmist David in him. Let's we
-
will say that. But that word quicken literally is pronounced hiya. That's great.
-
I couldn't make this stuff up. The Psalm, the Psalmist says,
-
quickened me according to thy word, and that that that word quicken, that
-
phrase, it's synonymous with what we're talking about, with being stirred, synonymous
-
with this stirring that we've been we started talking about last week. It means
-
to be restored. It means that word quicken. To stir means to restore,
-
to refresh, to revive, to resurrect. It means to conceive to
-
hayat, That's what it means. So I've looked forward to continuing in our
-
Stirred series today because this is the truth. The Holy goat a quickening within
-
us. Amen. Amen. It revives us, It restores us, It
-
renews us. It brings about a resurrection in our life. That's what the
-
spirit does. That's the stirring of the spirit. To be stirred is to
-
be given life, Amen. Anybody testify to that. It's to be made
-
animated. It's it's when God breathe life into atom. Adam became an animated
-
creature creation a man. That breath of God began to work its way through
-
that body made from dust, think of this. He forms Adam out of
-
the dust of the ground, and then he breathed life into his nostrils.
-
And it's in that moment as that breath begins to trickle through his body and
-
into his nostrils and activating the brain and working its way down and impacting every
-
organ that it comes in contact with. And when breath is oxygen reaches the
-
organ, it becomes to be animated. It becomes working and functioning and operating
-
the way the creator designed it. The organ began to function and operate.
-
I'm sure you've seen a movie, a documentary, or watched the surgery channel
-
where they do transplants. It was amazing to me. The first transplant I
-
watched, not in person, I'd have passed out. It's not the blood,
-
it's all the other stuff that I'm like, yeah, it's I'm out.
-
But I watched a transplant. And as they took this donated organ and
-
they put it inside of this body, which is amazing to me, and
-
they made all the necessary attachment, they plugged it in and all the places
-
it's supposed to be plugged in. They waited and they waited for that organ
-
to begin to operate and in this process. It wasn't a very long process,
-
thankfully, but it was. It was. It was amazing as that
-
organ began to receive oxygen, because you know what it did. As soon
-
as it began to receive oxygen, it began to change colors. And as
-
it began to change colors, it began to move, it began to function.
-
And you could see the impact of that one organ as it began to
-
receive that that that oxygen, that breath, that it impacted all of the
-
other organs that it was plugged into. That's the beauty of the creation of
-
the body. Amen. Amen, And to think the breath of God.
-
Did that do this? Did you brush your teeth after that coffee? You
-
know what my wife did to me this morning. I brushed my teeth,
-
I did I do? And I got to church. But after I brushed
-
my teeth, I drink one, two, three cups of coffee. I
-
don't remember. I could lost count. And how's up here praying? And
-
she walked up to me, asked me a question. I answered it.
-
She walked off a few seconds later, she walks back up to me and
-
reaches out and grabs my head. I thought she was being sweet. She
-
was handing me a piece of gum that's messed up. She was saying,
-
as nicely as she could, your breath stinks. So I did chew the
-
gum. Dennis hooked me up with cements, some searts, those kind of
-
things. So start backing up. I'll put him mint in and so we
-
can continue our conversation. But there's something powerful about the functionality and the ability
-
to breathe that when God breathed life, and that's what the Holy Spirit does
-
within us. That's the power and the operation of the Holy Ghost. It
-
activates the things of God. It activates spiritual things in our life in order
-
to get them to begin to operate and function as designed. The Holy Ghost
-
begins to activate the fruit of the Spirit. Do you see how that works.
-
Amen. I can't have the fruit of the Spirit without the spirit that
-
gives life to the fruit. Amen. And so the Holy Ghost, the
-
Holy Spirit gives life. It animates the fruit of the Spirit. It also
-
gives life, and it activates the giftings of the spirit, the gifting of
-
the Spirit. You've got to allow your life to be stirred, to be
-
moved, to be quickened by the Holy Spirit. Amen. Paul wrote in
-
Romans chapter eight, verse five, he said, for they that are after
-
the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, But they that are after
-
the spirit the things of the spirit. He says, to be carnally minded
-
is death. That's pretty serious language there. He doesn't mince words there.
-
He understands to be carnally minded means is death. To be focused and so
-
much attention paid upon what happens on this life and pay and disregard to the
-
eternal. He's saying, that's death. But to be spiritually minded is life
-
and peace. He says, because the carnal mind is enmity against God.
-
That literally means an enemy. The carnal mind is an enemy against God against
-
strong language, not my language. Apostle Paul, you got an issue with
-
it, take it up with him, good luck, for it is not
-
subject to the law of God. Neither indeed can be. You see,
-
the very precepts that David said quick in his soul are no effect due to
-
carnality of the mind. Amen. That's powerful. It's a powerful statement.
-
Amen that that doesn't mean that we walk around, you know, so spiritually
-
minded. We're no heavenly good. I know earthly good. My dad,
-
you say, don't be so heavenly minded, you're no earthly good. Amen.
-
That you can't talk to people because they're below you. You know that
-
we still are flesh and blood. Pinch yourself you feel that, Okay,
-
we're good. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
-
But you are not in the flesh, but in the spirit. If everyone
-
say, if if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you,
-
what the Holy Ghost does? Leave that verse up? He says, you're
-
not in the flesh, but in the spirit. He just spent two verses
-
telling us the issue with the flesh, that we can't please God if we're
-
in the flesh. So how do we get out of the flesh? If
-
the Spirit of God dwell in you, it is the baptism of the Holy
-
Ghost that allows your nature to be changed from fleshly to spiritually. That's why
-
it's so important to allow the move of the Spirit to stir us, to
-
quicken us, to breathe once again into our lives. Amen. Amen.
-
An, he says, now, if any man have not the Spirit of
-
Christ, he is none of his Verse ten. And if Christ be in
-
you, the body is dead because of sin. But the spirit is what
-
life because of righteousness. Amen. But if the spirit of Him that raised
-
up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from
-
the dead, shall also quicken your mortal bodies. It will also haya your
-
mortal bodies. By the spirit that dwelleth in you, breathe life, bring
-
a revival in your heart, to a revival in your mind. I've told
-
it before. There's something to be said. I've heard people pray Lord sin
-
revival in America. You know where revival starts in America, in your life
-
and in my life, it starts in here. It starts in here,
-
hallelujah. And it only happens by the power of His Spirit. Amen.
-
That quickening, that stirring, that sudden infusion of life that only the Holy
-
Ghost can give us is what brings about a resurrection. Amen. Verse ten.
-
Go back to verse ten. The body is dead, but the spirit
-
is life. The body is dead, lifeless, hopeless, broken as a
-
result of sin, because Scripture tells us when sin is finished, it brings
-
forth death. Amen. But the breath of the Spirit in your life brings
-
about a resuscitation. It gives life and animation to what once was dead.
-
Amen, because there are things in your life everyone here that sin has tried
-
to kill, steal and destroy. There are things in your life with that
-
God has blessed you with that. God has empowered you with that. The
-
enemy and sin has tried to kill, steal, and destroy Roy Why because
-
he's afraid of it and he don't want you to activate it to He don't
-
want you to walk in it. He don't want you to operated it.
-
And so but the Spirit of Truth is here this morning to breathe life back
-
into what wants was dead, to breathe life. I hear the voice of
-
the spirit this morning, calling from outside of the tomb. Come forth,
-
Come forth. There is the dead things that you thought your past had killed.
-
There are things of God, There are callings, There are purposes,
-
there are promises. There are annointings that you thought were dead because of sin.
-
But here this morning I hear the voice of the Spirit, wanting to
-
breathe life into your calling, wanting to breathe life into your wanting to breathe
-
life, wanting to resuscitate your promise, wanting to resuscitate your anointing. What
-
God has placed in you a man. You were one fearfully and wonderfully made
-
a man. He told the prophet Jeremiah before you were even conceived. I
-
knew you. I had a plan for you. And then the Jeremiah is
-
no better than you and I. He put his britches on one leg at
-
a time like you and I do. Hey man, And so if he
-
had a plan for Jeremiah, he's got a plan for you. And I
-
know sin may have been a part of your life for however many years.
-
And I know there are some things that you thought where have been buried long
-
ago. But I know I know the one that can speak life back into
-
anything that he deems worthy to be living. Really our man. I've heard
-
people talk about their calling. Well, I used to be well in another
-
time, I felt a calling here. Well, I that somehow your life
-
has changed God's will. Do you really believe that your mistakes can change the
-
will of God for your life? If we believe he says, you know
-
what he says about his word, He says it will accomplish. It will
-
not return void to me until it accomplishes what it was set out to do.
-
If he has spoken an anointing over your life until you as long as
-
there's breath in your body, that word is still active. There's like four
-
people that believe that. Come on, I'm serious, because you sinned.
-
Sin does not have the final say. Now we don't continue in it.
-
Amen, we understand that. But if you've ever felt a calling of God,
-
ever been confirmed in your life, Amen, The Holy Ghost comes when
-
one for one reason to breathe life back into the things that you thought had
-
already died. Amen. Some of you are living so far below what God
-
wants to do in your life. Some of you are living so far beneath
-
where God's will and design for your life is. And all you need to
-
allow him to do is to begin to breathe life back. The ministry you
-
thought was dead can be resurrected by the breath of power and baptism of the
-
Holy Spirit. That gifting you thought was lost just needs to be resuscitated by
-
the breath of the Spirit. To that anointing that you were convinced you forfeited
-
can confunction again by the power of the Holy Ghost. Amen. Exodus thirty
-
seven, I mean Ezekiel thirty seven, Verse one. The hand of the
-
Lord was upon me, and he carried me out in the spirit of the
-
Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley that was full
-
of bones. As the prophet stands in the middle of this valley in verse
-
nine of Ezekiel thirty seven. Then he said, unto me, prophesy,
-
unto the wind, prophesy, son of Man, And say to the wind,
-
thus says the Lord God. You see the boy. Do you believe
-
in the power of his word. If you believe in the power of his
-
word, there's nothing that can't be brought to life. Amen. And so
-
he says, Thus says the Lord God, Come from the four winds.
-
Oh what, oh what? Breath and breathe upon these slain, that they
-
may live. Breathe upon these that were slain. Breathe upon these bones that
-
lay here disconnected. Breathe upon these broken, shattered pieces of what wants where
-
men? Breathe upon this pile of dry, dead bones. Breathe upon these
-
that were slain. Breathe upon these that have been defeated by a battle.
-
Come on, somebody, catch where I'm going. Breathe upon these that have
-
been broken, Breathe upon these that have felt hopelessness, that when people look
-
at them, Oh, there's that person's hopeless because they're try and they're dead,
-
and it's a pile of try bones. Breathe upon these that have felt
-
the stain of sin. Breathe upon these that were slain, that they may
-
live. And in verse ten, he'll being a good boy, he said.
-
So I prophesied as he commanded me. That's the start. So I
-
prophesied as he commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived
-
and stood upon their feet and exceeding great army. This church is made up
-
of people that not long ago or just a pile of lifeless bones. But
-
your purpose didn't die, I said, Your purpose did not and there was
-
still life in your life, in your calling. There is still life in
-
your anointing. All it takes is a stirring from the breath of the Holy
-
Ghost to turn everything around in your life. Ephesians chapter two, Verse one,
-
He says, and you has he haya, You're gonna do that from
-
now on, I promise you. You're gonna see the word quicken. You're
-
gonna yeah, and you're gonna judy chop somebody right there next to you.
-
Don't don't Judy chop anybody? Oh London used to go around the house,
-
Judy chopping me. She'd like sneak up on me and do a surprise attack.
-
Man, and you hath he quickened? Who were what? You were
-
dead because of your trestpasses. I was dead because of my trespasses and my
-
sin. Amen. And he says, I'm gonna revive what was dead?
-
Why? Because I'm not finished with it? If he was finished with you,
-
why would he revive you? It's with you? Why would he empower
-
you? If you had done all you need to do? Why are you
-
still breathing? Why are you still walking around? Why is your physical body
-
still in operation? If he's if he's done with you, if you've done
-
everything. So if you're breathing today, yeah, if we're If you're breathing
-
today, Amen, that means he's not finished with you. I'm gonna say
-
that again because I usually don't preach for a response, but I'm preaching for
-
a response right now. If you're still breathing, he's not finished with you.
-
I don't know, pastor you don't know what she's done. Jesus does,
-
and he's the one that's reviving her. Amen. I don't have to
-
know. It doesn't matter what I see. It doesn't matter what Ezekiel saw,
-
It matters what God commanded him to do. Speak, let breath come
-
back into what you think is ted, what you think is hopeless. And
-
I'm standing here today and I can see from my viewpoints and my advantage point,
-
there are some people that might speak things over your life because what they
-
see may look hopeless, and maybe something that's been spoken in the past over
-
you, and I rebuke that death in Jesus's name, and I speak life
-
by the power of the Holy Ghost over you. All right, I gotta
-
go on wherein in times past we wos of this world according to the Prince
-
of the Power of the Air, the Spirit that now worketh in the children
-
of disobedience, That's who we were. That was our identity. So you
-
need to realize that the stirring, the quickening in your life by the Spirit
-
is because he's not finished with you. There's more for you to do.
-
There are greater moves of the Spirit to come in your life. You haven't
-
reached the summit of what God wants to do in you and through you.
-
Okay, next week, I'm we'll talk about Philip, and I'm there.
-
Every ounce of bought an energy in me right now wants to just dive off
-
into Philip. But I this my entire message next week, Zach. So
-
if I do, I'm gonna destroy everything I want to preach about. Okay.
-
So that's a teaser, and I'm gonna move on or I'll give everything
-
away. I hate I'm a bad teaser. Okay. So there are greater
-
moves, There are greater opportunities for you to minister in your future. Whatever
-
you've done for God is good, but what's ahead of you is even greater.
-
Do we believe that? If he continues an Ephesians chapter two or four,
-
he says, but God, who is rich in mercy, thankful for
-
that for his great love. Wherewith he loved us verse five, Even when
-
we were dead in sin, Hath quickened us together with Christ by grace,
-
you are saved in verse six, And Hath raised us up together. He
-
revived, He resesses it dated. He called you out of darkness into his
-
marvelous light, and made us sit together in heavenly places. In Christ,
-
Jesus, there is an elect calling on your life. See are you calling
-
everybody to be a preacher. I'm not saying what you're called to do.
-
I'm just saying there's a calling why, because that's what I read in here.
-
Amen. Amen. I read somewhere about it being a chosen generation,
-
a royal priesthood. I read somewhere else where it talks about pressed toward the
-
mark of the high calling. I don't know what your Bible reads, that's
-
what and my Bible is talking about me and you. And it doesn't say
-
if you haven't sinned, if you haven't messed up, because sin is so
-
strong that the power of God holds no candle to the power of sin.
-
But unfortunately that sometimes that's how we live, that what we've done some power,
-
somehow overpowers what God wants to do. Amen. According to me and
-
according to my Bible, the Holy Ghost can do anything the will of God
-
desires. Amen. So okay, that's why the voice of the Spirit has
-
been speaking to you. That's why you've dreamed the dreams that you've dreamed.
-
That's why you're having the conversations you're having. That's why God's placing you in
-
front of the people. He's placing youth thought it was for this or for
-
that But what God's doing is he the He's the master chess player. He's
-
position positioning you to work through you. If you'll allow your heart and your
-
mind to be stirred by his spirit. Amen, that's what he's doing.
-
It's the stirring of the spirit that is bringing about and awakening a reviving into
-
your life. Amen. As sorry, bring me a musician Epheesis. Yet
-
if you don't, if you don't get that joke, that's not a joke.
-
But if you if you don't get that terminology is a message. Ephesians,
-
Chapter two, verse nineteen says, Now therefore you are no more strangers
-
and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and of the household of God.
-
And you are built upon the foundation of the prophet or the apostles and
-
prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone. Everyone say amen,
-
and whom all everyone say, All the building, fitly framed together, fitly
-
framed together, groweth in the Lord. And then verse twenty two, and
-
whom you also are built together? Why for inhabitation of God through the Spirit.
-
All of this so that you and I might be inhabited by the Holy
-
Spirit, the creation of the Church, the Book of Acts, the New
-
Testament, all of it, His death, burial and resurrection, all of
-
it, so that He could take us and perfectly fitly frame us together as
-
the Body of Christ. Not to just come together and have pot lux,
-
No, so that we would be a habitation of the Holy Ghost to dwell
-
in, not around, not over, but in your function in the Body
-
of Christ. Exist to give place for the Holy Spirit to work through you.
-
So when we are ate as one body, empowered by one spirit,
-
God receives the glory. Did you stand with me a man, Matt?
-
You let him know? All right? I was told that as soon as
-
I have people stand or at the musician, income is already at work making
-
sure he's got a table at Texas Roadhouse. I ain't gonna tell you who
-
told me that, Matt. Before they get to Texas Roadhouse, before you
-
get to wherever you're gonna go, eat and dine and fellowship. I wonder
-
if you would be willing to give the Spirit of God one more opportunity.
-
I wonder if you would be willing to allow the Holy Ghost to speak,
-
to move, to stir you one more time before you walk out of here,
-
not that this is the only place that the Holy Ghost can stir you,
-
not that this is the only place that the Voice of the Spirit can
-
speak. But while we gather in one mind, in one accord, I
-
wonder, before we are dismissed and we go out here and we are baptize
-
those that have come today to be baptized in the wonderful name of Jesus.
-
And even baptism, old things are passed away. Behold, it become new.
-
It's the process of baptism, that cleansing, that new birth. Amen.
-
Before we go into all of that, I wonder if you would let
-
the Holy Ghost quicken you, stir you, maybe breathe life into an area
-
of your life that you thought was dead, that you thought was hopeless,
-
that you thought was broken, that you thought was gonna be lifeless. I
-
wonder if you could let the voice of the Spirit breathe life once again into
-
your calling, into your anointing, into your purpose. As my wife begins
-
to sing, I wonder all over this place, why don't you just close
-
your eyes this morning with your hands lifted. If you're okay with that,
-
