Pastor Tim Dunn "Jesus: Name Above All Names" part 2 (Sunday 9-17-23)

Welcome to Life City. This podcast was created to celebrate what God is doing

and what's for Texas. Our vision is to reach the hungry, the hurdy,

and the hopeless. God has given us our heading. Join us today

as we listen to the Word and we pray that God speaks to you in

this message. And so here we talk about Jesus at this church. It's

kind of what we do here. We talk about Jesus. You know why,

because he's the best thing in our life. Same man, because none

of us would be where we are today without him. Hey man, can

I get an amen? And so that's why we talk about Jesus and we

talk about him a lot, and we don't apologize for that because he's worthy

to be talked about. And if you have never taken the step of allowing

Him into your life, today is a great opportunity for you to do just

that. Amen. And if you've never taken the opportunity to make him lord

and savior and king of your life, well, guess what. Today is

a perfect opportunity for you to do that. Amen. And I promise you

it'll be the best and wisest decision you've ever made ever, hands down,

ever, Amen, I know your spouse, that choice was a pretty bang

up job. You knocked it out of the ballpark. I get it,

I know. But Jesus is even better. Amen. Amen, spouses,

you need to speak up. Jesus is even better. Amen. All right,

So because without Jesus, you can't be the bang up job for that

one, right, Yeah, man, you can't be the bang up You

can't be the knock it out of the park husband without Jesus. Amen.

Wives saying you need Jesus, Husbands, stay silent, little help there before

we get to November. Sometimes silence is the best policy. Yeah. The

man's were like, Amen, she needs a lot of Jesus. But amen.

It's funny how the Lord works. Last Sunday talked about Jesus showing up

sleeping in a boat, getting out, walking to the deck and speaking peace

to the stormybody. Remember that in scripture in Mark we find Jesus and this

was I've known this, have you ever known things? And then at the

right moment, the Lord just smacks you in the forehead with it. It's

kind of what happened is Jesus goes in two days time. He goes from

ministering and feeding five thousand to ministering to twelve. Okay, and it hit

me, it's not just about what he does for the masses, it's what

he does for me. Amen. He feeds and he ministers to five thousand

people plus, and then the very next day he's helping out his twelve disciples.

A man, So, don't ever let the enemy convince you that you're

insignificant. Don't ever let somebody be the voice of the enemy and tell you

that your life doesn't have a purpose. Amen, it does. It's not

about the stadiums filled with people. It's about him walking into your house in

man. So there's a side note. Okay, So we talked about Jesus

being in the boat with the storms last week, what he did while things

were, you know, bumping and moving for the disciples. Today, I

want to look at another storm that we that we find the disciples in.

They were kind of they got into some stuff. You know, you read

through the gospels, the disciples were always getting into stuff. There was always

a storm, There was always something that Jesus had to bail them out of,

right, he had to step up, and there was always isn't that

our life? You know? Have you seen the video I've mentioned it before

of the rancher that goes and pulls the sheep out of the crevis, and

he's like, yeah, right back in the crevis. You know, that's

us, that's our life, that's the disciples, that's humanity a man,

that's what we do. Jesus saves us right back in it. And he's

like, they never learn. But anyways, he's patient, he's good,

he's merciful, and so Jesus he But what's interesting is the storm we find

the disciples in that we talked about last week and Mark four. There's some

differences and how Jesus responds to the two storms. Okay, they're different.

And looking at this made me realize that depending on your storm or your trial,

the Lord's response and method of miracle may be different. And so it's

easy to get frustrated when we start looking for him in the same place at

the same time in every storm. Amen, we start looking at but Lord

you you showed up this way last time. But this is a different storm.

Amen, And what Lord, you're the same? We try to use

his word, Your Lord, you're the same yesterday, today and forever,

And you showed up this way this time, and so I know you're gonna

show up this way this time, and when he doesn't, we get frustrated.

Amen, Jesus may show up in the next storm of your life differently

than he did the last storm, because he might just want to be wanting

to reveal something about you or something about him to you. Do you ever

think about that man? So we have to trust him. So let's go

to Mark six, Mark six, verse forty five. And I know you

just got come, but let's stand in reverence of the reading of the word.

Mark six, Verse forty five says, and straightway. He constrained his

disciples to get into the ship. He told him getting the ship and go

to the other side before Beseda while he sent away the people. Remember he's

feeding five thousand those kind of things. So he sends the people away verse

forty six. And when he had sent them away, he departed into a

mountain to pray. And when even was come, evening time was come,

the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he was alone on

the land. And verse forty eight, he saw them toiling in rowing.

That means they were having a hard time, for the wind was contrary to

them. Is blowing in their face, is blowing the waves and all that

in their face. And about the fourth watch of the night, he came

unto them walking on the sea, and would have passed by them verse forty

nine. But when they saw him walking on the sea, they supposed it

had been a spirit and cried out. Now there's other versions that say they

thought it was a ghost, not the Holy ghost, but they and so

they kind of got scared verse fifty four. They all saw him and were

troubled. And immediately he talked with them and said, unto them, be

of good cheer. It is I be not afraid. And he went up

unto them into the ship, and the wind ceased. And they were sore,

amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered, for they considered not the

miracle of the loaves, for their heart was hardened. Amen, you can

be seated. So instead of being in the boat, we find Jesus up

on the mouth mountain praying. Okay, two different positions of the Lord.

One he was asleep in the boat. This one he's up on a mountain

praying. And he looks down from his view from his perspective on the mountain

and he sees the disciples in a bad spot in the storm. And I

believe it's good to be said that sometimes when the Lord, or when we

feel like Jesus is distant, we need to trust him, Amen, Because

it might just be that he has stepped away so that he can speak things

over your future and take a view of what's coming in your life. Amen.

It might just be that he pulls away just a little bit. But

you're never out of his sight. You're never so far that he can't reach

you, that he can't come to you. You're never so far. But

when he starts, when you feel like the Lord has distanced himself from you,

you need to understand that. I still just need to trust him because

there's probably a purpose. There's probably a reason that that that that I can't

see. We have to believe the scripture that tells us that he'll never leave

us nor forsake us. Amen. Hey man, we use it, but

do we really believe it. And so when when he when he's feeling close

like he is today and and and at times this morning, it was almost

as if I could reach out and touch him physically. That's how that's how

much I felt him and so in these moments, it's easy to say,

ah, he'll never leave me nor forsake me. But it's moments in the

valley when I feel all alone. It's moments in the storm or in the

trial when I feel like I'm all by myself. That verse I struggle humanity.

Our mind struggles with it. Why because we operate so much on what

we feel instead of what we know. Amen. And that's why David said,

I hide Thy word in my heart that I might not sin against THEE.

And so this is the thing. What you have to do is when

you find yourself in those moments, when you find yourself wondering is Jesus there?

Then all you have to do is go back to some moments of memorial

in your life and look at the times that he has showed up and understand

that I know him to be faithful. How many can say, amen to

that, I know him to be true? How many can say a man

to that? How many can say I know him to always be a friend

that sticks closer than a brother. Do we know him that way? Raise

your hand? If you know him that way, Then when you feel like

you're in a valley and you feel yourself in a storm and the wind is

blowing the waves in your face, and it feels like the boat is filling

up. It's in that moment where I may not feel like I want to

feel. I may not have goosebumps running down the back of my spine,

I may not feel all of the external things that sometimes we feel when we

stand in his presence. But in that moment, it's not about what I

feel. What do I know about this man called Jesus? What do I

know about him? Is he my savior? Yes? Is he good?

Yes? Is he my shepherd? Yes? And that's why David could sit

in a cave and write words like he is my shepherd. I shall not

want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me

beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul. Even though I walk through

the valley of the shadow of death, I don't have to fear evil.

Why because his rod and his staff comfort me. And sometimes you see,

this is the thing about God. This is what makes him so amazing.

Is this He knows how we're made because he's our creator, and he gave

us all of those sensory things. Touch your fingers hopefully you feel that unless

one of your fingertips is dead and go to the other one. Are just

you feel that? Yeah, okay, don't do that now, I was

just joking. Don't don't slap yourself in the forehead. You feel that?

Why because God created us with a sense of touch. And that's why when

Jesus, that's why, when the Holy Ghost touches you, it impacts your

entire life. It touches every sense that you're created with. It touches your

mind and your heart, it touches everything. Why because it's the touch of

the Master Amen. And so he understands that. And so what he does

is he moves in us, and he moves in our atmosphere. He moves

in the atmosphe here, and we feel people have explained it. Had a

young lady related to the Greens several years ago. She come up to us.

I was preaching from this poolpit or this this is different, but everything

else saying. She walked up and she as soon as I said, hey,

man, you're dismissed, she is right there. I said, yes,

ma'am, and she goes, okay. She said, I was standing

up here, and she says, I felt something I said, Okay,

what do you feel? I felt electricity, like I was hooked up to

two forty. She goes, is that what you've been talking about? I

said, it's very possible. I can't either confirm nor deny. Was it

good? Why? Because he understands how we're created, and so he will

minister to you in a way that touches all of your life, not just

one part, but all of your life if you will allow him. Amen.

And so we come into services like this and we feel something we like,

and it's more than than than than the banging of the piano or the

or the drums, or the or the bass, or the song, the

voice. It's more than all of that. It's it's our playing. I'm

sorry, the beautiful playing, the jingling of the ivories. Sorry offended my

wife there, I banged back. She plays them ever so graciously. Sorry.

Backtrack. See, you gotta work on your marriage even while preaching,

and so anyways, and so it's not just those things that move us,

Amen. He uses those things to minister man because he understands, he understands

how we're made. He understands what speaks to you, man, and that's

why he chooses to move and minister the way he does. Amen. But

there's moments when we can't feel any of those things. What do we do

in those moments when we can't see him or feel him? We have to

revert back to what we know about him. So this is my question that

I want you to answer privately right now. What do you know about Jesus?

I want you to think about that. What do you know about Jesus?

See, this is the deal. You might not always feel him,

but you are always in his sight. The disciples didn't see him, but

he saw them. They're in a boat feeling like it's going to capsize,

and they're in a storm again, and they're like freaking out that they're in

a storm again, and he sees them. He has his eyes ever so

turned to them. And there are times when we have to trust what we

know about him instead of just what we see or feel. Because Jesus has

full view of your life. He sees where you've been, he sees where

you are, and he knows where you're going. And his ways are higher

than our ways, his thoughts greater than our thoughts. Do we believe that,

hey man? And so from his perspective, he sees the disciples dealing

with this storm, and from his viewpoint he can see their struggle. And

all he has to do is speak to the storm from the mountaintop. And

once again, you know what the storm would have done. It would have

been calm. Why, because of what happened in Mark four, they obey

the creative authority in his voice. So nothing has changed with his authority,

Nothing has changed with his power. The only thing that changed was his method.

We have to start trusting his method, which has everything to do with

his timing, because he doesn't come the first time he sees the storm.

He waits till three am in the morning, and he's like, I guess

I'll go down there and hang out with those guys. And he said,

they're in a full blown panic by now. Anybody been there? Lord?

Where are you? Lord? There's a storm's coming. Where are you?

Lord? The storm's getting closer. Where are you? He's here? Where

are you? I'm drowning? Where are you? And so he waits until

three am in the morning and then he eases down. He could have sent

an angel to comfort them, to help them in some way as a manifestation

of his power, but no, he chooses to come himself. I read

this wonderful verse two verses in Psalms ninety three, Verse three and fourst the

floods have lifted up, o Lord. The floods have lifted up their voice.

The floods lift up their waves. It's funny how the writer is expressing

what we're feeling, what he's talking about. And then verse four he says,

the Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters. Amen,

and I want to remind somebody about that this morning. The Lord on

high is mightier than the noise. Amen. Understand, understand what the storm

is. It's just making noise, heymen. It's not overcoming you. It's

just making noise, heymen. It's just a bunch of noise in your life,

trying to create fear so you'll turn away from God and turn on God

and start blaming God, and so that you'll find something to try and silence

the fear instead of turning to the master that can speak peace to the storm.

But it's all noise. The voice of your enemy is just noise.

The voice of the doubters and the haters is just noise. The voice of

those who has spoken negative things over your life. That's just noise. The

Lord is mightier than the noise of many waters. We have to believe that

and understand that what God says about you has more power, creative power in

your life than what anything or anybody else has spoken over you. Amen.

Amen. You make mistakes, you are not a mistake. Amen. You've

messed up, You're not a mess up. Amen. God has chosen you.

Look at somebody and tell them God has chosen you. Don't scream at

him like I screamed at you. But I'm getting excited. Amen. I'll

be careful sometimes, Ronnie, God settles him. Settle down right. There

is no reason to fear the waves when you know the master of the waves.

Amen. There's no reason to fear the storm when you know the peace

speaker. Amen. Do we know the peace speaker? Amen? Amen.

And so there's no reason to fear the noise and the chaos of the water

when you know the one whose voice created everything. Amen. And So just

because you don't hear his voice, just because you don't receive some prophetic word,

or just because you don't receive some word from a man of God,

it just may may mean that he's choosing to reveal himself to you in some

way that you have never seen him before. Amen, Because understand what's happening

here. The disciples are out there on this boat, and they're in a

storm, and they've already had him a sleep in a boat. Step up

to the boat, speak peace. They've seen him take five lows and two

fish and feed five thousand. They've seen him do all of these things,

but they have yet to see him walk on water into the middle of their

storm. Amen. And so we have to trust that he knows the best

method of miracles for your life. We have to trust his method, his

power that's never changing, his authority that never changes. That part is the

same, yesterday, today, and forever. Amen. When Jesus walked on

that water means he can still walk on your storm waters. Amen. Do

we believe that? Amen? And so he just chooses a different method.

We just have to trust his methods. Another verse in Psalms chapter forty two,

verse seven says Deep calls unto Deep at the noise of thy water spouts,

all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. Yet everyone say,

yet, go to verse eight. Yet there you go, Yet the

Lord, that's what you need to say sometimes, Hey, man, when

you're facing something and you feel like you're Yet the Lord. I know what

I see. I know what's going on around me. And it may look

like complete chaos, and it may feel like destruction. Yet the Lord,

he says, Yet, the Lord will command his loving kindness in the daytime

and in the night. His song shall be with me. Amen, in

my prayer, unto the God of my life, hallelujah. The storm is

not there to destroy you. It's there to reveal the master of your life.

We just have to trust the process. The Great I Am is walking

in the midst of your storm. Whether you see him yet or not,

you see, this is the deal. He walked all the way until he

got in the vicinity of the boat. He was on the water the entire

way. Amen. They didn't see him until he got in the vicinity of

the boat. They didn't see the miraculous until he brought it into their view.

But all along while he was out of sight, he was still walking

in the miraculous. Come on, somebody, you understand what I'm saying here.

Amen. You may not see him yet, And the only reason you

may not see him, working in the miraculous is he hasn't revealed himself in

your vicinity just yet, but there's gonna come a moment to and maybe today

is that moment where he appears in the vicinity of what you feel like is

a sinking ship and he's gonna step up. But that doesn't mean he just

performed a miracle right then. No, he's been walking in the miraculous all

the way, ay man. And now he's made himself visible. Man.

And when he makes himself visible, they're like, oh, what's that?

I mean, these are think about that? That that perplexed me. It

did. I was like, these guys have seen Jesus do some crazy stuff.

Not every day you break a lunch for one little kid and feed five

thousand people. I mean, that's some crazy stuff. Amen. He stepped

to the boat and spoke peace and it. But yet these same guys that

have seen all of that, witness that with their own two eyeballs, see

this image walking on the water and they're like, oh, snap, what

is that? I know, snaps out of I know, I know,

I'm old. It's okay. And they thought it was they thought it was

a spirit, They thought it was something to be scared of something to be

feared. What's interesting to me is this verse where it says that I think

it's verse forty eight, bring forty eight up. Verse forty eight, marks

eight. He says, and he saw them toiling and rowing, for the

wind was contrary to them. And about the fourth watch of the night he

comes to them walking up on the sea and would have passed by them.

Now I've heard several different preachers preach on this, and there's some differences,

some thought differences. I'm not sure. I'm not sure kind of the whole

idea. Some versions word it a little bit different, but I don't know.

Maybe that Jesus was headed to the front of the storm, because I

find in John chapter ten, verse three says Jesus says to him, the

porter openeth, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own

sheep by name, and lead them out, leads them out. And when

he puts forth his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep

follow him, for they know his voice. And I just wonder if Jesus

that day was walking as my wife comes to the piano. That way,

you have hope for an end, as Jesus comes walking through their storm.

I wonder if his old whole intention was to get in front of them and

lead them out. But when they saw him, they're like, oh,

stop in the name of love. No, they didn't. They didn't say

that. They didn't say that at all. They were scared. And Jesus

decides to come aboard. You see what fear does. I wonder if his

whole intention was to get in front of them and lead them through the storm,

but their fear paused him, and he came aboard. And when he

came aboard, the scripture tells us the wind ceased. I wonder if,

and again I'm projecting this, the scripture doesn't tell us. I wonder if

there was something even greater than beholding Jesus walking on water that they cut short

because of their fear. What happened was phenomenal, was unbelievable. But maybe

his goal was to do something even greater in them, but he paused to

deal with the fear. What are you afraid of today? What's going on

in your life that's got you fearful? Amen, I want to tell you

the Master's here. There's no reason to be afraid. There's no reason to

have fear. I know the storm may be big. In the storm,

man, I just felt a rush of the Holy Ghost. I know things

around you may feel like the ship is sinking, man, But you don't

have to fear, because Jesus is walking on the water today. Amen,

He's walked. He's walking on the water. He sees you. He's had

his eye on you before the storm ever came. He's been watching the progression

of the storm. He knew it was gonna come into your life. And

he's not worried, Amen, because he controls the wind and the rain,

he controls the storm. He knew that trial was coming. He saw you,

and he saw it. He understands and he and because he didn't stop,

it doesn't make him a god that doesn't love you. It just makes

him a god that understands. Sometimes we need to go through things so that

he can reveal something about himself to us, that we that he can reveal

something about ourself to us, so that we can lean on him. Maybe

is to create a desperation in your life so you'll reach out to him even

more. I don't know the purpose of your storm, but Jesus does,

and so I have come to tell you today that you don't have to fear.

And I want you to understand that he sees you. He's never lost

sight of you while being in the storm, and today he's come to walk

in the midst of it and to tell you not to fear as you stand

with me. John Chapter fourteen. Jesus is talking verse sixteen, and he

says, I will pray the Father, and he will give you another comforter,

that he may abide with you forever, even the spirit of truth,

whom the world cannot receive because it sees him, not neither knoweth him,

but you you know him, for he dwelleth with you and shall be in

you. And Jesus utters these words, and this is the word I want

to encourage you with today. I will not leave you comfortless. I will

come to you. I want you eave that verse up. Would you close

your eyes all over this building? Hallelujah. It may look different, it

may feel different than the last time you dealt with something, But I'm here

to tell you he is not going to leave you comfortless. Amen. He

says, I will come to you, and I'm gonna give one more invitation

like I did earlier. In this service. If you're here today and you

find yourself in some scenario, some circumstance, some situation that you need Jesus

to walk into the middle of, I want to invite you to take a

step out of your pew and are out of your seat, out of your

row, and I want you to come up around this altar area Hallelujah.

And as you do, I wonder if you and kneel, you can stand,

you can throw your hands in the air, whatever you need to do.

But I want you to come, and I want you to ask Jesus,

Lord, I need you, Why don't you cast all your cares upon

Him right now? Thank you so much for being with us today. We
